Maasai And The Kiasau Tribe

Cultural Differences
There are millions of different tribes in the world, each one have their own unique culture.
Many tribes share different aspects of culture, while others don t. But why doesn t everyone
share the same aspects of life? In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the cultural
aspects of the Maasai and the Kikuyu tribe, and explaining the reasons for their differences. The
Maasai tribe live in East Africa, specifically in Kenya and Tanzania. Their population is very
large; it is made up of half a million people. They are a nomadic tribe, meaning that they move
around from place to place. The Kikuyu, is another traditional tribe who live in Kenya, specifically

Traditionally, the Maasai eat cow s milk, blood, and meat. From this they can especially get the
protein they need. The Kikuyu s diet is made up of vegetables, bananas, sugarcane, beans, maize,
and more. As the Kikuyu don t own that much cattle, they eat what they grow and what they
gather. The Maasai and the Kikuyu have a large difference in their diets. The reasoning for this
cultural difference is, in my opinion, because of some of their values and their environment. The
Maasai value cattle and they own a huge variety of it. They don t grow crops as much because they
are nomadic people. While the Kikuyu don t own that much cattle. They are hunter gatherers so
they grow their own crops and they find their own

Essay about The Well Paid Receptionist
Analysis of The Well Paid Receptionist
Harvey Finley is in quite the predicament. He his company s net profit should be approximately
$107, 614.21 greater than he expected for this year. The problem is that his secretary/receptionist
is making six to seven times the amount of an average good secretary/receptionist in the local
market and has been for a few years.
There s a few ways this issue can be addressed. One way would be to talk to Ms. Brannen and
advice her that there has been an oversight in her salary over the past few years and for the
upcoming year the oversight will be corrected and her salary will be adjusted to $25,000 per year
with no percent of sales bonus. Another way to address the issue is to fire the ... Show more content

He would have also had time to make some sales and see how the potential sales market is doing
and instead of offering her 2% in sales which obviously we now know was a bad strategy, can
offer her more upfront in salary. A person that likes the job they are doing will not leave for one
or two thousand dollars more. So Finley can be true to her and make a counter offer in hopes that
she would accept and stay. As for the other negative aspect of her getting back together with her
husband in Houston and move back there, Finley would either have to offer her a significant more
salary or find her husband a position at Troupville Business Systems.
The other important value driver to consider in establishing the Value Over Time maximization
is owner values . As the owner Finley s main concern is to keep his business running. Another
concern is to make more and more profit each year. Owners need to worry about reputation risk
as well and the well being of each of their employees. Some problems Finley is facing with his
company, Troupville Business Systems, is that he is paying his secretary more than double what his
highest paid manager is making. The problem Finley is facing is not knowing what should be done
about this or how to approach the issue. The potential problems that may arise if the current situation

The Energy Industry Is Controlled And Dominated By The...
Currently, the energy industry is controlled and dominated by the consumption of fossil fuels. As
energy companies are constantly burning these fossil fuels, this leaves the public questioning how
much supply we have left after this period of usage. Despite this, the search for alternative energy
sources to lower the cost of living for families around Australia has been going for years, where
some have found what works for them and their price range while others have not.
Australia is ranked 16th in the world for most energy consumed per capita totalling over 5590
kgoe/a (Kilograms of Oil Equivalent per annum) of crude oil. Over 73% of Australian families

Yes, a community is able to live on renewable energysources such as wind power and solar power.
A majority of local systems should install power grids purely based upon renewable energy,
depending on the source will depend on the area and the source that can generate the most on
demand. For example, small communities further in land will be able to depend on the use of
geothermal energy due to being in an isolated area where the mine can be installed and maintained
without disturbing day to day activities whereas in a city this would be impossible. The primary
question regarding the use of renewable/alternative energy sources is if they re able to generate
enough energy to cover the entire country? While the answer is currently unknown, we know
variables which in the end can bring us as a country to the conclusion. In a 2009 report by the
Australian Academy of Science, they state that Today s scientific and political consensus is that the
level of global emissions of greenhouse gases needs [to stabilise at] atmospheric concentrations
somewhere between 450 to 500 parts per million to avoid serious, if not catastrophic, effects on life
and property. Achieving this goal poses some formidable challenges . On top of this statement, there
are multiple uncertainties such as climate change, cost, and limitations. Currently, Australians alone

Summary Of In The Road To Evergreen By Rachael Stryker
In The Road to Evergreen by Rachael Stryker is an interesting eye catching ethnography that
emphasizes on the psychiatric disorder on adopted children called RAD, also known as reactive
attachment disorder. Reactive attachment disorder Describes children who are considered to be
unable or unwilling to bond with parental (most often mother) figures (Stryker 3). The reason why
these particular children are unable to form a bond with their primary familyis because in their past
relationships formed with their birth parents, if any, have been either neglected or abused in both
a physical and or mental way. So, in the end, the child is left with RAD and their new adopted
families are the ones who have to get help for them in hope for a noticeable... Show more content on

Kinship is the study of relationships or kin, therefore is an important role on how a person
behaves as well as form attachments with other groups i.e. new family members. A great
example of this is the movie we watched in class called The Dark Matter Of Love. Masha had a
very difficult time adjusting with her new family because she couldn t understand them and the
family felt overwhelmed with 3 adopted children from Russia and you could tell by the way the
parents acted. But, overtime she and the other two adoptees learned to love, care ad be happy
with their family. Which goes to show that once you adjust and take things at a slow and steady
pace that everything turns out for the best. I also believe this goes in hand with Stryker s central
argument that if new parents had the same way of thinking like the Diaz s, that maybe they
wouldn t reach the point of distress and turn to the evergreen model. Stryker s main point is that
there are different ways to get help for your child, and that you don t need to basically torture them
for them to love

New Mission Statement And Vision Statement
New mission statement and vision statement analysis As a result of recent security breach of the
Baltimore City Government, Cyber Software Inc. feels required to introduce a new mission and
vision statement that stimulate confidence on the company s ability to combat cyberattacks on our
customers networks. Cyber Software s new vision statement and mission statement demonstrates
the company s commitment to deliver a highly efficient cybersecurity software. The new mission
statement also highlights the approach that the company will take in order to achieve this new level
of proficiency. Due to increasing internal conflicts among programmers, the new mission statement
also accentuates the organization s concern toward its employees. Cyber Software s intend to
restructure its organization will be facilitated only if its current mission and vision statement are
change. The organization will go through a transformation that unless the company presents a well
defined mission and vision statement, some employees might even resist changes which will
translate into wasted time and resources. Cyber Software, Inc. Panning phase In an era where crime

Analysis Of Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company. It is the largest theatrical producer in the
world. For the APS 325 field trip, we attended Cirque du Soleil s latest production Volta. Volta
has the theme of freedom as a movement and self acceptance. It is inspired in part by the
adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of action sports. The story revolves around the central
character called Waz who is a popular game show host and has lost touch with his inner self in
pursuit of fame. But over time, he is filled with doubt and is reminded of his childhood
memories of encounters with a group of people called the free spirits who help him connect with
his inner self. From the show, I noticed that there are three primary groups of people who are
defined by their key characteristics as well as clothing. The first group of people are the Free
Spirits who are driven by impulses and dreams. These group of individuals are life and self
loving humans who are always seeking to fulfil their potential and that of others too. They are
always on the run, breaking through and fighting for freedom, and inspire Waz to embrace his
true self. To show this characteristic, all the performers from this group are dressed in extremely
bright and colourful clothes as seen in Figure 1. The second set of characters are called the Greys
who are city dwellers that have accumulated the dust of inertia over time. The Greys are aloof
from one another and go about their life as a daily robot like

