Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century
Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s
superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money and
power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that
Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized
and no longer backward. European Imperialism is not only about the takeover of territories for benefit
or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized countries
was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but also ideas,
culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has shaped the world
today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has encouraged racism,
sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others. Imperialism from 1850 until
the present was a bit different than in previous years. This imperialism was driven more by cultural
desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans believed that by colonizing and forcing
cultural practices and religion on a country that was considered inferior, they were helping them and
thereby doing God s will. One idea that came about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In
his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight

Rhetorical Analysis Of Child Labour By Florence Kelley
Child Labor Rhetorical Essay Florence Kelley was a social worker who lived at the end of the 19th
century and the beginning of the 20th. In a speech to the National American Woman Suffrage
Association, she stresses the importance of changing child labor laws by appealing to her audience s
emotions and ethics. She goes into detail describing the time of day and the type of work they are
doing to emphasize her argument. The speech has a sense of urgency and is a clear call to action
which form the tone of the piece. Florence Kelley uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to argue for
labor law reforms. Kelley uses a passionate tone throughout her speech. Her use of exclamation points
conveys this. In the fifth paragraph she says, In Georgia there is no restriction whatever! in reference
to children working in factories all night long. This exclamation also helps the audience to understand
the way she feels about the issue and maybe how their point view should be shifting. Near the end of
the speech she says, For the sake of the children, for the Republic in which these children will vote
after we are dead, and for the sake of our cause, we should enlist the workingmen voters, with us, in
this task of freeing the children from toil! Here she passionately argues the importance of ... Show

She also makes the audience feel bad by describing how hard the children work while they (the
audience) sleep. She says, Tonight while we sleep, several thousand little girls will be working in
textile mills, all the night through, in the deafening noise of the spindles and the looms spinning and
weaving cotton and wool, silks and ribbons for us to buy. this stark imagery invokes the plight of these
children in an attempt to get the audience to see the consequences and dangers the children face and to
get the audience to see Kelley s side of the

Rise Of The Anti Hero
Rise of the Anti Hero Through Cable and Subscription TV From Tony Soprano to Walter White to
Don Draper the anti hero seems to have replaced the classic hero on TV as a result of 3 following
major influences. Over the past few decades, due to events of the world such as wars, attacks, natural
disaster instilled a mistrust in establishments such as government and journalism, which is then
reflected in the popular culture with the stories told on TV. The second major influence is the shift in
FCC regulations for cable and subscription content that has had a major effect on the types stories that
can be told in these two mediums. And third influence is the networks breaking free from advertising
pressure; subscription TV has changed the landscape of TV, clearing the path for stories that are not
influenced by rating and advertising, and valuing the story itself. The first and foremost factor that
enabled creators to write and audiences to consume stories about anti heroes goes hand in hand with
society s severe mistrust in establishments. TV has had a major role in how events unfolded in late
20th and early 21st century, making it possible to bring the news into our living rooms. The rise of the
anti hero is a product of a series of chain events that started with many atrocities that our society had
to endure, followed by society s realization of how flawed our government and news reporting was,
eventually leaving the the people of this country (and of the world) with a darker

Lincoln Electrics Essay
1. Should Lincoln Electric expand into India by investing in a major production facility there?
I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its
growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner in
order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy, labor,
culture and so on.
LE is known for its high quality products and its technical innovations. On its 60 years of international
experience, the company gained valuable knowledge on what to do and what to avoid when moving
abroad, and that is why they refocused their expansion strategy into joint ventures, instead of
acquisitions avoiding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That could jeopardize LE position of finding a partner in India, because the company would be
exposed to share some of its secrets with them, and as the case states, they wouldn t mind coping it in
the future. Another difficulty the company will face is the two main competitors that are already doing
business in India, Ador welding Ltd and ESAD India.
Finally, we have to wonder how the Liability of Foreigners would affect the company. Even though
we do not have any direct reference on the culture and political situation, we can assume that they are
a lot different to what the company is used in its own country. Therefore, and even though the
recommendation is to enter India finding a partner that can help them understanding the culture,
distribution channels and help them dealing with the Indian bureaucracy, the LOF variables should be
taking into account to help the company minimize the failure risk of succeeding in India.
2. Irrespective of your answer to the first question, suppose Lincoln Electric does expand into the
Indian market by investing in a production facility: Should they enter through acquisition, Greenfield,
or joint venture? What factors inform your decision among these entry modes?
Analyzing the pros and cons of each entry mode, I would say that a Joint Venture(JV) is the best
option for LE to enter the country. On the one hand, local partners can help LE to reduce the LOF. The

Technical Workstream Leader Essay
The Roll of a Technical Workstream Lead I have served our Country in the armed forces for more than
a dozen years and when I hear the term technical workstream leader, a Warrant Officer is the first
though that comes to my mind. The army warrant officer definition is a self aware and adaptive
technical expert, combat leader, trainer, and advisor (U.S. Army Human Resource Command, 2004).
The roll of the warrant officer in the military is being a technical expert, well versed in new
technologies, and able to integrate them in support military operations. Warrant officers are technical
workstream leaders and, for the last two years, I have been a warrant officer in the US Army. The roll
of technical workstream leaders is to close the gap between management and production by providing
technical advice, training, and integrate new technologies. Although the skills and characteristics of a
technical workstream leader may change from job to job, there are some that remain the same. A

Invention is the result of a long study, research, and experimentation (Innovation, n.d.); Innovation is
the discovery and the execution of pioneering ideas that create value (Greco, 2011), in other words,
new application of known concepts. A practical example of invention is the alkaline battery that
provided a light weight, small, and portable power source; innovation applied this concept to anything
possible from communication devises, mecanich and construction tools, and even toys. Technical
workstream leaders understand that innovators are today s competitors reducing times, and
maximazing profits with new techniques; but inventors have the potential to reshape the landscape of

