Loss Of Innocence In Macbeth
My image shows the flag of Scotland (setting), although I used different colors to represent my
character, Macbeth. In Macbeth, the theme loss of innocence is relevant. The cross in the middle is
white, seeing that the color represents Macbeth s innocence at the beginning of the play. At first,
Macbethis a respected Thane, a devoted husband and a loyal subject to King Duncan, in which the
King calls him A valiant cousin and worthy gentleman, in act 1 scene 2. The first of the witches
prophecies then bring out his ambitious nature, but he struggles with the idea of killing the King.
Later, Macbeth proves his innocence when he tells Lady Macbeth that they will proceed no further
in the business of murdering King Duncan: We will proceed no further in this business.... Show

Are you afraid to be the same man in reality as the one you wish to be? Would you have the
crown which you believe to be the ornament of life, and yet live like a coward in your own self
esteem? To this question, Macbeth loses his innocence and states that he is convinced to follow
through with the murdering of King Duncan, I m convinced, and I commit every part of my body
to this terrible event. This is where the color red comes in, which represents blood and guilt.
Macbeth s evil deed of killing Duncan causes him to suffer from fear and guilt, which leads to
even more crimes. Although he is moved with fear in the beginning, he has a loss of innocence; he
murders not only King Duncan but also the

The Wright Brothers -inventing The First Plane
The Wright Brothers Inventing the First Plane Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867 in
Millville, Indiana and Orville Wright was born on August 19, 1871 in Dayton, Ohio to Milton
Wright and Susan Catherine Koerner. They had two older brothers, Reuchlin and Lorin, and a
younger sister Katharine who happened to share a birthday with Wilbur. Their father was a
minister, in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, and spent a lot of time traveling for the
church. During one of his trips their father found a small rubber band powered toy helicopter
made of paper, bamboo, and cork. It was modeled after the work of Alphonse Pe`naud; a French
aeronautical pioneer. This was the beginning of their fascination with aeronautics. In 1878,
Milton became a Bishop in the church and moved the family to Iowa. Neither of the Wright
brothers received a high school diploma. Wilbur had enough credits to graduate, but the family
moved back to Dayton, Ohio during his senior year. Orville dropped out in the eleventh grade,
and went on to design and build his own printing press made from a broken tombstone and
buggy parts. With Wilbur as the editor, the two brothers started their own weekly paper called
West Side News. In 1892, they opened a bicycle rental and repair shop. They also, began
manufacturing their own brand of bicycles, Van Cleves and St. Clairs, in 1896 in a room above
their printing shop. Orville also invented a self oiling wheel hub. This business would provide

Reality Shows And The Reality Of Reality Television,...
Nowadays, there is a wide selection of reality shows, which audiences can pick and watch. The
reason why there are so many different types of reality shows is due to the expansion of the
broadcasting industry and the need to ingratiate the taste of the public. Although most people will
agree the term reality shows is used to identify shows that have arisen since the 21st century, the
appearance of reality televisionshows actually emerged earlier than everyone thought. For
example, Allen Funt s Candid Camera, which was the first reality show in the United States, arose
in 1948 wherein real people respond to funny pranks or unusual situations for the first time ever
under hidden cameras (Beck 6). Apart from the entertainment reality shows, non fictional
entertainment shows such as documentaries about ordinary people, quiz and game shows also
appeared during the 1990s (Beck 4). Therefore, the aim for people to watch reality shows at that
time is entertainment and education. Yet, as time progresses, distinct subgenres of reality shows
such as the makeover shows, celebrity reality shows as well as dating shows developed in the 21st
century and the realness of reality shows has become controversial. The authenticity of reality
shows has become debatable not only because of these people are oftentimes getting paid to be
filmed on camera, but also because exaggerations of manliness, beauty, and wealth are often
portrayed in these programs, thus causing audiences to consider them

A Comparison of Two Advertisements Essay
A Comparison of Two Advertisements
I have looked at 2 advertisements, one is from Sugar magazine and the other from Style
magazine. The advertisement from Sugar, is for L Oreal Paris Colour Pulse Hair Dye ; the
advertisement from Style is for Clinique Autumn 2004 close up on lips: modern metallics .
All advertisements are aimed at specific target audiences and as such require different ideas,
linguistic devices and presentational features to attract them. The two advertisements I have chosen
have different target audiences, reflected by the magazines that they come from, the language they
use and the visuals.
Both my chosen advertisements have strong visuals. In the L Oreal Paris one, ... Show more content

This plays with words as it says close up on lips and the image is of close up lips with lipstick on.
In the L Oreal Paris advertisement the slogan is 10 lively colours to make your look pulse as
often as you want! This is different from their usual slogan because you re worth it as they are
just talking about the colour pulse hair die, so they wanted a slogan to link in with the product.
The slogan is effective because the words lively and pulse make it sound alive and the words you
and your make it sound like they are talking to you in person. Also, at the end of the slogan is an
exclamation mark which makes it seem exciting.
The two advertisements both have copy but in the Clinique one it is much longer because it is
aimed at an older target audience who are more interested in the copy content. The Advertisement
aimed at the younger target audience has less copy, containing just the most important facts,
because the visual impact is more to this age group.
The L Oreal Paris advertisement states that it washes out in 8 to 10 shampoos . This is an
example of weasel words because they are not giving an exact figure but a range. This helps
advertisers avoid making untrue statements about a product, words like probably and almost which
sound like they are not entirely certain.
The Clinique advertisement uses lots of

