My Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Foreign Environment...
Coming into the foreign environment that is college, I didn t know what to expect when it came to
beginning WRD 103. The various assignments that were asked to be produced exceptionally
strengthened my overall writing abilities. The idea of writing creatively within narratives and
analyzing different stories or commercials expanded the way can express my multi modal writing. My
skills within all of these areas are still under progress, but with the constant practice, I am confident
that these skills will continue to grow. Our first assignment was to compose the diagnostic essay. The
essay was created to showcase our strengths and weaknesses. Understanding my strengths and
weaknesses came as a difficulty because in high school we were never asked to explore these traits
within ourselves. While constructing this essay I had a hard time evaluating my own writing so I
needed an external source. I had a friend look at my writing and point out my strengths and
weaknesses. I then listed the pros and cons of my writing. Understanding the prompt has always been
a stronghold of mine, I am able to fully comprehend the purpose of the assignment. Being able to fully
understand the prompt has lead to stronger writing as I revisit the prompt and revise my papers. A sure
weakness of mine was clear organization of thoughts. I can say that it still haunts me. I can write a
good sentence yet, delete it because I tell myself that I can write a better sentence. The diagnostic
essay was

Big Business and The Robber Barons Essay
The decades after the Civil War rapidly changed the face of the United States. The rapid
industrialization of the nation changed us from generally agrarian to the top industrial power in the
world. Business tycoons thrived during this time, forging great business empires with the use of trusts
and pools. Farmers moved to the cities and into the factories, living off wages and changing the face
of the workforce. This rapid industrialization created wide gaps in society, and the government, which
had originally taken a hands off approach to business, was forced to step in. Many individuals took
advantage of the rapid industrialization and high influx of cheap labor in the form of immigrants.
Among these entrepreneurs were John D. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cornelius Vanderbilt was a steamship and railroad tycoon. He made millions in the steamship business
before turning to the promising railroad industry. He began to take capital from the steamship business
to buy railroads, starting with the New York and Harlem Railroad in 1862. Vanderbilt eventually
amassed over $100 million from his railroad empire and his wealth and power was virtually
untouchable. He was a ruthless businessman, once saying to a competitor You have undertaken to
cheat me. I won t sue you, for the law is too slow. I will ruin you. His New York Central rail line
operated from New York to Chicago along more than 4,500 miles of track at the time of his death.
George Pullman was the developer of the Pullman Palace Car, creating his own factory town of
Pullman, Chicago. With the massive success of the railroads, Pullman made a fortune producing his
luxury sleeping cars. He is well known for suppressing his striking workers in Pullman. When a
depression struck the country, he slashed wages the wages of his workers while keeping the wages of
his associates and the price of living the same. This created uproar and led to a strike amongst his
workers, eventually backed by Eugene Debs American Railway Union. The strike was violently put
down, showing that labor unions had little power to negotiate. These five industrialists and
entrepreneurs took advantage of the industrializing America and became

Don River Watershed Case Study
Based on model tests, Civica will propose the modelling approach for Don River watershed. At the
proposal stage, Civica would propose two approaches. The first approach is to create two models with
different channel lengths. For small storms, the full length will be used. And for large storms, the
length of valley corridor will be used. As the calibration and validation storms are usually small
storms. The large storm model can t be calibrated. It also increase the difficulty to manage different
models. The second approach is to change the model algorithms to dynamically change to
corresponding channel length based on water level. A threshold water level could be given to each
channel element. If water level exceed the threshold water level, ... Show more content on

G. Ross Lord Dam
G. Ross Lord Dam controls the flow in West Don River. Civica will model it as storage element with
operational rules defined in G. Ross Lord Dam Operations Maintenance and Surveillance Manual
2016. The operation records for selected calibration and validation events will be used for model
calibration and validation.
3.3.9. Model Connectivity
Civica will check the model connectivity between each model component. It will be done by
overlaying model components with GIS data and check all of them from upstream to downstream. For
modelling platforms with GIS integration, the model components themselves are georeferenced and
the connectivity could be easily checked. Connectivity tools are usually available in these modelling
platforms. They could be utilized to make sure all components are connected properly.
Civica will submit the initial model to TRCA for review before proceeding to model calibration and
validation.

Country Rock History
COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK
At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres that were
originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock and Roll s prism Country
and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s relentless energy. The newfound genres,
called Country Rock and Jazz Rock respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike,
having a major impact that is still traceable in today s music.
Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre approaches musical
harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its rudimentary melodic approach, which in
a majority of times is merely a backdrop for stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion,
and, unsurprisingly, the aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is
reached with the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other
hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating instrumental pieces
exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their ultimate goals. Throughout its history,
Jazz was moving in all directions, experimenting with all sorts of instruments and musical
movements.

While being misunderstood by the critics of that time, Black Sabbath was a groundbreaking moment,
dividing Rock music on before and after and being the first herald of the genre known as Heavy Metal
. During the following decade, Heavy Metal artists such as aforementioned Black Sabbath, Kiss, Iron
Maiden, Judas Priest and many others created their unique visual imagery: the dominance of dark
colors in cover arts, clothing and design of instruments, down the back long hair and the iconic sign of
the horns instantly became associated with the genre, finding both followers and

Refugee Language Barriers
Immigrants and refugees seeking services seem to lack knowledge and understanding of American
culture. This may lead to legal issues and barriers that can ultimately impact their health and well
being. Language barriers are a huge problem among the immigrant and refugee community which
leads to laws being broken without immigrants and refugees realizing that they are breaking the law.
For example, in one s native country, bribing law enforcement may be acceptable, while in the United
States, it is an offense which will result in arrest. Immigrants and refugees need to be taught this in a
way that they can understand.
Language barriers and lack of knowledge regarding the United States medical system are also
problems among the immigrant and refugee population. Because of the language barrier, immigrants
and refugees may feel embarrassed or uncomfortable going to the doctor which causes long term
issues.
Document evidence of the problem, including data on the scope or level of the problem. You may use
public records of community level indicators and/or community surveys.
According to the 2015 2016 Guilford County Health Assessment, about 11% of North Carolina
residents speak a language other than English in their homes. In Guilford County specifically, 13.6%
of the population speaks another language at home. Spanish is the highest spoken language other than
English in the home in both North Carolina and Guilford County (7% and 6.3%, respectively).

