Write An Essay On Geronimo s Life
Born sometime around the 1820s near the Gila River along the border of what later would be
known as Arizona and New Mexico, Geronimo, also named Goyaale, became known as a leader
and motivator for his tribe. As a boy, he was a talented hunter often getting praise from the rest
of his tribe. It is said that he ate the heart of the first animal he killed to ensure that he would
always be successful hunter. Throughout his life, he was told that no one was his friend, except
his arms and legs. There was always danger, he was told, There was always that fear, that just
around the corner, somebody would be coming around to take your life. His hatred toward the
Mexicans became rooted into his core as it was understandable when, several years later,... Show

One day as he was mourning alone in the forest, Geronimo heard voices telling him that he could
not be shot and that a great power would be guiding his arrows as he hunted for revenge on the
Mexicans that murdered his family. But in 1848, soon after the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe
Hidalgo, in which Mexico ceded widespread lands in the Southwest to the United States, the Anglo
Americans made it clear they intended to restrict the attacking and territorial use by the different
Apache bands. The Anglo American mines, ranches, and communities established interrupted the
Apaches lifestyles. The Americans set limits on where the Apaches could live. The Apaches, of
course, had other ideas. But after his tribe was relocated on the San Carlos reservation in Arizona
1872, the Chiricahuas were unhappy with the idea of living any reservation life, but their
disappointment turned to anger when they were forcibly gathered with other Apache groups
Reservation in Arizona. Geronimo became the main focus of the fury of terrified white settlers, and
of the tensions that divided Apaches struggling to survive under almost unbearable

Essay on Federal Reserve Act
The Federal Reserve: A Knight in Shining Armor
quot;To suffer either the solicitation of merchants or the wishes
of government, to determine the measure of the bank issues,
is unquestionably to adopt a very false principle of conduct. quot;
Henry Thornton, 1802
The banker was frantic. A large mob was gathering outside his bankand the people were clamoring
for their money. The banker called the FederalReserve Bank in Minneapolis and warned that unless
this quot;mad run quot; were stopped, he would soon be out of currency. With the bank nearly two

The credit system of the country had ceased to operate, and thousands of firms went into
bankruptcy (Born...,.12). Something had to be done that would provide for a flexible amount
of currency as well as provide cohesion between banks across the United States. (Hepburn, 399)
This knight in shining armor, as described in the story of the bank run, was the Federal Reserve.
The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 helped to establish banks as a united force working for the
people instead of independent agencies working against each other. By providing a flexible
amount of currency, banks did not have to hoard their money in fear of a bank run. Because of
this, there was no competitive edge to see who could keep the most currency on hand and a more
expansionary economy was possible.
The evolution of the Federal Reserve did not begin on December 23, 1913 with the passage of the
Federal Reserve Act. Rather, it began with the Banking Panic of 1907, the most severe of the four
national banking panics that had occurred in the precious thirty four years.
In response to this panic, a committee was established to find the flaws of the current banking
system. This committee, the National Monetary Commission, found there were two main flaws
dominating the system. First, the currency was not responsive to changes in demand. (Born...13).
This meant that the bank had a fixed amount of currency, regardless of the

Fice And Parks And Recreation
The Office and Parks and Recreation are two widely popular shows that capture their audiences
with their unique story lines, mockumentary style, and captivating characters. These two shows
have won many awards and are praised by critics and viewers. When analyzing these shows it was
important to pay attention to their narrative structure. Also, breaking the fourth wall gave these
shows a twist that was different from other situation comedies. The characters are loveable and
funny and truly develop the simple plots. The Officeand Parks and Recreation are two situation
comedies with a firm grasp on the concept of narrative structure with intriguing characters that have
developed through their many seasons. The Office and Parks and Recreation have succeeded in
many aspects. They have been nominated numerous times, won many awards, have positive
reviews all over the internet, and continued their show throughout many years. Both of these shows
are situation comedies in the workplace environment. The Office is based in Scranton,
Pennsylvania and it is a functioning paper company called Dunder Mifflin. The show was created
as a faster paced, Americanized version of the British version of The Office (TV.com). A
documentary film crew came in to this paper company to follow the lives of the employees and
their work led by regional manager, Michael Scott (IMDb). The Office has had nine seasons with

Analysis Of The Book A Good Story
A good story, in my opinion, will have certain elements that keep a reader interested. Of course
the most obvious of those is the story line itself. No one will continue to read if they are not
intrigued by the plot. Secondly and equally important are the characters. Even if the story is
captivating there is little interest in continuing on if the characters are not either incredibly likable
or easily feared or hated. A strongly developed character will always keep a reader following along.
In this particular instance its the monsters that makes the play.
When it comes to the topic of monsters, most of us will readily agree that they are bad. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of what makes a monster. Although... Show

In order to show the importance of a reader response to a story, I will attempt to show how at least
three characters in Shakespeare s The Tempestcould have been perceived as the monster of the tale.
Stephen T. Asma writes that good monster stories can transmit moral truths to us by showing us
examples of dignity and depravity without preaching or proselytizing. (pg 64) Considering that
people can live by very different morals, monsters can be seen in so many different forms. The
Tempest is a perfect example of this. There are at least fifteen characters in the play and of those
characters there are at least three that can be viewed as being a monster or at least possessing some
monster like qualities.
One of the most obvious choices as the monster of the play could be Antonio. He can be found
to say Nobel Sebastian, thou lett st thy fortune sleep die, rather; wink st whiles thou art waking.
(2.1.210) in reference to the sleeping King Alonso. Antonio makes this comment to the king s
brother, in order to convince him that murdering the king is his best chance of taking the throne
for himself. In Act 3, scene 3 Antonio can again be seen speaking of the king s murder when he
speaks the line, I am right glad that he s so out of hope. Do not for one repulse, forgo the
purpose that you resolved t effect.(3.3.11) In some opinions a person who is lacking morals and
has become so greedy that they are willing to plot and plan a murder can be viewed as the most

How Did Harry Potter Fear Death Eaters
Harry Potter Harry fears death eaters because they can pretty much kill him. Harry was often
scared of Voldemort. The reason he was scared is because when he was little,Voldemort killed
his parents and now Voldemort is after him. He was often worried that Voldemort was trying to
find him and trying to find way to finish Harry off by killing him. Harry often is worried about
other people s lives. When Sirius Black s life was threatened by Voldemort telling him that he
will be at the Ministry and Voldemort was going to kill him he had to find out what was going on
so he went to the Ministry without permission by the teachers. Harry is also scared about always

