Critical Reflection of the MEssages Presented in “The...
Our belief states are determined by the external factors, for example, perceived complexity and
priming ethics is an interesting subject and everyone lives by their thoughts and their ways. Everyone
lives by a different code. The difference between morality and ethics is that morality is about primary
making the right choices and ethics is proper reasoning. In the essay The ethics of belief by W. K.
Clifford, he argues that if anything on insufficient evidence, then it s unethical. In this essay *I will
defend the hypothesis that if anything doesn t have enough evidence then it is unethical. * I agree with
some of his (don t agree) (agree in some parts) I do not agree nor do I disagree with what Clifford is
trying to portray. I agree that we should have sufficient evidence before making an assumption. But I
don t believe that just because we don t have sufficient evidence it s automatically wrong. I think that
we have to look at the foundations we know and if they re where some reasons to doubt, then I will
doubt the principles. Knowledge does not depend upon things of whose existence I do not yet have
knowledge. All of our ideas come from our impression, which is, come from our sensations or our
perceptions. As a reasonable person we have the capacity to decide which of our desires, if any, we
will act on. Which are moral reason or self interested reason. Rationality should never be subordinated
to or government by our desires. We respect our own rationality and

Large Corporations Essay
LARGE CORPORATIONS MEAN BUSINESS!
ANTHONY J. FRANKO
ENG 122: ENLISH COMPOSITION II
INSTRUCTOR SHANNON BILUNAS
JANUARY 7, 2013
Large corporations such as Wal Mart or Home Depot often come under criticism for putting mom and
pop shops out of business. While this may be a valid criticism, the consumers neglect to realize that
they play the biggest part in shutting these businesses down. Consumers across the country are always
looking for the best deals or the lowest prices, and in most cases the larger corporations are where
products can be found at the lowest price. Many small business owners and the populations of small
towns dislike large corporations moving into the area because they believe it negatively effects the

This leads to a stronger local economy, and ultimately a thriving community. Stores like Wal Mart are
famous for keeping their prices so low. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a grip on the
consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and transport the goods
low. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. found that, an
individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall, shoppers
could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. (Blazier, A, 2004) A major reason they can keep
prices lower than mom and pop run businesses is their ability to buy merchandise in bulk. Buying in
bulk works the same way it does for a consumer. The more of a product that is purchased, the less the
cost is per unit. Consumers see this every day when they go to stores like Sam s Club or Costco. When
they buy their merchandise in bulk, they are able to offer it to the consumer at a lower price. (Kale,
2011) This is what could eventually drive the mom and pop owned businesses out of the area, and
draw a negative criticism from the public. The interesting thing about this criticism is that the public
complains about Wal Mart

How Bodybuilding Has Changed Over Time
Bodybuilding is a form of sport that aims to make the body to be in a great physical condition and also
enhance health. The sport makes both the body and the mind fit and thus, eliminate common health
conditions associated with living sedentary lifestyles. Bodybuilding entails extreme body workout and
training as well as healthy eating to attain the desired physique (Elledge 33). It is believed to decrease
risk factors associated with the development of coronary heart diseases. Through taking part in aerobic
exercises and weight training, people have higher chances of lessening and managing high blood
pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. The process also makes the body muscles strong and flexible
(Cross 41). Bodybuilding has come of ages and has evolved intensively. Its history dates back to late
1800s but the dynamics and objectives of the sport have changed over time. The focus is to analyze
bodybuilding sport of the ancient times and comparing it to the nature of the sport today in terms of
priorities and objectives.
Bodybuilding dates back to the 19th century specifically 1890s when weight training commenced in
the world. The practice took place in Greece and Egypt where people lifted stones purposely to have
huge muscles and physique bodies. However, as an entertaining sport, bodybuilding developed in ...

New City Construction Museum History
I recently took a trip to the New York Transit Museum (NYTM) where I discovered many things.
First, the museum itself is the Court Street station whose line ceased in June 1946. The station had
been abandoned due to slow traffic and remained deserted until the museum opened in 1976. It was
fascinating to see the evolution of train cars and turnstiles from its conception in the early 1900s
compared to what they are like today. Interestingly, in spite of the progression of train cars, the
concept of how the system operated is not much different from how it is done today. The station
remained intact since it was abandoned all those years ago. Various effects such as the signs and the
tower remained unchanged since its commencement in 1936. Additionally, prior to its use for
exhibition, Hollywood took advantage of its desolateness and used it for film production. The taking
of Pelham One Two Three was shot at the station. In addition to learning the museum s history, I also
learned the subway system was built in 1913. The remaining dynamites used for excavation were on
display to demonstrate how tunneling began. The New York transportation system existed much
longer than the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA); it can be traced back to the 1800 when horses
heaved oversize stagecoaches designed to transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to the transitmuseum.com, it began with cable powered service from the West Side and
Yonkers Patent Railway in 1868. After a few short years, steam engines replaced cables in 1871
(NYTM). Joseph Brenna asserts in his article, in 1903, electric replaced the steam locomotives, thus
began the era of the underground (or the subway)

Nathan Hale s Last Words
I only regret that, I have but one life to lose for my country . These were Nathan Hale s last words
before he was hanged by the British army for espionage in 1776. Nathan Hale, born on June 6th, 1755
in Coventry, Connecticut, spent much of his life serving for the public good. After graduating from
Yale University with honors in 1773, he decided to become a teacher and was so for about three years.
However, shortly after Great Britain began imposing a variety of taxes on the colonies in order to pay
off the debt following the French and Indian War, the future Americans came to find themselves
calling for complete independence, beginning the American Revolution. Once the war began, Hale
immediately quit his job and enlisted in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had a job that he liked and he was making a fair amount of money with it. He could have kept this
lifestyle and been very successful. However, he cared so much about the Patriot cause that he decided
to drop everything that he had worked for his whole life and join the revolutionary forces. A little after
a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to realize that he
needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop them. At that moment
he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his rank to act as spies.
However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m willing to fight the British
and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among them in disguise and being taken
and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale stepped in. He disguised himself as a
Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an attempt to find out vital information about
the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of
spying as they were considered to be illegal and if they were caught they could be subject to
execution. This is precisely why Knowlton did not let his ranks partake in this activity. He knew the
risks and how dangerous it was. However, despite Nathan Hale having knowledge of the risks
involved, he put them all aside as he cared about the

Time Management Strengths And Weaknesses
Makena Kane College Recommendation Brag Sheet
Academic Strengths
Time Management: I am a film producer, and the most important quality is being a good time
manager. On sets, the producer is the one who keeps everyone on task and to schedule. Having good
time oriented brain has led me to be more proactive in my studies and outside activities. Actually,
having anxiety is one of the helpful factors in making me keep on top of deadlines. By being so on top
of time, I have never turned in homework late due to how my anxiety does prevent me from
procrastinating.
Adaptive: Being at an art school, and the fact that I have moved about 8 times in my life, I have
learned to be very adaptive. No matter the situation, location, or people I am with, I will be able to
work and figure out the problem. This has helped in times like my 64 Film Festival, where we have to
film a 7 minute film over a weekend. I have to adapt to where we film and what the script is like to
make schedules, and problems happen at a moment s notice. Without being able to adapt, I would not
have be capable of producing now 3 (successful, might I add) films in this festival.
Critical Thinking: One of my best academic strengths I believe is how much I am a critical thinker.
When working on group projects especially, I am usually the one who plans the structure of what is
happening and the best way to achieve the ultimate goal. I have a very analytical mindset, where I
work best with organized to do lists, making it

