Fast Fashion In The 19th Century
Over the past decades the textile industry has changed immensely. Throughout the early 19th
century fashion was the one thing that determined the worthiness of someone and how much
money they earned. The rich wore top hats and the poor wore tatted clothing that hardly fit. Since
then, the textile industry has become more knowledgeable about the environmental issues as well
as more ethical and sustainable ways to produce clothing. The term Fast fashionwas developed in
the U.S in the 1980 s however, it wasn t called fast fashionit was called quick response then the

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
In Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, Jonathan Edwards delivers a powerful sermon to his
congregation about the horrors of hell. Throughout the piece, the author explains there is no escape
from eternal destruction, and one must join God to reach salvation (para. 27). Edwards uses dark,
gruesome imagery along with gloomy diction in order to instill fear into the audience, and persuade
them to more devoutly worship God.
Imagery is used by Edwards to induce terror onto the congregation by illustrating the power of
God on wicked men (para. 10). In the beginning of the excerpt, Edwards paints a picture of sinners
ready to fall into the pit of hell, with only God s will keeping them up. He describes it as such, ...

Edwards uses words like wrath and omnipotent to display the power that God posses, and
chooses negative connotation words to describe the relationship between God and man (para.
15, 46). Making the comparison of the relationship between God and humans like a spider web
or thread, the author wants the audience to know that it can be broken at any time, and that the
pit is prepared down in hell for sinners (para. 17). Edward chooses diction that leaves humans
hopeless, and at the mercy of God. He wants the audience to know that God is always in control,
using words like if God should permit and the mere pleasure of God (para. 13, 7). Additionally,
Edwards uses diction to portray God as merciless and immoral, saying that has God is without
pity and will have no compassion upon you (para. 41). This leaves the audience despaired, and
they feel as if they have no choice but to reestablish their relationship with God, or certainly face an
everlasting destruction at any time God pleases to (para.

The Gobi Desert Of Chin The Arid
With 1.4 billion living souls in China, it is by far the most populated country in the world. It is
located south of Mongolia, northeast of India, northwest of the South China Sea, and west of
Japan. Its absolute location is 35.86В° N and 104.2В° E. Because of its size, many climate regions
exist within Chinas territory. In the southwest lies the plateau of Tibet. With an elevation of 14,000
feet, it is the highest elevated area in the world! The Gobi Desertsits in the northern area of China
and southern area of Mongolia. It occupies 500,000 square miles of area which is over 10% of
China! This qualifies much of China uninhabitable without external intervention from society.

The Gobi and Taklamakan are both classified as Arid. The summer temperatures reach into the
80s (day and night temperatures averaged) and the winter temperatures reach into the 50s. With
only 5 inches of rain yearly, they are classified as deserts. The arid regions of China have
extremely low population densities. This is one of the main contributing factors explaining why
most of the population of China is extensively focused on the east coast. The semi arid regions of
China generally have a higher population density than the arid regions. This is because it
receives 18 inches of rain yearly, which is above the threshold to not be classified as a desert.
They have moderate summers with mild winters. This is also another main reason why many more
people live here than in the arid regions. The northeastern portion of China experiences this
climate. Beijing, for example, is a populated region that lies in the semi arid region of China. The
humid continental region of China lies in the very northeastern portion of China (the portion
directly east of Mongolia). Aside from the winters, this region experiences very moderate
temperatures and humidity. This specific region in China receives 28 inches of rain yearly on
average. The winters reach down into the twenties, while the summers stretch up into the mid
sixties. Due to the fact that this portion of China lies on a larger parallel, it experiences colder
winters than other regions of China. The humid subtropical region of China experiences very high
rates of humidity. It receives 50 inches of rain on average yearly. This region is much more
moderate than the humid continental region due to the fact that it experiences temperatures
dipping down only into the high forties in the winter. This is probably because of the humidity that
affects the climate. This climate region lies in the southeastern portion of China. In China also

Banking Fraud And The Banking Industry
A banking fraud is the use of illegal means to gain money, assets from depositors or clients
fraudulently while posing as a bank, agent or any other financial institution. In many countries and
especially the United States, bank fraud is a criminal offense even though experts refer to it as a
white collar crime due to the manner in which it is carried out. The paper below will look at the
vulnerabilities that face the banking industry while using the example of Stanford Financial Group
Company to show how the banking fraudcan be committed. Moreover, the paper will also look at
the different frauds that can be committed in the banking sector and how the vulnerabilities can be
avoided. A fraud prevention program will also be created meant to help companies in the banking
industry prevent and detect crimes and frauds before they occur (Riggs, 2007).
Stanford Financial Group Company: A Brief History
The Stanford Financial Group Company was a privately owned international group that specialized
in financial services under the control of Allen Stanford. Allen Stanford controlled the financial
company until United States authorities seized in at the end of 2009 due to what came to be known
as Ponzi scheme or scandal. Among its many groups was the Stanford International Bank, with
more than 50 offices in 136 countries around the globe. The company offered diversified financial

Theoretical Criminology s Theory Of Delinquency And Drug...
Introduction According to Bernard, Snipes, and Gerould (2016), a theory is a reasonable
explanation for something based on ones beliefs, attitudes, and available information that make up
the intellectual and rational surroundings of people at different times. Therefore, theoretical
criminology are facts about crime based on the same elements.
Most theories attempt to pinpoint the type of criminal behavior the causes crime using one theory
of another to explain the facts based one theory. A large portion of criminologist believe that too
many theories exist that are inconsistence with proven research data and should be eliminated [by
the process of falsification] as a source of information, while others believe these theories should ...

