A Picture Of Late Victorian London Of Sherlock Holmes Essay
Sherlock Holmes
How Conan Doyle created a picture of late Victorian London of Sherlock Holmes and how his
thinking even helped today s crime solving that was so intriguing that contemporary people living in
London at the time did not realize he was making most of it up. For decades after the time the stories
are set in people with a living memory of London deferred to Doyle s descriptions and how his stories
were related to crime scenes people thought were linked to real crimes in the Victorian age Finding the
reality in Sherlock Holmes detective stories and how they relate to real live events now. Author Conan
Doyle created this character who is a fictional character. Who would solve mysteries and crimes how
this is reflects to society today compared to the stories of Sherlock Holmes and what s happening in
the real world society and how Sherlock Holmes has changed the way we do things today in the crime
works. And what has he done to change the way we do things in society.
How has Sherlock Holmes play an effect in detective work when Sherlock Holmes did his
investigations he reveled them in tiny clues the guy left behind and looking for finger prints and foot
prints and any other clues that the criminals left behind in every case that Sherlock Holmes had. And
this lead to how people now figure out clues in crimes people make today detective today look for
fingerprints and any clues that Sherlock Holmes would have looked for which has brought which

Sentiment Analysis And Stock Market Prediction
This chapter discusses about the important work and procedures related to sentiment analysis and
stock market prediction done previously. These researches and publications are related to my
speculations and will further motivate with the end goal.
The approach used in this thesis is inspired by Bollen et al s strategy [12], with a step taken forward to
implement PageRank algorithm to increase the accuracy of results and use of different sentiment
analysis techniques than the techniques used by him. In 2010, Bollen used Twitter data for finding the
predictability of Twitter sentiments on stock market with high accuracy. He proposed a method for
prediction of the changes in the stock market price based on the mood of people on Twitter. ... Show

The second phase includes polarity classification in which corpus is classified into positive, negative,
both or neutral using 10 different features and 2 simple classifiers. Neutral polar classification and
polarity classification achieved an average accuracy of 75.9% and 65.7%.
Besides understanding the effects of twitter data and sentiment analysis, a large group of researchers is
attracted towards various types of predictions and their applications in various fields. Andrei Oghina
[28] predicted Internet Movie Database (IMDB) ratings by information retrieval from social media.
They hypothesized that the correlation can be found between the IMDB ratings and social media
signals related to movie artifacts (e.g. movie title) . In 2010, Andranik et. al. [29 ] analyzed tweets
which mentioned political parties and politician during German election 2009 and found that large
number of tweets reflects voter preferences. Also, there are researches speculating the fact that Twitter
can be used in areas like real time event detection like earthquakes [30], tracking the spread of
diseases [31].
There is also prior work in finding the correlations between social media and stock market. In 2010,
Gilbert and Karahalios [32] estimated anxiety and fear from a dataset of over 20 million posts from
LiveJournal site. They calculated an index of US national mood known as the Anxiety Index. Results
of this experiment showed that when the Anxiety Index rose, the S P 500 market ended

A Contest Of Smiles, The Smile, And Female Actors
To Smile Or Not To Smile In a contest of smiles, who would win women or men? That answer just so
happens to be women. But why women? According to Amy Cunningham in, Why Women Smile,
women smiles are automatic (though it can be true for either sex) as they are controlled by society s
expectations. Cunningham has even experienced this herself, from her friends and even her husband.
One of her friends told her that they associate her with her smile, calling it her essence and that she
should smile more (Cunningham 369). Her husband calls her smiling face unthreatening and because
of that demeanor, people like her in a fuzzy way, despite that not being her goal (369). Not only with
firsthand experience, Cunningham also pertains details from history, scientific evidence, and culture
into her article as well. From baby reflexes to Mona Lisa s mysterious smile and female actors, she
uses her information in a way that people can accumulate some sort of connection of what she s
writing into their lives. Connecting one personal story or experience to another can make people
empathize, especially if the general target audience is towards to women as per this article. Using this,
Cunningham uses her personal connective approach and informative evidence to prove that smiles of
the womanly kind are being used too much and used wrongly. In this case, I agree with Cunningham s
point in her explanation about the reason why women really smile by how she utilizes her approach in

