Explanation Of The Story Of Sherlock Holmes
1. Explanation of the plot (summary)
Doctor John H. Watson, who served in the war in Afghanistan, needs to share a place to live because
economic issues, and Sherlock Holmes, an eccentric and talented consulting detective, is the person
who becomes his best option. After a few days of living together, Watson finds out Holmes s
profession when he receives a letter from a detective Tobias Gregson, who asks for help to discover
who was the murderer of E. J. Drebber. Watson joins Holmes to the crime scene, and he observes how
Holmes works and gives clues about the murderer to the police only using his observation skills.
Holmes works alone to get more information about the crime, and Watson learns and asks about his
methods, which are explained as if they were a piece of cake. Having discovered who is the murderer,
Holmes sets a trap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict (main problem or situation)
E. J. Drebber, a possible American businessman, is found killed in a hotel room without any injury or
blood on his body even though there are marks of blood surrounding the body. Some clues found are a
woman s ring and the German word Rache , which means revenge, which confuses to the police.
3. Raising actions (events that highlight or stress the conflict)
Sherlock Holmes observes the crime scene and jumps into conclusions based on his observation skills
and works alone to solve the crime. Later, Detective Gregson tells Holmes he thinks Arthur
Champertein is the murderer because Drebber tried to abuse and marry Arthur s sister, but this theory
is refuted when Lestrade lets them know that Joseph Strangerson, Drebber s secretary, was found
dead.
4. Climax (the most important event that comes near the end)
Sherlock Holmes knows who is the killer, but he does not say the name to Lestrade and Gregson
because they could ruin the plan. However, Holmes sets a trap at the moment when the detectives are
with him, and he arrests Jefferson Hope, the murderer, who pretended to be a cab driver all the

Subjugation Of Women In The Good Earth By Pearl S. Buck
It is not an unknown topic that men are seen to be higher ranking or superior than women in society, in
history and even today. Women can be considered weak or less intelligent than men; they have a lower
pay rate and are not taken seriously in the work place. In some countries, women are not allowed to
drive or own their own property or house. They are forced to cover themselves from head to toe by
their husband or father. The issue of subjugation of women all over the world, from the past and the
present, is one important theme delivered in The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. The principal character
in the novel, Wang Lung, starts out as a poor farmer living in Ancient China who gained his wealth
from his land. His wife O lan is one of the many female characters who are treated poorly and are held
in lower status than men by not only Wang Lung, but other men and all of society.
To start with, O lan, Wang Lung s wife, was a very selfless, quiet, hardworking woman who was a
house slave in the House of Hwang, a very rich powerful family. Wang Lung then married her and she
lived on his farm. It is overlooked by Wang Lung throughout the novel how much she has done for
him and their family. Before Wang Lung met O lan, he wanted a wife that will act like a servant and
will deprive him of any responsibilities, and that is exactly what he got. She cleaned the house, took
care of Wang Lung s father and the children, and worked in the fields as well. She is, however, the

Background And Motivation On Online Social Networks
Background and Motivation:
Another form of attack on online social networks is the Social Link Disclosure based attacks, in which
the goal of an attacker is to obtain knowledge of a significant fraction of the links in the network. The
value of participating in an online social network for a user lies majorly in the ability to leverage the
structure of the social network graph. But, knowledge of this social graph by parties other than the
service provider paves the way for powerful data mining, some of which may not be desirable to the
users. The ability to conduct these analyses on social networks is becoming increasingly important in
the data mining, database and theoretical computer science communities [4.32]. Since nodes in social

To analyse the relationship between the lookahead provided by the network provider and the number
of user accounts required to subvert a portion of the network. Analyze the usage of weighted graphs to
define and/or augment a link structure, that makes the structure more robust and resilient to attacks. To
compare the two solutions and conclude on the pros and cons of both.
Results:
Social Link Disclosure based Attack: Links refer to the connections between vertices in a network. In
the context of online social networks, links are the connections between users of the network. But not
all information related to these connections are suitable to be disclosed to the public.
Goal of the Attack: Social link disclosure based attacks aim at disclosing such sensitive information
related to the links of the social network, and thereby discover the link structure of the network.
Although online social networks are a new domain with a not so large research information base ,
knowledge regarding the structure of the network enables the attacker to analyze the network using the
powerful graph mining algorithms that have existed for centuries and have an extremely rich research
information base.
There are several approaches to deal with this problem. In this survey, we consider two approaches to
Privacy Preserving Link Analysis. One, by limiting the lookahead of the interface of an online social
network, as suggested by [ ]. Two, by

