Pro Con Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Pro Con Essays" can present both challenges and opportunities
for the writer. On one hand, the structured format of presenting arguments in favor and against a
particular subject provides a clear framework. However, the difficulty lies in maintaining a
balanced perspective, ensuring that both sides are thoroughly explored and supported with
credible evidence.
The initial hurdle is often the selection of a compelling topic that has enough depth to warrant a
thorough analysis of pros and cons. Once the topic is chosen, the writer must delve into
extensive research to gather relevant information and viewpoints. This process demands time and
effort to sift through various sources, including academic articles, books, and reputable websites,
to compile a well-rounded understanding of the subject.
Organizing the essay effectively is another challenge. Striking the right balance between
presenting arguments in favor and against while maintaining a coherent flow can be demanding.
Careful consideration must be given to the structure, ensuring that each point is articulated
clearly and logically. Transitioning smoothly between pros and cons is crucial to engage the
reader and make the essay persuasive.
Moreover, maintaining objectivity throughout the essay is essential. It requires the writer to set
aside personal biases and present arguments impartially, relying on evidence and reason. This can
be a delicate task, as the writer must resist the temptation to favor one side over the other.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Pro Con Essays" demands meticulous research,
thoughtful organization, and a commitment to objectivity. It challenges the writer to explore
various perspectives, analyze evidence, and present a nuanced view on the chosen subject. While
the process can be demanding, it offers a valuable opportunity to hone critical thinking and
analytical skills.

The Syncretism Of Buddhist And Daoist Religious Practices
The Syncretism of Buddhist and Daoist Religious Practices upon their Initial
Interactions in China Looking throughout history, there are many instances in which
cultures and ideologies mirror biological and scientific phenomena. Often ideas will
propagate much like a species would in certain environments. Like Darwin s finches,
notions regarding religion, culture, or any other system of thought, struggle to
survive through competition with other systems of ideas. Instead of having offspring
that are able to survive longer, these ideologies will fight for converts to further the
spread of their beliefs. But in nature it is rare that two species will actually come to
learn how to live with each other, and adapt to become stronger from their interaction.
Much like when Buddhismimmigrated to China, carrying ideals similar to the native
Daoist principles, the interaction between the two religions triggered a drastic change
in both. This syncretism occurred on account of the competition in the Chinese
environment. Specifically, both held similar beliefs, which caused the two to fall
into direct competition. In particular, the entry of Buddhism in China was
accomplished by way of using Daoist principles and former Daoist to spread their
beliefs, which immediately impacted Buddhism by means of its translation. The early
success of Buddhism in China forced Daoism to either adapt or become extinct. This
interaction between the two caused both to adapt and develop similar religious
Key Challenges Faced By Tata Motors
1.What are the key challenges faced by Tata Motors in the process of moving to
produce passenger cars from successfully producing commercial vehicles?
Ans: Tata Motors was a leading player in the segment of commercial vehicle market.
In 1954 Tata Motors in collaboration with Daimler Benz started manufacturing heavy
commercial vehicles like excavators and earth moving equipment s. When Japanese
firms Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan entered the Indian market through joint ventures
for manufacturing light motor vehicles, Tata Motors took this opportunity and
developed light motor vehicles (TATA 407, TATA 608, and TATA 709) that went
ahead of the Japanese firms due to low cost, adaptable to Indian road conditions and
good after sales service.
For extending their market Ratan Tata decided to manufacture small cars in

In order to focus on the international car market they need to have world class
standards. They should be competent enough like managing the supply chain so that
they could integrate products and services both upstream and downstream
They should be able manage their alliances in a proper way to extend their market
globally without much using its resources.
The most challenging part is bringing the components together and integrating it with
the manufacturing operations since most of the automakers are doing away with
their business of assembling components.
Tata Motors have to take their decision whether to make or buy for the key inputs i.e,
design, engine and transmission.
Although different measures were taken by Tata Motors for their product design,

How Does Walt Kowalski Show Guilt
Guilt can be all consuming. It can slowly creep into a person s life and leave them
emotionally crippled towards others, and even towards themselves. In the film
Gran Torino Walt Kowalski carries guilt and burden from the things he had to do
during his years in the Korean War. He is plagued by loss and memories with the
effects of war but, more than that, he also battles with his personal war. He
searches for redemption, even if it is unconscious. He knows that he made choices
that would allow him to survive, however killing others brought on feelings of
guilt; guilt he carried since 1952. He carried this guilt for so long and it lead to
remorse, this is what allowed him to search for redemption. As the plot develops,

Treatment Options For Schizophreni Symptoms And

Treatment
Through time, scientists and doctors have created various treatment options for
schizophrenia based off scientific theories in their time. At one point physicians
would perform brain surgery to remove a portion of brain from an individual
suffering with schizophrenia that was responsible for the hallucinations and
delusions the individual would experience. Although the surgery might have
decreased the amount of hallucinations and delusions experienced by the individual,
it led to cognitive and emotional deficits that would impair the individual (Nolen
Hoeksema, 2014).
At another point in time individuals who suffered from schizophrenia were introduced

Later, other classes of typical antipsychotic drugs were used for treatment of
schizophrenia, such as butyrophenones and thioxanthones. These drugs were
effective methods that transformed the treatment of schizophrenia and decreased the
number of hospitalized individuals suffering from the disorder by half. However,
twenty five percent of those suffering from the disorder were unresponsive to the
antipsychotic drugs (Adams, C. E., Awad, G. A., Rathbone, J., Thornley, B., Soares
Weiser, K., 2014). The typical antipsychotic drugs worked best at treating the positive
symptoms of schizophrenia but did nothing to treat the negative symptoms of the
disorder (which are the lack of motivation and deficit in interpersonal skills). If
individuals with schizophrenia discontinue the medication, a total of seventy eight
percent will relapse within a year and ninety six percent within two years (Gitlin, M.,
Nuechterlein, K., Subotnik, K. L., Ventura, J., Mintz, J., Fogelson, D. L., . . .