Madonna with the Long Neck
This painting was created by the artist Parmigianino in 1534 1535 during the Renaissance
Mannerism time period in Florence, Italy. The painting is oil on wood. The painting portrays the
Virgin Mary placed on a high pedestal in extravagant robes, holding a very large baby Jesuson her
lap. Next to her are a few angels showing interest in the baby Jesus. In the lower right hand corner
of the painting shows the emaciated figure of St. Jerome. A representation of St. Jerome was
required by the administrator because of the saint s relation with the adoration of the Virgin Mary.
The Madonna with the Long Neck is a portrayal of the Virgin Mary who seems to be very
disproportioned.

Examples Of False Memories
False Memories Is it even possible at all to recover forgotten memories? In some cases damage to
the frontal lobe and cause confabulation, which can cause people to create false memory.
According to the film False Memories , it depicts mostly ways people create false memories
because of the influence of outside sources. In the film these outside sources creating people to
create false memories are individuals trying to unravel the forgotten memories. These different
individuals use ways uncover their memorythrough distorting the truth, make someone to believe

The Pros And Cons Of Academic Dishonesty
McCabe has said that an estimated seventy percent of college students have admitted to some type
of cheating. He supports this claim by saying that the parties to blame here is the school system
and the media. HBU defines academic dishonesty to when a student cheats or steals someone s
work and passes it as their own among these are a list of actions that count for academic dishonesty.
Some examples being brought up about dishonesty is how in the NFL saw past the deflating
incident in the Super Bowl were it seems like the media praised the player for his actions
(Loschiavo). Therefor, students think it is correct to do be dishonest in their class work.
The article talks about how the way the school system is set up students are not able to fully write
a complete a research paper. Most of the time an act like this is impulsive, something that is done
without thinking. It is said that teachers are basically taking a short cut by teaching their student
the concept of paraphrasing what they read instead of teaching them how to properly put things in
a context they can explain themselves. The research was done by a Dean who dealt with student
dishonesty for over sixteen years, but yet each student is has different reasons for their acts.
McCabe himself says in the article that cheating can be one of many things such as a cry for help
to just not knowing how to properly cite their resources. Being a fresh out of high school student I
often witness student being told that what they

The Fantasies of Don Quixote Essay
The Fantasies of Don Quixote
Don Quixote lived in a fantasy world of chivalry. Chivalry had negative and
positive effects on the lives of the people. Don Quixote emphasizes a cross section of
Spanish life, thought, and feeling at the end of chivalry. Don Quixote has been called
the best novel in the world, and it cannot be compared to any other novel. Don
Quixote has been described as that genial and just judge of imposture, folly, vanity,
affectation, and insincerity; that tragic picture of the brave man born out of his
time, too proud and too just to be of use in his age (Putnam, 15).
The novel has been translated by different people, but it has been said that Shelton s translation has

Don Quixote was a Spanish knight about fifty years old. His real name was Alonso Quijano. He
lived in the village of La Mancha with his neice, his house
keeper, and a handy man. He gave up hunting and taking care of his estate to satisfy
his passion of reading books of chivalry. He had a large collection of romances of
chivalry and in the end they turned his brain. His mind became weak from his
reading his many romances of chivalry (Samuel, 57). His mind became stuffed with
fantasy accounts of tournaments, knightly quests, damsels or women in distress, and
strange enchantments (Grossvogel, 89). His high spirit and his courage never failed
him, but his illusions led him into trouble. Warddropper says, Don Quixote s
madness is not the result of unrequited passion. It is the result of reading too many
books of chivalry. He is a knight gone mad from a platonic love (Warddropper,
136).
One day he decided to imitate the heroes of the books he had read and to
revive the ancient custom of knight erranty. Don believed that he had been called to
become a knight errant (Putnam, 63). Nothing would satisfy him but that he must
ride abroad on his old horse, armed with spear and helmet, a knight errant, to

Essay on A Portrait of Duke Ellington by Tracy Frech
A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of
American music. Edward Kennedy Duke Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on
April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke
as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as
a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a
promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his
career on a new idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became
one of the most famous musicians in America.