Incident At Morale Essay
Introduction The paper contains an analysis of the film Incident at Morale . The film in question
follows Fred, a chemical engineer who is a professional engineer currently working for Phaust
Chemicals to design a chemical plant. Fred faces many ethical dilemmas during the construction
of the chemical plant. The following sections will analyze an ethical issue that occurred when
Fred decided to use connectors that barely met the QC specs and was a danger to the employees.
The method used to analyze the situation will contain nine steps used in assessing an ethical
situation. Analysis Step 1: Determine the facts of the case. This step is used to determine the
unbiased facts pertaining to the specific situation depicted in the film. Fred, a professional
engineer, is hired by Phaust to design a new plant to manufacture a new paint remover. As stated in

Chuck is motivated to meet the budget goals set by the company, by not using the stainless steel

is the employee incentives that is provided by the company, as stated in the film When a
business turns a profit, it can share that wealth with its employees in the form of bonuses. And
this company s bonuses are based on performance. ( Nichols, 2009,pg 21) if the plant exceeds the
budget and time limit, he would not be receiving his bonus because of his terrible performance.
Fred s motivation to follow the guidelines given by his superiors is because he is a new employee
and he wishes to keep his job since he was recently fired from his previous one at Chemitoil. Phaust
s only motivation in this situation is to spend less money on constructing the plant, and profiting
from a plant that cost twenty percent less than a standard plant when the final product begins

Brand Relationship Between Brands And Consumers
According to Veloutso Moutinho (2009, p.315) Brand relationship is defined as the continual
exchanges between a specified brand and an established customer, where relationship characteristics
of love, association, interdependence and loyalty are developed with the brand. However, Keller
(2014, p.365) revealed that consumer brandrelationships are the quality of relationship between
brands and consumers. As a result, there are many influences that formulate consumer brand
relationship. Basically, brand loyalty , brand equity and trust Escalas and Bettman, (2005, p. 379)
are the underpinning factors that generates brand relationships. Furthermore, this developing
customer brand relationship constitutes a sum of long term experiences with the brand where the
brand is the entirety of the customers experiences with the brand. However, supplementing the long
term customer brand relationship, brand communications is the major catalyst in relation to
enticing both customer and seller in the long term relationship, hence attaining a brand emotional
connection. This brand relationship does not only lodge an essential position in the mental period
of a brand connection, rather it stimulates greater sales due to customer retention, less price
Vulnerability, superior customer loyalty and advanced profit margin.
In addition, developing brand relationship requires the company to build brand equity Keller (2014,
pp. 365), generating value to the brand name through employing perceived

Japanese Education Vs America
In America, education is very different in learning, teaching, and dedication compared to other
countries. In Japan, education is shorter, harder, and very different than America. Japan is very
dedicated to education and are honored for it. Education is one of the most important things to the
people of Japan. By examining Japanese education, it shows how Japan is able to teach and learn
history, environmental, transportation, religion, teaching, and mostly math. Japanese history is
most interesting in my opinion. Japan was first discovered in the 1st century B.C.(Watanabe, Akira
and Yasuo Masai). Japanese history is mostly known for their fierce and brave warriors, the
samurai. The samurai are honored warriors who protected and saved Japan... Show more content on

In fact, students are honored by their family if they attend school. Students are very focussed
and intelligent. In schools, they teach students how to teach. The teacher walks over, glances at
the problem and circles it to signal it was correct. The student then gets up and away from his
seat. Another hand shot up. But, this time the first student takes role of the teacher, or corrector
(Novak Djokotic Foundation).According to NCEE, Japan has one of the top teaching methods
compared to America. Elementary schools learn how to multiply with lines. Also, they learn
1,130 letters compared to America who has 26. Another thing that was interesting to me, was
that students in Japan only go to school for 9 years. In America, we go to school for 12. They
have 6 years in elementary, 3 years of junior high, and 3 years of high school ( Novak Djokotic
Foundation). After high school, students spend 4 years in college. But, for them, college is a
place to relax and have fun. Usually college is a place for studying and looking for a career.
Japanese do that during elementary, junior high, and high school. They have to be dedicated and
focussed all the time. That is why college is a paradise. Compared to America, school in Japan
seems hard but it would be worth it in the end. By researching Japanese education I was able to
learn a lot more about other schools, what they learn, and how they learn

The Boxer Primer
With the progress of the metallic cartridge case and the advancement of smokeless powder, a
reliable ignition method was needed. When loading ammunition, the ignition method utilized is
the primer. Today s primers are basically a tiny cup of an explosive that ignites the powder
charge. Dating back to 1805 and developed by Reverend Forsyth, this detonating powder was a
mixture of fulminate of mercury and potassium chlorate. Not only does the invention of the
primer offer convenience its more reliable. Even with the Flintlock ignition system dominating
firearms and obscurity over percussion cap claims, Joshua Shaw is given credit for creating the
percussion cap in 1814. This percussion cap primer used an explosive mixture of fulminate of
mercury, chlorate of potash, and ground glass in a small cup. This priming cup was positioned
beneath the hammer and would explode releasing gas into the flash hole of the nipple when
released. The charge would ignite the powder charge propelling the projectile out of the muzzle.
In today s modern cartridges, the basic components are very similar, but with upgrades.
Everything is self contained and easier to place into a cartridge case. The nipple location has
changed, and is located inside the case for a Berdan or in the form of an anvil in the Boxer primer.

cartridge which is stamped with the initials NR to indicate that it s non reloadable. Over the years,
primers have improved with the explosive compound ingredients changing from fulminate of
mercury to lead tri nitro resorcinate or lead styphnate. The change in the compound was due to the
fulminate of mercury damaging the cases chemically and stopping the cases from being reloaded
due to being brittle. It however, didn t damage the weapon and was only a problem with the

A Solid Home Essay
Hello everyone! Welcome to our first meeting for the production of A Solid Home . I am very
excited about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For
this production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want
to start with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with
stone walls, and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express
the concept I wantto liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage
wall would help create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blockingas
we could have the characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their
reincarnations. Next, I want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the
more neutral side, coming in colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The
place should also look lived in, should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books
and knickknacks on any tables. This will allow the characters to stand out, as they are the life of
the play and their home is more than just a crypt. Next, talking about the characters, I have... Show