The Lost History Of Christianity By Philip Jenkins
In the novel title The Lost History of Christianity , author Philip Jenkins attempts to
convey the message that there are many aspects of Christianity that are unknown to
Christian followers today. Jenkins start by implying that Christianity essentially starts
in Northern Mesopotamia. Jenkins then traces the history of Christianityfrom Africa
to the Arab world to the heart of Asia, in what he consider to be the golden age of
Christianity. He informs the readers of the stories of churches and movements that
thrived over a millennium and then largely died out, though there are remnants of
these churches here and there, spread across different parts of the world. Jenkins is a
firm believer that Westerners are blinded by the impression the Christianity began in
Europe and Northern America, and believe that in some ways they are superior
among other religions. Jenkins suggest, When they think about Christian history,
most modern Westerners follow the book of Acts in concentrating on the church s
expansion west, through Greece and the Mediterranean world, and on to Rome. But
while some early Christians were indeed moving west, many other believers
probably in greater numbers journeyed east along the land routes, through what we
today call Iraq and Iran, where they built great and enduring churches. Because of its
location close to Roman frontier, but just far enough beyond it to avoid heavy handed
interference Mesopotamia or Iraq retained a powerful terms of the number and

inverse regioisomeric 1 acyl 3 alkylindoles can be prepared directly from a
common set of precursor materials and using similar synthetic strategies. The EI
mass spectra for these isomers show a number of unique ions which allow for the
differentiation of the 1 alkyl 3 acylindole compounds from the inverse
regioisomeric 1 acyl 3 alkylindoles. The base peak at m/z 214 in the 1 n pentyl 3
benzoylindole represents the M 77 cation fragment resulting from the loss of the
phenyl group and this ion is not observed in the inverse isomer. The 1 benzoyl 3 n
pentylindole inverse regioisomer shows a base peak at m/z 105 for the benzoyl
cation. Thus, these two base peaks are the result of fragmentation initiated at the
carbonyl oxygen for both isomers. The 1 pentyl 3 benzoylindole is characterized by
the strong intensity carbonyl band at 1703 cm 1 while the amide carbonyl appears as
a strong band of equal intensity at 1681 cm 1 in the 1 benzoyl 3 pentyl regioisomer. 1.

Effect Of Potential Energy On Roller Coasters
I.Science Fair Question
How does height (rise) and the loop radius influence the conversion of potential
energy to kinetic energy using a model roller coaster track?
II.Background Research
Did you ever wonder how a roller coaster works? Why does one roller coaster go
faster than another at certain points on the ride? This paper will discuss how
potential energy turns into kinetic energy at different points along the track of a roller
coaster. The important terms that will be discussed are potential energy (stored
energy), kinetic energy (energy of motion), gravitational potential energy (GPE), and
conservation of energy (basic law of physics).
Potential energy (PE) is the energy possessed by a body as a result of its position or
condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the absence of change in the amount a physical quantity, such as mass, during a
physical or chemical transformation (The American Heritage Student Science
Dictionary 80). In physics, conservation of energy cannot be made and it cannot be
ruined (Roller Coaster Marbles: Converting Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy).
Conservation of energy stays the same, the value doesn t change. Some types of
energy include kinetic, potential, gravitational potential, and heat. They can change
into different systems, but the value won t change as long as it has conservation of
energy. Conservation of energy itself and conservation of mechanical energy are two
types of energy. Conservation of mechanical energy is easier to understand and
calculate, but it only happens when everything is conserved (What is Conservation of

Role Of Nationalism In Italian Unification
ITALIAN UNIFICATION (1848 1870)
Nationalism is sovereignty of people and emotional attachment to the nation.
Nationalism stands for loyalty to a nation through collective consciousness of shared
history, language, race, values, culture and traditions. Nationalism has five stages and
the second stage is unification i.e. people united in a nation.
Most significant unifications are Italian and German unification, in this essay I will
focus on the Italian unification. The research question that I will be answering
throughout the essay is: How did nationalism play a role in Italian unification?

Abstract
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning are the processes that help
organizations to prepare for the disruptive events that may occur. Disaster recovery
events in the past were designed to provide backup options for centralized data
centers. Today the disaster recovery plans are focused on integrated business
continuity.
The plan for Disaster recovery audit, maintenance and continuous improvement
should include the establishment of the process for keeping disaster recovery plans
and associated activities updated, auditing and reviewing the plans to ensure that they
remain fit for the purpose and consistent with the applicable standards and
management controls and establishing a process for the continuous improvement of
the disaster recovery program.
The report will focus on the importance of Disaster recovery and Business Continuity
Planning in Today s fast changing and Technology driven business environment audit
of the DR/BCP plans.

Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay
Physics of an Acoustic Guitar
I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he
has made it look so easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar players have
progressed with the technology of electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an
acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just me, I hear his love for me in the
sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class conveyed to me
that there was much more to his playing than I had imagined.
The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the
physics of the acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable distinctions are the
result of various wavelengths and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more

