Introduction In the following report we will be going over our analysis and findings during the process
of our study of Sainsbury s internal and external environment. Sainsburys is currently the second
largest chain of supermarkets within the UK, with a current supermarket sector share of 16.9%.
Sainsbury s was founded in 1869 and today operates in over 1,200 supermarket and convenience

Growing Interest of Business Ethics
Introduction:
There is an augmented interest in the business ethics for the past ten years. This escalating interest and
desire to understand better ethical performance and decision making led to the development of many
models research hard work especially about the ethical environment and ethical cultural concepts.
Many models concerning these concepts refers that ethical environment in effected by the individual
characteristics and appropriate factors like values, codes, rules, organizational form etc. One of the
most important factors in the organization explicit factors regarding ethics is leader behavior because
leaders are seen accountable for motivating moral values and ethical standards in their subordinates
(Dickson et al., 2001; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More comprehensive and complex evaluation of the scales measuring ethical acuity was presented by
Vitell and Ho (1997). Just not liking a product and service would not be considered unethical. E.g. if
parking lot is full it is not considered to be unethical behavior of the business it will be when business
had misleading promises that convenient parking lot will always be available. Different corporate
scandals have established the necessitate of corporate interior codes enlargement to apply on the
members of Board of Directors and top administration in order to espouse standing, ethical
performance, and uprightness of companies (Aldama, 2003; Australian Stock Exchange, 2003; Higgs,
2003; New York Stock Exchange, 2003; OECD, 2004). It is become indispensable to affirm the
behavior of all other worker by adopting a code of ethics (Australian Stock Exchange, 2003;
Independent Directors Association and the Russian Institute of Directors, 2004; International
Federation of Accountants, 2007; Investment and Financial Services Association Limited, 2003; New
York Stock Exchange, 2003). Business ethics is one of the factors in the corporate social
conscientiousness (Carroll, 1991; Schwartz and Carroll, 2003), and corporate ascendancy has a

The Collective Activity Was The Dawn Of American Imperialism
The topic I examined in the collective activity was the Dawn of American Imperialism. The dawn of
American imperialism was a time of expansion and also a time of war and racism. During this time
America was increasing its power by gaining control over other areas of the world (Merriam Webster).
America was fighting a war in the Philippines to take control because Americans thought Filipinos
could not govern themselves and were uneducated. Also America was trying to annex Hawaii even
though the majority of Hawaiians were against the annexation. During this time people and companies
such as Josiah strong, Rudard Kipling and Pearl s soap were spreading racism and the belief that
Anglo Saxons were a superior race and should impress its institutions upon man kind (Josiah Strong,
Our Country ). There were many primary sources that I consulted while studying my topic. In the text
Voices of Freedom by Eric Foner I read about and studied the views of Josiah strong, Emilio
Aguinaldo and Rudard Kipling. I studied an article titled The 1897 Petitions Protesting Annexation by
Noenoe K. Silva from the University of Hawaii library website. I also studied two images in chapter
17 of Foner, Eric. Give Me Liberty! Online. The first image was titled A Trifle Embarrassed and the
second image was a Pears Soap ad image titled The White Man s Burden Josiah strong was a
Protestant Christian minister who wrote a book titled Our Country In 1885. In his book Josiah Strong

How Did George 2 Influence The Arts
George II was a very wealthy aristocrat born on April 2nd, 1926 to Bernard II, the Duke of Saxe
Meiningen. George II was a devoted art enthusiast and studied art throughout his entire life, and was
very successful with the works he was involved in including his own company. The Duke of Saxe
Meiningen was very fond of being the leader and taking control of everything he touched, including
the Meiningen Company which he served as many of the top leading role, where eventually he
established the director s role in a production. George II not only inspired our youth, he created the
idea of realistic theatre, creation of a director, these alone show just how much of a influence George
II, the Duke of Saxe Meiningen was on the arts and many of the production that are being produced
today. The Meiningen Company was created in 1866 by George II, Duke of Saxe Meiningen. The
Meiningen Company started as a court theatre, but soon after it creation, the Meiningen Company
started touring in 1874 and visited over thirty five different cities. The Duke was very proactive in this
company in which he held many positions including: producer, director, financial, and ... Show more

Influenced by the contemporary English theatre, he insisted on realistic lighting, speech, and stage
mechanics and historically accurate costumes and sets. (Encyclopціdia Britannica INC). George II
used the realistic lighting, speech, and stage mechanics along with the historically accurate costumes
to create this unity in each piece which caught the audience in the moment and made them feel like
they were living the experience that the production put them in. This was due to George II making
everything flow together with everything being realistic and flowing as one. The Duke put all his time

The Portrayal of Ophelia on Stage Over the Years
Portrayal Mary Catherine Bolton (afterwards Lady Thurlow) (1790 1830) as Ophelia in 1813,
opposite John Philip Kemble s Hamlet While it is known that Richard Burbage played Hamlet in
Shakespeare s time, there is no evidence of who played Ophelia; since there were no professional
actresses on the public stage in Elizabethan England, we may be certain that she was played by a boy.
[11] The early modern stage in England had an established set of emblematic conventions for the
representation of female madness: dishevelled hair worn down, dressed in white, bedecked with wild
flowers, Ophelia s state of mind would have been immediately readable to her first audiences.[12]