I want to treat this part of the play not like the characters are disappearing but as if they are
finally living out their purpose. Therefore, the characters should not be scared, but should project
their joy so that the audience can feel it. Each should exit out of the trapped door, one by one,
however the other characters should never acknowledge when another character leaves. This is
just another aspect of the characters living their life. Lydia is the last character to disappear .
When this happens, I want her to look and smile at the audience and right when she starts to go
down the trap door, the lights will cut

How Did Rene Descartes Use Methodic Doubt
Rene Descartes was first and for most a mathematician, and when coming up with his new
mathematic theories he wanted to create a method to make knowledge completely certain and
undoubtable by his critics, through his knowledge of philosophy he came up with methodic doubt.
Methodic doubt is a way of finding out what knowledge can be trusted (essentially undoubtable
knowledge) by systematically doubting everything. Descartes used methodic doubt because he
believed that if we say that we know and understand reality or existence that our claim to knowing
that must be based on irrefutable evidence rather then just assumption. He likened it to taking a
barrel of apples, going through them one by one and putting the sound ones back . Therefore
Descartes went about using methodic doubt as a way to create a firm foundation for these beliefs
by first doubting all knowledge, reality and our own existence. In his first meditation Descartes
doubts all our senses saying that there is no way to prove that they are not... Show more content on

He believes we can not trust that anything actually exists apart from our own consciousness, he s
conclusion of I think there for I am but that is all that one can prove, you can not say You think
there for you are . Descartes essentially breaks down all knowledge and human life with his
methodic doubt but this conclusion he comes to only rebuilds a minor part of it, he does not
His procedure of doubting the senses can be defended in part because although one can doubt
the sense s because there is no way to prove that they are not deceiving us, Descartes gives proof
of this argument when he gives the sample of objects appearing differently when they are far
away from us. But this argument is flawed because we know that we are being deceived by our
senses in this case because we know when our senses are wrong only because we also know when
they are right and that we are not being

Rhetorical Analysis Of Harriet Ann Jacobs By Harriet Jacobs
Harriet Ann Jacobs is a girl who is locked away, away in a place that only Dr. Flint knows. She is
a struggling girl who wants to be free and go out and be free, although, she cannot. She speaks
about how much she dislikes where she is living and she wishes she could be somewhere else,
although, she has seen worse things happen outside. As she talks about her current living status
and her memories, she incorporates or talks about them very well. In this passage or section, she
uses rhetorical strategies to add a different feel and perception of her life. She also speaks about
why sometimes it is worth being stuck or cramped in a tiny place, due to some of the horrors she
has witnessed or seen from the outside world. In paragraph three, Jacobs uses personification many
times to describe how the winter and autumn felt, and how they affected her. For example, she says
that autumn whirls through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of the whole excerpt, she starts off with a hateful or dissatisfied tone about
always being locked away. As it progresses, until paragraph four, her tone and perception
changes. For example, in paragraph four, her tone was more understanding and calmer, she is also
is speaking about why she kind of appreciates being locked away because it keeps her from the
other nightmarish things she sees outside through the small hole she found. This shows the
audience that the little girl, in a way, is mature and has experienced a lot. The audience perceives
her tone in the beginning, as disdain, dissatisfaction, or a hateful tone to show her unhappiness with
her situation, to show that she really wants to travel outside and view the world freely, although,
her change in tone shows that she sometimes appreciates being able to only stay in one place
because she is hidden or away from the cruel things that happen outside. Which allows the audience
to understand and feel the way she is

Literary Analysis Of Our Town
Aaron KeimeMr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town
is made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small
town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for
loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is
futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this
paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this
play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play.
The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is
Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college
and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first
World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain
but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast time passes the play shows Joe s
brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on the same way that it always
did even when all these people die. The play actually mentions quite a... Show more content on

someone with them. The characters that don t normally do not have very good lives. The

but failed. That made him feel like everything he did in his life was for nothing. The second

The Statehood of Hawaii
On the 21st of August 1959, a small colony of inhabited Polynesian volcanic rock located in the
middle of the Pacific Ocean became the 50th state named Hawai i . Before Hawai i became the
50th State, foreigners from the United States attempted to annex Hawai i from its people and the
Hawaiian Monarch for political and military gains. It all started as far back as 1893 when Hawai i
was ruled by Hawaiian Kings and Queens. All three attempts at annexation the United States
Diplomats and foreigners failed until 1959 when Hawai i declared Statehood. The United States
Government and its political leaders celebrated along with a small portion of native islanders but

The third attempt at having The Kingdom of Hawai i annexed was a false claim by the United
States declaring Hawai i territory of the United States because it was a Neutral State. The United
States Congress and President McKinley signed into law a Joint Resolution, which they claimed
Hawai i annexed by the United States of America and was now U.S. territory; this claim was a
violation of war between the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States. The United States claimed
due to concern Hawai i might become part of the European Nation s Empire they needed resolution
claiming Hawaii s Annexation. But Hawai i disputed the claim stating Hawai i could not be
annexed thru a Joint Resolution and that a Joint Resolution is not a treaty; it is a congressional act
on behalf of the United States. The congressional act can only affect U.S. territory and Hawai i
was not a U.S. territory or state to be claimed
Three attempts were made and none were successful, furthermore while the Republic of Hawai i
was making every attempt to annex Hawai i they were caught in the deception, each attempt was
being covered up by other political groups from the United States Government that was in favor of
the annexation. Since the statehood of Hawai i was declared in 1959, many native Hawaiians

the United States of America. However the writings and evidence that have

The Member Of The Wedding By Carson Mccullers
Although a character of few pages and few words, I find Honey Brown to be the most compelling
and intriguing figure of The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers. Honey Brown, the
foster brother of Berenice, drifts into the story only a handful of times, but his presence, even in the
shadows of the scenes, creates a growing curiosity for the reader and ignites a profound empathy for
his account. His quiet and stunted dialogues and solemn nature create an enigmatic yet noteworthy
narrative. His struggle with racial confinements and inability to conform leaves him without a

to be forgotten. Interestingly, while he is concealing his brain from the world and rejecting his
own capacity, he hides in Big Mama s kitchen reading for so long that his nose is about to grow
into [the] book (127). To the world he portrays himself as slow and dull, but under his façade is
a brilliant and vibrant mind, which only a few are fortunate enough to glimpse. However his
success in academia was not always so hushed and he was not always so pessimistic about his
own prospects. He had been the first in his studies at the colored high school and had taught
himself French as well as played the horn (128). One could easily say he was a prodigy.
However, somewhere in his transition from adolescence to adulthood, his ambitions become
disillusions and his world becomes smaller to the point where he becomes confined to the
barriers of his mind. He has so much going for him, but the era he lives in will never acknowledge
his potential for greatness. It is heartbreaking to see such a great mind doubt himself, but the tolls