The Eiffel Tower, Architecture, And Scenic View
Nearly seven million people visit the Eiffel Tower a year and I was lucky enough to be one of them.
The Eiffel Tower has many things to offer including an abundant amount of history, two restaurants
and a beautiful scenic view. I am going to evaluate the history , the two different restaurants, and the
scenic view. There is a vast amount of history behind the Eiffel Tower. Here are a few things I thought
were interesting. The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel. It was built for the 1889 exposition
universal to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the french revolution. The construction of the Eiffel
Tower took 2 years, 2 months and 5 days. When it was constructed, it was the defining moment of the
industrial era. The Eiffel Tower was only intended to last 20 years, but it has lasted 126 years!
According to the world, the Eiffel Tower is France s symbol. When you see the Eiffel Tower, most
people think Paris or France. The Eiffel Tower stands 1062 feet tall and has 3 floors. It has 7 million
visitors annually and 75 percent of them are foreigners. It also has 20,000 light bulbs to light it up.
The lighting started in 1985 and at night it lights for 5 minutes every hour, on the hour. On the top of
the Eiffel Tower, are 120 antennas, at one point in time it was used by the military to send messages
around Paris. You can tour the Eiffel Tower from 9:30 in the morning to 11 at night. An elevator or lift
ticket to the second floor costs 9.58 for anyone 12 to 24 years old

Case Study On Brand Equity
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction to Internship:
Brand Equity is the added value endowed by the brand to the Product. Although the idea of using a
name or a symbol to enhance a product s value has been known to marketers for a long time, brand
equity has gained renewed interest in recent years. Brand managers realize that after years of look
alike advertising and over copying with me too brands, they now live in a world of product parity. The
ensuing price competition through short term price promotions reduces the profitability of brands
leading manufactures to examine ways to enhance loyalty toward their brands. In addition, facing with

Hypothesis For The Egg In Cranberry Juice
In biology class, we wondered what evidence we could gather through shell less eggs so we could
show osmosis and diffusion through the egg inner membranes. My hypothesis for the egg in cranberry
juice was that the color would change to red. My hypothesis for the egg in La Croix would be that the
texture would become rougher and it would become smaller. My hypothesis for the egg in syrup was
that the color would become brown and the egg would become larger. I believe with the knowledge I
had at the time, that my hypotheses were not convincing because I did not explain why I thought the
eggs were going to change, I just stated it. In a controlled experiment, the independent variable is the
only variable that can be adjusted, while the dependent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We put our egg into syrup because we wanted to see if the color would change to brown and if the size
would change. The egg started out as whitish or light orange and changed to brown with bits of white.
It changed color because the syrup was trying to diffuse into the egg. However, because the egg had
bits of white, the color only stained the membrane. This means that the diffusion did not fully occur.
The egg initially weighed 88.3g but after the experiment, it had decreased to 48.39g. I believe this
happened because the egg was hypertonic, and so the size decreased. The texture of the egg started out
as squishy and slightly chalky and ended as being deflated and having a smooth membrane. The
texture most likely changed because the texture of the syrup diffused into it and changed it. The egg
deflated most likely because the egg was hypertonic. These changes show that the egg membrane is
selectively permeable because it let the egg albumen out of the egg, but the syrup was only able to
color the egg and not diffuse into the egg completely. I believe that passive transport happened, but
precisely diffusion. If I could do the lab just on these changes, I would keep the egg in the syrup for
longer until it stopped deflating and then find out

The Rise Of The Fishing Industry
Before the rise of the fishing industry in the 1950 s Newfoundland and Labrador struggled with an
unstable economy and many citizens found themselves living in poverty. Initially on shore methods
had minimal impact on the environment and fish population, as in shore fishermen followed a strict
season and fished only during the summer leaving the population to migrate in the fall. As technology
advanced steam boats made off shore fishing possible, this allowed draggers to fish in massive
quantities regardless of the season. At first this was very promising to the Canadian government and
the Fishery Products International Company (FPI) as they saw huge profits, and the opportunity to
create jobs for fisherman and factory workers alike. However, with continued offshore fishing the
inshore fisherman saw significant depletion in the fish population, specifically cod. It took far too long
for the government to realize the severity of the issue and when they did it was too late. In 1992 the
government announced a complete ban of cod fishing. This resulted in the loss of 19000 jobs, and all
profit coming from this industry throwing many small fishing towns in Newfoundland back into
poverty.
All stakeholders felt the effects of the ban; the External Stakeholders FPI explains why they supplied
the boats to major corporations and over exaggerated the cod population and Internal Stakeholders
consisted of the independent fishermen and their families and how they were affected. Factory

The Creation Of The World
Creation stories are obviously stories about the creation of the world. They, just like us, vary in their
origins and how they are structured. Each contains the tale of how that certain culture or religion
views the beginning of everything, ranging from the animals to the world itself. Creators came in the
form of gods or other super human beings and they handled each world differently. These stories each
gave us an idea of how the world we are living in was made, and some even tells us about how we
were made.
The creation stories I have chosen originate in China, the Christian religion, and finally, a Norse
creation story. They all include some big, super human creator, though they handle the story a bit
differently than each other. No matter what though, they still are connected in the fact that they talk
about the creation of the world, and that connection is eternal. Creation stories have given each person
a view of what happened way before their own time and it sticks with people as they go through time.
Each story can reflect how that religion or culture worked and it is quite interesting. These stories help
bind many people together, and even the most different of people can find similarities between each
other and come together using these stories.
We shall start off with the Chinese view of the creation of the world. Their story begins with the
heavens and Earth being one and everything being in chaos. A man named Pan Gu was being carried
in a big black egg, which

