Introduction
Question one
Challenge one: Material Purchasing, Albatross Anchor has small storage that are located away from
the production area requiring smaller amounts of material to be order due to lack of storage.
Increasing storage will allow for larger amount of raw materials to be kept on hand and reduce the cost
associated with order multiple smaller batches of raw materials.
Challenge two: Inventory/Shipping: Shipping and receiving are sharing facilities due to one railroad
spur being available. The company is having problems producing enough products for the customers.
This lack of production cause large quantities of finished materials to be stored ... Show more content

Complication one
Cost of Production: Current manufacturing costs are $8.00 per pound for mushroom/bell anchors and
$11.00 per pound for snag hook anchors. Albatross Anchor charges the same per unit as their
competitors. However, the profit margin can sometimes be as much as 35% less (on some of the
anchors) because of operations inefficiencies. $8 per pound for mushroom/bell anchors $11 per pound
on for snag hook anchor
Complication two Economies of Scale in material purchasing: The firm is not able to realize
economies since they are not able to produce larger orders as easy. They are not able to meet capacity
utilization within the plant due to operational inefficiencies. They can only produce small batches.
Scale economies have brought down the unit costs of production and have fed through to lower prices
for consumers. Economies of scale are a key advantage for a business that is able to grow. Most firms
find that, as their production output increases, they can achieve lower costs per unit. Economies of
scale are the cost advantages that a business can exploit by expanding their scale of production. The
effect of economies of scale is to reduce the average (unit) costs of production.
Complication three
Cost of Raw Materials Sitting Idle in the Warehouse: The raw materials sit idle until they are ready to
ship out which leads to large cost of holding raw material in inventory.

Essay about Abraham Lincoln s Assassination
Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States was elected president on November 6 in
the year 1860. Not even on the South s ballot, Lincoln received 40% of the popular vote. As a strong
republican, Lincoln believed in the abolition of slavery. Lincoln became president in the highest
conflict between North and South in history and wanted to preserve the Union. He believed that the
South should not be punished after the Civil War because he thought that they had already been
punished enough from the war. Abraham Lincoln s lenient policies caused him to be hated by both the
North and the South. He believed that all should be treated with respect and wanted to find a
compromise between the feuding sides of the Civil War. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the War, the Confederates general was Robert E. Lee; the best general in the United States, and
the Union s main general was Ulysses S. Grant. After several Union victories, including those of
Vicksburg and Gettysburg in 1863, it became clear the North would win. On April 3 of 1865,
Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy since May of 1865, fell to the Union forces. Then, less than
a week later, General Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Courthouse, nearly ending the
war.
John Wilkes Booth became a professional actor at the age of seventeen (Reilly, 2012). During the
Civil War, he worked as a spy and smuggled medicine to the Confederates Reilly, 2012). Then, when
Richmond fell, Booth was crushed by the collapse of the rebellion and returned to Washington. Booth
believed that Abraham Lincoln would be not be re elected for his second term and became angry when
he was. Soon after, Booth attended Lincoln s second inaugural speech. After the speech Booth uttered
the words What an excellent chance I had, if I wished, to kill the President on Inauguration day!
(Swanson, 2006, p. 6). Shortly after the war, Lincoln gave a speech outlining his plans for peace and
reconstruction for the country. Upon hearing Lincoln s words, Booth muttered Now, by God I ll put

Allen Ginsberg s collection Howl and Other Poems is a collection of poems that exudes rebellion.

The Role Of B C Kitchen
Like all successful businesses, a well constructed team of members must have a plan on how it should
operate. Running a business takes time, dedication, effort, and commitment. Each member takes on
the challenge of completing different tasks, but in the end, they all come together as a whole to run the
business. Just like B C Kitchen, each member takes on a fundamental role behind the scenes to ensure
the success and liveliness of the restaurant. In any restaurant setting, the magic begins in the kitchen.
The kitchen is home to all the action packed cooking, frying, and the slicing and chopping of
ingredients. The leader, the commander in chief, and the boss, my father Jeffrey Ho performs the role

Due to the inviting aroma that surrounds the entirety of the restaurant, B C Kitchen has become a
place where friends become family. The manager and head waitress who created this promised quality,
my mother Katie Ho s position plays a significant part in the business. With her most enticing
presence, her prime responsibilities consist of serving and tending to customers needs while still
overseeing the entire front of the restaurant. As much as she already does, she also manages to
complete all the bookkeeping chores. Considering all of the numerous tasks my mother has to juggle
on a daily basis, her role of taking charge as manager and the head waitress is clearly irreplaceable.
Even though my parents and aunt have already constructed a full and equipped team, I also happen to
work alongside with them from time to time. As a member of the team, I commonly work in the front
as a waitress and in the kitchen with the responsibility of clean up. Given that I m able to assist both
the customers and the team behind the scene that runs it all, makes my position different from the
others. My role in the restaurant may not seem as glamorous, but I d like to think I provide as much as
the rest of my family does. In essence, my responsibility inhabits delivering extra help when

It seems to be a popular trend for big developers to branch off and make small and unique indie
games. From Ubisoft s Child of Light to Insomniac s Song of the Deep these games are immersive,
breathtaking, intimate and, mostly, well received. Most recently is Ready at Dawn s foray into indie
development: Deformers.
Before we dive into things I do want to let you know that I was given a copy of this game by the
developers. However that was just because they re nice, so this is not an ad nor is it #sponsored. And
for those of you who do not know about Ready at Dawn Studios here is a brief summary. The studio s

(Which is, of course, the way a car moves in the real world. I understand that.) However, if the ball
was behind me and the camera is focused on the ball, trying to control the car while maintaining focus
on the game usually left me in unusual positions. (Although Twitch streamers have proved to me that
practice makes OP.) In Deformers the Form that you control has full eight axis controls. So you can
move in any which way your heart desires. You can strafe in front of the goal to mimic a goalie or
charge head first at the enemy like a Berserker from Gears of War to knock the ball from their derpy
grip. And if all else fails, you can shoot them. That s right. This is street soccer and the only rule is that
there is no rule. (Other than the fact that you have to score in the enemy s net but...you knew that.)
After playing the game for a little over an hour I have to say that it is super fun. On my third game of
Form Ball I could already imagine myself losing hours to the game. Plus, having gotten a hold of the
game this early into it s life cycle (something that cannot be said for Rocket League which I adopted
to very late) I have plenty of time to carve out my spot in the Leaderboards. So why haven t I spent
said hours on it yet? Well that brings me to the biggest problem with Deformers. The thing that holds
the game back the most. It s...the game itself. After the aforementioned third Form Ball game the
players in my lobby left and I followed suite before attempting to

