Abstract The advent of software defined networking enables flexible, reliable and feature rich
control planes for data center networks. However, the tight coupling of centralized control and
complete visibility leads to a wide range of issues among which scalability has risen to prominence.
We observe that data center traffic is usually highly skewed and thus edge switches can be
grouped according to traffic locality. As a result, the workload of the central controller could be
highly reduced if we carry out distributed control inside those groups. Based on the above
observation, we present LazyCtrl, a novel hybrid control plane design for data center networks.
LazyCtrl aims at bringing laziness to the central controller by dynamically devolving most of the
control tasks to independent switch groups to process frequent intra group events using distributed
control mechanisms, while handling rare inter group or other specified events by the controller.
We implement LazyCtrl and build a prototypebased on Open vSwich and Floodlight. Trace driven
experiments on our prototype show that an effective switch grouping is easy to maintain in multi
tenant clouds and the central controller can be significantly shielded by staying lazy, with its
workload

Fish Reader Response Criticism
Fish s Reader Response Criticism is composed of two interdependent ideas: first, that the
meaning of texts is shaped by the reading experience itself, and second, that these meanings
cannot be judged to be correct or incorrect, but merely belonging to one interpretive community
or another. The first idea may be identified as the executive aspect of Reader Response Criticism
because it analyzes the act of reading, while the second idea is the epistemological aspect of the
theory because it circumscribes the knowledge we can acquire about a text to the merely relative.
Studied independently, each aspect of Reader Response Theory offers by itself strong arguments
countervailing the formalist stance of the New Critics. But as we will see,... Show more content on

This excerpt begins at the level of innate human concepts (flesh) and proceeds through the more
concrete level of medical terminology (muscles, blood, epidermis) and onwards through an
evocative metaphor (red cloud). Before the reader reaches the final clause ( whose soul is lightning
), he has built up an expectation that a culminating trope will be used to close the sentence, as is
usual. Instead, the fragment ends with whose soul is lightning which refers not to the red cloud,
but to the flesh itself. In other words, the red cloud is not the object of the concluding clause, but
a psychological multiplier: the reader sees a red cloud (associated with storms) and then sees
lightning exacerbated by the immediately preceding image. Now the reader possesses a clear
mental picture of the passionate flesh, but the strange syntax (both in French and English) leaves
him uncertain about what exactly the text has said: is lightning the soul of the flesh? Is the soul
the lightning emitted by the flesh? This is an important point is the soul passion? Or is passion
simply one of several manifestations of the soul? Yourcenar has deliberately shrouded this
discussion in complex syntax because the distinction itself confounds us. If you are lost as to what
exactly the text says right now, Yourcenar has achieved her aim. Now take a look at Grace Frick s
artful translation of the same text:
The flesh itself, that amazing instrument of muscles, blood, and skin, that

Designing A Project Management Software
Should every building business invest in the latest integrated construction management software or
are construction software solutions considered an unnecessary business expenditure? Innovative
construction accounting software plays an important role and today the majority of companies

A Raisin In The Sun Literary Analysis
A Raisin In The Sun marked a great change in history for many. ..The play presaged the
revolution in black and women s consciousness as said by Robert Nemiroff(pg 1 intro). Not only
was the characteristics of women challenged but so were the racial/social, and Southern ways of
the world. After finally being published on to broadway with a black cast and production, A
Raisin In The Sun made its way to be one of the greatest of all time. Although along the way the
general perception of the play fondled and changed many times in the eyes of many generations.

The Qing Dynasty And Gupta Empire Women s Rights
Christopher Valdez
Period 2A
Qing Dynasty and Gupta Empire Women s Rights Women s rights were not the same in all
countries during the time of the Qing dynasty and Gupta Empire. How did women s rights in the
Qing dynasty compare to those in of India s Gupta Empire? Women all around the world were
treated differently. Some women were treated better than others but the main focus on this research
paper is about the Qing dynasty and Gupta Empire.
The Qing dynasty has historical background as like many other cultures. In 1644 Manchus,
better known as the Qing dynasty, conquered the Ming state and established their own Qing or
Pure dynasty among men lasting over three hundred years (Metmusem.org). The rise of the
Qing dynasty is provided by the story of a man named Li Zicheng. Li Zicheng was an ironworker
who lost his job along many other government paid employees. This occurred because the
emperor needed money for more troops in battle to defend Beijing against the attacks the
powerful attacks of the Manchus, better known as the Qing dynasty today. By the year of 1630 Li
had found a job as a soldier; however, since the government couldn t pay them and provided them
what needed, Li decided to quit. After that Li won the trust of several thousand Chinese revels and
lead them into the towns capturing them and added young men into their army. Li and his army
won support of more people by making powerful promises of ending imperial abuses. With more

Death By Neil Degrasse Tyson Analysis
By reading the book Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, one can deduce that
the author, Neil deGrasse Tyson, is man of intelligence with a love for the ways of the universe.
He clearly has a passion for what he does, as he immerses himself in his personal interests by
giving public lectures about the cosmos (346). He values his personal interest so much that he
has solved how long it would take to cook a 16 inch pepperoni pizza on Venus; the answer is
seven seconds (80). Tyson obviously has a strong enthusiasm for what he does as an astrophysicist
and has spent many years in this field. Throughout the book, he explains concepts in ways that the
reader is able to understand and relate to. He uses simple topics to help explain our complex
universe. For example, he introduces the idea of a constant and uses... Show more content on

