Coronal Mass Ejection Essay
Coronal Mass Ejection also known as CME is usually created around the sun s surface by magnetic
reconnection. CME is a large bubble of gas and magnetic field lines that are emerged from the sun.
There isn t a full proven understanding of how CME s occur but Astronomers have come to a theory
that because the sun is a fluid, the turbulence gets kinks that get shot out into space in any direction as
a superheated gas. The gas that is ejected from the sun is made of protons and electrons carried
through solar winds. This gas is known as plasma and can accelerate over 1 million miles per hour and
reach Earth that is 93 million miles away in less than 4 days. When the sun is most active Coronal
Mass Ejections can happen multiple times per day however, it usually occurs once every 5 days. Its
definition is the effect on earth if a massive event in the result of struggling to survive. This refers to a
specific form of continuing education that helps those in the medical field, maintain competence and

Similarly, Eytukan the clan leader of the Na vi also shared the same sentiment who regarded Jake

Role Of The Katipunan
The Katipunan made the Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Colonizers possible. It is
considered as the representative of the what so called the people from below because they want to
fight for the equality and restoration of the prosperous life of the Filipino civilization. Its full Tagalog
name is Kataastaasan Kagalang galang na Katipunan nang mga Anak ng Bayan. Katipunan was forged
by blood, with all its members enacting the traditional blood compact and signing their names with
their own blood. This is a sign of their accountability in their motherland. The foremost goal of the
Katipunan was political, the separation of the Philippines from Spain. Its members also recognized
and performed a civic duty which was mutual assistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the organizational structure of the Katipunan was constantly in flux, it is generally believed
that they formed small branches, governed by the sangguniang balangay, and these small branches
would form larger provincial councils, governed by the sangguniang bayan. The branches of the
government showed that officials have their own roles in governing the society. Accountability
emerges in these roles. All these would be overseen by the Supreme Council of the Katipunan
(Kataastasang Sanggunian), which was composed of a president (pangulo), secretary (kalihim), fiscal
(tagausig), treasurer (tagaingat yaman), and six councilors (kasanguni). Elected officials should done
their part in their position and the members of the katipunan is accountable for it because they are the

their own ideology as a member of katipunan. The legislative body of the Katipunan was known as the
Katipunan Assembly, and it was composed of the members of the Supreme Council, along with the
presidents of the popular and provincial councils. Judicial power rested in the sangguniang hukuman,
which were provincial courts that decided on internal matters; however, judgement on grave matters

Yank as a Modern Day Oedipus in O Neill s Play, The Hairy Ape
The representation of tragedy today has adapted itself to more humanistic, base and symbolic
concerns. Often, they are commentaries on society just as much as they are on the nature of man.
Although O Neill insists that his play The Hairy Ape is not a tragedy, but rather a dark comedy, the
play follows the definition of a tragedy. The basic points that make up a tragedy still remain the same,
even if they have to be slightly modified to be relevant to today s audience. Despite this, The Hairy
Ape bears a striking resemblance to the quintessential Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex.
The only direct challenge to the Aristotelian definition of tragedy is the portrayal of the ... Show more

YANK : ...I wished it d banged her! I wished it d knocked her block off.

YANK : I don t give a damn what! I d be square wit her, wouldn t I? Tink I wanter let her put somep n
over on me? Tink I m gonna let her git away wit that stuff?
This is one of the most telling sections of the play. Long is the voice of reason. He recognizes the
concept of law and weighs decisions inside the context of such. Long sees his life as more important
than Mildred and her actions are. Yank however, does not merely want revenge on Mildred. For Yank,
the only important thing is his sense of self respect. He isn t going to let her put somep n over me.
Ironically, Long s declaration that Yank would be anged or lectrocuted is only half true. Yank does
indeed die at the end of his search to reclaim his dignity and identity, but in accordance with his final
realization that he is merely a brute, animalistic being, he is killed by and as such.
Oedipus may literally be of noble stature, but Yank is noble in a psychological sense. Yank sees
himself in a lofty and admirable position this is his sense of self. This self pride is Yank s equivalent of
Oedipus noble status. There are few nobles in modern day, and in response, modern tragedies have
reverted back to the core theme of a tragedy the transition of man into a higher level of

Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it doesn t
have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made
a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and
Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a
younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann
attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s
film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach
gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the
city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and
old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel
more modernized. Changing the setting of the film to be more modern appeals a younger crowd
because it makes the film less tedious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play, the Montagues wear hawaiian shirts, and the Capulets wear suits. At the Capulet s party,
Romeo dresses up as a knight and Juliet dresses up as an angel. This was clever of Luhrmann because
it relates to the phrase, Carried away by a man in knight in shining armour. Another clever decision he
makes was when he has Tybalt dress as a devilish looking man. This is coincidentally showing that he
is Romeo s devil and is always trying to ruin Romeo s life. These costumes make it easier to follow
and understand the story, tell characters apart, and make the Shakespeare story less formal. This
contributes to the interest of the younger eye because a more modern looking play is more

What Is My Favourite Memory Essay
Whenever you come to visit me in this hospital whilst i lie in this isolated, vegetative state memories
of our times together come rushing back to me.
These memories that I reminisce about are now my life, the only thing I can really, truly connect to.
I recall my favourite days in winter when the light of the day had been replaced by the unrelenting
blackness of the night, and we would sit in the little café. Sitting there with mugs of coffee cupped
between our stone cold hands, the warmth of the fire against our backs slowly warming us up. The
sweet smell of the cinnamon buns that would diffuse around us which made it difficult to resist the
temptation of eating anymore, despite the guilt we should have probably felt about the huge amount
we had already consumed.
The Café that once was filled with our bursts of loud uncivilised laughter from which people could
have probably heard from outside in the pouring rain, was now from what I can imagine just a lifeless
café. There was nothing fancy about this café, no fancy furniture, no white etching upon the glass, the
feeling of just being there together and feeling as if we were away from the loud intimidating noises of
London s streets was what made this café so great.
I recall meeting in the little cafe that was not far from where we both lived every day after our long
days at work.
Whatever the circumstance both of us would be there, so we could reminisce for hours and hours
about our days of chaoticness and madness.
This was until ten years ago, the day when I didn t turn up to the café, the day my life ended
physically and yours mentally.
Now I lie here in this hospital bed, my thoughts disattached from what was my body.
I am locked inside this body which was once mine but now it is a stranger to me and I have no control
over what happens to it and when.
At first all I could feel was frustration. Frustration because I couldn t respond to you when you would
talk to me, your hand in what used to be my hand, your fingers entwined in fingers that are now
unknown to me for i now have no feeling in this body you call mine.
There s no word for how I feel. I am now frozen, unable to do anything but listen to the world go by,
trying to live everyones

Analysis Of Suffer The Little Children
During the documentaries: Suffer the Little Children, and Educating Peter, many things were brought
to attention about the treatment of Special needs individuals in the past and the more recent treatment
in the school systems of the near present. Starting with Suffer the Little Children, it is amazing that
such conditions were present in the United States as the mid to late 1900s, the treatment depicted
would be thought by most people, to be that of the middle ages. Individuals were bound, beaten and
subject to torture at the hands of a medical professional; forced to lie restrained in their own
excrement, things thought to be fiction that would fill horror stories. However, on opposite end of the
spectrum, we have the story of Peter, a child in the special needs class of his school. Peter was at first
not accepted, but as time moved on, educators learned to handle his behavioral issues in a better way,
and together they were able to have a happy ending; now peter enjoys school and is much better off.
These documentaries bring forth things that may not have been known by the public, and create an
awareness that some individuals have special needs and they have every right to the help they deserve.
Throughout the documentary Suffer the Little Children, there were constant examples of outright
cruelty toward the individuals of residing within the Pennhurst, and with its overcrowding there is no
telling how many individuals went without out their required needs. The main