Dorothy Foster played Ophelia opposite Charles Raymond s Hamlet in the 1912 film Hamlet. Jean
Simmons played Ophelia opposite Laurence Olivier s Oscar winning Hamlet performance in 1948;
Simmons was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. More recently,
Ophelia has been portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter (1990), Kate Winslet (1996), Julia Stiles (2000)
and Gugu Mbatha Raw (2009). Themes associated with Ophelia have led to movies such as Ophelia
Learns to Swim(2000), and Dying Like Ophelia (2002).[20] In many theatre and film adaptations she
is portrayed barefoot in the mad scenes, including Kozintsev s 1964 version, Zeffirelli s 1990 film,
1996 and2000 versions. Psychologist Mary Pipher attributed the name of her 1994 book Reviving
Ophelia to Shakespeare s Ophelia. In her book, Pipher examines the troubled lives of the modern
American adolescent girls. Through her extensive clinical work with troubled young women, Pipher
takes a closer look at the competing influences that lead adolescent girls in a negative direction. For
example, Pipher attributes the competing pressure from parents, peers, and the media for girls to reach
an unachievable ideal. Girls are expected to meet goals while still holding on to their sanity. These
pressures are further complicated when young women undergo physical changes out of their control,
like the biological developmental changes in puberty. Shakespeare s Ophelia

Becoming An Adult- Chronic Stressor
1.
School classes Daily hassle
Becoming an adult Chronic stressor
Deciding on a college Stressful event
Money Situations Chronic stressor
Family Problems Chronic stressor
2. There are many factors that could lead to the cause of a person s stress response. One includes any
life events or change to a person. Any transition that causes you to change and adjust your life style
can cause a great amount of stress, being that you cant go day to day like you may be use to. Whether
it may be a positive or negative, it tends to be stress producing. In my view i m optimistic about this
and try to see the bright side to things that may change my daily routine and think of it as it happened
for the best. Another factor that may cause a persons stress is somehow being a part of a traumatic
event. Events such as sexual assault, violence, or even unexpected loss of a loved one can stress a
person out so much that it changes the view of their life completely and can cause changes in ways
they carry themselves. It can cause symptoms such as nervousness and symptoms of anxiety which
escalate the amount of stress they experience. Daily hassles is common for everyones stress. Minor
things that seem to annoy or upset a person such as traffic on the way to work or misplacing your
shoes causes a hit of stress to go through your body. Gender usually plays a factor in what causes a
person to stress daily. Woman are more likely to stress about problems that deal with family and
friends,

Pathet Lao Case Study Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of the Pathet Lao (PL) to establish the liberated
zone, focusing on the changes in the strategy of the PL toward the Kingdom of Laos (KL) and the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV).
In 1950, the Lao Resistant Government established a state and named it Pathet Lao in Lao. The state
did not have its own territory and based in Vietnam. The PL tried to return to its own country with the
military assistance of the DRV. However, the PL didn t have the firm base until the Geneva agreement
in 1954 allowed the PL to assemble its forces in the northeastern region of Laos.
In the assembly area, The PL applied a hardline policy again. She attempted to expel the KL s forces

The Day A White Man Stepped Foot On Canadian Soil
The day a white man stepped foot on to Canadian soil, was the start of troubles Indigenous people
have dealt with. There have been so many events and cases where Indigenous people just want what
they have rights over. So far as actual events are concerned, Oka, the Royal Commission on
Aboriginal Peoples, Delgamuukw and Nunavut.. were the only few that had made headlines in the
news during the 1990s. There are so many little conflicts that government has with indigenous people
that no one is aware of till it becomes a big issue like the Oka Crisis when the Mohawk people of Oka
were getting their rights taken away, along with their land. It was worse when you found out that the
land they wanted to take away from them was the place where ... Show more content on

Lawyers of government agencies handle usually many disputes similar to Oka but as soon as this
dispute took for a violent path they had to take other measures. Jean Ouellette was the mayor at the
time that had given the go ahead on the expansion of the golf course, which consisted of sixty luxury
condos and nine more holes to members only. Even some of the town s people that were not on the
reserve where against the expansion and wanted to inquire about it but the mayor s office flat out
decline to discuss anything to do with it. All this led to the Mohawk people taking action and setting
up barricades to stop any developers travelling to the site so they could not carry on with their work.
The mayor demanded the barricades be taken down but the Mohawk people refused to do so. This led
the mayor to call in the Quebec Provincial Police and the Surete du Quebec (SQ) to help remove the
barricades. This did not help the situation because the indigenous people have a long history with SQ
and it has not been a good relationship. Then this dispute turned and started taking a violent route
where the SQ decided to attack with tear gas and flash band grenades.(johansen, pg196) During all
this gunfire ended up breaking out and that resulted to a death of SQ Corporal Marcel Lemay.
(johansen,pg.221); which no one was charged for. (pg.220, fergusen) Till this day there is arguments
of who shot him, if it was his own men or one of the indigenous people. After the violent

Similarities And Differences Between The Lion The Witch...
As any good book that has been made into a movie, there are several differences between C.S. Lewis
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe book and the movie. Some of the parts of the story discussed
will show some of the differences between the book and the movie and how this relates to Christianity.
In my opinion, I prefer the book over the movie as I think it better represents how the story relates to
Christianity, but I also enjoy the movie as it gives a visual representation of following Christ through
difficult times.
During one part of the story, the Pevensie children are at the Beavers house when the youngest boy
leaves to go to the White Witch. There are a few differences between the two when it comes to
Edmund at the castle. Before Edmund knew who the Witch really was, she tempted him and told him
she would give him great things for a price, and it seemed impossible to pass up. She told him he
would become a prince and she would give him as much candy as he wanted. In the movie, it shows
that Edmund abandoned his family and traveled to the White Witch s Castle and when Edmund arrives
at the castle, after a little while he is chained up next to the Lucy s friend, the faun, Mr. Tumnus. Then
he is offered stale bread and water, which was frozen into ice. He gives Tumnus his bread, and
afterwards Tumnus is taken to be turned into stone. In the book, when Edmund arrives at the castle, he
walks through the castle to meet the White Witch and only sees a faun in a cell,

