The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Advantages And Disadvantages Of
Emergency Management
The roles of information systems in emergency response system and how the individual would use it.
In emergency response management the basic network involves receiving information and then the
mobilization of the necessary emergency services and first responders to the disaster area. This is
should include a first wave of core emergency services, such as firefighters, police and ambulance
crews, but the size of the emergency determines the amount of resources allocated to any disaster. In
receiving information there needs to be a way to provide and obtain accurate and timely information
about the event and keep communication open and flowing with all the responders. It should have a
way for key people to communicate and keep everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would greatly reduce any information overload that would hinder decision making. In the span of
not having enough information, some decision makers will wait on making a decision, but this could
be just as bad as making a wrong decision.[Carver] Other key decision makers will fall back on
routines which might not be relevant in the situation. The technology in this situation needs to be able
to take the amount of information gathered and then start the allocation of resources to the area so that
information does start coming in, they can immediately start implementing the response plans. There
is a need for both discipline, which would include structure, doctrine, and processes, and agility which
could be defined by creativity, improvisation, adaptability in responding to a disaster.[Walker] There is
also the need to onboard and build an effective leadership team quickly to coordinate and manage
efforts as they grow beyond first responders. The leader and team must formulate and implement a
disciplined, iterative set of response plans, allowing initial coordinated responses that are vaguely
right, adapting to new information and changes in circumstances as they arise. There needs to be a
broad system that will allow people who have never worked together before the ability to understand
the objectives from the information provided and instantly update on any

Change In High School
How have I changed in high school? Well for starters my body is different than it was last year. My
legs are longer, not to brag but they are also stronger. I can t really say some stuff in the essay so I ll
go with my upper body, its bigger it has hair and it s stronger. My arms are the same as my legs they
are also strong and longer. My face grows pimples and well that is all my face does, but that is just for

bravery that allowed me to join football ohh and my coaches. Now instead of saying yes I say yes

The Impact Of Iso 14001 On Asian Firms
THE IMPACT OF ISO 14001 ON ASIAN FIRMS
1, Challenging World of Business in Asia
Firms in developed countries have been faced with increasing amounts of pressure to manage and
evaluate the impact of their activities on environment as the impacts went well beyond local and
regional levels since around the 1970s. Following the developed countries, the same concern has
become increasingly obvious in Asia as most of Asian industries have been developed through the
export driven style economy and this has made them to do their economic activities in conformity
with international standards. In order to reach better profitability and international competitiveness,
firms in Asia have been facing the challenges of operating their business without damaging the
environment and their corporate finances.
The Asian continent enjoys a very rich mixture of complex cultures and this complexity is reflected in
their economic, political, legal and business systems. Most Southeast Asian countries developed
through primarily agricultural economies where industrial production has a limited influence until
about 30 years ago (Oosterveer, Kamolsiripichaiporn and Rasiah 2006, p. 217). As industrial
production increased rapidly over the last decades, the number of NIEs, newly industrialised
economies, in the region has expanded to include countries such as Malaysia, Thai and Indonesia. This
means that these countries have joined the more developed fist members of NIEs, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Taiwan

The Telecommunications Act Of 1996
President Bill Clinton created the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to promote fair competition in the
United States telecommunications market. President Clinton s goal was to establish an open market so
that any business can compete in the telecommunications field. Since the creation of the
Telecommunications Act, there has been a bevy of radio and television mergers. One can safely say
that with all the recent mergers, some companies have become monopolies in their respective fields.
The Telecommunications Act primary focus is to help businesses compete against other businesses so
that the consumer can reap the benefits of lower prices for services, a wider selection of services from
different companies, more jobs, and a better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Act will prevent a single broadcast group owner from dominating the national media market (The
American Presidency Project, 2016). The problem with this statement is that in today s society this is
not true. Currently, 90 percent of the media is owned by just six companies: Viacom, News
Corporation, CBS, Comcast, Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape
global political views and cover Presidential elections in America. AT T whom which currently owns
Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016). This purchase is still pending
approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Justice
(James, 2017). AT T would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT,
TBS, Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT T would sell cable service and own cable content.
The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United
States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly
that AT T had on phone service (New America, 2010).
The Telecommunications Act of 1996 creates one huge problem? The Telecommunications Act of
1996 doesn t allow fair competition; it enables large Media companies to become conglomerates.