The strain theory argues that delinquency may be caused because of ones failure to achieve a
specific goal or satisfy specific needs such as social acceptance, monetary status, or status
among peers (Bernard et al, 2016). According to Piquero and Sealock (2004) strain has three
major causes: (1) failure to accomplish valued goals [positive expectations after completing a
task], (2) the loss of something or someone considered close [a parent or serious relationship], (3)
the presence of something associated with a negative event [physical abuse]. Research by Piquero
and Sealock (2004) found that Agnew proposed a general strain theory that focuses on strain on the
individual level caused by negative relationships with others, which may cause negative emotions
resulting in crime. Agnew used this theory to specifically answer the question, why adolescence
choose to engage in delinquent behavior and drugs (Piquero Sealock, 2001). Empirical evidence
suggests when adolescents are confronted with a situation they perceive as harmful and being
trapped in such as living at home and attending school, the possibility of deviant behavior increases.
An example of the strain theory displayed in the movie dealt with the lack of parental supervision.
Most of the teens in this movie had no real connection with their parents causing the group to spend
a lot of time together, creating more opportunities to engage in delinquent behavior. This

The Three Major Theories Of Social Change In Society
Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed (Cesar Chavez). Social change, is exactly that,
an alteration in the social order of a society. The three major theories of social change include:
evolutionary theory, functionalist theory and conflict theory. Evolutionary theory is society viewed
as moving in a definite direction, simple to complex social structures. Functionalist theory is a
societal system of interconnected parts that work together in harmony to maintain a state of
balance. The conflict theory claims society is in state of continuous conflict due to competition
for limited resources. In this contingent powerful groups can maintain the status quo. Society has
changed over the years. One social change in society would be social media. Being able to share
opinions so freely has become a hot topic in today s news. For example, social media not only
allows gateways to others confidential information but it also serves as a way for terrorist to send
threats that can be seen by the public. With social media, comes technology which creates new
possibilities. Computer technology; shrinks the world by decreasing time and distance between
sources of information. It improves medical care with quick diagnostic and treatment information
through video consultation, and increases educational learning options and workplace options. The
negative effects of technology consist of amplified surveillance of people and condensed privacy.
Another change in society over the years

Back In Black Research Paper
Hailing out of Australia, AC/DC is a legendary band, that had two major singers who both sang in
their own unique ways. In February 1980, AC/DC suffered the loss of their singer, Bon Scott, from
alcohol poisoning and hypothermia. This set the future of AC/DC for the rest of their careers. After
the death of Bon Scottand within that same year, AC/DCacquired Brian Johnsonand made their first
album together Back in Black. They released the classic song Back in Black , but there are many
misheard lyrics in that song. Musically, it makes you think you can conquer the world and nothing
could stop you. As a tribute to their late singer, Bon Scott, the band dedicated the album to him. To

This can be misinterpreted as saying Nine lies, capsized. Using every woman in line. I think
another reason for mishearing Johnson s lyrics is simply the way he sings. Brian Johnson has a
unique voice and does not sing clearly. So, you can read the lyrics yourself, then listen to the
song and hear something completely different. Brian Johnson is from Northeast England,
known as Tyneside. The people who live there are infamously known for their accent, which is
called a Geordie accent. This accent is typically associated with the working class people of the
region, but until the 80 s was referred to anyone in Northeast England. So, the fact that there is
already a dialectal difference, from Great Britain to the United States, plays a big role into
mishearing the lyrics. Plus, Johnson s accent plays a big role into mishearing the lyrics as well.
My dad is an outdoorsman, he likes to fish, hunt, trap, you name it he does it. Growing up, I was

bands on CDs. He would listen to Black Sabbath, Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, and other metal
bands. One he played the most often though, was AC/DC. He had multiple CDs from them from

Ethics And Ethics Of Care
Ethics of care can be defined as a normative ethical theory often considered a type of virtue ethics.
Dominant traditional ethical developed ethical theories based on an understanding of society as the
aggregate of autonomous, rational individuals with an emphasis on rules, duties, justice, rights,
impartiality, universality, utility and preference satisfaction; care ethics, on the other hand,
developed based on the understanding of the individual as an interdependent, relational being and
emphasized the importance of human relationships and emotion based virtues such as benevolence,
mercy, care, friendship, reconciliation, and sensitivity. The author divided the article into three

