Write A Personal Narrative Essay On Golfing
What if you were golfing and found a zombie golfer chasing you around? Well, thIs is what happened
to me last Halloween. It was Halloween, 2016, and I was playing 18 holes on the golf course when I
heard a loud noise coming from the woods. The sound sounded like it was coming closer and closer. I
was wondering what was making that noise ?what could it be? I decided to walk into the woods to see
what the sound was. Then I saw a golf ball coming over my head from the woods. Another six balls
were coming at me really fast. I ran for cover and One of them almost hit me! I looked at one of the
balls next to me and It looked like an eyeball. I was terrified! Then, the noises came closer, I started to
run to my golf bag.I grabbed my driver and ran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At first I thought I was dreaming, but then I realized I wasn t. I ran away from the woods and jumped
into my cart where my clubs were, and drove all the way back to the clubhouse.I told the manager of
the golf course that there was a zombie on the 18th hole, but when he turned around I realized he was
a zombie too! I ran back to my golf cart when I saw the original zombie. and I saw that he was on the
other side of a waterfall. i was wondering how the zombie got there so fast. Then I remembered that
zombies move quickly when they are close to humans. i tried to hit balls at the zombie to try and kill
him before he killed me. I was so nervous that my balls did not hit him and they landed in a bunker. I
saw a ball sink into the sand. There was another bunker next to me and I threw a ball in it and realized
it sank too. then i knew it was quicksand.I ran over to the zombie and tried to make it come towards
the quicksand. the zombie walked into the quicksand, but kept walking toward me. He was so fast that
he did not seem to sink. It started to run very fast towards me, so I had to run across 18 holes, but he
would not stop. I ran into the sewer in the golf course, and I saw blood

Southwest Airlines And Lincoln Electric Company
About Southwest Airlines and Lincoln Electric Company: (Questions 1.a and 1.b):
a. What are the objectives of each company s approach to benefits and services? I believe that the first
step here is to go through the actual approach of Southwest Airlines and Lincoln Electric Company in
respect to the workers benefits and services. Nevertheless, both these particular companies do in fact
have complete dissimilar approaches to motivate and encourage their workers. Here is a few examples
that Lincoln Electric Company believes in:
They believe in making consumers feel accountable to the actual success of the company, which can
be done by connecting the compensation of the workers to the achievement of the company as a
whole.

Lincoln Electric Company also believed in a lean labor force to lessen workers hours as the demand
dropped and then compensated for that with overtime hours in periods of busy demand, where the
workers could make more wages.
Here are examples of Southwest Airlines approach to motivating and encouraging the workers that
was in fact more than just financial benefits.
For instance, Southwest Airlines believe that the payment in salary would bring the workers to work
on time, make them work for their allotted time. However, the problem was what how to make their
workers enjoy the work they do each day and be satisfied about it. So, Southwest felt as if the only
means to do so was to stimulate motivation and accordance with the company as a whole. Also,
Southwest made their company a better place in which to work in that would draw attention to the
workers and keep them content/satisfied as well.
Southwest Airlines felt as if the workers who actually went out of their way to aid customers, did in
fact, deserve a public praise or hand shake. So each and every month Southwest s magazine Spirit
would printout a story or article of one special worker who went out of their way to deliver the
best/exceptional customer satisfaction.
It also has the greater number of Couples working in any company, which made the company more
like a complete family.

Minimum Wage Needs A Change
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 14% of the nation lives below the poverty line, the
current population is 326,474,013, and 45,706,362 of the population lives in poverty every single day.
One of the reasons why such a large chunk of the population is in poverty is because they are not
being paid a reasonable salary for them to support themselves and their families. Raising the minimum
wage can lead to problems, but gradual increases are made over time, it could be beneficial for
millions of people around the nation. The positive effects of raising minimum wage is what makes it
worth it. A raise in minimum wage can be beneficial; however, it must be a ... Show more content on

Beyond that many people who are working minimum wage have families to support and their income
wouldn t even be close enough for them to support a family. A large amount of people working
minimum wage are below the age of 30, but there is still a very large percentage of people above the
age of 30 making minimum wage. A quote states About 20.6 million people (or 30% of all hourly, non
self employed workers 18 and older) are near minimum wage workers (DeSilver). Many of the people
above the age of thirty don t live alone and need to provide for other people. This leaves not only the
employees in poverty but their children, or whoever else lives at home with them. It is said that Less
than half (45%) of the 2.6 million hourly workers who were at or below the federal minimum in 2015
were ages 16 to 24 (DeSilver). A change in minimum wage could potentially help people out of
poverty.
Although raises in minimum wage can be a truly great thing, it can come with many cons. A lot of the
times states make big jumps in minimum wage that do not work with the rate of inflation. Inflation is
the decreasing and increasing prices when purchasing the value of money. As minimum wage
increases it could lead to inflation. This means that prices from lower wage companies will have to
end up bumping up prices in order to pay employees. States that raise minimum gradually overtime

Primary Theories Of Schizophrenia Essay
There are three primary theories for schizophrenia that need to be considered:
The first theory being, the Genetic Theory. This theory proposes that schizophrenia is inherited and
passed through genes. An initial study shows, one in eight children of a schizophrenic parental
background develop this disorder, similarly another study concludes 75% of children will be mentally
healthy. Research also states, the illness occurs in 10% of persons with a first degree relation to a
family member with schizophrenia. Statistics are even high for an identical twin of a person with
schizophrenia, with a probability of 40 65% of developing the disorder.
Next is the Environmental/ Interpersonal Theory. This theory proposes that schizophrenia and
emotional disorders are directly correlated to a person s young upbringing in the home and parental
figures. It also proposes the idea that stress is a pivotal cause. A strong ... Show more content on

The initial indication of schizophrenia being a factor of dopamine was amphetamine consumers.
Amphetamine causes several symptoms of schizophrenia including: delusions and hallucinations. In
schizophrenics there is an unsteady, high amount of dopamine in the brain. Antipsychotic drugs work
to lower the presence of dopamine on the brain by impeding dopamine receptors. There are two
primary dopamine receptors, D1 and D2. In schizophrenic patients the latter is split into D2, D3 and
D4 subtypes. Dopamine activators are found in the striatum, prefrontal cortex and limbic system of the
brain. Clinical research has observed an increase of dopamine in the emotion controlling striatum
through PET and SPECT brain scans. Unfortunately there is no one pinpointed cause of high
dopamine levels. Many of these causes are: Agitation, anxiety, cognitive acuity, feeling of pleasure,
hedonism, high energy, high libido, insomnia, paranoia and

M Night Symbolism
In M. Night Shyamalan s movie The Sixth Sense symbolism and foreshadowing is used throughout.
The use of the color red is the most obvious form of symbolism. The color red is used to show
important moments, presence of spirits, paranormal events, etc. in the movie.
Red is used to highlight the most important moments in the movie or just items of interest that the
viewer should take note of. From the first scene of the movie you can start to notice the red
symbolism. Malcolm and his wife are discussing his awards and it s shown to be invaded inside of a
red frame. Another example of symbolism is towards the beginning of the movie when Cole is at the
birthday party and he follows the red balloon upstairs where he has an encounter with a paranormal ...