Essay on Why Hybrid Cars Should Not Be Purchased
As the gas price is rising up to 140 cents per litre in Canada, many people switch their vehicle to
gasoline electric hybrid car to gain savings from the better fuel efficiency. Many potential consumers
for hybrid vehicle and hybrid vehicle owners think that the hybrid system is worth the extra penny due
to better fuel economy. However, the realistic is that it has higher maintenance despite of its
outstanding fuel economy figures. In fact, the hybrids cause more environmental damage than
conventional petro powered vehicles and there are better alternatives. Therefore, hybrids should not be
on consumers shopping list due to a numerous negative facts that consumers are unaware of.
Many Automobile manufactures want consumers to believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result, consumer is forced to pay for the battery pack which costs around $4,000 from their
pocket, not manufactures . When the battery pack is replaced, despite of good fuel economy, it costs
more to own hybrid than conventional vehicle.
Many people buy hybrid cars because they have been told that hybrids are much more eco friendly
than any other vehicles out on the market and they feel proud for supporting the Mother Nature.
Surprisingly, it is a fact that a recent report announced that the Toyota Prius has a higher life time
energy cost than Hummer H1 SUV (kentlaw.edu). It also states, There are, however, environmental
costs to mining and smelting (in Canada) 1,000 tons a year of zinc for the battery powered second
motor, and the shipping of the zinc 10,000 miles trailing a cloud of carbon to Wales for refining and
then to China for turning it into the component that goes to a battery factory in Japan (kentlaw.edu). In
other words, the hybrids emit less carbon dioxide and other gases but it releases far more energies and
toxic gases into atmosphere at production and disposal stage.
In addition, consumer must be aware that there are better alternatives to hybrids on market. Thanks to
advancing technology, many petro powered and diesel powered vehicle get similar EPA fuel economy
on highway. From German automotive manufacture, they have developed Clean Diesel such as Blue
Tec from Mercedes Benz and TDI from Volkswagen which

Iconic Photo In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War in 1966, women and children flee villages being bombarded by the Viet Cong
in hopes that they could survive. The photograph presented depicts women and children crouching
down in a muddy canal as they take cover from an intense Viet Cong fire at Bao Trai, about twenty
miles west of Saigon, Vietnam. This represents an iconic photo because it elicits emotion from the
expressions and intensity of the subject, the photo cannot be repeated because of its candid nature and
its vision of a moment in time, and its historical and social values to those effected by the Vietnam
War. An iconic photo is a photograph that has a moral or thematic element which is important to its
historical context and meaning. First of all, this photo is iconic because it elicits many emotions within
the congregation. These mental states present themselves in the faces of the women and children in the
canal, one of which is a young girl with the look of fear on her face. Fear is the most focused element
of the Vietnam War because it illustrates the entirety of the war. Her face captures the angst ... Show

image is a few generations old creating an authentic iconic photo. The black and white color

time period of 1966 in which the photograph was shot. The history of this image was during the
Vietnam war in which was a catastrophic memorable event that will never be forgotten. The picture
demonstrates the antagonistic impacts that families experienced. The photographer illustrates these
pessimistic effects through the attire, ailment, emotion, and salutariness. Social value plays a role

Labor Day Essay
Labor Day is a dedication to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It
constitutes a yearly national acknowledgment to the contributions that workers have made to the
strength, prosperity and well being of our country. It has evolved from a purely labor union
celebration into a general last fling of summer festival. The origin and deeper meaning of the day has
been forgotten, or never actually known to many.
The beginnings of the American Labor Movement started with the Industrial Revolution. Once factory
systems began to grow, a demand for workers increased. They hired large amounts of young women
and children who were expected to do the same work as men for less wages. New immigrants were
also employed and called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was founded in 1869 by garment workers in Philadelphia who believed that one union of skilled and
unskilled workers should exist. The union was originally a secret, but later was open to all workers,
including blacks, women and farmers. Five hundred thousand workers joined in a year. Their goals
were an eight hour work day, a minimum wage, arbitration rather than strikes, health and safety laws,
equal pay for equal work, no child labor under the age of fourteen, and government ownership of
railroads, telegraphs and telephones. However, the Knights of Labor was a relatively weak
organization, and eventually fell apart.
In 1886, the American Federation of Labor (AF of L) was formed and replaced the Knights of Labor.
Its leader was former cigar union official Samuel Gompers who only wanted to focus on skilled
workers. The AF of L was a conglomeration of twenty five unions that included three hundred
thousand workers working for increasing wages, reducing hours, and improving working conditions.
Gompers believed that everyone should receive equal pay for equal work, and that everyone s rights
should be protected. He also thought the unions should be primarily concerned with the day to day
welfare of the members and should not become involved with politics. He also thought that socialism
would not succeed in the United States. quot;Bread and butter quot; unionism was the