The First Amendment Of The United States Constitution
There are many elements of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution to address. The
area of the Freedom of Speech applies to every aspect of our daily lives. An examination of this area
shows us why there are protected and unprotected areas of speech: speeches and actions that have
been debated throughout our nation s history and why they are important and have such an impact on
our individual lives and social activities today.
The adoption of the First Amendment drafted by James Madison, which was ratified in 1791,

life that is free from disasters. This word Utopia is derived from Greek roots by Sir Thomas More
which means a good place (More 37). Merriam Webster defined Utopia as an imaginary place, all life
aspects are perfect, as the world suffers from nothing (Webster 19). while Dystopia is defined as an

Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates
According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same
punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if
the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards
rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children
off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working
conditions many of these places were closed down.
Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus
of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had
increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence.
Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a
fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on
juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed
violent crimes.
The increase in juvenile crimes led lawmakers away from implementing laws the focused on
rehabilitation and back to laws that focused on punishment. States began to develop statutes allowed
juveniles to be tried in the same court system and receive the same sentences as adults. These statutes
brought important reforms to the juvenile

China has had twelve different constitutions since 1911. The most recent constitution came to be in
1982, and in theory it gives a serious amount of power to the National People s Congress (NPC). The
NPC is a group that is elected by the provincial people s assemblies who are in turn elected by
lowering ranking officials. The constitution states that the NPC is the highest Organ of state power .
The constitution also gives the NPC the power to amend the constitution; supervise its enforcement;
enact and amend laws; ratify and abrogate treaties; approve the state budget and plans for national
economic and social development; elect and impeach top officials of the state and judiciary; and
supervise the work of the State Council, the State Central Military Commission, the Supreme People s
Court, and the Supreme People s Procuratorate . However, in reality the NPC serves mostly as a
rubber stamp for Party decisions. One example of this is the NPC s right to elect party officials such as
the President and Vice President. Technically the NPC has these rights, it is the CPC that actually
appoints these positions and the NPC just simply agrees with the Party s decisions. A driving reason
that the NPC has so much theoretical power, yet does not have any power in reality is that many NPC
deputies are members of the CPC or are state officials or civil servants. China rejects the principle of
separation of power, and this allows for NPC deputies to hold positions in these other branches of
government. The NPC is designed to oversee the other branches of government that they are usually
in, therefore, many members of the NPC are overseeing themselves. According to a leading Chinese
media organization, 85% of the three thousand NPC members hold positions in other branches of the
government. That number clearly shows why the NPC does not use any of their power, because they
are overseeing

Euthanasia Should Not Be Legal
What is euthanasia? Euthanasia is defined as the deliberate act of killing of a person who is suffering
from a terminal disease, which therefore ends their pain and suffering. This practice is often known as
a mercy killing. What makes voluntary euthanasia different from euthanasia? Voluntary euthanasia can
be described as a mercy killing made at the request of the patient to end their life in a manner that
minimizes further pain and discomfort.
While the practice remains controversial universally, it begs the question, should a terminally ill

But, the fact remains that euthanasia is still considered murder in most regions. Therefore, in this
context, it seems that the utilitarian intent is overshadowed by the dark reality of death and criminal
charges. There are limits to quantifying happiness or suffering to measure the quality of one s life. If
one ends their life, then there is no practical relevance because the dead do not feel happiness or
suffering (Singer, 2003, p. 529). Jojo Moyes wrote the book Me Before You that was later turned into

Masculinity In In Bad Neighbours
Media, especially Hollywood Film, has been one of the foremost vehicles for the perpetuation of
masculine hegemony, not only in the West, but the world over. Much of our behavioural cues are taken
from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central in
attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree these
desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via the
screen. The concept of what is masculine is not cut and dried, but Hollywood has had a way of

