Richard Wilbur s Boy At The Window
War has changed many people s lives, including Richard Wilbur. Richard is a poet who was in
the U.S. army in World War II. According to the Poetry Foundation, the war influenced his
poetry. He was born in 1912 in New York City and won the Pulitzer Prize two times and won
many other awards, such as the Wallace Stevens award. One poem Richard Wilbur wrote was
Boy at the Window . This poem is about a boy looking out a window at a snowman, but the
young boy does not quite understand why the snowman has to suffer out in the cold. The theme
of the poem is as one grows older they will start to understand the world more. This relates to
Richard s experience in the war. Richard was young when he went into the war and he had many
fears that he could not understand before going into the war. In the poem, Boy at the Window , by
Richard Wilbur, he shows a central idea of misunderstanding which shows the theme of as one
grows older they will start to understand the world more by the context, literary devices, and mood
in the poem.
In the poem, Boy at the Window , the first way that the theme of as one grows older they will start
to understand the world more is shown in the context of the poem. An example of how the context
of the poem helped to show is by the quote in line 1, Seeing the snowman standing all alone
(Wilbur). This quote is talking about a little boy looking out the window at the snowman. It helps to
explain the theme because he is young and does not understand

Are The Similarities Between Myrtle Wilson And Daisy Buchanan
Comparing and contrasting of Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle
Wilson both have similar positions and have both had impacts on the entirety of The Great
Gatsby. Many would say that both are basically one and the same, and that one just goes about
their situations differently than the other. Both have unchanging themes of wealth; However,
that can also be said about most characters in the book. Daisy and Myrtle could actually not be
more different from one another. This includes their personality and values in life. Daisy s
behavior and actions are vastly different from Myrtle s. Her personality is shown to be charming,
and careless. She is described to have a voice that Gatsby describes to be, full of money (120). This
is likely what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Myrtle values the wealthy lifestyle greatly. She would even go so far as to create a facade of
what she believes those of high societal class would act like in order to achieve that, and
ironically, mocks the poor in the process. In Chapter 2 she exclaims toward Nick, I told that boy
about the ice...you have to keep after them all the time (32). here it is proven that Myrtle
believes in order to give everyone the impression that she is high class, she must act in a
snobbish manner. Whereas Daisy who was born into wealth, values convenience majorly over
the latter. Some may disagree and say that she values love, and it is true that she does search for
love; However, this is contradicted when at the end of the day she stays with Tom Buchanan
rather than Gatsby, as is shown in the last scene with them together, Daisy and Tom were sitting
opposite of each other at the kitchen table with a plate of cold fried chicken between them, and
two bottles of ale (145). She stays with Tom only for her own societal convenience, and she is
willing to follow through with it even though he is a generally abusive

Psychology, Theology, And Spirituality
Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Counseling by Mark R. McMinn is a book that
discusses two different characteristics of the Christian Counseling field: in counseling sessions and
life beyond the counseling sessions for example, the counselor s job and the counselor s life. Dr.
McMinn starts his book with a brief section written with James Wilhoit that discusses religionin the
counseling office.
This first section talks about the importance of making good use of the Christian faith in counseling
and not focusing on the relationship between psychology and theology (McMinn, 1996, p. 25). It
also states the challenges that religion brings in counseling sessions and how to handle those. In the
chapters that follow, McMinn talks about six Christian concepts in counseling.
McMinn talks about a few challenges when a counselor attempts to integrate psychology and
theology. Some of these are complications of spiritual formation, blurred professional and personal
life, training problems, worldview differences, no scientific support, and unique ethical elements in
religious counseling (McMinn, 1996, p. 46). McMinn talks about three areas that Christian
counseling makes stronger: sense of self, an awareness of human need and limitations that everyone
has, and talking about personal relationships we have with God and others.
In the third chapter, McMinn talks about prayer in counseling. Prayer is a part of life for many
people. Prayer is more than a form of counseling; it

Questions On The Wise Choice Process
1. Write the six questions of the Wise Choice Process and answer each one as it relates to your
situation
The Wise Choice Process
1.What s my present situation? (Describe the problem objectively and completely.)
My present situation is being married, full time worker, full time student. right now I feel as
though I don t have a complete grasp on what to do to better my life. College is my main priority,
because I know I need a good education in order to accomplish the future career I want, but It is
somewhat hard to focus on classes because of how stressed I get over having a job and having a
husband. There are so many things I need to pay for and so much I need to help my husband out
with. Dropping out of college is out of the question. I am going to stay in college no matter what. I
just need to find a way to balance school, work and marriage, as well as maintain my stress.
2. How would I like my situation to be? (What is your ideal future outcome?)
My ideal future outcome is to get my Associate of Science Nursing by 2019 or 2020 and dive
right into my career right after I graduate. In order to achieve this, I would like to keep my job
that works according to my schedule, and supports me throughout my college years so that I can
focus on school and not have to worry about my financial stability, be with my husband for the
rest of my life will be perfect. Ideally, I want to control all aspects of my life.
3. What are my possible choices?

Kyle Reevee Interview Paper
In the process of finding a software engineer interviewee, I had the chance to find Kyle Reeve,
Software Engineer at Symbotic in Boston Massachusetts, who is also a robotics aficionado just
like I am. Symbotic is a robotics company whose mission is to develop robots capable of
executing automatic tasks in warehouses with the hope that workers at warehouses would not
longer be at risk from physical injuries due to managing heavy equipment (S ymbotic ). In late
October I was able to schedule an interview with in order to get to know a bit about about his
position and experiences. At first we started to talk about his background. Kyle Reeve received a
Mechanical Engineer bachelor s degree from Northeastern University. I was very surprised to
know that he did not actually go to college for software engineering or... Show more content on

Functional here means fully tested, documented, and debugged (Kyle). In short, Kyle spends
about two weeks building a single feature. He only moves to another feature once the current
feature works, has tests written for it and has documentation. A feature that works and has the
requirements needed to be considered functional does not mean that it can be integrated to the
Symbiotic products. In fact, I learned that Kyle s company uses git to track all of their projects.
Once a feature is considered done, such feature must be reviewed by at least 3 other people and
get their consent to merge into the master branch of git. In other words, at least 3 people must
review the feature and agree that the feature is ready to be implemented in the final product. Kyle
s description of the the process a feature must go through in order to be incorporated into a final

take weeks as they must be proven to be elegant correct and capable of being implemented into the

Pilates Exercise Analysis
I am taking beginning Pilates at this fall 2016 quarter. At the beginning of this quarter, I usually
do exercises once a week at home. At the end of the fall quarter, I start to enjoy doing more
exercise. Before I go to sleep, I do exercise every day at home with soft music. It also helps me to
sleep better. Doing exercisemakes me feel good and have more confident.
My goals set for the quarter are to increase my fitness level, and learn to breath with the
movement. My goals were all met and I feel satisfied.
The two different Pilates exercises I will be demonstrated are Criss Cross and Double Leg
Stretch. The first Pilates exercise is Criss Cross. First, the start position is to lay flat on back with
hands placed palm over palm at the base of the neck. Then bring both knees into chest and curl the
head and shoulders off the mat. The movement is to extend your right leg to 45 degree angle.
Rotate to the right shoulder to the left knee. Then, switch to rotate in the opposite direction to bring
the left shoulder to the right knee. We can repeat these movement about 10 times. Next, the ... Show

daily can have a direct impact on our life because it tones and strength the muscles, and it will
reduce stresses in the body and tension. I always feel good after I practice Pilate and other
exercises. I used to read an article that being active and do exercise daily can help lower blood

Swedish Welfare System
Swedish Welfare System Sweden has created a social welfare state that has eliminated a great
deal of poverty by providing extensive government aid to all citizens. It is referred to as the
Swedish Model , and is based off of the belief that all citizens are entitled to help from the
government. Although taxrates may be high the benefits by far outweigh the downfalls. The
Swedish Model is more efficient and effective at equalizing citizen welfarethan the United States
system; in the United States the rich get richer, and those in poverty use welfare to barely scrape
by. In Sweden all citizens are taxed fairly and have use of social welfare programs that have a
much greater capacity to help citizens. These welfares are limited not only... Show more content on

this data the higher taxation and usage of extensive social welfare programs truly does increase
welfare among the population. Whether it be per capita GDP, poverty rates, healthcare, or
disability Sweden comes out ahead due to the structure of their government and their welfare
system. They are able to more adequately provide for their population and make sure there is a

no way to know for sure how such a system would hold up to the scale of the United States. Based

