United Parcel Service ( Ups )
United Parcel Service (UPS) is a U.S. based company that specializes in international package
delivery. The company was developed from a small messenger service which was created in Seattle in
1907 (Brewster Dalzell, 2007). A 19 year old man called James E. Casey, together with his friend
Claude Ryan, established the messenger service with only two bicycles, a phone within a small office
in a basement, and $100 which were borrowed from Ryan s uncle. From this messenger service, the
two young men laid the foundation for the growth of an international multi billion dollar organization
which is involved in the worldwide movement of goods, finances, and general information (Brewster
Dalzell, 2007). From its inception, UPS has grown to be the world s biggest parcel delivery company.
It is estimated that the Atlanta based company delivers approximately three billion items in more than
two hundred countries and territories per annum. The company owns an enormous fleet of vehicles,
approximately around 88,000 in total. Also, UPS owns and operates the 9th largest airline business in
North America. In regards to this, it has about 600 aircraft which are company owned and chartered
(Brewster Dalzell, 2007). The global penetration of UPS has been observed to be gradually increasing
raising its market share in many countries. However, the company s U.S. operations have made the
most significant impact on the overall business transactions. It has employed a door to door delivery

Cyber Terrorism
In 1999, Chinese hackers targeted United States government sites, after an accidental bombing of a
Chinese embassy in Belgrade. During this attack, government sites were hijacked and some sites
suffered a denial of service attack. Most recently, it was suspected that Bank of America was the
victim of a cyber terrorism attack; although no definitive evidence is available to substantiate that
claim. Cyber terror attacks pose a threat against the national security of the United States. In order to
fully comprehend the threat that cyber terrorism poses, it is essential to understand the background,
the effects, the reality of the threat and the future of cyber terrorism. This assessment examines the
reality of the cyber terrorism threat, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, terrorists will strive to improve their cyber terror attack capabilities by keeping pace with
the emerging technologies and overcoming countermeasures.
Many computer security experts question the possibility that the Internet could be used to inflict death
on a large scale. Some precautions have been made. Systems have been established in the last five
years, which aim at preventing a possible cyber terrorism attack. Air gapping has been established on
all nuclear weapons, meaning the weapons are not connected to the Internet or any open computer
network and cannot be accessed by intruders or terrorists. Still, other areas of concern include
subways, gas lines, power grids and communication systems; which are owned primarily by the
private sector and are managed by Internet enabled computer systems.
Reality of a Cyber Terror Attack
Malicious cyber activity is occurring more frequently and with unexpected complexity. In mid
December of 2009, Google experienced a highly sophisticated and targeted attack which originated in
China on its search engine infrastructure and e mail, as well as on at least 20 other companies.
Attacks are occurring within the United States, as well. Attacks on government networks are
omnipresent. In 2008, NASA and other departments of Defense, Homeland Security and Commerce
suffered major intrusions by unknown foreign entities which

Analysis Of Diane Riva s Exposed Toes
In the text Exposed Toes the author, Diane Riva, reflects on her collection of shoes and how each pair
has a meaning to her. She describes how each pair of shoe she owns relates to a specific memory or
time period in her life. She asserts that shoes can tell stories of our lives and are not just an article of
clothing that we wear on our feet. Riva goes through all the shoes she owns and explains their story
and how the shoe is a part of her life. For example, she brings up her black sneakers which are worn
when we works at a bar. She states, they are constant recipients of the over filled glass of alcohol.
From this we learn her profession and get some insight on her memories as a bartender. Riva talks
about all of her shoes in this manner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the entire text, multiple examples of flashback are used in order for the audience to view
Riva s past experiences. She gave an example of flashing back to one cold November day to pick up
her paycheck while wearing her huaraches. Due to this flashback, we get a little glimpse of a story that
happened as the author was wearing her huarache shoes. By using a flashback, it is an attempt by the
author to make the audience relate to her situation. It also allows the reader to fully understand the
context of the given argument by hearing about events that took place prior to argument at hand.
Flashbacks within a text allow for great effectiveness because they entice the audience and make
current arguments more clear given an

Computer Science Reflection
My undergraduate major is measurement, and I have spent the last three years learning about optics,
mechanics, electric circuits, and coding. Among those courses, and following three years of training
including pieces of research and coursework, I have realized that I am enamored with coding the most.
First of all, I enjoy the process of coding and verifying and adjusting the program. Taking my digital
signal processor coursework as an example, after I finished writing the code, it appeared that the code
might not have been correct because I could not receive the right temperature. So I set the program to
a debug mode and run every single step of my code and observed the feedback value. This was a very
diversion for me. With the criticism comes about because of single step investigating, I made a couple
of theories about the issue, for example, the time postponed is not sufficiently exact, or I might be
coding about the wrong sticks. So I checked these hypotheses one by one, and for reasons unknown,
the issue is the piece of my program concerning time deferring because the segment I used to quantify
temperature which is DS18B20 is extremely strict on timing arrangement. Getting the right outcome is
exceptionally fulfilling, so is the procedure because through speculation autonomously I procure much
involvement and capability. Another thing that intrigues me regarding computer science comes from
what I have learned through our research requirement in theory and technology

Who Shall Control Our Schools Summary
In the 1920s, there was a great debate over the changing of values in America. The jazz age had
erupted and with it, came new debates over what is best for the United States and it s children.
America was in a crisis, fighting between its victorian history and the new world of advertisement and
propaganda. One of the great debates during this time, was whether or not evolution should be taught
in public schools. The difference in ideals between the conservatives and those who were modern was
large. Most matters at this time had to do with the difference between church and state laws. Evolution
and creationism were two of the biggest issues brought up between state and church. In an effort to
keep evolution out of schools, the Butler Act was put into place on March 23rd, 1925. The Butler Act
was a law in Tennessee that made it illegal for public schools to teach evolution. The most famous
challenge of the Butler Act was during the Scopes Trial in July 1925. In this trial, the state of

In his essay, Who Shall Control our Schools? , Bryan opens up and shares his thoughts on the
materials taught in schools and who should decide what is taught. Bryan examines the sources of
information in this essay but specifically examines the role of teachers. I quote, Professor Scopes has
raised a question of the very first magnitude and the ones most likely to suffer by the raising of the
issue are those who think they can ignore the right of the people to have what they want in
government, including the kind of education they want (192). Bryan perfectly shares the thoughts of
most people during this time. The idea that government is becoming too victorian and needs to change
based on what the people want, this is the same in education. This is important because it shows the
conflict in Bryan s head over religion and

An Article About Plasmodium Knowlesi
This article discusses Plasmodium knowlesi, a malarial parasite that is commonly found in primates
such as long tailed and pig tailed macaques usually found in Southern Asia. Until 2004 the natural
acquirement in humans was thought to be exceptionally rare until a sizeable number of human
infections were reported in Sarawak, a small town in Malaysia.
Human infections have since been reported throughout the South east of Asia, Northern Asia, Papua
New Guinea and recently in northern Queensland. P. knowlesi is now considered by the World Health
Organisation as the fifth species of Plasmodium causing malaria in humans.
Infections with in the human race went undiagnosed until the molecular detection methods that were