The Effects Of Fossil Fuels And High Levels Of Greenhouse...
Introduction
The phrase sustainable development is defined as meeting the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. To create an impact on
lowering the usage of fossil fuels and high levels of greenhouse gases there are several different forms
of renewable energy available for worldwide use today. This includes biofuels (bioethanol and
biodiesel), biomass, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power stations, solar powered cells, and wind
turbines to name a handful of sources of energy. Solar energy from the sun can also be derived to
produce photochemical, photoelectric, and photovoltaic energy to diversify its format.
By increasing uses of fossil fuels we endanger ourselves with the ... Show more content on

The protocol agreement suggested countries were required to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to
5% against levels produced in 1990. A further extension was agreed to depreciate the emissions by
18% below the levels in 1990 during an eight year time period from 2013 to 2020.
The triple bottom line (TBL) effect is taken into consideration when used to describe the sustainability
of an industry. This is an accounting framework measuring the economic, environmental, and social
aspects over a specific period of time. With the diversity of renewable energy and its different formats,
it is an effective method to impose and produce a TBL. These results in accelerating profits and
decelerating emissions of greenhouse gases produced by fossil fuel combusting power stations and
also nuclear power stations.
Creating renewable energy projects result in more jobs for qualified people for installation and labour
processes. Although the initial cost of installation for renewable sources of energy is high, the
maintenance costs are low and are easily accessible, for example solar panels and wind turbine farms.
The production of wind turbine farms has drawn eyebrows for many local communities complaining
about them to be visually displeasing. However, many renewable energy projects increase domestic
revenues on tourism. A prominent example being the Hoover Dam situated on the border of

Transitional Bilingual Programs
A transitional bilingual program is a program based on the theory that a student should first acquire
fluency and literacy in their native language before joining classes where subjects are taught in a
second language (English). Once the student has a strong skills base in the native language, they can
more easily transfer those skills to a second language (English only classrooms). All subjects, even
content area subjects, are taught in the native language. Once the student has enough knowledge in
their native language, the student can begin to be transferred into the mainstream all English classes. A
dual language program, on the other hand, is a program where all subjects are taught in two languages.

My First Class Luc Elbowed Keen On The Side
Walking toward their first class Luc elbowed Keen in the side. Look, Shaylin is waiting for you. Keen

determined stride. Hi, we need to talk. Keen could perceive that although she was smiling she was not
happy. Yes, we should talk, but not here. Keen took her hand and lead her around the corner behind
the buildings. Keen turned to face Shaylin, I must understand how you perceive me. Shaylin s voice
was soft as she replied. Does it truly matter? My Father told me that with your Father being the leader
he has the ability to comprehend if we are Vampire and Servant, or Vampire and Mate furthermore,
once he declares our connection, it is final. Keen glanced down at the ground he knew she was right;
however the thought of having your choice taken away didn t sit well. Keen, how do you perceive me?
Keen gazed into her eyes an additional time with a determination for that special connection, he
wanted to feel his heart skip a beat nevertheless, he felt only the elation for infatuation and his blood
sang of security. This is so confusing, I feel both security and elation in my blood; however I don t feel
my heart skip a beat. I asked my Father what would happen if I reject my Mate should it turn out that

While have difficulty in understanding unconditionally love, I hope that someday I can love someone
unconditionally while they love me for who I am. I have trouble believing that someone will love me
unconditionally because I notice a lot of flaws within myself and in others. This is the main reason
why I am not really close to anyone and kept a distant between other people. I remember back in the
past, most of my fights with my ex boyfriend always started with him saying how he is tired of me
pointing out my flaws and needing him to reassure me that I am perfectly fine. Since I have a complex
with the way I look mainly because of my acne I would always question my ex boyfriend about other
different type of girls. At one point he told me that I should stop comparing and asked me if I believe
him when he says he loves me. To which I replied, to a certain degree because there is so much things
that comes into factor (such as my appearance and behaviors). He then says to me that if I do not
believe in loving myself for who I am then there will always be a limit to my love and acceptance. All
of us want to be acceptable for who we are. In order to be loved unconditionally we must love and
accept ourselves first. This article talks about that in order to be unconditionally loved or love
unconditionally we must start with ourselves first. We must begin to love ourselves unconditionally
before loving others and expecting that kind of love back. I see flaws within myself every day and
believes that those flaws are the reasons why I would not be accepted for who I am. Often time people
do not even notice my flaws such as my acne, behaviors, or appearance until I point them out myself.
My friends will often ask me, if you do not love yourself why would other? By practicing
lovingkindness towards ourselves, we come face to face with self hatred