This part of the film was somewhat confusing to me. I thought maybe he didn t like talking to anyone
besides his patients. I thought Cole was his patient so he only talked to him. After seeing the scene
where Malcolm and Cole s mother were sitting together waiting for Cole to come home I thought that
maybe he was having a conversation with her but towards the end of the movie it was clarified that
Malcolm was never talking to her or interacting with her. I noticed that Cole refused to interact with
Malcolm in that scene but would ve never done so if they were alone. Another part of the movie that
was somewhat confusing to me was if those kids from school were hitting Cole or if it was his mother.
I initially thought that it was the kids but after seeing how Cole s mother was so impatient with him I
thought it maybe could ve been her. Again, the ending of the movie where Cole finally revealed his
secret to his mother clarified the whole thing. He explained to her that the ghosts would do that to him.
I believe some parts of the movie were meant to confuse the viewer to have them thinking something
completely opposite of the truth. The people who were behind the movie really paid attention to the
detailing and really ended up explaining everything at the end of the

Neil Gorsuch Originalism
Judge Neil Gorsuch is President Donald Trump s selection to fill the Supreme Court seat that was left
open a year ago by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Gorsuch graduated from Columbia, Harvard
and Oxford, was a clerk for two Supreme Court justices and worked for a period of time at the
Department of Justice. He attended Harvard Law with former President of the United States Barack
Obama. Gorsuch has served on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, in Colorado since 2006.
Gorsuch is a person who adheres strictly to a text, also known as a textualist. He supports the legal

threat of filibuster during Gorsuch s confirmation hearing has led for Republicans, including Senator

National Crime Victimization Survey Analysis
The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR for short) and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS for
short) are two methods used by law enforcement to report the number of crimes happening monthly
and yearly, at minimum. The UCR makes monthly reports on Part 1 crimes (or the serious offenses)
and Part 2 crimes (anything that isn t a traffic violation or a Part 1 crime) that were reported to the
police and the number of arrests made. On the other hand, the NCVS does a national survey to
pinpoint crimes that were not reported to the police for whatever reason. Both reports offer valid ways
to get accurate numbers of crimes and even compare past crime rates with today s crime rates. Though
they both have validity, they also have errors that impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because less than 40 percent of people do report a crime that happened to them and only 25 percent of
rapes being reported, according to Siegel and Worrall, the UCR has been questioned on accuracy.
Because the UCR only reports crimes that have been officially reported, these reporting rates are not
as accurate as they would seem, especially with all the crimes that go unreported. While the NCVS is
able to accurately report more criminal activity (excluding homicide and arrests), it is also flawed.
This report relies heavily on personal memory and honesty of the victim. This report is also required
to omit personal drug use of the victim, meaning that there could be an issue with an interview if the
case was two sided due to drug involvement on the victim s

Why Did the Treaty of Maastricht Mark a Milestone in...
Why did the Treaty of Maastricht mark a milestone in creating a political union?
The Treaty of Maastricht, formerly known as the Treaty of the European Union came at a pivotal time
in European history. Eastern Europe was a victim of the collapse of Communism, which had a strong
impact on the European Commission (EC) as this meant new potential markets were open which they
were keen to take over (Bache, 2001:124). However, the collapse of Communism in the Soviet Union
meant that there was unsettlement in the east. During the same period of time there was possibility for
reunification in Germany. This was looked upon with great caution because many feared that this
could cause Germany Nationalism to ignite again. Due to these events ... Show more content on

For instance, the European Parliament now had the ability to veto legislation. Other institutional
changes saw the formation of a Committee of Regions and the Court of Justice be given the right to
fine member states that were not complying with its judgments (Bieler, 2009:Lecture 4). Moreover,
there were pivotal policy changes as it introduced education, public health, the environment and
consumer protection, again to promote Europe s supranational qualities.
Maastricht carried on to emphasize the necessity of European integration and the head s of
government agreed that this would be achieved by a three pillar structure. The three pillars were the
EC pillar (economic and social affairs), and the intergovernmental pillars of Common Foreign and
Security Policy (CFSP) and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) (Bache, 2001:124).

Hate And Love, And American Values In America
America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results in
society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the
primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will
impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the
individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and love or selfishness
versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate, love
would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect morals
have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its values
can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it praises
itself for.
Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to hate, one
must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring about it in some
form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead to exclusion and bad
choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger. Although an individual
s or a nation s goal may be for peace, the result can be hatred if proper steps laid out in Just War
Theory are not taken. Just War Theory acknowledges that there

Essay On Self Confidence
Self confidence is the foundation of success, achievement, and happiness. Unfortunately, the
foundation of self confidence can become shaky and unstable if someone that you look up to as a role
model hurts your self esteem and courage. One of the biggest role models in my life used to be my
first club soccer coach. He seemed brilliant, passionate, and willing to work with my team. This man
soon became the complete opposite of what I hoped he would be. I soon realized that he was a two
faced liar and one of the most awful people I have ever met. Little did my ten year old self know he
would be the downfall of my self confidence and he would slowly destroy any passion I had for the
sport I loved all with only a few words.
At the age of ten I was the most energetic, go lucky, confident girl. I excelled at my beloved sport,
soccer. I had been playing since I was just a mere five years old, far longer than the other girls.
Playing so long had helped me be at a higher level of skill than most of the other players on my team.
During my first season of competitive travel soccer I thought I had been blessed with an amazing
coach. His name was Kenrick Ramirez. Kenrick was from Trinidad and Tobago and had a thick
caribbean accent that at first I could not understand. I was intrigued by Kenrick s personality because
he was so much different than the other typical soccer coaches I had had my whole life. He seemed to

Soul and Reincarnation

questions I was not yet able to answer; that I had been born again because I had not fulfilled the task

The Greek writer Diordus Siculus (c. 60 BC 30 AD) noted that the Druids believed the souls of men
are immortal, and that after a definite number of years they live a second life when the soul passes to

s souls and the universe are indestructible, although at times fire and water may prevail. Even Julius
Caesar wrote of the Celts They wish to inculcate this as one of their leading tenets, that souls do not

However, analysts expect growing consumer incomes, the late 2012 release of the Wii U and the 2013
release of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to lead to a 4.3% revenue growth in 2014. Consumers spent
$1.1 billion on new physical games and consoles at U.S. retailers during the five week period from
Aug. 31 to Oct. 4, 2014, according to industry tracking firm The NPD Group. That is up 2 percent
from $1.08 billion over a similar period in 2013. The year long growth of new console sales is making
up for lackluster video game sales. Future growth expectations for the Video Games industry have
been significantly moderated, as the picture of the market for gaming on mobile platforms becomes
clearer. Since mobile games are sold at much lower prices compared to traditional console and PC
games, their rise may foretell a slowdown of the video game market in the United States. While the
recent launch of the next generation video game consoles is expected to rekindle interest in the more
expensive console gaming market, the rise of low cost, low margin mobile gaming market may weigh
on the overall gaming market. Consequently, this is expected to pull revenue downward as consumers
pay less per hour for gaming entertainment. Revenue is expected to reach $47.4 billion in 2019 as a