Essay On Eulogy
On Monday, October 30 2017, I went to Pruis Hall and heard Alex Sheen, the founder of the nonprofit
Because I Said I Would. His dad, a pharmacist in Cleveland, was diagnosed with stage four lung
cancer. To combat the disease, he went through chemo radiation which seemed to be working, and he
was able to go out with his family for Chinese food. However, the cancer later spread to his liver,
pancreas and brain, and resulted in death. Alex decided to give a eulogy at the funeral, in which he
decided he would start fulfilling more promises. Here, he first said the phrase Because I said I would,
which later led to his going viral on social media with millions of likes and his starting of a blog.
Through class discussions and presentations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he and followers of his blog did not have to fulfill these promise cards, it shows the
importance of being a man of your word and keeping your promises. Although not everyone can
afford so much time or money to fulfill a promise, Alex said people should do what you can with what
you have.
Alex said at the conclusion of his speech that everyone is born with the ability to make and keep a
promise. This goes into our yearlong class discussion of Is a leader born or made? Alex, who believes
everyone can make and keep their promises, would believe that leaders are made. Prior to writing his
blog and eventually starting his nonprofit, Alex had no public works experience, public speaking
experience, or leadership experience. As he said, he was just some guy who worked at a software
company making a six figure income with five figure stock options. He did not need the money, and
thought about stopping, as running a nonprofit in addition to working forty hours a week was a big
time commitment and expensive. That was until one day he went into work and saw a letter on his
desk by an unnamed follower of his saying that she appreciated and was inspired by his blog and work
and said that he inspired her to make a promise of her own. For the past few years, she had been
constantly made fun of for her appearance and for being overweight, so she started cutting herself and
was considering suicide.

Thin Layer Chromatography Of Amino Acid
Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of Amino Acids
Introduction:
Thin layer chromatography (TLC) separates compounds, through migration, from a mixed solution
with the assistance of a solvent and an absorbent strip of cellulose. The purpose of this lab is to allow
students to determine an unknown amino acid by comparing results to six known amino acids (slowest
to fastest: lysine, glycine, alanine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, and leucine) and properly separate a
combined solution of amino acids using the TLC method. But to fully understand the lab, two terms
must be understood: amino acid and protein. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins linked by
peptide bonds that contain both carboxyl and amino functional groups.
The six amino acids used in this experiment: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rf values for known and unknown amino acids. Lanes 2 and 4 were used to identify the unknown
(Unknown T) amino acid with the slight assistance of Lane 1.
Discussion:
Based on my results from Lanes 2 and 4, I predict Unknown T to contain both lysine and glycine
based on the slow reaction/movement the unknown experienced once the solvent was introduced and
the shortest distance it underwent. My prediction was supported with the development of Lane 2. As I
analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the
lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown
was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to
corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely
match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane
4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my
theory as

Cultural Issues Of Assisted Living
To begin, there are two main issues that make it difficult for American Muslims to accept assisted
living facilities for their elderly parents or support the development of assisted living and nursing care
facilities. The first issue has to do with their culture and how unique it is. The Muslim culture has
specific guidelines on how they are supposed to live according to the Quran. One cultural issue is that
Muslims are taught to respect their elders, but it was never explained in the Quran how to do that
exactly. Many Muslims are torn between putting their parents in a nursing home because they can t
give them the right care, or they succumb to peer pressure and do what other Muslims are doing
keeping their parents at home with them, which

Summary Of Lessons For Women By Ban Zhao
Lessons for Women is, as the title states, lessons for women written by Ban Zhao, the first female
historian and also widely considered as the greatest female scholar in Chinese history. From what we
know of her works, Ban Zhao was intelligent she completed the Book of Han for her late father and
brother, a history book covering three hundred years of reign of twelve emperors during the Han
dynasty, and aside from Lessons of Women, which became widely circulated amongst the upper class
women, Ban Zhao also wrote many essays, commentaries, narrative poems, elegies, and so on, in her
own time. It is safe to say that Ban Zhao was fiercely intelligent and influential despite following very

or better than other women at working and whatnot; such qualifications were almost akin to teaching a
woman how to remain goodly in character and remain pure, and Ban Zhao made sure not to invite
competition between ladies which one might consider to be already much more progressive than what
today s society seem to be constantly promoting. This is continued in the next chapter, on Whole
hearted Devotion, in which Ban Zhao must live a pure life and whole heartedly seek to win her
husband s heart (page 61). While still emphasizing on a woman s only goal is to please and be loved
by her husband, Ban Zhao also maintains a woman to remain a good and clean person, both in her
appearance and her character, and not fall into bad habits that might tarnish neither appearance or
character (which might then tarnish their reputation and whole hearted devotion). It is, one might
consider, a guide to surviving a

Coping Mechanisms In Drinking Habits By Banana Yoshimoto
Coping mechanisms vary greatly from person to person and are a defining factor in one s life. For this
reason, Banana Yoshimoto provides the theme that it is necessary to find positive coping mechanisms
in every situation to limit the despair one faces; she does this through her juxtaposition of Yuichi and
Mikage and the use of the scene where the two eat dinner together after Erikos death. Yoshimoto does
this through her use of Yuichi and his drinking habits on pages sixty through sixty three. Yoshimoto
opens the scene with Yuichi returning from the store where he bought food to make dinner with
Mikage. When Yuichi returns to the apartment he is carrying a bag which he lays down with a thud

Mikage accepts assistance from the Tenobis and uses this assistance to progress through her grief
faster and return to normalcy much faster than Yuichi can with his negative coping mechanisms. This
is important because it shows what one should do when put into an unfortunate circumstance. It also
shows that Yoshimoto wants people to behave like this despite it being out of the cultural norm.
Yoshimoto also shows how important it is to talk to people after the death of a loved one as Mikage
immediately accepts assistance from the Tenobis. Yuichi, on the other hand, refuses to call Mikage for
multiple months, only leading him to further

