We are extremely excited that Ford has chosen ADP Dealer Services to be part of their ACE

This takes the innovation global, which can increase globalization, jobs could potentially move
overseas for Ford. This could potentially mean loss of jobs within the US, although the innovation

The 2008 Financial Crisis Essay
Introduction
In 2008, the world experienced a tremendous financial crisis which rooted from the U.S housing
market; moreover, it is considered by many economists as one of the worst recession since the
Great Depression in 1930s. After posing a huge effect on the U.S economy, the financial crisis
expanded to Europe and the rest of the world. It brought governments down, ruined economies,
crumble financial corporations and impoverish individual lives. For example, the financial crisis has
resulted in the collapse of massive financial institutions such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman
Brother and AIG. These collapses not only influence own countries but also international area.
Hence, the intervention of governments by changing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Concept Of A Naval Battle
The concept of a naval battle has been around since approximately 1210 B.C.E. However, it would
be several thousands of years before its most important and revolutionary changes would be brought
about. The idea of a submersible ship has been around since the Revolution, although its success
was minimal at best. The first modern submarinewould be developed in the late 19th century and
would be first used successfully in warfare by the Germans in World War
1. It arguably led to the
American s victory over Japan in World War II. Since their development submarines have paved
the way for the evolution of strategy, revolutionary new tactics, as well as playing a vital role in the
nuclear triad, redefining war.
No longer would the Mahanian strategy of a decisive battle be the norm, nor considered the best
way to fight naval battles. With the advent of the submarine, navies could now look into denying
their enemies the sea rather than struggling to control it (Hughes, n.d.). A contributing aspect of
this sea denial is the ability to greatly extend coastal defense. Coastal defense can not be looked at
in a traditional sense. These ships are not looking to simply defend the coast, but rather are cruising
thousands of miles of shore to sink as much of the enemy fleet as possible, thereby crippling their
ability to attack (Lautenschlager, 1987). Submarines also introduce a new element to psychological
warfare. As stated in Karl Lautenschlager s publication for International Security,

The Murder And Serial Killers
Okay, so when I was 18 years old, I worked at a department store as an overnight stock boy . I
practically slept during the day and woke up to go to work at night. However, right before heading
out to work, I remember watching late night reruns of the shows Forensic Files and Cold Case Files.
I don t know why but they kept me startled and entertained until I left for work. Since then for some
odd reason I ve found murderers and serial killers very enthralling. Particularly, from the very start, I
became more interested in the motives that caused those high profile murders, rather than the
murderers themselves.
From watching so much Forensic files, I ve seen all the successful acts of murder and the fails from
some of the world s most notorious killers. So, instead of keeping all this interesting knowledge
secluded, I ve decided to splurge out 13 great tips for killing someone and not getting caught.
Ready?
ALWAYS use Oxygen bleach to clean up evidence of blood. This is the worst enemy of any
forensic investigator and a serial killer s best friend. Interestingly, oxygen bleach is a substance,
that once used to clean up blood stains, will not leave any traces of blood or hemoglobin cells.
This means, when the investigators whip out the luminol to probe the scene for blood traces, your
ass will be covered.
NEVER use a mobile phone. Making a phone call or sending text messages during murder time is a
big NO! Nowadays, cell phone data of any kind can be easily

The Severity Of Surgical Oncology
By Jonas Wilson, Ing. Med. Surgical Oncology Surgical oncology is the medical specialty that is
concerned with the surgical treatment and removal of tumors. In fact, surgery is one of the oldest
means of treating cancer. Ancient Egyptians in the 7th century meticulously described techniques
for the removal of tumors of the breasts. Thanks to our advances in terms of the safety and efficacy
of anesthesia, surgery, in general, has been rapidly evolving. The specialists responsible for carrying
out these procedures are called surgical oncologists and are typically general surgeons who
underwent additional training in the management of oncological patients. Thus, they do not

Analysis Of World War II
World War II was one of the most widespread and deadliest battles fought. It left 291,557 United
States soldiers dead and 670,846 soldiers wounded throughout a period of six years. It took a
huge physiological toll on the soldiers, families, and even the people throughout the world.
Many families had to live with disabled veterans due to many factors, a major one being
depression and not being able to leave the house out of fear of another devastating event. Many
families were robbed of someone very important to their life, while others were left feeling robbed
because the person they once knew was not the same anymore. Many were depressed, sad, and
scared. I thank every single soldier who fought to protect our country. In the future, I... Show more

Robert says that facing his physical challenges was the easy part, but fighting the psychological
challenges was the hardest part. He was forced to do his every day activities in a new way, but
he was still living with the mental fact that he did not all have all of his body parts. Roberto and
his family suffered greatly, but he said he never gave up because there was a purpose to his life
and he continually had hope. I would love to be able to work with veterans, like Mr. Barrera, and
help them to realize that even though they have gone through something very traumatic, there is
still hope for their future. I want to make their experience with going through physical therapy an

Personally, I know that I cannot change the minds of any veteran that has gone through such a

