IT in the New Future
1.1Introduction
A revolution is taking place. Information Technology has quickly emerged as a significant field all
over the world. Computers are extremely versatile and finding their way into every business,
industry and research activity today. The uses of computers are diverse and encompass
entertainment, education, communication, problem solving, research, decision making and
everything. The whole lot will be merged to IT in the near future. The wired world of business,
where technology, human talent, and a new way of doing business make up to day s growing
worldwide economy. The backbone of this electronic commerce is the internet. While it s rapidly
spreading there are also rapid changes in every instance of time as addition of new sophisticated
technologies and new standards etc.
Though communication technology is currently undergoing a massive revolution, these advances
and the accompanying benefits have not yet filtered down to those in developing nations with
antiquated and outdated technology. This project attempts to address this need by developing a
system that harnesses the power of the Internet, which is the most economical and yet most widely
available and accessible global network in existence.

Public Relations, Advertisement, And Marketing

PR Paper
P.A.M. Many are unclear on the differences between public relations, advertisement, and marketing.
They are very different and each has distinct characteristics that define their roles in the workforce.
When public relations, marketing, and advertisement are used together they can be used to form a
very successful plan if used to their full advantages.
Worldwide, people aren t sure what public relationsrole is in the workplace. Public relations is a
planned communication that builds relationships between organizations (What is Public
Relations). Someone who works in the public relations field can find themselves doing a number
of tasks daily. Planning, implementing, researching, and evaluating are just some of the key tasks
when working in the field (What is Public Relations). The main goal of public relations is building
a reputation for a company since in today s competitive market reputation can make or break a
company. The main goal of public relations is to manage and spread information to create a
favorable image for the organization through various media outlets. (Public Relations).
When someone mentions the word advertisement the most common things to come to mind are,
newspaper, billboards, and commercials. Advertisement can be a paid announcement, a public
notice, or the act of making something known (Advertisement). Advertising is the action of calling
attention to something (What is Advertising) through a number

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zizzou Analysis
The magic of film is that it can tightly control what the viewer sees. A camera s ability to let
directors decide what is explicitly shown and what is merely implied makes it a powerful
storytelling tool. The average director wishes to immerse the viewer as much as possible, using
lavish special effects and high tech equipment to hide the artificiality of the film under a thick
layer of polish. When a film breaks this immersion it is usually considered to be a technical or
creative failure. Other films for various reasons decide to deliberately either break the viewers
immersion or never immerse them in the first place. A good example of one of these deliberately
false films is The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou, directed by Wes Anderson
in 2004. Without
giving much detail it is the story of Steve Zizzou (portrayed by Bill Murray,) a documentarist and
oceanographer who vows to avenge a comrade who was allegedly killed by a jaguar shark.
However though the course of the film it is revealed that the eponymous character is not the
knowledgeable adventurer that he claims to be, in fact being an incompetent hack more concerned
with wealth and prestige than anything else. Though Zizzou s films appear to have adequate
production values it is revealed that much of it is inaccurate or even fabricated for the sake of
showmanship. Anderson uses broken immersion as a metacommentary or analogy of the fake
nature of Zizzou s documentaries and his phony persona.
An excellent example of

Craig Martin On Jainism
Craig Martin stated, The world is not just there for us to find and discover rather, we make the
world what it is through our use of language. (21). This further expands on the notion that human
beings are the makers of social constructs and social roles; we make these categories that we place
ourselves and others in to give each other a sense of identity. Human beings like to be in control of
their world and everything in it. Anything that tries to disrupt that or is outside of their control
brings a sense of chaos.
In the words of Craig Martin, a meritocracy is defined as a society in which people get what they
earn, deserve or merit (72). Religions area generally known to be fair and peaceful for all to be

Aidan Rankin a researcher wrote a book titled Jainism and ethical finance drawing global
awareness to the culture of Jainism and it s ability to sustain those that practice it for years. The
article stated, Jains make one of the largest per capita communities of accountants, financiers
and entrepreneurs in the world yet they operate quietly and simply, that is why they remain
unnoticed. Finance has been in their DNA for centuries. This further expatiates on when the
short video classified Jains as prosperous merchants in India. This raises some ethical questions
on how Jains have been able to be prosperous without any support of violence in their careers.
Jainism seems to be a religion that can only be realistic in India because it is recognized as a
major religion there and they have lived there for so long they have been able to build a
community that supports and encourages their practices culturally and environmentally. A
question that may be raised is what is the definition of prosperity, is it defined my money, which
is made from paper that comes from trees? Also the fact that a book also made from several trees
was written to support and maybe convert those that read it into the practice is a bit ironic. The
last ethical issue that what could the Jain merchants possibly be selling that is a result of non
violence of any animal or plants that can bring about so much prosperity that it is news worthy.
Jainism seems to a very

Swot Analysis Of Topshop
Topshop Overview
Topshop was founded in 1964 in Sheffield England as a high fashion store for the young and
different generation. Today they currently have over 500 store locations across 58 countries and 86
of them in the United States. They still follow the same young and high fashion identity that the
store was built on.
Introduction Topshop Green
One thing that is missing from the current market place is a fast fashion store that carries eco
friendly clothing. There is currently no store that has a fast supply chain and produces inexpensive
clothing for a low price. Fast Fashion is one of the worst things that has happened to our
environment because of how the clothes are made and how fast they are being thrown out by
consumers. A missing category in the fast fashion industry is an ethical/ sustainable clothing.
Topshop Green will fill in this niche market that is just starting to come together. This line will
focus on fashion forward clothing but the first thought when creating the clothes will be how to
make them as ecofriendly as possible. This line will target the millennial generation because they
are the most aware of what s going on with our planet and will be attracted to a sustainable clothing
line.
Target Customer
Our target customer will be females 18 35 year olds, which is the Millennial Generation. The
average income of our customers is $40 thousand and up but income isn t very important because

Narrative Narrative
I never would have guessed a simple trip home would turn into a life or death situation. It was the
end of summer in 2008; my mom, grandma, and I were coming home from our short vacation we
take every summer to Ames, Iowa while my brother and dad go to Alaska. The sun shimmered
down on us as we cruised down the various roads to arrive back home.
The traffic was frantic that day forcing our old, rusty, black avalanche to exceed the maximum
speed limit on Highway 13. We neared Central City, Iowa, approximately 20 minutes from our
countryside home while I quietly played on my mom s old blackberry phone. My mom mentioned
previously that it began to appear quite gloomy in the sky. I slowly rolled down the back window
next to my seat. The heavy, damp smell of a stormemerged into my nose like a frog approaching
its prey. Ominous clouds shifted back and forth in the sky when mom finally told me to check the
weather radar on her phone while she tuned the radio into a weather station. The radio signal
only let out various pitches of static. Before I could check the radar, a loud boom rumbled in
front of me; my mom slammed on the brakes, and my grandma began latching onto her arm rest.
A massive oak tree lay in front of us on the road, blocking all oncoming traffic. Somehow mom
managed to swerve around the tree as the now impending storm began to swirl around us. Within a
matter of seconds, hail pounded our windshield, rain blinded the outside world, and the wind
whipped even faster,

The Detrimental Effects of Concussions
In recent years concussions have become more and more of a topic due to their effects on the
people who receives them. Concussions can cause a multitude of problems for a person later in
their life whether they suffered from a major concussion or just a minor concussion. These
problems can occur if a person ended up with multiple concussions over a lifetime or if they only
have had one single concussion The problems a person can encounter are all somewhat connected
but very diverse at the same time. Most of the problems a person will encounter will be due to a
change in that person s brainbut they can range from simple memory problems to suicidal problems.
The problem with concussions are that not everybody takes them serious enough. Some people
like football players will just blow it off. After taking a big hit and barely being able to get to the
sidelines they will be right back in the game on the next possession. Others like coaches might not
take a player s concussion serious because they know without that player they might not be able to
win thus putting the players long term health into effect. Concussions are very devastating and
cause many people future problems no matter what some doctors say.
The brain is an organ that is essential to everything people do. Whether it is remembering
something or just talking to someone the brain is in charge of it. So when a person takes a blow
to the head or body the brain shakes inside of the skull and they can have a