It argued that memory includes an element of forgetting. It is impossible for us to remember
everything with equal weight. Remembering a unique event, such as the Holocaust, it becomes
linked to a specific narrative that is selective. Giving much emphasis on the Holocaust blocked the
memory of the al Nakba, a particularized memory of the Palestinians. It was not only the
destruction of Palestine, but of the memories and names of Palestine. Maragalit refers to it as a
double murder, to be killed not only in body but in name. Memory is also said to have the
possibility to be institutionalized and influenced by emotions. In the last section, the author used
the feminist argument of the ethics of care. It is to acknowledge the existing boundaries of moral
and political life often omit the concerns and activities of the relatively powerless. We need to
remember that we humans are interdependent. Awareness and recognition both the Holocaust and
the al Nakba are essential to the ending of the struggle and start a process of reconciliation. The
author has shown its consistency with Margalit s argument that memory is the condition for caring,
and the absence of the former suggests the absence of the

Visions of The Primitive in Langston Hughes s The Big Sea
Recounting his experiences as a member of a skeleton crew in The Haunted Ship section of his
autobiography The Big Sea (1940), Langston Hughes writes
This rusty tub was towed up the Hudson to Jonas Point a few days after I boarded her and put at
anchor with eighty or more other dead ships of a similar nature, and there we stayed all winter.
...[T]here were no visitors and I almost never went ashore. Those long winter nights with snow
swirling down the Hudson, and the old ships rocking and creaking in the wind, and the ice
scraping and crunching against their sides, and the steam hissing in the radiators were ideal for
reading. I read all the ship s library. (Hughes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, The Big Sea provides a trenchant commentary on writers such as Carl Van Vechten,
whose novel Nigger Heaven (1926) promoted the associations of Harlem as an atavistic enclave
for a disenfranchised black population.1 Indeed, Hugh M. Gloster describes Nigger Heaven as a
sort of guide book for visitors who went uptown seeking a re creation of the primitive African
jungle in the heart of New York City (Gloster, pp.113 14). This Manhattan neighbourhood north of
Central Park, with its growing population of Southern immigrants, would serve the Nordic author
Van Vechten in much the same way that Africa did Conrad or India did Kipling: as an alien
territory, forbidden, dangerous yet compelling in its intensity. It is ironic that this very conception
of Harlem was one of the key reasons why it was overrun and exploited by sensation seeking white
outsiders. Hughes makes implicit comparisons between the colonial despoliation of African natural
resources and the whites frivolous engagement with Harlem s exotic cabaret nightlife in the 1920s.
Hughes s gesture of throwing his own personal collection of books overboard at the start of The
Big Sea before embarking for Africa as a merchant seaman on the S. S. Malone offers an immediate
and provocative challenge to the

Objectivity And The Social Responsibility Theory
Part I:Objectivity in journalism is claimed by many media sources yet is one of the hardest things
to find when searching the news. An objective view in journalism associates itself with the social
responsibility theory, in which a person must provide a variety of views for a piece of information
given to the public (Grossber 383). While many journalists may claim they are objective, this type
of communication to the public is difficult to achieve, as a natural biasdevelops within a person
from their socialization. El Nawawy and Iskandar are cited within The Great American Bubble by
Adel Iskandar, Objectivity has come to imply both a media practice of information collection,
processing, and dissemination, and an overarching attitude (163). As the article also discusses, Fox
Newsis an openly right winged news source for the public, specifically, their show, The O Reilly
Factor, displays conservative views on current news. Fox does not display complete objectivity in
their newsfeeds, yet they are open about it, which could be described as social responsibilitytheory
in a different way. I would argue that objectivity is almost impossible to achieve, and in that sense
news sources should openly explain their bias, instead of hiding their own agendas in their
information, which would give social responsibility theory and objectivity a new light.
Part II: Iskandar brings up an important point, saying Who judges whether or not a news story is
objective? Is it the audience

