Laws Of Abortion Research Paper
Laws of abortion for minors in the United States
Nearly 50% of teenage parents had never told their parents that they were sexually active until they
were pregnant or had a significant other that became pregnant. (Planned Parenthood Federation of
America) Many teens don t want to tell their parents or ask for help with sexual issues they re having
an with education systems not properly educating students, many adults and teenagers are unaware of
risks and issues that can come up later in life. With funding for planned parenthood going down it is
becoming increasingly important to support and educate teenagers and minors in general about
abortion and teenage pregnancy. Everyone is doing it Is a saying that is heard over and over, and if ...

One of a few reasons that having a choice can cause issues is the age of consent, the age of consent
varies from state to state, many schools and places of education don t offer education on sexual health
and ages of consent, which leaves the decision up to the teenager. Leaving the decision up to the
mother of the baby can cause problems if an individual has decided to be sexually active that should
mean that they have come to terms with potential consequences such as potential pregnancy and std s,
but since many teenagers are uneducated they don t know exactly what could happen, Say a teenage
girl was not educated but still made the decision to be sexually active and is now paying the
consequences, she s pregnant and has very little background education on what can happen if she
keeps of if she aborts the baby. If she decides to keep the baby she may not have the ability support
the baby financially. Planned parenthood centers offer help, but if abortions become obsolete then
planned parenthood centers will become few and far between making it harder to get help many
people need and increasing the frequency of unsafe abortions. Especially in the case of minors looking
for abortions, in states that do not require parental consent or parental notification of the abortion the
individual may not tell their guardian which may result in financial problems and unsafe

Reactive Power Support And Control For Wind Farms
Reactive Power Support and control for Wind Farms
Ashish Mishra (R11324429)
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas Tech University
Final term Paper for ECE 5343 Power Systems Engineering
Abstract: This report contains details on the reactive power compensation techniques for fixed speed
wind turbines as well as the inherent reactive power support provided by the variable speed wind
turbines. This paper also reviews the latest grid codes and requirements for reactive power support by
wind farms. In the end this paper provides quantitative calculations for determining the reactive power
compensation needed for unity power factor operation by a fixed speed squirrel cage induction
generator based wind turbines.
Keywords: Reactive power support, fixed speed, variable speed, Wind Turbine, Grid code
1. Introduction Since the last decade, there has been an increased growth in the electricity production
through wind power [8]. Such increasing penetration levels of wind power in to the total generation
mix has raised several concerns to the transmission system operators. Some of the issues related to
large scale grid integration of wind power causing concern to the transmission system operators are
low voltage fault through capability, voltage support during large disturbances and unity power factor
operation [7]. This has made the regulators and transmission system operators to introduce new grid
standards and requirements for wind farms to make sure the

Essay On Entry Strategy
Abstract
This report identifies various cultural differences that leading to choice of different entry strategies

research is to push the perspective that difference in the national culture must taking into consideration
particularly when businesses establishing new start up into foreign country.
We have analysed two New Zealand Companies to gain evidence about the implication of culture on
entry mode approaches. In both cases national cultural disparity between New Zealand and Gulf
nations has significant ramifications on the selection procedure of Middle East operation structure is
imperative for both of New Zealand business. It likewise demonstrates that a uniform procedure of
entry ways to the foreign market, as recommended in the literatures reviewed on entry strategies, may
not be suitable. The decision of way in to the foreign market must decide on a case by case basis and
assess with cultural dissimilarity prior to any other decisive factor. Introduction

Educating Rita and the Devil Wears Prada Speech Into the...
The society we live in distorts our own unique desires and goals. When in a workplace or community
it puts more pressure and expectation on individuals goals, warping them until a point where one
identifies what they truly want and breaks the mould and expectations of society to do this. Examining
texts such as Educating Rita and The Devil Wears Prada in addition to my own personal experience
will bring forth an understanding of how society affects growing up and transition into new phases of
life into a larger world. The text Educating Rita is set Britain in the 1970 s, where a woman s role was

The word bursts here has connotations of confidence and her eagerness to learn. She is breaking her
social context whereas in scene one she was questioning herself.
Rita always purchases new dresses to cheer her up, but now realises she is not content with it. She
stresses to Frank that It s like me isn t it? Buying new dresses all the time, isn t it? The rhetorical
questions and repetition enhance reflection on her learning and aim to move out of the stereotype. In
new second hand clothes this is symbolic of the ease she has in the middle class and shows
juxtaposition of new second hand clothes. This has highlighted how she has changed and matured into
the middle class and doesn t require materialistic needs like a dress to satisfy her depression.
Rita in Educating Rita mirrors the same growth and change as Andrea in The Devil Wears Prada . It is
a 2006 film in times where individuals are controlled by the capitalist world and times where pleasing
your boss was the only ambition. Andrea is easily manipulated to suit her social context and
expectations of her boss. This is shown through the change in her values overtime highlighting her
new appreciation for fashion which is negatively affecting her relationships with her friends.
Andrea then grows enough to come to realisation that she is controlled by the materialistic needs of
fashion influences by the industry. This is shown thought

Theme Of Nature In Victor Frankenstein
Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven,
(mathew 19:14). This sentiment can be applied to many aspects in Mary Shelley s gothic novel
Frankenstein; From Victor frankenstein s idolatry by his parents to Victor s own dereliction of his
creation even stretching to victor s foil Robert Walton whose feeling of isolation has familial ties
attached to it. Shelley explores the multiple thematic subjects of nurture V.S. nature, responsibility,
and negligence thus perpetuating the thought that man is a direct product if his environment. The way
Robert Walton was raised contributes to his longing for fulfillment and his want to be more than he is.
Robert longs to be accepted and he fills this voyage will do just that. I shall satiate my ardent
curiosity...and may tread a land never before imprinted by the foot of man, (Shelley 2).Robert feels
this voyage will validate him. Shelley herself subtly indicts Victor s parents in exactly this way; and
[shelley] suggests an even subtler subtext of family conflict in the letters Walton writes to Margaret,
(Claridge). Robert wants this voyage to give him the recognition he lacks. It can be argued this is due
to a lack of acceptance by his Father. these volumes were my study day and night...my father s dying
injunction had forbidden my uncle to allow me to embark in a seafaring life, (Shelley 2). Waltons

