Badger Den Symbolism
The Badger Den symbolizes home. The Den is the only place in life Ben has had a meaningful
connection to and cares about. Ben MacDonald s life has never been an easy one, with disdainful
family and confusing people surrounding him. This den was the one place where what he looked
like, what the social norm was, and how he acted didn t matter, all that mattered was him and the
badger being able to survive. Another reason is the den symbolized home was because the female
badger had become the surrogate motherand she and he had lived there, which is supported by the
saying, The Home is where the heart is.
The trap represents how Ben feels trapped in his everyday life with no clear reason to exist or
benefit he provides for society. With

The Automobile Industry Has Changed Throughout The Years
In 1769, the first human transport automobile was created and used the steam engine. The steam
engine evolved into the internal combustion engine that was powered by gas in 1806. Nearly
eighty years later, the petrol fueled internal combustion engine was created. In the 20th century, the
use of electricity for power was also briefly utilized. Beginning in 1769 until present day, the
automobile industry has went through exciting innovative changes and there is no telling what lies
ahead. According to the Economist (2013) A variety of driver assistance technologies are
appearing on new cars, which will not only take a lot of the stress out of driving in traffic but also
prevent many accidents. The Economist also states that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
automobile industry and have done so in a highly competitive way. The automobile industry is
categorized as an oligopoly. In this particular structured market, outside organizations have the
capability of entering the automobile industry, but in some cases there can be barriers of entry and
exit. According to Colander, D. (2010) Implicit collusion among U.S. automobile firms led to
foreign firms entry into the U.S. automobile market. Basically, a collective decision is made to
reduce or increase pricing in the industry without companies specifically meeting to do so. In the
global market, the automobile industry is competitive and creates opportunities to increase
production along with establishing operations in other countries throughout the world. The ability
to sustain a level of profits will be a challenge. With fluctuating market pricing, market share of the
automobile industry can be increased or reduced. In some cases, making a significant price
reduction can eliminate a competitor from the industry, which can result in long term profits.
Merger Activity The automobile industry has a long history of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships
and alliances. In 1904 Ford Motor Company partnered with a Canadian carriage maker. Though not
a vertical merger, the partnership increased Ford s production efficiency. The most recent

Hellenistic Analysis
Alexander brought to the conquered land the Greeks, and with them the Greek culture. The people
of these lands had to adapt to the changing views and adopted the Greek language in order to better
understand each other. However, Hellenism was the blending of different cultures, like Egyptian,
Persian, Indian and the Greeks, that would bring diversity to these conquered lands.
A city becoming Hellenised meant that the locals had come into contact with the Greeks and
knowledge of the Greek culture, language and literature. In conjunction with philosophers, who
views of religion, was somewhat outside the normal views, meaning that they challenged the
significance of religious views, perhaps in an attempt to undermine these new religions.

This is not to say that they liked the Greeks in their lands. However, there were Jews who liked
the idea of the Greek culture, and adopted parts of the Greek culture into their own culture. The
more traditional Jews found the Greeks offensive, with men strutting around naked in the gyms
for all to see, and it was against the Jewish laws to be seen naked. Because of their nakedness the
Jews could also see that some men were uncircumcised, which was again offensive to the Jewish
society for they considered them as unclean and impure. Furthermore, the Greeks ability to make
better deals and profit also upset the Jews. Not only that, but they further disliked the fact that
the Greeks spilling swine blood for sacrifices to their Pagan Gods, especially when swine was
taboo in the Jewish culture. Another thing to consider too was that the more extreme Jews, did
not like the idea of their brethren taking on a more Hellenistic lifestyle, as they were scared that
their God would punish them for such an act. Eventually they rebelled against the Hellenistic way
due to Antiochus IV stealing from their sacred temple and forcing the Jewish people to make
sacrifices to the Pagan Gods. However, this is not to say that all opposed

Seis Decisiones Que Tu Gente de It No Debe Hacer.
Resumen
En las empresas existe frustraciГіn de los ejecutivos de negocios hacia el ГЎrea de TI. La queja
mГЎs frecuente es que no ven con claridad el valor que da al negocio el haber instalado una
tecnologГa cara.

Introduction In this paper I will apply Porter s Five Forces Framework on the traditional oil and
gas upstream industry in the UK. The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK
independent oil producer in the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is
designed to assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition
through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants;
Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or
Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic approach to analysing any industry and
is based on the principle that the stronger the five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete.
Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers
and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five
Forces Framework has

3-Acetamidopropane-1 Alcohol Analysis
It is well known that excessive alcohol can produce various side effects to human. However,
giving up drinking is difficult and can bring several symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. To treat this
problem, acamprosate, 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid, is used as a medication with a
common brand name, Campral. Acamprosate is a small moleculethat has a molecular weight about
181.21 g/mol. Its molecular formula is C5H11NO4S and is named as 3 Acetamidopropane 1
sulfonic acid or N acetyl homotaurine. The main function of acamprosate is re balancing the
chemicals in the brain. Before alcoholconsumption, human brain retains a balance of chemicals
called neurotransmitters. When the intake of alcohol is repeated, the brain alters the balance and
turns to adapt to that chemical changes, and finally, this will be lead to tolerance and addiction of
alcohol. By modulating and normalizing the alcohol related... Show more content on

During the synthesis, the first two steps are using SOCl2 (Thionyl chloride) and Na2SO3 (Sodium
sulfite). Thionyl chloride is a reagent of the reaction of alcohols that replaces the alcohol with
chlorine. Then, the chlorine becomes a leaving group, and the sodium sulfite reacts as a
substitution. When the 3 aminopropane 1 sulfonic acid is made, this is treated with calcium
hydroxide and acetic acid. Calcium hydroxide, which is a strong base, deprotonates the molecule
and makes the product, acamprosate calcium. This synthesized acamprosate has two functional
groups, sulfonic acid, and amide. Interestingly, acamprosate molecule does not have any chirality or
E/Z stereochemistry. There is no carbon that has four different substituents or no nitrogen with three
different substituents and a positive charge. In addition, there is no carbon carbon double bond

Explain Three Affirmative Origins Of The American Revolution
There are three affirmative origins of the American Revolution between 1760 and 1776 that
affected American colonist. The first one was the proclamation of 1763. The second one that
stands out was the stamp act of 1765 by King George III. Finally, in 1770 the horrendous murder
of colonist was known as the Boston massacre. Parliament issued the proclamation of 1763 also
known as the proclamation line. This infuriated the colonist by restricting land movement from
going west of the Appalachian Mountains. It also created conflict with the colonist that had to give
up their hoes and farmland to move east. This restriction only allowed licensed traders to travel
west and make deals with the Indians. In 1765 King George III issued the stamp act.

Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness
MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it
can because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit
of happiness. Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience,
medical help for loved ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t
need money to be happy and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is
used for buying, giving, and having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot
of people have money so there chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol
Psy. D, a researcher and writes about mental health psychologyand technology issues, states, Money
can buy you happinessas long as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience
rather than buying a product because as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown
that we are generally happier when we spend money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can
buy you happiness because it changes our mood and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also
concord with John when saying we should give some money away. For example, give some
money to charities or to unfortunate people because some people need it more than we do. It will
basically make us feel happier at the end of the day. To me, if you have

Marx Alienation
Marx s theory on species being and estranged labour. The theory of alienation by Karl Marx
describes the act of estrangement of persons beginning from those characteristics of their species
essence in place of a magnitude of existence in a society or community of stratified collective
classes. The isolation from oneself is generally as a result of being an automatic part of the
communal class (Meszaros, pg 54). Philosophically, this theory depends s upon the essence of
Christianity which was described by Ludwig Feuerbach. Marx further extended this theory of
Ludwig by stating that even the idea of humanity is also an alienating perception for people to
logically deliberate in its complete metaphysical implication (Meszaros, pg 57). In his work of
1844, Marx explained alienation in the following way: In any capitalist society, the isolation of
employed workers from their humanity is believed to occur because the only thing that a worker
can express is labour (Meszaros, pg 59). This is a significant societal facet of particular
eccentricity through a privatised system of industrial production where every employee is
considered a thing but not a person. The following are the four types of alienation that normally
exist to a worker who is labouring under a capitalist form of industrial production: 1. The
disaffection of workers from their respective products. Here, Marx explained that product designs
and how it is manufactured are determined by capitalist classes who part

A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity
What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or
define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we
define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper
will briefly discuss identitytheory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and
the differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and
subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we
behave in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child
identifies as a mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in
accordance with the social standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the
self is based on multiple roles; the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis
player. In identity theory terms, these are called role identities.... Show more content on

So, a woman, when caring for her child, will likely behave in ways that are nurturing but, that
same woman, when away from her child and in the presence of an employer, may behave in a
more detached and reserved manner. Each person has a hierarchy of role identities based on what
role is more important to them. When two roles are in conflict a person will choose one over the
other. The mother mentioned above may abandon her work if her child is ill and her role as a
mother is more important than her role as an

Dante And Chaucer Research Paper
Danielle Rose English 192 Prof. J. Perl Dante and Chaucer Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer
are both amongst the most celebrated authors in history. Each of their respective tomes, The Divine
Comedy and The Canterbury Tales, have had untold influence on literature and language. Dante
and Chaucer both wrote their masterpieces in the vernacular of their day, a revolutionary concept
for their time, which helped shape language and strengthen the word of the laymen, popularizing
the use of vernacular literature. Both stories even have a loosely similar structure of a guided
pilgrimage, with the authors inserted as characters. However, the way in which Dante and
Chaucer each write themselves into their stories is vastly different. Dante wrote his Divine
Comedy after a politically motivated exile from Florence, starting c. 1308 up until his death in
1321. In it, he recounts the allegorical tale of his journey to Heaven through the nine circles of
Hell, guided by Virgil. Originally titled The Comedy, (later changed to The Divine... Show more

In his Canterbury Tales, he employs a form of comedy much closer to the modern implications
of the word. He depicts himself as a blithering fool, perhaps the most incompetent at story telling
of all the pilgrims, whose drasty rymyng is nat worth a tord. In his Tale of Sir Thopas , Chaucer
gives a highly dramatized parody of the medieval, chivalric romance. Grossly exaggerated and
abundant in all the clichГ©s of the romance, the tale is clearly a satire of the genre and all who
read it. The tale is so successfully over done, that the host becomes so wery of thy verray
lewednesse and interrupts the story, a true romantic burlesque. Particularly after the seriousness of
the Prioress s dark tale which left the group of pilgrims in a somber mood, the comedy of The Tale
of Sir Thopas becomes even more grotesque by contrast, providing much needed comic

Clarissa Dalloway Characteristics
Introduction Virginia Woolf hailed by many as a radical writer of genius (DiBattista, 2006) is
one of the most iconic writers in the history of literature. Most of her novels are well known and
largely studied even today. This paper will focus on one f her most celebrated novels, Mrs.
Dalloway, which gives the readers a detailed insight into one day in the life of a fictional
character called Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway. When Woolf was writing the introduction for this novel
she mentions that when an author writes a book she inserts many layers of meaning into her work.
While reading, the reader might discover each layer but it would be up to the reader to decide what
was relevant and what not. (Woolf, 1928, p.36) Hence, though this book concentrates... Show more

Sally Seton represented the rebellious, wild passion that Clarissa would never explore by
herself due to the constraints of the society. Sally was outrageous, she lacked inhibitions, and
she didn t care about the normal rules of society. She rose in Clarissa a passion and heat which
no man in her life could ignite again. The kiss they shared is described as the most exquisite
moment of her [Clarissa] whole life (Woolf, 2005, p. 35) and yet they both knew that nothing
could come of it. Even though Sally was rebellious, girls in the English society were supposed to
get married to well established men and be their loving wife. Even though the reason is not
explicitly stated, Sally and Clarissa might not have gotten together due to the society pressure.
Besides Sally, Clarissa also left behind Peter Walsh, a person she still remembers fondly often in
the present. Throughout the novel, it is made obvious that they both are still in love with one
another. When Clarissa is out enjoying the London weather she fondly refers to him as her dear
Peter (Woolf, 2005, p. 6) and mentions how he would be adorable (Woolf, 2005, p. 6) to walk
with in this weather. She remembers the little details about him from their childhood and even
openly admits that when she got to know he married someone else it felt like an arrow sticking in

The Discovery, Structure, Metabolic Processes, Regulation...
ABSTRACT
Upon discovery of photosynthesis and the pathways that the molecules took during this process,
chloroplasts were soon uncovered. Scientists have taken a keen interest in chloroplasts since their
discovery. This review article will explore the discovery, structure, metabolic processes, regulation
and the genome of the chloroplast. Chloroplast are not only vital in providing food for plant life,
they are essential regulating and producing molecules for the cell. Once thought to function on their
own chloroplast have their own DNA and many unique characterizes. While much has been
discovered about the chloroplast there are still many unanswered questions and useful applications
for these tiny organelles. INTRODUCTION
Chloroplasts are very interesting organelles, thought to have once been independently functioning
cells. It is believed that they were once cyanobacteria floating around in the primordial soup. These
bacteria underwent respiration on their own in the absence of molecular oxygen until the ozone
layer was formed and oxygen gas could exist on earth. Once this occurred, eukaryotic organisms
started to flourish and they engulfed the bacteria. Once the bacteria were engulfed these prokaryotic
organisms over time with evolution became what we now know today as the chloroplast.
Chloroplast today are organelles within cells that have double membranes. They function in the
plant to not only capture light from the sun and turn it into carbohydrates for the plant