How Did The Colonies Affect The Development Of The Middle...
Once New York was established as part of the British Empire, many sources choose to focus
solely on New York s history. However, many also focus on New York as part of a greater entity,
the Middle colonies, explaining how the development of the colonies as a whole affected New
York. Each colony was unique, and their lifestyle was tailored to fit their needs depending on their
environment. Tracing the development of slavery, Judaism, and Leisler s Rebellion can explain
why New York grew similarly to some colonies, while still maintaining its own unique qualities.
Slavery had a big impact on the development of the colonies in America, and each region used
slavery in different ways to benefit their economy. Each colony s geography and location impacted
the amount of slaves that they needed. The South had very good farmland, and therefore their
economy was centered around cash crops, which requires a lot of slaves. However, New England
did not have good farmland, and therefore only focused on sustenance farming, which does not
require slaves. In addition, the North did not support slaves because it went against their religious
values. The Middle colonies fall in between these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New York was at the forefront of Judaism in America, and they were the ones who really began
creating a large, stable community. Because New York was a very diverse society, it was easier
for the Jews to blend in and grow their own society. Originally when New York was owned by the
Dutch, the Jews were only accepted because they would be helpful economically, even though the
other citizens protested their arrival. However, once the British took over, the Jews became a true
part of the society and were able to build public, synagogue based communities. Over time, they
grow drastically into the biggest Jewish community, and were the basis for the rest of Jewish

Technology And The Cell Phone
Wearing your computer may not be a future fashion statement so much as a way to carry the most
ubiquitous personal electronic device with us wherever we may roam. Gear lust of the wearable
sort stretches back to Bat Man s utility belt: technology you could take with you on the go. Today,
we carry the modern version of a Star Trek communicator (the cell phone) a device that is
increasingly indispensable. Alongside the cell phone are a host of other handheld gadgets that
would have been science fictiona few short years ago: child locators, universal remote controls (now
capable of turning the AC down on hot summer days, opening the miniblinds, and controlling our
increasingly complex home entertainment systems, just to name a few standard jobs), portable CD
and DVD players, and personal organizers. But where does our infatuation with portable technology
come from? In the 1980 s, during the era of Reaganomics, computers became personal and
profitable. Until the first generation of the so called home computers , computers had been
anything but personal. Most of them were million dollar mammoths that took up whole floors of
buildings and took an engineering degree just to find the power button. Large corporations like
IBM and Xerox were the only entities outside government agencies and research facilities that could
afford computers ironic, since many of the same corporations would miss the boat when it came to
initial investments in the PC market. The Internet destined

Women Leaving Her Husband Analysis
Butler explains to her readers the ample reasons why wives of the medieval time period would
decide to leave their husbands. In fact, on page 338 of her article, Butler writes, The goal of this
paper is to provide a more comprehensive perspective of husband desertion, including the risks
involved in deserting one s husband, the wifes motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler
338). She begins her article with some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers
that at this point in history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of
the misogyny found in medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to explain to her
readers the trials and tribulations these wives had to go through, the risk of others knowing she
wanted to leave, and what made the wives want to leave at all. Butler first chooses to explain what
the risks were when a wife left her husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in
medieval marriages, if a womandecided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the
consequences that would follow. For instance, Butler points out to her audience that if a woman
decided to leave her husband, then must live with the label of adulteress. This label guarantees that
this woman would never be able to claim any inheritance in... Show more content on

Essay on Ida B. Wells
Ida B. Wells
Ida B. Wells (1862 1931) was a newspaper editor and journalist who went on to lead the American
anti lynching crusade. Working closely with both African American community leaders and
American suffragists, Wells worked to raise gender issues within the quot;Race Question quot; and
race issues within the quot;Woman Question. quot; Wells was born the daughter of slaves in Holly
Springs, Mississippi, on July 16, 1862. During Reconstruction, she was educated at a Missouri

In the aftermath of the lynching and her outspoken criticism of it, her newspaper s office was
sacked. Wells then moved to New York City, where she continued to write editorials and against
lynching, which was at an all time high level in the years after Reconstruction. Joining the staff of
The New York Age, Wells became a very respected lecturer and organizer for anti lynching societies
made up of men and women of all races. She traveled throughout the U.S. and went to Britain twice
to speak about anti lynching activities.
In 1895 Wells married Ferdinand L. Barnett, a Chicago lawyer, public official, and publisher of the
Conservator. She settled in Chicago and adopted as her married name Ida Wells Barnett. After 1895
she limited her activities to Chicago, but she was quite active in Chicago s rapidly growing African
American community. In Chicago she wrote for the Conservator, published an expose of lynching,
The Red Record, and organized Chicago women regarding several causes, from anti lynching to
suffrage. From 1898 to 1902, Wells served as secretary of the National Afro American Council,
and in 1910 she founded and became the first president of the Negro Fellowship League.

Americans, and insisted that the African American community must win justice through its own

The And Cons Of Cell Phones
When deciding to give your teen a cell phone it s imperative that you research the pro s and cons
of adolescents having cell phones. With this information, you can allow your teen to be more
efficient and hopefully dodge the 7 mishaps that most teens fall into when operating a cell
phone. When a child hits their teen years they become more involved with their friends than
they do their family. So, we as parents find that giving them a cell phone helps to modify their
whereabouts and gives us peace of mind knowing we can always get a hold of them and vise
versa. Since our teens are so focused on friends, having a cell phone has been a useful tool in
getting the instant gratitude that they are looking for. Unfortunately, studies have shown there
are many medical issues that will affect teens in their future years as adults. Below is a list of
the seven mishaps with a brief description. 1.Tendonitis: Many people who use a cell phone on a
regular basis text daily; this is a new way to communicate. By texting daily we will see more and
more individuals with tendonitis in their hands, which will cause arthritis and carpal tunnel.
2.Stress: Having a cell phone can be stressful because many teens are very vulnerable and it s
important to them to have friends and to be able to fit in with their peers. They want instant
answers, instant responses. Having a cell phone causes teens to be on the phone too much and they
may lose their ability to work on anything

What Is Walzer s Theory Of Aggression
What is Walzer s Theory of Aggression ?
According to Michael Wazler, the theory of aggression implies to the ideologies of jus ad bellum
as detailed in the international law. He uses domestic correlation as the basis of the theory by
explaining how the rules that govern citizens apply to the international community. The rights that
apply to the citizens are similar to those of the states. He argues that Every violation of the
territorial integrity or political sovereignty of an independent state is called aggression He
subdivides the theory into six main points that act as the standards of comprehending war from a
moral point of view.
The international community constitutes of independent nations that Wazler uses to demonstrate
the concept of a civilized society.
The states that form the international community have rights. The foundation of the rights is the
rights guaranteed to persons.
It is a crime for a state to use force against the other. Such actions comprise the state s rights.
The justification of violence as a means of defending oneself where individuals and states use it as
a method of enforcing laws
Hostility serves to validate war
It is possible to punish and ward off aggressors
Walzer seeks to point out that when states emphasize on their rights, they must also be (somehow)
the objects of punishment
How does Walzer modify that theory in the section of the book on jus ad bellum, and why does he
feel it needs modification?
He uses the

Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory
Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency
relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal
delegates decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The
important assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between
principals and agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetryfrequently
exists between principals and agents; agents are more riskaverse than the principal; and efficiency
is the effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential
problems stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem
and a risk sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the
principals and it is difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the
delegated work.
A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause
disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is achieved through improved public service delivery and more informed policy design. In
many countries, especially developing ones, the government fails to deliver key essential services
to its citizens due to problems such as: misallocation of resources, leakages or corruption, weak
incentives or a lack of articulated demand (William, 2002). Similarly, governments often formulate
policies in a discretionary and non transparent manner that goes against the interests and actual
priorities of the poor, these problems are perpetuated because the three key groups of actors in the
public policy and service delivery chain policy makers, service providers and citizens have different
(sometimes conflicting) goals and incentives, compounded by information asymmetries and lack of
communication (William,