The Recipe for Nature
The Recipe for Nature
Missing Works Cited
Nature is a fluid coalescence of complex magnificence resulting from an algorithmic mastery of
simplicity. It is no doubt an awe inspiring entity that invokes both great curiosity and bafflement in
those who attempt to account for its existence and splendor. It is often seen as overly reductionistic, if
not ¡§dangerous¡¨, to try to condense the (mindless?) brilliance of nature through any sort of
mechanistic or logical means. And here we are faced with what Daniel Dennett calls Darwin¡¦s
dangerous idea: ¡§that all the fruits of evolution can be explained as the products of an algorithmic
process¡¨ (Dennett, 1995 p.60). It is no surprise that this idea might present a problem for the Homo
sapien ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, chance and randomness might disallow for the concept of ¡§survival of the fittest¡¨ and
instead allow for otherwise less adept members of the species to have increased reproducibility and
thus an increased genetic impact on subsequent generations. The fact that events can alter or in part
determine which members of a species are more likely to survive and reproduce, leads to the fact that
the specific outcome (e.g., which particular genes will be passed onto the next generation) of an
algorithmic process is not fixed, just that the inherent nature of the causal procedure is. For instance,
the algorithmic process of natural selection does not provide a certain mold by which to predict the
most viable members of a species, only that it is guaranteed that the most well adapted members of a
species will necessarily correspond to the most viable.
We now return to the question of how the complexity and intricacy of nature can be accounted for by
an algorithmic process constituted by an inundation of simple steps. William Paley¡¦s well known
watchmaker analogy is particularly useful here, in that it illustrates the problem of complexity of
design (i.e., of a watch) independent of a purposeful designer (i.e., a watchmaker). If a watch
represents a complexity in design that could not have possible arisen out of purposeless chance or
randomness alone, it must therefore have required a significant amount of ¡§design work¡¨ (i.e., work
done) (Dennett,

Jane Erye vs. Charlotte Bronte Essay
Charlotte Bronte, born in 1816 at Thornton, Yorkshire, England, is an English writer who is one of
three sisters, who are also famous for their writings. Bronte wrote Jane Eyre based on her own life
experiences, which is why the novel is subtitled An Autobiography . Much of the romantic appeal in
Jane Eyre comes from Bronte s own personal history. Many critics argue that the novel is simply a
reflection of Bronte s life. Furthermore, there are several ways in which, Bronte s life is similar to the
life of Jane and the events that take place in the novel.
Charlotte is described as simple, plain, and petite and the daughter of a clergyman just like Jane.
Whenever, Charlotte wanted to get away from her daily life, she would absorb herself ... Show more

Like Jane, Charlotte s first job was being a governess. She was a governess for the Sidgwick family,
until her shyness ruined up her attempts to earn a living this way.
Later in 1842 as Charlotte began to travel, she fell in love with M. Heger, who was married, just like
Rochester who is also married to Bertha. M. Heger was also the owner of the Pensionnat Heger, which
is the school that Charlotte attended and she later became a teacher there. In 1844, she tried to open
her own school, but failed, just as Jane failed when she tried to open her own school while staying
with the Rivers. Lastly, after all the suffering she caused Charlotte, Ms. Branwell died in 1848 and
Mrs. Reed also dies. Charlotte finally got married after being proposed to four times and had a child,
but she died in 1855 during her pregnancy. At the end of the novel, Jane also got married to Rochester,
after he had previously asked for her hand in marriage and John Rivers also asked for her hand and
she had a son, but does not die.
Conclusively, Jane Eyre can be said to be an autobiography written by Charlotte Bronte, because
many of the significant events that occurred in Charlotte s life were also happening to Jane in the
novel. Jane Eyre is a detailed reflection of Charlotte s life, from her childhood to adulthood.

Essay On Identity In Othello
A change in an individual s perspective and identity can enrich an individual s sense of belonging.
Conversely, an individual s sense of belonging may be destroyed when a change in their perspective
and identity occurs. An identifiable example is Othello, wherein it is perceivable that his notion of
identity and strong sense of self is shattered. His calm and collective persona has become one that is
unstable and insecure which, in turn, affects his sense of belonging, particularly with Desdemona, and
position as a Venetian general. A demonstration of this concept is seen in Act 4 Scene 1 (Line 61 62)
where Iago exclaims There s many a beat then in a populous city, And many a civil monster. Within
the quote, Iago identifies animalistic characteristics through the use of animal imagery to compare
with Othello s changed demeanour. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He attempts to convince Othello that animalistic behaviour is of the norm in Venice, using the
metaphorical aspect that relates to Othello s collected persona that has metamorphosed into a mad and
unstable man, depicting Othello s downfall and changed perspective of self. His sense of belonging
has spiralled as he no longer trusts the woman he loved the most. A quote that further supports this
idea is found in Act 4 Scene 1 (Line 60) in which Iago states: A hornèd man s a monster and a beast .
Iago challenges Othello s sense of belonging through the animalistic imagery and metaphor. Othello
believes that it is his own fault he is not able to satisfy his wife s sexual desires and is dejected,
referring to himself as being the cuckold of Venetian society. The word horned alludes to figurative
horns that a husband grew to showcase his wife s infidelity, which brought about much chagrin and
humiliation to

War in All Quiet on the Western Front World War one was a war of severe tribulation. resulting in over
50 million deaths, it was one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. Known as the Western Front ,
the border of Germany and France was the site to some of the bloodiest battles of the war. There are
very few novels that truly exemplify the events that took place along this front. Erich Maria Remarque
s novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, Displays important themes, imagery, and symbolism, that
help show how this great war affected the soldiers, the countries involved and the world. Some
examples of symbolism, such as Kemmerich s boots, The river, and the horse, give us an idea of
undertones and struggles in that occurred often in the war. The boots are a prime example of wartime
struggles, but also a symbol for strength. All soldiers are looking for a good pair of boots in order to
protect their feet, thus protecting themselves. A strong soldier always has a good pair of boots. Often
they have fair success, because they have very good boots and ours are bad (Remarque 90). Bäumer
believes that a soldier is only as good as his boots. Muller inherited them from kemmerich, but both
die shortly after. the boots are also symbols of the change the war caused. Both of them men die
because survival instincts take over. Juxtaposed with the comments and thoughts of Bäumer in the

The Theories Of The Scientific Management Theory
Management, as defined by Richard Wilson, is the body of thought that seeks to explain and improve
the administrative control of businesses and their employees (2016). In this paper we will discuss
some of the more popular management theories including the Scientific Management Theory by
Frederick W. Taylor, Administrative Management Theory by Henri Fayol, Bureaucratic Management
Theory by Max Weber, The Hawthorne Studies Human Relations Management Theory by Elton
Mayo, the Management Science Theory, and the Organization Environment Theory of Open Systems
developed by Daniel Katz, Robert Kahn, and James Thompson.
Scientific Management Theory
Considered the father of management thought, Frederick Taylor was one of the earliest theorists
credited with developing and defining the theory of scientific management in the late 1800 s. His
theories were designed to improve the efficiency of a factory system and worker manager relations
and to prevent soldiering, which was the tendency of workers to only complete enough work to avoid
being penalized or reprimanded (Biscontini, 2015). Taylor s theory stressed the importance of strict
time and motion studies of the industrial process. With the development of the assembly line, such
time and motion studies seemed appropriate for breaking large industrial processes down into their
smallest components and then training workers to perform only one small part of the manufacturing
process (Wilson, 2016).

