The Poem Chicago By Carl Sandburg
Chicago: Love? Is the poem Chicago just talking about the relationship with people that live in
Chicago, or is it a love letter? In This poem is not really a letter to a specific person or group of
people. It is out there to inform the world the Chicago is not a bad place. It may have killing and trash
all over, but Chicago does do the dirty work so, there is bad things to expect from it. The poem
Chicago by Carl Sandburg personifies the city has a person, and later on in the story it tells/ explains
how the city is a good place but has its flaws. And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is
true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to kill again. (Sandburg). This evidence shows that the
city personified, also in

King Henry V As The Mirror Of All Christian Kings
In this week s first lecture we opened by watching the prologue from a production of Henry V. We
discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry is the
matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the mirror of all
Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then talked about the
essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small wooden theater. We
talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in the theater. We also talked
about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the audience to use their imaginations
by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus essentially pleads with the audience to
view the representations presented to them as what they are intended more than what they are. For this
to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the writing, acting and audience participation are all
required to properly appreciate the story as it was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this
play, the first is as a Christian hero. We mentioned how Henry V was an embodiment of the symbols
of the lion, fox, and pelican. The first scene after the prologue includes two cardinals praising the king
for his great qualities. We began looking at some of the representations of Henry V as the fox symbol
embodying the qualities of justice, wisdom, and diplomacy. We watched

Walmart Finacial Analysis
Assignment 1 Additional Background Information of Wal Mart in 2005: * Sales Revenue: In 2005,
Wal Mart had $312.4 billion in sales, more than 6,200 facilities around the world including 3,800
stores in the United States and 2,800 elsewhere, employing more than 1.6 million associates
worldwide. * Other Innovations: Later in October Wal Mart announced it would implement several
environmental measures to increase energy efficiency. The primary goals included spending $500
million a year to increase fuel efficiency in Wal Mart s truck fleet by 25% over three years and double
it within ten, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in seven years, reduce energy use at stores by
30%. * Board Affairs: Tom Coughlin (Vice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analysis of Balance Sheet: Liquidity ratio= current assets/current liabilities=38491/42888=0.8974
Wal Mart s ability to meet its short term obligation is relatively weak. The higher the current ratio, the
more capable the company is of paying its obligations. A ratio under 1 suggests that the company
would be unable to pay off its obligations if they came due at that point. However, marl mart huge size
requires much more debts to finance it operations. Wal Mart s 0.89 is not the best financial position,
because the company with huge warehouse of inventory and other current asset has a longer inventory
turnover than Target. Solvency ration=total debt/total equity=23669/49396=0.479 Wal Mart s ability
to avoid financial risks and financial leverage is strong. A low debt/equity ratio generally means a
company has not been aggressive in financing its growth with debt. Wal Mart s firm financial position
shows its powerful competency in the retail market, and a positive upward trend of expanding
marketing shares. Analysis of Cash Flow: Wal Mart is one of the largest retailers in the world; the
majority of cash income comes from the continuing sales operations. And in 2005, Wal Mart spent 8
times money in international operations than year 2004. Wal Mart s investments outside North
America have had mixed results: its operations in the United Kingdom, South America and China are
highly successful, while it was forced to pull out of Germany and South Korea when

Barbie s Impact On Young Children Effect
Barbie s Impact on Young Children effect March 9th, 1959 in a Toy Fair in New York, a new toy came
out for the first time named Barbie. From then on, this toy has become one of the greatest promoter of
imagination in particularly young girls. This toy is formed with parts that try to imitate a real human
body. Barbie dolls were made to portrait humans and for kids to use as any regular doll. One can
purchase a Barbie doll with different characteristics such as different hair color, clothing, and even
profession. The standard height of a Barbie doll is 11.5 inches tall, 18 inches on the waist, 36 inches
chest range, and about 33 inches of the hips. As the industry started growing, Barbie s became one of
the most common toys found all across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With mention in the previous paragraph, Barbie has been made with the image that she has everything
mansion, car, fashionable clothes, and love. A child that doesn t receive any of that could start to feel
depressed emotionally. On, a completely opposite reaction, the child might feel happy to pretend to
have all of those comforts through a Barbie as well. The fourth area affected by this particular toy is
socially. By simply having a Barbie, a child could interact with other kids at the age through playing
with it. Barbie s can be the start of a new friendship. The fact that Barbie comes in different races can
also help the child socially by learning at an early age to accept different nationalities and to see others
equally. Overall, Barbie s have been a part in my life where I have used to play and imagine different
settings I would have loved to explore with my friends. It has been both real and imaginative in my
life. Once I began to play with one, all my worries were gone and I felt that time would stop. It all
started when my father would buy me Barbie s to make me happy. When he left after the divorce to
another state, my father would send me each year a new Barbie. Psychologically, looking at those
times now, you can say that every time I saw a Barbie, I would be reminded of my father s love to me;
even though he was away, my father still thought of me every time he saw a Barbie at a store. I would
definitely recommend this toy to a friend because despite everyone s opinions, those were the best
years of my life playing Barbie s with my

