Taylor Swifts
At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stormed the stage, and vehemently declared that
Beyonce s music video was better than winner Taylor Swifts. The two nominated videos for best
music video by a female performer were: Taylor Swifts You Belong With Me , and Beyonce s Single
Ladies.
While the videos were nominated for the same award, they are significantly different. Mainly due to
the fact that the genre s of the two artists are varied. Taylor Swift being a country singer, and Beyonce
a pop singer. Beyonce s video contributes to the pop genre consisting of urban contemporary, and
dance style. Most commonly using a repeated chorus, and a hook: a rhythmic phrase making the song
catchy, and appealing to the audience. Equally, Taylor Swifts video contributes greatly to the country
genre, and the love story, the song and video are trying to capture.
The quality of the two videos is remarkable, with both showing the performance of the artists to their
advantage. Taylor Swifts video is very bright, and all of the actors particularly their expressions, ...

Beyonce s video shows a level of creativity suited to target audience; an adolescence and adult
audience, as the dance moves, and outfits can be provocative at times. Nonetheless, the memorable
dance moves and lyrics only add to the quality of the song. Conversely, Taylor Swifts level of
creativity is more suited to its wide range of viewers, due to the romantic story it shows. Using more
reserved acting and outfits, and a lighter ambiance with lanterns and flowers, the video is able to
portray a fairytale type of setting.
Both artists, Taylor Swift and Beyonce, have created exceptional music videos deserving of an award.
However, Kanye West was wrong to interrupt the MTV Video Music Awards. As Taylor Swift
deserved to win best music video by a female performer due to the high quality of You Belong with

Mia Hebib- Bosnian Artist
Mia Hebib is a Bosnian born artist based out of New York, who works primarily in jewelry design and
sculptural forms. She was in a show called Islam Contemporary at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts
on August 2, 2013. Mia Hebib started her education as a jewler at the School for Applied Arts and
Design in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2001, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals and Jewelry from
the Savannah College of Art and Design. Mia moved to New York City to continue her exploration in

look.
Mia Hebib s piece, Irregularities , a set of stackable rings, is comparable to The Bobrinsky Bucket .
The Bobrinsky Bucket is a brass work and is augmented in a way that makes it a luxury object; two
artisans, a caster and a decorator, out of brass with copper and silver inlay , made it. This is a vessel
that is meant to wish positive experiences to the owner through its inscriptions and imagery. The
inscriptions, in some spots, look like they are playing bat gammon, drinking, and playing music.
Another band contains an inscription that sends good wishes to the owner. This inscription is hard to
read because there are human and animals forms in this inscription. The third register is again, good
wishes. The last register is a bunch of horsemen hunting and fighting. On the rim of the bucket is
another inscription that says who ordered it and for who it was made and who made it. On the handle
it tells us that the vessel was made in 1163. This vessel would have been used for bathing in a
bathhouse. There are manuscript images depicting bathhouses with people of the upper class using
vessels shaped like the

Cahokian Chief Research Paper
The Cahokian Chief is a ruler of our Mississippian civilization. The political structure that Cahokia
operates under is a chiefdom in which the chief is a hereditary leader over a group of towns.
Chiefdoms are based on the communal culture of gift giving and commercial links and trade routes
and this is what supports our city. The chief has the most power over us he controls our land and
economy and the rest of us are considered subordinate to our chief. A part of the chief s job is to
organize us through different obligations such as tribute, shared labor, and rituals. We tend to the
fertile land, which provides us with an abundance of maize, beans, and squash. The land is so fertile
along the Mississippian river where we live; we attribute the abundance of maize to our corn goddess.
The agriculture we tend to is delivered to the chief and to neighboring communities whether it is a gift
or a debt. The chief is so powerful that most of the communities nearby tend to owe our chief tribute
or to pay off a debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chief organizes religious rituals and feast rituals relating to our spirituality. We focus on the
religion of the earth, of nature, and the changing seasons. The woodhenges relate with the passage of
the sun over the course of the year. Other spiritual aspects we are guided by include the four
directions. We practice a spiral snake dance, and it is related to the changing seasons or solstices. The
chief is the closest to the gods because he lives atop of the mounds in a temple, which is a testimony
to his power over us as well as the respect we have for him as the most powerful and elite member of
Cahokia. Separate from the elite, the rest of us live in wooden huts because we are not related to or as

The most obvious advantage of video marketing is that it s so highly engaging. The human brain has
evolved in order to pay attention to moving images and sounds and this is why we are naturally
inclined to stop and watch the television when it s on in the background. Have you ever been talking
to someone when there s a television in the room only to notice that they re actually looking straight
past you and at the screen? The sound could be off and it could even be playing adverts but still some
people will be almost unable to turn away. This isn t anything personal (usually), it s just a perfect
example of how moving images hold our attention.
Another great example is a classroom. Do you remember when the teacher would say they were going
to put on a video for a particular lesson? Even the noisiest of classes would fall silent and become very
well behaved at this point even when the topic of the video wasn t anything particularly interesting.
Video has an almost hypnotic quality and this is an excellent trait for any internet

Thomas Hobbes Theory That Absolute Monarchy Is The Best...
Human nature signifies the set of principles that define how mankind operates on a daily basis.
Generations have often debated the nature of man, with both optimistic and cynical views.
Government represents the organized structure that controls man. In Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes
advocates for an absolute monarchy to keep citizens well behaved because man is inherently self
interested. John Locke, on the other hand, depicts in Second Treatise of Government that a bipartite
political society is the ideal form of government because we are in a state of nature and are free to do
as we please. Hobbes theory that absolute monarchy is the best form of government because man is in
a constant state of war is a sound assertion because humans have conflicting desires that create a state
of war, humans form government to alleviate the state of war, and absolute monarchy provides the
most efficient means of providing security that is absent in a state of war. Hobbes articulates a
materialist view of man, which asserts life is but a motion of limbs, (Leviathan 3) and that all men are
composed of the same materials. It thereby follows that men, or simply matter in motion, desire the
same things because they are composed of the same things. Man s similarities go beyond merely his
composition. Man relies on certain necessities in order to maintain life. These necessities, such as the
need to eat food and drink water, correspond to all of mankind. Therefore, in order to preserve life,