Comparing the first and second experiments, we see that if [I ] is tripled, the rate triples. Therefore the

Comparing the first and third experiments, we see that if [S2O8 2] is tripled, the rate also triples.
Therefore the reaction is also first order in [I ].
The rate law is therefore rate = k[I ][S2O8 2], overall order is second order. (b) Calculate the rate

into town. The food my grandmother cooks represents a part of my culture because it represents the
time spent with my grandparents and who they are. And being with my grandparents has definitely
influenced who I am. Another part of my culture can be shown through the foods my dad makes. My
dad also really likes to cook, especially grill. He cooks great steaks, makes drunk chicken, and killer
burgers. My dad also likes to work with seafood, he always cooks something good for my aunts when
they come into town. Louisiana has the best seafood, hands down. Just take my word for it. So my
aunts that live in Texas don t get to eat good seafood except for when they visit. My dad likes to make
something yummy for them that they don t normally get to eat. He makes grilled and fried fish and
shrimp fettuccine, which is cheesy noodles and shrimp, it s wonderful. Every Sunday night we eat
dinner with my grandparents; because my mawmaw and pawpaw cook breakfast on Sunday mornings,
we usually cook dinner. And by we, I mean my dad. Crawfish is very popular down here and rightfully
so. Most people that live in Louisiana eat crawfish annually. This food is a part of Louisiana culture

Treblinka Uprising
Although many resisters knew they were not going to survive, it didn t matter, they chose to die
fighting. Jews were gassed in May 1943, after they were deported to Treblinka. Around 1,000 jews
were left in the camp. They knew that they were going to die but they decided to revolt. On August 2,
armed with weapons that were stolen from the arms wearhouse, they set fire to part of the camp and
broke through the barbed wired fences. Around 300 prisoners managed to escape. On October 14,
prisoners killed 11 guards and set the whole camp on fire. Around 300 prisoners escaped, but lots were
killed during the manhunt. Only 50 Jews survived at the end of the war. At Auschwitz prisoners of the
Sonderkommando the special squad whose job it was to burn the bodies of the murdered victims,

Gps, Gps And Remote Sensing Technologies
4.0 Spatial Technologies
The GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing technologies have evolved over the last two decades, as the three
most important spatial database technologies for the developmental planning and decision support.
Today, these spatial technologies play a revolutionary role in disaster monitoring, assessment and
management. Remote sensing is used for real time and accurate data capture. GIS is used as the most
effective and efficient tool for storing, integrating, manipulating and presenting spatial and non spatial
information. GPS is used for obtaining precise coordinates of important geographical features,
emergency mapping and establishing connectivity in the neighborhood.
4.1 Geographic Information System (GIS)
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a spatial information system for creating, organizing,
integrating, querying, analyzing and displaying spatial data pertaining to real world. The integration of
spatial data and attribute data and data from various sources is one of the strongest features of GIS.
The spatial data in the form of maps, satellite images, aerial photographs, GPS observations and
adhered to a common spatial framework are integrated in GIS environment for what if analysis and
spatial decision support.
Different real world spatial features are represented as point, line and polygon data types in GIS and
associated attribute data categorized as nominal, ordinal, interval and ration type. Nominal data are

Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois
Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and perceived
they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather than their false
persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the
situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be found
countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche
can been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get
worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty ,
and again in What you are talking about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal
her fraud performance upon encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as
a traditional, accepted woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare
occasions. Yet when the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can
actually be classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the
performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The proceeding
evidence is a very hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche refers to just desire as merely a

Garner Down Syndrome
Kawanda Garner Down syndrome
Down syndrome is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are small
packages of genes in the body that determine how a baby s body forms during pregnancy and how the
baby s body functions as it grows in the womb and after birth. (CDC, 2014) John Langon Down first
described Down s syndrome or Trisomy 21 in 1866. Trisomy 21 is caused by a combination of birth
defects when there is a nondisjunction or an error in cell division during meiosis, resulting in a
trisomy of chromosome 21. (Porth, 2011, p. 119) While the cause in unknown, evidence from
cytogenetic and epidemiologic studies supports the concept of multiple causality. (Perry, 2010, p.