Guilt And Appreciation In Those Winter Sundays By Robert...
Something so simple as thanking someone for holding the door open or smiling at passerby s can
make a big difference in someone s day. So, it is even more important to treat loved ones with respect
and to show them appreciation, as it means much more than a simple smile from a stranger. Guilt is a
very difficult thing to live with. It is better to be courteous of others and thoughtful than to deal with
the dreadful guilt. The themes of guilt and appreciation are shown in the poem, Those Winter Sundays
by Robert Hayden. To appreciate and respect a loved one shows them how truly special they are, and
lets them know that they are noticed and their actions are not taken for granted. Everyone deserves to
know that they are loved and appreciated.

The Effects Of Maternal Behavior On Mother Rats Essay
Two scholarly articles compared the different effects maternal behavior can have on mother rats later
on in their lifetime. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward one s
young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two different
experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioning approach. Classical condition was first
discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a response is elicited
by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied rats with varying degrees
of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested in both articles. Overall, there
are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In rats, each cycle lasts about four
to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016).
Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis.
In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the
Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a
lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given birth
to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care of their
young or lactating. For this experiment, the independent variable was stress and maternal experience.

Effects of the BP Oil Spill
Four years ago from today, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sunk, killing eleven people.
Underwater cameras showed that the pipe was leaking oil and gas about 40 miles from the coast of
Louisiana. This leak would eventually release about 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf before it
would be capped 87 days later. Immediately after the explosion, workers from Transocean, BP, and the
government attempted to control the spread of oil to the coast by using oil booms and chemical
dispersants to break down underwater oil. However, these methods had problems. First, oil booms
only stop the spread of surface oil. While that sounds good, lots of the oil was beneath the surface and
the booms did nothing to stop the spread of this oil. Second, the chemical dispersants used to break
down the underwater oil could be just as harmful to marine life as the oil was. Over 1.84 million
gallons of Corexit dispersant were used in the Gulf. Use of the dispersant was described as the most
effective and fast moving tool for minimizing shoreline impact . Despite these claims, an analysis
conducted by Toxipedia showed that the dispersant could contain cancer causing agents, hazardous
toxins and endocrine disrupting chemicals. Scientists were concerned that the dispersants made a spill
even more toxic, increasing the danger to wildlife. The dangers are even greater when poured into the
source of a spill, because they are picked up by the current and washed through the Gulf. The oil

West Nile Case Study Essay
This case study I debated between a couple of different diseases but ultimately decided to chose the
topic of West Nile for the fact that we have seen this disease in our community and I want to learn

topics in this case study including, the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, the

Each year when the summer months approach we start to think about protecting ourselves from
mosquitos. One of the main reasons to protect ourselves is to avoid the spread of West Nile. We hear

am sure they carried a lot of bad viruses. I also found it to be fascinating to write a case study on a

Abstract This paper presents unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) which is an integration of
shunt and series Active Power Filters and aims to compensate for voltage sag, voltage and current
unbalance and other power quality problems [1],[5],[6]. The UPQC helps to improve power quality at
the point of installation on power distribution system or industrial power system. This paper deals
with design of UPQC by considering a controller based on PQ theory. Reference signal generation for
shunt active filter is done by using PQ theory while for series dual PQ theory is used [2], [3].
Reference signals are then applied to pulse generators. Pulse generation is carried out by using
hysteresis band controller for each filter. The validation of proposed scheme is carried out by using
Matlab/Simulink.
Index Terms Unified Power Quality Conditioner, Active Power Filter, hysteresis control, voltage and
current unbalance.

William the Conqueror also known as William I was born in 1027 in Normandy, France and was the

Government response to threat of sharks
The West Australian Government has ruled out a return to drum lines off beaches following a shark
attack at Mandurah, but will continue to hunt and trap sharks it believes are a threat to swimmers.
When we introduced that policy, the rest of Australia and national media was aghast that we might

The policy did not prove effective in catching great whites and the great white shark was principally
the problem, he said.

It will also prevent the Federal Environment Minister from granting any future exemptions to the Act

Effects Of Mung Bean Starch On Rice Noodles Quality
Criticizing Effects of Mung Bean Starch on Rice Noodles Quality
In Effect of mung bean starch on quality of rice noodles made by direct dry flour extrusion Wu, Meng,
Yang et al. (2015) focus on developing a better understanding of the influences of mung bean starch
(MS) on the physiochemical properties of rice flour (RF) and quality of rice noodles produced by the
direct dry flour extrusion; as well as test possible corporation of rice flour (RF) and MS fractions into
rice noodles to improve its quality. First of all, Wu et al. analyzed the substituted rice flour samples.
The rice flour samples were prepared in four difference MS substitutions, 0%, 2%, 5% and 8% for
experimentations. With increase MS content in the mixture, the results showed increase in amylose
content, rate of retrogradation, pasting stability, and strength of the gel, but decline in swelling power
and solubility. The authors pointed out corporation of MS and RF significantly influenced the
physicochemical properties of rice noodle mixture, which desirable for rice noodle making. This
phenomenon results rice noodles were positively affected by these changes as well, including
decreased cooking time, loss rate and broken rate. Also, based on the texture properties and sensory
evaluation, elevating MS content contributed to better texture and overall acceptance of rice noodles,
but authors also point out, after 5% MS substitution, the rate of quality improvements were decreased.