The Fight For Charlemagne
In the 700s the first knights fought for Charlemagne, the King of the Franks. Charlemagne used
soldiers and horseback to fight battles across the large empire. The soldiers were a very important

Foreshadowing in Three Dirges Essay
Foreshadowing In Three Dirges
A sense of ominous foreboding permeates the woeful passage from Three Dirges. The conflict is
immediately apparent
: Don Lazaro, you ve got five boys in Comitan teaching the campesinos how to read. That s
subversive. That s communist. So tonight, you have to kill them. Don Lazaro, the mayor of the war
torn village, San Martin Comitan, seems to have no choice but to carry out this heartless command.
His response is indicative of a desperate man searching for answers, yet already resigned to carrying
out the task at hand. What can I say? you tell me! cries an anguished Don Lazaro to the villagers. Is he
pleading for their understanding, or asking for a miraculous solution that would alter the path ... Show

The feeling of fear and sadness is further portrayed by the crying of the village women, . . . a woman s
anguish pierced the still, early morning, followed by yet a duet of wails, and then a full chorus of
cries. Clearly, these women intuitively or otherwise , know of wrenching torment awaiting the village.
The somber mood continues with the procession of religious officials making their way to the same
destination as the wailing women. In contrast, however, the religious principales have assumed a
formation of some sort; marching in six files, two abreast, ceremoniously fulfilling their obligation as
if all hope had already eroded.
That hope further dissipated when the young men, now being led each by an older man, made their
way to the cemetery. The cemetery was an eery prediction of what was surely now about to happen.
Don Lazaro has protested so much that there is nothing he can do, it now borders on the pathetic. Does
he know of some additional harm that would befall him if he doesn t carry out this sinister plan? The
young men, now willing to sacrifice their lives, and resigned to doing so, bravely meet their fate. The
five young men, each escorted now by an older man, followed the cofrades over the ridge of the hill
and dropped down on the other side just out of sight. Certainly the reader can see that, with the
movement of the young men out of sight, the terrible command is surely about to be carried out. Still
there may be time to

Visual Merchandise Guidelines For Retailers
Since approximately 90% of cues provided by an environment are digested through sight (Edwards
Shackley, 1992), more than ever it is a vital time for retailers to be reviewing their strategies with
respects to their Visual Merchandise Guidelines. Continuously, consumers are opting to take their
purchases online rather than experiencing the physical store environment. With constant innovative
technologies, retailers are finding novel ways to recreate the in store environment on screen; with the
high street being described as acting on borrowed time (guardian 2012). Retailers, such as New Look,
are keen to add any service that can generate sales and win intensified competitive share; it is
therefore crucial that the Visual Merchandise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Reflection Essay
As the first five weeks of Writing 39B have passed, I believe that I have made some improvements in
my writing as a result of the feedback from the professor, the multiple writing assignments, and
reading the Anteater s Guide to Writing and Rhetoric. Although I can still improve in all facets of my
writing, the progress I have made so far was very much needed. One of the stages of my development
took place in class. Although I was a bit reluctant and shy to participate at times in class, I learned a
lot. The way the professor analyzed the 9/11 conspiracy video and some of the chapters in the The
United States of Paranoia taught me how to see the author s purpose in creating the text and how the
author appealed to the audience by presenting the text in different mediums. The mini group work
done almost daily in class also helped me think more analytically about each text, which helped me
writing my final RA. One of the class works was analyzing the opening paragraph of The
Metamorphis by Franz Kafka. This task allowed me to see how the author s word choice can change
the complete tone of the text and how the audience reacts differently to each type of tone. At the times
in which I did participate, I felt that I contributed valuable information as the professor would usually
expand on my comment in a positive way. In addition, participating also allowed me to feel confident
about my ideas and thought process which enabled me to feel confident writing my assignments. From
the very first RIP assignment, the feedback I ve received helped in aiding my final RA. Prior to this
class, I didn t truly know how to be specific. Whether this be with a claim or audience, I was
describing things broadly. In my RIP #1, where I had to identify a specific group with a shared
interest. The group that I created was students in high school or college who are obsessed with social
media. With the feedback, I learned that I could ve made it more specific by choosing just high school
students not including college student and only Snapchat, and no other social media platforms.
Moving on, a drastic change in my writing can be seen in the differences between CR #1 and CR #2.
In CR #1, I explain that the author carries a casual yet

Ysleta Mission for Christianizing the Tigua Indians
Ysleta Mission
Ysleta, Texas
Mission Corpus Christi de la Ysleta, the first mission in Texas, was established by Antonio de Otermín
and Fray Francisco de Ayeta in 1682 and was maintained by Franciscans for christianizing the Tigua
Indians. The Tigua came as refugees and captives with the former Governor of New Mexico, Antonio
de Otermín on his retreat to the El Paso area after his unsuccessful attempt to recover New Mexico in
the winter of 1681 82 during the Pueblo Revolt. La Misión de la Ysleta del Sur, consecrated in 1682,
was built by the Tigua (Tewa, Tiwa) speaking peoples originally from Isleta and Sandia Pueblos in
New Mexico. The mission was located east of present day El Paso. The pueblo and mission were
dedicated to the Tiguas patron, St. Anthony of Padua, became the nucleus of a community that has
existed for 300 years the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Texas. Today, Ysleta Mission is
on the National Registry of Historic Places and part of the National Historic Trail system of El
Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.

The Tigua have faced many challenges in the past three hundred years since arriving in what is now
West Texas, and Mission Ysleta was become the place of meeting and mixing of cultures. The original
mission church at Ysleta del Sur is believed to have been built of mud chinked logs and willow reeds.

The World Is Too Much With Us And To Wordsworth Comparison
Being perfect examples of Romantic poetry, both The World Is Too Much With Us by William
Wordsworth and To Wordsworth by Percy Bysshe Shelley convey a similar message of loss and death.
However, Wordsworth focuses on the loss of connection between human beings and nature. Shelley,
on the other hand, directs his poem to Wordsworth himself and focuses on the symbolic death of
Wordsworth s poetic style. For instance, in The World Is Too Much With Us , Wordsworth personifies
the sea and winds by saying that she (the sea) [used to bare] her bosom to the moon and how the
winds that [used to howl] at all hours implying that their (sea and winds) actions were bold and daring.
He then uses a simile to compare their old daring

Child Support In California
Just like every state, California has guidelines in their statutes that outline the what, where, how, and
why of child support. The primary purpose of child support in Riverside, California is to do just that;
support the child financially in order to provide for their needs. As far as the courts are concerned, that
means whatever is in the best interest of the child (children).
The basics of what is included in California Family Code 4053:
The father and mother s most important and first obligation is to provide support for their child.
The child support obligation is mutual, consistent with what is in the best interest of the child, and is
calculated according to the income of both parents.