The reader learns more about Tyson through the chapter Holy Wars, in which he explains his
beliefs on God and religion. While the author does not indicate that he is an atheist, the reader is
drawn to the conclusion that he does not believe in God. He states that if the Bible had ever been
shown to be a rich source of scientific answers and understanding, [scientists] would be mining it
daily for cosmic discovery (352). This statement evidently states that the Bible holds no valuable
information with regards to the universal laws and ideas. On the last page of the book, Tyson
further emphasizes that one cannot put complete faith in a higher being by stating that [God] does
not want students who could make the next major breakthrough in renewable energy sources or
space travel to have been taught that anything they do not understand, and that nobody yet
understands, is divinely constructed and therefore beyond intellectual capability

Building a Portfolio for Retirement Essay
Building a Portfolio for Retirement According to a survey conducted by the Savings Education
Council last year, 24% of all workers were not confident that they were prepared to retire
comfortably. Upon retirement we would like to maintain a certain level of income and lifestyle
such as that established in the prime of our earningcareer. Through proper planning this goal can be
achieved. I am going to establish the need for investments/ savings through the life cycle model of
consumption. I will then walk through standard retirement plans showing that additional funding
will likely be needed for the upper middle class, leading to stock and bond investments, risk

I will be defining an ideal make up of a retirement portfolio from the perspective that savings began
at middle age or mid career with approximately 20 years worth of savings.
There are several standard means of retirement investing. The U.S. Social Security system is not a
bad start, for most however, this is not enough to retire comfortably on. On average, an individual
could expect $800 per month from Social Security. An individual who maximized contributions to
Social Security could expect $1400 per month. Considering that an individual in his/her prime
earnings could be bringing in over $4000 per month, Social Security would not be enough.
Employer retirement plans in addition to Social Security are an even better start. Plans for smaller
companies include SIMPLE IRAs and SEP plans, a basic definition: contributions are limited, but
contributed into by both employer and employee. They offer tax deductible contributions and tax
deferred investment build up. Plans for larger companies include 401 (k) and 403 (k) plans, these
plans usually allow the employee to choose among several pre chosen mutual funds, the employer
matches contributions, and these contributions are made before taxing income, thereby reducing
tax now in the present.
And IRAs, which allow a retirement account for nonworking spouses, however, IRAs are not as
beneficial as

World War One Essay
Question and answer format of everything in world war 1 1.Machine guns: These weapons were
first used in the American Civil War to devastating effect. But with World War One their
effectiveness reached frightening new levels. Firing up to 600 bullets a minute (the equivalent of
250 men with rifles), Machine Guns were then deemed to be В‘weapons of mass destruction .
Machine guns would often be grouped together to maintain a constant defensive position.
2.Artillery: These were the new and upgraded versions of cannons. Never in the history of man,
where there so many cannons used in one war alone. For four years the British had been using
artillery and firing 170 million shells in that time. But Germany had a plan up their sleeve. For...

The basic idea of a flamethrower is to spread fire by launching burning fuel. The earliest
flamethrowers date as far back as the 5th century B.C. These took the form of lengthy tubes
filled with burning solids (such as coal or sulphur), and which were used in the same way as
blow guns: by blowing into one end of the tube the solid material inside would be propelled
towards the operator s enemies. 11.Trench Mortars: As with the grenade the mortar was yet
another old weapon which found a new lease of life during World War One. A mortar is
essentially a short, stumpy tube designed to fire a projectile at a steep angle (by definition
higher than 45 degrees) so that it falls straight down on the enemy. From this simple description
it will be immediately apparent that the mortar was ideally suited for trench warfare, hence the
common application of the trench prefix. 2. What is no man s land: No Man s Land is the term
used by soldiers to describe the ground between the two opposing trenches. Its width along the
Western Front could vary a great deal. The average distance in most sectors was about 250 yards
(230 metres). No Man s Land contained a considerable amount of barbed wire. In the areas most

Roseanne As A Deviant In A TV Show
The definition of Deviance, according to Google is the fact or state of departing from usual or
accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behavior (Google, 2016). For someone to be
deviant, they are going against what is considered normal or morally correct in their group.
Hearing the word deviant may sound like someone committed a crime, but that is not the case at
all. When someone is deviant, they are just doing what they want to do, which may go against what
is normal to their social group, family, religion, and/or other sources. In this paper I will discuss
how deviance is portrayed in a television show I watch called Roseanne. I will also discuss labeling
and how individuals are labeled, as well as who is doing the labeling.

Roseanne displayed her daily struggles of balancing work, as well as taking care of her family. This
completely contradicts the other sitcoms that portrayed the American Dream, which was huge at
the time. For example, there is a scene in the show where Roseanne is fantasying about her future

African American Racism
Since African Americans came into America they have been looked at as unequal. From 1619
1865 Whites controlled African Americans in slavery. Within slavery, African Americans were
overworked, abused, and sold. Even when slavery ended it was not the end of discrimination.
African Americans dealt with Jim Crow laws with which were state and local laws in the United
States enacted between 1876 and 1965. An example of these laws would be It shall be unlawful
for a negro and white person to play together or in company with each other at any game of pool
or billiards . All of this discrimination still affects society today 152 years later. African Americans
are still affected today by past discrimination. An example of this would be according to the U.S.
Census African Americans are three times more likely than Whites to live in an impoverished
household. Many neighborhoods are predominantly one racewithin it, to live in the city is seen
more as an African Americantrait while living in the suburbs is considered White. Nothing can fix
the discrimination in the past but America has made efforts to help end it these efforts include
affirmative action as well as the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. Although nothing can fix the
horrendous acts of discrimination, the United States has progressively gotten better to end it.
There are many components in African American criticism that make it a very complex issue.
Within African American there are six main components these

