The American Architectural Firm Skidmore
Introduction Formed in 1936, the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM)
is one of the most successful and innovate firms to focus on high end commercial building and lead
the paradigm of the use of the modern international, or glass box style of skyscraper. Since its
inception, the firm has designed and built several of the world s largest buildings including the John
Hancock Center (1969), the Sears Tower (1973) and the Burj Khalifa (2010), currently the world s
tallest building. The company has diversified and evolved and now offers services in Architecture,
Building Services, Graphics, Digital and Interior Design, Structural and Civil Engineering, and most
recently, Sustainable Design and Urban Planning (Adams). For many, in fact, SOM s postwar
buildings are the essential building blocks to understand the modern movement in the United States.
Biography SOM was founded by Louis Skidmore (1897 1962), Nathaniel Owings (1903 1984), and
John Merrill (1896 1975). Merrill was the structural engineer of the group, while Skidmore was the
architect, and Owings the visionary. Owings was known as the catalyst, the person in the firm who
ironed out differences among clients, contractors and the planning commission (Barron). The strength
of the three was that they had the vision to move beyond the standards of their time, to imagine a way
to bring beauty and structural integrity to the needs of the modern urban environment, and to
understand how to

The State Of Wyoming Permits
The state of Wyoming permits the first law in the country granting women over the age 21 the right to
vote. Subsequently assembly the Union in 1890s, it turns into the first state to permit women the right
to vote in elections, though in 1887, Kansas permitted women to vote in elections. The colonies
embrace the English system of property ownership for married women, implication women cannot
own assets in their own name or keep a type of profit. By early 1900s, all states will have accepted
legislation sculpted after New York s Married Women s Property Act (1848), which grants married
women the right to keep their own earnings and to own land in their own term. First Women s Rights
Convention was held in 1848. Approximately 300 activists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Variances over the 13 15th Amendments and the connection between women s suffrage and the
measure for racial equality split the women s rights movement between two organizations: The
National Woman Suffrage Association and The American Woman Suffrage Association. The
adversaries will unite in 1890 to system the National American Women s Suffrage Association.
Women from both parties knew that in order to stay strong and win rights, is to combine and hold
hands with each other the whole process without fighting. The Territory of Wyoming passes the first
law in the country granting women over age 21 the right to vote. Later joining the Union in 1890,
Wyoming becomes the first state to let women the right to vote in all polls, yet in 1887, Kansas let
women to vote in municipal elections. Women knew every step to success in their goals is to have a
domino effect. One state will start off and every other state will end up granting equal rights to both
genders, therefore more support from more women from different states means support overall. A
federal law that let female federal workers equal pay and equal work is passed. Even though it was
passed, it was leaving out majority of female workers who work for private corporations and or state
and local governments until the adoption of the Equal Pay Act in 1963. Many holes where made and

How Does Mortal Relationships Be Recognized By The...
In Cuba, there exists such a paradigm, by which many of the religions there are analyzed by. It even
extends to the limit of verifying whether or not a practice should be recognized by the government and
general population solely because of certain precepts that exist within the religion s infrastructure.
Creating a great divide between those who follow religions which are respected by the community and
those who follow religions eschewed by the same community. Such model holds true for the sects:
Regla de Ocha and Regla de Palo.

One method being cowrie shells (Mason, 18). The meticulous and strategically thrown cowrie shells
give serve as a message every time they land on the surface, just as we use Morse code to
communicate, the orichas use cowrie shells to share a message to us humans.
Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and possessive
than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many laypeople) choose to
not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to backfire on those who are
followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A relationship with a spirit in Rela de
Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize the two parties. The spirit or muerto is
trapped in either a bottle or nganga and works for the person who wields the object of entrapment. The
main way a palero (priest) of Regla de Ocha establishes a relationship with a spirit is through the
collection of the bones of a passed priestess or priest. The process of obtaining bones from a person
not directly related to you is illegal in Cuba; however, exhumed skeletons which are claimed in time
are generally sold to paleros in search of new muertos to help them prosper. Since these disturbed
spirits do work on be half of those who hold their remains, if they are not treated with complete

Robin Williams Case Study
Case Study
Robin Williams will go down in history as one of America s favorite stand up comedians and actors.
Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and showcased
Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will Hunting,
showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were devastated
when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how America s
favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole world wondering
who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras weren t rolling.
Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers
that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged
parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to
Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping
mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was
when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the beginning
of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans, 2016)
In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard School
of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a Hollywood
actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before graduating and
moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian.
It was here that he began to be successful, but unfortunately, along with that success came his
involvement with drugs and alcohol. Williams once explained in an interview that he used cocaine
because it had a reverse effect on him and made him talk less. (Lincoln, 2015)
Robin Williams was successful in his endeavors to be discovered on stage. His career began to take off
as he started getting small acting roles in shows like Happy Days, which lead to his own spinoff show
Mork and Mindy. Author Brian Morris says, Despite

Impact Of Labor Force In The 21st Century
There is a great change going on in employment trend and labor force in the U.S. in 21st century
because of aging, diversity immigrants and few other factors and it s a dramatic change, from 1950 to
2050. This massive demographic change has an impact on the number of people working or people
looking for work. In the beginning of 21st century the demand for labor force has increased which is
one of the main source for growth and economic progress. Growth rate in population and labor force
has changed the trend in employment today compare to 1950. Today more older people are working,
its more diversified and more women are involved at workplace. There are going to be significant
changes in coming years compare to past 50 years. For example, labor growth rate will be less than
what we had in past 50 years. As per the Mitra Toossi s article A century of change: the U.S. labor
force, 1950 2015 , The high growth rate of civilian labor force in the past 50 years will be replaced by
much lower growth rates in the next 50 years . The main reason to this slowdown in growth of the
labor force is high tech innovation which is reducing the demand of traditional labor force.
Another demographic change in the employment trend is the change in gender structure. We have seen
more number of women at workplace compare past 50 years and their number at work place are
increasing very fast. This change came because of equal rights to women at workplace plus they are
more involved with their

Wind In The Willows Map Analysis
On page 30, we see the map that shows how limited the scope of her father s life was. The map is
drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling the
locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The text box
overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the reader that this
impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we have only seen it as
misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the very next panel, we see an
image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his family is to stray from their small
town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is somewhat suffocating, especially as ...