Los Angeles Dodgers Business Analysis
A season ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers put together a dominating regular season, winning the
National League West. At the 2015 All Star break, the Giants were the closest competitor to the
division leading Dodgers, trailing Los Angeles by 3.5 games. By the end of the season, however,
the Dodgers won the division by eight games over second place San Francisco.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Under new general manager Farhan Zaidi, the Dodgers underwent a dramatic overhaul in the 2014
2015 offseason. Most notably, the Los Angeles unloaded outfielder Matt Kemp, trading the two

After displaying dominance throughout the 2014 playoffs, Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner
produced one the most historic World Series performances as San Francisco captured its third
championship in five years. However, a year after San Francisco s third title since 2010, the Giants
failed to make the playoffs 2015.
Attempting to turn their fortune around in 2016, the Giants made a few key signings in the
offseason. San Francisco signed free agent outfielder Denard Span to a three year, $31 million
deal, while the Giants also sured up their rotation behind Bumgarner by signing 2015 World Series
Champion Johnny Cueto and 2014 All Star Jeff Samardzija.
Aside the Giants new additions, a solid cast of starters return, led by outfielder Hunter Pence, who
hit .275 last season, and catcher Buster Posey, who batted .318 in 2015. In its lineup, San Francisco
also has up and coming second baseman Joe Panik, who batted .312 last year. Returning right

Is English Native Speakers Use A Greater Number Of...
Discussion
The results of the analysis suggest that English native speakers use a greater number of singular
self mention in linguistics research articles than scholars affiliated with Ukrainian universities, who
avoid using them completely and rely on plural forms. This confirms the previous findings that
primarily plural self mention is employed in academic writing in Slavic languages (Vassileva,
1998), and that academic texts in English by native speakers show the greatest use of singular
forms in comparison to other languages (Flottum, 2005; Molino, 2010; Vassileva, 1998; Wu Zhu,
2014; Yakhontova, 2002; 2006). It can be assumed that, in American academic culture, scholars
tend to establish their presence in the articles and show that research has been carried out
exclusively by them and that the method and interpretations of findings are based on their own
judgement. This way they might acknowledge the fact that although research should be an
objective presentation of reality, it is still subjective because it is interpreted and documented by a
researcher. In addition, since Americans are representatives of an individualistic culture, they might
be willing to identify their personal contributions to the discourse.
In contrast, Ukrainians writing in Ukrainian seem to distance or even remove themselves from the
texts by using impersonal forms and plural self mention. Also, plural self mention is only expressed
through verb inflections, which means that Ukrainians do not

Plain Style In William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation
In September of 1620, the Mayflower full of Puritans not satisfied with the system of the Church

Puritan man named William Bradford was among the passengers of the Mayflower and wrote Of

Essay Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti
Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti
Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti describes a cottage maiden who was seduced and used by the
lord of the estate for which she worked. She was surprised and taken a back by the fact that
someone so great and powerful could be slightly interested in her, and so she automatically fell in
love with him. It wasn t until after he had slept with her that he left her for her cousin, Kate. The
cottage maiden was devastated that he had done that to her. She felt unclean and unwanted. The lord
asked for Kate s hand in marriage and she accepted.
The cottage maid thought that he married Kate because she was innocent and pure, Because you
were so good and pure/He bound you with his ring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The poem
demonstrates how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he
pleases, and because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This brings into
light the difference between higher and lower class people. If the cottage maiden had said
anything, people would not believe her and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations.
According to the maiden, Kate s love was not real. O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was
writ in sand .
This tells us that Kate s love was going to disappear and was only a temporary emotion which
was later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the maiden s love was real. The
maiden may just be saying this for revenge against Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel
better but we do not know. The Lord s love towards the maiden was not real, His plaything and
his love . Plaything and love are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her
for a while or was it all just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her then
left her for Kate.
The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used this, his power
and his wealth against the maiden.
The Lord casts off the female once he meets Kate, who is fairer than the narrator. This shows that
males do not always get emotionally involved in

Theme Of Memory In Memento Mori
Action speaks louder than words. These actions are shown in both in Memento (film) by
Christopher Nolan and Memento Mori (short story) by Jonathan Nolan. The short story is
turned into a movie, but it will never be as good. A book has a storyline, base descriptions are
given, and our mind gets to create it with every turn of the page. A movie is someone else vision
and very directed with certain details. The story starts off with Earl who has amnesia due to a
traumatic event that his wife got rape and murder due to this he is unable to create new memories.
Earl uses specific strategies to remember what he has already done and will be doing by he uses
pictures, letters and transfers important notes onto his body. However, both brothers were able to
create a point about Earl mental illness condition who is the main character of MementoMori in
different ways. One of the most important techniques that were both shown in the Memento Mori is
time, thus, the film had a better justice of showing the audience/reader the power of past, present,
and future.
In the beginning of the short story, time is being used as important information about the main
character illness and one of the strategies that the character used to remember which is taking
photographs. The author Jonathan Nolan introduce Earl in a matter of way where he questioned
Earl thoughts about not remembering his own memories before he got amnesia. This evident when
Nolan used irony about the incident where he quotes

Adrienne Rich Education Rich Analysis
Poet Adrienne Rich gave an inspiring speech during a convocation at Douglass College in 1977.
Even though this was quite a few decades ago, her words are still relevant today. Education is still
not taken as seriously as it should be and this is disappointing because it is the most important tool
that leads to a successful life. Rich s speech describes how to claim an educationrather than simply
receive one, and this is something that all students need to take into consideration.
Most students take a passive approach to their education. In other words, they do the bare minimum
needed in order to get by and receive their diploma. However, what they don t understand is that this
is hurting them more than helping them. From what I read in the posts from my fellow ... Show