What Are The Advantages Of Masonry
Applications and advantages of masonry construction
Masonry is a material that can withstand great compression forces that it can withstand tensile forces.
It is for this reason that its use has declined in recent years because it can mostly be used in low rise
and medium rise buildings. Most people prefer to use concrete in high rise buildings because it can
withstand greater tensile forces. Masonry is however mostly used in the repairing of both low rise and
high rise buildings. To take care of the tensile forces people have used reinforced masonry, the
reinforcement mostly used is steel. Masonry is used for both the construction of housing and non
housing units.
The first advantage of using masonry for retaining walls is that can be used for a lot of functions.
Masonry can be used for sound insulation, thermal insulation, structural and division of space just to
mention but a few. Masonry materials may sometimes be replaced with damp proof courses and other
materials. The second advantage is that masonry lasts for a long time without or little maintenance. If
the materials are properly selected, masonry can offer services for many years. Masonry will remain
looking good for many years even decades. Masonry has the advantage of looking good because it
comes many colours and textures. Masonry can also be built in ... Show more content on

The codes give the partial factors of safety, forces are multiplied by these factors and strengths are
divided by the factors. The codes in both Eurocode 6 and BS 5628 are based on the limit state design.
The partial factors of safety allow for uncertainties when accounting for material strengths and
determining loads. Some countries use the permissible stress method, the factors of safety here do not
account for uncertainties. The eccentricity and slenderness ratio are also important variables, they are

Abolishment Of Slavery In Today s Society
¨Five score years ago a great American in whose symbolic shadow we stand today signed the
Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree is a great beacon light of hope to millions of
Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice.¨(King) This man was Abraham
Lincoln and with the Emancipation Proclamation it became known that slavery was an injustice to
those who are different. Again, this was considered morally wrong, not illegal, but wrong. This
eventually lead to the ban of slavery in the south. Abraham Lincoln continued a ripple that has been
rolling since the beginning of man and Martin Luther King Junior continued from there; leading to the
abolishment of slavery. This is later represented in the quote Injustice ... Show more content on

tax money on activities that will not improve the nation. The truth is many children do not have a

2. Convertibility of Indian Rupee HISTORY
In 70 s and 80 s many countries switched over to the free convertibility of their currencies into foreign
exchange. By 1990, 70 countries of the world had introduced currency convertibility on current
account; another 10 countries joined them in 1991.
As a part of new economic reforms initiated in 1991, rupee was made partly convertible. From March
1992 under the Liberalized Exchange Rate Management scheme , in which 60% of all receipts on
current account (i.e. merchandise exports and invisible receipts) could be converted freely into rupees
at market determined exchange rate quoted by authorized dealers (AD), while 40% of them was to be
surrendered to Reserve Bank of India at the officially fixed exchange rate.
These 40% exchange receipts on current account was meant for meeting Government needs for
foreign exchange and for financing imports of essential commodities.
This partial convertibility of rupee on current account was adopted so that essential imports could be
made available at lower exchange rate to ensure that their prices do not rise much. Further, full
convertibility of rupees at that stage was considered to be risky in view of large deficit in balance of
payments on current account.
As even after partial convertibility of rupee, foreign exchange value of rupee remained stable. Full
convertibility on current account was announced in the budget 1993 94. From March 1993,

We All Fall Down Critical Analysis
In Robert Cormier s novel, We All Fall Down, is a young adult thriller that explores the evil side of
humanity through a number of corrupt characters. Cormier, to a large extent, accurately depicts
manipulative and dishonest behaviour whilst also showing the evil lurking within the prominent
characters of Harry Flowers, Buddy Walker and Mickey Stallings who showcase the dark side of
humanity. Cormier explores this through Harry Flower s manipulative actions that result in the
suffering of others. Additionally, the constant dishonest behaviour is shown predominantly through the
main protagonist of Buddy Walker, who deceives the one he loves. Cormier continues to depict the
evil lurking in society through the theme of appearance versus reality through the seemingly harmless
character of Mickey Stallings. Cormier successfully depicts manipulative and dishonest behaviour as
well as showing the evil lurking in the dark side of humanity.
In the novel, We All Fall Down, Cormier is able to show the repercussions of manipulative behaviour,
through the character of Harry Flowers. Harry is able to manipulate Buddy s thoughts and actions due
to his vulnerability. Harry fools Buddy into believing that his actions on the night of the trashing were
deceiving, this can be shown with Harry trying to convince Buddy of this, Maybe I was trying to grab
her and save her from falling, Harry said, his voice suddenly mild and reasonable. Maybe it only
looked like I pushed her. What do they

Examples Of The Ponzo Effect
The Ponzo Effect
Perceptions shape our world. We see the world through our eyes and we constantly create perceptions.
Even though we usually think of our visual perceptions as reality, yet they are not always as they are
perceived. Moreover, we humans make perceptions that are quite psychologically and neurologically
constructed and powerfully driven and influenced by a number of factors. We make perceptions based
on, for example, contextual factors, on expectations, on our own individual and past experiences, and
of course, what we happen to be paying attention to. But it is a fact that in the fashion of how we see
the world our perceptions oftentimes oddly do not correspond with what can be physically measured.
Therefore, rather than reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When approaching an airport for landing s/he actually will see the runway as being wider in front of
her/him than at the far end. The same is true for train drivers. They will perceive the Ponzo effect and
see the parallel rails seem to come together in the distance.
The Ponzo effect illustrates quite well the idea that perception is not exactly an internal one to one
copy of the outside world rather than it involves perceptual interpretation. Instead, whenever we see
parallel lines converging, we should be aware that the visual system makes a correction and we likely
do see lines not of equal length even when, in fact, they are.
So, the bottom line is, our perceptions basically are neither true nor false though we can think of our
visual system as not absolutely neutral our perceptions evolved in order to be able to make rapid and
effective decisions. To put it differently, it simply helped the human species and our stone aged
ancestors to survive (and it certainly always will). And yet we are faced with them nigh on everywhere
and at any time and they constantly form our view of the world we live in and we have to deal with.
Rather than taking them for face value, we instead need to be aware of the fact that the things that we
see are not always as we perceive and as they seem to be. Therefore, we are better off if we realise that
they are nothing but our unwittingly created interpretations and perceived notions. Eventually, that is
just my personal perception of