Question#1:
The reason Netscape has been so successful to date could be attributed to many factors. First,
Netscape has the most successful product was the leading client software program that allowed
individual users to exchange information and conduct business over the internet, it has been the most
user friendly click and point browser among competitors. Second, the market environment was good
to those technology companies, there were 57 million internet users, at mid 1995, and it was growing
rapidly. Netscape also was the first mover in the industry, and their products captured 75% of the

As a new company, their strategy was giving away today and make money tomorrow it offered users

Panic buying is the act of buying unusually large amounts of product in anticipation. In anticipation of
a perceived or actual disaster, or anticipation of price increases, shortages, or because of anticipated
governmental action, action that may ban or increase governmental regulation of a particular product.
According to some statistics there are more guns in America than there are people. Obviously, not
everyone owns a firearm, so this means that a rather large number of people own more than one,
several in fact. There is certainly nothing wrong with this fact, but how do the manufactures sell more

We will not get into the debate about who should be able to own a firearm, and who should not. Too
much passion involved, and too many knee jerk reactions. People have strong opinions on the matter,
and for some, facts and logic cannot sway their thinking, and we certainly will not try.
The only thing we can say here is do not panic, do not take anything at face value. Dig down into the
small print and read carefully before deciding you need to run out and spend money you don t have for
another firearm, because you are convinced that tomorrow the option to buy one is gone.
Panic buying will continue, and it is because of a lack of preparedness. Generators, candles, batteries,
bread, milk, canned goods, and eggs fly off the shelves hours before the big storm. This is because
there are very few that are actually prepared for anything, many do not know how to prepare, do not
know what to do in an emergency and so people panic when they do not have the answers, and are not
ready.

Stand Your Ground Law
Stand your ground law is beneficial to the state of Florida. Stand Your Ground is a form of self
defense law that allows individuals to meet force with deadly force without an affirmative duty to
retreat (standyourground.org). The stand your ground law was adopted by Florida in 2005.
additionally, twenty two other states adopted this law, which is used in different situations in each
state, but are very similar. The law was adopted from a 17th century English common law called
Castle Doctrine. In the court case Lovett v. State, rather than creating a new defense law the stand
your ground law broadens the scope of self defense by establishing no duty to treat. Prior to the

This law has allowed drug dealer and gang members walk free from murder chargers. Furthermore,
the number of cases that claim the defense of stand your ground law are continuing to increase. Why,
because defense attorney s are using the law in a way to state legislators never imagined. This defense
has played a major role in a number of cases with minor or no injuries (Tampabay.com). For instance,
in the case of Jordan Davis, the stand your ground defense was abused by Dunn. Why, because he shot
in the car of a young teen because he thought he saw a gun, even though no harm caused. Dunn in this
case could have avoided the altercation by ignoring the young teen music in staying in his car. Since
Dunn knew the stand your ground law, he knew that he could get away with the crime. In nearly a
third of the cases the Times analyzed, defendants initiated the fight, shot an unarmed person or
pursued their victim and still went free (Tampabay.com). In fact, about two third of defendants that
used this claim used a shovel, gun, and other weapons like an ice pick, and a chair leg. Even though,
there are many factors that play a role when a decision is being made in a defense claim, like the
location of evidence, witnesses, and the size of the party and age involved in the case, facts do not
matter long as the person has a reasonable excuse. Reasonable excuses are causing people to abuse the

Cosmopolitanism Essay
The ideal society for many of us is a place in which mutual respect exists for all. A place where
despite our different perspective and beliefs we can come together and coexist in peace. This ideology
is called cosmopolitanism. The idea of a cosmopolitan society has been around for thousands of years,
it has created controversial arguments on whether its principles could benefit our community by
helping us achieve a deeper level of understanding towards one another. Throughout the world, there
are disputes because of our different perspectives and values. What if we could mitigate conflicts by
integrating cosmopolitanism into our daily lives? In Appiah s text, Making Conversation, he
contributes fundamental ideas that could help society achieve and understand the notion of
cosmopolitanism. Many cultures hold beliefs contrary to ours. In many cases, these practices can be
taboo to us but acceptable to others. Cosmopolitanism is the solution to our conflicts that stem from a
disparate set of views of how things should occur. Applying the notion of cosmopolitanism can aid us
in our quest to understand and respect others, take into account our differences, and remain open
minded to the diverse ways of living life.
In, Making Conversations, Appiah explains that in the past, our population was much smaller than
what it is today. The immense strain on methods of communication hindered our ability to further

After gathering the likes that had accumulated I was able to determine which inventory category was
strongest. My top inventory was conventional which states, I am one who likes to follow set rules and
procedures, and prefers detail and clear lines of authority (Self Assessment, n.d.). My second strongest
inventory category was Social, which states, I like work activities that promote learning and
development (Self Assessment, n.d.). Not only did I learn what my strongest inventory was I also had
the ability to learn which jobs fell under those categories. Out of each category within the level 5
education requirement, I had one job that stood out over the others; category one conventional had
Math Professor. This job is something that would be interesting, but I am not sure if I would want this
job as a career. The social category had one job that also caught my eye, health educator. After all the
research and looking at each one of the categories and the possible job opportunities I have come to
the realization that the test are estimates. I personally do not think I would want to

Absolutism And Conservatism
Conservatism is the political doctrine that justified the restoration of monarchies and the previous
ways of government and thinking before the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, and Napoleon
Bonaparte s rule (The Making of the West, 645). Traditions, institutions, and privileges are key in
conservatism. Conservatism appealed mostly to the aristocrats. Liberalism, socialism, and nationalism
do not work well with conservatism because they want change and reform, while conservatism does
not. On the contrary conservatism goes well with romanticism. Edmund Burke and Klemens Von
Metternich were important conservatism writers. Metternich wrote Political Confession of Faith
(Sourcebook, 336). In this document, he says the French Revolution was evil because it changed how

Liberalism is usually associated with liberty, laissez fair, reform, and progress. Liberalism was all
about change and making life better which is why it worked well with nationalism and why it did not
work well with conservatism, romanticism, and socialism. The bourgeoisie liked liberalism the most.
Adam Smith and John Stuart Mill wrote documents that pertain to liberalism. Adam Smith s The
Wealth of Nations, critiques mercantilism and discusses different economic policies. Adam Smith,
also known as the father of economics, believed that the government should not be involved with the
economic system. He believed prices would rise and fall with the natural order of life. (Sourcebook,

liberty and the government should not interfere unless they are causing harm to another human. Mill

Comparing Lanval And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Female Representation in Lanval and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
During a high point in medieval chivalric romance, both Marie de France s Lanval and the anonymous
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight tell fanciful tales of knighthood, chivalry, and spiritual and temporal
(courtly) love. Both Lanval and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight portray their female characters as
possessing considerable power and influence, within the events in the story and in the structure of the
plot. Indeed, the female characters in both works function as the catalysts of the events within the
stories, and also as instruments for each author s conveyed meaning. While Lanval presents its female
characters in an unorthodox reversal of gender roles, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight employs the
female characters as moral and spiritual trials for the hero, Sir Gawain. I will examine how the fairy
princess and Queen Gwenevere in Marie de France s Lanval present a reversal of gender roles as was
traditionally understood; she presents femininity as powerful, inspiring, and morally dynamic (for a
woman can be ideal, or she can be corrupt). I will compare this to the representation of Lady Bertilak
and Morgan le Fay in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, in which they are used to convey a Biblical
warning for an ecclesiastical audience; particularly that of moral failure and the temptation of the
flesh. To enrich our understanding of Lanval it is essential to keep in mind the work s authorship and