Smoke Signals Analysis
The film, Smoke Signals was about an adolescent name Victor and his friend Thomas on a
journey to see what happened to Victor s father. Throughout the movie, Victor has trouble trying
to forgive his father for leaving his mother and himself behind. The context behind the movie did
a great job in illustrating the culture of Native Americans and threw in some of the common
stereotypes that are associated with Native Americans. Some of the stereotypes about Native
Americans were domestic violence, them being alcoholics and a scene where one of the female
characters, Lucy, says we barter because we re Indian. The depiction of poverty and struggle in
the movie was not as concise because of the difference in living space between Victor s familyand
Thomas s. Victor and his mother live in a decent home. In contrast, Thomas and his grandmother
live in a higher standard living space. No one in the film was really struggling to meet ends met
like how it is in the real world. If the movie was not focused on Victor and Thomas journey, the
story would have taken a different path.
In the scene where Victor and Thomas were on the bus, Victor stated there s three things that are
needed to be a true Indian. The first thing being is that you have to be stoic, if not White people will
walk all over you. The second thing is that an Indian is nothing without his hair. Lastly, to be
Indian you have to dress like an Indian, in essence culturally or like a warrior. The culture of

minors with their homework, some sites will even provide all the answers to the entire

about their homework until the last minute. Minors know the answers to their homework are on
the internet, therefore no effort or actual thinking is put to it. Social media does not only
encourage slacking, but it also brings no good to their health, they re not being productive at all.
Social media has many interesting things. Things raging from videos, games, movies and
personalized accounts, there s something for everyone. Many people are and others can get
addicted to social media and its contents. People can spend an entire day hooked on their screen
without noticing. Social media is now a big contribution and a reason for the increase of obesity,
people prefer to stay home using social media instead of socializing outside of it. Social media
can be a great source of help and start of many new inventions. On the other side when social
media usage is abused there s bad results. Over usage of social media can affect a persons sense
of sight, the radiation of a phone can even cause cancer. Social media just like drugs can get
addicting and affect a persons life. When a person abuses of social media many complications
may come to their life. Problems like depression due to isolation and disconnecting from the world

traits humans possess that have led to troubles. Julius Caesar, power hungry to expand his empire,

The Human Body s Defense System
The immune system is our body s defense system it is vital to our body s health and survival. We
need the immune system to fight off bacteria, viruses, and other foreign, harmful substances as well
as our own cells that have become bad or even cancerous. There are several building blocks that
make up the system as a whole, each just as important as the next, that work hand in hand. This
includes the lymphatic system, biological molecules, antibodies, white blood cells, the tonsils,
thymus, bone marrow, and the spleen. The tonsils and thymus both create antibodies, while bone
marrow (among other things) creates white blood cells, which are crucial to fighting off
infection. The lymphatic system carries waste as well as nutrients, and lymph fluid throughout
the body in the blood stream. The lymph nodes act as a strainer or filter, so when the lymph fluid
travels through, it traps virus s, bacteria, and any other substance that s foreign to your body.
These things are then destroyed by lymphocytes, which are specialized white blood cells. The
spleen, which also works as a filter, gets rid of aged or damaged platelets and blood cells, and also
destroys bacteria and other harmful or foreign substances. When an autoimmune disease occurs, it
is because the body has triggered an inflammatory defense response when there is nothing to protect
the body from. Inflammationis what happens when white blood cells and immune proteins are
fighting off infection. The immune system

Banning Prayer In Schools
If you were to sit in the bleachers of a football game today, would God be mentioned? More and
more schools across the nation are banning prayer that is recited over the loudspeakers. The
controversy has arose over the past 20 years. How would you feel if a Friday night tradition of
praying was taken away from your night? Would you feel as if you were missing something? The
assistant coach for Bremerton High School, Joe Kennedy, prayed at the 50 yard line before and
after every game with his team would join him unforced. It was a Friday night tradition for the
coach. He was asked to stop by the Bremerton High School District because it would be violating
federal law. Kennedy prayed anyway like he had done the past seven years after the team s
homecoming loss. He walked onto the field to pray alone, except when he opened his eyes, he

In 1995, a case originated out of Galveston County, Texas where two families, one catholic and the
other mormon, sued the Santa Fe School District. The families did not agree with the school s
policy to elect a chaplain to lead prayers at graduation and home football games over their PA
system.
After a five year court battle, the courts ruled that the public school districts cannot let students lead
crowds in prayer before football games. The reasoning was because the prayer is happening on
government land at school sponsored events, that they are pushing the constitutional requirement
that separates church from state.
Players will still be allowed to pray on their own before, during, or after games as long as the prayer
is done by themselves. Some teams have said that their football players can still pray before games
as long as they are the ones initiating it, and the coaches are not allowed to

nutrition is the first step; like the rest of the body, the penile tissue requires the right blend of
nutrients to reproduce itself, repair itself after damage, and maintain its metabolic functions. As the
body works to deal with the chemicals that are introduced by marijuana smoking, many of these
nutrients may be diverted from the penis, reducing its ability to function normally. In addition,
smoking any substance tends to have a dehydrating effect, and the loss of moisture can lead to a
dry, less responsive penis. Men can counter these effects by adding a penis health creme (health

Football And Pop Culture
As Americans, we all have multiple perspectives on life and what it brings to the table. We have
our opinions on what we think is the most common pop culture to man. Although there are many,
there is one thing that all Americans can probably agree on and cannot argue about, well,
sometimes. In my opinion, football would be the sport that most of the population can relate to
while it brings everyone together as it has for many generations. It plays a huge role in
popularity; therefore, football has made the name for itself as the most popular American sport
across the nation. It is a common characteristic in everyday lives and it will continue to live on
and prosper through many generations to come. I have learned how football is one of the most
common, classic characteristic of American culture over the years and my story behind my
knowledge can tell it all. I would like to start off and say that we could come up with many different
characteristics that are common to American culture. Instead of naming them all, we can oversee
why American footballis clearly one of them within people across the nation. With it being a very
high demanding sport in pop culture, I would like to say that people across the nation can
familiarize themselves more with football rather than other sports; for example, basketball,
softball, or even baseball. Whether it is a Friday night high school football game under the lights,
an exciting Saturday for college level, or a relaxing Sunday watching

