Essay on The Development Stage in Cornella Brothers Inc
The development stage in instructional design is an extremely important stage. Without a proper
development plan put in place instructional designers can become easily frustrated and expending
additional hours to do research to put the course in place. This is the stage where the content is not
only written or developed but the content is also organized (University of Idaho, n.d.). It is imperative
that this stage is done correctly so as to deliver information to students that will help them learn to the
fullest and really grasp the information. The following will discuss what happens in the development
stage at Cornella Brothers Inc. when developing a safety meeting.

When deciding on a safety meeting, managers need to decide what the company needs to address with
their employees and then the Safety Officer at Cornella will create a Power Point or show pictures of
the violations (Work Place Safety Experts, 2010).
Inputting Technology Cornella Brothers is a medium sized family business. The organization is
nowhere near being large enough to have an IT Department. Due to this managers and the safety
officer hold many hats in the organization. The Safety Officer or one of the managers will input the
information into technology. It would be nice to have an IT Department or even an accountant to do
the billing but these tasks falls upon the managers.
Beta Testing There really is no beta test involved in the safety classes. Employees are expected to
follow the guidelines put in place at these classes. Managers will ensure that the employees are
following government regulations and the company s regulations. A part of their employment
obligation is following the safety rules and managers do enforce this. During the classes there is a
discussion period in which employees have the opportunity to voice their concerns or ask questions; in
this way managers can be sure the employees understand what is expected of them and can respond
immediately or discuss pertinent matter further.
Conclusion
At Cornella Brothers, the subject matter experts are the ones who author the

Describe A Happy Family Analysis
I m going to tell you about one of my friends, Sumi, and her family, who live right next to my
apartment. We have been neighbors for many years. Their house in Vietnam was very close to mine,
and when my family moved to New Zealand, we rent an apartment near theirs. I met Sumi when I was
in secondary school. She is the only child in the family so she gets the undivided love and attention of
her parents. Her parents have only her to spend the money on and not have to share it among other
siblings. So, when she was a child, she got more toys than normal, and she used to share toys with me.
She is the one who taught me play chess and always gives me a shoulder to cry on when I need
emotional support.
Her father is a lawyer while his wife is a school teacher. Both of them are very kind and highly
educated. I think they are a very happy couple. I have experienced some events where the resolved
their arguments without yelling and without trying to win the argument. They set their egos aside.
They often spend time together by travelling to different regions of Vietnam. While they were
travelling, Sumi stayed with my family.
I like this family because all members in this family are lovely, kind and obliging.

It was amid a midyear break when the inverter at my place required an overhauling which was
expected by organization s arrangement. In any case, the organization lost a track of its past records
that demonstrated the third due administration. After a great deal of bothers and protests the issue was
settled. Notwithstanding, this occurrence made me end with that organization and joining another. A
large number of companies are unable to keep up the track of their administrations which causes them
a big time loss.
Each business plans to build its deal breaking its past records. Furthermore, the best way to do it is to
draw in new clients as well as to keep up them after deals. An organization that prioritizes its
customers will always be referred. The primary purpose behind the decrease of offers in an
organization is its absence of duty to give appropriate administrations to its clients. An enlisted
grumbling is here and there which is sometimes not attended by the organization which prompts
expanded grievances among the shoppers prompting decrease in the sales. Sometimes the organization
is not ready to keep up the record of the administrations of a client which prompts a more prominent
perplexity in the association. Another issue related to less customer satisfaction is the inability to solve

This Earth Of Mankind Has Been A Cruel Yet Memorable Story...
This Earth of Mankind has been a cruel yet memorable story by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This Earth of
Mankind, the first in a collection of four novels, gives the readers a glimpse into the colonial period of
the Dutch Indies. Minke, a young Native man, narrates the story and shares his thoughts throughout
the novel. The basic premise of the story revolves around Minke experiencing many social injustices,
meeting remarkable characters, and developing his own opinion on the world around him. Tragedy
strikes Minke when his wife, Annelies, is forcibly taken away shortly after their marriage. The plot,
however, is not the highlight of the novel. The star of the story is the underlying message. From the
very front cover of the novel is a clue into what it is about. Pramoedya littered the story with themes
and ideas that tackle the issue of social discrimination and injustice. One of the more prevalent themes
throughout the novel is race. In This Earth of Mankind, there is a huge disparity among Pure
Europeans, Natives, and Indos a mixture of European and Native. The power of an individual is
dictated by the amount of European blood running through his or her veins. Only individuals with
European blood can obtain the best education and climb the social hierarchy. This Eurocentric theme
is so prominent in Java around this time period that many characters, including Minke, are willing to
sacrifice their tradition in order to be more European. For example, Minke cannot write in his

The Anzac Legacy Of The Australian World War
Last year, on the 25th of April was the centenary of the Gallipoli landing. Which, according to the
Australian Defence force website, was to be for Australians, one of the most significant
commemorations to take place during their lifetime. With the centenary looming in the backs of the
minds of the Australian people, it is unsurprising that great pains have been taken to construct a three
year long celebration that would encompass a number of historical milestones on Australia s
involvement in conflicts , such as both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.
Yet, the amount of emphasis that is placed on the Anzac legend could be argued to be incorrectly
placed and channelled by certain groups for their own gain. This essay will argue that the Anzac
legacy of the Australians being the perfect soldier is highly embellished and are no more remarkable
than any other soldier. Furthermore the importance and Australia s involvement in the First World War
has been grossly inflated. Additionally, this will analyse claims made by historians and other
academics about how the Anzac legend has changed overtime, and Australia s involvement in wars.
In order to understand why the Anzac legend became so prominent, an understanding of Australia s
reasons for entering the First World War must be understood. Firstly, it was the first major war
Australia would participate in as a state in its own right, less than two decades after Australian became
a federation in 1901. According to Stanley,

