Goophered Grapes
In the 10 years between the publication of The Goophered Grapevine, Chesnutt s first conjure tale, and
the composition of The Dumb Witness, the development of segregation culture had even more firmly
cemented the popular notions of black and white identifies in the United States. (Robison 61)
Charles Chesnutt is credited as a pro black writer for first being an African American writer and then
presenting the African American experience for the further humanizing of blacks in the United States.
Much of Chesnutt s work was drawn from his own experience as a fair skinned black person as

Also, there are many black writers that wrote very empowering pieces that did succeed at presenting
and demonstrating the black experience like Toni Morrison, Zora Hurston and Langston Hughes. But
for those that do subscribe to the idea that being able to speak standard American English makes a
person better , like many Americans, black and white did at that time and still do, by showing the
contrast of Chesnutt s extremely harsh dialect of Julius, which indulges a scholarly predilection for the
obscure or exotic , to that of the narrator further enforces and encourages that negative social construct
(Bodie). Speaking of Americans that might have subscribed to this idea, let s take a moment to
consider who would be reading this text.
The Atlantic Monthly is a Bostonian publication that centered on politics, literature, science and the

Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Adapted from content excerpted from the American Express® OPEN Small Business Network
Proper bookkeeping is important to sustaining and expanding a business. Without it, you run the risk
of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand. When you
are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to
help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. As long
as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should be as simple as possible.
The general guidelines here outline what you must take care of and provide ideas for how to keep your

Keep a log of each category of expense, for tax purposes and write yourself a check for the total. Write
cash reimbursable in your check register to differentiate this from taxable income. Alternatively, you
can keep a petty cash record by writing a check to petty cash and keeping a log of each expense paid
out of petty cash.
Inventory Records
Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory
holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things.
If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might want to
use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by having a POS
(point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on
paper.
The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item
purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price.
Accounts Receivable
If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable
tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a later
date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts
receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable
record. Either way, the information you need to capture includes: invoice date,

Lysistrat Women s Rights
Using the three Greek works that divulge many facts about the everyday life of Athenian women, I
will compare how the reality of women s lives is depicted. Such as the wife of Euphiletus having a
mistress, Lysistrata was so brave towards men, nor Neaera whom was a slave.
In the play of Lysistrata we see how women are depicted sexual. Also on how women were supposed
to always be at home while their husbands were away at war. Women duties were to be at home with
their son and taking care of the household needs. Lysistrata notes Oh what a low and horny race are
we! No wonder men write tragedies about us we re nothing but Poseidon and a bucket... (145) .
Women were depicted as having no control of themselves, and their husband seem the need to keep
them controlled because of their desires. Which Lysistrata has shown as being tragedies men wrote
about their wives. Lysistrata goal was to get the women help to have men end the war against Sparta,
but when she mentioned to women that they had so resisted from their husband sexual desired they
started to walk away from the Akropolis. The act of the women turning away therefore shows why
Lysistrata reacted by saying All right. We re going to have to give up cock. Why are you all turning
away from me? Where are you going? (130) . In reaction to their act that is why Lysistrata mentioned
the fact in line 145 on what horny race they were.
In the 3rd Episode of the Lysistrata play, lines 845 1025 shows how Kinesias, Myrrhine

Orange Play Doch Research Paper
Results The study revealed differences between the effects of Superflab, uncooked rice, green Play
Doh, and orange Play Doh when used as a bolus material. Each bolus type resulted in a different
Dmax when irradiated five separate times with two hundred monitor units (MU) with a field size of
10cm x 10cm (See Table 2). The solid water was the control variable in the experiment and the values
that resulted from irradiation of the solid water compared to each bolus variable resulted in different
values. Table 1 recorded the ratios that resulted from these values. ANOVA calculations from the
values shown in Table 1 resulted in an F value of 762.65. A large difference between the groups
resulted in a large F value. However, there was little difference ... Show more content on

The P value less than 0.01, from the Tukey HSD test, shows that the outcomes are not coincidental but
that there is a numerical or scientific reason for the results of the experiment. The outcomes of the
experiment show that there are significant differences between each bolus type. Exact bolus
placement, calculating constant air pressure and room temperature, rounding errors, and human error
are limitations that could skew the results of this experiment. The results are consistent with prior
studies that indicate there are alternative bolus material options that are more effective than Superflab.
According to the ratios to water in Table 1, investigators conclude that uncooked rice is the best
alternative to Superflab due to the fact that it is more similar and consistent than Superflab to solid
water when providing Dmax. The data infers that although using the alternative variables will suffice
as bolus, the compositions of Superflab, green Play Doh, and orange Play Doh do not provide the
maximum dose build up as well as uncooked rice. In conclusion, this experiment narrows the
informational gap when researching bolus materials and provides an answer to the question of which
bolus will be best to use in radiation

neither company directly competed with the petitioners. Based on the original law, this would
normally render the case irrelevant because a result of price inequalities from a firm does not

The American Revolution raised to fight the lower classes , small artisans having no property and the
poor farmers, who formed the significant colonial population group. The lower classes in particular
were the main driving force of the revolution being hostile towards the gentlemen, who held
administrative positions. The primary issue that was changed by the Revolution was the overall
freedom. The concepts are the most valuable for the society and its sustainable development.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that independence was the primary aim, the liberation struggle was

Evidence Of Negligence
There are three essential elements that are required for an action for negligence to considered. It must
first be established if the defendant owed the plaintiff a duty of care, that there was a breach of that
duty of care and that the plaintiff suffered a loss caused by the breach of duty. As Michael was
repairing a bike for a client, he did owe his client Paul a duty of care. As stated in the problem,
Michael was distracted and neglected to properly secure the front wheel after finishing his repairs, this
is a breach of the duty of care on Michael s part. Paul also suffered a loss caused by this breach of
care. This means that all three essential elements required are established for a case of negligence.
Further evidence of this is seen

