SWOT Analysis And Environmental Analysis Of Apple
Environmental Analysis A SWOT analysis is an evaluation of the business environment and
organizational strategic capability to identify key issues that may impact strategy development
(Ireland, R., Hoskisson Hitt, 2008). Strengths and weaknesses define a firm s internal environment
whereas opportunities and threats constitute the external environment.
Internal Environment

Apple was established as an IT company dealing in exclusively in computers. However, competition
in the technology sector forced the firm to focus on other consumer products. The diversification
strategy has seen Apple s sales grow tremendously in the last decade, earning the firm the No. 1 brand
position at Forbes. The Apple brand is recognized on an international scale and enjoys a strong
recognition thanks to its aggressiveness when it comes to creativity and innovation (Tar, 2013). It has
a large number of loyal customers who would purchase the new products regardless of the market
price, which guarantees profits from the new division. The company employs and trains skilled sales
personnel to promote its items. Besides, direct sales branches are strategically located in high traffic
zones to attract more potential buyers and strengthen revenues. The company manages its supply
chain effectively. It produces annual publications of supplier codes of conduct, a move that increases
brand recognition. The company enjoys implausible trade name trustworthiness, implying that many

The Terror Of Osama Bin Laden
The terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001 centered on New York City was a devastation that
affected the United States as Al Qaeda wanted to instill fear in the mass public, and also send a
message simultaneously to their counterparts that they were not to be taken lightly. Since then, it has
never been forgotten and was one of the worst tragedies to occur in recent history. In an otherwise
positive note, Osama Bin Laden has since been killed and his death has directly caused a morale
decrease in the terrorist faction. Terrorism was always in play when it came to the United States, but it
only came into the limelight with the 9/11 attacks. The attacks brought numerous repercussions, such

Additionally, these women were found to be more prone to give birth prematurely and deliver babies

aftermath of the attacks, citing national security, but they did not determine it was safe enough until

Correlational Method
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the correlational method as a means for examining the
relationship between functions of the left and right hemispheres. I will compare the performance of
people with intact brains with the performance of so called split brain patients. In many ways, the
brains of these two groups are very similar. 1a. The location of the brainstem in the normal brain is
near the lower back of the brain, where the cerebrum and spinal cord connect. The brainstem is
separated into three parts. One is the midbrain, which regulates temperature, and is a part of vision,
hearing, motor movement, sleep cycles, and alertness. Next is the pons, which controls sleep,
respiration, the bladder, hearing, taste, posture, and facial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, future investigations may need to adopt techniques that improve upon those used here. 5a.
Since brain function is lateralized between the two hemispheres of the brain, normal patients should
display a greater relationship between functions usually occurring in the left hemisphere and those
performed by the right hemisphere. So in split brain patients, the relationship between hemispheres
performing tasks that require to different hemispheres of the brain would be much weaker. The
correlational analysis is consistent with the hypothesis because the correlation coefficients for normal
brain patients are much higher than the correlation coefficient coefficients for split brain patients when
each group performed tasks that required two different hemispheres of the brain. 5b. All the results
readily fit the hypothesis. 5c. To improve the correlational study, a researcher should increase the
sample size and include more tasks, such as mathematical calculations, reading skills, and creativity,
to further test each hemisphere in the brain for both types of patients. 5d. Correlational studies should
not be used to test hypotheses because they cannot verify whether or not one variable causes another.
Correlation is not the same as causation, since the results have a likelihood to be due to chance.
Experiments allow us to manipulate and isolate variables to ensure causation. 5e. Another experiment
that can be used to test our hypotheses would be to take four cognitive tests such as math problems,
family facial recognition, music recognition, and a reading test first covering the left eye and then the
right eye for a group of normal patients and split brain patients to test their abilities. I think the normal
patients will do far better in all the tests than the split brain

Essay about B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
Introduction In the age of technology business has come a long way and evolved tremendously. It used
to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has
changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all
over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to
Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to
Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get
transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the
supply chains of B2B and B2C ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these are just the tip of the iceberg. B2C eCommerce now has matured and includes a
myriad of online services. These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online
auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001).
B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that
assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of
channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total
channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels
with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on
their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The
channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s
look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows,
individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology
and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth
resupply , billing, etc. This is an