George Washington Secret Six Analysis
George Washington s Secret Six presents the somewhat untold story of the Culper spy ring. The ring
was formed after the death of Captain Nathan Hale who was Washington s first spy, in the aftermath of
his death Washington decided that he would do everything in his power to keep his spies from meeting
an unfortunate demise. With the help of Major Benjamin Tallmadge, the roots for the Culper spy ring
were laid. The ring was designed to keep the identities of the members a secret at all costs. The Culper
ring operated out of British occupied New York where all the members were generally considered to
be loyal to Britain. The ring s members were Abraham Woodhull, Robert Townsend, Caleb Brewster,
James Rivington, Benjamin Tallmadge, Austin Roe, and Agent 355. They communicated using
clothesline messaging, dead drops, invisible ink that only reacted to a secret chemical, code names,
and coded messages. The ring successfully brought light to Benedict Arnold s treason, the British plan
to ambush French troops as soon as they landed, as well as keeping accurate information on troops
and ships in New York. The ring only suffered the loss of one member, this was outstanding
considering that the ring was quite large and operated in British controlled New York. Given the
effectiveness of the ring, the Continental army might have been defeated if the Culper Spy Ring didn t
exist.

The Role Of Identity In Dante s Inferno
The role of religion, ancestry, and nationality are crucial in forming one s identity. These items and
more come together to create a sense of security for an individual. The narrative epic poem, The
Inferno, by Dante Alighieri takes the reader with Dante on his journey through Hell and rediscovery of
his identity. Dante s journey commenced as a result to him falling into temptations whilst falling away
from God. This led him to travel through the Dark Wood of Error which symbolizes the worldliness
that occurs when one strays from the True Way, or God s Way. The spirit of the poet Virgil,
symbolizing Human Reason, appears and leads Dante away from the Dark Wood of Error and to the
Divine Illumination with a journey through Hell. The need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, those he converses with had impacted Dante in some way during his lifetime. The
combination of religion and nationality begin to form the prominent factors of Dante s identity as he
commences his journey through Hell in order to reestablish himself as a committed Catholic. Not only
was Dante overwhelmed by the feeling of chaos due to the fear of losing his identity, but he was also
faced with the overpowering sense of disorientation brought upon by being in Hell. The disarray
caused the need for Dante to find a way to bring security onto himself. The security that Dante sought
was found in increasing the strength of his identity. For many people, identity brings about a sense of
security because it allows them to connect with a specific group of people who are similar to them.
Knowing that there are people who think, talk, act, and believe in a similar way is comforting to many
people. For example, when Dante was exiled He was no longer Dante of Florence. He was without
identity, nome, or without name (Brantley). Dante lost the security that came with being a Florentine
and being associated with Florence. Instead he was just Dante and because of that the security he had
with his identity was shaken. Dante may have shared his Catholic beliefs with others, but once a vital
part of an identity is taken away, so is the

The First Three Words Of Our Constitution
We the people... the first three words of our constitution have changed in meaning and who the people
represent also has changed over time. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the future
government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as U.S
citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country,
the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of
the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the
people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was
to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest
flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of
Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the
foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function.
The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go out and fight for things to get done then
nothing will ever get done. This is why we have representatives in each state to listen to what the
people have to say on issues and laws. Another point referring to both the government of Britain and
the articles of confederation is that by saying we the people it shows that the constitution

The And The Leaf Blade
Petiole is the support that bind the leaf blade to the stem. It is the passage between the stem and the
leaf blade. Petiole ends where the blades begin. In a typical and carnivorous plant, the petiole is the
channel where the products of photosynthesis are moved from individual leaves to the rest of a plant,
making it an important part of photosynthesis. Lamina or blade, is the leaf tissue that encompasses
mesophyll cells, which contain chloroplasts, making its primary function photosynthesis. The
epidermis below or above the lamina contains stomata to facilitate gas exchange. Moreover, the
lamina in a typical and carnivorous plant contains xylem and phloem that deliver water and nutrients
and carry away the products of photosynthesis. Cuticle is a waxy covering in the epidermal cells.
Cuticles in a typical plant help reduce water loss and effectively decrease the entry of pathogen due to
their waxy secretion. The cuticle not only keep the plant surfaces from becoming wet, it also helps
prevent plants from drying out. In carnivorous plants, the cuticle allows for nutrients to go directly
into the tissues. The interior pitcher walls of Sarracenia lack a cuticle which allows the nutrients from
the pitcher fluids to enter the plant through its specialized gaps in the cuticle. Trichomes on typical
plants are outgrowths of the epidermis, such as hair, scale, or water vesicle and can have a variety of
functions. Root hairs are trichomes that facilitate the absorption of water

world due to its beauty. History, when recorded, is evidence that shows that the past actually
happened. However, the Amber Room did not have the fate to stay in a physical form and became one
of the interesting mysteries of the century. Many researchers are interested to discover the mystery of
the Amber Room, however the mystery is still under the veil of mystery. It is because of misplacing