The Human Papillomavirus and How to Prevent Its Spread
Human Papillomavirus and How to Prevent Its Spread Public Health Problem Human papillomavirus,
commonly abbreviated as HPV, is the most common sexually transmitted virus that can cause a
variety of diseases. It is transferred from person to person by either genital contact or from oral
contact. Most men and women who are sexually active will be infected with this virus at least once in
their life ( HPV ). A reason why HPV has become such a big problem in society is because of the fact
that it is a virus, and thus cannot be treated with antibiotics. For other viral infections, it is possible to
wait for the body s immune system to rid the body of the foreign invader, but HPV is a virus that can
cause more serious health problems such as genital warts, cancers of the mouth, anus, or vagina, as
well as the cervix. Another reason why this problem exists in society may be due to more relaxed
standards regarding sexual activity. In today s society, people are more likely to have more than one
sexual partner, making it easier for the virus to spread within the population. People are also becoming
sexually active at younger ages before they receive education about safe sex at school or at home,
which is also a factor in the spread of HPV in the population. Most people do not exhibit negative
symptoms from the virus; indeed, some of them may not even know they have contracted it, for the
body can clear out the virus on its own ninety percent of the time ( What is HPV? 2013). HPV

Kind Project Malawi
Tony collins
Many people in Malawi don t have much money. A lot of families have issues sending their children to
school because of this. The kind fund help families and schools in Malawi with these issues. Malawi is
among the smallest countries in Africa, and the poorest country in the world. The kind project,
sponsored by unicef and MSNBC, have collaborated to develop and improve the education in Malawi.
This essay will explore how the kind project started, why they chose Malawi and the impact it has had
on the country.

This quote connects to what the kind fund did for the children in malawi. That is because the kind
fund made learning conditions in schools better. Having a better education can help improve a
community. The quote is saying it is a key to having a better life, and that is true because if people don
t have a good education they can t make their life better.
The kind project has made up to 15,000 dollars for students desks, and 7 million total. Lawrence O
donnell says that donating desks for schools makes it better to have a school scholarship. People have
not been just paying with money but have donating money online. The kids were overjoyed because
now they can have a better education, but this also makes people who helped out with the kind fund
glad. This is because they were able to make an attempt to make the kids in malawi have a better life.
The kind project has helped a lot of people in Malawi and helped them learn a lot faster and better.
The KIND fund helped the children because sitting on desks is better than on the ground. Also
because they are on desk in might help them focus better. Many of kids are a better and smarter person
from before. The project also wants kids to learn more each day too because the kids love the new

Toaster Oven Essay
We have all had days where we just need one little piece of toast browned to perfection and not have
to turn on an entire oven and heat up the whole kitchen in the process. Or other times when you have a
house full coming over, and it seems as if you need just more oven rack to bake the rolls on or to keep
a dish warm while the meat finishes up cooking. Or maybe, it is a summer evening and a pizza sounds
amazing except the kitchen is still blazing from a record setting heat wave blasting through, and the
last thing you want to do is generate more heat in your kitchen.
The list of examples could go on and on as to why a toaster oven is an extremely essential kitchen
appliance to own alongside your conventional oven. Its small size, versatile ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Along with saving money on energy because of its stature, the small size allows the toaster oven to fit
just about anywhere in the kitchen. Due to its compact size, a toaster oven can sit on top of other
appliances or on countertops, making it an easy appliance to place in the kitchen.
The size you choose determines what items you can cook inside. Obviously, the larger the toaster
oven, the higher the cost. However, considering you can use your toaster oven in much the same way
you can use a conventional oven, investing in a larger toaster oven is prudent.
Different Cooking Elements
Toaster ovens have various cooking elements, depending on what you are looking for. Many of them
come with a convection function. This means generated heat is continually circulated throughout the
oven by means of a fan. The movement creates an even cooking environment, ensuring that the top
and the bottom are cooked evening. That means heat spots are eliminated: one area of a pan of cookies
does not cook more than another. Convection ovens also cut cooking down by almost a third, saving
you not only time but also electricity and of course,

Comparison of the Opening Sequences of Two Different...
Comparison of the Opening Sequences of Two Different Versions of Romeo and Juilet The objective
of this essay is to compare two different film adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juilet.
Franco Zefferelli directed the first rendition of this play in 1968. This was the more conventional,
traditional version of the play. It was slow, peaceful, and in my opinion, how Shakespeare would ve
wanted it. Despite it being old, it was a beautiful interpretation of Shakespeare s tragic love story.
Here, Leonard Whiting played Romeo and Olivia Hussey played Juilet. The whole cast were kitted out

After these scenes, the prologue is spoken, while the camera pans across the landscape of the
imaginary Verona city. The narrator s voice is soothing and evocative, which again makes the audience
feel at peace. Following the reading of the prologue, the camera quickly goes down to the market
scene. Here, the atmosphere changes. The contrast here is noticeable, as it goes from a peaceful
landscape scene, to the hustle and bustle of the market. This gives the audience an idea of things to
come. The scene starts with the Capulets merrily walking along, joking, and on the whole, being very
light hearted. Next, the camera focuses on the Montagues, who are portrayed as being a lot more
serious Dark clothes, no jokes, then, after some puzzling literature, a big fight breaks out between the
two rivals. Here, the audience can identify with the characters, as there are some pretty good close ups
of the characters faces, which show strong emotions fear (Benvolio), hatred (Tybalt). The slow build
up also helps the audience to identify with the characters. The Luhrmann version opens with the
prologue being read by a newsreader on a miniscule television screen. This immediately suggests to
the audience that the film is going to be situated in the 20th century. This also tells the audience that
this whole affair is a big event the main fact being that it s a

Drinking College Campuses
Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in
Cintroƌn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A Sober
Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps taken to
address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals enter college, it
is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking age or do not.
Many of these college students, specifically freshmen, are experiencing freedom for the first time in
their lives and it can be relatively easy for them to get carried away, resulting in irresponsible decision
making which often involves alcoholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rather than being able to learn from his poorly made decision, Carson s life came to an abrupt end.
At the end of the day, if an individual over consumes alcohol, that shouldn t be the last decision they
make. A person s life, dreams and future shouldn t depend another s hesitation to call for medical

