A prevailing feeling when someone dies is the feeling of having unfinished business. This idea was
clearly incorporated into Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy. Through Plath s life she despised her father.

A Generation Lost In the Workplace
The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment today,
and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters the
workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the shift of
power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they have
never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that generation is
Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and handing the reins to
Millennials. Failing to utilize Generation X is a mistake, and managers can maximize employees my
utilizing this overlooked sector of the workforce.
Generations
The oldest generation in the workforce is the Greatest Generation or also known as Traditionalist
(born prior to 1946) ( Mixing and Managing Four Generations of Employees FDU ). They came of
age during the great depression, the start of the cold war to be seen and not heard (MU Extension).
Believing in a work ethic of loyalty, tenure, and quietly working hard gets rewarded. While some are

Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian
relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been
calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is
where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between
the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the
Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering
them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians,

significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule
around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops
such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians
were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land. John Smith s leadership swooped in

The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along
with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese
Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share
some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of
the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel
displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the
novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as
a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly
moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam
after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their
palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p.
574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get
as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in
the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how
aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston
doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as
possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next,
we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a
dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of
dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn
t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering
Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew
