Biology Enzyme Experiement
An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy required
to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting factors are
introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and
temperature. When an enzyme is at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their
globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of
amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate binds and the
reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique shape into which only a
substrate of the exact same unique shape can fit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when renin is
added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in which
enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases.
Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the temperature
of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the
time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and
at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH
level.
In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for the
milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained thus
impacted on our results.
VARIABLES

Analysis Of Resumen Y Metodolomica
Show more content on

study seeks to determine the relationship between the socio economic position of families and the
consumption of electrical energy generated by them. In this study, the most common indicator
(although it is not the most appropriate) regarding the subject, will be taken as a reference of
socioeconomic position; the social stratum. Regarding to the consumption, a data collection will be
made of two sample populations, A and B. Population A corresponds to 50 families associated with a
public institution, while B corresponds to the same number of families, but associated with a private
one. The collection consists of the monthly average of electricity consumption in KWh and the
stratum assigned to the dwelling, both stipulated in the invoice of the company providing the service.
Annex to the invoice is indicated in the number of consumers of said invoice, this in order to obtain

Is Equality Making Us Sick
If I were to tell you that based on your economic standpoint in life that in its self could help determine
the future of your health, would you believe me or call me absurd? A recent documentary called Is
Equality Making Us Sick takes a strong argument to show that the life you grow up in or even build
for yourself can determine such a factor that seems only fitting for God to decide. This factor is called
social determinants of health, meaning that based on your access to income and education this will
help determine your life span (Unnatural causes). Social, as well as income inequality will be what
puts you on your death bed faster or slower and is a matter that shall not be taken lightly.
So, how is it in a country as flourished as The United States can we face such an issue? A country
where we have the highest growth domestic product (Washington Post, year), a country where our
athletes prove us again and again that we are on top of the world, beating record after record. After all
this, how can we still be so inclined that our health is not at its prime game, as it should be? Has our
competition with the rest of the world belittle us and blinded us with our own corners of the world.
The harsh reality is that the United States lead 30th in life expectancy and our overall life expectancy
is just shy of 78 years (Unnatural Causes/put publication and year for documentary citation). This has
to do with the opportunities we give our citizens and their limits; limits such

Hamlet, Prince Of Denmark, By William Shakespeare
The famous tragedy entitled Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, often abbreviated to Hamlet and written at
the turn of the seventeenth century, was the playwright William Shakespeare s longest play and among
the most influential works to exist in English literature. The play dramatizes the poisonous intents of
the demonically brilliant king of Denmark, Claudius, a man so driven by greed and lust for his brother
s, King Hamlet s, throne, wife and supremacy that he commits the ultimate act of fratricide,
consequently inheriting the primal eldest curse of Cain and Abel. His toxic act affected his
relationships with numerous other characters, and eventually led to several of their demises. Prince
Hamlet, son of the late King Hamlet and Claudius nephew and step son, was one such example of a
character directly affected by Claudius venomous ways; he became suicidal after his father s unnatural
death. This essay will examine the poisonous nature of King Claudius, the inadvertent penalties of his
deeds and Hamlet s extensive use of the trope of poison.
In the complex web of human destinies, where so many lives are meshed intricately together, the
freely chosen actions of one individual may breed damaging, entirely unforeseeable effects in the lives
of countless anonymous others. (On Evil, Terry Eagleton, p. 33). Eagleton, a prominent British literary
theorist and critic, is essentially saying here that one s actions can have a profound effect on many

8th Grade Singing
Hello,
There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both choirs.
Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried
to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to
produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a
very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones,
among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my
boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them
simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her
boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. Combining
both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone production, and create a full choir sound.
This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although our Planned Course document does not differentiate between grade levels it is known in the
musical world that 8th grade choir should be able to sing in easy three part harmony by the end of the

bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a group of boys with
ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. To promote healthy singing and a
confident choir it is important for them to be combined. Because the music is more difficult it will

Theme Of Barbie Doll And The Death Of Marilyn Monroie
Poetry has a way of expressing its rage, grief, and irony at society and its social pressures. Although
each poem is different, they can carry a similar message that resonance with its audience. Barbie Doll
by Marge Piercy and The Death of Marilyn Monroe by Sharon Olds express how beauty weighs
women s lives and cause a tragic end from being the perfect specimen. Both discuss a similar theme
but carry the message out a difference way. In order to understand its similarities and differences it is
necessary to analyze the text to find its denotation and connotation. The poems Barbie Doll and The
Death of Marilyn Monroe share the themes of death and beauty, and how beauty affects society.
In Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy it tells the story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both poems use names from iconic beauty icons. Barbies are seen by little girls and are the first things
to influence how they should define beauty. Normally the dolls have skinny bodies and small noses
and are able to have multiple careers and are admired by men. Thus, little girls grow up wanting to be
like Barbie. Marilyn Monroe is a sex icon who looks other women began to copy. Unlike Barbie she
was curvy and had an acting career, but she was also adored by men. Both icons influenced women on
how to look and impress men, but the influence becomes problematic and difficult to maintain
because only dolls and superstars to can survive that life. Even idols cannot survive that life, as proven
by Monroe. Only Barbie, an object can be seen as the perfect woman. Both poems use these names to
highlight how impossible it is for women to seen as normal or to be accepted as they are. Thus, an
early death can happen when the pressure is too much to handle and each poem has a tone of sadness
at both women s death. However, the Death of Marilyn Monroe encourages women to live and not be
like the icons they admire, while Barbie Doll see s it fit to strive for beauty until the

The Model Of Emergent Leadership
Tuvia Bielski:
The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a situation
where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ? Some people
may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born with the necessary
qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other
character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define
leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from promoting what is
right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When you are a leader you gain a
certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you
get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this.
Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The movie
unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His
characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was then.
Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in.
Defining Leadership
Leadership means the period during which a person occupies the position of leader. A leader is
someone who brings a group of people together, and directs them toward a common goal. Someone

The Importance Of Physical Activity
The use of pedometers and tracking tools for physical activity has allowed me to measure my energy
expenditure per day though tracking my steps, calculating the duration of physical activity completed
per week and analyzing the intensity and the type of activity I engage in. There are specific guidelines
set out for all age groups to attain the goal of the exercising while increasing the levels of intensity and
decreasing sedentary behaviors . This reflection will outline tips and tricks to staying active and
reducing sedentary activity. I will identify the facilitators and barriers to exercising through the
analyses of my physical activity log while highlighting the strengths and weakness of my physical
activity habits. Exercise overtime will improve current fitness; it will increase Cardio respiratory

attend three classes a day that vary in length, but accumulates to five hours a day of sitting, this does
not include the time spent studying and completing assignments. I spend an average of a minimum of
three to six hours per day studying aside from going to class, this contributes to eight to eleven hours
per day of sedentary activity. The average time adults spend in

The s Impact On Canadian Constructions Of Heritage And Islam
Spectacle and the Universal: ISIL s Impact on Canadian Constructions of Heritage and Islam Context
and Research Question: In August 2015, after capturing the ancient Roman site of Palmyra, the
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) spectacularly exploded the remains of the Temple of Bel
and the Temple of Baalshamin. They immediately spread the images of their destruction online by
creating videos and news reports. ISIL s acts of destruction mark the largest scale mass destruction of
antiquities by one group since the Second World War (Kulish and Myers 2016), and their videos are
extremely effective in disseminating their spectacles outside of the Middle East. Scholars in art
history, archaeology, and law consider these acts the destruction of cultural heritage (Harmanşah 2015;
Bauer 2015; Brodie 2015; Drasewska 2015; He 2015; Kila 2015). In particular, ISIL s videos seek to
defy Western European ideas about cultural heritage which are often cast as universal (Meskell 2002,
568) and engage a worldwide audience through carefully articulated performances. However, the
many Canadian journalists using digital media to protest the destruction and reassert their own
humanitarian, cosmopolitan, and civilized heritage values clearly mark the success of this strategy
(Manley 2016). In fact, a trend emerged where popular news stories claim that ISIL is destroying the
heritage that belongs to all of humanity (Harmanşah 2015, 173). Some scholars dispute the validity of