Cinderella Story Analysis
Since its first telling, this story has been loved and enjoyed by people all around the world. It s
popularity high and it s variations money, the Cinderella story is appreciated by children and
adults alike. However, as time has passed and values changed, these variations have become more
divisive. Many American parents have trouble allowing their children to read them when much of
the material they disagree with. This not only puts them in a difficult position with their children
but also with the many other parents who see no problem allowing their children to read and
enjoy these tales. The parents unhappy with the contents of the tale often find problems with the
way in which the stepmother is presented. For example, in The Wicked Stepmother a story from
India, the author writes of the stepmother, She at once took a dislike to them, and treated them
unkindly and gave them little food (The Wicked Stepmother 614). It is very common for the
stepmother to have no redeeming qualities in these stories which the parents find problematic. In
today s world, there are many combined families that believe it is a bad idea to cause children to
fear their stepmothers. They also disapprove of the way the story continues the negative stereotype
of the wicked stepmother which harms both stepmothers and their stepchildren. The parents who
find no problem with the story have a different perspective on the stepmother s role. In their
opinion, the use of the stepmother as the antagonist is important to the story and children s
understanding of it. Children have not developed deeper, more complex fears yet. Their fears are
more simplistic and base level. For most children their lives revolve around home and family, this
makes the idea of an evil stepmother something especially scary to them because like Cinderella
they wouldn t be able to leave a situation like that on their own. For many children it takes time to
be able to empathize with others. So, making the villain something simplistic that relates to
something they would personally be afraid of raises the stakes for them and makes it easier for the
child to put him or herself into the character s shoes or glass slippers in this case. Another

Moving To America
Imagine living in a country set in their own ways, and you could never change that. Riddled with
disease and famine, you have no place to turn except to leave your homeland and pursue
opportunities in a country you have never been to. When you arrive in America matters seem to get
worse.
Without clothes, food, shelter, and no way to grow your community, you ask yourself this question,
was it really worth leaving?
The Norwegian immigrants that used to live in
America may ask this question. In 1825, 52
Norwegians traveled to America to seek religious freedom. In Norway from
1807 1814 many Norwegians were captured by the British in the war.
While they were there, many were introduced to Quakerism, and when they were released, they
brought these religious practices back with them. The Norwegian
Government did not approve of any religion besides Lutheran, so when the prisoners came back,
they decided to leave to avoid religious persecution. America was a great place to travel to, because
of its freedom of religion bill, which was passed in 1786. This bill allowed anyone to have the

it takes to make a swan, and what it takes to dance Peter Martins choreography. Schandorff, a
principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and one of the originators of the role when it was
created on the Danes in 1996, replaced Miranda Weese in the dual role of Odette and Odile. I ve
now seen four women in these roles (Meunier, Weese, Whelan and Schandorff) and there s no
question that Schandorff was the best prepared, even with having to fly trans Atlantic and with
perhaps a day s rehearsal with her partner. She s now done the role for three years, but even more
importantly, the thought that struck one like a thunderbolt on even her first entrance was My
God! She s actually been *coached*! There was never a single moment Schandorff seemed left
to her own devices. It didn t look fey, or artificial and overcoached, it just didn t look thoughtless.
It s not even a matter of her arms and legs being in the right position (they were, always.) She
knew who she was, whether Odette or Odile. She knew who Siegfried was. She always knew
why she danced. She knew when she was swearing her love, when she was saying no , when she
was leaving him forever. I m not trying to denigrate Schandorff by emphasizing how much it seems
she had help. She also very obviously has excellent instincts and facility and can act. But in a full
length narrative ballet like Swan Lake, instincts are not enough,

The Keystone Xl Pipeline Project
The Keystone XL Pipeline has divided North America because it is an enormous environmental
issue. It has divided us due to our opinions. Many Americans see the potential it could bring to our
country and economy, but there are several environmental problems to consider and health issues
to think about before deciding which side to take. Not only do those factors matter but also how it
could affect the lives of many Americans. There are two sides to this issue, to either approve or
disapprove the Keystone Pipelineproject, and by researching I will form an opinion. In 2012,
Congress had a payroll tax cut extension bill that had an attached provision requiring that the
Keystone XL receive a permit within 60 days unless President Obama... Show more content on

Nitrogen dioxide increases symptoms in people with asthma. Boxer decided to conduct an
experiment with a group of school kids in her home state. She asked the students how many of
them have asthma or know someone with asthma. About half the class raised their hand. This is
important because nearly 25 million people in the America have asthma according to research
done in 2009, resulting in the US seeing an event occur like the Black Plague all over again.
Another issue that has arose would include the pipeline rupturing leaving us with an oil spill on
our hands. Tar sands is the most difficult type of oil to clean up in the event it were to spill.
Mainly because it is so heavy it would sink straight to the bottom of the water. A perfect example
of a tar sands spill happened in Michigan s Kalamazoo River in 2010 when approximately thirty
five miles of the Kalamazoo River was closed for clean up until June 2012, when they had
portions of the river re opened. We can still see the effects it has had on Michigan because they
have not fully cleaned all of the oil out of the river. The US lost about 1,100,000 gallons due to
this spill, resulting 30 to 50 households to excavate the area and were told not to drink any of
their water supplies due to all the highly toxins released from the pipeline rupture. To clean up all
the damage from the spill at first it was around $585 million and was expected to rise by 20
percent more. The

Executive Summary Cape Breton Boat Rentals is a boat rental company owned by Bruce
MacLean and operated by his brother Malcolm Maclean. Although their reception was welcoming
in the year 1988, their selling price could be said is at below the actually operating cost. To avoid
the same situation in 1989, the MacLean bothers had to improvise and make aggressive decisions
like for example tripling their advertisements. We will show possible ways and methods on how
they would have improved in marketingconcepts. We will go through the marketing characteristics,
marketing mix and marketing concepts that were and should be applied. We feel Malcolm

3.0 Question 2
3.1 Intangibility
Intangibility means the incapacity to assess the value gained from using an intangible service
where it can t be seen, touched, tasted, smelled or stored (Palmer, 2000). In intangibility there
are two different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience.
The search quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In
reality they would know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a
motorboat by only looking at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the
customer has rented the tangible product and has had an experience using it while being able to
assess whether it is satisfactory or not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers
would tend to return to the same place as they would have confidence on the service obtained.
Services are harder to market to potential customers compared to goods as there is no physical
evidence to showcase. This is where the advertisements, brochures and customers word of mouth
play a big role. The advertisements and brochures has to be crystal clear and direct to capture the
attention of potential customers, giving them an idea of the services that might be purchased,
which in this case is rental of various boats.