The walls can cover a room that is 50 feet wide by 16 feet high. The Amber Room covered the 16
walls out of 20 walls of the Petersburg Winter Palace. Queen Zarin thought the Winter Palace was too
spacious for the Amber Room and therefore relocated the Amber Room to the Summer Palace. The
Summer Palace room was perfectly fit for the Amber Room because the Summer Palace Room was
smaller in size and would make the Amber Room stand out and look even more amazing. Now the
Summer Palace of Zar is also called The Catharine Palace in honor of Queen Catharine I. Later
Catharine II chose the Amber Room as her favorite place. Therefore she gave the order to the
architect, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and his team to do some additional pieces for the Amber
Room. Bartolomoe was born in Italy, and he was the major architect of the Russian Winter Palace and
Catherine Palace. Bartolomoe added 24 large mirrors that were placed between the 12 Amber panels.
The Amber Room originally came with 3 doors. Above the 2 main doors, there was a wooden

What Is Lucio Sorre s A Salute To The Etruscan
Introduction
In common with the other major wine producing nations of the old world such as France Germany and
Spain, Italy has undergone something of a reality check during the course of the past 20 years. The old
certainties that appeared to guarantee a healthy export trade reaching far into the future have been
dented somewhat by the appearance of the new kids on the block. New world nations such as the
United States, Argentina, Chile and, in particular, Australia have helped to concentrate minds and
sweep away complacency.
This is not to say that the talent within the Italian wine industry was ever in danger of losing any of its
power to seduce, simply that the long standing image of the fiasco of red wine, namely a ... Show

The Etruscans took the grapevine introduced by the Greeks, cultivated it into highly desirable wines,
and considerably improved on winemaking. In Lucio Sorre s A Salute to the Etruscan Origins of
Truscan Cuisine , Sorre notes:
Incidentally, our sophisticated 20th century enotechnicians boast about their advances in temperature
controlled fermentation. The Etruscans were ages ahead of them, though their techniques obviously
differed. After crushing the grapes, the must was poured into clay containers which were buried deep
in the ground. Here the temperature was considerably lower. When the fermentation cycle was
completed, the wine was then stored in cellars located even deeper in the earth than the fermentation
vessels.
Roman influence
As the Roman Empire expanded, demand for wine increased. (No surprise here: the Greeks were not
the only ones with a god of wine!) Wine production kept up with this demand, and wine became an
intricate part of Roman society.
When we talk about wine from the Roman Empire, we should not mistake it for modern day wine.
The wine of the Roman times was very different than our typical Chianti or Barolo: wine was often
mixed with water to decrease the wine s incredibly high alcohol content, and because the Roman
palate preferred sweet wines, they often drank sweet whites from a prized region, Falernian, which is
near Naples. Today, Italians are purists when it comes to wine, but the Romans mixed

The Greed Cycle Essay
Article Review: The Greed Cycle, by John Cassidy
The article by Thomas Cassidy, points out the instrumental role that greed plays in the modern
corporation. Modern Economists have always seen greed as not only a necessary element in the
corporate environment, but as also a vital part of the successful evolution of a public company. As the
article points out, Economists from Adam Smith to Milton Friedman have seen greed as an inevitable
and, in some ways, desirable feature of capitalism. In a well regulated and well balanced economy,
greed helps to keep the system expanding .
In the early public companies, greed was not seen as a danger, as the implicit trust that managers
would not slack off, and would run the company in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They went on to state that competition would not solve this dilemma. This lead to a re evaluation of
the goal of corporations, from merely maximizing revenues, to maximize the value of the firm, as it
was determined in the stock market.
Once the goal of corporations became maximizing the value of the firm, they attracted wealthy
corporate raiders , who used this new corporate philosophy to launch many takeover attempts on
companies, with the intent on restructuring these companies, as to increase their stock prices, so that
they can refloat them for a considerable profit. Most of these takeovers were financed with borrowed
money, hence the term lever
aged buyouts, or LBOs. As the article states, In a typical LBO, the
acquirer would buy out the public stockholders and run the com
pany as a private concern, slashing
costs and slimming it down. The ultimate aim was to refloat the company on the stock market at a
higher valuation . Initially this was seen as one of the best remedies for the agency issues that surfaced
between shareholders and mangers. However as the economic climate changed, many realized that the
LBO was not the answer. When the economy went into a reces
sion during the early nineteen nineties,
many of the firms that had gone private, such as Macy s and Revco, couldn t keep up their interest

An Analysis Of America s Economic System
Economic systems deal with beliefs activities that administer products or services for consumers of a
population. There are three unequivocal economic systems capitalist, socialism and mixed economy

After careful analysis and research, America s economic system best relates to a mixed economy,
which is consternation to me. While manufacturers have control over production and sells, the
government plays a role in economic decision. Individuals corporations own the factors of production;
government enforces oversight on laws legislature ( U.S. Economic System TheUSAonline.com, n.d.).