Communication Reflection Paper
At times, circumstances in life can unknowingly guide one on a path leading to a promising and
rewarding career. Thanks to my family and sister, I am here today. When I was four years old, my
younger sister Carly was diagnosed with a rare developmental disorder, called Smith Magenis
Syndrome (SMS). Of course at the time I did not understand what this meant, but as we got older,
many of Carly s challenges were attributes that came easily to me and other typically developing kids.
One of her biggest challenges was and still is today is communicating effectively. For instance, Carly
didn t use full words until early elementary school. Before that, she communicated mostly through
pointing or using monosyllabic repetitions when she wanted objects. At worst, she would express her
thoughts and frustrations through outbursts. From this young age, I was able to observe Carly and her
SLP work on improving her communication, either in our home or during her speech sessions at the
therapy clinic. However during my high school career, becoming an SLP was just in the back of my
mind, and was never my first choice. It didn t become prominent until entered my freshman year of
college at the University of Iowa, and took the Intro to Speech Hearing Processes and Disorders class.
Throughout the semester I not only became interested in the concepts I previously experienced
through my sister, but also in concepts I had never heard of or thought twice about like stuttering,

To be a screenwriter and/or a director you must be willing to share your imagination with the world.

A great outlet to express my feelings and thoughts with the world. If I just described you, then

Rather you want to be a screenwriter and/or a director, those two occupations are similar but very

Sure, the aftermath is awesome: watching something you ve written come to life, etc. But getting it
onto the page is, personally speaking, excruciating.
Question: How do you avoid exposition?
Answer: You don t. You police it. I go back through and read it over and over and continually ask
myself do they need to say this? And in doing so, I ve come up with some really cool scenes and
interesting ways to show things that I initially had been telling.
Fascination with Becoming a Screenwriter/Director
I made the career choice to become a screenwriter/director because it is an easy outlet. Since I was in
elementary school I was an excellent writer. I would write fairytales upon fairytales and read them to
whoever was willing to listen. When all the other children wanted to go outside and play, I would be
writing. Anywhere and everywhere, you could always catch me with a pen and paper. Growing up I
had many dreams, had many aspirations. Over time most of those aspirations faded, and it became all
but nothing a simple dream. Yet as I grow older writing has never left my side. I began doing spoken
word which opened the door to my public speaking. Which now has me so excited to write something,
anything, knowing that people are excited and willing to hear me

Comparing Plato s Republic, More s Utopia, and Gurney s...
Plato s Republic, More s Utopia, and Gurney s Dinotopia
Throughout history, mankind has struggled to lead better lives and improve their society for future
generations. What do we continuously attempt to improve? What kind of changes are we trying to
institute? In other words, what is an ideal society? Many people have very diversified views about a
perfect civilization. In Plato s Republic, Sir Thomas More s Utopia, and James Gurney s Dinotopia,
three imaginary societies are described, each with its own peculiarities and highlights. Various aspects
of the nations described in these three novels, including their respective economies, governments, and
social structures, will be compared and contrasted.
A crucial aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also applies the use of funds within the country, similar to many other nations in the world today.
Now, we will proceed to the most important part of any human institution the government. In Utopia,
the political hierarchy is based on the household: every city has 6000 households, each containing ten
to sixteen adults. For every thirty households, one Styward, or District Counselor, is elected. One
Bencheater, or Senior District Counselor, is elected for every ten Stywards. Every town has one
mayor, who is elected by secret ballot by the Stywards. Every three days the Bencheaters have a
meeting with the mayor to discuss public affairs and, rarely, to settle disputes. There are rules
concerning the debate of propositions. For example, no resolution can be debated on the day that it s
first proposed... Otherwise someone s liable to say the first thing that comes into his head, and then
start thinking up arguments to justify what he has said, instead of trying to decide what s best for the
community (More 74).
The Dinotopian government resembles The Republic in that there is one main leader. The mayor of
Waterfall City, which is a hereditary position, wields supreme authority over the entire island. In
addition, a senate acts to pass laws and settle disputes, similar to the Stywards and Bencheaters in
Utopia.

Who Is Walter Lee Younger Anti Hero
By definition a hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding
achievements, or noble qualities. So what is an Anti Hero? An anti hero is a noble and courageous
man much like a hero, but he is selfish and cruel. As readers, we attach ourselves to the anti hero
because we want to see the good in everyone. Walter Lee Younger in the play, A Raisin in the Sun by
Lorraine Hansberry is an anti hero because of his narcissistic traits, nobility as he evolved, and his
passion that drove the action of the play.
Walter Lee Younger exhibits many characteristics of an anti hero including his egotistical thought
process. In the first Act of A Raisin in the Sun, Walter shows his selfishness by giving Travis

The Emergence Of Market Society
The whole society has become a market. Societies used to consist of people that were governed by
certain ideologies, laws, and practices. Being driven by capitalism, society has developed everything
into a commodity, in which we now call a market society. Other socio economic communities
historically had concepts that were different from what is predominated in our present society. The
emergence of market society establishes the great transformation from a traditional society to a market
economy that has greatly impacted societal workplaces, and beliefs around ideological conditions. The
emergence of market society starts with the self regulating system called the market economy
(Polanyi, 1957, P. 68). Self regulation indicates that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the Industrial Revolution lead to the great transformation of the market society. The
economy grew and people used labour as commodity that endures the greatest societal consequence.
Since the market relied on this commodity, human rights were at a disadvantage to the economy.
There is no such thing as a self regulating market because people believe that the economy can build a
system based on false commodities (Polanyi, 1957, P. 75). Society faces an economic problem that
provides for the material well being of the society, meaning we produce and exchange the basic
necessities in order to survive. If mankind does not live by bread alone, it is obvious that it cannot live
without bread (Heilbroner, P. 1). The economic problem arises because human nature struggles for
existence which is derived from scarcity (Heilbroner, 1993, P. 4). This problem presents itself
critically and uniquely as it is shown through economic history that people struggle for survival.
Society has to organize a system of providing enough production for everyone and being able to
distribute them properly. Other than market society, there are two other overarching systems found in
other societies, tradition and command. For a traditional economy, production and distribution are
constructed by procedures designed