Short Essay On Bedbugs
Bedbugs may be little creatures but they are great hitchhikers, very much capable of moving from one
infected site to another. They secretly hide on bedding, clothing, boxes, luggage, and furniture. But if
you really want to sleep like a baby at night and not undergo another bed bug war, here are some tips
to keep the little bloodsuckers out of your bed and hopefully out of your house too.
1. Make Sure that Your Bed Frame Has Feet
One of the most important things that you need to do is to ensure that your bed has feet. If it currently
doesn t have feet, you can always go to a nearby home store and purchase an affordable and simple
bed frame. Believe it or not, your bed frame will serve an important part in bedbug proofing your bed.
2. Put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the purpose why having a bed frame is suggested. The bed bugs may attempt to get inside the
bed bug coasters but will end up being trapped inside. Once the bedbugs are inside, they can no longer
climb up the bed frame. Choose the bed bug coasters that contain compartments because you can track
where bed bugs are coming from or how they go up from the ground and hide under the sheets.
3. If Possible, Move Your Bed Away from Walls or Furniture
This tip is not always possible for every homeowner as some are living in a small space. So,
depending on the size of your room, you can opt to position your bed away from the wall or the
furniture. If you can also put it away from anything that touches the bed, it would be much better. The
reason is simple: these walls or furniture linked to the bed is giving bed bugs a way to cross and reach
your bed while you are sleeping, which of course spells nightmares.
You can keep the bed at least one foot away. Also, bed bugs are not really capable of jumping from the
wall to your bed. So, even if the gap is just one inch, it would also be okay as long as your bed covers
do not also touch the furniture or wall around the bed.
4. Don t Let the Bed Cover Touch the Floor or

Training Managers to Motivate Employees
Abstract There are a variety of management styles in the field of training and development. With there
being so many styles, can training help managers adopt a more autonomy supportive motivating style
toward employees. Will the employees of these managers in turn show a greater workplace
engagement? Research shows managers that participate in training, have a more significantly
supportive management style. This paper will discuss the managers motivating styles and the benefits
to employees when managers become more autonomy supportive.
One of the most challenging parts of a manager s job is the managerial effort to support employees
motivation. A key determinant of how effectively a manager nurtures and supports employees ... Show

Autonomous motivation is self authored and personally endorsed as one s own (Ryan Deci, 2000).
There are two types of autonomous motivation that are associated with employees functioning,
intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. Intrinsic motivation involves employees engaging in an
activity because they find it interesting and satisfying. They usually express this with comments like, I
enjoy what I do. The other type of autonomous motivation is identified regulation. This involves
identifying with the activity performed and the time spent seems important and worth the effort. Most
employees express identified regulation through comments as, The work I do is important to me.
Controlled motivation is that which is pressure based and imposed by forces (i.e. people, rewards,
deadlines) outside the person (Ryan Deci, 2000). A type of controlled motivation is external
regulation. This involves employees doing an activity because they expect to gain an external
contingency to do so. The motivation is externally controlled because the employees are energized
into to working by incentives and to avoid consequences. If the incentives are not present and the
consequences are absent, the employees are not motivated to do action. These people can be often
heard expressing themselves such as, I work because the boss is watching. Many managers agree that
motivation is important and that the quality of employees motivation is important,

Theories Of Emotional Intelligence
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
INTRODUCTION
Emotional intelligence has to do with an individual s ability to understand and manage his or her own
or others feelings and emotions. It involves the ability to perceive and express emotion, assimilate
emotion in thought, understand and reason about emotion and manage emotions in oneself and in
others. People with emotional intelligence are able to identify and recognize the meaning of emotions
and to manage and regulate their emotions as a basis for problem solving, reasoning, thinking, and
action.
In this write up, attempt is made to provide conceptual clarifications on the subject matter, Emotional
intelligence , an overview of the theories of emotional intelligence, including a brief discussion about
how important the role of emotional intelligence can be in leadership, performance (both educational
and work place settings) and in wellbeing.

Emotional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To some persons, emotional intelligence is defined as study which looks for human cognitive abilities
beyond traditional academic intelligence, (Zeidner et al., 2004). Researchers have categorized their
definition based on the either an ability model or mixed model. Based on the Mandell and Phewanti
(2003) s ability model, emotional intelligence is defined as a set of abilities that involves perceiving
and reasoning abstractly with information that emerges from feelings (p. 389). Studies of John D.
Mayer and Peter Salovey (1997) have supported this model stating that emotional intelligence is
defined as the ability to perceive accurately, appraise, and express emotion; the ability to access and/or
generate feelings when they facilitate thought; the ability to understand emotion and emotional
knowledge; and the ability to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth (p. 35).
In addition, Mayer, Salovey, and Caruso (2004) gave the definition of the emotional intelligence as the
capacity to

The Race For K 12 Public Education Reform
Teacher compensation is one of many hot button issues in the race for K 12 public education reform in
America. Google (2015), defines compensation as simply the money received by an employee from an
employer as a salary or wages (Google). This definition is perhaps the simplest to understand, but fails
to truly articulate the complex meaning of compensation. Most school divisions include salary, extra
pay, benefits, and pension in their employee compensation package. Leonard Boswell (2015), former
U.S. Representative, stated it best, when he said The American Dream is one of success, home
ownership, college education for one s children, and have a secure job to provide these and other goals
(Brainy Quotes, n.d.). The American dream Boswell spoke of cannot be achieved through meager
means, the question then is Do the very people who help facilitate this dream for the country s youth,
deserve to achieve the dream as well? Most professions compensate for an employee s formal
education as well as any other experiences relevant to the position. Kirby et al. (1993), found the
factors reported to affect teacher salaries included cost of living, revenue generating potential, supply
and demand for teachers, local industry wages and salaries, and salaries of neighboring districts (p.
111). The authors (1993) further explain no one model has been found to satisfactorily explain
variations in teacher salaries within and across geographical regions and In education,

Technology and Communication Paper
Technology has affected all aspects of life and the criminal justice system is no exception. There are
so many ways where technology has been incorporated in the criminal justice and police departments
that I really do not know where to start. The invention of the lie detector test was huge in my opinion.
It can be given in the criminal justice system to try to get to the bottom of the truth. In police
departments you have the use of closed circuit televisions for property security, cameras in police
units, tape recorders used in police units and when conducting investigations and so forth.
In my opinion technological advancements enhance the effectiveness of communication. Let s take

In my opinion this is an excellent technological advancement that saves time and improves accuracy.
Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the distance
between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps for solving a
problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004)
Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non
criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted using
live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into varies databases.
The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are checks for previous
crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various departments for processing such
as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Because live scan is inkless it
saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better for the environment and more convenient
for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the
live scan system and cross referenced for a match in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is
a match then the information is sent to the police department which includes the suspect s weight,
height, sex, and date of birth.