Events of the 1980 s
The 1980 s started of hope and optimism to a vision of a reborn America. After two decades of
troubles, assassinations, urban riots, the agony of Vietnam and the disgrace of Watergate the nation
was ready to move ahead. Here was the oldest man ever to serve as president, Ronald Reagan was

financial greed in felonious extreme.
In 1984, Geraldine Ferraro, a New York congresswoman, becomes the first woman to run for

My Life As A Better Life
A lot of people would always look back at their childhood and say, Wow! Those were good times.
To me, it wasn t. I was easy to get picked on as I was chubby and I am unable to speak Bahasa
Indonesia fluently. In my elementary school, I began to get a lot of hatred from my classmates
as they would speak behind my back. I began to hate humanity and began to develop depression
over the years. As I was always being picked on, I was unable to create any friends until I moved
to Malaysia. When I moved to Malaysia, I had a mindset of: There is no point of making any
friends. This all changed once I met Chan Young Jeon, or as known as CY. Despite my
traumatizing childhood, CY helped me experience a better life with his compassion, diligence,
and creativity. Having the ability to analyze other people just by looking at them is something
unique, most of us cant do it but CY can. CY has this ability and it has become second nature for
him. When I moved to Malaysia, he could tell that I was timid. When he sat next to me, he
began to ask questions about my age, the places I ve been and my impression of Malaysia. At
first, I did not know what to do because usually, no one would go up to me. When he struck a
conversation, I began to mumble and he could tell I was scared. As he realized this, he took me
around the school and I asked him questions such as How is the community here? Are they
friendly? When I asked him these questions, he immediately knew I got bullied frequently. He
began to introduce me to some of his friends and taught me how to socialize. Out of curiosity, I
asked him Why are you helping me? He replied back I know you have been through a rough
patch and you seem like you need a friend to guide you. I began to understand why he was
compassionate towards other people. He did this to make sure that they are not alone in this and
lending a helping hand allows other people to not feel abandoned. CY wasn t very diligent in
school. He is a strong procrastinator and he would try to skip school. Despite his bad habits, he
was able to make money independently by creating his own small business. He put countless hours
into his new business as he would research on the latest trends. At the end of the day,

Should cyber bullies be prosecuted for harassing individuals online? The answer is yes, reasoning
for this is because students are unable to escape the wrath of bullies when they get home because
they are on social media now. Students used to be able to get home and have peace because the

It’S Said That The Universe Will Tend To Move Toward A
It s said that the universe will tend to move toward a state with a higher entropy. Every gas
molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of
the universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has
given every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for
over three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the
numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not
able to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). But, what is it that she
has been eager to see through this long lasting experiment of... Show more content on

Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a
sustained circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin s theory as
the struggle for life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only
represent the species struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is
interdependent with one another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each
other if they grow close to one another. And if a mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its
existence [now] depends on birds (Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is
then similar to the flow of energy explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds
becomes the container for the transfer of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be
dissipated as work for the bird to fly from one place to another, if not the energy would be
transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this seems as if evolution acts on every species with the
thought of a certain ethics that the species must followed which formed a strict system. Further
continuation of the theory comes from their explanation about the goal of evolution to elaborate
and diversify the biota

According to him, the citizen consumer hybrid provides relatively superficial attention to

The Influence Of Age, Work Experience, Education Level,...
Chapter 3: Methodology
The researcher conducted this quantitative research study to explore the influence of age, work
experience, education level, and competence based standardized entrance exam scores on whether
a job applicant will pass a pre employment polygraph exam. While demand for qualified law
enforcement applicants has increased significantly, the pool of participants qualified for these
positions has diminished (Wilson et al., 2010). In order to address this developing issue, law
enforcement employers need to understand how their hiring procedures affect employment
outcomes. The polygraph is one hiring procedure commonly used in the law enforcement field.
While there has been some research exploring non physiological variable influences on integrity
type tests, there is a lack of research on non physiological variable influences on the polygraph test.
As such, the researcher plans to explore possible influences on pre employment polygraph exams.
This study will contribute to the existing literature on integrity tests, which in turn will provide
researchers and Human Resource policy makers with additional data. These individuals may
potentially use this data to streamline hiring processes for specialized law enforcement, security,
and government positions. This chapter will outline the research design and methodology proposed
to be followed. First, the overall research design will be justified. Next, the independent and

Lying In Huck Finn
In the movie Huckleberry Finn lying plays a big role in the plot. I personally do not like lying at
all and believe it will only get you further into trouble, but this story does an excellent job of
proving me wrong. There are plenty of times where Huck easily produces a name and why he is
where he is. He effortlessly comes up with elaborate back stories and takes away any suspicion
from himself. I d like to say that there are no benefits to lying, but it definitely helps Huck escape
some sticky situations. The three areas that I will focus on are superstitions, which are lies in of
themselves, Huckleberry dresses as a girl, and the Duke and the King join Huck and Jim on the raft.

Should Nuclear Waste Be Stored In South Australia
Should nuclear waste be stored in South Australia?
Should we be letting the rest of the world use our backyard as a dump for nuclear waste? South
Australia is considering to build a nuclear waste dump which would ultimately hold 13% of the
worlds high level nuclear waste. Currently this waste is being held around the world in different
locations, i agree this is not a permanent solution but neither is burying it in the ground. I don t
agree that we should be building a nuclear waste dump in South Australia but instead putting our
time and money towards something more renewable would be a better investment. Nor is it
necessary because in thirty years the world will run on renewable energy.
We are forgetting the crucial what if question. What if there was a radiation leak in the containers
that the waste was transported in, what if radiation was exposed all over South Australia, maybe
even spreading to other states. Taking into consideration the potential risk of radiation across our
community and eco systems. Radiation is a deadly disease that weakens and breaks up DNA, either

Hartford, City That Has Developed Into A Concentric Zone...
Hartford, CT is a well known city that has developed into a concentric zone fashion. A concentric
zone consists of five zones; Central Business District, Transitional Zone, Working Class Zone,
Residential Zone, and the Commuter Zone. Each zone consists of different qualities that can all be
found in Hartford. Hartford is very similar to Chicago based on the description of Chicago given by
Dr. Burgess. Just like Chicago, Hartford is also a city that has a high crimerate.
The first zone is the Central Business District. This zone is a majority of non residential buildings
and has an emphasis on business and commerce. Downtown Hartford would be considered a
central business district. This zone also has a population of workers that commute from different
towns to get to work and even from another state. In downtown Hartford, there are many popular
businesses, clubs and restaurants that attract people and customers. Examples of these business
include The Hartford Courant, AETNA and even Capital Community College. Popular restaurants

in downtown Hartford live in other towns like Windsor or Bloomfield while others may travel from