The Importance Of Phonological Awareness Development On...
The Importance of Phonological Awareness Development in Preschool Children
John Kimball
University of Mississippi
Introduction
Phonemes, which are the individual units of sound, such as /b/, /p/ or /m/, are considered to be the
building blocks of language development. The individual phonemes are the first sounds we utter as
infants. The babblings of infants comprise of all the phonemes contained in their language. As an
infant develops into a toddler, the phonemes come together to form the first words, and eventually
these words group together to form sentences. The developments from infancy to the time that these
children begin preschool or become preschool age are the beginnings of speech communication.
A child must learn the rules of phonology before they can begin to learn to read. Phonology is the
study of the unconscious rules governing speech sound production (Adams, Foorman, Lundberg, and
Beeler, 1998). This is one of the first topics that teachers begin instructing upon in preschool. Children
begin to learn the alphabet and start to associate the sounds with their corresponding letter. This
instruction from teacher begins the development of each individual child s phonological awareness.
Phonological awareness has been shown to be one of the most reliable predictors and associates of
reading ability (Mann, Foy, 2003).
Children quickly develop an awareness of phonemes and can learn to attend to and manipulate these
speech sounds in a

The Myth Of The Atlantis
Atlantis , one of the most fascinating enigmas of the past, has never ceased to fascinate and make the
world dream. 2400 years after this myth was built by the Greek philosopher Plato, researchers revived
the ancient legend of this lost paradise myth. The origin of the myth goes back of course to Plato who
describes the Atlantis as a civilization barbaric, greedy luxury and whose decadence provoked the
anger of the gods who, punishment, caused a cataclysm that engulfs the city. But, researchers and
scientists evidence prove that Atlantis is only a myth.

A Relationship Between Democracy And Making The World A...
Is there a relationship between democracy and making the world a more peaceful place? With the
increase in the number of democracies post Cold War, this contemporary question is one, which many
scholars of International Relations aim to answer. Whilst many scholars may argue that spreading
democracy will make the world a more peaceful place, as claimed with the democratic peace theory, it
is necessary to look at factors other than democracy that lead to world peace. By understanding factors
such as common cultures allowing for international cooperation, the weaknesses of democratic
institutions in prohibiting warfare and the importance of economy to states highlight that it is more
than just democracy that leads to international harmony, and that perhaps liberal democracies more so
than just democracy itself will allow for greater global amity.
Arguably peace and democracy are equally ambiguous words. Peace, internationally involves a lack of
armed conflicts, encompassing the idea that states will not wage war against each other resulting in
physical or economic losses. . However, peace at a state level is when there is civil order within the
country and citizens are content with their human rights and civil liberties . As peace seeks to
symbolize a wide range of things, peace in this essay is defined at its international level, whereby
there is no warfare. Secondly, democracy will be defined in this essay by its modern meaning as the
process of developing a recognizably

Islam Is A Religion Based On The Oneness Of God
Islam is a religion based on the Oneness of God (tawhid), who is identified by His Arabic name, Allah.
Deepa Kumar starts off with the base the religion stands on, which is the belief that there is only one
God. This belief stands as the one of the five fundamentals of Islam known as the five pillars. This
pillars is known as the Shaha dah, as a Muslim (a follower of Islam) testifies to the oneness of God by
reciting There is no god but God followed by Muhammad is the messenger of God in Arabic. This two
part testification is the heart of Islam and is used as a source of identification for Muslims. In Islam,
Allah is the source of everything including both cosmic and human qualities (discussed later on). In
addition, the Divine Qualities of Allah is based on His description in the Quran through His Names
and Attributes. This includes that God is neither male nor female and has attributes that represent both
feminine and masculine properties (Nasr, Heart of Islam). Although Islam is a monolithic religion, it is
not a homogeneous religion. Islam consists of 1.57 billion followers and is widely practiced around
the world and consists of many branches within the two main denominations. The two main
denominations of Islam are Sunnism and Shi ism. Sunnism is known as a large majority within Islam
as it claims about 87% 90% of the Muslim population around the world (Kumar, Framing Islam). The
term Sunni comes from the people who follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad

Pros And Cons Of Single Transferable Voting System
Every three years the Australian Senate is reelected using the single transferable voting system. In this
system, voters rank the list of candidates by order of preference to fill spots in a multi member district.
Then a quota is set based on the number of votes cast and the number of Senate seats to fill. If any
candidate receives more votes than the quota, they receive a seat. Any surplus votes are then
transferred to second choice candidates to see if they reach the quota, and so on until all Senate seats
are filled. In reality, single transferable voting is not a perfect election system. Because it does not
follow the independence of irrelevant alternatives criteria of Arrow s theorem, there is always a

Auditor Independence Essay
Abstract. The article reviewed was Role of Independence in Ethics for SMP Accountants. The key of
the abstract is to emphasize the strength of ethics and moral behavior while conducting the audit (pp.
305 306).
Introduction. The author studied professional ethics and auditor independence at small and medium
firms. The researcher compared ethics with values, and laid emphasis on the credibility as one of the
most important ethics element (p. 306). The concept of auditor independence and ethics has
significantly changed for the last century. There was a drastic move toward the neutrality in reporting.
The main objective of research is to analyze two terms independence of mind and independence in
appearance; and examine perceptions of independent auditors (pp. 307 308). The study is important
because it investigates professional ethics as the key of quality assurance services. The researcher
considered two problems of the study: shifts in regulations affect the auditors behavior, and changes in
settings and culture of businesses (p. 305).
Literature Review. The author used a systematic review of literature in the research. The researcher
examined studies of Gill and Cosseral (1996), The Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and
Guidance Note on Independence of Auditors to analyze the word independence in depth. The author
stated that the term might bring a lot of confusion (p. 307). The term should emphasize that the
professional is free from financial relationships.