Analyzing Rachel Carsonā€™s ā€œthe Obligation to Endureā€ Essay
Analyzing Rachel Carson s The Obligation to Endure In her essay The Obligation to Endure , Rachel
Carson alerts the public to the dangers of modern industrial pollution. She writes about the harmful
consequences of lethal materials being released into the environment. She uses horrifying evidence, a
passionate tone, audience, and the overall structure of her essay to express to her readers that the
pollution created by man wounds the earth. There are many different ways that pollution can harm the
environment, from the nuclear explosions discharging toxic chemicals into the air, to the venomous
pesticides sprayed on plants that kills vegetation and sickens cattle. The adjustments to these
chemicals would take generations. Rachel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an efficient strategy. It makes her audience want to get involved and preserve the natural
resources the environment has to offer. In her essay she describes the devastating effects chemicals
have on the environment with such conviction; it might make the reader feel obligated to make
changes in his or her own life to help the natural world. Rachel Carson uses an assertive tone to get
her point across. She has a one sided argument and is very aggressive to those who oppose her point
of view. She is very effective at stating her opinion to her audience. In her essay Rachel Carson targets
anyone who will listen as her audience. She wants to inform human beings of the effects chemicals
have on the environment. Rachel Carson s audience had little knowledge of the effects radiation and
pesticides might have on nature or to themselves. She successfully enlightened her audience to the
harm man was causing to the environment not only presently, she also wrote of future ramifications.
She predicts Future historians may well be amazed by our distorted sense of proportion. How could
intelligent beings seek to control a few unwanted species by methods that contaminated the entire
environment...? (Carson 615). This statement might make her audience scrutinize their actions through
the eyes of future generations. Rachel Carson used cause and effect, problem and solution, compare

you asked a Native American what the Trail of Tears means to them, you would have a vivid picture of
pain, heartache, and disappointment painted for you. It started when President Andrew Jackson

Impossible Job Of Child Protective Services
Impossible Job of Child Protective Services The article immediately starts out with a gruesome horror
story that no child should have to endure. Then talks about the history of the cycle we have fallen into.
child protective services has been driven by horror stories that have become a meta narrative: social
workers screw up by missing the telltale signs of abuse, kids get hurt, laws are reformed, and thus
more at risk children are taken out of their homes and given to loving adoptive families. then goes to
say that they do not live happily ever after. That only 20% of kid come out of the system well

childrens deaths and that is why the system takes kids. The media expects you to remove kids at the
warning signs, but not too early because you will be portrayed as a monster if you violate parents
right. Warning signs do not predict the future, just because a police officer interviews a man who is
black and poor, and has committed a crime before and they think he will commit a crime again, they
can not arrest them. The police officer who had an interview with the man is not going to get blamed
for not taking the man off the streets if that man leaves the interview and commits a crime. So why
would a social worker get the blame? The article basically paints Child Protective Services workers as
racists legalized kidnappers. The removal of children into the system

Steps Into The World Of Virtual Reality
Blog 4 SlotsMillion steps into the world of virtual reality
It is a concept that has been discussed in one form or another since the 1980s. Virtual reality (VR) is
something that various industry sectors have looked to innovate, but few outside of the video game
industry have managed to do such. In fact, most virtual reality products have fallen flat on their face.
Looking to learn lessons from past misgivings, SlotsMillion are now looking to bring online casino
players a dose of virtual reality.
VR in many ways is considered to be the next logical step for the online casino industry. Largely as
through the current flat platform there is little else that can be done outside what already has been
achieved. The live casino concept does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

selection is somewhat limited. But even though that s the case there are still over 40 titles on hand to
members including Starburst, Go Bananas, Dracula Steam Tower, Gonzo s Quest, Magic Portals, and
a few other select games. All things considered, the game selection features various mainstream
classics with many major new names set to be added in the months to come.
360 Degree Entertainment
It started with 2D animated online games back in the late 1990s and it has all grown from there.
Through 3D games and live casino games, we have reached a point where an online casino can now
through VR provide players with true 360 degree entrainment. When a player visits SlotsMillion
through an Oculus Rift headset they will be transported to a realm that is brimming with interactivity.
Players can freely move and look around as they wish and are able to interact with the game in front
of them. All games have been a given a 3D refresh too to make sure they look the part when viewed
through a VR headset. SlotsMillion are truly striking new ground with their latest innovation and it
could present the start of a new era in online casino gaming.

Argumentative Essay On French Fries
First, have you ever wonder what homemade French fries taste like? Well, for me it tastes like a

cause it s hot. By the time I m done frying the fries it should be cool enough to eat. I believed her.
However, something inside me kept saying something was wrong, but I mean my mom didn t say
anything so it couldn t be bad. Right?
When the fries were done, they looked good! The nuggets looked like they came out of Wendy s, and
honestly smelled even better. I got my plate ready and started to put five nuggets on my plate. My
sister was right: the nuggets were not hot, but warm, and the fries were freshly hot. I put a ton of fries
on my plate, sat down, and began to eat the fries. Thank you, Lee! I said. Lee turn and said, You re
welcome Hector. I want you to have the best of the best. I held my breath and didn t say anything after
she replied. Honestly, it tasted somewhat different from normal restaurant fries, but because she was
so happy, I didn t want to hurt her feelings so I continued eating. She sat down next to me and we both
eat together.
Minutes later, my stomach started to hurt really bad. I told Lee, I feel sick. She replied, Then go to the
bathroom. Right then I turned around and threw up. Everything I ate and drank was on the floor. Lee
yelled out to my mom and she rushed to help clean everything up. I ran to the