The Deregulation Of Energy Markets
1. As BlueWater Power merged, changes were also occurring in Ontario s energy markets that
caused some issues. The deregulation of the market opened up many opportunities for the company;
however, it first had to overcome many obstacles. For example, BlueWater had to overcome the
challenges associated with the large scale merger of six local utilities. Another issue was that they
had very limited IT resources throughout the deregulation process. Finally, they had to upgrade
their outdated system. These were the obstacles present throughout the merger during Ontario s
deregulation of energy markets. A management factor was that responsible for the issues during the
merger was combining the leaders of six organizations into one. BlueWater was now housing six
major local utilities and had to find a way to manage and operate all of these utilities effective and
efficiently without disturbing operations and cash flow. It was essential that management quickly
combined the six organizations into one fully operational utility company, that could service more
than 35,000 customers. An organizational factor was the small IT team that BlueWater had; there
were only five employees trained with IT. This required the company to make sure that the ERP
system they chose was easy to use and required little support, thus limiting their options for new
ERP systems and potentially impacting the cost and sophistication of the system. A technological

Global Warming Is A Major Problem

Global Warming
Global Warming is a major problem that needs to be addressed. Its impacts are already costly and
significant and is just the beginning of a dangerous trend. The impact of global warming or the
more trending term climate change affects not only yourself but the entire world. The earth is
saying something with record heat, drought, storms and fire. Scientists are telling us this is what
global warming looks like. It s time to listen and take action. There s plenty we can do. (Extreme
Weather).
Health effects one of the few major impacts of global warming. With increased CO2 emissions in
the air it can cause increased issues with people already suffering from asthma. CO2 emissions
can also affect pulmonary and cardiac disease worsening the severity of it. Because of the
increased heat problems like dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are becoming more of
an issue. Dangerously hot weather is already occurring more frequently than it did 60 years ago
and scientists expect heat waves to become more frequent and severe as global warming
intensifies. (Global Warming Impacts). If the world does not do more to reduce fossil fuel
emissions and other greenhouse gases that are making heat waves more intense, a lot of people
could get hurt and around 150,000 additional Americans could die by the end of this century due to
excessive heat.
Another major problem facing us is the raise in water levels and the

Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea Essay
Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea
Both To His Coy Mistress , by Andrew Marvell (1621 1678) and The Flea , by John Donne (1572
1631) present different attitudes to love. Both are also structured very differently and occasionally
use contrasting imagery. Each poem was written in the 17th century, just after the Renaissance. The
poets were metaphysical poets. Although the metaphysic was originally a derogatory term,
metaphysical poetry used intellectual and theological concepts in an ingenious way.
Metaphysical poetry was partly written in rebellion against the highly conventional Elizabethan
love poetry just prior to the time. Conventional love poetry what one would generally expect of a ...

Also, as their bloods are already mingled (L.4) in the flea, her virginity is not immensely valuable.
This links with the 17th century idea that women became pregnant when the blood of the man
mixed with her blood during sexual intercourse.В№
In contrast, Marvell s use of imagery is more complex, in a way, as he uses many different
concepts to persuade. However, like the image of the flea, the image of worms that will try (L.27)
the Coy Mistress in death is very unconventional. It presents the attitude that the act of love is
completely necessary in a relationship. The phallic imagery is used in a threatening way as worms
are generally associated with earth and tombs, which corresponds to the idea of death.
The notion of time is used as the basis for the argument in To his Coy Mistress . Marvell
manipulates the idea of time in different ways. In the first stage of the poem he uses time, as he
flatters the Coy Mistress, to suggest that love is a timeless pleasure, and that even thirty thousand
(L.16) years would not be enough time to adore her.
In the second part of his argument, however, Marvell changes the tone to one of urgency as the
speaker frightens the Coy Mistress and threatens that his lust will be into ashes (L.30) in death. He
incorporates death imagery with time in a rather sinister way,

Similarities Between Montag And John In Fahrenheit 451
We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in awhile. How long is it since
you were really bothered? About something important, about something real? (Fahrenheit 451).
When Ray Bradbury wrote this he wanted to get the message across that everyone needs to live a
life of passion, and if you are never really bothered by anything, what kind of life are you living?,
are you okay with that? In the book Fahrenheit 451, by Ray BradburyGuy Montag wants to seek
knowledge within the books, that are forbidden in their society. In the story By the Waters of

Montag is keeping the secret that he wants to become knowledgeable. On John s journey he has
found knowledge within books and wants to share with his people. His father does not believe the
society can handle this information quite yet. Benet writes If you eat too much truth at once you
may die of the truth (184). John wants to inform his people of his new information but he needs to

secrets from his society. In this careful investigation it is obvious that John and Montag both are

Fodo Archetype
Peter Jackson conveys the ways that calamity molds a character s human condition and their
overall identity in his screenplay, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The
presence of this was conveyed as Boromir attempted to pillage the ring from Frodo, Frodo s
emotional status after the apparent death of Gandalf, and how Frodo reacts to his inheritance of the
ring. These moments subjectify the ways a character can develop and adapt due to the
circumstances that the occur.
In the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo is the most dynamic character, as there
are many instances when Frodo is put up against instances of affliction and must acclimate himself
according to the situation at hand. A archetype of this would... Show more content on

The moment that affected him the most was when the only member of the fellowship, he had
one hundred percent trust in, Gandalf, descended to his apparent death. This moment caused
Frodo to lose trust in the rest of the Fellowship, because the chaperone role was passed down to
Aragorn, who Frodo had only been acquainted with for three months. This moment sparked the
beginning of Frodo s mental derailment, convincing himself to escort the Ring to Mordor,
himself. Frodo starts to the regret his decision to carry the ring, and he starts to lose faith in the
task at hand. He starts to comprehend the idea that his venture is not accomplishable without the
guidance, wisdom and powers of the grey wizard, Gandalf. This mental notion is eventually
disregarded as he attempts to defect from the Fellowship. Gandalf s death impacted Frodo in
many ways throughout the film. As Frodo gazed upon Lady Galadriel s mirror, he envisioned the
future of Middle Earth if the ring was not destroyed. This moment motivated Frodo to destroy the
ring and it caused Frodo to become less naive and oblivious to the consequences if he did not

Causes And Effects Of Family Stress On The Family
Family Stress
There are two types of disruptions. One of them is simply stress. This means that there could be a
lack of communication or inconsistency. When there is a stressed family, it means there is a
disruption of what is considered normal. According to Boss (2002), Family stress is a pressure or
strain on a family s fixed state. This stress causes a change in the family s homeostasis.
Homeostasis is what a family considers normal. While the stress may not be initially bad, the
amount of stress reaches either a high level or a low level. When one member of the family shows
a symptom of disturbance, it begins to affect the family. (Boss, 2002)
The other one is crisis. Family crisis is an overpowering interruption in the balance of the family
state. It is a severe burden or change that hinders a family. During this time, the family is not able
to operate because roles and tasks are not performed as normal. A crisis is
There is a difference in family stress and crisis.