Six months after the merger of Mercy Medical Hospitals and the Promedica Health Systems, the new
administration initiated a significant reduction in workforce. The decision was made to redesign
patient care delivery. The administration s first job redesign recommendation was that of a universal
worker. The universal worker would deliver many support services. Although this is not a fail proof

The term universal worker is used when a person is cross trained in many departments, and therefore
has a little more assignment flexibility. They are often used in call centers and hospitals to alleviate

Changing an organization through an organization redesign process is a journey and generally a rather
long journey. That is why the following three principles must be understood by anyone who is about to
undertake any type of organization redesign:
The entire system has an effect on each element within the system
Every element in the system has an effect on the entire system and on each other
No matter what you do, the two points above always hold true.
When an organization goes through redesign,
1. People need to be identified as being responsible for driving the organization through the process.
Those individuals include:
Organization Leader: Who is generally the most senior person in the organization. This person will set
the direction that the process will go in and names the Steering Committee
Steering Team: Consists of key leaders from the organization and other stakeholders. This teams
responsibilities include naming and commissioning the Design Team, establishing boundaries and
guidelines for the Design Team, approving Design Team recommendation and ensuring the Design
Team have the resources (time and money included) they require to get the job done

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7% 25.4% (1990 2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased deforestation
and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale preparation,
plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 2011), support to Community
Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives, National Forest
Resource Inventories and others.
Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik,
the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests cover
4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999). The
annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1990/91. In the hilly area,
forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1994. In the entire country,
from 1978 79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an annual rate of 1.7%. This trend indicates the
ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the Terai. The graph above shows the regional

The Impact Of Multiple Actions On The Environment
1. Introduction
Many research efforts have demonstrated that a direct environmental impact from a single action is
often insignificant, and in reality, it is the numerous minor impacts from multiple actions that cause
the greatest environmental harm (Dales 2011, Franks et al. 2012, DNRM 2013, Finlayson et al. 2008,
Neville 2009, Sonter et al. 2013). These are referred to as cumulative impacts, the successive,
incremental, and combined impacts of multiple actions on the environment (Dales, J 2011). There are
four characteristics of cumulative impacts as summarized from Franks et al. 2012, these include;
1. Cumulative impacts may be caused by future, present or past activities,
2. Cumulative impacts can differ greatly in intensity, space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2012).
Due to population growth, much pressure has been placed on natural resources and the ecosystem
services that are essential to human life (Franks et al. 2012). Rapid changes to the environment such as
climate change and the use of natural resources affect the resilience of natural systems. Therefore,
appropriate management and assessment of cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine
environment from anthropogenic activities is crucial, albeit difficult, as impacts often extend outside
of the geographic location of a development. Further, impacts from an action can have a compounding
effect on outside systems already under stress from unrelated activities. Although much legislation has
been enacted in attempt to buffer stressors caused by anthropogenic land use, environmental impact
assessment and management approaches are often reactive, and consider mainly the impacts of
individual activities and how to mitigate them (Dales, J 2011, Sonter et al. 2013). Therefore, a more
integrated, proactive and holistic approach needs to be applied when it comes to the assessment and
management cumulative impacts.
In the following essay, I will explore cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine environment
resulting from groundwater use, mining and agricultural practices in the Australian context. Using
examples from the Murray Darling Basin, Bowen Basin, the Fitzroy River and the Great Barrier Reef,

Respect Definition Essay
Respect is defined as a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities,
qualities, or achievements. A little more common interpretation of this word is; something that is
earned through hard work, honesty, and fairness. Respect is the basis for a person s life and almost
everything they do revolves around it. Respect is important in every aspect of a person s everyday life.
Respect is something that a person must work for, it can not be just given to anybody. Respect is also
something that can be easily lost if not taken seriously. All it takes to lose the respect of someone is to
simply bad mouth them or do anything to disappoint or hurt them in any way. Respect is very
important in many aspects of the everyday life. Whether it s in a relationship, or in the workplace, or
even when a person is around family, respect is needed in order to make the most out of every
experience. Respect has a place in many pieces of a person s life, in a way it defines the events in
which the individual partakes in; their job, their relationship, and the gathering with their families.

Respect is earned through hard work and honesty. Another important part to gaining the respect of
another individual is to respect them as well. This is an important step to earning the respect from
another person, and it is often neglected because most people think that they should be respected
before they should respect another individual. While most people would like to think that this is true it
is the complete opposite of what should be done. This alone can make respect hard to obtain especially
in the workplace and in many relationships. Respect seems hard to give up due to this idea, but in
most cases whenever a person begins to show respect to another person, that person will start to do the
same. The effect is more of a cause and effect type

The Secret Garden Quotes
I was angry. I never cried. I didn t know how to cry. This quote was said by Mary Lennox, in the
movie The Secret Garden, based on the book, wrote by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Mary is an orphan,
brought into her uncle, Lord Craven s, house, Misselthwaite Manor. Her uncle took her in after a
terrible earthquake in India, that sadly took the lives of her parents. Mary never really had any friends
and was always alone, her parents were not very caring nor affectionate to her, and never really paid
much attention to her at all, they only cared about themselves. This was very hard difficult for Mary,
she would try to please them, make them love her, but it never seemed to work. Mary had almost

As you know Mary s parents died in an earthquake, but before they died Mary still had no connection
with them, they cared more about themselves than her. Mary tried to connect with them and be with

moved into Misselthwaite Manor, she was ornery, angry, and upset all the time. That was the way it
was for her until she found her aunt s room and the key to the garden. Even though she found the key
to the garden, she had not found the garden yet. When she found the garden she was so happy, and she
actually started to smile, and be happy, she found something that she was really passionate about, and
was willing to love and care for. This garden not only helped her open up, but it helped her help others
to open up their heart. Mary helped Colin open up, which opened Lord Craven, which then opened
Mrs. Medlock. If Mary did not go to Misselthwaite Manor, everything would be the same, she would
still be unhappy, and Colin and Lord Craven would have never connected. The spell was broken. My
uncle learned to laugh and I learned to cry. The secret garden is always open now. If you look the right
way, you can see the whole world is a garden. That quote was said by Mary in the end of the movie,
she did learn to cry, open her heart, learn to love, and learned that everything is a garden if you look
the right way. The key to getting into the garden is kindness and trust, and the garden is your heart, if