Causes and Consequences of Human Trafficking in Haiti Essay
Throughout the globe, whether a country is highly developed or unstable, all countries must face the
issue of humanitarian crisis. These misfortunes can be triggered by human action or can occur
involuntarily. Ranging from natural disasters, to diseases, to internal or external conflict, each has
been proven to be detrimental to the stability of the society. Haiti has recently gotten attention for
being simultaneously affected by multiple crises; each of which helps to place Haiti in a trap which
they cannot lift themselves out of without foreign intervention and aid. Organizations such as the
Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network (JUHAN), a collaboration between Jesuit
universities, are in place hoping to promote awareness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Officials in Haiti estimate that an overwhelming 90,000 to 120,000 children are currently forced into
this practice, reflecting greatly on the lack of economic stability and growth within the country (2005
Trafficking in Persons Report). When thinking of sexual exploitation, forced prostitution and rape are
often the first to come to mind; however, women of Haiti have been noted to consciously choose to
exploit themselves. Furthermore, women will trade sex for a goods, shelter, or even security, in turn
causing sex to be classified as an income generating strategy (Kempadoo, 84). According to a statistic
pulled in 1984, 30 percent of the prostitutes from Haiti or from the Dominican Republic were between
fifteen and twenty years old (Benoit, 39). Consequently, the numbers of individuals affected by
trafficking in Haiti is evident of the presence and nature of crisis occurring.
Haiti is extremely susceptible to the humanitarian crisis of human trafficking due to their unstable
government, lack of law enforcement, and static economy. Although Jean Bertrand Aristide held the
position of president, the society still suffered from brutal acts of violence. Due to the fear of being
overthrown, the military acted in this way to divest the Haitian people of their freedoms (Americas
Watch, 1). However, subsequent to Aristide s resignation in early 2004, Haiti continued to struggle to
gain control

Decameron And The Canterbury Tales
Through out the end half of the semester, all the stories have had to face death, either their own or they
were the ones doing the killing. The action of death ends up helping the characters grow like within
The Decameron and even Hamlet has some growing points. Not only was death a main factor but all
these stories are super long and some tend to be hard to follow and keep track of like Beowulf and The
Canterbury Tales, were they bounce from one story to the other. To compare these four stories to death
would not be hard, mainly because it s a prominent aspect to the stories but the reason for the deaths
are all different, in The Decameron and The Canterbury Tales there is a major death that happens in

Beowulf gets called to take care of a monster problem for his friend Hrothgar who is the King of the
Danes and his people are getting slaughtered by a monster called Grendel. Long story short, he kills
Grendel and that upset Grendel s mother, who is like a troll, so now Beowulf has to deal with Grendel
s mother, which he does. After slaying the monsters, receiving gold, land from his own king, King of
the Geats, Beowulf doesn t die for many years until he has to go kill a dragon, which he dies from the
poison from the dragon not from the loss of blood. All of this is relevant because being the one to
bring death make Beowulf a hero and a king, he doesn t just grow but flourishes. He has already done
all the growing up needed to conquer all the problems he may encounter; he probably would have
survived the dragon bite if it was not for the poison. Death comes to Beowulf like it does to everyone
but that doesn t stop his story because someone wrote it down.
To finish this semester with these four stories, which where all centered around death and all had two
main common factors, death was either praised or mourned. Which is death is seen as a bad thing but
it is comes to the best and worst of us. Death tells a lot about the person who died, who it affected and

Modern America and the Diminishing Individual
In his essay Modern America and the Diminishing Individual , Peter Cooper talks about how today
there is an absence of genuine compassion for one another. Copper opens his essay by stating The
impudence, indifference, self centeredness, evidenced by some Americans are symptomatic of
contemporary national malaise (70). Which basically means that our attitude for self is like a sickness
in our society today. He goes on to say Individual significance in society commonly diminishes in
direct proportion to the number of people (70). He expresses that the reason for this being is that

Today you would be lucky to even know your neighbors names. The term love thy neighbor as you
love yourself is not really relevant anymore. Why? You see in today s society we only feel the need to
associate ourselves with people that can potentially help us. We are so focused on what we can get out
of people that we no longer value each other.
We have become so self indulgent that it has this have become the norm, so much that for us we are
unaware of when we are doing it. Recently my Uncle called me and asked me how I was doing, as we
further ventured into our conversation, he asked me if I could ask my coach to let him rent the gym.
Although he called me, he really did not want to know how I was he wanted me to do a favor for him.
He only asked how I was doing because it was the polite thing to do. Oddly enough you would think
that the one group of people who are supposed to honestly care for you would be your family. Even
your family is not exempt from this behavior. They find ways to use you for things rather than to see
how you are doing, and getting to know you. Often times we are victims of this, we do things like this
unconsciously, and we use people rather than building a relationship with them. We neglect what we
are actually doing and we continue to operate with selfish motives and are blind to the fact that we are
actually doing it.

What is over reaching? The definition may be unclear in many retrospects, but the true definition is
certain areas in knowledge that humans should not explore or cross . Throughout history there has

The first frame is the letters of Robert Walton to his sister, Margaret Seville, in these letters the reader
discovers that Walton is in pursuit of glory and knowledge that no one knows. During his conquest,
Walton finds himself stuck in the ice of the North Pole, he desires to continue his conquest, but slowly
he s destroying his crew s lives and losing their loyalty to him. The middle frame of the novel exhibits
that Victor Frankenstein s over reaching causes the seclusion of his friends and family, which starts
after the commencement of his creature. When Victor s seclusion begins, his focus has mostly turned
to natural philosophy. Frankenstein spent much time in this state, not once going home, but solely
focusing all his attentions on the natural philosophy of physiology. My cheeks had grown pale with

quote that Victor has almost completely secluded himself by working on this new species. ...my

The Ho, Roberts And Gelman Article, Essentialism And...
The Ho, Roberts and Gelman article Essentialism and Racial Bias Jointly Contribute to the
Categorizations of Multiracial Individuals examined the joint effects of cognitive biases and social
biases on hypodescent. Loosely, hypodescent can be defined as individuals penchant to categorize
mixed race individuals into solely the race of the minority category (Ho et al., 2015). While previous
studies have examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivation on hypodescence
respectively, the authors were motivated by the dearth of available studies that examined the effects of
cognitive biases and social motivations jointly. Since both cognitive biases and social motivations
require higher levels of cognitive processes, it can be inferred that the researchers would endorse a top
down view of perception, especially when it comes to racial categorization (Psych 240 Lecture
9/14/15). The researchers hypothesized that subjects who exhibited essentialist thinking the belief that
individuals belong to specific discrete groups in which members share inextricable qualities in
conjunction with high levels of anti black bias would exhibit hypodescence, by categorizing Black
White multiracial individuals into solely a Black racial category. Since essentialism plays an integral
role in the article, it is fruitful to examine the concept using different perspectives. Perhaps the most
obvious way to think of racial essentialism is to view it in the terms of categorization. In