Persuasive Essay On The Bogeyman
Compare and Contrast on the Boogeyman
Intro The Boogeyman is a horror character that appears in short stories he scares children at a certain
age usually 2 6 years old. This horror character usually only comes for you when you re alone typically
at night when you are sleeping in your room, he hides in the closet. What he does is he is the horror
character that makes young kids do as they are told like for example when your mom says eat your
vegetables and you said no as a kid she would say ¨ok if you don´t eat your vegetables the Boogeyman
will come for you at night.¨So the Boogeyman is there to ensure we follow the rules and bring good
behavior towards children.
Paragraph 1 In the Scientific American story it tells us that the Boogeyman is a teaching tool for
young children and that he is a factor there to punish or steal children when they are not following the
specific rules they have to be following. He is a shapeless factor so that means he could be anywhere at
anytime so typically parents use the closet or say don´t check under the bed .The Boogeyman hides in
the closet and the reason why parents say that the Boogeyman comes out the closet is because
typically at the age of 2 6 kids have a fear towards the dark and that is when the closet also becomes a
factor that parents use to make sure that their son or daughter follow the rules they have to follow or
do what they are told to do.Now in King s short story he used the closet as the place where the

Symbols And Symbols In The Book The Shawl
Shelby McCrory Ms. Corbin English 102 February 4, 2015 The Shawl and Symbols In the book The
Shawl a family of a mother and two children are trying to survive during the Holocaust. It proves that
humans strongest instinct is the will to survive and apparently the shawl is the only way to accomplish
this. Throughout the story survival is linked back to the shawl itself. The main focus of the story is
having the shawl and using it to survive. The shawl is a symbol of many things, but most importantly
it is a symbol of protection, a symbol of comfort, and a symbol of nourishment. Throughout the story
it is obvious that the shawl is thought of as a symbol of protection. She looked into Magda s face
through a gap in the shawl: a squirrel in a nest, safe no one could reach her... (247). From Rosa s
statement it is easily known that the shawl is complete protection to Magda. As long as she is covered
and wrapped in the shawl she thinks she is protected, and it becomes obvious that she is as long as she
remains in it. ... She might drop the shawl, and Magda would fall out and strike her head and die
(247). This symbolizes that the shawl is the only thing protecting her from death itself. If the shawl is

Marketing to Children

Response Paper
Marketing Children
Child obesity is a growing problem in today s society. On average 28% of girls age 6 11 are
overweight. Pediatricians are now seeing more and more children with high levels of cholesterol, high
blood pressure, and adult on set diabetes. In 1997 American children obtained 50% of their calories
from added fat and sugar and only 1% of children s diets resembled the recommended proportions of
the Food Pyramid.
The amount of money that is spent marketing to children is outrageous. Companies purposefully
market to the young children s tastes in a variety of ways through package design, typefaces, pictures,
and content. Key elements for successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marketers understand that no child is too young to be targeted by television; many of these programs
are linked directly to commercial products. For example, Burger King then McDonald s sponsored the
public television show Teletubbies (show for toddlers). McDonald s distributed toys of the four
characters in their happy meals. It is estimated that advertising for children has now reached over $1
billion. The most common advertised foods seen are not surprisingly low in nutritional value; products
such as, presweetened breakfast cereals, candy, fast food, sodas, cookies, and chips. Its safes to say the
money isn t being spent on advertising of fruits, vegetables, bread, or fish.
Another largely upsetting report found that food commercials stimulate antisocial behavior in
children. Commercials aimed to children are overly dependent on socially negative material, violence,
conflict, and/or trickery. Food companies purposefully entice children by placing logos on toys,
games, clothing, and school supplies. They even go as far as to sponsor clubs, produce magazines, buy
time in movies, obtain celebrity endorsers, and add their logo to baby bottles. For example, McDonald
s offers cups, toys, placemats, movie coupons, special toys, and logo labeled items for all occasions.
Some companies now sell counting books to young children that require the purchase and use of the
brand name. Regrettably, they teach children to count

Samson is the Bible s Hercules; since he is known as a great man of superhuman strength. Samson
was the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites. There were three judges who ruled Israel. The
judges were Ibzan, Elon, and Abdon. As the people of Israel began to worship idols again, God sent
forth the Philistines, a strong and aggressive army. They ravaged the land, stole the Israelites food and
weapons, so that they could not fight back. The Israelites prayed and thus he brought about a savior.
That savior was Samson.

Stereotypes In High School
High school is full of a variety of types of people, who can all be labeled into certain groups or
stereotypes. High school can be an amazing time for people, just as easily as it could be a terrible time
for people. It s quite odd how everyone goes to the same school, and mostly attend the same courses,
yet they are significantly different from one another. Every school has the classic jocks, nerds,
partiers/stoners, etc., but it appears our generation has created several new stereotypes. With students
spending approximately 35 hours a week at school, it is easy for one another to label each other, and
determine who they fit in with.
The most common stereotype in Spring Lake is the Preppy Rich Kid. The Preppy part of these kids is
that they love to wear a perfectly matching outfit; including their colorful Polo Shirts/t shirts, colorful
short shorts, matching socks, with a matching pair of boat shoes/skate shoes. The Rich part of these
kids is that they live in a big house on the water, their parents have high paying jobs, and their parents
will buy them whatever they desire. These kids typically drive an expensive foreign car, usually
blaring rap music out of their car s subwoofer everyday to school. Once they have arrived at school,
most of them have a very enjoyable day. For the most part, they have a perfect life, including getting