The Pros And Cons Of Memory
Since the early days of humanity, humans have developed exceptional skills and critical thinking
capabilities which increased our capacity to communicate and interact with our environment.
Individuals are capable of holding and storing information and passing it to others. That capability
is called memorywhich is fundamental for human s day to day life. According to psychologists,
memory is defined as a brain wide process, which consists of encoding, storage and retrieval of
information (Mastin). The human memory is a complex mental process that has been analyzed by
many scientists and psychologists. The discoveries made throughout the years have shown
diverse facts, for example, the human brain has a storage capacity of about 2.5pent bytes
(Reber). In this paper, it will be showed not only the discoveries of memory, but how it is formed
and how it works. As we go deeper, we will discover the science behind memory.
As mentioned before, memory passes through tree basic processes that are encoding, storage and
retrieval. Encoding refers to the process of transforming information into a format code that can be
understandable for the memory system. After the information is encoded, the information is
storage. Storage is the process of retaining the encoded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Technology And Artificial Intelligence
A disruptive technology is a technology that that displaces an existing technology, thus shaking up
the industry, or it can also be a ground breaking technology that creates a completely new market.
Technology can be categorized into two different categories, one of which is a disruptive
technology, which lacks refinement, often has performance problems, because it is new it appeals
to a limited audience and may or may not yet have a proven practical application. On the other hand,
we also have sustaining technologies and these rely on steady improvements to an already existing
technology. A recent contemporary disruptive technology that has emerged is that of robots and
artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is intelligence exhibited by machines. In computer
science terms it artificial intelligence can be interpreted as any device that perceives its
environment and takes an action that maximizes its chance of success at some specific goal.
Consequently, the term artificial intelligence is applied when a machine is able to accomplish
cognitive functions that humans associate with human skill such as learning and problem solving
(Stuart et al). As computers have become exceedingly faster and more efficient, artificial
intelligence has also rose to the forefront and is being implemented in technologies varying from
autonomous cars to chess games and is increasingly becoming smarter as time progresses (Stuart et
al). Artificial intelligence is a disruptive

which was the standard essay, I drafted the essay and received feedback on my thesis via email

my paper and strengthened my argument. It was in my second artifact however that I realized
the importance of getting an outside opinion on my work. For this assignment I had to create a

branching narrative and under the pressure of developing my own storyline my storyline was not
a proper branching narrative. After developing my first draft, I had a collaborative conference

Discuss the importance of the cinema industry s bid for respectability in this transitional period

First and foremost, it became a business, with order, structure, and monetized. In many regards, the

The Role Of Hierarchy In The Early Church
As the early church expanded some teaching weren t clear that they were the word of God. One
of the teaching is apostolic succession. Hierarchy is a system or organization in which people or
groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority. Through hierarchy many
beliefs were passed down the ministry by popes and bishops. Many of these belief include the
canon, eucatist, hierarchies and etc. In order to find out what the was really said back then we must
go back to the early church fathers and read their manuscripts. In Matthew 16:19 Jesussays I will

changed those he made friends with. For example, when Dona and his pen pal Pam are strip
searched and brought to the site of the execution it shows that Pam has come all the way around
the world to see the execution. Karen Sebung accompanies me as far as the waiting area where we
witnesses are searched, then Dona and Pam are escorted to another room by a female officer. When
they return a large man enters the room and introduces himself as an officer of the prison s Internal
Affair Division. (Earle 80). Concluding that Jonathan Nobles as the choice to be good or bad, he
truly shows that he is not a good person. Two out of three people who serve time in prison never
come back, and only eleven percent come back multiple times. (slate.com) The situational
rehabilitation comes into play when talking about his change. All the manipulation of others
provides evidence that he never really rehabilitated. Jonathan Wayne Nobles was never really
habilitated because of him wanting others to feel sorry for him, actions influenced by how
others treat him, and the fact of him being good or bad. All the concepts make up the fact that
Nobles never really learned anything while being imprisoned. He only received more privileges
for his wrong doing. The actions gave him more leeway to get closer to others while making them
a friend of his. He learned to adapt to the surroundings and make it work to his advantage. With all
the transformations back and forth from good too bad he never gave a true perception to his

A World Order By Jhumpa Lahiri
Nair attempts to interpret and relocate the characters from their succinct semantic images on
paper and re cast them as believable entities embodying social, economic and psychological
baggage in an essentially postmodern world order. In Lahiri s novel, a world order presents
itself where people like Ashoke and Ashima are subconsciously put on the fringes of the
mainstream American society, in part by their attitude and approach to the new, almost alien
societal and cultural experiences and circumstances and in part by the reaction to their reaction
by the world around them. And this is essentially a conflicting world order where there is an
intent to adapt to this bewildering newness around while there is equally strong a yearning for
the familiar and much cherished roots. The two characters (Ashima more visibly so) are torn, as
it were, between the two worlds, and struggling to conform to either! Into this palpable melee
comes the son. The second generation of Indian immigrants and a first born American citizen of
Bengali origin who is bestowed with a name borrowed from a Russian writer of repute, Gogol
Ganguly endeavours to be efficaciously functional in a space that might be essentially regarded as
an interstice or gap between the American public sphere as Nikhil, truncated or anglicised to the
convenient Nick , and the Indian home sphere as Gogol, while trying to make peace or strike a
middle path with his baffling name and social, national, cultural and ethnic

The Decline Of The West Sparknotes
The title of the short story by Hanif Kureishi is inspired by a book with the same title The Decline
of the West written by historian and philospher Oswald Spegler in 1918. In the two volume book
Spegler revised how we looked at history and how we devided it in to epochs. He was of the thought
that history should be divided into cultures instead of epochs, and in the book he introduced the
reader to eight different cultures which where: the roman, the aztec, the egyptian, the babylonian,
the chinese, the arabian, the indian, and the western european/american culture. Spegler thought that
these cultures have a lifespan of one thousand years and that only the final stage of each cultutre is
what we call a civilazation. In the book Spegler described... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