Analysis Of The Joys And Sorrows Of Mary
The museum that I visited was the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida. The artwork I
viewed was titled, The Joys and Sorrows of Mary (Life of Christ) and this art piece was created
around 1375 to 1400
The artwork, The Joys and Sorrows of Mary (Life of Christ), was created in Late Gothic period.
I am comparing The Joys and Sorrows of Mary and the Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus
Organization:
In The Joys and Sorrows of Mary diptych, the author utilizes gothic style, with lancet windows,
pointed arches, and also seemed to be going for corinthian type columns. The author organized the art
piece in a realistic, natural way, paying close attention to detail, and carving the art in high relief,
allowing people to see the art scenes from a distance. The facial expressions are simple, kind, and the
body language is subtle. The Virgin Mary also stands in Gothic S curve stance in the Annunciation,
where her movement is smooth and continuous, and her weight is shifted toward her right side
(Anonymous). The lower four scenes represent the Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, and Adoration
of the Magi. The upper scenes represent Noli me tangere ( touch me not ), the Crucifixion,
Presentation in the Temple, and the Coronation of the Virgin (Anonymous). In the Sarcophagus of
Junius Bassus, the artist combined Roman and Christian characteristics to represent Junius Bassus
conversion from Paganism to Christianity. The sarcophagus has different biblical scenes carved in

Eric Thomas Reflection
After watching the Eric Thomas video, My initial impact was feeling a great deal of disappointment in
myself. The reason for this disappointment, was because I felt like his words were directed towards
me. There are times when you realize you fail, but you cannot bring yourself to admit that it was your
fault and your fault alone. And I tend to blame my failures on the circumstances surrounding me,
rather than my incapability in putting one hundred percent of my effort in what I want to accomplish.
Hearing Eric Thomas speak with extensive passion, made me feel inspired and passionate about
putting one hundred percent, and even beyond that in everything I desire to accomplish. Failing to put
in all the effort you know you are capable of is a major let down, because you know you can do better
if you tried your best. You have to sum up all the effort you have, even if the outcomes may not be as
what you had expected, rather than allow yourself to live in a state ... Show more content on

how small it is. You only win and accomplish things if you set your mind to do so, and you fail if you

After watching Eric Thomas, I decided that I will take several actions in order to change my attitude
towards my goals. Starting from today, I will wake up passionate about the what I want to achieve, set
goals in my mind, and work my best to accomplish them. I will put in all my effort in everything I do,

The Potentinal for Ozone in BTEX-Contaminated Sites
Ozone is a highly oxidative chemical known to be capable of degrading many types of organic
contaminants, including both chemicals and organisms. It is known in the grain industry to be useful
for disinfecting cereals without affecting quality of the cereal. This includes microbial inactivation,
killing pests, degrading certain pesticides and fungicides, and mycotoxins (Tiwari et al. 2010). Ozone
also has an important role in the treatment of wastewater for similar reasons. It is used in the treatment
train at both the Alfred Merritt Smith and River Mountains treatment plants in Las Vegas (SNWA
2014). The ozonation processes in these plants kill off bacteria and microorganisms by bubbling ozone
into the wastewater. As ozone dissipates within several minutes, no residue is left after treatment,
though certain disinfection byproducts can potentially be formed depending on the constituents in the
wastewater, and the placement of ozonation in the treatment train (Gerrity et al. 2010). Certain organic
contaminants of interest, including ___, tend to have long half lives and low water solubility, which
can make traditional and natural forms of remediation ineffective. The past decade has shown that
ozone can be used in the remediation of contaminated soils, primarily by in situ ozonation systems. As
mentioned previously, ozone is an unstable chemical that has a half life of around two minutes (Dey,
Rosenwinkel, Wheeler 2002). In the process of oxidation, ozone reacts with

Chemistry of Fireworks
The Chemistry of Fireworks A firework is an incendiary device or material that can be used for
signaling or entertainment. There are chemicals located in the nose of the rocket that explode,
producing the colors seen. Fireworks were originally created for the purpose of entertainment and
today they are still widely used in celebration to mark special occasions. The thrill and excitement
generated by fireworks, brightening the night sky and immersing it with vivid displays of color and
technicality, is what makes them a crowd pleaser. But behind all the excitement of fireworks,
chemistry plays an important role in creating the vivid colors we witness lighting up the sky. The

After the division of the kingdom, many Israelites experienced displacement, loss and trauma when
they were exiled to Assyria and Babylon, and even when some of them returned to the land, life was
never the same (e.g. 2 Kings 24:14 16; but see also Jeremiah 29:4 7). Ancient Israel possessed laws
designed to ensure the just treatment of strangers and aliens, persons who were not ethnic members of
the nation but who were protected by law (e.g. Deuteronomy 24:17 18). The law also recognised the
non assimilating stranger (Leviticus 19:33 34a), whose different customs were respected and
protected. And, despite Israel s commitment to racial and religious purity, these foreigners were able
to share in Israel s cultural and religious life. The story of Rahab (Joshua 6:24f) and Ruth (Ruth 1:1
22; 4:13 17) demonstrate the radical nature of Israel s commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable
and the outsider. The reason often given for these gracious principles was the memory of the harsh
experience of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt (e.g. Exodus 23:9; Deuteronomy 10:17
19). Further, the welcome and care of foreigners was structured into Israel s gleaning and tithing laws
(Leviticus 19:9 10; Deuteronomy 14:28 29). Finally, there were designated places of sanctuary (not
detention) in ancient Israel, where refugees could live in peace and safety while their claims were
being processed (Numbers 35:6 15). The New

Ewing s Sarcoma Case Study
Ewing s sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that grows in the bones. It is usually found in longer bones of
the arms or legs. The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the bones of the
pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest.
It is the second most common type of cancer found in children. Ewing s sarcoma typically occurs in
people between 10 and 20 years old. However, it can occur at any age.
CAUSES
No one knows exactly what causes Ewing s sarcoma. Certain changes in genes seem to cause this
cancer; but what causes those changes is not known. The cancer occurs in white males more than any
other group of people.
Other possible causes include:
Injury or damage to the bone.
Radiation from an earlier cancer treatment.
SYMPTOMS
The major signs and symptoms of Ewing s Sarcoma are:
Fever with no cause.
Bones that break too easily.
Weight loss.
No desire to eat.

Ewing s sarcoma is diagnosed through a variety of tests:
An X ray may show where the tumor is located.
A bone scan may show whether other bones are affected.
A bone marrow sample helps find signs of cancer that could be affecting blood production.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a diagnostic test that uses large magnets, radio frequencies, and
a computer to make images of organs and structures within the body. This test outlines the extent of
the tumor within the bone and joint and the relationship of the tumor to the muscles, nerves and blood
vessels.

Design
This naturalistic observation was conducted to observe the door holding behaviors performed by
young adults as a way to examine courteousness, or consideration of others.
Three possible behaviors were identified: Did Not Hold, Held Door, Stepped Aside. A coding of Did
Not Hold meant that the participant had the opportunity to hold the door for the person behind them,
but did not make any attempt to do so. Held Door was coded when a participant held his or her hand

The experimenter hypothesized that the Hold Door behavior would occur most frequently. The results
of the study support this hypothesis, as more than three fourths of the participants performed this

college students schedules vary, a more representative sample could have been obtained had the
observations taken place at several different times of day. Additionally, the fact that the study was
conducted at a dining hall may have affected the results, as it is possible that people who did not have
a campus meal plan were unintentionally excluded from the study. Recording door holding behaviors