Effects Of Group Counseling For Adolescent Immigrants
Group Counseling for Adolescent Immigrants
One of the most important factors of immigration is, in most of the times, the difficult process of
acculturation. This process can be difficult as a person has to adopt the new culture and social
standards. Therefore, immigrants, in general, can experience many stressors, such as
discrimination, lack of financial resources, language inadequacy, disorientation, and many more.
The result of all of the effect of those stressors in a person is called Acculturative Stress (Cite
Acculturative Stress, Anxiety... Hovey, Joseph). In the case of adolescents, they are all living
through a period in life that involves psychological and physical development. During this stage,
they are also finding their true self and identity (Cite Group therapy on the edge).
Many families coming from another country, looking for better opportunities, often come with
adolescents, which means that they will also experience the difficult process of acculturation.
Some of the many factors that can affect adolescent immigrants are discrimination, due to their
new social status as immigrants and because they are part of a racial/ethnic minority, and
insecurity based on lack of language proficiency. One of the predictors of depressive symptoms is
the experience of being discriminated, which can contribute to a negative perception of the
adolescent s ethnic group. Also, adolescents lack of language skills can have a negative effect by
decreasing their self esteem

A Soldiers Sacrifice Analysis
A Soldier s Sacrifice
This image of the soldiers holding up the land uses the contrasting moods of the colors on top and
bottom, the symbolism, and the eye catchers to show how the soldiers are sacrificing themselves,
and the people are taking that sacrifice for granted.
The contrasting moods the two halfs of the picture are portrayed by the use of the cool calm
colors up top which portrayed the peaceful mood of the families beach visit and the dark red of
the soldiers blood from the bottom to show a somber mood of the war. The dark colors of the
dead uniforms of the soldiers give off a gloomy air while the light, brighter colors of the living,
specifically the family on top, gives off a sort of hope feeling. The bright blue sea from the top
of the picture and the red sea of blood gives off the contrasting moods of how the people are

Jess to play football. She meets Juliette Jules Paxton, who encourages her to join her team, the

Or What family would want a daughter in law who can run around kicking a football all day, but

around half naked in front of men. According to Interaction and the Conservation of Gender
Inequality: Considering Employment, by Cecilia L. Ridgeway , it s well documented that
currently accepted gender stereotypes incorporate assumptions of men s greater status value;
that is, men s traits are generally viewed as more valuable than women s and men are diffusely
judged as more competent (221). However, if Jess was a boy a lot of these pressures and dilemmas
wouldn t exist. Jules is expected to be like all the other girls. We see this when Paula encourages
Jules to buy girly bras instead of sports bras and tries to persuade her to be more feminine. They
both are expected to be focused on finding a boyfriend or husband.
Moreover, Jess, as an Indian, faces has even more problems to deal with. Firstly, she is expected
to just to marry an Indian guy, not a white or Muslim guy. Cooking is the second important thing
shown in this film. According to feminist philosopher Uma Narayan, cooking is especially
emblematic of Indian culture; therefore a proper Indian woman should know how to cook. (Quoted
in McClain 712). Mrs. Bhamra is an excellent example of ideal Indian femininity

Guidelines Of Guidelines On Policy Rules
Policy Rules For the purposes of being in line with my legal and ethical responsibilities, I would
construct my policy for sharing information with students by FERPA guidelines. While I would
allow the release of information in following FERPA regulations, I would strongly advise for
counselors to still be mindful when releasing information. I would suggest that they only release
information with their upmost discretion and for circumstances where not only FERPA permits,
but that it also seems to be of benefit for the student. As many of the guidelines state, the schools
may release information in certain circumstances, but they do not have to. This is what I would
relay to my counselors.
Directly Releasing Information Directory information. The first policy rule would be that
counselors may release directory information if the student has been informed of the school s
ability to release that information and has not submitted a written objection. If the student has been
made aware of the type of information that the school determines to be directory and did not notify
the school that he or she did not agree to the release, then this directory information may be
released. However, I would still advise counselors to use their discretion and note if releasing this
information to parents would actually benefit the student. If it will not, then I would advise against
releasing the information. I would also encourage my counselors to always consult with FERPA

The panoply of Saturn s colorful rings greeted Surina the next morning. In fact, many dazzled
passengers packed the observation deck to admire the fresco of shimmering pastel pinks, grays,
yellows, and browns painted by the most prolific artist of all, the creator of the universe. Orbiting
in the magical ringlets of Saturn were the icy rocks from the blown up remnants of the ancient
moons that reflected the sunlight to produce the glittering pastel colors. Similar to Jupiter, Saturn
was a gas giant of primarily hydrogen and helium gasses without a solid surface, on which fierce
winds, lightning storms, and bitter cold temperatures raged. Titan, the biggest of the fifty three

see the last two planets in our Solar System. First, will be Uranus or the Greek god of the sky and
later, Neptune or the Roman god of the sea. These ice giants of frozen water, ammonia, and
methane have much fainter rings than Saturn s dramatic ones. From their far flung locations at the
edge of the Solar System, it takes eighty four Earth years for Uranus to orbit once around the Sun in
comparison with a hundred and sixty five Earth years for Neptune. Additionally, Neptune is the
only planet in the Solar System not visible from Earth without a telescope. Both planets have frozen

Uranus and minus four hundred degrees Celsius for Neptune. The two planets appear blue due to
the reflection of blue light by methane, a primary component in their atmosphere. Furthermore, the
twenty seven moons of Uranus have names from characters of William Shakespeare s plays such

The Political Participation Of Ghana
One thing that is worth of notice is that, though the opposition had grievances, they did not resort to
violence but the law. This also shows the confidence that people have developed and are developing
in the court system and it is important that institutions are strengthened to consolidate democracies.
Political participation has been impressive though voter turnout has fluctuated. The lowest turn out
was the 1992 elections. This election recorded a turnout of 53.75%. It is not surprising because,
Ghana was returning from over a decade of military rule. The 1996 general elections also
recorded a voter turnout of 76.09%; 2000 general elections, 61.7%; 2004 general elections had a
voter turnout of 85.1%. This is the highest voter turnout ever recorded. The first round of the 2008
general election was 69.52% and the presidential run off had a turnout of 72.91%. The 2012
general elections also had a voter turnout of 80.15%.
It will be simple to define political participation by using voter turnout in elections as the only
yardstick. Hence, it is imperative for governments and for that matter the Ghanaian government to
include citizens and get their interest in the affairs of the state. Thus political participation should
not end at the ballot.
3.0 How Ghana made it?

Most desktops offer a better price to performance ratio (Kb.wisc.edu, 2014), they are also the
most versatile in terms of upgrading. Although it is possible in many cases to replace the RAM
and hard drive in a laptop, a desktop allows for all the main components of a computer

Sir Arthur Conan Doyles The Hound of the Baskervilles is a mysterious Sherlock Holmes story

Granulosus Case Study
The echinococcus granulosus has been described as the most frequent cause of the hydatid cysts.
Humans are the incidental intermediate host. Larvae emerge from the eggs in the intestine; and
after invasion to the blood vessels, they can migrate into almost every part of the body. The usual
destination is the liver via the portal tract, but sometimes the larvae pass through the liver barrier
and reach the lungs and all the other viscera, where they transform into small cysts. The cyst of
echinococcus is a rare finding in pelvic sites.Dissemination via lymphatic or systemic circulation
has been implicated as a possible route to produce primary hydatid diseases outside the liver and

The Possibility Of Overpopulation In Aldous Huxley s Brave...
The future, disputed over by many intellectuals, is an enigma. There is no certainty in what will
occur, along with no shortage of wonder in what can come about. The future, deemed any point in
time past the one humans are currently living in, is something that can only be defined by time
itself. Throughout Brave New WorldRevisited by Aldous Huxley, the author speaks on the
predictions of the future he made in his novel Brave New World , where as he seeks to justify
whether or not they were accurate or irrelevant. In Brave New World Revisited, Aldous Huxley

Before addressing the problems which occurs Huxley speaks of it is essential to speak of what
Huxley s original prediction was in the original Brave New World , published in 1932. According
to Huxley, as the world progressed and the overpopulation issue became more and more of a
relevant issue, the future humans were going to regulate the population. According to Huxley, if
population was not controlled, the natural resources of the world would diminish at an exponential
rate. In addition to this, he argued that a Democratic form of government would be nearly

What Are The Similarities Between The Julius Caesar And...
The last century of the Roman Republic holds two of greatest political alliances in history, the
First Triumvirate, created in 60 BC, and the Second Triumvirate, created in 43 BC. While the
circumstances and actions of these two unions are very different, they tend to have vey similar
trends. Three men come together to increase their political power, take control of the Republic,
and fight against a particular group that opposes them. First, we shall look at the creations of these
two alliances, as they seem to have distinct similarities. The characters that fill these two coalitions,
a brilliant politician, a military commander, and a successful senator, share similar qualities in
themselves. Finally, they both end in a similar fashion, as the two more successful men fight for
control of the Roman State. In 60 BC Gaius Julius Caesarreturned to Rome from his governorship
of Hispania Ulterior. There he has successfully campaigned against local tribes and given a
triumph. Roman law stated that generals given a triumph had to stay outside the city until the
triumph commenced, but Caesar also wanted to run for the consulship of 59 BC, which he had to
be in the city to declare. The Senate, led by Cato, denied his request to run in absentia, so Caesar
gave up his triumph to become a candidate. Caesar had a lot of opposition against him in the
senate, especially from the optimates. The greatest Roman general in 60 BC is Gneaus Pompeius, a