Portryal of Andy as a Symbol of Hope in Shawshank...
In 1994, Frank Darabont s film The Shawshank Redemption received a poor reception when released;
it only made a $0.3m profit. More recently the film has become known as one of the greatest movies
of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight, leave abusive marriages
and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea of hope. Andy Dufresne is a
Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected murder of his wife and her
lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along with the other convicts, saving
them from institutionalisation. One of the ways in which Andy saves himself is by making projects for
himself. The first thing that Andy does is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope can
drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown in the
light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in the film, an
example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly by the prison
guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was his name? . This
hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the film, when everybody
becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards and consequently wins three
bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are regularly shown laughing
together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects hope into the eyes of the
viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica illuminate this point when Red
begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an icon of hope; it is used throughout
the whole film in various different ways, to express and exaggerate different emotions that the
characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of emotions and the feelings towards the idea of
hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the
viewer. The main use of Music

Same Sex Marriage Has Become Legal And The View On Lgbtq...
In eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe, also known as the Enlightenment Era, same sex
behaviors were typically seen in a negative light. Sometimes even punished due to laws that were in
place at the time, sodomy laws. Somewhere in the 1920s people began to assume that homosexuality
could be changed through psychology. This movement was so popular at the time that even Freud
stated that homosexuality could sometimes be removed through hypnotic suggestion. However, this
fact was disproven by United States Surgeon General David Satcher in a report, there is no valid
scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed. Since this time same sex marriage has
become legal and the view on LGBTQ seems to have shifted, at least in a majority. Each culture has
its own beliefs and perceptions when it comes to homosexuality. In the United States, those
perceptions differ between lesbian or gay, as parents, across cultures, and in education.
When those with different perceptions get together, it could be beneficial to see things from the other s
point of view, or it could be detrimental and cause some sort of fight. However, the biggest detriment
could be with the person who is a homosexual, negative effects on health and well being of this
individual. (American Psychological Association, 2008) The biggest concern has more to do with their
significant mental health concerns that come with such a prejudice of the sexual orientation
discrimination. (American Psychological

Syntax Of Syntax In Hamlet
In Act 2, Scene 2 of Hamlet, Shakespeare creates an image of Hamlet by using syntax to reveal his
state of mind. In this soliloquy, it is revealed that Hamlet not only is on the verge of insanity, but he
also has reason. Previous to this soliloquy, Hamlet finds out that his uncle, Claudius, kills his father
and then marries his mother afterwards. This betrayal of his family, mixed with the visits by his father
s ghost, guides Hamlet towards seeking revenge. The manner in which the words are organized and
the sentences are structured is called syntax. Throughout this soliloquy, Shakespeare uses syntax to
allow for the audience to see inside Hamlet s head. For example, in the beginning, Hamlet is furious,
and his words show it. His sentences are long and confused, followed by short bursts of anger and
refusal. Hamlet is jealous that a player can act out his emotions, but that he himself is suffering to seek
revenge. The series of questions throughout the whole play help the reader to understand that Hamlet
does not fully believe in his cause. By not believing, but still acting on his duty, suggests that Hamlet
is perhaps going insane. If there is no truth in the ghost s accusations, Hamlet is planning to kill his
uncle just for fun. The visit by his father s ghost, though, has reasonable doubt to Hamlet, as he feels
that it may just be the devil trying to create his downfall. In lines 543, the reader sees that Hamlet feels
he is a coward. Since Hamlet asks, Am I a

Evaluation Of A Powerpoint Video Essay
Introduction
The artifact I am reflecting on is a voice project, which is a PowerPoint video that I developed during
the Health Education Methods and Materials (HLED 558) course, that held on the Summer of 2015
semester at Eastern Michigan University. The PowerPoint video was made as a part of the plan to
advocate the EMU Tobacco Free Policy that went on effect July 1st, 2015. Also, it was made to market
the STOP cessation program that will be implemented later to help student quitting smoking. This
PowerPoint is mainly a collecting of some pictures showing different places at EMU campus in a very
beautiful view. In addition, the PowerPoint also include the EMU free zone map moreover, the logo of
the policy, and the logo of STOP program that were designed by two of my class peers and the. The
EMU website was used as a source for some picture. The idea of the PowerPoint is based on showing
the beauty of the EMU campus and making the connection of that to the EMU environment and
student health regarding tobacco free campus. That connection was made by adding some thoughtful
words emphasizing the hidden meaning I want to show behind those picture. Then delivering the
message about the policy and the program, all that with a companion of music.