Methods of Enhanced Oil Recovery Essay example
Introduction With almost 200 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil reserves located in the
United States alone, it is not surprising why so many companies are adopting enhanced oil recovery
techniques in everyday operations ( Total energy , 2012). Oil production can be broken down into
three main components: primary, secondary, and tertiary recovery. Primary recovery is when the well
is first drilled and the natural pore pressure of the rock squeezes hydrocarbons out of the pore space.
During this time the hydrocarbons are put under immense pressure and the majority of the liquids and
gases will flow to the top. Secondary recovery is when water and gas injection are used to transfer the
oil from the reservoir to the surface. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cyclic Steam Stimulation An example of thermal recovery is cyclic steam stimulation which is a
method of increasing oil production by going through multiple steam cycles. First a steam generator
heats water to produce steam so that the injection wells can heat the surrounding formation. Then the
well is shut in and the heat is given time to diffuse into the oil, which reduces the viscosity of oil.
Soon afterwards, the well returns to production and the initial oil rate is higher due to the increase in
reservoir pressure. Once the heat has dissipated far into the formation, the oil saturation may drop
because the porosity no longer has an external force holding the space between the grains open. After
the initial cycle has been completed the cycle can be three to four times before production gains
become insignificant. Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is
also a type of thermal recovery which injects steam into horizontal wells for heavy oil reservoir
production and tar sand production. (Steam assisted, 2013). SAGD begins by drilling two parallel
horizontal wells about four to six meters apart. The upper well will have steam injected into it while
the bottom well is used to collect the heavy oils, such as Bitumen. As the steam spreads throughout the
formation in all directions, any gases, such as CH4, CO2 and H2S, will ascend to the top of the

Analysis on the Shift of Business Strategy for Ge Into the...
Question 1: In what ways has Jeff Immelt redirected the strategy of GE?
In 2001, shortly after Jeff Immelt became the CEO of GE, a series of events changed and impacted the
corporate landscape. The immediate challenges that he faced included 9/11, and a subsequent series of
high profile corporate scandals (Enron, WorldCom). In 2008, the financial crisis hit and had a severe
impact on GE s primary growth source, GE Capital causing it to accumulate bad debts and asset write
downs. These events caused slow domestic economic growth, crisis of confidence among investors
and more global competitors.
Due to the change in environment and the need to adapt Immelt shifted the focus of GE from cost

At the heart of Immelt s growth strategy for General Electric s was the development of new Growth
Platforms, which could be either extensions of the existing businesses or entire new commercial areas.
Even though Immelts core focus was on organic growth, repositioning to take advantage of the
emerging market trends and opportunities would require acquisition. Then once a new Growth
Platform was identified, GE would build a leading position in those sectors through small strategic
acquisitions and the deployment of its financial, technical and managerial resources.
GE was entering a new generational era, one where technology is at the forefront of growth and
adaptation. Immelt identified Technology as one of GE s major drivers for future growth which was
signaled by his expansion of GE s R D budgets. He shifted the importance of Technology within GE
by focusing on the R D projects that offered large scale market potential, reffered to as Imagination

Within this new business environment that GE was facing, customers needs, wants and expectations of
what products can offer them is forever changing. Immelt saw and understood this from the amount of
time spent with customers, and implemented this idea within GE through the IT

Medieval European Feudalism
Medieval Europe, which lasted from about 500 1300 CE, originally was filled with Germanic
invasions and threats from groups such as the Islamic Caliphate, the Magyars, and the Vikings. The
constant instability from these external threats eventually demanded for a new system of government,
which for Europe was feudalism. This system of government would last for centuries, until the
eventual rise of towns and trade around Europe began the downfall of feudalism. Japan, although
geographically independent of Europe, developed a similar system in around 1300 CE, which lasted
until around 1600. After any strong central power fell off, warring clans needed to bolster their
military prowess, so military leaders began to hire samurai to fight the opposition. ... Show more

In Europe, monarchs would distribute their land to lords, in return for military service and protection.
These lords would distribute the land even further by giving fiefs to lesser lords, known as vassals.
Like Europe, in Japan, the shogun would give land to the shugo, later known as the daimyō, who
would then give land to the samurai. However, unlike Europe, these were not formal contracts made
between the two parties. The agreements would be based purely on honor and moral obligations. In
Europe, feudal agreements were all legal agreements, and contracts were made to enforce this. The
role of the monarch or emperor in both societies played a very similar role; both the monarch in
Europe and the emperor in Japan were largely figureheads and held no real power, leading to lack of
central authority in the two states. The Catholic Church, with influence across the continent, took on
the role of a central power in Europe, stronger than any individual or group at the time. For example,
when Pope Gregory VII had a dispute with King Henry VI of England, the Pope excommunicated the
king, freeing his subjects from allegiance to him, which was soon followed by revolts. These two
systems may have had their overlap in feudal structure, but the use of moral contracts in Japan would
allow samurai to be free from loyalty to their

Why Winter Driving Is Bad
As all long time residents know, Michigan winters can be brutal. However, even during a normal
winter, you can expect average temperatures that are below freezing for three months out of the year
and snowfall totals ranging between 44 inches and 55 inches. Keeping your pavement clear
throughout the winter typically involves frequent applications of salt or chemical deicers as well as
repeated snowplowing. Between the freeze/thaw cycle, the potential damage from snowplows and the
corrosive actions of deicing materials, your asphalt pavement can take a beating. If you want to
minimize the damage that winter can cause, you should make sure that you have cracks repaired
before the arrival of cold weather.