The Strategy Of Mergers And Acquisition
2.1 Strategy of Mergers Acquisition Mergers Acquisitions refers to corporate reorganisations that
transfer an organisation s ownership from one firm, the target, to the other known as the acquirer
(Motis, 2007). The difference between a merger and an acquisition is that the former is a combination
of two companies, whereas acquisition is when one company completely takeover another (Gupta,
2013. M A can benefit companies in various ways and the main advantage is all the potential
economies of scale that can arise from the deal (Pettinger, 2012). For example, the firm benefits from

Examples Of Greediness In The Book Of Proverbs
Greediness
In the book of proverbs we are given advice to help us in our daily lives. An important theme in
proverbs is greediness. Greediness in this generation is very common especially in adolescents. Most
teenagers these days are more concerned about what s in the media and what the new trend is. For
example the hover boards, phone accessories, jewelry, lipsticks, makeup, etc. In our generation
everyone thinks that if you have the latest gadget or trend you are popular, but that is where everyone
misses the point. In reality none of these things matter, what really matters is your character, morality,
etc. It is more important to please God than your friends. In an episodes of Touched by an Angel , we

This verse applies to me as a 7th grader because this year was filled with a lot of difficult situations
and a lot of temptations to sin. I learned that when I let myself in the gossip and all the middle school
drama I ended up losing because I didn t learn anything valuable and I could easily be blamed for
something I did not do. When I stopped paying attention to what was going on with people that didn t

people.
A proverb that relates to me as a seventh grader is , an inheritance gained hastily in the beginning will

The Phenomenon Of Violent Political Islamism
3. Discuss the phenomenon of violent political Islamism. What are its origins, aims and grievances?
How ought we to deal with the phenomenon?
Political Islam, or Islamism, is the instrumental use of Islam to pursue socio political objectives. Islam
in this case is not merely a religious construct, but a political ideology. Individuals, groups, and
organisations pursue political ideas and programs based on Islamic principles and concepts. They aim
to implement Islamic law (Sharia) in both the public and private domain. Islamism is often mobilised
in existing political issues, and has become a vehicle and vocabulary for the expression of many
different agendas in the Muslim world . It is the most dominant ideology in the Muslim world.
While not all political Islamism is violent, it is undeniable that violent extremism occurs in the Middle
East, North Africa, and South Asia. In this essay, I analyse the phenomenon of violent political
Islamism, focusing on the Middle East. I investigate its macro level historical and political origins,
and the micro level factors which influence the use of violence. I discuss its aims and grievances, and
provide suggestions on how to deal with this phenomenon.

The Lady With The Dog Short Story
Title: He Looks So Good in Love
The story of The Lady with the Dog was written by Anton Chekhov. This is a short story about two
unhappily married people and the challenges they must overcome when they fall in love with one
another. Chekhov s central idea in this short story is that love is an intense force that has the ability to
improve a person purely because they love another person. Chekhov conveys this idea not through
words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in
the story. His use of symbolism when writing about the weather and scenery helps the reader
understands what is going through Dimitri s mind each very moment. This part of the story is told by

sexual desires in Dimitri revealing that there was a great deal of sexual tension between the two of
them. He continues to describe the setting by discussing the wind and the way it was moving. The
wind symbolizes the change that has begun in Dimitri. How this affair was different from the many
others he had before. Dimitri felt different about Anna his feelings were more pure and stronger than
he had ever felt for any other woman. The movement of the wind is describing how Dimitri s who
normally had control of himself had now found that he unable to control these new found emotions for
Anna. Chekhov further describes the wind blowing peoples hats off showing the reader just how out
of control these emotions really are. Dimitri s feelings for Anna were not ones that he welcomed just
like one does not enjoy there hat being blown off their head. Dimitri is surly losing control of his own
emotions in this scene and this was very new to the womanizer who looked down on woman. Dimitri s
level of discomfort rises as Chekhov describes the day as parching showing the reader that Dimitri is

Classroom Management Strategies For High School Teachers
Six Classroom Management Strategies for High School Teachers
(Without Good Classroom Management a Teacher Loses Control)
One of the biggest keys to being a successful teacher is classroom management. Of course, there are
different needs depending on if you teach kindergartners or high school auto shop students, and every
teacher has his or her own individual style. A constant through out all classrooms is this, without good
classroom management, a teacher loses control. Once you lose control of the classroom the amount of
actual teaching and learning diminishes to almost nothing.
I am by nature not a strong disciplinarian and like to be relaxed and fun with my class. I will never be
known as that mean teacher . I am the teacher students think they can get away with mischief in class,
and in my early years, they did get away with a lot. I will never be up to the level of one of my
colleagues, who has been teaching high school English for almost 40 years. She is a wonderful woman
who can even scare other teachers during staff meetings if they were to talk or fidget.
I have however, over the years been able to find ways to combine my somewhat easygoing personality
with some constant classroom rules and ideas to maintain a good learning atmosphere. Here is a
simple list of six suggestions I think most teachers will agree with and should use.
1) Over plan each day You need to keep students busy working or listening. If you have a dead time at
the end of your class, it can be