Muscular Dystrophy Is The Most Common Form Of Diabetes
Abstract
Introduction
1.1 Muscular Dystrophy
The genetic disease known as Muscular Dystrophy first appeared in history in the year 1830. It was
included in a written report by the Scottish Neurologist Sir Charles Bell. The disease soon became
more prominent, where it appeared in several medical journals from the 1850 s and onwards. Several
young boys were described as having a weakness which progressively worsened, along with problems
walking. The disease led to their eventual premature deaths. A French Neurologist known as
Guillaume Duchenne studied 13 boys who all had the most common and severe form of Muscular
Dystrophy, soon to be known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (NIH 2016). Muscular dystrophy
refers to a group of more than 30 genetic diseases including Distal MD, Emery Dreifuss MD,
Facioscapulohumeral MD, Limb girdle MD, Becker MD, Congenital MD, Myotonic MD and
Oculopharyngeal MD. This review however will just focus on Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
1.2 Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common form of MD that usually affects children. It has
accounted for over 50% of all muscular dystrophy cases, occurring at a frequency of 1 in 3,500 new
born males (NCBI 2016). Boys are the main victim of this disease, however symptoms can be shown
and experienced by girls and women who carry the defective DMD gene (NIH 2016). It is a terrible
disease that is progressive and has a rapid onset. The DMD gene is big in size which makes it an easy

Otherwise, we have dogma, doctrines, and creeds that we also believe. (Kane). To someone outside of
the Catholic church, they would not hold the same beliefs to be true nor understand the reasons for
their belief. Nevertheless, these traditions have been passed down for generations and are still upheld
today. As Kane pointed out, Catholics believe that Holy Communion is the body and blood of Christ.
Having very traditional beliefs, the Catholic Church uses numerous different terms and practices that
are not familiar with non Catholics. Inside of the Discourse community, Catholics have set terms that
are used widely to discuss different matters. For instances, the term priest is used to describe what
others would typically call a pastor. In addition to the terms used, there are also rituals that are based
on their traditional beliefs. The most drastic of them would be the Eucharist. This tradition is referred
to by Catholics as Holy Communion and is referred to by protestants as The Lord s Supper. Meg Kane
described the differences by saying, Catholics actually believe that the Eucharist is the body and blood
of Christ. It has much more meaning behind it than other communion services. (Kane). Drastically
differing from other religions, Catholics believe that their priest was granted the ability by God to turn
the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Traditional values and the faith of
Catholics largely affects the Discourse community and

Coral Ocean Trade
Summary:
The international trade in corals today mainly focuses on live corals for the marine reef aquarium
trade. The purpose of this study is to understand the overall trends over time (in this instance, 21 years
between 1990 2010) as coral species enter the trade and become more commercially popular. Another
reason was to assess the impact that increased aquaculture production of corals has on the trade, and
predict how changes in the trade of live corals may impact coral reef ecosystems. Trade increased over
8% per year between 1990 to mid 2000s, and then decreased by 9% each year. The aquarium and trade
for corals is associated with positive and negative impacts to ecosystems and societies. The timing of
the peak and decline varies among

Trapeze Swinger s Song Iron Wine
Trapeze Swinger Iron Wine Trapeze Swinger is close to a ten minute song sung by a group called Iron
Wine, which this song is known for capturing youth love that turns into heartbreak through innocence
of nostalgia as well as extravaganza and some religious meanings throughout the song. As the song
begins the artist addresses a past time of a close relationship (girlfriend) who in this song still has a
huge impact in his life. The childhood memories he still has haunts him in recollection due to his
initial words for each verse, Please, remember me ultimately having emphasis and to indicate the
imagery that this girl was important who is no longer in his life. The artist wants this girl to remember

I also believe that Bon Iver was on drugs, medication, or slightly impaired when writing these lyrics
but in between the lines extremely hurt along with a sense of guilt. Bon Iver says Choler as an
indication of guidelines form his father in how to handle life or chaos situations on how to act.
Difficult times demand difficult measures for example how does one cope with a death of a friend or
loved one. All of these unanswered questions but most of the time individuals seek religion in order to
help with the pain. In most cases religion doesn t do justice so for others decide to pursue things that
are taboo or in this case Bon Iver loved nature. Just as Nostra Aetate explains, what is the purpose of
religion? Its purpose is to have individuals search for meaning and to hold society together. In the
lines of Bon Iver says to a woman he loves and this woman her own beliefs, traditions, and God; Bon
Iver says, It s definitely lava... Why you don t carry other names? he is explaining that it s a bad thing
that God can t be uniquely experienced by different perspectives; that religion forces people to view
God in such a forced, specific way. But Theology things all religions have the same meaning and
purpose to for individuals, Bon Iver is agreeing to the fact religions should have individuals look at
their religion and think it s the best. Individuals who are religious should think and learn about other
religions as well to not be so biased to welcome religions but it is okay to have your own relationship

Spanish American War Benefits
The Spanish American War was the defining moment in modern U.S. history. It began the process by
which the U.S. would establish itself as a world super power . The Spanish American War was known
as the beginning process to the United States establishing itself as a world super power. This would be
the beginning to becoming a strong and powerful Empire. This process to building a powerful Empire
is something that America has built up for hundreds of years. This makes sense because America did
go through a lot before the war even started. All America wanted to do in the first place was build a
canal to connect North and South America for trade. The canal would make Americans life easier for
trading with other countries. Spain did not want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cuba was finally free of Spain s control. With Cuba being free of Spain this is when America gets
their benefits. America basically tells Cuba Since we helped you get free of Spain s control, you will
let us build a canal, and that was only one of the benefits America used to get what they wanted with
Cuba. After the war there was a lot of things that needed to be talked about especially with where
Cuba was with being free and/or how was in control of it. These things were going to have to be
worked out with the governments. Other than that the Spanish American war was more about America
starting to gain control and power of an Empire that is still running today and what Americans hope
will keep running for a long time. If you do not look at the Spanish American war as the being of the
process of America gaining power then you probably think that the process could have already started.
For example like when monopolies were controlling America and when the citizens finally got a say
and decided to take down all of those monopolies. Or, you could possibly think that the process had
not started until World War 1 when America got involved and held there own against Germany and the
other countries involved in World War 1. For someone to think that the process of America becoming
an Empire had not started yet is not true is wrong in my opinion, seeing all that America has already
been through and how well it has been keeping up with the other

Essay The Benefits Genetic Engineering for Medical Purposes
Genetic Engineering has developed by very rapidly over the past twenty years. It is also one of the
most controversial topics to go through the United States. From the research gene therapy to the
cloning of different animals, genetic engineering can save lives while at the same time, endanger them
as well. There are many pros and cons which are being heavily debated by political, scientific, and
many other organizations. Most are centered on the idea of using Stem cells as a way of curing
diseases.
Stem cells are cells that have the capabilities to develop into many different types of cells in the body.