(Chang Kelly, 2007) According to the article published by Salimbene, (2000), children are highly
valued and welcomed in most Bosnian families. Culturally, Bosnian s hold Physician s to a higher
standard than nurses. They may request to hear a diagnoses or treatment options from the physician
rather than a nurse. Teaching may become difficult if a relationship is not formed. The nurse should
introduce themselves and state that the doctor has asked him/her to perform which ever test or
procedure it is that is needed. The purpose of the upcoming testing should be explained thoroughly
without going into the specific details about the procedure. (Salimbene, 2000) Bosnians prefer herbal
or spiritual approaches to health care over western health care. Language barriers may become an
issue as well so an interpreter should be utilized as needed to ensure information is passed along
appropriately. It is critical to assess each patient individually and not make cultural assumptions about
a patient s beliefs or health practices. (Chang Kelly, 2007). Many factors affect this process of parental
adaptation, for example, the nature and severity of the child s conditions, preexisting family
functioning level, cultural background, income level, the availability of social support, and the attitude
of healthcare providers, especially at the time of diagnosis. (Choi, Lee Yoo, 2011, p. 113) Providing a

1. The Syrian civil war also commonly known as the Syrian uprising is an ongoing armed conflict in
Syria between forces loyal to the Syrian Baath Party government and those seeking to oust it. The
conflict began on 15 March 2011, with popular demonstrations that grew nationwide by April 2011.
These demonstrations were part of the wider Middle Eastern protest movement known as the Arab
Spring. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al Assad, whose family has held the
presidency in Syria since 1971, as well as the end to over four decades of Baath Party rule. In April
2011, the Syrian Army was deployed to quell the uprising. After months of military sieges, the ...

The Compound Effect By Darren Hardy

Dr. Carl Wysocki
Book Summary
June 11, 2017
The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy This was a very good and intriguing book to read throughout
the past couple weeks. I thought that Darren Hardy made handling money and life very simple and
easy unlike other books. I Thought for my summary of the book that I would share some of his great
ideas he presented in the book with his wisdom.
Success and failure are the results of the choices that we make everyday. Part of the compound effect
is making the right decision over and over again for a long period of time in order to be consistently
successful. Its all about making the right decision which can be hard at times because sometimes you

every decision, no matter how slight, alters the trajectory of your life (pg.23).
Another great thing I took from this book is to track the habits that you want to change. This is
something that I can apply to my whole life especially the financial part of it. I fid myself spending
my money way to fast and wondering how it disappeared so quickly. In the book it says to make sure
you record everything that you buy so you can make improvements on what you are doing with your
money. Tracking is a simple exercise. It works because it brings moment to moment awareness to the
actions you take in the area of your life you want to improve (pg. 38).
Another great part about this book is when he talks about riding the momentum of success. Its
important that when you find success that you go back to what got you there and work just as hard as
you did before and you will begin to ride this wave or rhythm of success. Achievers People who get
into a successful rhythm continue busting their butts and end up achieving more and more (pg.94). I
think that one of the most important parts of the book is when talks about developing a routine. A
routine is everything, its what you do everyday in order to be successful and find success in life.
Developing a routine develops great habits in every part of

Known as the Canaries of the seas beluga whales are one of the smallest species of whales. This social
specie has particular physical characteristics, a specific environment, and is threatened by a variety of

The world beluga comes from the Russian word white , this is why they are also known as white
whales. Their unusual color makes them stand out in the dark waters. The Delphinaterus leucas

Belugas forage for food and some even migrate to find food in their habitat, they feed on fish,
crustaceans, mollusk, worms, shrimp and crabs.
Nowadays; shipping, oil extraction and marine construction cause underwater noise pollution, since

Meaning Of The Song This Will End
This Will End by The Oh Hellos, is a song that talks about not staying with a lover, that isn t giving
you need, and the hurt that comes with it. The second verse of this song starts out by saying But I can
hope how this will end, with every line of comedy, that we could learn to love without demand, but
undeserved honesty (AZLyrics 2). This is the first hint of the meaning of the song. The song is talking
about an abusive relationship. He is pleading that they would learn how to love each other, just for
love, and to be honest with each other. The song goes on with the fourth verse, and says I can see how
this will end, in all it s bitter tragedy, I ll give you all I have to spend, and you ll give nothing back to

Decade Of The Brain Essay
The human brain has been largely a topic of discussion in recent decades, so much so that the 1990s
became known as the Decade of the Brain . This is due to the extensive amount of research able to be
conducted due to advancing technology; however there still remains debate on many aspects of
thought, cognition, and overall consciousness that we see as being alive and human. Though many
answers remain shrouded in mystery, scientists are able to deduce one piece of important information:
neurotransmitters play a vital role in emotions and mood felt from person to person. These chemicals,
when put blatantly, are responsible for how we feel and think on a daily basis. Essentially these
neurotransmitters define who we are as individuals because they give the ability to feel and react. This
process is not always a perfect science at times though, and as researchers are finding out, that these
immensely important chemicals can also cause harm alongside all the benefits they bring to a person s
process of thought.