Elements of a Fulfilling and Successful Database Adminstrator
Elements of a Fulfilling and Successful DBA My objective is to achieve a senior level Database
Administrator position for a leading provider of technology services in support of the US government.
After gaining ample experience, I plan to capitalize on my technical expertise and work as a freelance
consultant. Economically speaking, technological advancement has been a major cause of job
displacement, however, automated machines require technical knowledge to design, develop,
implement and maintain. Consequently, IT related positions are still in high demand. The Database
Administrator role includes the development and design of database strategies, system monitoring and
improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements.
Database Administrators often plan, co ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard
databases. In addition to completing my educational goals, I would supplement my knowledge with
industry specific certifications that would illustrate my skills as a leading prospective candidate. This
particular position utilizes my previous work experience and technical expertise while employing my
greatest strengths. Although education and experience are key to being successful at your career,
overall satisfaction and longevity are equally vital. Although work experience is often times used in

Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp
Imagine this. You have just gotten a new watch, one that is cheap and ubiquitous, the Casio F 91W
digital watch. However, in a string of contiguous events, you are arrested by U.S. armed forces in
Afghanistan, and sent to one of the most widely condemned places in the world Guantanamo Bay
detention camp (Ball). While this scenario may sound strange and confusing, it was the sad reality for
many innocent men, who committed no crime other than wearing a watch. Admittedly, this watch was
given out by al Qaida to trainees, but many of the people who had this watch were innocent, not at all

encourages further terror, as it is used in terrorist propaganda to paint a negative picture of a

difficult it would be to change the college athletic system to compensate college athletes. Regardless
of what number of individuals feels that athletes ought not to be paid for their ability, there is pretty
much the same number of individuals whom feel they ought to. There are numerous reasons why
individuals think a student athlete ought to be adjusted. Some of those reasons incorporate; individuals
feel that frequently the college utilizes these athletes as boards for their school. Additionally, the
universities are offering the athletes names and achievements for the schools own acknowledgment.
Athletic organizations are utilizing college athletes to offer their items, along these lines the athletes

We must do everything in our power to make the world recognize that our veterans are still paying a
high price for fighting the war in Vietnam. Agent Orange is slowly taking the lives of these brave
veterans. The government has recognized some diseases but the rules to compensation can be
complex. It was in the 1960 s that we were in the process of trying to destroy vegetation and brush in
Vietnam, in doing so we proceeded to contaminate one of the largest parts of the environment,
Humankind. War Veterans were exposed to Agent Orange and now live their lives with a disease not

Disney s Strengths Of Disney
Disney Studio s main focus is on idea generation and storytelling through film and animation. In order
to be successful in its mission, Disney needs to be a strong, financially stable company, and judging
by its recent blockbuster hits, it is obvious Disney is achieving that mission. Disney s strengths lie
most notably in its ability to appeal to different crowds through a variety of studios, its strong,
internationally recognized brand, its reputation for doing good and treating others well, and having the
monetary funds to attract and keep the best talent. Despite its many strengths, Disney still encounters
problems; it ammasses high sunk costs through expensive movie ventures and does not make a lot of
that money back; Disney films bring in a very small percentage of Disney s overall income when
compared to its theme parks and attractions, television networks, and other holdings. Disney Studios
may just be one department of an international conglomerate, but it sets the tone for the rest of the
corporation.
One of Disney s greatest strengths lies in its diversification. The Walt Disney Company is in and of
itself a very diverse organization, with holdings in film production, amusement parks, cruises, hotels,
performances, and toy manufacturing. However, even within its film production, Disney is incredibly
diverse. What started out as a singular entity, Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio, has grown into a massive
conglomerate of animation studios, entertainment universes like

 Introduction
The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s.
Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly
used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a
problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP
uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial
channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals. The
output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal.
Basic Concept of how it works
Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the antenna
and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well and echo comes
back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information about the object.
RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS
1. Classification based on specific functions
Primary Radar:
High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is reflected by the
target and then received by the same radar.

Stress Paper
The main stressors in my life are school, and disturbed sleep pattern related to stress and hectic
workload. Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be
effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of
the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle,
and interests.
The first of my stressors is school; school is a stressor because it is more demanding than it was in

Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article
from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time
between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of
their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then
working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller,
K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my
time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things
that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to
bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely
fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern.
School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do
I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. I found the best coping
mechanism to fit my life style was yoga because it has been shown to lessens the affects of stress, help
with focus, and confidence ( Rizzolo et al. 2009). Which will fit in nicely with my already active

During the nineteenth century a country located in the western border of Europe that was once quite
prosperous was beginning to take quite a turn. This country was France. At the time France was
known for its alcoholic industry. Alcohol was so important to France that alcoholic beverages even
became a prominent part of French culture. France was also advancing in medicine and attempting to
progress far in technology to contribute to this field. For example, France was constantly creating
vaccines that were saving hundreds of lives both in the present day and in the future. More and more
citizens of France were aiming to become a part of the medical field, leading to a new found respect
for that field of science. The silk industry was also prominent, ... Show more content on