Ironwood Movie vs. Book
Ironweed comparison
Ironweed is the remarkable story of Francis Phelan, once a talented baseball player, husband and
father of three, who has fallen so far from grace that his home for the past twenty two years has been
the street. He sees and converses with men he has killed, and men he s helped or befriended along the
way. The story s events take place over a period of three days, in which Francis gradually comes to
terms with the past he fled so long ago. The Ironweed story has been adapted to novel and movie
formats, which will be compared below. I much preferred the movie version to the novel. For me,
author William Kennedy s style of writing is needlessly vague and difficult to follow, yet he did a

Francis leaves two dollars at the front desk for her, and moves on. After Rudy s death the book seems
to go on to a hypothetical what if scenario in which Francis might go back to the hotel to see Helen
and find her dead. If a tombstone had not been mentioned it would be difficult to realize the author if
referring to her death at all. These are just a few examples of Kennedy s unnecessarily grandiose style
of writing, but there was at least one instance where I found the novel to outshine the movie. In the
novel s climax, Francis accepts his wife s offer to move back home. Phelan reads a letter he received
many years ago from his then nine year old daughter, who is now a grown women filled with hatred at
Phelan s desertion of his family. Phelan has kept these letters all these years, and his reading of them is
perhaps the highlight of the entire story. This is not as dramatic or emotional in the film as in the
novel, but visually it is just as intense. I by no means claim to be a novice reader. I consider myself to
be well read, and have a rather wordy writing style myself, but I still found the novel version of
Ironweed to be just to difficult to follow. I fully understand the authors use of descriptive language to
create a world in which the reader is able to imagine and visualize, and that world is

Velocity would not have a tendency to decrease, as it does in the corona, by virtue of multidirectional
collisions to slow the atoms down because of the increased spacing between atoms; therefore,
temperature would not be decreased by these collisions. Multidirectional collisions have some cooling
effect on gas or plasma because the velocities are added by vectoring. For example, some of the atoms
can have equal velocity for travel in opposite directions and on a collision course. When this collision
happens all momentum is lost by both atoms and they are no longer in motion. With no motion their
temperatures are cooled dramatically and now absorb heat from the surrounding plasma and are again

Eleanor Of Aquitaine And The Middle Ages
One of the of the most prominent figures of the middle ages was Eleanor of Aquitaine. Due to the
inheritance of her father s vast estate at the age of 15, Eleanor became the most sought after bride in
the nation. She became queen of France, queen of England, and led a crusade to the holy land. Not to
mention, Eleanor is also honored for her famous court of love. Born in modern day Southern France in
1122, Eleanor de Guyenne, also known as Eleanor of Aquitaine, was the eldest daughter of William X,
tenth Duke of Aquitaine and Aenor of Chatellerault. She was brought up in one of England s most
cultured courts and was enthralled with riding and hunting. She was thoroughly versed in literature,
philosophy, and several languages. Eleanor began training for the rigors of court life at the age of five,
and was extremely bright to say the least. When Eleanor was fifteen, her father set out on a pilgrimage
to the shrine of St. James of Compostella, leaving his daughters in the charge of Geoffrey de Lauroux,
Archbishop of Bordeaux. He took gravely ill on his journey home and passed away on April 9, 1137.
Eleanor, the heiress, inherited her father s authority and land. After the death of her father, she was

Summary Of The American Dream In Mcteague
The Genes Run in the Family
In the nineteenth century, America was a place of immigration and new ideas. Many immigrants came
to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity
(Dictionary.com), but attaining this goal was not as easy as it may sound. Some were born into the
American dream while others who were born into the lower class had to try and work towards the
dream but oftentimes failed. In the novel McTeague, Frank Norris depicts how the force of heredity
affects an individual s success with the American dream through McTeague, Maria, and Zerkow. All
three of these characters are given parents and ancestries that are the main cause of their downfalls.
Norris demonstrates how in the end, one s own success is determined by that of their parents as he
supplies McTeague with several opportunities throughout the novel to change his fortune, but it is his
parents fault that he is not able to succeed. McTeagues father is described as steady, hard working
while at work, yet when at home he is a brute, crazy with alcohol (Norris 2). This alcoholism dug his
father deep into a hole and he eventually died from it, never amounting to anything more than a shift
boss at the mine. McTeague follows this path of his father when he too becomes a drunken brute and
his stupidity, the sluggishness of his brain, seemed to be unusually stimulated (Norris 234) by the
alcohol. McTeague s alcoholism leads him to beating Trina and eventually killing her for the money.
His father did not beat and kill McTeague s mother because she had no money that she was keeping
from him, but McTeague inevitably fell into his father s drunken footsteps and was pushed even
further by Trina s actions towards his death. One of McTeague s opportunities for success arises after
he kills Trina and leaves with all of the money, but his inherited stupidity managed to reap no benefit
from the opportunity. He was forced to leave the area and flee from law enforcement officers, so he
travelled to various mines, once again a miner like his father was. His father being a miner and
McTeague s imbecility work in harmony to conclude that it was inevitable McTeague would further