Accounting Standards Codification ( Asc )
Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 470 20 25 10 defines convertible bonds as debt
securities which are convertible into common stock of the issuer or an affiliated company at a
specified price at the option of the holder, (Schulman, 2014). Convertible bonds Under APB
Opinion No. 14 you are allowed to ignore the conversion and treat the convertible bonds as a
straight debt. This approach is defended on the basis that the bondand conversion option are not

shares. Unless the redemption of redeemable stock is required to occur only upon the liquidation
or termination of the reporting entity, the stock should be classified as a liability. (Schroeder,
Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The GAAP treatment of preferred stock does affect companies that are
closely held, non public companies. Large firms that are under this category do issue MRPS, as
the result of this, the effect of this new standard as potentially eliminating the net worth of the non
public companies that have issued MRPS. (Schroeder, Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The other issue at
the beginning of the conversion of MRPS from not being reported as a liability to being required
to report the MRPS is a liability on the balance sheet. This would have caused debt covenant
violations, which would have hampered the firm s ability to borrow additional debt. Not only
will firms balance sheets show an increase in liabilities, but also ratios related to a firm s debt will
be affected, as well. Debt to equity ratios and debt to asset ratios will deteriorate as a result of FAS

Section 8 Housing Case Study
I chose to focus on the rent voucher/section 8 housing, because it is very common in my town
and the surrounding towns I grew up in. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could
afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as
section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord,
who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income
for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8
housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because
their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive
section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and
business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of
dishonest officials (Palen, 255). The construction of new low income housing has seen its share of
failures in the past , which is why rent vouchers tend to be more common rather than building a
whole low income housing unit that could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Department of Housing and Urban development defines housing choice vouchers as, a program
that is federally funded for assisting very low income families, the elderly, and the disabled to
afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market (Castro). This definition is very
similar to that of Palen s definition in the book, they both cover it being federally funded, but the
article goes into more detail on who can apply for the voucher and why. The article does go into
more detail about the process of finding an apartment, or in some cases a house, to live in and the
landlord must accept the terms of the voucher for the family to live in the that particular unit or

A Seperate-Personal Narrative
I can still recall that day and its scent; the scent of freshly sharpened wooden pencils, disinfectant,
old paper, and dust. The busy hustle and bustle of the halls of chattering kids walking to class
and teachers shouting in different directions. All of this appeared to me highly surreal; I might
have been there physically, but I was not entirely there psychologically. To me, it was all a
moving picture in mute. I could see, feel, smell, and taste, but I could not listen. I was only able to
perceive gabble, meaningless sounds that were meant to be words, but, unfortunately, did not make
any sense. Moving to another country was something I had never considered before and it was a
new experience in which I hoped to learn more about the culture

Employee Violations In Employment Law
The Employment law regulates the relationship between the employer and employee so they can
engage in fair and ethical employment practices. It is especially important for employers to know
and refer to employment law in the context of employment. This is because the courts are more
likely to protect employees from unfair treatments as they generally believe employees are in
weaker bargaining position than their employer. I.What employment violations has the employer
committed, if any? According to the case, Sally found out her employer unilaterally changed her
job without providing reasonable notice of the change. In Canada, employers generally have the
right to make changes to the terms of employment if it is reasonably necessary and employees have
the right to be notified and consulted before any changes were imposed. In other words, one party
cannot impose a change to the terms of contract without first notifying and securing the consent of
the other party (Yates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Can Sally sue for damages? If Sally can sue for damages, what might the court consider when
assessing damages? According to Yates (2013), when an employer demotes or makes unilateral
changes to the nature of employment, this constitutes a constructive dismissal. This proves that
Sally was constructively dismissed. Therefore, she can treat the contract as wrongfully terminated
and sue for wrongful dismissal. In considering Sally s case, the court would apply the same test
they have established in 2015 to determine a constructive dismissal for the case of Potter v. New
Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission (2015 SCC 10 (CanLII)) : a)Extent of the unilateral
change: Whether the employer breached an express or implied term of the employment contract in
a way that substantially altered the essential terms of the contract; or b)Intention: The employer s
conduct would lead a reasonable person in the same situation to conclude that the employer no

How to Go Broke
Going broke is a very tedious and cumbersome activity, which requires constant vigilance and
tireless effort. Although many have accomplished this feat on their own, many of us require
some form of guidance. This serves as the quintessential handbook of how to get broke; it shall
be called The House of Cards Insolvency Process Guide. To begin, it is critical to limit the term
broke as financially bankrupt. Although at times broke can refer to moral emptiness or may even
be used to describe both pecuniary and personal ruin, we limit our definition strictly to fiscal
failure. Before we delve into the step by step guidelines on achieving one s bankruptcy, certain
foundations are suggested to be laid out in order to facilitate the process.... Show more content on

One must pretend to know the broad and yet differentiated world of banking and equity portfolios
without bothering to actually learn about them. Use words such as instability , hedging , and
derivatives to inspire awe and trust among those who discuss these activities with you. Of utmost
importance to Step Two, one must invest in only certain types of products to assure that one s
portfolio remains inflexible and susceptible to crashing. Next comes the more advanced form of
unwise asset management: putting up businesses. In the Sound Business stage, the thoughtless and
unabashed purchasing habits initiated in Step One shall be the basis. At this point, the financially

The Catholic Christians belief on Canonization and the Scripture writings have a difference
according to Paul and the letters he wrote. Canonization is a process that is used by the churches to
name Saints, the churches have utilized this since the nineteenth century. This has been done over
and over for several years. It began with the early church, first martyrs then the public claim did the
choosing of these saints; however, this way was thought to be democratic despite the information

of the Lord, for example these people had the ability to intercede for the living people s sins.
They believed in confessing their sins to other people in the hope of being prayed for and
healing. These people were thought to be powerful and with a direct connection with God.
However, the controversy against this is that there is no scripture in the Bible in support of this
point; it is an abomination to pray to the death. Before God, all believers were equal no one is

The Minimum Pay For Labour Or Services
INTRODUCTION
According to the Concise Law Dictionary, wage means the giving of a security for the
performance of anything. The money paid for labour or services usually according to specified
interval of work.
Wages, in the widest sense, mean any economic compensation paid by the employer, under some
contract, to his workers for the services rendered by them. Wages, therefore, include family
allowance, relief pay, financial support and other benefits. But, in the narrower sense, wages are
the price paid for the services of labor in the process of production and include only the
performance wages. They are composed of two parts the basic wage and other allowances.