Remember the Contributions of the First Sailors
We must always remember with gratitude and admiration the first sailors who steered their vessels
through storms and mists, and increased our knowledge of the land... Ronald Amundsen). Although
not all explorers of the Pacific Northwest were sailors, all of them deserve to be honored because of
the contribution their expeditions made to WA. The first non Indians that came to the Pacific
Northwest were most likely from China or Japan and drifted ashore by accident. After them, came
European explorers and later, American explorers who traveled for many reasons like to find the
Northwest Passage or because they were sent to learn information about the mysterious land. Some
famous explorers of the Pacific Northwest include Lewis Clark, who were sent by Thomas Jefferson,
Vitus Berling, which proved that Asia America were separate continents, and Robert Gray who
claimed the Oregon territory; explorers like these their expeditions helped shape Washington into what
it is today. The explorers of the Pacific Northwest should be honored by having a monument built for
them in their favor because they made several contributions to the development of Washington State,
these contributions include making maps charts for the area, building forts, and bringing back detailed
journals from (or of?) their expeditions
To begin, one contribution explorers made for (or to?) Washington was making maps charts of the
area, this was important because it helped later travelers find their way

Possible Solutions to the Foreclosure Crisis Essay
The purpose of this writing is to analyze the foreclosure crisis and offer some solutions to keep people
in their homes and satisfy the financial accounting records of the banking industry. With more lost
jobs on the horizon and fluctuating adjustable mortgage rates, the foreclosure crisis continues to
plague America. A recent report from the Mortgage Bankers Association reveals that 14% of loans are
behind or in foreclosure. This is largely due to lost jobs in this volatile economy. Many factors are
involved in addressing a situation like this and one solution alone cannot solve the crisis. We saw
millions of dollars in stimulus money go to lending institutions only to be left wondering why the
problem is not going away.

A few other problems that have arisen as a result of the crisis include lost revenue for cities, increased
crime and, of course, more properties that are vacant. Many places are also reporting a large increase
in homelessness. One group alone is not going to solve the crisis, nor is one solution by itself. There
has to be a combined effort of three major groups and a set of several solutions deployed at once to
gain ground and overtake the crisis. We will discuss this in the next section.
The Solution Currently, we are seeing some waffling going on concerning this issue in Washington
D.C. along with some lending institutions that will not work with homeowners. This is where the start
of the solution lies. The government, by means of a qualified representative, a large banking
conglomerate overseeing lending institutions and a small group of geographically diverse homeowners
in foreclosure will need to come together to form a coalition. This coalition s sole purpose will be to
work together, with a common goal, to solve this crisis. This group, along with government imposed
rules upon lenders based on solutions, will have the authority to set in motion a plan that will move
toward solving the crisis. We will now look at some solutions, which if employed in conjunction with
each other, will satisfy accounting procedures, keep homeowners

Residential School Vs. Residential Schools
When taking this program one of the first subject learned within the first nations course was
residential schools, and how they were one of many elements to the colonization of the First Nations
peoples. When in class talking about residential schools could be summed up with discussing
displacement and how the Europeans would take indigenous children to schools far from their homes,
cut their hair, and feed them food they weren t used to. According to Eric Hanson, Two primary
objectives of the residential school system were to remove and isolate children from the influence of
their homes, families, traditions and cultures, and to assimilate them into the dominant culture (2009).
Based off this knowledge but not limited to, the class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout history countries all over have gone through processes of continuous control, and
dominance being held over them which we know as colonization. And through colonization cultural
practices have been taken along with languages, and spiritual beliefs with the opposites of whatever
those may be imposed on them. Residential schools, one of many elements of colonization when it
comes to the Indigenous peoples had a number of these included; as stated by CBC news (2008),
Students were discouraged from speaking their first language or practising native traditions. If they
were caught, they would experience severe punishment. Native traditions can include spiritual
practice, beliefs, language, clothing and more which were all forbidden to be participated in. This not
only oppresses the child, but causes anxiety knowing that if they re caught punishment would follow
afterwards. These elements that make up the Indigenous culture were forbidden to the children
attending these schools, and in turn are replaced with western beliefs systems. Belief systems in some
cases would be Christianity since Church s ran the school at that time; ..The Roman Catholic Church

Christianity was imposed on them, and that once these

My Favorite Movies
Whenever I was dealing with any stress or problems, I would go to the movie theatre and sit down and
immerse myself in a two hour long film. And all of a sudden all my problems were not an issue. It s
like if the smell of fresh popcorn, sweet candy, and thirst quenching soda was a doctor s
recommendation. The sound of crowds waiting eager to see an upcoming flick they ve been anxious
about pleased my ears; this atmosphere of innocence and joy caused me to make this theatre my safe
haven. I always found it fascinating how long it takes for movies to be made, so at the end of every
movie I had an itch that said you can do that too. Then after watching an abundance of movies I
finally scratched what I had felt. It was the beginning itch to become a filmmaker. This was in my 8th
grade year and I initially thought this must be a phase, because my mom said so. At the time I had no
equipment ,no knowledge of how cameras or editing actually work, so maybe my mom was right,
maybe it was all phase. Like I had said going to the movies was almost like a routine. Most of the
movies I watched were made with computer generated imagery, green screens, or a budget so big it
made your jaw drop. However this caused me to think how were movies made twenty or even thirty
years ago. This began the love of watching 80 s movies. E.T. , Breakfast Club, and Back to the Future,
sparked the thought I don t need high budgets to make memorable movies. Yet, it wasn t till watching

Who Is The Clone Of Never Let Me Go
Kazuo Ishiguro s novel Never Let Me Go is both a piece of science fiction and political commentary.
The narrative exists in a liminal space in which scientific and technological advances intermingle with
highly polarized ethical debates, allowing it to question the consequences of living in an ever
advancing society with underdeveloped morals. However, the novel s narrator, a clone named Kathy
H., remains distant within her society s blend of politics and scientific processes, despite being
directly affected by both, and the language that she uses to discuss her life as a clone highlights that
distance.
There is no hard science in Never Let Me Go. However, the popularization of making science widely
available and easily understandable to the general public allows Never Let Me Go, a novel that rarely
involves science despite requiring it in order to exist, to fill a relatively new niche in the broad genre
of science fiction. As Griffin states, the story is concerned with the effect of science rather than its
practice (Griffin 648); however, considering that Kathy H. and the book s audience live among the
effects of science instead of within its practice, Ishiguro s distant and rather undefined scientific
landscape is rather appropriate. No one really understands what is going on around them. Kathy, a
clone, seems to know about as much about the process of cloning as the people reading her
testimonies, and that lack of understanding is the foundation of her confusion when Miss Emily
confronts her with the reality of the ethical dilemmas of clones rights and quality of life towards the
end of the story.
The use of simple euphemisms further distances the story from ... Show more content on

The Swastika And Symbolism In Hinduism
THE MISINTERPRETED SWASTIKA
The word swastika is Sanskrit symbolizes good fortune . The swastika is an ancient religious icon
used in India, where it has been and remains a sacred symbol of spiritual principles in Hinduism. In
India from thousand of year clockwise swastik represented light or sun and anti clockwise version
represented darkness
Swa in swastika means one s own possession to imself or herself , natural and inborn.Asthi means
present that exists or being. Therefore, swasthi means self existence, the fact that one is alive and
awake. In Sanskrit, swasti is used as an blessing or declaration, meaning, may you be good, maybe it
good.
Buddhism has is own meaning for swasitk, it represent the foot print of Buddha.
The Swastika is one of the great example of what has happened to Hindu beliefs in Europe and other
parts of the world. The Europeans saw its as a variation of cross. They also felt it was a symbol of the
sun. These are nothing but false constructs . Just as the theories invented by some of scholars from

How Did The Cold War Affect The Middle East
What impact did the Cold War have on the Middle East?
We see the cold war as a period of hostility, which ended in 1989 between the Soviet Union and the
USA in which neither country fired shots at each other directly but engaged in proxy wars to
propagate their opposing ideological views and expand their influence globally. The tentacles of the
opposing sides spread globally and the Middle East was no exception and it is impossible to know
what influence Oil had. In 1953 the countries of the Middle East were developing, post colonial and
non aligned but the shah of Iran, supported by the USA was being challenged pro communist Iranian
nationalists.