An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest
amplitude below the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and two antinodes. On a
fixed string, nodes are created at both ends, so the fundamental, or longest,
wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the length of the guitar string.
Harmonics are determined by whole number multiples of the fundamental
wavelength. 3 They can vary in speed and have any number of wavelengths that can
be generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full
wavelength and have two nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would
add an additional half of a wavelength to the string.
The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different
frequencies from the guitar. The frequency is the number of wavelengths that occur
per second. The equation is set up as the frequency equals the speed of the waves
divided by the wavelength, or f = u В§ l . Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) and
humans can generally hear between 20Hz and 20,000Hz, depending on the individual.
The various frequencies formed on a guitar are attributed to the difference in the
strings on the guitar. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top, are: E, B, G,
D, A, and E. Their fundamental frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz,
246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and
Cakeout Dagoie Saloon Analysis
The piece Stakeout by The Tango Saloon effectively uses instrumentation, harmony
and rhythm to convey character in the song.
The prominent use of organ in the piece contributes to the songs tense, foreboding
character. The dissonance created by the organ and the use of a rotary speaker creates
a thick, unnatural and disturbing timbre. The character of the song is also conveyed
using auxiliary percussion. The ostinato arpeggio played on the xylophone in the
chorus, along with the tubular bell strikes, shakers and heavy toms convey this
character.
The use of harmony in the piece is one of the main elements that creates character in
the piece. The song focuses heavily on the harmony associated with the ii chord in the
song s key of C minor;

Critique Of Sigmund Freud s Psychoosexual Development

Psychosexual Development Theory
Sigmund Freud s psychosexual development theory states the role of parents with the
basic sexual desires of children in developing their personalities. This theory is
concerned on the sexual pleasure received from specific body parts and sexual
activities. Ku, (2011) argues with Freud s recommendation on encouraging children s
tendencies stating that parents will try to guide children toward moderation in all
things.
Children who complete these stages successfully, grow to be calm and well centered
adults (Ku,

However, poor sexual relationships, feeling on inadequacy and guilt about sexuality
are also developed due to fixations at this stage.
Critiques on Psychosexual Development Theory
Though this theory is being criticized, it is still important because many other
theories are based on this. According to Ku (2011), Freud s theory helped scientists to
have a further look into human behavior development. The major critique on this
theory is that this theory is more focused on human sexuality. Cherry (n.d.) states four
major critiques to Freud s theory as follows:
п‚· Freud was believed to have worked with troubled adults in developing this theory,
rather than working with children,
п‚· Feminists criticize this theory as this is focused mainly on male development,
п‚· Freud s theory is difficult to test scientifically as concepts like libido cannot be
measured and tested, and
п‚· As there is a long time between childhood and adulthood, it cannot be said that
childhood experiences affects adult personality.
Conclusion
With much critics, psychosexual development theory is still considered important.

How Does Yeats Use Biblical Allusions In The Second
Coming
In The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats, the speaker explains to the reader
that the world around him is falling apart. The use of biblical allusions, chaotic
imagery, and symbols illustrate how the second coming is not going to be good;
things are terrible now, but the worst is yet to come. In the first two lines, the
speaker introduces a scene of chaos by saying TURNING and turning in the
widening gyre the falcon cannot hear the falconer. A gyre is a tornado like
structure, and it symbolizes history and how it is cyclical, which is how Yeats
himself viewed life. The fact that Yeats refers to history as a gyre shows that he
has a negative view of humanity. The speaker also mentions how the falcon does
not hear the falconer, which also illustrates how the world is crumbling. The next
two lines say Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed
upon the world. This solidifies the idea that the world is crumbling, and even
though the anarchy, or chaos, is small, there is definitely more to come. The
speaker then goes on to say that the blood dimmed tide is loosed, which is a biblical
allusion that represents God s vengeance for disobedience, and that the best lack all
conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity. This final phrase of the
first stanza proves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that he saw A shape with lion body and the head of a man, a gaze blank and pitiless

that Jesus may come, but there are possibly other
The Advantages Of The Accrual Concept In Accounting
The accrual concept in accounting represents the expenses and incomes that are made
in the period they take place, involving cash payments at the same time. The
advantage side of the accrual approach is that financial statements include all the
expenditures of the reported revenues for an accounting period. For instance when
business has cash flows, it checks the accrual accounting entries and writes the cash

accounting spheres, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and

Rhetorical Analysis Of Charles Chaplin s Speech By
Charlie...
The speech is about Charlie Chaplin don t want to be a emperor and rule or
conquer anyone. He want to be cool with everyone if it is possible. He said he don
t want to hurt no one feelings and he said there is plenty of space for people.
Charlie Chaplin said don t give yourselves to people if you don t want your stuff
out in the air. Fight for your lives to get no problem. In the passage he that not his
business to be a Emperor. Black or White will like to help each other when they are
down. He don t want to despise people feeling. He said we don t want to be mean to
everyone. He want everybody to live happy to each other. He don t want to be mean
to everyone. This evidence explains that Charlie Chaplin do not want to be mean to
anybody. He is a helpful man that want disturb no one when they are doing
something. He want to get out mess people put him in.He do not want to be the
dictator. He didn t want to let his business out to the world. Charlie Chaplin
audience is us because he wanted to talk to us about life. He was talking about he
don t want to be a emperor because that not his business and he have strong feeling
about how thing are going. He telling people do not give up on what you are doing
and don t fight for soldier fight for slavery for your life can be better to you and
your family. The audience want to learn that it is important to live for your
mistake and do what he told you to do.He said if we didn t have a quality life we
will be violent. The sound of Charlie Chaplin sound is a democracy call for the
citizen get to stand to fight the candidates around us and the dinner table. Some
stuff that He talk about is getting to personal that it s easy to forget what we
fighting for in the same country. The nation is fully busy in the politics of the
election. Charlie Chaplin had a fabulous embarrassing exaggeration. Charlie
Chaplin was example for the Hollywood Interview. Charlie had ran the Nazis off
by telling them that he was a Jewish.Charlie told them that he was a dictator and
they was extremely caution of picking sides for the war. Half of it was up to the
main people from the German market. I think Chaplin went with sound because he

What Does The Yellow Symbolize In The Great Gatsby

Literary Analysis Final Copy
16 April 2015
Symbolism in The Great Gatsby Symbolism prevails above all other things
throughout F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. The author s use of symbolism
creates many themes throughout the story. Some of the main themes recognized
throughout the story are those regarding lies and deceit, marriage, money, religion,
and isolation. The symbols creating these themes are represented with colors. The
author uses color throughout the story to symbolize deceit, innocence, envy,
lifelessness, and sadness.
The color yellow is used to symbolize deceit. Gatsby s yellow car is used to represent
his deceiving life. He wants everyone to perceive him as a well off, impressive ...