Air To Bread Machine Analysis
1. With regard to Haber, what does the phrase air to bread machine mean? (p. xvi)
The air to bread machine refers to Haber s process of turning unusable atmospheric nitrogen into fixed
nitrogen that can be used as crop fertilizer. 2. With regard to Haber and with regard to question 1
above, to what does poison from the air refer? (p. xiii)
Poison from the air is nitrogen from the atmosphere that we are using unnaturally; fertilizers run off
into water and have ecological effects and nitrogen was used for chemical warfare in World War I. 3.

Nuclear fission can be used to power the world, or it can be used to destroy it. That scientific
knowledge of the process of fission is neither good nor bad ethically, but the way it is applied can
have ethical and moral consequences. The scientists who developed the fission process are not
responsible for the devastation caused by the atomic bombs; the people who chose to use the science
in that manner are the ones responsible.
5. Who was Sir William Crookes and what did he contribute to the urgency of producing ammonia,
NH3 from nitrogen in the air?
Sir William Crookes became president of the British Academy of Sciences in 1898. Crookes invented
the Crookes tube, a precursor to cathode ray tubes and he is credited with discovering the element
thallium. When he was appointed president of the Academy, he gave a speech in which he said the
human population would be facing mass starvation from food shortage as soon as 1930. He said that
the way to prevent that and ensure the food stability of humankind would be to create a new fertilizer,

Verona Monologue
Yesterday, at approximately 9am, the streets of Verona faced its third civil brawl from two feuding
families: the Capulets and Montagues. Several members from both the Capulet and Montague
household have once again compromised the peace of Verona. What started as a little quarrel between
both houses soon escalated into a full blown battle comprising not only of the aforementioned
households, but also many of the civilians living in Verona. Many were later found dead or severely
injured. What actually started the fight remained unresolved for a long period of time due to the
contrasting statements that were given from both the Capulets and Montagues. However, once the
initial shock of yet another brawl was over, many witnesses have approached the authorities with valid
information. It appears that the fight began when Sampson, a servant of the Capulet household,
provocatively bit his thumb at a group composed of members of the Montague house. ... Show more

Capulets and Montagues have made multiple headlines. Frustrated, Verona s ruler, Prince Escalus,
decided that large measures had to be taken in order to maintain the peace between his people. He
publicly declared that ... if you ever cause a disturbance on our streets again, you ll pay for it with
your lives... and was seen later leaving with Lord Capulet. The declaration has left many of Verona s
citizens on edge and has left many pondering if a silly fray is truly worth their lives. Is this the end, or

Animal Testing Unnecessary
Animal testing has a long history, with great minds such as Aristotle and Copernicus partaking in
order to further their research. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further
their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued that
the use of animal testing in the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical research
that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should now be
considered antiquated. There is technology available today that makes animal testing unnecessary, but
greed has caused major companies to continue testing on animals because it is less expensive than
investing in cruelty free methods. Animals are also used for cosmetic testing, to find which ingredients
and makeup and cosmetics can cause irritation to consumers. Besides the fact that there are other
methods available to find harmful ingredients, testing on animals to further societies own vanity is
cruel and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Testing on animals allows researchers to see how the drug or chemical will fact the entire body at
once. A common argument used in favor is called the Animal Model which essentially says that some
animals have systems that are very similar to human systems. An example would be chimpanzees
whose internal systems are about ninety percent similar to humans, and pig skin is composed of the
nearly the same material as humans (Speaking of Research). However, research has shown that this
model is heavily flawed and does not universally apply to humans. One reason for this is the genetic
diversity between humans, whereas many animals are very similar alleles and are nearly genetically
identical, humans share many different versions of genes and how an individual responds to

Death With Dignity Act Case Study
First, Connecticut pro choice supporters attempted to legalize the Death with Dignity Act three times
since 2013, as they believe competent, terminally ill individuals in Connecticut should have the legal
right to choose medically assisted death. Unfortunately, this legislation has not come to a vote in
Connecticut; however, each time more people are supportive of the bill. The last Quinnipiac
University Poll, completed in March 2015, has shown that by more than a 2 1 margin (63% vs. 31%),
Connecticut voters support allowing doctors to legally prescribe lethal drugs to help terminally ill
patients end their lives (C C, Oregon, 2016). The Death with Dignity Act originated in Oregon, in
1997 with enough support to be the first state to pass the new law. Washington passed a similar law
eleven years later, in 2008. Additionally, Colorado has been the most recent state to have this law
passed on November 8, 2016. All the states have modeled after Oregon s Death with Dignity Act.

Genuine Intrigue In Developmental Biology
Curiosity has recently been revealed to me as my greatest boon. My younger self asked so many
questions, I would sometimes be accosted by others for it. My questioning never stopped, but my
circumstances changed once I entered college. Thereupon I was surrounded by individuals who loved
answering questions. Fortunately, these circumstances have not changed with my transition to
University of Michigan. Academically speaking, my adventurous and skeptical nature allows me to
identify and understand exactly what I intellectually need, and easily contrast that with my wants and
capabilities.

Analysis Of The Article How Animals Keep Their Cool By...
Niki Nino CEDC 703
Fall 2017
It s hard to believe, but the season of fall has been with us since the near end of September, however
many of us haven t seem to put away our summer attire and for good reason too. No one wants to
sweat more than they have to. I say have to because sweating is a part of life. Many creatures get hot,
but the way they stay cool and regulate their temperature varies. In the science article How Animals
Keep Their Cool by Johanna Mayer, she explains how animals have evolved to beat the heat .
Humans are able to regulate their body temperature by sweating. Sweating, also known as perspiration
is explained as the release of a salt based fluid from our sweat glands. As sweat evaporates from the
skin, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer, once more makes this idea simple for all reads to truly comprehend the idea that she has
explained. Mayer wants her readers to imagine running their palm across a surface; i infer a smooth
one, because her imagery she writes is our palms should slide across. The sweat from a cat paw tells
them to grip the floor or couch to avoid sliding across the floor or falling off the couch.
The article does note that horses primary cooling mechanism is panting, like our four legged house
pets, yet it is the horse s snout that helps with the process. Lizards also have a unique way to stay cool,
which can result in moving between warmer and cooler areas or standing still, with its mouth opening.
Lizards tend to open their mouths to allow evaporation to occur. Lizards do not have an internal
mechanism to adjust their body temperature, and must make adjustment to their behavior to cool off.
Butterflies have a similar cool off method compared to lizards because they move into shady areas.
Butterflies can cool themselves while flying too.
Most humans can tolerate being in the heat for long periods of time because we can constantly sweat
to cool ourselves off. This is why there are so many different types of deodorant companies and styles.
Humans have a specific kind of sweat gland called eccrine glands that allows us to cool off. Mayer
states some hypothesis as to why and how did