In the Autumn of 1927, luck had crossed paths with Duke again. The manager of Duke s band,
Irving Mills, had heard that the prestigious cotton club was looking for a new band and
immediately Irving began campaigning for Duke. Duke and his band opened on December 4,
1927 to meet a mad rush of spectators who eagerly awaited to hear Dukes newest pieces. Duke s
band became very prosperous and they had their own spot on the Cotton Club floor with special
lighting and accommodations. At the year of 1928 the band consisted of Bubber Miley, Freddy
Jenkins, and Arthur
Whetsol on trumpet, joined with Tricky Sam Nanton, and Juan Tizol on trombone.
Johnny Hodges, now on alto sax, with Barney Bigard doubled on tenor sax and clarinet, and finally
Harry Carney at seventeen years old joined on bari sax.
Carney was known as one of the first people in a band ever to use the bari sax as a solo
instrument. While Duke s band was performing at the Cotton Club, his band participated in more
than sixty four recording sessions.
In 1931 Duke grew so tired of the show business routines that he decided to try his luck again on
his own. When he arrived in New York his band grew to almost three times what it originally had
been at the Cotton Club.
Duke feared that this would become a very serious problem considering how the stock market
crashed in late 1929 and millions of people across the United States were out of work. Somehow,

Dualism Vs Physicalism
I would like to begin this paper by addressing what question I hope to answer through the entirety
of this paper: is the mind physical? As simple as this question may seem to be, there still, to this
day, is not a definite answer. There are, mostly, two approaches to answering this problem, through
dualismor physicalism. The dualist, for the purposes of this paper, simply believes that the mind
and the body are not equal and therefore, they are not one in the same. The physicalist, however,
would come back to say that there are no such things as non physical objects and therefore, they
would conclude that the body and the mind are both physical. After weighing on both sides of this
argument, I am going to defend the physicalist ideas and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An objection to this statement would be that we are not actually gaining any new knowledge
after experiencing events. What if, in reality, all we are doing is obtaining a new ability? Since
we already know all the physical information about experiencing the color red, the physicalist
would say that there would not be any new knowledge to obtained from this event, but instead,
we just know the ability to see the color red now. But, in another section of Jackson s article, he
refers back to the famous article What is it Like to Be a Bat?, written by the philosopher Thomas
Nagel, to help strengthen his argument against physicalism. Jackson states how there is no
amount of physical information that could possibly tell us what it is like to be anything other
than a human being (Jackson 416 417). For instance, the dualist would say that I cannot possibly
understand what it is like to actually be a dog. Even if I were able to obtain all the possible
physical information there is about dogs, according to the dualist, I would still be missing the
actual experience of being a dog. However, the physicalist would still argue that, although I am
not a dog, I can still know the physical information about what it is like to be a dog and know how
they perceive and experience everything in life. Then if, some day, I

Official Language In The United States
According to urban legends, German was almost the official language of the United States
(Sick, Bastian). In the myth, a group of Germans living in the United States got a petition for
German to be the official language of the United States to Congress in 1794. By one vote, it didn
t pass. As you can see, having an official language in the USA was a topic of debate ever since
the founding fathers were alive ( National American? ). Having a national language would mean
all official government business is conducted in English ( Official English ). I believe that the
USA shouldn t have an official language since it goes against freedom of speech, it would be racist,
and it wouldn t help unite the country.
The first reason for that is that it would go against freedom of speech. If you were the president,
you wouldn t be able to give speeches and talk about anything in any language other than
English. If you wanted to create laws in a state like Hawaii in the official language, you wouldn t
be able to because the official language in Hawaii is Hawaiian ( Hawaiian Language Basics ).
This goes against freedom of speech because you wouldn t be allowed to speak however you want
to without interference from the government ( What Does Free Speech Mean? ). If having your
freedom of speech right comes into play if you need to make a cake, then having the right to ...

Marcion Against Gnosticism
Marcion also mimicked the church by having his own bishops and a similar system to the church.
Because of these things, the church had to recover quickly by meeting the challenge that was
created. Although the Marcion church did challenge the Christian church, its beliefs were very
similar to the Gnostic beliefs in that they believed that the Old Testament was not scripture and
should not be treated as such.
Up until the mid to late 1900 s the knowledge about Marcion and the Gnostics was only known
through the heresiologists. (Gonzales 1984, 70) Heresiologists Christian writers that argued against
Gnosticism and its tenets. In 1945 a large collection of Gnostic writings were discovered in Egypt;

Deviance Essay
Deviance is what is considered a violation of cultural norms, and is something that is frowned
upon due to social norms. Society attempts to regulate people s thoughts and behaviors for social
control. There is a huge connection between the two because deviance varies with cultural norms,
people become deviant when others define them as such and both norms and the definition given
involve social power. Lets take the example of Brent Staple; new to New York, and was a
graduate student who had been an avid nightwalker. Mr. Staples became painfully aware that
society had seen him as deviant, because when they looked at him all they saw was a black man
wearing bulky clothes late at night walking around ready to attack someone. They... Show more

So to sum that all up categories, labels and boundary lines are constructed so that social groups
can maintain a norm and they believe allows for a functioning society. You have racially
motivated deviant boundary lines so that social groups can segregate themselves from others to
have power over each other. So why do social groups label and categorize people as deviant
based off of race? Labeling someone as deviant because of race is away for society to try and
strengthening themselves as racially segregated groups. For example if a group of whites label
a group of blacks as outcasts or deviants it gives them social control and power. Another reason
why social groups construct boundary lines, labels and categorizes is because that is their way
of keeping society functioning and keeping people within the norms of what we know as normal
and abnormal. If society cannot outcast people then we have no hierarchy and no power. With
Brent Staples he was feeling as an outsider, seeing fear from people because of his race, his
gender, his clothing as well as the fact he was out late walking around. In my opinion society is
taking away his power of freedom to be comfortable doing what many other people were doing at
night walking around, they took away his power to feel whole as an individual. All of these
factors gave the people around him the idea that he was something to be feared. It made him feel
that he needed to change, to conform to society so he would not be