An Air Of Superiority And Indifference
A rather snobby looking man entered the large, bustling banquet room with his nose in the air.
Maintaining an air of superiority and indifference, he had hoped to avoid the attention of others as he
made his way to his seat at the great banquet table. As he sat in his seat, the ruby pendant that hung
low from his long neck clinked against his assortment of golden necklaces. Narrowing his eyes, he
carefully scanned the crowd of other attendees and adjusted his fur laced maroon cloak. These oafs
had better get on with it, he thought to himself. Important men and women were making a commotion
in the busy banquet room. Large buffoons argued over inane theories, purple faced and clearly already
drunk; Snotty women gossiped cattily over rumors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s the Thane s wife, you sacks! Do you want your ugly heads to end up on platters? spoke a third
man, promptly halting their foolish tongues. Understanding now that the anxious man was the new
Thane and that the woman to his side was his Lady, he began to devise his plan to charm the new
nobility. The Thane cleared his throat and spoke flatly, You know your own degrees; sit down. At first
and last, the hearty welcome. He seemed as though he had attempted to sound welcoming, but his tone
was nothing short of distracted. As the Lords and Lady settled themselves at the banquet table, the
man watched the Thane with increasing scrutiny. The Thane s unruly hair was banded by a small
crown, seemingly desperate to escape its grasp. His eyes here gray and sullen the eyes of a restless
man. His facial hair was nearly as unkempt as the hair on his head, and his clothes, while undoubtedly
costly, draped awkwardly from the Thane like tattered sheets. The man with the ruby pendant noticed
the hurried nature of the Thane, and watched as he paced the room, haphazardly greeting guests.
Oddly, his eyes darted to the doorway of the banquet hall nervously, as though he was expecting some
horribly unpleasant guest to come bursting into the hall without invitation. In spite of the commotion
that preceded the banquet, the air in the hall was oddly sterile. One of the drunk men had passed out,
the women had little left

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ravenna
By fairest blood it is done, by fairest blood it is undone Snow white and the huntsman is the battle
between beauty and innocence for fairest blood. This is a four star dark twist to the traditional fairy
tale of the orphaned princess, Snow White (Kristen Stewart), and her escape from her step mother and
evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). From the producers of Alice and the Wonderland, An Evil
Queen, Ravenna, tricks, seduces, and kills the king; she takes the kingdom and rules with intimidation
and magic. She draws her life force and youth from magic which is fuelled by the draining of other
beautiful young hearts and souls. Her life is to be the fairest in all of the land yet another has come of
age to surpass even the strongest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the role she played in twilight, she has no other main characters to hold her up. She drains the
personality from Snow White in addition to the lack of importance felt in her character. This is
predominantly seen in the fight to the death scene with Snow White and Ravenna. While Theron oozes
fire and elegance, Stuart can t seem to capture a believable character. Snow White is supposed to be
innocence and humility in contrast to the Queens magic and pride. Her sharp angled face, greasy
voice, and empty facial expressions she was a flawed choice by the directors. Drunk, bitter and half
dead. The gorgeous Chris Hemsworth plays the in between of life and death as the Huntsman. Once
being a small point in the original brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hemsworth s huntsman has created a
new take on the contrast between the two main roles. This is greatly shown when he is pulled out of a
dirty tub of water with a hangover and a debt and he is brought to the queen s throne. When the queen
s guards draw spears against him he says Do me the favour, I beg of you. He can t stand to be alive
because the Queens magic killed his wife for her youth. Finn tells the Huntsman She screamed your
name but you weren t there. Now you can beg her forgiveness in the other world. Now as Snow White
lay dead the Huntsman begs for forgiveness from her I m so sorry I failed you. I m

Egyptians and Indians
(An Analysis of the way the Egyptians lived to the way the Avavares lived)
Herodotus is considered by most to have been the first Greek historian which would make him the
first European historian as well. He wrote many books in his time and History contains Observations
on Egypt. Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca was one of the first Europeans to explore the American
Southwest. He wrote La Relacion that talks mostly of the few months that he spent with the Avavares.
Herodotus talks about the way the Egyptians see different animals, perform different ceremonies, and
De Vaca focuses mainly on the lifestyle of the Avavares.