CONCEPT OF MINIMUM, LIVING AND FAIR WAGE AS DEFINDED BY THE COMMITTEE

Based on the needs of the workers, the employer s capacity to pay and the prevailing general

Minimum Wage:
A minimum wage is a compensation paid to the workers by the employer, irrespective of his
ability to pay, for the services rendered by them. The Committee on Fair Wages said that the
minimum wages should be such which is sufficient to cover the bare physical necessities of a
worker and his family. It must include some measures for education, medical facilities and other

Fashion And Fads In The 1980 s
Imagine you were doing a research paper on a decade such as the 1980s. Where would you start?
With the economy? With politics? How about we start off with the latest fashion and fads.
Women in the 1980s wore Big Hair or a Mullet with jean jackets and vans. Lots of teens wore
Chuck Taylors (Converse). Little girls wore jelly shoes, the only shoes you could wear without
socks. What decade would research and where would you start from? I m researching the decade
called The 1980s . Topics I ve researched are fashion/fads, music/dance, recreation/leisure,
politics, economy, values/culture, inventions/technology/print, and lastly, sports. Sounds like a
lot of research, but it s pretty interesting if you think about it. There s a lot a decades to find and
research. Find the one you re interested in and start researching! Fashion was all the rage back
in the 1980s. Mostly men and women wore a mullet, kids wore their jelly shoes, and teens had
their boom boxes. But there s way more to it than fashion. There s also fads. Fads such as the
slangs PSYCHE! and Not! But fashion choices were really interesting such the fingerless gloves or

Nineteen Eighty Four is one of the most famous dystopian novels written by George Orwell in
1949. This novel depicts a desperate society where the public is manipulated by the government
coercion. Although this novel is fictional, but we have seen many scenes depicted in the novel
come true in some countries around the world. Under government coercion, the protagonist
Winston lives a miserable life with no freedom even in his own thoughts, because everyone is

Gender Beliefs Of Gender Bias In The Workplace
Gender Bias in the Workplace
Brittney A. Bray

Stereotypes
Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past
decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6%
in 2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the
modern workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act.
When evaluators don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids.
Leading to differences in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on
an unconscious level, though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists
that we routinely categorize individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by
their gender. In doing this we assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or
masculine. Men are expected to have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have
nurturing, submissive qualities. The cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and
organizational policies. Women are most vulnerable to gender discrimination and sexual harassment
when they are in a male dominated environment, they may also be perceived as a threat.
How gender stereotypes put women at a disadvantage.
When woman don t conform to their gender roles they are often criticized. For example; when

Commercial Fishing In New England
Commercial fishing in New England is not sustainable. Commercial fishing is the catching of fish
for profit and, as with other profit making activities, there are trade offs between a pure capitalistic
market and the damage it does to resources. For commercial fishing, this trade off is that the more
fishthe fishermen catch, the more damage it does to the fish population. To make commercial fishing
sustainable, large regulations need to be in place, as Jack said. However, large regulations of a
free market are usually not accepted in America and would not be put in place in time to save the
fish and sustain commercial fishing.
The population of many fish species have decreased drastically through the years and, even with
current regulations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of Capitalism according to Merriam Webster is an economic system characterized
by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private
decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by
competition in a Free Market. This means that the free market, or in this case commercial fishing,
is not controlled by the government because that is the definition of capitalism. Having big
restrictions on fishing would be seen as a restriction of the free market. Although regulations are put
on the free market, the size of regulations needed to sustain fish population and save commercial
fishing would not be tolerated by many political parties. The regulations would never be put in
place. Unless America changes its capitalist view, the large regulations needed to sustain
commercial fishing will not happen.
The changes needed for sustainable fishing are too big and do not fit with America s view of the
economic system. Unfortunately, without these changes, the fish population will continue to
decline. So, you can see that sustainable fishing in new England is not possible. Although New
England and the US cannot have sustainable fishing because of their capitalistic values, as shown
throughout history their values may

Why Children Choose to Murder
The reason for choosing this topic was because I have always been fascinated as to why children
do these crimes, were there warning signs before? I don t understand why children choose to
murder; I also would like to learn what was studied and why young children do such crimes. I
would like to also learn the background of these children, what they were exposed to, what
characters they all have in common.
Adams, K. A. The Child Who Murders: A Review of Theory and Research. Criminal Justice and
Behavior 1 (1974): 51 61.
Child murders come from a different social economic background. It s hard to define what a child
murder is. They often range from different personality some are aggressive, withdrawn, some
can be cruel. Many children who murder usually kill a family member or friends. They are don t
have any are not gang related, or have any affiliation. They murder because they have built up
tension, frustrated and it could take just one incident to trigger the aggregation to kill. In the
paper it say that killing to a child means (1) it s the most complete type of personal revenge the
child has heard of; or (2) an undesired individual disappears forever. Reinhardt (1970) found most
child murders show no guilt. The youths could not give an answer to why they kill . The article
also says that children turn to murder to get away from their present situation; they find that they
have no return. It is important to find out why young children murder what causes the aggression

The Media s Portrayal Of Body Image In The Media
One of the largest components of the media s portrayal of beauty standards is body shaming, an
action that has exponentially increased with the advancement of technology. Women are exposed
daily to articles in tabloid magazines and gossip websites that shames female celebrities for what
they wearing, claiming that some women with certain body types should not be wearing certain
types of clothing. Young women and girls, who already have tumultuous relationships with their
bodies and their self images, are now subjected to a trend that can severely damage their mental
health. Shamearises when a womans body imagedoes not match the societal ideal, and a recent
study found that women who reported high levels of body shame also reported high levels of
hopeless depression, showing a correlation between the two (Evans). When women are repeatedly
told that their bodies are unacceptable to a societal ideal, it can cause them to feel as if they will
never reach this impossible standard, leading to hopeless depression. The fat shaming trend can be
apparent in many forms of media, and it is not always directed at women. An advertisements for the
children s movie Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarves exemplifies the body shaming movie. The
advertisement depicts a tall and thin Snow White standing next to a shorter and heavier image of
herself, with the tag line What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 dwarves not so
short? (Ferguson). The advertisement insinuates that the thinner

Examples Of Racial Stereotyping
Racial Stereotyping
Racial stereotyping is a classification of beliefs about distinctive characteristics of members of the
same ethnic race. While some claim that it is apart of the past and does not exist today, many
factors prove otherwise. In today s society, racial stereotyping is evident in police brutality cases,
the mass media, and in the film industry.
Racial stereotyping is still evident today proven by police brutality being justified. Over 20
percent of black unarmed people killed by police are women (Martis 1). When questioned why the
officer had to shoot them, their responses imply that it was because she was an angry black woman.
These women that are killed, despite being unarmed, were not combative or argumentative with ...

The World Of The Age Of Medi Entertainment And Relevancy
Living in the Age of Media: Entertainment and Relevancy
The significant presence of electronic media has gradually become a crisis of society s
problems. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we
are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and
television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by
discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and
education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial
media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on
society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into
a form of show business.
Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect
towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and
instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example,
take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. The
promotional margin of political figures is often taken as a means of self interest, voting for the
most likeable candidate. Gone are the days of understanding and voting for Republicans or
Democratic parties. Politics are devalued into forms of imagery,

Analysis Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
The beginning of the scene starts us off at a churchyard, where we first see two clowns, also
known as gravediggers; start up a conversation about Ophelia s death. Strangely, this is actually
supposed to be the comic relief of the story. Between their conversations, the first clown believes
that her death was not by of nature and was indeed a suicide, and since suicide is a sin against
God, she should not technically be allowed to be buried in a Christian graveyard. While the
second clown defends her for a bit, they both eventually came into an agreement about the
argument. As for Ophelia, she is lucky that her family is rich and has power with the king, so they
were somewhat able to make an exception. After that, they had a humorous that invokes the Bible
and to the art of gallows making.
That, however, came to an end as Hamlet and Horatio enters in the scene approaches the site.
While the second gravedigger goes to fetch some liquor, the first gravedigger decides to continue
with his work, as well as singing while he was working. While singing, Hamlet overhears it, and
believes that there may be some sort of problem. As the singing continues, the first gravedigger
finds and throws away a skull out of the hole. At this moment, Hamlet decides to be philosophical
once more, and starts to talk about how the skulls used to be when they were alive and their
occupation. Then, he threw another skull out of the hole, thus having the same conversation about
who they once were.