Analysis Of Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Where Have All the Flowers Gone
Where did Seeger s song come from? Are the words even his or did he read them in a book a long
time ago? Did he steal the melody? It might be from a railroad song. Many questions surround this
song as the research will show.
Where Have All the Flowers Gone was originally written by Pete Seeger. He took words from the
book And Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokhovl, in which Czarist Russia soldiers sang while
riding to join the army. He added a few lines changing the mood from semi mocking to melancholy.
He gave it a melody. His version originally only had the first three verses. Joe Hickerson, a camp
counselor, heard Seeger perform in 1955 and later added two more verses and a rhythm to the song.
Seeger gave him a percentage of the royalties for his contributions and writing credit. The resulting
song is a haunting narrative of the futility and endlessness of the peace war peace cycle. Seeger
included it in 1960 on his The Rainbow Quest album (Hutchinson).
There have been several controversies alluding to plagiarism but by other artists and Seeger himself.
Attempts have been made to clear these up. Since Seeger spoke of one in the 2006 documentary about
the KT 50 Years Of Having Fun and a major information website published the other it has been
difficult for those seeking the truth behind them (Moran).
One of the many controversies surrounding the song is that Kingston Trio heard Peter, Paul and Mary
perform the song 1961 and,

Research Paper On The Tempest
Written in England, around 1610 1611, William Shakespeare created the romance play titled The
Tempest. This piece of literature is set entirely on an unnamed island in the Mediterranean Sea during
the Renaissance time period; this type of setting is far from the royal courts and civic concerns which
typically dominate the Shakespearean corpus (Louden 201). In the beginning, the main character
Prospero, the duke of Milan, and his infant daughter were exiled from Milan, put on a ship, and left to
fend for themselves in the dangerous waters of the sea. It was by the power and greediness of Alonso,
the king of Naples, and Prospero s usurping brother, Antonio, that he was banished. Soon, Prospero

The Issue of Mass Illegal Immigration to the United States
Introduction America is deemed the land of the free and the home of the brave. The very fabric of this
great nation was built upon immigrants from the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock to the millions of
immigrants landing at Ellis Island. America is known as a melting pot of many different cultures and
ethnic groups with roughly 11.7 million illegal immigrants living here. There has been a long standing
love/hate relationship with the issue of immigration. It has long been debated as to whether or not we
should continue to allow immigrant into our country so freely. Since the 1700 s the U.S. has been
working on and has implemented policies try to restrict and govern the immigrants entering this
country. Many immigrants come to America looking for a better way of life than what was destined
for them in their native lands. Prior to the events of 9/11, for nearly two decades, America welcomed
immigrations to our country with open arms. After 9/11, America s ideals begin to shift pertaining to
immigrants, our nation s safety, and border patrol. America was left with great fear, post 9/11, and
began to implement many changes in our border patrol and immigration laws. In response to record
numbers of illegal border crossings and the security fears triggered by the 9/11 attacks, over the past
two decades the United States has steadily increased its efforts to secure its borders against illegal
immigration. The number of U.S. Border Patrol agents has risen from fewer than

The Power Struggle Between Robespierre And Danton
When I first read about this course in a summer email, I was blown away by the description and
content of the reacting class. It seemed like more of a fun game that a few good friends might play
rather than an honors history course. Over the past few months, I have seen that this course is a
combination of game and class, which, in turn, makes learning fun. This is the reason that I have
learned much about history and perhaps even more about myself during this course. I could say that I
learned about the influence and tactics of Thomas Cromwell or say I saw firsthand the power struggle
between Robespierre and Danton. I could say I learned about the ideas of Rousseau, Burke, Diderot,
More, Marsilius, Machiavelli, and, of course, Baldassare Castiglione. I could say I learned about the
crowd, the National Assembly, the courts of Henry VIII and the Parliament of England. It would be
easy to simply say that I learned the basic history of the English Reformation and the French
Revolution because that is the simplest learning accomplished during this course. However, aside
from the rudimentary knowledge of the two events, I saw and learned from two specific trends
exhibited in each of our games: the formation and churning of factions and the variability and
unpredictability of chance. Factions quickly appeared in both of our games: the Boleyn s versus the
Aragonese for the English game and the three parties of the Jacobins, the Feulliants, and the

My Reflection Of Leadership
During my last spring semester at Fort Hays State University, I became aware that in order to finish
my bachelor s degree, I would have to take one more class prior to walking across the stage at
graduation in May. At that time, I was just ready to be done, so I hoped for something fast and easy.
When I saw the requirements for this class, I knew that wasn t going to be the case at all. I saw the
number of books I would read and the number of papers I would write and I am not going to lie, I felt
like I was going to be overwhelmed. However, when this class started, I became more excited about it.
I received my books and skimmed through briefly and could not wait to get my nose into them. Each
one sounded like something I could gain great knowledge from. My greatest expectation from this
class was to be able to develop myself both professionally and personally. Before I ever started taking
classes in Leadership Studies, there was so much I didn t know about myself. I was always shy and
thought of myself as more of a follower than a leader. Ever since I started taking these leadership
courses, I have learned that I can be both a follower and a leader, depending on the situation. This
class, I hoped, would further educate me not only in more about leadership, but more about myself
and who I could be. Along with what I ve learned about myself, in this final reflection paper, I will

Gender Roles In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Death of a Salesman and Women s Roles in the 1940s
Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman takes place in the late 1940s when women did not have many
rights. Women were being treated like second class citizens by their husbands and did not have much
of a voice back then. In this play women only seem to be pursuing the roles of a typical house wife.
Female characters in Death of a Salesman depict the limited rights of women in the 1940s. The roles
of women have definitely changed over the decades drastically. Women now play a bigger role in
society.

Examples Of Racism In Huckleberry Finn
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is not a racist novel, nor is Mark Twain a racist author. As
Leopold Von Ranke said, You have reckoned that history ought to judge the past and to instruct the
contemporary world as to the future. The present attempt does not yield to that high office. It will
merely tell how it really was . The past had different norms and etiquette than today, and Twain was
merely putting the reader into the perspective of those times. One can t judge the past and judge Twain
s use of the word because in those days, the word was accepted, and not exactly racist . The novel was
a satire on slavery and racism, that, as well as raising social awareness, was also one of the best
American novels of all time. Huckleberry Finn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to put the reader into the perspective of the past and teach them how blacks used to be treated,
he had to use intense language and make harsh comments. Today, people have exceptional knowledge
and have been introduced to racism and what is considered wrong to mention . So the readers of Huck
Finn today jump to the conclusion that Twain is racist because the simplest [things] cannot be made
clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of
a doubt, what is laid before him (Leo Tolstoy). People already have a strong sense as to what racism
consists of, so Twain comes off as a racist right away by using remarks that people have been taught
their entire life are racial remarks.Twain introduced Jim as a comical, uneducated runaway slave,
which most people took offense to. The silly behavior of Jim is common for characters in historical
satires, which is most likely the reason for Twain s choice of Jim s appearance to the audience. Jim is
described to the readers as [trustworthy] to the point of gullibility. These qualities are not altered
during the course of the novel; instead, they are fleshed out and prove to be positives instead of
negatives (CliffNotes). Even though Twain depicted Jim as gullible, it shared the trustworthy and
friendship Jim had in Huck. It proved later in the book as a helpful tool, and played a key part in Jim s

The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver Essay
What Is The True Religion?
The realities of Congo rescued her from the mental enslavement of her father, Nathan Price. Nathan, a
Baptist evangelist journeyed with his four daughters and wife to the Belgian Congo with his mission
to save the unenlightened souls of the Congolese people. His aim was to accomplish this through his
strict biblical sanctions and his firm belief in his Christian faith. As a child who respects their parents
religion and belief, Leah was compassionate and genuine about her father s faith and his outlook on
life. For this reason, she and her other sisters were slaves to his doctrine. They believed that his words
were always true and his idea of saving the Congolese people would be a success. However, as time ...