Three Major Classes of Fingerprints Essay
The three basic pattern classifications of fingerprints established by Sir Edward Richard Henry
in 1896 are the arch, the loop, and the whorl. In an arch pattern, ridges flow from one side of the
finger directly to the opposite side without any deltas. This type of print accounts for about 5%
of all fingerprints. There are two types of arch patterns, the plain arch and tented arch. In a loop
pattern, the ridges flow from one side of the finger, than they curve, than pass an imaginary line
drawn from the delta to the core, and flow out the same side of the finger. They contain one delta
on the opposite side of the opening. This type of print accounts for about 70% of all fingerprints.
There are two types of loops. The two types are ulnar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A double loop whorl is the type of pattern that consists of two separate sets of loop formations,
shoulders, and deltas. An accidental whorl is the type of pattern that is composed of two types of
patterns with two or more deltas. A central pocket loop is the type of pattern that consists of one or
more recurving ridges or an obstacle at a right angle to the line of flow with two deltas. Also, when
an imaginary line is drawn, no recurving ridge near the inner pattern area is cut or touched. Sub
classes are important because they help distinguish specific prints from others quickly, therefore
illuminating some possible suspects right away.
There are three types of fingerprints that could be left at a crime scene. The three types are
latent, patent, and plastic. Latent fingerprints are made from the oil and sweat on the surface of
a person s skin. This type of print is invisible by the naked eye and requires processing for visibility
purposes. The process can be done using chemicals or powder. Patent fingerprints are made from
blood, ink, dirt, or grease and they are visible by the naked eye. Plastic fingerprints are made
when a person presses on wax, paint, or soap and they are visible by the naked eye. The three
types of fingerprints help investigators discover who was at the crime scene which can possibly
lead to the arrest of suspects.
When collecting inked prints, there is a certain process that needs to be followed. First, a person s

Substance Abuse And Chemical Dependence
From the first essay, my knowledge about addiction/chemical dependence has expanded and
grown in many levels and ways. One of the most important aspects of substance abuse that gave
me a better understanding is dependence and its cause and effect. Although I knew people like
experimenting with drugs for many reasons such as out of curiosity, have a good time, peer
pressure, and other compelling factors. However, for so long I could not grasp why or how some
people even among siblings become addicted to the drug or alcohol and some don t. While I
realize, multiple factors can contribute to certain illnesses, disorders due to genetic vulnerability,
environmental stressors, social pressures, individual personality characteristics, and certain
psychiatric problems, but which of those factors have the biggest influence. Prior to this class, I
have mistakenly assumed that drug abusers lack moral principles or willpower...to some extent, so
it was their initial decision to take the drug, however. Now I know, my perception was wrong,
though I never judged anyone for such behavior, I rather was saddened. Throughout this course, I
have learned to view dependence from a different perspective. I have learned in depth, which gave
me a better understanding that people with an addictiondo not have control over what they are
doing, taking or using. Consequently, addiction may reach a point at which it is harmful and life
threatening if is not treated. Also, I have to admit

Touching Bottom And Chrysanthemums
Seeing these stories Touching Bottom and Chrysanthemums I see feminism through women s
strength, weakness and overcome from struggles. In the story Touching Bottom women s strength
showed that the protagonist is a strong person in physically and mentally. In the story
Chrysanthemums I see Elisa s strength, she is very optimistic and satisfactory person. She can live
happy within a small circle. However through feminist point of view I found weakness in both
stories too. In the story Touching Bottom Kari s weakness is male dominance and lack of self
confidence on herself. As the story Touching Bottom in the story Chrysanthemums the weakness of
the protagonist is male dominance and lack of self confidence. However through feminist lenses I
see whether the protagonist of the story could able to overcome or not. In the story Touching
Bottom the protagonist Kari was able to overcome from struggles in contract in the story
Chrysanthemums the protagonist could not overcome from obstacles and she is still in immature
state of mind.
Women s strengthens is one of the important part in feminist critical theory. In the story Touching
Bottom the protagonist is mentally and physically strong. The protagonist really cares about
everybody in her family. She denied her father s quote about her father and married the guy she
wanted to live with, this is the quote My Dad told me to go, not to marry him. He said I would be

Are Animal Experiments For Cosmetic Research Necessary And...
Are animal experiments for cosmetic research necessary and can they be justified?
Abstract:
This report investigates animal is cosmetic testing. The introduction outlines the focus of this
report, the history of animal testing and presenting relevant case studies to illustrate the issue. The
discussion provides in depth information about animal testing by presenting two sides of the story.
The conclusion will highlight the main points learned to help decide if animal experiments are,
indeed, necessary.
Methodology:
Searching online became useful for secondary sources. Websites such as BUAV (British Union for
the Abolition of Vivisection), which offered a useful timeline, like the Cruelty Free International
campaign and how these actions contributed to stopping animal testing in the EU. Cruelty Free
International is supported by a number of celebrities including Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul
McCartney. PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) provided information about the
types and alternatives of testing. The website also listed alternatives to animal testing, such as the
Human skin models, which are considered in this report.
News articles by the BBC were very helpful when considering the pros and cons of animal testing.
A blog by The Beauty Brains provided a scientist s opinion. Social networks e.g. Facebook and
YouTube offered access to video campaigns and the public s opinions.