On July 14, 1958, the Iraqi monarchy was overthrown in a military coup. The new government was
led by General Abdul Karim Qasim who withdrew Iraq from the Baghdad Pact, opened diplomatic
relations with Soviet Union and adopted a non aligned stance. The organization dropped the name
Baghdad Pact in favor of CENTO at that time.
CENTO did little to prevent the expansion of Soviet influence to non member states in the area.
Whatever containment value the pact might have had was lost when the Soviets leap frogged the
member states, establishing close military and political relationships with governments in Egypt,
Syria, Iraq, the People s Democratic Republic of Yemen, Somalia, and Libya. By 1970, the USSR had
deployed over 20,000 troops to Egypt, and had established naval bases in Syria, Somalia, and P.D.R.
Yemen.
The Iranian revolution spelled the end of the organization in 1979, but in reality, it essentially had
been finished since 1974, when Turkey invaded Cyprus. This led the United Kingdom to withdraw
forces that had been earmarked to the alliance,[citation needed] and the United States Congress halted
Turkish military aid despite two Presidential vetoes.[5] With the fall of the Iranian monarchy,
whatever remaining rationale for the organization was lost. Future U.S. and British defense
agreements with regional countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and the Persian Gulf states were

Analysis Of The Lansdowne Athlete By Lysippos
Ancient sculptures bring on endless philosophical arguments regarding what is an appropriate form of
perfection, defined as a fit body guided by a keen mind. This paper will approach a visual essence of
the sculpture of The Lansdowne Athlete, by Lysippos, Rome 340 330 B.C. marble after a bronze
original, that I viewed at the LACMA. This sculpture is located in the left wing of Greek exhibition
Building, 3rd floor. I selected this sculpture as an example of an idealized body. Therefore, I will be
explaining the historical background of the sculpture and address why I think it would make a good
addition to our text. I will provide an analogy with other sculpture of idealized body from our
textbook chapter 12 on Mind and Body mainly. I will impart more information about the essence of
idealized human form as well as cultural ideals during this time period in Greece.
The Lansdowne Athlete at the LACMA is an example of a well developed ideal body and carefully
controlled proportions to all body parts. This sculpture is a Roman copy of an original by Lysippos
made in the 1st century. It is a marble statue of 75 inches in height. The figure is in the contrapposto
stance common of the style at the time and is taking a step forward. The figure still has integrity even
though it has a few missing parts. Its face, which is important, is more or less intact and the standing
upright with its impression of movement still visible. The missing arms, if they were restored would
not add much to the sculpture and the addition of these parts will not be worth the loss of authenticity.
Visiting LACMA for many years, I never noticed that ancient art has been disbanded, I was surprised!
The Greek and Roman sculptures now stand in the galleries of European art. The ancient statues and
vases are now part of the post antique paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts of the European Art.
From my skepticism, however, I have completely converted to the curators way of thinking: the
pairing of old and new art, really works! It brings out content, form, and even artistic style that would
otherwise be lost. In the other hand, the sheer visual variety of white statues with more colorful
objects is beautiful and passionate; much more than

Analysis Of Boeing And Lockheed Martin
There are a multitude of aerospace manufactures in the business of building airplanes worldwide such
as Boeing and Lockheed Martin. In order to become a global leader in an ultra competitive market,
such as the aerospace industry, Boeing implements cost reducing initiatives such as lean
manufacturing practices. In order to build a complex item such as an airplane on time and on budget, a
manufacture will require a competent supply chain management system to ensure all the needed parts
are available to the builders. Implementing technology such as automated equipment to assist in the
reduction of human errors and fatigue will reduces costs associated with rework caused by human
error mistakes.
History and background of the organization, also including the types of goods sold and industry in
which the organization operates. The remarkable Boeing Company was founded in the summer of
1916 by the illustrious William E. Boeing. William Boeing built the foundation of the company on
acts and truths rather than assumptions and guesses (Boeing, 2016b). Utilizing facts such as measuring
process times to complete a manufacturing process enables a business to benchmark its production
efficiency. Utilizing a single factor productivity formula is a simple and effective tool which measures
productivity by dividing the number of units produced by the number of labor hours used to complete
the task (Heizer Render, 2014).

In 2016, a grocery store customer in New Hampshire looked into a bag of grapes and saw a black

the name in order to create a sense of fear for the spider. The 8 legged spider with a shiny backside
and red hourglass shape on its belly is one of the most venomous spiders in the United States. In a

Emily Dickinson s There s a Certain Slant of Light Essay
In Emily Dickinson s lyrical poem There s a certain slant of light she describes a revelation that is
experienced on cold winter afternoons. Further she goes to say that this revelation of self oppresses,
like the Heft of Cathedral Tunes and causes Heavenly Hurt , yet does not scare for it is neither exterior
nor permanent. This only leaves it to be an internal feeling, and according to Dickinson that is where
all the Meanings lie. There s no way for this feeling to be explained, all that is known is that it is the

That oppresses, like the Heft of Cathedral Tunes . It has a very heavy feeling derived from the word
Heft as well as Cathedral Tunes. The Cathedral is considered sacred yet it is such as somber sound that
it could easily affect a person s mood. The use of paradoxes in the poem creates a sense of confusion
about the true feelings about the revelation. Heavenly Hurt is both wonderful and horrible and
suggests that the pain comes from the heavens. This suggestion is support in various situations
throughout the poem. Cathedral Tunes and Sent us of the Air are the prime examples. It shows that
this new realization may have been from a divine being therefore the reader is confused on it s
significance because it perhaps a type of gift. Landscapes Listen Shadows hold their breathe is the
personification used in the poem. This personification in the work shows that a divine being has
arranged for this revelation to occur therefore, all of nature will halt to the being who has been
selected to find this new piece of themselves. She also uses a bit of irony as well as parallel structure
to set the scene in the poem. The revelation is brought out in the light of an wintery afternoon, this is
the parallel yet it oppressive and dark which is ironic because the light brought with it such darkness.

The Airport Security Of Aviation
Charlotte s International Airport is currently ranked as the fifth busiest airport in the USA
in terms of the takeoffs as well as landings. The airport improved in ranking by one spot in both
international and national rankings recording with an average of 544,944 takeoffs and landings in
2015. Charlotte airport witnessed approximately 44.9 million travellers in the year 2015, a record
of an increase by 1 percent. Most passengers using airplane tend to use the airport to switch from
one plane to another with approximately around 80 percent of the airport s passengers
connecting and reconnecting with friends and families.
The current rise in the market demand for aviation services around the world demands
analysis of airport demand among passengers regarding the current capacity of the airports.
Therefore, it is through proper planning of future and current airport amenities that the airports

Margarine is mostly made of water and fat. There are two different types of fat, saturated and

effect of decreasing the chance of heart disease. This experiment will indicate which type of margarine
is healthiest according to the amount of unsaturated fat and the amount of water in each brand, and

water and unsaturated fat in them. Which margarine will have the most unsaturated fat? Which one

Martin Luther Private Confession
The placement of corporate confession in the Sunday liturgical service would diminish the
significance of observance Private confession. This would cause an unending debate on practicing
private confession and whether private confession should also be considered a sacrament within the
Lutheran church. Private confession was a rite introduced by the Celtic missionaries and mandated by
the Council of Trent to be observed once a year especially before receiving communion. However, the
abuse of penance through the selling of indulgences caused Martin Luther to seek reform on the
corrupted practices of the papacy of the Catholic church, therefore leading many believers of the new
church skeptical of continuing the practice of private confession. However, Luther argued that
observance of private confession was an imperative of every Christian to taken part in, evidenced in

A Formal Analysis Of Death Mask Based On Gold Death Mask...
A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A, Shaft
Grave IV circa 1550 BC
The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an
unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the Mycenaean
King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original artefact dates to
1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were being worked due to
technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a marvel of craftsmanship as
much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the original was made from a single
sheet of almost pure gold.
Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an
archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong to the
grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity since the
grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have lived and ruled.
Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it reveals so much
about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like other ancients such as
the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead.