The Glue That Makes All The Good Grades
Think Back to high school, when you were in class with 30 other students. You do all the work,
make all the good grades and someone else gets all the credit. In my high school days, we called
these people teachers pets . These people made it seem like everything was about them. They
wanted to control everything and most of the students wanted to tellthis student off but couldn t
because the teacher would always take their side. Now, in this play we have a mother named
Amanda and like the teacher s pet, Amanda wants to control every aspect of her children s life.
May I add, that the children that she tried to control are well above the legal adult age. The
children, like the other students in the classroom, wanted to tell her off but it wouldn t be of any
value because they had no backing. Amanda is truly the glue that makes this play what it is today.
Amanda is the most important character in this play because she wants to live her life through her
kids, everything that went wrong was because of her, and because of her nagging ways.
Amanda truly wants to live her life though her children life at any cost. Just like any parent
Amanda wants to have her children succeed in life. She truly wants her children to go on and
enjoy their life and I believe that she feels disappointed because she can t give them what they need
to survive the rest of their life s because she isn t financially stable enough for this. Since she can t
give them what they need, she pushes them to

Mia Ham In Soccer
There have been many influential women in the history of soccer. For example, Abby Wambach,
Mia Hamm, and Alex Morgan are just some of the many influential female soccer players.
Through all of them, Mia Hamm stands out the most. Mia Hamm is influential because she was
the founder of a bone marrow research foundation, she wrote a kids book to encourage them not
to quit even if they don t win, and she is an inspiration to girls who want to play soccer or any
other sports. First, she was the founder the Mia Hamm Foundation (a bone marrow research

Winners Never Quit! / Mia Hamm (Book) says The world s top goal scorer and three time
Olympian offers a soccer tale, putatively autobiographical, about a little girl whose tendency to
stomp off the field when frustrated prompts her teammates to teach her a lesson. The text
perfectly reflects a competitive child s rage when things don t go as desired. The book could be
an influence to kids to show them the importance of having good sportsmanship and not being
too hard on yourself when you don t win. Next, it says Mia learns quickly that there will be
times when she will score a goal and those when she will not, but playing the game is the most
fun of all. This quote supports that her book is one of the reasons she is influential because it
comes from her point of view so it s easy for kids who have had the same attitude when they don
t win to relate to. Last, Winners Never Quit! says, Mia Hamm, American soccer champion and
best selling author of Go for the Goal, tells a true life inspired story of learning that winning and
losing aren t as important as being part of a team. When kids (or really anyone) reads this, they
could learn the lesson that Mia learns, winning is not as important as being part of a team. Mia
Hamm s book is important to many children because of the influences in

The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum Of Art, Cleveland
Formal Analysis of The Annuciation
The painting The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland) was made in Netherlands,
or possibly France, in the 1380s, using tempera and oil with gold on wood panel. A vertical
composition of about 31.43 Г— 40.32 cm, the sacred iconography depicts the biblical scene of the
Archangel Gabriel, sent by God, announcing to the Virgin that she would soon give birth to Christ.
The artist, who was commissioned to draw this piece, is unknown. The patron probably
commissioned the artwork for devotional use. It might be part of a narrative polyptych, conveying
the biblical story of Christ, expressing the divinity of God and Christianity.
In the foreground, the two main figures of the scene, the Virgin and the Archangel, are markedly
painted larger than the figures in the background, and thus, they become the attractive focus of the
whole painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The excellent employment of chiaroscuro vividly shows the texture of the front of the drapery,
depicting it realistically and three dimensionally. She has a golden halo with God s messages on
it behind her head, showing her divinity. She sits on an elevated throne with a calm look on her
face. However, she holds her hands in front of her breast, eyes gazing at God s message brought
by the Archangel, palms facing each other, indicating surprise and excitement due to the message.
The Virgin s serene facial expression contradicts her behavior, perhaps because the message not
only tells her the incarnation of Christ but also foreshadows his doomed death. Therefore, the
whole painting can be a polyptych. This piece is the beginning of the story, and other pieces, such

Specific Goal:
I would like to improve my performance in the pilates exercise of roll ups. The pilates roll ups
targets and strengthens the abdominal muscles and spine. It also tones the buttocks, lower back
and hips. I am choosing an exercise that targets core strength because I have Crohn s Disease and
this affects my core. I want to build core muscle and this will help my digestive system. My fitness
test in one of my first pilates classes showed I have a weak core because I had a difficult time doing
the Hundreds exercise and roll ups. If possible, I would like to double my performance in the roll
ups exercise over the course of two weeks.

The first point, holding a plank is an activity I may do every morning before going to school.
Before eating breakfast or getting ready, I can awaken myself up and challenge myself by doing
a plank on a pilates mat beside my bed. Second, the roll ups exercise may be done very easily in
my bedroom on my mat before going to bed. Whereas, performing crunches every second day
gives me time to recover from my previous workout and still progress with myself to attain my
goal. I either have time in the morning or at night and my action plan incorporates both times. The
only resource this action plan requires is a pilates mat and I will use my mother s mat at home and
I already have a treadmill in my basement.
Timely Goal:
Today, it is Friday October 23, 2015 that I am creating my goal for an exercise in pilates. I will have
class on Monday October 26, 2015 in which I will be able to work on my roll ups. Considering the
two hour pilates class I have every Monday and the measures I am aiming to take outside of class, I
am hoping to achieve my target in two weeks from now. Therefore, in my pilates class on Monday

The Right Track Every affluent nation throughout the world has invested in a high speed rail

7.58% of the annual federal funds seems a lot to be allocated just for establishing a high speed
railway system; however, constructing a high speed railway system throughout the United States
would take a couple of decades to accomplish. This means that the cost of constructing a high
speed railway system would be divided annually for about 20 years, only taking approximately
about 0.38% of the annual federal funds collected from taxpayers a minute percentage invested that
would massively benefit the citizens of the United States in the future. Another argument of the
disputants is that the construction of a high speed railways system would only benefit a small
portion of the United States population. Their argument could possibly be true when the high
speed railway system is just newly constructed; however, it is very unlikely to occur. As

Reflection Of A Play Amadeus
On November 30, 2017, I viewed a play called Amadeus, from the comfort of my home. Didn t
think I would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was
thinking to myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being
bored.
Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play
really drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of
Antonio Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it
from. Those two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri
to have you on your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison
Mozart and if so why to tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes.
There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple
draw the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when
Salieri first came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed
very bitter and insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. He never
lost my attention and seemed very live throughout the entire scene. All the characters did an
amazing job and the costumes really set the time frame. I just have one question, did the men in
those times really wear a lot of

The Women s Winner Of The Wimbledon Championship
Success is sometimes a long and winding journey. Many times you need to overcome the barriers
that block you and naysayers who doubt you. Sometimes you need to fight though your own self
doubts to achieve success in your life.
Marion Bartoli, the women s winner of the Wimbledon Championship, had to take a long and
winding journey to overcome many barriers, naysayers and self doubts to achieve to reach the
pinnacle of the professional tennis world and become a champion. Whether you follow or play
tennis or not, the following are seven secrets to achieving more success can be applied to your life:
1. Believe in Success Marion, from the age of six years old, believed that she would win the
Wimbledon championship. Because of this unwavering belief, she developed the attitude that she
would someday win the tournament. She developed powerful goals, developed a detailed action
plan to accomplish her goals, and stayed focused on achieving those goals. Once your belief is in
place, you will develop the persistence to overcome many obstacles on your success journey.
What goals do you want to achieve? What steps will you take to achieve your goals? When will
you start?
2.Visualize Your Success Marion would visualize herself winning the Wimbledon Championship.
She would visualize every detail of the championship: what the crowds would look like, the
sounds of the crowd, and the smell of the foods. Marion would visualize what it would look like for
her to dominate her opponents.