neurotransmitters to be discussed completely so as result scientists will typically focus on those
chemicals that are either found in the brain in either abundance or those that when affected cause very
commonly seen problems in a person s life such as anxiety or depression. On the topic of the structure
of neurotransmitters, typically the chemicals fall in one of three overall categories: amino acids,
neuropeptides, and biogenic amines (Purves, D). These categories are assigned due to the arrangement

After exploration of the pancreas, pancreatic lesion was identified by using intraoperative laparoscopic

Social Security Tax
Taxes are a necessary evil in any civilization. In order to keep the government running and pay for
goods and services, like police and a defense force, everyone must pay their fair share so that money
can be collected to foot the bill, so to speak. Social Security is one such service. The Social Security
program helps seniors to be able to live in retirement and also helps the less fortunate who need
government assistance for various reasons. While most citizens pay their fair share of the tax, there is
a bias in the system towards the very rich. This bias makes the Social Security tax not only a recessive
tax, but also one that unfairly burdens the less fortunate with the bulk of the costs. The tax ... Show

The higher a person s income above the taxation cap, the less of a percentage of their income they pay
into the system. It is thus possible for a person who makes $40,000 a year to pay a higher tax rate than
a person who makes $1,000,000 a year. Thus, Social Security must be considered a recessive tax.
Furthermore, one must take into account who in fact will be receiving the benefits of the Social
Security Program. It is logical to assume those who have better access to health care and the ability to
pay for health care costs will live longer than those who do not. Moreover, the nature of one s work
would also affect health through injuries and bodily strain through manual labor. The wealthier a
person is, the more likely they are to live a long life. It is fairly clear that the Social Security Tax
affects the poor far more than it does the rich. Even among those under the tax cap, the more money
one has, the more one can do to prolong their existence. The sad fact is that the lower an individual s
income, the more the tax becomes detrimental to their daily life and less likely they are to ever receive
the benefits of the program they have paid into.
The way the tax affects the poor does not seem fair. The way the tax affects a large chuck on the
middle class does not seem fair. In reality, the way the tax treats anyone making equal to or less than
$110,100 does not seem fair. Taxes affect

Analysis Of Facing It By Yusef Komunyakaa
Facing It is a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa. It is a poem in which the writer uses imagery and
figurative language to express his feelings and his thoughts. He expresses his strong emotions towards
the Vietnam War because he was a veteran. During the poem, he reflects on his thoughts from the war
while he was at the Vietnam Veteran Memorial.
The speaker is visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In the beginning of the poem, he is trying to
hold back his tears. He is trying to remain strong and brave. When he is at the Vietnam Veteran s
Memorial, he comes across the name Andrew Johnson. As the readers of this poem, I have no clue
who Andrew Johnson is. Andrew Johnson could be someone that was close to him during the war. At
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, you can see your reflection through the walls. The walls at the
memorial are how the narrator speaks about his reflections and what he can see through the walls. The
very last few lines of the poem are when he sees a reflection of a white vet in the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial.
In lines 1 2, my black face fades, hiding inside the black granite he is speaking about how his face is
literally black from the granite wall. He is also speaking how the kind of person we show to the world.
We do not always show who we truly are, people only show the side of their personality that they want
people to see. From these two lines, the narrator brings up the main theme of this poem. In lines 3 5,
the writer is expressing his feelings or he is at least trying not to, he tries to hold back his emotions
from the war. He wants to remain strong because he says, I m stone and flesh He is not literally saying
that he is stone but he is a person that has been through a lot and even after everything he is still alive.
In lines 6 9, imagery is the only thing being used because he is only speaking about his reflection and
how it relates to the granite stone. In lines 10 13, he says, I am inside the Vietnam Veterans Memorial .
From this line, part of the narrator is still stuck at the war. He brings up light and how he wants it to
make a difference. Light is symbolized for how we represent ourselves to others and the kind of
person we truly are. It also plays a big part in the poem

The main action that occurs at the beginning of this scene is the meeting between the Duke and the
senators of Venice, in the council chambers. Council meetings are usually held during the day; but the
fact that it is night time now, makes the audience think that the topic of this meeting is so important
that the council members cannot wait till it is morning to discuss it. This strategy used by Shakespeare
motivates the audience to focus on the scene.
The purpose of this meeting is to decide the future of one of the Venetian colonies, Cyprus. Cyprus is
a trading island, where merchants from all over the world come to trade and therefore Cyprus has
become the target of the Turkish fleet to conquer, as Turkey has an interest in Cyprus s wealth in this
meeting. It is to be decided what the Venetian s will do to protect their colony from the imminent
attack of the Turkish fleet. The Turks are non Christians and therefore considered to be malevolent
during the era, and anybody who s not white and a Christian, were always associated with evil.
Shakespeare subtly introduces the theme of racial discrimination on the grounds of religiously.