The Classical Types Of Love
Love is a special emotion that most individuals strives for. Part of a human s nature is to love and long
for another individual. This feeling has existed since the beginning and will continue to exist until the
end. The term love, however, is very broad. To understand more easily what the term means, the
Ancient Greeks came up with three terms to symbolize the three main types of love. The three
classical types of love are very important to understand, as they will continue to exist until the world
ends. The selected poems read reflect three classical types of love.
One type of love that is present in the selected poems is agape love. Agape love is an unconditional
love that is all about sacrifice. Agape love in the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker in this poem shows the highest form of agape love by offering the sacrifice of his life to
defend his country, to which he honors all. Another type of love that is important within the selected
poems is storge love. Storge love is a type of love between family and friends. Two examples of this
kind of love are what parents naturally feel for their children or the love that friends feel for each
other. This kind of love also contains commitment and sacrifice. Storge love is portrayed heavily in
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116. In the poem, Shakespeare explains that love is not just an object or
something that can be played with, but rather it is a commitment one makes to one they love. He also
says that love never alters or withers through a relationship s ups and downs. Shakespeare writes,
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh, no! it is an ever fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken. (ll. 1 8)
Shakespeare uses a metaphor in line seven as he uses a star as an object to follow. He uses the star to
suggest that love is a guide, and that lovers can look to. Shakespeare makes it very clear that storge
love is very passionate, serious, and not to be taken lightly. As written in this poem, storge love is
unconditional

Causes And Failures Of Hurricane Katrina
Katrina Failures
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, multiple failures exposed communication breakdowns, roles and
responsibilities. Civil unrest followed after local law enforcement, abandoned their legal duties.
Historically, the Posse Comitatus Act created barriers. These barriers slowed down the response of
federal support. The President and governor struggled over control of the National Guard. The city of
New Orleans suffered economically and through loss of life. With the pullout of the police, they fell
into a different category that called for implantation of martial law using an outside policing force.
The actions of Governor Blanco are ill prepared at most. Post Katrina in Louisiana was painfully
obvious as the total failure of state and federal government s anger looms towards the revision of an
outdated law.
Actions
The Posse Comitatus Act says that Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly

The Importance Of Culturalization In Africa
In the year 1235 C.E a new empire arose in Africa just after the fall of the strong Ghana years before
this empire, Mali was one of the strongest and wealthiest empires in Africa. Mali was one of the three
strongest and wealthiest empires,it is located in west Africa and above the Niger river. Mali became a
site of cultural exchange because when the people of the north seen their wealth they went to
trade,exchange ideas and share religion.
Mali became a cultural exchange because years before the empire of Mali arised the empire of ghana
was already there it had already attracted people from the north to trade for gold.
The first reason Mali became a site of cultural exchange is because they were the wealthiest empire in
africa located west of africa and people up north started traveling down west africa to trade for gold
and when people from foreign countries come to a new country they will share their culture along with
trading their goods.
According to The Ghana empire by U.C Davis Social Science in the year 2014 it states Mali was one
of three medieval kingdoms that ruled over West Africa. The first empire was Ghana, which was ruled
by a king from the Soninke people and Trade with the Arabs did not create the Ghana empire, but it
certainly made the rulers and merchants of Ghana much richer .These quotes show that Ghana was
one of the strongest and wealthy kingdoms and Mali was one of those strong, wealthy kingdoms and a
cultural exchange site. This proves that Mali was

Figural Statues In Ancient Rome
Rome was a powerful empire that took substantial pleasure in creating lifelike figural statues that they
learned from Greek sculptures. However, their unique eyes caught beauty in the imperfection of the
human form instead of washing them over with idealism. There are many surviving statues that show
just how realism played an important role for Roman artist. Contrary to the Greeks, during the
republic and imperial eras, Rome strived to perfect realism, which one sees with their figural busts and
full standing sculptures.
Firstly, the strive to capture literal details can be seen with the way Romans created their busts for
both men and woman. A bust is a sculpture of just a person s head, neck and chest. Busts were very
popular in Roman times and their focus was creating realistic ... Show more content on

Romans are known for their outstanding lifelike full figure statues that replicate the person flawlessly.
While they created figural sculptors of their emperors to celebrate their victories, they still focused on
actual details rather than erasing their imperfections. The bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius riding
horseback, even weathered as it is, one can see creases carved into both man and horse. As well as,
both look like they were captured in a moment of action, which is depicted with the horses raised hoof

holding the busts of his ancestors. Not only does this show how this was similar to today s
photographs and how important having a bust of a loved one was to the ancient Romans, but the
sculpture itself captures an older gentleman. He was carved to represent who he was at that moment
with balding head and wrinkles. Keeping the sculptures as real looking as possible was a way of
keeping a record of reality and it proved to be extremely important to them

Women As Represented In Society By Anita Kay...
In Men and Women as Represented in Medieval Literature in Society by Anita Kay O Pry Reynolds
Renolds you can find a different way of how women men were supposed to act during the Medieval
time period. She finds evidence from different Medieval works of literatures to help support her thesis.
O Pry Reynolds uses some details from Beowulf, Lancelot, Knight of the Cart, and Sir Gawain and
The Green Knight to show the different gender roles between men and women. The details O Pry
Reynolds finds from the different Medieval literatures in her essay are not supported in The Prologue
to The Canterbury Tales and The Wife of Bath. Anita Kay O Pry Renolds Men and Women as

Chaucer writes about the Women from bath who had five husbands. It was very rare for women to
have more than one husband because they didn t believe in divorce.
Men and women from the middle ages had different roles in society that they had to live up to. The
gender rules they had to abide by was very strict. It was considered not normal to step outside of the
bounds of the gender roles assigned to them. (O Pry Reynolds 41). It was not usual for women to do
the roles of a man and vice versa. Just like in The Prologue to The Canterbury Tales the nun and the
monk would never be caught doing each other s job. The women in middle age were vessels of
chastity, purity, and good ness. This meant that the ladies would not go lay in bed with any and every
man they met. They would find the one and be loyal to him till death. The men during this time would
go on quest to show off how strong they were.
The supporting roles in Medieval literature for men and women had been very different. The men
were always the ones looking for a battle to fight if not n their own village then in other lands. (O Pry
Reynolds 38). Men could only be the heroes in Medieval Literature by who he is, his quest, and his
victories (O Pry Reynolds 37). If this was not the case for some men they could not be heroes. In most
Medieval Literature the women had roles that were just for support. They would be the characters