The color gray is used to describe the desolate valley of ashes, which then makes
anyone or anything else associated with the color gray lifeless as well. George
Wilson is described as being covered in ashen dust along with everything else in the
valley of ashes which suggests that he has lost hope in his marriage with Myrtle
and is depressed as a result. More than once, it is suggested that Dr. TJ Eckelburg s
eyes are the all seeing eyes of God. The association of Eckelburg to God may lead
readers to associate the valley of ashes to a place such as purgatory, where lifeless,
hopeless souls remain under the eyes of God, hoping to one day be freed. The
religious references made in the book obviously suggest that one of the themes is
religion or perhaps the lack of it. The only mention of God is in reference to eyes on
a billboard, which suggests that maybe the obsession with wealth and fortune has
surpassed the importance of
Sexual Harassment is NOT Tolerable Essay
According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sexual
harassment can be defined as unwelcome sexual advances, wishes for sexual favors,
and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment
when submission to or rejection of this conduct clearly or completely affects an
individual s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual s work routine
or creates a threatening, antagonistic or unpleasant work environment (EEOC, 2002).
The victim or harasser can either be a man or a woman, and sexual harassmentis not
always targeted to members of the opposite sex. Sufferers of sexual harassment in
the place of work can be subject to fear or anxiety, lower efficiency, a higher level of

To avoid sexual harassment s expensive penalty and diminish its occurrence,
employers need to recognize and understand both the reason for the harassment and
the precise form of power being abused (UMC, 2007).
According to Goodman (1991), power in sexual harassment has been viewed
differently by men and women. The literature on sexual harassment generally
characterizes it as an abuse of either role or sexual power. From the cases Goodman
(1991) mentions in her report, it can be noted that for men, power comes from
official authority, and they view sexual harassers as principally managers and
supervisors. Men acknowledged that co workers could sexually harass one another,
but co worker harassment was mainly seen as a mix up (UMC, 2007). However,
women often distinguish all members of an organization as possible harassers,
viewing it can be initiated by any person who is perceived as having power.
However, it has been claimed that sexual harassment regulations are based on the
point of view of the victim, nearly always a woman, and based almost completely on
the feelings of the victim. Many men have argued that, it is almost impracticable to
understand each other s feelings, and many suits filed for sexual harassment supposed
as misunderstandings between the two parties (Goodman, 1991). Paul (2001) agrees
that or women to expect respectful treatment in the workplace is utopian, yet he also
After Montaigne
Marketing This book is aimed at two groups of people. The first are readers who
are familiar and intrigued by the history of the essay. Interest in this genre is surely
seen in contemporary and best selling practitioners such as Leslie Jamison, Charles
D Ambrosio, Roxane Gay, Eula Biss, John D Agata, David Lazar, and Patrick
Madden. The University of Georgia Press has helped foster this genre with the
publication of After Montaigne: Contemporary Essayists Cover the Essays

connect in theme, voice, and content, pulled apart, each is a stand alone inquiry. The
chapters fall within the Montaigne like essay history of a narrator, through nonfiction

Few books, however, have covered unwanted, misfit species in an essayistic way,
despite the fact that many of them are thriving and can help us paint a clearer
picture of the world s present. Underrepresented, yet these creatures do seem to be
getting more credit lately, a sign of growing interest. Robert Sullivan s richly
engaging, best selling book, Rats (Bloomsbury USA 2005), remains popular but
only profiles one of the creatures in my book. Richard Mabey s much beloved
Weeds (Ecco 2012) profiles and defends what you might expect, leaving the rest of
misfit kind to another author s thorough engagement. Jim Sterba s fascinating
Nature Wars (Broadway Books 2012) examines human species conflicts but
focuses narrowly on the phenomenon of creatures invading suburbs. Dawn Day
Biehler s book Pests in the City ( University of Washington Press 2013) is an
informative investigation but much more scholarly than Pandora s Garden. Trash
Animals (University Of Minnesota Press 2013), edited by Kelsi Nagy, is a
fascinating collaboration but also scholarly. House Guests, House Pests
(Bloomsbury USA 2015) by Richard Jones focuses mostly on bugs in the United

Pearce s The New Wild (Beacon Press 2015) and Ken Thompson s Where Do
Camels Belong? (Greystone Books 2014) bravely defend invasive species, though
if with the single minded intent to overturn ideas of invasiveness. Gordon Grice s
series of predator profiles, The Red Hour Glass (Delta 1998), The Book of Deadly

investigate fearsome creatures but ignore almost all of the misfit species in this book

How Has Botulism Affected Humankind
Botulism essentially is and does for starters it is actually rare to get this type of
bacteria but has started to become more common in recent years among drug users
that use needles, and what happens is if left untreated will kill people. However, it
is treatable by antibiotics and other things like this. It can be spread through and is
present in large bodies of water, and through open cuts and wounds but it can also be
present in food.
The question comes up a lot how has botulism affected humankind throughout
history? The answer to this is quite commonly found all you have to do is look at
today s modern medicine. Today we have a cure but we didn t always people died a
lot from this and as a result we has to adapt and learn.