Common Toad Behavior
Seismic events, if strong enough, are extremely random earthquakes felt in various parts of the
Earth. As astronomer Seth Shostak once said, We still have no way to eliminate earthquakes,
wildfires, hurricanes, floods or droughts (Seth Shostak). Humans cannot stop earthquakes but they
can predict them using modern technology, geo mapping, and by studying behaviours in animals. In
this article we examine how the Common toad (Bufo bufo) behaves before, during, and after an
earthquakeand how this can help humans in understanding the early signs of an earthquake.
Before observing the Common toads behaviour, we must explain what goes on during an
earthquake to fully understand the behavioural changes these toads undergo. Through common
knowledge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why an internal process that may help toads predict earthquakes can be linked to their
olfactory senses and their epidermis. Toads are amphibians making them sensitive to changes in
water chemistry, since they breed and live a majority of their lives in damp habitats. Grant and
colleagues further study the changes in water chemistry with respect to the effect on toads.
When an earthquake occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O
radicals. This makes them extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various
reactions once they reach the surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2
(hydrogen peroxide). The oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in
damp areas gives sufficient evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active
electrolytes and toad s skins are permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of
H2O2 to the presence of an earthquake in the near future. So the smell of hydrogen peroxide and
the feeling of skin being permeated is a cue for toads becoming aware of a future earthquake

The Differing Perspectives of Greek Philosophers Essay
Unlike Parmenides and Heraclitus, who took a clear stance on whether being is changing or
unchanging, Empedocles argued that things do change, but these objects are composed of
materials that do not change. The change that we see is merely a cause of the interaction and
changes in position of the four basic elements (earth, air, fire, and water). Much like Heraclitus
and his views that orderly change is brought about by the logos , Empedocles also recognized that
there was a force responsible for the change brought about. In his case, changes in the forms and
positions of the basic elements was an effect of two forces love and strife (or more commonly
known as the forces of attraction and repulsion/decomposition). The philosophyof... Show more

Not until recently did we find that atoms, which were assumed to be matter s basic particles, where
themselves made up of even smaller particles. So in that sense, Anaximander is correct in his
philosophy of there being a pure substance , which is the root of everything that we see.
Heraclitus and Parmenides both recognized that the materials which make up the universe could be
broken down to one basic substance, but they came to disagreement over what that basic
substance was exactly, as well as the state of being. Heraclitus believed that everything was fire (or
made of fire), and that it was the fundamental source of change in the universe because a main
property of the universe was that it was in a constant state of changing. Parmenides argued that the
entire idea of change was impossible and that the universe was essentially unmoving and
unchanging. Parmenides was a Monist, so he held the idea that the world is unitary, and that all the
individuals in it are part of an even greater unified whole. One of his arguments that motion and
states of being are impossible.
Protagoras was a sophist, who believed that knowledge was relative. There are four main types of
relativism (species, descriptive, cultural, and individual), but general main idea of each is that there
is no absolute truth (comparable to agnosticism). Protagoras said that man is the measure of all
things . We can interpret this as there is no absolute truth and

Climate Change Is An Important Issue That Concerns Humanity
Climate change is an important issue that concerns humanity. Climate change refers to an increase
in average global temperatures. Every day, the enhanced greenhouse effect continues to advance,
which significantly influences Earth s long term climate. In addition, human activity is also
contributing to the increase of global warmingand is already leading to harmful consequences.
Some people believe that global warming is not occurring and the heating of the globe, is just a
part of the Earth s natural cycle. Several consequences such as, ice caps melting, show us that
global warming is in fact occurring. Therefore, we should start making changes in order to reduce
future damages to the Earth.
The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is one of the many reasons why global warming is occurring.
Heat that is being trapped by the Earth s surface is known as the natural greenhouse effect.
However, throughout the last decades since the Industrial Revolution, the natural greenhouse effect
has been disrupted due to greenhouse gas trapping too much heat in the Earth s atmosphere. The
enhanced greenhouse gas effect is the extra heating of the Earth s atmosphere caused by increased
levels of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, in the atmosphere. According to
Cheryl Jakabs, carbon dioxide levels are now 100 parts per million higher than the beginning of the
1800s. Furthermore, this increase of greenhouse gases may lead to an increase of natural disasters.