Hope In Elie Wiesel s Night
This section of the book proved to be one of the most suspenseful and thrilling parts of Nyiszli s
nightmare. I didn t expect him to survive, but at the same time, how would he write this book? I
worried for the doctor because I knew the outlook of his future would be bleak. He would come home
without his wife or child. Without any money, he would not be able to afford anything back at home.
With his home probably destroyed from the war, he would not have anything to come back to.
Survival was meaningless to him, but he still continued to push through the adversity. All in all, I
enjoyed the ending. I was not expecting him to be so happy at the end. In fact, I thought he would
spend the rest of his days and sadness, but with hope, miracles can happen.
I am actually quite shocked the Dr. Nyiszli survived after the fall of Auschwitz. despite the cold
weather, the unrelenting march, and the little food and sleep, he able to defy all odds and survive.
Unfortunately, his friends would all perish after the madness of the crematoriums and the forced
march. He would survive two concentration camps for months and keep pushing himself until his
freedom. He could have easily given up. He did not have any family or friends. He had witnessed
what no man should have witnessed, and he had no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

starving and sick, and their life was already coming to an end. The ones who survived did not have
much to look forward to after their time in the camp. It is a depressing thought that most fully recover
physically and mentally from this. I understand why; there were way too many awful events that
plagued a camp that sole purpose was to kill all the undesirable people. Most were not as lucky as Dr.
Nyiszli, and that is a heavy thought to

Moods of Norway
Moods of Norway case indicated many interesting issues relating to brand management study. In this
paper, first, we outline two key challenges that Moods are facing, then analyze the brand based on
CBBE pyramid, and finally suggest two marketing programs that the company should invest.
1. Key challenges
The first challenge facing Moods of Norway is expanding the business to U.S. This is always a
profitable but risky opportunity for every firm, including Moods of Norway. The company with free
styling wants to just go to the U.S. and see what happens (Austin, O Donnell, and Krogh 2009, 15).
However, U.S. market one of the most difficult markets in the world has many implicit challenges for
Moods. Firstly, their brand is unknown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this concept is highly successful in Norway, it is very difficult to apply to other markets.
This requires Moods to develop another story to tell in US market.
Brand Judgments
Brand Judgments and Brand Feelings are both of brand responses that elicit the proper customer
responses to this brand identification and brand meaning (Keller 2008, 60). From the performance and
imagery of Moods of Norway, we know partly about the customers evaluation of the brand. Following
the Possible Measures of Brand Building Blocks that is given by Keller (2008, 75), firstly, Moods
bring good value for customers. Indeed, they not only provide the clothing products for customer, but
also provide a chance to interact with their clothes by inscribing the lore on its inside. Customers
receive more value and feel more satisfied by Moods of Norway s fun stories. Secondly, in
comparison with standardized goods, fashion collections for the winter are not the same for the
summer and its change over years continuously. Hence, customers judge the brand based on the
success of previous products, other customers and especially in designers reputation. By borrowing
associations from its high qualified designers and owners, Moods become trustworthy and credible
brand (Keller 2008, 305). People buy their products because they can trust the Moods Boys
innovativeness and uniqueness. As mentioned in the case: When customers and partner companies

Essay on Growing Up in San Francisco- Personal Narrative
Growing Up in San Francisco Personal Narrative Although I was born in Salem, Oregon, my earliest
memories are from San Francisco, California. My parents came to California to start over and find a
better life. For a while we lived on a bus parked in front of a friend s house. When I was three years
old, we moved to Potrero Hill, an area of low income housing projects in the big city. A very famous
man, O.J. Simpson, grew up there, but that was before my time. Potrero Hill was a bad neighborhood,
so bad that you could not get a pizza delivered there and forget about calling the cops because they
would not come. I remember the first and last time I saw a cop drive through our ... Show more

My family was one of the few white families around. This made the struggle to survive the
neighborhood even harder than it was for others. It was a reverse racism I was teased because I am
white. Still, it did not make me prejudiced at all. My godmother was black and most of my friends
were black. I used to beg my godmother, Deanna, to put my hair in corn rolls, tiny braids with beads
on the end. It would take hours and was very painful, but I took the pain in order to fit in.
One of my best friends was Theresa, a Vietnamese girl. I ate at her house often and I absolutely loved
the food. My favorite was rice soup. We took our shoes off by the door. We sat on the floor at a short
table to eat with chopsticks. My other best friend was Michael. He was half white and half black. For
that reason, he was often teased and beaten because he was a zebra (that is what the black kids called
him). At the time, I was four years old and Michael was seven. Although my mother did not allow me
to leave our block, we sneaked out anyway. He showed me the ropes, the ins and outs of ghetto life.
He showed me how things worked in the hood the dangerous people to stay away from, like drug
dealers, how to get around safely from one neighborhood to another, and the neighborhoods to stay
away from. We also played house, dolls, hide and go seek all the childhood games while at the same
time managing to learn and adapt to this no nonsense environment.

Summary Of Scott Westerfeld s The Art Of Resilience
An expectation is, a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. In the words
of an anonymous writer, Be what you expect of yourself, not what others expect of you.
Correspondingly, Scott Westerfeld evokes a similar belief in his novel, The Uglies. Inside a society of
professed uglies, individuals are segregated by the ideological pretties. Ideally, the authorities of the
community anticipate all citizens to become pretty surgically. However, their expectations are not
valued by all. Moreover, The Uglies, in addition to two ancillary texts, The Art of Resilience by Hara
Marano, and The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, includes conflict, setting, and
characterization, which are all supportive of a general theme, that beauty is more than one s vanity.
Together with, creating the unifying idea that propels The Uglies, The Art of Resilience, along with
The Third and Final Continent, where everyone must be his or her own person not the person others
expect.
The evidence in The Uglies and The Art of Resilience is supported throughout the conflict. Conflict is
a literary device, meaning a serious disagreement or argument. Furthermore, the conflict justifies the
importance of staying true to one s own ambition. The Uglies current conflict, about special
circumstances and most uglies, is man versus man. Uglies affiliated with The Smoke, contained no
desire to become pretty, for they believed they would no longer be themselves.