The Avavares have a lot to do with religion and they base their lifestyle on the healers of the tribe. De
Vaca prayed a lot and that helped with a lot of what they were doing in the tribe. He managed to bring
one man back from the dead . From paragraph 4 of Chapter Twenty two of From La Relacion, I
removed a mat with which he was covered, and as best I could prayed to Our Lord to restore his
health, as well as that of all the others who might be in need of it, and after having made the sign of
the cross and breathed on him many times they brought his bow and presented it to me, and a basket

Brains before Beauty in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Essay
Brains before Beauty in Jane Erye
Beauty is generally classified into two main categories: physical and mental. In the Charlotte Bronte s
Jane Erye, the protagonist rejects by choice and submission, her own physical beauty in favor of her
mental intelligence and humility, and her choice becomes her greatest benefit by allowing her to win
the hand of the man of her desires, a man who has the values Jane herself believes in. She values her
knowledge and thinking before any of her physical appearances because of her desire as a child to
read, the lessons she is taught and the reinforcements of the idea appearing in her adulthood. During
the course of the novel she lives at five homes. In each of these places, the idea of inner ... Show more

Jane Erye s next home emerges as the Lowood Institution where she spends six years of her life
learning to become intelligent and morally stringent, while remaining visibly plain. Her lesson of
physical and mental humility comes at the hands of Mr. Brocklehurst, the institution s main
benefactor. Upon seeing a girl with natural curls in her hair, he proclaims: My mission is to mortify in
these girls the lusts of the flesh, to teach them to clothe themselves with shamefacedness and sobriety
(pg. 96). Such a strong influence on Jane, at such an early age, greatly persuades her opinion of her
own physical image. She feels her status in life always remains as a humble and inconspicuous servant
with a sharp mind and strict morals. In spending six years of her most impressionable years of her life
at such a repressive institution, she learns a great deal of humility.
Lowood also teaches Jane a great deal by giving her one of the greatest benefits to her life: a good
education. Jane spends eight years of her life at Lowood where she, had the means of an excellent
education placed within my reach; a fondness for some of my studies, and a desire to excel in all (pg.
115). Her education means more to her than her simple appearance. She had the option of just sliding
by in her studies and leaving Lowood as soon as possible. Instead, she remains in a school

Examples Of Bitterness In The Crucible
Bitterness is a feeling of anger, hurt, or resentment toward a bad experience or a sense of unjust
treatment. This emotion is human nature since humans were primitive because it made humans
remember events that negatively affected them, causing feelings such as anger, hate, and hostility
toward what caused the problem. In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many circumstances came
up that caused strong feelings of pain, irritation, and furry. Bitterness is used to demonstrate a factor of
human nature throughout the play by illustrating the experiences of resentment caused by conflicts. A
part of human nature is feeling bitter, and that concept is shown through different situations during the
play. Mrs. Putnam in The Crucible was trying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proctor said this because he was angry and resentful to the judge. The judge had very little reason to
accuse his wife. This causes Proctor to become bitter. Human nature teachers this because humans
strive for the truth. Whenever the truth is twisted humans become bitter and spiteful. An instance
occurred when Elizabeth went against what Proctor told her to do. PROCTOR: How do you go to
Salem when I forbid it? Do you mock me? Shaking her. I ll whip you if you dare leave this house
again! (Miller 55). Proctor gets very furious and threatens to whip her. When a person sets a rule and
another person breaks that rule it causes frustration and results in bitterness. Anger completely
overtook Marry Warren during Abigail s trial because Abigail lied about how Elizabeth was using
witchcraft. Mary Warren, on her feet with a spring, and horrified, pleading: Abby! (Miller 115). The
reason Mary Warren got so uncontrollably mad was due to human nature. Abigail made up that was a
yellow bird and was out to get her. It is human nature to seek the truth and Abigail lying caused Mary
Warren to become that way. During this experience Hale is questioning Elizabeth about

Trip Trips For The New Years Day Parade
One thing that is on every bucket list is traveling abroad, or traveling to Paris, or going overseas, or
some variation of that, and if one is lucky enough then hopefully one day that dream will come true. I
know personally how stressful it can be to plan a trip abroad; I have traveled to London twice, and
then to Paris, Florence, and Rome once. I went to London in December of 2014 to participate in The
New Years Day parade; I traveled yet again to Europe in the summer of 2015 with an educational
tours group. While I cannot tell you how to plan your trip solo, I do know the other aspects of
traveling. Today, I am here to tell you about the stresses and joys of planning a trip abroad; from
planning what your destination/s will be to planning your outfits for the trip, I will try to cover
everything that you can possible need to know. The first thing you need to do when thinking of
traveling abroad is getting all the details planned or at least think them out. You need to figure out
your main destination, you can later add on other destinations but you should know where you want to
go to for sure first. When figuring out your destination make sure, you really research that country so
you that you will know how safe you will be ( Traveler s Checklist. ). When doing your research on
your destination of choice you might see if they have anything that you should be vaccinated for just
for your safety. After you know where you are going or at least have an idea of where you are

All Quiet On The Western Front Analysis
In the novel All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Remarque, the protagonist Paul deal s
with the new ways of fighting in world war 1 as this war introduced multiple new ways to bring death
and violence. He needs to adapt to living in the trenches, machine gun fire, and the constant fear of a
shell landing on him. This novel portrays the ways in which living styles and weapons in war changed
warfare for the worst, drastically increasing the brutality. During world war one, the soldiers would
have to fight on the battlefield and needed to find a way to stay there without immediately dying. The
military found that digging up a system of ditches in the ground would keep the soldiers alive long
enough to fight. These ditches, named trenches, changed the men inside of them. The men would live
in some of the cruelest conditions within a base than any other previous war. Men within the trench
had to deal with a foot disease known as trench foot along with constant splinters, which both caused
major damage to feet. When Paul s within the trench heading to the hospital area, he says My thoughts
become confused. This atmosphere of carbolic and gangrene clogs the lungs, it is a thick gruel, it
suffocates (Remarque 2.37). This line says how living condition s inside trenches made soldiers
miserable with multiple uncomfortable smells and other influences. The living conditions of the trench
show how world war one had changed warfare for the worst through the increase in