Question 3:
What challenges faced the company in the late 1990s?
The main challenge the company incurred in the late 1990, was to be able to achieve and maintain
its critical mass in all product lines in order to maintain better bargaining power and relationships
with its buyers and subsequently maintain its profit margins above 15% and achieve higher price

By end of 90 s the company was dominant in many of the categories it competed in. The challenge
was found in whether it can continue its dominance in it s new, expanding product ranges and could
maintain its dominance and synergy in its all categories on low and high price offering in

Ancient Greek And Roman Empires Essay
Most of the history of the past that is known today has been gathered from primary sources of
the times of interest such as original documents and objects. It is through these sources that
historians are able to gain an in depth, and maybe sometimes biased, view into the lives of the
people of the time and what was going on in the period. Despite being two vastly different genres
of primary sources, Cicero s letters and Homer s epic poem The Odyssey, give some of the best
ideas into life for the ancient Greek and Roman empires. Through analysis of these two works,
some key similarities and differences of how both empires functioned are brought to light.
During Odysseus s travels and Cicero s exile, both dreamt of nothing but being able to return
home to the place they belonged. Calypso, who had been keeping Odysseus on her island for
several years, in an attempt to get him to stay with her even tries to tempt Odysseus with
immortality and warns him of the troubles he will have attempting to return and upon arriving
(Odyssey 72 73). Despite this temptation and the warning, Odysseus says: My thought full
Penelopeia, beside you, is not so tall or striking to look at. The lady will die; you are undying and
ageless. Even so I go on longing all of my days here to sail back home, to see that homecoming
light. (Odyssey 73)

Odysseus still desires nothing more than to return

Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper
Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by
inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid
secretion from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the
bloodstream to the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell
membrane in the cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic
environments. They diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular
secretory canaliculus, the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are
converted to their active form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid
secretions. Since the active principles forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic
enviorment of the proton pump and results in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The
different PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to
different sites on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram
per milligram basis. PPIs require an enteric coating to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

All PPIs are most effective if taken about 30min before a meal as they inhibit only actively
secreting proton pumps. Meals are the main stimulus to proton pump activity. The optimal dosing
time is 30 60min before the first meal of the

The Complexities of Prosecuting Cyber Crime Essay
Cyber crime and traditional crime have similar identifiable traits when criminal activity is the
outcome. The goal of any criminal is to cause harm, threat steal, extortion, to name a few with intent
to harm the public good. Local and state law prosecutes traditional crimes through the state attorney.
The prosecutorrepresents the people(entity) of the state. The defendant or the entity charged must

Analysis Of John Updike s A P
John Updike is viewed by his readers as a progressive voice in his work that promotes feminist
issues. He makes these issues stand out more evidently, rather than hidden, in order for the
reader to realize how women are viewed in society. From reading Updike s A P, the story sends the
message to readers of genders working together to strive for equality. If readers do not carefully
and actively read A P they may miss key messages about the power men hold over women, not just
in society but in literature as well. Even though Updike s A P seems to be a storyabout a teenager
finally standing up to his boss and quitting the job he hates, the tone used reveals the hidden
message on how women are in a male oriented world. The relationship between both men are
women are shown as unequals, men on the top and women always below them, Updike makes
sure to open up the reader s eyes in realizing the way females are being treated unfairly.
The first bathing suit girl who walks into the A P and catches Sammy s immediately looks at the
chunky girl with a two piece plaid bathing suit on that showed off her sweet broad soft looking

How to start a Web Business
How to start a Web Business The number one question to ask when starting a business, whether
on the Web or in a traditional setting, is why would people want to buy the product or service.
Somewhere in the world, one can find people selling anything so why would people come to
you? Are you selling something unique, do you make or market something that no one can find
anywhere else or would find it almost impossible to find elsewhere? Do you sell your product at a
lower price then anyone else? Maybe your prices are competitive with other businesses but you offer

Find which company provides their Web hosting and see if it is affordable. Web server housing
should only be purchased by individuals with experience in Web servers or those willing to pay to

The next decision is what should be offered on the Web page. Many different things regarding a
business can be put on the Web page. Should the page list all the products offered? Will the page
detail descriptions of all products, only the names, or something else? Some design choices should
be made deciding how items will be sold. If items will be sold online, there are several ways to
accomplish this. They fall into two basic categories, those requiring user interaction and those that
are completely automatic. User interactive systems can include Web based forms and email links.
With a Web based form, a user indicates the items desired and other ordering information. When
the user is finished the information is forwarded to an account representative who keys information
into the ordering system just as they would if they were taking orders over the phone or by fax.
The second type of online system is one in which the person completes the online order from and
the server takes the information given and automatically enters the data in the ordering system.