A Midsummer Night s Dream
Love, before we can talk about it we must define it; then we can dissect it and reference it. Love is
defined in the dictionary as an intense feeling of deep affection. Throughout several of Shakespeare s
plays he speaks about love. It is a common theme throughout Shakespeare s plays, both comedies and
tragedies, and we can see that Shakespeare is infatuated with love. Shakespeare and I, though poles
apart, raised in different times, places, and even of different genders have one thing in common; we
both seem to be hopeless romantics. In Shakespeare s plays love seems like a very obtainable reality,
love conquers all if you believe in it and fight for it. This seems to go against societal structure in a
time where marriages were arranged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The couple has to overcome this problem to get what they want. Love plays a significant part in
human life, these characters were made to show how love influences them, how they live and become
better for it. To me it seems as though Shakespeare truly believes in love but not love without flaws. It
seems as though the flaws themselves can make love stronger or break love. It is hard to imagine that
someone could write so many stories and plays without a real definition of love or even without
inspiration. Richard II and Richard III both have pros and cons, but more cons than pros. When
Shakespeare wrote about these two kings it seems that in his mind his was writing about the negative
effects and attributes about being a king. King Richard II was an immature, adolescent acting,
irresponsible, neglectful king to say the least. As time and time again Richard the second proves his
incompetence, for instance, when Bolingbroke and Mowbray are in a disagreement, and point fingers
about the death of Bolingbroke s Uncle. They get so angry they throw down their hats to suggest they
want to duel. The king asks them to settle dispute, but they continue to bicker and so King Richard
sets a time and place for this duel to give the illusion that he is in control when he clearly is not and
just as they are about to duel, the king, to show his power, then exiles them both and they beg him not

Rhetorical Analysis Of `` The Necessary Art Of Persuasion ``
Today s business environment is fundamentally the same as it s always been. An individual gets into
business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many things
ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of
Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and
become fluid in the art of persuasion in the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of
persuasion is relative now more then ever.
In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive techniques
in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative. However, certain
aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years. Although the
fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the end goal is not.
Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is
communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order for
one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider persuasion
to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates and get them
to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. The old way to manage individuals is
similar to how military organizations do. These types of

How Did Netflix Pursue Movie Studios
Netflix could pursue movie studios if it can build up a higher number of customers who are watching
their exclusive shows. The con to a movie studio is the fact that there will be various expenses which
could result in removing part of their customers who enjoy the low 7.99 rate. Therefore Netflix would
become something that it is trying to compete against which is the bigger cable providers. An avenue
that Netflix is best suited for is creating original shows, and movies such as House of Cards. For
Netflix to take the next step it has to create at least one more show that has a national audience such as
the type of numbers that Breaking Bad, or Walking Dead has. This would pave the way for them to
create more of a fan base, and allow them

Lorely Rodriguez Me Essay
Me. It s a cryptic name for an album, a word that can mean so much and so little, and for Lorely
Rodriguez s Empress Of project, it s a fitting title. Me is interesting lyrically, and even more so
musically it s not exactly an exploration of the self as much as it is an inhabitation. That is, Rodriguez
uses her unique identity and experiences to craft balanced, adaptable songs that can be perceived as
intellectual or physical art, as food for thought or as primal messages. Me is such a well rounded and
confident record, yet there is a sense of ricketiness to it, as if it has no right to reach this high into the
stratosphere; there s very little wrong with it, though. With Me, Rodriguez has crafted a formidable
debut album: it s a self assured work that manages to be both experimental and accessible, an album
that never fails to please, whether you re embroiled in thought or swept onto the dancefloor.
Balance is a theme throughout the record; experimental and established pop methods run hand in
hand, as do the eclectically airy instrumentals with Rodriguez s simply delivered vocals. Perhaps the
most important duality here is one of beauty and ferocity; it s this harmony that ... Show more content

Ancient Egyptian Sports
In early Egypt, they had lots of sports, from handball to fishing to rowing. The Egyptians got creative
when it came to sports. Field hockey was a popular activity where they would use palm tree branches
and a papyrus to play. Rowing was also something very popular, people liked rowing to get to exercise
and compete. Rowing in ancient Egypt sports is no different than rowing today. Hunting was a fun
sport for Egyptians, especially archery, javelin, and fishing. Not all did these things to hunt, some just
for fun and for competition. The Nile was a good source to fish from and became very helpful. The
fishing poles looked similar to ones today, just obviously not as fancy.

