A Few Kind Words I believe in the importance of saying something kind to everyone. I personally
try to give someone positive feedback, even when they do something wrong or just tell them
that I still believe in them when they fail. I do not see this consistently enough in today s society.

someone s self esteem or influence someone s outlook on his or her life. I will start with one of
my personal experiences when I was in Iraq for my first deployment with the Army. It was
another typical end of a twelve hour mission. The sky still had that orange glow that came from

The art of the ancient Egyptians is known for how consistent it remained for thousands of years.
The Amarna period is significant because it was a brief shift from that consistency under the
Pharaoh Amenhotep IV, (who later changed his named to Akhenaten
) his Queen, Nefertiti and later,
Tutankhamen. They began worshipping the sun god Aten, which is evident in the art that was
commissioned. Instead of using strict registers, walls were cluttered with images. (Giuliano). An

The house altar is a piece that was carved into limestone during the Amarna period of the 18th

The Machine Stops is a short, science fiction story written by E.M. Forester. Set in a post
apocolypic dystopian society, the two main characters, Vashti and Kuno, as well as everyone else,
live underground with the help of the Machine. The Machine provides every single person and
their needs, including the air they breath, because the surface of the Earth can no longer sustain
mankind. Not only does the Machine give every necessity to its people, it also provides the Book,
which contains rules to help the people survive. This often leads the people to worship the
Machine as a type of deity. In the book The Machine Stops, which was written by E.M. Forester,
the main characters Vashti and Kuno have multiple differences with few similarites. Vashti and
Kuno are completely different in apperance. When being introduced to Vashti, the book
describes her as a swaddled lump of flesh a woman, about five feet high,with a face as white as a
fungus. (Forester 1). This is a very strong and disturbing representation of a women. This implies
that Vashti doesn t move much due to inactiveness, and also implies that she doesn t go outside
much, more or less because of the fact that she lives underground. On the other hand, Kuno has a
very athletic build. When being introduced to Kuno, we learn that he was sent away as a baby

White Fang by Jack London is a breathtaking example of classical composition. This piece of
fictionalized American literature has shown, in the simplest way possible, the struggles of a
wild made tame wolf as he is thrown in and out of captivity. Mr. London s novel has shown, in
vivid detail, how a good natured cub like White Fang turned into a raging beast. He hated his own
species and humans because of the cruel treatment he had received, but by the end White Fang was
able to learn what trust and loyalty truly meant. This tale has become an important part of literary
history because of it s tantalizing plot that keeps you riveted. You ll be rooting for White Fang
from the very beginning of the book.
In White Fang, Jack London uses several different settings throughout the story. A dark, snowy,
spruce forest starts out the novel, while the conclusion leaves you in the warm and welcoming

the Mackenzie Indian settlement where he first meets man. He stays with them for a quarter of
his life, all the while going through the hardships of being a lone wolf amongst the domesticated