Star Life Cycle Essay
The first stage in the life cycle of a star is the Nebula. A Nebula is a swirling sea of dust and gas
but, it is not a star yet. Over time, the dust and gas will collect into a ball that sweeps through the
Nebula. The ball of gas and dust then begins to grow.
The Nebula becomes a Protostar, the second stage of a star s life cycle, once the ball of gas and
dust starts to shrink because of it s own mass and gravity. The Protostar is still not a star yet. At
this stage it can be up to 100x larger than our Sun! The Protostar will keep shrinking and start to

This is the fourth stage of a star s life cycle. The Star diameter will be about 700,000 km. An

Helium. Eventually the Hydrogen begins to run out, until the Star becomes a Red Giant.
The Red Giant is stage five of a star s life cycle and this fiery ball of nuclear fusion is about
50,000,000 km in diameter! The inner core of the Red Giant begins to shrink, and get hotter.
Then, the outer layers begin to separate from the inner layers and the Red Giant becomes larger in
size. Over time it could completely lose it s outer layer and start to shrink again.
The second to last stage could result in the Red Giant shrinking until it becomes a White Dwarf or
the Red Giant continuing to shrink until it explodes. If the outcome is a White Dwarf, it would
create a small, hot, hard to see star that is smaller than the Earth. If the outcome is an explosion, it
would result in the remnants of the core and a Nova or Supernova, which is a mass spitting off

(65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 662 rounded to the nearest integer. To
calculate the z score at the 25th percentile of the model I converted 25 into a decimal number (25
/100) and then plugged that decimal number (0.25) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us
invNorm (0.25, 0, 1) = 0.6744. Then to calculate the raw score at the 25th percentile I plugged
the z score 0.6744 into the raw score formula we solved earlier and got raw score= 0.6744
(65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw data value of 509 rounded to the nearest integer.
The z score and raw data value at 75th percentile of the model is 0.6744 and 598. To calculate the
z score at the 75th percentile of the model I converted 75 into a decimal (75/100) and then plugged
that decimal number (0.75) into

The Devil And Block Essay
The film begins with a knight, Antonius Block, and his squire, Jöns, washed up on shore after
fighting in the crusades. Block sees Death standing by him and challenges him to a game of
chess to live longer. After beginning the first half of the chess game, Block and Jöns begin
their journey to Block s castle when they encounter a band of actors. Block and Jöns continue
on their journey when come across a village, and they decide to stay for a while. At this village,
they encounter a young girl accused of witch craft, the actors, and Block begins questioning God
and his faith. Block goes to confession and confesses that his belief in God is dwindling because
he has never seen or heard any proof of his existence, but little does Block know, that... Show more

Throughout the film there is never masculine/fighting justice, but instead, there is a religious
justice established. Some examples of this is when Block is trying to find the purpose of life
and how God relates to everything. Block comes across a young woman who claims to know the
Devil and block asks to see him because the Devil is the only one to who could tell him about
God. However, Block does not see the Devil and realizes that there is no higher being acting over
the young woman. Block gives her pain medicine because he knows that she will not be saved
and by doing this Block establishes justice for this woman because he knows that she does not
deserve this fate because she is not possessed by the devil. Another example of justice that is seen
is when Block distracts Death to let the actor family escape. Death asks him if Block has done his
good deed yet and fulfilled a great purpose and Block answers, yes. This great deed was saving
the family from the Death and from the plague. In this scene Block established justice for this kind
family by saving them from Death. Additionally, there were moments were revenge occurred. One
of these moments is when Jöns saved the servant girl from being raped by the doctor. Later, Jöns
encounters the same man and burns his face. Overall, there are many occurrences of the themes of
justice and

Philip K. Dick And The Minority Report By George Orwell
We can t be confined to one way of thinking, and that terrifies our leaders. It means we can t be
controlled. Veronica Roth.
Various representations of the future are envisioned by many, most of which present a dystopia
rather than a utopia. This is due to the advancements being made by the modern world that raise
concerns about security and especially privacy, leading text makers to predict the worst. The issue
is discussed in the texts The Minority Report by Philip K. Dick (1956), Steven Spielberg s Minority
Report (2002) and George Orwell s 1984 (1949). Through elements such as surveillance,
technology and excessive government control, Philip K. Dick, Steven Spielberg and George
Orwell create a bleak and dystopic vision of the future.
Through falsely accusing innocent people and heavy control, a near dystopic future is
exemplified in the novella, The Minority Report (TMR) by Philip K. Dick. The story is based
on pre crime which is foreseen by three precognitives which result in a supposedly crime free
society. However, it only becomes an illusion of peace by essentially taking in individuals who
have broken no law, (pg. 72.) therefore there s a moral dilemma for the accused are being
imprisoned based on the majority report. The report is an accumulation of the two most similar
reports from the three precogs as mentioned by Dick, the existence of a majority logically implies a
corresponding minority (pg. 84). This means that the chance of the third

The World s Latest Events
Picture 60 years ago, there was only one source of information to seek out for information on the
world s latest events; the newspaper. The spreading of news was a passive relationship, with
producers distributing information down to consumers in a linear formation. There was no option
for the common citizen to instantly upload an essay or photo with their views on current world
events. Today we are much more fortunate, there has been a power shift from traditional producers;
creating an active relationship when it comes to citizens participating in the news. Whether the user
is actively uploading information themselves or reading what others have posted, there is a large
jump in the number of people who feel the need to become involved in todays happenings. With a
large number of individuals spreading updates of the worlds news there also comes advances in
technology that aids the distribution of such information. Multiple online platforms have been
created to assist the public in their ongoing quest to share information around the world.
As advances in technology rapidly grows in todays society, so does the number of ways in which
we can spread the information we are receiving. Individuals have the ability to share current
events as soon as they occur, rather than waiting for the newspaper to cover only one aspect of the
news story days after it has occurred. It s becoming more uncommon for the average person to take
the time to sit down and watch the television or read

The Law And Common Law
INTRODUCTION
In the field of using another person or and organisations land under the bind of a contractual
agreement is normally in place to clearly state and establish each parties rights and obligations to
each other and indeed to the property. Common law has a role to place in relation to these
tenancies whether they be residential or commercial as far as trying to protect tenants and newer
legislations are always geared towards protecting the rights of tenants, this is very important
considering the current backdrop and trend towards renting property in the United Kingdom as
opposed to homeownership. Common law does not have the same reputation in relation to

4 The fourth kind of license and the most important in relation to the unique factors that a court in
Northern Ireland will take into consideration in distinguishing between a lease and a license is a
contractual licence. A contractual licence which is more relevant in this case is in effect
permission to use or occupy land or property, this type of licence derives from an implied
contract. The licensee does not have a legal estate however, A license normally infers
occupational rights similar to that a hotel owner has over a guest, due to the level of control that
the hotel owner exercises over their property the guest will not have an exclusive possession of the
room they occupy and are seen ultimately as lodgers or a licensee.
While there are the four different forms of licence it is vital to note that it is a very basic
different between all four which has been recognised law for a long time. If we view a licence in
a historical context we see it has long been established that is does not grant exclusive possession.
Property passeth no interest nor alters or transfers property in anything, but only makes an action
lawful, which without it had been unlawful Vaughan, Thomas v Sorrell ([1673] EWHC (KB) J85)
Those in possession of a license at most have exclusive occupation and do not have the statutory
protection of tenure under the (Rent Act 1977) which a lease holder enjoys. It must be noted that a
licence holder will have a

tremendously. For my research paper, I am going to talk about the specifics of how such

The most relevant equipment evolutions that will be discussed will be the shoulder pads, face
mask, mouth guards, pants, and helmets. The one piece of equipment from that list that will be
touched upon the most will be the helmet as it brings upon the ethical concern of concussions in
the game. I will talk about how these technological advances are made to improve upon safety, but
safety may just be from the choice of the players. With regards to specific rules