By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath

Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of the children s
novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to him, speeding
towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her father s existence as he
too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on a highway that summer, the
same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact of this event clearly has an

Enlisted Distribution And Assignment System Essay
Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System The Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System
(EDAS) is a great system with minimal hardware and software requirements. The system is simple
and effective at what it does. Competition is scarce and there are very few things that should be
changed involving the technical aspects of the system. The more than 100,000 assignments that are
processed through EDAS annually are vital to the versatility of the Soldiers in the greatest Army the
world has ever known. Server Side Hardware Requirements There is a shift that has been occurring in
recent years to move away from server hardware to cloud computing. As Gallaugher stated, it is
evident in IBM s quarterly numbers (pg 217). The company saw an increase in earnings with a larger
decrease in hardware sales. Though this may be true, there are many services that undoubtedly require
the use of mainframe hardware produced by companies such as IBM. The only available information
about the EDAS Server Side Hardware is that it runs on the USAHRC Data Center Mainframe
(Human Resources Command, 2016). I imagine that this data center is something like the data center
represented by SAP. There is certainly a server room. This room contains some sort of primary and
secondary cooling. The room also contains a power source and in case that source fails, likely a
battery backup to hold interim power while the generators kick on. All of this would be necessary to

Tsar Nicholas 1 Research Paper
I stand here today to inform you of my motives and rationale that pushed me to become the leader that
I am today after Tsar Nicholas the second abdicated, giving Russia the chance to start fresh. I was
elated by the news of the abdication of Tsar Nicholas. I strongly believe this is the best thing for
Russia and I would not have had it any other way.
I have been questioning his methods of ruling for years now, ever since he stripped my family of my
beloved brother. I had idolized my brother and was inspired to follow his footsteps in a fight for
change when the Tsar s okhrana brutality took him from me on May the 8th, 1887. I believed the Tsar
Nicholas s ruling methods to be outdated and his use of brutality and ignorance to be the cause of the
minorities depression within this mislead country. The motivation my brother s death brought to me
pushed me to investigate further into politics. Here I found more unjust laws the Tsar stood by and I
decided to work hard enough to make a change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Tragedy In A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams play, A Streetcar Named Desire, written in 1947 evoked a montage of critical
commentaries and reviews about where it stands in terms of its genre. This was due to its intense
concentration on realism and the exclusion of any definite protagonists and antagonists. Many assume
the play is a tragedy. There is a copious amount of evidence to support this assumption. However, the
ambiguity embodied by the play and the melodramatic devices used by Williams, contradicts the
classification of the play as a tragedy entirely. Others have defined it as a melodrama with conventions
of tragedy included. This is a contentious topic. The answer lies in the interpretation of the characters
and the context. In order to explain these interpretations, one must define the ... Show more content on

In Scene 10, Blanche is at her lowest point in the play when she is raped by Stanley. He shatters her
built up illusions and pretensions, uncovering her multitude of lies. She is forced to face the true threat
that Stanley poses to her, as he says Not once did you pull any wool over this boy s eyes (p.158)
acknowledging her many delusions and how he has broken them. One of Aristotle s characteristics of
tragedy is the idea of Anagnorisis; the reversal of fate brought by the hero s own actions, their
hamartia, leading to a fate greater than that deserved. In most cases, the tragic hero s fate is death, this
is not the case in Streetcar. In modern tragedies, there is an accusation made against a mundane world
of ordinary people in which the only escape is through self delusion, alcohol, sex and madness. This
play, becomes an ultimate example of this as Blanche s entire existence is shattered, and the other
characters merely resume their lives. The play is built around this tragic indifference, emphasised by
the detached ending; This game is seven card stud (p.179), and they return to their poker

The Diamond Necklace, By Maupassant
Social classes exists since the years. Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all the time,
while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other people who move
from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual effort. In the Diamond
Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born poor and was not happy with
her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she tried for all occasion to appear as
rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different ways why Mathilde should recognize
and accept her social class and live in the level of her class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept
her social class because her honor does not depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her
class because happiness does not depend on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her
social class to avoid the deterioration of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class
because her honor does not depend on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually
capacity. People are not respected because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is
determinant in how people will respect him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was
neither caste nor rank, for beauty, grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant).
Since Mathilde had a natural beauty, she should not care about her class. Her

Essay On The Causes Of The Civil War
Civil War noun a war between political factions or regions within the same country. The regions in the
Civil War of 1860 that took place in 1860 1864 were the North and the South. They had different
beliefs that eventually sent them into war. The 3 main causes of this civil war were: states rights,
economy, and most importantly, slavery.
The first of the three main causes is states rights. The south believed they had the right to take their
slaves to the new states being admitted into the Union. In the secession document written by the State
of Virginia, it says, Powers granted under the said Constitution were derived from the people and To

From the article, Economics and the civil war Schulman points out, Southern planters were concerned
that high tariffs might make their European trading partner, primarily the British, raise prices on
manufactured goods imported by the south in order to maintain a profit on trade. The south were
afraid of high tariffs since they could hurt them financially in business (Schulman). Also from the
article 1828 Tariff of Abominations Alchin says The South, who had once favored Henry Clay s Tariff
1816 and his American System which financed the construction of new roads into the west, now
opposed both. To explain, The south were originally for the Tariff and American System but now did
not like either since they help them and only hurt them (Alchin).
The view on tariffs was much different in the north though, they viewed them as good and helpful
since the tariffs did not really affect them other than help. In the article, Economics and the Civil War ,
Schulman states In the North, however, high tariffs were viewed favorably because such tariffs would
make imported goods more expensive. Tariffs that were high would promote American goods by
making European goods seem more expensive (Schulman). The article 1828 Tariff of

The concept of sustainable development was introduced by the publication of the Brundland report
having a basis of meeting the needs of the current situation while considering the upcoming
generations in meeting their needs too (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987).
While the concept is true, achievement of the sustainable development has no clear and definite route
(Becker, Jahn, Stiess, Wehling, 1997; Walker Kubisch, 2008).
Challenges in the society entail those in the production and those in the consumption (Beck, 1986). It
is therefore prudent to use a variety of evaluation that includes systems evaluation and developmental
evaluation (Imam, LaGoy Williams 2007; Patton, 2008). Challenges linked to sustainable
development needs knowledge development and a clear link between science and society (Funtowicz
Ravetz, 1993; Gibbons et al., 1994; Jasanoff, 2004; Nowotny, Scott, Gibbons, 2001). Management of
project sustainability requires continuous improvement of ways and update of tools of governance
(Voss, Bauknecht, Kemp, 2006; Hajer, 2003; Loorbach, 2007; Rotmans, Kemp, Asselt, 2001).
Projects are best placed when they make the most sense to purposed primary uses and when it
provides probable solution to the community challenge (Patton, 2008; Gibbons et al. 1994; Nowotny
et al. 2001; Regeer Bunders, 2009). Communities face complex and varied problems,

Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire
Practice Essay: Emilia Kelly
The two texts of Enduring Love and A Streetcar named Desire show privilege of one way of
perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Ian McEwan s Enduring Love, shows favour
of Joe s scientific and rational view but also demonstrates that it is flawed. Similarly, Tennessee
Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names
Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s
post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air
ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar
Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her
husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A
Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while
characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion.
Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships
that still result in unfavourable outcomes.
In McEwan s conclusion of Enduring Love, Joe s perception of logic and science is presented to the
reader as the privilege view in the novel. This scientific perception was shown throughout the novel

My Goal In My Life
I would have to say that my life task will be to be a problem solver. In the video Tom Kelley(Founder

you can find your life task. Fourteen years ago, I used to work for Hewlett Packard and like the Venn
diagram I was good at it, I was born to do and I got paid to do what I loved, code and solve problems.
The environment was good to work, every Friday after work we used to gather outside the building to
play dominoes. I would say if you asked myself where I saw me in five or ten years I would have
answered that I would be working at Hewlett Packard. But that was not how it happened my division
was the first one to go after the Compaq merger. This is probably my starting point for my mastery
journey.
I moved the family to Orlando, FL and started my own business. I used to put a lot of ours in to it and
it was consuming a lot of time and it was not healthy for the kids or my marriage. It is not until that
life took a good turn and I got the opportunity to work for Florida Virtual School. It is quite a
turnaround since my Mother and Sisters are all educators and I didn t want to follow their footsteps
that is why I studied Computer Science. Since I like to solve problems and find better ways to do the

Jointly owned assets can be a very challenging thing to deal with after someone dies. Any jointly
owned property with a spouse will be easy to figure out, since chances are that you ll want the
property to go to the other person. This includes your house, car, or land that you own.
Unfortunately, other items are much harder to divide when jointly owned. For example, a small
business that is owned by two people will have another owner to contend with. While the other owner
may feel like they deserve to inherit the other half of the company, you may have your own thoughts
on who you want to leave it for. Disputes like these will be settled in probate.
Be sure you get documentation for jointly owned assets that states how all owners agree for the asset
to be divided after someone s death. This will help avoid any disputes later on.

Egalitarianism In The 1700s
Starting in the late 1700s there has been an adjustment in the various countries of the Middle East and
North Africa. It is a known fact that in these areas there is a hierarchy of tribal, ethnic, familial;
despite the weakening of the traditional social framework and the erosion of the status of the
traditional tribal, ethnic, and religious notables. While this is still true to this day there have been
many changes from the 1700s to the second colonial areas that have brought about new political
identities particularly the idea of nationalism and egalitarian ideology.

The Effect of High Light Wavelengths on Pollen Tube Growth on Impatiens walleriana
Introduction
Flower reproduction is highly influenced by various environmental factors including external
temperature, moisture, and light. Each needs to be at a desired level for the flower to contain mature,
viable pollen. Pollen grains, being one of the most important factors of the flower s ability to
reproduce, need all these factors as well to become viable.
Solar radiation has become an expanding factor over the years caused by increased weather climates
and in turn causes reductions of the ozone layer in the atmosphere [6]. Most researchers have been
correlating this growing trend with agricultural vegetation success, damaging their vital tissues for ...

Made with all data obtained with each treatment using R program. Red light seemed to have a higher
mean length but the standard error of flashlight could have made an impact on their mean length
values, which could easily overcome red light. There is a statistically significant difference between
red and blue light. (n=30; un paired t test: P=7.79E 08). (Outliers red 583um, 549um).
It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar
mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a
production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller
mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the negative
influence of sunlight.
Analysis:
In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four groups of
data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant difference towards
red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA). Based on this data, the
red illuminated flower produced longer pollen tubes, and since the means can be considered unequal
from one way ANOVA and there is a significant difference between red and blue tube lengths, our
hypothesis is supported that a higher wavelength of light is beneficial for flower reproduction
enhancing pollen tube

Suffering In The Poems Of Wilfred Owen And Jane Weir
Both poems display suffering in similar ways; Both poems demonstrate the effects of war. Wilfred
Owen and Jane Weir are angry and frustrated about what has happened during and after the war.
Questions are a most common feature of both poems, they are designed to make the reader think. Both
writers make use of literary techniques to draw attention to especially important parts of the poems.
Even though they displayed suffering in similar ways they still used their own ideas and approaches;
Owen writes from the point of view of someone who was involved in the war. Weir writes about
mainly one soldier affected by the war.
Owen had joined the army in 1915 yet was hospitalized in May 1917 experiencing shell shock. Owen,
in the long run, came back to the war, however, was tragically killed days before the war finished. He
is currently thought of as one of Britain s most noteworthy war poets. `Exposure gives a direct image
of life in the trenches during WW1. By the winter of 1917, the two sides had huge losses of soldiers
and extremely frosty climate. It was said to be the coldest winter in living memory. Many troopes
created trench foot, an infection caused by feet being wet and frosty and in boots for days on end. The
image Owen created through descriptive words in the readers minds conflicted with the scenes
displayed by the British press.
In Jane Weir´s poem, Poppies the effect of conflict of people not in the military is explored. Poppies is

The Negative Effects Of Technology In Dave Eggers s The...
Imagine a world where everyone s enigmatic thoughts were exposed to the public. Today, in the vast
cyberspace, anonymity leads to audacious actions of cruel words posted by rather introverted
individuals who would not dare to speak those words in a face to face encounter. Furthermore, they
refuse to be held accountable for their actions and interfere with peace by creating chaos. The phrases
secrets are lies , sharing is caring and privacy is theft (CITE?) are explicated in Dave Eggers, The
Circle. Mae Holland follows these three mantras, justified by leaders of the Circle, to make life
changing decisions. A world extracted of anonymity and instead, policed by an omniscient public is
one cause to the negative effects of technology on one s private life. In The Circle, programs are
developed in the Circle to implicate improved and advanced living conditions through the use of
technology. Ironically, these programs such as Past Perfect , ChildTrack , SoulSearch and SeeChange
introduce immoral issues. The plot of The Circle by Dave Eggers portrays the negative aspects of
technology on private lives shown through character experiences in the novel and raises unethical
issues about the programs created in the Circle, which correspond to the influence technology has in
the real world. Mae Holland started her job at the Circle, known to be the most powerful company in
the world. It combines someone s entire online footprint into a single online identity. The company