African Americans During The Reconstruction Era
Even though the voting rights issue did not end with the Reconstruction era, it inspired many African
Americans to rise and to establish a new leadership platform. The enlightenment period of the radical
reconstruction brought a more active role in the political, economic, and social life of the south with
the Republican domination in the 1866 elections; it introduced a new era for African Americans (
Black Leaders ). With the ratification of the 14th and 15th amendments and the spread of political
activism towards African Americans through festive parades, protests, and community meetings,
African Americans challenged themselves with the task of serving in a political office because African
Americans never had a voice to speak for them

Amazon Inc. An American International Electronic Commerce...
Amazon.com Inc is an American international electronic commerce company that started off as an
online book store under the old name of cadabra.com. Under the direction of Jeff Bezos, who
incorporated the company in 1994, Amazon quickly expanded their scopes by selling various other
items, besides just books, in order to create its now famous brand name. Today, Amazon sells
everything from A to Z, hence the brand name, and has taken control of the online shopping market as
the world s leading online retailer in the world (Fabrice Guillaume s e Portfolio, EST 325:

Hinduism Temple Visit Personal Experience Reflection
Hinduism is a religion of religions; it is one of the first as we know it. It isn t just a religion however,
it is a way of life. A culture that India has been known for having. I have discovered that Hinduism is
so much more than a religion or a culture. As a matter of fact it is a way of being; a way of life.
Hinduism has been a journey for me and it all came alive through the need to write this paper. When I
first met up with my host, Devi, I noticed her garments right away. She had her hair down with silver
earrings a shirt that looked like Indian garb. It was White with golden inlay. It was beautiful! She wore
beige leggings and dark flats. Devi had bracelets on both of her wrists too. On her left wrist, there was

It seemed to be symmetrical. I was told that it is symmetrical so that the balance of the chakras and
other energies around are in check and aligned. Devi then asked if she could take some time to
meditate. There were many people doing this in the temple on rugs. I like meditation, but it also gave
me more of a chance to observe everything. The people throughout the temple, did not have a uniform
way of sitting, like the movies perceive monks and meditation. One thing I noticed that was similar
with everyone, was that all arms and legs were inside of the vehicle at all times. No one had any limbs
off the sides of the rugs. The people in the temple who we praying were in a sitting position for the
most part, but I don t know if you could call this a lotus position or not. I know that in yoga, the lotus
position is with the legs intermingled almost in a cross legged form fashion, with the arms out and
placed on the knees. When we were finished with this, Devi showed me a place in the temple where
they had a chimney and a fire blazing. Fire is the most powerful of the elements in the Hindi culture.
The fire is a reminder to us, that the fire can purify and can also destroy us. This is why it is
considered to be the most powerful. Devi said that after her son, Rishi, was born, the family had a
ceremony with fire to represent him coming into the world. Rishi s youth and innocence were pure
like the fire, and any impurities were to burn away in the

Reflective Essay On Community Service
When I think about service and how I can play a role in it, I think about community service. Since I
have been at Bethany I have been in a couple of different organizations and community service is
always a major focus. Right now, I am the active Pledge Master for the fraternity, Gamma Kappa
Alpha. By being in this leadership position I am obligated to help out the community and try to make
the people in my organization the best that they can be. There are multiple services that we provide for
the community, such as, volunteering for churches, helping out with residents yard care and going to
the retirement home to talk to and comfort the people who are living there. As of right now, our frat is
on probation, because last year we didn t meet the community requirements set by the school. Since
we are on probation and I am now a leader in the organization, I have been a part of setting up a more
activities and services that will help out the community. The other leaders of the frat and I have
worked hard on finding events that will help out the community to the best of our abilities. Since we
are a low budget organization, we had to come up with ideas that we could spend our time to help out
others rather than other options such as money and donations. I think that this helps our members
because not all of them quite understand the importance doing work for minimal benefits yet. With my
term as a leader in this organization, I hope that I can get the point across that helping

Pistol Creek Biodiversity Report
Biodiversity
Biodiversity or biological diversity is extremely important at Pistol Creek, and in other areas; this
boosts the ecosystem s energy where species can cause change in a positive or negative way. A healthy
biodiversity has a number of natural services for everyone such as: ecosystem services, biological
resources, and social benefits including research and education. Not only is this biodiversity helping
humans in many different ways, this is also a cooperation between organisms which offers a balanced
ecosystem.
Pistol Creek pH levels In fact, the scientific community UTU says pH levels may be a way to

acidity or basicity of the solution. The letters pH stand for power of hydrogen and the numerical value
is defined as the negative base of concentration of hydrogen ions. Utah State University says that a

The Three Types Of Drama In Ancient Greek Drama
Ancient Greeks used drama as a way of investigating the world they lived in. There are three genres of
drama: comedy, satyr plays, and most important of all, tragedy. Greek tragedy and Greek comedy
formed the cornerstone of modern theatre.
While comedy was mainly a way to mock men in power for their vanity and foolishness and satyr
plays on the other hand were short plays performed between the acts of tragedies and made fun of the
plight of the tragedy s characters, tragedy dealt with the big themes of love, loss, pride, the abuse of
power and the fraught relationships between men and gods.
Tragedy is a form of theatre with poetic elements, which was originated from Ancient Greece and it
reached its most significant form in Athens in the 5th century BC. Although, the tragic plots presented
in Greek tragedy were based on myths from the oral traditions of archaic epics, they were presented
by actors. The most important authors or as they also called playwrights of Greek tragedies were

Even the death of a character was not allowed to be seen and it had to be heard from offstage. In
addition to this, the poet was not allowed to make comments or political statements through the play.
This gap was to be filled later by a less strict form of play, the Ancient Greek Comedy.
At the early years of Ancient Greek tragedy, the plays, which started in the morning and ended in the
evening, had only one male actor, who performed wearing a costume and a mask. The actor was
speaking to Corypheus, the leader of a group of 12 to 15 actors, called chorus that was only allowed to
sing and dance. Eventually, the number of actors was increased to three, no matter how many
characters were in the play. Each actor, after playing one character had to switch his mask and his his
costume and then reappear on stage as a different character.

Genetic Counselor Career Essay
Genetic counseling is the job path I want to take when I am older. This profession has a tough price to

a daily task for genetic counselors, but the job also has great pay, credibility, and work conditions. If I
were to go into this field, it will not only be suitable, it will be enjoyable. Becoming a genetic
counselor requires a lot of prep in college and tertiary levels of education, but this career is worthy
because of the credibility and enjoyment of the field. The definition of genetic counseling is, an
educational counseling process for individuals and families who have a genetic disease or may be at

Why Is Henry V A Good King
Henry V was a man of little morals and an aspiration to be a great king, meaning he had to leave the
concept of being a good person far behind him. Henry V is well known for his invasion of France and
being underestimated, but what is not often talked about is the internal struggle that he faced when he
took the throne. It is clear when analyzing the events that he chooses to be a good king over the latter
and this meant having to make some terrible decisions, including the murder of his friend. When
looking at Henry s upbringing, his rise to the throne, and his reign, the events can be seen as to how
Henry chose being a good king over being a good man. Henry s upbringing was not like a normal
child s in today s age would have been. It is his subjectivity that paid the price as the result of being
shaped by a father who was not afraid of murder. When Henry was first born, he was of no real ...