Nathan s quest to save the souls of the Congolese people was a very arduous task. He had to deal with
people who were of different faiths and beliefs. Nathan being rigid and insular to the Congolese
people beliefs and customs he refuses to understand and respect the beliefs of these people. Instead, he
imposed his doctrines unto them and demanding that they become Christians and for them to believe
that his religion is correct and that no other religion follows. This egomaniac behavior was
demonstrated during one of his encounter with Tata Ndu, the chief of Kikango when he was told that
the people of Congo were not Christians, Nathan was outraged because he thought that they were
committing an act of sin since they did not believe in Jesus Christ. As Leah listened to her father she
began to realize how ignorant her father was towards the Congolese people and their beliefs. It was
during this time she began to question her faith.
Leah s lost for her faith was truly established when her father decided to stay in the Congo during the
period of war when Congo was gaining their independence. Although her father was told that it would
be unsafe for him and his family he decided to stay because he wanted to fulfill his is mission which
was to Americanize and Christianize the people of Congo. As Leah watched the Underdowns, who
were also firm believers of the Christian

Why Did Farmers Express Discontent During 1870-1900 and...
Why did farmers express discontent during 1870 1900 and what impact did their attitudes and actions
have on national politics. Manufacturing hit a huge growth rate during this period which cause
agriculture to decline, and cause farmers to struggle to make a living. The farmers were now being
abused by the railroad companies and banks. The documents in DBQ 8 show rationality for the farmer
s protests, exclusively on bank mortgage tariffs and the gold standard. Two particular groups became
popular during this period and that would be the Grangers and the Populist Party. Farmers fought
against the Gold Standard, railroads, and industrialist during this period causing lots of confrontation.

It was originally opposed by Northern manufacturers, who feared the loss of inexpensive labor; and
Southern slaveholders, who feared the development of free soil. It was intended to branch Western
immigration, but numerous frontiersmen would fail and arrive home. The Homestead Act provided
settlers with 160 acres of surveyed public land. By living on the property for five years and improving
it, a small fee would grant the settler the land. This served as a way to encourage the development of
the family farm and fill in the normally unoccupied region in the Great Plains in which railroads
facilitated this growth. Because of the severe environmental circumstances of the Great Plain region,
the Homestead Act turned out to be less effective than anticipated. Document B talks about how it was
also hard for colored farmers to make a living especially after the Civil War. They had to get the local
merchant or someone else to supply the food for the family to eat while the first crop was being made.
(Document B) After the Civil War they didn t have much land and many became homesteaders who
were given 160 acres along with regulations they must follow. Only 40% of the applicants actually
completed the process and were given the extra land promised for them completion of 160 acres.
However many found it difficult to make profit off such little amount of land during that time, for that

Why There Should Be Banned Catcher In The Rye
1. Historically, for what reasons have people objected to this book?
Many school administration have banned books like Catcher and the Rye because of the contance of
the book. Some reason why Catcher and the Rye was banned of the vulgar language, sexual scenes,
things concerning moral issues (Times 1). But to be more specific, a town in Columbus, Ohio banned
the book from library and schools because it s anti white (Time 1). Also in the same year the book was
released in 1960 a teacher was fired for assigning this book in high schoolers.
2. Does the government have the right to tell you what s appropriate?
In my opinion the government does have a the right to tell us what s appropriate but the government
doesn t need to enforce it. For example, when the you go to the movies each movie has to have a
rating. In a movie theatre scenario a 14 year old kid wants to see a rated R movie he or she needs to
take an adult to show proof of constant. Personally I think it is up the parents or guardians decision of

us, we can always find away to find it. People can look it up online and go on illegal websites to watch

view that has been previously block. On the other hand, if the school administration decides to banned
books that s is offensive because they are deciding what we can and can t read throughout a school
year. If schools are banning books because there inappropriate and they want to shield the children,
they aren t making prepared for the real world. In the real world nothing in censored because people

Glow Sticks Experiment
This experiment is about glow sticks so here are some facts. Let s talk about glowsticks and
everything about them. Light is generated from a chemical reaction which is called
chemiluminescence. Typical glow sticks use a hydrogen peroxide solution, a solution of phenyl
oxalate ester, and a fluorescent dye. Glow sticks are plastic tubes containing glass vials that emit light
when they are cracked/ bent. They have a glow time from 6 12 hours. It also depends on the size of the
glow stick and other stuff like that. Glow sticks are also waterproof if you did not already know that.
Energy created by the chemical reaction is what creates the color. If glow sticks did not have
fluorescent dye there would be no color. Glow sticks might look like they

dred scott
Dred Scott was an enslaved African American man in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for
his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters in the Dred Scott v. Sanford case of 1857,
popularly known as the Dred Scott Decision. The case was based on the fact that although he and his
wife Harriet Scott were slaves, they had lived with his slave owner, Dr. John Emerson, in states and
territories where slavery was illegal according to both state laws and the Northwest Ordinance of
1787, including Illinois and Minnesota. The United States Supreme Court decided 7 2 against Scott,
finding that neither he nor any other person of African ancestry could claim citizenship in the United
States, and therefore Scott could not bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1830 the Blow family took Scott with them when they relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. They sold him

met a teenaged slave named Harriet Robinson whose slave owner was Major Lawrence Taliaferro, an
army officer from Virginia. Taliaferro allowed Scott and Harriet to marry and transferred his
ownership of Harriet to Dr. Emerson so the couple could be together. In 1838, Harriet gave birth to
their first child, Eliza. In 1840, they had another daughter they named Lizzie. Eventually, they would