In Australia paramedics are exposed to numerous diseases, illnesses and parasitic infections through
travelers returning home or visiting Australia, animals and the tropical environment. The symptoms of
acute knowlesi are similar to those of Malaria falciparum and Malaria vivax. They include Fevers, and
chills, being the most prevalent in addition headaches, myalgia/arthralgia, and poor appetite are very
common side effects. In new research described by Cox Singh et al, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal
symptoms, and diarrhea were all present in fatal cases that could have been prevented if the quick
recognition of the infection was achieved by treating medical professionals. As the scope of paramedic
practice is growing exponentially the knowledge of such clinical presentations could result in faster
diagnosis, and treatment if presented with the infection.
This article covers the present education and knowledge of the clinical presentation, diagnosis,
treatment, pathogenesis, and epidemiology of P. knowlesi malaria but unfortunately has only been
drawn from a small number of clinical case reports, both and moderately limited field studies. The
data collected indicates that P.knowlesi malaria is primarily categorized as a zoonotic disease with
primates as the major hosts, mainly long and short tailed macaques. Furthermore, the research
gathered shows that even though P.knowlesi infections

(Porter 1980s, 1985 David B, Management, Prentice Hall, 3rd Edition 2005) The ability of a firm to

in their immediate business The objective of this script is to critically study the Wal mart five force
analyses. These five forces are the ability of potential competitors, the threat of new products, the
buying power of consumer, and finally the bargaining strategies of suppliers. The threat of
Competitors The most visible threat in the retail business across the United State is Competition. The
quality of competition in the U S as a sub region has significant influences on business within its
borders, and these are due to the following factors; technological, economic, social and political
factors. Wal Mart is directly faced with competitors like K mart, Target, Winco, Albertsons and
wholesale retailers like Costco. The threat form is slightly different in scale putting into account the
span of business activities and ability to match dominant actors. Wal Mart`s price low cost and
discount strategies often leaves less room for competition from small firms in the business and it takes
the likes of Target and K Mart to follow suit in the low cost price strategy. The level of threat is
medium given the resource available, brand awareness, service strategies, economies of scale, and the

Amin In Uganda Research Paper
Idi Amin rose to power in 1971 through a violent military coup. Amin and his army successfully
overthrew Uganda s former president Milton Obote with the foreign aid from both the British and
Israeli Government. From the British Amin received aid through large amounts of money being sent to
his personal bank account and from the Israelis he received arms. Amin s success at gaining and
holding power was largely based on foreign assistance. Amin s regime survived as long as it did in
part because it always found one or another imperialist power to patronise it (Fall of Idi Amin 1).
Alone, Amin would never of had enough resources or internal support to retain power because of both
external and internal resistance. This resistance came from the ... Show more content on

The economic embargo that was instituted as well as the negative perception around Amin caused
Uganda to fail economically and to have no foreign powers want to help because they did not want to
be seen as supporting a cruel leader. Amin s brutal regime caused countries to look down at Uganda as
a place that was uncivilized and that was not worth any ones time. Through all Amin s missteps and
failures his inability to run a successful country without foreign support was his biggest weakness. He
was not able to have good relations with countries either because of rash decisions which offended
those countries or because of bad public image led to a country to weak to sustain itself. Amin s final
attack on Tanzania was a failure and he was forced to leave Uganda and seek refuge in Saudi Arabia
for the rest of his life. In the span of eight years, Amin had devastated Uganda. The economy was in
ruins, foreign trade had dried up, and the country had fallen into a state of lawlessness and brutality
(Idi Amin 1). The rule of Idi Amin was characterized by brutality and instability which caused foreign

Suicide -A Serious Issue
Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because
of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out.
Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they
succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure
themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is
probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for
disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is
the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of
thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is
money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our
text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of
nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and
everyday it will get worst, until the worst of all happends. This was said by philosophers
Schopenhauer s father. Schopenhauer s father was believed to have committed suicide, although he
was a wealthy man. Schopenhauer s father made sure to leave a fortune for his seventeen year old

The Wedding Of Ursula Essay
When telling the story of Ursula s childhood, Lawrence tells us early on that, Ursula was the one for
realities. (259). From this point it is apparent that her story is going to be different. While she relies on
the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind body conscious
self is just as active as Tom or Anna s. In fact, it may be even stronger for her because she seems to be
more aware of it: She became aware of herself, that she was a separate entity in the midst of an
unseparated obscurity, that she must go somewhere, she must become something. (Lawrence 281).
She has her first experience with love at an early age, when she encounters Anton Skrebensky. At one
point during their courtship, Anton comes to the wedding of Ursula s uncle, Fred, and Ursula has a
very distinct experience similar to the one her mother Anna had in the cornfield. At the touch of her

Disney s Influence On Disney
Disney has been around for many generations of people s lives and has had a true impact on most of
society, but now Disney is slowly straying away from the true purpose that they have built all of their
old work upon. No longer is Disney focused on being a magical company, but more of one that has the
most power in the world, which they have already been able to achieve. Disney now appears to be
profit hungry by producing films that relate to society rather than inspire it, or repeat an old animation
film through live action, i.e. Cinderella. Society s influence on Disney became so grand, with the
demands of more feminist movies, different ethnicities, etc. that Disney decided to please society.
Disney now is meeting these demands with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While these perspectives have well thought ideas, from my view point, Disney is straying away from
being magical to slowly transforming into becoming a people pleasing company. All of this helps
them gain more profit and creates greed/lust for more.
Disney has been alive through many generations. As people age, the mind s thought process changes.
Due to this, it is said that people grow out of old interests, which some put Disney into this. Instead of
Disney being the one to change, it is the older generations. Disney supposedly aims for a certain age
group. In a journal by Towbin, children are discussed towards the beginning because Disney is known
to have a huge influence on them through media because media is how they learn now a days and
Disney takes a part in shaping their future. That is where the argument appears about Disney not
changing because if they truly changed, the children would not enjoy the films as much as they do
already, always wanting to be a certain Disney princess or another character. Adults have already
found their passion, how to function and go through life, this being said, the Disney films are just
there for the adults to watch for entertainment if wished, and if not, it was intended for a child to begin
with. Others believe Disney has changed their purpose of their work, but for the better. The shell of
stereotypes are broken within the films, and the

Bourgeoisie And Industrialism
In the wood carvings created in 1846, two separate images depict a model welfare institution for
orphaned girls and boys in Germany during the early years of industrialization. Both images portray a
glorified view of the Bourgeoisie, who were owners of the means of production, and the Proletariat,
members of the working class. These two social classes propelled the Industrial Revolution in Europe.
The two images titled Orphaned Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution, present an idealized situation
of the Industrial Revolution and argue that the Bourgeoisie depended on the labor of the Proletariat for
economic prosperity and survival.
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the early nineteenth century when demand for iron

Members of the Proletariat became forced to sell their manual labor to the Bourgeoisie to live. The
Bourgeoisie and Proletariat worked closely together but quickly developed a one sided relationship
with the Bourgeoisie controlling work hours and wages.
The first of the two carvings, titled Orphaned Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution, claim it was
vital for young girls during the Industrial Revolution to learn how to sew correctly. The Industrial
Revolution called upon every man and woman to produce material goods. To maximize production,
the Bourgeoisie became forced to increase their labor force and had to teach young girls necessary
trade skills. In the orphanage, some girls seem confused and do not know how to sew because they are
staying away from their work (Image 1). The Bourgeoisie are unable to gain economic wealth when
members of their labor force were unable to assemble a product or material correctly. Additionally, in
the far right corner of the image, the leader of the orphanage punished a girl, yet she still sews (Image
1), which indicates that even though the girl committed an egregious act, the Bourgeoisie still
depended on her labor because they still needed to meet the daily quota.
Marxism agrees with the argument made by the first image: the Bourgeoisie depending on the labor of
the Proletariat for economic survival.