Robin Williams Case Study
Case Study
Robin Williams will go down in history as one of America s favorite stand up comedians and
actors. Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and
showcased Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will
Hunting, showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were
devastated when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how
America s favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole
world wondering who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras
weren t rolling.
Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers
that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged
parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to
Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping
mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was
when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the
beginning of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans,
2016)
In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard
School of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a
Hollywood actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before
graduating and moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian.
It was here that he began to be successful, but unfortunately, along with that success came his
involvement with drugs and alcohol. Williams once explained in an interview that he used cocaine
because it had a reverse effect on him and made him talk less. (Lincoln, 2015)
Robin Williams was successful in his endeavors to be discovered on stage. His career began to take
off as he started getting small acting roles in shows like Happy Days, which lead to his own
spinoff show Mork and Mindy. Author Brian Morris says, Despite

Act Of Thecla Essay
The Acts of Thecla describes Thecla s trials and journey as she becomes Christian; this was written
by the author as a way of emphasizing the importance of women s roles in Christianity. Compared
to the other women protagonists that were read about in class, Penthesileia and Judith, Thecla is
passive for a heroine. The author of The Acts of Thecla has a contrasting view of women in
Christianity when compared to other Christians in the first two centuries of the Common Era.
Having a femaleprotagonist is important to The Acts of Thecla because the trials she faced were
specific to her role as a female. Thecla is sentenced to be burned at the stake after refusing to
marry Thamyris. Refusing to get to married to your betrothed was seen as breaking a contract.
When Thecla is on the pyre being prepared to burn she sees something. And looking over the
crowd, she saw the Lord sitting in the form of Paul and said, As if I were not able to bear up, Paul
has come to look after me. And she looks intently at him, by he took off into the heavens. ... Show

And when she had given this witness she headed off to Seleucia, and after enlightening many
with the word of God, she slept with a fine sleep. (Thecla, 43). This is a finalization of Thecla s
life. This could have ended with Thecla getting married proving that women aren t strong enough
to preach the word of God. Instead it ends with her having reached the end of her life never
breaking her celibacy and preaching the word of God. This gives an insight into the author s mind
and that they believed women had a role as missionaries in Christianity. This view is different from
the majority of Christians during the Common Era. Let women learn in silence with full
submissions. (1 Timothy 5:3). Women were supposed to be there, but not heard. They were not
expected to speak. This is the opposite view from the author of The Acts of

Fallacies In The Film Religulous
The documentary Religulous by Bill Maher, appeals the audience asking if they can believe in
something like religion or God on blind faith without proof that he even existed. Maher preaches
the gospel of I don t know but in his way of searching for the truth he comes off as contradictory,
and he criticizes confident people about their beliefs while declaring that religious faithis not
legitimate. Maher commits many fallacies through the film like for instance he does not grasp the
implication of his ideologies. in the interviews with religious leaders and believers it felt like they
were just going around in circles when he asks why they believe in Godand Bible. They all said
mostly the same thing they believe God is real because it said so in the Bible, and it has always
been like that since the beginning of time. No one gave a clear answer as to why they beliefor faith
is unquestionable. Maher s religious position is that he s not sure God exists but every time he
interviews someone he ridicules their belief, and in turn, his arguments seem as if they came from
a place of ignorance. Thus, Maher can only conclude that he doesn t know, and he cannot claim
that another person stance that God exists is wrong. Base on his premise that no one knows for

Empirical Formula Of Hydrate Lab
The primary of this lab is about the hydrate. The hydrate is a compound formed by an ionic bond
combined with the water molecule (known as water of hydration ) attached to it. So for every
formula unit, there would be some amount of water molecule combined with the ionic compound
and would act as a single compound. Our theoretical hydrate for this lab was CuSO4 * 5H2O. To
remove the water from the compound and get the mass of the ionic compound, you need to follow
the dehydrating procedure by heating. That would separate the ionic bond (CuSO4) from the water
molecule(5H2O) once it reaches certain decomposition temperature. And to physically determine
whether or not the water of hydration is removed, see the color, in our case, turning white from
blue. Once the water molecules have entirely evaporated, the mass left would be the weight of the
ionic compound (mass of CuSO4 in grams).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The empirical formula is a similar molecular formula but in its simplified ratio. While
calculating, you need to find the percent of a part of the compound from the whole compound.
Then find the moles of each composition and then calculate mole to mole ratio between
copper(II) sulfate and water to achieve the possible empirical formula. But for the mole to mole
ratio to work, you need to know the law of definite proportions. It says that every chemical
compound would have certain proportion, by mass, of its composition and that ratio cannot be
changed. So for example a mole of water would always have 1 mole of Oxygen and 2 moles of

In Addition To The Analysis Of The Macroeconomic Events
In addition to the analysis of the macroeconomic events that has affected the stock indexes for both
the U.S. and Europe, I constructed a two stock portfolio made of Target Corporation (TGT) and

that has been discussed in the macroeconomic section of this paper affects the returns of my two