  • 2. Richard Wilbur s Boy At The Window War has changed many people s lives, including Richard Wilbur. Richard is a poet who was in the U.S. army in World War II. According to the Poetry Foundation, the war influenced his poetry. He was born in 1912 in New York City and won the Pulitzer Prize two times and won many other awards, such as the Wallace Stevens award. One poem Richard Wilbur wrote was Boy at the Window . This poem is about a boy looking out a window at a snowman, but the young boy does not quite understand why the snowman has to suffer out in the cold. The theme of the poem is as one grows older they will start to understand the world more. This relates to Richard s experience in the war. Richard was young when he went into the war and he had many fears that he could not understand before going into the war. In the poem, Boy at the Window , by Richard Wilbur, he shows a central idea of misunderstanding which shows the theme of as one grows older they will start to understand the world more by the context, literary devices, and mood in the poem. In the poem, Boy at the Window , the first way that the theme of as one grows older they will start to understand the world more is shown in the context of the poem. An example of how the context of the poem helped to show is by the quote in line 1, Seeing the snowman standing all alone (Wilbur). This quote is talking about a little boy looking out the window at the snowman. It helps to explain the theme because he is young and does not understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Are The Similarities Between Myrtle Wilson And Daisy Buchanan Comparing and contrasting of Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson both have similar positions and have both had impacts on the entirety of The Great Gatsby. Many would say that both are basically one and the same, and that one just goes about their situations differently than the other. Both have unchanging themes of wealth; However, that can also be said about most characters in the book. Daisy and Myrtle could actually not be more different from one another. This includes their personality and values in life. Daisy s behavior and actions are vastly different from Myrtle s. Her personality is shown to be charming, and careless. She is described to have a voice that Gatsby describes to be, full of money (120). This is likely what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Myrtle values the wealthy lifestyle greatly. She would even go so far as to create a facade of what she believes those of high societal class would act like in order to achieve that, and ironically, mocks the poor in the process. In Chapter 2 she exclaims toward Nick, I told that boy about the ice...you have to keep after them all the time (32). here it is proven that Myrtle believes in order to give everyone the impression that she is high class, she must act in a snobbish manner. Whereas Daisy who was born into wealth, values convenience majorly over the latter. Some may disagree and say that she values love, and it is true that she does search for love; However, this is contradicted when at the end of the day she stays with Tom Buchanan rather than Gatsby, as is shown in the last scene with them together, Daisy and Tom were sitting opposite of each other at the kitchen table with a plate of cold fried chicken between them, and two bottles of ale (145). She stays with Tom only for her own societal convenience, and she is willing to follow through with it even though he is a generally abusive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Psychology, Theology, And Spirituality Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Counseling by Mark R. McMinn is a book that discusses two different characteristics of the Christian Counseling field: in counseling sessions and life beyond the counseling sessions for example, the counselor s job and the counselor s life. Dr. McMinn starts his book with a brief section written with James Wilhoit that discusses religionin the counseling office. This first section talks about the importance of making good use of the Christian faith in counseling and not focusing on the relationship between psychology and theology (McMinn, 1996, p. 25). It also states the challenges that religion brings in counseling sessions and how to handle those. In the chapters that follow, McMinn talks about six Christian concepts in counseling. McMinn talks about a few challenges when a counselor attempts to integrate psychology and theology. Some of these are complications of spiritual formation, blurred professional and personal life, training problems, worldview differences, no scientific support, and unique ethical elements in religious counseling (McMinn, 1996, p. 46). McMinn talks about three areas that Christian counseling makes stronger: sense of self, an awareness of human need and limitations that everyone has, and talking about personal relationships we have with God and others. In the third chapter, McMinn talks about prayer in counseling. Prayer is a part of life for many people. Prayer is more than a form of counseling; it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kyle Reevee Interview Paper In the process of finding a software engineer interviewee, I had the chance to find Kyle Reeve, Software Engineer at Symbotic in Boston Massachusetts, who is also a robotics aficionado just like I am. In late October I was able to schedule an interview with in order to get to know a bit about about his position and experiences. At first we started to talk about his background. In fact, I learned that Kyle s company uses git to track all of their projects. Once a feature is considered done, such feature must be reviewed by at least 3 other people and get their consent to merge into the master branch of git. In other words, at least 3 people must review the feature and agree that the feature is ready to be implemented in the final product. At the end of the fall quarter, I start to enjoy doing more exercise. Before I go to sleep, I do exercise every day at home with soft music. It also helps me to sleep better. Doing exercisemakes me feel good and have more confident. My goals set for the quarter are to increase my fitness level, and learn to breath with the movement. My goals were all met and I feel satisfied. The two different Pilates exercises I will be demonstrated are Criss Cross and Double Leg Stretch. The first Pilates exercise is Criss Cross. First, the start position is to lay flat on back with hands placed palm over palm at the base of the neck. Then bring both knees into chest and curl the head and shoulders off the mat. • 8. Swedish Welfare System Swedish Welfare System Sweden has created a social welfare state that has eliminated a great deal of poverty by providing extensive government aid to all citizens. It is referred to as the Swedish Model , and is based off of the belief that all citizens are entitled to help from the government. Although taxrates may be high the benefits by far outweigh the downfalls. The Swedish Model is more efficient and effective at equalizing citizen welfarethan the United States system; in the United States the rich get richer, and those in poverty use welfare to barely scrape by. In Sweden all citizens are taxed fairly and have use of social welfare programs that have a much greater capacity to help citizens. These welfares are limited not only... • 9. How Did The Colonies Affect The Development Of The Middle... Once New York was established as part of the British Empire, many sources choose to focus solely on New York s history. However, many also focus on New York as part of a greater entity, the Middle colonies, explaining how the development of the colonies as a whole affected New York. Each colony was unique, and their lifestyle was tailored to fit their needs depending on their environment. Tracing the development of slavery, Judaism, and Leisler s Rebellion can explain why New York grew similarly to some colonies, while still maintaining its own unique qualities. Slavery had a big impact on the development of the colonies in America, and each region used slavery in different ways to benefit their economy. Each colony s geography and location impacted the amount of slaves that they needed. The South had very good farmland, and therefore their economy was centered around cash crops, which requires a lot of slaves. However, New England did not have good farmland, and therefore only focused on sustenance farming, which does not require slaves. In addition, the North did not support slaves because it went against their religious values. The Middle colonies fall in between these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Technology And The Cell Phone Wearing your computer may not be a future fashion statement so much as a way to carry the most ubiquitous personal electronic device with us wherever we may roam. Gear lust of the wearable sort stretches back to Bat Man s utility belt: technology you could take with you on the go. Today, we carry the modern version of a Star Trek communicator (the cell phone) a device that is increasingly indispensable. Alongside the cell phone are a host of other handheld gadgets that would have been science fictiona few short years ago: child locators, universal remote controls (now capable of turning the AC down on hot summer days, opening the miniblinds, and controlling our increasingly complex home entertainment systems, just to name a few standard jobs), portable CD and DVD players, and personal organizers. But where does our infatuation with portable technology come from? In the 1980 s, during the era of Reaganomics, computers became personal and profitable. Until the first generation of the so called home computers , computers had been anything but personal. Most of them were million dollar mammoths that took up whole floors of buildings and took an engineering degree just to find the power button. Large corporations like IBM and Xerox were the only entities outside government agencies and research facilities that could afford computers ironic, since many of the same corporations would miss the boat when it came to initial investments in the PC market. In fact, on page 338 of her article, Butler writes, The goal of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive perspective of husband desertion, including the risks involved in deserting one s husband, the wifes motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler 338). She begins her article with some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers that at this point in history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of the misogyny found in medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to explain to her readers the trials and tribulations these wives had to go through, the risk of others knowing she wanted to leave, and what made the wives want to leave at all. Butler first chooses to explain what the risks were when a wife left her husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in medieval marriages, if a womandecided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the consequences that would follow. For instance, Butler points out to her audience that if a woman decided to leave her husband, then must live with the label of adulteress. This label guarantees that this woman would never be able to claim any inheritance in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this information, you can allow your teen to be more efficient and hopefully dodge the 7 mishaps that most teens fall into when operating a cell phone. When a child hits their teen years they become more involved with their friends than they do their family. So, we as parents find that giving them a cell phone helps to modify their whereabouts and gives us peace of mind knowing we can always get a hold of them and vise versa. Since our teens are so focused on friends, having a cell phone has been a useful tool in getting the instant gratitude that they are looking for. Unfortunately, studies have shown there are many medical issues that will affect teens in their future years as adults. Below is a list of the seven mishaps with a brief description. 