Midsummer Night s Dream Supernatural
The rule of law, supernatural, and commoners in a chaos.
A Midsummer Night s Dream is a comedy play unfolding in three juxtaposed settings. It shows the
events related to the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus and Hyppolita including adventures
of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur commoners/actors who are manipulated
by fairies and their supernatural tricks. The author of this play is William Shakespeare.
The three settings of the play are the forest, the Dukes Palace, and the Quince s cottage. All the
mysterious and magical events take place in the forest. It is full of emotions and feelings. In
contrast with the forest, things happening in the palace and the characters seem to be guardians of
the law and order. The Quince s cottage is full of humor and jokes and represents a lower class
society in contrast to the Duke s palace.

The Impact Of The Internet And The Computer Revolution
INTORDUCTION
The computer revolution that started in middle of the 20th Century is potentially just as significant
as the industrial revolution that began two centuries before it and may well turn out to have even
more impact on the way that human beings live, work and communicate with each other. One of
the major developments to come out of the advances in computer and communication technology
was the creation of the internet, an innovation with effects on the economic and social development
of humanity that are still evolving and being assessed .2
The internet revolution has transformed the way we live, work, communicate and do business,
creating new techniques that are a feature of our daily lives. The effects may not all be positive,
however. Increasing restrictions and spying by governments, individual privacy, child pornography,
Internet frauds, bullying are just a few examples of negatives that the internet has brought with it.
Usage of Internet
Internet availability is not limited to computers or laptops now a days. Even mobile phones with
internet facility are available at affordable process helping indirectly the internet to reach maximum
number of users. In the recent years everything is related or trying to relate to internet. Television
took more than 25 years to reach 10 million users where as computers took more than 10 years to
reach the same number. But internet took less than 5 years to reach the same number.
In developing countries like India more than 40% of people are using internet and the purposes of
internet usage is diverse. People are using internet for social networking, to know news instantly, to
listen to music, to search or know something etc.3
Many positive and negative aspects of the internet affect our society. One major impact the internet
is used for today is communication for people working. Communication has a positive

Murillo s Representations of Seville
BartolomГ© Esteban Murillo was a Spanish Baroque painter born in Seville in late December
of 1617. While many of his contemporaries would leave their native lands to seek commissions
elsewhere, Murillo stayed true to his roots and remained in Seville for most of his life, with the
exception of two short stays in Madrid: one from 1642 1645 and the other for several months in
1658. While these excursions particularly the first played a noteworthy role in the development of
his personal style, Murillo ultimately chose to found his Academy of Painting in his hometown.

international recognition during his artistic career. He is best known for his religious... Show more

At the age of fifteen, he began training in the studio of Juan del Castillo, a Venetian influenced
Sevillian painter who went on to only be recognized in history as the teacher of Murillo. In 1642,
Murillo took the money that he had earned by making crude tempera paintings called sargas and
moved to Madrid, where he studied the works of Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. He even had the
opportunity to study with VelГЎzquez for a short time, though Murillo never ended up doing royal
court art. He received his first commission in 1645 from the Convent of San Francisco, and he
ascended to become one of the predominant painters of his city over the course of the 1650s. This
increased renown was fueled by a commission to create paintings for the Seville Cathedral. In 1648,
Murillo married DoГ±a Beatriz Cabrera and went on to have three children with her. His works
became high in demand and he received many important commissions, both from churches and
from individual collectors and merchants, particularly those who had come to Spain from the
Netherlands. He died in 1682 while in the process of making a cycle of paintings for a church in
Cadiz. During the mid 17th century, the period of Murillo s rise to prominence, Seville was a

American History Retells World War II
American history retells World War II (WWII) stories about heroes, and their contribution to the
success in ending the conflict between Japan and the United States (U.S.). The U.S. Military s
attempt to seize key islands in the South Pacific seem futile as Japanese Imperial Intelligence Teams
(JIIT) monitored U.S. communications systems. Messages intercepted by the JITT compromised
U.S. Military synchronization activities, putting their efforts and the lives of American Soldier s at
risk. The Navajo Code Talkerprogram is the U.S. Marine Corps solution to secure communications.
World War I (WWI) introduced the concept of securing lines of communication with a foreign
language not used by both sides during the war. Innovative combat Commanders utilized Native
Americans and their language within their ranks to send secure message. These Native
transmissions had flaws. The messages transmitted in the native language did not have a coded
format. Military terms for rank, weapons, and vehicles also did not exist in the Native vocabulary.
At the conclusion of WWI, the Germans identified the Native American tribes by their language
used during the war, exploiting and deterring any further similar attempts to secure messages. The
U.S. Military ceased further improvements into the augmentation of native languages and radio
communication.

Marxism Essay
Marxism Marxist criticism is inherently existentialist. One cannot know anything without having
been exposed to it as some sort of life experience. There is no knowledge a priori, as some of the
ancient philosophers would have us believe. Rather, knowledge is accumulated a posteriori,
through actual experience. Therefore, there is almost nothing that is inherent and absolute in our
knowledge. It can never be purely objective, as knowledge is absorbed through the grid of our
own perceptions, and that grid is in turn formed through our youthful socialization within our
particular culture. For this reason, Marxist analysis does not allow gut feeling or individual bias to
play too great a role in the debate. It is more important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What possible reason could there be for this except to instill greater respect for police officers
lives and fear into their would be assassins? One may argue that police officers are exposed to
more dangerous situations than the average citizen, but no more so than your average criminal.
It is because people perceive cops as good, as agents that preserve the social order, that their lives
are accorded more respect. Of course, preserving the social order preserves the status quo of
power, keeping those at the top in power and those at the bottom in deprivation. The police are
thus representatives of the authorities at the top of the social hierarchy, and this is where they
derive their power and respect. On the other hand, criminals are locked up in cages and exposed
to an environment purposefully made horrendous. Under the good and bad retributive theories, it
is better to create a hell on earth for these bad guys as some sort of payback for the suffering they
have caused others. An eye for an eye hearkens back to the Laws of Hammurabi, but there does not
seem to be a readily available modern explanation for why society propagates suffering with
retributive theories of punishment. There are also utilitarian theories of punishment: we are
keeping the felons off the street for the greater safety of the non felons. However, utilitarian theories

One such weakness is its inability to attack anything behind its main body. The walker would
have to turn completely around to engage a target behind it thus exposing itself to the direction
it was previously facing. One of the most commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it
high center of gravity, making it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this
weakness is when the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the
walker s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over. The
walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another weakness is the
flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the craft and the head. One direct
blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The platting on the underbelly of the walker is
slightly weaker and easier to damage. The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops
beneath its main body, where the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged.
One other big weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the
smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its fastest on flat
smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily forested areas like the moon of

Hindu And Afterlife Similarities
Hindus believe that life is a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, governed by Karma. They believe
that every action has an effect that counts towards the next life. This is called the law of Karma.
Buddhists believe that the main goal is to achieve nirvana in the afterlife. Rotating prayer wheels is
a ritualof Tibetan Buddhists. The wheels have mantras or sacred chants inscribed on them. They are
said to release benevolent forces and bring merit to the worshipper. While Hinduismand Buddhism
come from the same cultural backgrounds, their rites of passages have vastly different traditions
and their beliefs on the afterlife, deity and ritual are extremely diverse.
Being born in a Hindu family, I have only experienced one rite of passage i.e. birth. When a baby
is born into a Hindu family, a little amount of honey is put in his or her mouth and the name of
God is whispered in his or her ear to welcome the baby into the world. Ten to twelve days after
the birth, the priest announces the baby s name and prayers are said. Within the initial years of
her life, a Hindu girl has to go through an ear piercing ceremony, which is considered to be a
significant event. Both boys and girls receive a Mundan , which is a ritual where the baby s head
is shaved when he or she turns 1 year old. Buddhism is different from other religions because it