Pericles Leadership Style
Described by Thucydides as the foremost Athenian and most able in speech or action [at the time of
the Peloponnesian War,] Pericles ushered in what was widely known as the Golden Age of Athens
(31). He often exercised great prudence in his decision making and was widely admired by the Greek
people. The man stressed justice, the worth of the Empire, and cleaving one s personal interests to
those of the city. Through his eloquent speeches and definitive actions he captured both the hearts of
the Athenians and territory as a premier military commander. The people readily accepted his
authority, and became accustomed to it. This would only lead to problems down the road, however, as
other rulers took up the mantle of Athens. They would only be but a gilded echo of Pericles, unable
and unwilling to follow his path. Therefore, though Pericles did not intentionally set Athens up to fail,
because of the oratorical skill, leadership style, and character he possessed, success could only be truly
achieved by and through him.
First and foremost, Pericles was perhaps the best type of person to lead an empire like Athens because
of his ability to sway the people with his speaking. Near the beginning of a speech by the Corinthians,
wherein Corinth is attempting to persuade the Lacedaemonians to declare war on Athens, the orators
describe the empire as bold beyond their power, [who] take thoughtless risks... and never hesitate (19).
According to them, the Athenians were an impulsive

Building Block Toward My Career Development
Since the age of seven, I started to help my parents with basic chores around the house. For example, I
helped my mom clean around the house, take out the trash, dish wash, and fold the laundry. During
this period, my parents paid me in form of allowance and started a college trust fund to pay for college
fees later in life. In addition, I applied for a job during high school to work for Vons. This was my first
job and the start of the basic building block toward my career development. Furthermore, I began to
get more involved in high school and volunteered for my school charity outreach programs. For
instance, the Los Angeles Food Bank came every Friday and passed out food to underprivileged
families who lived in project homes. Also, I volunteered in an organization called, Saved the Earth
which cleaned the streets, beaches and spread awareness about preserving the national environment. In
addition, I volunteered at St. Jude research hospital and read books to cancer children and assisted the
nurses with giving out pamphlets to the families of the patient. Lastly, I had a valuable opportunity to
observe the nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists and participate in hands on
experiences. Therefore, all of these experiences led me to develop the necessary skills to pursue my
future job. For example, my parents taught me valuable lessons of responsibility from doing chores to
be responsible for completing assignments, which is important skill to have in life.

Wilfred Owen accomplishes a wide array of different objectives in his poem De Dulce Decorum Est
through his word choice, tone, and vivid imagery. Using a destitute tone consistently throughout the

and comparing them through many similes. Owen also gives us a clear depiction of how he saw war,
being a soldier himself against the backdrop of WWI, Owen had a strong opposition to war and
suffered himself from shell shock. A portion of his poem in the last stanza is a direct reference to

social norms of the day because it benefitted her life but some people may disagree. First, Cimorene is
justified in ignoring expected social norms of the day. All in all, Linderwall was a very prosperous and
pleasant place, Cimorene hated it. (Wrede,1). This is important because Cimorene wants to be normal

Use Of Mobile Phones On Teenagers
Abuse of Mobile Phones by Teenagers
Have you ever buried your face in your smartphone for hours? Have you missed out on events or told
your friends you couldn t hang out because you just wanted to stay at home and watch Netflix or play
video games? If so, you probably have, or have previously had, an addiction to technology. The first
Apple iPhone was only released ten years ago, and it is becoming a bigger issue for this generation s
teenagers. Teenagers are abusing modern technology it s affecting them and others negatively because
it encourages irritability and depression, discourages face to face interaction, and puts teenager s
privacy and safety at risk.
To begin, technology affects teenagers mindset negatively. First, it can result in a lack of chemicals,
such as melatonin, a chemical triggered in your brain that helps you reach a state of relaxation. This