This could be due to the fact that Ralph Lauren is making a notable effort and wise business
decisions to revive the brand. Their CEO Stefan Larsson was hired to save the brand, but due to
his lack of performance, he will be leaving the company. Until they find a new CEO, the CFO
Jane Nielsen will be running the company. He plans to focus on the source of the decline in
revenue: e commerce. Comparing Ralph Lauren to Coach Inc., they have both been in business
for several years, but Coach isn t in a decline like Ralph Lauren. When customers walk into Coach
in New York City, there are conveyor belts showing bright new handbags. They are adjusting their
business model to the desires of young adults shopping in their stores. Ralph Lauren will make
these adjustments by having the CFO focus on their digital operations and streamlining stores

Question # 1 Describe the history and core business of each company.
When capturing the special moments in our lives have you ever taken a moment to wonder about
the evolution of photography? Every day special moments are captured on film, whether it s your
baby s first step, grandparent birthday celebration, Presidential Inauguration, your wedding, your

Fujifilm made the conscious decision to embrace the change towards digitization. In 2004, the
company management team planned to take measures to ensure the viability of the company
during the shift towards digital. With this decision, Fujifilm remained a force to be reckoned with
in the photography industry. With the economic down spiral was occurring in 2008 Fujifilm was
reporting record breaking profits and earnings. Understanding the Global crisis of an impending
recession Fujifilm once again took action to maintain their viability. This time the company
implemented a series of decisive Group and division wide structural reforms over a two year
period commencing the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010 (Annual Report, pg. 4).
While Fujifilm was embracing the new technology and moving towards the digital world Kodak
remained stalled. While failing to embrace the new digital age of cameras, the company that
invented the first hand held camera saw its company collapse. The company filed for bankruptcy
protection in 2010 to protect some of their assets. Although, Kodak was beginning to lose profits in
2007 their management team did nothing to increase the company revenues and prevent the
inevitable. In court documents the company that once boasted earnings in the billions was cash
poor and operating in the red. According to papers filed with the U.S. bankruptcy court in

Fee Simple Ownership Of Property
Property ownership comes with many rights and obligations. There are many different ways to
obtain property and convey it to others. The greatest interest someone can have in property, in
terms of degree of control over that property, is known as fee simple ownership. Fee simple
ownership is also the most common interest in land. It is important to understand the obligations
associated with propertyownership before purchasing land or an estate. There are many rights
associated with fee simpleownership of property. The owner of has the right possess and control the
property. The right to quiet enjoyment also comes with the ownership of property, this means that
the owner is entitled to exclude trespassers from their property. However, the... Show more content

However, there are a few ways owners can limit their ownership. The first way is to grant an
easement to someone to use part of the land for a specified purpose, for example, if an electric
company needs to install cables on someone s property the landowner can grant them an easement.
Granting an easement does not deprive the owner of their property, it simply allows a part of the
land to be used for a specific purpose. An easement that grants the right to do something is an
affirmative easement, in contrast a negative easement would require a landowner to refrain from
certain actions. For example, the owner could not increase the height of their dwelling as it would
block the light from entering the holder of the negative easements property. Easements are not
permanent, they may be terminated by a written agreement between the property owner and the
easement holder. Licenses are similar to easements in that they grant permission to use the property
in a specific way. The main difference between licenses and easements are that licenses are
revocable by the granter at any time and may be granted orally. Finally, there are covenants which
are promises made by the landowner with respect to the use of their land. Like easements, there are
positive and negative covenants. Positive covenants involve promising to do something, such as
paying homeowner association dues and negative covenants are promises to refrain from
something, such as housing a business on the

The Transformation from Traditional Management Systems to...
Executive Summary
Traditional management systems rely on volume to allocate overhead. Indirect cost is allocated to
items such as direct labor hours, units produced or the production of machine hours. Using only
single cost drivers, potentially distorts cost estimates especially when dealing with high volume
production. The implementation of Activity Based Costing serves as a solution to this downside in
traditional systems. ABC utilizes various cost drivers both volume and non volume related to
estimate costs, providing more accurate estimations. Although this method benefits managers in
providing the information needed for decision making and improving efficiency of business

Bianco (2011) supports the fact that firms within the traditional channel see themselves as
independent businesses that seek the lowest purchase price and increase sales prices to gain higher
profits. It further states that traditional methods result in diseconomies caused by redundancies,
usually in the case of inventories.
The lack of technology in traditional systems does not provide very much coordination with the
supply chain. As a result there is possible delay in delivery of products and services from the
supplier to the customer. Additionally the unavailability or delayed delivery of customer
information takes away from adding value to customers and may in turn decrease profitability and
performance. Advances in information technology have radically changed access to information
and in turn the business landscape, so much so, that the current business era is frequently referred
to as the information age. (Jiambalvo 2007, p. 14). As technology continues to advanced
companies are realizing that in order to keep up the pace in a competitive global market there is a