Social Process Theory Paper
This paper will be discussing the three theories under the Social Process theory, Social learning
theory, Social Control theory, and the Social labeling theory. This paper will also be discussing
the similarities and differences of these theories. The Social Process theory is the view that
criminality is a function of people s interactions with various organizations, institutions, and
processes in society. Social Learning theory is the view that people learn to be aggressive by
observing others acting aggressively to achieve some goal or being rewarded for violent acts. A
man by the name of Albert Bandura came up with an experiment the studies the Social Learning
theory; the experiment was called the Bobo Doll Experiment. In the early 1960 s, Albert Bandura
conducted this experiment and in this experiment, he had children watch a video of an adult
aggressively playing with toys, including a Bobo doll. This adult hit the bobo doll, knocked it
down and jumped on the doll screaming POW! AND Kick him! After the children watched the
video, they were then allowed to play with a lot of toys, including the bobo doll, and the... Show

Social Control theory explains that everyone has the potential to become a criminal, but most
people are controlled by their bonds to society. Social Control theory was developed by Travis
Hirsch in 1969. Under the Social Control theory, individuals break the law due to a breakdown with
Society s bond. There are four elements that constitutes society s bond. These four elements are
attachment, commitment, involvement and belief. It is to believe that when one of these four
elements is broken then that individual may then participate in criminal activity. For example, if

A Genetic Engineering Outline
oTH Morgan concluded that chromosome play an important part in heredity and the passing on
genetic traits o Griffith injected mice with different types of bacteria and when he injected them
with S cells, the mice died. When the mice were injected with the R cells, they continued to live.
The mice would survive if they were injected with heat killed S Cells but died when given a
dosage of heat killed S Cells and normal R Cells. The reaction of the two cells was the possible
and most likely death of the mouse. o Avery, Macleod, and McCarthy took the findings of Griffith
and wanted to reason why the combination of the two cells killed the mouse. The took the different
parts which would cause the DNA, Protein, and RNA and eventually eliminated them one by one.
After all of that, only bacteria that was exposed to the S strain DNA were transformed. This gave
the idea that DNA is what was controlling living things and was the outcome of this experiment o
Hershey and Chase Radioactively tagged and then tracked infected bacteria in order to prove that

Investigate the Behaviour of Organisations and the Market...
Introduction
In this assignment I will identify the structure of markets within the economy and explain how they
deviate from the model of perfect competition. I will also expand on which market forces dominate
the market place, identifying the organisational responses to demand including the adoption of
competitive strategies within the free market. Finally I will explain the role of the competition
commission and regulatory bodies.
Market Types
The most important factor within any market is the number of rivals competing for a share of the
business. Competition, as described by Stigler, G (2008) arises whenever two or more parties strive
for something that all cannot obtain. Perfect competition is seen as a theoretical ideal and ... Show

Market forces
Market forces are primarily concerned with the supply of and demand for goods and services
within the free market. The demand for a good can be influenced by many factors such as price,
available substitutes and a person s income. Price can be one of the primary forces when looking
at the demand for a product, it does however have limitations. Demand may not necessarily rise
if the price drops below a certain level, people will automatically assume an inferior product and
not purchase it. Similarly if a product that is essential to the consumer is priced higher the
demand may not decrease, petrol is a good example of this. In order for us to predict how much
someone is willing to buy at a given price, we must first create a demand schedule, which can be
represented as a demand curve. (Fig 1.)
Fig 1.
It is apparent that as the price of an item increases, the quantity demanded reduces. This is an over
simplification as there are many non price factors affecting demand. The Ceteris paribus clause can
best used to describe this method of analysis.
Non price factors affecting demand
Product substitution occurs when the demand for one product affects the demand of another.
Although price can influence peoples decision to buy a substitute, personal taste, brand loyalty and
demography can influence decisions often more persuasively than price. People s income can also
affect their purchasing habits, often increasing their

John Coffey s Defense Mechanism In The Movie
Freud s defense mechanisms are thoroughly seen and depicted well in the movie. John Coffey
demonstrates the defense mechanism of regression. Regression is when one withdraws to former
and childish like characteristics. John has childlike behaviors such as being afraid of the dark and
this intensified because of his environment at the cold prison. Another defense mechanism that is
seen is rationalization. This is portrayed in the character Paul. Rationalization is when one self
justifies their actions and usually these actions are bad. Paul rationalizes the killing of John
Coffey, an innocent man, because by law he has been convicted for murder. Although Paul knows
this is untrue, he looks to the evidence of the murder to excuse his actions of allowing Coffey to go
down the green mile. Percy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An external locus of control is the perception that something outside of one s control determines
their fate. The prisoners sentenced to death display this characteristic because they do not try to
change their fate and accept that there is nothing they can do. Paul also demonstrates an
external locus of control because he knows John s powers gave him life for a long time and he
knows there is nothing he can do about his life span. Percy displays a negative self esteem.
People with a negative self esteem tend to be judgmental and belittle on others to make
themselves feel better. Percy acts this way throughout the entire movie towards the inmates by
calling them scum and other negative words. Percy also was prejudice towards John because of
his African American heritage and his height considering Percy was a small man. Since John
Coffey was an enormous African American, there is a negative stereotype on him from the
townspeople. They assume since his appearance is different, that he was the murderer of the two
little girls. A stereotype is a widely used belief about a group of people, in this case African

Analysis Of Luria And Rubin ( 1974 )
Introduction
Subject investigated: Gender stereotypes
Details and aim of replicated study: Luria and Rubin (1974)
Background literature: Previous studies about gender stereotypes enforced on people include;
Effect of infant s perceived gender on adolescents ratings of the infant by Degelman, Dvorak, and
Homutoff and Cowan (1983). These studies highlight feminine and masculine traits. They ask
middle school students to rate a baby on each of those traits.
Rationale: Our group decided to examine the differences in how boys and girls are described. We
used a baby, whose gender is not mentioned, as the control. We knew that specific sets of
expectations based on gender are enforced at a young age. We thought adjectives used to describe a
baby could highlight stereotypical gender roles.
Aim / Hypothesis: We believe it is more likely for the baby to be described based on appearance
when told it is a girl and when told it is a boy to be described based on their potential and whether
they looked smart . Our aim is to highlight the differences between males and females using
stereotypical gender roles.
Method
Design: 15 students were each asked the same question, could you tell us 5 words or phrases that
describe this baby? . 5 were told it was a girl, 5 were told it was a boy, and 5 weren t told a gender.
We decided to use 15 people so that we could use the non gendered descriptions from 5 of the
participants and compare them to the descriptions of boys and

Democratic Peace Theory
Intro: US Presidents have made it a goal during their term(s) in office to establish a good
relationship with foreign countries and even try to improve upon existing connections with our
allies. Some believe it is to prevent conflicts between the countries while others dispute that it is a
threat assessment by the United Statesto pick and choose their friends and enemies. Preventing
conflict between two democracies or countries that practice democracyis called Democratic Peace
Theory. However, research has begun to show that Democratic Peace Theory is ineffective and
needs to be brought to an end as a model for how international relations are formed or destroyed.