BACKGROUND
I am proposing for a library to be put into the Exton campus of Delaware County Community
College. There is currently not a library at this location. In order to have the use of a campus
library we must go to the main campus of the college, which is approximately thirty to forty minutes
from the Exton location. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A library that is closer for students would promote good learning habits and study skills. Students
may not wait until the last minute to do their projects and papers because resources are more
readily available to them.
PROPOSED ENVIRONMENT
The proposed environment will consist of a fully functioning library that is open to students and
faculty free of charge. If an outside member of the community would like to use the library the
school could charge them a small membership fee. This will help to raise revenue for the college
and the library.
For the first few years the library may be small but as years pass the library can expand to have
more books, magazines, research materials, computers, etc. The library can also share with the
main campus library in order to expand their materials and capabilities. I think many students and
teachers would support the addition of a library to the campus.
When the library is first constructed it should have at least a thousand books, several magazine
subscriptions, and fifteen computers. Ten of the computers should be connected to the Internet and
have common programs that students would use to write research papers and create presentations.
The other five computers should be connected to research databases only such as Ebsco. There
should also be a ?quiet area? where students can study, do homework, research material, read, write
papers, etc. A ?quiet area? would give

The Reality as Opposed to the Disney Versions of Snow...
Presently, many books and fairytales are converted movies and often, producers alters the original
tales to grasp the attention of a large audience. However, some of these interpretations hide the
primary interpretation. The original interpretations of the Disney classics Snow White and Sleeping
Beauty are greatly reinvented from the original fairytales Sun, Moon, and Talia and Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs because of the brutal nature of the treatment women in these original forms.
Although there are differences in certain aspects from the original tales to the movies, there are
many issues that are influential to the young girls who are still watching the Disney version. I
realize this when my youngest niece, Anella asks me, Why can t... Show more content on

Although Talia s father tries his best to vanish any type of spindle in his home until she was a
young lady, she somehow finds a spindle and pricks herself with it. He fears that his daughter
will lose her purity and innocence by pricking her needle or giving her up to marriage. Talia
immediately dies to fulfill the prophecy. The father is so distraught that he sent Talia s body
away in one of his country homes and abandons the place because he can t cope with his loss.
Sometime later, while a King is hunting, he finds Talia, dead, in the country house. The King,
however, already has a wife of his own. Although Talia is really dead, her beauty is perpetual. He
immediately raped her because of her irresistible beauty. Doesn t that show that princes can use
women, especially when they are vulnerable? The King is infatuated with Talia who is passive.
After he is finished pleasuring himself with Talia, he leaves. The King disposes of Talia after is
done using her. The lesson once can take away is that it is permissible to have a woman and
throw her away when you re done. What s worse is that the King had lifted the curse with his
action. Talia becomes pregnant and when one of the twins sucks the thumb she is pricked, Talia
finally wakes up. Coincidentally, the King is lustful and finds her again. This time, the King
confesses what he has done and Talia reacts to her rape and defilement

Essay Questions on the Breakfast Club
Question #1, Option b Roles are like parts we play in life, each with a set of expectations specific
to that position (rules). In The Breakfast Club, Mr. Vernon has the role of the Principle. Naturally
this means his rules include both the explicit (written out and specifically defined) ones such as
managing the school s staff, and creating and carrying out policies and procedures, and the implicit
(implied) ones such as trying to guide his students down the right path and leading by example by
being respectful and fair to his students. In detention Mr. Vernon tells the students that they re not to
talk, move from their seats, or sleep, and that they re expected to write an essay of no less than a
thousand words on who they think... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the closet the wounded look on his face when Mr. Vernon told him he was basically scum
further strengthened my belief that deep down, he really believes all the things his parents and
the principle think about him. Since it is known that children who are told negative things about
themselves at an early age often come to believe it, and we know from John s outburst and the
cigar burn on his arm that this was likely the case for him, it s not difficult at all to believe that
this was how his low self esteem was developed in the first place. Odds are it was this constant
belittling by them and any negative reinforcement he got from other students and teachers like
Mr. Vernon that helped to solidify these beliefs about himself. John s public self, the one he
projects for others to see, as seen through his interactions and persona as a badass, is just that, the
criminal . His ideal self, the one he really wishes he was, is probably that of the boy who can
stand up to his father and scream f*ck you back at his father when he s being degraded. All that
pent up anger that he exhibited during his skit of his home life probably wouldn t have been
quite that forceful if it was really how he reacted at a time like that. His real self, the guy he really
is underneath all his masks, shells, and doubts, is actually a pretty good guy whether he normally

Muscle Protein Synthesis
As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino
acids are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of
muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps
transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with
the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing
complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require
amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step.
Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the musclecell. Here,
transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order... Show more content on

First of all, WPHs are effective scavengers of molecules with free radicals in the body (Tang et
al, 2012) due to their hydrophobicity. Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that
when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for
many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the
formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing
them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double
bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant
protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and
reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals.
The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a
widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other
methods. (p.

Later Model Of God Research Paper
There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are
accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever
since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to
the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once.
He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything.
The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc.
Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God
goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of
Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is
not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states
he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It
points out two things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biblical scholars did not have a clear understanding of God and so they expressed themselves
in ways it is easy for us readers to comprehend. The beginning of the bible describes God in a
inferior/unsatisfactory way. A whole different way and a different model from God s being. But
the older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the
later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more
sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior
and knows what is happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in
one place and he can so call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly
perceivable but is omnipresent. This is because God causes everything that happens, to

Differences Between The Movie Ben-Hur
Ben hur (2016) is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and cinematography by Oliver Wood. It is a
remake of the 1959 version of Ben Hur, which was directed by William Wyler and
cinematography by Robert L. Surtees. This story follows Judah Ben Hur in his fight against
revenge and forgiveness. Ben Hur and his brother Messala both have to make choices that will
affect their friendship and trust in one another. Each of these movies are a rendition of the book
Ben Hur, written by Lew Wallace. Although they are based on the same story, there are many
differences between the two movies. Some of the differences are the addition of the character,
Gestas, and the different style in which they were written. The addition of the character Gestas
in the 2016 movie is a major change in the story. In the 1959 version, the tile falls off the roof of
Ben Hur s house and he and his family are accused of trying to kill the new governor of Judea.
This incident is rather unrealistic and does not provide Judah with an alibi. The addition of this
new character also adds more emotion to the film and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way that William Wylerdecided to direct his film was different from what was being shown
at that time. The chariot race is one of the most famous scenes in Hollywood. At that time,
nothing had been done like that before. We also see a difference between the two movies in the
boat scene. The 2016 film is shown to be more dramatic and intriguing to the viewer. It does a
better job at making the viewers feel the emotion of what Judah and the other slaves were going
through. Another obvious change is the representation of Jesus. In the 1959 version, Jesus does
not have a speaking part, some may believed that this payed more respect to him. In the 2016
version we get to see more of him as he plays a bigger role. We see that Judah connects with Jesus
more in the newer film and that plays a big role in Judah s