  • 4. Write An Essay On Geronimo s Life Born sometime around the 1820s near the Gila River along the border of what later would be known as Arizona and New Mexico, Geronimo, also named Goyaale, became known as a leader and motivator for his tribe. As a boy, he was a talented hunter often getting praise from the rest of his tribe. It is said that he ate the heart of the first animal he killed to ensure that he would always be successful hunter. Throughout his life, he was told that no one was his friend, except his arms and legs. There was always danger, he was told, There was always that fear, that just around the corner, somebody would be coming around to take your life. His hatred toward the Mexicans became rooted into his core as it was understandable when, several years later,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One day as he was mourning alone in the forest, Geronimo heard voices telling him that he could not be shot and that a great power would be guiding his arrows as he hunted for revenge on the Mexicans that murdered his family. But in 1848, soon after the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which Mexico ceded widespread lands in the Southwest to the United States, the Anglo Americans made it clear they intended to restrict the attacking and territorial use by the different Apache bands. The Anglo American mines, ranches, and communities established interrupted the Apaches lifestyles. The Americans set limits on where the Apaches could live. The Apaches, of course, had other ideas. But after his tribe was relocated on the San Carlos reservation in Arizona 1872, the Chiricahuas were unhappy with the idea of living any reservation life, but their disappointment turned to anger when they were forcibly gathered with other Apache groups Reservation in Arizona. Geronimo became the main focus of the fury of terrified white settlers, and of the tensions that divided Apaches struggling to survive under almost unbearable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Federal Reserve Act The Federal Reserve: A Knight in Shining Armor quot;To suffer either the solicitation of merchants or the wishes of government, to determine the measure of the bank issues, is unquestionably to adopt a very false principle of conduct. quot; Henry Thornton, 1802 The banker was frantic. A large mob was gathering outside his bankand the people were clamoring for their money. The banker called the FederalReserve Bank in Minneapolis and warned that unless this quot;mad run quot; were stopped, he would soon be out of currency. With the bank nearly two hundred miles from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The credit system of the country had ceased to operate, and thousands of firms went into bankruptcy (Born...,.12). Something had to be done that would provide for a flexible amount of currency as well as provide cohesion between banks across the United States. (Hepburn, 399) This knight in shining armor, as described in the story of the bank run, was the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 helped to establish banks as a united force working for the people instead of independent agencies working against each other. By providing a flexible amount of currency, banks did not have to hoard their money in fear of a bank run. Because of this, there was no competitive edge to see who could keep the most currency on hand and a more expansionary economy was possible. The evolution of the Federal Reserve did not begin on December 23, 1913 with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act. Rather, it began with the Banking Panic of 1907, the most severe of the four national banking panics that had occurred in the precious thirty four years. In response to this panic, a committee was established to find the flaws of the current banking system. This committee, the National Monetary Commission, found there were two main flaws dominating the system. First, the currency was not responsive to changes in demand. (Born...13). This meant that the bank had a fixed amount of currency, regardless of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fice And Parks And Recreation The Office and Parks and Recreation are two widely popular shows that capture their audiences with their unique story lines, mockumentary style, and captivating characters. These two shows have won many awards and are praised by critics and viewers. When analyzing these shows it was important to pay attention to their narrative structure. Also, breaking the fourth wall gave these shows a twist that was different from other situation comedies. The characters are loveable and funny and truly develop the simple plots. The Officeand Parks and Recreation are two situation comedies with a firm grasp on the concept of narrative structure with intriguing characters that have developed through their many seasons. • 7. Analysis Of The Book A Good Story A good story, in my opinion, will have certain elements that keep a reader interested. Of course the most obvious of those is the story line itself. No one will continue to read if they are not intrigued by the plot. Secondly and equally important are the characters. Even if the story is captivating there is little interest in continuing on if the characters are not either incredibly likable or easily feared or hated. A strongly developed character will always keep a reader following along. In this particular instance its the monsters that makes the play. When it comes to the topic of monsters, most of us will readily agree that they are bad. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of what makes a monster. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to show the importance of a reader response to a story, I will attempt to show how at least three characters in Shakespeare s The Tempestcould have been perceived as the monster of the tale. Stephen T. Asma writes that good monster stories can transmit moral truths to us by showing us examples of dignity and depravity without preaching or proselytizing. (pg 64) Considering that people can live by very different morals, monsters can be seen in so many different forms. The Tempest is a perfect example of this. There are at least fifteen characters in the play and of those characters there are at least three that can be viewed as being a monster or at least possessing some monster like qualities. One of the most obvious choices as the monster of the play could be Antonio. He can be found to say Nobel Sebastian, thou lett st thy fortune sleep die, rather; wink st whiles thou art waking. (2.1.210) in reference to the sleeping King Alonso. Antonio makes this comment to the king s brother, in order to convince him that murdering the king is his best chance of taking the throne for himself. In Act 3, scene 3 Antonio can again be seen speaking of the king s murder when he speaks the line, I am right glad that he s so out of hope. Do not for one repulse, forgo the purpose that you resolved t effect.(3.3.11) In some opinions a person who is lacking morals and has become so greedy that they are willing to plot and plan a murder can be viewed as the most ... Fred faces many ethical dilemmas during the construction of the chemical plant. The following sections will analyze an ethical issue that occurred when Fred decided to use connectors that barely met the QC specs and was a danger to the employees. • 10. Brand Relationship Between Brands And Consumers According to Veloutso Moutinho (2009, p.315) Brand relationship is defined as the continual exchanges between a specified brand and an established customer, where relationship characteristics of love, association, interdependence and loyalty are developed with the brand. However, Keller (2014, p.365) revealed that consumer brandrelationships are the quality of relationship between brands and consumers. As a result, there are many influences that formulate consumer brand relationship. Basically, brand loyalty , brand equity and trust Escalas and Bettman, (2005, p. 379) are the underpinning factors that generates brand relationships. Furthermore, this developing customer brand relationship constitutes a sum of long term experiences with the brand where the brand is the entirety of the customers experiences with the brand. However, supplementing the long term customer brand relationship, brand communications is the major catalyst in relation to enticing both customer and seller in the long term relationship, hence attaining a brand emotional connection. This brand relationship does not only lodge an essential position in the mental period of a brand connection, rather it stimulates greater sales due to customer retention, less price Vulnerability, superior customer loyalty and advanced profit margin. In addition, developing brand relationship requires the company to build brand equity Keller (2014, pp. 365), generating value to the brand name through employing perceived ... • 11. Japanese Education Vs America In America, education is very different in learning, teaching, and dedication compared to other countries. In Japan, education is shorter, harder, and very different than America. Japan is very dedicated to education and are honored for it. Education is one of the most important things to the people of Japan. By examining Japanese education, it shows how Japan is able to teach and learn history, environmental, transportation, religion, teaching, and mostly math. Japanese history is most interesting in my opinion. Japan was first discovered in the 1st century B.C.