The Importance Of Characters In The Color Of Water
I m dead. You want me to talk about my family and here I been dead to them for fifty years. Ruth
McBride Jordan. Ruth McBride Jordan is a strong Polish Jewish woman with 12 children who firmly
believes in work, school, and religion. Ruth undergoes many different changes within both herself and
her family throughout The Color of Water, causing her to change her name 3 times in a way of
reviving herself. These 3 names are significant with respect to her identity and her life because they
represent a time in her life where she tried to change in order to make her it better. These name
changes lead up to a manageable time of life for Ruth. The name Ruchel Dwarja Zylska is significant
because it represents her when she was young naive girl who didn t understand the aspects of life. The
second name, Rachel Deborah Shilsky, represents a time in her life where she tried to change her ways
in order to fit in. The final name, Ruth McBride Jordan, stands for a time when she finally moves on
with life and leaves behind all of the toxic things that once troubled her.
The name Ruchel Dwarja Zylska is significant because during this time, Ruth didn t fit in with others.
Since she had a Jewish name, she was an outcast which leads up to the first name change. As a young
girl, Ruth didn t really understand the aspects of life. In The Color of Water it states, In school the kids

Old Testament Exegetical Paper – Isaiah 62
The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C. He had a
reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of condemnation and urge to
make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of
the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the
neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about
whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people
did not heed his words and change their ways. According to The Interpreter s Bible, Isaiah 62 was

Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah. Its first
appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points out that it need not be
interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the fortified crest of the hill between the
valleys (959). The name ‘Zion has been suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that
covered the southeast hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be
known as Zion. ‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun ‘Jerusalem (not just the
southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam.

Median housing price of the Great Lake Megaregion is $164,447 and its monthly growth rate is 0.31%
during 2013 June through 2016 May. The average value of planning time index is 3.01 and its monthly

construction price index obtained from Census is 112.46. The average unemployment rate is 5.64. The
number of household and the number of firm at the zip code level is 8,581 and 726, respectively. And
their vacant rates are 3.32% and 9.58%. The average percentages of park and lake are about 2%.

growth in median housing prices. Such results are slightly changed when including control variables

Since different locations and different time influence growth in housing prices (see Figure 5, again),
model (6) that include locational and time fixed effects is the best fit to explain the relationship
between congestion growth and housing price

Performance Based Design For An Integrated Solution
PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN
The concept of achieving design with some focus on performance is not new, the tools and methods
that changes. To discuss performance for design, it is important to classify and separate its functions
and features. If a building consists of a set of parameters, the design process can be associated to a
balance act, where parameters are weight and arranged to fit the context of a project.
In traditional architectural design, the use of measurable parameters often postponed or take place in a
later phase of the design process. The concept design is rather focused on aesthetics, plan functionality
and experience of spaces, however, this approach limits the success of an integrated solution.
Today, there is an almost understood association with computational tools along with the measurable
parameters and thresholds. The massive power of computation makes it superlative for repeating
calculations, it could be useful in optimization algorithms for instance, and the target parameters for
the optimization have to be simple enough to be expressed in a computer algorithm. In the application
of structural engineering, these quantifiable and measurable parameters could be mass, force, moment,
deflection or even cost.

Favelas In Brazil Research Paper
Favelas in Brazil have always had a somewhat rough background in getting along with outsiders.
Meaning drug lords, gangs, and occasional gun shootouts with the police. There is no doubt that it is a
dangerous area to be in. Though you d expect the people living there to want to leave to get out of that
situation. It is actually quite different they like where they re at. None of them really mind where they

Effects Of The Panic Of 1837
The panic of 1837 was arguably more devastating than the depression of the 1930 s, yet less well
known. During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy
underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe
helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies,
speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash
flow and restrictive lending policies (Wiki). Historians believe that it was Jackson s policies that lead
to the inflationary boom and the Panic of 1837, which suspended the convertibility of paper money
into specie. Historians point the finger to three of Jackson s policies. The first was Jackson s veto of a
bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the
United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians
believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the
banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the
Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the
National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the
states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie

Trust In Finding Forrester
In the movie Finding Forrester The main concept that was portrayed was the idea of trust. It becomes
a building block for the friendship that developed between Forrester and Jamal. As the film
progresses, we start to see how this concept of trust starts to develop between other characters as well,
illustrating the theme of how as the friendship grows, so does the trust and respect for each other.
When we first get introduced to William Forrester, we see him as a strange man who lives in a poor
shape apartment in the Bronx, isolating himself from the world around him. After he meets with Jamal