Kurosawa shared the intent to explore the conflicts of an individual s emotions and internal self,

The South, By Jorge Luis Borges
The opening and closing scenes of the short story The South in the book Ficciones by Jorge Luis
Borges have a large degree of influence on the way the reader experiences the story itself. The
opening scene, for example, very much sets the tone and foreshadows future event in the story
through an introductory description of the character of Dahlmann and his background. The
closing scene, on the other hand, holds a good deal of significance because it contributes a good
deal of ambiguity to the ending, as it is not known if Dahlmann died in the knife fight, died back
at the hospital, or died at all. Altogether, the opening and closing scenes both contribute to the

within the reader, causing them to wonder if all of theses events within the South of Argentina

his wish that he never could before. Also, it gives the option that he truly did make it to the South

Within A Dynamic Economy, Like The United States, Jobs
Within a dynamic economy, like the United States, jobs are lost and created and workers are
displaced and reemployed continuously. There will always be technological advancements that are
replacing jobs. For example, automation in the manufacturing industry have replaced people in the
workplace. Automation performs much more efficiently than a person performs. In this paper I am
going to analyze the effects that automation has caused in the job market and how it will continue
to affect various industries. I am also going to compare automation job loss and outsourcingjob loss.

itself on the fly when they wear out or bust. And just recently Google won a patent to start
building worker robots with personalities. There is a predisposition that robots and automation can

multiple people to do. In the near future cars may be able to drive themselves and cooking may be
completely automated. There is no limit where automation could take us and depending on the
perspective you take, its benefiting the world. It is clear by my examples above that automation
reduces the amount of labor required to produce a good or service, it produces product more
efficiently, and it promotes innovation in all industries. Is automation worth the job loss that it
creates? Can jobs be created due to an increase in automation? The United States did indeed lose

International Labor Standards Of Child Work
V. INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE International labour standards characterize child work by
its outcomes; it includes work that is rationally, physically, socially or ethically perilous and
destructive to children, and meddles with their educating. UNICEF characterizes child work as
work that surpasses a base number of hours, contingent upon the age of a child and on the sort of
work. The 18th International Conference of Labor Statisticians held at Geneva held that Child
work (slated for nullification) ought to reflect the engagement of children in undesirable
exercises and could fall into the accompanying classes:(i) Labour that is performed by a child
who is below the minimum age specified for that kind of work and that is thus likely to impede
the child s education and full development. (ii) Labour that jeopardizes the health, safety or
morals of a child, either because of its nature or because of the conditions in which it is carried
out (known as hazardous work). (iii) The worst forms of child labour other than hazardous work
which are internationally defined to encompass children (persons below 18 years of age) in
slavery, trafficking, debt bondage and other forms of forced labour, forced recruitment of children
for use in armed conflict, their use in prostitution and pornography, and illicit activities The
International Labor Organization has evaluated that in 2004 there were 218 million children caught
in child work of whom 126 million where in dangerous work. The

Comparison of the Portrayal of Nature in Blake and...
Comparison of the Portrayal of Nature in Blake and Wordsworth One of the most popular themes
for Romantic poetry in England was nature and an appreciation for natural beauty. The English
Romantic poets were generally concerned with the human imagination as a counter to the rise of
science. The growing intellectual movement of the 18th and 19th centuries placed scientific
thought in the forefront of all knowledge, basing reality in material objects. The Romantics found
this form of world view to be restrictive. They felt that imagination was crucial to individual
happiness. The imagination also provides a common human bond; a means of sympathy, of
identification. However, the absence of imagination, the Romantics felt, would lead... Show more

Nature was a theme factoring in many of his works and Blake associates nature with different
elements in these poems and we find that nature is seen in communion with God in the
introductory poem and throughout these poems Blake points out the relationship and harmony
between Man and Nature, children and Nature and he also talks about sex in Nature in `The
Blossom . In Nurse s Song , from Songs of Innocence, we find children playing outside, enjoying
nature. In this verse, time is marked by signs in the natural world. The nurse implores: then come
home, my children, the sun is gone down And the dews of night arise. . . Nature acts as a gentle
guide for the children; their only concept of time comes from the luminaries and the light they
give. The children respond to the nurse, wanting to play until the last lights in the sky are gone.
Again, scenes from nature appear. Besides, in the sky the little birds fly And the hills are all
covered with sheep. In Songs of Innocence, the dominant symbol is the child. The poems are
narrated from the standpoint of a child and represent the early stages of the human imagination. At
this point in its life, the imagination is not fully formed and does not yet contain its own
distinctive character. The innocent s world view is one of Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love where God
the creator bestows meaning upon nature. Blake s

