A Note On Disney s Disney

The first stock I decided to invest in was Disney. I chose this stock because I have been a Disney
fan my whole life. I think Disney will be a worthwhile stock to follow because it encompasses a
broad spectrum of smaller businesses such as entertainment and merchandise. Disney
demonstrates a consistent level of high quality and high standards in all it does. Disney is also
an innovative company. It always looks to improve and introduce new ideas in all its businesses,
whether it is a new ride in the parks or a new type of animation in its movies. With the company s
current success with its animated movie Frozen and the completion of New Fantasyland in
Disneyworld, the company has been seeing an increase in sales. This in turn, will lead to higher
stock values in the company. Disney is a brand that is familiar to the majority of Americans and
should be a solid company to invest in.
The Walt DisneyCompany was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Studios. Founded by Walt
Disney and his brother, Roy Disney, the company first began their animation work on a series
known as Alice Comedies. These shorts combined both animations with live action video. After the
production of the first short, the company had to file for bankruptcy. The cartoon, however, was
very successful, allowing the brothers to reopen where they continued the production of Alice
Comedies. In 1927, Walt Disney decided to create a new character to

Little Rock Nine! The end or the beginning? The Little Rock Nine had a huge impact on the world,
but at the time, they just thought that they were nine students going through unfair treatment,
harassment, threats, protesting, and assaults. Through it all, they were determined to make this
work whether they were to be accepted or not. They stirred up a chapter of history that would
become an important part of the Civil Rights Movement (Natasha). Most people would say that
once you go through certain things, they change you and some would say for the better and some
would say for the worst. It all depends on how you look at it and if you want to learn from it or let

They said that Daisy was the poster child for black resistance (Daisy Bates and the Little Rock Nine
). After all that she had been through as a kid, she was a strong young woman. Her mother was
murdered while resisting rape by three white men. She loved her adoptive parents though
(Taylor 39). Daisy Bates was the one of the main people who helped the kids get into Central
High and helped make their transition as smooth as possible. She was their voice when they felt
like no one would listen to them. she was the one who stood her ground to all the mean white
people. she was the one who understood what these kids were going through, not that other
people didn t but she was the one that was walking in their shoes right along with them. When
anything that would have made the kids back out, she was the one of the first people to know
and she would tell the kids but made sure that they could do this and that they were strong for
doing so. She made the kids feel good about the things they were doing for the Civil Rights
Movement. She was always looking out for their best interests and she kept it at heart. When she
felt something, she went with it and no one ever questioned her. Daisy was always trying to keep
the kids safe so when a young reporter came to her and said sending those kids alone would be
murder (Taylor 44). It not only made her uneasy, but also worried her and some of the other

Java Programming
Introduction
Java was developed by a team led by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems. Originally called Oak, it
was designed in 1991 for use in embedded consumer electronic appliances. In 1995, renamed Java,
it was redesigned for developing Internet applications.
Java is a full featured, general purpose programming language that is capable of developing robust
mission critical applications. Today, it is used not only for Web programming, but also for
developing standalone applications across platforms on servers, desktops, and mobile devices. It
was used to develop the code to communicate with and control the robotic rover that rolled on
Mars. Many companies that once considered Java to be more hype than substance are now using it

Note
In addition to the two comment styles, // and /*, Java supports comments of a special type,
referred to as javadoc comments. javadoc comments begin with /** and end with */. They are used
for documenting classes, data, and methods. They can be extracted into an HTML file using JDK s
javadoc command.
1.10.2. Reserved Words
Reserved words, or keywords, are words that have a specific meaning to the compiler and cannot
be used for other purposes in the program. For example, when the compiler sees the word class, it
understands that the word after class is the name for the class. Other reserved words in Listing 1.1
are public, static, and void. Their use will be introduced later in the book.
Tip
Because Java is case sensitive, public is a reserved word, but Public is not. Nonetheless, for clarity
and readability, it would be best to avoid using reserved words in other forms.
1.10.3. Modifiers
Java uses certain reserved words called modifiers that specify the properties of the data, methods,
and classes and how they can be used. Examples of modifiers are public and static. Other
modifiers are private, final, abstract, and protected. A public datum, method, or class can be
accessed by other classes. A private datum or method cannot be accessed by other classes.
1.10.4. Statements
A statement represents an action or a sequence of actions. The statement System.out.println(
Welcome to Java! ); in the program in Listing 1.1 is a statement to

The Crimean War And Its Lack Of Modernization
The Crimean War was the war between Great Britain, French, and along with some other countries
against Russia. While Russia led by Nicholas I, entered to the Crimean War to defend Orthodox
Christian within the autocrat empire; French entered this war because they promoted the Catholics
Christian; Great Britain wanted to maintain the autocrat empire and maintain power (Aksakov and
Danielevsky, 378 389). It was an absolute humiliating when Russiadefeated the war. The Russian
military was outplayed because the British had much more sophisticated weapons, technology, and
supply line (Riasanovsky and Steinberg, 366). Many liberal, conservative, and Russian people
believed that the defeat of Russia in the Crimean Warwas evidence of Russia s economy and
material backwardness and fallen behind many European nations (lecture, 10/19). This led to the
forces of modernization .
Defeat in the Crimean War made Russia s lack of modernization clear. The first step toward
modernization was the emancipation of serfdom. Soon after the war end Nicholas I came to end
of his life. Alexander II was on the throne and the Great Reform period of Russia began. He first
issued the emancipation manifesto in 1861. Alexander II took steps to improve the condition of the
peasantry. But these steps were only partly successful, depending as they did on the goodwill and
voluntary action of landlords (Cracraft, 340). Therefore convinced that the task of improving the
condition of the peasants kind of

The Characters Of Education In Atticus Finch And Bob Ewell
During the Great Depression in the 1930 s over twelve million people were unemployed causing
people to become poor and homeless. The Great Depression affected those who had education
and worsened the living conditions for those who were less educated. In the novel, To Kill a
Mockingbird, Harper Lee compares two completely different people, Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell
to display how education affected different social castes in society. In the 1930 s the Great
Depressioncame along as a tragic era making education forgotten as America faced other issues.
At this time, Atticus, a white man and a father of two kids strives to portray an example of how
important education is in a time of struggle. On the other hand the character Bob Ewell is, a
white man, is poor and extremely ignorant to the value education and believes it has no effect on
society. Atticus and Bob are men of different beliefs and values. [Through the characterization of
Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell the readers can believe compassion is reached through education,
which a man with compassion and education for their community can lead to humanity.] Atticus
is a well educated man as he demonstrates outstanding habits through his actions. After, Scout
asks why Atticus is defending Tom Robinson he say, For a number of reasons, the main one is, if
I didn t I couldn t hold up my head in town, I couldn t represent this county in the legislature, I
couldn t even tell you or Jem not to do something again. [...] Scout, simply by the nature of the
work, every lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that affects him personally. This one s
mine, I guess (Lee 56). Atticus, a man of great knowledge proves how respected he is in
Maycomb County. He points out that only men with knowledge and education are able to take
on a big responsible such as the one he is given. The purpose of this quote is to signify the
importance of education and how it lead him to such a high position in society. Compared to Bob
Ewell, Atticus contains the sification of how to action in times of importance. This affects the way
people view Atticus because now he s accepted and known as The Lawyer for Tom Robinson. For
example, after scout tells Atticus she doesn t want

Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada Essay
Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada
The Oscar won documentary Bowling for Columbine has aroused people s awareness of gun
ownership and gun control issues. Should gun ownership be banned or should guns be controlled?
Does gun ownership create a violent society? The answer is not measurable, however, from the
firearm situation between America and Canada, the answer is more obvious. America probably has
the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. In Canada, the percentage of Canadian households
with a rifle is approximately equal to the level in United States. According to the statistics of gun
murder rates around the world from Bowling for columbine , America has 11,127 gun ... Show more