Scientists once believed that human adult stem cells could be used, but that idea was quickly put to
rest when scientists discovered that the cells may be damaged by sunlight or toxins in the air, as well
as the fact that adult stem cells may contain more DNA abnormalities. Stem cell research could one
day lead to the cures of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer s and Parkinson s disease (NIH, FAQ s, 1).
Did you know that with the science of DNA manipulation, animal cadavers can be turned into insulin
for diabetics? Back in the 80 s scientists isolated the human gene for insulin and transferred it into
bacteria. Now bacteria cultures are used to produce large amounts of human insulin. DNA
manipulation is especially important in medicine, where it holds the hope of curing genetic diseases
such as Huntington s, and even some types of cancer. There are several major types of DNA
manipulation enzymes used by living cells. The first type is DNA polymerase, which cells use to
replicate their own DNA. The next type is DNA ligase, which joins 2 pieces of DNA to create a single
piece. The third type is restriction enzymes, which appear to be made only by bacteria. Restriction
enzymes are very important enzymes that are vital to our manipulation of DNA (Rapoza, DNA, 2).
Another way of manipulating DNA is by cloning. Cloning is the production of exact copies of the
original, kind of like a copying machine. With DNA molecules, cloning means putting new DNA into

The Importance Of The Subway System
In New York City, the subway system has played an integral role in taking New Yorkers across the city
in minutes. With high speed metallic trains barreling through tubes and tunnels, approximately 8
million New Yorkers ride the subway everyday and rely on it to get to where they need; whether it be
work, school, or meeting with others. However in recent events the fare to ride the trains or buses have
skyrocketed from the five cents in 1904 to two dollars and seventy five cents in this day and age.
While this of course correlates to inflation, it proves to be yet another annoyance to New Yorkers who
had already paid two dollars and fifty cents before in 2015. While this improves quality of subway
travel, trains, and employee service and numbers; it is also more money out of the pockets of many
already financially unstable New Yorkers.
The improvement of overall subway quality has improved by tenfold in the recent decades. In 1904,
when the subway companies: IRT, IND, and BMT were integrated into New York City, the trains
slowly decayed into hunks of rusted metal and slow moving contraptions of poor travel. Hardly any
trains ran into multiple boroughs, only select few trains travelled across bridges as each company
operated their own trains within their own borough. In order to completely overhaul the subway
system, the companies slowly began increasing metro fare. In 1965, an agreement was reached to
unify all companies and create the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the

Economic Analysis of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away
Anime or animation started in the early 20th century by Japanese filmmakers who experimented with
animation techniques. Hayao Miyazaki, a director, animator, screenwriter, and illustrator of such
animated films is the creator of Spirited Away. Spirited Away is a film about Chihiro, a young girl who
upon moving to a new town becomes lost in the spirit world after her father takes a wrong turn on
their way to their new house. Hayao Miyazaki s Spirited away illustrates not only the struggles
Chihiro has to overcome in order to save her parents who turn into pigs upon eating the food of the
spirit world, but there are also many instants in which the role of the economy have caused an impact
on Chihiro s journey. In particular bourgeoisie, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only shows how little reorganization the proletariat group receives but also that Yubaba does
not care for the safety of her employees. Even so the proletariats at the bathhouse still thrive to
achieve their goals such as Lin who states I ve got to get out of this place. Some day I m getting on
that train (Suzuki, Miyazaki, 2001). This shows that although the proletariats are disadvantaged in
most aspects of life they still manage to dream and look toward the future.
The informal economy is the underground work done to gain more income, but is hidden from official
growth figures, from the public s conscience and are not reported to the government. A number of
characteristics can be linked to this concept two are the higher rate of women in employed in the
informal economy and informal economies have flourished for quite a long period of time. In the
movie Spirited Away the informal economy plays a minor role however it is very distinct. Yubaba
employs Haku to do the dirty work or the underground work in which he is to steal many items worth
either money or that have magic value. One particular task she assigns him is to steal Zeneba s golden
seal. This example shows how Yubaba acquires wealth and magic through the informal economy.

In The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne analyzes Hester, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth. In the story,
Hester is the main character of the story and was called Mistress Prynne (Hawthorne 70).
Dimmesdale, in the story was referred to as Reverend Dimmesdale (Hawthorne 90). Chillingworth

The Siege Of Jerusalem By Ezekiel
Ludicrous. Torturous. Appalling. The unthinkable prophetic acts that God commanded for Ezekiel to
perform throughout his ministry were meant to be sensational scenes that demonstrated what was to
come for the Israelites. Ezekiel, illustrating the siege of Jerusalem was one of the first prophetic acts
God required Ezekiel to complete. God commanded Ezekiel to create a miniature version of an
invading army camped around Jerusalem and then place an iron plate between himself and Jerusalem.
Ezekiel, while lying on the left side of his body for three hundred ninety days, represented the number
of years that Israel was punished, and then lying on his right side for forty days, represented the
number of years that Judah was punished. Ezekiel had to portion out water and grain cake, which he
was supposed to cook on human manure to demonstrate the unclean bread that Israel would soon eat,
but Ezekiel refused as cooking on human manure disobeyed God s dietary laws. Therefore, God
compromised with Ezekiel and allowed him to prepare the food on animal manure instead. Ezekiel,
portraying the siege of Jerusalem was just the beginning of what God required Ezekiel to do in order
to illustrate the suffering that the Israelites were about to experience due to their unfaithfulness. Not
only did God use Ezekiel to perform extraordinary prophetic acts in order to get His message across to
the Israelites, but God also allowed for Ezekiel to have visions that reached beyond history and