Carpetbaggers
Carpetbaggers were northerners who headed to the southern states during and immediately after
the Civil War, propelled by wanting to work on behalf of liberated slaves, a desire for economic
gain, or a mix of both. Carpetbaggers got their name because many of them had large bags made
from carpets to hold their belongings. Although many in the South saw carpetbaggers as people
who wanted to exploit and profit from the south s misfortunes, Carpetbaggers would play an
important role in shaping the south s government during Reconstruction. African Americans in
the south who had just been emancipated were restricted their freedom when southern
legislatures passed black codes , which forced them into repressive labor situations. The Black
Codes were laws designed with the intention to guarantee African American s availability as a
cheap labor force after slavery was eliminated during the Civil War, and to keep white supremacy
in place. Common examples of Black Codes were: Race was defined by blood; the presence of
any amount of black blood made one black, Employment was required of all freedmen; violators

Surveys are utilizable in unfolding the characteristics of an astronomically immense population. No
other method of observation can provide this general competence. They can be administered from

The Gothic Theme in Dracula by Bram Stoker Essay
The Gothic Theme in Dracula by Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker s Dracula is a true Gothic novel that belongs on any gothic literature course. Focusing
in on the recurring themes, characters and settings used throughout the novel one sees how Dracula
has set the standard for Gothic literature today. The theme in Draculais that classic Gothic theme of
the epic battle of good versus evil. In this novel this is expressed in a very direct way, there is
never any question as to who is right and who is wrong. As it can be clearly seen the protagonists
on the side of good have many endearing qualities while the antagonists on the side of evil have a

Consider as well how the four men in the story risk their lives for that of Mina s. Bram Stoker
reveals his attitude towards the nature of Victorian society by making the evil side in this novel
very seductive. Even though the side of good is well aware of the harm the evil side can cause,
the seductiveness of the evil side tempts our protagonists on many occasions. For example when
Van Helsing has trouble bringing himself to stake the three women because of their physical
beauty and when Jonathan Harker nearly allows himself to be bitten by one of the women
because of how physically attracted he is to her. I felt in my heart some wicked, burning desire
that they would kiss me with those red lips. # Stoker comments on the nature of Victorian
society by showing how unacceptable it was to give in to those primal desires. This relates to the
struggle between good and evil between our heroes of Victorian society and the devilish vampires.
Vampires are in control of those evil, primal desires in the story and good people like Jonathan
Harker and Van Helsing must fight off these desires lest they lose their clean and pure Victorian
existences.
The characters in Dracula are very Gothic. Dracula is the most important antagonist in the novel.

In the 1800 s, slavery was a predominant issue in the United States, one that most Americans in the

residents were transferred to new housing estates further east or to new towns in Essex.
Immigrants started to emerge and the population started to increase. The earliest of immigrants to
arrive were from the West Indies bringing over their Caribbean creole. Kerswill describes
responses to MLE in the media, where it has been referred to as Jafaican , a term that sounds black
. The sociolinguists term multiethnolect , then, reflects the fact that MLE is spoken by young
people from all ethnic groups living in the multilingual inner city area. Other researchers of
Multicultural London English are Jenny Cheshire and Sue Fox, who refers to this dialect as Multi

The Purpose Of Teaching
Introduction.
Teaching in a classroom is like leading a team to the top of a mountain. Teaching especially when
having a class full of children is the ultimate challenge, because they are new for what they are
dealing with, but it can be also a source of fun to deal with these pure natured souls. Teaching
students at higher classes is much easier, because most of them are independent, and they can think
more about what they learn in class. The purpose of chosen teaching as a profession, curriculum,
teaching methods and teacher s roles are discussed in the following.
Purpose.
Teaching is like leadership. Teachers lead their students to achieve their goals during the study
period. It s a great honor to help my students by giving them the encouragement that they need to
make their dreams come true. The main reason of chosen education as a profession is to follow the
massage of Allah to build our planet. The nations can t raise without educated individuals, so I will
try to make my students aware about the ongoing situations around the country and which might be
related to the course I m going to teach. This will help the students in linking the topics which are
taught in class to the events that are happening worldwide.
Curriculum.
The curriculum that I m going to follow is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will help my students sharing their knowledge with me and vice versa. Moreover, I will let
my students explain their points and views about any topic to me first and then to their
classmates. Furthermore, I will try to make the teaching and learning process more joyful and
flexible so my students would love attending my classes so they are not going to be absent as
long as I m teaching them. Add to that, if they loved a class they are going to do their best in order
to get more knowledge about that specific subject. This might help my students achieving high
marks in other courses as

