2. For our music video we have used
various shots that have colour edited
over the top to make the video more
neon and also appeal to our target
audience. We have used the colour
scheme of a rainbow within our video
to stand out amongst other videos
whilst keeping the video interesting
and bright in this case. The theme of
colour was originally inspired from the
way we wanted to represent our artist
as colourful and bright and we also
wanted to use this theme to convey
the message of the song. Another
video that uses a similar effect is Cedric
Gervais ‘Summertime Sadness’ remix
and in this they use colour and other
editing tools to highlight the mixed
emotions of the character within the
music video. It is effective as it would
keep the audience constantly
fascinated by the colour flashing on the
screen.

3. To do this in Adobe Premier Pro we
had to first gain our footage. Once
we had inserted the correct footage,
we went to the tab on the lower left
hand side of the page and clicked on
Video Effects (1). Once the drop
down menu drops down, you need
to navigate your way down to Colour
Correction (2). In this menu we can
see a range of various tools such as
contrast, colour correction, colour
balance etc. The one we need for the
desired effect is Tint (3) once you
have found tint, using the mouse
drag it onto the desired footage you
wish to edit.

4. Once you have dragged the desired
effect on to the correct footage (1),
the top left hand corner will show
details of the footage and offer you
adjustments (2). The frozen image of
the footage should now be black and
white as the tint automatically sets it
to black and white. Click next on
either the white or black boxes and
pick a colour to change the footage
too. A box that offers the colour
wheel will appear (3) and will allow
you to pick a colour that you wish to
change it to.

5. Once you have picked the colour that
you want, the colour of the shot will
automatically change. By picking a
second colour you can contrast the
two and make some amazing shots
by using bright against dark colours.
Using these shots can hold symbolic
meanings within videos and we
wanted to use colours in our video to
convey the message of having fun
with friends is bright and colourful
which can be seen reflected in the
shots we have created.