In emergency response management the basic network involves receiving information and then the mobilization of the necessary emergency services and first responders to the disaster area. This is should include a first wave of core emergency services, such as firefighters, police and ambulance crews, but the size of the emergency determines the amount of resources allocated to any disaster. In receiving information there needs to be a way to provide and obtain accurate and timely information about the event and keep communication open and flowing with all the responders. It should have a way for key people to communicate and keep everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would greatly reduce any information overload that would hinder decision making. In the span of not having enough information, some decision makers will wait on making a decision, but this could be just as bad as making a wrong decision.[Carver] Other key decision makers will fall back on routines which might not be relevant in the situation. The technology in this situation needs to be able to take the amount of information gathered and then start the allocation of resources to the area so that information does start coming in, they can immediately start implementing the response plans. There is a need for both discipline, which would include structure, doctrine, and processes, and agility which could be defined by creativity, improvisation, adaptability in responding to a disaster.[Walker] There is also the need to onboard and build an effective leadership team quickly to coordinate and manage efforts as they grow beyond first responders. The leader and team must formulate and implement a disciplined, iterative set of response plans, allowing initial coordinated responses that are vaguely right, adapting to new information and changes in circumstances as they arise. There needs to be a broad system that will allow people who have never worked together before the ability to understand the objectives from the information provided and instantly update on any ... The Impact Of Iso 14001 On Asian Firms THE IMPACT OF ISO 14001 ON ASIAN FIRMS 1, Challenging World of Business in Asia Firms in developed countries have been faced with increasing amounts of pressure to manage and evaluate the impact of their activities on environment as the impacts went well beyond local and regional levels since around the 1970s. Following the developed countries, the same concern has become increasingly obvious in Asia as most of Asian industries have been developed through the export driven style economy and this has made them to do their economic activities in conformity with international standards. In order to reach better profitability and international competitiveness, firms in Asia have been facing the challenges of operating their business without damaging the environment and their corporate finances. The Asian continent enjoys a very rich mixture of complex cultures and this complexity is reflected in their economic, political, legal and business systems. Most Southeast Asian countries developed through primarily agricultural economies where industrial production has a limited influence until about 30 years ago (Oosterveer, Kamolsiripichaiporn and Rasiah 2006, p. 217). As industrial production increased rapidly over the last decades, the number of NIEs, newly industrialised economies, in the region has expanded to include countries such as Malaysia, Thai and Indonesia. • 5. The Telecommunications Act Of 1996 President Bill Clinton created the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to promote fair competition in the United States telecommunications market. President Clinton s goal was to establish an open market so that any business can compete in the telecommunications field. Since the creation of the Telecommunications Act, there has been a bevy of radio and television mergers. One can safely say that with all the recent mergers, some companies have become monopolies in their respective fields. The Telecommunications Act primary focus is to help businesses compete against other businesses so that the consumer can reap the benefits of lower prices for services, a wider selection of services from different companies, more jobs, and a better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Act will prevent a single broadcast group owner from dominating the national media market (The American Presidency Project, 2016). The problem with this statement is that in today s society this is not true. Currently, 90 percent of the media is owned by just six companies: Viacom, News Corporation, CBS, Comcast, Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape global political views and cover Presidential elections in America. AT T whom which currently owns Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016). This purchase is still pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Justice (James, 2017). AT T would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS, Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT T would sell cable service and own cable content. The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly that AT T had on phone service (New America, 2010). The Telecommunications Act of 1996 creates one huge problem? The Telecommunications Act of 1996 doesn t allow fair competition; it enables large Media companies to become conglomerates. ... Many potential consumers for hybrid vehicle and hybrid vehicle owners think that the hybrid system is worth the extra penny due to better fuel economy. However, the realistic is that it has higher maintenance despite of its outstanding fuel economy figures. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, consumer is forced to pay for the battery pack which costs around $4,000 from their pocket, not manufactures . When the battery pack is replaced, despite of good fuel economy, it costs more to own hybrid than conventional vehicle. Many people buy hybrid cars because they have been told that hybrids are much more eco friendly than any other vehicles out on the market and they feel proud for supporting the Mother Nature. Surprisingly, it is a fact that a recent report announced that the Toyota Prius has a higher life time energy cost than Hummer H1 SUV (kentlaw.edu). It also states, There are, however, environmental costs to mining and smelting (in Canada) 1,000 tons a year of zinc for the battery powered second motor, and the shipping of the zinc 10,000 miles trailing a cloud of carbon to Wales for refining and then to China for turning it into the component that goes to a battery factory in Japan (kentlaw.edu). The union was originally a secret, but later was open to all workers, including blacks, women and farmers. Five hundred thousand workers joined in a year. Their goals were