Daniell Malico The Ring Summary
In the article The Ring, author Danielle Malico paints a very vivid picture of what it would be
like to actually be in the boxing ring as a fighter. In her thesis within the opening paragraph,
Malico states Many know what it is like to be a spectator, but few know the fighter s experience
(Malico, n.d., p. 135). This thesis is stated clearly, and it is a fact that few actually know what the
fighter experiences. The thesis gives the reader an indication of where the rest of the article is
headed next. Starting in the next paragraph, the reader is able to visualize the experience in their
minds as they read. Almost everyone has seen a boxingmatch, at least on television or on an internet

As this panorama is being painted, the reader begins to visualize the ring lights, the referee and

She then paints a clearer picture of what is within the ring, and narrows the visualization down to
the perspective of the fighter; as if to bring the consciousness of the reader visualizing the scene
into the body of the fighter. Malico describes feeling of how her body feels and the sensations of
the guard in her mouth, which causes excess saliva to run down her chin. She goes on to
describe the smell of rubber and sweat from the mat, the description of her opponent, the
confidence of the other fighter coming at her and her slight hesitation which she must overcome
as the fighters feel each other out; further solidifying the visualization into a first person view.
Even the description of being in the corner after the first round is complete with sensory details.
The reader is able to imagine these sensations as if they were the one experiencing them.
Obviously, Malico does an exceptional job at giving her readers a sense of

Verse 11 Essay
Verse 11 talks about to put on the armor of God. This armor is not literal armor that an individual
can put on since characterizes such as truth and righteousness are not clothing items. Instead, the
word armor should be taken as referring to figurative articles of protection that an individual
should take upon themselves. The verse begins with the command to put on . It is not phrased in a
question but is a commandment for those who follow Christ. Thus, we are to put on all the armor
not just the parts that we see fit to as indicated by the wordwhole . After all it is dangerous to only
put a helmet but to go into battle without a shield.
But what is the purpose of putting on the armor of God? Well, the second half of verse 2 tells us
that it is so that we might be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. The term that in this
verse gives a reason for us to put on the armor and that reason is so that we would be able to stand.
But what does that mean? The phrase you may be able indicates that that our need to put on ... Show

parts of it. But spiritual battles cannot be fought with man made armor so this armor is made by
a spiritual God as indicated by the words of God . It is necessary that God make the armor
because our physical armor is incapable of doing anything against the attacks of the spiritual

(Kawabata 93). Mrs. Ota s lipstick that has tainted the Shino not only represents the unique story
behind this individual tea vessel, but also shows how Mrs. Ota herself has imprinted the tea vessel.
Metaphorically, the characters actions intrinsically impact her daughter s life. After Mrs. Ota dies,
Fumiko inherits not only the tea vessel but also the wreckage of her complex relationship with
Kikuji. As a result, Fumiko cannot escape the past and is left feeling resentful towards her deceased
mother. Similarly, Kikuji s obsession and bizarre relationships with his father s former mistresses,
underscore the impact of his father s life on his own. In both cases the legacies of their parents
impact not only their emotions, but also their actions and choices. It is in this manner that the
author successfully uses the tea ceremony not only as a metaphor for the continuity tradition, but
also to convey the nature of intergenerational

Benefits of Attending Boarding School for the Arts
Some might ask why anyone would even begin to want to leave home for something like high
school. Why would you leave your home, your friends, your family? It is indeed a good
question, one which I will answer in this essay. The most important reason I want to go to
boarding school is for the arts. Don t get me wrong; I love my school. It is an arts magnet school,
of course, and does have a partial emphasis on them, but I want to go somewhere where the whole
school is focused on what I love to do most: perform. At GCHS, 70% of the students I ve met only
care about sports. It s difficult to feel passionate about something you love when everyone just
shoots it down for important things. Of course, the administration aren t like that, but... Show more

The class selection is more diverse as well. Recently, they brought in a new class that essentially
allows students to play detective : Forensic science. Finally, there s one big difference between
public school and boarding school: Saturday classes. Walnut Hill has weekly Saturday classes,
which take place during Saturday morning. This gives you even more time to learn, also less
free time, but it keeps you busy you re always engaged, always learning, and never bored. Most
boarding school classes operate very differently from those at public school. At public school,
your teachers get tired of you trying to engage them with multiple questions they re there to
teach, gosh dang it, not listen to students and their stupid ramblings. At boarding school, the
class structure is much less like a lecture hall and much more like a conference meeting:
everyone offers input and it s nearly impossible for you to remain silent and unengaged. This
means that you won t end up like the guy in front of me in geometry who simply sits and scrolls
Facebook because no one has enough time to just sit and discuss his issues and grades with him.
Boarding school also contains incredible resources. A weight room, swimming pool, fully
stocked library, and amazing theatre facilities are some of the ones at Walnut Hill. Because you
have such great resources, it s not difficult for one to find a good accelerated reader book for
English class, nor is it difficult to read up on that new

demonstrated how our experiences have an impact on our identity. When Charlie attends Bob s
party with Sam and Patrick for the first time, he had been exposed to drugs. When being
exposed to something new it can influence someone s behaviour and motivate them to adapt to
what others do and they will eventually try to fit into it. This is the same with Charlie as he took

Why Schools Are Not to Blame for Cyber Bullying Essay
A young boy was once sitting on his computer when he saw an email from one of his peers. He
opened the email, and soon enough realized he was being bullied. However, the young boy let the
cyber bullying get out of control. His parents told the school about it, but there was nothing they
could do. The boy had to go to a new school where he wouldn t be bullied. There are many
problems like this that get out of hand, so much that the school can do nothing to help. Many
people blame the school for not helping, when there is nothing they can do about it. Therefore,
schools do not have the responsibility to respond to and protect students from the challenge of
cyber bullying, even if it s off campus.