Franz Chopin Research Paper
Frédéric François Chopin (1 March 1810 17 October 1849) was a genius Polish composer and a
virtuoso pianist during the Romantic period of piano mainly creating solo piano compositions. Chopin
is a worldwide known piano composer who led his era and is nationally known whose poetic genius
was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation. (qtd. The Romantic
Generation p. 284) Throughout his career, Chopin was able to change the perceived viewpoint of
musical articulation and composition. His music contains many mysteries and wonders that involve a

Musical improvisation is the creative activity of immediate musical composition, which combines
performance with communication of emotions and instrumental technique as well as spontaneous
response to other musicians. (qtd. From Wikipedia). Chopin used many of his techniques of
improvisations to meet the audience s expectations as well as maintaining the conventions of musical
form. After making his early combined works for piano and orchestra, he didn t compose any
orchestral musics for a while until of his late works of sonatas of the piano and cello. Chopin s
individuality was the advantage of his flexibility of his handling of four bar phrases as a structural
unit. Many of the works of Chopin was intended for concert performances. Chopin created many
different compositions varying in style and technique including: mazurkas, waltzes, polonaises,
nocturnes, and études. Chopin s mazurkas and waltzes were all in straightforward ternary or episodic
form. Chopin s polonaises showed the development and advancement of his Polish predecessors. And
his 21 nocturnes were posing of great emotional depth despite the fact the structure was so important
in these types of pieces. And finally, Chopin s études were the basic teachings of his own technique of
piano playing. Many of these innovations were sounding as mysterious and beautiful as they were

In Amy Tan s book The Joy Luck Club, the theme of the American Dream, which is the belief that

which was hung on the all over the sick child s head. She continued with the ritual but unfortunately
the child died in the morning. These two situations that happened in the books has much to do with
culture and traditions that the immigrants in the stories believe in and still practiced, no matter where
they resided. Lena s mother felt that having a house too high up could ward of good spirits and would
not bring good luck to the family, which is commonly known as the practice of Feng Shui. In Ernesto

members believe in a higher spirit and using the Virgin of Guadalupe as a median and symbol for
spiritual enlightenment.
In Amy Tan s book, the daughters experienced relationships with American men, and even married
some. In Rose Hsu Jordan s case she met Ted Jordan and started to date him. When Ted invited Rose

Analysis of Night and Fog Essay
The effective war film is often the one in which the action begins after the war, when there is nothing
but ruins and desolation everywhere...
Francois Truffaut
Francois Truffaut continued on to say that Alain Resnais Night and Fog, made in 1955, was the
greatest film ever made . The 30 minute film based on the horrors of the Holocaust and Nazi
concentration camps after World War II combines Resnais own cinematography with original images
and footage of the captives in their unfathomable state. The film is lead with a somber narrative that
not only accompanies the sobering images being shown but both compliments them and puts them
into perspective. Carl R. Plantigna s chapter from his book Rhetoric and Representation in ... Show

For example, the shot at approximately 9:05 that shows an image of naked, skeletal prisoners waiting
in line where the voice over narrates nudity strips the inmates of all pride in one stroke demonstrates
this authoritative position as the voice is dry and matter of fact in contrast to the horrifying image, yet
it is somber with empathy. Together with image choice, music and cinematography, this Voice of God
narration personifies the films perspective in order to not only show but to explain to the viewers the
meaning of what is on the screen.
Plantigna deliberates on various differences between the fiction and non fiction filmmaker,
particularly the role of imagination to the two differing styles of film. He discusses that the fiction
filmmaker freely creates imaginative events , where the non fiction filmmaker portrays or makes
explicit claims about actual historical events (104). He then puts forth the idea that imagination is also
important for the non fiction filmmaker as he as the creator decides how to represent historical events
(104). This is demonstrated in shot 237 where Resnais camera pans over the ceiling of a gas chamber
that has been carved in and scored by human fingernails and the voice over narrates, the only sign but
you have to know is this ceiling, dug into by fingernails . Here, Resnais using his imaginative ability,

How Does George Orwell Use Total Control In Animal Farm
Imagine being convicted of a crime you did not commit. When you go to testify against the
accusation, there is evidence that proves you are guilty. Faked evidence. Photos of you in places you
were not. Forged documents with your signature on them. You are found guilty and charged to life in
prison. For crimes you did not do. This was the reality of almost twenty million Russians during half a
century during the Soviet reign. Government officials would fake photos, documents and in one
instance get the nazis to lie and say the person in question was a spy for them. This was all so none of
the arrests would look like they were faked or just because the party disliked the person or their ideas.

1860 Economic Growth
The United States government encouraged economic growth greatly between the years 1860 1900.
The United States government during the Civil War era was run by the Republicans. The Republicans
held the majority in Congress in 1860 because the southern states had seceded from the Union. This
majority gave the republicans the power to implement the policies in their platform which was based
on the American System. The Republican platform of 1860 was centered on encouraging economic
growth and developing a national economy. A few specific policies that the Republicans passed were
the Pacific Railway Act, the Morill Tariff, and the Morill Land Grant Act. Each of these three policies
were aimed at encouraging economic growth in our nation. The republicans passed many laws with
the sole purpose of encouraging economic growth and developing a strong economy. The US
government could be considered somewhat laissez faire in their neglect to place much needed
regulations on big business and corporations. Despite this fact, the United States government was
definitely not laissez faire during this time period due to the fact that they took a very active role in
our nation s economy. Without the policies passed by the national government during this time period,

Title: Best gap wedge
With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your
wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when
playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf
wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from
anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise
between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because
the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10
degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a new club to fill the
gap , and of course, encourage us to buy more products.