Suicide And Suicide Interventions On The Drink Of Suicide
Helping individuals suffering from suicidal ideations and attempts at self harm calls upon a
social worker s ethical obligation to service. According to the NASW Code of Ethics, social
workers primary goal is to help people in need and address social problems (National Association of
Social Workers, 2008). A way to fulfill this duty is by giving first responders the tools necessary
to adequately talk with people in crisis and on the brink of suicide. Considered a preventable cause
of death, suicide is a major public health concern in many industrial and post industrial countries,
and one of the three leading causes of death worldwide among individuals from 15 to 44 years of
age (Hoy, Natarajan, Petra, 2016).
Often times individuals in crisis will come in contact with first responders either by contacting
emergency services themselves or from a call placed by a family member or concerned citizen.
According to research by Gould et al. (2013), to address the global tragedy of nearly one million
deaths by suicide worldwide, public health interventions with widespread capacity to reach at risk
populations are needed (Gould et al., 2013). One way to attain this goal is by training dispatchers,
law enforcement officers, paramedics, and firefighters on the current evidence based practices for
suicidal crisis intervention. Providing first responders with the skills needed to more effectively
communicate with the suicide population should, in turn, increase the

1. Plaque Formation
Plaque is a clear bio film of buildup on the teeth that can lead to both tooth decay and gum disease.
Chewing gum or eating any food can cause plaque to form. After consuming food or chewing gum,
plaque can formulate on the teeth within a few hours. The bacteria found in plaque can directly

Different Types Of Cell Cycle
Chapter five primarily covers information about cells, cell division, and the different types of
cell cycles. The cell cycle is a sequence of events that makeup the life of a typical eukaryotic cell,
from the moment of its origin, to the time it divides to produce two daughter cells. Interphase
starts off the cell cycle and it is the longest stage in the cell cycle. Most cells spend 90% or more
of their life span in interphase. Interphase is divided into three main phases G0, G1, S, and G2
phases. This portion of the cell cycle takes in nutrients; manufactures proteins and other
substances, expands in size, and conducts special functions which depend on the cell type. The
G1 phase is the first phase in the life of a newborn cell, and is known as the gap 1 phase. The S
phase is the phase that follows the G1 phase. In this phase, cells that are destined to divide,
preparations for cell division begin during the S phase. The s in this phase stands for synthesis .
This phase is responsible for replication of the cell s DNA, and this is one of the most important
responsibilities performed in this phase. G2 phase occurs after the S phase but before the start
of cell division. The G2 phase is known as the gap 2 phase. The G1 phase, S phase, and G2
phase, each make up the parts of interphase. Cell division is the last stage in the life of an
individual cell. As cell division begins, the cell contains twice the amount of DNA because of
DNA replication in the S phase. The G0

Are Nuclear Fusion Good Or Bad
To understand how and why nuclear weapons cause so much disaster and pain, it is first necessary
to understand how they work. There are two types of nuclear bomb: fission and fusion. What is
fission? Well, everything in the world is made up of atoms. Atoms are made up of a nucleus, which
consists of a ball of protons and neutrons, and electrons, which orbit the nucleus. Fission is the
process by which atoms are hit with neutrons and split into lighter atoms. In this process, the huge
amount of binding energy which holds the protons and neutrons of the nucleus together is released,
and pieces of the nucleus fly apart with enormous energy called radioactivity. This energy is turned
into heat, which vaporizes all nearby material. When the inventors realized how frighteningly
powerful their discovery could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyhow, using their new knowledge of fission, scientists set to work and created a fission bomb. In
the fission bomb, neutrons are purposefully given energy. They naturally collide with atoms, which
fission, or split apart, and release two or three more neutrons and a lot of energy. These extra
neutrons run into other atoms, causing them to fission and repeat the process. This starts a chain
reaction. Every time the number of fissions doubles, it is called a generation. When the number of
neutrons produced in one generation of fissions equals the fissions in the next, critical mass is
attained. Because some neutrons are lost or absorbed, the chain reaction can only be maintained
when there is critical mass. A frightening fact about the fission bomb is that each new generation
has as much energy in it as all the generations before it put together. Thus, every moment after the
chain reaction has started, the bomb becomes twice as dangerous as the moment before. Although
they are operated differently, uranium and plutonium bombs both use

The Wicked Witch and Snow White
Edith Wharton presents two memorable characters in her novel, Ethan Frome. The reader is
presented with Mattie Silver who is young, and good natured, and Zeena Frome, who is a bitter
hypochondriac seven years her husband s senior. Upon a first inspection, Zeena Frome and Mattie
Silver of Edith Wharton s Ethan Frome seem to be extreme opposites in every respect, but upon
closer scrutiny, one finds though they are indeed different in character, though they eventually
share great similarities. Zeena and Mattie s differences in appearance and character, but similarity
of fate, all contribute to the theme of the novel which is that one cannot escape the social class one

Within the first five chapters, Edith Wharton establishes the stark physical differences between
young, gay Mattie Silver and unattractive, gloomy Zeena Frome.
Mattie and Zeena differ in character as much as they differ in appearance. A great hobby of
Zenna s was to find faults with others, though her fault finding was of the silent kind, but not the
less penetrating for that. Zeena also had an obstinate silence that frightened Mattie as well as
her husband. Ethan s wife was also a great cause of irritation for him: When she spoke, it was
only to complain, and to complain of things not in his power to remedy. Of late... her silence had
begun to trouble him... and wondered if Zeena was turning queer. At other times her silence
seemed deliberately assumed to conceal far reaching intentions, mysterious conclusions drawn
from suspicions and resentments impossible to guess. Zeen was a woman turned bitter by too
much strife and too little reward. The location of the farm isolated her from her neighbors, so she
rarely could socialize with others. Having nothing better to do, Zeena gives her own health
fanatical attention. She is occupied constantly with new pills, stomach powders and books on
diseases of the liver. Mattie Silver, however, was still young and full of hope and joy. Her small lot
of suffering had just enough to give her a sense of appreciation

Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder(GAD) is much more than the normal anxiety people experience
everyday. It is a chronic condition that is chracterized by excessive worry and anxiety, even though
there aren t any reasonable explanations for the cause. It is diagnosed when a person spends a least
6 months worrying excessively about numerous everyday problems. People who suffer from GAD

They frequently suffer from insomnia and chronic fatigue. Concentration is difficult because they
are easily startled and agitated. They remain in a constant state of arousal. People afflicted with
GAD don t necessarily avoid particular situations because of their disorder. They are unlike
individuals who suffer from more severe types of anxiety disorders such as panic disorder and
severe phobias. If the impairment from GAD is mild, they are usually able to work and function in
most social events. When the impairment is more severe, it can be debilitating making it almost
unbearable to perform simple daily activities.
Approximately 4 million Americans suffer from GAD, about 2.8% of the U.S. adult population
between the ages of 18 54. GAD usually strikes in childhood or adolescence, but can begin in
adulthood.(2) It affects women more often than men. The reason that females have higher rates
than males for most anxiety disorders has not been clearly identified. Research suggests that the
role of gonadal steroids in women may be a contributing factor for their higher rate of anxiety
disorders. Women also experience a wider range of stressful life events as compared to men, who
react to a more limited range of stressful life events. Other researchers think GAD may be
transferred through genes.(3)