Likewise, child support may also reduce the imbalance in the standard of living for each parent.
California s cost of living is quite high and child support is ordered to reflect that fact.
California law surmises that the custodial parent, or the parent who contributes the most significant
amount of parenting time already contributes a significant amount of money and resources to support
the child. This factor can be rebutted depending on the circumstances.
California s guidelines for child support are intended to reduce litigation and conflict between parents.
The best interest of the child is the state s first priority regarding child support and the overall care of
the child.
Do these guidelines work as the legislature intends?
The goals of the statues regarding child support in Riverside, California are to prevent conflict
between parents, provide insurance that the child will have their needs met, and again, primarily
ensure their best interests are covered.

The Piedmont Essay
The Piedmont is located between the Coastal Plain and the Mountain regions, in the middle region of
the state. The origins of Piedmont are French, meaning foot of the mountain , because it s located at
the base of the Appalachians Mountains. From the western Coastal Plane to the mountains, the
elevations range from about 300 feet to near 1,500 feet (Seaman 2006). The fall line, or fault zone, lies
between the Coastal Plain and the Piedmont. The rivers that flow along the fault line are formed from
shoals, low waterfalls and rapids. As the rivers flow from the Piedmont to the coastal Plain the rocks
become younger and softer. The streams below the fall line are usually lethargic and smooth flowing.
The streams above the fall line are gravelly and shallow, making boating difficult. As for the land, the
Piedmont is called a plateau because it is high and mostly flat. Most geologist separate the Piedmont
into two different areas because the rock suites are so different. The eastern part, known as the
Carolina Slate Belt and then the western part, known as the Inner piedmont. My main area of focus

Hole was one of the works we viewed that showed a different kind of horror than any of the other
pieces we viewed. The works have similarities, but very different stories. Both works are similar in the

The other works had no visual aid and the pages were restricted to words on every page. Afterlife with
Archie had dialogue to aid in the book, but was unique from the first page. The book used different
shades of red and blue that helped in setting the mood. The first page of the book is blacked out with
red paint splattered on it like blood, the words This is how the end of the world begins... (Aguirre
Sacasa 1.) sets the mood for the book and gives the idea that this will be an intense journey through
the pages. The Black Hole is a short film and uses video and sound as the only means of
communication to the audience. There is no dialogue since the man in the film is the only person in
the office. This film relied heavily on using video to convey the message flickering lights and dark
shadows add a scary feeling in the film. All the other works we viewed had dialogue, since this film
did not it stood out among the others. Visualizing the horror lets the audience see exactly what the
author and artist envisioned. It allows the viewer to see the raw image the artist wanted us to see. In
other works, monsters and places are described to the viewer and the viewer can make visual images,
but that varies among every individual. Visual aid deletes the variation among viewers and captures

was the fear of racial and political decline. Barely half a century earlier, Thomas Macaulay had
declared the history of England to be emphatically the history of progress , but late Victorians living in
the wake of Darwinian evolution had lost the earlier positivism of their age. Uncertainty over the
immutability of Britain s historical identity, what historian Tim Murray has called the threat of the past
, was manifested in the Victorian obsession with ancient times and archaeology. Haggard was greatly
interested in the ruins discovered at Zimbabwe in the 1870 s.
Haggard was strongly influenced by archaeology and evolutionary theories, especially ideas about the

The use of the word savage to describe her makes it clear that Holly has little respect for other cultures
and feels equally justified in his imposition of Western values on the Amahagger people. Additionally,
the idea that he would always creep u once upon his knees once he began to do so demonstrates a
feeling of being dehumanized by showing respect to this savage queen, and suggests that an ascertain

Why We Should Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana, in a lot of people s minds, is a horrible drug that has very harmful effects, but little do the
people know that it is actually one of the most helpful drugs in the world. Marijuana is shown to help
with many illness including P.T.S.D., epilepsy, and even chronic depression. Many states have already
learned of these health benefits, and have legalized marijuana medically. For some states it s even
allowed recreationally for everyday usage. Overall, the government is wasting their time busting drug
dealers and spending lives and money when they should just legalize it. First of all, marijuana is very
helpful when it comes to medical use. Marijuana a.k.a. weed is a drug that is grown and can be used in

Honore De Balzac And The Napoleonic Period
An unsure Pope Pius VII, not wanting to place a crown on the head of the soon to be Emperor of
France in the extravagant Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris, who then takes matters into his own hand
and places the crown on his own head (Selin Par. 1, 2, 13). This is the situation of Napoleon
Bonaparte. After overthrowing the Directory in 1799, Napoleon worked to satisfy the needs of the
people and recreate and better the French empire by ratifying reforms, such as the Napoleonic Code
(Ligard Par. 2). This reform, and other aspects of French culture, helped shape the work of the
renowned French novelist, Honore de Balzac. Therefore, France s culture during the years 1800 to
1814 were shaped by its monarchy while the literature of Honore de Balzac evinces its cultural
connection.
From the years 1804 to 1814, also referred to as the Napoleonic Age, France became an empire, ruled
by its first emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. When Bonaparte became emperor in 1804, it was because
the Senate who had all been chosen by Napoleon passed a law making him Emperor of the French
(Wilde Par. 6). If it were not for the people he put in Senate, Napoleon would not have become
emperor because citizens were already beginning to disapprove the changes he was making to their
government. Since he is able to chose men who will support him and follow his commands in Senate,
it reveals how much power Bonaparte really holds in his empire. Bonaparte surrounded himself by his

name Colosseum from the nearby statue of Nero, called the Colossus (Lubell). The building was part
of a wider construction programme begun by Emperor Vespasian in order to restore Rome to its
former glory prior to the turmoil of the recent civil war. Located in the heart of Ancient Rome, the

Disadvantages of Biofuel Production
According to this article written by David Pimentel, Alison Marklein, Megan A. Toth, Marissa N.
Karpoff, Gillian S. Paul, Robert McCormack, Joanna Kyriazis, and Tim Krueger, the production of
biofuels is not only energetically wasteful in most circumstances, but it is also causing food shortages
throughout the world. By creating biofuels throughout United States, we are not only using up
valuable farmlands, but we are actually becoming more dependent upon foreign oil.
Throughout this article several statistics are given to show how energetically unfavorable the
production of biofuels really is. Not only does the production of biofuels require huge amounts of
resources like water, cropland, and chemical fertilizers, but in many cases it also consumes more net
energy in fossil fuels than it produces in alternative energy resources. Some examples of biofuel
production throughout the world include biomass resources, corn ethanol, grass and cellulosic ethanol,
soybean biodiesel, and algae for oil production.
Renewable biomass resources on planet Earth amount to nearly 92 quads or 19% of the global energy
use per year. One quad is equal to 1 quadrillion or 1015 BTU s. To place this into perspective, a little
over 1,000 BTU s are in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The majority of these biomass resources
come from wood harvested from forests throughout the world. Included in this biomass calculation is
the total forest biomass production that yields 38 quads or 8% of the