Character Analysis Of Anne Of The Island
Anne of the Island, by L. M. Montgomery is a story about Anne Shirley going off to
college, and deciding who she was going to marry. The story is primarily set in
Kingsport, the town around her college, and Green Gables, her childhood home,
during a time frame when it was very important for girls to get married. Anne is the
main character, but there are several additional key characters in the story including:
Marilla, her mother figure, who adopted Anne when she was eleven years old;
Charlie Sloane, who desperately wanted Anne to notice him; Gilbert Blythe, Anne s
old school friend, who came to college with her to become a doctor; and Royal
Gardener, also known as Roy, who became close friends with her while she was at
college. When Anne first arrived at Redmond College, she was thankful to have
her friends at her side, especially Prissy Grant. Prissy thankfully knew her way
around town, and as she and Anne started to look around the city, they made a new
friend, Philippa Gordon. Phillipa couldn t make up her mind on anything, except
that she was going to marry someone wealthy to support her extravagant life style.
Philippa had good intentions, and though she was slightly annoying at times,
Anne immediately befriended her. When Anne was home for summer break, she
received her first proposal, from Billy Andrews, whom she didn t even know that
well. Anne declined as politely as possible. It wasn t long before her next proposal
came along, this time from Charlie Sloane. Anne had never liked Charlie Sloane
that much, and again she refused as politely as she could. Soon, Anne received her
next proposal, which was from Gilbert Blythe, and that was a morning she d never
forget. Up until that point Anne and Gilbert had been great friends, but Anne didn t
believe she truly loved him. Anne was heartbroken when she found that she must
refuse him. She once again declined as politely as she could, but Gilbert was
heartbroken. Anne begged him not change anything because of her refusal, but
Gilbert knew that things could never be the same again after that, and he told her
so. Anne too was heartbroken over losing a good friend, and she was beginning to
wonder if that was all she d lost. Time passed, and Anne was
Health Between Urinary Bpa Levels And Increased Body
Mass
2.3Adverse effects
2.3.1 Obesity
Several studies indicate that there is an association between urinary BPA levels and
increased body mass in children and adolescents. In a cross sectional analysis , a
nationally representative subsample of 2838 participants aged from 6 to 19 year old
were randomly selected, and their urinary BPA concentration and body mass index
(BMI) were measured. They found that the urinary BPA concentration were
significantly associated with obesity in participants, while obesity was not associated
with exposed to other environmental phenols in other commonly used consumer
products, such as soaps and sunscreens (Trasande et al. 2012). Another cross sectional
study conducted in China was also with the aim to investigate the association
between BPA exposure and BMI. Multiple linear regression analyses showed that
urine BPA concentrations were significantly correlated with increasing BMI in
school children (Wang et al. 2012a). In addition, there is also epidemiological
evidence that an increased urine BPA concentration is associated with obesity in
adults. Wang et al. (2012b) conducted another cross sectional study based on a
sample of 3390 Chinese adults with age 40 years or older. They found there is a
positive correlation between urinary BPA concentration and generalized obesity as
well as abdominal obesity in adults.

In animal experiments, there is evidence that the offsprings of pregnant mice treated

Fair Use Violation
According to Halbert Ingulli (2012) fair use is the right to use limited portions of
copyrighted work, without permission for the owner (p.324). For example, when
an individual uses a music video for a product review for shoes, you want a video
so the individual s can upload that video for their review. The video viewed doesn t
replace the shoe product. However the owner s rights are not affected at all because
the individual s right to use the copyrighted video would be acceptable under fair use.
The fair use limit use of copyrighted material without the individual getting
permission from the owner. Copyrightlaws were established not to give the author the
right to deny their work to other people, but instead to encourage its creation (Halbert
Ingulli, 2012, p.324). One example of music sharing files is the case of Sony BMG
Music Entertainment V. Tennenbaum (Halbert Ingulli, p.324).

Persuasive Essay On Water Crisis
In a world that s over 70% covered with water, it s hard to believe that there could
ever be a water crisis. However, with 98% of the Earth s water being undrinkable,
that only leaves less than 3% of this water drinkable and with over 7 billion people
on this planet, well, it can start to get scarce. Ever since humans have been on this
Earth, especially during the Industrial and Agricultural Revolution, they have become
the number one largest polluter on the planet. Whether it be from agricultural runoff,
oil spills, even deforestation, humans are digging themselves a hole that will only get
harder to dig themselves out of as time goes on. As this path of pollution continues,
humans are creating crises all over the globe, from the drinking... Show more content

restaurants in Flint have already installed reverse osmosis filtration systems, which

Taxable Income And International Transfer Pricing Essay
Taxable Income and International Transfer Pricing Business organizations
increasingly look to globalization to increase profitability and maintain
competitiveness. Income from such operations is taxed differently in the United
States (US) dependent upon type of income and the levels of said income. Such
foreign corporations that are controlled by US shareholders are considered controlled
foreign corporations (CFC) which must comply with taxrules instituted in 1962
(Doupnik Perera, 2014). Wholly owned subsidiaries of US companies such as
Bahamamama, Ltd, the subsidiaryof Mama Corporation, are considered a CFC, and
as such companies such as Mama Corporation must determine income taxed by the
US. Additionally, global organizations seek to reduce tax liabilities through transfer
pricing. Transfer pricing is used to determine the price of transactions between
subsidiaries and parent companies and is used to reduce tax liabilities of US parent
companies. As such, tax authorities intervene to ensure US corporations report
correct tax liabilities.
Mama Corporation Subsidiary Bahamamama, Ltd. Mama Corporation s subsidiary
Bahamamama, Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary. As a wholly owned subsidiary,
Bahamamama, Ltd is considered a CFC and as such must determine income taxable
to the parent company. The income taxable is subpart F income, which is income that
can be easily moved between tax jursidictions (Doupnik Perera, 2014). Such income
includes sales to customers

The purpose of this lab was to find out how the amount of time that has elapsed
affect the position of the car away from the point of origin. Our hypothesis was if
the time elapsed is longer, then the car is going to be further away from the point
of origin. In this lab the independent variable what you are changing is time. The
dependent variable what you are measuring is how far the car is from the point of
origin after a certain amount of time (3 seconds, 6 seconds, and 9 seconds). The