Principles Of Universal Design Of Kroger
ADA/Universal Design Project Summary The grocery store Kroger was inspected based on American
s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and universal design. Overall the store was very disability friendly
although, like many grocery stores, Kroger had items high on shelves that would be hard for people in
wheelchairs to reach. To fix this problem, some principles of universal design could be integrated into
the store layout. The general universal design of the store was fairly inclusive. The power doors at the
entrance allowed for equitable use, the first principle of universal design. Kroger also had restrooms
on either ends of the store. One of the sets of restrooms contained two unisex bathrooms. Though
these two bathrooms didn t have accessible signs there were grab bars and low sinks in the bathroom
fulfilling the second universal design, principle flexibility in use. The organization of the store made it
simple and intuitive, one side of the store contained groceries while the other contained home goods.
This setup allows for optimal flow throughout the store and ease when looking for specific items.
Kroger complied with the low physical effort principle in many ways, the doors to the bathrooms were

Indentured Servitude In America
Between 1750 to the present in Latin America and the Caribbean, harsh and oppressive working
conditions remained constant, however slavery was gradually eradicated and the labor system changed
to a wage labor system after the abolishment of indentured servitude.
Although many changes have occurred in Latin America and the Caribbean, laborers continuously
have faced harsh and oppressive working conditions. During European colonization in the late
eighteenth century, countries such as Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico had rich mines filled with silver,
therefore Amerindians and Africans were enslaved and had to mine in appalling conditions. The Potosi
mine in Bolivia produced the greatest silver influx for Spain. Due to the Amerindians little resistance

Indentured servitude is a system that was introduced to meet the growing demands for inexpensive
and abundant slaves in the colonies. Indentured servants were guaranteed freedom and passage to the
Americas after completing four to seven years of labor. Many Europeans, specifically the Irish, came
to the Caribbean willingly and unwillingly in the eighteenth century. Over one hundred thousand Irish
workers were sent to the Caribbean because they were prisoners of war during the Wars of the Three
Kingdoms and almost fifty percent of them died before the completion of their contract. Life was
difficult in the plantations and they produced cash crops, including sugar, tobacco, and cotton.
Indentured servitude was a labor system that attracted workers because of the prospect of a better life
and freedom, however most servants died due to the brutal conditions before they were able to gain
freedom. Although slavery was abolished in 1830 in Britain, indentured servitude increased in the
Caribbean. Indentured servants arrived from India and China, thus Indo Caribbeans form a majority in
Guyana. Indian indentured slaves were more common than laborers from other countries, due to their
connection with the British government. After the abolishment of slavery, slaves needed work,
therefore they also became indentured servants. The plantations offered some food and housing for the
workers. In general, indentured servitude increased in the Caribbean after the abolishment of slavery.
In 1917, Britain prohibited the system of indentured servitude in the Caribbean. The abolishment of
indentured servitude leads to the current labor system of the Caribbean, which is wage labor. Wage
labor is the socioeconomic relationship when the worker receives payment from his employer for his
services.

Cheryl Mother Child Relationship
A mother to child relationship is unbondable, similar to that of the bonds between a proton and
neutron. In order to prevent the pain of motherhood, Cheryl used suicide as a leeway. She is a victim
of alcohol abuse, which integrated itself to the reason behind giving away her son. To begin with, on
February eighteenth nineteen seventy one Cheryl gave birth to a son (Henry Lee Raintree) whose
father is her pimp (Mosinoier 227). The inferred reason the baby was born is due to Cheryl being an
alcoholic for coping with the separation of her sister living a new life in Toronto. Alcohol made Cheryl
s life seem filled, but only temporarily. Cheryl was under the influence when the baby was conceived
with a man she truly didn t love. Moreover, due to the reason of working as a prostitute and her
landlord restating the fact that children are not allowed, Cheryl allowed Nancy (a friend) to raise her
child (Mosionier 227). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Ports And Terminal
3.3 Port and Terminal A port is defined as an area on both land and water, whether on the sea or river,
that provides facilities for shipping vessels to load and unload their cargo. This area, contained within
port limits , will have been established over years of increasing or declining trade patterns and
therefore is defined as the human set limits . There may be several harbors and/or terminals within the
port limits. While a terminal is defined as a single man made facility that may have several berths, that
handles vessels and possibly more than one type of vessel or cargo. The rapid growth of international
and local trade in Maritime sector underline the importance of ports and terminal in connecting the
ship with the land to move the people or cargo. Ports and terminal are recognized as vital contributors
in facilitating Malaysia s trade. Since Malaysia is a nation surrounded by a sea area much larger than