The Anatomy Of Corporate Fraud Essay
Article Critique #1 The first article researched was The Anatomy of Corporate Fraud: A
comparative Analysis of High Profile American and European Corporate Scandals. The abstract
discusses the analysis conducted on the three major American accounting scandals; Enron,
WorldCom, and HealthSouth, and compares to the three major European accounting scandals;
Parmalat, Royal Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Bahram Soltani (2014), also discusses within the
abstract the different areas reviewed regarding why the accounting scandals occurred; ethical
climate, tone at the top, bubble economy and market control, fraudulent financial reporting,
accountability, control, auditing, governance, and management compensation (p. 251). Between
2001 and 2003 there were several corporate accounting scandals that occurred that took the world
by surprise. A lot of investors lost a lot of money and several employees lost their jobs. These
accounting scandals occurred due to management misconduct, fraud, and scams that occurred within
these companies. Within the United States, the big cases typically viewed are the Enron,
WorldCom, and HealthSouth cases, however, it is forgotten that Europe experienced a similar
situation with Parmalat, Royal Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Soltani (2014), discusses the
importance of understanding the motivation and causes of financial corporate scandals. Soltani

Hormonal Differences Between Antidepressants And Pregnancy
Antidepressants and Pregnancy
Almost all women experience some type of depression during pregnancy. Depression is more
than just feeling blue or down in the dumps for a few days. It s a serious illness that involves the
brain. Depression makes you feel sad and lonely for a number of days, and could become a serious
problem. These feelings can be mild to severe. Depression is the most common problem during
pregnancy. Due to the potential birth defects, developmental issues, and negative effects on the

The antidepressants actually affect the mother as well as the child. Given that the benefits of
antidepressants overall, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors including paroxetine specifically,
during pregnancy is questionable at best, any increase in risk small or large is too high, said Dr.
BГ©rard. (Daigle par. 3) Researches have actually found that everything the mother takes passes
through the placenta, giving more risks to the medicine affecting the child in the womb. The
placenta is a flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant women that nourishes and
maintaining the fetus through the umbilical cord. That s why a mother will need to watch their
own diet and what they take, it could really affect their child s future, and their own. All of the
medications you take during pregnancy can affect you and your child. You have to be careful of
what you put in your mouth while you re carrying a child. Some research associates use of
citalopram, fluoxetine and sertraline with a rare but serious newborn lung problem (persistent
pulmonary hypertension of the newborn) when taken during the last half of pregnancy. (Mayo
Staff Clinic par. 1) Other possible risks of more rare birth defects are being studied further. A
decision to use antidepressants during pregnancy is based on the balance between risks and
benefits. Overall, the risk of birth

Theme Of Friendship In The Killer Angels
The Killer Angels displays many of the important themes that occurred during the Battle of
Gettysburg, some of which including bravery, leadership, and, most of all, friendship. This
theme of friendship is represented in many of the characters of this book, and some of these
friendships were divided by ranks and, in the case of Armistead and Hancock, by countries. But
even with the fighting, true friendship is able to come out of the mess. Two pairs of men that

You could compare their friendship to that of comrades in school who would share information

their lives in the book but the lives of many soldiers. They argued because of their many different
view: Longstreet wanted to take a defensive approach while Lee wanted to go on the offensive
and Longstreet wanted to court martial Stuart while Lee did not want to (pg. 189; Would you do
it? Court martial Stuart? Yes, I would. Seriously? Or are you just talking? Longstreet though a

my considered opinion that a frontal assault here would be a disaster. Lee turned, frowned, the
dark eyes flared for a moment. ). Even if they argued a lot, that did not ruin their friendship.

125).
Looking at the social comparison theory (Festinger, 1954), ...individuals have an innate drive to
evaluate their abilities and opinions. If an objective or non social basis for the evaluation is
unavailable, individuals tend to compare themselves to others who then serve as reference points.
Women are comparing themselves not to ordinary women walking along the street, but to
celebrities in the media and instead of being happy for themselves comparing their bodies to what
the media say is beautiful will make them insecure.
The Body Image and Self Schema Theory can be defined as the degree of attractiveness, ...our
own internal view of how we look, how we think we appear to others, and how we feel about our
looks (Thompson et al., 1999, p. 3). People may be found attractive by others but when they look
at themselves they have a negative body image. When a woman has a negative body image this is
known as body image disturbance. Body image disturbance can include affective (e. g. anxiety),
cognitive (e. g. expectations), behavioural (e. g. avoiding situations that expose the body), and
perceptual (e. g. overestimation of one s body size) features and its levels may range from none to
extremely high with most individuals falling somewhere in the middle. (Thompson et al., 1999, p.

Culture And Identity ( Rough Draft ) Essay
Essay 1: Culture and Identity (Rough Draft)
Imagine a life without writing, and without art; it s pretty grim isn t it? Without these essential
cultural components, life would be a sad place to live in, because no other cultural aspect would
survive. The most essential cultural elements are Art and Literature, because art and literature lead
into the other cultural aspects.
Without arts and literature, you couldn t have the rest of the cultural elements. Culture manifested
itself with the aid of art and literature, without the help of writing or art, cultural unity would be
impossible. A good example of a culture without writing and art would be the early humans; their
culture did not carry along, and one tribe would be completely different than the other, and they
couldn t even speak to express their ideas. It wasn t until early humans began to draw cave art that
ideas could be expressed, and then culture grew and evolved and spread into government s and
civilizations and certain ways of doing things, as well as religion and any of the other cultural
elements. That s why art and literature are prerequisite to the development of all the other elements
of culture. Art and literature are necessary to communicate and spread the rest of the cultural
elements. Civilization is the backbone of culture, and you need art and literature to connect a
civilization.
Art is important to culture and our society. Society is culture, or more accurately, society is the