Essay On Welfare Reform
The federal welfare system is a group of program provided by the federal
government to give aid to the poor. The federal welfare system was first introduced
by President Theodore Roosevelt. Since then, welfare programs have expanded to
give health care, houses and food to people in need. The welfare programs were
designed to aid the poor, elderly, and disabled, but actually led to higher taxes and
abuse of the system. These effects led to calls for reform. Reforms caused more
damage than good. The public welfaresystem needs to be mended by reducing federal
and state spending on welfare systems, promoting work for the unemployed and a
health care reform.
The public welfare system needs to be mended by reducing federal and state
spending on welfare systems. Annual welfare spending is approaching the 1 trillion
dollar mark. About one third of the United States population is on the welfare
system, that almost 9,000 dollars per beneficiary. Under the president s spending
plans, by 2022 we ll be spending $2.33 on welfare for every $1 we spend on
defense. (The ratio is currently $1.33 to $1.) Overall, President Obama plans to
spend $12.7 trillion on means tested welfare over the next decade (Feulner). The

If the recipients of welfare aid worked there would be less need for welfare programs.
If welfare programs required recipients to work then living on welfare would not
become a way of life. By the welfare system giving aid without requiring work it has
become a hand out not a hand up. Welfare programs do not provide temporary aid to
those off their feet it provides a lifestyle. Many people on welfare find it easier and
more logical to stay on welfare instead of working. By promoting working more
people could get off of the welfare system and back on their

Overall, Blackburt had 25 years of experience after earning his MBA and he was
also a CPA. A former colleague called him extremely intelligent and hardworking
someone who was the first to arrive in the morning and the last to leave at the end
of the day. The colleague also noted that Blackburt had nerves of steel and kept his
cool under the most pressure filled circumstances. Blackburt believed that Hollate

Baby Formula
Many parents choose to feed their infants breast milk, because it is more nutritious
than formula. In some countries such as China, women have chosen to use formula
instead of breast milk, because they have to work. Recently a baby formula crisis
has occurred on China s mainland. Baby Formula is made with a product called
melamine, for an added boost in protein for infants. According to Crandall A
company called the Sanlu group was purchasing melamine laced milk used in its
baby formula (Crandall, Parnell, and Spillen. 2013 pg. 22). Hospitals and clinks have
become overloaded with the hundreds of infants that became sick, and a few that
have died from drinking the formula. Before the outbreak of this contamination into

In 2006, Malaysian Travels Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of a public listed company,

Services Sdn Bhd purported to have acquired the opportunity through a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) signed by a Malaysian
Minister with a Turkistan Minister for exclusive rights to handle logistic

However, he realised that, as a CEO, he could not spend his time scrutinising every
single detail. Instead, he should focus on the bottom line and cash flow of the
organisation. He knew that, in doing so, he could quickly get to the truth of the
company. His first strategy would be to call for a meeting among the senior
management staff and ask them to brief him on the organisation to discover the
current state of affairs. He had been well aware that the team was going to want to
make things look good. So, he had to be vigilant for any sign of weakness.
He always had a particular concern about relationship based transactions, which he

that led to undesirable consequences. He noted that the organisational chart of
TIH showed several investments by a subsidiary which indicated to him that, to
ensure accountability, he had to watch out for any evidence of issues that had been
swept under the carpet and any possible lack of proper procedural practice.
During the first briefing by the senior staff, he noticed that there had been an
investment made by a subsidiary, Malaysian Travels Sdn Bhd (MTSB), in 2006,
which had shown no movement since. He asked for an explanation from the senior
management team, but was met by hushed murmurs. As they discussed

Life Span Development Reflective Paper Introduction Brenda Watson Leadership
Coaching September 19, 2010 This has been a very fascinating journey from
prenatal, birth to old age. The goal of this paper is to show how my knowledge and
understanding of life span development has increased, as well as demonstrate how
this knowledge and understanding will apply to and can be used within my area of
specialization, Leadership Coaching. As a Social Worker, I have had the opportunity
to work with children and families from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural
backgrounds. My experience and training includes extensive work with prenatal,
infant and early childhood education and development. Through this course I have

Although secure attachment during infancy is the foundation for continued healthy
positive development during the lifespan, it is important to understand that other
factors can have a significant effect on development later in life (i.e. illness, loss, and
trauma). However, research has shown the importance of consistent care giving that
is responsive and nurturing and the caregivers ability to effectively accommodate
more difficult temperament characteristics ,as well as other factors, influence the
development of healthy attachment{{64 Bakermans Kranenburg, Marian 2003}}.
Research has also shown that infancy and early childhood is the period of
development where scaffolding begins and continues (Vygotsky, 1978; Zhao amp;
Orey,1999). There are many other theories related to early childhood development
that are just as important in other areas of life span development. Because prenatal,
infancy and early childhood represent the beginning of development it is
understandable why it is important that emphasis be place on these developmental
stages of life. Without a strong foundation on which to build on there can be no
secure structure. Theories have been defined with terms such as stages, incremental,
multidimensional. Each theory has its contributions to and impact on the
understanding of human
Why Did Frederick Douglass Escape To Freedom
In the book A Narrative Life of Frederick Douglass an American Slave there are
many important events that lead to the author, Frederick Douglass, escaping to his
freedom. Before running away from the southern prison house of bondage, the
events that Frederick Douglass faces gives him reasons to escape and leave the awful
morals of slavery.
On page 122 Frederick Douglass says At the close of the year 1834, Mr. Freeland
again hired me of my master, for the year 1835. But, by this time, I began to want
to live upon free land as well as with freeland and I was no longer content,
therefore, to live with him or any other slaveholder. This quote explains how
Frederick Douglass had had enough. He decided to prepare himself to run away. He