Gleditsch asks the question if democracies really do keep the peace and he found out that they try
to but also sometimes have problems within their own house (Gleditsch 289). This could explain
why rebellions within a country usually win because the government is torn if they should quiet the
rebellion or concede because they do not want to be thrown out of office.
Shouldn t leave the football with a passionate fan: Democratic Peace Theory cannot work as a
solution for unsuccessful talks when it comes to foreign policy because when deciding if
democracies should go to war with one another, having the citizens decide is bad because the
average person does not think rationally, they think emotionally which leads to more problems.
Take the Cold War of the United States against the USSR as an example of how emotions almost
destroyed two nations. People were spying on their own family members out of fear of being
branded a communist and the fear of nuclear annihilation was ever present danger that children
were doing drills in case of nuclear fallout. Had it not been for Gorbachev assuming power in
Russia and letting his people see what freedom was about through his policies, we would not be
here today. Mr. Layne, author of Kant or Can t, furthers the point by stating that Democracies
behave differently against non democracies (Layne 4). Democratic Peace Theory cannot be a
solution to resolve foreign

Quantico Summary
For this response paper I watched the second episode of the first season of Quantico. This
episode provided me with many examples of the construction of gender. These include when
Alex Parish is said to have had sex with her superior and then when she broke it off hey offer the
idea that he is trying to track her in as a way of revenge, how on top of being involved with her
superior she also falls in love with a fellow trainee, and how Alex Parish s desire to be the best and
to prove herself makes her a target.
In the first aspect, this would first point to the idea of how women are seen as exotic. This goes
into the idea that a social belief has arisen on the exotic dress and action of women, saying that
women who act and dress sexually, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going by Rosabeth Kanter s labels of women workers, she would be seen as an Iron Maiden. She
is clearly competent, more so than the majority of her fellow trainees, but when she is challenged
by other trainees or has problems with other trainees, then she becomes cold and harsh to the
individuals and as a result works harder to prove herself in her field. Moreover, after finally
making up with Ryan, she continues to challenge him and be challenged by Ryan s current
girlfriend, thus resulting in her being colder to them during exercises and making her even
more successful due to this competition. In Davis and Collins view of women s workplace
labels, they would be view as kind of a mixture between a jezebel and a matriarch. She can
definitely be seen as sexually promiscuous at this point in the series do to her high enactment of
sexual activity with a fellow trainee and her superior but is also very aggressive in her desire to
be the best by not only thinking outside the box but also by taking on challenges of physical and
mental background, and stepping up to them over stepping down to the challenge. Moreover, she
can be seen as controlling but not completely. She trusts her gut and goes with the action and
decision that seems most reasonable to her. While she doesn t control the whole situation because
she doesn t force people to take on her view, she does control it in the fact that she makes her own

Use of Mrs. Tobins’s DNA in the Murder of Amanda Christopher
Use of Mrs. Tobins s DNA in the Murder of Amanda Christopher
Introduction:
DNA comparisons are crucial when investigating crimes. Amanda Christopher s home had a
significant amount of forensic evidence behind that has yet to be determined. The Supreme Court
has analyzed the issue as to whether or not use storing and using DNA was considered
constitutional. Although, Pennsylvania is silent on the issue, several states have seen the need for
the use and storage of DNA that is obtained of arrestees charged of serious crimes, such as felonies
and sexual offenses. Analyzing both the federal and other states provides some guidance as to
whether or not the use of previously obtained DNA is constitutional.
Questions Presented:
1. What is the standard for using previously obtained DNA from an unrelated arrest for a current
investigation?
Answer: Depends on the state. Few states allow the storage and use of an arrestee s DNA in certain
criminal proceedings. Most states, including Pennsylvania, limit the storage and use of DNA to
those who were convicted.
2. Can the police use DNA collected at the time of the arrest of Mrs. Tobin from the jewelry store
incident for comparison of the DNA found at Amanda Christopher s home? Answer: Maybe.

Analysis Of All Summer And A Day By Ray Bradbury
Hope and Sunlight in All Summer and a Day An Analysis of Author s Craft Everyone needs to
believe that things are going to get better, particularly when facing challenging or troubling times.
Our world is fraught with sadness, misfortune, and adversity, and the world constructed by Ray
Bradbury in All Summer in a Day is no different. Unending rain, gray skies, and endless dark
doldrums beneath the surface of Venus plague the lives of the young children in his short story.
And yet, every night when they go to sleep, the young protagonists hope for more. Despite being
surrounded by a gray plague of ceaseless rain, the children dream of the sun. In All Summer in a
Day, Bradbury uses the sun throughout the text to symbolize hope.... Show more content on

He writes, Sometimes, at night, she heard them stir, in remembrance, and she knew they were
dreaming and remembering gold or a yellow crayon or a coin large enough to buy the world
with. She knew they thought they remembered a warmness, like a blushing in the face, in the
body, in the arms and legs and trembling hands (Bradbury 1). As stated previously, the sun is
connected to positive imagery through analogy and simile. The use of analogy and simile in the
description of the children s dreaming further shows how the children have no context or
experience with the thing itself and can only dream of vague likenesses of the object of their
desire. The children dimly know the sun exists and subconsciously remember it as they dream
each night, making it representative of something they hope for and desire greatly. At the climax
of the story, the sun comes out and the children come to life. The setting is now alive and full of
vibrance. [The sun] was the color of flaming bronze, and it was very large. And the sky around it
was a blazing blue tile color. And the jungle burned with sunlight as the children, released from
their spell, rushed out, yelling into the springtime (Bradbury 3). The sun is now present through
vivid description, and it is no longer a dim hope but an omnipresent flame of freedom and beauty.
The children become more wild and joyful now that the sun is present in their waking world: ...they

Gender Roles During World War II Essay
Gender Roles in World War II Females, specifically female spies, were given a new role in
society that would earn them the success to revolutionize the gender roles of the world. The
identity of a woman changed drastically as a result of growing political and diplomatic tensions
in many countries throughout World War II. In the beginning, most women were content with
fulfilling the suburban housewife role. Then, partially due to their necessity, and partially do to
society s role of evolution, women became the key to a functioning society. No longer were
women seen as the weak link in society; they finally had a purpose other than being a housewife.
Without hesitation, the wives and mothers of America rose up and offered their services to
anywhere that would accept, including espionage. Fortunate for America, the female employees
were not only physically cut out to work, but mentally cut out as well. At the request of
President Roosevelt, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was formed. The OSS, principally
dedicated to espionage, regulated thousands of undercover woman aiming to help the war effort.
Of the 16,000 espionage agents, 14,000 were released to foreign enemy turf. America needed an
edge on the Axis powers, and female spies were the optimum choice. One of the most influential
female spy s, part of the OSS, was Virginia Hall. Disguised as an elderly cook and cow tender in
France, Hall was able to spot out safe fields for supply drops and listen in on