The primary concern about fires set in churches is that they have been racially motivated. Of 230
church burnings in 1994 41% targeted black churches and 59% targeted white churches. In over 100
arrests, racial hatred was found to be a main motive for arson. Of those arrested 66% where white and
34% were black. In 1996 the problem of church arson increased sharply. As a result president Clinton
formed the National Church Arson Task Force (NCATF), to coordinate the efforts of federal, state and
local law enforcement agencies. Congress also then passed the Church Arson Prevention Act (CAPA),
which expanded the options available to prosecutors when dealing with malicious acts aimed at
houses of worship, since NCATF was passed the incidence of arson at houses of worship declined
steadily.
The most common motives for arson have been found to be: vandalism, excitement/attention seeking,
revenge/spite, crime concealment, economic reasons, extremist/terrorism, and people with mental
problems. Crime concealment is when arson is used to conceal another crime such as murder,
burglary, or vehicle theft. There are some people that have been found to have an irresistible impulse

Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the independence of India
from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and
others. However, many despised Gandhi s methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of
Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank
shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed
controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which
caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those
positives are outweighed by the negatives.
To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the
injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt
exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set
out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the
Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from
seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned the
production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and distribute
alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. Gandhi s actions were comparable

A monopolist can also perform price discrimination. When different prices are charged by a seller for
essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to
segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those
consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures
Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub
divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and
third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to
charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the
maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the
consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each
customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price
discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded.
Within some markets, each consumer purchases many units of the good over any given period, and the
consumer s demand declines with the number of units purchased. In this situation, a firm can

The Everglades And Global Warming
The Everglades and Global warming

Introduction
The Everglades mainly found in the United States of America (USA) is a 2 million acre of wetland
ecosystem that stretches from the Central of Florida near to Orlando to the Bay of Florida in the south.
During rainy seasons, Lake Okeechobee experience upsurge in water volumes causing it to discharge
the waters into the river of grass that characterize with shallow slow moving water carrying grass
marshes. The river flows south and passing through different habitats namely wet prairie, cypress
swamps, mangroves, Everglades National Park and lastly into the Florida Bay. The current size of the
Everglades is smaller than it was originally. The decrease in size has majorly been due to human
activities that include diversions of the water for agriculture and flood control as well as urban
development. The Everglades borders the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. The region is tourist
attraction for birders, boaters, and anglers among others. The Everglades ecosystem supports
agricultural activities besides supplying clean drinking water to the southern Florida residents. Just
like other natural ecosystems like lakes and forests, the Everglades is facing dangers of global

Abortion Is A Right Of Privacy
It is obvious that abortion is a topic that includes many grey areas. Whether an abortion is a right
guaranteed to the mother, or if it is considered taking away the rights the of the unborn baby is one of
these grey areas. Pro choice supporters agree with the Roe v. Wade supreme court decision because of
the way it applies abortion to the constitution. According to the Internet site Pro Con, the court case
presented the idea that abortion fits under the right of privacy (1). By this, the court system is saying
that each woman should be granted the ability to do what she wishes with her body. Although this
right was not directly created for abortion, there are differing opinions as to whether or not an abortion
could fit into one s right of privacy. The term right of privacy is extremely broad, but refers to the
privacy granted to an individual from the government. However, pro life supporters do not think this
should be applied to an abortion, especially because another human being s life is at stake. They
believe that the fetus should also be granted rights, as if they were a living human outside in the real
world. Which is why many pro life advocates make the argument that an abortion is killing a human
being who cannot defend themselves. Due to this belief, there are many states who have passed fetal
homicide laws (1). These were created to respect the rights of the child. As a woman who has become
a mother, it is one s responsibility to protect the human growing inside the womb; killing this growing
human being, who is yet unable to defend themselves, has no other definition than murder. A common
belief among pro choice supporters is that abortion cannot be murder because life does not begin until
birth. However, pro life believers say life begins at conception. Behind this belief stands the idea that
an abortion is taking away the life and rights of an living individual. Since the day abortion became a
vast issue, there has always been a lurking argument between the pro life and pro choice supporters as
to when life exactly begins. This argument came about because pro choice supporters used the
statement that life does not begin until birth to oppose the pro life opinion that

Was Cyrus Successful
Cyrus was Astyages grandson and also the king of Persia. Harpagus was sent to kill him, but did not
do so. Throughout his life he accomplished many things and fought in a number of battles. He was a
well respected leader and treated everyone equally to gain his power. He expanded his power by
traveling farther East, beyond the lands he was comfortable with, and fighting the more violent tribes.
Cyrus treatment of his people and the helping of others were what caused him to gain his power. He
didn t think of himself as a conqueror, but as a liberator of people. He agreed to treating people of all
religions and backgrounds equally, so long as they didn t rebel. Whenever he conquered a new nation,
he allowed the people there to keep their religion and customs. His way of ruling was very different
compared to the Assyrians and other previous rulers. An example of Cyrus actions as a liberator
include the exile of the Jewish people in Babylon. The Jews welcomed Cyrus and his people as
liberators and helped them in overthrowing the Babylonians. Several years later, Cyrus permitted
about 40,000 Jewish exiles to return to their homes. This marked the end of the Babylonian Captivity.
After they had all returned to their homeland, Cyrus used the money he had gotten in ... Show more

years after he conquered Babylon. This charter stated that he would treat everyone and every nation he

those who treated the social and religious minorities of his kingdom cruelly. The way Cyrus treated
people was very different and bizarre from what people had been used to before then, which was
cruelty, violence, and lots of killing. His way was unique and also greatly assisted him in the