Persuasive Letter On Social Justice
Dear Ms. Haynes, As you may know, the fight towards social justice has been going on long
enough. Through recent events such as taking a knee during the national anthem or the white
supremacist rallies; tension has grown to new heights. Although it may be difficult to fight the
issue of social justice within our divided nation, I believe there is a solution that could help build a
foundation towards equality. An issue that isn t often highlighted is how troubled youth will find
themselves in trouble with the law at a young age and end up being reincarcerated within a vicious
cycle of bad behavior with no positive influences. Another issue that I would like to discuss is food
insecurity within the United States. Primarily in big cities, food insecurity is a problem that
must be addressed in order to provide a healthy future for our community as a whole. A solution I
ve come up with is able to tackle both of these issues head on and hopefully provide a healthier
and safer community for us Colorado residence. It has come to me that the youth that finds
themselves lost within our court systems have not necessarily had the proper influences to allow
them to be productive members of our society. This is why I propose that these teens should be
given a second chance by offering them the chance to help out their community and provide work
for the community gardens in the struggling places of the Denver Metro area. Given your title as

Autophagy Research Paper
Autophagy is a evolutionarily conserved essential proteostasis and catabolic membrane trafficking
process that has close associations with health and longevity [10, 11]. It maintains cellular
homeostasis and viability by regulating the quantity and quality of cytoplasmic constituents such as
organelles and macromolecules through lysosomal degradation, which is activated in response to
nutrient starvation and other stressors to generate energy and allow survival [12]. Autophagy plays
vital roles by self degrading under a variety of physiological and pathological conditions such as
maintaining the stem cellquiescent state [13], manipulating immunity [14], regulating bone growth
[15], carcinogenesis [16 18] and cell metabolism [18]. Importantly, Autophagy directly targets
pathogenic misfolded AОІ for degradation [19]. Chemical that enhances autophagy was shown to
be capable of restoring nesting behavior in a murine model of Alzheimer disease [20]. Extensive

Analysis of Transcript
Analysis of Transcript Young Ones Introduction: I have chosen to analyse the beginning of the
first episode in the first series of the 80 s TV comedy The Young Ones . This particular text
appeals to me because it is important in how it introduces the characters, as this is the first time the
audience ever meet them. Relative Status: Rick and Neil are both students living in the same house;
therefore their status should be equal though both are striving for dominance. Rick is defiantly the
more dominant of the two, due to his extrovert personality. Both characters are self centred, for
instance, at the beginning of the scene; Neil delivers a monologue where he talks about himself...

This is denoted by the way Neil talks to himself or arguably the audience, about what is going
on. His frequent use of fillers such as right and like emphasize the chatty, personal speech and
helps make a scripted conversation flow like a natural one. These fillers also make Neil more
real and human; this helps the audience to relate to him. This is especially important as the
character of Neil is arguably there to be sympathised with. When Rick is discussing his poem
about Cliff Richard, Neil is talking about how he is going to kill himself, this is an attempt to
change the topic of conversation, however he fails as Rick is the dominant speaker. Thus, two
separate conversations run parallel with each other. Lexis: The lexis within my transcript is
informal, conversational and often colloquial. For example words such as eh , huh , yeah and
gonna are examples of conversational lexis. There are also examples of clichГ©d hippy lexis
used by Neil, such as man , heavy , karma and suss out , these form the semantic field of
spiritualists, which reinforce stereotypical ideas about students and hippies . Rick s poem displays
many typical features of a poem, with the use of rhyme and repetition. For example, the rhyming
of as if and a cliff immediately allows the audience to recognise that it is a poem. The poem

things that we will never use in life. I think this article is similar to the other articles we have read,
but uses a different tone to express it. The other articles we have read were based off the education
system also. Many of the articles were against the system, just as Dave Barry is. The other articles
we read were more persuasive and informative, than an argument. They contained more evidence
and facts. Davy Barry did not have facts in his article, but opinions.

ECT Should Be Used in Psychiatric Treatment
In contemporary psychiatry worldwide, Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) continues to be useful.
However, researchers, the general public and practitioners have not yet understood this therapy.
Controversies continue to surround the application of this therapy, especially the long term
consequences of its legality and use in the management of some severe major depression,
schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and mental illness. Particularly, a few mental health service users
report adverse effects that are associated with ECT for instance, severe memory loss. Some
researchers claim that the Electroconvulsive therapy is the utmost controversial treatment in the
field of psychiatry. Arguably, ECT should be used in physiatrist treatment.
Randomized Controlled Trial (RCTs) demonstrates that the use of ECT is effectual when treating
major depression. However, it quickly resolves all mental problems. When controlled in a setting
that is safe, the treatment becomes comfortable. Some researchers argue that Genuine ECT is more
effective in treating acute treatment caused by depression rather than sham ECT. In addition, ECT
is also more effective in comparison with standard antidepressant medication treatment (Sienaert 8).
Clinical trials that compare ECT with optimal pharmacotherapy are yet to be conducted. There is no
evidence that demonstrates the ECT effectiveness in the treatment of Schizophrenia. Genuine ECT

how the music/ piece is counted) and combines with the drum that emphasises on beat 3 creating a
unique feel.

The Emphasis is entirely on the 3rd beat of the bar.
(Usually on the snare, or a rim shot combined with the bass drum).
Bob Marley One Drop is a perfect example of this beat
Rockers :
Another style of drumming is called Rockers which was invented by the Drum and Bass duo (Sly
and Robbie). This style emphasises on the bass drum being played on the 1st and 3rd beat instead
of just the 3rd alone. Everything else is consistent with the One Drop style.

It plays a similar beat to that of the guitar.
An emphasis can be found on the 1st and 3rd beat of the bar.
At times, counter rhythms can be played over the beat, but the 1st and 3rd beat are always
noticeable.
Steppers :
The last common reggae drumming style is called Steppers . This is when the beat includes the
bass drum hit on all 4 quarter notes, creating a stronger driving pulse. This style has a stronger
sound than Rockers with an even stronger beat.
It is probably the most simple of the beats.
Its defining characteristics are a solid 1 2 3 4 of the bass drum.
A good example of the Steppers beat can be found through a piece by Bob Marley, titled: Exodus .