After several months of failed experiments they had finally made a bomb to test. On July 6, 1945
they had tested this new bomb at Los Alamos. Then one month later the 2 nuclear bombs were
dropped on Japans Hiroshima and Nagasaki. One of the main reasons that Truman had initiated the
dropping was because he belived it would end the war.
Once every one had realized that the Manhattan Project was a success the Soviet Union had begin
to make there own form of a nuclear weapon. Thus the begin of the atomic arms race had started.
This had also started the beginning of the cold war as well. (http://library.thinkquest.org/17940/texts

In 1949 the cold war had started , China had turned communist, and the Soviet Union tested there

Formation Of The New Government Essay
Formation of the New Government
After the American Revolutionary War, the colonists needed a government so no one could take
away their power. There were several things the colonists needed to do to accomplish this task. Here
is how the United States Constitution overcame the weaknesses of The Articles of Confederation
and provided the organization a new government. They started by gaining a strong government,
providing power, and ended by giving the United States more abilities. Sense The Articles of
Confederation was the first government in the U.S. it made the central government weak. This was
when the Continental Congress made a plan for the nation. On the other hand, there was the
Constitutional Convention. This point in time was when representatives created The Great
Compromise and Three Fifths Compromise. In the Debate Over the Constitution you were either a
federalist or anti federalist which meant you either supported or opposed to the new constitution.

Constitution to go into effect and the big argument between the federalists and antifederalists

Why Did The Big Bang Theory Exist
There are many possible conclusions that scientists may come to when looking at the universe s
beginning. Although we can not go back in time to look at the past, there are many logical theories
which could determine what happened. Throughout the many possible scientific theories for the
origin of the universe, the big bangtheory is the most logical about how the universe began due to
how the universe is expanding, leftover energy, and the abundance of certain elements. The big
bang theory is the leading explanation about how the universe began. This phenomenon shows that
the universe started in a small singularity which grew to what we know today. A singularity is a
zone of finite matter shoved into an area of infinite density. Scientists... Show more content on

In the Big Bang model of origins, it is thought to be that the universe was full of extremely
concentrated and unstable energy. In fact, it is assumed that the matter was so compact that one
teaspoon of space weighed 100 million trillion trillion trillion pounds, which defies the laws of
physics. Three minutes after the big bang, all the hydrogen atoms were created, and after some
more time, all helium atoms were created. If the conditions stayed at such a high temperature, the
elements we see today would be different and the conditions for life would not be met. The Big

Vincent Van Gogh Essay
Vincent Van Gogh
The people back in the 19th century really didn t accept Van Gaogh s truthful and emotionally
morbid way of expressing the way of art is to himself. It finally was seen as art through the
people s eyes. This set a stage of art that is now known as Expressionism. It is best characterized
by the use of symbols and a style that expresses the artist s inner feelings about his subject. His
style of painting is exemplified by a projection of the painter s inner experience onto the canvas he
paints on. Van Gogh s paintingsare done with his feelings that goes on in his life. (Mark Harden s

As a child Vincent was a quiet person. Elizabeth Van Gogh said, Not only was his little sisters and
brothers strangers to him, but he was a stranger to himself. And he also walked around all dazed
and clumsily. (Voyager)
Vincent had queer manners and seemed to be more like an old man, said a servant of the Van
Gogh family that worked for them when Vincent was a child. His mother was really disappointed in
him and then eventually the entire family. Even his closes friend, his brother, Theo Van Gogh who
helped him financially became disappointed. Vincent said that Theo comforted his mother and is
worthy to be comforted by his mother. On the other hand Vincent was rejected. Vincent later said
that his childhood was gloomy and cold and sterile. (Voyager)
Observers of Van Gogh s life believed that his eccentricities, compounded to create many distressing
experiences that directly impacted the development of Expressionism. This was visible from his
early childhood. Painting was no longer seen through pictures, it became a crucible that could hold
all of the artist s passions, conflicts, and unrealized dreams. (Encyclopedia.com)

to focus on your own breathing as well as your movement. You should also connect with your
surroundings.
Clear Mind
Clear mind meditation is similar to the basic type. The difference is the fact that you will be
required to completely clear your mind. Basic meditation at least allows you to have thoughts

relieve stress.

Legislation regulating home based child carer s and the role of Ofsted the regulatory body
All people working with children are governed by legislation that is in place to protect your
children and the child care provider. In this document I have listed four important legislations
that are of particular importance to home based child care providers and noted how I aim to
incorporate them into my practice. Child care practitioners also have a regulatory body; in
England it is Ofsted. This document gives you a brief description of their supervisory role in
child care settings. However, the list of legislation is not comprehensive and nor is the short

This law proctects people from prejudice and allows legal action to be taken against any person or
company who is proven to have unfairly treated any of the protected groups covered by this Act.
Everyone is welcome at my childcare service and we strive to ensure that the children learn about
the importance of inclusion and the acceptance of others. I try to explain that in many cases it
can just be fear of not knowing or understanding but this makes for a fantasic learning experience
to discuss and learn about other peoples religions, cultures and so forth and that differences are
good. In our play room there are many books, puzzles, pictures and other toys that promote the
inclusion and acceptance of all groups of people including disabled, black and other ethnicities and
the elderly but to name a few. You may also like to read the equal opportunites policy.

Marker Dna Investigation
To begin the lab, marker DNA, crime scene DNA, and suspect DNA was collected for analysis.
The goal for the experiment was to distinguish the perpetrator of the crime through the
observation of the DNA in each suspect. In order to do this, each collection of the certain DNA
was initially stained in order for it to be visible and separated into smaller fragments with
restriction enzymes. Gel electrophoresis was used to separate the DNAmolecules based on size. To
do this, a micropipette and agarose gel were utilized. The micropipette collected 10 microliters of
each DNA at a time and was meticulously placed inside a well of the porous gel. After one specific
DNA was used, it was ensured that the DNA from that collection did not contaminate the other
through the use of the micropipette. Once the marker DNA, crime... Show more content on

The marker DNA contained DNA fragments whose base pairs and size were previously known.
Thus, when it is separated through gel electrophoresis, the strands visible can be compared to
the other DNA strands and the size of the adjacent strands can be estimated. A semi log graph
was utilized to determine the unknown DNA fragment sizes. The distances migrated, and the
DNA fragment size of the marker DNA was first plotted. Then, a line of best fit was drawn for
reference. The distance the DNA fragments of crime scene DNA, suspect one s DNA, and
suspect two s DNA had traveled through the agarose gel was calculated. Once those values were
known, the points along the line of best fit that were intersected by the x axis values of the
distance traveled by the DNA fragments were the estimated sizes of the separated DNA
fragments. Once the sizes were discovered, the data was observed in order to exonerate and
implicate a suspect. After observation, suspect one was exonerated as suspect two s DNA
fragments closely resembled and matched up with those in the crime scene

How is it possible for people to be able to hit the lotto for millions and yet there is people starving
in their homes ? How can there be so much misery in midst of such abundance ? Inequality is the
source of enormous frustration among groups who no longer believe that they can achieve a
reasonable facsmile of consumption as those of the upper classes. The social problems that result
from such feelings represent some of the most fundamental contradictions that persist under
advanced capitalism. That is why it should be of no surprise, then, that understanding the principle
cause of these issues is an important topic for discussion. Today, government programs come and