Food Insecurity In Food
Food Insecurity and its Correlation to Obesity in the United States
On a recent trip to the grocery store, the first thing that caught my eye was a big sale on potato chips
for ninety nine cents. What a great deal, everyone in my vicinity was picking up two or three bags to
take home. This might seem like a pretty ordinary event at most grocery stores, but it really
exemplifies a bigger problem in our society which often goes unnoticed, food insecurity and it s
correlation to obesity and other health problems. Hunger in our society is an enormous problem that
often goes unmentioned, but this problem is not going away on its own, and in fact is causing
significant issues in our society. The issue of hunger is not always about the quantity of food, but also
about the quality of the food supply, more often than not, the more accessible foods and cheaper foods
are those containing high levels of sugar and fat which are more affordable to the poor and working
poor in our communities. As Berg points out in this quote, people who are hungry generally choose
the cheaper option that will fill them up, When you re just trying to get your calorie intake, you re
going to get what fills your belly (Berg). If we as a community made an effort to demand foods with a
higher nutritional value, such as fruits and vegetables, have the same price as those high in sugar and

The Major Effects Of Concussions In The NFL

Concussions in the NFL
Has the NFL done enough to help prevent concussions? That is the question that many people are
asking, including people who are currently in the NFL. The NFL has been in a bit of controversy over
the past couple of years due to players and doctors coming forward and talking about concussions
caused by playing football which can lead to longer and more extreme damage to the brain. The NFL
has been in a well known lawsuit from former players. The players are suing because of receiving
concussions while playing football and not being given proper treatment. The NFL has had to make
new rules and introduce a stricter policy when dealing with concussions. Advances in technology have
made it possible for people to be able to research and understand what caused the concussion and how
to prevent it. The NFL is now trying to come up with new ways to prevent concussions from
happening. Concussions can be limited in the NFL.
One of the problems of the NFL not dealing as well with concussions is the fact that not many people
used to know of the major effects that a concussion can have on the human brain. A concussion is a
type of traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head (NFL Concussions). Common symptoms
of concussions are: imbalance, headache, confusion, memory loss, loss of consciousness, vision

an adventure and sneak her phone out. Clarissa wanted Ann to join in on what seemed a simple task
with a grand reward. So, Clarissa whispered, Ann lets go and get our phones it will be quick plus I can
show you a picture of my pet iguana. While Ann was worried that both of them would get caught and
receive zeros on the benchmark although she decided it was better to go with Clarissa then stay alone

their phones there was an ominous sound and the door abruptly opened. Both girls became wide eyed

A Market Analysis Will Be On Nike, Inc.
This market analysis will be on Nike, Inc. using the Porter s Five Forces designed by Porter, (2008):
1) Competitive Rivalry within the Industry, 2) Bargaining Power of Suppliers, 3) Bargaining Power of
Customers, 4) Threat of New Entrants, and 5) Threat of Substitute Products. Nike was founded in
1964 by Bill Bowerman a track coach at the University of Oregon who developed lightweight, durable
running shoes along with Phil Knight one of his runners and a student of business at the University.
Almost from the onset of this company factories overseas were utilized to produce the products
starting in Japan and later spreading to many other countries with inexpensive labor forces. Nike after
years of growth went from a $1 million in sales ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1) Competitive Rivalry within the Industry Extremely High
The level of competition in the sector of athletic shoes, apparel and equipment is extremely high
between two primary businesses in this category and that is Adidas and Nike. Other shoe businesses
also are fighting to take a pieces of the market with new products and promotions these companies
include for athletic shoes brands such as Reebok, Puma, Under Armour, Converse, Vans, New
Balance, Fila, Asics, Keds, Geox, Rockport, Ecko and for clothing brands new competitors such as
Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Nautica and the Gap. All of these emerging brands with some of them
having their own customer bases or brand loyalty do threaten Nike s control of the largest segment of
the market. It is not so much the price of the shoes but the branding that drives the market. So if the
brand is popular than that is what the customer is looking for more than price. Much of this threat to
Nikes branding is from changing customer preferences for what brand of sports shoes that they want.
To compete within this market a constant string of creative new invention using newer technology to
appeal to the consumer has to take place. Nike fortunately has such brand recognition and customer
loyalty along with numerous patents on materials and designs that they can continue to hold onto the
lead and seem to continue to grow into other market segments using brand line extensions as well.

Selecting A Health Care Provider Summary
Chapter One
Selecting a Health Care Provider
At no time should a patient feel uneasy with the treatment they receive, or the overall environment of
the facility they are visiting. All staff should address concerns with a professional approach.
According to Issidoros Sarinopoulos, Ph.D., a professor of radiology at Michigan State University,
Patients should pay attention to how their doctor makes them feel and recognize empathy as a
desirable characteristic in a physician.
A Good Healthcare Provider Does the Following:
Treats all questions and concerns with respect
Responds in a timely manner
Reserves judgement
Asks permission before any testing is performed
Approaches office visits with an unrushed setting
Provides current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At no time should you feel unable to maintain your own well being due to judgement from medical
providers. Today s medical school graduates have had more training on sexual health than their more
established counterparts, but it is still possible to encounter a doctor who lacks a thorough approach to
patient sexual health.
Chapter 2
Preventative Sexual Health Services
Preventative services include vaccines, screenings for transmitted diseases and infections and
counseling to assist in making health minded decisions. Regardless of one s ability to pay for
preventative services, they have a right to these services through community organizations. However,
not all communities offer comprehensive preventative sexual health services at no cost or low cost.
Research what is available in your area, starting with your local Planned Parenthood office.
Males should be aware that Planned Parenthood offers reproductive services, general health care,
sexual health services and cancer screenings for men. The company is widely known for their female
sexual health services, but Planned Parenthood also assists males in the following gender specific
areas:
Erectile dysfunction exam, education, treatment and referrals
Male sterilization (vasectomy)
Jock itch exam and treatment
Male infertility

Common Misconceptions on the Word Anime
It has always baffled me when I tell someone I love anime and they say they do not like it. They
sometimes say I hate all anime saying that they never could get into that genre. This is a statement that
gets my geek fathers rattled because anime is not a genre; it is an entire medium and whole form of
entertainment. It is a confusing statement to say because to me that is like saying you hate all movies
or TV shows. To traditional Americans who do not know a lot about anime, it tends to have a stigma
attached to it. Hence is why I decided to write about it as a social deviance. When you talk to someone
who has never experienced anime before, you tend to get some weird looks. A common misconception
is that all anime is pornography; they think all anime has tentacle monsters waiting for that busty girl
to pick up and rape. This misconception very much alienates people away from anime. It is true there
is a genre that is pornographic called hentai and is specifically targeted at adults. Hentai is its own
genre and most anime shows do not come close to that line. Most people confuse hentai with shows
that proved what is called fan service. Fan service is a term coined from anime and manga fandom for
material in a series, which is deliberately added to please the audience. Fan service can be in both
manga and anime and can include racy, erotic, or sexual content such as nudity, up skirt glimpse of a

The Worldview of a Man Essay
It is crucial to have a complete understanding of how one is to view and respond to the problems of
the world in light of the different schools of thought. This is best done with a worldview. A worldview
is a comprehensive collection of one s beliefs in every area of rational thought. It dictates a person s
actions and responses to the world in which they live.
In addition to providing the details of one s beliefs, a worldview has the added benefit of showing how
different schools of thought interact and influence one another (Tackett, 2006). Having a well
constructed worldview would, for example, bring to light inconsistencies with philosophy and ethics
that one might maintain and allow one to resolve them.
The primary elements of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a shame, since all that really matters is the practical.
After encountering many philosophical systems, I have found all the commonly discussed ones sorely
lacking. They either completely neglect some key areas of functional relationships between man and
nature, or are wholly offensive to any idea of good living. A prime example would be postmodernism.
That philosophical system states that all truth is relative and that there is no real objectivity to be had
(Englebretsen, 1995). Without the allowance for objectivity, there can be no good or evil, nor anything
outside our own imagination. You may not exist and I might not either. If not for the existence of
reality beyond our own perceptions, there would be no point whatsoever to science or philosophy or
any other field of study. All that would matter is enjoyable experiences, where knowledge and
interaction with what appears to be the world are only tools with which we use to gain the next
pleasure. If everyone who claimed that ideology were to act upon it, society would be thrown into
sociopathic, hedonistic chaos.
Seeing that the majority of philosophical systems that attempt to address the primary aspects of reality
are lacking, I sought to find a more spartan system that only held a few key points, and then goes on to
provide a sensible framework that can be built upon constructively. This led me to examine critical
realism.
Critical realism is a philosophical framework that