How Is Hagar Shipley An Unlikeable Character
Pride of Living
It is difficult for the reader to take an objective view of the characters in this novel, particularly
Hagar Shipley, because of the first person nature of the story. Furthermore, it is also impossible not
to dislike Hagar at times because of her detachment from the things that could bring her happiness.
Hagar suffers from dysthymia, she is a victim of relational and social distance. Her past was not in
her favor when contributing to her emotionally distant future.
Hagar is portrayed as an unlikeable character being blinded by pride, and just overly bitter. While
she may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs
evil) it does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to
personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not
necessarily make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In
many instances, she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is
frustrating to readers at times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved
by a slight change in character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that
come with it.
Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let
herself be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence

Why We Should Study Chimpanzees
Animals such as chimpanzees have rights. Even though they may not be humans, they are living
creatures. Jane Goodall watches the videotape of chimpanzees which inspires her to visit them.
She decides to go visit them and later finds out how depressed the chimpanzees were. They were
living in small cages with nothing to do. No toys, no being around any other chimpanzees, nothing.
Jane then visits another lab where only baby chimps were playing around with toys and other
chimpanzees, but the older chimps were trapped inside cages. People who work with lab animals
should understand the animals behaviors. Whether it s good or bad, knowing this should be
mandatory when people work with them. Since chimpanzees are smart, similar to humans,

The Reasons In Reginald Rose s Twelve Angry Men
Imagine this, you re being taken to jail for a crime you supposedly did, although you actually
had nothing to do with it. The next day you have a trial, but The jurors that are there care less of
who you are. The trial goes up to three days, finally the jurors discuss the case and come up to a
decision, however it isn t what you had expected. You re accused guilty for a crime you didn t
commit and now you have to deal with the consequences, what perhaps could have gone wrong in
this case? Could it have been that someone set you up, then again could it have been that the jurors
in the trialjust rushed since they didn t actually care from the start? Twelve Angry Men , a play
about a trial in which a teenager is being accused guilty in the murder of his own father while his
case is being reviewed by the jurors. Throughout the play Reginald Rose, the author, shows us
that not every trial that is held is actually always a fair trial. This play that was written is a good
example of a trial being treated unfair by the jurors, although at the end the case was fairly
brought to a decision. In this play most of the men are being unfair and vote guilty towards the
kid, but one stands up for him and fights the case, the author does a great job in showing that
cases are not always fair by describing each juror. Throughout the play there are good details that
show the unfairness of most of the jurors and how they rushed most of the time and just tried to get
over it. As

Moses Man Of The Mountain Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston in Moses, Man of the Mountain uses the biblical Exodus story to piece
together the black American s experience by explaining a broken and replicated ideology that
has been adapted by black people in America that not only facilitates the continuation of
involuntary servitude but of which has taken on a new form. Through the use of black language,
black rituals and black culture, the telling of this narration of oppression based on economic
class, gender and ethnicity encompasses factors allowing the enslaved system of racial divide to
continue and sadly flourish today. For black Americans, years of servitude of themselves, has led
to a perpetuation of thus this same system among each other. Until black people in America adopt
a new unified system of operating that moves black Americans away from acquiring space by
means of systematic oppression, they will continue to operate according to Massa s direction
instead of walking in a life of true equality and freedom.
Involuntary slavery has never ceased to exist for black people in the United States of America.
Historical records indicate slavery was abolished in 1865, but in fact, contrary to this record, it
continued then and continues today. The enslavement ideology introduced on slave ships,
engrained by white America on the fields, in the cabins, by Jim on the bus, in the schools and on
the job has enveloped into a tragedy which no one has benefited from. Through Hurston s deeply
personal and ethnically

Blunder # 6 Not having an advisor with experience
Ugh. At first I was going to strike this from the list because, in my opinion, it isn t applicable to
every one. Some business types may be along the road less traveled, making available advisors
scarce. I can think of a few industries where the managers are hard to find and the owners and
founders even harder. People with valuable experience may not be available to some of you

For the rest of us here, on the other hand, finding someone who could advise us and answer

The need for advertising and marketing never stops, regardless of how big you get. And growth will

In the beginning God! These are not only the first words of God to mankind concerning the
origin but it is at the same time the last words also. At one point in time however, there was
neither time nor creation. God spoke the word and all creation came into being just as he spoke
it. There was no greater being before God, there is now no greater being than God, and there will
never be any greater being after God seeing that God is omnipresent and not going anywhere. Man
has really tried to substitute philosophy and science for the word of God, but God s statement still
stands. Although Moses wrote the book of Genesis centuries ago, now there has