What Did Joan Didion Do When To Get Home
The first thing I do when I finally get home, after sliding face up, with my bike and soccer bag
forming a haphazard 45 pound pile resting on my chest, down the near vertical 50 foot gravel
slope of a highway overpass in construction, is find out the extent to which the outer layers of my
skin are still connected to my back. I do this in the garage, careful that only brother is with me
because I know my parents will worry. As I pull up my shirt, revealing my raw back to the glaring
white LEDs overhead, I hear a kind of gasp as my brother exclaims that looks really bad! He
takes a picture so I can see for myself. To be fair, a majority of my back is indeed quite red. But
the scrapes only cover the surface, the stinging has subsided, and I am safely home. So, with this
in mind, I laugh and try to reassure my brother. It s really not that bad, I tell him repeatedly. I say
that often these days. These words, as regards both this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this subject in mind, (in the somewhat broader sense of it being a challenging personal
aspect particular to Didion herself), I decided to write about how, because I started late on my
driving education, I am forced to bike essentially everywhere. Of course, as opposed to the
apparently iron fate of Didion s genetic profile, I have no one but myself to blame for this;
however, I feel my adventures with biking complements Didion s troubles with migraines in the
sense that both are aspects relatively unique to our specific lives, both traits that a superficial
conversation might not reveal right away and both traits that often give rise to troublesome (and if
we see the bright side, often educational and even humorous) misadventures. Okay, the latter
perhaps only in my case. Didion has the worse lot here, I would

John Burgoyne War
John Burgoyne was a British general best known for his defeat by superior American forces in the
Saratoga campaign of 1777, during the American revolution. He was the son of a British army
captain, Burgoyne got an education at Westminster and went to the military after that. While
Burgoyne was a junior officer, he met the daughter of Lord Derby. But at the time Burgoyne had
been so poor he sold his commission, also left to France. When he got to France he studied French
literature and continental military practice. After that Derby s influence allowed Burgoyne to
return to the military life style. In the seven years, of war Burgoyne promoted to the raising of light
cavalry similar to some continental forces. He gave instructions telling his

Early Intervention In Social Work
Understanding neighborhood and communities The neighborhood, where I grew up was a
middle class family community. It was a simple area, everybody knew each other. The adults
recognized how many children there are in each house. Most of the people were home owners,
there were a few who rented but the residents make it their business to get acquainted with them.
It was calm and pleasant neighborhood. The neighbors would go out and live their doors open
with no worries. Safety was not an issue because their take care of each other. As a child I did
not have anything to fear about except my homework in case I decided to go play before I was