Strategic recommendations include not only being careful when using credit cards, but also
limiting yourself to what you can afford so that you will be able to look forward to other
possibilities in your financial future. These possibilities include, but are not limited to, buying a car,
a house, a boat, vacation, etc.
Many college students and graduate students need money for school or other needs because
they do not work but just go to school. A credit card is a great opportunity for them to purchase
what they need to get through each and every day. Although this can be very helpful it can cause
problems because some students needs are different than others but you can also look into
different ways to overcome these habits. Perhaps the greatest disadvantage of using credit is the
temptation to overspend, especially during periods of inflation. Buying today and paying
tomorrow, using cheaper dollars, seems ideal. But continual overspending can lead to serious
trouble (Focus on Personal Finance Edition 5, 2015). Some needs college students have can
range anywhere from toiletries and clothes to partying in your dorm or buying drinks for
friends. Using a credit card is a great opportunity to borrow money without having to spend what
you have at the time and can be risky throughout every day purchases. The problem with credit
cards is that it s easy to abuse them. That is what makes them a very popular sinkhole. (Credit
Card Debt What You Need to Know, n.d.) Overspending on a credit card can not only create stress
as to how you will pay them back but will also create a financial whole for your future.

Animal Cells And Their Functions
Animal cells and their functions
Cell Membrane
The cell surface membrane is a semi permeable membrane whose function is to control the
exchange of substances between the cell and its environment. Semi permeable means that only
certain molecules are allowed to be transported in and out of the cell. The membrane is mainly
made up of Lipid and protein. On the diagram, the Cell Membrane forms the outer shell of the
animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it.
Nucleus
The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the
nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell
inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus
controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control
centre of a cell. On the diagram, the nucleolus can be located as the black dot in the middle of the
Nucleus, and is the main site for ribosome formation.
Nuclear Membrane
The Nuclear Membrane surrounds the Nucleus, which is known as a Porous Membrane. This is
covered in pores, which are tiny holes that allow the exchange of RNA to move between the
nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins that are desired by the Nucleus are also able to move through
these pores.
Nucleolus
The Nucleolus is the organelle structure inside the nucleus; it supports the synthesis of ribosomes,
which is where the Ribosomal RNA is produced. Some cells

Essay on A Rhetorical Analysis of the Killing Joke
One Bad Day: A Rhetorical Analysis of The Killing Joke
The Joker was once seen as a comical criminal who committed ridiculously silly crimes, such as
spreading laughing gas throughout Gotham City. However, after the reinvention of Batman, The
Joker was transformed into a grave and terrorizing character. Continuing the course of the new
personality given to The Joker, writer Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland created a graphic novel
called The Killing Joke, a much more complex, darker, and ultimately, frightening story
(Wooldridge) which tells one of the origins of The Joker since The Joker himself is unsure of his
true inception. However, this particular graphic novel isn t about how the Joker came to be, it s an
examination of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moore continues his effort as the story unravels in a later scene where The Joker captures
Gordon and shows him photographs of Barbara, who is gravely wounded and stripped naked.
Moore vividly illustrates Gordon s anger and shock, causing the readers to sympathize with his
feeling of despair and perceive that The Joker s plan to force Gordon into a psychotic break
(Wooldridge) may be succeeding. In this scene, The Joker has Gordon trapped on his Ghost
Train ride, Gordon s face in shock as it dawns on him that the person in the horrific images is his
own daughter. Moore presents Gordon s face in an extreme close up, which is a framing in
which the scale of the object shown is very large (Yale Film Studies). The only other thing that
can be seen is half the face of The Joker s minion, who attempts to keep Gordon down; everything
else is red, except for their eyes and teeth. Moore uses this particular framing method so that the
audience can see Gordon s aged, appalled, and unkempt face, emphasizing his distress and his
loss of control. The red on the faces of the characters in this panel highlights the emotions that
Gordon feels: hopelessness, shock, and dismay. The yellow eyes and teeth underscore the
horrified look on Gordon s face. The Joker has forced Gordon to realize that his family has been
irreparably harmed, and that he is unable to do anything about it. Moore

Comparing Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince Essay
Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince
A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none...A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant
to all, subject to none. (Luther Pg. 7) These lines show what Luther is truly about. In Christian
Liberty, Luther believes in the reestablishing of God as the inner authority. In Utopia, Thomas More
believes the power should be in one group and that the rest of the common people in the society
should all be equal like a communist society. In The Prince, Machievelli believes that the power is
within the prince. I choose Christian Liberty as the best form of authority because it is the closest
to being an honest and true way of authority. Although noneof the books portray ... Show more

Is not such a soul most obedient to God in all things by this faith? ...What more complete
fulfillment is there than obedience in all things? This obedience, however, is not rendered by
works but by faith alone. (Luther page 13) In this passage Luther is explaining the inner man
versus the outer man. He is showing that if you trust and believe in God then he will never steer
you wrong but if you don t then, what greater wickedness, what greater contempt of God is there
than not believing his promise...but to make God a liar or to doubt that he is truthful? That is to
ascribe truthfulness to one s self but lying and vanity in God?
This quote shows the dismal side of not believing in God and his supreme power and authority. If
you were to doubt him whom would you go to for salvation once he gave up on you?
Man has a two fold nature, a spiritual and a bodily one. According to the spiritual nature, which
men refer to as the soul, he is called a spiritual, inner or new man. According to the bodily nature
which men refer to as flesh, he is called a carnal, outward, or old man. (Luther page 7) We have
first talked about the spiritual aspect of a person now we are going to talk about the physical aspect.
Now let us turn to the second part, the outer man. Here we shall answer all those who, offended by
the word faith and by all that

Cause And Effects Of The Flopped Crusades
The Flopped Crusade The Crusaders were created by Pope Innocent III in 1889. The Crusaders
fought against Christian blood, just to have more money. The Crusaders were not even in it for
religious purposes. The Crusaders failed to support enough troops, and made a decision to either
stick with the Christians, their own religion, or to ditch their religion and all of its beliefs. In the
end, Alexius III, the person who was going to give the Crusaders the money, did not have any and
the Crusaders ended up not getting any money, but sacking Constantinople. The fourth Crusadewas
one of the most unsuccessful events in history. The Crusaders made lots of wrong choices.
According to catholic.com, They did not have the money to pay the Venetians and Dandolo s
offer proved problematic, as Zara was controlled by King Emeric of Hungary, who had
previously taken the Cross; therefore, his lands were protected by the Church, and attacking a
Crusader s land resulted in excommunication (Weidenkopf). The Crusaders chose to be
excommunicated over being Christian with a debt they had to pay off and were acting like
peasants. They would take any deal they saw and thought that the dealers would not scam or rip
them off. They were little pawns for the dealer to mess with. They were not even given the money
in the end. The Crusaders were just manipulated the Crusaders to do the dirty work for Dandolo.
Another wrong choice they made was disobeying the letters from the pope. According to

Statue Of Winchester Research Paper
What is the statue of Winchester?
The Statute of Winchester was written in 1285. It indicated a breakdown in the traditional system
of law enforcement and peacekeeping. Essentially, the statute of Winchester provided the legislative
basis for law enforcement in England. the statue Reaffirmed the position of a constable and
empowered urban constables to draft citizens as unpaid watchmen.
During the 13th century, England was going through substantial social change. With the social
change, the cities became larger and less organized by shared experiences and family power and
were replaced by urban living. The shift from a rural society to a commercial, industrial, urban and
the decline of the constable created a new innovation called watchmen. ... Show more content on