Louis had to pick between two experimental approaches. He either had to choose from a purely
chemical experimental approach where he would have to define the pattern in which the molecules are
arranged through experiments or from the approach of revealing the physical properties of crystals by
extensive research and physical observation. Pasteur decided to choose the latter otherwise known as
crystallography. Pasteur decided to become a member of the research team that studied crystals. He
wanted to discover the true essence and the mystery behind crystals. Little did Pasteur know that his
research of crystals would result in France s advancement in the scientific field. Pasteur s research
project consisted of the two crystalline structures. One crystalline structure was of tartaric acid, a
compound that is generally found in wine that is sour. The other crystalline structure that Pasteur
focused on was called racemic acid, which was found in the vats that wine was made in. He focused
on these two specific crystals because they had a unique feature. Although they both seemed to have
the same shape, they were geometrically different; the tartaric acid was optically active, while the
racemic acid was not. After almost a year of extensive sketching, in which his artist background
contributed greatly, and experimenting, he finally

Vulnerabilities Are Known As Security Holes That Exist
Vulnerabilities Vulnerabilities are known as security holes that exist in software, buffer flow is one
example which happens when the developer of a software product expects a certain amount of data,

These viruses contain their own e mail server, so that they can replicate by sending email to all mail
addresses that they harvest from the system. Worms An example of a worm is the Blaster worm,
which rapidly spread through the Internet in August 2003. Blaster targeted computers running
Windows operating systems, and used a vulnerability in Remote Procedure Call (RPC) code. Blaster
affected computers running Windows 2003 operating system, Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT 4.0
Terminal Services Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. After compromising hundreds of
thousands of systems, Blaster launched a distributed denial of service attack on a Microsoft Windows

The Trojan can capture passwords, or provide root access to the system remotely.

Theme Of Nature Vs Nurture In Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley explores the argument of nature versus nurture. The conflict of nature
versus nurture is displayed throughout the Gothic novel and in the development of the characters.
When looking at an argument such as nature versus nurture, the side one may want to assume is
difficult to find. Mary Shelley displays points in the novel to allow the reader to see both sides of the
argument, giving each side valid points. The shifts in tone and mood when nature is displayed shows
an immediate nurturing factor in the novel. The shifts allow the story to keep pace, and not become to
stagnant. The display of character development with a lack of nurturing shows that without nurturing,
humans are still able to develop with a sense of integrity. Mary Shelley displays the theme of nature
vs. nurture immediately with the development of Walton in the letters. Robert saving the stranger
outside of his ship from the cold and nursing him back to health shows a nurturing side from Robert.
When the mysterious man regains conscience and realizes what is happening, he is greeted by a crew
member who warns him, [h]ere is our captain, and he will allow you to perish on the open sea (Shelley
10). Walton and his crew take the man in and nurture him back to near full health. Walton shows an
immediate aspect of nurturing, I have persuaded him to remain in the cabin, for he is far too weak to
sustain the rawness of the atmosphere. (Shelley 12). The reader disconnects from

mind of Chief Bromden, a patient in a mental hospital, who becomes inspired to rebel against the ward
by a character named McMurphy. Through characters like McMurphy and Chief Bromden, Kesey

The Chief fools everyone by playing deaf and dumb, so the patients in the ward talk out loud about
their hate secrets when I m [Bromden] nearby because they think I m deaf and dumb. Everybody
thinks so. With Bromden s intelligence he notes that, If somebody d of come in and took a look, men
watching a blank TV, a fifty year old woman hollering and squealing at the back of their heads about

because he knows that the ward makes the men crazy, not their own minds. Watching a blank TV

political leaders give the orders while we all obey. In the ward the Chief is taken over by a fog of fear
that consequently began in his time in the ward because he fears society in which he has not been able

metaphors of his dreams because they all have the same meaning: society craves conformity. Being a

deaf and dumb because he feels as though he doesn t fit. Chief Bromden s fog dreams give the reader