The Importance Of The Conversion Of Lower Energy Light
Upconversion is a term that characterizes the conversion of lower energy light, particularly in the near
infrared region, into higher energy light within the visible spectrum. This occurs through a process in
which the sequential absorption of multi photon near infrared light yields the emission of light that is
of shorter wavelength[1]. This process is represented in Figure 1, which shows the emissions of light
within the visible spectrum after excitation of various dopant ions by near infrared light[1]. The
upconversion effect has been observed primarily in the rare earth metals of the lanthanides as well as
yttrium, and scandium; however, some transition metals and actinides can also display this effect[2].
Lanthanide ions display special inner shell arrangements of 4fn 5d0 1, which allow for unique energy
levels and provide shielding from the outer shells[2]. Due to their various f orbital configurations,
lanthanide ions are able to display very sharp luminescence emissions via intra 4f or 4f 4d
transitions[2,3]. The importance of the lanthanide ions is evident in several applications including
applications in lasers, bioprobe applications, optical imaging, and photodynamic therapy [2,3]. This is
due to their fluorescent properties, which include: resistance to photobleaching, monochromaticity,
large Stokes shifts, narrow bandwidth, and long emission lifetime[2,3]. The direct excitation of the
lanthanide ions is not very effective because they are limited by low

Christian Themes In Pop Culture
It is hard to imagine that movies, music, art, literature and other aspects of pop culture are influenced
by different themes in Christianity. Whether it is Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia sacrificing
himself to save his kingdom; or Harry Potter defending the wizard and muggle world from the
devilish Lord Voldemort; or Superman possessing God like powers; or Gandalf the Grey from The
Lord of the Rings bringing together a fellowship of men, elves and dwarves through his prophetic and
benign character, one can find many connections in different films to aspects of the Christian faith.

redeem his father by turning him back to light side. In a duel on the second Death Star, Luke and

Sidious attempts to kill Luke by electrocuting him. Moved by his son s faith and love, Vader destroys

his son, Anakin becomes one with the Force. In reference to Christianity, the events that occur during
Luke s altercations with Vader on the second Death Star relate to Jesus s sacrifice to save humanity.
Sidious is sin and Luke is the human race. Sin was destroying humanity until Darth Vader, who is
Jesus in this case, destroys sin. Vader sacrifices himself in order to save his son. Vader s sacrifice

Artists Are Culturally Creators
In my opinion, artists are simply creators. Artists create things that are reflections of their psyche,
society at large, or anything that comes to mind. Given that the inspiration for an artist s work can be
so varied and diverse, I think it s hard to say that artists have a social responsibility given that some
artists work don t necessarily convey or reflect the feelings or ideals of the greater bulk of society.
Artistic expression is important and as soon as society begins to police or restrict the ability of an
artist to express his or herself, I think we re moving into dangerous territory as a culture. With that
said, I don t think artists should be held accountable for the work they produce. Artists should be

How Did The Provinces Affect The Roman Economy
How the provinces affected general Roman economy? The Roman economy under the empire
depended heavily on agriculture, trade, and mining. The provinces which produce those had a great
effect on the general Roman economy. This week s topic is to do list the effects that provinces had on
the general Roman economy. In the city, the top ranks enjoyed luxury life. They consumed luxury
goods. Romans who are citizens, women and children, freedmen, and slaves did trading corn, olive
oil, wine, precious metals even slaves. They used water through aqueducts. They built roads,
buildings, and bridges and repair aqueducts. They made coins and used. Romans did economic
activities, and the provinces supported those kinds of activities. In the provinces, farmers grew crops
such as wheat, olives, and grapes. The provinces such as Egypt, Sicily, and Tunisia were the
processing provinces of grain forward Rome via Ostia. Olive oil and wine were among the most
important product for making food for Romans as well as the ancient civilized world. Farmers in
provinces donated surplus crops to the Roman government instead of a tax burden. This could be a
free grain distribution grain dole to the poor. The need to secure grain provided by provinces was
important to the Roman government that would lead to expanding of the Roman Empire. However, it
hurt the yield of production because the provinces would pay more taxes if they produce more.

Bartleby Personality
Before the advent of Bartleby, the lawyer was only concerned with himself. The lawyer s ego is
revealed when he writes, it is fit I make some mention of myself, my employees, my business, my
chambers, and general surroundings (Melville 1). The repetition of the word my is unnecessary, but
the lawyer is so self centered that he finds it imperative to label and claim everything as his
possession. The lawyer s self interest is so overly developed that he is completely incurious of the
world and the people around him. In his final summation of his employee he remarks, But with all his
failings, and the annoyances he caused me, Nippers, like his compatriot Turkey, was a very useful man
to me (Melville 2). The individual qualities of his employees that make them more than just copying
machines are considered failings and annoyances. Other people serve no purpose besides their
usefulness to him.
At first the lawyer attempts to make Bartleby like his other employees. He focuses on the positives of
Bartleby s personality and decides that those attributes made him a valuable acquisition (Melville 7).
The lawyer tries to turn Bartleby into a possession that is defined by his purpose to him. However,
Bartleby remains an incurable enigma with his mantra I would prefer not to and forces the lawyer to
seek knowledge about someone else for the first time. When the lawyer discovers that Bartleby has
been living in his office, he begins to muse on the loneliness of Bartleby:

Margaret Atwood
Happy Ending by Margaret Atwood is a truly unique story. This story is unique not because of the
dialog, but because of the multiple endings that are within the story. The story follows the life of John
and Mary. It is up to the reader to decide the life that John and Mary live. The reader can determine
whether or not John and Mary have a happy life together or a complicated life together. However, no
madder what choice the reader may chose, the story always ends the same way. Each of the endings
results in death. In story A John and Mary fall in love. They both have a happy career in which they
find it both challenging and stimulating. However, story B is quite the opposite. Mary is very much in

It is true that both John and Mary fall in love and enter symbiotic relationship. However, just because
the reader gets a cookie cutter happy ending that doesn t necessarily mean that it is the best ending.
For instance, story A, the happy ending, is very short compared to the other stories. It dose not give
the reader enough time to form a connection to the characters before they die. While on the other
hand, story B, the sadder ending, is much longer and gives the reader a connection to the character
Mary.
Story B is the sadder ending and focuses more on Mary. The relationship between Mary and John is
far from happy. Mary does absolutely everything for John. Mary cooks, cleans, and even lets john
have his way with her. John doesn t even acknowledge all the sacrifice that Mary puts into their
relationship. Not only dose John show no affection towards Mary, He gives it all his affection to
another woman he sees behind Mary s back. The drama of the whole situation is too much to bear for
Mary. Mary devises a plan to overdose on all of her household medicine and have John take her to the
hospital. Sadly John doesn t even care enough to take her to the hospital. Margaret Atwood did a
fantastic job on making a fiction story with fiction characters seem like an actual

Alex Rider Monologue Analysis
Have you ever been in a situation where you know something is the wrong thing to do but you do it
anyways even though there could be severe consequences? That is the position Alex Rider is put in. In
this journal I will be questioning, predicting, characterizing, and evaluating.
In the rest of my book Mr. Blunt had tried to convince Alex to turn against M16 and take them down.
Alex had just found out that Scorpia had put a poison into vaccines that was supposed to help fight
against yellow fever, but when the poison got put in it had started killing people. M16 is trying to
allure Alex back to the good side by telling him how much they need him: The organization knows
that you are above all of this (Horowitz 311). Alex comes back to M16 and he is very nervous so he

Why did Scorpia put poison in the vaccines for yellow fever? I think they did it because when people
start dying they can say it was us who did it. Just so other countries will be more afraid of them and
what else they might do in the future that other countries could prepare for. I also presume that Scorpia
did it for power they wanted everyone to know that they are the most fearsome. My following
question is why did Alex want to join Rothman? My response to that is Alex wanted to be one of the
leaders of Scorpia. I also conceive that Alex wants to be on the good side of her because if he is on her
bad side he could get killed. I also believe that Alex wants to join Rothman so that he can be one of
the leaders and that way he can try to take down Scorpia. My last question is why did Alex decide to
go back to M16? I think that Alex went back because he knows deep down inside that that is not who
he is: Alex had felt My next reason is that a weird feeling deep down inside (Horowitz 354). My last
reason is I think Alex went back to M16 because he had a feeling that Scorpia was lying and that his