McDonald s Hotels
Written Case Analysis
By
Sean Bibbey
SWOT Analysis
External Environment
The external environment of the hotel industry in is very competitive and already well established.
Trends in the market include promotional campaigns to customers using the more bang for your buck,
method. There are several different segments of the hotel industry including: luxury, upscale, mid
market with food and beverage, mid market without food and beverage, economy, and budget. Each
different segment offers certain amenities to appeal to consumers depending on what they are looking
for in an over night stay away from home. As McDonald s looks at entering the hotel industry they
have looked at several important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, McDonald s could create a totally brand name driven hotel enterprise by using the same type
of direction Disney did when they created their own cruise line. Strategy Recommendations
General Recommendations
McDonald s should use their brand name to create a McDonald s experience in the hotel industry just
like Disney did with cruises. They should also incorporate their food service experience with their
hotels and create new menus for them just like they do when they enter a new country.
Specific Recommendations
McDonald s should enter the mid market with food and beverage segment. In this segment they can
take advantage of what they already know in the food service industry while avoiding the high cost
and inexperience of luxury accommodations. These hotels should be directed at children and families.
They could incorporate the McDonald s Play Place and other fun activity rooms like arcades or maybe
something more adult like a game room with pool tables and electronic darts. Using a more family
oriented direction will also allow them to avoid the high cost of liquor licenses and trying to compete
with something that is already being done.
Rationale behind Recommendations
If McDonald s wants to take part in the hotel industry using the strength of their brand name it is
important that they differentiate themselves from all the other hotel chains. If

The Importance Of Self-Regulation In Young Children
The importance of self regulation in young children should be a common topic in the world of
teaching. The idea of self regulation is a simple one, self regulation is a mechanism enabling to control
one s impulses and, doing something that is needed (Aras, 2015). Without self regulation, students can
hardly progress to higher levels of understanding. In Selda Aras article Promoting Self Regulations in
the Early Years: Tolls of the Mind she explains that without the right set of skills students will have
difficulty learning in a classroom setting (2015). When a student enters school they are not there just
for academic purposes, they are there to learn how to interact socially and emotionally as well. If those
topics are not addressed early on in a child s life normal things can become difficult. Aras uses Lev
Vygotsky and the Tools of the Mind program to explain how best to implement self regulation in
students. This gives the impression that she believes all children should be in a Tools of the Mind
program and that might be the author s preference she does give several ideas as to further children s
self regulation skills. These ideas can be used in the average classroom, daycare or home, they are
simple changes to ideas already in place that can help children to develop better social and emotional
understanding. These ideas included focusing on the students rather than the lesson plan, having the
students help make the classroom rules, putting students in situations that they have to understand
what they have done. Implementing self regulation does not have to be difficult it can be little things
that help students understand themselves and their classmates. Another concept Aras found important
was the myths that surround self regulation and how they can adversely affect students and teachers.
As a future teacher, it is vital for me to know and understand these myths. Many of the myths I never
thought as harmful to learners, such as the idea that we need to wait for children to grow into their
maturity before they are taught more regulatory skills. Children can start developing the skills
necessary to self regulate before they fully understand the need for it. Or that some people have the
idea

Hispanic-American Culture
Culture: Entertainment, Holidays, Clothing
When thinking about Hispanic parties, most people think of piñatas, traditional hollow papier mâché
creations filled with candy. Each child at the party is blindfolded and given a stick to try and break the
piñata, spilling the candy onto the ground for all the children to collect (Explore Hispanic Culture,
2012). However, researchers believe this tradition extends back to Mayan times, where clay pots filled
with gifts were broken open and considered to be favors from the gods (EHC, 2012).
Mariachis are also traditionally present during Hispanic American celebrations. These bands of
talented instrumentalists play well into the night, using violins, trumpets, and guitars as they serenade

Chemical Attack In Syria
On April 4th, about 86 people were killed in a chemical attack in a town in Syria. While most people
were sleeping warplanes, suspected to be from the Syrian military, dropped bombs full of toxic
chemicals on the rebel filled town, Khan Sheikhoun. The innocent people were exposed to a chemical
nerve agent called Sarin. Sarin causes people to have difficulty breathing because it makes the lungs
heavy and causes blood to slowly fill the lungs. The Syrian President, Bashar al Assad, denies using
any chemical or toxic substance . Syria s close ally, Russia, claims that Syria attacked a terrorist group
s ammunition depot and that is why the chemicals leaked. The American government, on the other
hand, suspects the Syrian government of conducting this attack and have a four page declassified

The U.S has evidence proving that the Syrian government was responsible for the attacks. The author

from Shayrat airbase in Homs province on Tuesday morning and fly over Khan Sheikhoun on two
occasions at 06:37 (03:37 GMT) and 06:46. US military officials told NBC News that the radar
systems picked up flashes on the ground, indicating that ordnance had been dropped on the rebel held
town about the same time that the first casualties with breathing difficulties were reported (Syria).
This quote shows that the Syrian government launched two aircrafts and those aircrafts dropped
something right before reporting of breathing troubles. The breathing trouble reports were right after
the mysterious things were dropped out of the military planes therefore showing that the they probably

Moral Panic
According to Stanley Cohen (1972, pg. 9), moral panics occur when a condition, episode, person or
group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests , and is useful
for explaining the hysteria in Western society towards the pandemic of HIV/AIDS. Sociologists argue
that there was a social construction around it s meaning and the way in which it was perceived caused
by an apparent social anxiety or prejudice against homosexuals and other minority groups. This essay
will attempt to recognise the definition of moral panics and its application to HIV/AIDS and its social
construction.

Simon Watney ([1988] cited in Moral Panics and the Media, 2006, p. 251 252) argues that in the
example of AIDS posed a significant challenge to any moral panic model . He proposed five major
criticisms: firstly, he argues that moral panics place blame on the state as a prime mover in moral
panics. Whilst this may lend itself to be true in the case of the U.K. government, it does not consider
that British society was naturally prejudice against the minority groups inflicted by the virus before its
arrival. Thus, the campaign to warn the public on the virus did not directly influence the public into a
moral panic but was instead a factor. Secondly, a model which separates out individual moral panics
cannot appreciate how they may overlap and reinforce each other . Thirdly, it does not recognise the
significance of dominant discourse. During the 1980s, Britain had already gained a significant
prejudice against these minority groups as mentioned above and thus it may not be useful to describe
the pandemic as a moral panic as the dominant discourse of society at that time was naturally
homophobic and racist. Therefore, it can be argued that HIV/AIDS only heightened the social anxiety
of, for example, gay people, because the anxiety was already in place. The fourth criticism to be made
by Watney (1988) is that the theory does not allow for folk devils resisting the status. Folk devils are

The Song Walk This Way `` By The Rock Band Aerosmith And...
During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits
from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop were
starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an underground
phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of Rock and Roll,
which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this paper, I compare the
differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band Aerosmith and a cover
done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of the 1970s and 1980s which
influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run DMC s progressive crossover cover
of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop,
legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also
known as the Me Decade , was a time of diversifying music. The Beatles had broken up, Jimi Hendrix
and Janis Joplin had died from drug overdose, Led Zeppelin was Britain s most popular group, The
Rolling Stones weren t active, and rock roll was branching out into various popular subgenres such as:
Country Rock, Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Soft Rock, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