an eight hour work day, a minimum wage, arbitration rather than strikes, health and safety laws, equal pay for equal work, no child labor under the age of fourteen, and government ownership of railroads, telegraphs and telephones. However, the Knights of Labor was a relatively weak organization, and eventually fell apart. In 1886, the American Federation of Labor (AF of L) was formed and replaced the Knights of Labor. Its leader was former cigar union official Samuel Gompers who only wanted to focus on skilled workers. The AF of L was a conglomeration of twenty five unions that included three hundred thousand workers working for increasing wages, reducing hours, and improving working conditions. Gompers believed that everyone should receive equal pay for equal work, and that everyone s rights should be protected. In order to keep the government running and pay for goods and services, like police and a defense force, everyone must pay their fair share so that money can be collected to foot the bill, so to speak. Social Security is one such service. The Social Security program helps seniors to be able to live in retirement and also helps the less fortunate who need government assistance for various reasons. It is thus possible for a person who makes $40,000 a year to pay a higher tax rate than a person who makes $1,000,000 a year. Thus, Social Security must be considered a recessive tax. Furthermore, one must take into account who in fact will be receiving the benefits of the Social Security Program. It is logical to assume those who have better access to health care and the ability to pay for health care costs will live longer than those who do not. Moreover, the nature of one s work would also affect health through injuries and bodily strain through manual labor. The wealthier a person is, the more likely they are to live a long life. • 27. Analysis Of Facing It By Yusef Komunyakaa Facing It is a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa. It is a poem in which the writer uses imagery and figurative language to express his feelings and his thoughts. He expresses his strong emotions towards the Vietnam War because he was a veteran. During the poem, he reflects on his thoughts from the war while he was at the Vietnam Veteran Memorial. The speaker is visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In the beginning of the poem, he is trying to hold back his tears. He is trying to remain strong and brave. When he is at the Vietnam Veteran s Memorial, he comes across the name Andrew Johnson. As the readers of this poem, I have no clue who Andrew Johnson is. Andrew Johnson could be someone that was close to him during the war. At the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, you can see your reflection through the walls. The walls at the memorial are how the narrator speaks about his reflections and what he can see through the walls. The very last few lines of the poem are when he sees a reflection of a white vet in the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In lines 1 2, my black face fades, hiding inside the black granite he is speaking about how his face is literally black from the granite wall. He is also speaking how the kind of person we show to the world. We do not always show who we truly are, people only show the side of their personality that they want people to see. From these two lines, the narrator brings up the main theme of this poem. In lines 3 5, the writer is expressing his feelings or he is at least trying not to, he tries to hold back his emotions from the war. He wants to remain strong because he says, I m stone and flesh He is not literally saying that he is stone but he is a person that has been through a lot and even after everything he is still alive. In lines 6 9, imagery is the only thing being used because he is only speaking about his reflection and how it relates to the granite stone. In lines 10 13, he says, I am inside the Vietnam Veterans Memorial . From this line, part of the narrator is still stuck at the war. He brings up light and how he wants it to make a difference. Light is symbolized for how we represent ourselves to others and the kind of person we truly are. It also plays a big part in the poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Pericles Leadership Style Described by Thucydides as the foremost Athenian and most able in speech or action [at the time of the Peloponnesian War,] Pericles ushered in what was widely known as the Golden Age of Athens (31). He often exercised great prudence in his decision making and was widely admired by the Greek people. The man stressed justice, the worth of the Empire, and cleaving one s personal interests to those of the city. Through his eloquent speeches and definitive actions he captured both the hearts of the Athenians and territory as a premier military commander. The people readily accepted his authority, and became accustomed to it. This would only lead to problems down the road, however, as other rulers took up the mantle of Athens. They would only be but a gilded echo of Pericles, unable and unwilling to follow his path. Therefore, though Pericles did not intentionally set Athens up to fail, because of the oratorical skill, leadership style, and character he possessed, success could only be truly achieved by and through him. First and foremost, Pericles was perhaps the best type of person to lead an empire like Athens because of his ability to sway the people with his speaking. Near the beginning of a speech by the Corinthians, wherein Corinth is attempting to persuade the Lacedaemonians to declare war on Athens, the orators describe the empire as bold beyond their power, [who] take thoughtless risks... and never hesitate (19). According to them, the Athenians were an impulsive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, I applied for a job during high school to work for Vons. This was my first job and the start of the basic building block toward my career development. Furthermore, I began to get more involved in high school and volunteered for my school charity outreach programs. For instance, the Los Angeles Food Bank came every Friday and passed out food to underprivileged families who lived in project homes. Also, I volunteered in an organization called, Saved the Earth which cleaned the streets, beaches and spread awareness about preserving the national environment. In addition, I volunteered at St. Jude research hospital and read books to cancer children and assisted the nurses with giving out pamphlets to the families of the patient. Lastly, I had a valuable opportunity to observe the nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists and participate in hands on experiences. Therefore, all of these experiences led me to develop the necessary skills to pursue my future job.