Aristotle s Virtue Ethics And Ethics
Engineers are many times assessed only by their technical knowledge. However, virtues are a
fundamental to engineering. Virtues create a purpose for an engineer to design and invent as well as
push them to excel in their field. Aristotle s virtue ethics gives us a framework of how we can define
and classify these virtues. In this paper I will explain some key concept of Aristotle s virtue ethics, as
well as share the virtues I have learned as a student of engineering and how they will impact my future
career.
Aristotle s virtue ethics attempt to answer the question of how to live a good life. Three key concepts
of Aristotle s virtue ethics are Eudaimonia, arĂȘte, and telos. Eudaimonia is described as happiness or
flourishing. Aristotle believed that humans have the unique ability to govern their action with reason.
The ideal practice of reason is exemplified through one s work. People are able to experience the good
life through excelling in fulfilling work. The idea of excelling is described by Aristotle s concept of
arĂȘte. ArĂȘte is best defined as virtue or being an outstanding example of its kind. It is the idea of
achieving excellence based on your end purpose or telos. Aristotle believed that virtues become
perfected as our potential of reaching our unique telos are actualized.
Along with these key concepts Aristotle presented two types of virtues. The virtues of thought consist
of traits such as wisdom and intelligence, and virtues of character. A young man going to a

Kindness Reflection
Your book has significantly changed my view of the kindness in our society. Kindness is like love, it
blooms in some and lingers in others.
I grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota a small town with a deep passion and obsession for their German
heritage with a population of around 13,000. Although with this town, it has a lack of diversity. The
percentage of Caucasians is around 95%, which leaves the remaining 5% to non Caucasians; I am
Chinese and part of that 5% of non Caucasians. Being different here is a challenge, we have the
friendly people that treat us decently, but then we have the people that would give us a look of disgust
or an intrusive stare. Similar to the looks that you got when people were judging you and your yellow
motorcycle. Growing up with that experience made me think that a large amount of the world was
unkind and rude, but after reading your book, I realized that there was kindness all around the world
and it was very active in some.
It was astonishing to see very kind people help you on your journey from gas and food to a night to
stay. Some were homeless, but they still gave you the greatness of kindness. Although it may have
been hard trying to get people willing to be kind enough to give you those needs. I d say it was
challenging, like the challenge I deal with everyday. The task of getting people to not be rude to my
family is a struggle. A simple smile to us is appreciated as much as you getting gas from someone. We

John Williams In The Wine Industry
In the wine industry, it is said that, In order to make a small fortune you need to start out with a large
one (C 392). When Mr. John Williams rolled into the Napa Valley, he had never heard of this before,
but began to understand when his loans accumulated to $22 million over the last 27 years. Before he
began his business known as Frog s Leap Winery in Rutherford, California, Mr. Williams returned to
Napa Valley straight after college breaking into the wine industry by becoming head winemaker at
Spring Mountain in 1980. Later that year, he married his wife, Julie Johnson. Another year later, John
Williams and Larry Turley form what is now known as Frog s Leap Winery in Napa, and in 1984 Frog

The Stereotypes Of Discrimination In The Workplace
Infringement of people s rights because of their race, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation is a
common phenomenon. This phenomenon contradicts the eternal aspirations of humanity to freedom,
equality, and justice. In labor relations, the most important rights that affected are the right to equal
access to work, equal pay for equal work, equal chances of promotion, protection from
unemployment, etc. Therefore, it is so important to talk about discrimination in labor relations, and not
only talk, but look for ways to protect those categories of citizens who are discriminated against.
Discrimination in the labor market is a widespread process that can be defined as the unequal
opportunities of workers with equal productivity, or the unequal treatment of employers, society, and
the state. Labor discrimination can be experienced both by individual workers and by their specific
groups. In our case, it is LGBT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aren t most workers expected to come to their workplaces, do their best and go home? This would be
fair if anyone gay, straight, bisexual, transgender or other rarely tended to reveal much about him or

workplace is so permeated by non work related conversations from Monday morning weekend catch
up talks to more serious sharing about life events, to light banter about celebrities and gossip that it is
easy to take this daily sharing for granted. The reported prevalence of conversations in the workplace
covering relationships and dating, social lives, politics and even religion and sex are nearly identical
between both LGBT and non LGBT workers. When asked, over 80% of non LGBT workers report
that conversations about social lives, relationships and dating come up weekly and often daily (Human