They said that students must learn themselves that they should not say something online that they
wouldn t say in person. For example, if a student calls someone ugly online, they probably wouldn t
say that in person. However, the school cannot do anything to stop this because they did it at
home. The school systems cannot be held responsible for things that students do at home, and they
should therefore, not be responsible to take action against cyber bullying.
Others would say that schools do have the responsibility to prevent bullying when the schools
helping to prevent bullying empowers students to face up to their bullies. However, this is not the
case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility
for the students. Instead of standing up to the bullies themselves, the students would probably try
to make the school take care of it. This goes to show that having the school take care of bullying
for the students, would not help the students learn how to take care of things on their own. For
example, if the students figured out that the school would take care of something for them, they
would not want to do things themselves. Most students would probably get lazy. Therefore, schools
should not be bound by law to take care of bullying because students would become lazy.
Lastly, schools do not have the responsibility to respond to the cyber bullying of their students is
because sometimes, students do not tell

How Does Don Giovanni Contribute To The Enlightenment
Don Giovanni is a one of a kind character, yet so predictable living a certain lifestyle, almost to the
point of being mysterious. It is the enlightenment era however, where a lot of impossibilities were
being explored, and presented to the public in different forms, including this opera, Don Giovanni.
Although Don Giovanniseems like a total embodiment of immorality, he nevertheless carries some
admirable principles, sparkling the enlightenment idea through the story of Don Giovanni.
As we all know, the Enlightenment is known as the era of reasoning. Many had started to realize
the power of rational and logical thinking. Don Giovanni is a great example for this type of
thinking. Although more probably accuse him rather than praise him of seducing so many
women, Giovanni has his own reasoning to it. (How can it be fair if I just marry one woman) ?
This is in fact capable of bearing careful thoughts. It would not be fair for Giovanni to stay with
one single woman, for thus not only would it be unfair to all the other women, but Giovanni would

Marjane Satrapi s Perspective On The Iranian Revolution
Marjane Satrapi s perspective on the Iranian Revolution was vivid. She was six years old when it
started, and fourteen when it ended. She experienced the overthrow of the Shah s regime, the
triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the effects of the war with Iraq first hand. Satrapi has great
accounts of daily life in Iran, with the revolution and demonstrations going on around her. Her
ideas were intelligent and outspoken, even though she was as young as she was. She was the
great granddaughter of one of Iran s last emperors. This gives her a unique point of view to the
war going on around her. When she was young, and the conflicts in Iran had just started, they
immediately interested her. She wanted to go to demonstrations to fight for what she believed in,
just like everyone else was doing. Marjane Satrapi has a first hand account of the events of the
revolution in Iran, and how they affected the people around her and Iran as a whole. The Iranian
Revolutionrefers to the several events that took place in an effort to remove the Shah from Iran in
the late 1970 s. At the time, the Shah of Iran, much like his father, ran the country as an autocracy.
This means that there was one person in absolute power. The people of Iran did not like this, and
they wanted the Shah out. They attended demonstrations where they protested for the Shah to
leave. The Iranian Army shot at the protestors, and they threw rocks at the army. The Shah finally

The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis
In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in.
Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who
are always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and
Death of Socrates, Socrateswas brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance.
For Socrates he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that
point it was frowned upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and
make others see from his point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to
defend himself. For example, when Meletus says that majority improve the young while the
minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a great point with horses and other animals. While
with animals the minority improve and the majority corrupt. (25B) During Socrates trial, a lot of
details cluing into a bigger picture showing how he is able to prove his innocence and also stand
up for what he believes in. One example, is him trying to focus the attention away from him being
a sophist. Socrates was not charging his student to learn his teachings. He was teaching from his
own will, not for a pay cut. Most of the leaders who start big movement do it... Show more content

Autosomal Dominant Autosomal Recessive Disorder
1.Autosomal dominant genes are modified copies of the gene in a given cell. This is enough
for someone to become affected by an autosomal dominant disorder. The person that inherits the
given disorder would do so from a parent that is also affected by the same gene. Some disorders
that fit into this classification are Huntingtons disease and Marfan syndrome. When a person is
affected by an autosomal recessive disorder, both copies will be mutated in these genes. When a
person has been diagnoses with an autosomal recessive disorder, the parents will each be a
carrier of one copy of each mutated gene, however, they will typically not display any signs of
symptoms of having this condition. Autosomal recessive disorders are not necessarily passed
down to each and every generation, but can also skip generations as it transforms. Some well
known diseases that are autosomal recessive are cystic fibrosis, as well as sickle cell anemia.X
linked dominant disorders are produced by changes of the X chromosomeon the gene. Females
have two X chromosomes. A mutation in one of the two copies of the gene of each cell is
enough to cause a disorder. Males only have one X chromosome, so metamorphosis in only one
copy of the gene from each cell is a foundation for the disorder as well. Males can also not pass
the gene on to another male, such as their son. It is also not uncommon for males to experience
more severe symptoms or reactions of the disorder than that of a female. An example

Summary Of Against The Odds, And Against The Common Good...
In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez attempts to
dismantle the appeal of state run lotteries. First, she takes advantage of conversational writing to
convey the reader s ethics by exploring syntactical techniques and using examples of clever
gambling advertisements. These components strengthen her argumenton the surface by creatively
appealing to emotionand reason. Jimenez unfortunately fails to create a convincing argument by
implementing several improper grammar techniques and a couple of fallacies, weakening the
credibility of her argument. Gloria Jimenez essay, while emotionally appealing, is incapable of
withstanding the criticism produced and created by a lack of grammatical expertise and writing
practices. In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez asserts
that states should not promote and advertize gambling. Jimenez lists many clever lotteryslogans that
are deceivingly interpreted. She also argues that these slogans advertise the advantages of gambling
and playing the lottery because the money supposedly goes to things such as education and social
service. Jimenez explains some arguments in favor of state run lotteries, such as free participation
and the creation of jobs, but argues that they are not relevant to the problem. She briefly touches on
a statistic claiming that low income individuals are more likely to spend money on lottery tickets
than their opposite, higher income

The Negative Effects Of Video Games
Introduction
Most of the research done on video games tends to be done on the possible negative effects
associated with the medium. From aggression and violence to the connection to mood disorders,
video games tend to get a bad reputation. However, there are studies that have been done about the
possible positive effects of games as well. There are definitely fewer positive studies than negative,
but they are out there for those who search them out. The study that was used by Kendall Ashley in
her article How Videogames Can Help with Depression and Anxiety, was not one of those studies.