The Negative Effects Of Canadian Cinema
A nation s cultural texts are often used and appropriated in its quest for self definition.2 Canada s
national identity is a much debated topic and has often been conceptualized as a crisis, especially
through important cultural products like film. Canadian cinema bears a responsibility of reflecting and
creating a national identity, with blurred boundaries and a lack of coherent definition. Negatives often
seem to outweight positives; Canadian cinema, more prominently its English industry, is considered
amateurish and boring, and one bad Canadian film tends to reflect on the industry as a whole. These
views often derive from Canadians themselves, and such self loathing stances originate from a history
of industrial and socio cultural effects, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though such policies have arguably improved the state of the Canadian industry, many problems still
persist. Funding cuts began to take their toll on the industry in the mid 1990s, with the NFB budget
reduced by 4 million. Canadian box office figures are included as part of the American domestic
market, a fact that still remains true years later after the American vertical integration in 1927.22 The
Canadian economic dependence on the American film industry, as will be discussed in the second part
of this essay, is one of the key obstructions of Canada s cinematic identity, as well as its identity at
large. The industrial context of Anglo Canadian cinema has heavily affected the views that Canadians
hold of themselves as they consume national films, but it goes the other way as well; the collective
films of a nation can reveal much about its collective consciousness, acting as a metaphor for its state
of mind.23 The second part of the essay will examine Canada s insistence on comparing its films to
Hollywood models due to the industrial contexts previously mentioned, then reveal the problematic
implications of defining Canada s identity in that

The Music Of John Cage
John Cage lived a very interesting, non traditional life that allowed him to form his outside of the box

careers in the art world, he decided to compose music and through a winding, tumultuous road, he
rose to the top of the classical music world. His life greatly influenced his music. His study of
Buddhism and working with the choreographies of Merce Cunningham allowed Cage to discover the

Cage says that Schoenberg has had the biggest influence on his work. With Cage being very young, he
had trouble paying for the lessons from Schoenberg, so Schoenberg cut a deal with Cage. He would
tutor him for free as long as Cage promised to devote his life to music. This is why even forty years
later, Cage was still drafting compositions, he was so grateful for Schoenberg s generosity that he did
not want to break the promise. After studying under Schoenberg for 2 years, Cage met Xenia
Kashevaroff and married her. She was a dancer and they moved to Hollywood where Cage
choreographed music for his wife s dance routines. During this time, Cage began using irregular
instruments. After teaching at UCLA and other colleges, Cage left to go to Seattle, Washington, and

In the 1940s, Cage and Xenia moved to New York and stayed with good friends, but after a falling out,

The Federal Election Commission ( Fec )
In 2009, Citizens United, a nonprofit organization, sued the Federal Election Commission (FEC),
which led to the controversial Supreme Court case that resulted in the removal of some of the
limitations on how corporations can spend money in elections. The Court majority argued that
restricting independent political spending is the equivalent of disregarding the right to free speech.
However, many Democrats and some Republicans believe that the power and sway of corporations
have a corrupting influence on American democracy; even if deals aren t made, the immense
concentration of direct contributions from the wealthiest 1 percent of the population gives them an
unusual influence over the political system. It is for this reason that almost every Democrat insists on
the reversal of Citizens United. President Obama, in his 2010 State of the Union address, reprimanded
the Supreme Court justices for their decision. The court, he stated, reversed a century of law that..will
open the floodgates for special interests...to spend without limit in our elections (Obama 2010).
Democratic lawmakers, activists, and supporters condemned the ruling as a disaster and bad for
American democracy (Kroll 2014). However, are the fears and concerns of Democrats valid and
justified? While it is true that there has been an increase in independent political spending following
the 2010 decision, it is up for debate whether this is just a systematic increase or one that warrants
close scrutiny. I

Environmental Impacts Of Marine Biodiversity Essay
The state of Florida is known for its beautiful waters and diverse marine ecosystems. Millions of
people visit the state each year to vacation and enjoy Florida s many tourist attractions. One of Florida
largest attractions is its fishing. People come from all over the world to experience Florida s exciting
and productive fisheries. Florida is even called the fishing capital of the world. The state not only has
the largest number of recreational fisherman in the country it also has the second largest commercial
fishing industry. Commercial fishing in Florida has deep historical roots dating all the way back to the
1800s. In some parts of Florida whole towns and economies are centered around the commercial
fishing industry. This has led to depleted populations of several fish species in many of these areas.
The commercial extraction of large numbers of individuals from targeted marine populations and the
inadvertent by catch and habitat damage that results from that extraction have been identified as
among the most critical factors currently affecting marine biodiversity ( Brailovskaya 1236) Due to its
environmental impacts, there should be more regulation on commercial fishing including stricter size
limits, and bag limits on fish. Implementation of bycatch reduction technologies should be required of
all commercial fisherman and no fishing zones should be established.
State regulations and limits of different species have become very controversial and many people