Karl Marx
A century and a half ago, Karl Marx established a theory that today is known as the backbone to
modern socialism and communism. Marx viewed the early capitalism of his own day as inherently
exploitive. At the core of capitalist production is what is considered surplus value, the value left over
after the producer (in Marx s case, factory owner) had paid the fixed costs of production such as raw
materials, machinery, overhead and wages. The left over amount was kept as profit, a profit that Marx
saw that was earned from the sweat of the labor. Derived from his idea of surplus value was that of
alienation. Marx gave an economic interpretation to alienation. People were alienated from their own
labor; their work was appropriated by someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In realizing that the capitalist had a new tool with which they could barter or trade, they also realized
they now had an effective tool to keep the cost of the labor commodity down and in effect control
those of the labor community that would become trouble for the new way of doing things in this new
capitalist, industrial, power creating realm. The first casualty was and is always the worker in a
capitalist society, according to Marx. See, first of all, Marx saw the many workers as victims who
were or are taking advantage of by the owners of the factories and other means of production to satisfy
the gain of profit by the few capitalists. Marx argued that under capitalism labor seldom receives more
than bare subsistence. According to Marx, the surplus remaining is appropriated by the capitalists as
their profits. This was a belief that many laborers, trying to organize to obtain better wages and work
conditions during early commercial capitalism, held and acted upon.
Arguing that the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles, (500) and that
liberal governments and ideology were merely agents of the exploiting owners of property, Marx
advocated the abolition of private property and predicted the demise of capitalism after a series of
recurring crises. The abolition of property, and therefore of class

example of this is when Morgan says at the bridge that she will be alright and that she is going to

of my daughter, I would not be able to join the military. So I made other plans and started working
towards a different goal. As fate would have it however, my husband and I reconciled, worked things
out and got back together. Two weeks later I was called by my recruiter and was told that a spot had

For my first duty station, I was assigned to Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. I arrived there in May 2010

his new brand of music, Rock n Roll in the 1950s. Elvis and his music came in a time when the baby

What are the economic, social and political reasons for Catalonia s desire to secede from Spain?
Since Catalonia s post Franco reinstatement in 1980, September 11th has been a day to celebrate the
end of the War of the Spanish Succession. La Dia Nacional de Catalunya, or The National Day of
Catalonia, has never been celebrated like it was on September 11th, 2012. An estimated 1.5 million
people demanded independence for Catalonia on the streets of Barcelona, waving the new Catalan

With over 1,000 years of distinct regional history, their own language, a huge population and strong
economy, many Catalan s believe that they are a separate nation already, and want to legitimize it.
Catalan national parties have been a very powerful force in Catalan politics since the reconvention of
the Catalan government, or the Generalitat, in 1977. In 2012, the Generalitat was ruled by the CiU
(Convergéncia I Unió) and Arturo Mas, CiU s leader. Mas s push for an early vote in November 2014
is an example of how Catalan politics are playing a large role in the movement towards independence.
Although many Spaniards argue that Catalonia already has their own regional government, Catalan s

Analysis Of Shinnors Gravitation Towards Kit-Cats
I argue that Shinnors gravitation towards the Kit Cats was prompted by an aesthetic feeling (Huntley
1970, 17) grounded in his early historicality (Heidegger 1950, 47). Heidegger (1950, 29) felt that in
order to grasp the truth, we can return to something that is already manifest, in this case I would argue
that this was Donovan s work, specifically work like Balcony Series (with self portrait) . This truth
happening which Shinnors experienced was therefore an example of Crowther s (2009, 70) theory of
corporeal imagination , the idea that our sense of the present draws upon our actual learned responses
to events of the past. If we think of our corporeal imagination being composed of layers of memory
and experience, with some phenomena being

The Importance Of Business Communication In An Organization
Communication is held for commanding orders to the employees. Its nature may be directive or non
directive. At this level the individual commands his workers to accomplish any particular task. It is
held to build the relationship between business organizations and its services.
It is helpful for employees in understanding the rules and policies of the organization. Also, it helps to
transfer the knowledge between higher and lower levels. To spread information in the organization is
the main purpose of business communication.
It helps in evaluation of activities held in the organization. It helps to assess the outputs of individuals

How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders
This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the use
of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out key
policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote social
justice and equality.
The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has been
convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used because the
criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to adults who offend
(ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and criminal activities are
beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now getting involved in criminal
activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals between the ages of 16 21 committing
crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why young people choose to commit crimes, these
would include problems at home, peer pressure, boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one
of the main reasons that young people turn to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of
Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young
people were the only group that were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict
between adults and young people seems to be based around behaviour in public.

information helps one decipher the metaphorical words of Miss Millay s poem that may be confusing
due to the fact it was written in 1921, shortly after World War I. The poem is about her view of life
and how one sometimes misses out on opportunities. Readers would possibly be people who want to
experience something else in life, but Miss Millay leaves it open for anyone to interpret. The woman
in the text suggests that she is satisfied with what she has, but would not mind something different.
The purpose of the poem is to explain that some opportunities are not for everyone. Some are taken,
while others are given. Miss Millay is trying to get the point across that one must be willing to take
risks or chances because they could be gone the next moment. Opportunities pass us by every single
day; it is our choice whether or not we decide to take them. One must do a little thinking before they
are able to come to this conclusion. The poem has a longing or desiring feeling to it. The woman in the
poem is emotional; she has a determination for experiencing something new in life. She talks about
her feelings and describes the relationships she has and does not

Essay about Depiction of September 11th 2001 in the Media
It was Tuesday 11th September 2001 when two hijacked passenger aircrafts collided with the World
Trade Centre, bringing it to fall and kill thousands of people and injure even more. Immediately,
newspaper, television and radio journalists were reporting, all with different views, opinions and facts.
The ways in which the tragedy of September 11th was reported and presented, in newspapers,
magazines and television broadcasts was striking and they varied greatly, in particular by The Sun a
tabloid newspaper, The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper and a letter published in a
commemorative magazine marking the events of that day. Differences and similarities between the
three sources were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper, complies mainly with the usual stereotype of itself, that
broadsheet s deal very much with the information and actual events of a situation. Smaller picture to
text ratios are used and headlines are rather more discreet. The Financial Times uses a picture that
concentrates very much more on the whole skyline of New York and the Statue of Liberty stands tall
in the foreground. The Financial Times has used this in their front page picture to demonstrate how the
tragedy has affected people on a much bigger scale across America. The presence of the Statue of
Liberty is included to show freedom and hope for the American people, or, indeed to highlight the
terrorist attempt to destroy this. Bullet points at the top of the front page also show that The Financial
Times is a newspaper which focuses more directly on issues that affect the whole world, some of these
issues being, Finance, Travel and Tourism and Political issues.
They also attempt to use language that will appeal but direct it in a more formal way, concerning
different political and social aspects. The scale difference of pictures between the two newspapers,
allows room for the broadsheet to include columns of text, beginning to explain and tell the events