Despite having one of the highest rates of gun ownerships, Canada actually has the lowest crime
rate in the world. Well, a uniform federal firearms control system seems far more important than the
number of gun ownership. In order to reduce the availability of guns, strict regulations should be
addressed. Any occupant who conditionally needs a gun should acquire a certificate from both the
police and doctors. Personal and medical details of gun owner should be honestly provided.
According to the gun control system established in Canada, Canadians who wish to purchase a gun
must acquire a Firearm Acquisition Certificate from the police. In order to obtain a Firearms
Acquisition Certificate, am applicant must provide identification and background information,
including addresses for the past five years. Unlike some American states, applicants are not
acquired to supply medical information to the police.
Apart from applying for gun certificates, the restriction of uses of certain guns should be
regulated so as to ensure no collateral effect. For example, the Canadian FAC system includes
control of restricted weapons and prohibited weapons. Restricted weapons must be stored only in
one s home or place of business depending on terms of the registration certificate. Prohibited
weapons, such as shotguns, sawed off rifles and silencers are absolutely illegal in Canada. In

Eugene Sandow s Bodybuilding And The Bodybuilding Industry
Eugene Sandow started bodybuilding in the late nineteenth century. He was known of his time to
have a great physique, and it drew many admirers. Known as The Father of Bodybuilding , he
began the bodybuilding industry by promoting competitions and selling exercise equipment.
Today, the bodybuilding industry is as big as ever as more people are interested in achieving their
ideal physique. The image of bodybuilders is still viewed negatively by the public. When people
hear of bodybuilding, they most often think of big, steroid abusing tools that are obsessed with
gaining muscle. They fail to observe the deeper reasoning behind bodybuilding. Fictional accounts
of bodybuilders, endured by writers who did not experience the lifestyle, is a moral transgression. It
is a moral transgression to write fictional accounts on bodybuilding because it is a form of art. It is
an art in which the artists (bodybuilders) present their physique as the artwork. Bodybuilders spend
hours at the gym to sculpt, and manipulate the size of their musculature by performing strenuous
exercises and consistently eating nutritious foods. Bodybuilding shows are not all about muscle, but
the overall beauty of the artwork. The World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF), a well
known bodybuilding federation, states, Athletes are judged in two rounds: Symmetry encompasses
overall balance and conditioning. Muscularity and conditioning judges mass, definition, and
proportion . It is wrong to just think

Rhetorical Analysis Of Eminem Is Right
In Eminem Is Right Mary Eberstadt uses Ethos, Pathos, and Kairos effectively to touch on a very
talked about topic at the turn of the century. Eberstadt uses these rhetoric devices to take a different
approach on the content of today s music. Ethos is used to connect a relationship between the
themes in the different generation of music, Pathos to look behind the words used in the music, and
Kairos gives more strength to the other rhetorical devices used in the article. Eminemmight just be
right according to Mary Eberstadt.
Eberstadt uses Ethos effectively to explain the relationship between the themes found in today s
music and why it is so popular with teenagers. Eberstadt states that, The odd truth about

She talks about how although music has always romanticized illicit drug use and alcohol abuse .

(Eberstadt 186). In the article Eberstadt then says that, What distinguishes them most clearly is
the fixation on having been abandoned personally by the adults supposedly in charge, with
consequences ranging from bitter ness to rage bad, sick, and violent behavior , a trait the draws
attention away from the simpler reason of why a teenager would like a certain type of music
and focuses more on the emotional state of the person. Eberstadt talks about a painful truth, the
emotional downward mobility , where she touches on how parents raise their kids nowadays
(Eberstadt 186). It s a more emotional approach on why teenagers lash out. It makes you ask
yourself if Eminem is right? Are the songs popular just because of the straight forward lyrics, or
because they speak a truth that most people feel guilty about. Eberstadt finishes the article by
saying, If this spectacle alone doesn t tell us something about the ongoing emotional costs of
parent child separation on today s out size scale, it s hard to see what could and it emphasizes
again that this is more than just the words, but a social dilemma that should be taking seriously

Proper Healthy Lifestyles
Proper healthy lifestyles start at the households and begin with parenting. Our leaders of Guam
need to recognize that diabetes is a growing issue on the island. Diabetes leads to strokes and
heart attacks, which are some of the common cause of death on this island. The main problem is
that people on the island of Guam fail to understand the seriousness of diabetes. It is always fun
and nice to see a supposedly overweight child because to the cultural norm it is acceptable in
society.
People fail to realize that we are placing a huge burden on innocent lives who somewhat don t
have any control over their eating habits. We must start to treat the patients on Guam rather than
the statistical numbers. The life expectancy is estimated around 76 years, but it used to be longer
in the olden days. The lifestyle as well as the economy has made a major impact on the people of
Guam s health. Parents are not doing their children a favor by practicing poor eating habits and
partaking in smoking and drinking routines. This issue is definitely obvious and the dialysis
treatment centers are continuing to grow. That is one treatment center to be proud of because it
just states that the island of Guam has an underlying problem with health issues. If the community
cannot participate and promote good health the island will not be the same in 10 years.
Diabetic patients will not have a comfortable lifestyle and they will continue to worsen over time.

Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War
Out of the first sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln was the first president who created
foundation about ending slaves in America via his Emancipation of Proclamation. Lincoln was also
a strong supporter for Homestead Act and The Pacific Railway Act, which became an essential law
for American economics. Furthermore, 13th Amendment was Lincoln top priority in legislation
after he was reelected as the President. President Abraham Lincolntruly became one of the greatest
presidents via these achievements. In the presidential election of 1860, Abraham Lincoln was
elected to become the 16th President and this presidential result began a civil war in America.
During the election, most of the Southern states did not vote for Abraham Lincoln because they
knew that Lincoln was against slavery, which violated Southern states constitution. In April 12,
1861, the Civil War occurred and main reason of the war was because Lincoln believed that slavery
should be banned. Lincoln s belief showed that he thought everyone should have their freedom to
live. In January 1, 1863, Lincoln introduced Emancipation of Proclamation even though the civil
war was about his banning slavery policy and belief. The Proclamation declared that all persons held
as slaves within the rebellious states are, and henceforward shall be free (The Emancipation
Proclamation). The Proclamation brought Abraham many advantages when it first introduced. It

Introduction
Social polarisation is the widening gap within a given society that emerges from income disparities
within individuals causing various social groups, from high income to low income. It entails the
expansion of jobs that require low skills while at the same time, jobs that require higher
professionals and expertise still experience growth. There is a rising concern on issues of social
polarisation and cohesion that stem from the observation that in many countries, societies maybe

Rents have also gone up, and those residents who cannot keep up with the high rates move out of
the favelas. The current socioeconomic disparities in Brazil, that of wide income levels between the
rich and the poor, encourages the rapid growth of favelas. For instance, in Rio de Janeiro, political
prisoners who have a good educational background remain in prison with drug dealers permitting
them to create a criminal network that has excellent organizational structures. The syndicate that
results, Commando Vermehlo, cunningly plans to expand social programs in the favelas using
the proceeds of cocaine sales. By helping many of the poor favela residents, they gain a lot of
support, which makes it challenging for the police subject the culprits to legal prosecution. Due to
a rise in arrests by the police, the Commando Vermehlo came to a standstill and the favelas
remained under the control of different drug dealers. Income disparities among residents living in
favelas also encourage the trade of drugs since it is more profitable than honest labor. The rich also
fuel conflicts in favelas by purchasing drugs and failing to push for changes that could improve the
living standards in the favelas.