Symptoms Of Microcephaly Associated With Zika Cases Essay
Abstract
The Zika outbreak of 2015 shined new light on a once underestimated and lesser known tropical
disease. With the immense effect on pregnant mothers, it quickly became an issue of global concern.
This review will address the concern of the specific symptom of microcephaly associated with Zika
cases in pregnant mothers. Additionally the pathology of Zika transmission as well as possible
treatments will be discussed, as they are all important issues to investigate given the relevance of Zika
in global public health. This outbreak was one met with confusion and a mass of misinformation, so
this review seeks to clarify many of the principles that were misrepresented to the public, and for the
research direct ideal focus for future studies.
The Zika Virus: A Review
Zika virus was first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda. It originated a virus of primates that was
later found to infect humans. The virus is characterized by its single stranded RNA
structure(Arnaoutakis Padhya, 2016). Due to a lack of attentions, the virus went relatively unstudied
until it started to affect the global community through one of the largest epidemics on record.
Since the first reported case of Zika virus in the 1950s, the virus has affected millions of people. There
have been 2 documented outbre (Ochler, et. al, 2016)aks of the virus one in France in 2013 and the
second in South and Central America in 2015. The most recent outbreak alone contributed to 1.3
million cases

The Structure Of The African Family In The Black Family
Black family systems are African in nature and American in nurture. Africanity is being in tune with
an African worldview, therefore the role that Africanity plays in black families determines the unique
form black families take. Africanity is at the root of black families. The operation of the black family
is directly linked to African culture through an African attitude, kinship networks, and childbearing.
The black family is centered around the African ethos, a common guiding principle that filled African
peoples lives. The African ethos, broken down into two categories, is the survival of the tribe and the
oneness of being. The knowledge of one s tribal or family genealogy not only reflected and showed
the importance of the interconnectedness of all elements of the family (tribe), it also was thought to
impart the sense of sacred obligation to extend and continue one s genealogical line. In other words,
existence is dependent not only on those alive, but those dead as well. Therefore in practice, the
structure of traditional African families is based on union. African based family systems can be
thought of as a Continual Flexibility in Circularity . It is based on the continuity and union of people.
African culture must be the basis for understanding black families. African roots of black culture is the
retention of an African attitude, an attitude based on a belief system which understood everything in
the universe to be endowed with the Supreme Force. In