Fasting Feasting By Anita Desai
Anita Desai s novel Fasting, Feasting, is a two part novel set in the 20th century. The first part is
situated in India, while the second is situated in Western Massachusetts, in the United States. Desai
focuses very seriously on the theme of gender and social roles, particularly referring to female
characters. The author reveals that America s society, in those days, placed gender expectations to its
members, especially regarding to female beauty. The written task intends to show how and why
American women are represented through the character of Mrs Patton. This is the reason why, in this
essay I will analyse the first prescribed question, How and why is a social group represented in a
particular way? , of the topic Power and Privilege . In the text, Mrs. Patton is the sister of Mrs. O
Henry, the wife of Mr. Patton and the mother of Rod and Melanie. Also, she is the one who invites
Arun to stay with her and her family in Western Massachusetts. Desai presented her character in order
to portray the stereotypical women of America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In several moments of the novel, such as in It seems to be frying in the sun because she has spread
quantities of oil over it where Mrs Patton is depicted sunbathing. At this point it is explicit that women
living in America are fascinated with hazardous grades of thinness and over tanning, which are the
ideals of female beauty. It is revealed that Mrs Patton seeks to keep herself cheerful with the shopping
and her sun bathing. What is more, this enthusiasm that Mrs Patton has with her body image is also a
concern to her children. It is shown that they both deal with the obsession of thinness, however, they
struggle to maintain skinny in different ways. Rod is always jogging, and only eats late at night.
Melanie, instead, is always eating fast food despite she never finishes digesting food and always

Physical Geography Power Of Place
Physical geography has a significant impact on the development of countries; hence the title, The
Power of Place. Countries on the coast tend to do better than landlocked countries because they have
more trade opportunities. Landlocked countries usually trade with their neighbors, but if their
neighbors are also struggling economically, then both countries suffer from seclusion. However,
sometimes the landlocked countries have well off neighbors which makes them more likely to do well.
For example, Switzerland s neighbors, France and Italy, happen to be near water, so Switzerland isn t
as negatively affected from being landlocked. Diversity is more commonly found in larger countries.
Small countries usually have fewer cultures and a common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Each of these groups impacts the world in their own way. Globals are wealthy people who are
generally found in the core countries. Although globals are only a small percentage of the population,
they tend to be the most successful and often spread their ideas throughout the world. Globals flatten
the world and control the fates of the locals and mobals (de Blij 7). In the 1950s, de Blij witnessed
how the global Europeans interfered in South Africa, resulting in many locals becoming mobals or
globals. Locals live in the same place their whole life and carry on traditions from hundreds of years
ago. An example of a local community are the farmers in China who still produce rice like their
ancestors did a long time ago. Locals are typically found in the global periphery, and they usually have
a rougher life than the globals do. Somewhere in between the two distinct groups are the mobals.
Mobals tend to be locals that migrate to the core countries in hopes of a better life. For example, the
US has a very high immigration rate because of its many freedoms and education and job

The Role Of Subculture Theory In The United States
This chapter had a lot of important and informative insights. Yet the most insightful information that I
have learned, was subculture theory. Subculture theory is the shared [of] several traits with activity
theory and disengagement theory a convention that people lost statues in old age, a focus on role
changes in later life, and a belief that activity enhanced the lives of the elderly. It differed in that it
built on a sociological theory of subcultural development (pg.53). I have learned today in one of my
other class that we humans are living longer than in the past years. The United State is one of the
countries in which the elderly groups are living longer than other countries. The average age of elderly
for 2020 is 60 75 years old.

Dune Theme
Dune, the science fiction twin of Lord of the Rings , an epic unrivaled in it scope since it was
published in 1965. The book combines politics, religion, science fiction, and familial relations.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the book is are the Fremen the native residents of Arrakis,
fanatical fighters who are able to overcome even the Sardaukar, the Emperor s private troops who are
feared throughout the galaxy for never having been defeated. Shaped by centuries of persecution, and
by the impossible climate of Arrakis, they have become the pinnacle of what humanity can achieve
physically. Herbert shows the theme of greatness coming from adversity throughout the book, with the
Fremen, the Sardaukar, and Paul. Greatness from adversity is first explored by Herbert with the
Sardaukar, the Emperor s fearsome troops. Sourced from his private prison planet Salusa Secundus,
the Sardaukar are the most feared troops in the galaxy. Sardaukar: the soldier fanatics of the Padishah

Parallel Universe In A Seat In The Garden By Thomas King
Parallel Universe in a Garden In the short story, A Seat in the Garden by Thomas King has a unique
take on different stereotypes among the First Nations culture, as it is viewed through a white man s
point of view. As the two main characters can only see the Indian standing in the garden, their actions
result with a point of view that is relevant to how society has viewed the Native American s from the
past until today. This unique version involves the conception of a parallel universe, with the use of
actors and the view through an ethnocentric approach of a culture. Throughout the short story, King
uses a reoccurring image of a large Indian standing in the middle of a garden as a symbol how Indians
are stereotyped into one image. The fact

Legalization Of Drugs
Nonetheless, does legalization of illegal products, such as drugs, diminish black market activity?
James Q. Wilson, a former professor at UCLA and Harvard, stated in one of his columns Our federal
drug laws are irrational, readers then demanded him that we should solve this problem by legalizing
drugs (Wilson). It would be so simple and easy if the legalization of drugs could only work to solve
our nation s black market drug problem. However, this has not worked in any of the cases that have
been tried. In Colorado, where marijuana is legal, growers were growing marijuana and shipping it to
other states where it is illegal. Even though it is legal in nine states, these growers are still selling it on
the black market to avoid the legal regulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our Government should not legalize illegal black market drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and
methamphetamine because it does not diminish the black market s drug organization, it only makes it
easier for them to not get caught and easier for the population to access these drugs.
If legalization of dangerous drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin occurs, they will
become cheaper to buy and that will make it so much easier for users to get the product. Now if illegal
drugs became legal and the price becomes cheaper, anybody could get these highly dangerous drugs.
Many of the American population would oppose this idea because it is a possible harm to their lives
and others. While the black market sells these chemicals for more money, the prices there are also
becoming cheaper. Moreover, many who think that legalization will stop the black market from selling
products because the price is lower is wrong, that is not the case. In Colorado, marijuana growers were
caught selling marijuana to people in states where the drug is illegal. They do this to avoid the

INTRODUCTION PURPOSE AND ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A seminal study recently commissioned by a government Committee of Teacher Education Policy
(COTEP), the so called National Teacher Education Audit (henceforth referred to as the Audit),
reported that there is an over supply of teachers in some school subjects (e.g. Biblical Studies) and an
under supply in other subjects (e.g. Science and Mathematics). These findings seem to corroborate
widespread news reports that new teachers are not finding employment. The apparent contradiction
between supply and demand alluded to above raIses important questions regarding the employment of
teachers. Is there, in fact, an oversupply of teachers? Do teacher education graduates find employment
in teaching? Do Science and Mathematics teacher education graduates, in fact, fill positions in these
assumed critical areas? To address these and related questions, a study was designed to track a cohort
of new teachers with the goal of ascertaining their employment status in the years immediately
following their graduation. ,The study used a longitudinal tracer study design to trace the 1995 cohort
of teacher graduates of the Faculty of Education, University of Durban Westville. Data were collected
at three different periods: at graduation (July 1996), at the end of the school year (December 1996),
and at the beginning of the new school year (January 1997). Survey questionnaires were used for the
collection of data from students, while