Propaganda In Rwanda
Rwanda is a located in Central Africa and is made up of mostly two groups, the Tutsis and the

Rwanda (Coleman 3). However, this display of gruesome acts was not random but was caused by
years of hate, separation, and tension between the Tutsis and the Hutus.
The turmoil started in 1916 when Belgians produced identity cards classifying people according to

Essay on Descartes Failure
Descartes Failure
In his Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes strives first and foremost to provide an
infallibly justified foundation for the empirical sciences, and second to prove the existence of
God. I will focus on the first and second meditations in my attempt to show that, in his skepticism
of the sources of knowledge, he fails to follow the rules he has set out in the Discourse on Method.
First I claim that Descartes fails to draw the distinction between pure sensation and inference, which
make up what he calls sensation, and then consider the consequences of this failure to follow his
method. Second, I will show that in his treatment of thinking Descartes fails to distinguish between
active and passive thinking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His goal is the betterment of the human condition. A useful metaphor for explaining the Cartesian
system is the tree of knowledge .[3] According to Descartes the roots of knowledge are
metaphysics, to which he applies himself in the Meditations. From the metaphysics grow the
physics; for they are justified by the metaphysics; the physics are the trunk of the tree. From the
physics branch off mechanics, medicine and morals, the fruits of which take the form of utility, that
is, applied science, medicine, and applied ethics (on an interpersonal, or international level). The
development of these fruits leads to the improvement of the human condition: freedom from pain,
sickness and suffering through medicine, reduction of stresses on the body and freedom from
physical labour through applied science (which makes our work easier), and freedom from anxiety
and mental strain through the development of applied ethics (which helps us to avoid and resolve
conflicts on many levels).
Descartes uses a reductionistic method. In my criticism I will take up this method as well.
Descartes can be criticized on the grounds that this may not be the best method, and is not the only
one that has been proposed as appropriate to the task of justifying beliefs.[4] Descartes uses a first
person method often called epistemic individualism, in which he takes up the position of an

Influence Of English In The Japanese Language
2. English in the Japanese language
2.1. Adaption and Integration: Influence of English on Japanese Language Use
It has been many years since English was first introduced to Japanese society. In the progress of the
19th, 20th and 21st century, the English language was a continuous but varying influence on the
Japanese language and its culture. The result of this centuries long process is a Japanese language
that contains more than its fair share of English loanwords.
Although most Japanese people, even those of older age, are familiar with a lot of English
loanwords, this does not necessarily mean they are familiar with English. In my personal

Notably, there are two domains where these double loanwords appear in Japanese speech; fashion

Wrong With Cinderella
Both in the traditional setup and in the contemporary advanced world, it would be normal for
parents to worry about the environment in which their children grow. Parents would want to
know and influence the kind of friends their children keep because to their belief, the company a
child keeps would influence her general behavior as they grow into adulthood. This particular
concern of parents about their children is usually massively informed by the gender of their
children. For girls, parents would want them to grow into women who would be capable of
keeping up with the many challenges and gender stereotypes that face them in the society. For
instance, parents would not want their girl child to grow with the notion that they would only be
successful by marrying men who are well off. In this respect, this paper analyzes the article
What s wrong with Cinderella? authored by Peggy Orenstein and whose major argument is that
a girl child should not grow up with her mind preoccupied with the flashy life led by princesses.
Peggy Orenstein s argument about the growth of the girl child is about the now prevalent craze of
the princess that is now being embraced by many girls. According to this author, the personality of
girls later in their life would be massively affected by this trend. In Orenstein s view, princesses and
the kind of life they lead are now being commercialized by entertainment companies such as Disney.

Why Should You Respect Your Respect
Introduction: Respect. What does it mean and who deserves your respect? Respect is generally
considered a positive feeling or an action shown towards someone or something considered
important. It is a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. It is also the process of
honoring someone by exhibiting consideration for their needs or feelings.
Some people think that showing respect is somehow degrading. They feel that it is the weak
peoples duty show respect to the mighty or powerful ones in our society. I think that this is a
complete misunderstanding. It is not a weakness to see the value in others. It shows immense
strength and it shows that you is secure enough on your own, to be able to look out into the world

Respecting yourself invites others to respect you. It all starts with you. Give respect and you will
earn respect, and we will all live in better world.
Summary/ending/conclusion: I have talked about very wide ranging subjects but maybe we need
to start with the small things in our everyday life. Say hello to your neighbour. If someone offer
you help, be nice to them, even if you are not interested of buying something in their shop for
exemple. They are trying to do their job. React if someone is treated badly. And please, do not film
people which has been involved in an accident or have making fools of themselves and publish it on

But most importantly of all; Loving yourself invites others to love you. Respecting yourself