Radio Waves Significantly Impact Our Lives as Forms of...
Radio waves, a form of electromagnetic radiation, have had a significant impact on our daily life
because of their use as a form of communication. Radio waves have long wavelengths and have low
energy photon particles. Because they have low energy photons, they have lower frequencies when
compared to other forms of electromagnetic radiation, such as x rays that have a higher frequency
despite having short wavelengths. Today, radio waves are used as a method to transmit and receive
information. Technology that makes use of radio waves includes telephones, television and more
popularly known the radio, which picks up signals from a radio antenna that is equipped with a
resonator that filters the signals received and as its name implies it resonates only with radio waves of
a certain frequency; this allows people to listen to different sounds at different frequencies. Radio
waves can be emitted by objects in space, such as planets, while radio waves that occur on Earth can
come from lightning.
Because radio waves are an essential aspect of our lives astronomers have been studying radio waves
in space for a long time. While astronomers have been able to detect radio waves from within the solar
system and from within the Milky Way galaxy, they have not been able to detect radio waves
originating from distant galaxies until recently. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) has detected radio bursts that come from outside of our galaxy. This discovery proved

The purpose of this assessment is to investigate concepts relating to a system that is used within a
digital device. For my assessment, I chose the A5158 model MP3 player that belongs to my dad.
The features of this device include:
High Contrast LCD Display, Resolution 96 x 32
Integrated Flash Memory
Plays MP3 and WMA Digital Music Files FM Radio
4GB Stores up to 1000 songs
USB 2.0 Hi Speed for fast file transfers

Data Representation
In computer terms, a bit is a numeric value either a zero or a one that holds a single unit of digital
information. Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits
are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as
patterns of ones and zeroes.
ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a computer code that was developed
to allow computers to convert human text into bits that computers could understand. In ASCII code,
for example, the letter A is 65 a number that can then be converted into the binary value 1000001.
In the 1960 s, the 7 bit ASCII table was first adopted. Within a 7 bit number, 128 different characters
can be stored English letters from A Z (upper and lower case), numeric digits from 0 9 and special
characters such as !/*+. The eighth bit was used to detect transmission errors.

2.1 Market Needs
In order to appeal to the customers it is important to understand what they value as a necessity.
Essential Barbershop intends on addressing those necessities so that our customer s needs are met.
 Economical Prices We offer the cheapest haircuts within our 5 mile radius because customers are
always looking for ways to save money on items. An average haircut in America is somewhat pricy at
$28. Our prices are almost half of the national average and will be appealing to the surrounding
customers. The estimated annual household income for the area around the barbershop is $52K with
half of that population being married couples with dual income. Our prices help them save money
while catering to the need of haircuts. The lower prices also help establish a customer base and as a
start up business it helps build customer capital.
 Professional Services Our barbers are trained, certified professionals and understand that their
appearance, attitude, and work should be nothing less than professional at all times. A common
assumption of lower priced items is a loss of quality and we aim to prove that opinion doesn t apply at
our barbershop because you receive the high quality at a low price.
 Customer Service Comfort Customer Service is listed as the last bullet but Is most important need
to be addressed. It makes the difference in whether the customer returns to patronize, or spreads
positive or negative feedback to potential customers.