The First Cases Of Osteogenesis Essay
Introduction The first cases of osteogenesis imperfect date back to ancient times, with history of the
condition becoming evident when an Egyptian infant mummified around 1000 BC was discovered
with skeletal structure similar to those associated with osteogenesis imerfecta (Osteogenesis
Imperfecta Foundation
[OIF], 2015b). Researchers also believe a Viking leader in the 9th century who had weak legs and
had to be carried into battle, known as Ivar the
Boneless , had osteogenesis imperfect (OIF, 2015b). Additionally, medical literature from the 1600
s includes symptoms and features commonly associated with osteogenesis imperfecta, such as
fragile bones and early hearing loss, and the term osteogenesis imperfecta first appeared in medical
literature in the 1840 s (OIF, 2015b). However, health professionals did not identify the condition as
one present at birth, rather than as an acquired disorder, until the early 1900 s (OIF, 2015b). Today,
approximately 20,000to 50,000 people in the United States have osteogensis imperfecta (National
Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, 2014).
Author: Joanne Goodwin
Edited by: Idalia Jasso
Signs and/or Symptoms Osteogenesis imperfecta affects bones beginning at the cellular level
(National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases [NIAMS],
2014). This disorder impacts how the body produces collagen, which is a protein found in bones that
provides strength (NIAMS, 2014).

The Secret Life Of Bees Movie And Book Comparison Essay
The Secret Life of Bees is about a fourteen year old girl who lost her mother when she was four.
Ever since her mother died, her father T. Ray, short for Terence Ray would abuse her. Rosaleen is
the maid. She acts as a motherly figure toward Lily. Lily, the fourteen year old girl, and Rosaleen,

Similarities:

Most students who are applying for college are often recommended to apply at a community

have used this technique to increase their chances to succeed in a future application, which is good.
But there s another way to, let s say, manipulate this community college option. The keywords are

Edward Richer Essay
Gerhard Richer (1932~) is a German artist who is unique for not conforming to a particular
movement or having his own artistic style. However, his works have been influenced by many art
movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and
Conceptualism. He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the
oppressive East German communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other
contemporary art (1). Thus he often explored figurative expression or representation of subjects,
until his exposure to abstract art in West Germany introduced him to an approach to art that was
much more expressive of life and its realities (1). He first started drawing landscapes in the late...

There are a couple of elements that set his painting apart from Friedrich s; that it has a surrealist
element, and that Richter values the characteristics of modern art, meaning that the artwork
does not focus on how to most imitate a subject most faithfully ( realistically ) but to capture the
essence of it. The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with
the traditional style of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it
with the orthodox is what allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart
from romantic paintings by nature s indifference . The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the
viewer s search for something to relate or connect to in the painting which links to its function and
purpose. Sea Sea is are particularly significant work for being a sort of stepping stone for Richter.
On one hand, we see how his background of being trained to paint in a traditionalist realistic
painting style has influenced his photorealistic style, but on the other, his desire to move into a
more expressive form of art as the discomfiting element and the inhuman detachment of Sea Sea

He assumed the assembly would behave, but the meeting was a disaster, lasted 14 hours and

Colonialism, Aboriginal People, And Racism In Canada
Colonialism, Aboriginal peoples, and racism in Canada
In this research paper, I will be explaining how western colonialism and racism destroyed the
reputation of aboriginal peoples in Canada. The reason why I chose this topic because it shows the
strong relationship to anthropology and after taking aboriginal studies 30, it also shows that I have
a clear understanding about the history of aboriginal peoples in Canada, the struggles they have
been through over the past decade and the challenges they still face today in modern day society. I
ll be addressing these issues in a couple of paragraphs on the discrimination and the inequalities of
these minorities and how they had to assimilate into European culture, leaving their way of life
behind them.
The history of Canada is the era of where colonization all began towards aboriginal peoples. Over
the past decades, aboriginal peoples have been mistreated and misused by the white Europeans.
They have been oppressed by Canadian society that we are known still by today and continue to
live under racism resulting in gender and class oppression. The history of colonialism has been
playing a big part in the way of how aboriginal people have been constructed and impacted on how
aboriginal people are treated and viewed in Canadian Society. They have been dealing with the
struggles, inequality, and discrimination that we have been putting them through for over three