Dr. R. Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abraham Lincoln And Many...
When learning about the topic of slavery in school you hear of names like Harriet Tubman, Fredrick
Douglas, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abraham Lincoln and many others I have not listed. I am not taking
anything away from these brave men and women and their courageous works to end the cruelty of
slavery and how they suffered but there are some who go unmentioned and their stories are left untold.
Have you ever heard of a gentleman named Solomon Northup? Most people have not nor his story and
experience with slavery. Solomon Northup was a free black man living in Saratoga Springs, New
York. Northup had a wife and three children he loved greatly. Solomon was a very busy man, he
worked long hours on a farm. Northup was an educated man who enjoyed reading books and playing
his violin in his spare time. (Northup 1 10) One day two strangers approached Northup and asked if he
would like to join them to perform in a town miles away. Solomon agrees to join these white men on
their journey to perform. Little did Solomon know that these men were in a business where they
capture free and escaped black men to make money. Beginning in 1793, congress passed the first
Fugitive Slave Act which allowed local governments to return escaped slaves back to their rightful
owners. (Histroy.com) This law was one of the many slave laws that brought much controversy to the
nation as it was expanding westward and asking how slavery would work in the new states and if it
would even be allowed.

Are People Naturally Good Or Evil Research
A straightforward question. Are humans naturally good or evil? A simple question that has many of
different answers and a question that may require deep thinking. For me, both sides I was drawn to.
My household is christian, so I thought of the religious answer, but I also thought that people are born
good and their environment and decisions can cause them to be evil. This is what I came up with.
When I thought of this question the first thing that popped up in my head is babies , so I did a little
research. Babies are humans with the absolute minimum of cultural influence (bbc.com). They don t
have a lot of friends, and they don t go to school or read any books. Their minds are as innocent as any