Domestic Violence And Its Effects
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or
gender. ( Domestic Violence. U.S.) While signs of physical abuse can be seen if the victim has
visible bruises, there are other forms of domestic violence that are often missed or overlooked.
Victims often live in fear and sadly many times, they fear the person that they love. It has been
proven that at least three women are killed a day by their significant other in forms of domestic
violence, in most cases, a male is their better half. (Catalano), if that does not tell you something
then I will. There are many forms of domestic violence, some abuse can be very noticeable, and
others may be hidden very easily or never even seen. All forms of abuse cause extreme trauma to
the victim. According to Sexual Violence Victimization, Almost one third of women experience
physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime (7). And over 80% of women have
reported that they have been verbally abused by their significant other (Shorey, Zucosky,
Brasfield, Febres, Cornelius, Sage, and Stuart 289 296). Girls are petrified, and with the massive
amount of abuse, roughly 4 million women were found to have been suffering physical abuse by
their boyfriend or husband annually (Black, Basile, Breiding, Smith, Walters, Merrick, Chen,
Stevens). Sexual Assault is one form of domestic violence. Over half of rapes are made by the

The Purpose of Sati in Jane Eyre Essay
The general image of Sati and the reasoning that surrounded it filled the Western imagination with
repulsion as well as admiration. In the nineteenth century, Westerners publishing diaries of their
travels always included their experiences when viewing Sati. Although these travelers, usually men,
watched with horror, they also admired the courage and the dignity of the women involved
(Hawley 3). What was known in England of Sati was from the accounts of the colonial officialsand
travelers who witnessed it (Courtright 28). It would not surprise one to assume that Charlotte
Bronte, in her drive for knowledge and her stand on women s freedom, would have taken an
interest in such an act; and indeed she incorporates it in Jane Eyre. In 1829,... Show more content on

Nothing has excited the attention of the Europeans than the burning of wives upon the funeral
piles of their husbands (Perera 91). Another important aspect of the act of Sati was that it became
an element in the vindication of British Imperialism . . . and was also used as a moral justification
to the Britishers to impose their rule on India (Perera 92).
With an attempt to distinguish between the old and the new, Charlotte Bronte creates the character
of Bertha Mason as the exhibition of female repression and desire frequently found in the East.
Bertha Rochester is the emblem of Eastern society, one which the British see as static and
barbaric, and Jane Eyre is representative of the Western Civilization. In Reaches of Empire,
Suvendrini Perera argues that if the barely human prisoner caged in the Thornfield attic is the

take note of the enriching importance of the text s suppression of Bertha. Charlotte Bronte presents
Bertha as a sexually vigorous woman. This can be seen when Rochester indirectly describes

The New School Occupation Analysis
The New School occupation issued their demands of resignation of Bob Kerrey and James
Murtha. I personally feel that, disruptive movements ought to make their demands known.
Demands serve as an outline of what a movement is trying to accomplish. Demands ground one s
struggle in terms that are easily recognizable, consensual, and strategic . It sets a goal that people
can either make a decision to follow or not. However, after reading the text it seems like it may be
more beneficial to not make any demands at all. Giving demands leaves you in the hands of those
with power. The whole idea according to the author is that the idea that demands are incredibly

Sixty students occupied the building for as long as it takes . Though mentioned above as being
unwise, and normally in many cases I would agree, in the case of the demands of the New
School occupation their demands were also the demands of the facility. Being that they were
paying students, who were granted the right to make decisions such as the ones that they were
demanding, that ultimately weren t being met, their demands were justified. The way that they
are going about the situation may take away from it or even devalue their demands but the
foundation of all their actions I m led to believe are in order. The best course of action for the
New School occupation would be to not list their demands. The most dangerous occupation would
be of one that demands nothing. Demanding nothing would tip the scale, it would force the police
or administration to offer things to the occupation as a means to a safe end. This give them all the
leverage. Until the proper reparations are offered and made the occupation would have every right

attempting to negotiate rather than get comfortable and settle down into their occupation.

monitoring software. The similarities are outnumbered by their differences, however, which does
include cost. The selection/analysis process is not being conducted by a committee, but is instead
being conducted by the Associate Provost for Student Success. Since there is no committee, he is
inviting representatives from all the affected departments to observe the demonstrations from the
vendors and asking for feedback of on their opinions. This has created some tension among various
groups on campus. The reason for this is that some of the software demonstrated could completely
change resources that not all agree would be improved. When it has been determined that there are
options that meet the needs of the college and its students, a screening process will occur with the
chosen vendors returning to campus to discuss in more detail the implementation of their product,