Forbidden Love in The Great Gatsby
Many people in the 1920s lived very extravagant lives. The time of the Jazz Age or the Roaring 20s
where girls were flappers and the men were bootleggers. People loved to have fun and be carefree.
However, alcohol dependence was becoming a problem and many started realizing that. Taking action
to stop this was the hard part. Alcohol was corrupting the 1920s even though some did not recognize
it. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald displays the corruption during the 1902s through his
main character, Jay Gatsby, and his illustration of prohibition. Prohibition was a long period of time in
U.S. history that lasted nearly fourteen years. The manufacturing, transportation, and sale of liquor

The Act also said that owning anything designed to manufacture alcohol was completely illegal. It set
specific fines and jail sentences for violating Prohibition (Rosenberg). Without the Volstead Act the
18th Amendment would not have been set into place. The whole idea of both the Volstead Act and the
18th Amendment was to only keep people and the society safe. Unfortunately, however, there were
loopholes for people to legally drink during Prohibition. The 18th Amendment technically said
nothing about actually drinking the liquor. Many people used this to get out of trouble when being
accused of breaking the 18th Amendment. Prohibition went into effect a full year after the 18th
Amendment was ratified. This gave people a whole year to buy cases of then legal alcohol and stored
them in places to use for personal reasons. This was actually a very smart thing to do. The Volstead
Act also stated alcohol consumption was allowed if you had it prescribed to you by a doctor. A large
number of new prescriptions were written for alcohol. The ways that people snuck around these laws
just shows how much they really depended on alcohol back then (Rosenberg). For those people who
did not buy cases of alcohol or knew a good doctor there were illegal ways to drink during
Prohibition. New breeds of gangsters came about during this period. These people realized

reason why I decided to study this group of students and use them as my ethnography topic was
because I am part of the group and I can relate with what they are going through for the mere fact of
being a Muslim. This subculture is something I am very passionate about, because it gives me a sense

Evaluating The Maximum Tolerated Dose
INTRODUCTION Oncology patients are often severely ill and often resort to aggressive therapies
with the potential of serious toxicity. The primary objective for dose escalation in phase I trials is to
avoid exposing too many patients to subtherapeutic doses while preserving safety and maintaining
rapid accrual through a reliable practical dose finding design [1]. A phase I cancer trial aims to
determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), defined as the dose for which the probability of
toxicity is closest to a prespecified target toxicity rate p_T (the toxicity probability of the true MTD).
Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) is a side effect of treatments that are serious enough to prevent an
increase in dose. In other words, MTD is the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior studies have reviewed a vast literatures on dose escalation methods for Phase I trials in cancer,
yet very few of them have been used in practice [3]. However, few statistical studies have matched
sample sizes across the designs [4]. The purpose of this proposal is to evaluate three dose escalation
designs which are optimal for determining the closest dose to the actual MTD while exposing the least
amount of patients to either ineffective with roughly match sample sizes and similar target toxicity
probabilities p_T. This proposal includes three specific aims and two hypothesis. Specific Aim 1:
Introduce a new dose finding design hybrid (3+1) that can be easily understood and implemented by
non statisticians. By combining the rule based embedded in the 3+3 method with the model based
embedded in mTPI. Hypothesis: The operating characteristics of the proposed design hybrid (3+1) is
better than those of two other designs, the 3+3, and mTPI. Specific Aim 2: Conduct a comprehensive
simulation experiment to detect the true MTD for different toxicity scenarios. Specific Aim 3:
Evaluate these three designs by comparing the MTD on a practical application Samarium in Pediatric
Osteosarcoma (SPO) trial. SIGNIFICANCE AND RELEVANCE TO PUBLIC HEALTH Dose finding

The bargaining power of buyers is relatively low because the market share of Intel is significantly
higher than its competitors. The sales of the chipsets of Intel account for a lower portion of the seller s
annual revenues because the revenue of Intel stream PC Makers(HP, Dell etc) plus emerging market.
So the bargaining power of buyers is low but may increase.
The threat of substitute products or services is low because Intel hold more than 80% market share in
chipsets industry. The real competitor is AMD. Customers may find that it is not easy to choose the
product of AMD.
To conclude the industry analysis, the chipsets industry is oligopoly and it is hardly possible for other

Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl
I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative
consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have can
create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was widely acted
upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead to, creating
The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust
Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we
grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was
covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming
during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and
more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused
people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce
better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur
from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early
pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with
their tough roots, (3). So when farmers would plow the land, they were disturbing what was keeping

Research On Hydration Stations On College Campuses
For my final progress report, I took a different angle for doing research about hydration stations on

this email I would take advantage of it to see what college or universities took part in this. In the body
of my email that I sent was the following: I am researching hydration stations used on college

They initially trialed an Elkay and an Oasis retrofit on two existing water fountains. They ve been
much happier with the Elkay model and all subsequent installs have been Elkays. For Allegheny
College campus, they have to replace the filters once maybe twice a year. Our recent order had the
retrofits with filters (for already installed compatible fountains) at $789 and a new fountain with the
filtered bottle filler at $828 (marked down from $1176 due to a summer sale).
The larger story is that when they started down this path when students consistently asked the college
to implement a bottled water ban. However, when they looked at how much bottled water they sell on

students go to Wal mart and buy bottled water by the case. So, many from the sustainable office has