Performance Enhancement Analysis
Healthcare organizations (HCOs) are in the business of providing quality care, while reducing cost
and meeting various guidelines and regulations. Therefore, it is necessary that HCOs monitor,
measure, and evaluate the performance of their organization. Balanced scorecards is a tool that is used
in healthcare to monitor organization performance by focusing on indicators that affect performance.
A balanced scorecard was created and implemented at a clinic at the Oregon Health and Science
University Family Medicine. The article Performance Enhancement Using a Balanced Scorecard in a
Patient centered Medical Home discusses how the balanced scorecard was developed, how it was
used, and how it improved performance.

High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act...
High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of
particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care
outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center
model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed
Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care.
The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study
confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health
care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened
and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the
construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care.
After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the
Patewood Memorial Hospital.
Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in
Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York
counties. The Charleston Birth Place and Greenville Birth Center are the only CABC accredited
birthing centers in the state. After just five years of operation, The Charleston birth Place is delivering

Queen Elizabeth the First Essays
Elizabeth Semper Eadem Prologue Known as The Golden Age in English history, the 45 year rule of
Queen Elizabeth I turned the declining country of England, into one of the most powerful and
prosperous countries in the world. Elizabeth Tutor I was born unwanted to King Henry VIII and Anne
Boleyn on September 7 1533. Taught by famous scholars in her youth, she excelled at her studies.
From an early age, she was seen to be enormously gifted. She had an especial flair for languages. By
adulthood, she was capable of speaking 5 different languages. In the January of 1547, King Henry
passed away leaving Elizabeth 3rd in line to the throne. The true successor to throne was Edward VI
but he was far too young to govern, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the half century during which she ruled, her kingdom became known for its pageantry and glamour.
When Elizabeth Tudor had succeeded the throne, religious strife, a huge government debt, and failures
in war, had caused England to be considered a poor credit risk on the Continent. Though popular and
much admired, Elizabeth did not inherit a stable and prosperous country, thus the quest for stability
and prosperity became the guiding force of her reign. She constantly avoided foreign entanglements
and religious extremism. The motto Elizabeth Semper Eadem Latin, meaning Always the same was
highly appropriate. Queen Elizabeth I left behind an extraordinary image of a dazzling era of
excitement and achievement, nearly superhuman heroes and daring deeds, with the Queen, larger than
life, radiating inspiration at the center of it all. Elizabeth s character was a mystery to most people at
the time she inherited the throne. She had learned to keep her own council, control her emotions, and
always behaved cautiously, thus being able to disprove all rumors about her. Always dignified and
stately, she could be vain, willful, dictatorial, temperamental, and imperious. She had courage, both in
her decisions, and in the face of danger. Possessing an innate of humanity, she was not normally cruel,
unlike most rulers of her day. Most regarded her to be unusually tolerant in that age of religious
conflict. She saw herself as one who was always honest and honorable, who

Entering International Markets Essays
Entering International Markets Measuring a potential business venture has many aspects which the
international manager must be aware of in order to convey the correct information back to the decision
makers. Being ignorant to any of the aspects can lead to a false representation of the project, and
hence an uninformed decision being passed. In order for a business to survive it must grow. For
growth to be optimal, management must first be able to identify the most attractive prospective leads.
The country as a whole, specifically geography, government, and financial aspects must be looked at
in order to yield the best possible picture of the market a company wishes to enter. Concentration
should be placed on gathering reliable facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After sifting through the leads and finding the right ones to investigate management must formulate an
international marketing plan. This further helps management in locating potential markets for their
products. The first step is to use secondary research to find out what the sales potential is in a given
market. Asking the questions of need, demand, and support gives one a starting point for research. If
we were a company that sold pants we might want to ask the following questions. Is there a need for
pants? Is it cold enough there to wear pants? Do people that demand the pants have money? These are
the questions that one should ask of potential markets. Table 1 located at the end of the paper shows
the statistics that are needed for a general market picture. After gathering the information from the
secondary research, the picture of a potential market becomes more evident. However, to make the
picture clearer, one must conduct primary research. This research outlines the specifics of the potential
market that directly pertain to the product. Robert Douglas book, Penetrating the International Market,
addresses the issue of locating potential markets in greater detail.2
[mg1] After finding a lead that contains profitable markets it is necessary to analyze the venture as a
whole. The decisions of companies must be based on the facts of reliable sources on all investments.
To gather the information

Analysis Of Sayuri Nitta s Memoirs Of A Geisha
Power, prestige, personality, and a pleasing face: Chairman Ken Iwamura of the Iwamura Electric
Company has it all. Undoubtedly, such a man would attract the great admiration of many. However,
the Kyoto geisha, Sayuri Nitta, stands as an exception. She does not admire the Chairman. Instead, she
is obsessed with him, so utterly entranced by his charm as to devote her entire life to having him
become her danna. This intense love is the primary reason she transforms from a scared, reluctant
young girl, Chiyo Sakamoto, into a manipulative and seductive full fledged geisha. Analyzing Arthur
Golden s Memoirs of a Geisha through a psychoanalytical lens reveals that Sayuri Nitta s fixation
upon Chairman Iwamura emerges ultimately due to her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not with the Chairman, but instead with the manipulative owner of the Japan Coastal Seafood
Company, Tanaka Ichiro. After Sayuri s first meeting with him, in which he helps her and
compliments her beauty, she develops a pleasant thought that I [she] tried again and again to bring into
focus (16) about him. Never having felt love or affection from her own father, her subconscious search
for a paternal caretaker lands on Tanaka san, the first male adult to treat her with affection. Later,
Sayuri began to have fantasies that Mr. Tanaka would adopt me [her] (20), proving that she considered
him her legitimate father figure and desired for him to replace her biological father. Both Sayuri s
childhood psychological unfulfillment and Tanaka san s role as her first surrogate father figure cause
obsession with Chairman Iwamura. Adversity and emotional problems encountered during early
childhood play a great role in shaping later behaviors. Sayuri s lack of love from a father figure in her
youth shapes her mind s particular susceptibility to displays of affection from older males. When the
Chairman performs the simple act of helping and complimenting her, she changed from a lost girl
facing a lifetime of emptiness to a girl with purpose in her life (113), the event greatly impacting her
psyche. She is led to believe, through her deadpan father, that men are generally uncaring, and as such