If you are thinking about getting extensions or if you already have extensions, it is important that you
use the right products and that you use them correctly in order to get the most out of your extensions.
Here are a few tips to guide you in the right direction when it comes to hair products and your
extensions.
Tip #1: Avoid Alcohol Based Products
The most important rule to remember when it comes to hair care products is to avoid using alcohol
based products. You can find out if a product has alcohol in it by looking at the ingredient list on the

Remember to start brushing your extensions near the bottom, just like you do with your hair, and
slowly work your way up them.
Tilt Your Head Back: Once you get in the shower, get your hair wet first. Tilt your head back in order
to get it wet. Do not flip your head and your hair over; this will cause your extensions to get tangled.
Apply Shampoo In Sections: Instead of scrubbing the shampoo into your hair, carefully apply it to
small sections, working from top to bottom, and gentle rub in the soap. This will help prevent tangles.
Rinse: Finally, rinse the shampoo out of your hair. If any of your extensions got tangled in the process,
just use a wide toothed comb while you are still in the shower to carefully work out any tangles.
Tip #3: Leave In Condition Is Okay
After you shampoo, you can apply leave in conditioner to your hair. Applying leave in conditioner to
your hair every couple of days will keep both your regular hair and your extensions look

The Suez Crisis and Sir Antony Eden
The Suez Crisis is often cited by some historians as one of the worst historical decisions that imprinted
an indelible mark on the then British premier Sir Antony Eden. More often than not the decision by
Eden to invade Egypt following a disagreement about nationalization of the Suez Canal is often cited
as a the worst foreign policy decision that destroyed Eden political career and humiliated British
empire in its wake. The decision by Eden to use military force against Nasser is often viewed by many
as arising from a personal grudge towards Nasser, while only a few defend the fact that Eden had
attempted to resolve the looming conflict peacefully.
A Brief Introduction about Sir Robert Antony Eden It is unfortunate that despite Sir Antony Eden
having successfully served as Britain for three decades as a foreign secretary and his subsequent rise
to become the British prime minister in 1955 was overshadowed by the 1956 Suez Crisis that saw him
tender his resignation after serving approximately 18 months in office. While justifying this action,
Eden cited that he was protecting British commercial interests of which the recent nationalization of
the Suez Canal by Nasser seemed to threaten. Eden strongly perceived Nasser as a dictator and that his
actions could easily be replicated with the actions of Hitler and Mussolini that subsequently ignited
World War.
Born to a baronet in County Durham on 12 June 1987, Antony Eden was educated at Eton and oxford

If the hospital creates an ineffective budget then the hospital will have to make tough decisions on
holding off certain non vital services to veterans until the new fiscal year. Also, by creating an
effective budget it will benefit management because they will be able to keep their jobs for using the
tax payer s money effectively. If they create an ineffective budget and veterans services are delayed
then some management may lose their jobs.
In outlining a budget there are two phases that must be determined to create a budget, an operating
phase and a financial phase. Developing a new operating budget starts with examining budgets from
previous years and identifying what components are going to change, by how much and if any new
components need to be added or existing ones reduced or cut (Budget Challenges, 2012). In the first
phase of the budget it needs to be determined how much money is going to be needed to operate the

Animal Testing For The Sole Benefit Of Humans
For years, there has been a debate regarding the use of animals in medical testing for the sole benefit
of humans. Many people believe that testing on nonhuman animals solve the many issues that humans
face, but most of the time animals are exploited and put through painful experimental processes. The
purpose of this paper is to examine the possible alternatives to animal testing and the evaluate whether
there is a reduction in animals being used for experiments. The author of this paper will examine four
journal articles titled as the following: Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives, Scientists
and Animal Research: Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?, Strategic Focus on 3R Principles Reveals Major
Reductions in the Use of Animals in Pharmaceutical Toxicity Testing, No Animals Harmed: Toward a
Paradigm Shift in Toxicity Testing. Each journal article highlights different arguments of the said
problem and reveals information about animal testing that many may not be aware of. The author will
summarize all four journal articles and apply a response to each one.
Joel Marks, the writer of the Accept No Substitutes: The Ethics of Alternatives journal, aims to
express the reason why alternatives to animal testing should not be considered. Marks (2012) starts
out by stating that it is common to argue that animal experimentation is justified by its essential
contribution to the advancement of medical science (p. 1). According to Marks, this argument contains

and she said something to Mr.Barnett. She does this because she doesn t think that it s fair to be
treated differently just because she is a different color than others. Little Man gets a dirty old book and
all the whites get nice and new books. Little Man likes things to be nice and in order. He looks in the

Water Resource Management ( Wrm )
Introduction: Water is extremely vital for all forms of life, from microorganisms to humans to
ecosystems alike. Water is a key factor in driving economic and social development within countries,
impacting agriculture, energy, sanitation and health, gender equality etc (World Bank, 2014). For these
reasons humans have invested an abundant amount of time, labor, and money into perfecting water
infrastructures in an effort to provide water services for populations worldwide. Water resource
management (WRM) goal is to manage and allocate water resources in a manner that satisfies the
demand of domestic, agricultural and industrial water sectors. Often left out of the equation is the
water demand needed for ecosystem sustainability. WRM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ecosystem Services: Aquatic ecosystems play a pivotal role for living organisms, providing life
supporting services, along with valuable goods and services for society. Aquatic ecosystems are able
to decrease flood damages by storing season floodwaters. They supply humans with water for
domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors and aid in recharging groundwater supplies, which is an
essential source of potable water. Furthermore, the recharging of groundwater aids in drought
mitigation. Freshwater ecosystems play a similar role to water treatment plants in that they filter out
pollutants and purify water. They support a variety of plant and animal life, which ultimately creates a
robust food chain, supporting human and wildlife consumption. Wetlands reduce greenhouse gas
emissions by storing carbon dioxide rather than releasing it into the atmosphere. As mentioned above,
ecosystems help mitigate water related disasters. Aquatic ecosystems provide nutrients to estuaries,
river deltas, and maintain soil fertility. Additionally, by delivering freshwater, freshwater ecosystems
are able to maintain salinity balances within estuaries (Postel, 2008; SRWP, 2007; GWP, n.d.).
Water Demand for Ecosystem/Environmental Flow Requirements: Aquatic ecosystems rely on water
to survive and if the amount of water they rely on dwindles, the ecosystem becomes negatively
impacted and the services they provide will