Historical Allusion
We are all bits and pieces of history and literature and international law. Byron, Tom Paine,
Machiavelli, or Christ, it s here. (Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury page 152)
Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat, a government official, a philosopher, a
humanist and an author during the Renaissances. Today, Machiavelli is known as the father of modern
political theory and these such theories are most conspicuous in his short book, The Prince . The main
objective as to why Machiavelli composed The Prince, was that he wanted a position within the
government, so he needed to win the support of Lorenzo de Medici who at this time was the governor
of Florence. Therefore, he dedicated this book which was a guideline for future rulers about how an
individual can acquire and maintain political power, to Medici thinking it would give him the position
of an advisor. However, when Medici read the book he perceived it differently, so word got around
that Machiavelli s book, The Prince was unethical and fiendish. For the remaining fourteen years of

BRUCE LEE
Bruce Lee was perhaps the greatest Martial Artist ever. He was born in San Francisco, California on
November 27th, 1940. A few months after his birth, Bruce and his family move back to Hong Kong.
Bruce starred in a number of films as a child. His first starring role was actually when he was six years
old! It was a role in a film titled quot;Little Orphan Sam quot;.
At the age of 12, Bruce begins taking Martial Arts instruction from the legendary Sifu Yap Man, a
master of the art of quot;Wing Chun quot; gung fu. During the next few years, when he was not
practicing his art, he could be found in the movie studios with his father. At the age of 18, due to the
numerous streetfights he was involved in, Bruce alone was forced ... Show more content on

He also gets a small role in the film quot;Marlowe quot;. Sometime after the film quot;Marlowe quot;
is made, Bruce marries Linda. Months later, he opens his first quot;Jun Fan Institute quot;, where he
continues to share his knowledge of Martial Arts.
Word spreads that Bruce Lee is teaching the quot;sacred quot; Martial Arts to foreigners. Bruce is
quot;warned quot; by various other instructors of his quot;violation of the sacred law quot;. According
to the instructors, it was considered forbidden to teach the quot;sacred quot; Martial Arts to anyone
who wasn t of Asian decent. Bruce argued this, saying that he wanted to show the beauty of their
culture to the world. The instructors laid down an ultimatium. Bruce was to either teach only Asians,
or stop teaching altogether. Bruce refused their instructions, vowing to teach whoever wanted to learn.
Needless to say, the instructors were not pleased, and challenged Bruce to fight Wong Jack Man,
another Martial Arts master in the area. The rules were set, if Bruce lost, he was to stop teaching. If he
won, he would be able to teach who he pleased. There has been alot of speculation concerning the true
outcome of this battle, even some 25 years later. Publicly, all that is known, is that Bruce won, barely.
After this fight, Bruce decides to re evaluate his fighting technique, because the fight quot;should have
been over in seconds quot;. This

The Connection Between Food And Identity
Food is closely related to human beings as it is one of the daily necessities that cannot be omitted.
Food offers in different places varies due to the differences in geographical location, weather, identity,
culture, availability of ingredients, purpose, to name but a few. Hence food can indeed reflects the
identity of those who consumes it because it is related to them intently. However, there is not much
investigation in the relationship between Identity and food. One of the major reasons is that food
seems to be too informal to be considered in an academic context. Thus I would like to use this
opportunity to illustrate the connection between food and identity. In this essay, I would focus on
explaining how Asian identity, particularly Hong Kong people (Chinese) and Vietnamese identities,
are expressed in food and compare their similarities and differences.
In Hong Kong, Pancai represents two identities in Hong Kong during different period of time: Punti
ethnic identity before 1997 and Hong Kong people identity around decolonization in 1997. Pancai
used to be prepared and consumed by the Punti Cantonese villagers living in the New Territories
exclusively during celebrations, festivals or family gatherings. This differentiates them from Hakka
and Tanka villages who were also living around as they do not eat Pancai. Moreover, only if you are
the kin related to the Cantonese villagers, you can have the rights and obligation to enjoy Pancai, and
this makes eating Pancai an

Isolation In The Tempest
How your story is thematically linked to The Tempest?
For my English ISP, I will be rewriting scene I act I to act I scene II line 230, from a Shakespeare
written theme, converted into a star wars and more futuristic based theme. In the Shakespearean
comedy/ romance, The Tempest is a story which frequently hints many examples of the theme of
isolation, through the setting of the play. Firstly, the island is probably the biggest example of isolation
where the Protagonist: Prospero and Miranda become stranded on an island after being usurped by
Antonio: Prospero s brother. This is where aspects of star wars also suggest a similar vison of The
Tempest. Following on the concept of isolation, Star wars consist where characters are trapped a
galaxy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thematically, The Tempest also embodies all romance, destruction and many examples of power
struggle. Through the setting of the play, I found that the Tempest had been plotted specifically
through a historically significant era when Europe began to explore the New World. Personally, I
found that Shakespeare tried to incorporate all these elements to contribute in the finalizing and
completing the play, yet I believed that some elements were not used to its fullest potential which
resulted in a lesser impact of what Shakespeare would have hoped. Firstly, one the most frustrating
issues I had with the play, was the lack of development of the characters. Due to the entirely and
having it set all in one day, many of the character were not quite developed enough. Personally,
characters such as Alonso, Antonio, Trinculo and Stephano lacked development which resulted in
ambiguity and made the play ultimately less enjoyable. Above all, this also made the audience often
having to interpret personalities of characters based on the limited actions and dialogue that is
presented. In my revision, to improve this element of the play, I will be sure to develop the characters
more thoroughly which ultimately means including