Peet says Mechanization raises the surplus exploitable by the owners of the means of production
by increasing the productivity of labor, and thus increases the capital available for reinvestment
in more machinery, facilities, and raw materials (566). This means that as economic
development takes place, the relative demand for labor falls because mechanization provides
and faster and more efficient means of production. Production costs become more and more the
costs of depreciating machinery and less and less the costs of hiring labor as machines are
increasingly used to increase capital. As mechanization proceeds, unemployment increases and a
labor reserve army is created. Under capitalism, economic development does not proceed
smoothly. There are sudden bursts of expansion and even old declining industries bloom during
economic booms. Peet says In such a situation the economy needs a quick transfusion of labor; a
labor reserve is necessary, to be pulled into the labor force when needed, and discharged just as
rapidly when demand slackens or mechanization proceeds (567). In other words, the labor reserve
prevents surplus value from being diverted from capital accumulation to labor; thus, serving its role
under capitalism. The Marxist argument, therefore, is that inequality is not a temporary aberation
nor poverty a surprising paradox in advanced capitalist societies: instead inequality and poverty are
vital to the normal operation of

Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note
The poem, Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani is very similar to the song, Jumper by Third Eye
Blind but differentiates in many ways, also. These two pieces of work are very much similar in
the way their themes are expressed through the use of imagery and symbolism to help tell their
story about suicide and how it has affected them. The two pieces also differentiate when it comes
to who is actually narrating the story and the tone of voice being used. There is a lot of
relationship between the themes of the poem, Suicide Note and the song, Jumper . Both of these
works seem to correlate with the overall theme of suicide. The poem, Suicide Note , reflects on the
tragedy of certain cultures where women are so degraded and devalued that they

Collaborative Anthropological Theory-Making
Question: Discuss how dialogues with interlocutors during fieldwork can be formative to
anthropological theory making and debates on truth .
Introduction
This essay discusses how dialogues with interlocutors during fieldwork can be formative to
anthropological theory making and debates on truth . Lassiter in Schwartz, Saul, and Rena
Lederman (2011: 70) urges anthropologists to view themselves and their informants in an I you
relationship, a dialogue, two people next to each other reading the same text and discussing it face
to face.
The scholarly work of Evans Pritchard on Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande tribe

These models put the anthropologist and his or her conversationalists as subjective equivalents

within the human and social sciences away from seeing the researcher as collecting and gathering
data to recognising both the researcher and the informant as active in the production of data. The
research process is a joint venture allowing for equity between researcher and informant. This does
not omit question of power and control in the research process but it recognises the importance of
establishing more fluid notions that actually work to establish informants as participants and

Homelessness In Canada Essay
As the holiday season is right around the corner, you may be considering a few specific things
you will be asking for Christmas this year. A few ideas that might come to mind could be a new
pair of shoes, or the newest and hottest video game. While this might be true, there are many
people out there who have to find a roof over my head at the top of their list. Those with that
wish are those people you pass by everyday on the streets, shaking a tin can with the rustling
sound of a couple loose change and those Canadian Tire bills people just throw in. Those people
are evidently homeless; as they depend on the streets and a cardboard box for a home and a bed.
At least 200,000 people experience homelessnessin Canada each year! To give you a better
visualization, approximately 30,000 Canadians will spend their night unsheltered, tonight. That s
more than 30,000 people waking up on ChristmasDay without a home to call their own [2].