Watchmen used illegal and disruptive behavior to gain order maintenance and control. The duty
of the watchmen was to provide support to the constable. The watchmen arrested those who were
violating the law or disturbing the peace. these men would follow the watch and ward system
calling out anything strange and pursuing the criminals. The watch and ward was the first
organized attempt at policing. It consisted of a system. The hue and cry were established during
this time, requiring citizens to come to aid watchmen calling for help. The people that did not
come to aid watchmen during a hue and cry, where considered accomplices and punished as
criminals. Watchman style policing places an emphasis on violations of law and relies on threats
of arrest or actual arrests. Think of it as strict enforcement of criminal law. The watchman style of
policing can be compared to the Los Angeles police officers who took part in the beating of Rodney
King, while some officers took part in disciplining other just

How Does Thomas Jefferson Use Ethos In The Declaration Of...
Thomas Jefferson s The Declaration of Independence shook the world when it was released on
July 4, 1776. Jefferson was in charge of draft the document announcing that the colonies have
severed ties with Great Britain. Jefferson s strong use of anaphora, ethos, and diction generates a
compelling document. Jefferson uses anaphora for the majority of the Declaration of
Independence . This is because he wants the grievances to be easily identifiable to the audience.
He starts off with To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world as a signal that the
following text is under the same idea (Jefferson 238). Jefferson then uses He has... to list each and
every grievances in no significant order to give clarify the actions King George did to the colonies
(238). Jefferson also uses anaphora when the colonists tries to appeal to Great Britain. We been
wanting in attentions to our British brethren...we have conjured them by the ties of our common
kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and
correspondence (Jefferson 240). He emphasize the voices of the colonists of their ignored pleas by
the laws of King George.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 3. Public Relations, Advertisement, And Marketing Rae Elizabeth Knobloch 09 03 15 PR Paper P.A.M. Many are unclear on the differences between public relations, advertisement, and marketing. They are very different and each has distinct characteristics that define their roles in the workforce. When public relations, marketing, and advertisement are used together they can be used to form a very successful plan if used to their full advantages. Worldwide, people aren t sure what public relationsrole is in the workplace. Public relations is a planned communication that builds relationships between organizations (What is Public Relations). Someone who works in the public relations field can find themselves doing a number of tasks daily. Planning, implementing, researching, and evaluating are just some of the key tasks when working in the field (What is Public Relations). The main goal of public relations is building a reputation for a company since in today s competitive market reputation can make or break a company. The main goal of public relations is to manage and spread information to create a favorable image for the organization through various media outlets. (Public Relations). When someone mentions the word advertisement the most common things to come to mind are, newspaper, billboards, and commercials. Advertisement can be a paid announcement, a public notice, or the act of making something known (Advertisement). • 4. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zizzou Analysis The magic of film is that it can tightly control what the viewer sees. A camera s ability to let directors decide what is explicitly shown and what is merely implied makes it a powerful storytelling tool. The average director wishes to immerse the viewer as much as possible, using lavish special effects and high tech equipment to hide the artificiality of the film under a thick layer of polish. When a film breaks this immersion it is usually considered to be a technical or creative failure. Other films for various reasons decide to deliberately either break the viewers immersion or never immerse them in the first place. A good example of one of these deliberately false films is The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou, directed by Wes Anderson in 2004. Without giving much detail it is the story of Steve Zizzou (portrayed by Bill Murray,) a documentarist and oceanographer who vows to avenge a comrade who was allegedly killed by a jaguar shark. However though the course of the film it is revealed that the eponymous character is not the knowledgeable adventurer that he claims to be, in fact being an incompetent hack more concerned with wealth and prestige than anything else. Though Zizzou s films appear to have adequate production values it is revealed that much of it is inaccurate or even fabricated for the sake of showmanship. Anderson uses broken immersion as a metacommentary or analogy of the fake nature of Zizzou s documentaries and his phony persona. An excellent example of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Craig Martin On Jainism Craig Martin stated, The world is not just there for us to find and discover rather, we make the world what it is through our use of language. (21). This further expands on the notion that human beings are the makers of social constructs and social roles; we make these categories that we place ourselves and others in to give each other a sense of identity. Human beings like to be in control of their world and everything in it. Anything that tries to disrupt that or is outside of their control brings a sense of chaos. In the words of Craig Martin, a meritocracy is defined as a society in which people get what they earn, deserve or merit (72). Aidan Rankin a researcher wrote a book titled Jainism and ethical finance drawing global awareness to the culture of Jainism and it s ability to sustain those that practice it for years. The article stated, Jains make one of the largest per capita communities of accountants, financiers and entrepreneurs in the world yet they operate quietly and simply, that is why they remain unnoticed. Finance has been in their DNA for centuries. This further expatiates on when the short video classified Jains as prosperous merchants in India. This raises some ethical questions on how Jains have been able to be prosperous without any support of violence in their careers. Jainism seems to be a religion that can only be realistic in India because it is recognized as a major religion there and they have lived there for so long they have been able to build a community that supports and encourages their practices culturally and environmentally. A question that may be raised is what is the definition of prosperity, is it defined my money, which is made from paper that comes from trees? Also the fact that a book also made from several trees was written to support and maybe convert those that read it into the practice is a bit ironic. The last ethical issue that what could the Jain merchants possibly be selling that is a result of non violence of any animal or plants that can bring about so much prosperity that it is news worthy. Jainism seems to a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Swot Analysis Of Topshop Topshop Overview Topshop was founded in 1964 in Sheffield England as a high fashion store for the young and different generation. Today they currently have over 500 store locations across 58 countries and 86 of them in the United States. They still follow the same young and high fashion identity that the store was built on. Introduction Topshop Green One thing that is missing from the current market place is a fast fashion store that carries eco friendly clothing. There is currently no store that has a fast supply chain and produces inexpensive clothing for a low price. Fast Fashion is one of the worst things that has happened to our environment because of how the clothes are made and how fast they are being thrown out by consumers. A missing category in the fast fashion industry is an ethical/ sustainable clothing. Topshop Green will fill in this niche market that is just starting to come together. This line will focus on fashion forward clothing but the first thought when creating the clothes will be how to make them as ecofriendly as possible. This line will target the millennial generation because they are the most aware of what s going on with our planet and will be attracted to a sustainable clothing line. Target Customer Our target customer will be females 18 35 year olds, which is the Millennial Generation. • 7. Narrative Narrative I never would have guessed a simple trip home would turn into a life or death situation. It was the end of summer in 2008; my mom, grandma, and I were coming home from our short vacation we take every summer to Ames, Iowa while my brother and dad go to Alaska. The sun shimmered down on us as we cruised down the various roads to arrive back home. The traffic was frantic that day forcing our old, rusty, black avalanche to exceed the maximum speed limit on Highway 13. We neared Central City, Iowa, approximately 20 minutes from our countryside home while I quietly played on my mom s old blackberry phone. My mom mentioned previously that it began to appear quite gloomy in the sky. I slowly rolled down the back window next to my seat. The heavy, damp smell of a stormemerged into my nose like a frog approaching its prey. Ominous clouds shifted back and forth in the sky when mom finally told me to check the weather radar on her phone while she tuned the radio into a weather station. The radio signal only let out various pitches of static. Before I could check the radar, a loud boom rumbled in front of me; my mom slammed on the brakes, and my grandma began latching onto her arm rest. A massive oak tree lay in front of us on the road, blocking all oncoming traffic. Somehow mom managed to swerve around the tree as the now impending storm began to swirl around us. Within a matter of seconds, hail pounded our windshield, rain blinded the outside world, and the wind whipped even faster, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Detrimental Effects of Concussions In recent years concussions have become more and more of a topic due to their effects on the people who receives them. Concussions can cause a multitude of problems for a person later in their life whether they suffered from a major concussion or just a minor concussion. These problems can occur if a person ended up with multiple concussions over a lifetime or if they only have had one single concussion The problems a person can encounter are all somewhat connected but very diverse at the same time. Most of the problems a person will encounter will be due to a change in that person s