Bandon Group, Integrated case study Essay
Integrated Case Study: Bandon Group, Inc. (Determining Feasibility of an ERP System and Supplier

continuation of Bandon Group Inc. integrated case study. This part of the case study mines feasibility
of an ERP system at Bandon Group and evaluate alternative ERP and CRM packages for Bandon

Adding to their notes, they said that CRM offers customization, simplicity, and convenience for
completing transactions, regardless of the channel used for interaction. Sumner (2005) share their
idea. The main characteristics he distinguished CRM facilitates customer contact and call list
management, It maintains information on customer contacts in a database and forecast customer s
needs, It organizes marketing campaigns, Enables queries to a product marketing database, Delivers
on line systems that enables customers to configure products on line, Handles customers services. It
my recommendation to Bandon Group to implement EPR firs and CRM follows because ERP
provides CRM software. Conceptually, ERP covers all the basic business process but CRM systems
focus specifically on processes at the customer interface (Schubert, 2010). The current situation at
Bandon Group is not limited to customer relationship or the problem of Bandon Group is not limited
to lack of sales and marketing data, the billing system, web enabled support system, better invoice or
the integration of the software but the company and its process need overall business restructure and
re engineering because that is all about ERP. Step 9: Determining ERP/CRM design issues Business
processing workloads are among the most demanding workloads in the enterprise.

Moving To Cancun
Imagine moving to a foreign out of the blue, and leaving everything you ve ever known. I will show
you my experience and how it contributed to my everyday life. I can t thank God enough for giving
my family the opportunity to live in a foreign country, but there were struggles along the way.
In the spring of 2010, my parents went on a trip to Cancun, Mexico, and had a blast. They spent their
trip tasting new foods, enjoying the waterfront, and getting a break from the chaos back home. My
parents were in love with Cancun and couldn t wait to take my sister and me there. Immediately my

It is going to be okay, we will get through this as a family. Mom said, softly.
The ceaseless comfort from my mom really encouraged me to embrace it and be thankful for this
experience. Finally, July 1st, 2010 rolled around and we took off, I tried to sleep most of the air time
to get Costa Rica off my mind and wake up from this nightmare. Landing and stepping foot in Costa
Rica was mostly a blur. We drove home from the airport to our condo in the evening and I just cried. It
was soon the end of August which meant school was right around the corner. I wasn t too excited, but
I was a little anxious to see what God had in store for me. We hopped in the car, and were on the way.
I walked into my new school, Country Day, and acknowledged the wind carried the sound of the
chitter chatter of my fellow classmates, lockers slamming as hard as nails and the howling of the
spider monkey. The halls were outdoor and you could see the never ending mountains and feel the
gentle breeze swaying back and forth. I enjoyed the first day and couldn t wait to go back for more.
Throughout the day, I met someone special, someone who would soon to be my best friend, partner in
crime, my other half, Sibley. She helped me see the good in situations and inspired me to be outgoing
and carefree. Our families became best friends and went on adventure after adventure together. The

Florida Invasive Species Essay
Invasive species in Florida
Florida, a treasure trove of many, many species of animals and diverse wildlife. How many of those,
Florida species are actually native to Florida though? If you walk outside you will probably see lizards
everywhere, you know, the brown ones. Well, what if I told you, that they are not actually native to
Florida? Those lizards are called Brown Anoles, and they are actually from Cuba and the Bahamas.
This is just one example of the many invasive species, which compete with Florida s native species for
food, resources and territories everyday. A few more examples of invasive species that are harmful to
our wildlife are the Cuban tree frog, which is a threat to not only other frogs but toads and lizards as
well, the Burmese python, which is invading the everglades, and the air potato, which is slowly
creeping its way up through Florida, tree to tree. The Cuban tree frog, true to its name, originates in
Cuba and was brought here through the Caribbean (wec.ufl.edu), probably by cargo or cruise ships,
docking at our ports. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According UF s Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants, the Air potato is both on the Florida Noxious
weed list and is listed as one of Florida s most invasive plant Species since the 1990 s. The air potato
is originally from the tropics of Asia (CAIP) and is heart shaped in appearance. The reason the air
potato is considered a harmful species is because it is parasitic. The potato starts its journey in the
ground and continues upward in vine form to find a host to latch onto. Once the vine finds a host tree,
bush, or other plant, it begins by latching itself onto the outermost leaves, twigs, and limbs. Once the
vine has fully attached itself, it drains nutrients from the fleshy parts of the host, thereby helping itself
survive and harming the host, rendering itself with the label,

Social Psychology and Multicultural Psychology Paper
i. Define social psychology.
Social psychology is the science that aims to determine how people think about, relate to, feel about,
and influence one another. Social psychology is a branch of study on social influence, how individuals
have an influence on one another. Social influence is noted to affect trivial behaviours, such as making
paper airplanes in class, as well as important behaviour, such as giving in to majority opinion over one
s judgement. It is an attempt to understand and lay down how thought, behaviour, feeling of a person
is affected by the actual, implied, imagined, presence of other people.