Blueberry and Cranberry farming have been around forever. New Jersey is a great place for them to
grow because of the necessities they need to grow. New Jersey has many bogs which is where
cranberries are grown. Also the acidic soil, abundant soil moisture, and great drainage so the

making was important in the 1700s and 1800s. Iron was used to create weapons and kitchen utilities
which were very important in that time. However when coal was discovered in Pennsylvania the iron

Demand Curve And The Supply Curve
In some cities around the world (e.g. Berlin, New York, and Stockholm) rent control is used to ensure
housing is affordable. Using the Market model, conduct an economic analysis of rent control. Use the
analysis as a basis for providing recommendations regarding its introduction in London.
Rent control, like all other government mandated price controls is a law placing a maximum price, or
a rent ceiling, on what landlords may charge tenants. If it is to have any effect, the rent level must be
set at a rate below that which would otherwise have prevailed (Walter Block).
The Market Model (figure 1) shows that there is a gap between supply and demand. This is
demonstrated by two curves which are the demand curve and the supply curve. Consumers of a
product are encouraged to increase purchasing when the government decreases prices and as price
rises to decrease purchasing, whereas, suppliers are encouraged to increase production when prices are
high and decrease production when prices fall. The market model shows that at one point the demand
curve and the supply curve intersect. This is called the equilibrium price where production is equal to
demand thus there is no surplus and no shortages. Figure 1 can also describe a Pareto efficient
economy. This is where all possible Pareto improvements have been made: where, therefore, it is
impossible to make anyone better off without making someone else worse off (Sloman, Wride and
Garratt, 2012, p 318).

Honda began its international sales in 1959. After realizing the potential of the international market
with a keen interest in the American market. The company officials sought to establish Honda
presence in the US market but due to poor reception from American dealerships, negative image about
the Japanese culture among Americans and a widely held belief that American goods were superior to
Japanese, the company struggled in its first years. This was compounded by the fact that it had to
establish its own distribution channel, however, the turning point for Honda s fortunes in America
changed for the better due to the success of its founder in the racing circuit and after he won the race
of isle of man in the early 60 s. An extensive advertising campaign and winning manufacturer s award
in 1962. Soon AHMC was dominating the American market with a 62% market share. In the late 50 s
and early 60 s Honda motor company ltd established international subsidiaries in Europe which
included sales and manufacturing subsidiaries based in Germany and Belgium respectively. The firm
also ventured in the production of motor vehicles after 1964 with an emphasis on sporty vehicles and
light weight trucks, but its real production of motor vehicles did not start until the manufacture of the
Honda civic in 1972. Production rose to hit 1,000,000 in sales within four years, which was followed
up by the Honda accord which was equally successful. Within 25 years

Case Questions Olympus
1. Why is the Olympus case considered to be as much about corporate governance as it is about
accounting fraud?
This particular case is considered to be as much about corporate governance as it is about accounting
fraud because it comprised a corrupt system that existed in the company and involved senior
management (including the board of directors) for many years. The company s board of directors
prioritized its own interests over those of other stakeholder groups, including Olympus own
stockholders, thus evidencing a problem of unethical behavior and a fundamental lack of good
corporate governance.
2. What role did the media play in the uncovering of this fraud?
The media had an important role in uncovering the fraud because it was the media that put pressure on
Olympus to acknowledge there was a problem and take action to resolve it. Among other things, the
media pressured the head of the board of directors to resign his position. The media also pressured the
authorities, e.g. the FBI, to become involved and investigate the case, ultimately making it possible for
Michael Woodford to demonstrate that he was right to suspect that something wrong was going on at
the company.
3. How easy or difficult was it for Michael Woodford to decide to be a whistleblower and what were
the consequences to him personally?

Behavior Patterns Of Wolf Behavior
By: Lara Drum The behavior of wolves can vary greatly, different seasons can mean different
behavior patterns. When the wolf of one pack enters the territory of another wolf pack the behaviors
can be very aggressive. Wolves live in family units called packs, they are very social animals and
usually do not do well individually. The pack is usually made up of the alpha or the leader of the pack.
The alpha is usually both a male and female in the group that are a breeding pair. The pack is usually
comprised of the offspring of the alphas pair from the several years of pups. The leaders of the pack
are the bosses and determine when the pack will hunt, sleep, travel, or even play. The alphas almost
always east first. (Wolf Ecology and Behavior, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolves are carnivores, meaning they eat only meat. Wolves prey on ungulates, these are large hoofed
animals such as deer and moose. This is their favorite meals, but they have been known to hunt and
eat beaver, rabbits, and small mammals. Wolves that do not live in Minnesota like to eat caribou, elk,
mountain goats, big horn sheep, and even buffalo. The fact that wolves eat these animals and helps to
control the population of these prey animals. This helps the prey populations to not get disease and
spread them. Wolves hunt in the pack, this means they all work together to take down an animal or
two. They often segregate the chosen prey and will circle around it. The alphas almost always eat first,
then usually the pups and other members of the pack. Wolves need to eat around 3 7 pounds of meat a
day, this equals about 15 20 adult deer a year. But wolves do not eat every day they may go many days
without eating and then eat large amounts to sustain them to the next meal. (Hunting and feeding

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gags
INTRODUCTION: Bulky linear polysaccharide assembled by repeating disaccharide units are termed
as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The disaccharide components that are the source of all GAGs (except
keratin) are a blend of an uronic acid (either glucuronic acid or iduronic acid) and an amino sugar
(either N acetyl D glucomine or N acetyl D galactosamine). GAGs can be concisely categorized as:
Hyaluronic acid, Chondroitin sulfate, Dermatan sulfate, Heparin sulfate, Heparin and Keratin sulfate.
Heparin is an extremely sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAGs) found in the mast cells of a majority of
mammals, the structure of which is demonstrated in fig. 1. The endogenous GAGs are very much
acidic and actively stimulated. Heparin is also the highly sulfated ... Show more content on

