and the New World. When I visited the museum I noticed a wide variety of artifacts. The Old
world side contained pieces from many Old World countries, while the New World side featured
a lot of pieces that are from local areas. Since there was such a vast number of artifacts at the
Cobb Museum, I have decided to focus on the clay vessels and etchings in the Old and New World.

A few Fridays ago in the west end of downtown, Davenport I was walking into my friend s house
with her son Bentley. The first thing we always do is talk about his school day. He got very
excited and threw a big, brown sack at me. I slowly opened it up and realized it was a heavily
packed lunch bag. Bentley went on to explain that his school sends food home with all the
children on the weekends, because most of them cannot afford much to eat, especially on the
weekends. I had never seen a school that went out of its way to help children that are in such
desperate need. I wish all school districts went above and beyond like Bentley s does; however
that is not always the case. Across the United States, elementary school employees/officials need to
be more actively aware of the impact povertyhas on young children s academics. Children living

million students get free or cut rate lunches at school, and many of them get breakfast, too

In the film, The Emotional Life there was a very interesting episode called Family, Friends and
Lovers . Family, Friends and Lovers reminded me of situations that I have experienced in the past.
I can honestly relate to this episode in so many ways, such as my outlook on family and friends.
The first few people that babies ever know are their family. Infants value their mother/caregiver
more than anyone. From birth they tend to form a bond with their caregiver, in which is known
as attachment. Due to their family members being the first people they interact with they learn

In the past decade, a pattern has emerged of large corporations choosing to contract their labour to
foreign countries in order to remain competitive. However, companies tend to relocate production
to the poorest nations where labour is cheap and output is chief. As a result, outsourcing labour has
made multinational companies subject to criticism for their immoral practices. This has created the
classic ethical debate as to whether it is possible for multinationals to engage in developing nations
in both an ethical and lucrative manner. For businesses, the difficulty is if one of these values
should be favoured over the other.
In this paper, I will argue that ethical dilemmas, like outsourcing labour, are best approached using
the algorithm suggested by Thomas Donaldson; showing that businesses can engage aboard within
an ethical manner. To begin I will examine how Donaldson s guiding principles and core human
values (Donaldson 173) can exist despite different values across cultures. Next, I will consider his
premise of ethical leadership and its use in the multinational firm. Having defended these positions,
I will then compare his work to that of Ian Maitland. I will specifically address how Maitland s
arguments do not successfully defend the human rights of international employees. This will
demonstrate that Donaldson s argument is more suitable for ethically driven corporations and sets a
positive precedent for future ethical conduct.

1: Thermoplastic which is hot plastic, that means it can be poured into molds and then cooled

Language is a topic that will never cease to adapt, from slang being developed in suburbs of urban
cities, to new additions to the Oxford dictionary. We, students of English, use different concepts of
language almost everyday and most of the time we don t even realize it. To get a better
understanding of the English language and concepts developed within it, one would turn to look at
the arguments of scholars including George Orwell, Nancy Mairs, S.I. Hayakawa, Nicholas Carr,
and the dispute of the Sunlight Foundation and Senator Mike Quigley. All of these authors have an
argument for how language is being developed and molded into this day and age, and for the
modern English student, our questions and curiosities will be looked into furthermore as the topics