1.Tendonitis: Many people who use a cell phone on a regular basis text daily; this is a new way to communicate. By texting daily we will see more and more individuals with tendonitis in their hands, which will cause arthritis and carpal tunnel. 2.Stress: Having a cell phone can be stressful because many teens are very vulnerable and it s important to them to have friends and to be able to fit in with their peers. • 15. What Is Walzer s Theory Of Aggression What is Walzer s Theory of Aggression ? According to Michael Wazler, the theory of aggression implies to the ideologies of jus ad bellum as detailed in the international law. He uses domestic correlation as the basis of the theory by explaining how the rules that govern citizens apply to the international community. The rights that apply to the citizens are similar to those of the states. He argues that Every violation of the territorial integrity or political sovereignty of an independent state is called aggression He subdivides the theory into six main points that act as the standards of comprehending war from a moral point of view. The international community constitutes of independent nations that Wazler uses to demonstrate the concept of a civilized society. The states that form the international community have rights. The foundation of the rights is the rights guaranteed to persons. It is a crime for a state to use force against the other. Such actions comprise the state s rights. The justification of violence as a means of defending oneself where individuals and states use it as a method of enforcing laws Hostility serves to validate war It is possible to punish and ward off aggressors Walzer seeks to point out that when states emphasize on their rights, they must also be (somehow) the objects of punishment How does Walzer modify that theory in the section of the book on jus ad bellum, and why does he feel it needs modification? • 16. Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal delegates decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The important assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between principals and agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetryfrequently exists between principals and agents; agents are more riskaverse than the principal; and efficiency is the effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential problems stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem and a risk sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the principals and it is difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the delegated work. A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many countries, especially developing ones, the government fails to deliver key essential services to its citizens due to problems such as: misallocation of resources, leakages or corruption, weak incentives or a lack of articulated demand (William, 2002). Similarly, governments often formulate policies in a discretionary and non transparent manner that goes against the interests and actual priorities of the poor, these problems are perpetuated because the three key groups of actors in the public policy and service delivery chain policy makers, service providers and citizens have different (sometimes conflicting) goals and incentives, compounded by information asymmetries and lack of communication (William, ... • 17. Cinderella Story Analysis Since its first telling, this story has been loved and enjoyed by people all around the world. It s popularity high and it s variations money, the Cinderella story is appreciated by children and adults alike. However, as time has passed and values changed, these variations have become more divisive. Many American parents have trouble allowing their children to read them when much of the material they disagree with. This not only puts them in a difficult position with their children but also with the many other parents who see no problem allowing their children to read and enjoy these tales. The parents unhappy with the contents of the tale often find problems with the way in which the stepmother is presented. For example, in The Wicked Stepmother a story from India, the author writes of the stepmother, She at once took a dislike to them, and treated them unkindly and gave them little food (The Wicked Stepmother 614). It is very common for the stepmother to have no redeeming qualities in these stories which the parents find problematic. In today s world, there are many combined families that believe it is a bad idea to cause children to fear their stepmothers. They also disapprove of the way the story continues the negative stereotype of the wicked stepmother which harms both stepmothers and their stepchildren. The parents who find no problem with the story have a different perspective on the stepmother s role. In their opinion, the use of the stepmother as the antagonist is important to the story and children s understanding of it. Children have not developed deeper, more complex fears yet. Their fears are more simplistic and base level. For most children their lives revolve around home and family, this makes the idea of an evil stepmother something especially scary to them because like Cinderella they wouldn t be able to leave a situation like that on their own. For many children it takes time to be able to empathize with others. So, making the villain something simplistic that relates to something they would personally be afraid of raises the stakes for them and makes it easier for the child to put him or herself into the character s shoes or glass slippers in this case. Riddled with disease and famine, you have no place to turn except to leave your homeland and pursue opportunities in a country you have never been to. When you arrive in America matters seem to get worse. Without clothes, food, shelter, and no way to grow your community, you ask yourself this question, was it really worth leaving? The Norwegian immigrants that used to live in America may ask this question. In 1825, 52 Norwegians traveled to America to seek religious freedom. In Norway from 1807 1814 many Norwegians were captured by the British in the war. While they were there, many were introduced to Quakerism, and when they were released, they brought these religious practices back with them. The Norwegian Government did not approve of any religion besides Lutheran, so when the prisoners came back, they decided to leave to avoid religious persecution. America was a great place to travel to, because of its freedom of religion bill, which was passed in 1786. This bill allowed anyone to have the religion they desired, and also granted ... Dance In Swan Lake Interpretation Watching Silja Schandorff s fully realized performance in Swan Lake teaches much about what it takes to make a swan, and what it takes to dance Peter Martins choreography. Schandorff, a principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and one of the originators of the role when it was created on the Danes in 1996, replaced Miranda Weese in the dual role of Odette and Odile. I ve now seen four women in these roles (Meunier, Weese, Whelan and Schandorff) and there s no question that Schandorff was the best prepared, even with having to fly trans Atlantic and with perhaps a day s rehearsal with her partner. She s now done the role for three years, but even more importantly, the thought that struck one like a thunderbolt on even her first entrance was My God! She s actually been *coached*! There was never a single moment Schandorff seemed left to her own devices. It didn t look fey, or artificial and overcoached, it just didn t look thoughtless. It s not even a matter of her arms and legs being in the right position (they were, always.) She knew who she was, whether Odette or Odile. She knew who Siegfried was. She always knew why she danced. She knew when she was swearing her love, when she was saying no , when she was leaving him forever. I m not trying to denigrate Schandorff by emphasizing how much it seems she had help. She also very obviously has excellent instincts and facility and can act. But in a full length narrative ballet like Swan Lake, instincts are not enough, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In intangibility there are two different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience. The search quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In reality they would know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a motorboat by only looking at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the customer has rented the tangible product and has had an experience using it while being able to assess whether it is satisfactory or not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers would tend to return to the same place as they would have confidence on the service obtained. Services are harder to market to potential customers compared to goods as there is no physical evidence to showcase. This is where the advertisements, brochures and customers word of mouth play a big role. The advertisements and brochures has to be crystal clear and direct to capture the attention of potential customers, giving them an idea of the services that might be purchased, which in this case is rental of various boats. 