Pollution of our environment is a big issue in today s world. I thought I would
focus on one aspect of this by looking at the effects of salt pollution on duckwed.
Hopefully by finding out more about our effects on the environment we can discover
ways to preserve it.
Aim: To find out what effects growing in waters of different salinity will have on the
growth of duckweed.
Hypothesis: The duckweed will show a small growth increase with very low levels of
salinity and then will show a decline in growth rate as the levels of salinity increase.
Planned methodology: Collect a sample pool of duckweed, and measure out an equal
amount into 5 different containers. Place an increasing amount of salt into the first 4
containers and no salt in the 5th container as a control. Monitor the growth of the
duckweed for 2 weeks.

В· Prepare 5 beakers with 500 ml of water each.
В· Count 5 duckweed fronds into each beaker.

Isaac Newton was a physicist and a mathematician who was widely recognized as
one of the most influential scientist of all time. Newton was born on December 25,
1642 in Woolsthorpe, England and was the only son of a thriving local farmer,
also called Isaac Newton. A premature baby born petite and weak, Newton was not
likely to survive. When he was just 3 years old, his mother Hannah, remarried a man

By this point in the story, it is finally the day of Aurora s long awaited sixteenth
birthday, much to the worry of her parents. Now that she approaching the eligible
age to marry, four princes have arrived to interview for her hand in marriage. In the
score, this marks the ballet s Rose Adagio which features a slow, melodic violin
line with brass accompaniment in 12/8 time. This section represents a happy
celebration in the ballet, but with Carabosse s original threat looming over the day,
it is almost all a little too good to be true. Following the amusing display of Aurora
s dance with each prince, Carabosse arrives in disguise and as per her promise, the
princess gets pierced with a spindle. However, the Lilac Fairy s promise still holds
true and Aurora merely falls into a deep sleep. This moment marks the exit of evil
Carabosse and the introduction of the Lilac Fairy s leitmotif, which features a 6/8
meter and an uplifting tune in the English horn. After coming to another dramatic
conclusion, the act ends with the Aurora being put to bed and the good fairy putting
another spell on the kingdom, ensuring that everyone will sleep until Prince Aurora is