Reflection OnKnowing Others Is Wisdom, Mastering Yourself...
I would like to begin with the quote Knowing others is wisdom, mastering yourself is Enlightenment .
In this course I have discovered more about myself all through the class formally as well as
informally. To my surprise few of the Management skills I was performing in my day to day life in a
corporate environment without knowing it. And then there are some brand new skills I have learnt in
the class such as Tuckman s team model, Drexler/Sibbet team performance model. At first I was
thinking I am a helper (Type 2 enneagram) but to my amazement I found out that I am Achiever (Type
3 enneagram). As type 3 personalities are extroverts I did not find difficulty in any stages of Tuckman
s team model . All the process of forming, storming, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then one day professor shared his personal experience for taking his parents for granted and the cost
he paid for it by losing them permanently. After knowing this I realized my mistake and really felt
guilty for taking them granted. They all need is to know that I am doing fine in my life on everyday
basis. And being only son they don t have any other choice also. From then onwards every day I
started calling them even before their message. This will be The Best lesson I learnt informally for my
life. When it comes to team work I used the Drexler/Sibbet team performance model extensively. In
our creativity and innovation class we will be having multiple assignments for the week, so I went by
each step of the model starting with Orientation of team by meeting in library and brainstorm the ideas
for the assignments and provide all necessary inputs and hands over the responsibility to one of the
team member so that the particular member feels that we all are trusting him solely and also gives the
100% commitment without any external factors. Which is good for the team to achieve the high
performance. Not all the brainstorming session ends smoothly, because we cannot incorporate all the
ideas. So when it comes to dealing with the conflict situations to convince the team without hurting
anyone, I learned Thomas Kilmann conflict mode Instrument (TKI) when to compromise and when to
collaborate. And then there will be someone whom

The Role Of Fear In Markandaya s Nectar In A Sieve
In the story Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, both hope and fear are present forces in the
story that affect the outcome of the situations they go through. Fear helps the family overcome famine,
monsoons, and death as time goes on. As situations get harder, the force of hope becomes no more.
Although hope is present in the story, fear is the more powerful force that keeps Rukmani and her
family alive throughout the story. Fear is a force that can make or break people. The fear could either
motivate you to higher heights or completely destroy you as a person. In this case fear helped
Rukmani and her family countless times. An example of this is when Rukmani and Nathan are talking
about the effects that the monsoons will have on them. It is a bad season , Nathan said somberly. The
rains have destroyed much of our work, there will be little eating done this year (40). Since the rain
destroyed most of the family s land, they have a fear of starvation and that they might not survive this
season. But, the fear that Nathan and the family had of death led to them taking action and to get back

Rukmani says of how fear has constantly been with and her family and how hope was a present force
at one point, but as time passed fear had overpowered hope. Hope and fear. Twin forces that tugged at
us first in one direction and then in another... of the latter we never spoke but is always with us. Fear,
constant companion of the peasant (78). Hope and fear are both present forces in their life, but
overtime as times got harder, fear had gotten a stronger hold on to their lives. This quote is saying that
in the family s life both fear and hope are intertwined in their lives and as more situations such as
monsoons, and famine occur fear takes over and hope is soon all, but