Compare Montesssori And Powell
In today s society, education is something that could definitely be improved for children. Teachers
could improve the kind of guidance and structure that they provide for their children. Maria
Montessori and Colin Powell have devoted their lives trying to help reform education to be more
beneficial for children. While Montessori and Powell both have an amazing passion for their purpose,
they both have differing opinions of how this should happen. To begin, It is clear to readers that both
Montessori and Powell have contradicting ideas about the role of the teacher in a child s development.
In Montessori s handbook, the role of the teacher is to be a guide. Montessori believes that we shall
notice that the child has a personality which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montessori shares her passion and desire for her hope of adult guidance in a child s life as she states
our Intervention in this marvelous process is indirect; we are here to offer to this life, which came into
the world by itself, the means necessary for its development . Montessori uses this to express her
passion and desire for children. She implies that teachers should be even more patient with a child as
his development evolves because teachers are indirect in this intervention. She also states that teachers
are there for children to offer to the life they already have because they came into this world by
themselves and this is the means for development. This implies that teachers have a special place in a
child s life to improve to the life that they already have. This shows that she wants what is best for
children. Furthermore, readers can comprehend that Montessori wants what s best for kids because she
elaborates that teachers should be always ready to share in both the joys and the difficulties which the
child experiences . Montessori explains that adults should be always ready to share in a child s
experiences. This implies that adults need to be patient with children but always be ready to help them
when needed and rejoice with them when they succeed. She also explains that teachers should always
be ready. This display s that a teacher should always be there to help each child and that a child should
be able to approach her with any need that he has without feeling a resistance to her. This shows that
Montessori wants what is best for kids, and she goes about this in a very passionate way. Similarly,
Powell also wants what is best for children. Lastly, Powell shows his passion for children as the states
that you d be amazed at what you can do with them once you put them in that structure. Powell uses

Comparing Hegel s And Kierkegaard
Hegel s and Kierkegaard s philosophies can be attributed to the Romantic influences of the late
eighteenth century. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were
criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed them
inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as the sum of
human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as the only important
thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism,
the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was thirty years old, so it could not be said the
two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated
on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics. Comparisons of such dialectically opposed philosophies are
difficult to explore, since one is so critical of the other. However, as mentioned above, both must be
credited to the influences of Romanticism. Hegel redefined their world spirit ... Show more content on

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the meaning of subjectivity of truth was another point of contention. Hegel
derived his opinion from history, noting that each successive generation changed where their
knowledge came from thus making it s origin fluid and unabsolute. Kierkegaard derived his opinion
from within, another point of existentialism, and thought that truth was something an individual must
discuss from within and be wholly passionate with the decision. Nevertheless, both resulted in the
conclusion that truth is not absolute, but Hegel regarded the Truths of humanity with prominence,
while Kierkegaard conversely regarded the truths of an individual as much more

American Exploration In The 1500 s
The early 1500 s was known in history as The Age of Exploration. At the time anyone who was
involved with exploration had their own motives such as wealth, trade, glory, and the spread of
Christianity. People became more involved with exploration because it created new trading routes,
applied new technologies, created economic goals, and rise of nations. Exploration in the 1500 s
relates back to US history because during the Age of Exploration America was founded.
Portugal took the lead in search of the first all water route to Asia. To control trades with Asia was
Portugal s number one priority. Portuguese sailors used a ship named caravel to sail the seas. It had a
triangular sail and three masts. The triangular sail let the cravel sail through wind. The caravel was the
fastest and lightest boat. It was also wide enough to carry water and food for voyages. (relate to us

Internal Conflict In Much Ado About Nothing
In the play Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, Shakespeare consistently shows that success in
the play comes from balancing external and internal conflict between two protagonists. Much Ado
About Nothing follows the story of the humorous war between Beatrice and Benedick and the love
story of Claudio and Hero. Both external and internal conflict are displayed in Beatrice and Benedick
when they come to the realization that they have unexpected love for each other. Internal and external
conflict makes the play successful because of its balance throughout. Internal and external conflict
throughout the play makes it successful because the audience can relate to the characters in that to find
love within someone else you must go through conflict to create the bond between two people to
create love.
In the first scene of Much Ado about nothing we first see external conflict between Beatrice and
Benedick in Leonato s estate where they continuously exchange witty insults. Benedick goes on to
talk about his way of sleeping around with as many women as he wants and constantly putting
beatrice down. What, my dear Lady Disdain! Are you yet living? This shows external conflict from
Benedick towards Beatrice by insulting her and putting her down. This shows the clear dislike for
Beatrice and that they have a poor relationship between each other and his negative outlook on love.
Lady Disdain is a metaphor that gives Beatrice a title that she is negative and a difficult person.
Beatrice then proceeds to comeback with more witty remarks towards Benedick as a way of showing
her hatred towards Benedick and. I would rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he
loves me . This also shows an external conflict in Beatrice because of her dislike for Benedick and
men in general and would rather stay an independent woman than deal with the dramas and conflict
that come with love. The technique Shakespeare uses in this quote is a contrast. This is done to
emphasis how meaningless love is to her and that she doesn t need love to be happy. External conflict
makes this scene successful because it gives the audience insight on what both the characters are like
and their views on love. It is clear that both Beatrice and

Working In Factories Dbq Essay
Industrialization is one of the many reasons as to why working in factories was not an ideal job to
have in any part of the world. Although the mill workers of Japan and England experienced different
types of work or events, their experiences were more similar than different because the amount of time
and payment that they were receiving, their working conditions were both terrible, and the way that
society viewed them were mostly the same.
The mill workers are more similar because the amount of time that they are spent working is around
the same and there payment method is formatted the same. In document E, it says that the mill
workers in England work fifteen hours, while the mill workers from Japan work for a total of fourteen
hours and twenty minutes. This shows that even though the are working in different parts of the world
the amount of time that is being taken out of their day to work at a machine is only a 40 minute
difference at most. In document G, it says that the England male mill workers earn 40 pence and the
females earn 26 pence, while document H says that in Japan, the male ... Show more content on

only time they stop working is at dinner and that the overseer of the room beats the little kids if the do

old was working in were harming their lives. In document P, a Japanese mill worker states that the
women at the factory would be sexually abused by their overseers or the owners of the factories. The
women of the Japan are being taken advantage of in their place of work, by people of a higher power.