How Scheduled Maintenance Can Ultimately Save You Money
How Scheduled Maintenance Can Ultimately Save You Money
Keeping on top of your vehicle maintenance will cost some money. However, this investment can
pay big dividends down the road. Discover how people will know if the car has been well
maintained and the effect this will have on the value in a private sale or trade in situation at a car
dealership. We ll also outline several ways to find out what services are due on your vehicle and
how to cut costs on these important repairs.
The First Step in the Process
When you bring home that new or used vehicle the first thing you need to do is to create a
dedicated folder for it. There s a lot of paperwork associated with the purchase of an automobile
and this belongs in your folder. As time moves on you will collect receipts for motor vehicle
records, warranty repairs, completed recalls, maintenance services, parts and accessory purchases,
cleaning supplies and detail services. All of these things will go in your folder.
Very few sellers of automobiles have a rock solid organized history from the day the vehicle was
purchased, but now you will. If you sell the automobile to a private party you ll be able to instill a
level of confidence that your competition will not. Even if you decide to trade the vehicle at a
dealership they will have to consider these records into the value of the trade.
The Value of a Well maintained Automobile
There s no question that the condition of the automobile plays a large role in its value.

The Civil Rights Movement And The LGBTQ Rights Movement
Civil Rights Movement and The LGBTQ Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movement in the
1960s and the LGBTQ rights movement happening now seem different on the surface but are
more similar underneath. Many of the differences found between the two movements are only
comparing the outer layer and not what is going on below that layer. When you look at how
similar they are at the core, you will start to see a scary trend in the way people treat minorities
in our society. The disturbing truth is people fear differences. The two movements were started
during different times. The Civil Rights Movement started in 1955 and continued till 1968
(Janken). The LGBTQ movement was officially founded in 1986 and is still going on now
(LGBTQ). African Americans in the past and present are being discriminated against and
oppressed because of their skin color (Patterson). The LGBTQ community is oppressed and
discriminated against for their sexuality and gender (Singh and Durso). In the 1960s, the African
Americans were legally segregated from the majority because it was easy to tell the difference
between the oppressive group and the oppressed group (Jim). Looking at someone will not reveal
what their sexuality is, so this makes it difficult for the oppressors to separate them from the
majority group. These differences create the idea that each movement is happening for unique
reasons, but this is only when you look at the top layer of the movements. We know that both

Difference Between Polyface And Industrial Model Of Food...
Key differences between the operating system of Polyface and the industrial model of food
production 1.Polyface model Integrated strategy: Polyface is a small scale, community oriented
farming. It was envisioned to be an environmentally sustainable farm, effectively utilizing the
resources inherent in the land, and mimicking the natural ecosystem. The activities of the farm
animals complimented each other and contributed to the overall effectiveness and productivity of
the farm s system. The waste produced was ultimately returned back to the land. For example
Polyface utilized excreta and composted internal organs of the farm animals for use as natural
fertilizer for the grass. It believed in nature s biodiversity system and maintained its animal ratio
accordingly to suit that system. For example the hen to cow ratio was 16:1 which effectively
helped process the cow manure. Polyface focused on organic farming, selling the bulk of their
products locally. Compared to the industrial model, Polyface produced... Show more content on

For example Polyface produced variety of products: beef, pork, chicken, turkey, rabbit, eggs,
vegetables etc. the infrastructure cost was $0.50 per $1 of sales compared to $4 per $1 of sales
for other farms. This was because it was used for various purposes for different species
throughout the year. Polyface has been able to leverage the operational synergies between its
various inter dependant processes and it has also utilized the waste it produces to further its
operational efficiency. The main difficult aspect in such a case is to manage the inter
dependencies between the processes as a problem in one process will affect the other. Since the
proportional output level is determined by the process synergies. In case of any expansion the
challenge is to ensure that the operational synergies are not

When a president makes his inauguration speech, it usually talks about what is going on with the
country, and illustrates what will be done to fix it. Compared to his predecessors, Trump s speech
was much shorter. I am convinced that he thought that he best thing to do was play it safe in the
speech to save himself from all the criticism that he could. This did not however work out in his
favor for the reason that he might have said more about his presidency by saying less. Trump
opened his speech, not talking about what previous presidents accomplished, instead just
acknowledged and thanked them. It is a very simple and safe introduction to a speech that will

Disability And Disability
The term bureaucracy means to rule by desks or offices. Bureaucrats implement government policy
by putting laws and decisions made by elected individuals into action. Over time, many different
people have defined the concept of disability in many different ways. This becomes a major issue
when the definition of disabilityneeds to be defined by the government, because of the laws and

defined in a certain way affects the policies that the bureaucracies implement, so it is important
to look at the history of disability and the several models one can use to analyze it, as it decided
the fate of several people across the United States. Through historical, medical, and bureaucratic
contexts, it can be seen how far the disabilities movement has come within law, and where it is
heading in the future. The beginning of disability being encoded into law started with the Civil
War. This first started with the making of the Civil War draft, which was brought about when
both the North and South needed to recruit men to fight in the war. The draft was made first by
creating a standard of normality, and an able bodied soldier was the model for this standard. This
later led to decisions that had to be made about who was able bodied and how it was defined.
Once the standard was created, men were evaluated compared to that standard, and were drafted if
they fit (Class notes 9/7). This impacted

Deviation Of Height
I am confident that my results are correct because when I was doing my research to find the
mean of heights of males in the United States, I found similar sites that gave the same mean
average. The results of the average mean of males in the US is relatively close to the result I
found during my research, which made me feel pretty confident that I was headed in the right
direction. To find the standard deviation of heights of males in the US is impossible because you
would have to measure everyone s height, which no one has done before. When I found my

conducting my experiment I realize now that your age does not affect your height. When
conducting this experiment, the two types of errors type 1 and type 2 could have occurred

Gay Bars And Gay Nightclubs
Introduction Since the 1930s, gay bars and gay nightclubs have been around. The bar called
White Horse, in Oakland, California, has been opened since 1933. It is known to be the first gay
bar to be opened here in America. Being gay in the 1930s was brutal. Same gender sex was a
felony, and being caught in a gaybar could cost someone their job. In a society that viewed gays
as barley human, the White Horse allowed a level of freedom that in the 1940s or 1950s was
liberating (Duffy 2016). With time changes and people being more accepted, gay bars and gay
nightclubs started opening all across America. One of the many gay nightclubs here in Denver is
known as Tracks. It was opened in 1980. On October 5th, 2017, an experimental observation at the
Tracks nightclub was made. During this experience, it was observed that these people that
identified as either gay, lesbian, or bisexual were acting as normal human beings in a heterosexual
nightclub. Although the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender movement acts have been
created to allow this community to be more opened and unafraid, it has had a history of having
psychological components such as depression, and social components such as relationships with
one another, and of course the history within hate crimes towards the LGBTcommunity.

How Did Ancient Greek Culture Influence Ancient American...
People come and go, but their work of art and ideas can flourish for eternity. Art makes history

currently, no matter if it s a person or a thing, is all result of the past. Stuff doesn t just pop out of

philosopher, Marcus Tullius Cicero once said, To be ignorant of what occurred before you were

American s interest in ancient Greek culture develops when they sense that there s a connection
between them: ...the Greek War of Independence against Turkish domination aroused the
sympathy of our citizens, who saw in the Greek struggle for freedom a parallel to our own War
of Independence (Downs 173). The parallelism is that they both have experience of battling for
freedom from a controlling country. Another relation that makes the Americans appreciate the
Greek culture even more is the archeological discovery showing Greece as the birthplace of
democracy: As the Greek Revival style unfolded and developed in the United States it became as
indigenous to the soil of our system of law...and our democratic system of government, which
was founded on the ancient ideal of individual freedom (Downs 176). After studying and getting
hold of the architectural idea and vocabulary, Greek architecture soon becomes America s
national style. The classical look of the Greek architectural are made up of three primary orders:
Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Doric being the oldest and simplest of the three: The Doric order
is characterized by a plain, unadorned column capital and a column that rests directly on the
stylobate of the temple without a base...entablature includes a frieze composed of triglyphs and
metopes. The columns are fluted and are of sturdy, if not stocky, proportions (Becker 1). The
Doric is best describe as the most understated style with a masculine appearance out of the three
orders. Despite the simplest look of the Doric, it is the most popular. The Parthenon, also known
as the epitome of Greek culture, is built under the Doric order. Famous works of the Doric order
in the United States can be seen on the design of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C and the
Justice Hall Building in New York City. Next is the Ionic: notable for its graceful