The Great Leaps Westward
The reasoning behind the studies the RGA wanted to conduct was because they have reason to suspect
that there are problems that can potentially cause complications with the Great Leaps Westward. Like
a second shadow, the most noteworthy detail was the FYC having a wide spectrum of influence over
Ryanites in places such as the Cornhusker State. The results of this are arguably stupendous: a vast
majority of the Ryanites in these states believe that they should instead collaborate with the FYC and
their allies by offering aid to the FYC s endeavors in both the Plaid Prohibition and Brotzmanskrieg.
To make matters worse, the number of Ryanites sympathetic to the FYC greatly outnumbers the
number of Ryanites who are in support of the Great Leaps Westward, as well as Catholic
Brotzmanskrieg factions like the RGA or the Underground. Indeed, these Ryanites who decided to
align themselves with the FYC, also gave the FYC the privilege to evangelize in their Catholic schools
and Catholic high schools, provided that the FYC offers them material goods and prestige and power.
By doing so, these Ryanite collaborators allowed their fellow Kameraden to commit apostasy and join
the Protestant sect of their choosing. Like the temptation of Eve by the serpent in the Garden of Eden,
consuming the delicious fruit grown from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, from which it
caused Man to be inflicted with Original Sin, the FYC did not always keep their end of the bargain

Teacher Student Relationship
Teacher student Relationship
Encourage the children by being enthusiastic about teaching, because if you are excited about learning
the children will be too. When working with children it is important to be energetic and fun and have a
good sense of humor.... Be understanding of the children s backgrounds and concerns. Some children
may be coming from broken homes. The children especially in public may not have ate a meal when
they came home or may not have slept in a bed or may not even have a home. Understanding the child
s background builds understand of how and how much to motivate the students. In turn, they will trust
you when something is going wrong. Make time to get to know your students by developing fun
activities at morning circle time and at free time. If you do not have time, make time.
The benefits of the teacher student relationship are, if students love their teacher they will want to
come to school and participate in any activity you plan for them. If the students know that you are
there for them and that you listen to them they will trust you.....(trust) My goal in this relationship is
that I establish a trustworthy relationship by having fun and learning about my students and by doing
this have a great year with less frustration and stress. Some of the actions I will take to accomplish my
goals are, setting up an environment that feels comfortable and trustworthy; Displaying encouraging