The Legacy Of Jesse Owens And The American Dream
Watch Me.. You Won t
The world record holder Jesse Owens digs his own starting blocks into the cinder track, Ready, Set,
Go. Jesse sprints the 100 meters and gains one of four gold medals. Jesse Owens is one of the greatest
track athletes that ever lived. He ran jumped and in his later career even won against horses. Many
called him the fastest man alive. Although some may say Jesse Owens did not change America s
position on racism, he was an influential and controversial person because he made the American
Dream and did what no one expected.
Some might say Jesse Owens is not controversial because he did not change the racism in America.
Jesse Owens said When I came back to my native country, after all the stories about Hitler, I couldn t
ride in the front of the bus, Owens said. I had to go to the back door. I couldn t live where I wanted. I
wasn t invited to shake hands with Hitler, but I wasn t invited to the White House to shake hands with
the President, either. This quote may be true, but Jesse Owens was influential and was an example that
it does not matter the ethnicity or nationality, a hero is a hero.
Jesse Owens is influential because, he is the best example of the American Dream. Jesse Owens was
The son of a sharecropper and the grandson of slaves. Citation1 So Owens started at the very bottom.

Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods
Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both
peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact
nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their
customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the
anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the
Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks
was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in
their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of
gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an
undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and
Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship
between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures.
From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for
their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these
sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians
act more out of a notion of respect. In

How was Passover? I hope to hear that it was great. With me everything is fine, and the holiday

time to disconnect from the stressful routine for a bit, and thank God that we have these periods to get
away from the busy daily pressures. I m already beginning to smell the end of the studies, and it is
another thing that brings me comfort and also pride. I am proud that I am finally graduating.

I Am The Messenger
I Am the Messenger is a great book that tells of a guy named Ed, who loves to play cards, but
suddenly starts getting messages in the mail that are marked on playing cards.. Ed is practically a
nobody not having much educational success, his father died some time ago and his mother hasn t had
great success in life either. The story basically starts off with a bank robbery, Ed and his friend Marv
are at the bank when the gunman arrives and demands to Marv his car keys. The gunman gets the keys
and jumps into the car, in which he drops his gun, Ed then takes the gun and holds down the gunman
until the cops arrive. At the trial, Ed testifies against him, and as they pass each other the Gunman tells
Ed, Every time you look in the mirror, remember you are looking at a dead man . This starts Ed s
journey. Ed lives alone in his apartment (that is owned by his boss) with his dog named the Doorman
and Ed is a cab driver. He is insanely in love with his friend, Audrey and it is clear that she loves him
back but they won t embrace their feelings. Several times a week, Ed, Marv, Audrey, and a close
friend named Ritchie play cards together. Soon after Ed anonymously receives his first playing card,
Ace of diamonds. Written on it are three addresses (it s always three) Edgar street, Harrison Avenue,
and Macedoni Street. The first address is at an old house where a man that gets drunk every night

Muslims Cope With Islamophobia
In recent years, islamophobia has become a serious problem plaguing our society due to the stigma
placed onto the muslim religion and Middle Eastern people by outlets such as social media,
politicians, and personal opinions. With the increase of negative attitudes towards these people due to
currents events, more awareness needs to be raised to make them feel safer and to remove this
unjustifiably placed stigma from their shoulders.
In Slate s video, How American Muslims Cope with Islamophobia , Ismail created a video
presentation to present this topic to their desired audience with the use of muslim people discussing
their experiences of being a muslim in the U.S by answering certain questions aimed towards them.

Examples Of Accounting Firms Showing Signs Of Economic Growth
Accounting Firms Showing Signs of Economic Growth
Although accounting has often been described as a profession and industry that is fairly recessionary
proof, is that really true? For the foreseeable future, individuals and businesses still need CPAs and
accountants to prepare and file tax. Companies still require audits. The consulting and advisory
services many accountants specialize in will continue to be in demand. If everyone, seemingly, needs
an accountant, then the industry hasn t suffered . . . has it? Accounting firms are a good barometer for
the US economy. You probably noticed during the last several years that revenues at some of the

American Dream. Our class for the past couple weeks has been focusing on this idea to see if it was
really what everyone thought it was. We have talked about books, articles, and songs that give an
outline of the American Dream, also we have been talking about several topics that relate to the

As a class we read John Winthrop s City Upon a Hill. In this reading Winthrop says For wee must
consider that wee shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us (Winthrop). This is a
great example on how we think the rest of the world views us because of the fact that we put ourselves
on a pedestal that is higher than any other country. Our country tries to do things in a big way do other
countries notice us. From 1947 to 1989 the U.S had made great strides that would change our nation.
One of these events was the Cold War, which was fought between the U.S.A and the USSR. The war
led the two nations to start a technology war called the Space Race. This race would begin in 1957
when the USSR put the first artificial satellite to produce signals from space ( The space race), in the
same year they were able to put the first organism in space. Following these events the U.S was finally
able to put their first satellite into space in 1958 but for the next ten years the USSR was able to do
four more missions that consisted of first man made object to reach the moon, first living organism to
return to earth, first craft to orbit earth and first photos of the far side of the moon. Even though the
U.S was falling behind in 1969 they did something that the USSR could not accomplish,

The Character Of Billy s The Landlady
The Landlady
Even though the gruesome, ghastly and demonic story known as The Landlady ends in a disturbing
way, it portrays many characteristics about the protagonist, Billy. There are numerous ways to
characterize Billy, a 17 year old kid on his first business trip in the strange city of Bath, England. Billy
begins his journey to a hotel known as the Bell and Dragon but stumbles to a halt when he sees a
seemingly cozy bed and breakfast that catches his eye. For a few pages everything seems great;
unfortunately for Billy, he has some flaws which ultimately lead to his shocking death at the hands of
a demented landlady. These are curiosity, a tendency to miss important clues, and gullibility.
The gullible nature of Billy Weaver is quite interesting as he does not show any sign of stupidity, but
his gullible state got the best of him. There are numerous reasons to portray the nature of Billy as
abnormal. The first sign shown by Billy is when he figures out the cost of staying at the Bed and
Breakfast for a night. In the passage, it states Five and sixpence a night, including breakfast (Dahl 2).
He subsequently says it was fantastically cheap (Dahl 2). but he never thought of the consequences he
would face or think why it was so cheap, as many places would charge twice as much. This shows his
gullible state of mind at the extremes. Billy Weaver finally asks about how this cheap of a place did
not get lots of customers and she answered: I m inclined to be

The Impact Of European Imperialism
Between the period of 1870 and 1914, European powers was at an all time high. The European powers
shifted from being land based empires to sea based empires. Land based empires were typically short
lived, unstable and had limited power. While the new transition of sea based empires according to
class notes, shaped the modern world s network of long distance trade. European powers switching to
sea based empires caused major growth, such as global trade and the New Imperialism . Coming from
this new entry was the Industrial Revolution, which according to John Hobson s, Imperialism caused
mass production, development of communication and transportation, economic surplus and global
trade . This was the start of major imperial growth between European Powers. European powers
started to realize that they had the power to expand their empire globally and take over undeveloped
markets. In the 19th century before the war, nationalism and imperialism was extremely important to
European Powers. European Powers realized they had the power to go from imperialism to direct
colonialism, where they could gain control over other territories.
Prior to the war European Powers were rising, and becoming more powerful. While some Europeans
such as futurist, welcomed the idea of war, others plotted how their imperial nations could best
succeed in a war to come (Mangin,1910,52) . European powers started to believe that having another
war would benefit them. In the 19th century this was the