  • 2. Biology Enzyme Experiement An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy required to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting factors are introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and temperature. When an enzyme is at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate binds and the reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique shape into which only a substrate of the exact same unique shape can fit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when renin is added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in which enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases. Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the temperature of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH level. In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for the milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained thus impacted on our results. Sin embargo, los datos tan variados sobre todo en los estratos más bajos también permiten develar un fallo en el sistema de estratificación social, el cual evidentemente no refleja de manera óptima y certera las diferencias social y económica de la población. Abstract and Methodology: The present study seeks to determine the relationship between the socio economic position of families and the consumption of electrical energy generated by them. In this study, the most common indicator (although it is not the most appropriate) regarding the subject, will be taken as a reference of socioeconomic position; the social stratum. Regarding to the consumption, a data collection will be made of two sample populations, A and B. Population A corresponds to 50 families associated with a public institution, while B corresponds to the same number of families, but associated with a private one. The collection consists of the monthly average of electricity consumption in KWh and the stratum assigned to the dwelling, both stipulated in the invoice of the company providing the service. • 4. Is Equality Making Us Sick If I were to tell you that based on your economic standpoint in life that in its self could help determine the future of your health, would you believe me or call me absurd? A recent documentary called Is Equality Making Us Sick takes a strong argument to show that the life you grow up in or even build for yourself can determine such a factor that seems only fitting for God to decide. This factor is called social determinants of health, meaning that based on your access to income and education this will help determine your life span (Unnatural causes). Social, as well as income inequality will be what puts you on your death bed faster or slower and is a matter that shall not be taken lightly. So, how is it in a country as flourished as The United States can we face such an issue? A country where we have the highest growth domestic product (Washington Post, year), a country where our athletes prove us again and again that we are on top of the world, beating record after record. After all this, how can we still be so inclined that our health is not at its prime game, as it should be? Has our competition with the rest of the world belittle us and blinded us with our own corners of the world. The harsh reality is that the United States lead 30th in life expectancy and our overall life expectancy is just shy of 78 years (Unnatural Causes/put publication and year for documentary citation). This has to do with the opportunities we give our citizens and their limits; limits such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Hamlet, Prince Of Denmark, By William Shakespeare The famous tragedy entitled Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, often abbreviated to Hamlet and written at the turn of the seventeenth century, was the playwright William Shakespeare s longest play and among the most influential works to exist in English literature. The play dramatizes the poisonous intents of the demonically brilliant king of Denmark, Claudius, a man so driven by greed and lust for his brother s, King Hamlet s, throne, wife and supremacy that he commits the ultimate act of fratricide, consequently inheriting the primal eldest curse of Cain and Abel. His toxic act affected his relationships with numerous other characters, and eventually led to several of their demises. Prince Hamlet, son of the late King Hamlet and Claudius nephew and step son, was one such example of a character directly affected by Claudius venomous ways; he became suicidal after his father s unnatural death. This essay will examine the poisonous nature of King Claudius, the inadvertent penalties of his deeds and Hamlet s extensive use of the trope of poison. In the complex web of human destinies, where so many lives are meshed intricately together, the freely chosen actions of one individual may breed damaging, entirely unforeseeable effects in the lives of countless anonymous others. • 7. 8th Grade Singing Hello, There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both choirs. Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. Combining both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone production, and create a full choir sound. This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ... The 8th graders have taken on the bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a group of boys with ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. • 8. Theme Of Barbie Doll And The Death Of Marilyn Monroie Poetry has a way of expressing its rage, grief, and irony at society and its social pressures. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and The Death of Marilyn Monroe by Sharon Olds express how beauty weighs women s lives and cause a tragic end from being the perfect specimen. Both discuss a similar theme but carry the message out a difference way. In order to understand its similarities and differences it is necessary to analyze the text to find its denotation and connotation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both poems use names from iconic beauty icons. Barbies are seen by little girls and are the first things to influence how they should define beauty. Normally the dolls have skinny bodies and small noses and are able to have multiple careers and are admired by men. Thus, little girls grow up wanting to be like Barbie. Marilyn Monroe is a sex icon who looks other women began to copy. Unlike Barbie she was curvy and had an acting career, but she was also adored by men. Both icons influenced women on how to look and impress men, but the influence becomes problematic and difficult to maintain because only dolls and superstars to can survive that life. Even idols cannot survive that life, as proven by Monroe. Only Barbie, an object can be seen as the perfect woman. Both poems use these names to highlight how impossible it is for women to seen as normal or to be accepted as they are. Thus, an early death can happen when the pressure is too much to handle and each poem has a tone of sadness at both women s death. • 9. The Model Of Emergent Leadership Tuvia Bielski: The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ? Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born with the necessary qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this. Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in. Defining Leadership Leadership means the period during which a person occupies the position of leader. A leader is someone who brings a group of people together, and directs them toward a common goal. Someone can easily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The s Impact On Canadian Constructions Of Heritage And Islam Spectacle and the Universal: ISIL s Impact on Canadian Constructions of Heritage and Islam Context and Research Question: In August 2015, after capturing the ancient Roman site of Palmyra, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) spectacularly exploded the remains of the Temple of Bel and the Temple of Baalshamin. They immediately spread the images of their destruction online by creating videos and news reports. ISIL s acts of destruction mark the largest scale mass destruction of antiquities by one group since the Second World War (Kulish and Myers 2016), and their videos are extremely effective in disseminating their spectacles outside of the Middle East. Scholars in art history, archaeology, and law consider these acts the destruction of cultural heritage (Harmanşah 2015; Bauer 2015; Brodie 2015; Drasewska 2015; He 2015; Kila 2015). In particular, ISIL s videos seek to defy Western European ideas about cultural heritage which are often cast as universal (Meskell 2002, 568) and engage a worldwide audience through carefully articulated performances. However, the many Canadian journalists using digital media to protest the destruction and reassert their own humanitarian, cosmopolitan, and civilized heritage values clearly mark the success of this strategy (Manley 2016). In fact, a trend emerged where popular news stories claim that ISIL is destroying the heritage that belongs to all of humanity (Harmanşah 2015, 173). Some scholars dispute the validity of this ... I am comparing The Joys and Sorrows of Mary and the Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus Organization: In The Joys and Sorrows of Mary diptych, the author utilizes gothic style, with lancet windows, pointed arches, and also seemed to be going for corinthian type columns. The author organized the art piece in a realistic, natural way, paying close attention to detail, and carving the art in high relief, allowing people to see the art scenes from a distance. The facial expressions are simple, kind, and the body language is subtle. The Virgin Mary also stands in Gothic S curve stance in the Annunciation, where her movement is smooth and continuous, and her weight is shifted toward her right side (Anonymous). The lower four scenes represent the Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, and Adoration of the Magi. The upper scenes represent Noli me tangere ( touch me not ), the Crucifixion, Presentation in the Temple, and the Coronation of the Virgin (Anonymous). • 16. The Potentinal for Ozone in BTEX-Contaminated Sites Ozone is a highly oxidative chemical known to be capable of degrading many types of organic contaminants, including both chemicals and organisms. It is known in the grain industry to be useful for disinfecting cereals without affecting quality of the cereal. This includes microbial inactivation, killing pests, degrading certain pesticides and fungicides, and mycotoxins (Tiwari et al. 2010). Ozone also has an important role in the treatment of wastewater for similar reasons. It is used in the treatment train at both the Alfred Merritt Smith and River Mountains treatment plants in Las Vegas (SNWA 2014). The ozonation processes in these plants kill off bacteria and microorganisms by bubbling ozone into the wastewater. As ozone dissipates within several minutes, no residue is left after treatment, though certain disinfection byproducts can potentially be formed depending on the constituents in the wastewater, and the placement of ozonation in the treatment train (Gerrity et al. 2010). Certain organic contaminants of interest, including ___, tend to have long half lives and low water solubility, which can make traditional and natural forms of remediation ineffective. The past decade has shown that ozone can be used in the remediation of contaminated soils, primarily by in situ ozonation systems. As mentioned previously, ozone is an unstable chemical that has a half life of around two minutes (Dey, Rosenwinkel, Wheeler 2002). In the process of oxidation, ozone reacts with ... Immigration in Australia A Baptist policy on immigration and asylum seekers The world currently faces a global refugee crisis with up to 40 million displaced people (the majority of whom are women and children). Australia currently accepts around 13,750 refugees each year as part of total planned annual immigration of around 182,000 people. This paper identifies social and political problems relating to asylum seekers and refugees. It examines the biblical teaching on a responsible Christian approach to asylum seekers and refugees, and discusses some of the ways in which Australian Baptists have responded to the challenges of immigration and asylum seekers. After the division of the kingdom, many Israelites experienced displacement, loss and trauma when they were exiled to Assyria and Babylon, and even when some of them returned to the land, life was never the same (e.g. 2 Kings 24:14 16; but see also Jeremiah 29:4 7). Ancient Israel possessed laws designed to ensure the just treatment of strangers and aliens, persons who were not ethnic members of the nation but who were protected by law (e.g. Deuteronomy 24:17 18). The law also recognised the non assimilating stranger (Leviticus 19:33 34a), whose different customs were respected and protected. And, despite Israel s commitment to racial and religious purity, these foreigners were able to share in Israel s cultural and religious life. The story of Rahab (Joshua 6:24f) and Ruth (Ruth 1:1 22; 4:13 17) demonstrate the radical nature of Israel s commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable and the outsider. The reason often given for these gracious principles was the memory of the harsh experience of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt (e.g. Exodus 23:9; Deuteronomy 10:17 19). Further, the welcome and care of foreigners was structured into Israel s gleaning and tithing laws (Leviticus 19:9 10; Deuteronomy 14:28 29). Finally, there were designated places of sanctuary (not detention) in ancient Israel, where refugees could live in peace and safety while their claims were being processed (Numbers 35:6 15). The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the bones of the pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest. It is the second most common type of cancer found in children. Ewing s sarcoma typically occurs in people between 10 and 20 years old. However, it can occur at any age. CAUSES No one knows exactly what causes Ewing s sarcoma. Certain changes in genes seem to cause this cancer; but what causes those changes is not known. The cancer occurs in white males more than any other group of people. • 26. Who Is The Clone Of Never Let Me Go Kazuo Ishiguro s novel Never Let Me Go is both a piece of science fiction and political commentary. The narrative exists in a liminal space in which scientific and technological advances intermingle with highly polarized ethical debates, allowing it to question the consequences of living in an ever advancing society with underdeveloped morals. However, the novel s narrator, a clone named Kathy H., remains distant within her society s blend of politics and scientific processes, despite being directly affected by both, and