  • 2. Maasai And The Kiasau Tribe Emma van Zuthem Individuals 8D September 29, 2014 Cultural Differences There are millions of different tribes in the world, each one have their own unique culture. Many tribes share different aspects of culture, while others don t. But why doesn t everyone share the same aspects of life? In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the cultural aspects of the Maasai and the Kikuyu tribe, and explaining the reasons for their differences. The Maasai tribe live in East Africa, specifically in Kenya and Tanzania. Their population is very large; it is made up of half a million people. They are a nomadic tribe, meaning that they move around from place to place. The Kikuyu, is another traditional tribe who live in Kenya, specifically (please ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditionally, the Maasai eat cow s milk, blood, and meat. From this they can especially get the protein they need. The Kikuyu s diet is made up of vegetables, bananas, sugarcane, beans, maize, and more. As the Kikuyu don t own that much cattle, they eat what they grow and what they gather. The Maasai and the Kikuyu have a large difference in their diets. The reasoning for this cultural difference is, in my opinion, because of some of their values and their environment. The Maasai value cattle and they own a huge variety of it. They don t grow crops as much because they are nomadic people. While the Kikuyu don t own that much cattle. They are hunter gatherers so they grow their own crops and they find their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about The Well Paid Receptionist Analysis of The Well Paid Receptionist Harvey Finley is in quite the predicament. He his company s net profit should be approximately $107, 614.21 greater than he expected for this year. The problem is that his secretary/receptionist is making six to seven times the amount of an average good secretary/receptionist in the local market and has been for a few years. There s a few ways this issue can be addressed. One way would be to talk to Ms. Brannen and advice her that there has been an oversight in her salary over the past few years and for the upcoming year the oversight will be corrected and her salary will be adjusted to $25,000 per year with no percent of sales bonus. Another way to address the issue is to fire the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would have also had time to make some sales and see how the potential sales market is doing and instead of offering her 2% in sales which obviously we now know was a bad strategy, can offer her more upfront in salary. A person that likes the job they are doing will not leave for one or two thousand dollars more. So Finley can be true to her and make a counter offer in hopes that she would accept and stay. As for the other negative aspect of her getting back together with her husband in Houston and move back there, Finley would either have to offer her a significant more salary or find her husband a position at Troupville Business Systems. The other important value driver to consider in establishing the Value Over Time maximization is owner values . As the owner Finley s main concern is to keep his business running. Another concern is to make more and more profit each year. Owners need to worry about reputation risk as well and the well being of each of their employees. Some problems Finley is facing with his company, Troupville Business Systems, is that he is paying his secretary more than double what his highest paid manager is making. The problem Finley is facing is not knowing what should be done about this or how to approach the issue. The potential problems that may arise if the current situation ... • 4. The Energy Industry Is Controlled And Dominated By The... Currently, the energy industry is controlled and dominated by the consumption of fossil fuels. As energy companies are constantly burning these fossil fuels, this leaves the public questioning how much supply we have left after this period of usage. Despite this, the search for alternative energy sources to lower the cost of living for families around Australia has been going for years, where some have found what works for them and their price range while others have not. Australia is ranked 16th in the world for most energy consumed per capita totalling over 5590 kgoe/a (Kilograms of Oil Equivalent per annum) of crude oil. Over 73% of Australian families uses electricity that is derived from coal, 13% use electricity produced from natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes, a community is able to live on renewable energysources such as wind power and solar power. A majority of local systems should install power grids purely based upon renewable energy, depending on the source will depend on the area and the source that can generate the most on demand. For example, small communities further in land will be able to depend on the use of geothermal energy due to being in an isolated area where the mine can be installed and maintained without disturbing day to day activities whereas in a city this would be impossible. The primary question regarding the use of renewable/alternative energy sources is if they re able to generate enough energy to cover the entire country? While the answer is currently unknown, we know variables which in the end can bring us as a country to the conclusion. In a 2009 report by the Australian Academy of Science, they state that Today s scientific and political consensus is that the level of global emissions of greenhouse gases needs [to stabilise at] atmospheric concentrations somewhere between 450 to 500 parts per million to avoid serious, if not catastrophic, effects on life and property. Achieving this goal poses some formidable challenges . On top of this statement, there are multiple uncertainties such as climate change, cost, and limitations. Currently, Australians alone produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Summary Of In The Road To Evergreen By Rachael Stryker In The Road to Evergreen by Rachael Stryker is an interesting eye catching ethnography that emphasizes on the psychiatric disorder on adopted children called RAD, also known as reactive attachment disorder. Reactive attachment disorder Describes children who are considered to be unable or unwilling to bond with parental (most often mother) figures (Stryker 3). The reason why these particular children are unable to form a bond with their primary familyis because in their past relationships formed with their birth parents, if any, have been either neglected or abused in both a physical and or mental way. So, in the end, the child is left with RAD and their new adopted families are the ones who have to get help for them in hope for a noticeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kinship is the study of relationships or kin, therefore is an important role on how a person behaves as well as form attachments with other groups i.e. new family members. A great example of this is the movie we watched in class called The Dark Matter Of Love. Masha had a very difficult time adjusting with her new family because she couldn t understand them and the family felt overwhelmed with 3 adopted children from Russia and you could tell by the way the parents acted. But, overtime she and the other two adoptees learned to love, care ad be happy with their family. Which goes to show that once you adjust and take things at a slow and steady pace that everything turns out for the best. I also believe this goes in hand with Stryker s central argument that if new parents had the same way of thinking like the Diaz s, that maybe they wouldn t reach the point of distress and turn to the evergreen model. Stryker s main point is that there are different ways to get help for your child, and that you don t need to basically torture them for them to love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. New Mission Statement And Vision Statement New mission statement and vision statement analysis As a result of recent security breach of the Baltimore City Government, Cyber Software Inc. feels required to introduce a new mission and vision statement that stimulate confidence on the company s ability to combat cyberattacks on our customers networks. Cyber Software s new vision statement and mission statement demonstrates the company s commitment to deliver a highly efficient cybersecurity software. The new mission statement also highlights the approach that the company will take in order to achieve this new level of proficiency. Due to increasing internal conflicts among programmers, the new mission statement also accentuates the organization s concern toward its employees. Cyber Software s intend to restructure its organization will be facilitated only if its current mission and vision statement are change. The organization will go through a transformation that unless the company presents a well defined mission and vision statement, some employees might even resist changes which will translate into wasted time and resources. • 9. Analysis Of Cirque Du Soleil Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company. It is the largest theatrical producer in the world. For the APS 325 field trip, we attended Cirque du Soleil s latest production Volta. Volta has the theme of freedom as a movement and self acceptance. It is inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of action sports. The story revolves around the central character called Waz who is a popular game show host and has lost touch with his inner self in pursuit of fame. But over time, he is filled with doubt and is reminded of his childhood memories of encounters with a group of people called the free spirits who help him connect with his inner self. From the show, I noticed that there are three primary groups of people who are defined by their key characteristics as well as clothing. The first group of people are the Free Spirits who are driven by impulses and dreams. These group of individuals are life and self loving humans who are always seeking to fulfil their potential and that of others too. They are always on the run, breaking through and fighting for freedom, and inspire Waz to embrace his true self. To show this characteristic, all the performers from this group are dressed in extremely bright and colourful clothes as seen in Figure 1. The second set of characters are called the Greys who are city dwellers that have accumulated the dust of inertia over time. • 11. The Glue That Makes All The Good Grades Think Back to high school, when you were in class with 30 other students. You do all the work, make all the good grades and someone else gets all the credit. In my high school days, we called these people teachers pets . These people made it seem like everything was about them. They wanted to control everything and most of the students wanted to tellthis student off but couldn t because the teacher would always take their side. Now, in this play we have a mother named Amanda and like the teacher s pet, Amanda wants to control every aspect of her children s life. May I add, that the children that she tried to control are well above the legal adult age. The children, like the other students in the classroom, wanted to tell her off but it wouldn t be of any value because they had no backing. Amanda is truly the glue that makes this play what it is today. Amanda is the most important character in this play because she wants to live her life through her kids, everything that went wrong was because of her, and because of her nagging ways. Amanda truly wants to live her life though her children life at any cost. Just like any parent Amanda wants to have her children succeed in life. She truly wants her children to go on and enjoy their life and I believe that she feels disappointed because she can t give them what they need to survive the rest of their life s because she isn t financially stable enough for this. Since she can t give them what they need, she pushes them to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Abby Wambach, Mia Hamm, and Alex Morgan are just some of the many influential female soccer players. Through all of them, Mia Hamm stands out the most. Mia Hamm is influential because she was the founder of a bone marrow research foundation, she wrote a kids book to encourage them not to quit even if they don t win, and she is an inspiration to girls who want to play soccer or any other sports. Winners Never Quit! / Mia Hamm (Book) says The world s top goal scorer and three time Olympian offers a soccer tale, putatively autobiographical, about a little girl whose tendency to stomp off the field when frustrated prompts her teammates to teach her a lesson. The text perfectly reflects a competitive child s rage when things don t go as desired. The book could be an influence to kids to show them the importance of having good sportsmanship and not being too hard on yourself when you don t win. Next, it says Mia learns quickly that there will be times when she will score a goal and those when she will not, but playing the game is the most fun of all. This quote supports that her book is one of the reasons she is influential because it comes from her point of view so it s easy for kids who have had the same attitude when they don t win to relate to. Last, Winners Never Quit! says, Mia Hamm, American soccer champion and best selling author of Go for the Goal, tells a true life inspired story of learning that winning and losing aren t as important as being part of a team. • 13. The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum Of Art, Cleveland Formal Analysis of The Annuciation The painting The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland) was made in Netherlands, or possibly France, in the 1380s, using tempera and oil with gold on wood panel. A vertical composition of about 31.43 Г— 40.32 cm, the sacred iconography depicts the biblical scene of the Archangel Gabriel, sent by God, announcing to the Virgin that she would soon give birth to Christ. The artist, who was commissioned to draw this piece, is unknown. The patron probably commissioned the artwork for devotional use. It might be part of a narrative polyptych, conveying the biblical story of Christ, expressing the divinity of God and Christianity. In the foreground, the two main figures of the scene, the Virgin and the Archangel, are markedly painted larger than the figures in the background, and thus, they become the attractive focus of the whole painting. ... However, she holds her hands in front of her breast, eyes gazing at God s message brought by the Archangel, palms facing each other, indicating surprise and excitement due to the message. The Virgin s serene facial expression contradicts her behavior, perhaps because the message not only tells her the incarnation of Christ but also foreshadows his doomed death. Another argument of the disputants is that the construction of a high speed railways system would only benefit a small portion of the United States population. Didn t think I would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was thinking to myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being bored. Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play really drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of Antonio Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it from. Those two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri to have you on your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison Mozart and if so why to tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes. There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple draw the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when Salieri first came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed very bitter and insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. He never lost my attention and seemed very live throughout the entire scene. All the characters did an amazing job and the costumes really set the time frame. This paper will also be discussing the similarities and differences of these theories. The Social Process theory is the view that criminality is a function of people s interactions with various organizations, institutions, and processes in society. Social Learning theory is the view that people learn to be aggressive by observing others acting aggressively to achieve some goal or being rewarded for violent acts. A man by the name of Albert Bandura came up with an experiment the studies the Social Learning theory; the experiment was called the Bobo Doll Experiment. In the early 1960 s, Albert Bandura conducted this experiment and in this experiment, he had children watch a video of an adult aggressively playing with toys, including a Bobo doll. A Genetic Engineering Outline oTH Morgan concluded that chromosome play an important part in heredity and the passing on genetic traits o Griffith injected mice with different types of bacteria and when he injected them with S cells, the mice died. When the mice were injected with the R cells, they continued to live. The mice would survive if they were injected with heat killed S Cells but died when given a dosage of heat killed S Cells and normal R Cells. The reaction of the two cells was the possible and most likely death of the mouse. o Avery, Macleod, and McCarthy took the findings of Griffith and wanted to reason why the combination of the two cells killed the mouse. The took the different parts which would cause the DNA, Protein, and RNA and eventually eliminated them one by one. After all of that, only bacteria that was exposed to the S strain DNA were transformed. This gave the idea that DNA is what was controlling living things and was the outcome of this experiment o Hershey and Chase Radioactively tagged and then tracked infected bacteria in order to prove that DNA was in fact the molecule of heredity and transferring of genetic material o Chargaff proved two very important rules about DNA, All species have different amounts of adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine in their DNA The Amount of Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine and Thymine in each species DNA is different. o Crick and Watson used X ray diffraction data, which Rosalind Franklin developed which was then used to develop the double ... Introduction In this assignment I will identify the structure of markets within the economy and explain how they deviate from the model of perfect competition. I will also expand on which market forces dominate the market place, identifying the organisational responses to demand including the adoption of competitive strategies within the free market. Finally I will explain the role of the competition commission and regulatory bodies. Market Types The most important factor within any market is the number of rivals competing for a share of the business. Competition, as described by Stigler, G (2008) arises whenever two or more parties strive for something that all cannot obtain. Perfect competition is seen as a theoretical ideal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Market forces Market forces are primarily concerned with the supply of and demand for goods and services within the free market. The demand for a good can be influenced by many factors such as price, available substitutes and a person s income. Price can be one of the primary forces when looking at the demand for a product, it does however have limitations. Demand may not necessarily rise if the price drops below a certain level, people will automatically assume an inferior product and not purchase it. Similarly if a product that is essential to the consumer is priced higher the demand may not decrease, petrol is a good example of this. In order for us to predict how much someone is willing to buy at a given price, we must first create a demand schedule, which can be represented as a demand curve. (Fig 1.) Fig 1. It is apparent that as the price of an item increases, the quantity demanded reduces. This is an over simplification as there are many non price factors affecting demand. The Ceteris paribus clause can best used to describe this method of analysis. Non price factors affecting demand Product substitution occurs when the demand for one product affects the demand of another. Although price can influence peoples decision to buy a substitute, personal taste, brand loyalty and demography can influence decisions often more persuasively than price. People s income can also affect their purchasing habits, often increasing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regression is when one withdraws to former and childish like characteristics. John has childlike behaviors such as being afraid of the dark and this intensified because of his environment at the cold prison. Another defense mechanism that is seen is rationalization. This is portrayed in the character Paul. Rationalization is when one self justifies their actions and usually these actions are bad. Paul rationalizes the killing of John Coffey, an innocent man, because by law he has been convicted for murder. Although Paul knows this is untrue, he looks to the evidence of the murder to excuse his actions of allowing Coffey to go down the green mile. Percy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Percy displays a negative self esteem. People with a negative self esteem tend to be judgmental and belittle on others to make themselves feel better. Percy acts this way throughout the entire movie towards the inmates by calling them scum and other negative words. Percy also was prejudice towards John because of his African American heritage and his height considering Percy was a small man. Analysis Of Luria And Rubin ( 1974 ) Introduction Subject investigated: Gender stereotypes Details and aim of replicated study: Luria and Rubin (1974) Background literature: Previous studies about gender stereotypes enforced on people include; Effect of infant s perceived gender on adolescents ratings of the infant by Degelman, Dvorak, and Homutoff and Cowan (1983). These studies highlight feminine and masculine traits. They ask middle school students to rate a baby on each of those traits. Rationale: Our group decided to examine the differences in how boys and girls are described. We used a baby, whose gender is not mentioned, as the control. We knew that specific sets of expectations based on gender are enforced at a young age. We thought adjectives used to describe a baby could highlight stereotypical gender roles. Aim / Hypothesis: We believe it is more likely for the baby to be described based on appearance when told it is a girl and when told it is a boy to be described based on their potential and whether they looked smart . Our aim is to highlight the differences between males and females using stereotypical gender roles. Method Design: 15 students were each asked the same question, could you tell us 5 words or phrases that describe this baby? . 5 were told it was a girl, 5 were told it was a boy, and 5 weren t told a gender. Gleditsch asks the question if democracies really do keep the peace and he found out that they try to but also sometimes have problems within their own house (Gleditsch 289). This could explain why rebellions within a country usually win because the government is torn if they should quiet the rebellion or concede because they do not want to be thrown out of office. Shouldn t leave the football with a passionate fan: Democratic Peace Theory cannot work as a solution for unsuccessful talks when it comes to foreign policy because when deciding if democracies should go to war with one another, having the citizens decide is bad because the average person does not think rationally, they think emotionally which leads to more problems. Take the Cold War of the United States against the USSR as an example of how emotions almost destroyed two nations. As stated previously, the sun is connected to positive imagery through analogy and simile. The use of analogy and simile in the description of the children s dreaming further shows how the children have no context or experience with the thing itself and can only dream of vague likenesses of the object of their desire. The children dimly know the sun exists and subconsciously remember it as they dream each night, making it representative of something they hope for and desire greatly. At the climax of the story, the sun comes out and the children come to life. The setting is now alive and full of vibrance. [The sun] was the color of flaming bronze, and it was very large. And the sky around it was a blazing blue tile color. And the jungle burned with sunlight as the children, released from their spell, rushed out, yelling into the springtime (Bradbury 3). The identity of a woman changed drastically as a result of growing political and diplomatic tensions in many countries throughout World War II. In the beginning, most women were content with fulfilling the suburban housewife role. Then, partially due to their necessity, and partially do to society s role of evolution, women became the key to a functioning society. No longer were women seen as the weak link in society; they finally had a purpose other than being a housewife. Peet says Mechanization raises the surplus exploitable by the owners of the means of production by increasing the productivity of labor, and thus increases the capital available for reinvestment in more machinery, facilities, and raw materials (566). This means that as economic development takes place, the relative demand for labor falls because mechanization provides and faster and more efficient means of production. Production costs become more and more the costs of depreciating machinery and less and less the costs of hiring labor as machines are increasingly used to increase capital. As mechanization proceeds, unemployment increases and a labor reserve army is created. Under capitalism, economic development does not proceed smoothly. There are sudden bursts of expansion and even old declining industries bloom during economic booms. Peet says In such a situation the economy needs a quick transfusion of labor; a labor reserve is necessary, to be pulled into the labor force when needed, and discharged just as rapidly when demand slackens or mechanization proceeds (567). In other words, the labor reserve prevents surplus value from being diverted from capital accumulation to labor; thus, serving its role under capitalism. The Marxist argument, therefore, is that inequality is not a temporary aberation nor poverty a surprising paradox in advanced capitalist societies: instead inequality and poverty are vital to the normal operation of ...