City and Gentrification Introduction Essays
Gentrification
Introduction Beginning in the 1960s, middle and upper class populations began moving out of the
suburbs and back into urban areas. At first, this revitalization of urban areas was treated as a ‘back to
the city movement of suburbanites, but recent research has shown it to be a much more complicated
phenomenon (Schwirian 96). This phenomenon was coined gentrification by researcher Ruth Glass in
1964 to describe the residential movement of middle class people into low income areas of London
(Zukin 131). More specifically, gentrification is the renovation of previously poor urban dwellings,
typically into condominiums, aimed at upper and middle class professionals. Since the 1960s,
gentrification has appeared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the growing demand for housing, CDCs must compete with market rate developers when
acquiring properties (Alejandrino 28). Because of this competition, the cost of developing affordable
housing is driven up, and this makes it harder for the CDCs to complete their function as aids for
people in the community.
Another effect is that service providers clientele and staff leave the gentrified area in search of
affordable housing. For example, in San Francisco, many low income constituents have left the
gentrified area known as the Mission. In response to their migrating client base, service providers have
begun to establish offices elsewhere. In addition, non profit organizations often cannot pay employees
enough income to live in the gentrified area because of the price increase (Alejandrino 28). So as a
result, many long time employees are leaving non profits in the gentrified area, which is definitely
hurting these businesses.
Yet another effect of gentrification is its effect on senior citizens. Seniors often live in the same unit
for many years. As a result, rent control has kept their rents well below market rate, and landlords
stand to gain the most from evicting them. For example, in the Mission District of San Francisco,
many seniors live on a fixed income, and cannot afford market rate rents once they are evicted. They
lack mobility, and have difficulty

This essay is about the Duke Vincentio in Measure for...
The character of the Duke is portrayed by Shakespeare as a very complex, hypocritical and
contradictory character. To many critics, he is conveyed as a Machiavellian Prince, using others for his
own political ends, and to some critics, a God like figure, testing the pathology of power in Vienna.
Despite these two polar opposites the character is nethertheless a character of ambivalence.
Contradiction is one of the main themes of the play, as is appearance versus reality, law versus grace
and justice versus mercy. The Duke never lets go of the puppet strings, pulling events and
manipulating other characters in the play. Vincentio s motives for influencing the events are
controversial; it has been argued that the Duke enjoys watching others ... Show more content on

Angelo doesn t want to be married and neither does Lucio. Therefore the Duke uses marriage as a
punishment instead of death. He commands Angelo with the imperative look that you love your wife
and tells the provost to proclaim it? around the city that any woman disvalued by Lucio should come
forward.
In marrying both Lucio and Angelo, he is committing them to a life of misery, far worse than being
executed, and also humiliating and disgracing them. Neither of the marriages are likely to last long,
and justice is only done for Mariana in terms of law, not in terms of love. Mariana is given what she
wants, but the marriage will inevitably fail. Kate Keepdown is also done justice in terms of law, but
may not want to be married, as she will no longer be able to continue being a prostitute.
Also, this is not really fair for Lucio, no one else had been charged for fornication with a prostitute,
and the only reason Lucio is being judged so severely is because he slandered the Duke.
Lucio called the Duke a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow and also told the Friar that his
[the Duke] use was, to put a ducat in her clack dish... he would be drunk too . This creates dramatic
irony as the Duke is actually the Friar in disguise. A ducat in her clack dish is a euphemism for being
with prostitutes. The Duke s response to this is shown in his monologue in Act 3.2.

This perseverance could be related to Allende s perseverance in life such as becoming a journalist and
author. Throughout the three Fortunato generations, there was the desired result of a successful circus.
The first Fortunato persevered through times of catastrophe and turmoil (105) and for years Horacio s
grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His desire to save and maintain his
circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of the acts. However, he managed
somehow to survive bad times while many other circuses succumbed and were thus obliterated(106).
The first Fortunato s desire to keep his circus buoyant left him to persevere through all the hard time
and come out stronger. The first Fortunato s son, Fortunato II, was left a debt free enterprise. He too
persevered with an unshakable prudence and under his direction the circus grew in size and prestige
until it was the largest in the nation. (105) He made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted
aimlessly, as it had in his father s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able
to make the circus a greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so through his
perseverance and thus created a new, higher goal for his son to reach. Horacio, the third Fortunato,
intended to be rich from the time he was a young boy (108). His goal was predetermined and he
eventually lived a good life.

Why Communication Is Necessary For Successful Management...
In the field of educational research, the need for a clear communication between the project managers
and its team members is fueled by the need to accurately measure the project status and to be able to
effectively control the deviations. A well designed communication strategy in this complex research is
mandatory to develop an effective communication.
This paper focuses on the use of internal communication for the particular case of the StartSmart K 3
Plus educational research project. To have a better understanding of the benefits and limitations of
internal communications from a project perspective, I will provide a description of the
communications recommended to be used for this project and the development and application of the
strategy selection.
2. Literature review
The communication process is very important throughout the project because it keeps informed the
ones involve in it, but also keeps in touch with those across the organization. Ironically, it is also
regarded as one of the most neglected part of corporate operations (Toney Powers, 1997 P.33)
There are many reasons why communication is necessary for the successful management of changes
in a project. These include ensuring an increased understanding of the project to eliminate waste and
to motivate those involved in the processes affected.
According to Hameri (1997): the larger the project, the more important the role of communication. He
argued and I agreed, that communication is not only important

Explain how Oscar Romero s religious beliefs affected his work for social change
I will not tire of declaring that if we truly want an effective end to the violence, we must eliminate the
violence that lies at the root of all violence: structural violence, social injustice, the exclusion of
citizens from the management of the country, repression, Oscar Romero said in his sermon on the 23rd
September 1979. Six months later, Romero was shot and killed. During the 1970 s and 80 s the El
Salvadorian public experienced a brutal campaign of repression by the military government, which
claimed thousands of lives. The leader of the church, Oscar Romero began to speak out on behalf of

Romero s words to reach peasant farmers who did not believe they were welcome in church. In 1977
Romero became Archbishop of Santiago de Maria. Then, On 12 March 1977, Fr. Rutilio Grande and
two people Romero is travelling with are shot and killed. Asa result of this, Romero cancels all Masses
the next Sunday except for one, which was in front of the cathedral for 100,000 people. He then
refuses to attend any government event until the murder is solved. Later that same year Romero
became Archbishop of San Salvador, the capital city. Thousands of people were going missing. The
president of El Salvador failed to investigate these killings, even after Romero demanded that he
should.
In 1979 Romero presented the pope with seven reports of kidnapping, torture and murder. By this time
the amount of people being killed was more than 3000 per month and Romero could offer no more to
El Salvador than hope and faith.
On March 23, 1980, Romero began to speak out to the soldiers: I beg you, I implore you, I order you...
in the name of God, stop the repression! The evening after saying this, a paid assassin shot Romero
while giving Mass in the Divine Providence Hospital. Romero became a martyr and is now regarded