Computer Viruses And Its Effects On A Computer System
A computer virus is a malware program that, when executed copies itself into other data files,
computer programs, or the boot sector of the hard drive with 95% of viruses doing no more than
that. (1)(2). A virus might attach itself to a program such as a word document program. Each
time the word document program runs, the virus runs too and it has the chance to reproduce by
attaching to other programs. (3) Nowadays, it is extremely important to be aware of viruses
because they can cause very dangerous consequences such as identity theft and fraud. When
people generally think about computer viruses, they normally think about an attack on a
computer system, however, they may not be aware of how common computer viruses are. It can
be beneficial to know a few of the different types of viruses, the kind of damage they can cause
and methods to protect yourself from them. In this essay, we will be covering when computer
viruses first made an appearance and contrasting this to how they are like now on social media.
Also, we will be covering how they work and what can be done to prevent the growing risks of
computer viruses on social media. Computer viruses were first widely seen in the late 1980s,
with earlier viruses being pieces of code embedded in a larger, legitimate program such as a
spreadsheet program or a game. When the user downloads and runs this program, the virus loads
itself into memory then looks for any other programs on the disk. If it can find one, it modifies the

A Study On The Healthcare Field
From an early age, I gained much knowledge about the healthcare field. My younger brother was
diagnosed with Autism, Psychosis, and Asperger. My mother was diagnosed with depression,
anxiety disorder, diabetes and hyper blood tension. Due to my mom not being educated, she
cannot read or write in Spanish or English. I was forced to learn everything in the healthcare field.
I quickly became intrigued of each specialized field when I took my family to their doctors
appointments. A few qualities I looked for when searching for new physicianwas affordability,
patient satisfaction, and a well organized practice. Not everyone has affordable insurance, or
receives the best quality of care due to poor organized facilities. My true passion towards the
healthcare field arose when I started on my career in the financial department. I knew that I wanted
to help a group of people and the healthcare facilities to create affordable and quality care. As the
next healthadministrative leader I wantto make a difference by offering a well managed healthcare
facility, providing effective quality care, and high patient satisfaction to all healthcare facilities. In
my current role as a financial counselor, I am exposed to several diverse backgrounds, insurances,
and medical procedures. Each day I learn something new and met new patients that hold an
interesting story. I have learned that their stories are never the same and it s important to treat them

psychologists or psychiatrists are considered as something taboo, since they have the connotation

The Crucifixion By Brecht Durer Analysis
Brecht Durer once said, What beauty is, I know not, though it adheres to many things. Brecht
Durer was a German painter, print maker, and theorist who was born on May 21, 1471 and died on
April 6, 1528 in Nuremberg, Germany. His extensive work in printmaking established his reputation
in Europe, making him one of the leading artists of the Renaissanceperiod. A print is a work of art
made up of ink on paper and existing in multiple examples. Durer s woodcut prints often depicted
religious subjects and revealed technical skills that had never before been seen. Woodcut is a
technique in printmakingwhere the artist carves images from a piece of wood. Then it is covered
with a thin layer of ink so the carved parts remain ink less. His woodcut piece, The Crucifixion,

1. How Does RNA Differ From DNA
1) How does RNA differ from DNA? According to the video, RNA is made of nucleotide building
block, but is a single stranded. DNA often exists as a double stranded molecule made of four
building blocks called nucleotides. RNA contains Uracil as DNA contains Thymine. DNA is most
often used to store genetic information, while RNAserves as a host of functions.

There is much scientific debate about whether viruses are alive. Like living creatures, they carry
genes and evolve. They are unable to reproduce on their own and must infect living cells and
hijack cellular machinery such as ribosomes to copy themselves. Each virus is like a little tank
that can blast a hole in the outer cell wall and send its forces in. These intruders change the
blueprints in the factory s headquarters so the factory starts producing more viral tanks. It doesn t
stop until it builds so many tanks that the cell bursts right open. Most viruses are little more than
genetic information DNA or RNA inside a protein shell. They bind to a cell and inject their genetic
code inside
9) How does RNA interference help scientists study genes?
Scientists can use the same basic mechanism of RNA interference to turn off one geneat a time and
study the effect on the cell and the organism. For example, turning off one gene may drain all the
pigment out of a purple flower. Another might prevent a plant from producing a toxic chemical,
making it safe to eat. Scientists have not yet determined whether human cells naturally fight
viruses with RNAi, but it is possible that one day we will be able to use RNAi to deactivate cancer
causing genes and genetic disorders.

The Importance Of Public Service Announcements
No one gets up in the morning and says I think that I will drive distracted so that I can kill myself
or take the life of an innocent bystander today, but that is exactly what happens over nine times a
day in the United States because of distracted driving. Nine lives are cut short. The United States
Department of Transportation reports that cell phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each
year that cause half million injuries. Individuals who drive while sending or reading text messages
are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car crash than other drivers. There are many media
campaigns that have used Public Service Announcements with no effect on reducing the number of
distracted driving incidents because teens are overwhelmingly compelled to constantly monitor and
respond to their cell phones because they do not believe that anything bad will ever happen them.
So, wasting more dollars on Public Service Announcements will not reduce the number of distracted
driving incidents. Hopefully, technological advances can countermand the teen brain. Nevertheless,
some say that Public Service Announcements that make an emotional appeal utilizing convincingly
credible logical information do help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents by making
teens aware of the terrible consequences that can occur from distracted driving. Granted that, no one
sets out to take the life of another or their own, but the teenage mind can t wrap its self around the

White And Brown Dwarfs Essay
Astronomy Project
Questioning: What is a neutron star and how have scientists been able to research them?
What are the differences between white and brown dwarfs and why do we study them?
Are there multiple ways for a star to form or is there only one?
When the core of a massive star experiences a huge gravitational collapse, the end of its life only
starts another s. During this process, protons and electrons are packed together so tightly, that they
leave behind a neutron star. These stars and many others form in a variety of ways. In order for
the neutron star to form, neutron degeneracy must halt the collapse. Although this is true for
many stellar masses, those less than about 1.44 solar masses form white dwarfs when the
collapse is ceased by electron degeneracy. Despite the name, brown dwarfs are not very similar to
white dwarfs. Each form very differently, for a brown dwarf is considered a failed star to many
scientists. Brown dwarfs are both smaller than stars and larger than planets as large as those like
Jupiter. Therefore, the insufficient mass in the star is not able to ... Show more content on

Their name was chosen simply because, at the time, astronomers did not know what color these
objects would have. Although they are this large and have an even larger mass, their size is not
considered vast enough to become a star. Because of their insufficient mass, brown dwarfs have
an inability to produce the temperatures necessary to trigger the thermonuclear reactions that
power other stars. The first brown dwarf was not discovered until 1995, and are, according to
astronomy professor Ian S. McLean, formed along with stars by the contraction of gases and dust
in the interstellar medium. Two types of brown dwarfs would include the classifications of T
Dwarfs and Y Dwarfs. Scientists are not sure what color Y Dwarfs are, but know that T Dwarfs

Review of Social Psychology Book by Claude Steele
Claude Steele, in his book Whistling Vivaldi, sheds new light on how pervasive stereotypes can
influence individual s behavior and academic performance, and how they perpetuate in different
social groups. Stereotype threat, as defined by Steele, is being at risk of confirming, as self
characteristic, a negative stereotypeabout a social group one identifies with.
(Steele, 1997) It is a general phenomenon standard predicament of life that springs from

For example, Asian males are under the stereotype that they excel in math. When Asian males
who are relatively weak at math (compared to others in the group) are exposed to such identity
contingencies, they may be facing the fear of disconfirming the group s positive stereotype and
result in low performance. The pressure to perform as well as expected may create anxiety from
the possibility of being the atypical subtype of the group. Also, Walton has proposed a theory of
stereotype lift, which is enhancement in performance when people are exposed to negative
stereotype. (Walton Cohen, 2003) To strengthen the conclusions of the research, collecting samples
across populations with varying aspects should be considered.
Since stereotype threat has proven to be such a big factor affecting stereotyped individuals
academic achievement, many researchers have turned their attention toward reducing such threats.
Psychological intervention allowing minority students to become less susceptible to negative
stereotypes about the group s abilities significantly improved their performance at school for a long
time. Encouraging self affirmation allowed people to affirm their self worth and perceive