An Angry God Diction Jack Van Boening Mr. Pitts AP Language 16 August 2016 Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God In Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, Jonathan Edwards delivers a powerful sermon to his congregation about the horrors of hell. Throughout the piece, the author explains there is no escape from eternal destruction, and one must join God to reach salvation (para. 27). Edwards uses dark, gruesome imagery along with gloomy diction in order to instill fear into the audience, and persuade them to more devoutly worship God. Imagery is used by Edwards to induce terror onto the congregation by illustrating the power of God on wicked men (para. 10). The Gobi and Taklamakan are both classified as Arid. The summer temperatures reach into the 80s (day and night temperatures averaged) and the winter temperatures reach into the 50s. With only 5 inches of rain yearly, they are classified as deserts. The arid regions of China have extremely low population densities. This is one of the main contributing factors explaining why most of the population of China is extensively focused on the east coast. The semi arid regions of China generally have a higher population density than the arid regions. This is because it receives 18 inches of rain yearly, which is above the threshold to not be classified as a desert. They have moderate summers with mild winters. This is also another main reason why many more people live here than in the arid regions. The northeastern portion of China experiences this climate. Beijing, for example, is a populated region that lies in the semi arid region of China. The humid continental region of China lies in the very northeastern portion of China (the portion directly east of Mongolia). Aside from the winters, this region experiences very moderate temperatures and humidity. This specific region in China receives 28 inches of rain yearly on average. The winters reach down into the twenties, while the summers stretch up into the mid sixties. Due to the fact that this portion of China lies on a larger parallel, it experiences colder winters than other regions of China. The humid subtropical region of China experiences very high rates of humidity. It receives 50 inches of rain on average yearly. This region is much more moderate than the humid continental region due to the fact that it experiences temperatures dipping down only into the high forties in the winter. • 5. Banking Fraud And The Banking Industry A banking fraud is the use of illegal means to gain money, assets from depositors or clients fraudulently while posing as a bank, agent or any other financial institution. In many countries and especially the United States, bank fraud is a criminal offense even though experts refer to it as a white collar crime due to the manner in which it is carried out. The paper below will look at the vulnerabilities that face the banking industry while using the example of Stanford Financial Group Company to show how the banking fraudcan be committed. Moreover, the paper will also look at the different frauds that can be committed in the banking sector and how the vulnerabilities can be avoided. A fraud prevention program will also be created meant to help companies in the banking industry prevent and detect crimes and frauds before they occur (Riggs, 2007). Stanford Financial Group Company: A Brief History The Stanford Financial Group Company was a privately owned international group that specialized in financial services under the control of Allen Stanford. Introduction According to Bernard, Snipes, and Gerould (2016), a theory is a reasonable explanation for something based on ones beliefs, attitudes, and available information that make up the intellectual and rational surroundings of people at different times. Therefore, theoretical criminology are facts about crime based on the same elements. Most theories attempt to pinpoint the type of criminal behavior the causes crime using one theory of another to explain the facts based one theory. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The strain theory argues that delinquency may be caused because of ones failure to achieve a specific goal or satisfy specific needs such as social acceptance, monetary status, or status among peers (Bernard et al, 2016). According to Piquero and Sealock (2004) strain has three major causes: (1) failure to accomplish valued goals [positive expectations after completing a task], (2) the loss of something or someone considered close [a parent or serious relationship], (3) the presence of something associated with a negative event [physical abuse]. Research by Piquero and Sealock (2004) found that Agnew proposed a general strain theory that focuses on strain on the individual level caused by negative relationships with others, which may cause negative emotions resulting in crime. Agnew used this theory to specifically answer the question, why adolescence choose to engage in delinquent behavior and drugs (Piquero Sealock, 2001). Empirical evidence suggests when adolescents are confronted with a situation they perceive as harmful and being trapped in such as living at home and attending school, the possibility of deviant behavior increases. An example of the strain theory displayed in the movie dealt with the lack of parental supervision. Most of the teens in this movie had no real connection with their parents causing the group to spend a lot of time together, creating more opportunities to engage in delinquent behavior. This ... • 8. The Three Major Theories Of Social Change In Society Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed (Cesar Chavez). Social change, is exactly that, an alteration in the social order of a society. The three major theories of social change include: evolutionary theory, functionalist theory and conflict theory. Evolutionary theory is society viewed as moving in a definite direction, simple to complex social structures. Functionalist theory is a societal system of interconnected parts that work together in harmony to maintain a state of balance. The conflict theory claims society is in state of continuous conflict due to competition for limited resources. In this contingent powerful groups can maintain the status quo. Society has changed over the years. One social change in society would be social media. Being able to share opinions so freely has become a hot topic in today s news. For example, social media not only allows gateways to others confidential information but it also serves as a way for terrorist to send threats that can be seen by the public. With social media, comes technology which creates new possibilities. Computer technology; shrinks the world by decreasing time and distance between sources of information. It improves medical care with quick diagnostic and treatment information through video consultation, and increases educational learning options and workplace options. Brian Johnson is from Northeast England, known as Tyneside. The people who live there are infamously known for their accent, which is called a Geordie accent. This accent is typically associated with the working class people of the region, but until the 80 s was referred to anyone in Northeast England. This Manhattan neighbourhood north of Central Park, with its growing population of Southern immigrants, would serve the Nordic author Van Vechten in much the same way that Africa did Conrad or India did Kipling: as an alien territory, forbidden, dangerous yet compelling in its intensity. It is ironic that this very conception of Harlem was one of the key reasons why it was overrun and exploited by sensation seeking white outsiders. An objective view in journalism associates itself with the social responsibility theory, in which a person