brainbut they can range from simple memory problems to suicidal problems. The problem with concussions are that not everybody takes them serious enough. Some people like football players will just blow it off. After taking a big hit and barely being able to get to the sidelines they will be right back in the game on the next possession. Others like coaches might not take a player s concussion serious because they know without that player they might not be able to win thus putting the players long term health into effect. Concussions are very devastating and cause many people future problems no matter what some doctors say. The brain is an organ that is essential to everything people do. Whether it is remembering something or just talking to someone the brain is in charge of it. MRPS impose an obligation that requires the issuer to transfer assets or issue into equity shares. Unless the redemption of redeemable stock is required to occur only upon the liquidation or termination of the reporting entity, the stock should be classified as a liability. Large firms that are under this category do issue MRPS, as the result of this, the effect of this new standard as potentially eliminating the net worth of the non public companies that have issued MRPS. (Schroeder, Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The other issue at the beginning of the conversion of MRPS from not being reported as a liability to being required to report the MRPS is a liability on the balance sheet. This would have caused debt covenant violations, which would have hampered the firm s ability to borrow additional debt. Not only will firms balance sheets show an increase in liabilities, but also ratios related to a firm s debt will be affected, as well. • 10. Section 8 Housing Case Study I chose to focus on the rent voucher/section 8 housing, because it is very common in my town and the surrounding towns I grew up in. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord, who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8 housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of dishonest officials (Palen, 255). The construction of new low income housing has seen its share of failures in the past , which is why rent vouchers tend to be more common rather than building a whole low income housing unit that could... The busy hustle and bustle of the halls of chattering kids walking to class and teachers shouting in different directions. All of this appeared to me highly surreal; I might have been there physically, but I was not entirely there psychologically. To me, it was all a moving picture in mute. I could see, feel, smell, and taste, but I could not listen. I was only able to perceive gabble, meaningless sounds that were meant to be words, but, unfortunately, did not make any sense. • 12. Employee Violations In Employment Law The Employment law regulates the relationship between the employer and employee so they can engage in fair and ethical employment practices. It is especially important for employers to know and refer to employment law in the context of employment. This is because the courts are more likely to protect employees from unfair treatments as they generally believe employees are in weaker bargaining position than their employer. I.What employment violations has the employer committed, if any? According to the case, Sally found out her employer unilaterally changed her job without providing reasonable notice of the change. In Canada, employers generally have the right to make changes to the terms of employment if it is reasonably necessary and employees have the right to be notified and consulted before any changes were imposed. In other words, one party cannot impose a change to the terms of contract without first notifying and securing the consent of the other party (Yates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In considering Sally s case, the court would apply the same test they have established in 2015 to determine a constructive dismissal for the case of Potter v. Although many have accomplished this feat on their own, many of us require some form of guidance. To begin, it is critical to limit the term broke as financially bankrupt. It began with the early church, first martyrs then the public claim did the choosing of these saints; however, this way was thought to be democratic despite the information being distorted and some of it never even existed. How about we start off with the latest fashion and fads. Women in the 1980s wore Big Hair or a Mullet with jean jackets and vans. Lots of teens wore Chuck Taylors (Converse). Little girls wore jelly shoes, the only shoes you could wear without socks. What decade would research and where would you start from? I m researching the decade called The 1980s . • 21. Gender Beliefs Of Gender Bias In The Workplace Gender Bias in the Workplace Brittney A. Bray College of Central Florida Stereotypes Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6% in 2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the modern workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act. When evaluators don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids. Leading to differences in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on an unconscious level, though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists that we routinely categorize individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by their gender. In doing this we assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or masculine. Men are expected to have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have nurturing, submissive qualities. The cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and organizational policies. Women are most vulnerable to gender discrimination and sexual harassment when they are in a male dominated environment, they may also be perceived as a threat. Commercial fishing is the catching of fish for profit and, as with other profit making activities, there are trade offs between a pure capitalistic market and the damage it does to resources. For commercial fishing, this trade off is that the more fishthe fishermen catch, the more damage it does to the fish population. To make commercial fishing sustainable, large regulations need to be in place, as Jack said. However, large regulations of a free market are usually not accepted in America and would not be put in place in time to save the fish and sustain commercial fishing. The population of many fish species have decreased drastically through the years and, even with current regulations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The definition of Capitalism according to Merriam Webster is an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a Free Market. This means that the free market, or in this case commercial fishing, is not controlled by the government because that is the definition of capitalism. Having big restrictions on fishing would be seen as a restriction of the free market. Although regulations are put on the free market, the size of regulations needed to sustain fish population and save commercial fishing would not be tolerated by many political parties. The regulations would never be put in place. Unless America changes its capitalist view, the large regulations needed to sustain commercial fishing will not happen. The changes needed for sustainable fishing are too big and do not fit with America s view of the economic system. Unfortunately, without these changes, the fish population will continue to decline. So, you can see that sustainable fishing in new England is not possible. • 24. The Media s Portrayal Of Body Image In The Media One of the largest components of the media s portrayal of beauty standards is body shaming, an action that has exponentially increased with the advancement of technology. Women are exposed daily to articles in tabloid magazines and gossip websites that shames female celebrities for what they wearing, claiming that some women with certain body types should not be wearing certain types of clothing. Young women and girls, who already have tumultuous relationships with their bodies and their self images, are now subjected to a trend that can severely damage their mental health. Shamearises when a womans body imagedoes not match the societal ideal, and a recent study found that women who reported high levels of body shame also reported high levels of hopeless depression, showing a correlation between the two (Evans). When women are repeatedly told that their bodies are unacceptable to a societal ideal, it can cause them to feel as if they will never reach this impossible standard, leading to hopeless depression. The fat shaming trend can be apparent in many forms of media, and it is not always directed at women. An advertisements for the children s movie Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarves exemplifies the body shaming movie. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into a form of show business. Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example, take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. Strangely, this is actually supposed to be the comic relief of the story. Between their conversations, the first clown believes that her death was not by of nature and was indeed a suicide, and since suicide is a sin against God, she should not technically be allowed to be buried in a Christian graveyard. While the second clown defends her for a bit, they both eventually came into an agreement about the argument. As for Ophelia, she is lucky that her family is rich and has power with the king, so they were somewhat able to make an exception. After that, they had a humorous that invokes the Bible and to the art of gallows making. That, however, came to an end as Hamlet and Horatio enters in the scene approaches the site. While the second gravedigger goes to fetch some liquor, the first gravedigger decides to continue with his work, as well as singing while he was working. While singing, Hamlet overhears it, and believes that there may be some sort of problem. As the singing continues, the first gravedigger finds and throws away a skull out of the hole. One of the most commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it high center of gravity, making it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this weakness is when the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the walker s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over. The walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another weakness is the flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the craft and the head. One direct blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The platting on the underbelly of the walker is slightly weaker and easier to damage. The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops beneath its main body, where the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged. One other big weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its