The Benefits of Gum Chewing
Stressed, can t focus, trying to lose weight, suffer from oral health problems or digestive problems?
Simply chewing a piece of gum can help solve any of these issues.
For example, everyone experiences stress at some point in their life. Whether its from school, work,
relationships or life in general. Studies have proven that chewing gum can help relieve stress from
someone who is experiencing either acute or chronic stress. Chewing gum leads to reduced stress and
anxiety, and can elevate mood, improve concentration and enhance performance and alertness. says
Kate Morgan. To demonstrate how chewing gum relieves stress Andrew Scholey, a professor of
Behavioral and Brain Sciences from Swinburne University in Melbourne Australia, did a study
containing forty (Scholey) participants. He used a Defined Intensity Stressor Simulation, a machine
that measures the participants stress, anxiety and alertness levels, before chewing gum and after
chewing gum. Results showed that when chewing gum participants had a reduction in anxiety by
seventeen percent (Scholey) during mild stress and ten percent (Scholey) in moderate stress. They also
had an increase of alertness when they chewed gum by nineteen percent (Scholey) during mild stress
and eight percent (Scholey) in moderate stress. The participants levels of salivary cortisol (a

Developing nations especially face problems of overpopulation because of their tendency to have
more children to work and support the families. Many of the most overpopulated nations are located in
the Middle East, as well as in nations of Europe.
II. Past UN Actions: In order to address the issue of overpopulation, the United Nations established
the UN Population Fund in 1973 to become the initial manager in promoting population programmes.
The UNFPA primarily focuses on educating individuals, as well as governments, on healthcare and
family services in order to provide the information they need to ensure safe and planned pregnancies
for families. This corporation also advocates for gender equality and youth empowerment in
conjunction with communities, academic institutions, and numerous organizations to promote the
implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action. In addition, the UN Population Division and the

Persuasive Speech For Girls Education
Imagine living in a world where 65 million girls do not have the basic education that they deserve.
Well, believe it or not, in 2003, that was our world (rferl.org). The good news is that more and more
people are joining in to help this problem. Our ex First Lady, Michelle Obama, British actress, Emma
Watson, and President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, are all helping to change all of this. They all have
sacrificed their time and energy for girls education. Michelle Obama, has traveled all over Africa to
speak about education and has created a campaign called Let Girls Learn. Emma Watson, has recently
become a UN Women Goodwill ambassador. And Michelle Bachelet the executive director of the UN
women s division.

Growing up, Bachelet s life was really hard; her father was a general in the Chile air force and he died
from a heart attack when she was young. A little later, while she was a student at the University of
Chile, Bachelet and her mother were arrested and sent to Villa Grimaldi, a torture chamber. They were
arrested because Bachelet secretly worked for Socialist Youth (toughtco.com). In 1975 they were
released and she returned back to Chile (britannica.com). Seeing how a lack of education often relates
to money, as president Bachelet made university education free. She said, The utmost importance is
that nobody is left out of university (reuters.com). Research on women s education supports Bahcelet s
ideas on education: educated women are far more productive at work and it is easier for them to get a
job. For example, in India the infant mortality rate of babies whose mothers have received primary
education is half that of children whose mothers are illiterate (Unicef.org). Her mother always told her
that marriage is never the goal, aim for better things. So now Bachelet is the director of UN

The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, by Amin Maalouf
According to Amin Maalouf, It seems clear that the Arab East still sees the West as a natural enemy.
Against that enemy, any hostile action be it political, military, or based on oil is considered no more
than legitimate vengeance. And there can be no doubt that the schism between these two worlds dates
from the Crusades, deeply felt by the Arabs, even today, as an act of rape (Amin Maalouf). When
reflecting on The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, this quote always sticks out as the most powerful
piece of Maalouf s work. As a growing college student this quote brings harsh reality to the world I
live in. I believe as you grow through life, you become more and more aware of the world around you
through education. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maalouf states that he researched for two years learning about the crusades. His information has come
from authors and people who have experienced first hand and have also studied the crusades
themselves. Maalouf seems to have a good mix of primary sources such as; al Harawi and Usamah Ibn
Munqidh, and secondary sources such as; Historie des croisades et du royaume franc de Jerusalem and
La Palestine des croises, just to name a few.
Another main secondary source is Amin Maalouf himself. There were many times throughout reading
this adventure when I caught Maalouf sharing his opinion very strongly with the readers. Though he is
the author, Maalouf is a secondary source because his opinion is not complete factual information. I
am not saying by any means that it is bad or wrong information, I just want others to realize where the
information they read is coming from. The more you know about your sources, the better educated
your opinions will be.
Since we are on the topic of knowing your sources, I thought it would be a good idea to find out where
Amin Maalouf himself has come from in life. According to Petri Liukkonen in his bibliography on
Amin Maalouf, our author was born in Beirut, Lebanon in the year 1949. An interesting fact about
Maalouf that I found through this bibliography is that he is actually Catholic. Amin s mother was from
a Christian family herself and had a major influence on her son s religion (Petri Liukkonen). Maalouf
currently lives in