A Comparison Between Matthew and Mark in the Bible Essay
A Comparison between Matthew and Mark
While both books of Mark and Matthew portray Peter as one of the most important followers of Jesus,
Mark seems to emphasize Jesus spiritual career unlike the broad, more in depth pursuit of Jesus life
that Matthew embellishes on. As both Jesus student and friend, Peter is the one disciple most
commonly referred to in the stories. Yet the two passages seem to draw different pictures of Jesus
distinguished disciple. In Matthew, Peter seems to play a larger role in Jesus teachings and seems
more significant to Jesus throughout the book. In Mark, he is still important, but to a lesser extent in
the eyes of the author. Mark leaves Peter out of a few of the stories altogether and only touches ...

Yet only in Matthew does Peter have a role in the story. Upon seeing Jesus on the water, he calls out,
Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water (Mt. 14.28). He almost succeeds, yet he
suddenly gives in to fear and begins sinking. Jesus scolds him by saying, You of little faith, why do
you doubt? (14.31). This draws a strange picture of Peter. He no longer simply listens to Jesus, but
tries to become actively involved in his teacher s lessons. This idea is again shown in Matthew 15.15.
After the parable of the blind leading the blind, Peter asks, Explain this parable to us. Jesus replies
with a rather impatient remark, but dives a little further into the meaning. He often comes to Jesus
with questions throughout Matthew and these questions always ask for clear definitions of stories or
truths about some spiritual detail. Many times Jesus snaps a little at him, but Peter obviously is not
swayed by any impatience his teacher bestows. This seems to paint a closer relationship between the
two men, where Peter is not afraid of Jesus and Jesus is not simply polite to Peter, as teachers tend to
be. Jesus obvious favoritism of Peter, shown in the transfiguration and throughout the gospel, leads
one to believe that the two are indeed close friends with trust and mutual respect, which allows them
to be freer with their words to one another. Friends tend to be less polite and more open with

Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of Management...
Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations school of
management
The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with the structure and
the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the achievement of an effective
organization were seen to be the issues such as the establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the
division of work, and the span of control.
The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific, bureaucratic and
administrative management.

Offices are highly specialized. Appointments to these offices are made according to specialized
qualifications rather than ascribed criteria. All of these ideal characteristics have one goal, to promote
the efficient attainment of the organization s goals.
Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy, that he
believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have pronounced Weber wrong because
bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals . Others have even claimed that Weber invented
bureaucratic organization. But Weber described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more
accurately describes their growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy
still form the core of organizational sociology.
Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening in the modern
world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional authority, Rational legal
authority and Charismatic authority.
Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be used by
managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This theory was developed by
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with administrative responsibilities, which lead to

that he was the only one who was brave and crazy enough to leave the rez.... The only one with
enough arrogance (Alexie, 2009, p. 217). Although part of his self image is still tied to his tribe,
Arnold sees himself as independent from them. He has a sense of who he is from his choice to leave
the reservation and the qualities that allowed him to do so. The experiences Arnold encountered along
the way such as exclusion, individuals with highly independent self construals, and the deaths of his

Matsumoto and Juang (2013) describe identity as the way individuals understand themselves and are
recognized, while collective identity is more specifically about people s association with social
categories (p. 357). Identity is considered fluid as it can change depending on the situation, its players,
and each individual s point of view (Matsumoto Juang, 2013, pp.357 358). This explains how Arnold s
identity appears to morph throughout the book . For instance, Arnold s early identification as a poor

The Usage Of Proper English
1.) I think it is important to strive for both the usage of proper English and to present good ideas as a
criteria for academic papers or in an academic setting. The reason I am convinced that usage of proper
English creates clearer communication is because of my experience in the business world. Through
schooling I have learned how to speak and write better and use words that pertain to the business I
practiced. I have worked in the teaching profession and have experienced what happens when a parent
does not have a clear idea of the educational goals the teach and school has for their child, or the
overall goals that the particular school holds as valuable. I taught in a Montessori School and
Montessori has a particular educational model that each school follows to a certain degree. It is the
owner s prerogative to determine how closely they follow the Montessori Method. Therefore, as a
parent there are several things to be concerned with. 1.) What model did Maria Montessori use? 2.) To
what degree does the school follow the Montessori Method. 3.) Do I understand and agree with the
educational process 4.) What are the goals the Montessori teacher is setting for my child? Therefore,
clear communication is essential in business. .As stated in the article by Exforsys. Why Speaking
Proper English is Important for Your Career. June.6,2007 A number of studies have consistently

Ethnic Conflicts And Its Effects On Post Colonial Societies
Today, it is hard to imagine how only sixty years ago the world was dominated by European empires.
In 1921, 84 percent of the earth s surface had been colonised since the sixteenth century. There were
as many as 168 colonies. By the 1960s, after years of fighting, most Western colonial territories had
gained independence. The following decades showed how much the ghost of colonisation still loomed
over post colonial societies though. Around the world today, conflict is found in many areas that were
once colonised or controlled by Western European powers. The cause of many of these continuing and
uncontrollable conflicts lies in past colonial policies, especially those regarding territorial boundaries,
the treatment of indigenous people, the privileging of some groups over others, the unequal
distribution of wealth and resources, local governmental infrastructures, and the formation of non
democratic or non participatory governmental systems. It is therefore essential, if one wants to
understand the causes of these ethnic conflicts, to examine not only the contemporary issues, but also
important historical factors such as past colonial policies and their lingering effects. Colonisation was
motivated by the European hunger for African resources. The subsequent exploitation of the African
people and the uprooting of their spiritual values by Christian missionaries would leave a permanent
European stamp on the continent. Colonial states often promoted ethnic rivalry by

Abel s Proof Of The Insolvability Of Algebra
Niels Henrik is perhaps the greatest mathematician to have come from Norway. Though his father was
a philosophy teacher, he and Abel s mother managed to acquire a large amount of debt due to
scrupulous spending. Thus, much of Abel s youth was spent well acquainted in poverty. His poverty
continued to adulthood when his father died, and his studies had to be supported by his professors and
through the Norwegian government. Before his university, he was granted a fellowship to travel and
study and Europe, and the year and a half which he spent in Germany, Italy, and France was one of the
happiest periods in his life. Yet, upon return to Norway, Abel could only attain temporary positions.
The last years of his life were beset by many difficulties, but it was during this period of poverty and
struggle that he developed his most famous proof of the insolvability of the quintic function. Though
he died tragically young at twenty seven, before any recognition, by tuberculosis, he left a bountiful
legacy for mathematics. It was not until his death that the world became aware of his genius, for his
proof of the insolvability of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the function had in origins in Babylonian and Arabic times, the cubic and quartic equations
had been solved by 1600 by the Italians Cardano and Ferrari, respectively. Thus, following this line of
thought, it seemed likely that the quintic equation could be solved through rational operations and
extraction of the fifth root. Yet, despite much effort of from some of the best mathematicians in the
world of the time, no solution was found for over two and one half centuries, and the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries witnessed a multitude of ineffectual attempts at solve the general equation of fifth
degree by radicals. Abel had thought he found a rational resolution in school, but after reexamination,