Write An Essay On Asphalt Pavement

Inexperienced ones, however, can set the blade too low, resulting in gouges in the pavement.
Results: In addition to marring the pavement s appearance, tearing out chunks of asphalt can give
water another way to penetrate beneath the pavement
Prevention: Hire a professional who has experience with the machine that will be used to clear your
parking lot
Chemicals Used to Melt Ice
Chemical deicers and salt can take a heavy toll on asphalt that is already beginning to deteriorate
as well as asphalt pavement that is not protected by sealcoating. Traditional rock salt usually will
not be effective at temperatures below 15 degrees, increasing the chances of water penetration when
the melted ice refreezes and thaws again.
Results: Larger cracks, potential alligator cracking, potholes
Prevention: If you must use a deicing chemical, consider choosing calcium magnesium acetate,
calcium chloride or magnesium chloride. If possible, use sand

Basically, a collective decision is made to reduce or increase pricing in the industry without companies specifically meeting to do so. In the global market, the automobile industry is competitive and creates opportunities to increase production along with establishing operations in other countries throughout the world. The ability to sustain a level of profits will be a challenge. With fluctuating market pricing, market share of the automobile industry can be increased or reduced. In some cases, making a significant price reduction can eliminate a competitor from the industry, which can result in long term profits. Merger Activity The automobile industry has a long history of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and alliances. In 1904 Ford Motor Company partnered with a Canadian carriage maker. However, Hellenism was the blending of different cultures, like Egyptian, Persian, Indian and the Greeks, that would bring diversity to these conquered lands. A city becoming Hellenised meant that the locals had come into contact with the Greeks and knowledge of the Greek culture, language and literature. However, there were Jews who liked the idea of the Greek culture, and adopted parts of the Greek culture into their own culture. The more traditional Jews found the Greeks offensive, with men strutting around naked in the gyms for all to see, and it was against the Jewish laws to be seen naked. Because of their nakedness the Jews could also see that some men were uncircumcised, which was again offensive to the Jewish society for they considered them as unclean and impure. Eventually they rebelled against the Hellenistic way due to Antiochus IV stealing from their sacred temple and forcing the Jewish people to make sacrifices to the Pagan Gods. The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five Forces Framework has ... However, giving up drinking is difficult and can bring several symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. To treat this problem, acamprosate, 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid, is used as a medication with a common brand name, Campral. Acamprosate is a small moleculethat has a molecular weight about 181.21 g/mol. Its molecular formula is C5H11NO4S and is named as 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid or N acetyl homotaurine. The main function of acamprosate is re balancing the chemicals in the brain. Before alcoholconsumption, human brain retains a balance of chemicals called neurotransmitters. When the intake of alcohol is repeated, the brain alters the balance and turns to adapt to that chemical changes, and finally, this will be lead to tolerance and addiction of alcohol. The first one was the proclamation of 1763. The second one that stands out was the stamp act of 1765 by King George III. Finally, in 1770 the horrendous murder of colonist was known as the Boston massacre. Parliament issued the proclamation of 1763 also known as the proclamation line. This infuriated the colonist by restricting land movement from going west of the Appalachian Mountains. • 9. Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it can because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit of happiness. Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience, medical help for loved ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t need money to be happy and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is used for buying, giving, and having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot of people have money so there chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol Psy. D, a researcher and writes about mental health psychologyand technology issues, states, Money can buy you happinessas long as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience rather than buying a product because as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown that we are generally happier when we spend money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can buy you happiness because it changes our mood and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also concord with John when saying we should give some money away. • 10. Marx Alienation Marx s theory on species being and estranged labour. The theory of alienation by Karl Marx describes the act of estrangement of persons beginning from those characteristics of their species essence in place of a magnitude of existence in a society or community of stratified collective classes. The isolation from oneself is generally as a result of being an automatic part of the communal class (Meszaros, pg 54). Philosophically, this theory depends s upon the essence of Christianity which was described by Ludwig Feuerbach. Marx further extended this theory of Ludwig by stating that even the idea of humanity is also an alienating perception for people to logically deliberate in its complete metaphysical implication (Meszaros, pg 57). In his work of 1844, Marx explained alienation in the following way: In any capitalist society, the isolation of employed workers from their humanity is believed to occur because the only thing that a worker can express is labour (Meszaros, pg 59). This is a significant societal facet of particular eccentricity through a privatised system of industrial production where every employee is considered a thing but not a person. The following are the four types of alienation that normally exist to a worker who is labouring under a capitalist form of industrial production: 1. The disaffection of workers from their respective products. Here, Marx explained that product designs and how it is manufactured are determined by capitalist classes who part ... • 11. A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper will briefly discuss identitytheory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and the differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we behave in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child identifies as a mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in accordance with the social standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the self is based on multiple roles; the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis player. In identity theory terms, these are called role identities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. Dante And Chaucer Research Paper Danielle Rose English 192 Prof. J. Perl Dante and Chaucer Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer are both amongst the most celebrated authors in history. Each of their respective tomes, The Divine Comedy and The Canterbury Tales, have had untold influence on literature and language. Dante and Chaucer both wrote their masterpieces in the vernacular of their day, a revolutionary concept for their time, which helped shape language and strengthen the word of the laymen, popularizing the use of vernacular literature. Both stories even have a loosely similar structure of a guided pilgrimage, with the authors inserted as characters. However, the way in which Dante and Chaucer each write themselves into their stories is vastly different. Dante wrote his Divine Comedy after a politically motivated exile from Florence, starting c. 1308 up until his death in 1321. In it, he recounts the allegorical tale of his journey to Heaven through the nine circles of Hell, guided by Virgil. Originally titled The Comedy, (later changed to The Divine... Grossly exaggerated and abundant in all the clichГ©s of the romance, the tale is clearly a satire of the genre and all who read it. The tale is so successfully over done, that the host becomes so wery of thy verray lewednesse and interrupts the story, a true romantic burlesque. Chloroplast are not only vital in providing food for plant life, they are essential regulating and producing molecules for the cell. Once thought to function on their own chloroplast have their own DNA and many unique characterizes. While much has been discovered about the chloroplast there are still many unanswered questions and useful applications for these tiny organelles. INTRODUCTION Chloroplasts are very interesting organelles, thought to have once been independently functioning cells. It is believed that they were once cyanobacteria floating around in the primordial soup. These bacteria underwent respiration on their own in the absence of molecular oxygen until the ozone layer was formed and oxygen gas could exist on earth. Once this occurred, eukaryotic organisms started to flourish and they engulfed the bacteria. Once the bacteria were engulfed these prokaryotic organisms over time with evolution became what we now know today as the chloroplast. • 18. The Human Body s Defense System The immune system is our body s defense system it is vital to our body s health and survival. We need the immune system to fight off bacteria, viruses, and other foreign, harmful substances as well as our own cells that have become bad or even cancerous. There are several building blocks that make up the system as a whole, each just as important as the next, that work hand in hand. This includes the lymphatic system, biological molecules, antibodies, white blood cells, the tonsils, thymus, bone marrow, and the spleen. The tonsils and thymus both create antibodies, while bone marrow (among other things) creates white blood cells, which are crucial to fighting off infection. The lymphatic system carries waste as well as nutrients, and lymph fluid throughout the body in the blood stream. The lymph nodes act as a strainer or filter, so when the lymph fluid travels through, it traps virus s, bacteria, and any other substance that s foreign to your body. These things are then destroyed by lymphocytes, which are specialized white blood cells. The spleen, which also works as a filter, gets rid of aged or damaged platelets and blood cells, and also destroys bacteria and other harmful or foreign substances. • 26. Muscle Protein Synthesis As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino acids are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step. Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the musclecell. Here, transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order... Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other methods. • 28. Later Model Of God Research Paper There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything. The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc. Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It points out two things. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior and knows what is happening. It is a remake of the 1959 version of Ben Hur, which was directed by William Wyler and cinematography by Robert L. Surtees. This story follows Judah Ben Hur in his fight against revenge and forgiveness. Ben Hur and his brother Messala both have to make choices that will affect their friendship and trust in one another. Each of these movies are a rendition of the book Ben Hur, written by Lew Wallace. Although they are based on the same story, there are many differences between the two movies. Some of the differences are the addition of the character, Gestas, and the different style in which they were written. The addition of the character Gestas in the 2016 movie is a major change in the story. In the 1959 version, the tile falls off the roof of Ben Hur s house and he and his family are accused of trying to kill the new governor of Judea. This incident is rather unrealistic and does not provide Judah with an alibi. The addition of this new character also adds more emotion to the film and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does a better job at making the viewers feel the emotion of what Judah and the other slaves were going through. Another obvious change is the representation of Jesus. In the 1959 version, Jesus does not have a speaking part, some may believed that this payed more respect to him. In the 2016 version we get to see more of him as he plays a bigger role. Suicide And Suicide Interventions On The Drink Of Suicide Helping individuals suffering from suicidal ideations and attempts at self harm calls upon a social worker s ethical obligation to service. According to the NASW Code of Ethics, social workers primary goal is to help people in need and address social problems (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). A way to fulfill this duty is by giving first responders the tools necessary to adequately talk with people in crisis and on the brink of suicide. Considered a preventable cause of death, suicide is a major public health concern in many industrial and post industrial countries, and one of the three leading causes of death worldwide among individuals from 15 to 44 years of age (Hoy, Natarajan, Petra, 2016). Often times individuals in crisis will come in contact with first responders either by contacting emergency services themselves or from a call placed by a family member or concerned citizen. According to research by Gould et al. (2013), to address the global tragedy of nearly one million deaths by suicide worldwide, public health interventions with widespread capacity to reach at risk populations are needed (Gould et al., 2013). One way to attain this goal is by training dispatchers, law enforcement officers, paramedics, and firefighters on the current evidence based practices for suicidal crisis intervention. • 32. Different Types Of Cell Cycle Chapter five primarily covers information about cells, cell division, and the different types of cell cycles. The cell cycle is a sequence of events that makeup the life of a typical eukaryotic cell, from the moment of its origin, to the time it divides to produce two daughter cells. Interphase starts off the cell cycle and it is the longest stage in the cell cycle. Most cells spend 90% or more of their life span in interphase. Interphase is divided into three main phases G0, G1, S, and G2 phases. This portion of the cell cycle takes in nutrients; manufactures proteins and other substances, expands in size, and conducts special functions which depend on the cell type. The G1 phase is the first phase in the life of a newborn cell, and is known as the gap 1 phase. The S phase is the phase that follows the G1 phase. In this phase, cells that are destined to divide, preparations for cell division begin during the S phase. The s in this phase stands for synthesis . This phase is responsible for replication of the cell s DNA, and this is one of the most important responsibilities performed in this phase. G2 phase occurs after the S phase but before the start of cell division. The G2 phase is known as the gap 2 phase. The G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase, each make up the parts of interphase. Cell division is the last stage in the life of an individual cell. As cell division begins, the cell contains twice the amount of DNA because of DNA replication in the S phase. The G0 ... • 33. Are Nuclear Fusion Good Or Bad To understand how and why nuclear weapons cause so much disaster and pain, it is first necessary to understand how they work. There are two types of nuclear bomb: fission and fusion. What is fission? Well, everything in the world is made up of atoms. Atoms are made up of a nucleus, which consists of a ball of protons and neutrons, and electrons, which orbit the nucleus. Fission is the process by which atoms are hit with neutrons and split into lighter atoms. In this process, the huge amount of binding energy which holds the protons and neutrons of the nucleus together is released, and pieces of the nucleus fly apart with enormous energy called radioactivity. This energy is turned into heat, which vaporizes all nearby material. When the inventors realized how frighteningly powerful their discovery could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyhow, using their new knowledge of fission, scientists set to work and created a fission bomb. In the fission bomb, neutrons are purposefully given energy. They naturally collide with atoms, which fission, or split apart, and release two or three more neutrons and a lot of energy. These extra neutrons run into other atoms, causing them to fission and repeat the process. This starts a chain reaction. Every time the number of fissions doubles, it is called a generation. When the number of neutrons produced in one generation of fissions equals the fissions in the next, critical mass is attained. Because some neutrons are lost or absorbed, the chain reaction can only be maintained when there is critical mass. A frightening fact about the fission bomb is that each new generation has as much energy in it as all the generations before it put together. Thus, every moment after the chain reaction has started, the bomb becomes twice as dangerous as the moment before. Although they are operated differently, uranium and plutonium bombs both use ... Through recent events such as taking a knee during the national anthem or the white supremacist rallies; tension has grown to new heights. Although it may be difficult to fight the issue of social justice within our divided nation, I believe there is a solution that could help build a foundation towards equality. An issue that isn t often highlighted is how troubled youth will find themselves in trouble with the law at a young age and end up being reincarcerated within a vicious cycle of bad behavior with no positive influences. Another issue that I would like to discuss is food insecurity within the United States. Primarily in big cities, food insecurity is a problem that must be addressed in order to provide a healthy future for our community as a whole. A solution I ve come up with is able to tackle both of these issues head on and hopefully provide a healthier and safer community for us Colorado residence. It has come to me that the youth that finds themselves lost within our court systems have not necessarily had the proper influences to allow them to be productive members of our society. Autophagy Research Paper Autophagy is a evolutionarily conserved essential proteostasis and catabolic membrane trafficking process that has close associations with health and longevity [10, 11]. It maintains cellular homeostasis and viability by regulating the quantity and quality of cytoplasmic constituents such as organelles and macromolecules through lysosomal degradation, which is activated in response to nutrient starvation and other stressors to generate energy and allow survival [12]. Autophagy plays vital roles by self degrading under a variety of physiological and pathological conditions such as maintaining the stem cellquiescent state [13], manipulating immunity [14], regulating bone growth [15], carcinogenesis [16 18] and cell metabolism [18]. When Rick is discussing his poem about Cliff Richard, Neil is talking about how he is going to kill himself, this is an attempt to change the topic of conversation, however he fails as Rick is the dominant speaker. Thus, two separate conversations run parallel with each other. Lexis: The lexis within my transcript is informal, conversational and often colloquial.