For example, a person bending to the majority people s decision over one s judgment on an issue is a
social influence by the presence of others. Second, the phrase actual presence of others implies a
physical appearance in the place to influence thought or feelings. Imagined presence makes people
regulate their behaviour according to the reactions that they imagine people will give about the
behaviour. The implied presence is demonstrated by the people automatically obeying social artefacts,
such as streetlights, or other objects such as a black, may imply the presence of a person.
ii. Describe the primary research strategies used in social psychology and give an example of each.
There are three different types of primary research strategies that can be used with social psychology.
They are descriptive, experimental, and correlation research methods. The research methods differ in
the kind of hypothesis each investigates, and the issues it raise.

The Attacks on September 11th 2001
September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to
be a freak accident turned into a horrific nightmare for our country, America was under attack. On the
morning of the attacks a group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial jetliners headed
to California and purposively crashed two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The last
plane fell into a Pennsylvania field never reaching its final destination, The White House. These
attacks on the United States were formulated by the Islamic culture that has been planning this for
many years. Shortly after these Twin Towers fell, the United States started mourning for the loss of
those citizens killed in the violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit
door. The hijackers attempted knocking the passengers off balance by pitching the nose of the airplane
up and down. The passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the hijacker knew they
were about to break through. The flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot
decided to aim the airplane going 580 miles per hour into an abandoned field only about twenty
minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on attacking the White House
(CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the demolition many
engineers, contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with
volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people were very concerned with recovering any
survivors that were trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the
wreckage needed to be moved from the scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108
thousand trucks were used to transport materials to multiple facilities so that the wreckage can be
investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the hijackers and their planes.
Only six survivors were pulled out of the fallen towers and these were

Shadow Reflection
The student I chose to follow for a shadow study is a junior girl who has been very open in class about
expressing her opinion. The student is in my cooperating teacher s Basic Geometry class during
second block. I picked this particular student because my cooperating teacher told me a story about
how last year this student yelled at a substitute teacher while he was absent and walked out of class.
Also, I have seen how this student interacts with her peers in my cooperating teacher s classroom. I
found it interesting to see how the other teachers work with her. This will give me an insight on how
to structure the class when I teach. I also have this student s younger sister in Algebra I. She is a
freshman, and I never would have guessed that they were sisters until she told me. The schedule is a
block schedule, so each class is ninety minutes except seminar at the end of the day, which is thirty
minutes. Since seminar is a study hall, I decided not to shadow her during that class.
I attempted to shadow this student on a white day because she has my cooperating teacher s class. I
showed up to the student s first block on Tuesday. The teacher informed me that the student usually
shows up early to class, but neither of us had seen her. When the bell rang, I decided to stay and see if
she showed up. I was informed that she was marked absent. That day in Communications, the students
were to have a reading day, which means that the whole ninety minute class the students were to

During this semester I was lucky to be placed at Mink Shoals in a fifth grade class. I taught a total of

math lesson. They took a pre test and a post test. I knew that math was a good subject for about half of
the class, and half of the class struggled. I knew this was going to be difficult to teach. Before I taught
my lesson I did a lot of planning, but before I planned I worked with students every day in a math
group. These math groups showed me what the students understood and did not understand. When I

No students like to take tests, especially two during the same lesson. To start out, I informed the
students they would be playing a game, but first they had to take a small test. The students did not

clear, and that the students were engaged and focused. I did my best to sound uplifting. During my
lesson, I noticed that all students seemed to be engaged and eager to play the game. When I created
my pre test and posttest, I picked a total of twenty questions. Each test contained the same problems,
but in a different order. This way I could see what the students learned during the review and the
game. During the review, I made up random problems, and had students take turns coming up to the
board to teach the problems to the class. This was a good way to show different strategies and to get
the students moving. All students wanted to teach their peers so they did their best to get the problem