Ten Commandments Vs Beatitudes
The average person tries to follow a set of beliefs, an above average person follows a set of beliefs.
Tons of people argue whether the Ten Commandments or the Beatitudes should be followed. The Ten
Commandments can only be viewed one way. The Beatitudes seem vague and can be construed in a
multitude of different ways. Then Ten Commandments demonstrate simplicity, whereas the Beatitudes
look complex and confusing, ergo cultures should follow the Ten Commandments over the Beatitudes.
In all honesty the Beatitudes seem to confuse people. The ideas that Jesus tried to get across can be
easily lost in translation. As Matthew 5:3 reads Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven. This rule seems unclear and would be misconstrued ... Show more content on

Cultures and groups of people that pursue different lifestyles tend to disagree with each other. If these
people would follow one set of rules they would always be able to go back their set of beliefs, the Ten
Commandments, and resolve the issue based on their rules. The Ten Commandments make sense and
they supersede the Beatitudes. If a group of twenty people viewed the Ten Commandments with no
bias, they would all come to the same conclusion. If that same group looked at the Beatitudes with no
bias, they would come to a plethora of conclusions. In comparison, the Ten Commandments prevail as
rules while the Beatitudes remain suggestive and perplexing. To adduce the Ten Commandments even
further a culture could inspect the contrast between a few of the Commandments and the Beatitudes.
Exodus 20:8 reads Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy, and Matthew 5:6 reads Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. When an individual reads
the line from the Ten Commandments they know exactly what they need to do. Simply do not forget
about the Sabbath. When looking at the Beatitudes, that individual would draw several outcomes.
These two rules share a similar thought, the idea that being righteous will lead to eternal life. But, the
Ten Commandments states this in a more translucent way than the

Harris left off and introduced the true meaning of the plant symbol, after giving the meaning of the

Debt Ratio And Total Debt
Debt Ratio also known as the total debt ratio which is (total assets total equity)/(total assets). The Debt
Ratio looks at all debts to all creditors. Debt to Equity Ratio is the total debt/ total equity. This looks at
the long term solvency measure to look at long term ability for the firm to pay its bills. The debt to
equity ratio is calculated by dividing total liabilities by total equity. The debt to equity ratio is
considered a balance sheet ratio because all of the elements are reported on the balance sheet. The debt
to equity ratio for 2010 was 1.6455% and for 2009 1.289%. A debt to equity ratio of 1 would mean
that investors and creditors have an equal stake in the business assets. This means that there may be a
lack of performance for the reason why there ratio is close to 1.
The total asset turnover ratio calculates net sales as a percentage of assets to show how many sales are
generated from each dollar of company assets. The total asset turnover ratio is a general efficiency
ratio that measures how efficiently a company uses all of its assets. This gives investors and creditors
an idea of how a company is managed and uses its assets to produce products and sales. Sometimes
investors also want to see how companies use more specific assets like fixed assets and current assets.

Qualitative Research Appraisal
According to Schneider, Elliot, LoBiondo Wood Haber (2004), qualitative research methods, search
for the meaning and understanding of human experiences in a naturalistic setting. A researcher obtains
subjective facts in order to explore the experiences of each participant (Schneider, Elliot, LoBiondo
Wood Haber 2004). As a result, qualitative research is a means in which a researcher gains an insight
into the participant s point of view concerning their personal experiences; in order gain an
understanding of the information given. Therefore this allows a researcher to collect subjective
information to create a description of the phenomenon (Vishnevsky Beanlands 2004).
Qualitative research is a foundation of information, which can ... Show more content on

For example, a grounded theory study by Spinewine, Swine, Dhillon, Franklin, Tulkens, Wilmotte
Lorant (2005), was conducted to uncover appropriateness of use of medicines in elderly inpatients.
The researchers found that nursing staff, pharmacists and geriatricians agreed that prescribing of
medications and counselling of patients was insufficient and the data that was shared with the medical
officer upon discharge was not adequate. Grounded theory focuses on a group, not individuals and is
larger than ethnographic and phenomenological methods.
There are strengths and weaknesses within each qualitative methodology. Qualitative research within
the nursing environment deals with people / patients feelings, beliefs, cultures and past experiences.
The strengths that come from dealing with the above are an increased empathy of nurses towards their
patient s holistic care (Schneider et al 2004). Weakness found within qualitative research according to
Schneider et al (2004) can be linked to poor research questions, inappropriate method used, inaccurate
data collection and analysis.

The Legality Of Conversion Therapy
The Legality of Conversion Therapy
The issues surrounding sexuality and gender nonconforming individuals in the United States have
played an increasingly large role in modern politics since the mid 20th century. These issues,
commonly referred to LGBT rights, directly affect the lives of a vast number of American citizens
and, as such, any legislation addressing these issues is public policy. The growing demand for equality
among the LGBT community has resulted in a number of Supreme Court cases and legislation
addressing commonly debated issues such as marriage and employment discrimination. Though these
particular issues have received attention from Congress, there are still other problems within the

Conversion therapy was deemed unethical by both the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and
the American Psychological Association. The APA, world s largest professional psychiatric
organization and publisher of the DSM, confirmed that the potential risks of conversion therapy are
great, including depression, anxiety and self destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with
societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self hatred already experienced by the patient.
(Psychiatry.org) These claims were made evident to the public in the recent suicide of a transgender
girl named Leelah Alcorn. Leelah, whose gender identity was rejected by her heavily religious parents,
noted conversion therapy sessions as a catalyst in her mental decline, which ultimately lead to her
untimely death (Fox).
Supporters of conversion therapy argue that, like all other therapies, participation is voluntary and an
individual should not be restricted from seeking it. This argument ignores the fact that many minors
are sent conversion therapy against their will. This was the basis for the 2012 lawsuit Pickup v.
Brown, in which the plaintiff, a conversion therapist, argued that the California ban on conversion
therapy for minors violated an individual s First Amendment right, among others (Pickup). A
unanimous decision upheld the ban, citing the 1979