Studies on China Economy
Victor Alberto Han Zou
2014059013 The Transition and Opening up and Growth of the Service Sector of China
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to show the transition of China from an economy dominated by the
manufacturing to a more stable economy dominated by services. In recent years, many people were
thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to
7%. Well, that is an intentional cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from
industrial to service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial
sector was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China is changing
this to a more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service sector and the 12th Five
Year Plan of China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish this task. In 2013, for the first time of the
history the service sector overpass the industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP.
Key words: Transition, Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Sector, Tertiary Industry, and
Sustainable Economy.
I.Introduction
Since 1978 when Deng Xiaoping took away the centrally planned economy and introduced the
capitalistic market reform, China has witnessed tremendous transitions and growth. This
tremendous growth lasted for 30 years. Between 1983 and 2013, the GDP of China has an annual
grow of 10.2%. Also, China has transformed from a sleeping rural, to a giant

Yahoo Corporate Governance in Microsoft Takeover
Yahoo Corporate Governance and the Microsoft Takeover We are studying the potential buyout
of Yahoo by Microsoft from the perspective of Yahoo s Board of Directors. Yahoo! Inc. provides
Internet services to users, advertisers, publishers and developers worldwide. It offers online
properties and services to users; and marketing solutions and tools to advertisers and publishers.
For example, Yahoo! Finance is a portal for information on general financial conditions and
specific firm information. It is also the second largest internet search engine on the planet, behind
Google, which is also their main competitor. Jerry Yang, 39, is Co Founder, CEO, Chief Yahoo!

For the past few years, Microsoft Corporation, the software behemoth located in Redmond
Washington, has been looking to acquire Yahoo!, Inc. While Microsoft Corp. has numerous
reasons to be interested in acquiring Yahoo!, there are few options available for Yahoo! Inc.
Like Google s purchase of Double Click in 2007, Microsoft sees Yahoo! as a way to extract
internet advertising revenue. Further, Microsoft has for years sought to build a winning portal
that could dominate the search engine market, currently dominated by Google. MSN was
Microsoft s version of AOL. Even after years of Research Development in this area, Microsoft
still only has 19% of the internet search engine market (and that s because of ISP bundling and
desktop default presets.) Actual search engine use of MSN is much lower than 19%. Google is
a money maker and has a dominating market share. Beyond the search engine market, there also
is that innovation nirvana for which Microsoft is always searching. It wasn t Hotmail, it wasn t
MSN maps, it wasn t SoapBox, and the list of Microsoft Corp. disappointments goes on. Now they
decided to go for a big acquisition. Microsoft s original unsolicited offer of $44.6 billion for a
complete buyout of Yahoo! Was rejected by Yahoo! s board. Microsoft has continued to revise
their bids, increasing it to $47.5B to no avail. This initial bid was $31 per share a 62% premium for

Midas Touch From Greek Mythology
My favorite Myth is The Midas Touch from greek Mythology. The Moral of the story is that
riches are not the most important thing in life. The way this myth goes is that a satyr a half man
half goat parties to hard one night and finds himself drunk. While he was drunk he fell asleep in a
rosebush of the Palace where the king Midaslives. While he was asleep the next morning Princess
Zoe went outside and found him sleeping there and thought he was a normal goat but in reality he
was a satyr and he was ugly.
The princess called the gardener over and told him to take the thing out but then king midas
appeared and saw the creature and wanted him to stay. For the next week king Midas had
treated the satyr as a high honored guest everyone was not fond of this especially since he
barged into the palace kitchens and demanded food and wine. All the while the king treated him
like any other one of the royal family no one knew why and no one really wanted to know. For
about a week everyone dealt with it but after that they decided to end it and they kicked the satyr

Coordinate Reference System
1.What is the difference between a coordinate reference system and a projection (transformation)?
Why would you want to change your coordinate reference system during any analysis? Remember
that a coordinate reference system is a special type (and thought of as a key component) of the
broader concept of spatial reference system .
The difference between a coordinate reference system and a projection (transformation) are that a
projection provides various mechanisms to project maps of the earth s spherical surface onto a two
dimensional Cartesian coordinate plane whereas a coordinate reference system enables geographic
datasets to use common locations for integration. A coordinate systemis a reference system used to

Themes of Hopelessness in Herman Melville’s Bartleby the...
We can never be one hundred percent certain of the validity of our literary analyses. This is
especially the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for
decades to make sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know
better than the critics, but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my
observations and analysis, Melville s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the
character of Bartleby, but also the dead letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall
Street itself works well to develop a sense of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story
as well as the narrator and consequently the reader. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He [the lawyer] refers to Turkey as a most valuable person to me (p. 22) and to Nippers as a very
useful man to me (p. 25). Even Ginger Nut, the office boy, is useful in that his duty as cake and
apple purveyor (p. 27) pacifies Turkey and Nippers and thus keeps them working. In other words,
the lawyer considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from
their labor. (Wilson)
Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office,
greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way.
As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself
as a type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he
refuses to do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not
serve the function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the
letters are undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed. Bartleby would prefer not to do
anything and thus wasted away to death a drawn out process of content destruction. In this case the
content refers to Bartleby s soul (1098) and hope, and eventually, self.
We can expect that the lawyer s prolonged exposure to an attitude such

Beyond these factors, there is evidence of a pathophysiological role for inflammation and
oxidative stress in CKD and its complications [2]. These two events are prominent features of
CKD and its complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was
found in CKD, in the presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic
microinflammation and infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia
senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus
oligosaccharides and glycoproteins [1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source,
climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest producer, followed by many other African countries.
It readily dissolves in water to form solutions characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use
in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the
Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people
in Western Sudan had been using it for long time without limitations. It is indigestible to both
humans and animals, not degraded in the intestine, but fermented in the colon to give short chain
fatty acids, leading to a large range of possible health benefits [6]. One of these benefits is its
prebiotic effect [7,8]. It has been claimed that four week supplementation with Gum

The Traditional Family And The Socialization Of The Modern...
Introduction.
The family is one of the oldest but most important institution known to man and the society in
which he/ she lives. According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2005) a family consists of two or more
people, one of whom is the householder, related by birth, marriage, or adoption and residing in the
same housing unit. A household consists of all people who occupy a housing unit regardless of
relationship. A household may consist of a person living alone or multiple unrelated individuals or
families living together. Therefore, during the course of time, the family structure has evolved, in
some cases, changed which resulted in different family structures forming. Two of the most
important are the traditional family structure and the modern family structure. As a result, various
theorists have his/ her own views of these two family structures. With the views expressed by those
theorists, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structural functionalists view the traditional family as an important institution which is the
basic building block of society that carry out the crucial functions of socialising the young and
meeting the emotional needs of its members. Additionally, some theorists argue that traditional
family is universal. To this extend, they see the family as performing several essential functions.
These include:
a)Stable satisfaction of the sex drive within monogomous relationships
b)The biological reproduction of the next generation without which society cannot continue.
c)Socialisation of the young teaching basic norms and values
d)Meeting its members economic needs producing food and shelter for example
Some hold the view that the traditional family is the only institution that can perform two core
functions in society: Primary Socialisation and the Stabilisation of Adult Personalities.
1. Primary Socialisation: the nuclear family is responsible for teaching children the norms and
values of society known as Primary

Diageo Marketing Strategy
Diageo s Marketing Strategy
Diageo is the world s leading premium drinks company. It has more category leading brands than
any other drinks company and market leadership in many of the major growth markets around the
world. Diageo s unique STP strategy has allowed it develop into a globally renowned brand with an
operating profit of over ВЈ2 billion in 2005. With its headquarters in London, Diageo has
experienced rapid expansion with over 80 offices worldwide employing around 20,000 workers.
The firm s recent success can be largely attributed to its efficient market segmentation and product
diversification that have allowed it to meet the specific demands of its global consumer base.