  • 3. Subjugation Of Women In The Good Earth By Pearl S. Buck It is not an unknown topic that men are seen to be higher ranking or superior than women in society, in history and even today. Women can be considered weak or less intelligent than men; they have a lower pay rate and are not taken seriously in the work place. In some countries, women are not allowed to drive or own their own property or house. They are forced to cover themselves from head to toe by their husband or father. The issue of subjugation of women all over the world, from the past and the present, is one important theme delivered in The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. The principal character in the novel, Wang Lung, starts out as a poor farmer living in Ancient China who gained his wealth from his land. His wife O lan is one of the many female characters who are treated poorly and are held in lower status than men by not only Wang Lung, but other men and all of society. To start with, O lan, Wang Lung s wife, was a very selfless, quiet, hardworking woman who was a house slave in the House of Hwang, a very rich powerful family. Wang Lung then married her and she lived on his farm. It is overlooked by Wang Lung throughout the novel how much she has done for him and their family. Before Wang Lung met O lan, he wanted a wife that will act like a servant and will deprive him of any responsibilities, and that is exactly what he got. She cleaned the house, took care of Wang Lung s father and the children, and worked in the fields as well. She is, however, the only positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Background And Motivation On Online Social Networks Background and Motivation: Another form of attack on online social networks is the Social Link Disclosure based attacks, in which the goal of an attacker is to obtain knowledge of a significant fraction of the links in the network. The value of participating in an online social network for a user lies majorly in the ability to leverage the structure of the social network graph. But, knowledge of this social graph by parties other than the service provider paves the way for powerful data mining, some of which may not be desirable to the users. The ability to conduct these analyses on social networks is becoming increasingly important in the data mining, database and theoretical computer science communities [4.32]. Since nodes in social ... To analyse the relationship between the lookahead provided by the network provider and the number of user accounts required to subvert a portion of the network. Analyze the usage of weighted graphs to define and/or augment a link structure, that makes the structure more robust and resilient to attacks. To compare the two solutions and conclude on the pros and cons of both. Results: Social Link Disclosure based Attack: Links refer to the connections between vertices in a network. In the context of online social networks, links are the connections between users of the network. But not all information related to these connections are suitable to be disclosed to the public. Goal of the Attack: Social link disclosure based attacks aim at disclosing such sensitive information related to the links of the social network, and thereby discover the link structure of the network. Although online social networks are a new domain with a not so large research information base , knowledge regarding the structure of the network enables the attacker to analyze the network using the powerful graph mining algorithms that have existed for centuries and have an extremely rich research information base. There are several approaches to deal with this problem. In this survey, we consider two approaches to Privacy Preserving Link Analysis. One, by limiting the lookahead of the interface of an online social network, as suggested by [ ]. Two, by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay On Eulogy On Monday, October 30 2017, I went to Pruis Hall and heard Alex Sheen, the founder of the nonprofit Because I Said I Would. His dad, a pharmacist in Cleveland, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. To combat the disease, he went through chemo radiation which seemed to be working, and he was able to go out with his family for Chinese food. However, the cancer later spread to his liver, pancreas and brain, and resulted in death. Alex decided to give a eulogy at the funeral, in which he decided he would start fulfilling more promises. Here, he first said the phrase Because I said I would, which later led to his going viral on social media with millions of likes and his starting of a blog. Although he and followers of his blog did not have to fulfill these promise cards, it shows the importance of being a man of your word and keeping your promises. Although not everyone can afford so much time or money to fulfill a promise, Alex said people should do what you can with what you have. Alex said at the conclusion of his speech that everyone is born with the ability to make and keep a promise. This goes into our yearlong class discussion of Is a leader born or made? Alex, who believes everyone can make and keep their promises, would believe that leaders are made. Prior to writing his blog and eventually starting his nonprofit, Alex had no public works experience, public speaking experience, or leadership experience. As he said, he was just some guy who worked at a software company making a six figure income with five figure stock options. He did not need the money, and thought about stopping, as running a nonprofit in addition to working forty hours a week was a big time commitment and expensive. That was until one day he went into work and saw a letter on his desk by an unnamed follower of his saying that she appreciated and was inspired by his blog and work and said that he inspired her to make a promise of her own. For the past few years, she had been constantly made fun of for her appearance and for being overweight, so she started cutting herself and was considering suicide. ... • 7. Thin Layer Chromatography Of Amino Acid Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of Amino Acids Introduction: Thin layer chromatography (TLC) separates compounds, through migration, from a mixed solution with the assistance of a solvent and an absorbent strip of cellulose. The purpose of this lab is to allow students to determine an unknown amino acid by comparing results to six known amino acids (slowest to fastest: lysine, glycine, alanine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, and leucine) and properly separate a combined solution of amino acids using the TLC method. But to fully understand the lab, two terms must be understood: amino acid and protein. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins linked by peptide bonds that contain both carboxyl and amino functional groups. The six amino acids used in this experiment: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rf values for known and unknown amino acids. Lanes 2 and 4 were used to identify the unknown (Unknown T) amino acid with the slight assistance of Lane 1. Discussion: Based on my results from Lanes 2 and 4, I predict Unknown T to contain both lysine and glycine based on the slow reaction/movement the unknown experienced once the solvent was introduced and the shortest distance it underwent. My prediction was supported with the development of Lane 2. As I analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane 4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my theory as ... Cultural Issues Of Assisted Living To begin, there are two main issues that make it difficult for American Muslims to accept assisted living facilities for their elderly parents or support the development of assisted living and nursing care facilities. The first issue has to do with their culture and how unique it is. The Muslim culture has specific guidelines on how they are supposed to live according to the Quran. One cultural issue is that Muslims are taught to respect their elders, but it was never explained in the Quran how to do that exactly. Many Muslims are torn between putting their parents in a nursing home because they can t give them the right care, or they succumb to peer pressure and do what other Muslims are doing keeping their parents at home with them, which ... This is continued in the next chapter, on Whole hearted Devotion, in which Ban Zhao must live a pure life and whole heartedly seek to win her husband s heart (page 61). While still emphasizing on a woman s only goal is to please and be loved by her husband, Ban Zhao also maintains a woman to remain a good and clean person, both in her appearance and her character, and not fall into bad habits that might tarnish neither appearance or character (which might then tarnish their reputation and whole hearted devotion). For this reason, Banana Yoshimoto provides the theme that it is necessary to find positive coping mechanisms in every situation to limit the despair one faces; she does this through her juxtaposition of Yuichi and Mikage and the use of the scene where the two eat dinner together after Erikos death. Yoshimoto does this through her use of Yuichi and his drinking habits on pages sixty through sixty three. Musical improvisation is the creative activity of immediate musical composition, which combines performance with communication of emotions and instrumental technique as well as spontaneous response to other musicians. (qtd. From Wikipedia). Chopin used many of his techniques of improvisations to meet the audience s expectations as well as maintaining the conventions of musical form. After making his early combined works for piano and orchestra, he didn t compose any orchestral musics for a while until of his late works of sonatas of the piano and cello. Chopin s individuality was the advantage of his flexibility of his handling of four bar phrases as a structural unit. Many of the works of Chopin was intended for concert performances. Chopin created many different compositions varying in style and technique including: mazurkas, waltzes, polonaises, nocturnes, and études. Chopin s mazurkas and waltzes were all in straightforward ternary or episodic form. Chopin s polonaises showed the development and advancement of his Polish predecessors. And his 21 nocturnes were posing of great emotional depth despite the fact the structure was so important in these types of pieces. • 14. Analysis of Night and Fog Essay The effective war film is often the one in which the action begins after the war, when there is nothing but ruins and desolation everywhere... Francois Truffaut Francois Truffaut continued on to say that Alain Resnais Night and Fog, made in 1955, was the greatest film ever made . The 30 minute film based on the horrors of the Holocaust and Nazi concentration camps after World War II combines Resnais own cinematography with original images and footage of the captives in their unfathomable state. The film is lead with a somber narrative that not only accompanies the sobering images being shown but both compliments them and puts them into perspective. Carl R. For example, the shot at approximately 9:05 that shows an image of naked, skeletal prisoners waiting in line where the voice over narrates nudity strips the inmates of all pride in one stroke demonstrates this authoritative position as the voice is dry and matter of fact in contrast to the horrifying image, yet it is somber with empathy. Together with image choice, music and cinematography, this Voice of God narration personifies the films perspective in order to not only show but to explain to the viewers the meaning of what is on the screen. Plantigna deliberates on various differences between the fiction and non fiction filmmaker, particularly the role of imagination to the two differing styles of film. He discusses that the fiction filmmaker freely creates imaginative events , where the non fiction filmmaker portrays or makes explicit claims about actual historical events (104). He then puts forth the idea that imagination is also important for the non fiction filmmaker as he as the creator decides how to represent historical events (104). This is demonstrated in shot 237 where Resnais camera pans over the ceiling of a gas chamber that has been carved in and scored by human fingernails and the voice over narrates, the only sign but you have to know is this ceiling, dug into by fingernails . Here, Resnais using his imaginative ability, has seamlessly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States government during the Civil War era was run by the Republicans. The Republicans held the majority in Congress in 1860 because the southern states had seceded from the Union. This majority gave the republicans the power to implement the policies in their platform which was based on the American System. The Republican platform of 1860 was centered on encouraging economic growth and developing a national economy. A few specific policies that the Republicans passed were the Pacific Railway Act, the Morill Tariff, and the Morill Land Grant Act. Each of these three policies were aimed at encouraging economic growth in our nation. The republicans passed many laws with the sole purpose of encouraging economic growth and developing a strong economy. The US government could be considered somewhat laissez faire in their neglect to place much needed regulations on big business and corporations. Despite this fact, the United States government was definitely not laissez faire during this time period due to the fact that they took a very active role in our nation s economy. Essay On Gap Wedge Goal: Review post Total word count in this document: 1011 Title: Best gap wedge With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10 degrees. (Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury page 152) Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat, a government official, a philosopher, a humanist and an author during the Renaissances. Today, Machiavelli is known as the father of modern political theory and these such theories are most conspicuous in his short book, The Prince . The main objective as to why Machiavelli composed The Prince, was that he wanted a position within the government, so he needed to win the support of Lorenzo de Medici who at this time was the governor of Florence. Therefore, he dedicated this book which was a guideline for future rulers about how an individual can acquire and maintain political power, to Medici thinking it would give him the position of an advisor. However, when Medici read the book he perceived it differently, so word got around that Machiavelli s book, The Prince was unethical and fiendish. In this essay, I would focus on explaining how Asian identity, particularly Hong Kong people (Chinese) and Vietnamese identities, are expressed in food and compare their similarities and differences. In Hong Kong, Pancai represents two identities in Hong Kong during different period of time: Punti ethnic identity before 1997 and Hong Kong people identity around decolonization in 1997. Firstly, one the most frustrating issues I had with the play, was the lack of development of the characters. Due to the entirely and having it set all in one day, many of the character were not quite developed enough. Personally, characters such as Alonso, Antonio, Trinculo and Stephano lacked development which resulted in ambiguity and made the play ultimately less enjoyable.