The Main Factors And Effects Of The Movement Of Modernism
The movement of modernism is a movement that has been associated with the transformation of the
western societies through development of industrial societies that then resulted to the development of
cities. It is a movement that was conceived through the need to develop after the catastrophic events of
the world wars. One of the main factors that the modernism has influenced is the aspect of
architecture. The movement was developed as a way to reject and relinquish the traditional procedures
of planning and adopting better and new methods that are capable of improving the social condition of
people .
The movement first began in Europe and later spread to the United States of America. It was as a
result of the availability of democracy in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Slavery of the Millennium
It is common ideology that slavery is a thing of the past. This is far from true; sex trafficking is
prominent all across the world on a massive scale and is the new form of slavery. According to the
U.S. Department of State estimates that 560,000 women are trafficked each year across international
borders and forced into the sex industry. {{34 Holman,M. 2008; }} Other non government programs
such a UNICEF have these numbers in the millions. {{34 Holman,M. 2008; }} The real numbers of
sex trafficking are unknown, but the problem is evident. The general public is unaware of the sex
trafficking epidemic because the forced labor business is not only inhumane: it is well hidden. The
business is kept underground due to the stigma associated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2005; }} The problem of sex trafficking must be amended at the ground roots to see improvement.
Changes must be implemented to the standing sex trafficking legislation, starting with the Victims of
Trafficking and Violence Protection Act implemented in 2000 to prevent trafficking, protect victims,
and prosecute traffickers. Though this policy was a major milestone in human rights legislation, its
execution over time has been a travesty.{{30 Potocky,M. 2010; }} It is argued that laws are hard to
implement, when cultures readily accept prostitution and therefore adversely support sex trafficking.
This is can be seen in Thailand. The religion of the Thai justifies the selling of young women.
Buddhists believe that women are inferior to men and cannot attain enlightenment (43). They also
believe that people are meant to go through pain and suffering in life to make up for the sins they have
committed in past lives. It is also a belief of the Thai people that children owe a great deal to their
parents (44). Just being born is considered a great gift that takes a lifetime of repayment. Because of
these beliefs young girls are sold into sex slavery. Immediately, a new young prostitute has a great
amount of debt, and in addition she is required to pay for rent, food and drink, medicinal fees and
fines for not working hard enough or displeasing a costumer (58). This debt bondage keeps the girls
under complete control as long as they seem