12 Angry Men By Reginald Rose
An issue that has been circulating is whether or not to conform. Rob Siltanen says, ... The ones who
see things differently. They re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can
quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can t do is ignore
them. Because they change thing.[...] ( cited) What he says is agreeable because the one that does not
conform, will be the one that changes themselves, their society and even their future. This matter is an
open topic of debate because one may agree that an individual does not need to conform to society s
ideals in order to find their happiness or be successful in life.
When an individual chooses to not conform, it will lead them to their future and their own

The Romantic Novels Of Jane Austen s Romantic Literature
Jane Austen, a Georgian era author, is best known for her romantic novels that criticize societal
traditions. Her upbringing and the support that she received from her family assisted her development
as a novelist. As she continued to create more literary pieces, Austen received more recognition for her
work and eventually became the renowned writer she is today.
Austen was born in Hampshire, England as the seventh child of Cassandra and George Austen.
Coming from a family of respectable community members, Austen grew up in an environment that
emphasized education and expressive reasoning. Her earliest form of education began when reading
from her father s library. There, Austen was encouraged by her father and began to develop her
creativity as an author. Austen eventually pursued a formal education when she and her older sister
Cassandra, one of her closest companions, were sent to boarding school. Both Jane and her sister s
formal education was abrupt, however, due to financial restrictions. After their formal education came
to a halt, the sisters returned to their home and resumed their studies. Jane continued to expand her
writing abilities through home based productions, which were common in the casual environment of
her family, and collections of personal stories. It is through these experiences that Jane Austen
resolved to become a formal writer.
Despite never marrying, Austen exhibits an extensive perspective on romance in her collection of
novels. Her literary works are comprised of satirical commentaries on society, as well as romantic
stories that involve unique characters. Eventually, Austen s romantic novels became popular among
the public, as seen with the immense success after her first published novel, Sense and Sensibility. Her
clever commentary and skilled writing ability attributed to acknowledgement as an author. Following
this success, Austen continued to gain acknowledgement from citizens and praise from literary critics.
Austen s reputation skyrocketed in the 20th century while she became accredited for her masterful
incorporation of realism elements into her stories (Augustyn). Furthermore, Austen demonstrated a
range of literary works with various tones. For instance, Austen s

Harris was responsible for the change of tactics that the British used, shifting from precision bombing
of key economic targets to area bombing which relied on the sheer destruction that bombing could

important when looking at strategic bombing in Europe is Nazi dictator Adolph Hitler whom rose to

During the Second World War many interesting pieces of equipment and new technology came into

subsequent switch to area bombing a new and interesting piece of technology known as Gee came into

aircraft s position and the location of the intended target. Gee s intended use was to improve the
accuracy of British bombers during night raids. Although Gee did work, it had a limited range and the
signals would not reach past the Rhine River. Still Gee was a success for about 6 months until the
Germans implemented countermeasures to jam the signals. Another interesting piece of technology

Workforce Instability Due At The Nursing Field
Workforce instability due to burnout in the nursing field, as demonstrated by high rates of staff
turnover and lingering vacancy rates, continue to be a major challenge facing healthcare organizations
in the U.S. According to the Webster s New World Dictionary, the definition of burnout is the
condition of someone who has become very physically and emotionally tired after doing a difficult job
for a long time (Burnout 2015). The term burnout was created in the 1940s, and was used to define
when a jet engine stopped working to the point where it was no longer operational. In the 1970 s,
human beings began to use this word. a psychiatrist Herbert Freudenberger used the term to describe
the status of overworked volunteers in mental health clinics. He compared the loss of idealism in these
volunteers to a building once a vital structure that had burned out, and he defined burnout as the
progressive loss of idealism, energy, and purpose experienced by people in the helping professions as
a result of the condition of their work (Freudenberger 1970 as cited in Copper, 2001). Though nurses
themselves may be overwhelmed, distraught, and unhappy. A high patient to nurse ratio have been