The Cause Of Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer and hormone treatment to address this disease is one approach some have taken. The
idea with this type of treatment is to decrease the production of testosterone that could stimulate the

These cancerous prostatic cells cause the disease to worsen. And with its reaction to the male
androgenic hormone testosterone the spread of these cancer cells will be hastened. Prostate cancer and

Relationship Between The Legislative Branch And The...
The conflicting power struggle and rival relationship between the legislative branch and the executive
branch is one that has always seemed anticipated. The relationship between a President and the
Legislative branch is not only essential but it is significant making it equally an extremely delicate
affair. One of the main questions that experts on the workings of congress have is whether or not the
legislative and executive branch are capable of effectively cooperating with one another to ultimately
promote and sustain the American agenda. George H.W. Bush s relationship with congress can be seen
as a dynamic one.

Bush presidency. For starters the Americans with Disability act not only provides protection for the
disabled in different sectors of their lives such as jobs, transportation and even public life but it
guaranteed equal opportunities for individual regardless of your race, sex, religion and more. Another
huge legislative accomplishment was the passage of the Clean Air Act making it one of the initial
influential laws on protecting our environment and specifically taking responsibility as a nation for
our waste and pollution. The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act which served as a sense of
accountability and ultimately aid to those exposed to ration caused by nuclear test was also passed
during his Presidency along with the Immigration Act that led to a 40 percent increase in legal
immigration. He even fought Congress to provide a bill that would help cops apprehend delinquents
and a law that would improve the highways in the United States. On top of those major amendments
Bush pushed for an increase in several budgets such as education, childcare and the advancement of
technology and research in the field. (Sinclair 2002) While the President is wholly allowed to suggest
various legislative ideas he must successfully and carefully address Congress and ensure he has at
least some back up for his future aspirations for the country. While he may have lost millions of
supporters for some of his contradictions, experts continue to shine light on his successful interactions
with prominent world figures of major countries and his efforts in foreign relations and policies.

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall By Katherine Anne Porter
Things do not always happen how anyone expect them to. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall written by
Katherine Anne Porter, is told in third person (limited omniscient). It is about a woman on her
deathbed. She realized the life she had lived as her family surrounded her. She talked about the serval
times she had been jilted in her life, first by her husband to be and finally by death. This story makes it
seem as though Granny Weatherall is telling the storying by using I and my . Using theses words
makes the story seem first person. For example, it says, So dear Lord, this is my death and I wasn t

What Would Happen If Foot Binding In China Had Not Been...
What would have happened if foot binding in China had not been outlawed in 1912? Since perhaps
around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common
practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers
and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular
for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese
culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. During this time when arranged
marriages were very common, the size of girls feet determined how desirable of a bride they would be.
For example, the most desirable foot size for a bride would be three inches, which was often known as
a golden lotus . A four inch silver lotus was respected. Feet that were five inches or longer were
known as iron feet ; marriages for girls with iron feet were much more unlikely. In other words, foot
binding became a symbol of status, even amongst the elite. But, this practice caused many health
concerns. Toe nails would often in grow, which causes infection and injury. Most of the time, blood
circulation to the toes would be cut off. As a result, injuries would be less likely to heal. Girls would
also spend many years with broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men of higher class would be chosen to marry women with golden lotus feet. I believe that foot
binding was the beginning to changing ideologies in the Chinese population. If foot binding had not
been banned, perhaps many Chinese customs would be still in effect today. Arranged marriages would
continue to be a lot more common, or even a law or something that all men and women had to obey to.
Women and men would not be allowed to marry the one they love. Young girls would continue to
endure the pain and injuries resulting from this cruel