3.2 Inseparability Inseparability means the ... Effects Of Group Counseling For Adolescent Immigrants Group Counseling for Adolescent Immigrants One of the most important factors of immigration is, in most of the times, the difficult process of acculturation. This process can be difficult as a person has to adopt the new culture and social standards. Therefore, immigrants, in general, can experience many stressors, such as discrimination, lack of financial resources, language inadequacy, disorientation, and many more. The result of all of the effect of those stressors in a person is called Acculturative Stress (Cite Acculturative Stress, Anxiety... Hovey, Joseph). In the case of adolescents, they are all living through a period in life that involves psychological and physical development. During this stage, they are also finding their true self and identity (Cite Group therapy on the edge). Many families coming from another country, looking for better opportunities, often come with adolescents, which means that they will also experience the difficult process of acculturation. Some of the many factors that can affect adolescent immigrants are discrimination, due to their new social status as immigrants and because they are part of a racial/ethnic minority, and insecurity based on lack of language proficiency. One of the predictors of depressive symptoms is the experience of being discriminated, which can contribute to a negative perception of the adolescent s ethnic group. Guidelines Of Guidelines On Policy Rules Policy Rules For the purposes of being in line with my legal and ethical responsibilities, I would construct my policy for sharing information with students by FERPA guidelines. While I would allow the release of information in following FERPA regulations, I would strongly advise for counselors to still be mindful when releasing information. I would suggest that they only release information with their upmost discretion and for circumstances where not only FERPA permits, but that it also seems to be of benefit for the student. As many of the guidelines state, the schools may release information in certain circumstances, but they do not have to. This is what I would relay to my counselors. Directly Releasing Information Directory information. The first policy rule would be that counselors may release directory information if the student has been informed of the school s ability to release that information and has not submitted a written objection. If the student has been made aware of the type of information that the school determines to be directory and did not notify the school that he or she did not agree to the release, then this directory information may be released. This also shows the confidence that people have developed and are developing in the court system and it is important that institutions are strengthened to consolidate democracies. Political participation has been impressive though voter turnout has fluctuated. The lowest turn out was the 1992 elections. This election recorded a turnout of 53.75%. It is not surprising because, Ghana was returning from over a decade of military rule. The 1996 general elections also recorded a voter turnout of 76.09%; 2000 general elections, 61.7%; 2004 general elections had a voter turnout of 85.1%. This is the highest voter turnout ever recorded. The first round of the 2008 general election was 69.52% and the presidential run off had a turnout of 72.91%. The 2012 general elections also had a voter turnout of 80.15%. It will be simple to define political participation by using voter turnout in elections as the only yardstick. Hence, it is imperative for governments and for that matter the Ghanaian government to include citizens and get their interest in the affairs of the state. Thus political participation should not end at the ballot. 3.0 How Ghana made it? Arguably, the answer lies in multi institutional efforts and reforms. Professor McMurran, a psychologist at the University of Nottingham, says that, Alcohol reduces our ability to think straight, it narrows our focus of attention and gives us tunnel vision. If someone provokes us while we re drunk, we don t take other factors into account, such as consequences, this can lead to violent reactions from people who would usually shrug things off (Alcohol and Aggression). This would explain why the narrator in The Black Cat would have had such violent mood swings which lead him to do the insane things that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Star Life Cycle Essay The first stage in the life cycle of a star is the Nebula. A Nebula is a swirling sea of dust and gas but, it is not a star yet. Over time, the dust and gas will collect into a ball that sweeps through the Nebula. The ball of gas and dust then begins to grow. The Nebula becomes a Protostar, the second stage of a star s life cycle, once the ball of gas and dust starts to shrink because of it s own mass and gravity. The Protostar is still not a star yet. At this stage it can be up to 100x larger than our Sun! The Protostar will keep shrinking and start to heat up, until it becomes roughly the size of our Sun. The Protostar becomes an Infrared once it reaches this size of our Sun. The Infrared is still not a star yet, but it is very close! At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the fourth stage of a star s life cycle. The Star diameter will be about 700,000 km. An average star will live for about 10 billion years in this stage. Our Sun is only about 5 billion years old. After the Infrared becomes a Star, it will continue to burn changing more of its Hydrogen into Helium. Eventually the Hydrogen begins to run out, until the Star becomes a Red Giant. The Red Giant is stage five of a star s life cycle and this fiery ball of nuclear fusion is about 50,000,000 km in diameter! The inner core of the Red Giant begins to shrink, and get hotter. Then, the outer layers begin to separate from the inner layers and the Red Giant becomes larger in size. Over time it could completely lose it s outer layer and start to shrink again. The second to last stage could result in the Red Giant shrinking until it becomes a White Dwarf or the Red Giant continuing to shrink until it explodes. If the outcome is a White Dwarf, it would create a small, hot, hard to see star that is smaller than the Earth. If the outcome is an explosion, it would result in the remnants of the core and a Nova or Supernova, which is a mass spitting off dust and gases that would start the entire star life cycle over ... • 40. Math Statistics Essay In this mathematical circumstance, it is appropriate to use the Normal Model with this data distribution because of how roughly symmetric and unimodal. The summary statistics for the OB Math SAT scores are as follow: the number of values is 287, the mean of the data is 553.62369, the standard deviation is of approximately 65.984512, the medianof the data is 540, the range of the data is 390, the minimum value is 360, the maximum value is 750, the first quartile of the data is 510, and the second quartile of the data is 590. To calculate the percent of students that had an SAT math score higher than 560, I used the z score formula which is z score= raw score mean/ standard deviationand plugged the values for each variable. After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After solving for the variable and then plugged in the values and I got raw score= 0.8416 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 609 rounded to the nearest integer. To be in the top 5% of the class a student would need to have a SAT score of around 662. I have come to that conclusion by simply converting 5 into a decimal number (5/100) and then plugging that decimal number (0.05) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us invNorm (0.05, 0, 1) = 1.6448. I then changed the number into a positive value to calculate the top 5%, and then plugged it into our raw score formula that we solved earlier and got raw score= 1.6448 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 662 rounded to the nearest integer. To calculate the z score at the 25th percentile of the model I converted 25 into a decimal number (25 /100) and then plugged that decimal number (0.25) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us invNorm (0.25, 0, 1) = 0.6744. Then to calculate the raw score at the 25th percentile I plugged the z score 0.6744 into the raw score formula we solved earlier and got raw score= 0.6744 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw data value of 509 rounded to the nearest integer. The z score and raw data value at 75th percentile of the model is 0.6744 and 598. To calculate the z score at the 75th percentile of the model I converted 75 into a decimal (75/100) and then plugged that decimal number (0.75) into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the film there is never masculine/fighting justice, but instead, there is a religious justice established. Some examples of this is when Block is trying to find the purpose of life and how God relates to everything. Block comes across a young woman who claims to know the Devil and block asks to see him because the Devil is the only one to who could tell him about God. However, Block does not see the Devil and realizes that there is no higher being acting over the young woman. Block gives her pain medicine because he knows that she will not be saved and by doing this Block establishes justice for this woman because he knows that she does not deserve this fate because she is not possessed by the devil. Another example of justice that is seen is when Block distracts Death to let the actor family escape. Death asks him if Block has done his good deed yet and fulfilled a great purpose and Block answers, yes. This great deed was saving the family from the Death and from the plague. In this scene Block established justice for this kind family by saving them from Death. Additionally, there were moments were revenge occurred. • 42. Philip K. Dick And The Minority Report By George Orwell We can t be confined to one way of thinking, and that terrifies our leaders. It means we can t be controlled. Veronica Roth. Various representations of the future are envisioned by many, most of which present a dystopia rather than a utopia. This is due to the advancements being made by the modern world that raise concerns about security and especially privacy, leading text makers to predict the worst. The issue is discussed in the texts The Minority Report by Philip K. Dick (1956), Steven Spielberg s Minority Report (2002) and George Orwell s 1984 (1949). Through elements such as surveillance, technology and excessive government control, Philip K. Dick, Steven Spielberg and George Orwell create a bleak and dystopic vision of the future. Through falsely accusing innocent people and heavy control, a near dystopic future is exemplified in the novella, The Minority Report (TMR) by Philip K. Dick. The story is based on pre crime which is foreseen by three precognitives which result in a supposedly crime free society. However, it only becomes an illusion of peace by essentially taking in individuals who have broken no law, (pg. 72.) therefore there s a moral dilemma for the accused are being imprisoned based on the majority report. The report is an accumulation of the two most similar reports from the three precogs as mentioned by Dick, the existence of a majority logically implies a corresponding minority (pg. 84). This means that the chance of the third ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A contractual licence which is more relevant in this case is in effect permission to use or occupy land or property, this type of licence derives from an implied contract. The licensee does not have a legal estate however, A license normally infers occupational rights similar to that a hotel owner has over a guest, due to the level of control that the hotel owner exercises over their property the guest will not have an exclusive possession of the room they occupy and are seen ultimately as lodgers or a licensee. While there are the four different forms of licence it is vital to note that it is a very basic different between all four which has been recognised law for a long time. If we view a licence in a historical context we see it has long been established that is does not grant exclusive possession. Property passeth no interest nor alters or transfers property in anything, but only makes an action lawful, which without it had been unlawful Vaughan, Thomas v Sorrell ([1673] EWHC (KB) J85) Those in possession of a license at most have exclusive occupation and do not have the statutory protection of tenure under the (Rent Act 1977) which a lease holder enjoys.