must provide a variety of views for a piece of information given to the public (Grossber 383). While many journalists may claim they are objective, this type of communication to the public is difficult to achieve, as a natural biasdevelops within a person from their socialization. El Nawawy and Iskandar are cited within The Great American Bubble by Adel Iskandar, Objectivity has come to imply both a media practice of information collection, processing, and dissemination, and an overarching attitude (163). As the article also discusses, Fox Newsis an openly right winged news source for the public, specifically, their show, The O Reilly Factor, displays conservative views on current news. Fox does not display complete objectivity in their newsfeeds, yet they are open about it, which could be described as social responsibilitytheory in a different way. I would argue that objectivity is almost impossible to achieve, and in that sense news sources should openly explain their bias, instead of hiding their own agendas in their information, which would give social responsibility theory and objectivity a new light. While she may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs evil) it does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not necessarily make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In many instances, she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is frustrating to readers at times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved by a slight change in character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that come with it. Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let herself be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence which no ... Jane Goodall watches the videotape of chimpanzees which inspires her to visit them. She decides to go visit them and later finds out how depressed the chimpanzees were. They were living in small cages with nothing to do. No toys, no being around any other chimpanzees, nothing. Jane then visits another lab where only baby chimps were playing around with toys and other chimpanzees, but the older chimps were trapped inside cages. People who work with lab animals should understand the animals behaviors. Whether it s good or bad, knowing this should be mandatory when people work with them. The next day you have a trial, but The jurors that are there care less of who you are. The trial goes up to three days, finally the jurors discuss the case and come up to a decision, however it isn t what you had expected. You re accused guilty for a crime you didn t commit and now you have to deal with the consequences, what perhaps could have gone wrong in this case? Could it have been that someone set you up, then again could it have been that the jurors in the trialjust rushed since they didn t actually care from the start? Twelve Angry Men , a play about a trial in which a teenager is being accused guilty in the murder of his own father while his case is being reviewed by the jurors. Throughout the play Reginald Rose, the author, shows us that not every trial that is held is actually always a fair trial. This play that was written is a good example of a trial being treated unfair by the jurors, although at the end the case was fairly brought to a decision. In this play most of the men are being unfair and vote guilty towards the kid, but one stands up for him and fights the case, the author does a great job in showing that cases are not always fair by describing each juror. Throughout the play there are good details that show the unfairness of most of the jurors and how they rushed most of the time and just tried to get over it. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Moses Man Of The Mountain Analysis Zora Neale Hurston in Moses, Man of the Mountain uses the biblical Exodus story to piece together the black American s experience by explaining a broken and replicated ideology that has been adapted by black people in America that not only facilitates the continuation of involuntary servitude but of which has taken on a new form. Through the use of black language, black rituals and black culture, the telling of this narration of oppression based on economic class, gender and ethnicity encompasses factors allowing the enslaved system of racial divide to continue and sadly flourish today. For black Americans, years of servitude of themselves, has led to a perpetuation of thus this same system among each other. Until black people in America adopt a new unified system of operating that moves black Americans away from acquiring space by means of systematic oppression, they will continue to operate according to Massa s direction instead of walking in a life of true equality and freedom. Involuntary slavery has never ceased to exist for black people in the United States of America. Historical records indicate slavery was abolished in 1865, but in fact, contrary to this record, it continued then and continues today. The enslavement ideology introduced on slave ships, engrained by white America on the fields, in the cabins, by Jim on the bus, in the schools and on the job has enveloped into a tragedy which no one has benefited from. Through Hurston s deeply personal and ethnically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, his works have been influenced by many art movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism. He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the oppressive East German communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other contemporary art (1). Thus he often explored figurative expression or representation of subjects, until his exposure to abstract art in West Germany introduced him to an approach to art that was much more expressive of life and its realities (1). The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with the traditional style of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it with the orthodox is what allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart from romantic paintings by nature s indifference . The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the viewer s search for something to relate or connect to in the painting which links to its function and purpose. Colonialism, Aboriginal People, And Racism In Canada Colonialism, Aboriginal peoples, and racism in Canada In this research paper, I will be explaining how western colonialism and racism destroyed the reputation of aboriginal peoples in Canada. The reason why I chose this topic because it shows the strong relationship to anthropology and after taking aboriginal studies 30, it also shows that I have a clear understanding about the history of aboriginal peoples in Canada, the struggles they have been through over the past decade and the challenges they still face today in modern day society. I ll be addressing these issues in a couple of paragraphs on the discrimination and the inequalities of these minorities and how they had to assimilate into European culture, leaving their way of life behind them. The history of Canada is the era of where colonization all began towards aboriginal peoples. Over the past decades, aboriginal peoples have been mistreated and misused by the white Europeans. They have been oppressed by Canadian society that we are known still by today and continue to live under racism resulting in gender and class oppression. The history of colonialism has been playing a big part in the way of how aboriginal people have been constructed and impacted on how aboriginal people are treated and viewed in Canadian Society. They have been dealing with the struggles, inequality, and discrimination that we have been putting them through for over three centuries, we ve been also failing them with Canada s racist policies ...