Similarities Between Rap And Country Music
Music is a huge influence on many people. Rap and country music are two very popular genres of
music. There are many common stereotypes that people associate with them. Both types of music are
often disliked by people for various reasons. Rap music is often seen as gang related and full of
violence. People think it is a negative influence. Country music is often seen as redneck or hillbilly
music. Many people don t like country music because they say it is not their type. Country is seen as
much more positive. Rap and country music are two totally different styles of music and have many
differences. They have a very different audience, singers, styles of music, and music videos they use
for their songs. One big difference between rap and country music is the audience. Usually when a rap
concert begins, the audience arrives minutes before it starts. There is no party before or get together.
Rap music appeals to a younger audience. Rap is popular among many teenagers and young adults.
There usually aren t many older people that listen to rap music or would attend a rap concert. Rap
usually attracts an audience made up of many races. The audience consists of whites, African
Americans, Hispanics, and many other races. It is not targeted to one race over the others. Country
concerts are known for having tailgate parties hours before the concert begins. People get together and

students feel so tremendously overwhelmed they walk through the day blind and just hoping things
work out (Fisher). Students lack the ability to focus and manage everything that is piled on them
during class. The term helicopter parenting was first common in the 1990 s, but was first used in 1969.
Now, forty seven years later, helicopter parenting has become prevalent in college students lives and
the culture around people. A helicopter parent is one who takes an overprotective or excessive interest
in the life of their child or children. Helicopter parenting does not start out randomly as a college
student; helicopter parenting is a process that develops results.
The helicopter parent issue is prevalent to many people. People from Doctor Amy Joyce to stay at
home mom Jamie Porter have done studies to explain the effects of helicopter parenting. Psychologists
such as Chris Meno have done research and testings to collect data on helicopter parented children.
The issue of helicopter parenting is not just concerning children; it is concerning people across the
country.
President of Frostburg State University told Amy Joyce parents have called him to settle a dispute
between their child and their roommate. Joyce explains in her piece How Helicopter Parents Are

Why Was Abraham Lincoln A Bad President
Abraham Lincoln was the best president ever, there is no doubt about it that he wasn t a bad president.
There are plenty of reasons to list Abraham Lincoln as a great president. Anyone could list 5 reasons
why Abraham Lincoln was such a good president, like fighting in the Civil War, the Emancipation
Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, working young, and doing his mom s clothes.
Lincoln s early life had less than a year of education, but he was still a very smart man. Abraham
Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin in Kentucky. Abe didn t grow up as an only
child. He had a brother named Thomas Lincoln Jr., and a sister named Sarah Lincoln. Sadly, Sarah
died at the age of 18 giving birth to a baby that also died. Abraham had a dad and a mom. His mom s
name was Nancy Lincoln who died at 34 when she got milk sickness from a cow. His dad s name was
Thomas Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln moved three times. They first moved to a another log cabin in
Kentucky that wasn t that far from their old house. Abraham was only a toddler when his family
packed their bags and moved. Then, they moved to Indiana in 1816 because Indiana was about to join
the Union and become a state. Later, in Abraham s life, he moved to Springfield, IL where he lived the
rest of his life until he went to the White House. Abraham Lincoln s ... Show more content on

The geographic focus of Fantastic Golf has been very successful in the Southern and eastern portions
of Sweden and our product line are golf balls
Introduction
The product that we have chosen to produce and sell is golf balls. We will produce a top of the line
golf ball that will travel further than the average ball. Our goal is to produce a top of the line golf ball,
which is created by cutting edge technology that will last longer and travel further than the average
golf ball. The name of our golf balls is 2 Long. Our balls will be sold per sleeve (3 to a sleeve), per
dozen and per case. The country that we have chosen to market our product in is Sweden. Sweden was
largely unknown as a golfing destination many years ago but, thanks to a number of reasons, has
turned the corner from its underachiever status to world beater. Annika Sorenstam put Swedish and
ladies golf on the map when she became the first woman in more than 50 years to feature in a PGA
Tour event against the men in the Bank of America Colonial. But it doesn t stop there, add Ulrik
Johansson and Jesper Parnevik from the men s game to Catrin Nilsmark and Carin Koch from the
ladies game, and you have a country that has produced more than its fair share of talented golfers.
Golfing in Sweden is both a pleasure and an eye opener. The first Swedish golf club, Gothenburg, was
founded in 1902 and was quickly followed two

Sling Blade Essay
Sling Blade
Film directed by and screen play by Billy Bob Thornton.
Theme
Sling Blade s main theme is the redemption of Karl s lost childhood. Karl Childer s overly religious
parents believed he was a punishment from God. They severely abused him, treated him like an
animal, and forced him to live in a shed in solitude. Everyone in town picked on him and called him
names. He was seen as a retard or slower than others. He had little to call his own. His only
possessions were a Bible and several books on Christmas and carpentry. Karl was taught the Bible as a
child, but it wasn t really the Bible. The stories they told him were not in the Bible. His parents had
made up their own stories and had led him astray on the rights and wrongs ... Show more content on

Through a deadly crime, Karl freed his young friend from a life of pain and despair, only to end up
back where he began at the nut house . The choice of right or wrong seemed to make good and evil
equal.
The main point of Sling Blade was to convey the message that sometimes wrong can be right.
Symbolically, killing with the switchblade represents for cutting away the troubles that get in the way.
Sling Blade was a subjective film. It seduces the audience to emphasize with Frank and Karl and think
the way the director wants.
Elements
The first element I found that supported the theme was the script. The actors dialogues shaped the
characters roles. Karl adopted a new dialect. He picked up a backwoods, disturbed, monotone,
punctuated by a throaty um hmmm . Karl s dialogue showed that he spoke in a simple way. He
avoided complicated, fancy language. He spoke like a child, slow and easy, while the others in the
movie indicated more education through their speaking. Karl explained the way he was treated as a
child, his love for Frank, and his fear of Doyle. His moments of silence revealed his reflection, his
caged up behavior, and his childlike manner. Karl s words shaped him as gentle and to the point. Karl
told Frank s mamma she s good for Frank. He let people know their worth. At the end Karl stated, the
world was too big . He

The Current Information Security Landscape Of Small...
Small businesses form a critical part of the economy and play a key role in the creation of jobs and
improving the livelihoods of many individuals in the society. However, in the advancement of
technology and the use of information systems by these businesses, there has grown a threat to the
continued successful operations of these businesses due to the threat of cyber attacks. This paper will
focus on researching on the current information security landscape of small businesses, specifically in
cloud computing and social networking. The paper will also make a discussion of the potential
consequences of not implementing security practices, show the common threats that are associated
with small businesses and finally describe the strategies that will provide assurance in information
security for small businesses.
Current information security landscape of small businesses
Small businesses are currently faced by contradicting opportunities and challenges. On one hand,
there is the growth and advancement in cloud computing and social media marketing which present an
excellent opportunity for small enterprises to market themselves and deliver high quality services to
their customers. On the other hand, the growth in these sectors have presented very big challenges in
the form of the information systems security of those companies that use them and information

The Phenomenon Of Stereotypes
The phenomenon of superheroes has been around for many years, and often features many examples
of strength, courage, bravery and power. Their popularity among society has led to many studies in
which academia examines the portrayals of these heroines and the impact that they have through
media on children and society today. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of
gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. However, others also
argue that there are exceptions and that constant advocacy and knowledge of gender misrepresentation
and stereotypes among media can account for change. These different arguments can be seen through
a number of pieces including, Sexed Up Starfire Doesn t Sit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples
of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering
gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body
images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women.
Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan
series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference
to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes
on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the
sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her
daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not
talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to
discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully
dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model.
She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s
article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that
the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This
notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in
a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which
can be negative. Lee s daughter is