Voting Rights For Ex Felons
Voting rights for ex felons It s said to be believed that ex felons never seem to have a change in their
life after being released from prison, but the reality is that many ex felons have a drastic change in
their lives after being released from prison. One major concern though that many ex felons have is that
even if they change for the better many are still not having many of their rights restituted and one
being their voting rights. According to a website called Newsmax more than 2 million African
Americans, or close to 8 percent of black adults, aren t able to vote because of felony convictions
compared to just under 2 percent of non African Americans. (Voting Rights: 6 Reasons Ex Felons
Should Vote, 2015) Having more than 2 million African Americans not vote then causes there to be a
major gap of ethnicities being represented on Election Day and to have many laws that will have a big
impact on them to be voted into place. That s why many ex felons should have their voting rights
restituted because it wouldn t only be African Americans not represented but many poor citizens
would also not be represented on Election Day. This is why I m proposing a solution that would allow
more ex felons to gain their voting rights much faster and with less hassle. This issue of allowing
many ex felons to have their voting rights restituted should be on peoples mind because without their
vote the rich would keep running this country. This issue has been effecting many ex felons that

Sid s Silent Whisperings
There were moments where I would talk normally and gaze at the opals in my hands. Often, a smile
would appear over the damn dirt stains of my face. But at times, a rush of water would overwhelm my
eyes and I would let them flow continuously until I became bloody unconscious. It was a dark foggy
day when I came upon these bright green and blue opals, I mutter as I began reminiscing about the last
thirty years. I stumbled upon the strangest opals that appeared to glow, only realizing that later, it was
no opals, cause no damn opals like that had stared at me before. As the fog started to clear up, the
appearance of a little girl my age stepped towards. Hey, you! I shouted, which didn t seem to be loud
enough to be heard, but still, she stumbled to make her way towards me. I notice how bruised and lost
she must have been and with her opal eyes, she can see that I was too. We walked through the black
darkness of Lightning Ridge for what felt like a bloody eternity, where every second felt like a minute
and every minute felt like a damn hour. The thought of having no place to go made the massive walk
silent and still. There were times when she gaze my way and mutter a question now and then. I would
tell her about my life, wandering to places trying to escape the abusement at home. That why you
bruised up? She asked as her opal eyes beamed at me. Yes, my dad would be damn glad I left, but he

The Qantas dispute involved varying parties. These parties included Qantas employees and their

Representing unions attempted to ensure job security and secure bettered working conditions. The
bargaining process was criticised for taking too long, as AIPA and ALAE negotiations began in August
2010, and then in 2011 TWU had began bargaining . (Brigden, 2012).
As a result of no progress in the negotiations, applications to FWA were made to commence protected
industrial action. Subsequently various forms of action was undertaken by the three employee groups.
The unions engaged in overtime bans and ongoing brief work stoppages, which disrupted Qantas
flights regularly and impacted reportedly on the airline commercially (workplace xpress 2011e) (Todd,
2012).
Industrial action conducted by the Engineers included short stoppages, weekend overtime bans, full
shift stoppages and a stop work meeting. The protected action was intermittent, and on some
occasions was not undertaken when scheduled, also, stoppages were managed in order for Qantas to
continue business. (Sangkuhl, 2011)
Conciliation with FWA had also commenced but no advancements had been made (Brigden, 2012).
TWU also conducted short stoppages, and a stop work meeting, and although it would appear that
these were conducted to minimise disruptions this was inevitable as some stoppages were cancelled,
affecting Qantas business.

The Importance Of The Tower Of Pisa
The Tower of Pisa is a major cite in Italy due to its natural, but not intended, lean. The bell tower
stands at close to one hundred ninety feet tall with one side noticeable being shorter than the other.
The reason for the lean of the tower is due to the soil and weight distribution. The weight of the
building is so heavy and the soil itself was not very stable. (Urban Climatology). The stair case on the
inside of the bell tower is made of marble and took over three hundred years to be completely built.
Marble was a material that was used by ancient Greece that eventually ended up being used by not
only them, but the rest of the world also. Marble is a very smooth, hard substance that is usually a sign
of wealth. (Lezzerini). Important to catch their dynamic response to natural actions in general, and
also to assess the effects due to pedestrian and users, and consequently to define functional capabilities
and levels of acceptable dynamic stress. The studied structure was subject to artificial loading by
synchronous movement of about 20 people. (Piroddi). This is stating that the tower may have been
affected with a lean due to people walking amongst it. Not only can soil and the building itself have an
impact on the buildings overall structure but people walking in it can also dramatically affect it.
Although the tower being on a lean is a fantastic thing to look at, its main purpose was to be a bell
tower for the near by cathedral. As the Tower of Pisa has a lean, it is

Frequent Roofing Problems
Maintaining your roof is one of the most important responsibilities as a
homeowner. The roof protects your home and without a well maintained roof you
could be in serious trouble. Many homeowners often neglect their roofs without
even knowing it; they usually glance at it for a few seconds and move on without
much thought of it. A common problem is that homeowners believe that they can
easily spot an issue on the roof without inspection. That method is not reliable at all,
even the most experienced roofers can miss out on a potential problem on the
rooftop. Hands on experience, training, information, and skills are key to know what

A roof is meant to protect your home
from water damage and other weather elements. There are a variety of reasons as
to why a roof leak occurs. It could be improper installation of the roof, worn down
roofing materials, and storm damage among other things. When the roof is
compromised with a leak, it is urgent to detect the source immediately and have it
quickly repaired or replaced to reduce further damage. As soon as you see a drop hit
the floor from the ceiling, it should be inspected right away.
Another roof problem is storm damage. In Oklahoma, weather is almost
always the number one enemy that attacks your roof. Whether it is tornado, hail, or
wind damage, any weather damage can cause major roofing destruction. Following
any weather events, it is key to have a roofing specialist come out and inspect for
any damage. Even if you do not suspect damage, there is always the possibility of a
hidden problem arising in the future. Most importantly, the window to file an
insurance claim for weather damage is not always open for very long. Thus why
immediate attention to your roof should be first priority after a storm.
Improper repairs are a common enemy your roof often faces. This is one

Downtown Atlanta Georgia
Downtown Atlanta is a beautiful city that attracts visitors from in and out of the state. Atlanta
Downtown is a place where many businesses and jobs are located. This is the most frequent place
people visit in Atlanta. The biggest problem with downtown is not the lack of parking spaces but there
are too many people driving there at once.
Most parking available in downtown cost money and time. Even the parking spaces available are very
limited and not everyone could afford it. The parking decks in downtown belong to some companies.
Most of those companies even make their own employee pay for it. As for the city, they have some
free parking spaces which are limited to the public. Many of those parking spaces in Downtown
Atlanta are usually not free. Atlanta is not the only state in America who does not provide free parking
for their customers, workers, or tourists alike. For instance New York downtown charges for their
parking. They are many parking meters on the sides of the roads where you can park your car for a
limited period of time. Atlanta Downtown has meters on every available space on the streets and at
every corner possible. The meters are step up only on a time limit. People say that the meters need to
be fed before it works. And that is true, if anyone fails to pay the meter than your vehicle can be
towed. That is more money out of your pocket. The street in downtown are usually small because