(Robison 61) Charles Chesnutt is credited as a pro black writer for first being an African American writer and then presenting the African American experience for the further humanizing of blacks in the United States. Also, there are many black writers that wrote very empowering pieces that did succeed at presenting and demonstrating the black experience like Toni Morrison, Zora Hurston and Langston Hughes. But for those that do subscribe to the idea that being able to speak standard American English makes a person better , like many Americans, black and white did at that time and still do, by showing the contrast of Chesnutt s extremely harsh dialect of Julius, which indulges a scholarly predilection for the obscure or exotic , to that of the narrator further enforces and encourages that negative social construct (Bodie). Speaking of Americans that might have subscribed to this idea, let s take a moment to consider who would be reading this text. The Atlantic Monthly is a Bostonian publication that centered on politics, literature, science and the arts. While these topics are not reserved for our society s elite so much these days, it was much more so back then and the creators of the magazine definitely thought of themselves as part of our nation s cultural elite. Even to this day, at least some of the staff at The Atlantic feel this way. Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics Adapted from content excerpted from the American Express® OPEN Small Business Network Proper bookkeeping is important to sustaining and expanding a business. Without it, you run the risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand. When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. As long as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should be as simple as possible. Inventory Records Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things. If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on paper. The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price. Accounts Receivable If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable record. Either way, the information you need to capture includes: invoice date, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Lysistrat Women s Rights Using the three Greek works that divulge many facts about the everyday life of Athenian women, I will compare how the reality of women s lives is depicted. Such as the wife of Euphiletus having a mistress, Lysistrata was so brave towards men, nor Neaera whom was a slave. In the play of Lysistrata we see how women are depicted sexual. Also on how women were supposed to always be at home while their husbands were away at war. Women duties were to be at home with their son and taking care of the household needs. Lysistrata notes Oh what a low and horny race are we! No wonder men write tragedies about us we re nothing but Poseidon and a bucket... (145) . Women were depicted as having no control of themselves, and their husband seem the need to keep them controlled because of their desires. Which Lysistrata has shown as being tragedies men wrote about their wives. Lysistrata goal was to get the women help to have men end the war against Sparta, but when she mentioned to women that they had so resisted from their husband sexual desired they started to walk away from the Akropolis. The act of the women turning away therefore shows why Lysistrata reacted by saying All right. We re going to have to give up cock. Why are you all turning away from me? Where are you going? (130) . In reaction to their act that is why Lysistrata mentioned the fact in line 145 on what horny race they were. In the 3rd Episode of the Lysistrata play, lines 845 1025 shows how Kinesias, Myrrhine ... Each bolus type resulted in a different Dmax when irradiated five separate times with two hundred monitor units (MU) with a field size of 10cm x 10cm (See Table 2). The solid water was the control variable in the experiment and the values that resulted from irradiation of the solid water compared to each bolus variable resulted in different values. Table 1 recorded the ratios that resulted from these values. ANOVA calculations from the values shown in Table 1 resulted in an F value of 762.65. The P value less than 0.01, from the Tukey HSD test, shows that the outcomes are not coincidental but that there is a numerical or scientific reason for the results of the experiment. The outcomes of the experiment show that there are significant differences between each bolus type. Exact bolus placement, calculating constant air pressure and room temperature, rounding errors, and human error are limitations that could skew the results of this experiment. The results are consistent with prior studies that indicate there are alternative bolus material options that are more effective than Superflab. According to the ratios to water in Table 1, investigators conclude that uncooked rice is the best alternative to Superflab due to the fact that it is more similar and consistent than Superflab to solid water when providing Dmax. The data infers that although using the alternative variables will suffice as bolus, the compositions of Superflab, green Play Doh, and orange Play Doh do not provide the maximum dose build up as well as uncooked rice. In conclusion, this experiment narrows the informational gap when researching bolus materials and provides an answer to the question of which bolus will be best to use in radiation ... • 14. The Importance Of Phonological Awareness Development On... The Importance of Phonological Awareness Development in Preschool Children John Kimball University of Mississippi Introduction Phonemes, which are the individual units of sound, such as /b/, /p/ or /m/, are considered to be the building blocks of language development. The individual phonemes are the first sounds we utter as infants. The babblings of infants comprise of all the phonemes contained in their language. As an infant develops into a toddler, the phonemes come together to form the first words, and eventually these words group together to form sentences. The developments from infancy to the time that these children begin preschool or become preschool age are the beginnings of speech communication. A child must learn the rules of phonology before they can begin to learn to read. Phonology is the study of the unconscious rules governing speech sound production (Adams, Foorman, Lundberg, and Beeler, 1998). This is one of the first topics that teachers begin instructing upon in preschool. Children begin to learn the alphabet and start to associate the sounds with their corresponding letter. This instruction from teacher begins the development of each individual child s phonological awareness. Phonological awareness has been shown to be one of the most reliable predictors and associates of reading ability (Mann, Foy, 2003). Children quickly develop an awareness of phonemes and can learn to attend to and manipulate these speech sounds in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Myth Of The Atlantis Atlantis , one of the most fascinating enigmas of the past, has never ceased to fascinate and make the world dream. 2400 years after this myth was built by the Greek philosopher Plato, researchers revived the ancient legend of this lost paradise myth. The origin of the myth goes back of course to Plato who describes the Atlantis as a civilization barbaric, greedy luxury and whose decadence provoked the anger of the gods who, punishment, caused a cataclysm that engulfs the city. • 19. A Relationship Between Democracy And Making The World A... Is there a relationship between democracy and making the world a more peaceful place? With the increase in the number of democracies post Cold War, this contemporary question is one, which many scholars of International Relations aim to answer. Whilst many scholars may argue that spreading democracy will make the world a more peaceful place, as claimed with the democratic peace theory, it is necessary to look at factors other than democracy that lead to world peace. By understanding factors such as common cultures allowing for international cooperation, the weaknesses of democratic institutions in prohibiting warfare and the importance of economy to states highlight that it is more than just democracy that leads to international harmony, and that perhaps liberal democracies more so than just democracy itself will allow for greater global amity. Arguably peace and democracy are equally ambiguous words. Peace, internationally involves a lack of armed conflicts, encompassing the idea that states will not wage war against each other resulting in physical or economic losses. . However, peace at a state level is when there is civil order within the country and citizens are content with their human rights and civil liberties . As peace seeks to symbolize a wide range of things, peace in this essay is defined at its international level, whereby there is no warfare. Secondly, democracy will be defined in this essay by its modern meaning as the process of developing a recognizably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deepa Kumar starts off with the base the religion stands on, which is the belief that there is only one God. This belief stands as the one of the five fundamentals of Islam known as the five pillars. This pillars is known as the Shaha dah, as a Muslim (a follower of Islam) testifies to the oneness of God by reciting There is no god but God followed by Muhammad is the messenger of God in Arabic. In Islam, Allah is the source of everything including both cosmic and human qualities (discussed later on). In addition, the Divine Qualities of Allah is based on His description in the Quran through His Names and Attributes. This includes that God is neither male nor female and has attributes that represent both feminine and masculine properties (Nasr, Heart of Islam). Although Islam is a monolithic religion, it is not a homogeneous religion. Islam consists of 1.57 billion followers and is widely practiced around the world and consists of many branches within the two main denominations. The two main denominations of Islam are Sunnism and Shi ism. The author studied professional ethics and auditor independence at small and medium firms. The researcher compared ethics with values, and laid emphasis on the credibility as one of the most important ethics element (p. 306). The concept of auditor independence and ethics has significantly changed for the last century. There was a drastic move toward the neutrality in reporting. The main objective of research is to analyze two terms independence of mind and independence in appearance; and examine perceptions of independent auditors (pp. 307 308). The study is important because it investigates professional