The Developing Of New York City
The Developing of New York City
New York City was founded in 1624, when the Dutch first settled along the Hudson river. Then about
two years later, they established the colony of New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island. By the 1650 s
there were about 1,000 people living in the area. Later on, in 1664 the English gained control of the
area and renamed it, New York. New Amsterdam was renamed New York to honor the Duke of York
and Albany, the brother of King Charles II.
New York, being one of the 13 colonies was definitely involved in the American Revolution (1775
1783). Some war sites during the revolution include; St. Paul s Chapel, Federal Hall national museum,
Fraunces Tavern Museum, Fort Tryon Park, Green Wood Cemetery and many more. By the end of the
war, NYC was the British base of command until it was over. During this time the population was
approximately 25,000 people. These people include: English, Scots, Scots Irish, Germans, Dutch,
French, Spanish, and Puritans, they were all part of the first wave of immigration. Immigrants got here
by boat because planes hadn t been invented yet. To travel once they got to the city they either took
the horse and buggy or had to travel by foot. By 1800, there were about 60,000 people living in New
York City, it was still very rural at this time, but transportation and technology had improved
tremendously due to the Industrial Revolution. Immigrants such as the English, Scots, Scots Irish,

Food and Beverage Control Systems
Food and beverage control systems
Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining
establishment or catering company that you ll find in manufacturing operations.
What is a food and beverage control system?
A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or
catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant, enabling
them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides chefs with a
more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial considerations.

Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more
effectively.
Nutrition
More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering
companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a
competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example.
Recipe management
Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they
do not follow.
Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard
estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused
by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your
food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately
to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit.
When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are
made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be
invaluable for busy chefs.
Stock control and purchasing
Some food and beverage control systems give you the chance to inventory your food and create
purchase orders for more so you can maintain a minimum level of

What Are The Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And A...
The USA is supposedly a classless society, somewhere that dreams are hypothetically made and a
place in which anyone can create a living for themselves if they work hard enough. However in all
three texts there is evidence to suggest that this is not the case. The notion surrounding social
inequality is certainly clear to see in these three texts, and perhaps surprisingly, as is the fact that in
some areas it is affected by class systems, although this is not immediately obvious. All three texts
being written in the early 20th century are set during periods of supposed freedom and equality, and
all three writers use literature to challenge this idea. Hughes poetry focuses on racial inequality and

wealth as he is not exactly from a wealthy family himself, yet he says how he snobbishly repeats
them, which shows that perhaps the influence of the upper classes has impacted on his life, yet he still
differs from the true upper class as he, unlike them, recognises his pretentious ways.
Nick s idea of people assuming upper class children are being born with greater natural class is backed
up in Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire. One could assume that due to her wealth, Blanche is of
a higher social class, and in the play she believes this herself, however she also has other reasons,
similar to that in The Great Gatsby, for thinking this. She says We are French by extraction. Our first

she does not see descents of other nations in the same light. She is being very unfair towards Stanley

The U.S. has been dealing with issues the country s face such as national debt and also budget deficit
over many years. Money is not the problem when it comes to budget being squared away strategically.
There was a time when the budget became extremely high and implementing was brought about from
ideas of congress such as deficit control measures. Congress took it upon themselves in 1985 to make
many laws about national debt and budget deficit control measure. This brings me to a quote I read out
of the textbook, Between 1980 and 1993 budget deficits grew steadily in dollar terms, and the nation
debt tripled. Since 2003, the public debt has grown by more than $500 billion each year; as July 2012,
nominal U.S. GPD was $15,880 billion. (Amacher Pate, 2012)

The Conflict Of World Hunger
What is one of the major ethical food issue on modern American society? The simple answer is the
conflict of world hunger. Throughout the ages, this has been a problem looming over the world.
Millions have perished from this problem from all over the globe. It is a problem in large cities to the
vast deserts. World hunger can be solved however, mankind chooses not to solve it. The lack of
investment is also one of the many factors that contributes to world hunger. The market even has a
way of taking the viability of food away. Everyday citizens even play a large role in world hunger.
World hunger is caused by food being sold in select markets, lack of investment in agriculture, and the
constant waste of food.
The market of where a product is sold is one of the causes of food being unavailable due to market
demands. According to Frances Lappè, environmental activist, The hundreds of millions of people
who go hungry cannot create a sufficient market demand for the fruits of the Earth (Lappè 294).
Experts agree that there is a strong correlation between world hunger and money. According to other
experts, the current way of discussing and managing the world economy is not fit for purpose; it s
failing hundreds of millions now and is set to fail billions in the coming decades (Hobbs). Due to
capitalism money is extremely important in today s society because without money third world
consumers cannot purchase adequate food. First world consumers create inequality when a

What Is The Cause Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution
Many factors went into the starting the French Revolution. One of the main contributing factors was
the lack of a fair hierarchy in the French society. There were 3 main classes and only 3% of people
were inside of the top 2. This created a problem as the first 2 had twice the representation that the third
did in the government. The first Estate was made up of the clergy from the Roman Catholic Church.
They also owned almost 10% of the land inside of France. The Second Estate was the rich nobles.
They owned almost 20% of the land. Both of the classes paid almost no taxes and shot down almost
any ideas of the Enlightenment. The Third Estate American and French Revolutions. American and

They fled to Varennes, but were soon found and were taken back to Paris as crowds jeered at them.
France then found themselves at war with Austria and Prussia. This was not what France needed in
this time of civil unrest and a starved economy. In 1792 mobs in Paris attacked the Tuileries. They
were extremely unhappy and they stormed the Tuileries where the royal family was being held. They
wanted a new constitution and a convention instead of a national assembly. The Legislative assembly
soon began to dissolve away and was replaced by the National Convention. The National Convention
debated for 6 weeks on the execution of Louis XVI. On January 21st the king was sent to the
guillotine where he was beheaded. Then in 1794 the mastermind behind many of the actions that
occurred during the French Revolution Robespierre was set to be beheaded. He was accused of being

Ishmael And The Carpenter As A Life Buod
The imagery suggests that the mother, who is the carpenter, gives life to her child, the coffin. Ahab
referred to the carpenter as Prometheus, a titan, a silkworm spinning its own shroud out of itself
(Leiter 1958). This, I think is Melville s way of connecting the coffin s obvious meaning of death to
life. The carpenter as Prometheus symbolizes God who gives birth or in other words life to death. The
coffin then acts as a life buoy for Ishmael specifically, when it carries him over to safety at the end of
the novel. Ishmael and the coffin, both tossed up by the Pequod rigged out like a whale also like Job
by the Whale of God, become Prophets who deliver the message of God to the world (Leiter 1958). In
a way then, the coffin also symbolizes the universe, man, his life, and his death. It is a symbol of the
fate of man here on this earth. Ishmael is saved because he unlike Ahab, whose view of the condition
of man is so monolithic and pretty much insane has reached a state not only of understanding man s
role in the universe, but he has also achieved acceptance of that role. Wedded to Ishmael earlier in the
novel, Queequeg points the way to sanity, neither through destructive internal questioning, nor
through acceptance of religious prophecies, but by what he is. After meeting his other half in Peter
Coffin s inn, which is decked out like a whale, Ishmael says, As I sat there in that lonely room...I