  • 2. Taylor Swifts At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stormed the stage, and vehemently declared that Beyonce s music video was better than winner Taylor Swifts. The two nominated videos for best music video by a female performer were: Taylor Swifts You Belong With Me , and Beyonce s Single Ladies. While the videos were nominated for the same award, they are significantly different. Mainly due to the fact that the genre s of the two artists are varied. Taylor Swift being a country singer, and Beyonce a pop singer. Beyonce s video contributes to the pop genre consisting of urban contemporary, and dance style. Most commonly using a repeated chorus, and a hook: a rhythmic phrase making the song catchy, and appealing to the audience. Equally, Taylor Swifts video contributes greatly to the country genre, and the love story, the song and video are trying to capture. The quality of the two videos is remarkable, with both showing the performance of the artists to their advantage. Beyonce s video shows a level of creativity suited to target audience; an adolescence and adult audience, as the dance moves, and outfits can be provocative at times. Nonetheless, the memorable dance moves and lyrics only add to the quality of the song. Conversely, Taylor Swifts level of creativity is more suited to its wide range of viewers, due to the romantic story it shows. Using more reserved acting and outfits, and a lighter ambiance with lanterns and flowers, the video is able to portray a fairytale type of setting. Both artists, Taylor Swift and Beyonce, have created exceptional music videos deserving of an award. However, Kanye West was wrong to interrupt the MTV Video Music Awards. As Taylor Swift deserved to win best music video by a female performer due to the high quality of You Belong with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mia Hebib s piece, Irregularities , a set of stackable rings, is comparable to The Bobrinsky Bucket . The Bobrinsky Bucket is a brass work and is augmented in a way that makes it a luxury object; two artisans, a caster and a decorator, out of brass with copper and silver inlay , made it. This is a vessel that is meant to wish positive experiences to the owner through its inscriptions and imagery. The inscriptions, in some spots, look like they are playing bat gammon, drinking, and playing music. Another band contains an inscription that sends good wishes to the owner. This inscription is hard to read because there are human and animals forms in this inscription. The third register is again, good wishes. The last register is a bunch of horsemen hunting and fighting. On the rim of the bucket is another inscription that says who ordered it and for who it was made and who made it. On the handle it tells us that the vessel was made in 1163. This vessel would have been used for bathing in a bathhouse. There are manuscript images depicting bathhouses with people of the upper class using vessels shaped like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cahokian Chief Research Paper The Cahokian Chief is a ruler of our Mississippian civilization. The political structure that Cahokia operates under is a chiefdom in which the chief is a hereditary leader over a group of towns. Chiefdoms are based on the communal culture of gift giving and commercial links and trade routes and this is what supports our city. The chief has the most power over us he controls our land and economy and the rest of us are considered subordinate to our chief. A part of the chief s job is to organize us through different obligations such as tribute, shared labor, and rituals. We tend to the fertile land, which provides us with an abundance of maize, beans, and squash. The land is so fertile along the Mississippian river where we live; we attribute the abundance of maize to our corn goddess. The agriculture we tend to is delivered to the chief and to neighboring communities whether it is a gift or a debt. The chief is so powerful that most of the communities nearby tend to owe our chief tribute or to pay off a debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We practice a spiral snake dance, and it is related to the changing seasons or solstices. The chief is the closest to the gods because he lives atop of the mounds in a temple, which is a testimony to his power over us as well as the respect we have for him as the most powerful and elite member of Cahokia. The most obvious advantage of video marketing is that it s so highly engaging. The human brain has evolved in order to pay attention to moving images and sounds and this is why we are naturally inclined to stop and watch the television when it s on in the background. Have you ever been talking to someone when there s a television in the room only to notice that they re actually looking straight past you and at the screen? The sound could be off and it could even be playing adverts but still some people will be almost unable to turn away. This isn t anything personal (usually), it s just a perfect example of how moving images hold our attention. Another great example is a classroom. Do you remember when the teacher would say they were going to put on a video for a particular lesson? • 6. Thomas Hobbes Theory That Absolute Monarchy Is The Best... Human nature signifies the set of principles that define how mankind operates on a daily basis. Generations have often debated the nature of man, with both optimistic and cynical views. Government represents the organized structure that controls man. In Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes advocates for an absolute monarchy to keep citizens well behaved because man is inherently self interested. John Locke, on the other hand, depicts in Second Treatise of Government that a bipartite political society is the ideal form of government because we are in a state of nature and are free to do as we please. Hobbes theory that absolute monarchy is the best form of government because man is in a constant state of war is a sound assertion because humans have conflicting desires that create a state of war, humans form government to alleviate the state of war, and absolute monarchy provides the most efficient means of providing security that is absent in a state of war. Hobbes articulates a materialist view of man, which asserts life is but a motion of limbs, (Leviathan 3) and that all men are composed of the same materials. It thereby follows that men, or simply matter in motion, desire the same things because they are composed of the same things. Man s similarities go beyond merely his composition. Man relies on certain necessities in order to maintain life. These necessities, such as the need to eat food and drink water, correspond to all of mankind. Therefore, in order to preserve life, ... • 7. The Human Papillomavirus and How to Prevent Its Spread Human Papillomavirus and How to Prevent Its Spread Public Health Problem Human papillomavirus, commonly abbreviated as HPV, is the most common sexually transmitted virus that can cause a variety of diseases. It is transferred from person to person by either genital contact or from oral contact. Most men and women who are sexually active will be infected with this virus at least once in their life ( HPV ). A reason why HPV has become such a big problem in society is because of the fact that it is a virus, and thus cannot be treated with antibiotics. For other viral infections, it is possible to wait for the body s immune system to rid the body of the foreign invader, but HPV is a virus that can cause more serious health problems such as genital warts, cancers of the mouth, anus, or vagina, as well as the cervix. Another reason why this problem exists in society may be due to more relaxed standards regarding sexual activity. In today s society, people are more likely to have more than one sexual partner, making it easier for the virus to spread within the population. People are also becoming sexually active at younger ages before they receive education about safe sex at school or at home, which is also a factor in the spread of HPV in the population. Most people do not exhibit negative symptoms from the virus; indeed, some of them may not even know they have contracted it, for the body can clear out the virus on its own ninety percent of the time ( What is HPV? 2013). Or other times when you have a house full coming over, and it seems as if you need just more oven rack to bake the rolls on or to keep a dish warm while the meat finishes up cooking. Or maybe, it is a summer evening and a pizza sounds amazing except the kitchen is still blazing from a record setting heat wave blasting through, and the last thing you want to do is generate more heat in your kitchen. The list of examples could go on and on as to why a toaster oven is an extremely essential kitchen appliance to own alongside