  • 2. The Poem Chicago By Carl Sandburg Chicago: Love? Is the poem Chicago just talking about the relationship with people that live in Chicago, or is it a love letter? In This poem is not really a letter to a specific person or group of people. It is out there to inform the world the Chicago is not a bad place. It may have killing and trash all over, but Chicago does do the dirty work so, there is bad things to expect from it. The poem Chicago by Carl Sandburg personifies the city has a person, and later on in the story it tells/ explains how the city is a good place but has its flaws. • 3. King Henry V As The Mirror Of All Christian Kings In this week s first lecture we opened by watching the prologue from a production of Henry V. We discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry is the matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the mirror of all Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then talked about the essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small wooden theater. We talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in the theater. We also talked about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the audience to use their imaginations by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus essentially pleads with the audience to view the representations presented to them as what they are intended more than what they are. For this to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the writing, acting and audience participation are all required to properly appreciate the story as it was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this play, the first is as a Christian hero. We mentioned how Henry V was an embodiment of the symbols of the lion, fox, and pelican. The first scene after the prologue includes two cardinals praising the king for his great qualities. A ratio under 1 suggests that the company would be unable to pay off its obligations if they came due at that point. However, marl mart huge size requires much more debts to finance it operations. Wal Mart s 0.89 is not the best financial position, because the company with huge warehouse of inventory and other current asset has a longer inventory turnover than Target. It is for this reason that its use has declined in recent years because it can mostly be used in low rise and medium rise buildings. Most people prefer to use concrete in high rise buildings because it can withstand greater tensile forces. Masonry is however mostly used in the repairing of both low rise and high rise buildings. To take care of the tensile forces people have used reinforced masonry, the reinforcement mostly used is steel. Masonry is used for both the construction of housing and non housing units. The first advantage of using masonry for retaining walls is that can be used for a lot of functions. Masonry can be used for sound insulation, thermal insulation, structural and division of space just to mention but a few. Masonry materials may sometimes be replaced with damp proof courses and other materials. The second advantage is that masonry lasts for a long time without or little maintenance. By 1990, 70 countries of the world had introduced currency convertibility on current account; another 10 countries joined them in 1991. As a part of new economic reforms initiated in 1991, rupee was made partly convertible. From March 1992 under the Liberalized Exchange Rate Management scheme , in which 60% of all receipts on current account (i.e. merchandise exports and invisible receipts) could be converted freely into rupees at market determined exchange rate quoted by authorized dealers (AD), while 40% of them was to be surrendered to Reserve Bank of India at the officially fixed exchange rate. These 40% exchange receipts on current account was meant for meeting Government needs for foreign exchange and for financing imports of essential commodities. This partial convertibility of rupee on current account was adopted so that essential imports could be made available at lower exchange rate to ensure that their prices do not rise much. Further, full convertibility of rupees at that stage was considered to be risky in view of large deficit in balance of payments on current account. Cormier, to a large extent, accurately depicts manipulative and dishonest behaviour whilst also showing the evil lurking within the prominent characters of Harry Flowers, Buddy Walker and Mickey Stallings who showcase the dark side of humanity. Cormier explores this through Harry Flower s manipulative actions that result in the suffering of others. Additionally, the constant dishonest behaviour is shown predominantly through the main protagonist of Buddy Walker, who deceives the one he loves. Cormier continues to depict the evil lurking in society through the theme of appearance versus reality through the seemingly harmless character of Mickey Stallings. Even though we usually think of our visual perceptions as reality, yet they are not always as they are perceived. Moreover, we humans make perceptions that are quite psychologically and neurologically constructed and powerfully driven and influenced by a number of factors. We make perceptions based on, for example, contextual factors, on expectations, on our own individual and past experiences, and of course, what we happen to be paying attention to. But it is a fact that in the fashion of how we see the world our perceptions oftentimes oddly do not correspond with what can be physically measured. Therefore, rather than reality, ... The same is true for train drivers. They will perceive the Ponzo effect and see the parallel rails seem to come together in the distance. The Ponzo effect illustrates quite well the idea that perception is not exactly an internal one to one copy of the outside world rather than it involves perceptual interpretation. Instead, whenever we see parallel lines converging, we should be aware that the visual system makes a correction and we likely do see lines not of equal length even when, in fact, they are. So, the bottom line is, our perceptions basically are neither true nor false though we can think of our visual system as not absolutely neutral our perceptions evolved in order to be able to make rapid and effective decisions. To put it differently, it simply helped the human species and our stone aged ancestors to survive (and it certainly always will). And yet we are faced with them nigh on everywhere and at any time and they constantly form our view of the world we live in and we have to deal with. Rather than taking them for face value, we instead need to be aware of the fact that the things that we see are not always as we perceive and as they seem to be. Therefore, we are better off if we realise that they are nothing but our unwittingly created interpretations and perceived notions. Eventually, that is just my personal perception of ... The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the future government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as U.S citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function. The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go out and fight for things to get done then nothing will ever get done. In Lucio Sorre s A Salute to the Etruscan Origins of Truscan Cuisine , Sorre notes: Incidentally, our sophisticated 20th century enotechnicians boast about their advances in temperature controlled fermentation. The Etruscans were ages ahead of them, though their techniques obviously differed. After crushing the grapes, the must was poured into clay containers which were buried deep in the ground. Here the temperature was considerably lower. When the fermentation cycle was completed, the wine was then stored in cellars located even deeper in the earth than the fermentation vessels. Roman influence As the Roman Empire expanded, demand for wine increased. (No surprise here: the Greeks were not the only ones with a god of wine!) Wine production kept up with this demand, and wine became an intricate part of Roman society. When we talk about wine from the Roman Empire, we should not mistake it for modern day wine. The wine of the Roman times was very different than our typical Chianti or Barolo: wine was often mixed with water to decrease the wine s incredibly high alcohol content, and because the Roman palate preferred sweet wines, they often drank sweet whites from a prized region, Falernian, which is near Naples. Once the goal of corporations became maximizing the value of the firm, they attracted wealthy corporate raiders , who used this new corporate philosophy to launch many takeover attempts on companies, with the intent on restructuring these companies, as to increase their stock prices, so that they can refloat them for a considerable profit. Most of these takeovers were financed with borrowed money, hence the term lever aged buyouts, or LBOs. As the article states, In a typical LBO, the acquirer would buy out the public stockholders and run the com pany as a private concern, slashing costs and slimming it down. The ultimate aim was to refloat the company on the stock market at a higher valuation . Initially this was seen as one of the best remedies for the agency issues that surfaced between shareholders and mangers. However as the economic climate changed, many realized that the LBO was not the answer. When the economy went into a reces sion during the early nineteen nineties, many of the firms that had gone private, such as Macy s and Revco, couldn t keep up their interest ... Political Islam, or Islamism, is the instrumental use of Islam to pursue socio political objectives. Islam in this case is not merely a religious construct, but a political ideology. Individuals, groups, and organisations pursue political ideas and programs based on Islamic principles and concepts. They aim to implement Islamic law (Sharia) in both the public and private domain. Islamism is often mobilised in existing political issues, and has become a vehicle and vocabulary for the expression of many different agendas in the Muslim world . It is the most dominant ideology in the Muslim world. While not all political Islamism is violent, it is undeniable that violent extremism occurs in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. In this essay, I analyse the phenomenon of violent political Islamism, focusing on the Middle East. I investigate its macro level historical and political origins, and the micro level factors which influence the use of violence. I discuss its aims and grievances, and provide suggestions on how to deal with this phenomenon. This is a short story about two unhappily married people and the challenges they must overcome when they fall in love with one another. Chekhov s central idea in this short story is that love is an intense force that has the ability to improve a person purely because they love another person. Chekhov conveys this idea not through words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in the story. His use of symbolism when writing about the weather and scenery helps the reader understands what is going through Dimitri s mind each very moment. Of course, there are different needs depending on if you teach kindergartners or high school auto shop students, and every teacher has his or her own individual style. A constant through out all classrooms is this, without good classroom management, a teacher loses control. Once you lose control of the classroom the amount of actual teaching and learning diminishes to almost nothing. To discuss performance for design, it is important to classify and separate its functions and features. If a building consists of a set of parameters, the design process can be associated to a balance act, where parameters are weight and arranged to fit the context of a project. In traditional architectural design, the use of measurable parameters often postponed or take place in a later phase of the design process. The concept design is rather focused on aesthetics, plan functionality and experience of spaces, however, this approach limits the success of an integrated solution. The massive power of computation makes it superlative for repeating calculations, it could be useful in optimization algorithms for instance, and the target parameters for the optimization have to be simple enough to be expressed in a computer algorithm. In the application of structural engineering, these quantifiable and measurable parameters could be mass, force, moment, deflection or even cost. During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies, speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash flow and restrictive lending policies (Wiki). Historians believe that it was Jackson s policies that lead to the inflationary boom and the Panic of 1837, which suspended the convertibility of paper money into specie. Historians point the finger to three of Jackson s policies. The first was Jackson s veto of a bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