Summary Of A Sick Day For Amos Mcgee

ENGL 3401 002
25 September 2017
A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead A Sick Day for Amos McGee is about a friendly
zookeeper, who always goes to the zoo, on the number five bus every day to make time for his friends,
which are the elephant, the tortoise, the penguin, the rhinoceros, and the owl. He plays chess with the
elephant, runs races with the tortoise, sits with the penguin, always gives his handkerchief to the
rhinoceros, and reads to the owl. Then, one day the zookeeper gets sick and he is not able to go to the
zoo to his friends. So, his friends left the zoo on the number five bus and visited his best friend at
home to make him feel better. A Sick day for Amos McGee won the Caldecott Medal in 2011 for the
illustrations that were done by Erin E. Stead, who is the wife of the author, Philip C. Stead. She made
a speech on her winning, saying A picture book allows a child ownership of art even if it s just for the
two weeks they check it out of the library. That book is theirs. I m not sure any other art for replicates
that feeling. She is right, every picture book that a person picks up, buys, or checks out is a piece of art
because all picture book illustrations are different and unique.
Illustrations in pictures are meant to make the use of the book for entertainment. The illustrations that
Erin C. Stead uses in her all of her books are woodblock or also known as woodcut printing and then
she draws on the top of the prints in pencil to finish the illustration. This type of illustration was used
in A Sick Day for Amos McGee. Woodblock printing is a technique that is used to print text, images or
patterns. In an interview talking about the illustrations in her and her husband s book, with MacMillan
Children s on YouTube, the colors that are in the book are stamped onto the page by a piece of wood.
She carves each piece of wood into each of the animals that are in the book. After she does that, she
rolls the paint onto the piece of wood and presses it to the paper. The colors that the illustrator s use
was blue, yellow, green, gray/black, orange, red, brown, and white. Red, yellow, and oranges, are
colors used to make the book suggest it has warmth, cheerfulness,

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
According to the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the people have to cut
about 90% of the use of fossil fuels worldwide to have a slim chance of stopping Global Warming. If
the people have anything less than the percentage given, Global Warming will not stop. As of now
Global Warming is a big issue throughout the world. Some say Global Warming is just a myth to scare
people and it s just a natural cause, but there is proof that Global Warming is a fact and that the main
cause of Global Warming is anthropogenic causes or man made. Man has overused the burning of
fossil fuels throughout generations and the numbers of burning fossil fuels keeps getting higher every
year. The increase of temperatures, sea levels, and carbon dioxide in the last century shows evidence
that Global Warming is occurring and man is the main problem. First of all, what is global warming?
Global warming is the increase of Earth s temperature due to carbon dioxide emissions from burning
fossil fuels also known as greenhouse gases (Global Warming). The carbon dioxide traps heat which
would make the temperature to rise, this is known as the greenhouse effect. The main causes of global
warming would have to be carbon dioxide and air pollution that is going around the atmosphere,
trapping the sun s heat which causes the earth to warm up. Human activity has been a key factor to
that. The burning of fossil fuels causes a lot more greenhouse gases to be trapped in the

Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay
Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they were
only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the nature of the
pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate, in the tragedy
Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager between God and
Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless of personal choice, is
bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of choice in the midst of
supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to the will of God, they each

/ Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and fated
endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from God,
differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal choices
of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with Job s fate
of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God makes example of
Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s preferential treatment.
Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
(40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test. Job s life and finally health are
viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not know the reasons behind his great
suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did
not Job sin with his lips. (41). Self pity creeps into Job s thoughts and words, but there is no
disenchanted turn from God. Instead in Job the reader sees a turn to God for relief and

Figurative Language In Under The Feet Of Jesus
In Helena Maria Viramontes Under the Feet of Jesus, a young girl struggles to find importance and
meaning in anything that she does or is wanting to do. Additionally, her not being able to understand
the language of this country, she struggles to understand and find meaning to things she does not yet
understand. The protagonists character begins to slowly comprehend and unearth meaning in a simple
tool box, which is a mere representation of herself; as she then tries to learn new things, causing her
character to grow significantly. The author uses a strong selection of detail, figurative language and
macaronic language in order to show the growth of Estrella s character. Throughout the poem, since
the very beginning the author uses selection of detail in order to describe Estrella s character as she
simply has no care in the world for trying to make an effort towards learning. As one begins to read,
we are informed that Estrella hated when things were kept from her. Estrella does not like things being
kept from her because she cannot and does not understand what these things are. Estrella has a
growing hatred towards the thing which she could not understand, in this case it was a simple red tool
chest which belonged to Perfecto. As Estrella begins to look through Perfecto s tool box, she is quite
perplexed by the funny shaped objects, seemed as confusing and foreign as the alphabet she could to
decipher. Estrella s encounter with the tool box makes her very

Reflection Of Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans is a movie about a football team, but it was not as a simple as it seemed. The
year is 1971, a high school in Alexandria, Virginia becomes integrated. Bringing together many
talented athletes. This movie is lead by two coach s, Coach Boone (Denzel Washington), and Coach
Yoast (Will Patton). Before the school was integrated Coach Yoast who is white was the head coach.
After the integration Coach Boone was given the title head coach. Yoast does not want that to happen,
and Boone does not agree on it either. He has respect for him, but understands he has a job to do. With
this happening Coach Boone is the first black coach of an integrated school. The thing was Coach
Yoast has his players and Coach Boone has is. They both new the challenge of bringing them together
was going to be difficult. When Yoast tells his white players they do not want to play for a black
coach. It seems completely unreasonable, but during this time racism was a big problem. He did not
want his players to lose their scholarships so he accepts the title of assistant coach. All of the players
were very talented but as a team they were nothing. They weren t working together at all, because they
both had too much of an ego and did not want to work together. So the whole team was sent to
football camp, but the point of this camp was to make them play as a team. Of course they went to
improve their skills, but the main reason was to build a bond between the players. They headed to

According to Wikipedia: * Entrepreneur: is an enterprising individual who builds capital through risk
and/or initiative. This term first appeared in the French Dictionary Dictionnaire Universal de
Commerce . Entrepreneur in English is a term applied to a person who is willing to help launch a new
venture or enterprise and accept full responsibility for the outcome. In Greece we use the term
επιχειρηματίας (businessman), as a translation to entrepreneur, to describe a person who run a
company, small or big, in his own and he has the responsibility for every decision. Otherwise we are
talking for an employee and his position/title in his company, either he is a low level employee or a
senior executive. * Mamager: is a person who gets people together to accomplish desired goals and
objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. The act of management comprises
planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization( a group of one or
more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses
the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial resources, technological resources and
natural resources. Since organizations can be viewed as systems, management can also be defined as
human action, including design, to