The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process
The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of
unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross,
2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor
relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between
employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers.
Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and
management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows
for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell
Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages, employment terms and
workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process
(McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good
faith. Good faith means that the either side in the process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the
mandatory and mutually agreed upon permissive subjects. If the issue is considered permissive the
employer is not required to negotiate these issues during the bargaining process. Since the language in
the law of the NLRA does explicitly state which issues are mandatory or permissive so these issues
have been

Correctional Facilities In The US
As the United States is confronted with the fallout of mass incarceration, the need for competent
correctional personnel to ensure public safety and see that other staff and inmates are safe is of great
concern. The prison administration staff is composed of employees who perform a public service of
high risk and importance for safeguarding the civil society. However, the roles of prison facilities have
drastically changed over the years and they are now no longer regarded as mere custodial institutions.
The natures of these institutions have thus shifted from custody to training, education and the
rehabilitation of prisoners. The new prison administration is expected to perform medium complexity
activities that involve planning, organizing

Why Did Abraham Lincoln s Murderous Act
Abraham Lincoln was known as one of the most famous presidents of the United States. He was also
known for how he died. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Abraham Lincoln was killed, because of
John Wilkes Booth s dedication to the south. Now the mystery is why he was so dedicated and what
pushed him to carry out his plot. Throughout this essay the facts will show the true reason for John
Wilkes Booth s murderous act.
John Wilkes Booth did not intend to kill Abraham Lincoln. John Wilkes at first wanted to kidnap the
president. John Wilkes wanted to bring the president to the Confederate states to break up the union
After Lincoln s reelection in November 1864, Booth devised a plan to kidnap the president and spirit
him to Richmond, where he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ransom would be to release every Confederate soldier that was a prisoner of war. Doing this
would allow the Confederacy to have a bigger population soldier wise. This would make John Wilkes
Booth s plan a success, but something happened that changed his mind. The president gave a small
speech from the White House that enraged John Wilkes Booth. What the president had proclaimed to
the public was that he would give African Americans rights Lincoln also indicated a wish to extend the
franchise to some African Americans at the very least, those who had fought in the Union ranks during
the war and expressed a desire that the southern states would extend the vote to literate blacks, as well.
Booth stood in the audience for the speech, and this notion seems to have amplified his rage at Lincoln
( Hamner). He had told the union that he wanted them to be treated as equals. John Wilkes Booth was
enraged, because this speech went against his entire goal he said, That means nigger citizenship, he
told Lewis Powell, one of his band of conspirators. Now, by God, I ll put him through. That is the last
speech he will ever make (Hamner). His goal was for things to stay as they were that African
Americans would still be slaves and would be looked down on. After the president gave his speech to
a small group from the White house it was the last straw for John. John intended to kill the

One common expense that goes along with selling a home is paying real estate commissions. While
real estate commission rates are hardly set in stone , they average is 6 percent of the sales price in a
typical sale. However, many sellers in a down market will try to maximize their net profit and
negotiate commission down with an agent. In fact, I know many agents willing to reduce commissions
down to 4 percent, giving a buyer s agent the standard 3 percent and taking only 1 percent for
themselves. Yet, in all of my conversations with seller and with agents, reducing commissions can
come with a price all its own. Volume Professional real estate agents take their careers seriously. If

I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great
place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought
Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile home,
on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller s agent made a mistake at
closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The mortgage was
five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no longer there. A couple
of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New York City. Half a million
dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized backyard I grew up in. I also
lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large, though very chic walk in closet. My
first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me $40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It
came without an A/C system but a small window unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot,
virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a
very acceptable rate of 6.5%. Over the next couple of years I bought, and still own, three more houses
in the same way. Two are on the same block as my original house and one is on the next block. In
1998 few people thought any of the houses would ever sell