The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
Literature Review: The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
For the past few centuries, political scandals have become a permanent fixture in US
politics. Most recently, when we think of scandals in American politics the 1998
Clinton Lewinsky Affair comes to mind. Though unlike its predecessors this scandal
was not one of constitutional crises such as Nixon s Watergate in the 1970s, but it
instead concerned the extramarital affairs of the then incumbent president, William J.
Clinton. Bill Clinton, as he is more commonly known by, was elected as the 42nd
US President in 1993 and served the maximum two terms in office, ending in 2001.
Under Clinton the American economy benefited greatly and financial stability
became more of a reality for many. However Clinton s presidential legacy is also
marked by his affair with Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment. He had become
the second sitting president in history to be impeached by the House of
Representatives. The Lewinsky affair shocked the public and the media along with
the right wing were keen to see Clintons demise. Washington became even more
vicious as political opponents of the President pursed him to no extent. Though
officially he could not be charged for having an affair, he could be held accountable
for lying under oath and misleading the jury during a trial. Clinton s adulterous affair
split opinions and became a talking point for all. Many accounts were written about
the Lewinsky affair, all with differing viewpoints on the

The Syncretism Of Buddhist And Daoist Religious Practices The Syncretism of Buddhist and Daoist Religious Practices upon their Initial Interactions in China Looking throughout history, there are many instances in which cultures and ideologies mirror biological and scientific phenomena. Often ideas will propagate much like a species would in certain environments. Like Darwin s finches, notions regarding religion, culture, or any other system of thought, struggle to survive through competition with other systems of ideas. Instead of having offspring that are able to survive longer, these ideologies will fight for converts to further the spread of their beliefs. But in nature it is rare that two species will actually come to learn how to live with each other, and adapt to become stronger from their interaction. Much like when Buddhismimmigrated to China, carrying ideals similar to the native Daoist principles, the interaction between the two religions triggered a drastic change in both. This syncretism occurred on account of the competition in the Chinese environment. Specifically, both held similar beliefs, which caused the two to fall into direct competition. In particular, the entry of Buddhism in China was accomplished by way of using Daoist principles and former Daoist to spread their beliefs, which immediately impacted Buddhism by means of its translation. The early success of Buddhism in China forced Daoism to either adapt or become extinct. This interaction between the two caused both to adapt and develop similar religious

In the film Gran Torino Walt Kowalski carries guilt and burden from the things he had to do during his years in the Korean War. He is plagued by loss and memories with the effects of war but, more than that, he also battles with his personal war. He searches for redemption, even if it is unconscious. Treatment Through time, scientists and doctors have created various treatment options for schizophrenia based off scientific theories in their time. At one point physicians would perform brain surgery to remove a portion of brain from an individual suffering with schizophrenia that was responsible for the hallucinations and delusions the individual would experience. Although the surgery might have decreased the amount of hallucinations and delusions experienced by the individual, it led to cognitive and emotional deficits that would impair the individual (Nolen Hoeksema, 2014). These drugs were effective methods that transformed the treatment of schizophrenia and decreased the number of hospitalized individuals suffering from the disorder by half. However, twenty five percent of those suffering from the disorder were unresponsive to the antipsychotic drugs (Adams, C. E., Awad, G. A., Rathbone, J., Thornley, B., Soares Weiser, K., 2014). The typical antipsychotic drugs worked best at treating the positive symptoms of schizophrenia but did nothing to treat the negative symptoms of the disorder (which are the lack of motivation and deficit in interpersonal skills). If individuals with schizophrenia discontinue the medication, a total of seventy eight percent will relapse within a year and ninety six percent within two years (Gitlin, M., Nuechterlein, K., Subotnik, K. Side effects of typical antipsychotic drugs were significant and would cause many individuals to discontinue their use (Nolen Hoeksema, 2014). Side effects include grogginess, dry mouth, weight
  • 6. The Lost History Of Christianity By Philip Jenkins In the novel title The Lost History of Christianity , author Philip Jenkins attempts to convey the message that there are many aspects of Christianity that are unknown to Christian followers today. Jenkins start by implying that Christianity essentially starts in Northern Mesopotamia. Jenkins then traces the history of Christianityfrom Africa to the Arab world to the heart of Asia, in what he consider to be the golden age of Christianity. He informs the readers of the stories of churches and movements that thrived over a millennium and then largely died out, though there are remnants of these churches here and there, spread across different parts of the world. Jenkins is a firm believer that Westerners are blinded by the impression the Christianity began in Europe and Northern America, and believe that in some ways they are superior among other religions. Jenkins suggest, When they think about Christian history, most modern Westerners follow the book of Acts in concentrating on the church s expansion west, through Greece and the Mediterranean world, and on to Rome. But while some early Christians were indeed moving west, many other believers probably in greater numbers journeyed east along the land routes, through what we today call Iraq and Iran, where they built great and enduring churches. Because of its location close to Roman frontier, but just far enough beyond it to avoid heavy handed interference Mesopotamia or Iraq retained a powerful terms of the number and