  • 2. Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money and power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized and no longer backward. European Imperialism is not only about the takeover of territories for benefit or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized countries was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but also ideas, culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has shaped the world today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has encouraged racism, sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others. Imperialism from 1850 until the present was a bit different than in previous years. This imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans believed that by colonizing and forcing cultural practices and religion on a country that was considered inferior, they were helping them and thereby doing God s will. One idea that came about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight and ... • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Child Labour By Florence Kelley Child Labor Rhetorical Essay Florence Kelley was a social worker who lived at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. In a speech to the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she stresses the importance of changing child labor laws by appealing to her audience s emotions and ethics. She goes into detail describing the time of day and the type of work they are doing to emphasize her argument. The speech has a sense of urgency and is a clear call to action which form the tone of the piece. Florence Kelley uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to argue for labor law reforms. Kelley uses a passionate tone throughout her speech. Her use of exclamation points conveys this. In the fifth paragraph she says, In Georgia there is no restriction whatever! in reference to children working in factories all night long. This exclamation also helps the audience to understand the way she feels about the issue and maybe how their point view should be shifting. Near the end of the speech she says, For the sake of the children, for the Republic in which these children will vote after we are dead, and for the sake of our cause, we should enlist the workingmen voters, with us, in this task of freeing the children from toil! Here she passionately argues the importance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Rise Of The Anti Hero Rise of the Anti Hero Through Cable and Subscription TV From Tony Soprano to Walter White to Don Draper the anti hero seems to have replaced the classic hero on TV as a result of 3 following major influences. Over the past few decades, due to events of the world such as wars, attacks, natural disaster instilled a mistrust in establishments such as government and journalism, which is then reflected in the popular culture with the stories told on TV. The second major influence is the shift in FCC regulations for cable and subscription content that has had a major effect on the types stories that can be told in these two mediums. And third influence is the networks breaking free from advertising pressure; subscription TV has changed the landscape of TV, clearing the path for stories that are not influenced by rating and advertising, and valuing the story itself. The first and foremost factor that enabled creators to write and audiences to consume stories about anti heroes goes hand in hand with society s severe mistrust in establishments. TV has had a major role in how events unfolded in late 20th and early 21st century, making it possible to bring the news into our living rooms. The rise of the anti hero is a product of a series of chain events that started with many atrocities that our society had to endure, followed by society s realization of how flawed our government and news reporting was, eventually leaving the the people of this country (and of the world) with a darker ... I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner in order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy, labor, culture and so on. LE is known for its high quality products and its technical innovations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That could jeopardize LE position of finding a partner in India, because the company would be exposed to share some of its secrets with them, and as the case states, they wouldn t mind coping it in the future. Another difficulty the company will face is the two main competitors that are already doing business in India, Ador welding Ltd and ESAD India. Finally, we have to wonder how the Liability of Foreigners would affect the company. Even though we do not have any direct reference on the culture and political situation, we can assume that they are a lot different to what the company is used in its own country. Therefore, and even though the recommendation is to enter India finding a partner that can help them understanding the culture, distribution channels and help them dealing with the Indian bureaucracy, the LOF variables should be taking into account to help the company minimize the failure risk of succeeding in India. 2. Irrespective of your answer to the first question, suppose Lincoln Electric does expand into the Indian market by investing in a production facility: Should they enter through acquisition, Greenfield, or joint venture? What factors inform your decision among these entry modes? Analyzing the pros and cons of each entry mode, I would say that a Joint Venture(JV) is the best option for LE to enter the country. On the one hand, local partners can help LE to reduce the LOF. The local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technical Workstream Leader Essay The Roll of a Technical Workstream Lead I have served our Country in the armed forces for more than a dozen years and when I hear the term technical workstream leader, a Warrant Officer is the first though that comes to my mind. The army warrant officer definition is a self aware and adaptive technical expert, combat leader, trainer, and advisor (U.S. Army Human Resource Command, 2004). • 10. Case Study On Brand Equity CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction to Internship: Brand Equity is the added value endowed by the brand to the Product. Although the idea of using a name or a symbol to enhance a product s value has been known to marketers for a long time, brand equity has gained renewed interest in recent years. Hypothesis For The Egg In Cranberry Juice In biology class, we wondered what evidence we could gather through shell less eggs so we could show osmosis and diffusion through the egg inner membranes. My hypothesis for the egg in cranberry juice was that the color would change to red. My hypothesis for the egg in La Croix would be that the texture would become rougher and it would become smaller. My hypothesis for the egg in syrup was that the color would become brown and the egg would become larger. I believe with the knowledge I had at the time, that my hypotheses were not convincing because I did not explain why I thought the eggs were going to change, I just stated it. In a controlled experiment, the independent variable is the only variable that can be adjusted, while the dependent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We put our egg into syrup because we wanted to see if the color would change to brown and if the size would change. The egg started out as whitish or light orange and changed to brown with bits of white. It changed color because the syrup was trying to diffuse into the egg. However, because the egg had bits of white, the color only stained the membrane. This means that the diffusion did not fully occur. The egg initially weighed 88.3g but after the experiment, it had decreased to 48.39g. I believe this happened because the egg was hypertonic, and so the size decreased. The texture of the egg started out as squishy and slightly chalky and ended as being deflated and having a smooth membrane. The texture most likely changed because the texture of the syrup diffused into it and changed it. The egg deflated most likely because the egg was hypertonic. These changes show that the egg membrane is selectively permeable because it let the egg albumen out of the egg, but the syrup was only able to color the egg and not diffuse into the egg completely. I believe that passive transport happened, but precisely diffusion. If I could do the lab just on these changes, I would keep the egg in the syrup for longer until it stopped deflating and then find out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Rise Of The Fishing Industry Before the rise of the fishing industry in the 1950 s Newfoundland and Labrador struggled with an unstable economy and many citizens found themselves living in poverty. Initially on shore methods had minimal impact on the environment and fish population, as in shore fishermen followed a strict season and fished only during the summer leaving the population to migrate in the fall. As technology advanced steam boats made off shore fishing possible, this allowed draggers to fish in massive quantities regardless of the season. At first this was very promising to the Canadian government and the Fishery Products International Company (FPI) as they saw huge profits, and the opportunity to create jobs for fisherman and factory workers alike. However, with continued offshore fishing the inshore fisherman saw significant depletion in the fish population, specifically cod. It took far too long for the government to realize the severity of the issue and when they did it was too late. In 1992 the government announced a complete ban of cod fishing. This resulted in the loss of 19000 jobs, and all profit coming from this industry throwing many small fishing towns in Newfoundland back into poverty. All stakeholders felt the effects of the ban; the External Stakeholders FPI explains why they supplied the boats to major corporations and over exaggerated the cod population and Internal Stakeholders consisted of the independent fishermen and their families and how they were affected. Each contains the tale of how that certain culture or religion views the beginning of everything, ranging from the animals to the world itself. Creators came in the form of gods or other super human beings and they handled each world differently. These stories each gave us an idea of how the world we are living in was made, and some even tells us about how we were made. The creation stories I have chosen originate in China, the Christian religion, and finally, a Norse creation story. They all include some big, super human creator, though they handle the story a bit differently than each other. No matter what though, they still are connected in the fact that they talk about the creation of the world, and that connection is eternal. Creation stories have given each person a view of what happened way before their own time and it sticks with people as they go through time. Each story can reflect how that religion or culture worked and it is quite interesting. These stories help bind many people together, and even the most different of people can find similarities between each other and come together using these stories. We shall start off with the Chinese view of the creation of the world. Their story begins with the heavens and Earth being one and everything being in chaos. It is better to be courteous of others and thoughtful than to deal with the dreadful guilt. The themes of guilt and appreciation are shown in the poem, Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden. • 20. The Effects Of Maternal Behavior On Mother Rats Essay Two scholarly articles compared the different effects maternal behavior can have on mother rats later on in their lifetime. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward one s young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two different experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioning approach. Classical condition was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a response is elicited by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied rats with varying degrees of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested in both articles. Overall, there are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In rats, each cycle lasts about four to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016). Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis. In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given birth to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care of their young or lactating. For this experiment, the independent variable was stress and maternal experience. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Effects of the BP Oil Spill Four years ago from today, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sunk, killing eleven people. Underwater cameras showed that the pipe was leaking oil and gas about 40 miles from the coast of Louisiana. This leak would eventually release about 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf before it would be capped 87 days later. Immediately after the explosion, workers from Transocean, BP, and the government attempted to control the spread of oil to the coast by using oil booms and chemical dispersants to break down underwater oil. However, these methods had problems. First, oil booms only stop the spread of surface oil. While that sounds good, lots of the oil was beneath the surface and the booms did nothing to stop the spread of this oil. Second, the chemical dispersants used to break down the underwater oil could be just as harmful to marine life as the oil was. Over 1.84 million gallons of Corexit dispersant were used in the Gulf. Use of the dispersant was described as the most effective and fast moving tool for minimizing shoreline impact . Despite these claims, an analysis conducted by Toxipedia showed that the dispersant could contain cancer causing agents, hazardous toxins and endocrine disrupting chemicals. Scientists were concerned that the dispersants made a spill even more toxic, increasing the danger to wildlife. The dangers are even greater when poured into the source of a spill, because they are picked up by the current and washed through the Gulf. The oil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Methods of Enhanced Oil Recovery Essay example Introduction With almost 200 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil reserves located in the United States alone, it is not surprising why so many companies are adopting enhanced oil recovery techniques in everyday operations ( Total energy , 2012). Oil production can be broken down into three main components: primary, secondary, and tertiary recovery. Primary recovery is when the well is first drilled and the natural pore pressure of the rock squeezes hydrocarbons out of the pore space. During this time the hydrocarbons are put under immense pressure and the majority of the liquids and gases will flow to the top. Secondary recovery is when water and gas injection are used to transfer the oil from the reservoir to the surface. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cyclic Steam Stimulation An example of thermal recovery is cyclic steam stimulation which is a method of increasing oil production by going through multiple steam cycles. First a steam generator heats water to produce steam so that the injection wells can heat the surrounding formation. Then the well is shut in and the heat is given time to diffuse into the oil, which reduces the viscosity of oil. Soon afterwards, the well returns to production and the initial oil rate is higher due to the increase in reservoir pressure. Once the heat has dissipated far into the formation, the oil saturation may drop because the porosity no longer has an external force holding the space between the grains open. After the initial cycle has been completed the cycle can be three to four times before production gains become insignificant. Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is also a type of thermal recovery which injects steam into horizontal wells for heavy oil reservoir production and tar sand production. (Steam assisted, 2013). SAGD begins by drilling two parallel horizontal wells about four to six meters apart. The upper well will have steam injected into it while the bottom well is used to collect the heavy oils, such as Bitumen. As the steam spreads throughout the formation in all directions, any gases, such as CH4, CO2 and H2S, will ascend to the top of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Medieval European Feudalism Medieval Europe, which lasted from about 500 1300 CE, originally was filled with Germanic invasions and threats from groups such as the Islamic Caliphate, the Magyars, and the Vikings. The constant instability from these external threats eventually demanded for a new system of government, which for Europe was feudalism. This system of government would last for centuries, until the eventual rise of towns and trade around Europe began the downfall of feudalism. Japan, although geographically independent of Europe, developed a similar system in around 1300 CE, which lasted until around 1600. These lords would distribute the land even further by giving fiefs to lesser lords, known as vassals. Like Europe, in Japan, the shogun would give land to the shugo, later known as the daimyō, who would then give land to the samurai. However, unlike Europe, these were not formal contracts made between the two parties. The agreements would be based purely on honor and moral obligations. In Europe, feudal agreements were all legal agreements, and contracts were made to enforce this. The role of the monarch or emperor in both societies played a very similar role; both the monarch in Europe and the emperor in Japan were largely figureheads and held no real power, leading to lack of central authority in the two states. The Catholic Church, with influence across the continent, took on the role of a central power in Europe, stronger than any individual or group at the time. For example, when Pope Gregory VII had a dispute with King Henry VI of England, the Pope excommunicated the king, freeing his subjects from allegiance to him, which was soon followed by revolts. The most common motives for arson have been found to be: vandalism, excitement/attention seeking, revenge/spite, crime concealment, economic reasons, extremist/terrorism, and people with mental problems. Crime concealment is when arson is used to conceal another crime such as murder, burglary, or vehicle theft. There are some people that have been found to have an irresistible impulse to set fires. • 35. Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the independence of India from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and others. However, many despised Gandhi s methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives. To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned the production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and distribute alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. When different prices are charged by a seller for essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded. • 42. Abortion Is A Right Of Privacy It is obvious that abortion is a topic that includes many grey areas. Whether an abortion is a right guaranteed to the mother, or if it is considered taking away the rights the of the unborn baby is one of these grey areas. Pro choice supporters agree with the Roe v. Wade supreme court decision because of the way it applies abortion to the constitution. According to the Internet site Pro Con, the court case presented the idea that abortion fits under the right of privacy (1). By this, the court system is saying that each woman should be granted the ability to do what she wishes with her body. Although this right was not directly created for abortion, there are differing opinions as to whether or not an abortion could fit into one s right of privacy. The term right of privacy is extremely broad, but refers to the privacy granted to an individual from the government. However, pro life supporters do not think this should be applied to an abortion, especially because another human being s life is at stake. They believe that the fetus should also be granted rights, as if they were a living human outside in the real world. Which is why many pro life advocates make the argument that an abortion is killing a human being who cannot defend themselves. Due to this belief, there are many states who have passed fetal homicide laws (1). These were created to respect the rights of the child. As a woman who has become a mother, it is one s responsibility to protect the human growing inside the womb; killing this growing human being, who is yet unable to defend themselves, has no other definition than murder. A common belief among pro choice supporters is that abortion cannot be murder because life does not begin until birth. However, pro life believers say life begins at conception. Behind this belief stands the idea that an abortion is taking away the life and rights of an living individual. Since the day abortion became a vast issue, there has always been a lurking argument between the pro life and pro choice supporters as to when life exactly begins. This argument came about because pro choice supporters used the statement that life does not begin until birth to oppose the pro life opinion that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Africanity is being in tune with an African worldview, therefore the role that Africanity plays in black families determines the unique form black families take. Africanity is at the root of black families. The operation of the black family is directly linked to African culture through an African attitude, kinship networks, and childbearing. The black family is centered around the African ethos, a common guiding principle that filled African peoples lives. The African ethos, broken down into two categories, is the survival of the tribe and the oneness of being. The knowledge of one s tribal or family genealogy not only reflected and showed the importance of the interconnectedness of all elements of the family (tribe), it also was thought to impart the sense of sacred obligation to extend and continue one s genealogical line.