Becoming A Store Manager For Big O Tire Essay
In 2007, I was a mortgage originator and after the fall of the mortgage market I decided to make my
way back to the automotive world by becoming a store manager for Big O Tire. I was a store manager
for Evans Tire in the past and I knew that I could generate enough income to support my family
managing a service center again. I have seen a lot of automobiles come through the service bay doors
throughout the years with long overdue vehicle maintenance. One group of vehicle owners seems to
be the worst defenders of them all. The way BMW owners neglect their prized possession is an
incredibly deplorable act. I remembered having to explain to these narcissistic vehicle owners why
they needed to pay extra money for synthetic oil and how skipping it just this once would not be okay.
One gentlemen in particular used to put his dirty engine air filter in front of his beaming headlights
and would love to look to see if the light would shine through. It passed the test put it back! He used to
say every time with such passion. Of course, he thought he was saving money on frivolous air filters,
not thinking of the hidden cost of his fuel mileage. The majority of Americans have a vast problem
with the over consumption of fuel while over paying at the pump. It s not just buying the correct grade
gasoline at the pump that needs to be addressed, the desire to increase the miles per gallon on the
vehicles we drive is also important. The average American does not seem to make

workplace but I feel the company is slacking with giving the information or expectations of the code
to the employees. If the company doesn t provide the knowledge and training really necessary to work
by the company s code of ethics then what is the point of having one?
In conclusion The Home Depot mission statement and code of ethics were relatively good and the
company does walk the talk they are giving out. With Burger King the company s mission statement
follows their main goal but I feel they are slacking with the code of ethics and not exposing the

Throughout the research interview, I was aware that it was essential for me to respect the participant. I
was also aware of the power imbalance embedded throught the research process between myself and
the participant, from research topic design to the interpretation of the data and the need for ethical
consideration(Caswell, 2007, Wash, 2007 and Daley, 2007). In addressing the importance of research
ethics, Caswell states we must consider ethical considerations involving our roles as insiders/outsiders
( Caswell, p.156). Therefore, it was important for me to tell the participant about her rights to
participate in the research interview, the benefits, the potential risk and the informed consent. For
example, before I interviewed the participant, we reviewed the informed consent and when I asked if
she understood it, she reported, I do , that it was straight forward and that she would definitely

can impact the interview, the data and the intereptation of the data( Caswell, 2007).It was important
for me to be transparent and maintained a good rapport with the participant.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Psychological Disorders
A psychological disorder is defined as a behavior that exhibits a collection of symptoms that cause
stress and/or disability to an individual. These disorders can range from alcohol and substance abuse
to Alzhiemer s and schizophrenia. Studies show that about 46% of the United States population suffers
from a mental disorder some time in their life. There are many forms of treatment available, as the
effects of these disorders cause distress and suffering not only to the individual, but for those around
them too. The two main forms of treatment are biomedical therapy and verbal therapy. Biomedical
therapies are medicinal drugs administered to a patient by a psychiatrist. Verbal therapies are talk
sessions that a patient has with a psychologist. The prescription of drugs is the most common type of
treatment in resolving psychological disorders. Based on a study done by the National Center for
Health Statistics, the usage of psychiatric drugs, more specifically antidepressant drugs, went up 400%
in the span of just twenty years. This may be because medications are seen as an answer to people s
prayers. People think that they re fast and they ll cure anything and everything, making people feel
normal again. Therapy could be quite expensive when compared to medication, making individuals
choose drugs over therapy. Another reason for more people wanting to use medication could be that
there are many commercials on TV and on the radio advocating for medicinal drug usage, but

The Most Popular Country Music
FAMOUS MUSICIANS AND BANDS THAT TURNED COUNTRY
Music is food to the soul
Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don t really understand the language
that you re making music in, they appreciate and know good music when they hear it. Lou Rawls was
absolutely correct when he pointed this out. Regardless where and from whom it comes from, good
music is good music and anyone can appreciate that. With any genre of music, musicians aim at
stirring a mysterious feeling with their songs. They all hope for a positive reaction from their listeners
and fans. Over the years however, musicians have continued to switch from one genre to another.
Most feel that they need to unleash their full potential and be comfortable while doing it.

Herman Melville s Story, Bartleby, the Scrivener Essay
In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby, the Scrivener, the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby is
constantly changing, the narrator s attitude is conveyed through the author s use of literary elements
such as; diction descriptive and comical, point of view first person, and tone confusion and sadness.
One of the literary elements that Melville uses that convey the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby is
diction. The author s diction in this short story is very descriptive and is also slightly comical. One of
the ways this is used is when the author gently mocks the narrator by having him expose his flaws
through his own words. For example, when the narrator talks of John Jacob Astor, a well respected
man who complemented him, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diction is just one of the literary elements used in this short story which convey the narrator s attitude
towards Bartleby. Another literary element that is used to convey the narrator s attitude towards
Bartleby is through point of view. In Bartleby, the Scrivener the point of view that is used is that of
first person narration. By Melville s use of first person narration it allows us to get close to Bartleby
but still be confused and in awe of him and since we see him through the eyes of his employer we can
quickly identify with the narrator s confusing feelings over Bartleby. An example of this appears on
page 127 in paragraph 6; I sat awhile in perfect silence, rallying my stunned faculties. Immediately it
occurred to me that my ears had deceived me, or Bartleby had entirely misunderstood my meaning. I
repeated my request in the clearest tone I could assume; but in quite as clear a one came the previous
reply, I would prefer not to. Here Bartleby has just refused orders from his boss who sits at his desk
stunned at wheat he has just heard. This is not the only time throughout the story in which Bartleby
does this and always with the same words; I would prefer not to which only frustrates and confuses
the narrator. Another contributor to the narrator s growing

become one of the censors. He moved up ranks until he finally saw his letter. Newly loyal to his job,
he turned himself in for what he wrote. His actions against his original wishes lead to his death. This

A few days later he married Eva, who was extremely influential in the later years. In 1946, Perón ran
in and won, the election for President. He emphasized industrialization. Perón used the term Third
Position to describe his position, what he felt was an authoritarian and populist system between
communism and capitalism. Perón, for various reasons, was liked by many people. He helped the
economy and made few enemies with the citizens of Argentina. The people absolutely adored Evita,
which helped Perón in his elections and in staying in office. Overall, Juan Perón and his Perónists
provided a government that Argentina needed. In the preceding paragraph, the details brought out
mainly contain information about Perón s first term. During his second term, Perón was liked by the
majority of the people, a contributing factor this time including his efforts to keep his opposition quiet.
Those who opposed him would be arrested, some tortured, even some killed. He closed their press,
took their leaders and persecuted many of them, others being exiled. This is part of what I feel the
Censors is based on. This was a time when many things were regulated. Before the end of his second
term, Perón was ousted from Argentina and placed into exile. He spent his exile in Paraguay first, then
Venezuela, Panama, and the Dominican Republic before settling in Spain. Meanwhile, in Argentina,
the new government took many efforts to have the people forget about Perón. They