The Aftermath Short Story
The one room cabins looked like hog pens afterward! They had destroyed the furniture in the cabins
and there were beer cans and whiskey bottles all over the place. It was hard to see . On a lighter side,
driving back to Ozark the next morning with Sheriff Lamb, Ozark Police Chief Speaks heard a loud
POP! A few minutes later, he smelled something strange. You smell that Buff? No, what? Something
smells funny. Like maybe it s burning? Stop the car and let s look in the trunk! The two opened the
patrol car s trunk and discovered that a gas grenade had exploded. Coughing, Buff picked up the
grenade and threw it alongside the road. The two coughed all the way back to Ozark. The Aftermath
The following night, Buff did not return to Rockaway and stayed in Ozark. Lawman Christopher
Dugan (name withheld) stated The Highway Patrol said they wouldn t come back if Buff was there.
Sheriff Lyman told everyone that he d take care of it. According to Dugan, his methods of law
enforcement were a little too severe. But if that meant he didn t put up with any bull, they were 100%
correct. The night after the riot, there were as many lawmen as there were visitors in Rockaway. Nine
businesses had been destroyed and a dance hall roof, cars and a looted liquor store. A few people had
been hit with bird shot from a shotgun, but everyone survived. The city closed 3 taverns they blamed
for the rioting and at least one boy was given a jail sentence for escape from the Forsyth jail.

Cognitive Dissonance In Friends
Cognitive dissonance means feeling tension when our thoughts and beliefs are inconsistent. An
example of this is when people smoke even though they are aware of the consequences that can occur
such as cancer which leads to cognitive dissonance. This occurs almost everyday in our lives, whether
we are aware of it or not. An one example that was shown on one of the episodes of Friends made us
aware of this happening. Friends is a sitcom which aired on television in 1994 and ended in 2004. It is
about six best friends, Chandler, Joey, and Ross, Monica, who is Ross s brother, Phoebe and Rachel
who are living in New York City. Though out the show we see that Monica falls in love with Chandler,
and Rachel falls in love with Ross. However, at the beginning of the show we see, Ross and Rachel
hook up which causes problems in their relationship. In the last season we see that Ross and Rachel
realize that they love each other so they get back together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experiencing cognitive dissonance because he thinks that he and Rachel were being cautious and he
did not want to have a baby with Rachel as it was not planned and had not had a previous romantic
relationship with each other. Nevertheless the pregnancy occurred, she wound up pregnant which led
to the feeling of discomfort. Ross s discomfort and tension left him feeling uncomfortable that could
possibly effect his ego and self confidence and could make him feeling self conscious and because of
that he is feeling

The Energy Bar Industry Essay
Energy Bar Overview The energy bar market grew from a grass roots effort focused on the consumer
base of performance athletes. These athletes usually obtained products at competitive events that were
geared towards the everyday consumer. The build up of this market is attributed to PowerBar, but
there was significant contribution from others.
PowerBar and the Market
PowerBar began as a company seeking to create a performance enhancing food that marathoners
could consume during an energy draining race. Initially, the product was marketed and distributed at
bike shops and events where running and biking were the competition medium. As this new category
began to expand, new entrants began to enter the market. These new entrants began ... Show more

However, this limited view allowed them to miss the concept of creating bars focused on women.
Their close competitor, Clif Bar, built a solid brand for itself. However, Clif Bar recognized that the
market was heavily focused on males and was missing the opportunity to bring women into category.
Clif Bar had major success with the launch of Luna Bar. Luna Bar saw that women were not being
properly targeted and marketed. Luna positioned itself as being created by women for women to
address their needs. Luna s recognized that women have interest driven by several needs and interests.
These needs and interest will directly influence their purchasing behaviors. Balance Bar paired its
approach to go hand in hand with the Zone Diet. The Zone Diet focused on reduced carbohydrates by
balancing them with protein and unsaturated fats. Balance Bar focused more on the fact that
consumers were interested in more than energy from carbohydrates, but more of a balanced approach
to nutrients. MetRx, which greatly influenced the sports protein bar market, became popular with
members of the bodybuilding industry and then with consumers outside of that industry. MetRx
helped drive the market for protein bars. In addition, MetRx marketed the awareness for the need of
high protein supplementation for weekend athletes in addition to current market of

How To Modernise Othello
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss with
you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics, Othello.
Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times, Shakespeare,
in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use of language
lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it relatively obsolete
in our times.
Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and
relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however,
manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting,
reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in
every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and
novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving
the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem.
My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant
questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the
metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him
come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers
wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod,
Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth
and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support
wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions
so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver
into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and
Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder

Congruence In Social Work Research Paper
Congruence is an essential part of social work practice and being a facilitator of group work. As
described by Shalka (2009), congruence is when one s feelings, thinking, and behaviour are in
alignment and when one s actions are consistent with their values and beliefs. Furthermore, it is when
our actions are informed by our principles. Moreover, acting in congruence is vital in social work
because of its nature, which revolves around helping other people live better lives. As prescribed by
the BCASW Code of Ethics (2011), social workers are obligated to act as professionals in the best
interest of their client, ensuring that they respect the client s intrinsic worth and that they work from a
place of integrity and objectivity. These social work values should be adopted personally as well as
professionally, allowing social workers to be in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, when social workers actions match their values and beliefs, they uphold the profession and
are role models for their clients and communities, especially in relation to social justice and advocacy.
When I was young, and before I made the decision to become a social worker, I was in a terribly
abusive relationship that entailed financial, emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse. Further, I had very
naïve views on how the world worked, including in the areas of social justice and feminism. Looking
back, I know during that time I judged women who stayed in abusive relationships, not understanding
why they would not just leave them. However, this was a quite hypocritical viewpoint, because I
myself was in a horrific relationship that I stayed in for over two years. At the time, I valued kindness,
independence and self preservation, including cutting people (except for my boyfriend) out of my life
who were harmful to me. I was incongruent by not seeing that I was being abused and by being

The Expansion Of Foreign Aid
In the denotation of foreign aid takes many definitions in different literature, but as Tarp provided it is
government transfers from donor countries to under developed or poor countries. That is intended for
promoting development and reducing poverty, although there may be other aims of giving aid. As
there are major trend of foreign aid and most reasonable issues that foreign aid fluctuated in different
years, therefore the paper will look back the trend of foreign aid and it s changes in globally that has
started from 1940s one of the major trend of foreign aid that happened in the world was European
recovery programs known as marshal plan which its main aim was assistance from United states of
America to recover Europe.
Also the paper will focus on how 1980 s oil shocks changed economic nature as well as how
multilateral support increased in 1970 s there were also other foreign aid trends cited in this paper as
the end of Berlin wall and downfall of soviet union and in that time aid has really peaked in real terms
from 1974 to the final of the Cold War as some countries attained greatly UN ODA target of 0.7% of
national income (OECD, 2011)
As the same time second part of this question will discuss reasons why the donor countries grant
bilateral aid to poor and developing countries, rather than financial crises, reducing poverty, recovery
procedures and economic stability which are common but some scholars like (Lumsdaine, 1993)
believes that aid are given not only