How Technology Has Changed Our Lives
Introduction Today a lot of people use technology such as computers, smartphones, and tablets to
get information, to buy something, and to communicate with family and friends. Since
technology has been developed, people s lives have also been changed. One of the examples is
that many companies have started to sell their products through the Internet and customers look
for goods and buy them on the Internet. Before technology was developed, people had to go to
stores to purchase products. However, we can look for and purchase products whenever and
wherever we want now. Shopping has become more convenient. I also often use technology to buy
products, especially flight tickets. Since I came to the United States, whenever I go traveling or go
back to Japan during breaks, I used an online travel agency, Expedia, to purchase my flight tickets.
This is because it is very convenient. I can search and reserve my flight quickly. Usually, I do not
have any problem with Expedia, but I had trouble with it because of technology during this spring
break. I think that if humans operated the service, the problem did not happen.
My Ineffective Service Technology experience During this spring break, I went to Florida with
my family. At first, I booked my round trip flight tickets from Omaha to Orlando and from
Orlando to Omaha through the Internet with Expedia. However, the day before I left for Orlando,
I realized that my car s condition was not great to go to the Omaha airport. The time

Short Story Chivalry By Neil Gaiman
Chivalry is a short story written by Neil Gaiman. The story highlights the daily life of an elderly
woman, Mrs. Whitaker, who is a widow and lives by herself. She has clearly experienced life for
what it has to offer and as a result, she is careful in her every move. Her deftness is evident in her
slow but detailed approach to disposing of slugs and other tasks beforehand. Mrs. Whitaker is
content with her current situation. Consequently, she is not open to change that might change her.
Therefore, when Sir Galaad, a noble knight presents to her tempting gifts in exchange of the Holy
Grail, she declines to take the ruby apple that promises youth in three bites and settles for the other
two gifts, which she intends to display on her mantelpiece. Neil s story, Chivalry, highlights the
power of patience, honesty, and humbleness. It also suggests that there is a conflict in old age
where an individual desires youth, but at the same time, he or she is afraid to be young.
Additionally, Chivalry is a story that highlights the simplicity, irony of old age and the insecurities
that come with age.
The story is set in a relatively modern Britain as is evidenced ... Show more content on

In the story, the knight comes visiting for three consecutive times. Mrs. Whitaker tells him off
during two of his visits. This does not stop Galaad from trying for a third time. He perseveres
Mrs. Whitakers antics to block his advances at the Holy Grail. For instance, in his second visit,
Galaad proclaims, I m back (Chivalry 28). Instead saying outright that she is not interested in
handing over the Holy Grail, Mrs. Whitaker says, now you re here, you might as well make
yourself useful (Chivalry 28). She hands him the bag containing the slugs and instructs him to
dispose them. Such antics do not dissuade Galaad from pursuing the Holy Grail. At the end of it
all, he succeeds in winning the game they have been playing for some

The American Of American Literature
American literature is the literature written or produced in the area of the United States and its
receding colonies. American literature as a whole is the written literary work, and the new England
colonies were the center of early American literature. American drama attained international status
only in the 1920s and 1930s, with the works of Eugene O Neil, who won four Pulitzer prizes and
the Noble prize. During the Middle of the 20th century, American drama was dominated by the
works of eminent playwright Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller, as well as by the maturation of
the American music. American literature is a branch of English literature and independent subject.
American society is composed of different races and ethnicities, as suggested by the name of a title,
and information on different trends, movements, styles and subject themes of American literature.
To be a good American means to understand the simple principles on which our nation was
founded, to observe them in our daily life and fight for them . New bold Morris.

are already all around South America, Africa and other countries, the rise of the emerging Chinese
market catches Enbridge s eyes, and makes the company looks to the distant Asia. This Northern
Gateway project is a giant investment project uses to develop the Asian market. After Enbridge
present the application about the pipeline to the world, it has become a very controversial topic.
Different voices come out. Everything has two sided, positive and negative impacts are
concomitant. Same as the Northern Gateway pipeline, the major benefit for this project is it can
facilitate Canadian economy, if it goes successfully. A roughly preliminary calculation, over 30
years, it worth 300 billion US dollar to Canada s GDP (gross domestic product). For sure, Enbridge
is supposed to give most support in this project, and he is also the biggest and major beneficiary.
No matter from which point of views, Enbridge has enough reason to promote the construction of
the pipeline. On the one hand, Alberta reserves abundant of mine, and easy to exploit. Once the