  • 6. Correlational Method The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the correlational method as a means for examining the relationship between functions of the left and right hemispheres. I will compare the performance of people with intact brains with the performance of so called split brain patients. In many ways, the brains of these two groups are very similar. 1a. The location of the brainstem in the normal brain is near the lower back of the brain, where the cerebrum and spinal cord connect. The brainstem is separated into three parts. One is the midbrain, which regulates temperature, and is a part of vision, hearing, motor movement, sleep cycles, and alertness. Next is the pons, which controls sleep, respiration, the bladder, hearing, taste, posture, and facial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, future investigations may need to adopt techniques that improve upon those used here. 5a. Since brain function is lateralized between the two hemispheres of the brain, normal patients should display a greater relationship between functions usually occurring in the left hemisphere and those performed by the right hemisphere. So in split brain patients, the relationship between hemispheres performing tasks that require to different hemispheres of the brain would be much weaker. The correlational analysis is consistent with the hypothesis because the correlation coefficients for normal brain patients are much higher than the correlation coefficient coefficients for split brain patients when each group performed tasks that required two different hemispheres of the brain. 5b. All the results readily fit the hypothesis. 5c. To improve the correlational study, a researcher should increase the sample size and include more tasks, such as mathematical calculations, reading skills, and creativity, to further test each hemisphere in the brain for both types of patients. 5d. Correlational studies should not be used to test hypotheses because they cannot verify whether or not one variable causes another. Correlation is not the same as causation, since the results have a likelihood to be due to chance. Experiments allow us to manipulate and isolate variables to ensure causation. 5e. Another experiment that can be used to test our hypotheses would be to take four cognitive tests such as math problems, family facial recognition, music recognition, and a reading test first covering the left eye and then the right eye for a group of normal patients and split brain patients to test their abilities. I think the normal patients will do far better in all the tests than the split brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay about B2B v. B2C Supply Chains B2B v. B2C Supply Chains Introduction In the age of technology business has come a long way and evolved tremendously. It used to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the supply chains of B2B and B2C ... These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001). B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows, individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth resupply , billing, etc. This is an ... • 8. Portryal of Andy as a Symbol of Hope in Shawshank... In 1994, Frank Darabont s film The Shawshank Redemption received a poor reception when released; it only made a $0.3m profit. More recently the film has become known as one of the greatest movies of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight, leave abusive marriages and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea of hope. Andy Dufresne is a Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected murder of his wife and her lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along with the other convicts, saving them from institutionalisation. Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope can drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown in the light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in the film, an example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly by the prison guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was his name? . This hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the film, when everybody becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards and consequently wins three bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are regularly shown laughing together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects hope into the eyes of the viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica illuminate this point when Red begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an icon of hope; it is used throughout the whole film in various different ways, to express and exaggerate different emotions that the characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of emotions and the feelings towards the idea of hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the viewer. • 9. Same Sex Marriage Has Become Legal And The View On Lgbtq... In eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe, also known as the Enlightenment Era, same sex behaviors were typically seen in a negative light. Sometimes even punished due to laws that were in place at the time, sodomy laws. Somewhere in the 1920s people began to assume that homosexuality could be changed through psychology. This movement was so popular at the time that even Freud stated that homosexuality could sometimes be removed through hypnotic suggestion. However, this fact was disproven by United States Surgeon General David Satcher in a report, there is no valid scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed. Since this time same sex marriage has become legal and the view on LGBTQ seems to have shifted, at least in a majority. Each culture has its own beliefs and perceptions when it comes to homosexuality. In the United States, those perceptions differ between lesbian or gay, as parents, across cultures, and in education. When those with different perceptions get together, it could be beneficial to see things from the other s point of view, or it could be detrimental and cause some sort of fight. However, the biggest detriment could be with the person who is a homosexual, negative effects on health and well being of this individual. • 10. Syntax Of Syntax In Hamlet In Act 2, Scene 2 of Hamlet, Shakespeare creates an image of Hamlet by using syntax to reveal his state of mind. In this soliloquy, it is revealed that Hamlet not only is on the verge of insanity, but he also has reason. Previous to this soliloquy, Hamlet finds out that his uncle, Claudius, kills his father and then marries his mother afterwards. This betrayal of his family, mixed with the visits by his father s ghost, guides Hamlet towards seeking revenge. The manner in which the words are organized and the sentences are structured is called syntax. Throughout this soliloquy, Shakespeare uses syntax to allow for the audience to see inside Hamlet s head. For example, in the beginning, Hamlet is furious, and his words show it. His sentences are long and confused, followed