ethics as the key of quality assurance services. The researcher considered two problems of the study: shifts in regulations affect the auditors behavior, and changes in settings and culture of businesses (p. 305). Literature Review. The author used a systematic review of literature in the research. The researcher examined studies of Gill and Cosseral (1996), The Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and Guidance Note on Independence of Auditors to analyze the word independence in depth. Due to population growth, much pressure has been placed on natural resources and the ecosystem services that are essential to human life (Franks et al. 2012). Rapid changes to the environment such as climate change and the use of natural resources affect the resilience of natural systems. Therefore, appropriate management and assessment of cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine environment from anthropogenic activities is crucial, albeit difficult, as impacts often extend outside of the geographic location of a development. Further, impacts from an action can have a compounding effect on outside systems already under stress from unrelated activities. Although much legislation has been enacted in attempt to buffer stressors caused by anthropogenic land use, environmental impact assessment and management approaches are often reactive, and consider mainly the impacts of individual activities and how to mitigate them (Dales, J 2011, Sonter et al. 2013). Therefore, a more integrated, proactive and holistic approach needs to be applied when it comes to the assessment and management cumulative impacts. Even though she found the key to the garden, she had not found the garden yet. When she found the garden she was so happy, and she actually started to smile, and be happy, she found something that she was really passionate about, and was willing to love and care for. The first casualty was and is always the worker in a capitalist society, according to Marx. See, first of all, Marx saw the many workers as victims who were or are taking advantage of by the owners of the factories and other means of production to satisfy the gain of profit by the few capitalists. Marx argued that under capitalism labor seldom receives more than bare subsistence. According to Marx, the surplus remaining is appropriated by the capitalists as their profits. This was a belief that many laborers, trying to organize to obtain better wages and work conditions during early commercial capitalism, held and acted upon. Arguing that the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles, (500) and that liberal governments and ideology were merely agents of the exploiting owners of property, Marx advocated the abolition of private property and predicted the demise of capitalism after a series of recurring crises. • 40. How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the use of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out key policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote social justice and equality. The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has been convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used because the criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to adults who offend (ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and criminal activities are beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now getting involved in criminal activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals between the ages of 16 21 committing crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why young people choose to commit crimes, these would include problems at home, peer pressure, boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one of the main reasons that young people turn to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young people were the only group that were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict between adults and young people seems to be based around behaviour in public. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This information helps one decipher the metaphorical words of Miss Millay s poem that may be confusing due to the fact it was written in 1921, shortly after World War I. The poem is about her view of life and how one sometimes misses out on opportunities. Readers would possibly be people who want to experience something else in life, but Miss Millay leaves it open for anyone to interpret. The woman in the text suggests that she is satisfied with what she has, but would not mind something different. The purpose of the poem is to explain that some opportunities are not for everyone. Some are taken, while others are given. Miss Millay is trying to get the point across that one must be willing to take risks or chances because they could be gone the next moment. Opportunities pass us by every single day; it is our choice whether or not we decide to take them. One must do a little thinking before they are able to come to this conclusion. Immediately, newspaper, television and radio journalists were reporting, all with different views, opinions and facts. The ways in which the tragedy of September 11th was reported and presented, in newspapers, magazines and television broadcasts was striking and they varied greatly, in particular by The Sun a tabloid newspaper, The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper and a letter published in a commemorative magazine marking the events of that day. The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper, complies mainly with the usual stereotype of itself, that broadsheet s deal very much with the information and actual events of a situation. Smaller picture to text ratios are used and headlines are rather more discreet. The Financial Times has used this in their front page picture to demonstrate how the tragedy has affected people on a much bigger scale across America. The presence of the Statue of Liberty is included to show freedom and hope for the American people, or, indeed to highlight the terrorist attempt to destroy this. Bullet points at the top of the front page also show that The Financial Times is a newspaper which focuses more directly on issues that affect the whole world, some of these issues being, Finance, Travel and Tourism and Political issues. Of particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care. The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care. After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the Patewood Memorial Hospital. Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York counties. When Elizabeth Tudor had succeeded the throne, religious strife, a huge government debt, and failures in war, had caused England to be considered a poor credit risk on the Continent. Though popular and much admired, Elizabeth did not inherit a stable and prosperous country, thus the quest for stability and prosperity became the guiding force of her reign. She constantly avoided foreign entanglements and religious extremism. The motto Elizabeth Semper Eadem Latin, meaning Always the same was highly appropriate. Queen Elizabeth I left behind an extraordinary image of a dazzling era of excitement and achievement, nearly superhuman heroes and daring deeds, with the Queen, larger than life, radiating inspiration at the center of it all. Elizabeth s character was a mystery to most people at the time she inherited the throne. She had learned to keep her own council, control her emotions, and always behaved cautiously, thus being able to disprove all rumors about her. Always dignified and stately, she could be vain, willful, dictatorial, temperamental, and imperious. She had courage, both in her decisions, and in the face of danger. Possessing an innate of humanity, she was not normally cruel, unlike most rulers of her day. Most regarded her to be unusually tolerant in that age of religious conflict. Entering International Markets Essays Entering International Markets Measuring a potential business venture has many aspects which the international manager must be aware of in order to convey the correct information back to the decision makers. Being ignorant to any of the aspects can lead to a false representation of the project, and hence an uninformed decision being passed. In order for a business to survive it must grow. For growth to be optimal, management must first be able to identify the most attractive prospective leads. Concentration should be placed on gathering reliable facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After sifting through the leads and finding the right ones to investigate management must formulate an international marketing plan. This further helps management in locating potential markets for their products. The first step is to use secondary research to find out what the sales potential is in a given market. Asking the questions of need, demand, and support gives one a starting point for research. If we were a company that sold pants we might want to ask the following questions. Is there a need for pants? Is it cold enough there to wear pants? Do people that demand the pants have money? These are the questions that one should ask of potential markets. Table 1 located at the end of the paper shows the statistics that are needed for a general market picture. After gathering the information from the secondary research, the picture of a potential market becomes more evident. However, to make the picture clearer, one must conduct primary research. This research outlines the specifics of the potential market that directly pertain to the product. Robert Douglas book, Penetrating the International Market, addresses the issue of locating potential markets in greater detail.2 [mg1] After finding a lead that contains profitable markets it is necessary to analyze the venture as a whole. The decisions of companies must be based on the facts of reliable sources on all investments. To gather the information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Never having felt love or affection from her own father, her subconscious search for a paternal caretaker lands on Tanaka san, the first male adult to treat her with affection. Later, Sayuri began to have fantasies that Mr. Tanaka would adopt me [her] (20), proving that she considered him her legitimate father figure and desired for him to replace her biological father. Both Sayuri s childhood psychological unfulfillment and Tanaka san s role as her first surrogate father figure cause obsession with Chairman Iwamura. Adversity and emotional problems encountered during early childhood play a great role in shaping later behaviors. Sayuri s lack of love from a father figure in her youth shapes her mind s particular susceptibility to displays of affection from older males.