  • 4. Sentiment Analysis And Stock Market Prediction This chapter discusses about the important work and procedures related to sentiment analysis and stock market prediction done previously. These researches and publications are related to my speculations and will further motivate with the end goal. The approach used in this thesis is inspired by Bollen et al s strategy [12], with a step taken forward to implement PageRank algorithm to increase the accuracy of results and use of different sentiment analysis techniques than the techniques used by him. In 2010, Bollen used Twitter data for finding the predictability of Twitter sentiments on stock market with high accuracy. He proposed a method for prediction of the changes in the stock market price based on the mood of people on Twitter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second phase includes polarity classification in which corpus is classified into positive, negative, both or neutral using 10 different features and 2 simple classifiers. Neutral polar classification and polarity classification achieved an average accuracy of 75.9% and 65.7%. Besides understanding the effects of twitter data and sentiment analysis, a large group of researchers is attracted towards various types of predictions and their applications in various fields. Andrei Oghina [28] predicted Internet Movie Database (IMDB) ratings by information retrieval from social media. They hypothesized that the correlation can be found between the IMDB ratings and social media signals related to movie artifacts (e.g. movie title) . In 2010, Andranik et. al. [29 ] analyzed tweets which mentioned political parties and politician during German election 2009 and found that large number of tweets reflects voter preferences. Also, there are researches speculating the fact that Twitter can be used in areas like real time event detection like earthquakes [30], tracking the spread of diseases [31]. There is also prior work in finding the correlations between social media and stock market. In 2010, Gilbert and Karahalios [32] estimated anxiety and fear from a dataset of over 20 million posts from LiveJournal site. They calculated an index of US national mood known as the Anxiety Index. Results of this experiment showed that when the Anxiety Index rose, the S P 500 market ended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Contest Of Smiles, The Smile, And Female Actors To Smile Or Not To Smile In a contest of smiles, who would win women or men? That answer just so happens to be women. But why women? According to Amy Cunningham in, Why Women Smile, women smiles are automatic (though it can be true for either sex) as they are controlled by society s expectations. Cunningham has even experienced this herself, from her friends and even her husband. One of her friends told her that they associate her with her smile, calling it her essence and that she should smile more (Cunningham 369). Her husband calls her smiling face unthreatening and because of that demeanor, people like her in a fuzzy way, despite that not being her goal (369). Not only with firsthand experience, Cunningham also pertains details from history, scientific evidence, and culture into her article as well. From baby reflexes to Mona Lisa s mysterious smile and female actors, she uses her information in a way that people can accumulate some sort of connection of what she s writing into their lives. Connecting one personal story or experience to another can make people empathize, especially if the general target audience is towards to women as per this article. Using this, Cunningham uses her personal connective approach and informative evidence to prove that smiles of the womanly kind are being used too much and used wrongly. In this case, I agree with Cunningham s point in her explanation about the reason why women really smile by how she utilizes her approach in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Disney s Strengths Of Disney Disney Studio s main focus is on idea generation and storytelling through film and animation. In order to be successful in its mission, Disney needs to be a strong, financially stable company, and judging by its recent blockbuster hits, it is obvious Disney is achieving that mission. Disney s strengths lie most notably in its ability to appeal to different crowds through a variety of studios, its strong, internationally recognized brand, its reputation for doing good and treating others well, and having the monetary funds to attract and keep the best talent. Despite its many strengths, Disney still encounters problems; it ammasses high sunk costs through expensive movie ventures and does not make a lot of that money back; Disney films bring in a very small percentage of Disney s overall income when compared to its theme parks and attractions, television networks, and other holdings. Disney Studios may just be one department of an international conglomerate, but it sets the tone for the rest of the corporation. One of Disney s greatest strengths lies in its diversification. The Walt Disney Company is in and of itself a very diverse organization, with holdings in film production, amusement parks, cruises, hotels, performances, and toy manufacturing. • 12. Taking a Look at Radar Systems Table of Contents  Introduction  Basic Concept of how it works  Classification of radar  Things used in radar  Frequency range  Different ranges and uses  STAP Algorithm  HPC System  Parallel Algorithm  References  Introduction The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal. Basic Concept of how it works Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS 1. Classification based on specific functions Primary Radar: High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is reflected by the target and then received by the same radar. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle, and interests. Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller, K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern. School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. At the time France was known for its alcoholic industry. Alcohol was so important to France that alcoholic beverages even became a prominent part of French culture. France was also advancing in medicine and attempting to progress far in technology to contribute to this field. For example, France was constantly creating vaccines that were saving hundreds of lives both in the present day and in the future. More and more citizens of France were aiming to become a part of the medical field, leading to a new found respect for that field of science. The silk industry was also prominent, ... He either had to choose from a purely chemical experimental approach where he would have to define the pattern in which the molecules are arranged through experiments or from the approach of revealing the physical properties of crystals by extensive research and physical observation. Pasteur decided to choose the latter otherwise known as crystallography. Pasteur decided to become a member of the research team that studied crystals. He wanted to discover the true essence and the mystery behind crystals. Little did Pasteur know that his research of crystals would result in France s advancement in the scientific field. Pasteur s research project consisted of the two crystalline structures. One crystalline structure was of tartaric acid, a compound that is generally found in wine that is sour. The other crystalline structure that Pasteur focused on was called racemic acid, which was found in the vats that wine was made in. He focused on these two specific crystals because they had a unique feature. Although they both seemed to have the same shape, they were geometrically different; the tartaric acid was optically active, while the racemic acid was not. • 16. Theme Of Nature Vs Nurture In Frankenstein In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley explores the argument of nature versus nurture. The conflict of nature versus nurture is displayed throughout the Gothic novel and in the development of the characters. When looking at an argument such as nature versus nurture, the side one may want to assume is difficult to find. Mary Shelley displays points in the novel to allow the reader to see both sides of the argument, giving each side valid points. The shifts in tone and mood when nature is displayed shows an immediate nurturing factor in the novel. The shifts allow the story to keep pace, and not become to stagnant. The display of character development with a lack of nurturing shows that without nurturing, humans are still able to develop with a sense of integrity. Mary Shelley displays the theme of nature vs. nurture immediately with the development of Walton in the letters. Robert saving the stranger outside of his ship from the cold and nursing him back to health shows a nurturing side from Robert. When the mysterious man regains conscience and realizes what is happening, he is greeted by a crew member who warns him, [h]ere is our captain, and he will allow you to perish on the open sea (Shelley 10). Walton and his crew take the man in and nurture him back to near full health. Simply chewing a piece of gum can help solve any of these issues. For example, everyone experiences stress at some point in their life. The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross, 2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers. Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages, employment terms and workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process (McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good faith. Good faith means that the either side in the process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the mandatory and mutually agreed upon permissive subjects. Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting, reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem. My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth and estate.