International Law And National Law
W101: An Introduction to Law
Tutor Marked Assessment TMA01
Question 1 (300)
Explain the difference between:
a. international law and national law
Their principal differences are in their scope and their intended subjects. International law governs the
relationships that states have with each other and international institutions, whereas national law
applies within a nation. International law gains its force from agreements made between states and
customs and practices that have been followed by states over time, whereas national law is imposed by
state actors. (The Open University, 2014)
b. statute law and common law
Common law as a term can indicate a source of law also called case law, and the system of law which
includes it as a source. (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2014). In the sense of common law as a
source of law, it can be contrasted with statute law. Common law is a body of law based on court
judgements and precedent, whereas statute law originates in formal written acts by a legislature such
as Acts of Parliament (The Open University, 2014). In common law systems, judicial decisions
interpret previous analogous cases and relate them to the case at hand. Typically where there are
conflicts, statute takes precedence over common law as it is the creation of the democratic process
rather than judicial decisions and customs.
c. public law and private law
Public law governs the relationships between private individuals and institutions and the state,
whereas private

Linked Data On The World Wide Web Essay
Linked data is the process of utilizing and sharing individual data on the World Wide Web. It is more
specific than just uploading a large file to the Internet to be shared. Linking data gives very specific
information about all of the components of a document, not just a complete file. By utilizing this
process researchers can collect data more easily about similar topics without having to read large
documents of information. By linking this information in computer readable data format, this data can
be easily searched for on the web. This data becomes easily searchable on the web and can be found
and used with current library information. This machine readable information can be read by
computers and does not have to rely upon the human eye to read and understand the data. This process
will limit human error and produce information quicker and better than ever.
Linked Data in Libraries In recent years, the area of linked data has become a topic that many in the
library field have spent more time and effort pursuing. For many of us, searching the Internet has
become a daily event, and finding information has become a much easier task with the use of the
World Wide Web (Corbett, 2016). Libraries are going through a period of transition and change and
must keep up with the expectations of its users. The future role of libraries must mold into what is
needed to meet new service needs (Wallis, 2015). It is very important that more academic information

Accidental Death of an Anarchist
Q) Critically analyze the Figure of Madman in Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death of an anarchist.
A) Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death of an Anarchist (1970) lies in the category of revolutionary
theatre that challenges the fascist regime of Italy. The play is a farce based on events involving a real
person, Giuseppe Pinelli, who fell or was thrown from the fourth floor window of a Milan police
station in 1969. He was accused of bombing a bank. The accusation is widely seen as part of the
Italian Far Right s strategy of tension. Just like Fo s other play, this play is also funny and subversive
and shows a strong preference for the culture and traditions of the ordinary people and a commitment
to the left wing politics. The play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He provides most of the humor content of the play. The madman is whimsical and he constantly
contradicts other characters as well as himself. His series of logical/illogical arguments becomes
impossible to tackle and it frustrates the Police Department. Even though being termed as
psychologically unfit, the madman appears to be the most intelligent character in the play. He ridicules
the police officials for missing out on the basic concepts of English grammar and the use of the most
important COMMA that changes the meaning of a sentence. He dictates the terms of law and judiciary
to police officials. He is extremely sarcastic. He ridicules the superintendent for assuming the railway
man planted the bomb in railway station without any substantiate evidence and sarcastically rebukes
the kindergarten logic .
The people in power appear to be inhuman and brute in their actions, and the sacred governmental
place, the police station appears to be a madhouse or a slaughterhouse. The madman, even though he
is mad appears to be the sanest character in the play. In fact, he appears to be directing the play
according to his wishes. Suffering from a disease

The various assignments that were asked to be produced exceptionally strengthened my overall writing abilities. The idea of writing creatively within narratives and analyzing different stories or commercials expanded the way can express my multi modal writing. My skills within all of these areas are still under progress, but with the constant practice, I am confident that these skills will continue to grow. Our first assignment was to compose the diagnostic essay. The essay was created to showcase our strengths and weaknesses. Understanding my strengths and weaknesses came as a difficulty because in high school we were never asked to explore these traits within ourselves. While constructing this essay I had a hard time evaluating my own writing so I needed an external source. I had a friend look at my writing and point out my strengths and weaknesses. I then listed the pros and cons of my writing. Understanding the prompt has always been a stronghold of mine, I am able to fully comprehend the purpose of the assignment. Being able to fully understand the prompt has lead to stronger writing as I revisit the prompt and revise my papers. A sure weakness of mine was clear organization of thoughts. The rapid industrialization of the nation changed us from generally agrarian to the top industrial power in the world. Business tycoons thrived during this time, forging great business empires with the use of trusts and pools. Farmers moved to the cities and into the factories, living off wages and changing the face of the workforce. This rapid industrialization created wide gaps in society, and the government, which had originally taken a hands off approach to business, was forced to step in. Country Rock History COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres that were originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock and Roll s prism Country and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s relentless energy. The newfound genres, called Country Rock and Jazz Rock respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike, having a major impact that is still traceable in today s music. Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre approaches musical harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its rudimentary melodic approach, which in a majority of times is merely a backdrop for stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion, and, unsurprisingly, the aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is reached with the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating instrumental pieces exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their ultimate goals. This may lead to legal issues and barriers that can ultimately impact their health and well being. Language barriers are a huge problem among the immigrant and refugee community which leads to laws being broken without immigrants and refugees realizing that they are breaking the law. For example, in one s native country, bribing law enforcement may be acceptable, while in the United States, it is an offense which will result in arrest. Immigrants and refugees need to be taught this in a way that they can understand. Language barriers and lack of knowledge regarding the United States medical system are also problems among the immigrant and refugee population. Because of the language barrier, immigrants and refugees may feel embarrassed or uncomfortable going to the doctor which causes long term issues. • 8. Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures. From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians act more out of a notion of respect. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Billy begins his journey to a hotel known as the Bell and Dragon but stumbles to a halt when he sees a seemingly cozy bed and breakfast that catches his eye. For a few pages everything seems great; unfortunately for Billy, he has some flaws which ultimately lead to his shocking death at the hands of a demented landlady. These are curiosity, a tendency to miss important clues, and gullibility. The gullible nature of Billy Weaver is quite interesting as he does not show any sign of stupidity, but his gullible state got the best of him. There are numerous reasons to portray the nature of Billy as abnormal. The first sign shown by Billy is when he figures out the cost of staying at the Bed and Breakfast for a night. In the passage, it states Five and sixpence a night, including breakfast (Dahl 2). He subsequently says it was fantastically cheap (Dahl 2). but he never thought of the consequences he would face or think why it was so cheap, as many places would charge twice as much. Their popularity among society has led to many studies in which academia examines the portrayals of these heroines and the impact that they have through media on children and society today. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. However, others also argue that there are exceptions and that constant advocacy and knowledge of gender misrepresentation and stereotypes among media can account for change. Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women. Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model. She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which can be negative. Then about two years later, they established the colony of New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island. By the 1650 s there were about 1,000 people living in the area. Later on, in 1664 the English gained control of the area and renamed it, New York. New Amsterdam was renamed New York to honor the Duke of York and Albany, the brother of King Charles II. New York, being one of the 13 colonies was definitely involved in the American Revolution (1775 1783). Some war sites during the revolution include; St. Paul s Chapel, Federal Hall national museum, Fraunces Tavern Museum, Fort Tryon Park, Green Wood Cemetery and many more. By the end of the war, NYC was the British base of command until it was over. During this time the population was approximately 25,000 people. These people include: English, Scots, Scots Irish, Germans, Dutch, French, Spanish, and Puritans, they were all part of the first wave of immigration. What is a food and beverage control system? A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant, enabling them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides chefs with a more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial considerations. Nutrition More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example. Recipe management Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they do not follow. Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit. When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be invaluable for busy chefs. The USA is supposedly a classless society, somewhere that dreams are hypothetically made and a place in which anyone can create a living for themselves if they work hard enough. However in all three texts there is evidence to suggest that this is not the case. The notion surrounding social inequality is certainly clear to see in these three texts, and perhaps surprisingly, as is the fact that in some areas it is affected by class systems, although this is not immediately obvious. Nick s idea of people assuming upper class children are being born with greater natural class is backed up in Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire. One could assume that due to her wealth, Blanche is of a higher social class, and in the play she believes this herself, however she also has other reasons, similar to that in The Great Gatsby, for thinking this. There was a time when the budget became extremely high and implementing was brought about from ideas of congress such as deficit control measures. Throughout the ages, this has been a problem looming over the world. Millions have perished from this problem from all over the globe. It is a problem in large cities to the vast deserts. World hunger can be solved however, mankind chooses not to solve it. The lack of investment is also one of the many factors that contributes to world hunger. The market even has a way of taking the viability of food away. Everyday citizens even play a large role in world hunger. World hunger is caused by food being sold in select markets, lack of investment in agriculture, and the constant waste of food. The market of where a product is sold is one of the causes of food being unavailable due to market demands. According to Frances Lappè, environmental activist, The hundreds of millions of people who go hungry cannot create a sufficient market demand for the fruits of the Earth (Lappè 294). Experts agree that there is a strong correlation between world hunger and money. According to other experts, the current way of discussing and managing the world economy is not fit for purpose; it s failing hundreds of millions now and is set to fail billions in the coming decades (Hobbs). • 37. Ishmael And The Carpenter As A Life Buod The imagery suggests that the mother, who is the carpenter, gives life to her child, the coffin. Ahab referred to the carpenter as Prometheus, a titan, a silkworm spinning its own shroud out of itself (Leiter 1958). This, I think is Melville s way of connecting the coffin s obvious meaning of death to life. The carpenter as Prometheus symbolizes God who gives birth or in other words life to death. The coffin then acts as a life buoy for Ishmael specifically, when it carries him over to safety at the end of the novel. Ishmael and the coffin, both tossed up by the Pequod rigged out like a whale also like Job by the Whale of God, become Prophets who deliver the message of God to the world (Leiter 1958). In a way then, the coffin also symbolizes the universe, man, his life, and his death. It is a symbol of the fate of man here on this earth. Ishmael is saved because he unlike Ahab, whose view of the condition of man is so monolithic and pretty much insane has reached a state not only of understanding man s role in the universe, but he has also achieved acceptance of that role. Wedded to Ishmael earlier in the novel, Queequeg points the way to sanity, neither through destructive internal questioning, nor through acceptance of religious prophecies, but by what he is. Stead A Sick Day for Amos McGee is about a friendly zookeeper, who always goes to the zoo, on the number five bus every day to make time for his friends, which are the elephant, the tortoise, the penguin, the rhinoceros, and the owl. He plays chess with the elephant, runs races with the tortoise, sits with the penguin, always gives his handkerchief to the rhinoceros, and reads to the owl. Then, one day the zookeeper gets sick and he is not able to go to the zoo to his friends. So, his friends left the zoo on the number five bus and visited his best friend at home to make him feel better. A Sick day for Amos McGee won the Caldecott Medal in 2011 for the illustrations that were done by Erin E. Stead, who is the wife of the author, Philip C. Stead. She made a speech on her winning, saying A picture book allows a child ownership of art even if it s just for the two weeks they check it out of the library. That book is theirs. I m not sure any other art for replicates that feeling. She is right, every picture book that a person picks up, buys, or checks out is a piece of art because all picture book illustrations are different and unique. Illustrations in pictures are meant to make the use of the book for entertainment. The illustrations that Erin C. Stead uses in her all of her books are woodblock or also known as woodcut printing and then she draws on the top of the prints in pencil to finish the illustration. Global warming is the increase of Earth s temperature due to carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels also known as greenhouse gases (Global Warming). The carbon dioxide traps heat which would make the temperature to rise, this is known as the greenhouse effect. International Law And National Law W101: An Introduction to Law Tutor Marked Assessment TMA01 Question 1 (300) Explain the difference between: a. international law and national law Their principal differences are in their scope and their intended subjects. International law governs the relationships that states have with each other and international institutions, whereas national law applies within a nation. International law gains its force from agreements made between states and customs and practices that have been followed by states over time, whereas national law is imposed by state actors. (The Open University, 2014) b. statute law and common law Common law as a term can indicate a source of law also called case law, and the system of law which includes it as a source. (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2014). In the sense of common law as a source of law, it can be contrasted with statute law. Common law is a body of law based on court judgements and precedent, whereas statute law originates in formal written acts by a legislature such as Acts of Parliament (The Open University, 2014). In common law systems, judicial decisions interpret previous analogous cases and relate them to the case at hand. Typically where there are conflicts, statute takes precedence over common law as it is the creation of the democratic process rather than judicial decisions and customs. c. public law and private law Public law governs the relationships between private individuals and institutions and the state, whereas private ... It is more specific than just uploading a large file to the Internet to be shared. Linking data gives very specific information about all of the components of a document, not just a complete file. By utilizing this process researchers can collect data more easily about similar topics without having to read large documents of information. By linking this information in computer readable data format, this data can be easily searched for on the web. This data becomes easily searchable on the web and can be found and used with current library information. This machine readable information can be read by computers and does not have to rely upon the human eye to read and understand the data. This process will limit human error and produce information quicker and better than ever. Linked Data in Libraries In recent years, the area of linked data has become a topic that many in the library field have spent more time and effort pursuing.