  • 5. The Collective Activity Was The Dawn Of American Imperialism The topic I examined in the collective activity was the Dawn of American Imperialism. The dawn of American imperialism was a time of expansion and also a time of war and racism. During this time America was increasing its power by gaining control over other areas of the world (Merriam Webster). America was fighting a war in the Philippines to take control because Americans thought Filipinos could not govern themselves and were uneducated. Also America was trying to annex Hawaii even though the majority of Hawaiians were against the annexation. During this time people and companies such as Josiah strong, Rudard Kipling and Pearl s soap were spreading racism and the belief that Anglo Saxons were a superior race and should impress its institutions upon man kind (Josiah Strong, Our Country ). There were many primary sources that I consulted while studying my topic. In the text Voices of Freedom by Eric Foner I read about and studied the views of Josiah strong, Emilio Aguinaldo and Rudard Kipling. I studied an article titled The 1897 Petitions Protesting Annexation by Noenoe K. Silva from the University of Hawaii library website. I also studied two images in chapter 17 of Foner, Eric. Give Me Liberty! Online. The first image was titled A Trifle Embarrassed and the second image was a Pears Soap ad image titled The White Man s Burden Josiah strong was a Protestant Christian minister who wrote a book titled Our Country In 1885. The Portrayal of Ophelia on Stage Over the Years Portrayal Mary Catherine Bolton (afterwards Lady Thurlow) (1790 1830) as Ophelia in 1813, opposite John Philip Kemble s Hamlet While it is known that Richard Burbage played Hamlet in Shakespeare s time, there is no evidence of who played Ophelia; since there were no professional actresses on the public stage in Elizabethan England, we may be certain that she was played by a boy. [11] The early modern stage in England had an established set of emblematic conventions for the representation of female madness: dishevelled hair worn down, dressed in white, bedecked with wild flowers, Ophelia s state of mind would have been immediately readable to her first audiences.[12] Colour was a ... Through her extensive clinical work with troubled young women, Pipher takes a closer look at the competing influences that lead adolescent girls in a negative direction. For example, Pipher attributes the competing pressure from parents, peers, and the media for girls to reach an unachievable ideal. Girls are expected to meet goals while still holding on to their sanity. These pressures are further complicated when young women undergo physical changes out of their control, like the biological developmental changes in puberty. Shakespeare s Ophelia ... There are many factors that could lead to the cause of a person s stress response. One includes any life events or change to a person. Any transition that causes you to change and adjust your life style can cause a great amount of stress, being that you cant go day to day like you may be use to. Whether it may be a positive or negative, it tends to be stress producing. In my view i m optimistic about this and try to see the bright side to things that may change my daily routine and think of it as it happened for the best. Another factor that may cause a persons stress is somehow being a part of a traumatic event. Even some of the town s people that were not on the reserve where against the expansion and wanted to inquire about it but the mayor s office flat out decline to discuss anything to do with it. All this led to the Mohawk people taking action and setting up barricades to stop any developers travelling to the site so they could not carry on with their work. The mayor demanded the barricades be taken down but the Mohawk people refused to do so. This led the mayor to call in the Quebec Provincial Police and the Surete du Quebec (SQ) to help remove the barricades. • 11. Similarities And Differences Between The Lion The Witch... As any good book that has been made into a movie, there are several differences between C.S. Lewis The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe book and the movie. Some of the parts of the story discussed will show some of the differences between the book and the movie and how this relates to Christianity. In my opinion, I prefer the book over the movie as I think it better represents how the story relates to Christianity, but I also enjoy the movie as it gives a visual representation of following Christ through difficult times. During one part of the story, the Pevensie children are at the Beavers house when the youngest boy leaves to go to the White Witch. There are a few differences between the two when it comes to Edmund at the castle. Before Edmund knew who the Witch really was, she tempted him and told him she would give him great things for a price, and it seemed impossible to pass up. She told him he would become a prince and she would give him as much candy as he wanted. In the movie, it shows that Edmund abandoned his family and traveled to the White Witch s Castle and when Edmund arrives at the castle, after a little while he is chained up next to the Lucy s friend, the faun, Mr. Tumnus. Then he is offered stale bread and water, which was frozen into ice. He gives Tumnus his bread, and afterwards Tumnus is taken to be turned into stone. Introduction The phrase sustainable development is defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. To create an impact on lowering the usage of fossil fuels and high levels of greenhouse gases there are several different forms of renewable energy available for worldwide use today. This includes biofuels (bioethanol and biodiesel), biomass, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power stations, solar powered cells, and wind turbines to name a handful of sources of energy. By increasing uses of fossil fuels we endanger ourselves with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The protocol agreement suggested countries were required to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to 5% against levels produced in 1990. A further extension was agreed to depreciate the emissions by 18% below the levels in 1990 during an eight year time period from 2013 to 2020. The triple bottom line (TBL) effect is taken into consideration when used to describe the sustainability of an industry. This is an accounting framework measuring the economic, environmental, and social aspects over a specific period of time. With the diversity of renewable energy and its different formats, it is an effective method to impose and produce a TBL. These results in accelerating profits and decelerating emissions of greenhouse gases produced by fossil fuel combusting power stations and also nuclear power stations. Creating renewable energy projects result in more jobs for qualified people for installation and labour processes. Although the initial cost of installation for renewable sources of energy is high, the maintenance costs are low and are easily accessible, for example solar panels and wind turbine farms. The production of wind turbine farms has drawn eyebrows for many local communities complaining about them to be visually displeasing. • 16. Communication Reflection Paper At times, circumstances in life can unknowingly guide one on a path leading to a promising and rewarding career. Thanks to my family and sister, I am here today. When I was four years old, my younger sister Carly was diagnosed with a rare developmental disorder, called Smith Magenis Syndrome (SMS). Of course at the time I did not understand what this meant, but as we got older, many of Carly s challenges were attributes that came easily to me and other typically developing kids. One of her biggest challenges was and still is today is communicating effectively. For instance, Carly didn t use full words until early elementary school. Before that, she communicated mostly through pointing or using monosyllabic repetitions when she wanted objects. At worst, she would express her thoughts and frustrations through outbursts. From this young age, I was able to observe Carly and her SLP work on improving her communication, either in our home or during her speech sessions at the therapy clinic. However during my high school career, becoming an SLP was just in the back of my mind, and was never my first choice. It didn t become prominent until entered my freshman year of college at the University of Iowa, and took the Intro to Speech Hearing Processes and Disorders class. Throughout the semester I not only became interested in the concepts I previously experienced through my sister, but also in concepts I had never heard of or thought twice about like stuttering, aphasia, and ... Being driven by capitalism, society has developed everything into a commodity, in which we now call a market society. Other socio economic communities historically had concepts that were different from what is predominated in our present society. The emergence of market society establishes the great transformation from a traditional society to a market economy that has greatly impacted societal workplaces, and beliefs around ideological conditions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, the Industrial Revolution lead to the great transformation of the market society. The economy grew and people used labour as commodity that endures the greatest societal consequence. Since the market relied on this commodity, human rights were at a disadvantage to the economy. There is no such thing as a self regulating market because people believe that the economy can build a system based on false commodities (Polanyi, 1957, P. 75). Society faces an economic problem that provides for the material well being of the society, meaning we produce and exchange the basic necessities in order to survive. If mankind does not live by bread alone, it is obvious that it cannot live without bread (Heilbroner, P. 1). The economic problem arises because human nature struggles for existence which is derived from scarcity (Heilbroner, 1993, P. 4). This problem presents itself critically and uniquely as it is shown through economic history that people struggle for survival. Society has to organize a system of providing enough production for everyone and being able to distribute them properly. Other than market society, there are two other overarching systems found in other societies, tradition and command. Maintaining an air of superiority and indifference, he had hoped to avoid the attention of others as he made his way to his seat at the great banquet table. As he sat in his seat, the ruby pendant that hung low from his long neck clinked against his assortment of golden necklaces. Narrowing his eyes, he carefully scanned the crowd of other attendees and adjusted his fur laced maroon cloak. These oafs had better get on with it, he thought to himself. The Thane cleared his throat and spoke flatly, You know your own degrees; sit down. At first and last, the hearty welcome. He seemed as though he had attempted to sound welcoming, but his tone was nothing short of distracted. As the Lords and Lady settled themselves at the banquet table, the man watched the Thane with increasing scrutiny. The Thane s unruly hair was banded by a small crown, seemingly desperate to escape its grasp. His eyes here gray and sullen the eyes of a restless man. His facial hair was nearly as unkempt as the hair on his head, and his clothes, while undoubtedly costly, draped awkwardly from the Thane like tattered sheets. The man with the ruby pendant noticed the hurried nature of the Thane, and watched as he paced the room, haphazardly greeting guests. Oddly, his eyes darted to the doorway of the banquet hall nervously, as though he was expecting some horribly unpleasant guest to come bursting into the hall without invitation. In spite of the commotion that preceded the banquet, the air in the hall was oddly sterile. One of the drunk men had passed out, the women had little left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