Let It Snow Analysis
A Blizzard of Emotion After reading several very different critical readings, Let it Snow stood
out the most. A story based around the author as a young child and his siblings during a snow
day seemed to be a rather strange basis for a story; however, the dark purpose of this story has
shed a light on the unnerving reality that sometimes a mother wanted peace a quiet and the only
way to achieve it, was to lock her kids out of the house. As the story progresses, it is truly evident
that the children may have died if their mother did not come for them. David Sedaris s Let it Snow
is an exemplary form of writing that introduces a strong conflict, descriptive character development,
and depicts strong emotion. In the beginning of the story the reader is introduced to a mother who
was getting fed up that her children had five days off school due to the snow storm that had hit
North Carolina. She began to have a small breakdown which led to booting her children into the
cold with the words, Get the hell out of my house! (Sedaris) The conflict began to develop after
the children were outside for several hours and when they decided that they could come home,
they found that the door was locked. They shouted and yelled to try to get her attention, but it
seemed to be of no use. The author and his siblings began to realize the harsh reality that they
could die out in the cold. They then devised an outrageous plan by allowing the author s youngest
sister lay in the road a get

The Tragic Incident That Happened At Waco
The mass media is responsible for providing the general public with information regarding current
events and issues that are occurring in the world. In addition, journalists have the ability to
influence and impact individuals ideologies about certain topics by the way they present the
information, either in a positive or negative manner (Beckford 1994). On the other hand,
scholarship strives to methodologically and critically study and analyze a phenomenon in order to
present factually correct information. Furthermore, this paper will discuss the difference between
journalismand scholarship, and will use the tragic incident that occurred at Waco as an example to
illustrate each fields differences in discussing/reporting the events that unfolded. To begin with, the
tragic incident that occurred at Waco between the Branch Deviants and government officials were
discussed differently between scholars and journalists (mass media). It is evident that news media
representations of the Waco and new religious groups in general, are depicted as being problematic
and deviant for society. In addition, the aftermath of Waco resulted in stories being published to
instill fear into the public about new religious movements (Beckford 1994).... Show more content on

In addition, debates surrounding the fire differ between scholars and journalists. According to
Dorman (2012:155), a recurrent theme that arises with the Waco incident within scholarship
/academia is that the federal agents caused the casualties at Waco, and thus were responsible for
starting the fire at Mount Carmel. While, journalists blame the Branch Deviants for starting the fire
and state it was a mass suicide (Beckford 1994). Although, scholars faced criticism for claiming
distrust in the government and their actions, these scholars were accused of being cult apologists
who ignored the dangers of NRMs (Dorman

Essay on Mongolian Management
The Mongolian Empire quickly conquered monumental sums of land in only a relatively small
amount of time, but their serious challenge was figuring out a way to govern and maintain the
newly acquired land. Genghis Khan united the Mongols and with their superior military skills, they
toppled the governments of surrounding nations and captured their lands. The Mongols who
occupied each subjected nation ruled the people and installed different government systems that fit
their liking. The Golden Horde, those who conquered the land of modern day Russia, decided to
tax their subjects and refuse to coexist with them. The Mongols in Persia created the Ilkhanate of
Persia, where the nomads assimilated into Persian cultures and societies and ruled... Show more

The fall of the Horde began because illnesses and assassins killed the Khan and his sons in quick
succession.

between 1355 and 1357 but died shortly thereafter.
Those under the rule of the Horde seized the opportunity and revolted, sacking Moscow in 1380.
After many twists and turns of battle, Egidu reclaimed Moscow, but the Horde was fragmenting
too quickly and a defect nation, Crimea, finished it off. The Mongols were very prosperous during
the time when they ruled due to their vassal relationship with the princes, but fell when the princes
realized their strength over the Horde. The Ilkhanate of Persia facilitated a mix of the native people
and the Mongols where the Mongols entered the lands and assimilated into the lives of the Persians,
making political decisions through the Khanate. When the Mongols conquered Persia, they settled
among the cities and began to become a part of the communities there. Ghazan helped bring the

The Jackson 5 Research Paper
In the late 1960s and early 1970s Motown released a new band called the Jackson 5. The band
consisted of brothers Jermaine Jackson, Randy Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson, and
Michael Jackson. They grew up and started their band in Gary, Indiana. Their father Joe Jackson
was their manager, he was a stern temperamental disciplinarian . It was also his idea to get his kids
into music because one day Joe came home and noticed that the boys where stealing his guitar and
playing it without permission. However, he then realized his sons had serious talent, and from that
day on he trained them. The Jackson 5started during 1966, during this year they did not perform
any big gigs. However, they did win an important talent competition with

Sherlock using the art of deduction can be commonly found within his stories. Weather he is
solving the murder mystery of the century, of figuring out what Dr. Watson had for breakfast, he
is constantly using it. Though deduction is a big part of his investigative process, Sherlock
doesn t only use his mind. The Sherlock from Sherlock has access to much more resources such
as DNA testing, super powerful microscopes, and access to all sorts of substances, than the
sherlock from the original novels, and only for one reason. Sherlock takes place in modern day
whereas the original novels were written and take place in the 1800s. For that reason, the sherlock
from the show can use different techniques for solving crimes than the Sherlock from the books by