The Lincoln Lawyer By Michael Connelly
1. Full Title, author s name, copyright date, and number of pages. 2. The Lincoln Lawyer is a 404 page
crime fiction novel written by Michael Connelly, 2005. Criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller is
presented with his latest client, Beverly Hills playboy, Louis Roulet. Roulet is accused of rape and
murder but this does not trouble Haller; on the contrary, he revels in it because it means he is being
offered a franchise case, or a case offering a huge payout. Naturally, Haller takes the offer but what is
unique about this case is that for the first time ever, Haller thinks he may have an innocent client. This
is very worrying as Haller s father once said There is no client as scary as an innocent man. As the
case continues, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Haller meets Roulet for the first time in jail, the author lightly introduces the issue of jailhouse
snitches. Although it is only a brief moment that Haller urges Roulet to stay quiet, it is an important
moment that highlights an extremely common problem in today s jail system, which is that of
eavesdroppers and the way they can further endanger their fellow criminals. Furthermore, Connelly
excels at comparing the legal system to Haller s own philosophies. Much of the book revolves around
the concept that the law is a machine, and that there are many gray areas. Haller uses all of the
technicalities of the law in order to provide for the best defense of the client, and it is these
technicalities or gray areas that is what makes the whole novel so believable. An example of this is
when his investigator, Raul Levin, gives Haller a video of Roulet meeting the victim at the bar. Haller
knows that he will have to turn it over to the prosecution in accordance with the rule of discovery, but
at the same time, he uses it to his advantage because he didn t technically have to turn over anything
until I was sure I planned to use it in trial (105). In today s legal system, there are countless instances
of cases winning on technicalities or on very unspecific laws, so much that is clear to see how Haller s
methods are constantly replicated in the real world. 5. Haller is initially a very unlikeable character

The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog )
1. Introduction:
Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed using
either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional architecture or
using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are developed using a
combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo,
2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based playing games where players role is fixed.
Other is real time strategy based games where player s actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star
Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For
entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience, people are showing greater interest in MOG. In
recent years, organizations started to using distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture
for developing MOG due to its robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional
client server architecture has limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to
maintain servers when online players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004).
The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network.
Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for players
and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is providing best

Poverty In Memphis
Memphis is notoriously known for its shocking poverty rates, which are higher than the poverty rates
in Shelby County for every category (2015 Memphis Poverty Fact Sheet), and that is not a good thing.
Memphis is also known for its high unemployment rates and its low availability of a skilled workforce
(Does Memphis Have a Fighting Chance), and that is not great, either. Finally, it is well known that
Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the country (Memphis TN: Crime Data and Crime
Rates), and that just takes the cake. While it is common to focus on these negative aspects about
Memphis, it is not a complete description of this multifaceted city. It is my position that there are
many positive aspects to Memphis that are overlooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are home to the University of Memphis, a public research university, which has enrolled more than
24,000 students. We are also home to Rhodes College, a private liberal arts college that currently
enrolls over 2,000 students. Memphis is also the most vigorous in the country when it comes to
working towards a better education. In 2005, the Tennessee General Assembly passed the Voluntary
Pre K (VPK) for Tennessee Act, which resulted in a bigger investment towards early childhood
education. In 2009, the Teacher Effectiveness Initiative (TEI) promised to raise money for education
and ensure an effective teacher was put in every class room. In 2013, Tennessee was named the fastest
improving state in the nation per the National Assessment of Educational Progress scores (America s
Most Ambitious Education Reforms). Memphis has been and still is working strenuously towards a
better education system every day.
Finally, it has already been said but bears repeating: Memphis is where Graceland is. It is the final
resting place of The King. It is the single most important place in the entire world. That alone makes
Memphis not only one of the greatest American cities, but one of the greatest cities in the world.
Anyone who disagrees hates not only rock and roll and barbeque, but everything that makes America

Comparison Between Call Of Duty And Minecraft
Introduction I like to play video games because it gives me a rush when you do something right or
when you kill someone that your mission says to kill. Video games are also good for your hand eye
coordination. The two games I that I like to play the most would be Call of Duty and Minecraft. I like
to play Call of Duty because you get to shoot and kill the bad people that are trying to kill you, there is
also always another mission for you to do. I like Minecraft because you get to build things and create
beautiful houses. You can also get the ability to care for virtual animals and name them.
Game #1: Call of Duty
Description
Call of Duty is a first person shooter video game franchise. The series began on Microsoft Windows,
and later expanded to handhelds and consoles. Several spin offs have been released. The Call of Duty
games are published and owned by Activision. While Infinity Ward is still a developer, Treyarch and
Sledgehammer games also develop several of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Description
Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus Notch Persson
and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable

A Serious Drought In California
California is in a very serious drought. It has changed the landscape, growth patterns, and lives of
many animals and humans. We no longer live in a prosperous and fertile state with plenty of
resources. The landscape has changed because the dry dirt receives no nutrients and the scorching sun
does not help. It ruins the terrain and normal levels the ecosystem started out with. Without the crucial
source and the necessity of water, nothing is fruitful and normal growth patterns of crops and wildlife
are being disrupted. Animals are dying and going out of their normal habitats in search of food and
water. Keep in mind, without sufficient water, crops and fertile dirt can not go very far. This will not
only affect animals but us, humans as well.

Bodily Capital Case
Bodily Capital Plus sized women were less likely to receive a full business suit, and the larger the
woman was in clothing size, the stronger this effect became. In other words, a woman s body size
compounded any inequalities across all other dimensions. Strikingly, over half of all clients served by
SWO WC in 2013 wore clothing size 12 or greater: 24 percent wore sizes 0 through 6, 19 percent
wore sizes 8 or 10, 24 percent wore sizes 12 or 14, 25 percent wore sizes 16 through 24, wore 11
percent wore sizes 26 and larger (6 percent were unknown). In other words, 51 percent of all SWO

Essay about The Intent of Bouwsma s Descartes Evil Genius
The Intent of Bouwsma s Descartes Evil Genius
Bouwsma s essay critiques Descartes use of the evil demon in his Meditations on First Philosophy
through the creation of two situations in which the evil genius attempts to use his powers for their
express purpose, that of deception. Bouwsma conveniently admits the existence of four or five clear
and distinct ideas and goes on to show that the evil genius is capable of deceiving mankind about
everything else, specifically sensory perceptions. Bouwsma s main point in taking this approach is to
express his view that Descartes hypothesis that one might be deceived by an evil demon is incoherent.
Bouwsma s second adventure is supposed to indicate that once there becomes no way ... Show more

Tom experiences this illusion, but he is not deceived by it because he recognizes the difference
between paper and everything that is not paper, even though everything has been carefully crafted to
fool him. Bouwsma s point of this is to use Tom s recognition of the difference between a flower made
out of paper and a real flower, and consequently his recognition that everything but paper had changed
its nature, to introduce his idea that people have a solidly formed concept of what things are, that a
flower is a flower, and not paper. In the second adventure Bouwsma introduces a thick illusion, where
everything is as it would normally be experienced, in which the evil demon exerts his full power and
submerses Tom into a dream world, because the first adventure failed to fully take into account
Decartes statement And all other external things are nought but illusions. The evil demon destroys
everything, but creates illusions in order to mislead Tom into assuming that everything is as it was,
that flowers are flowers and may be smelled and felt and have their blossoms plucked and so forth.
The problem that this illusion creates is that it has become too real. Bouwsma is arguing that since to
Tom the illusions have become indistinguishable from what Tom previously knew as reality, the new
dream world of the evil demon has become reality. The demon s illusion has become so real to Tom
that when the

Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and love or selfishness versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. • 20. Foreshadowing in Three Dirges Essay Foreshadowing In Three Dirges A sense of ominous foreboding permeates the woeful passage from Three Dirges. The conflict is immediately apparent : Don Lazaro, you ve got five boys in Comitan teaching the campesinos how to read. That s subversive. That s communist. So tonight, you have to kill them. Don Lazaro, the mayor of the war torn village, San Martin Comitan, seems to have no choice but to carry out this heartless command. His response is indicative of a desperate man searching for answers, yet already resigned to carrying out the task at hand. What can I say? you tell me! cries an anguished Don Lazaro to the villagers. Is he pleading for their understanding, or asking for a miraculous solution that would alter the path ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The feeling of fear and sadness is further portrayed by the crying of the village women, . . . a woman s anguish pierced the still, early morning, followed by yet a duet of wails, and then a full chorus of cries. Clearly, these women intuitively or otherwise , know of wrenching torment awaiting the village. The somber mood continues with the procession of religious officials making their way to the same destination as the wailing women. In contrast, however, the religious principales have assumed a formation of some sort; marching in six files, two abreast, ceremoniously fulfilling their obligation as if all hope had already eroded. That hope further dissipated when the young men, now being led each by an older man, made their way to the cemetery. The cemetery was an eery prediction of what was surely now about to happen. Don Lazaro has protested so much that there is nothing he can do, it now borders on the pathetic. Does he know of some additional harm that would befall him if he doesn t carry out this sinister plan? The young men, now willing to sacrifice their lives, and resigned to doing so, bravely meet their fate. The five young men, each escorted now by an older man, followed the cofrades over the ridge of the hill and dropped down on the other side just out of sight. Certainly the reader can see that, with the movement of the young men out of sight, the terrible command is surely about to be carried out. Still there may be time to ... • 22. Personal Reflection Essay As the first five weeks of Writing 39B have passed, I believe that I have made some improvements in my writing as a result of the feedback from the professor, the multiple writing assignments, and reading the Anteater s Guide to Writing and Rhetoric. Although I can still improve in all facets of my writing, the progress I have made so far was very much needed. One of the stages of my development took place in class. Although I was a bit reluctant and shy to participate at times in class, I learned a lot. The way the professor analyzed the 9/11 conspiracy video and some of the chapters in the The United States of Paranoia taught me how to see the author s purpose in creating the text and how the author appealed to the audience by presenting the text in different mediums. The mini group work done almost daily in class also helped me think more analytically about each text, which helped me writing my final RA. One of the class works was analyzing the opening paragraph of The Metamorphis by Franz Kafka. This task allowed me to see how the author s word choice can change the complete tone of the text and how the audience reacts differently to each type of tone. At the times in which I did participate, I felt that I contributed valuable information as the professor would usually expand on my comment in a positive way. In addition, participating also allowed me to feel confident about my ideas and thought process which enabled me to feel confident writing my assignments. From the very first RIP assignment, the feedback I ve received helped in aiding my final RA. Prior to this class, I didn t truly know how to be specific. Whether this be with a claim or audience, I was describing things broadly. In my RIP #1, where I had to identify a specific group with a shared interest. The group that I created was students in high school or college who are obsessed with social media. With the feedback, I learned that I could ve made it more specific by choosing just high school students not including college student and only Snapchat, and no other social media platforms. Moving on, a drastic change in my writing can be seen in the differences between CR #1 and CR #2. In CR #1, I explain that the author carries a casual yet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The World Is Too Much With Us And To Wordsworth Comparison Being perfect examples of Romantic poetry, both The World Is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth and To Wordsworth by Percy Bysshe Shelley convey a similar message of loss and death. However, Wordsworth focuses on the loss of connection between human beings and nature. Shelley, on the other hand, directs his poem to Wordsworth himself and focuses on the symbolic death of Wordsworth s poetic style. • 26. The Piedmont Essay The Piedmont is located between the Coastal Plain and the Mountain regions, in the middle region of the state. The origins of Piedmont are French, meaning foot of the mountain , because it s located at the base of the Appalachians Mountains. From the western Coastal Plane to the mountains, the elevations range from about 300 feet to near 1,500 feet (Seaman 2006). The fall line, or fault zone, lies between the Coastal Plain and the Piedmont. The rivers that flow along the fault line are formed from shoals, low waterfalls and rapids. As the rivers flow from the Piedmont to the coastal Plain the rocks become younger and softer. The streams below the fall line are usually lethargic and smooth flowing. The streams above the fall line are gravelly and shallow, making boating difficult. As for the land, the Piedmont is called a plateau because it is high and mostly flat. Barely half a century earlier, Thomas Macaulay had declared the history of England to be emphatically the history of progress , but late Victorians living in the wake of Darwinian evolution had lost the earlier positivism of their age. Uncertainty over the immutability of Britain s historical identity, what historian Tim Murray has called the threat of the past , was manifested in the Victorian obsession with ancient times and archaeology. Honore De Balzac And The Napoleonic Period An unsure Pope Pius VII, not wanting to place a crown on the head of the soon to be Emperor of France in the extravagant Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris, who then takes matters into his own hand and places the crown on his own head (Selin Par. 1, 2, 13). This is the situation of Napoleon Bonaparte. After overthrowing the Directory in 1799, Napoleon worked to satisfy the needs of the people and recreate and better the French empire by ratifying reforms, such as the Napoleonic Code (Ligard Par. 2). This reform, and other aspects of French culture, helped shape the work of the renowned French novelist, Honore de Balzac. Therefore, France s culture during the years 1800 to 1814 were shaped by its monarchy while the literature of Honore de Balzac evinces its cultural connection. When Bonaparte became emperor in 1804, it was because the Senate who had all been chosen by Napoleon passed a law making him Emperor of the French (Wilde Par. 6). If it were not for the people he put in Senate, Napoleon would not have become emperor because citizens were already beginning to disapprove the changes he was making to their government. • 33. Disadvantages of Biofuel Production According to this article written by David Pimentel, Alison Marklein, Megan A. Toth, Marissa N. Karpoff, Gillian S. Paul, Robert McCormack, Joanna Kyriazis, and Tim Krueger, the production of biofuels is not only energetically wasteful in most circumstances, but it is also causing food shortages throughout the world. By creating biofuels throughout United States, we are not only using up valuable farmlands, but we are actually becoming more dependent upon foreign oil. Throughout this article several statistics are given to show how energetically unfavorable the production of biofuels really is. Not only does the production of biofuels require huge amounts of resources like water, cropland, and chemical fertilizers, but in many cases it also consumes more net energy in fossil fuels than it produces in alternative energy resources. Some examples of biofuel production throughout the world include biomass resources, corn ethanol, grass and cellulosic ethanol, soybean biodiesel, and algae for oil production. Renewable biomass resources on planet Earth amount to nearly 92 quads or 19% of the global energy use per year. One quad is equal to 1 quadrillion or 1015 BTU s. More often than not the decision by Eden to invade Egypt following a disagreement about nationalization of the Suez Canal is often cited as a the worst foreign policy decision that destroyed Eden political career and humiliated British empire in its wake. The decision by Eden to use military force against Nasser is often viewed by many as arising from a personal grudge towards Nasser, while only a few defend the fact that Eden had attempted to resolve the looming conflict peacefully. They supply humans with water for domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors and aid in recharging groundwater supplies, which is an essential source of potable water. Furthermore, the recharging of groundwater aids in drought mitigation. Freshwater ecosystems play a similar role to water treatment plants in that they filter out pollutants and purify water. They support a variety of plant and animal life, which ultimately creates a robust food chain, supporting human and wildlife consumption. Wetlands reduce greenhouse gas emissions by storing carbon dioxide rather than releasing it into the atmosphere. As mentioned above, ecosystems help mitigate water related disasters. Aquatic ecosystems provide nutrients to estuaries, river deltas, and maintain soil fertility. Additionally, by delivering freshwater, freshwater ecosystems are able to maintain salinity balances within estuaries (Postel, 2008; SRWP, 2007; GWP, n.d.). Water Demand for Ecosystem/Environmental Flow Requirements: Aquatic ecosystems rely on water to survive and if the amount of water they rely on dwindles, the ecosystem becomes negatively impacted and the services they provide will ... • 41. The Lincoln Lawyer By Michael Connelly 1. Full Title, author s name, copyright date, and number of pages. 