fastest on flat smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily forested areas like the moon of Endor where its usage was far less than the ... • 40. Hindu And Afterlife Similarities Hindus believe that life is a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, governed by Karma. They believe that every action has an effect that counts towards the next life. This is called the law of Karma. Buddhists believe that the main goal is to achieve nirvana in the afterlife. Rotating prayer wheels is a ritualof Tibetan Buddhists. The wheels have mantras or sacred chants inscribed on them. They are said to release benevolent forces and bring merit to the worshipper. While Hinduismand Buddhism come from the same cultural backgrounds, their rites of passages have vastly different traditions and their beliefs on the afterlife, deity and ritual are extremely diverse. Being born in a Hindu family, I have only experienced one rite of passage i.e. birth. When a baby is born into a Hindu family, a little amount of honey is put in his or her mouth and the name of God is whispered in his or her ear to welcome the baby into the world. Ten to twelve days after the birth, the priest announces the baby s name and prayers are said. Within the initial years of her life, a Hindu girl has to go through an ear piercing ceremony, which is considered to be a significant event. Both boys and girls receive a Mundan , which is a ritual where the baby s head is shaved when he or she turns 1 year old. Buddhism is different from other religions because it does not have a God. They instead follow the Dhamma the teachings of Buddha. In Buddhism, when a baby is born, based on the time of birth, monks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Disadvantages Of Credit Cards Credit cards are used as a foundation for setting college students up financial future. Although this may be true, it can also bring you down every time you swipe. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate that credit cards can be dangerous because it can lead to debt and the toll it could take on the future financially. College graduates in their late 20s can face three major issues such as overspending, high interest rates, and possibly low credit scores when dealing with credit carddebt. Strategic recommendations include not only being careful when using credit cards, but also limiting yourself to what you can afford so that you will be able to look forward to other possibilities in your financial future. These possibilities include, but are not limited to, buying a car, a house, a boat, vacation, etc. Many college students and graduate students need money for school or other needs because they do not work but just go to school. A credit card is a great opportunity for them to purchase what they need to get through each and every day. Although this can be very helpful it can cause problems because some students needs are different than others but you can also look into different ways to overcome these habits. Perhaps the greatest disadvantage of using credit is the temptation to overspend, especially during periods of inflation. Buying today and paying tomorrow, using cheaper dollars, seems ideal. But continual overspending can lead to serious trouble (Focus on Personal Finance Edition 5, 2015). Some needs college students have can range anywhere from toiletries and clothes to partying in your dorm or buying drinks for friends. Using a credit card is a great opportunity to borrow money without having to spend what you have at the time and can be risky throughout every day purchases. The problem with credit cards is that it s easy to abuse them. That is what makes them a very popular sinkhole. (Credit Card Debt What You Need to Know, n.d.) Overspending on a credit card can not only create stress as to how you will pay them back but will also create a financial whole for your future. • 42. Animal Cells And Their Functions Animal cells and their functions Cell Membrane The cell surface membrane is a semi permeable membrane whose function is to control the exchange of substances between the cell and its environment. Semi permeable means that only certain molecules are allowed to be transported in and out of the cell. The membrane is mainly made up of Lipid and protein. On the diagram, the Cell Membrane forms the outer shell of the animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it. Nucleus The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control centre of a cell. On the diagram, the nucleolus can be located as the black dot in the middle of the Nucleus, and is the main site for ribosome formation. Nuclear Membrane The Nuclear Membrane surrounds the Nucleus, which is known as a Porous Membrane. This is covered in pores, which are tiny holes that allow the exchange of RNA to move between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins that are desired by the Nucleus are also able to move through these pores. Nucleolus The Nucleolus is the organelle structure inside the nucleus; it supports the synthesis of ribosomes, which is where the Ribosomal RNA is produced. Some cells ... • 43. Essay on A Rhetorical Analysis of the Killing Joke One Bad Day: A Rhetorical Analysis of The Killing Joke The Joker was once seen as a comical criminal who committed ridiculously silly crimes, such as spreading laughing gas throughout Gotham City. However, after the reinvention of Batman, The Joker was transformed into a grave and terrorizing character. Continuing the course of the new personality given to The Joker, writer Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland created a graphic novel called The Killing Joke, a much more complex, darker, and ultimately, frightening story (Wooldridge) which tells one of the origins of The Joker since The Joker himself is unsure of his true inception. However, this particular graphic novel isn t about how the Joker came to be, it s an examination of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moore continues his effort as the story unravels in a later scene where The Joker captures Gordon and shows him photographs of Barbara, who is gravely wounded and stripped naked. Moore vividly illustrates Gordon s anger and shock, causing the readers to sympathize with his feeling of despair and perceive that The Joker s plan to force Gordon into a psychotic break (Wooldridge) may be succeeding. In this scene, The Joker has Gordon trapped on his Ghost Train ride, Gordon s face in shock as it dawns on him that the person in the horrific images is his own daughter. Moore presents Gordon s face in an extreme close up, which is a framing in which the scale of the object shown is very large (Yale Film Studies). The only other thing that can be seen is half the face of The Joker s minion, who attempts to keep Gordon down; everything else is red, except for their eyes and teeth. Moore uses this particular framing method so that the audience can see Gordon s aged, appalled, and unkempt face, emphasizing his distress and his loss of control. The red on the faces of the characters in this panel highlights the emotions that Gordon feels: hopelessness, shock, and dismay. The yellow eyes and teeth underscore the horrified look on Gordon s face. The Joker has forced Gordon to realize that his family has been irreparably harmed, and that he is unable to do anything about it. Moore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Comparing Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince Essay Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none...A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant to all, subject to none. (Luther Pg. 7) These lines show what Luther is truly about. In Christian Liberty, Luther believes in the reestablishing of God as the inner authority. In Utopia, Thomas More believes the power should be in one group and that the rest of the common people in the society should all be equal like a communist society. In The Prince, Machievelli believes that the power is within the prince. I choose Christian Liberty as the best form of authority because it is the closest to being an honest and true way of authority. Although noneof the books portray ... This obedience, however, is not rendered by works but by faith alone. (Luther page 13) In this passage Luther is explaining the inner man versus the outer man. He is showing that if you trust and believe in God then he will never steer you wrong but if you don t then, what greater wickedness, what greater contempt of God is there than not believing his promise...but to make God a liar or to doubt that he is truthful? That is to ascribe truthfulness to one s self but lying and vanity in God? This quote shows the dismal side of not believing in God and his supreme power and authority. If you were to doubt him whom would you go to for salvation once he gave up on you? Man has a two fold nature, a spiritual and a bodily one. According to the spiritual nature, which men refer to as the soul, he is called a spiritual, inner or new man. According to the bodily nature which men refer to as flesh, he is called a carnal, outward, or old man. (Luther page 7) We have first talked about the spiritual aspect of a person now we are going to talk about the physical aspect. Now let us turn to the second part, the outer man. • 45. Cause And Effects Of The Flopped Crusades The Flopped Crusade The Crusaders were created by Pope Innocent III in 1889. The Crusaders fought against Christian blood, just to have more money. The Crusaders were not even in it for religious purposes. The Crusaders failed to support enough troops, and made a decision to either stick with the Christians, their own religion, or to ditch their religion and all of its beliefs. In the end, Alexius III, the person who was going to give the Crusaders the money, did not have any and the Crusaders ended up not getting any money, but sacking Constantinople. The fourth Crusadewas one of the most unsuccessful events in history. The Crusaders made lots of wrong choices. According to catholic.com, They did not have the money to pay the Venetians and Dandolo s offer proved problematic, as Zara was controlled by King Emeric of Hungary, who had previously taken the Cross; therefore, his lands were protected by the Church, and attacking a Crusader s land resulted in excommunication (Weidenkopf). The Crusaders chose to be excommunicated over being Christian with a debt they had to pay off and were acting like peasants. They would take any deal they saw and thought that the dealers would not scam or rip them off. They were little pawns for the dealer to mess with. They were not even given the money in the end. Jefferson was in charge of draft the document announcing that the colonies have severed ties with Great Britain. Jefferson s strong use of anaphora, ethos, and diction generates a compelling document. Jefferson uses anaphora for the majority of the Declaration of Independence . This is because he wants the grievances to be easily identifiable to the audience.