  • 2. Loss Of Innocence In Macbeth My image shows the flag of Scotland (setting), although I used different colors to represent my character, Macbeth. They had two older brothers, Reuchlin and Lorin, and a younger sister Katharine who happened to share a birthday with Wilbur. Their father was a minister, in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, and spent a lot of time traveling for the church. During one of his trips their father found a small rubber band powered toy helicopter made of paper, bamboo, and cork. It was modeled after the work of Alphonse Pe`naud; a French aeronautical pioneer. This was the beginning of their fascination with aeronautics. In 1878, Milton became a Bishop in the church and moved the family to Iowa. Neither of the Wright brothers received a high school diploma. Wilbur had enough credits to graduate, but the family moved back to Dayton, Ohio during his senior year. Orville dropped out in the eleventh grade, and went on to design and build his own printing press made from a broken tombstone and buggy parts. With Wilbur as the editor, the two brothers started their own weekly paper called West Side News. In 1892, they opened a bicycle rental and repair shop. • 4. Reality Shows And The Reality Of Reality Television,... Nowadays, there is a wide selection of reality shows, which audiences can pick and watch. The reason why there are so many different types of reality shows is due to the expansion of the broadcasting industry and the need to ingratiate the taste of the public. Although most people will agree the term reality shows is used to identify shows that have arisen since the 21st century, the appearance of reality televisionshows actually emerged earlier than everyone thought. For example, Allen Funt s Candid Camera, which was the first reality show in the United States, arose in 1948 wherein real people respond to funny pranks or unusual situations for the first time ever under hidden cameras (Beck 6). Apart from the entertainment reality shows, non fictional entertainment shows such as documentaries about ordinary people, quiz and game shows also appeared during the 1990s (Beck 4). Therefore, the aim for people to watch reality shows at that time is entertainment and education. Yet, as time progresses, distinct subgenres of reality shows such as the makeover shows, celebrity reality shows as well as dating shows developed in the 21st century and the realness of reality shows has become controversial. The authenticity of reality shows has become debatable not only because of these people are oftentimes getting paid to be filmed on camera, but also because exaggerations of manliness, beauty, and wealth are often portrayed in these programs, thus causing audiences to consider them ... The two advertisements both have copy but in the Clinique one it is much longer because it is aimed at an older target audience who are more interested in the copy content. His mind became weak from his reading his many romances of chivalry (Samuel, 57). His mind became stuffed with fantasy accounts of tournaments, knightly quests, damsels or women in distress, and strange enchantments (Grossvogel, 89). Edward Kennedy Duke Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Duke s band became very prosperous and they had their own spot on the Cotton Club floor with special lighting and accommodations. At the year of 1928 the band consisted of Bubber Miley, Freddy Jenkins, and Arthur Whetsol on trumpet, joined with Tricky Sam Nanton, and Juan Tizol on trombone. The dualist, for the purposes of this paper, simply believes that the mind and the body are not equal and therefore, they are not one in the same. But, in another section of Jackson s article, he refers back to the famous article What is it Like to Be a Bat?, written by the philosopher Thomas Nagel, to help strengthen his argument against physicalism. Jackson states how there is no amount of physical information that could possibly tell us what it is like to be anything other than a human being (Jackson 416 417). Society attempts to regulate people s thoughts and behaviors for social control. There is a huge connection between the two because deviance varies with cultural norms, people become deviant when others define them as such and both norms and the definition given involve social power. Lets take the example of Brent Staple; new to New York, and was a graduate student who had been an avid nightwalker. Mr. Staples became painfully aware that society had seen him as deviant, because when they looked at him all they saw was a black man wearing bulky clothes late at night walking around ready to attack someone. So to sum that all up categories, labels and boundary lines are constructed so that social groups can maintain a norm and they believe allows for a functioning society. You have racially motivated deviant boundary lines so that social groups can segregate themselves from others to have power over each other. So why do social groups label and categorize people as deviant based off of race? Labeling someone as deviant because of race is away for society to try and strengthening themselves as racially segregated groups. For example if a group of whites label a group of blacks as outcasts or deviants it gives them social control and power. Another reason why social groups construct boundary lines, labels and categorizes is because that is their way of keeping society functioning and keeping people within the norms of what we know as normal and abnormal. If society cannot outcast people then we have no hierarchy and no power. With Brent Staples he was feeling as an outsider, seeing fear from people because of his race, his gender, his clothing as well as the fact he was out late walking around. In my opinion society is taking away his power of freedom to be comfortable doing what many other people were doing at night walking around, they took away his power to feel whole as an individual. All of these factors gave the people around him the idea that he was something to be feared. It made him feel that he needed to change, to conform to society so he would not be ... In an arch pattern, ridges flow from one side of the finger directly to the opposite side without any deltas. This type of print accounts for about 5% of all fingerprints. There are two types of arch patterns, the plain arch and tented arch. In a loop pattern, the ridges flow from one side of the finger, than they curve, than pass an imaginary line drawn from the delta to the core, and flow out the same side of the finger. Also, when an imaginary line is drawn, no recurving ridge near the inner pattern area is cut or touched. In the story Touching Bottom women s strength showed that the protagonist is a strong person in physically and mentally. In the story Chrysanthemums I see Elisa s strength, she is very optimistic and satisfactory person. She can live happy within a small circle. However through feminist point of view I found weakness in both stories too. In the story Touching Bottom Kari s weakness is male dominance and lack of self confidence on herself. As the story Touching Bottom in the story Chrysanthemums the weakness of the protagonist is male dominance and lack of self confidence. However through feminist lenses I see whether the protagonist of the story could able to overcome or not. In the story Touching Bottom the protagonist Kari was able to overcome from struggles in contract in the story Chrysanthemums the protagonist could not overcome from obstacles and she is still in immature state of mind. Women s strengthens is one of the important part in feminist critical theory. In the story Touching Bottom the protagonist is mentally and physically strong. The protagonist really cares about everybody in her family. Abstract: This report investigates animal is cosmetic testing. The introduction outlines the focus of this report, the history of animal testing and presenting relevant case studies to illustrate the issue. The discussion provides in depth information about animal testing by presenting two sides of the story. The conclusion will highlight the main points learned to help decide if animal experiments are, indeed, necessary. Methodology: Searching online became useful for secondary sources. Websites such as BUAV (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection), which offered a useful timeline, like the Cruelty Free International campaign and how these actions contributed to stopping animal testing in the EU. Cruelty Free International is supported by a number of celebrities including Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul McCartney. PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) provided information about the types and alternatives of testing. The website also listed alternatives to animal testing, such as the Human skin models, which are considered in this report. News articles by the BBC were very helpful when considering the pros and cons of animal testing. A blog by The Beauty Brains provided a scientist s opinion. The opening scene, for example, very much sets the tone and foreshadows future event in the story through an introductory description of the character of Dahlmann and his background. The closing scene, on the other hand, holds a good deal of significance because it contributes a good deal of ambiguity to the ending, as it is not known if Dahlmann died in the knife fight, died back at the hospital, or died at all. Comparison of the Portrayal of Nature in Blake and Wordsworth One of the most popular themes for Romantic poetry in England was nature and an appreciation for natural beauty. The English Romantic poets were generally concerned with the human imagination as a counter to the rise of science. The growing intellectual movement of the 18th and 19th centuries placed scientific thought in the forefront of all knowledge, basing reality in material objects. The Romantics found this form of world view to be restrictive. They felt that imagination was crucial to individual happiness. In Nurse s Song , from Songs of Innocence, we find children playing outside, enjoying nature. In this verse, time is marked by signs in the natural world. The nurse implores: then come home, my children, the sun is gone down And the dews of night arise. . . Nature acts as a gentle guide for the children; their only concept of time comes from the luminaries and the light they give. The children respond to the nurse, wanting to play until the last lights in the sky are gone. Again, scenes from nature appear. Besides, in the sky the little birds fly And the hills are all covered with sheep. In Songs of Innocence, the dominant symbol is the child. The poems are narrated from the standpoint of a child and represent the early stages of the human imagination. At this point in its life, the imagination is not fully formed and does not yet contain its own distinctive character.