Analysis Of The Book The Of Mice And Men
Jake slowed his stride and took a deep breath, easing the sharp burn below his ribcage. The bloodstain
and the hole in his shirt reflected the bullet s damage. It had nicked him good, but he figured he d still
fared better than Duvall. The outlaw required doctoring and he d probably head to the nearest town.
Jake needed to warn the sheriff, but first, his obligation went to the civilian who d trod into a gunfight
he knew nothing about. For that, Jake owed him the decency to make sure he wasn t hurt. He
grimaced at the delay and closed the distance between him and the boy.
Much obliged. Damn outlaws ambushed me.
His savior, much taller than Jake initially thought, slanted his chin upwards, his wide brimmed hat
cloaking his eyes.
Jake moved in closer. Most people wouldn t pick sides. I m lucky you did. He extended his hand. Are
you hurt?
No. The wiry boy dodged his hand and scooted back, bumping his hat brim on the tree trunk. The hat
slipped off center and dropped to the ground.
What the hell? He stared at a woman s soft face. What was she doing out here? Out of duty, he d hung
back to check on the boy. Not that it mattered one way or another. The name s Jake Fontaine.
She swallowed and reclaimed the hat, placing it on her head. Kat . . . Katlin Collins.
You hit his leg. You need to work on your aim. He turned toward the trail the gunmen had taken. Now
that he d thanked her, he could get on his way. What was he waiting for? His job was to find a
murderer.

Human Health Care System Is On The Brink Of Collapse
The Philippines has provided the world with skilled medical professionals for decades. But as more
and more workers abandon the Philippines for higher salaries abroad, public health experts say the
country s health care system is on the brink of collapse. Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan
This above quote is from a former Philippine health secretary commented about the brain drain crisis
regarding the health professionals, occurring right now in the Philippines. The phenomenon known as
the brain drain is the emigration of skilled, intelligent and highly skilled personnel from a country. The
Philippines have been exporting medical professionals since the early 1960 s and this has been an
issue ever since. Due to increase in migration of nurses and doctors, the Philippines medical
development has stalled for many years and one can even state that their medical quality has dropped
dramatically. (Philippine Medical Brain Drain) It is important to note that the government is
responsible for the brain drain of medical professionals in the Philippines and they have failed to
improve the living quality and payment of these medics. As a result of this, these doctors and nurses
chose to move to a more developed country for better living condition and better pay. Even though the
Philippines are gaining profit from brain drain of these medical professionals, the negatives of this
crisis covers up the positives. Furthermore, evidence has shown that the brain drain is more harmful

Use Of Cloud Computing Technology On Business And...
Chapter 3: The use of cloud computing technology in business and educational organizations. In this
chapter, the researcher describes how the businesses and educational organizations use cloud
computing technology and how they benefit from using it. In addition, the researcher also covers the
advantages of cloud computing from an economic perspective. Then, the researcher will give an
explanation of how cloud computing technology relates toward intercultural communication in the
organization. The last point the researcher will discuss is the information technology rules of cloud
computing for firms and educational organizations by governing cloud computing in the institution.
3.1 Cloud computing for commercial organizations For commercial organizations, cloud computing
does not mean putting all data information in virtual storage on the Internet network such as iCloud,
which is serviced by the Apple Company. Cloud computing in commercial organization means the
firm and business to gain lower barriers to entry into business because of cost effectiveness in IT, the
ability can grow faster, the significant scalability and flexibility of IT bases and cloud services. On the
other hand, the cloud computing technology is not a miracle service, which always benefits every
business (Colt, 2014, n.p.g.). Consequently, any commercial organization has to consider the different
needs, of a company 3.1.1. Cloud computing technology use in business Cloud computing is Internet

The Vase Told The Story Of Herakles And The Boar
For this writing assignment, I was given the Attic Black figure Lekythos. The vase told the story of
Herakles and the boar. The Lekythos is a cylindrical vase. The base color of the vase is orange. The
ink used turned black from when it was heated. The vase still contains most of the story; however, a
lot of the vase is faded. At the base of the vase, it gradually curves in. There is a solid line going
horizontally across the bottom of the vase. This line takes up half of the base. It is a more tan color
because clay is pale and faded. At the top part of the base, it is hard to tell what was originally there. It
looks like it was just a solid black color, but a lot of the ink has faded off. On the right, the ink is
completely gone. The rest of the base has spots where the ink is fade. Above the base is the face of the
vase. This is where the story is shown. From the base, it curves out. Here it seems like it was supposed
to be completely black, but it has the same problem the base has. The right side is faded out, and the
left side has multiple spots were the ink has faded off. Once it reaches an inch below the story, it stops
curving out. There is a thin orange horizontal line going across. It looks to accurate to be from the ink
fading. The artist must have come back in and made the line. Then there is a black horizontal line
bigger than the orange line. The ink here has faded, though, leaving orange spots scattered throughout.

Ppb Case Study
Researches involving the use of association between legumes and PGPBs (Plant Growth Promoting
Bacteria) in heavy metals phytoremediation process were mainly performed for soils highly
contaminated. However, even in agriculture soils, with moderate or low contamination levels, plants
can accumulate high rates of heavy metals. So, food chain contamination by these metals presents a
real thread to animal and human health.
This work aimed to evaluate the use of two legumes/PGPBs symbiosis; Vicia faba minor and Sulla
coronaria, inoculated with specific heavy metals resistant inocula, in a crop rotation system with
Lactuca sativa L. as a following crop, in order to assess their effects on soil fertility, lettuce yield and

2015). Yet, agricultural soils are moderately contaminated by heavy metals due to a long term of
phosphoric fertilizers use, sewage sludge application, dust from smelters, industrial waste and
unsuitable watering practices (Yadav 2010). Soil contamination is mainly located in areas of large
industrial activities, where surrounding agricultural areas are affected by atmospheric deposition of
heavy metals (Puschenreiter et al. 2005). In these areas, agriculture faces a major problem due to
heavy metal transfer into crops and subsequently into the food chain (Puschenreiter et al. 2005). The
main problem is that heavy metals are non biodegradable, and their excessive accumulation in
agricultural soils could pose a risk to public health (Liu et al. 2012). Thereby, people pay increased
attention to food safety because of increasing environmental contamination (Yu et al. 2014). The
major route by which humans are exposed to these contaminants is through the soil crop food pathway
(Liu et al. 2012). Crops growing on contaminated sites can take up and accumulate these metals,
causing health problems when consumed by humans and animals (Fu et al., 2008). Therefore, the
prolonged consumption of unsafe concentrations of heavy metals may lead to the disruption of
numerous biological and biochemical processes in the human body (Balkhair and Ashraf 2015).
Furthermore, heavy metals