Depression And Depression In The Scarlet Letter By...
It will take over every thought, control one s very being until they truly believe they are hopeless,
broken, and undeserving of even the most basic comforts. It will drain the very soul until there is no
spirit left in a person. Everyone will experience it at least once in their lifetime, whether it s from a
close family death or a disfiguration of the mind. It does not discriminate race, gender, religion or
profession; it is depression. The symptoms of depression often seen in people are self harm, feelings
of guilt, worsening health, unshakeable sadness, interrupted sleep patterns, distancing one s self from
everything, and a lack a hope. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne can be read as a
psychological novel in which the characters, Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale, have different
experiences with depression. First of all, the way depression affects an individual from The Scarlet
Letter is through the events of self harm. Depression is often a leading cause of self harm. Studies in
depression have shown several cases of self harm, most often caused by the fact that people either
enjoy the pain, feel as though they deserve to undergo it, or they feel as though it is the only way they
can control the pain in their lives. These feelings translate directly into The Scarlet Letter through
Dimmesdale. After committing adultery with Hester, he feels as though his previous actions have
taken away all personal value he holds. His beliefs at the time are that he must

Understanding Jesus
P1. Jesus touchs each of our lives in different ways, his desire for each of us is to know who He
is.Though Jesus would love for each of us to have an insightful persecutive of who he is, the reality is
the perspectives from individuals very. Jesus does not pressure the dynamics of having him as the
ultimate source of our lives, despite the fact he awaits upon us all to proactively invite him into our
lives. The wisdom we formulate around knowing who God is, will establish the characteristics of how
we portray Him. To demonstrate God s love, Jesus defended from the Father and worker toward his
hour, time of his suffering and death on behalf of the world. P.290 Our efforts of understanding who
Jesus is will determine the standards of how our faith with God will grow. Eventhough faith is a
significant element to the formulation of believing in Christ, proception, disarmament and impression
of Jesus is what will ultimately establish the formation of faith.

In reflecting on the encounter of the event of Matthew 16, I found it to be a significant moment of self
reflection. Looking back at the reality of my past proceptions of God, I now can see that my
discernment of knowing who Jesus was then was slim and it what caused unaware dimness to my
faith. I never seen Jesus as a fraud despite the passage of my spirituality, but I honestly didn t not
know who He was. It was not until 2009, when I started attending church that I truly realized that
Jesus was the Son of God. Over the years I have developed a relationship with Jesus Christ and today
I can stand firm in answering Matthew 16:13 20. Though the questions seem so simular, the truth is
these two questions divide the quality of where I choice to place my faith. The perspective,
disarmament and impression I built around who Jesus is will determine the dynamics of how I

Jumanji Movie Analysis
Have you ever seen the movie, Jumanji..... Well I haven t so i ll just talk about the book. The next
three paragraphs are gonna be about the tone of the book version of Jumanji. Since I didn t watch the
movie because I was sick. So, I m gonna try my best to elaborate the tone of the book for you. One of
the tones that I thought would suit the book, was exhilarating because there was a bunch of thrilling
things that happened in the book. One example of a thrilling thing that happened was when a lion
appeared above Peter and Judy was very scared and surprised. Also, another thrilling thing that
happened is that a bunch of monkeys appeared in the kitchen eating up all the food and destroying
utensils. Also a stampede of Rhinoceros came running

Genetically Modified Food And Drug Administration
A Fishy Modification The method by which food finds its way to our local grocer could soon change.
For the first time, the Unites States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering the approval
and release of genetically modified (GM) salmon into the American marketplace (Big Fish). Salmon,
of course, is just the brink of the biological possibilities. The possibility of the introduction of any GM
foods is monumental. Man s ability to increase the food supply guarantees major benefits;
nevertheless, modifying the earth s natural source of energy also promises detrimental consequences.
What is Genetically Modified Food (GM)? Genetically modified foods (GM) describes crops (and
most recently, animals) that have been enhanced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(GM Foods Harmful or Helpful). The Benefits of GM Food At first glance, the possibility an
enhanced food supply promises many possibilities. Generally, GM foods are thought to be the solution
the world hunger crisis. Today, the world s total population exceeds six billion humans and continues
to grow (Genetically Modified Foods: Harmful or Helpful?). In fact, the world population is predicted
to double in the next 50 years. (Genetically Modified Foods). Meeting this need will prove to be a
huge challenge, but research proves that GM food can ensure a food production schedule of 17% more
food than necessary for each human daily (Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Foods). However,
controlling hunger is not the only benefit of GM foods. Other benefits include: Pest resistance
Herbicide Tolerance Growing GM foods...can help eliminate the application of chemical pesticides
and reduce the cost of bringing a crop to market. (Genetically Modified Foods: Harmful or Helpful?)
Every year, farmers lose crops as a result of insects and other pests. These loses require farmers to
utilize pesticides when growing crops to ensure production. There have been more and more health
risks discovered from the consumption of foods treated with these chemicals.

The Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory
Conspiracy theories are everywhere. It seems that for every event in to have taken place in history,
there is a group of individuals saying that it is a government conspiracy. There are conspiracy theories
regarding the 9/11 attacks, presidential assassinations, Area 51, Jimmy Hoffa, the English crown and
Elvis. The list is endless. In this paper we are going to discuss the moon landing conspiracy.
Apparently there are people who believe the entire moon landing was a hoax. They believe that we did
not actually land on the moon, but produced the event in a movie studio so that we would be able to
beat Russia in the great Space Race . These people have taken all the evidence from the moon landing
and analyzed ever aspect and tried to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conspiracy theorists have also argued that there should have been a freshly gouged crater where the
lunar module s descent engine blasted into the lunar soil. However Bizony rebuffs this myth by
explaining that the powdery lunar soil was disturbed by the downward pointing jet of the exhaust, but
the thrust was not enough to create a crater in the topsoil, much less even be able to penetrate the hard
rocky substrate (Bizony, It was all a fake, right?, 2009). The website, moonlandinghoax.org explains
that the lunar module had six foot long landing probes under the foot pads and when they registered
contact the engines would stop firing and the module would fall gently the rest of the way (Moon
landing hoax). Since the engines stopped firing approximately six feet before landing, there was not
enough blast pressure to create a crater. The article stated that a firecracker would have more power
than the engines did after they ceased to fire (Moon landing hoax). The conspiracy theorists have even
gone as far to say that NASA even murdered astronauts in order to help keep this monumental hoax a
secret. One of these instances included the accidental deaths of three astronauts; Ed White, Roger
Chaffee, and Guss Grissom; that died in a fire while testing an Apollo spacecraft (Moon landing
hoax). After the fire, investigations went on and it was determined that the fire was attributed to a
wide range of lethal design and construction flaws in the

Ethical Issues In Saving Private Ryan
Robert Sconyers
HUMN 330
Module 5: Moral Issues in Film
Saving Private Ryan
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
February 08, 2017
Instructor: Dr. Sara Rogers
Saving Private Ryan is a film staged within World War II, during which an incredible mission to locate
and bring home Private Ryan is launched in behind enemy lines within Europe. The return of Private
Ryan is hoped to increase moral in the homeland and benefit combat efforts. Captain Miller is in
charge of the reluctant team tasked with the rescue mission of Private Ryan, not knowing where he is
at or if he is even alive. The company finally finds Private Ryan even after several enemy encounters
and finding another soldier named Private Ryan . Once Private Ryan is located they give him the news
that his three brothers were killed while fighting in the war. Private Ryan chooses not to go home and
continues to fight in the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His fear overcame him and he froze up resulting in failing to accomplish his duty as a soldier. Once
again, using deontological ethics, if the presence of a good will is what makes an action morally good,
regardless of its consequence (Rosenstand 2013, page 284). So, even though the Corporal was not able
to engage the enemy due to his fear overcoming him, he is still admirable for attempting to do the
right thing. Although the film Saving Private Ryan can be viewed through several moral views, overall
the film can be best viewed through the deontological ethics. The majority of the film is based off of
someone intending to do the right thing even when the consequences were high. The company had
duties to uphold as soldiers and they did what they had to in order to fulfill them. According to Kant,
humans usually know what they ought to do, and that is almost always the opposite of what they want
to do (Rosenstand 2013, page 285).