The EI mass spectra for these isomers show a number of unique ions which allow for the differentiation of the 1 alkyl 3 acylindole compounds from the inverse regioisomeric 1 acyl 3 alkylindoles. The base peak at m/z 214 in the 1 n pentyl 3 benzoylindole represents the M 77 cation fragment resulting from the loss of the phenyl group and this ion is not observed in the inverse isomer. The 1 benzoyl 3 n pentylindole inverse regioisomer shows a base peak at m/z 105 for the benzoyl cation. Thus, these two base peaks are the result of fragmentation initiated at the carbonyl oxygen for both isomers. The 1 pentyl 3 benzoylindole is characterized by the strong intensity carbonyl band at 1703 cm 1 while the amide carbonyl appears as a strong band of equal intensity at 1681 cm 1 in the 1 benzoyl 3 pentyl regioisomer. 1. This paper will discuss how potential energy turns into kinetic energy at different points along the track of a roller coaster. The important terms that will be discussed are potential energy (stored energy), kinetic energy (energy of motion), gravitational potential energy (GPE), and conservation of energy (basic law of physics). For the floating debt, we considered the 1 year Gov. rate applying to both Lodging and restaurants divisions. Furthermore, after taking the average of both floating and fixed debt rates for both divisions respectively we added the premium above Gov. Rate to the result and arrived at the pretax cost of debt. Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay Physics of an Acoustic Guitar I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he has made it look so easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar players have progressed with the technology of electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just me, I hear his love for me in the sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class conveyed to me that there was much more to his playing than I had imagined. The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the physics of the acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable distinctions are the result of various wavelengths and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest amplitude below the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and two antinodes. On a fixed string, nodes are created at both ends, so the fundamental, or longest, wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the length of the guitar string. Harmonics are determined by whole number multiples of the fundamental wavelength. 3 They can vary in speed and have any number of wavelengths that can be generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full wavelength and have two nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would add an additional half of a wavelength to the string. The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different frequencies from the guitar. The frequency is the number of wavelengths that occur per second. The equation is set up as the frequency equals the speed of the waves divided by the wavelength, or f = u В§ l . Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) and humans can generally hear between 20Hz and 20,000Hz, depending on the individual. The various frequencies formed on a guitar are attributed to the difference in the strings on the guitar. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top, are: E, B, G, D, A, and E. Their fundamental frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz, 246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and

The prominent use of organ in the piece contributes to the songs tense, foreboding character. The dissonance created by the organ and the use of a rotary speaker creates a thick, unnatural and disturbing timbre. The character of the song is also conveyed using auxiliary percussion. The ostinato arpeggio played on the xylophone in the chorus, along with the tubular bell strikes, shakers and heavy toms convey this character. The use of harmony in the piece is one of the main elements that creates character in the piece. The song focuses heavily on the harmony associated with the ii chord in the song s key of C minor;

In the first two lines, the speaker introduces a scene of chaos by saying TURNING and turning in the widening gyre the falcon cannot hear the falconer. A gyre is a tornado like structure, and it symbolizes history and how it is cyclical, which is how Yeats himself viewed life. The fact that Yeats refers to history as a gyre shows that he has a negative view of humanity. The next two lines say Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world. This solidifies the idea that the world is crumbling, and even though the anarchy, or chaos, is small, there is definitely more to come. What Does The Yellow Symbolize In The Great Gatsby Laura Emberson Mr. Carroll English Comp II Literary Analysis Final Copy 16 April 2015 Symbolism in The Great Gatsby Symbolism prevails above all other things throughout F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. The author s use of symbolism creates many themes throughout the story. Some of the main themes recognized throughout the story are those regarding lies and deceit, marriage, money, religion, and isolation. The symbols creating these themes are represented with colors. The author uses color throughout the story to symbolize deceit, innocence, envy, lifelessness, and sadness. The color yellow is used to symbolize deceit. George Wilson is described as being covered in ashen dust along with everything else in the valley of ashes which suggests that he has lost hope in his marriage with Myrtle and is depressed as a result. More than once, it is suggested that Dr. TJ Eckelburg s eyes are the all seeing eyes of God. The association of Eckelburg to God may lead readers to associate the valley of ashes to a place such as purgatory, where lifeless, hopeless souls remain under the eyes of God, hoping to one day be freed. The religious references made in the book obviously suggest that one of the themes is religion or perhaps the lack of it. The only mention of God is in reference to eyes on a billboard, which suggests that maybe the obsession with wealth and fortune has surpassed the importance of

To avoid sexual harassment s expensive penalty and diminish its occurrence, employers need to recognize and understand both the reason for the harassment and the precise form of power being abused (UMC, 2007). According to Goodman (1991), power in sexual harassment has been viewed differently by men and women. The literature on sexual harassment generally characterizes it as an abuse of either role or sexual power. From the cases Goodman (1991) mentions in her report, it can be noted that for men, power comes from official authority, and they view sexual harassers as principally managers and supervisors. Men acknowledged that co workers could sexually harass one another, but co worker harassment was mainly seen as a mix up (UMC, 2007). However, women often distinguish all members of an organization as possible harassers, viewing it can be initiated by any person who is perceived as having power. However, it has been claimed that sexual harassment regulations are based on the point of view of the victim, nearly always a woman, and based almost completely on the feelings of the victim. Many men have argued that, it is almost impracticable to understand each other s feelings, and many suits filed for sexual harassment supposed as misunderstandings between the two parties (Goodman, 1991). Paul (2001) agrees that or women to expect respectful treatment in the workplace is utopian, yet he also

The story is primarily set in Kingsport, the town around her college, and Green Gables, her childhood home, during a time frame when it was very important for girls to get married. Anne is the main character, but there are several additional key characters in the story including: Marilla, her mother figure, who adopted Anne when she was eleven years old; Charlie Sloane, who desperately wanted Anne to notice him; Gilbert Blythe, Anne s old school friend, who came to college with her to become a doctor; and Royal Gardener, also known as Roy, who became close friends with her while she was at college. When Anne first arrived at Redmond College, she was thankful to have her friends at her side, especially Prissy Grant. Phillipa couldn t make up her mind on anything, except that she was going to marry someone wealthy to support her extravagant life style. Philippa had good intentions, and though she was slightly annoying at times, Anne immediately befriended her. When Anne was home for summer break, she received her first proposal, from Billy Andrews, whom she didn t even know that well. Anne declined as politely as possible. It wasn t long before her next proposal came along, this time from Charlie Sloane. Anne had never liked Charlie Sloane that much, and again she refused as politely as she could.