Our belief states are determined by the external factors, for example, perceived complexity and priming ethics is an interesting subject and everyone lives by their thoughts and their ways. Everyone lives by a different code. The difference between morality and ethics is that morality is about primary making the right choices and ethics is proper reasoning. In the essay The ethics of belief by W. K. Clifford, he argues that if anything on insufficient evidence, then it s unethical. In this essay *I will defend the hypothesis that if anything doesn t have enough evidence then it is unethical. * I agree with some of his (don t agree) (agree in some parts) I do not agree nor do I disagree with what Clifford is trying to portray. I agree that we should have sufficient evidence before making an assumption. But I don t believe that just because we don t have sufficient evidence it s automatically wrong. I think that we have to look at the foundations we know and if they re where some reasons to doubt, then I will doubt the principles. Knowledge does not depend upon things of whose existence I do not yet have knowledge. All of our ideas come from our impression, which is, come from our sensations or our perceptions. As a reasonable person we have the capacity to decide which of our desires, if any, we will act on. Which are moral reason or self interested reason. • 3. Large Corporations Essay LARGE CORPORATIONS MEAN BUSINESS! ANTHONY J. FRANKO ENG 122: ENLISH COMPOSITION II INSTRUCTOR SHANNON BILUNAS JANUARY 7, 2013 Large corporations such as Wal Mart or Home Depot often come under criticism for putting mom and pop shops out of business. While this may be a valid criticism, the consumers neglect to realize that they play the biggest part in shutting these businesses down. Consumers across the country are always looking for the best deals or the lowest prices, and in most cases the larger corporations are where products can be found at the lowest price. Many small business owners and the populations of small towns dislike large corporations moving into the area because they believe it negatively effects the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leads to a stronger local economy, and ultimately a thriving community. Stores like Wal Mart are famous for keeping their prices so low. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a grip on the consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and transport the goods low. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. found that, an individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall, shoppers could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. (Blazier, A, 2004) A major reason they can keep prices lower than mom and pop run businesses is their ability to buy merchandise in bulk. Buying in bulk works the same way it does for a consumer. The more of a product that is purchased, the less the cost is per unit. Consumers see this every day when they go to stores like Sam s Club or Costco. When they buy their merchandise in bulk, they are able to offer it to the consumer at a lower price. (Kale, 2011) This is what could eventually drive the mom and pop owned businesses out of the area, and draw a negative criticism from the public. The interesting thing about this criticism is that the public complains about Wal Mart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Bodybuilding Has Changed Over Time Bodybuilding is a form of sport that aims to make the body to be in a great physical condition and also enhance health. The sport makes both the body and the mind fit and thus, eliminate common health conditions associated with living sedentary lifestyles. Bodybuilding entails extreme body workout and training as well as healthy eating to attain the desired physique (Elledge 33). It is believed to decrease risk factors associated with the development of coronary heart diseases. Through taking part in aerobic exercises and weight training, people have higher chances of lessening and managing high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. • 5. New City Construction Museum History I recently took a trip to the New York Transit Museum (NYTM) where I discovered many things. First, the museum itself is the Court Street station whose line ceased in June 1946. The station had been abandoned due to slow traffic and remained deserted until the museum opened in 1976. It was fascinating to see the evolution of train cars and turnstiles from its conception in the early 1900s compared to what they are like today. Interestingly, in spite of the progression of train cars, the concept of how the system operated is not much different from how it is done today. The station remained intact since it was abandoned all those years ago. Various effects such as the signs and the tower remained unchanged since its commencement in 1936. Additionally, prior to its use for exhibition, Hollywood took advantage of its desolateness and used it for film production. The taking of Pelham One Two Three was shot at the station. In addition to learning the museum s history, I also learned the subway system was built in 1913. The remaining dynamites used for excavation were on display to demonstrate how tunneling began. Nathan Hale, born on June 6th, 1755 in Coventry, Connecticut, spent much of his life serving for the public good. After graduating from Yale University with honors in 1773, he decided to become a teacher and was so for about three years. A little after a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to realize that he needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop them. At that moment he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his rank to act as spies. However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m willing to fight the British and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among them in disguise and being taken and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale stepped in. He disguised himself as a Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an attempt to find out vital information about the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of spying as they were considered to be illegal and if they were caught they could be subject to execution. Time Management Strengths And Weaknesses Makena Kane College Recommendation Brag Sheet Academic Strengths Time Management: I am a film producer, and the most important quality is being a good time manager. On sets, the producer is the one who keeps everyone on task and to schedule. Having good time oriented brain has led me to be more proactive in my studies and outside activities. Actually, having anxiety is one of the helpful factors in making me keep on top of deadlines. By being so on top of time, I have never turned in homework late due to how my anxiety does prevent me from procrastinating. Adaptive: Being at an art school, and the fact that I have moved about 8 times in my life, I have learned to be very adaptive. No matter the situation, location, or people I am with, I will be able to work and figure out the problem. This has helped in times like my 64 Film Festival, where we have to film a 7 minute film over a weekend. I have to adapt to where we film and what the script is like to make schedules, and problems happen at a moment s notice. Without being able to adapt, I would not have be capable of producing now 3 (successful, might I add) films in this festival. Critical Thinking: One of my best academic strengths I believe is how much I am a critical thinker. • 24. Reflective Essay On Community Service When I think about service and how I can play a role in it, I think about community service. Since I have been at Bethany I have been in a couple of different organizations and community service is always a major focus. Right now, I am the active Pledge Master for the fraternity, Gamma Kappa Alpha. By being in this leadership position I am obligated to help out the community and try to make the people in my organization the best that they can be. There are multiple services that we provide for the community, such as, volunteering for churches, helping out with residents yard care and going to the retirement home to talk to and comfort the people who are living there. As of right now, our frat is on probation, because last year we didn t meet the community requirements set by the school. Since we are on probation and I am now a leader in the organization, I have been a part of setting up a more activities and services that will help out the community. The other leaders of the frat and I have worked hard on finding events that will help out the community to the best of our abilities. Since we are a low budget organization, we had to come up with ideas that we could spend our time to help out others rather than other options such as money and donations. I think that this helps our members because not all of them quite understand the importance doing work for minimal benefits yet. With my term as a leader in this organization, I hope that I can get the point across that helping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The Three Types Of Drama In Ancient Greek Drama Ancient Greeks used drama as a way of investigating the world they lived in. There are three genres of drama: comedy, satyr plays, and most important of all, tragedy. Greek tragedy and Greek comedy formed the cornerstone of modern