Race And Ethnicity Are Integral Parts Of America
Race and Ethnicity are integral parts of America. They are often used interchangeably. Race is
associated with biology. It is a socially and politically constructed category of individuals who are
assumed to share common inborn biological traits, such as bone structure, hair type, skin, or eye color.
These distinctions have been used to the detriment or advantage of American groups over time.
Whereas ethnicity is associated with culture factors. It is often tied to nationality of origin and
characterized by a person s ethnic traits, customs, and/or associations. Race and ethnicity in some
ways go hand in hand and in other ways differ. Although the similarities are not quite the same they
still have the same concept. Today s society plays a huge role in defining these terms.
Humans have been separated into biological races. Although all humans belong to the same species,
there are minor genetic differences around the world that generate distinct physical appearances, such
as variations in skin color. There was a time when religion, social status, and language were more
important than physical appearances. The term race, with ambiguous meaning, has transformed over
time. It is not solely based on genetics and how people look on the outside. It is simply a
categorization created by the people of American society. Race is more of a contemporary idea that
developed out of certain historical circumstances. The historical meaning of race is an immutable and
distinct species,

How Toys Play A Role On Gender Socialization
Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. Toys are
a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for one gender and are
unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys play a role in gender socialization, I made a trip to Toys
R Us in College Station and was surprised by how the store was organized. The first thing that went
through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that would
indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys R Us had
their aisles organized by categories such as Arts Crafts, Travel Systems, Learning Education, Bikes
Wheels, Sports, and Fun. In order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This indicated that cars are for boys and thus shouldn t be what peaks girls interest. The gender neutral
toys on the other hand were marketed less boldly. These toys were more about creating and learning.
They consisted of puzzles and board games for the most part. The colors were a wide range and if
there were pictures there would usually be both boys and girls playing together. By looking through
each aisle, I was able to determine what toys were presented for each age specific gender. The infant
and toddler toys started off with not much difference and were gender neutral for the most part. They
were even in the same aisle. The toys were generally plush animals, entertainment puzzles, and simple
objects. As the ages moved up to pre school there was more difference in what toys were for boys and
what toys were for girls. The toys for boys were more vehicles while the girl toys were more play
scenarios. This fit the description given in the textbook that, by the time they are 12 to 18 months old,
girls prefer...dolls, cooking sets, dress up clothes, and soft toys, whereas boys choose vehicles, sports
equipment, and tools (Etaugh Bridges p 77). Though the toys were varied, they still remained in the
same aisle. The major separation of girl and boy toys began with the young school age kids. The girls
section was focused on dress up, Barbies, and My Little Pony, whereas the boys

Speech About Love Parents
Have you ever put yourself in your parents shoes and thought about how they felt towards their kids?
Sometimes it s hard for kids to understand the type of love parents have for them. The way my parents
have loved and cared for me has been one of the things that have changed my life for the better. A few
years ago I didn t believe in having to get told what to do. I wanted to make my own rules and go by
what I said. I wanted to be by myself and do my own thing but at that time it felt impossible.
While growing up I felt trapped, alone, and confused. I felt like I didn t have any support from them.
Acceptance and approval was all I wished for from my parents. Neither was given and at that point I
felt lost.
During those times I was hanging out with the wrong crowd. It wasn t until something bad happened
that I understood what I was doing. Maybe I did know what I was doing but didn t bother to actually
realize. Not only did I harm myself but also those who loved and cared for me.
Sometimes the person that says they love you the most turn out to be the ones to hurt you. I don t
remember much it all happened quickly. That night seemed like the worst. I was driven to this point by
the person who promised never to hurt me. She texted me saying she wanted to break up. A lot went
through my mind at that point. I felt like my world was caving in on me. It hurt so bad I didn t know
what to do. Not only did that happen but I had gotten bad news from my sister her dad had