2. The Lincoln Lawyer is a 404 page crime fiction novel written by Michael Connelly, 2005. Criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller is presented with his latest client, Beverly Hills playboy, Louis Roulet. Roulet is accused of rape and murder but this does not trouble Haller; on the contrary, he revels in it because it means he is being offered a franchise case, or a case offering a huge payout. Naturally, Haller takes the offer but what is unique about this case is that for the first time ever, Haller thinks he may have an innocent client. This is very worrying as Haller s father once said There is no client as scary as an innocent man. As the case continues, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Haller meets Roulet for the first time in jail, the author lightly introduces the issue of jailhouse snitches. Although it is only a brief moment that Haller urges Roulet to stay quiet, it is an important moment that highlights an extremely common problem in today s jail system, which is that of eavesdroppers and the way they can further endanger their fellow criminals. Furthermore, Connelly excels at comparing the legal system to Haller s own philosophies. Much of the book revolves around the concept that the law is a machine, and that there are many gray areas. Haller uses all of the technicalities of the law in order to provide for the best defense of the client, and it is these technicalities or gray areas that is what makes the whole novel so believable. An example of this is when his investigator, Raul Levin, gives Haller a video of Roulet meeting the victim at the bar. Haller knows that he will have to turn it over to the prosecution in accordance with the rule of discovery, but at the same time, he uses it to his advantage because he didn t technically have to turn over anything until I was sure I planned to use it in trial (105). In today s legal system, there are countless instances of cases winning on technicalities or on very unspecific laws, so much that is clear to see how Haller s methods are constantly replicated in the real world. 5. Haller is initially a very unlikeable character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog ) 1. Introduction: Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience, people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client server architecture has limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network. Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is providing best gaming software with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Poverty In Memphis Memphis is notoriously known for its shocking poverty rates, which are higher than the poverty rates in Shelby County for every category (2015 Memphis Poverty Fact Sheet), and that is not a good thing. Memphis is also known for its high unemployment rates and its low availability of a skilled workforce (Does Memphis Have a Fighting Chance), and that is not great, either. Finally, it is well known that Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the country (Memphis TN: Crime Data and Crime Rates), and that just takes the cake. While it is common to focus on these negative aspects about Memphis, it is not a complete description of this multifaceted city. It is my position that there are many positive aspects to Memphis that are overlooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are home to the University of Memphis, a public research university, which has enrolled more than 24,000 students. We are also home to Rhodes College, a private liberal arts college that currently enrolls over 2,000 students. Memphis is also the most vigorous in the country when it comes to working towards a better education. In 2005, the Tennessee General Assembly passed the Voluntary Pre K (VPK) for Tennessee Act, which resulted in a bigger investment towards early childhood education. In 2009, the Teacher Effectiveness Initiative (TEI) promised to raise money for education and ensure an effective teacher was put in every class room. In 2013, Tennessee was named the fastest improving state in the nation per the National Assessment of Educational Progress scores (America s Most Ambitious Education Reforms). Memphis has been and still is working strenuously towards a better education system every day. Finally, it has already been said but bears repeating: Memphis is where Graceland is. It is the final resting place of The King. It is the single most important place in the entire world. That alone makes Memphis not only one of the greatest American cities, but one of the greatest cities in the world. Video games are also good for your hand eye coordination. The two games I that I like to play the most would be Call of Duty and Minecraft. I like to play Call of Duty because you get to shoot and kill the bad people that are trying to kill you, there is also always another mission for you to do. I like Minecraft because you get to build things and create beautiful houses. You can also get the ability to care for virtual animals and name them. • 45. A Serious Drought In California California is in a very serious drought. It has changed the landscape, growth patterns, and lives of many animals and humans. We no longer live in a prosperous and fertile state with plenty of resources. The landscape has changed because the dry dirt receives no nutrients and the scorching sun does not help. It ruins the terrain and normal levels the ecosystem started out with. Without the crucial source and the necessity of water, nothing is fruitful and normal growth patterns of crops and wildlife are being disrupted. Animals are dying and going out of their normal habitats in search of food and water. Keep in mind, without sufficient water, crops and fertile dirt can not go very far. This will not only affect animals but us, humans as well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Essay about The Intent of Bouwsma s Descartes Evil Genius The Intent of Bouwsma s Descartes Evil Genius Bouwsma s essay critiques Descartes use of the evil demon in his Meditations on First Philosophy through the creation of two situations in which the evil genius attempts to use his powers for their express purpose, that of deception. Bouwsma conveniently admits the existence of four or five clear and distinct ideas and goes on to show that the evil genius is capable of deceiving mankind about everything else, specifically sensory perceptions. Bouwsma s main point in taking this approach is to express his view that Descartes hypothesis that one might be deceived by an evil demon is incoherent. Bouwsma s second adventure is supposed to indicate that once there becomes no way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom experiences this illusion, but he is not deceived by it because he recognizes the difference between paper and everything that is not paper, even though everything has been carefully crafted to fool him. Bouwsma s point of this is to use Tom s recognition of the difference between a flower made out of paper and a real flower, and consequently his recognition that everything but paper had changed its nature, to introduce his idea that people have a solidly formed concept of what things are, that a flower is a flower, and not paper. In the second adventure Bouwsma introduces a thick illusion, where everything is as it would normally be experienced, in which the evil demon exerts his full power and submerses Tom into a dream world, because the first adventure failed to fully take into account Decartes statement And all other external things are nought but illusions. The evil demon destroys everything, but creates illusions in order to mislead Tom into assuming that everything is as it was, that flowers are flowers and may be smelled and felt and have their blossoms plucked and so forth. The problem that this illusion creates is that it has become too real. Bouwsma is arguing that since to Tom the illusions have become indistinguishable from what Tom previously knew as reality, the new dream world of the evil demon has become reality. The demon s illusion has become so real to Tom that when the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