by short bursts of anger and refusal. Hamlet is jealous that a player can act out his emotions, but that he himself is suffering to seek revenge. The series of questions throughout the whole play help the reader to understand that Hamlet does not fully believe in his cause. By not believing, but still acting on his duty, suggests that Hamlet is perhaps going insane. If there is no truth in the ghost s accusations, Hamlet is planning to kill his uncle just for fun. The visit by his father s ghost, though, has reasonable doubt to Hamlet, as he feels that it may just be the devil trying to create his downfall. • 16. Summary Of The American Dream In Mcteague The Genes Run in the Family In the nineteenth century, America was a place of immigration and new ideas. Many immigrants came to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity (Dictionary.com), but attaining this goal was not as easy as it may sound. Some were born into the American dream while others who were born into the lower class had to try and work towards the dream but oftentimes failed. In the novel McTeague, Frank Norris depicts how the force of heredity affects an individual s success with the American dream through McTeague, Maria, and Zerkow. All three of these characters are given parents and ancestries that are the main cause of their downfalls. Norris demonstrates how in the end, one s own success is determined by that of their parents as he supplies McTeague with several opportunities throughout the novel to change his fortune, but it is his parents fault that he is not able to succeed. McTeagues father is described as steady, hard working while at work, yet when at home he is a brute, crazy with alcohol (Norris 2). This alcoholism dug his father deep into a hole and he eventually died from it, never amounting to anything more than a shift boss at the mine. McTeague follows this path of his father when he too becomes a drunken brute and his stupidity, the sluggishness of his brain, seemed to be unusually stimulated (Norris 234) by the alcohol. McTeague s alcoholism leads him to beating Trina and eventually killing her for the money. His father did not beat and kill McTeague s mother because she had no money that she was keeping from him, but McTeague inevitably fell into his father s drunken footsteps and was pushed even further by Trina s actions towards his death. One of McTeague s opportunities for success arises after he kills Trina and leaves with all of the money, but his inherited stupidity managed to reap no benefit from the opportunity. He was forced to leave the area and flee from law enforcement officers, so he travelled to various mines, once again a miner like his father was. Indentured servitude is a system that was introduced to meet the growing demands for inexpensive and abundant slaves in the colonies. Indentured servants were guaranteed freedom and passage to the Americas after completing four to seven years of labor. Many Europeans, specifically the Irish, came to the Caribbean willingly and unwillingly in the eighteenth century. Over one hundred thousand Irish workers were sent to the Caribbean because they were prisoners of war during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms and almost fifty percent of them died before the completion of their contract. Life was difficult in the plantations and they produced cash crops, including sugar, tobacco, and cotton. Indentured servitude was a labor system that attracted workers because of the prospect of a better life and freedom, however most servants died due to the brutal conditions before they were able to gain freedom. Although slavery was abolished in 1830 in Britain, indentured servitude increased in the Caribbean. Indentured servants arrived from India and China, thus Indo Caribbeans form a majority in Guyana. Indian indentured slaves were more common than laborers from other countries, due to their connection with the British government. After the abolishment of slavery, slaves needed work, therefore they also became indentured servants. The plantations offered some food and housing for the workers. In general, indentured servitude increased in the Caribbean after the abolishment of slavery. In 1917, Britain prohibited the system of indentured servitude in the Caribbean. The Federal Election Commission ( Fec ) In 2009, Citizens United, a nonprofit organization, sued the Federal Election Commission (FEC), which led to the controversial Supreme Court case that resulted in the removal of some of the limitations on how corporations can spend money in elections. The Court majority argued that restricting independent political spending is the equivalent of disregarding the right to free speech. However, many Democrats and some Republicans believe that the power and sway of corporations have a corrupting influence on American democracy; even if deals aren t made, the immense concentration of direct contributions from the wealthiest 1 percent of the population gives them an unusual influence over the political system. It is for this reason that almost every Democrat insists on the reversal of Citizens United. President Obama, in his 2010 State of the Union address, reprimanded the Supreme Court justices for their decision. The court, he stated, reversed a century of law that..will open the floodgates for special interests...to spend without limit in our elections (Obama 2010). Democratic lawmakers, activists, and supporters condemned the ruling as a disaster and bad for American democracy (Kroll 2014). However, are the fears and concerns of Democrats valid and justified? While it is true that there has been an increase in independent political spending following the 2010 decision, it is up for debate whether this is just a systematic increase or one that warrants close scrutiny. People come from all over the world to experience Florida s exciting and productive fisheries. Florida is even called the fishing capital of the world. Commercial fishing in Florida has deep historical roots dating all the way back to the 1800s. In some parts of Florida whole towns and economies are centered around the commercial fishing industry. This has led to depleted populations of several fish species in many of these areas. The commercial extraction of large numbers of individuals from targeted marine populations and the inadvertent by catch and habitat damage that results from that extraction have been identified as among the most critical factors currently affecting marine biodiversity ( Brailovskaya 1236) Due to its environmental impacts, there should be more regulation on commercial fishing including stricter size limits, and bag limits on fish. Implementation of bycatch reduction technologies should be required of all commercial fisherman and no fishing zones should be established. Her upbringing and the support that she received from her family assisted her development as a novelist. As she continued to create more literary pieces, Austen received more recognition for her work and eventually became the renowned writer she is today.