  • 4. The Concept Of A Naval Battle The concept of a naval battle has been around since approximately 1210 B.C.E. However, it would be several thousands of years before its most important and revolutionary changes would be brought about. The idea of a submersible ship has been around since the Revolution, although its success was minimal at best. The first modern submarinewould be developed in the late 19th century and would be first used successfully in warfare by the Germans in World War 1. It arguably led to the American s victory over Japan in World War II. Since their development submarines have paved the way for the evolution of strategy, revolutionary new tactics, as well as playing a vital role in the nuclear triad, redefining war. No longer would the Mahanian strategy of a decisive battle be the norm, nor considered the best way to fight naval battles. With the advent of the submarine, navies could now look into denying their enemies the sea rather than struggling to control it (Hughes, n.d.). A contributing aspect of this sea denial is the ability to greatly extend coastal defense. Coastal defense can not be looked at in a traditional sense. These ships are not looking to simply defend the coast, but rather are cruising thousands of miles of shore to sink as much of the enemy fleet as possible, thereby crippling their ability to attack (Lautenschlager, 1987). Submarines also introduce a new element to psychological warfare. As stated in Karl Lautenschlager s publication for International Security, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Is English Native Speakers Use A Greater Number Of... Discussion The results of the analysis suggest that English native speakers use a greater number of singular self mention in linguistics research articles than scholars affiliated with Ukrainian universities, who avoid using them completely and rely on plural forms. This confirms the previous findings that primarily plural self mention is employed in academic writing in Slavic languages (Vassileva, 1998), and that academic texts in English by native speakers show the greatest use of singular forms in comparison to other languages (Flottum, 2005; Molino, 2010; Vassileva, 1998; Wu Zhu, 2014; Yakhontova, 2002; 2006). It can be assumed that, in American academic culture, scholars tend to establish their presence in the articles and show that research has been carried out exclusively by them and that the method and interpretations of findings are based on their own judgement. This way they might acknowledge the fact that although research should be an objective presentation of reality, it is still subjective because it is interpreted and documented by a researcher. In addition, since Americans are representatives of an individualistic culture, they might be willing to identify their personal contributions to the discourse. In contrast, Ukrainians writing in Ukrainian seem to distance or even remove themselves from the texts by using impersonal forms and plural self mention. Also, plural self mention is only expressed through verb inflections, which means that Ukrainians do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It wasn t until after he had slept with her that he left her for her cousin, Kate. The cottage maiden was devastated that he had done that to her. She felt unclean and unwanted. Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The poem demonstrates how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he pleases, and because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This brings into light the difference between higher and lower class people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not believe her and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations. According to the maiden, Kate s love was not real. O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was writ in sand . This tells us that Kate s love was going to disappear and was only a temporary emotion which was later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the maiden s love was real. The maiden may just be saying this for revenge against Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel better but we do not know. The Lord s love towards the maiden was not real, His plaything and his love . Plaything and love are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her for a while or was it all just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her then left her for Kate. The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used this, his power and his wealth against the maiden. Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and showcased Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will Hunting, showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were devastated when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how America s favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole world wondering who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras weren t rolling. Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the beginning of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans, 2016) In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard School of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a Hollywood actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before graduating and moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian. Act Of Thecla Essay The Acts of Thecla describes Thecla s trials and journey as she becomes Christian; this was written by the author as a way of emphasizing the importance of women s roles in Christianity. Compared to the other women protagonists that were read about in class, Penthesileia and Judith, Thecla is passive for a heroine. The author of The Acts of Thecla has a contrasting view of women in Christianity when compared to other Christians in the first two centuries of the Common Era. Having a femaleprotagonist is important to The Acts of Thecla because the trials she faced were specific to her role as a female. The hydrate is a compound formed by an ionic bond combined with the water molecule (known as water of hydration ) attached to it. So for every formula unit, there would be some amount of water molecule combined with the ionic compound and would act as a single compound. Our theoretical hydrate for this lab was CuSO4 * 5H2O. To remove the water from the compound and get the mass of the ionic compound, you need to follow the dehydrating procedure by heating. That would separate the ionic bond (CuSO4) from the water molecule(5H2O) once it reaches certain decomposition temperature. And to physically determine whether or not the water of hydration is removed, see the color, in our case, turning white from blue. Once the water molecules have entirely evaporated, the mass left would be the weight of the ionic compound (mass of CuSO4 in grams).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first way is to grant an easement to someone to use part of the land for a specified purpose, for example, if an electric company needs to install cables on someone s property the landowner can grant them an easement. Granting an easement does not deprive the owner of their property, it simply allows a part of the land to be used for a specific purpose. An easement that grants the right to do something is an affirmative easement, in contrast a negative easement would require a landowner to refrain from certain actions. For example, the owner could not increase the height of their dwelling as it would block the light from entering the holder of the negative easements property. Easements are not permanent, they may be terminated by a written agreement between the property owner and the easement holder. Licenses are similar to easements in that they grant permission to use the property in a specific way. The main difference between licenses and easements are that licenses are revocable by the granter at any time and may be granted orally. Finally, there are covenants which are promises made by the landowner with respect to the use of their land. Like easements, there are positive and negative covenants. The implementation of Activity Based Costing serves as a solution to this downside in traditional systems. Without these essential cultural components, life would be a sad place to live in, because no other cultural aspect would survive. The most essential cultural elements are Art and Literature, because art and literature lead into the other cultural aspects. Without arts and literature, you couldn t have the rest of the cultural elements. Culture manifested itself with the aid of art and literature, without the help of writing or art, cultural unity would be impossible.