Other Political factors involve the tight regulations many countries place on mergers and
acquisitions and monopolistic behaviour. In the last 10 years the alcohol industry has seen an
unprecedented consolidation as the largest firms try to identify the most profitable segments of the
fastest growing and most profitable new markets. This often leads to infringements with national
regulations about competition and market monopoly, resulting in the sale having to be approved by
a government agency.
When looking at the economic aspects affecting the industry and Diageo the main concern is the
market saturation reached in many of the developed economies worldwide. With demand remaining
constant and competition increasing it is important for firms to identify new markets to invest in,
with particular focus placed on Emerging markets. Another important development is the growth
patterns in the alcoholic beverage market with the demand for beer increasing by 2.7% with
particularly strong growth in the premium brands market. In contrast there has been a decline in
demand for wine and spirits which are the industries that Diageo has a large market share. There
has also been a recent reduction in operating profit of Diageo in Europe, which can largely be
explained by the higher taxes imposed by governments who are striving to reduce alcohol
consumption.

industry, have been heated rivals since Marvel s Stan Leecreated the Fantastic Four in 1961.
Constant arguments arise over who is the better company: Marvel or DC? Yet, after careful

Both companies share the idea of a linear timeline that all their movies are featured on, a
cinematic universe if you will. Both have seen relative success with DC accumulating three billion
dollars from all of their movies, and Marvel accumulating eight billion dollars (Box Office Mojo).
However, the difference lies in the quality of the movie. DC s extremely successful Christopher
Nolan Batman trilogy was a smash hit, grossing over one billion dollars in the box office (Box
Office Mojo). Since then, DC has produced Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman, Suicide Squad,
and Green Lantern, all critically underwhelming. On the other hand, since the release of Iron Man
in 2008, Marvel Studios has been exponentially increasing in popularity and box office success.
The total revenue of eight billion dollars almost triples that of DC s total revenue. Furthermore,
Marvel s growth is not diminishing; with the release of Doctor Strange, Spider Man: Homecoming,
and Guardians of the Galaxy Two, Marvel should see a substantial increase in revenue and world
wide popularity in the coming

Essay on the Rental Heart
Most people have tried it before, and those that haven t are either too young to have tried it, or
simply just heartless. It s terrible and beautiful all at the same time, which is probably why it s
such a great topic for stories. However, getting your heart broken at some point in your life is
inevitable. For some, it happens more than once. This is the case for our main character in the short
storyThe Rental Heart , by Kirsty Logan.
To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head
though, I got the image of a girl. The story is about this girl, who gets her heart broken over and
over again, by boys as well as girls (she is bisexual). It s not really a problem for her, because she ...

Maybe it s simply a whole different world! She also uses many symbols, especially to express
how love feels to the main character. The heart was dusty and tarnished and utterly empty . This
shows the reader just how heart broken she was. Her heart hasn t felt real love in a long time, so
it is dusty. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her
with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn
t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally,
unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she
was actually away on an island.
What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact
that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it
again, it s nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real
life you can t just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about
it . Healing a broken heart takes time in the real, non fictional world. Just changing it like it s
nothing, that s the real science fiction in the story.
All in all, we should be glad that we don t have these kinds of rental services available. It would be
way too boring. What makes life exciting is that it s fragile; you never know

Short Story Two Fishermen
Capital Punishment within the short story Two Fishermen
1) What is Capital Punishment and what was its history in Canada? Capital Punishment, also called
the death penalty, is the execution of an offender sentenced to death as a punishment for a crime. In
1865, crimes of murder, treason, and rape carried the death penalty in upper and lower Canada (1,
Susan Munroe) . Furthermore, in 1961, murder was classified into Capital and Non Capital
offenses. Capital murder offenses in Canada were intended murder and murder of a police officer,
guard or warden in the course of duty and had a mandatory sentence of hanging ( 1, Susan Munroe).

In the short story Two Fishermen by Morley Callaghan, Thomas Delaney is man being sentenced to
death by hanging for murdering Matthew Rhinehart who molest his wife. If this story s setting is
based in Canada, it would most likely happen between the 1930 and 1960 s as crimes for murder
carries out with the death penalty during this time period. Throughout history, capital punishment is
an extremely debatable subject. In the 19th century, hanging is a common punishment that is used
for serious offenses such as treason or murder. There is usually sympathy for the person being
hanged but the hangman is often jeered by the crowd. To showcase the setting, the story indicates
the utilization of automobiles for example, at the end of the story the sheriff pulls [Smitty] into
the automobile (8). Also, the description of Smitty s attire by dressing in a long black cut away
coat with grey striped trousers and a gate ajar collar (7) shows the fashionable style during that
time. To add on, the author does not mention the use of technology, however, Callaghan indirectly
describes the road conditions that consist of white gravel instead of pavement. An example of this
is when the fisherman throws fish at Smitty, resulting for the fish to land in thick dust in front of
him, sending up a little cloud (8). Another example of this is at the end of the story when Smitty
gets into the automobile and the car drives forward in a cloud of dust (8). This demonstrates the
white gravel consistency of the roads at that period of