Increasing storage will allow for larger amount of raw materials to be kept on hand and reduce the cost associated with order multiple smaller batches of raw materials. Challenge two: Inventory/Shipping: Shipping and receiving are sharing facilities due to one railroad spur being available. The company is having problems producing enough products for the customers. Albatross Anchor charges the same per unit as their competitors. However, the profit margin can sometimes be as much as 35% less (on some of the anchors) because of operations inefficiencies. $8 per pound for mushroom/bell anchors $11 per pound on for snag hook anchor Complication two Economies of Scale in material purchasing: The firm is not able to realize economies since they are not able to produce larger orders as easy. They are not able to meet capacity utilization within the plant due to operational inefficiencies. They can only produce small batches. Scale economies have brought down the unit costs of production and have fed through to lower prices for consumers. Economies of scale are a key advantage for a business that is able to grow. Most firms find that, as their production output increases, they can achieve lower costs per unit. Economies of scale are the cost advantages that a business can exploit by expanding their scale of production. The effect of economies of scale is to reduce the average (unit) costs of production. • 3. Essay about Abraham Lincoln s Assassination Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States was elected president on November 6 in the year 1860. Not even on the South s ballot, Lincoln received 40% of the popular vote. As a strong republican, Lincoln believed in the abolition of slavery. Lincoln became president in the highest conflict between North and South in history and wanted to preserve the Union. He believed that the South should not be punished after the Civil War because he thought that they had already been punished enough from the war. Abraham Lincoln s lenient policies caused him to be hated by both the North and the South. He believed that all should be treated with respect and wanted to find a compromise between the feuding sides of the Civil War. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the War, the Confederates general was Robert E. Lee; the best general in the United States, and the Union s main general was Ulysses S. Grant. After several Union victories, including those of Vicksburg and Gettysburg in 1863, it became clear the North would win. On April 3 of 1865, Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy since May of 1865, fell to the Union forces. Then, less than a week later, General Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Courthouse, nearly ending the war. John Wilkes Booth became a professional actor at the age of seventeen (Reilly, 2012). During the Civil War, he worked as a spy and smuggled medicine to the Confederates Reilly, 2012). Then, when Richmond fell, Booth was crushed by the collapse of the rebellion and returned to Washington. Booth believed that Abraham Lincoln would be not be re elected for his second term and became angry when he was. Soon after, Booth attended Lincoln s second inaugural speech. After the speech Booth uttered the words What an excellent chance I had, if I wished, to kill the President on Inauguration day! (Swanson, 2006, p. 6). Shortly after the war, Lincoln gave a speech outlining his plans for peace and reconstruction for the country. Upon hearing Lincoln s words, Booth muttered Now, by God I ll put him through...this is the last speech he will ever make (34f. Assassination of the President, [n.d.], Web). TRANSITION? Running a business takes time, dedication, effort, and commitment. Each member takes on the challenge of completing different tasks, but in the end, they all come together as a whole to run the business. Just like B C Kitchen, each member takes on a fundamental role behind the scenes to ensure the success and liveliness of the restaurant. In any restaurant setting, the magic begins in the kitchen. Due to the inviting aroma that surrounds the entirety of the restaurant, B C Kitchen has become a place where friends become family. The manager and head waitress who created this promised quality, my mother Katie Ho s position plays a significant part in the business. With her most enticing presence, her prime responsibilities consist of serving and tending to customers needs while still overseeing the entire front of the restaurant. As much as she already does, she also manages to complete all the bookkeeping chores. Considering all of the numerous tasks my mother has to juggle on a daily basis, her role of taking charge as manager and the head waitress is clearly irreplaceable. Even though my parents and aunt have already constructed a full and equipped team, I also happen to work alongside with them from time to time. As a member of the team, I commonly work in the front as a waitress and in the kitchen with the responsibility of clean up. Given that I m able to assist both the customers and the team behind the scene that runs it all, makes my position different from the others. • 6. Opp Research Papers It seems to be a popular trend for big developers to branch off and make small and unique indie games. From Ubisoft s Child of Light to Insomniac s Song of the Deep these games are immersive, breathtaking, intimate and, mostly, well received. Most recently is Ready at Dawn s foray into indie development: Deformers. Before we dive into things I do want to let you know that I was given a copy of this game by the developers. However that was just because they re nice, so this is not an ad nor is it #sponsored. And for those of you who do not know about Ready at Dawn Studios here is a brief summary. However, if the ball was behind me and the camera is focused on the ball, trying to control the car while maintaining focus on the game usually left me in unusual positions. (Although Twitch streamers have proved to me that practice makes OP.) In Deformers the Form that you control has full eight axis controls. So you can move in any which way your heart desires. You can strafe in front of the goal to mimic a goalie or charge head first at the enemy like a Berserker from Gears of War to knock the ball from their derpy grip. And if all else fails, you can shoot them. That s right. This is street soccer and the only rule is that there is no rule. (Other than the fact that you have to score in the enemy s net but...you knew that.) After playing the game for a little over an hour I have to say that it is super fun. On my third game of Form Ball I could already imagine myself losing hours to the game. Plus, having gotten a hold of the game this early into it s life cycle (something that cannot be said for Rocket League which I adopted to very late) I have plenty of time to carve out my spot in the Leaderboards. So why haven t I spent said hours on it yet? Well that brings me to the biggest problem with Deformers. The thing that holds the game back the most. It s...the game itself. They secretly hide on bedding, clothing, boxes, luggage, and furniture. But if you really want to sleep like a baby at night and not undergo another bed bug war, here are some tips to keep the little bloodsuckers out of your bed and hopefully out of your house too. 1. Make Sure that Your Bed Frame Has Feet One of the most important things that you need to do is to ensure that your bed has feet. If it currently doesn t have feet, you can always go to a nearby home store and purchase an affordable and simple bed frame. Believe it or not, your bed frame will serve an important part in bedbug proofing your bed. 2. Put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the purpose why having a bed frame is suggested. The bed bugs may attempt to get inside the bed bug coasters but will end up being trapped inside. Once the bedbugs are inside, they can no longer climb up the bed frame. Choose the bed bug coasters that contain compartments because you can track where bed bugs are coming from or how they go up from the ground and hide under the sheets. 3. If Possible, Move Your Bed Away from Walls or Furniture This tip is not always possible for every homeowner as some are living in a small space. So, depending on the size of your room, you can opt to position your bed away from the wall or the furniture. If you can also put it away from anything that touches the bed, it would be much better. The reason is simple: these walls or furniture linked to the bed is giving bed bugs a way to cross and reach your bed while you are sleeping, which of course spells nightmares. You can keep the bed at least one foot away. Also, bed bugs are not really capable of jumping from the wall to your bed. So, even if the gap is just one inch, it would also be okay as long as your bed covers do not also touch the furniture or wall around the bed. 4. Don t Let the Bed Cover Touch the Floor or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Autonomous motivation is self authored and personally endorsed as one s own (Ryan Deci, 2000). There are two types of autonomous motivation that are associated with employees functioning, intrinsic motivation and identified regulation. Intrinsic motivation involves employees engaging in an activity because they find it interesting and satisfying. They usually express this with comments like, I enjoy what I do. The other type of autonomous motivation is identified regulation. This involves identifying with the activity performed and the time spent seems important and worth the effort. Most employees express identified regulation through comments as, The work I do is important to me. Controlled motivation is that which is pressure based and imposed by forces (i.e. people, rewards, deadlines) outside the person (Ryan Deci, 2000). A type of controlled motivation is external regulation. This involves employees doing an activity because they expect to gain an external contingency to do so. The motivation is externally controlled because the employees are energized into to working by incentives and to avoid consequences. If the incentives are not present and the consequences are absent, the employees are not motivated to do action. To some persons, emotional intelligence is defined as study which looks for human cognitive abilities beyond traditional academic intelligence, (Zeidner et al., 2004). Researchers have categorized their definition based on the either an ability model or mixed model. Studies of John D. Mayer and Peter Salovey (1997) have supported this model stating that emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to perceive accurately, appraise, and express emotion; the ability to access and/or generate feelings when they facilitate thought; the ability to understand emotion and emotional knowledge; and the ability to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth (p. 35). • 11. The Race For K 12 Public Education Reform Teacher compensation is one of many hot button issues in the race for K 12 public education reform in America. Google (2015), defines compensation as simply the money received by an employee from an employer as a salary or wages (Google). This definition is perhaps the simplest to understand, but fails to truly articulate the complex meaning of compensation. Most school divisions include salary, extra pay, benefits, and pension in their employee compensation package. Leonard Boswell (2015), former U.S. Representative, stated it best, when he said The American Dream is one of success, home ownership, college education for one s children, and have a secure job to provide these and other goals (Brainy Quotes, n.d.). The American dream Boswell spoke of cannot be achieved through meager means, the question then is Do the very people who help facilitate this dream for the country s youth, deserve to achieve the dream as well? Most professions compensate for an employee s formal education as well as any other experiences relevant to the position. Kirby et al. (1993), found the factors reported to affect teacher salaries included cost of living, revenue generating potential, supply and demand for teachers, local industry wages and salaries, and salaries of neighboring districts (p. 111). The authors (1993) further explain no one model has been found to satisfactorily explain variations in teacher salaries within and across geographical regions and In education, ... Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the distance between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps for solving a problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004) Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted using live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into varies databases. The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are checks for previous crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various departments for processing such as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Because live scan is inkless it saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better for the environment and more convenient for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the live scan system and cross referenced for a match in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is a match then the information is sent to the police department which includes the suspect s weight, height, sex, and date of birth. In conclusion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis Of Where Have All The Flowers Gone Where Have All the Flowers Gone Where did Seeger s song come from? Are the words even his or did he read them in a book a long time ago? Did he steal the melody? It might be from a railroad song. Many questions surround this song as the research will show. Where Have All the Flowers Gone was originally written by Pete Seeger. He took words from the book And Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokhovl, in which Czarist Russia soldiers sang while riding to join the army. He added a few lines changing the mood from semi mocking to melancholy. He gave it a melody. His version originally only had the first three verses. Joe Hickerson, a camp counselor, heard Seeger perform in 1955 and later added two more verses and a rhythm to the song. Seeger gave him a percentage of the royalties for his contributions and writing credit. The resulting song is a haunting narrative of the futility and endlessness of the peace war peace cycle. Seeger included it in 1960 on his The Rainbow Quest album (Hutchinson). There have been several controversies alluding to plagiarism but by other artists and Seeger himself. Attempts have been made to clear these up. Since Seeger spoke of one in the 2006 documentary about the KT 50 Years Of Having Fun and a major information website published the other it has been difficult for those seeking the truth behind them (Moran). One of the many controversies surrounding the song is that Kingston Trio heard Peter, Paul and Mary perform the song 1961 and, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This piece of literature is set entirely on an unnamed island in the Mediterranean Sea during the Renaissance time period; this type of setting is far from the royal courts and civic concerns which typically dominate the Shakespearean corpus (Louden 201). In the beginning, the main character Prospero, the duke of Milan, and his infant daughter were exiled from Milan, put on a ship, and left to fend for themselves in the dangerous waters of the sea. It was by the power and greediness of Alonso, the king of Naples, and Prospero s usurping brother, Antonio, that he was banished. Soon, Prospero and his daughter, Miranda, land on this unnamed ... The very fabric of this great nation was built upon immigrants from the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock to the millions of immigrants landing at Ellis Island. America is known as a melting pot of many different cultures and ethnic groups with roughly 11.7 million illegal immigrants living here. There has been a long standing love/hate relationship with the issue of immigration. It has long been debated as to whether or not we should continue to allow immigrant into our country so freely. Since the 1700 s the U.S. has been working on and has implemented policies try to restrict and govern the immigrants entering this country. Many immigrants come to America looking for a better way of life than what was destined for them in their native lands. Prior to the events of 9/11, for nearly two decades, America welcomed immigrations to our country with open arms. After 9/11, America s ideals begin to shift pertaining to immigrants, our nation s safety, and border patrol. America was left with great fear, post 9/11, and began to implement many changes in our border patrol and immigration laws. In response to record numbers of illegal border crossings and the security fears triggered by the 9/11 attacks, over the past two decades the United States has steadily increased its efforts to secure its borders against illegal immigration. • 16. The Power Struggle Between Robespierre And Danton When I first read about this course in a summer email, I was blown away by the description and content of the reacting class. It seemed like more of a fun game that a few good friends might play rather than an honors history course. Over the past few months, I have seen that this course is a combination of game and class, which, in turn, makes learning fun. This is the reason that I have learned much about history and perhaps even more about myself during this course. I could say that I learned about the influence and tactics of Thomas Cromwell or say I saw firsthand the power struggle between Robespierre and Danton. I could say I learned about the ideas of Rousseau, Burke, Diderot, More, Marsilius, Machiavelli, and, of course, Baldassare Castiglione. I could say I learned about the crowd, the National Assembly, the courts of Henry VIII and the Parliament of England. It would be easy to simply say that I learned the basic history of the English Reformation and the French Revolution because that is the simplest learning accomplished during this course. However, aside from the rudimentary knowledge of the two events, I saw and learned from two specific trends exhibited in each of our games: the formation and churning of factions and the variability and unpredictability of chance. Factions quickly appeared in both of our games: the Boleyn s versus the Aragonese for the English game and the three parties of the Jacobins, the Feulliants, and the Conservatives in the ... My Reflection Of Leadership During my last spring semester at Fort Hays State University, I became aware that in order to finish my bachelor s degree, I would have to take one more class prior to walking across the stage at graduation in May. At that time, I was just ready to be done, so I hoped for something fast and easy. When I saw the requirements for this class, I knew that wasn t going to be the case at all. I saw the number of books I would read and the number of papers I would write and I am not going to lie, I felt like I was going to be overwhelmed. However, when this class started, I became more excited about it. I received my books and skimmed through briefly and could not wait to get my nose into them. Each one sounded like something I could gain great knowledge from. My greatest expectation from this class was to be able to develop myself both professionally and personally. Before I ever started taking classes in Leadership Studies, there was so much I didn t know about myself. I was always shy and thought of myself as more of a follower than a leader. Ever since I started taking these leadership courses, I have learned that I can be both a follower and a leader, depending on the situation. This class, I hoped, would further educate me not only in more about leadership, but more about myself and who I could be. Along with what I ve learned about myself, in this final reflection paper, I will also explain what really worked for me in this specific course, new knowledge that I have ... As Leopold Von Ranke said, You have reckoned that history ought to judge the past and to instruct the contemporary world as to the future. The present attempt does not yield to that high office. It will merely tell how it really was . The past had different norms and etiquette than today, and Twain was merely putting the reader into the perspective of those times. One can t judge the past and judge Twain s use of the word because in those days, the word was accepted, and not exactly racist . The silly behavior of Jim is common for characters in historical satires, which is most likely the reason for Twain s choice of Jim s appearance to the audience. Jim is described to the readers as [trustworthy] to the point of gullibility. These qualities are not altered during the course of the novel; instead, they are fleshed out and prove to be positives instead of negatives (CliffNotes). A seminal study recently commissioned by a government Committee of Teacher Education Policy (COTEP), the so called National Teacher Education Audit (henceforth referred to as the Audit), reported that there is an over supply of teachers in some school subjects (e.g. Biblical Studies) and an under supply in other subjects (e.g. Science and Mathematics). These findings seem to corroborate widespread news reports that new teachers are not finding employment. The apparent contradiction between supply and demand alluded to above raIses important questions regarding the employment of teachers. Is there, in fact, an oversupply of teachers? Do teacher education graduates find employment in teaching? Do Science and Mathematics teacher education graduates, in fact, fill positions in these assumed critical areas? To address these and related questions, a study was designed to track a cohort of new teachers with the goal of ascertaining their employment status in the years immediately following their graduation. ,The study used a longitudinal tracer study design to trace the 1995 cohort of teacher graduates of the Faculty of Education, University of Durban Westville. • 37. The Great Leaps Westward The reasoning behind the studies the RGA wanted to conduct was because they have reason to suspect that there are problems that can potentially cause complications with the Great Leaps Westward. Like a second shadow, the most noteworthy detail was the FYC having a wide spectrum of influence over Ryanites in places such as the Cornhusker State. The results of this are arguably stupendous: a vast majority of the Ryanites in these states believe that they should instead collaborate with the FYC and their allies by offering aid to the FYC s endeavors in both the Plaid Prohibition and Brotzmanskrieg. To make matters worse, the number of Ryanites sympathetic to the FYC greatly outnumbers the number of Ryanites who are in support of the Great Leaps Westward, as well as Catholic Brotzmanskrieg factions like the RGA or the Underground. Indeed, these Ryanites who decided to align themselves with the FYC, also gave the FYC the privilege to evangelize in their Catholic schools and Catholic high schools, provided that the FYC offers them material goods and prestige and power. By doing so, these Ryanite collaborators allowed their fellow Kameraden to commit apostasy and join the Protestant sect of their choosing. Like the temptation of Eve by the serpent in the Garden of Eden, consuming the delicious fruit grown from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, from which it caused Man to be inflicted with Original Sin, the FYC did not always keep their end of the bargain with the ... When working with children it is important to be energetic and fun and have a good sense of humor.... Be understanding of the children s backgrounds and concerns. Some children may be coming from broken homes. The children especially in public may not have ate a meal when they came home or may not have slept in a bed or may not even have a home. Understanding the child s background builds understand of how and how much to motivate the students. In turn, they will trust you when something is going wrong. Make time to get to know your students by developing fun activities at morning circle time and at free time. If you do not have time, make time. The benefits of the teacher student relationship are, if students love their teacher they will want to come to school and participate in any activity you plan for them.