Heparin is astonishing because of its variability. Chemically, it is an assemblage of fragments each one
of which have contrasting molecular weights and the respective modes of action. The most imperative
action of heparin is its interference in the coagula¬tion cascade. This polysaccharide comprises chains
containing one to four uronic acid fragments and d glucosamine (Casu, 1989). The molecular weight
of heparin may range from 3,000 Da to 30,000 Da, with an average value of 15,000 Da (Hirsh, 1991).
Among these numbers, nearly one third is characterized by a unique pentasaccharide, which is
necessitous for binding to antithrombin, thus intensifying the thrombin and activated factor X
inhibition (Lam et al., 1976). A superfluous anticoagulant action of heparin originates due to heparin
cofactor II activation, which is less potent and usually requires higher systemic con¬centrations of
heparin. The residue of the heparin molecule does not retain any anticoagulant action. The chief
anticoagulant activity is dependent on the number of oligosaccharide (pentasaccharide) fragments that
openly alter the molecular weight of the effectual agent. Commonly, heparin acts on distinct levels of
the coagulation cascade. Its actions can be illustrated to be as anti coagulative, anti thrombotic,

Without a proper development plan put in place instructional designers can become easily frustrated and expending additional hours to do research to put the course in place. A part of their employment obligation is following the safety rules and managers do enforce this. Their house in Vietnam was very close to mine, and when my family moved to New Zealand, we rent an apartment near theirs. I met Sumi when I was in secondary school. She is the only child in the family so she gets the undivided love and attention of her parents. Her parents have only her to spend the money on and not have to share it among other siblings. So, when she was a child, she got more toys than normal, and she used to share toys with me. She is the one who taught me play chess and always gives me a shoulder to cry on when I need emotional support. Her father is a lawyer while his wife is a school teacher. Both of them are very kind and highly educated. I think they are a very happy couple. I have experienced some events where the resolved their arguments without yelling and without trying to win the argument. They set their egos aside. They often spend time together by travelling to different regions of Vietnam. While they were travelling, Sumi stayed with my family. This Earth of Mankind, the first in a collection of four novels, gives the readers a glimpse into the colonial period of the Dutch Indies. Minke, a young Native man, narrates the story and shares his thoughts throughout the novel. The basic premise of the story revolves around Minke experiencing many social injustices, meeting remarkable characters, and developing his own opinion on the world around him. Tragedy strikes Minke when his wife, Annelies, is forcibly taken away shortly after their marriage. The plot, however, is not the highlight of the novel. The star of the story is the underlying message. From the very front cover of the novel is a clue into what it is about. Pramoedya littered the story with themes and ideas that tackle the issue of social discrimination and injustice. One of the more prevalent themes throughout the novel is race. In This Earth of Mankind, there is a huge disparity among Pure Europeans, Natives, and Indos a mixture of European and Native. The power of an individual is dictated by the amount of European blood running through his or her veins. Only individuals with European blood can obtain the best education and climb the social hierarchy. Which, according to the Australian Defence force website, was to be for Australians, one of the most significant commemorations to take place during their lifetime. With the centenary looming in the backs of the minds of the Australian people, it is unsurprising that great pains have been taken to construct a three year long celebration that would encompass a number of historical milestones on Australia s involvement in conflicts , such as both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam. Yet, the amount of emphasis that is placed on the Anzac legend could be argued to be incorrectly placed and channelled by certain groups for their own gain. This essay will argue that the Anzac legacy of the Australians being the perfect soldier is highly embellished and are no more remarkable than any other soldier. Furthermore the importance and Australia s involvement in the First World War has been grossly inflated. Additionally, this will analyse claims made by historians and other academics about how the Anzac legend has changed overtime, and Australia s involvement in wars. In order to understand why the Anzac legend became so prominent, an understanding of Australia s reasons for entering the First World War must be understood. Firstly, it was the first major war Australia would participate in as a state in its own right, less than two decades after Australian became a federation in 1901. According to Stanley, ... With high speed metallic trains barreling through tubes and tunnels, approximately 8 million New Yorkers ride the subway everyday and rely on it to get to where they need; whether it be work, school, or meeting with others. However in recent events the fare to ride the trains or buses have skyrocketed from the five cents in 1904 to two dollars and seventy five cents in this day and age. While this of course correlates to inflation, it proves to be yet another annoyance to New Yorkers who had already paid two dollars and fifty cents before in 2015. While this improves quality of subway travel, trains, and employee service and numbers; it is also more money out of the pockets of many already financially unstable New Yorkers. The improvement of overall subway quality has improved by tenfold in the recent decades. In 1904, when the subway companies: IRT, IND, and BMT were integrated into New York City, the trains slowly decayed into hunks of rusted metal and slow moving contraptions of poor travel. Hardly any trains ran into multiple boroughs, only select few trains travelled across bridges as each company operated their own trains within their own borough. Hayao Miyazaki, a director, animator, screenwriter, and illustrator of such animated films is the creator of Spirited Away. Spirited Away is a film about Chihiro, a young girl who upon moving to a new town becomes lost in the spirit world after her father takes a wrong turn on their way to their new house. Hayao Miyazaki s Spirited away illustrates not only the struggles Chihiro has to overcome in order to save her parents who turn into pigs upon eating the food of the spirit world, but there are also many instants in which the role of the economy have caused an impact on Chihiro s journey. Even so the proletariats at the bathhouse still thrive to achieve their goals such as Lin who states I ve got to get out of this place. Some day I m getting on that train (Suzuki, Miyazaki, 2001). This shows that although the proletariats are disadvantaged in most aspects of life they still manage to dream and look toward the future. The informal economy is the underground work done to gain more income, but is hidden from official growth figures, from the public s conscience and are not reported to the government. A number of characteristics can be linked to this concept two are the higher rate of women in employed