your conventional oven. Its small size, versatile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with saving money on energy because of its stature, the small size allows the toaster oven to fit just about anywhere in the kitchen. Due to its compact size, a toaster oven can sit on top of other appliances or on countertops, making it an easy appliance to place in the kitchen. The size you choose determines what items you can cook inside. Obviously, the larger the toaster oven, the higher the cost. However, considering you can use your toaster oven in much the same way you can use a conventional oven, investing in a larger toaster oven is prudent. Different Cooking Elements Toaster ovens have various cooking elements, depending on what you are looking for. Many of them come with a convection function. This means generated heat is continually circulated throughout the oven by means of a fan. The movement creates an even cooking environment, ensuring that the top and the bottom are cooked evening. That means heat spots are eliminated: one area of a pan of cookies does not cook more than another. Comparison of the Opening Sequences of Two Different Versions of Romeo and Juilet The objective of this essay is to compare two different film adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo Juilet. Franco Zefferelli directed the first rendition of this play in 1968. This was the more conventional, traditional version of the play. It was slow, peaceful, and in my opinion, how Shakespeare would ve wanted it. Despite it being old, it was a beautiful interpretation of Shakespeare s tragic love story. The narrator s voice is soothing and evocative, which again makes the audience feel at peace. Following the reading of the prologue, the camera quickly goes down to the market scene. Here, the atmosphere changes. The contrast here is noticeable, as it goes from a peaceful landscape scene, to the hustle and bustle of the market. This gives the audience an idea of things to come. The scene starts with the Capulets merrily walking along, joking, and on the whole, being very light hearted. Next, the camera focuses on the Montagues, who are portrayed as being a lot more serious Dark clothes, no jokes, then, after some puzzling literature, a big fight breaks out between the two rivals. Here, the audience can identify with the characters, as there are some pretty good close ups of the characters faces, which show strong emotions fear (Benvolio), hatred (Tybalt). The slow build up also helps the audience to identify with the characters. The Luhrmann version opens with the prologue being read by a newsreader on a miniscule television screen. Drinking College Campuses Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in Cintroƌn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A Sober Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking age or do not. The media expects you to remove kids at the warning signs, but not too early because you will be portrayed as a monster if you violate parents right. Warning signs do not predict the future, just because a police officer interviews a man who is black and poor, and has committed a crime before and they think he will commit a crime again, they can not arrest them. The police officer who had an interview with the man is not going to get blamed for not taking the man off the streets if that man leaves the interview and commits a crime. But I still had hope that she would learn how to cook and that it tastes... well... good. But I should have listened to my gut feeling, which was DON T EAT IT! However, something inside me kept saying something was wrong, but I mean my mom didn t say anything so it couldn t be bad. Right? When the fries were done, they looked good! The nuggets looked like they came out of Wendy s, and honestly smelled even better. I got my plate ready and started to put five nuggets on my plate. Lee turn and said, You re welcome Hector. I want you to have the best of the best. I held my breath and didn t say anything after she replied. Honestly, it tasted somewhat different from normal restaurant fries, but because she was so happy, I didn t want to hurt her feelings so I continued eating. She sat down next to me and we both eat together. Minutes later, my stomach started to hurt really bad. I told Lee, I feel sick. She replied, Then go to the bathroom. These misfortunes can be triggered by human action or can occur involuntarily. Ranging from natural disasters, to diseases, to internal or external conflict, each has been proven to be detrimental to the stability of the society. Haiti has recently gotten attention for being simultaneously affected by multiple crises; each of which helps to place Haiti in a trap which they cannot lift themselves out of without foreign intervention and aid. Officials in Haiti estimate that an overwhelming 90,000 to 120,000 children are currently forced into this practice, reflecting greatly on the lack of economic stability and growth within the country (2005 Trafficking in Persons Report). When thinking of sexual exploitation, forced prostitution and rape are often the first to come to mind; however, women of Haiti have been noted to consciously choose to exploit themselves. Furthermore, women will trade sex for a goods, shelter, or even security, in turn causing sex to be classified as an income generating strategy (Kempadoo, 84). According to a statistic pulled in 1984, 30 percent of the prostitutes from Haiti or from the Dominican Republic were between fifteen and twenty years old (Benoit, 39). Consequently, the numbers of individuals affected by trafficking in Haiti is evident of the presence and nature of crisis occurring. Haiti is extremely susceptible to the humanitarian crisis of human trafficking due to their unstable government, lack of law enforcement, and static economy. Although Jean Bertrand Aristide held the position of president, the society still suffered from brutal acts of violence. Due to the fear of being overthrown, the military acted in this way to divest the Haitian people of their freedoms (Americas Watch, 1). The Ho, Roberts and Gelman article Essentialism and Racial Bias Jointly Contribute to the Categorizations of Multiracial Individuals examined the joint effects of cognitive biases and social biases on hypodescent. Loosely, hypodescent can be defined as individuals penchant to categorize mixed race individuals into solely the race of the minority category (Ho et al., 2015). While previous studies have examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivation on hypodescence respectively, the authors were motivated by the dearth of available studies that examined the effects of cognitive biases and social motivations jointly. Since both cognitive biases and social motivations require higher levels of cognitive processes, it can be inferred that the researchers would endorse a top down view of perception, especially when it comes to racial categorization (Psych 240 Lecture 9/14/15). The researchers hypothesized that subjects who exhibited essentialist thinking the belief that individuals belong to specific discrete groups in which members share inextricable qualities in conjunction with high levels of anti black bias would exhibit hypodescence, by categorizing Black White multiracial individuals into solely a Black racial category. Since essentialism plays an integral role in the article, it is fruitful to examine the concept using different perspectives. Perhaps the most obvious way to think of racial essentialism is to view it in the terms of categorization. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the performance and imagery of Moods of Norway, we know partly about the customers evaluation of the brand. Secondly, in comparison with standardized goods, fashion collections for the winter are not the same for the summer and its change over years continuously. Hence, customers judge the brand based on the success of previous products, other customers and especially in designers reputation. By borrowing associations from its high qualified designers and owners, Moods become trustworthy and credible brand (Keller 2008, 305). In the words of an anonymous writer, Be what you expect of yourself, not what others expect of you. Correspondingly, Scott Westerfeld evokes a similar belief in his novel, The Uglies. Inside a society of professed uglies, individuals are segregated by the ideological pretties. Ideally, the authorities of the community anticipate all citizens to become pretty surgically. However, their expectations are not valued by all. Moreover, The Uglies, in addition to two ancillary texts, The Art of Resilience by Hara Marano, and The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, includes conflict, setting, and characterization, which are all supportive of a general theme, that beauty is more than one s vanity.