theatre. While comedy was mainly a way to mock men in power for their vanity and foolishness and satyr plays on the other hand were short plays performed between the acts of tragedies and made fun of the plight of the tragedy s characters, tragedy dealt with the big themes of love, loss, pride, the abuse of power and the fraught relationships between men and gods. Tragedy is a form of theatre with poetic elements, which was originated from Ancient Greece and it reached its most significant form in Athens in the 5th century BC. At the early years of Ancient Greek tragedy, the plays, which started in the morning and ended in the evening, had only one male actor, who performed wearing a costume and a mask. The actor was speaking to Corypheus, the leader of a group of 12 to 15 actors, called chorus that was only allowed to sing and dance. • 35. A Comparison Between Matthew and Mark in the Bible Essay A Comparison between Matthew and Mark While both books of Mark and Matthew portray Peter as one of the most important followers of Jesus, Mark seems to emphasize Jesus spiritual career unlike the broad, more in depth pursuit of Jesus life that Matthew embellishes on. As both Jesus student and friend, Peter is the one disciple most commonly referred to in the stories. Yet the two passages seem to draw different pictures of Jesus distinguished disciple. In Matthew, Peter seems to play a larger role in Jesus teachings and seems more significant to Jesus throughout the book. In Mark, he is still important, but to a lesser extent in the eyes of the author. Mark leaves Peter out of a few of the stories altogether and only touches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet only in Matthew does Peter have a role in the story. Upon seeing Jesus on the water, he calls out, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water (Mt. 14.28). He almost succeeds, yet he suddenly gives in to fear and begins sinking. Jesus scolds him by saying, You of little faith, why do you doubt? (14.31). This draws a strange picture of Peter. He no longer simply listens to Jesus, but tries to become actively involved in his teacher s lessons. This idea is again shown in Matthew 15.15. After the parable of the blind leading the blind, Peter asks, Explain this parable to us. Jesus replies with a rather impatient remark, but dives a little further into the meaning. He often comes to Jesus with questions throughout Matthew and these questions always ask for clear definitions of stories or truths about some spiritual detail. Many times Jesus snaps a little at him, but Peter obviously is not swayed by any impatience his teacher bestows. This seems to paint a closer relationship between the two men, where Peter is not afraid of Jesus and Jesus is not simply polite to Peter, as teachers tend to be. Jesus obvious favoritism of Peter, shown in the transfiguration and throughout the gospel, leads one to believe that the two are indeed close friends with trust and mutual respect, which allows them to be freer with their words to one another. The reason I am convinced that usage of proper English creates clearer communication is because of my experience in the business world. Through schooling I have learned how to speak and write better and use words that pertain to the business I practiced. I have worked in the teaching profession and have experienced what happens when a parent does not have a clear idea of the educational goals the teach and school has for their child, or the overall goals that the particular school holds as valuable. In 1921, 84 percent of the earth s surface had been colonised since the sixteenth century. There were as many as 168 colonies. By the 1960s, after years of fighting, most Western colonial territories had gained independence. The following decades showed how much the ghost of colonisation still loomed over post colonial societies though. Around the world today, conflict is found in many areas that were once colonised or controlled by Western European powers. The cause of many of these continuing and uncontrollable conflicts lies in past colonial policies, especially those regarding territorial boundaries, the treatment of indigenous people, the privileging of some groups over others, the unequal distribution of wealth and resources, local governmental infrastructures, and the formation of non democratic or non participatory governmental systems. It is therefore essential, if one wants to understand the causes of these ethnic conflicts, to examine not only the contemporary issues, but also important historical factors such as past colonial policies and their lingering effects. The subsequent exploitation of the African people and the uprooting of their spiritual values by Christian missionaries would leave a permanent European stamp on the continent. • 45. The Vase Told The Story Of Herakles And The Boar For this writing assignment, I was given the Attic Black figure Lekythos. The vase told the story of Herakles and the boar. The Lekythos is a cylindrical vase. The base color of the vase is orange. The ink used turned black from when it was heated. The vase still contains most of the story; however, a lot of the vase is faded. At the base of the vase, it gradually curves in. There is a solid line going horizontally across the bottom of the vase. This line takes up half of the base. It is a more tan color because clay is pale and faded. At the top part of the base, it is hard to tell what was originally there. It looks like it was just a solid black color, but a lot of the ink has faded off. On the right, the ink is completely gone. The rest of the base has spots where the ink is fade. Above the base is the face of the vase. This is where the story is shown. From the base, it curves out. Here it seems like it was supposed to be completely black, but it has the same problem the base has. The right side is faded out, and the left side has multiple spots were the ink has faded off. Once it reaches an inch below the story, it stops curving out. There is a thin orange horizontal line going across. It looks to accurate to be from the ink fading. The artist must have come back in and made the line. Then there is a black horizontal line bigger than the orange line. The ink here has faded, though, leaving orange spots scattered throughout. On top of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Ppb Case Study Researches involving the use of association between legumes and PGPBs (Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria) in heavy metals phytoremediation process were mainly performed for soils highly contaminated. However, even in agriculture soils, with moderate or low contamination levels, plants can accumulate high rates of heavy metals. So, food chain contamination by these metals presents a real thread to animal and human health. This work aimed to evaluate the use of two legumes/PGPBs symbiosis; Vicia faba minor and Sulla coronaria, inoculated with specific heavy metals resistant inocula, in a crop rotation system with Lactuca sativa L. as a following crop, in order to assess their effects on soil fertility, lettuce yield and heavy metals content. ... Yet, agricultural soils are moderately contaminated by heavy metals due to a long term of phosphoric fertilizers use, sewage sludge application, dust from smelters, industrial waste and unsuitable watering practices (Yadav 2010). Soil contamination is mainly located in areas of large industrial activities, where surrounding agricultural areas are affected by atmospheric deposition of heavy metals (Puschenreiter et al. 2005). In these areas, agriculture faces a major problem due to heavy metal transfer into crops and subsequently into the food chain (Puschenreiter et al. 2005). The main problem is that heavy metals are non biodegradable, and their excessive accumulation in agricultural soils could pose a risk to public health (Liu et al. 2012). Thereby, people pay increased attention to food safety because of increasing environmental contamination (Yu et al. 2014). The major route by which humans are exposed to these contaminants is through the soil crop food pathway (Liu et al. 2012). Crops growing on contaminated sites can take up and accumulate these metals, causing health problems when consumed by humans and animals (Fu et al., 2008). Therefore, the prolonged consumption of unsafe concentrations of heavy metals may lead to the disruption of numerous biological and biochemical processes in the human body (Balkhair and Ashraf 2015). Furthermore, heavy metals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Compare And Contrast Gothic Elements In Dr Fbeth In this essay I will identify and discuss two corresponding Gothic elements that are present in the play, Dr Faustus and the film, The Devil s Advocate. I will also refer to how these elements add to the abjection of the main character. The corresponding Gothic elements that I will use is Evil Deeds Leading to the Downfall of a character and also Passion Drive, Willful Villain Hero or Villain. In the play Dr Faustus; Faustus is a clever scholar from Germany, whose desire for knowledge and wealth makes him eager to pay the final price; his soul; to Lucifer to trade for supernatural powers. In the beginning Faustus s greatness is dismissed by the fact that he never seems fully sure of his decision to surrender his soul and wonders the whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