(Watanabe, Akira and Yasuo Masai). Japanese history is mostly known for their fierce and brave warriors, the samurai. The samurai are honored warriors who protected and saved Japan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The teacher walks over, glances at the problem and circles it to signal it was correct. The student then gets up and away from his seat. Another hand shot up. But, this time the first student takes role of the teacher, or corrector (Novak Djokotic Foundation).According to NCEE, Japan has one of the top teaching methods compared to America. Elementary schools learn how to multiply with lines. Also, they learn 1,130 letters compared to America who has 26. Another thing that was interesting to me, was that students in Japan only go to school for 9 years. In America, we go to school for 12. They have 6 years in elementary, 3 years of junior high, and 3 years of high school ( Novak Djokotic Foundation). After high school, students spend 4 years in college. But, for them, college is a place to relax and have fun. Usually college is a place for studying and looking for a career. Japanese do that during elementary, junior high, and high school. They have to be dedicated and focussed all the time. That is why college is a paradise. Compared to America, school in Japan seems hard but it would be worth it in the end. • 12. The Boxer Primer With the progress of the metallic cartridge case and the advancement of smokeless powder, a reliable ignition method was needed. When loading ammunition, the ignition method utilized is the primer. Today s primers are basically a tiny cup of an explosive that ignites the powder charge. Dating back to 1805 and developed by Reverend Forsyth, this detonating powder was a mixture of fulminate of mercury and potassium chlorate. Not only does the invention of the primer offer convenience its more reliable. Even with the Flintlock ignition system dominating firearms and obscurity over percussion cap claims, Joshua Shaw is given credit for creating the percussion cap in 1814. This percussion cap primer used an explosive mixture of fulminate of mercury, chlorate of potash, and ground glass in a small cup. This priming cup was positioned beneath the hammer and would explode releasing gas into the flash hole of the nipple when released. The charge would ignite the powder charge propelling the projectile out of the muzzle. In today s modern cartridges, the basic components are very similar, but with upgrades. Everything is self contained and easier to place into a cartridge case. The nipple location has changed, and is located inside the case for a Berdan or in the form of an anvil in the Boxer primer. • 13. A Solid Home Essay Hello everyone! Welcome to our first meeting for the production of A Solid Home . I am very excited about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For this production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want to start with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with stone walls, and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express the concept I wantto liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage wall would help create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blockingas we could have the characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their reincarnations. Next, I want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the more neutral side, coming in colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The place should also look lived in, should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books and knickknacks on any tables. This will allow the characters to stand out, as they are the life of the play and their home is more than just a crypt. Next, talking about the characters, I have... • 14. How Did Rene Descartes Use Methodic Doubt Rene Descartes was first and for most a mathematician, and when coming up with his new mathematic theories he wanted to create a method to make knowledge completely certain and undoubtable by his critics, through his knowledge of philosophy he came up with methodic doubt. Methodic doubt is a way of finding out what knowledge can be trusted (essentially undoubtable knowledge) by systematically doubting everything. Descartes used methodic doubt because he believed that if we say that we know and understand reality or existence that our claim to knowing that must be based on irrefutable evidence rather then just assumption. He likened it to taking a barrel of apples, going through them one by one and putting the sound ones back . Therefore Descartes went about using methodic doubt as a way to create a firm foundation for these beliefs by first doubting all knowledge, reality and our own existence. In his first meditation Descartes doubts all our senses saying that there is no way to prove that they are not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this argument is flawed because we know that we are being deceived by our senses in this case because we know when our senses are wrong only because we also know when they are right and that we are not being ... She is a struggling girl who wants to be free and go out and be free, although, she cannot. She speaks about how much she dislikes where she is living and she wishes she could be somewhere else, although, she has seen worse things happen outside. As she talks about her current living status and her memories, she incorporates or talks about them very well. In this passage or section, she uses rhetorical strategies to add a different feel and perception of her life. She also speaks about why sometimes it is worth being stuck or cramped in a tiny place, due to some of the horrors she has witnessed or seen from the outside world. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast time passes the play shows Joe s brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on the same way that it always did even when all these people die. This all changed once I met Chan Young Jeon, or as known as CY. Despite my traumatizing childhood, CY helped me experience a better life with his compassion, diligence, and creativity. At first, I did not know what to do because usually, no one would go up to me. When he struck a conversation, I began to mumble and he could tell I was scared. As he realized this, he took me around the school and I asked him questions such as How is the community here? Are they friendly? When I asked him these questions, he immediately knew I got bullied frequently. He began to introduce me to some of his friends and taught me how to socialize. Out of curiosity, I asked him Why are you helping me? He replied back I know you have been through a rough patch and you seem like you need a friend to guide you. I began to understand why he was compassionate towards other people. He did this to make sure that they are not alone in this and lending a helping hand allows other people to not feel abandoned. Every gas molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of the universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has given every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for over three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not able to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a sustained circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin s theory as the struggle for life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only represent the species struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is interdependent with one another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each other if they grow close to one another. And if a mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its existence [now] depends on birds (Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is then similar to the flow of energy explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds becomes the container for the transfer of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be dissipated as work for the bird to fly from one place to another, if not the energy would be transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this seems as if evolution acts on every species with the thought of a certain ethics that the species must followed which formed a strict system. The deregulation of the market opened up many opportunities for the company; however, it first had to overcome many obstacles. For example, BlueWater had to overcome the challenges associated with the large scale merger of six local utilities. Another issue was that they had very limited IT resources throughout the deregulation process. Finally, they had to upgrade their outdated system. These were the obstacles present throughout the merger during Ontario s deregulation of energy markets. A management factor was that responsible for the issues during the merger was combining the leaders of six organizations into one. When an earthquake occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O radicals. This makes them extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various reactions once they reach the surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). The oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in damp areas gives sufficient evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active electrolytes and toad s skins are permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of H2O2 to the presence of an earthquake in the near future. Heraclitus and Parmenides both recognized that the materials which make up the universe could be broken down to one basic substance, but they came to disagreement over what that basic substance was exactly, as well as the state of being. Heraclitus believed that everything was fire (or made of fire), and that it was the fundamental source of change in the universe because a main property of the universe was that it was in a constant state of changing. Parmenides argued that the entire idea of change was impossible and that the universe was essentially unmoving and unchanging. • 55. Climate Change Is An Important Issue That Concerns Humanity Climate change is an important issue that concerns humanity. Climate change refers to an increase in average global temperatures. Every day, the enhanced greenhouse effect continues to advance, which significantly influences Earth s long term climate. In addition, human activity is also contributing to the increase of global warmingand is already leading to harmful consequences. Some people believe that global warming is not occurring and the heating of the globe, is just a part of the Earth s natural cycle. Several consequences such as, ice caps melting, show us that global warming is in fact occurring. Therefore, we should start making changes in order to reduce future damages to the Earth. The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is one of the many reasons why global warming is occurring. Heat that is being trapped by the Earth s surface is known as the natural greenhouse effect. However, throughout the last decades since the Industrial Revolution, the natural greenhouse effect has been disrupted due to greenhouse gas trapping too much heat in the Earth s atmosphere. The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is the extra heating of the Earth s atmosphere caused by increased levels of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, in the atmosphere. According to Cheryl Jakabs, carbon dioxide levels are now 100 parts per million higher than the beginning of the 1800s. Furthermore, this increase of greenhouse gases may lead to an increase of natural disasters. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