  • 2. Laws Of Abortion Research Paper Laws of abortion for minors in the United States Nearly 50% of teenage parents had never told their parents that they were sexually active until they were pregnant or had a significant other that became pregnant. (Planned Parenthood Federation of America) Many teens don t want to tell their parents or ask for help with sexual issues they re having an with education systems not properly educating students, many adults and teenagers are unaware of risks and issues that can come up later in life. With funding for planned parenthood going down it is becoming increasingly important to support and educate teenagers and minors in general about abortion and teenage pregnancy. Everyone is doing it Is a saying that is heard over and over, and if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of a few reasons that having a choice can cause issues is the age of consent, the age of consent varies from state to state, many schools and places of education don t offer education on sexual health and ages of consent, which leaves the decision up to the teenager. Leaving the decision up to the mother of the baby can cause problems if an individual has decided to be sexually active that should mean that they have come to terms with potential consequences such as potential pregnancy and std s, but since many teenagers are uneducated they don t know exactly what could happen, Say a teenage girl was not educated but still made the decision to be sexually active and is now paying the consequences, she s pregnant and has very little background education on what can happen if she keeps of if she aborts the baby. If she decides to keep the baby she may not have the ability support the baby financially. Planned parenthood centers offer help, but if abortions become obsolete then planned parenthood centers will become few and far between making it harder to get help many people need and increasing the frequency of unsafe abortions. Especially in the case of minors looking for abortions, in states that do not require parental consent or parental notification of the abortion the individual may not tell their guardian which may result in financial problems and unsafe ... Reactive Power Support And Control For Wind Farms Reactive Power Support and control for Wind Farms Ashish Mishra (R11324429) Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas Tech University Final term Paper for ECE 5343 Power Systems Engineering Abstract: This report contains details on the reactive power compensation techniques for fixed speed wind turbines as well as the inherent reactive power support provided by the variable speed wind turbines. This paper also reviews the latest grid codes and requirements for reactive power support by wind farms. In the end this paper provides quantitative calculations for determining the reactive power compensation needed for unity power factor operation by a fixed speed squirrel cage induction generator based wind turbines. Keywords: Reactive power support, fixed speed, variable speed, Wind Turbine, Grid code 1. Introduction Since the last decade, there has been an increased growth in the electricity production through wind power [8]. Such increasing penetration levels of wind power in to the total generation mix has raised several concerns to the transmission system operators. Some of the issues related to large scale grid integration of wind power causing concern to the transmission system operators are low voltage fault through capability, voltage support during large disturbances and unity power factor operation [7]. This has made the regulators and transmission system operators to introduce new grid standards and requirements for wind farms to make sure the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Educating Rita and the Devil Wears Prada Speech Into the... The society we live in distorts our own unique desires and goals. When in a workplace or community it puts more pressure and expectation on individuals goals, warping them until a point where one identifies what they truly want and breaks the mould and expectations of society to do this. Examining texts such as Educating Rita and The Devil Wears Prada in addition to my own personal experience will bring forth an understanding of how society affects growing up and transition into new phases of life into a larger world. The text Educating Rita is set Britain in the 1970 s, where a woman s role was to have a family and look after it by staying at home and in the kitchen. The feminist movement started to occur along with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word bursts here has connotations of confidence and her eagerness to learn. She is breaking her social context whereas in scene one she was questioning herself. Rita always purchases new dresses to cheer her up, but now realises she is not content with it. She stresses to Frank that It s like me isn t it? Buying new dresses all the time, isn t it? The rhetorical questions and repetition enhance reflection on her learning and aim to move out of the stereotype. In new second hand clothes this is symbolic of the ease she has in the middle class and shows juxtaposition of new second hand clothes. This has highlighted how she has changed and matured into the middle class and doesn t require materialistic needs like a dress to satisfy her depression. Rita in Educating Rita mirrors the same growth and change as Andrea in The Devil Wears Prada . It is a 2006 film in times where individuals are controlled by the capitalist world and times where pleasing your boss was the only ambition. Andrea is easily manipulated to suit her social context and expectations of her boss. This is shown through the change in her values overtime highlighting her new appreciation for fashion which is negatively affecting her relationships with her friends. Andrea then grows enough to come to realisation that she is controlled by the materialistic needs of fashion influences by the industry. This is shown thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Theme Of Nature In Victor Frankenstein Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven, (mathew 19:14). This sentiment can be applied to many aspects in Mary Shelley s gothic novel Frankenstein; From Victor frankenstein s idolatry by his parents to Victor s own dereliction of his creation even stretching to victor s foil Robert Walton whose feeling of isolation has familial ties attached to it. Shelley explores the multiple thematic subjects of nurture V.S. nature, responsibility, and negligence thus perpetuating the thought that man is a direct product if his environment. The way Robert Walton was raised contributes to his longing for fulfillment and his want to be more than he is. Robert longs to be accepted and he fills this voyage will do just that. I shall satiate my ardent curiosity...and may tread a land never before imprinted by the foot of man, (Shelley 2).Robert feels this voyage will validate him. Shelley herself subtly indicts Victor s parents in exactly this way; and [shelley] suggests an even subtler subtext of family conflict in the letters Walton writes to Margaret, (Claridge). Robert wants this voyage to give him the recognition he lacks. It can be argued this is due to a lack of acceptance by his Father. these volumes were my study day and night...my father s dying injunction had forbidden my uncle to allow me to embark in a seafaring life, (Shelley 2). • 8. The Recipe for Nature The Recipe for Nature Missing Works Cited Nature is a fluid coalescence of complex magnificence resulting from an algorithmic mastery of simplicity. It is no doubt an awe inspiring entity that invokes both great curiosity and bafflement in those who attempt to account for its existence and splendor. It is often seen as overly reductionistic, if not ¡§dangerous¡¨, to try to condense the (mindless?) brilliance of nature through any sort of mechanistic or logical means. And here we are faced with what Daniel Dennett calls Darwin¡¦s dangerous idea: ¡§that all the fruits of evolution can be explained as the products of an algorithmic process¡¨ (Dennett, 1995 p.60). It is no surprise that this idea might present a problem for the Homo sapien ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, chance and randomness might disallow for the concept of ¡§survival of the fittest¡¨ and instead allow for otherwise less adept members of the species to have increased reproducibility and thus an increased genetic impact on subsequent generations. The fact that events can alter or in part determine which members of a species are more likely to survive and reproduce, leads to the fact that the specific outcome (e.g., which particular genes will be passed onto the next generation) of an algorithmic process is not fixed, just that the inherent nature of the causal procedure is. For instance, the algorithmic process of natural selection does not provide a certain mold by which to predict the most viable members of a species, only that it is guaranteed that the most well adapted members of a species will necessarily correspond to the most viable. We now return to the question of how the complexity and intricacy of nature can be accounted for by an algorithmic process constituted by an inundation of simple steps. William Paley¡¦s well known watchmaker analogy is particularly useful here, in that it illustrates the problem of complexity of design (i.e., of a watch) independent of a purposeful designer (i.e., a watchmaker). If a watch represents a complexity in design that could not have possible arisen out of purposeless chance or randomness alone, it must therefore have required a significant amount of ¡§design work¡¨ (i.e., work done) (Dennett, ... • 10. Jane Erye vs. Charlotte Bronte Essay Charlotte Bronte, born in 1816 at Thornton, Yorkshire, England, is an English writer who is one of three sisters, who are also famous for their writings. Bronte wrote Jane Eyre based on her own life experiences, which