  • 2. United Parcel Service ( Ups ) United Parcel Service (UPS) is a U.S. based company that specializes in international package delivery. The company was developed from a small messenger service which was created in Seattle in 1907 (Brewster Dalzell, 2007). A 19 year old man called James E. Casey, together with his friend Claude Ryan, established the messenger service with only two bicycles, a phone within a small office in a basement, and $100 which were borrowed from Ryan s uncle. From this messenger service, the two young men laid the foundation for the growth of an international multi billion dollar organization which is involved in the worldwide movement of goods, finances, and general information (Brewster Dalzell, 2007). From its inception, UPS has grown to be the world s biggest parcel delivery company. It is estimated that the Atlanta based company delivers approximately three billion items in more than two hundred countries and territories per annum. The company owns an enormous fleet of vehicles, approximately around 88,000 in total. Also, UPS owns and operates the 9th largest airline business in North America. In regards to this, it has about 600 aircraft which are company owned and chartered (Brewster Dalzell, 2007). The global penetration of UPS has been observed to be gradually increasing raising its market share in many countries. However, the company s U.S. operations have made the most significant impact on the overall business transactions. It has employed a door to door delivery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cyber Terrorism In 1999, Chinese hackers targeted United States government sites, after an accidental bombing of a Chinese embassy in Belgrade. During this attack, government sites were hijacked and some sites suffered a denial of service attack. Most recently, it was suspected that Bank of America was the victim of a cyber terrorism attack; although no definitive evidence is available to substantiate that claim. Cyber terror attacks pose a threat against the national security of the United States. In order to fully comprehend the threat that cyber terrorism poses, it is essential to understand the background, the effects, the reality of the threat and the future of cyber terrorism. This assessment examines the reality of the cyber terrorism threat, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, terrorists will strive to improve their cyber terror attack capabilities by keeping pace with the emerging technologies and overcoming countermeasures. Many computer security experts question the possibility that the Internet could be used to inflict death on a large scale. Some precautions have been made. Systems have been established in the last five years, which aim at preventing a possible cyber terrorism attack. Air gapping has been established on all nuclear weapons, meaning the weapons are not connected to the Internet or any open computer network and cannot be accessed by intruders or terrorists. Still, other areas of concern include subways, gas lines, power grids and communication systems; which are owned primarily by the private sector and are managed by Internet enabled computer systems. Reality of a Cyber Terror Attack Malicious cyber activity is occurring more frequently and with unexpected complexity. In mid December of 2009, Google experienced a highly sophisticated and targeted attack which originated in China on its search engine infrastructure and e mail, as well as on at least 20 other companies. Attacks are occurring within the United States, as well. Attacks on government networks are omnipresent. • 4. Analysis Of Diane Riva s Exposed Toes In the text Exposed Toes the author, Diane Riva, reflects on her collection of shoes and how each pair has a meaning to her. She describes how each pair of shoe she owns relates to a specific memory or time period in her life. She asserts that shoes can tell stories of our lives and are not just an article of clothing that we wear on our feet. Riva goes through all the shoes she owns and explains their story and how the shoe is a part of her life. For example, she brings up her black sneakers which are worn when we works at a bar. She states, they are constant recipients of the over filled glass of alcohol. From this we learn her profession and get some insight on her memories as a bartender. Riva talks about all of her shoes in this manner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the entire text, multiple examples of flashback are used in order for the audience to view Riva s past experiences. She gave an example of flashing back to one cold November day to pick up her paycheck while wearing her huaraches. Due to this flashback, we get a little glimpse of a story that happened as the author was wearing her huarache shoes. By using a flashback, it is an attempt by the author to make the audience relate to her situation. It also allows the reader to fully understand the context of the given argument by hearing about events that took place prior to argument at hand. Flashbacks within a text allow for great effectiveness because they entice the audience and make current arguments more clear given an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Computer Science Reflection My undergraduate major is measurement, and I have spent the last three years learning about optics, mechanics, electric circuits, and coding. Among those courses, and following three years of training including pieces of research and coursework, I have realized that I am enamored with coding the most. First of all, I enjoy the process of coding and verifying and adjusting the program. Taking my digital signal processor coursework as an example, after I finished writing the code, it appeared that the code might not have been correct because I could not receive the right temperature. So I set the program to a debug mode and run every single step of my code and observed the feedback value. This was a very diversion for me. With the criticism comes about because of single step investigating, I made a couple of theories about the issue, for example, the time postponed is not sufficiently exact, or I might be coding about the wrong sticks. So I checked these hypotheses one by one, and for reasons unknown, the issue is the piece of my program concerning time deferring because the segment I used to quantify temperature which is DS18B20 is extremely strict on timing arrangement. Getting the right outcome is exceptionally fulfilling, so is the procedure because through speculation autonomously I procure much involvement and capability. Another thing that intrigues me regarding computer science comes from what I have learned through our research requirement in theory and technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Who Shall Control Our Schools Summary In the 1920s, there was a great debate over the changing of values in America. The jazz age had erupted and with it, came new debates over what is best for the United States and it s children. America was in a crisis, fighting between its victorian history and the new world of advertisement and propaganda. One of the great debates during this time, was whether or not evolution should be taught in public schools. The difference in ideals between the conservatives and those who were modern was large. Most matters at this time had to do with the difference between church and state laws. Evolution and creationism were two of the biggest issues brought up between state and church. In an effort to keep evolution out of schools, the Butler Act was put into place on March 23rd, 1925. The Butler Act was a law in Tennessee that made it illegal for public schools to teach evolution. The most famous challenge of the Butler Act was during the Scopes Trial in July 1925. In this trial, the state of Tennessee and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his essay, Who Shall Control our Schools? , Bryan opens up and shares his thoughts on the materials taught in schools and who should decide what is taught. Bryan examines the sources of information in this essay but specifically examines the role of teachers. I quote, Professor Scopes has raised a question of the very first magnitude and the ones most likely to suffer by the raising of the issue are those who think they can ignore the right of the people to have what they want in government, including the kind of education they want (192). Bryan perfectly shares the thoughts of most people during this time. The idea that government is becoming too victorian and needs to change based on what the people want, this is the same in education. The symptoms of acute knowlesi are similar to those of Malaria falciparum and Malaria vivax. In new research described by Cox Singh et al, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, and diarrhea were all present in fatal cases that could have been prevented if the quick recognition of the infection was achieved by treating medical professionals. As the scope of paramedic practice is growing exponentially the knowledge of such clinical presentations could result in faster diagnosis, and treatment if presented with the infection. This article covers the present education and knowledge of the clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, pathogenesis, and epidemiology of P. knowlesi malaria but unfortunately has only been drawn from a small number of clinical case reports, both and moderately limited field studies. The data collected indicates that P.knowlesi malaria is primarily categorized as a zoonotic disease with primates as the major hosts, mainly long and short tailed macaques. (Porter 1980s, 1985 David B, Management, Prentice Hall, 3rd Edition 2005) The ability of a firm to earn an acceptable return on investment highly depends on how business managers handle these forces in their immediate business The objective of this script is to critically study the Wal mart five force analyses. These five forces are the ability of potential competitors, the threat of new products, the buying power of consumer, and finally the bargaining strategies of suppliers. The threat of Competitors The most visible threat in the retail business across the United State is Competition. The quality of competition in the U S as a sub region has significant influences on business within its borders, and these are due to the following factors; technological, economic, social and political factors. Wal Mart is directly faced with competitors like K mart, Target, Winco, Albertsons and wholesale retailers like Costco. The threat form is slightly different in scale putting into account the span of business activities and ability to match dominant actors. Wal Mart`s price low cost and discount strategies often leaves less room for competition from small firms in the business and it takes the likes of Target and K Mart to follow suit in the low cost price strategy. The level of threat is medium given the resource available, brand awareness, service strategies, economies of scale, and the available product option that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Amin In Uganda Research Paper Idi Amin rose to power in 1971 through a violent military coup. Amin and his army successfully overthrew Uganda s former president Milton Obote with the foreign aid from both the British and Israeli Government. From the British Amin received aid through large amounts of money being sent to his personal bank account and from the Israelis he received arms. Amin s success at gaining and holding power was largely based on foreign assistance. Amin s regime survived as long as it did in part because it always found one or another imperialist power to patronise it (Fall of Idi Amin 1). The economic embargo that was instituted as well as the negative perception around Amin caused Uganda to fail economically and to have no foreign powers want to help because they did not want to be seen as supporting a cruel leader. Through all Amin s missteps and failures his inability to run a successful country without foreign support was his biggest weakness. He was not able to have good relations with countries either because of rash decisions which offended those countries or because of bad public image led to a country to weak to sustain itself. Amin s final attack on Tanzania was a failure and he was forced to leave Uganda and seek refuge in Saudi Arabia for the rest of his life. In the span of eight years, Amin had devastated Uganda. • 13. Suicide -A Serious Issue Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out. Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and everyday it will get worst, until the worst of all happends. This was said by philosophers Schopenhauer s father. From this point it is apparent that her story is going to be different. While she relies on the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind body conscious self is just as active as Tom or Anna s. In fact, it may be even stronger for her because she seems to be more aware of it: She became aware of herself, that she was a separate entity in the midst of an unseparated obscurity, that she must go somewhere, she must become something. (Lawrence 281). She has her first experience with love at an early age, when she encounters Anton Skrebensky. Disney s Influence On Disney Disney has been around for many generations of people s lives and has had a true impact on most of society, but now Disney is slowly straying away from the true purpose that they have built all of their old work upon. No longer is Disney focused on being a magical company, but more of one that has the most power in the world, which they have already been able to achieve. Disney now appears to be profit hungry by producing films that relate to society rather than inspire it, or repeat an old animation film through live action, i.e. Cinderella. Society s influence on Disney became so grand, with the demands of more feminist movies, different ethnicities, etc. that Disney decided to please society. While these perspectives have well thought ideas, from my view point, Disney is straying away from being magical to slowly transforming into becoming a people pleasing company. All of this helps them gain more profit and creates greed/lust for more. Disney has been alive through many generations. As people age, the mind s thought process changes. Due to this, it is said that people grow out of old interests, which some put Disney into this. Instead of Disney being the one to change, it is the older generations. Disney supposedly aims for a certain age group. In a journal by Towbin, children are discussed towards the beginning because Disney is known to have a huge influence on them through media because media is how they learn now a days and Disney takes a part in shaping their future. That is where the argument appears about Disney not changing because if they truly changed, the children would not enjoy the films as much as they do already, always wanting to be a certain Disney princess or another character. Adults have already found their passion, how to function and go through life, this being said, the Disney films are just there for the adults to watch for entertainment if wished, and if not, it was intended for a child to begin with. Others believe Disney has changed their purpose of their work, but for the better. The shell of stereotypes are broken within the films, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bourgeoisie And Industrialism In the wood carvings created in 1846, two separate images depict a model welfare institution for orphaned girls and boys in Germany during the early years of industrialization. Both images portray a glorified view of the Bourgeoisie, who were owners of the means of production, and the Proletariat, members of the working class. These two social classes propelled the Industrial Revolution in Europe. The two images titled Orphaned Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution, present an idealized situation of the Industrial Revolution and argue that the Bourgeoisie depended on the labor of the Proletariat for economic prosperity and survival. Members of the Proletariat became forced to sell their manual labor to the Bourgeoisie to live. The Bourgeoisie and Proletariat worked closely together but quickly developed a one sided relationship with the Bourgeoisie controlling work hours and wages. The first of the two carvings, titled Orphaned Girls and Boys in a Welfare Institution, claim it was vital for young girls during the Industrial Revolution to learn how to sew correctly. The Industrial Revolution called upon every man and woman to produce material goods. To maximize production, the Bourgeoisie became forced to increase their labor force and had to teach young girls necessary trade skills. In the orphanage, some girls seem confused and do not know how to sew because they are staying away from their work (Image 1). The Bourgeoisie are unable to gain economic wealth when members of their labor force were unable to assemble a product or material correctly. Additionally, in the far right corner of the image, the leader of the orphanage punished a girl, yet she still sews (Image 1), which indicates that even though the girl committed an egregious act, the Bourgeoisie still depended on her labor because they still needed to meet the daily quota. • 17. The Importance Of The Conversion Of Lower Energy Light Upconversion is a term that characterizes the conversion of lower energy light, particularly in the near infrared region, into higher energy light within the visible spectrum. This occurs through a process in which the sequential absorption of multi photon near infrared light yields the emission of light that is of shorter wavelength[1]. This process is represented in Figure 1, which shows the emissions of light within the visible spectrum after excitation of various dopant ions by near infrared light[1]. The upconversion effect has been observed primarily in the rare earth metals of the lanthanides as well as yttrium, and scandium; however, some transition metals and actinides can also display this effect[2]. Lanthanide ions display special inner shell arrangements of 4fn 5d0 1, which allow for unique energy levels and provide shielding from the outer shells[2]. Due to their various f orbital configurations, lanthanide ions are able to display very sharp luminescence emissions via intra 4f or 4f 4d transitions[2,3]. The importance of the lanthanide ions is evident in several applications including applications in lasers, bioprobe applications, optical imaging, and photodynamic therapy [2,3]. This is due to their fluorescent properties, which include: resistance to photobleaching, monochromaticity, large Stokes shifts, narrow bandwidth, and long emission lifetime[2,3]. The direct excitation of the lanthanide ions is not very effective because they are limited by low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Given that the inspiration for an artist s work can be so varied and diverse, I think it s hard to say that artists have a social responsibility given that some artists work don t necessarily convey or reflect the feelings or ideals of the greater bulk of society. Artistic expression is important and as soon as society begins to police or restrict the ability of an artist to express his or herself, I think we re moving into dangerous territory as a culture. The two main forms of treatment are biomedical therapy and verbal therapy. Biomedical therapies are medicinal drugs administered to a patient by a psychiatrist. Verbal therapies are talk sessions that a patient has with a psychologist. The prescription of drugs is the most common type of treatment in resolving psychological disorders. Based on a study done by the National Center for Health Statistics, the usage of psychiatric drugs, more specifically antidepressant drugs, went up 400% in the span of just twenty years. This may be because medications are seen as an answer to people s prayers. People think that they re fast and they ll cure anything and everything, making people feel normal again. Therapy could be quite expensive when compared to medication, making individuals choose drugs over therapy. Another reason for more people wanting to use medication could be that there are many commercials on TV and on the radio advocating for medicinal drug usage, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even if people don t really understand the language that you re making music in, they appreciate and know good music when they hear it. Lou Rawls was absolutely correct when he pointed this out. Regardless where and from whom it comes from, good music is good music and anyone can appreciate that. With any genre of music, musicians aim at stirring a mysterious feeling with their songs. They all hope for a positive reaction from their listeners and fans. Over the years however, musicians have continued to switch from one genre to another. Herman Melville s Story, Bartleby, the Scrivener Essay In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby, the Scrivener, the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby is constantly changing, the narrator s attitude is conveyed through the author s use of literary elements such as; diction descriptive and comical, point of view first person, and tone confusion and sadness. One of the literary elements that Melville uses that convey the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby is diction. The author s diction in this short story is very descriptive and is also slightly comical. One of the ways this is used is when the author gently mocks the narrator by having him expose his flaws through his own words. Diction is just one of the literary elements used in this short story which convey the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby. Another literary element that is used to convey the narrator s attitude towards Bartleby is through point of view. In Bartleby, the Scrivener the point of view that is used is that of first person narration. By Melville s use of first person narration it allows us to get close to Bartleby but still be confused and in awe of him and since we see him through the eyes of his employer we can quickly identify with the narrator s confusing feelings over Bartleby. An example of this appears on page 127 in paragraph 6; I sat awhile in perfect silence, rallying my stunned faculties. Immediately it occurred to me that my ears had deceived me, or Bartleby had entirely misunderstood my meaning. I repeated my request in the clearest tone I could assume; but in quite as clear a one came the previous reply, I would prefer not to. Here Bartleby has just refused orders from his boss who sits at his desk stunned at wheat he has just heard. This is not the only time throughout the story in which Bartleby does this and always with the same words; I would prefer not to which only frustrates and confuses the narrator. • 42. Depression And Depression In The Scarlet Letter By... It will take over every thought, control one s very being until they truly believe they are hopeless, broken, and undeserving of even the most basic comforts. It will drain the very soul until there is no spirit left in a person. Everyone will experience it at least once in their lifetime, whether it s from a close family death or a disfiguration of the mind. It does not discriminate race, gender, religion or profession; it is depression. The symptoms of depression often seen in people are self harm, feelings of guilt, worsening health, unshakeable sadness, interrupted sleep patterns, distancing one s self from everything, and a lack a hope. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne can be read as a psychological novel in which the characters, Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale, have different experiences with depression. First of all, the way depression affects an individual from The Scarlet Letter is through the events of self harm. Depression is often a leading cause of self harm. Studies in depression have shown several cases of self harm, most often caused by the fact that people either enjoy the pain, feel as though they deserve to undergo it, or they feel as though it is the only way they can control the pain in their lives. These feelings translate directly into The Scarlet Letter through Dimmesdale. However Bizony rebuffs this myth by explaining that the powdery lunar soil was disturbed by the downward pointing jet of the exhaust, but the thrust was not enough to create a crater in the topsoil, much less even be able to penetrate the hard rocky substrate (Bizony, It was all a fake, right?, 2009). The website, moonlandinghoax.org explains that the lunar module had six foot long landing probes under the foot pads and when they registered contact the engines would stop firing and the module would fall gently the rest of the way (Moon landing hoax). Since the engines stopped firing approximately six feet before landing, there was not enough blast pressure to create a crater. • 48. Race And Ethnicity Are Integral Parts Of America Race and Ethnicity are integral parts of America. They are often used interchangeably. Race is associated with biology. It is a socially and politically constructed category of individuals who are assumed to share common inborn biological traits, such as bone structure, hair type, skin, or eye color. These distinctions have been used to the detriment or advantage of American groups over time. Whereas ethnicity is associated with culture factors. It is often tied to nationality of origin and characterized by a person s ethnic traits, customs, and/or associations. Race and ethnicity in some ways go hand in hand and in other ways differ. Although the similarities are not quite the same they still have the same concept. Today s society plays a huge role in defining these terms. Humans have been separated into biological races. Although all humans belong to the same species, there are minor genetic differences around the world that generate distinct physical appearances, such as variations in skin color. There was a time when religion, social status, and language were more important than physical appearances. The term race, with ambiguous meaning, has transformed over time.