  • 2. A Note On Disney s Disney Madeline Rihner Mr. Helmsing November 10, 2014 C Block The first stock I decided to invest in was Disney. I chose this stock because I have been a Disney fan my whole life. I think Disney will be a worthwhile stock to follow because it encompasses a broad spectrum of smaller businesses such as entertainment and merchandise. Disney demonstrates a consistent level of high quality and high standards in all it does. Disney is also an innovative company. It always looks to improve and introduce new ideas in all its businesses, whether it is a new ride in the parks or a new type of animation in its movies. With the company s current success with its animated movie Frozen and the completion of New Fantasyland in Disneyworld, the company has been seeing an increase in sales. This in turn, will lead to higher stock values in the company. Disney is a brand that is familiar to the majority of Americans and should be a solid company to invest in. The Walt DisneyCompany was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Studios. Founded by Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney, the company first began their animation work on a series known as Alice Comedies. These shorts combined both animations with live action video. After the production of the first short, the company had to file for bankruptcy. The cartoon, however, was very successful, allowing the brothers to reopen where they continued the production of Alice Comedies. In 1927, Walt Disney decided to create a new character to ... • 3. Research Paper On Little Rock Nine Angie German Ms. DeGreef English IV 10 March 2017 Little Rock Nine! The end or the beginning? The Little Rock Nine had a huge impact on the world, but at the time, they just thought that they were nine students going through unfair treatment, harassment, threats, protesting, and assaults. Through it all, they were determined to make this work whether they were to be accepted or not. They stirred up a chapter of history that would become an important part of the Civil Rights Movement (Natasha). Most people would say that once you go through certain things, they change you and some would say for the better and some would say for the worst. It all depends on how you look at it and if you want to learn from it or let it haunt you for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They said that Daisy was the poster child for black resistance (Daisy Bates and the Little Rock Nine ). After all that she had been through as a kid, she was a strong young woman. Her mother was murdered while resisting rape by three white men. She loved her adoptive parents though (Taylor 39). Daisy Bates was the one of the main people who helped the kids get into Central High and helped make their transition as smooth as possible. She was their voice when they felt like no one would listen to them. she was the one who stood her ground to all the mean white people. she was the one who understood what these kids were going through, not that other people didn t but she was the one that was walking in their shoes right along with them. When anything that would have made the kids back out, she was the one of the first people to know and she would tell the kids but made sure that they could do this and that they were strong for doing so. She made the kids feel good about the things they were doing for the Civil Rights Movement. She was always looking out for their best interests and she kept it at heart. When she felt something, she went with it and no one ever questioned her. Daisy was always trying to keep the kids safe so when a young reporter came to her and said sending those kids alone would be murder (Taylor 44). • 4. Java Programming Introduction Java was developed by a team led by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems. Originally called Oak, it was designed in 1991 for use in embedded consumer electronic appliances. In 1995, renamed Java, it was redesigned for developing Internet applications. Java is a full featured, general purpose programming language that is capable of developing robust mission critical applications. Today, it is used not only for Web programming, but also for developing standalone applications across platforms on servers, desktops, and mobile devices. It was used to develop the code to communicate with and control the robotic rover that rolled on Mars. Many companies that once considered Java to be more hype than substance are now using it to create ... They are used for documenting classes, data, and methods. They can be extracted into an HTML file using JDK s javadoc command. 1.10.2. Reserved Words Reserved words, or keywords, are words that have a specific meaning to the compiler and cannot be used for other purposes in the program. For example, when the compiler sees the word class, it understands that the word after class is the name for the class. Other reserved words in Listing 1.1 are public, static, and void. Their use will be introduced later in the book. Tip Because Java is case sensitive, public is a reserved word, but Public is not. Nonetheless, for clarity and readability, it would be best to avoid using reserved words in other forms. 1.10.3. Modifiers Java uses certain reserved words called modifiers that specify the properties of the data, methods, and classes and how they can be used. Examples of modifiers are public and static. Other modifiers are private, final, abstract, and protected. A public datum, method, or class can be accessed by other classes. A private datum or method cannot be accessed by other classes. 1.10.4. Statements A statement represents an action or a sequence of actions. The statement System.out.println( Welcome to Java! ); in the program in Listing 1.1 is a statement to ... • 6. The Crimean War And Its Lack Of Modernization The Crimean War was the war between Great Britain, French, and along with some other countries against Russia. While Russia led by Nicholas I, entered to the Crimean War to defend Orthodox Christian within the autocrat empire; French entered this war because they promoted the Catholics Christian; Great Britain wanted to maintain the autocrat empire and maintain power (Aksakov and Danielevsky, 378 389). It was an absolute humiliating when Russiadefeated the war. The Russian military was outplayed because the British had much more sophisticated weapons, technology, and supply line (Riasanovsky and Steinberg, 366). Many liberal, conservative, and Russian people believed that the defeat of Russia in the Crimean Warwas evidence of Russia s economy and material backwardness and fallen behind many European nations (lecture, 10/19). This led to the forces of modernization . Defeat in the Crimean War made Russia s lack of modernization clear. The first step toward modernization was the emancipation of serfdom. Soon after the war end Nicholas I came to end of his life. Alexander II was on the throne and the Great Reform period of Russia began. He first issued the emancipation manifesto in 1861. Alexander II took steps to improve the condition of the peasantry. But these steps were only partly successful, depending as they did on the goodwill and voluntary action of landlords (Cracraft, 340). • 7. The Characters Of Education In Atticus Finch And Bob Ewell During the Great Depression in the 1930 s over twelve million people were unemployed causing people to become poor and homeless. The Great Depression affected those who had education and worsened the living conditions for those who were less educated. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee compares two completely different people, Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell to display how education affected different social castes in society. In the 1930 s the Great Depressioncame along as a tragic era making education forgotten as America faced other issues. At this time, Atticus, a white man and a father of two kids strives to portray an example of how important education is in a time of struggle. On the other hand the character Bob Ewell is, a white man, is poor and extremely ignorant to the value education and believes it has no effect on society. Atticus and Bob are men of different beliefs and values. [Through the characterization of Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell the readers can believe compassion is reached through education, which a man with compassion and education for their community can lead to humanity.] Atticus is a well educated man as he demonstrates outstanding habits through his actions. After, Scout asks why Atticus is defending Tom Robinson he say, For a number of reasons, the main one is, if I didn t I couldn t hold up my head in town, I couldn t represent this county in the legislature, I couldn t even tell you or Jem not to do something again. Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada Essay Gun Ownership and Gun Control in Canada The Oscar won documentary Bowling for Columbine has aroused people s awareness of gun ownership and gun control issues. Should gun ownership be banned or should guns be controlled? Does gun ownership create a violent society? The answer is not measurable, however, from the firearm situation between America and Canada, the answer is more obvious. America probably has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. Despite having one of the highest rates of gun ownerships, Canada actually has the lowest crime rate in the world. Well, a uniform federal firearms control system seems far more important than the number of gun ownership. In order to reduce the availability of guns, strict regulations should be addressed. Any occupant who conditionally needs a gun should acquire a certificate from both the police and doctors. Personal and medical details of gun owner should be honestly provided. According to the gun control system established in Canada, Canadians who wish to purchase a gun must acquire a Firearm Acquisition Certificate from the police. In order to obtain a Firearms Acquisition Certificate, am applicant must provide identification and background information, including addresses for the past five years. Unlike some American states, applicants are not acquired to supply medical information to the police. Apart from applying for gun certificates, the restriction of uses of certain guns should be regulated so as to ensure no collateral effect. For example, the Canadian FAC system includes control of restricted weapons and prohibited weapons. Restricted weapons must be stored only in one s home or place of business depending on terms of the registration certificate. Prohibited weapons, such as shotguns, sawed off rifles and silencers are absolutely illegal in Canada. In Bowling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Eugene Sandow s Bodybuilding And The Bodybuilding Industry Eugene Sandow started bodybuilding in the late nineteenth century. He was known of his time to have a great physique, and it drew many admirers. Known as The Father of Bodybuilding , he began the bodybuilding industry by promoting competitions and selling exercise equipment. Today, the bodybuilding industry is as big as ever as more people are interested in achieving their ideal physique. The image of bodybuilders is still viewed negatively by the public. When people hear of bodybuilding, they most often think of big, steroid abusing tools that are obsessed with gaining muscle. They fail to observe the deeper reasoning behind bodybuilding. Fictional accounts of bodybuilders, endured by writers who did not experience the lifestyle, is a moral transgression. It is a moral transgression to write fictional accounts on bodybuilding because it is a form of art. It is an art in which the artists (bodybuilders) present their physique as the artwork. Bodybuilders spend hours at the gym to sculpt, and manipulate the size of their musculature by performing strenuous exercises and consistently eating nutritious foods. Bodybuilding shows are not all about muscle, but the overall beauty of the artwork. The World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF), a well known bodybuilding federation, states, Athletes are judged in two rounds: Symmetry encompasses overall balance and conditioning. She talks about how although music has always romanticized illicit drug use and alcohol abuse . . . , today s music touches on a more emotional level that connects with most kids of today (Eberstadt 186). In the article Eberstadt then says that, What distinguishes them most clearly is the fixation on having been abandoned personally by the adults supposedly in charge, with consequences ranging from bitter ness to rage bad, sick, and violent behavior , a trait the draws attention away from the simpler reason of why a teenager would like a certain type of music and focuses more on the emotional state of the person. Eberstadt talks about a painful truth, the emotional downward mobility , where she touches on how parents raise their kids nowadays (Eberstadt 186). It s a more emotional approach on why teenagers lash out. It makes you ask yourself if Eminem is right? Are the songs popular just because of the straight forward lyrics, or because they speak a truth that most people feel guilty about. Eberstadt finishes the article by saying, If this spectacle alone doesn t tell us something