is why the novel is subtitled An Autobiography . Much of the romantic appeal in Jane Eyre comes from Bronte s own personal history. Many critics argue that the novel is simply a reflection of Bronte s life. Furthermore, there are several ways in which, Bronte s life is similar to the life of Jane and the events that take place in the novel. Charlotte is described as simple, plain, and petite and the daughter of a clergyman just like Jane. Whenever, Charlotte wanted to get away from her daily life, she would absorb herself ... She was a governess for the Sidgwick family, until her shyness ruined up her attempts to earn a living this way. Later in 1842 as Charlotte began to travel, she fell in love with M. Heger, who was married, just like Rochester who is also married to Bertha. M. Heger was also the owner of the Pensionnat Heger, which is the school that Charlotte attended and she later became a teacher there. In 1844, she tried to open her own school, but failed, just as Jane failed when she tried to open her own school while staying with the Rivers. Lastly, after all the suffering she caused Charlotte, Ms. Branwell died in 1848 and Mrs. Reed also dies. Charlotte finally got married after being proposed to four times and had a child, but she died in 1855 during her pregnancy. At the end of the novel, Jane also got married to Rochester, after he had previously asked for her hand in marriage and John Rivers also asked for her hand and she had a son, but does not die. Conclusively, Jane Eyre can be said to be an autobiography written by Charlotte Bronte, because many of the significant events that occurred in Charlotte s life were also happening to Jane in the novel. • 11. Essay On Identity In Othello A change in an individual s perspective and identity can enrich an individual s sense of belonging. Conversely, an individual s sense of belonging may be destroyed when a change in their perspective and identity occurs. An identifiable example is Othello, wherein it is perceivable that his notion of identity and strong sense of self is shattered. His calm and collective persona has become one that is unstable and insecure which, in turn, affects his sense of belonging, particularly with Desdemona, and position as a Venetian general. A demonstration of this concept is seen in Act 4 Scene 1 (Line 61 62) where Iago exclaims There s many a beat then in a populous city, And many a civil monster. Within the quote, Iago identifies animalistic characteristics through the use of animal imagery to compare with Othello s changed demeanour. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He attempts to convince Othello that animalistic behaviour is of the norm in Venice, using the metaphorical aspect that relates to Othello s collected persona that has metamorphosed into a mad and unstable man, depicting Othello s downfall and changed perspective of self. A quote that further supports this idea is found in Act 4 Scene 1 (Line 60) in which Iago states: A hornèd man s a monster and a beast . Iago challenges Othello s sense of belonging through the animalistic imagery and metaphor. Othello believes that it is his own fault he is not able to satisfy his wife s sexual desires and is dejected, referring to himself as being the cuckold of Venetian society. The word horned alludes to figurative horns that a husband grew to showcase his wife s infidelity, which brought about much chagrin and humiliation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scientific Management Theory Considered the father of management thought, Frederick Taylor was one of the earliest theorists credited with developing and defining the theory of scientific management in the late 1800 s. His theories were designed to improve the efficiency of a factory system and worker manager relations and to prevent soldiering, which was the tendency of workers to only complete enough work to avoid being penalized or reprimanded (Biscontini, 2015). Taylor s theory stressed the importance of strict time and motion studies of the industrial process. Comparing Lanval And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Female Representation in Lanval and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight During a high point in medieval chivalric romance, both Marie de France s Lanval and the anonymous Sir Gawain and the Green Knight tell fanciful tales of knighthood, chivalry, and spiritual and temporal (courtly) love. Both Lanval and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight portray their female characters as possessing considerable power and influence, within the events in the story and in the structure of the plot. Indeed, the female characters in both works function as the catalysts of the events within the stories, and also as instruments for each author s conveyed meaning. While Lanval presents its female characters in an unorthodox reversal of gender roles, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight employs the female characters as moral and spiritual trials for the hero, Sir Gawain. I will examine how the fairy princess and Queen Gwenevere in Marie de France s Lanval present a reversal of gender roles as was traditionally understood; she presents femininity as powerful, inspiring, and morally dynamic (for a woman can be ideal, or she can be corrupt). I will compare this to the representation of Lady Bertilak and Morgan le Fay in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, in which they are used to convey a Biblical warning for an ecclesiastical audience; particularly that of moral failure and the temptation of the flesh. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed them inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as the sum of human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as the only important thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism, the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was thirty years old, so it could not be said the two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics. • 28. Internal Conflict In Much Ado About Nothing In the play Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, Shakespeare consistently shows that success in the play comes from balancing external and internal conflict between two protagonists. Much Ado About Nothing follows the story of the humorous war between Beatrice and Benedick and the love story of Claudio and Hero. Both external and internal conflict are displayed in Beatrice and Benedick when they come to the realization that they have unexpected love for each other. Internal and external conflict makes the play successful because of its balance throughout. Internal and external conflict throughout the play makes it successful because the audience can relate to the characters in that to find love within someone else you must go through conflict to create the bond between two people to create love. In the first scene of Much Ado about nothing we first see external conflict between Beatrice and Benedick in Leonato s estate where they continuously exchange witty insults. Benedick goes on to talk about his way of sleeping around with as many women as he wants and constantly putting beatrice down. What, my dear Lady Disdain! Are you yet living? This shows external conflict from Benedick towards Beatrice by insulting her and putting her down. This shows the clear dislike for Beatrice and that they have a poor relationship between each other and his negative outlook on love. Lady Disdain is a metaphor that gives Beatrice a title that she is negative and a difficult person. Beatrice then proceeds to comeback with more witty remarks towards Benedick as a way of showing her hatred towards Benedick and. I would rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me . This also shows an external conflict in Beatrice because of her dislike for Benedick and men in general and would rather stay an independent woman than deal with the dramas and conflict that come with love. The technique Shakespeare uses in this quote is a contrast. This is done to emphasis how meaningless love is to her and that she doesn t need love to be happy. External conflict makes this scene successful because it gives the audience insight on what both the characters are like and their views on love. It is clear that both Beatrice and ... • 29. Working In Factories Dbq Essay Industrialization is one of the many reasons as to why working in factories was not an ideal job to have in any part of the world. Although the mill workers of Japan and England experienced different types of work or events, their experiences were more similar than different because the amount of time and payment that they were receiving, their working conditions were both terrible, and the way that society viewed them were mostly the same. The mill workers are more similar because the amount of time that they are spent working is around the same and there payment method is formatted the same. In document E, it says that the mill workers in England work fifteen hours, while the mill workers from Japan work for a total of fourteen hours and twenty minutes. This shows that even though the are working in different parts of the world the amount of time that is being taken out of their day to work at a machine is only a 40 minute difference at most. In document G, it says that the England male mill workers earn 40 pence and the females earn 26 pence, while document H says that in Japan, the male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In document J, a sixteen year old female mill worker from England gave a testimony and said that the only time they stop working is at dinner and that the overseer of the room beats the little kids if the do not complete their work right. Due to this evidence it is clear that the conditions that this sixteen year old was working in were harming their lives. In document P, a Japanese mill worker states that the women at the factory would be sexually abused by their overseers or