in the informal economy and informal economies have flourished for quite a long period of time. In the movie Spirited Away the informal economy plays a minor role however it is very distinct. Yubaba employs Haku to do the dirty work or the underground work in which he is to steal many items worth either money or that have magic value. • 31. The Siege Of Jerusalem By Ezekiel Ludicrous. Torturous. Appalling. The unthinkable prophetic acts that God commanded for Ezekiel to perform throughout his ministry were meant to be sensational scenes that demonstrated what was to come for the Israelites. Ezekiel, illustrating the siege of Jerusalem was one of the first prophetic acts God required Ezekiel to complete. God commanded Ezekiel to create a miniature version of an invading army camped around Jerusalem and then place an iron plate between himself and Jerusalem. Ezekiel, while lying on the left side of his body for three hundred ninety days, represented the number of years that Israel was punished, and then lying on his right side for forty days, represented the number of years that Judah was punished. Ezekiel had to portion out water and grain cake, which he was supposed to cook on human manure to demonstrate the unclean bread that Israel would soon eat, but Ezekiel refused as cooking on human manure disobeyed God s dietary laws. Therefore, God compromised with Ezekiel and allowed him to prepare the food on animal manure instead. Ezekiel, portraying the siege of Jerusalem was just the beginning of what God required Ezekiel to do in order to illustrate the suffering that the Israelites were about to experience due to their unfaithfulness. Not only did God use Ezekiel to perform extraordinary prophetic acts in order to get His message across to the Israelites, but God also allowed for Ezekiel to have visions that reached beyond history and ... People loved to have fun and be carefree. However, alcohol dependence was becoming a problem and many started realizing that. Taking action to stop this was the hard part. Alcohol was corrupting the 1920s even though some did not recognize it. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald displays the corruption during the 1902s through his main character, Jay Gatsby, and his illustration of prohibition. The whole idea of both the Volstead Act and the 18th Amendment was to only keep people and the society safe. Unfortunately, however, there were loopholes for people to legally drink during Prohibition. The 18th Amendment technically said nothing about actually drinking the liquor. Many people used this to get out of trouble when being accused of breaking the 18th Amendment. Prohibition went into effect a full year after the 18th Amendment was ratified. This gave people a whole year to buy cases of then legal alcohol and stored them in places to use for personal reasons. This was actually a very smart thing to do. The Volstead Act also stated alcohol consumption was allowed if you had it prescribed to you by a doctor. A large number of new prescriptions were written for alcohol. The ways that people snuck around these laws just shows how much they really depended on alcohol back then (Rosenberg). The primary objective for dose escalation in phase I trials is to avoid exposing too many patients to subtherapeutic doses while preserving safety and maintaining rapid accrual through a reliable practical dose finding design [1]. A phase I cancer trial aims to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), defined as the dose for which the probability of toxicity is closest to a prespecified target toxicity rate p_T (the toxicity probability of the true MTD). Dose limiting toxicity (DLT) is a side effect of treatments that are serious enough to prevent an increase in dose. In other words, MTD is the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proposal includes three specific aims and two hypothesis. Specific Aim 1: Introduce a new dose finding design hybrid (3+1) that can be easily understood and implemented by non statisticians. By combining the rule based embedded in the 3+3 method with the model based embedded in mTPI. Hypothesis: The operating characteristics of the proposed design hybrid (3+1) is better than those of two other designs, the 3+3, and mTPI. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). • 40. Demand Curve And The Supply Curve In some cities around the world (e.g. Berlin, New York, and Stockholm) rent control is used to ensure housing is affordable. Using the Market model, conduct an economic analysis of rent control. Use the analysis as a basis for providing recommendations regarding its introduction in London. Rent control, like all other government mandated price controls is a law placing a maximum price, or a rent ceiling, on what landlords may charge tenants. If it is to have any effect, the rent level must be set at a rate below that which would otherwise have prevailed (Walter Block). The Market Model (figure 1) shows that there is a gap between supply and demand. This is demonstrated by two curves which are the demand curve and the supply curve. Consumers of a product are encouraged to increase purchasing when the government decreases prices and as price rises to decrease purchasing, whereas, suppliers are encouraged to increase production when prices are high and decrease production when prices fall. The market model shows that at one point the demand curve and the supply curve intersect. This is called the equilibrium price where production is equal to demand thus there is no surplus and no shortages. Figure 1 can also describe a Pareto efficient economy. This is where all possible Pareto improvements have been made: where, therefore, it is impossible to make anyone better off without making someone else worse off (Sloman, Wride and Garratt, 2012, p 318). Why is the Olympus case considered to be as much about corporate governance as it is about accounting fraud? This particular case is considered to be as much about corporate governance as it is about accounting fraud because it comprised a corrupt system that existed in the company and involved senior management (including the board of directors) for many years. The company s board of directors prioritized its own interests over those of other stakeholder groups, including Olympus own stockholders, thus evidencing a problem of unethical behavior and a fundamental lack of good corporate governance. 2. The media had an important role in uncovering the fraud because it was the media that put pressure on Olympus to acknowledge there was a problem and take action to resolve it. Among other things, the media pressured the head of the board of directors to resign his position. Among these numbers, nearly one third is characterized by a unique pentasaccharide, which is necessitous for binding to antithrombin, thus intensifying the thrombin and activated factor X inhibition (Lam et al., 1976). A superfluous anticoagulant action of heparin originates due to heparin cofactor II activation, which is less potent and usually requires higher systemic con¬centrations of heparin. The residue of the heparin molecule does not retain any anticoagulant action. The chief anticoagulant activity is dependent on the number of oligosaccharide (pentasaccharide) fragments that openly alter the molecular weight of the effectual agent. Commonly, heparin acts on distinct levels of the coagulation cascade. Its actions can be illustrated to be as anti coagulative, anti thrombotic, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