Purpose Of Genesis
This analysis will serve the purpose of analyzing Genesis chapter one, two, and three as well as
Romans chapters one, two, and three. The author will incorporate various connections between the
chapters read and, will also, make applications on how families, churches, or society can use these
verses in their lives.
Background Information The author would say that the background to the creation story is one of the
easier ones to grasp. Simply because: that is when the world began. I would hope that, as a Christian
in a Christian school, this is not a mind blowing conclusion. According to Alex Varughese (2006), The
book of Genesis is the first book of the Torah or the Pentateuch (pg. 64). The meaning of the book of
Genesis means as it sounds; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christians were set apart until the sin of Adam and Eve. After the sin, Christians no longer had the
easy way out. Christians have to work hard, not only on work, but also in their presentation of
Christianity. The second connection to the sin of Adam and Eve would be the list that is given in
Romans of all the sin that the people of Rome are committing. It is no coincidence that worse and
worse consequences to sin have come about since the fall of man. There is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away they have together become worthless; there is
not one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit, the
poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to
shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is not fear
of God before their eyes (Romans 3:11 18, New International Version). The most prominent
correlation between Genesis and Romans would be that sin is worse than it was at the fall of man and
just as Adam and Eve sinned; man is still sinning. No longer is their simply disobedience; now there is
a list of the sins that man is committing and willingly displaying for anyone to see. Adam and Eve
were trying to hide their sins, the people of Rome are sinning for full

The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation
Suicidal Ideation
Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel
be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to
prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of
their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest
of signs of suicide.
Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety
disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so
overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful
situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering.
People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest
thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing
suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once
loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a
symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal
people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment,
so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders.
The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces
of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental
illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide
are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic
influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia,
and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal
thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself

  • 2. The American Architectural Firm Skidmore Introduction Formed in 1936, the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) is one of the most successful and innovate firms to focus on high end commercial building and lead the paradigm of the use of the modern international, or glass box style of skyscraper. Since its inception, the firm has designed and built several of the world s largest buildings including the John Hancock Center (1969), the Sears Tower (1973) and the Burj Khalifa (2010), currently the world s tallest building. The company has diversified and evolved and now offers services in Architecture, Building Services, Graphics, Digital and Interior Design, Structural and Civil Engineering, and most recently, Sustainable Design and Urban Planning (Adams). For many, in fact, SOM s postwar buildings are the essential building blocks to understand the modern movement in the United States. Biography SOM was founded by Louis Skidmore (1897 1962), Nathaniel Owings (1903 1984), and John Merrill (1896 1975). Merrill was the structural engineer of the group, while Skidmore was the architect, and Owings the visionary. Owings was known as the catalyst, the person in the firm who ironed out differences among clients, contractors and the planning commission (Barron). The strength of the three was that they had the vision to move beyond the standards of their time, to imagine a way to bring beauty and structural integrity to the needs of the modern urban environment, and to understand how to ... Subsequently assembly the Union in 1890s, it turns into the first state to permit women the right to vote in elections, though in 1887, Kansas permitted women to vote in elections. The colonies embrace the English system of property ownership for married women, implication women cannot own assets in their own name or keep a type of profit. By early 1900s, all states will have accepted legislation sculpted after New York s Married Women s Property Act (1848), which grants married women the right to keep their own earnings and to own land in their own term. Variances over the 13 15th Amendments and the connection between women s suffrage and the measure for racial equality split the women s rights movement between two organizations: The National Woman Suffrage Association and The American Woman Suffrage Association. The adversaries will unite in 1890 to system the National American Women s Suffrage Association. Women from both parties knew that in order to stay strong and win rights, is to combine and hold hands with each other the whole process without fighting. The Territory of Wyoming passes the first law in the country granting women over age 21 the right to vote. Later joining the Union in 1890, Wyoming becomes the first state to let women the right to vote in all polls, yet in 1887, Kansas let women to vote in municipal elections. Women knew every step to success in their goals is to have a domino effect. One state will start off and every other state will end up granting equal rights to both genders, therefore more support from more women from different states means support overall. A federal law that let female federal workers equal pay and equal work is passed. It even extends to the limit of verifying whether or not a practice should be recognized by the government and general population solely because of certain precepts that exist within the religion s infrastructure. Creating a great divide between those who follow religions which are respected by the community and those who follow religions eschewed by the same community. Such model holds true for the sects: Regla de Ocha and Regla de Palo. The meticulous and strategically thrown cowrie shells give serve as a message every time they land on the surface, just as we use Morse code to communicate, the orichas use cowrie shells to share a message to us humans. Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and possessive than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many laypeople) choose to not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to backfire on those who are followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A relationship with a spirit in Rela de Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize the two parties. The spirit or muerto is trapped in either a bottle or nganga and works for the person who wields the object of entrapment. The main way a palero (priest) of Regla de Ocha establishes a relationship with a spirit is through the collection of the bones of a passed priestess or priest. The process of obtaining bones from a person not directly related to you is illegal in Cuba; however, exhumed skeletons which are claimed in time are generally sold to paleros in search of new muertos to help them prosper. • 5. Robin Williams Case Study Case Study Robin Williams will go down in history as one of America s favorite stand up comedians and actors. Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and showcased Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will Hunting, showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were devastated when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how America s favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole world wondering who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras weren t rolling. Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the beginning of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans, 2016) In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard School of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a Hollywood actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before graduating and moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian. It was here that he began to be successful, but unfortunately, along with that success came his involvement with drugs and alcohol. Williams once explained in an interview that he used cocaine because it had a reverse effect on him and made him talk less. (Lincoln, 2015) Robin Williams was successful in his endeavors to be discovered on stage. His career began to take off as he started getting small acting roles in shows like Happy Days, which lead to his own spinoff show Mork and Mindy. Author Brian Morris says, Despite ... • 6. Impact Of Labor Force In The 21st Century There is a great change going on in employment trend and labor force in the U.S. in 21st century because of aging, diversity immigrants and few other factors and it s a dramatic change, from 1950 to 2050. This massive demographic change has an impact on the number of people working or people looking for work. In the beginning of 21st century the demand for labor force has increased which is one of the main source for growth and economic progress. Growth rate in population and labor force has changed the trend in employment today compare to 1950. Today more older people are working, its more diversified and more women are involved at workplace. There are going to be significant changes in coming years compare to past 50 years. For example, labor growth rate will be less than what we had in past 50 years. As per the Mitra Toossi s article A century of change: the U.S. labor force, 1950 2015 , The high growth rate of civilian labor force in the past 50 years will be replaced by much lower growth rates in the next 50 years . The main reason to this slowdown in growth of the labor force is high tech innovation which is reducing the demand of traditional labor force. Another demographic change in the employment trend is the change in gender structure. We have seen more number of women at workplace compare past 50 years and their number at work place are increasing very fast. This change came because of equal rights to women at workplace plus they are more involved with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The map is drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling the locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The text box overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the reader that this impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we have only seen it as misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the very next panel, we see an image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his family is to stray from their small town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is somewhat suffocating, especially as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath (Bechdel 130). This link between Mr. Toad and Bruce Bechdel is significant in that Wind in the Willows map that follows because of the connection it renders. New meaning is found in the map as Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of the children s novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to him, speeding towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her father s existence as he too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on a highway that summer, the same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact of this event clearly has an influenced the way Alison processed the information. Enlisted Distribution And Assignment System Essay Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System The Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System (EDAS) is a great system with minimal hardware and software requirements. The system is simple and effective at what it does. Competition is scarce and there are very few things that should be changed involving the technical aspects of the system. The more than 100,000 assignments that are processed through EDAS annually are vital to the versatility of the Soldiers in the greatest Army the world has ever known. Server Side Hardware Requirements There is a shift that has been occurring in recent years to move away from server hardware to cloud computing. As Gallaugher stated, it is evident in IBM s quarterly numbers (pg 217). The company saw an increase in earnings with a larger decrease in hardware sales. Though this may be true, there are many services that undoubtedly require the use of mainframe hardware produced by companies such as IBM. The only available information about the EDAS Server Side Hardware is that it runs on the USAHRC Data Center Mainframe (Human Resources Command, 2016). I imagine that this data center is something like the data center represented by SAP. There is certainly a server room. This room contains some sort of primary and secondary cooling. The room also contains a power source and in case that source fails, likely a battery backup to hold interim power while the generators kick on. All of this would be necessary to maintain operational readiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tsar Nicholas 1 Research Paper I stand here today to inform you of my motives and rationale that pushed me to become the leader that I am today after Tsar Nicholas the second abdicated, giving Russia the chance to start fresh. I was elated by the news of the abdication of Tsar Nicholas. I strongly believe this is the best thing for Russia and I would not have had it any other way. I have been questioning his methods of ruling for years now, ever since he stripped my family of my beloved brother. I had idolized my brother and was inspired to follow his footsteps in a fight for change when the Tsar s okhrana brutality took him from me on May the 8th, 1887. I believed the Tsar Nicholas s ruling methods to be outdated and his use of brutality and ignorance to be the cause of the minorities depression within this mislead country. The motivation my brother s death brought to me pushed me to investigate further into politics. Here I found more unjust laws the Tsar stood by and I decided to work hard enough to make a change. ... • 10. Theme Of Tragedy In A Streetcar Named Desire Tennessee Williams play, A Streetcar Named Desire, written in 1947 evoked a montage of critical commentaries and reviews about where it stands in terms of its genre. This was due to its intense concentration on realism and the exclusion of any definite protagonists and antagonists. Many assume the play is a tragedy. There is a copious amount of evidence to support this assumption. However, the ambiguity embodied by the play and the melodramatic devices used by Williams, contradicts the classification of the play as a tragedy entirely. Others have defined it as a melodrama with conventions of tragedy included. This is a contentious topic. The answer lies in the interpretation of the characters and the context. In order to explain these interpretations, one must define the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Scene 10, Blanche is at her lowest point in the play when she is raped by Stanley. He shatters her built up illusions and pretensions, uncovering her multitude of lies. She is forced to face the true threat that Stanley poses to her, as he says Not once did you pull any wool over this boy s eyes (p.158) acknowledging her many delusions and how he has broken them. One of Aristotle s characteristics of tragedy is the idea of Anagnorisis; the reversal of fate brought by the hero s own actions, their hamartia, leading to a fate greater than that deserved. In most cases, the tragic hero s fate is death, this is not the case in Streetcar. In modern tragedies, there is an accusation made against a mundane world of ordinary people in which the only escape is through self delusion, alcohol, sex and madness. This play, becomes an ultimate example of this as Blanche s entire existence is shattered, and the other characters merely resume their lives. The play is built around this tragic indifference, emphasised by the detached ending; This game is seven card stud (p.179), and they return to their