about the ongoing emotional costs of parent child separation on today s out size scale, it s hard to see what could and it emphasizes again that this is more than just the words, but a social dilemma that should be taking seriously because there is an ever ending popularity from the lyrics used by many ... • 13. Proper Healthy Lifestyles Proper healthy lifestyles start at the households and begin with parenting. Our leaders of Guam need to recognize that diabetes is a growing issue on the island. Diabetes leads to strokes and heart attacks, which are some of the common cause of death on this island. The main problem is that people on the island of Guam fail to understand the seriousness of diabetes. It is always fun and nice to see a supposedly overweight child because to the cultural norm it is acceptable in society. People fail to realize that we are placing a huge burden on innocent lives who somewhat don t have any control over their eating habits. We must start to treat the patients on Guam rather than the statistical numbers. The life expectancy is estimated around 76 years, but it used to be longer in the olden days. The lifestyle as well as the economy has made a major impact on the people of Guam s health. Parents are not doing their children a favor by practicing poor eating habits and partaking in smoking and drinking routines. This issue is definitely obvious and the dialysis treatment centers are continuing to grow. That is one treatment center to be proud of because it just states that the island of Guam has an underlying problem with health issues. If the community cannot participate and promote good health the island will not be the same in 10 years. Many of the differences found between the two movements are only comparing the outer layer and not what is going on below that layer. When you look at how similar they are at the core, you will start to see a scary trend in the way people treat minorities in our society. The disturbing truth is people fear differences. The two movements were started during different times. The Civil Rights Movement started in 1955 and continued till 1968 (Janken). The LGBTQ movement was officially founded in 1986 and is still going on now (LGBTQ). African Americans in the past and present are being discriminated against and oppressed because of their skin color (Patterson). The LGBTQ community is oppressed and discriminated against for their sexuality and gender (Singh and Durso). In the 1960s, the African Americans were legally segregated from the majority because it was easy to tell the difference between the oppressive group and the oppressed group (Jim). Looking at someone will not reveal what their sexuality is, so this makes it difficult for the oppressors to separate them from the majority group. Key differences between the operating system of Polyface and the industrial model of food production 1.Polyface model Integrated strategy: Polyface is a small scale, community oriented farming. It was envisioned to be an environmentally sustainable farm, effectively utilizing the resources inherent in the land, and mimicking the natural ecosystem. The activities of the farm animals complimented each other and contributed to the overall effectiveness and productivity of the farm s system. The waste produced was ultimately returned back to the land. For example Polyface utilized excreta and composted internal organs of the farm animals for use as natural fertilizer for the grass. It believed in nature s biodiversity system and maintained its animal ratio accordingly to suit that system. For example the hen to cow ratio was 16:1 which effectively helped process the cow manure. Bureaucrats implement government policy by putting laws and decisions made by elected individuals into action. Over time, many different people have defined the concept of disability in many different ways. This becomes a major issue when the definition of disabilityneeds to be defined by the government, because of the laws and decisions the government makes based off of it. Something like the concept of disability being defined in a certain way affects the policies that the bureaucracies implement, so it is important to look at the history of disability and the several models one can use to analyze it, as it decided the fate of several people across the United States. Through historical, medical, and bureaucratic contexts, it can be seen how far the disabilities movement has come within law, and where it is heading in the future. The beginning of disability being encoded into law started with the Civil War. This first started with the making of the Civil War draft, which was brought about when both the North and South needed to recruit men to fight in the war. The draft was made first by creating a standard of normality, and an able bodied soldier was the model for this standard. This later led to decisions that had to be made about who was able bodied and how it was defined. Once the standard was created, men were evaluated compared to that standard, and were drafted if they fit (Class notes 9/7). This impacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everything seemed so well planned before the project started. Each company division had a task force that provided input into the proposed installation along with potential problems. All the different divisions had been trained and briefed on exactly how their division would interface and use the forthcoming accounting software. All six contractors, which included one of the Big Five consulting companies, assisted in developing the work... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While concerned, Karin considered these problems typical of the kind she had encountered on other smaller software projects. Case FOUR MONTHS LATER The project seemed to be falling apart. What happened to the positive attitude fostered at the team building workshop? One contractor wrote a formal letter complaining that another contractor was sitting on a coding decision that was delaying their work. The letter went on: We cannot be held responsible or liable for delays caused by others. The project was already two months behind, so problems were becoming very real and serious. Karin finally decided to call a meeting of all parties to the project and partnering agreement. She began by asking for problems people were encountering while working on the project. Although participants were reluctant to be first for fear of being perceived as a complainer, it was not long before accusations and tempers flared out of control. It was always some group complaining about another group. Several participants complained that others were sitting on decisions that resulted in their work being held up. One consultant said, It is impossible to tell who s in charge of what. Another participant complained that although the group met separately on small problems, it never met as a total ... DNA often exists as a double stranded molecule made of four building blocks called nucleotides. RNA contains Uracil as DNA contains Thymine. DNA is most often used to store genetic information, while RNAserves as a host of functions. 2) Name and discuss at least three things does RNA do in the cell, based on what you learned in the video and the tutorials. They are unable to reproduce on their own and must infect living cells and hijack cellular machinery such as ribosomes to copy themselves. Each virus is like a little tank that can blast a hole in the outer cell wall and send its forces in. These intruders change the blueprints in the factory s headquarters so the factory starts producing more viral tanks. It doesn t stop until it builds so many tanks that the cell bursts right open. Most viruses are little more than genetic information DNA or RNA inside a protein shell. They bind to a cell and inject their genetic code inside 9) How does RNA interference help scientists study genes? Scientists can use the same basic mechanism of RNA interference to turn off one geneat a time and study the effect on the cell and the organism. For example, turning off one gene may drain all the pigment out of a purple flower. Another might prevent a plant from producing a toxic chemical, making it safe to eat. Scientists have not yet determined whether human cells naturally fight viruses with RNAi, but it is possible that one day we will be able to use RNAi to deactivate cancer causing genes and genetic disorders. 10) In a paragraph, reflect on what you thought of the NOVA RNA Lab. The Importance Of Public Service Announcements No one gets up in the morning and says I think that I will drive distracted so that I can kill myself or take the life of an innocent bystander today, but that is exactly what happens over nine times a day in the United States because of distracted driving. Nine lives are cut short. The United States Department of Transportation reports that cell phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each year that cause half million injuries. Individuals who drive while sending or reading text messages are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car crash than other drivers. There are many media campaigns that have used Public Service Announcements with no effect on reducing the number of distracted driving incidents because teens are overwhelmingly compelled to constantly monitor and respond to their cell phones because they do not believe that anything bad will ever happen them. So, wasting more dollars on Public Service Announcements will not reduce the number of distracted driving incidents. Hopefully, technological advances can countermand the teen brain. Nevertheless, some say that Public Service Announcements that make an emotional appeal utilizing convincingly credible logical information do help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents by making teens aware of the terrible consequences that can occur from distracted driving. • 37. White And Brown Dwarfs Essay Astronomy Project Questioning: What is a neutron star and how have scientists been able to research them? What are the differences between white and brown dwarfs and why do we study them? Are there multiple ways for a star to form or is there only one? When the core of a massive star experiences a huge gravitational collapse, the end of its life only starts another s. During this process, protons and electrons are packed together so tightly, that they leave behind a neutron star. These stars and many others form in a variety of ways. In order for the neutron star to form, neutron degeneracy must halt the collapse. Although this is true for many stellar masses, those less than about 1.44 solar masses form white dwarfs when the collapse is ceased by electron degeneracy. Despite the name, brown dwarfs are not very similar to white dwarfs. Each form very differently, for a brown dwarf is considered a failed star to many scientists. Group A Studies on China Economy Victor Alberto Han Zou 2014059013 The Transition and Opening up and Growth of the Service Sector of China Abstract The objective of this paper is to show the transition of China from an economy dominated by the manufacturing to a more stable economy dominated by services. In recent years, many people were thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to 7%. Well, that is an intentional cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from industrial to service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial sector was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China is changing this to a more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service sector and the 12th Five Year Plan of China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish this task. In 2013, for the first time of the history the service sector overpass the industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP. Key words: Transition, Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Sector, Tertiary Industry, and Sustainable Economy. I.Introduction Since 1978 when Deng Xiaoping took away the centrally planned economy and introduced the capitalistic market reform, China has witnessed tremendous transitions and growth. This is especially the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for decades to make sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know better than the critics, but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my observations and analysis, Melville s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the character of Bartleby, but also the dead letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall Street itself works well to develop a sense of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story as well as the narrator and consequently the reader. In other words, the lawyer considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from their labor. (Wilson) Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office, greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way. As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself as a type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he refuses to do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not serve the function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the letters are undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed.