  • 2. Network Control For Cloud Data Centers LazyCtrl: Scalable Network Control for Cloud Data Centers Kai Zhengв€ —, Lin Wang†, Baohua Yangв€ —, Yi Sun†, Yue Zhangв€ —, Steve Uhlig‡ в€ —IBM Research †Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences ‡Queen Mary University of London Abstract The advent of software deп¬Ѓned networking enables flexible, reliable and feature rich control planes for data center networks. However, the tight coupling of centralized control and complete visibility leads to a wide range of issues among which scalability has risen to prominence. We observe that data center trafп¬Ѓc is usually highly skewed and thus edge switches can be grouped according to trafп¬Ѓc locality. As a result, the workload of the central controller could be highly reduced if we carry out distributed control inside those groups. Based on the above observation, we present LazyCtrl, a novel hybrid control plane design for data center networks. LazyCtrl aims at bringing laziness to the central controller by dynamically devolving most of the control tasks to independent switch groups to process frequent intra group events using distributed control mechanisms, while handling rare inter group or other speciп¬Ѓed events by the controller. We implement LazyCtrl and build a prototypebased on Open vSwich and Floodlight. Trace driven experiments on our prototype show that an effective switch grouping is easy to maintain in multi tenant clouds and the central controller can be signiп¬Ѓcantly shielded by staying lazy, with its workload ... • 3. Fish Reader Response Criticism Fish s Reader Response Criticism is composed of two interdependent ideas: first, that the meaning of texts is shaped by the reading experience itself, and second, that these meanings cannot be judged to be correct or incorrect, but merely belonging to one interpretive community or another. The first idea may be identified as the executive aspect of Reader Response Criticism because it analyzes the act of reading, while the second idea is the epistemological aspect of the theory because it circumscribes the knowledge we can acquire about a text to the merely relative. Studied independently, each aspect of Reader Response Theory offers by itself strong arguments countervailing the formalist stance of the New Critics. But as we will see,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This excerpt begins at the level of innate human concepts (flesh) and proceeds through the more concrete level of medical terminology (muscles, blood, epidermis) and onwards through an evocative metaphor (red cloud). Before the reader reaches the final clause ( whose soul is lightning ), he has built up an expectation that a culminating trope will be used to close the sentence, as is usual. Instead, the fragment ends with whose soul is lightning which refers not to the red cloud, but to the flesh itself. In other words, the red cloud is not the object of the concluding clause, but a psychological multiplier: the reader sees a red cloud (associated with storms) and then sees lightning exacerbated by the immediately preceding image. Now the reader possesses a clear mental picture of the passionate flesh, but the strange syntax (both in French and English) leaves him uncertain about what exactly the text has said: is lightning the soul of the flesh? Is the soul the lightning emitted by the flesh? This is an important point is the soul passion? Or is passion simply one of several manifestations of the soul? Yourcenar has deliberately shrouded this discussion in complex syntax because the distinction itself confounds us. • 14. Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid secretion from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the bloodstream to the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell membrane in the cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic environments. They diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular secretory canaliculus, the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are converted to their active form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid secretions. Since the active principles forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic enviorment of the proton pump and results in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The different PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to different sites on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram per milligram basis. However, this is not the case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility for the students. This goes to show that having the school take care of bullying for the students, would not help the students learn how to take care of things on their own. Satrapi has great accounts of daily life in Iran, with the revolution and demonstrations going on around her. Her ideas were intelligent and outspoken, even though she was as young as she was. • 31. Autosomal Dominant Autosomal Recessive Disorder 1.Autosomal dominant genes are modified copies of the gene in a given cell. This is enough for someone to become affected by an autosomal dominant disorder. The person that inherits the given disorder would do so from a parent that is also affected by the same gene. Some disorders that fit into this classification are Huntingtons disease and Marfan syndrome. When a person is affected by an autosomal recessive disorder, both copies will be mutated in these genes. When a person has been diagnoses with an autosomal recessive disorder, the parents will each be a carrier of one copy of each mutated gene, however, they will typically not display any signs of symptoms of having this condition. Autosomal recessive disorders are not necessarily passed down to each and every generation, but can also skip generations as it transforms. Some well known diseases that are autosomal recessive are cystic fibrosis, as well as sickle cell anemia.X linked dominant disorders are produced by changes of the X chromosomeon the gene. Females have two X chromosomes. A mutation in one of the two copies of the gene of each cell is enough to cause a disorder. Males only have one X chromosome, so metamorphosis in only one copy of the gene from each cell is a foundation for the disorder as well. Males can also not pass the gene on to another male, such as their son. It is also not uncommon for males to experience more severe symptoms or reactions of the disorder than that of a female. First, she takes advantage of conversational writing to convey the reader s ethics by exploring syntactical techniques and using examples of clever gambling advertisements. These components strengthen her argumenton the surface by creatively appealing to emotionand reason. Jimenez unfortunately fails to create a convincing argument by implementing several improper grammar techniques and a couple of fallacies, weakening the credibility of her argument. Gloria Jimenez essay, while emotionally appealing, is incapable of withstanding the criticism produced and created by a lack of grammatical expertise and writing practices. In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez asserts that states should not promote and advertize gambling. Jimenez lists many clever lotteryslogans that are deceivingly interpreted. She also argues that these slogans advertise the advantages of gambling and playing the lottery because the money supposedly goes to things such as education and social service. I will focus on the first and second meditations in my attempt to show that, in his skepticism of the sources of knowledge, he fails to follow the rules he has set out in the Discourse on Method. First I claim that Descartes fails to draw the distinction between pure sensation and inference, which make up what he calls sensation, and then consider the consequences of this failure to follow his method. His goal is the betterment of the human condition. A useful metaphor for explaining the Cartesian system is the tree of knowledge .[3] According to Descartes the roots of knowledge are metaphysics, to which he applies himself in the Meditations. From the metaphysics grow the physics; for they are justified by the metaphysics; the physics are the trunk of the tree. From the physics branch off mechanics, medicine and morals, the fruits of which take the form of utility, that is, applied science, medicine, and applied ethics (on an interpersonal, or international level). The development of these fruits leads to the improvement of the human condition: freedom from pain, sickness and suffering through medicine, reduction of stresses on the body and freedom from physical labour through applied science (which makes our work easier), and freedom from anxiety and mental strain through the development of applied ethics (which helps us to avoid and resolve conflicts on many levels). Descartes uses a reductionistic method. In my criticism I will take up this method as well. Descartes can be criticized on the grounds that this may not be the best method, and is not the only one that has been proposed as appropriate to the task of justifying beliefs.[4] Descartes uses a first person method often called epistemic individualism, in which he takes up the position of an ... Parents would want to know and influence the kind of friends their children keep because to their belief, the company a child keeps would influence her general behavior as they grow into adulthood.