poker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all the time, while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other people who move from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual effort. In the Diamond Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born poor and was not happy with her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she tried for all occasion to appear as rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different ways why Mathilde should recognize and accept her social class and live in the level of her class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her class because happiness does not depend on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her social class to avoid the deterioration of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually capacity. People are not respected because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is determinant in how people will respect him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was neither caste nor rank, for beauty, grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant). The regions in the Civil War of 1860 that took place in 1860 1864 were the North and the South. They had different beliefs that eventually sent them into war. The 3 main causes of this civil war were: states rights, economy, and most importantly, slavery. The first of the three main causes is states rights. The south believed they had the right to take their slaves to the new states being admitted into the Union. Also from the article 1828 Tariff of Abominations Alchin says The South, who had once favored Henry Clay s Tariff 1816 and his American System which financed the construction of new roads into the west, now opposed both. To explain, The south were originally for the Tariff and American System but now did not like either since they help them and only hurt them (Alchin). The concept of sustainable development was introduced by the publication of the Brundland report having a basis of meeting the needs of the current situation while considering the upcoming generations in meeting their needs too (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987). While the concept is true, achievement of the sustainable development has no clear and definite route (Becker, Jahn, Stiess, Wehling, 1997; Walker Kubisch, 2008). Challenges in the society entail those in the production and those in the consumption (Beck, 1986). It is therefore prudent to use a variety of evaluation that includes systems evaluation and developmental evaluation (Imam, LaGoy Williams 2007; Patton, 2008). Challenges linked to sustainable development needs knowledge development and a clear link between science and society (Funtowicz Ravetz, 1993; Gibbons et al., 1994; Jasanoff, 2004; Nowotny, Scott, Gibbons, 2001). Management of project sustainability requires continuous improvement of ways and update of tools of governance (Voss, Bauknecht, Kemp, 2006; Hajer, 2003; Loorbach, 2007; Rotmans, Kemp, Asselt, 2001). • 14. Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire Practice Essay: Emilia Kelly The two texts of Enduring Love and A Streetcar named Desire show privilege of one way of perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Ian McEwan s Enduring Love, shows favour of Joe s scientific and rational view but also demonstrates that it is flawed. Similarly, Tennessee Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion. Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships that still result in unfavourable outcomes. It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the negative influence of sunlight. Analysis: In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four groups of data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant difference towards red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA). Wilfred Owen and Jane Weir are angry and frustrated about what has happened during and after the war. Questions are a most common feature of both poems, they are designed to make the reader think. Both writers make use of literary techniques to draw attention to especially important parts of the poems. Even though they displayed suffering in similar ways they still used their own ideas and approaches; Owen writes from the point of view of someone who was involved in the war. Weir writes about mainly one soldier affected by the war. Owen had joined the army in 1915 yet was hospitalized in May 1917 experiencing shell shock. • 25. The Importance Of Self-Regulation In Young Children The importance of self regulation in young children should be a common topic in the world of teaching. The idea of self regulation is a simple one, self regulation is a mechanism enabling to control one s impulses and, doing something that is needed (Aras, 2015). Without self regulation, students can hardly progress to higher levels of understanding. In Selda Aras article Promoting Self Regulations in the Early Years: Tolls of the Mind she explains that without the right set of skills students will have difficulty learning in a classroom setting (2015). When a student enters school they are not there just for academic purposes, they are there to learn how to interact socially and emotionally as well. If those topics are not addressed early on in a child s life normal things can become difficult. Aras uses Lev Vygotsky and the Tools of the Mind program to explain how best to implement self regulation in students. This gives the impression that she believes all children should be in a Tools of the Mind program and that might be the author s preference she does give several ideas as to further children s self regulation skills. These ideas can be used in the average classroom, daycare or home, they are simple changes to ideas already in place that can help children to develop better social and emotional understanding. These ideas included focusing on the students rather than the lesson plan, having the students help make the classroom rules, putting students in situations that they have to understand what they have done. Implementing self regulation does not have to be difficult it can be little things that help students understand themselves and their classmates. Another concept Aras found important was the myths that surround self regulation and how they can adversely affect students and teachers. As a future teacher, it is vital for me to know and understand these myths. Many of the myths I never thought as harmful to learners, such as the idea that we need to wait for children to grow into their maturity before they are taught more regulatory skills. Children can start developing the skills necessary to self regulate before they fully understand the need for it. Or that some people have the idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Simon Watney ([1988] cited in Moral Panics and the Media, 2006, p. 251 252) argues that in the example of AIDS posed a significant challenge to any moral panic model . He proposed five major criticisms: firstly, he argues that moral panics place blame on the state as a prime mover in moral panics. Whilst this may lend itself to be true in the case of the U.K. government, it does not consider that British society was naturally prejudice against the minority groups inflicted by the virus before its arrival. Thus, the campaign to warn the public on the virus did not directly influence the public into a moral panic but was instead a factor. Secondly, a model which separates out individual moral panics cannot appreciate how they may overlap and reinforce each other . Thirdly, it does not recognise the significance of dominant discourse. During the 1980s, Britain had already gained a significant prejudice against these minority groups as mentioned above and thus it may not be useful to describe the pandemic as a moral panic as the dominant discourse of society at that time was naturally homophobic and racist. Therefore, it can be argued that HIV/AIDS only heightened the social anxiety of, for example, gay people, because the anxiety was already in place. During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop were starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an underground phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of Rock and Roll, which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this paper, I compare the differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band Aerosmith and a cover done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of the 1970s and 1980s which influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run DMC s progressive crossover cover of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop, legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also known as the Me Decade , was a time of diversifying music. • 34. The Importance Of The Tower Of Pisa The Tower of Pisa is a major cite in Italy due to its natural, but not intended, lean. The bell tower stands at close to one hundred ninety feet tall with one side noticeable being shorter than the other. The reason for the lean of the tower is due to the soil and weight distribution. The weight of the building is so heavy and the soil itself was not very stable. (Urban Climatology). The stair case on the inside of the bell tower is made of marble and took over three hundred years to be completely built. Marble was a material that was used by ancient Greece that eventually ended up being used by not only them, but the rest of the world also. Marble is a very smooth, hard substance that is usually a sign of wealth. (Lezzerini). Important to catch their dynamic response to natural actions in general, and also to assess the effects due to pedestrian and users, and consequently to define functional capabilities and levels of acceptable dynamic stress. The studied structure was subject to artificial loading by synchronous movement of about 20 people. (Piroddi). This is stating that the tower may have been affected with a lean due to people walking amongst it. Not only can soil and the building itself have an impact on the buildings overall structure but people walking in it can also dramatically affect it. Although the tower being on a lean is a fantastic thing to look at, its main purpose was to be a bell tower for the near by cathedral. As the Tower of Pisa has a lean, it is ... • 37. Downtown Atlanta Georgia Downtown Atlanta is a beautiful city that attracts visitors from in and out of the state. Atlanta Downtown is a place where many businesses and jobs are located. This is the most frequent place people visit in Atlanta. The biggest problem with downtown is not the lack of parking spaces but there are too many people driving there at once. Most parking available in downtown cost money and time. Even the parking spaces available are very limited and not everyone could afford it. The parking decks in downtown belong to some companies. Most of those companies even make their own employee pay for it. As for the city, they have some free parking spaces which are limited to the public. Many of those parking spaces in Downtown Atlanta are usually not free. Atlanta is not the only state in America who does not provide free parking for their customers, workers, or tourists alike. • 38. Purpose Of Genesis This analysis will serve the purpose of analyzing Genesis chapter one, two, and three as well as Romans chapters one, two, and three. The author will incorporate various connections between the chapters read and, will also, make applications on how families, churches, or society can use these verses in their lives. Background Information The author would say that the background to the creation story is one of the easier ones to grasp. Simply because: that is when the world began. I would hope that, as a Christian in a Christian school, this is not a mind blowing conclusion. According to Alex Varughese (2006), The book of Genesis is the first book of the Torah or the Pentateuch (pg. 64). The meaning of the book of Genesis means as it sounds; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christians were set apart until the sin of Adam and Eve. After the sin, Christians no longer had the easy way out. Christians have to work hard, not only on work, but also in their presentation of Christianity. The second connection to the sin of Adam and Eve would be the list that is given in Romans of all the sin that the people of Rome are committing. It is no coincidence that worse and worse consequences to sin have come about since the fall of man. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away they have together become worthless; there is not one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit, the poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is not fear of God before their eyes (Romans 3:11 18, New International Version). The most prominent correlation between Genesis and Romans would be that sin is worse than it was at the fall of man and just as Adam and Eve sinned; man is still sinning. No longer is their simply disobedience; now there is a list of the sins that man is committing and willingly displaying for anyone to see. Adam and Eve were trying to hide their sins, the people of Rome are sinning for full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation Suicidal Ideation Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest of signs of suicide. Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering. People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment, so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders. The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia, and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself and others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
