Miguel Leon Portilla author of Broken Spears The Aztec Account of the Conquest of Mexico, tells the
story of the Spanish conquest over the Aztecs from the Aztec point of view. It is more familiar in
history that the Spanish led by Hernan Cortez defeated the Aztecs with a powerful army and
established an easy victory all while having intentions to gain power and greed. However, Leon
Portilla focuses on the Aztec Empire and their story. Leon Portilla does a great job giving readers the

The Aztec people felt very strong about their beliefs in gods and superstitions. Montecuhzoma the
independent ruler of the Aztec empire swayed his people to believe in the power of gods and idols and
live a spiritual life. This ultimately was a turning point for the Aztecs and is where the Spanish once
again gained advantage over the Aztecs. While the Aztecs were faithful to their beliefs it made them
powerless an easy take down. Superstitions played a huge factor in the Aztecs first encounter with the
Spanish people. In 1519 when the Aztec people saw sight of something coming from a distance in the
water, they believed it was Quetzalcoatl (Leon Portilla, 18). Quetzalcoatl was a legend to them that
promised to come back. Montecuhzoma misread the situation and sent messages and gifts in hopes
that it sent a gesture to welcome the gods onto their land. This was a big mistake that Motecuhzoma
made by opening his arms to the Spanish people upon their first encounter together (Leon Portilla,
63). This is just one case where the Aztec people poorly used their judgement. However,
Motecuhzoma did come to realize the behavior of the Spaniards or Gods . When the Spaniards held
the gold given by the Aztecs their greed became noticed in the eyes of the Aztecs. The Natives
described them as monkeys. They soon caught on that the Spaniards were not gods and heroes and
more so barbarians

He describes system thinking as a discipline for seeing wholes; as a framework for seeing
interrelationships rather than things, for seeing patterns of change rather than static snapshots (Senge,

understanding how things work. System thinking is integral, in both, the analysis of situations as well

new language and as a new perspective. When used as a tool, it graphically depicts the understanding

British Culture And Differences Between British And...
While I have been living in the UK for two months, I have noticed many differences between British
culture and Chinese culture, especially in an aspect of social etiquette.
Britain and China are both countries that have the long history and splendid civilisations, have been
known for their ceremonies and etiquette through the ages. However, as the typical representative of
the Western culture and the Eastern culture, it can be something unique and distinct of social etiquette
between this two countries, in the aspects of meeting and greeting, visiting a home, gift giving, table
manners, compliment and gratitude.
The British seem to be reserved when they first meet someone. The handshake is a standard way of
greeting in Britain, even for children, and there are no issues over gender. (10 British Etiquette and
Customs you should learn, 2017) Chinese people also shake hands upon meeting, merely, in the
formal or official occasion, and simultaneously lower their eyes slightly as a sign of respect. People
only nod or salute instead of shaking hands as a greeting to friends and family. In Britain, sometimes
people will embrace or kiss the other person if they are family or a very close friend. (10 British

because they rarely treat others with hug or kiss unless they are the lovers. Both in Britain and China,
use people s family names is appropriate when you address an unfamiliar person.

In this research, the perception of the Second Amendment is discussed bearing in consideration of
some consequences of the misuse of firearms by individuals who are not military. This essay develops

The strategy or objectives of a business will greatly influence the course of action they will take. The
most effective and efficient way to segment a market can depend greatly on the type of product or
service and, ultimately, their goals for a strategy. I find it interesting to know that companies will
consider factors such as psychographic and behavioural methods in particular because they are not
things I automatically assume are important to a business. Demographic, benefits and geographic
factors appear much more important to me but on further study i realised that businesses will use a
combination of a the methods to be more effective. Companies such as Black Milk, who earn most of
their profits online consider demographic, behavioural and psychographic much more than geographic
methods as the internet offers them a channel for greater customer scope than if they were to target
particular locations.
Companies will also evaluate the attractiveness of a market to determine whether they should pursue
it. The criteria for this evaluation seems appeal to the universal objectives of businesses so in that
sense, it extremely effective. The identifiably of a customer is important so that companies are able to
strategies effectively. The segment must also be substantial enough for business to be conducted