the owners of the factories. The women of the Japan are being taken advantage of in their place of work, by people of a higher power. • 30. City and Gentrification Introduction Essays Gentrification Introduction Beginning in the 1960s, middle and upper class populations began moving out of the suburbs and back into urban areas. At first, this revitalization of urban areas was treated as a ‘back to the city movement of suburbanites, but recent research has shown it to be a much more complicated phenomenon (Schwirian 96). This phenomenon was coined gentrification by researcher Ruth Glass in 1964 to describe the residential movement of middle class people into low income areas of London (Zukin 131). More specifically, gentrification is the renovation of previously poor urban dwellings, typically into condominiums, aimed at upper and middle class professionals. Since the 1960s, gentrification has appeared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the growing demand for housing, CDCs must compete with market rate developers when acquiring properties (Alejandrino 28). Because of this competition, the cost of developing affordable housing is driven up, and this makes it harder for the CDCs to complete their function as aids for people in the community. Another effect is that service providers clientele and staff leave the gentrified area in search of affordable housing. For example, in San Francisco, many low income constituents have left the gentrified area known as the Mission. In response to their migrating client base, service providers have begun to establish offices elsewhere. In addition, non profit organizations often cannot pay employees enough income to live in the gentrified area because of the price increase (Alejandrino 28). So as a result, many long time employees are leaving non profits in the gentrified area, which is definitely hurting these businesses. Yet another effect of gentrification is its effect on senior citizens. Seniors often live in the same unit for many years. As a result, rent control has kept their rents well below market rate, and landlords stand to gain the most from evicting them. For example, in the Mission District of San Francisco, many seniors live on a fixed income, and cannot afford market rate rents once they are evicted. They lack mobility, and have difficulty ... • 31. This essay is about the Duke Vincentio in Measure for... The character of the Duke is portrayed by Shakespeare as a very complex, hypocritical and contradictory character. To many critics, he is conveyed as a Machiavellian Prince, using others for his own political ends, and to some critics, a God like figure, testing the pathology of power in Vienna. Despite these two polar opposites the character is nethertheless a character of ambivalence. Contradiction is one of the main themes of the play, as is appearance versus reality, law versus grace and justice versus mercy. The Duke never lets go of the puppet strings, pulling events and manipulating other characters in the play. Vincentio s motives for influencing the events are controversial; it has been argued that the Duke enjoys watching others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Angelo doesn t want to be married and neither does Lucio. Therefore the Duke uses marriage as a punishment instead of death. He commands Angelo with the imperative look that you love your wife and tells the provost to proclaim it? around the city that any woman disvalued by Lucio should come forward. In marrying both Lucio and Angelo, he is committing them to a life of misery, far worse than being executed, and also humiliating and disgracing them. Neither of the marriages are likely to last long, and justice is only done for Mariana in terms of law, not in terms of love. Mariana is given what she wants, but the marriage will inevitably fail. Kate Keepdown is also done justice in terms of law, but may not want to be married, as she will no longer be able to continue being a prostitute. Also, this is not really fair for Lucio, no one else had been charged for fornication with a prostitute, and the only reason Lucio is being judged so severely is because he slandered the Duke. Lucio called the Duke a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow and also told the Friar that his [the Duke] use was, to put a ducat in her clack dish... he would be drunk too . This creates dramatic irony as the Duke is actually the Friar in disguise. A ducat in her clack dish is a euphemism for being with prostitutes. The Duke s response to this is shown in his monologue in Act 3.2. No might nor greatness in mortality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This perseverance could be related to Allende s perseverance in life such as becoming a journalist and author. Throughout the three Fortunato generations, there was the desired result of a successful circus. The first Fortunato persevered through times of catastrophe and turmoil (105) and for years Horacio s grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His desire to save and maintain his circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of the acts. However, he managed somehow to survive bad times while many other circuses succumbed and were thus obliterated(106). The first Fortunato s desire to keep his circus buoyant left him to persevere through all the hard time and come out stronger. The first Fortunato s son, Fortunato II, was left a debt free enterprise. He too persevered with an unshakable prudence and under his direction the circus grew in size and prestige until it was the largest in the nation. (105) He made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted aimlessly, as it had in his father s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able to make the circus a greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so through his perseverance and thus created a new, higher goal for his son to reach. Horacio, the third Fortunato, intended to be rich from the time he was a young boy (108). His goal was predetermined and he eventually lived a good life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Why Communication Is Necessary For Successful Management... In the field of educational research, the need for a clear communication between the project managers and its team members is fueled by the need to accurately measure the project status and to be able to effectively control the deviations. A well designed communication strategy in this complex research is mandatory to develop an effective communication. This paper focuses on the use of internal communication for the particular case of the StartSmart K 3 Plus educational research project. To have a better understanding of the benefits and limitations of internal communications from a project perspective, I will provide a description of the communications recommended to be used for this project and the development and application of the strategy selection. 2. Literature review The communication process is very important throughout the project because it keeps informed the ones involve in it, but also keeps in touch with those across the organization. Ironically, it is also regarded as one of the most neglected part of corporate operations (Toney Powers, 1997 P.33) There are many reasons why communication is necessary for the successful management of changes in a project. These include ensuring an increased understanding of the project to eliminate waste and to motivate those involved in the processes affected. According to Hameri (1997): the larger the project, the more important the role of communication. He argued and I agreed, that communication is not only important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Oscar Romero s Religious Beliefs Affected His Work For... Explain how Oscar Romero s religious beliefs affected his work for social change I will not tire of declaring that if we truly want an effective end to the violence, we must eliminate the violence that lies at the root of all violence: structural violence, social injustice, the exclusion of citizens from the management of the country, repression, Oscar Romero said in his sermon on the 23rd September 1979. Six months later, Romero was shot and killed. During the 1970 s and 80 s the El Salvadorian public experienced a brutal campaign of repression by the military government, which claimed thousands of lives. The leader of the church, Oscar Romero began to speak out on behalf of the victims and on the 23rd of March 1980, he made a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was admitted into a seminary at 14 and then was eventually, in 1942 at the age of 25, ordained a priest. Romero then managed to convince 5 radio stations to broadcast his Sunday sermon allowing Romero s words to reach peasant farmers who did not believe they were welcome in church. In 1977 Romero became Archbishop of Santiago de Maria. Then, On 12 March 1977, Fr. Rutilio Grande and two people Romero is travelling with are shot and killed. Asa result of this, Romero cancels all Masses the next Sunday except for one, which was in front of the cathedral for 100,000 people. He then refuses to attend any government event until the murder is solved. Later that same year Romero became Archbishop of San Salvador, the capital city. Thousands of people were going missing. The president of El Salvador failed to investigate these killings, even after Romero demanded that he should. In 1979 Romero presented the pope with seven reports of kidnapping, torture and murder. By this time the amount of people being killed was more than 3000 per month and Romero could offer no more to El Salvador than hope and faith. On March 23, 1980, Romero began to speak out to the soldiers: I beg you, I implore you, I order you... in the name of God, stop the repression! The evening after saying this, a paid assassin shot Romero while giving Mass in the Divine Providence Hospital. Romero became a martyr and is now regarded as saint in El Salvador.