the language that she uses to discuss her life as a clone highlights that distance. There is no hard science in Never Let Me Go. However, the popularization of making science widely available and easily understandable to the general public allows Never Let Me Go, a novel that rarely involves science despite requiring it in order to exist, to fill a relatively new niche in the broad genre of science fiction. As Griffin states, the story is concerned with the effect of science rather than its practice (Griffin 648); however, considering that Kathy H. and the book s audience live among the effects of science instead of within its practice, Ishiguro s distant and rather undefined scientific landscape is rather appropriate. No one really understands what is going on around them. Kathy, a clone, seems to know about as much about the process of cloning as the people reading her testimonies, and that lack of understanding is the foundation of her confusion when Miss Emily confronts her with the reality of the ethical dilemmas of clones rights and quality of life towards the end of the story. Analysis Of The Lansdowne Athlete By Lysippos Ancient sculptures bring on endless philosophical arguments regarding what is an appropriate form of perfection, defined as a fit body guided by a keen mind. This paper will approach a visual essence of the sculpture of The Lansdowne Athlete, by Lysippos, Rome 340 330 B.C. marble after a bronze original, that I viewed at the LACMA. This sculpture is located in the left wing of Greek exhibition Building, 3rd floor. I selected this sculpture as an example of an idealized body. Therefore, I will be explaining the historical background of the sculpture and address why I think it would make a good addition to our text. I will provide an analogy with other sculpture of idealized body from our textbook chapter 12 on Mind and Body mainly. I will impart more information about the essence of idealized human form as well as cultural ideals during this time period in Greece. The Lansdowne Athlete at the LACMA is an example of a well developed ideal body and carefully controlled proportions to all body parts. This sculpture is a Roman copy of an original by Lysippos made in the 1st century. It is a marble statue of 75 inches in height. The figure is in the contrapposto stance common of the style at the time and is taking a step forward. The figure still has integrity even though it has a few missing parts. Its face, which is important, is more or less intact and the standing upright with its impression of movement still visible. The missing arms, if they were restored would not add much to the sculpture and the addition of these parts will not be worth the loss of authenticity. Visiting LACMA for many years, I never noticed that ancient art has been disbanded, I was surprised! The Greek and Roman sculptures now stand in the galleries of European art. The ancient statues and vases are now part of the post antique paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts of the European Art. From my skepticism, however, I have completely converted to the curators way of thinking: the pairing of old and new art, really works! It brings out content, form, and even artistic style that would otherwise be lost. This would cause an unending debate on practicing private confession and whether private confession should also be considered a sacrament within the Lutheran church. Private confession was a rite introduced by the Celtic missionaries and mandated by the Council of Trent to be observed once a year especially before receiving communion. However, the abuse of penance through the selling of indulgences caused Martin Luther to seek reform on the corrupted practices of the papacy of the Catholic church, therefore leading many believers of the new church skeptical of continuing the practice of private confession. • 37. A Formal Analysis Of Death Mask Based On Gold Death Mask... A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A, Shaft Grave IV circa 1550 BC The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the Mycenaean King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original artefact dates to 1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were being worked due to technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a marvel of craftsmanship as much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the original was made from a single sheet of almost pure gold. Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong to the grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity since the grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have lived and ruled. Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it reveals so much about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like other ancients such as the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead. The original of this mask, made as it is with such finely sculpted and etched detail out of a thin sheet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Food Insecurity In Food Food Insecurity and its Correlation to Obesity in the United States On a recent trip to the grocery store, the first thing that caught my eye was a big sale on potato chips for ninety nine cents. What a great deal, everyone in my vicinity was picking up two or three bags to take home. This might seem like a pretty ordinary event at most grocery stores, but it really exemplifies a bigger problem in our society which often goes unnoticed, food insecurity and it s correlation to obesity and other health problems. Hunger in our society is an enormous problem that often goes unmentioned, but this problem is not going away on its own, and in fact is causing significant issues in our society. The issue of hunger is not always about the quantity of food, but also about the quality of the food supply, more often than not, the more accessible foods and cheaper foods are those containing high levels of sugar and fat which are more affordable to the poor and working poor in our communities. As Berg points out in this quote, people who are hungry generally choose the cheaper option that will fill them up, When you re just trying to get your calorie intake, you re going to get what fills your belly (Berg). If we as a community made an effort to demand foods with a higher nutritional value, such as fruits and vegetables, have the same price as those high in sugar and fats, people would more often select the healthy and nutritious options as a recent survey at the Des Moines Area ... That is the question that many people are asking, including people who are currently in the NFL. The NFL has been in a bit of controversy over the past couple of years due to players and doctors coming forward and talking about concussions caused by playing football which can lead to longer and more extreme damage to the brain. The NFL has been in a well known lawsuit from former players. The players are suing because of receiving concussions while playing football and not being given proper treatment. The NFL has had to make new rules and introduce a stricter policy when dealing with concussions. Advances in technology have made it possible for people to be able to research and understand what caused the concussion and how to prevent it. The NFL is now trying to come up with new ways to prevent concussions from happening. Concussions can be limited in the NFL. One of the problems of the NFL not dealing as well with concussions is the fact that not many people used to know of the major effects that a concussion can have on the human brain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1) Competitive Rivalry within the Industry Extremely High The level of competition in the sector of athletic shoes, apparel and equipment is extremely high between two primary businesses in this category and that is Adidas and Nike. Other shoe businesses also are fighting to take a pieces of the market with new products and promotions these companies include for athletic shoes brands such as Reebok, Puma, Under Armour, Converse, Vans, New Balance, Fila, Asics, Keds, Geox, Rockport, Ecko and for clothing brands new competitors such as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Nautica and the Gap. All of these emerging brands with some of them having their own customer bases or brand loyalty do threaten Nike s control of the largest segment of the market. It is not so much the price of the shoes but the branding that drives the market. So if the brand is popular than that is what the customer is looking for more than price. Much of this threat to Nikes branding is from changing customer preferences for what brand of sports shoes that they want. To compete within this market a constant string of creative new invention using newer technology to appeal to the consumer has to take place. Nike fortunately has such brand recognition and customer loyalty along with numerous patents on materials and designs that they can continue to hold onto the lead and seem to continue to grow into other market segments using brand line extensions as well. • 46. Common Misconceptions on the Word Anime It has always baffled me when I tell someone I love anime and they say they do not like it. They sometimes say I hate all anime saying that they never could get into that genre. This is a statement that gets my geek fathers rattled because anime is not a genre; it is an entire medium and whole form of entertainment. It is a confusing statement to say because to me that is like saying you hate all movies or TV shows. To traditional Americans who do not know a lot about anime, it tends to have a stigma attached to it. Hence is why I decided to write about it as a social deviance. When you talk to someone who has never experienced anime before, you tend to get some weird looks. A common misconception is that all anime is pornography; they think all anime has tentacle monsters waiting for that busty girl to pick up and rape. This misconception very much alienates people away from anime. It is true there is a genre that is pornographic called hentai and is specifically targeted at adults. Hentai is its own genre and most anime shows do not come close to that line. Most people confuse hentai with shows that proved what is called fan service. Fan service is a term coined from anime and manga fandom for material in a series, which is deliberately added to please the audience. Fan service can be in both manga and anime and can include racy, erotic, or sexual content such as nudity, up skirt glimpse of a characters underwear, shower scenes, characters wearing bathing suits, or ... • 47. The Worldview of a Man Essay It is crucial to have a complete understanding of how one is to view and respond to the problems of the world in light of the different schools of thought. This is best done with a worldview. A worldview is a comprehensive collection of one s beliefs in every area of rational thought. It dictates a person s actions and responses to the world in which they live. In addition to providing the details of one s beliefs, a worldview has the added benefit of showing how different schools of thought interact and influence one another (Tackett, 2006). Having a well constructed worldview would, for example, bring to light inconsistencies with philosophy and ethics that one might maintain and allow one to resolve them. The primary elements of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a shame, since all that really matters is the practical. After encountering many philosophical systems, I have found all the commonly discussed ones sorely lacking. They either completely neglect some key areas of functional relationships between man and nature, or are wholly offensive to any idea of good living. A prime example would be postmodernism. That philosophical system states that all truth is relative and that there is no real objectivity to be had (Englebretsen, 1995). Without the allowance for objectivity, there can be no good or evil, nor anything outside our own imagination. You may not exist and I might not either. If not for the existence of reality beyond our own perceptions, there would be no point whatsoever to science or philosophy or any other field of study. All that would matter is enjoyable experiences, where knowledge and interaction with what appears to be the world are only tools with which we use to gain the next pleasure. If everyone who claimed that ideology were to act upon it, society would be thrown into sociopathic, hedonistic chaos. Seeing that the majority of philosophical systems that attempt to address the primary aspects of reality are lacking, I sought to find a more spartan system that only held a few key points, and then goes on to provide a sensible framework that can be built upon constructively. This led me to examine critical realism. Critical realism is a philosophical framework that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Radio Waves Significantly Impact Our Lives as Forms of... Radio waves, a form of electromagnetic radiation, have had a significant impact on our daily life because of their use as a form of communication. Radio waves have long wavelengths and have low energy photon particles. Because they have low energy photons, they have lower frequencies when compared to other forms of electromagnetic radiation, such as x rays that have a higher frequency despite having short wavelengths. Today, radio waves are used as a method to transmit and receive information. Technology that makes use of radio waves includes telephones, television and more popularly known the radio, which picks up signals from a radio antenna that is equipped with a resonator that filters the signals received and as its name implies it resonates only with radio waves of a certain frequency; this allows people to listen to different sounds at different frequencies. Radio waves can be emitted by objects in space, such as planets, while radio waves that occur on Earth can come from lightning. Because radio waves are an essential aspect of our lives astronomers have been studying radio waves in space for a long time. While astronomers have been able to detect radio waves from within the solar system and from within the Milky Way galaxy, they have not been able to detect radio waves originating from distant galaxies until recently. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has detected radio bursts that come from outside of our galaxy. This discovery proved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as patterns of ones and zeroes. ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a computer code that was developed to allow computers to convert human text into bits that computers could understand. In ASCII code, for example, the letter A is 65 a number that can then be converted into the binary value 1000001. In the 1960 s, the 7 bit ASCII table was first adopted.