Essay about Chemical Warfare
The images are haunting: soldiers in gas masks rapid firing through dusky vapours, people contorted
with a pain that comes from within. Chemical warfare has long been acknowledged as a devastating
tactical weapon, but the origin of this impression is now being debated. While it is a common held
belief that chemical warfare is a form of modern warfare and that the First World War is recognised
for introducing this type of combat, recent archaeological finds show this may prove otherwise.
According to accepted definitions of chemical warfare, newly discovered battle tactics used by
humanity s ancestors may not be so different from those of modern warfare. In the opposite way,
while advancements in science have aided in making chemical ... Show more content on

Historians consider the use of poison on arrowheads as the beginning of humanity s foray into this
type of tactical warfare. (WIFA. 2005) Toxic substances became the predominant form of chemical
warfare in the ancient world, and it was common for attacking armies to poison the water supply of
besieged cities or use other poison methods to silently dispose of their enemies. However, poison was
only the beginning of modern tactics used in the ancient world. By 429 B.C., toxic fumes made up of
sulphur were recorded as used in battle. (WIFA. 2005) Most interestingly though, is what has come to
light in recent archaeological investigations. Credited as the oldest ... evidence for chemical warfare
(Syed, 2009), the discovery of twenty Roman soldiers in the city of Dura Europos, circa AD 256, at
first puzzled archaeologists (Syed, 2009). While each soldier had apparently died in combat, they bore
no marks to suggest violence was the cause and it was not until the unearthing of bitumen and sulphur
crystals nearby that asphyxiation was considered (University of Leicester, 2009). When bitumen and
sulphur are burned together, they create dense clouds of choking gasses (University of Leicester,
2009), meaning that this discovery is the oldest found form of choking agents. More proof of chemical
warfare s early beginnings lies with the

How To Write A Letter From A Patriot
June 29, 1863 Dear Emily, Please forgive my messy handwriting, for all of the lights are packed away.
Tomorrow we are leaving Cashtown and marching into Gettysburg to find supplies. Colonel Smith is
still being tended to by the surgeons. I m secretly hoping for him not to get better. I m excited, to fight
for my country, for what s right, and for my people and to prove I m an honorable leader. This could,
hopefully, improve my rank in the army. I don t trust Smith, I feel as if he may be a double agent . He
used to ask me to deliver notes to strangers, or cover for him when he had to meet someone. One time,
I went into his tent and three of his slaves were sitting in there, reading through the battle plans and
eating our food. Some of the soldiers didn t get anything to eat that night and here these disgusting
blacks were eating our food! How dare they! So I punished them like any true Confederate man would
do. Then I went to talk to Smith about this, and he kept trying to change the subject. Major Green just
called. I have to speak to go speak to Smith. I ll write you again tomorrow dear. Yours, ... Show more

men to go back and investigate. His best men included me, but none of my superiors. How
embarrassing! We came back to let everyone know that there definitely would be a battle tomorrow. I
am ecstatic that he chose me to go over my superiors. I m assuming that there will be a battle
tomorrow. More good news is that Smith is to weak to fight tomorrow! I will have the opportunity to
lead my men to a victory at the battle of Gettysburg. I have to go consult with other generals about
tomorrow s plans. I ll write you again tomorrow

Daddy Sylvia Plath Analysis
A prevailing feeling when someone dies is the feeling of having unfinished business. This idea was
clearly incorporated into Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy. Through Plath s life she despised her father.
Seven years, if you want to know (74). Plath even compares him to a Nazi at one point in the poem, I
thought every German was you (Pg. 29). Even though the Nazi period was not during the time of
Daddy s publishing date to associate the amount of hatred she had for her father Plath compares him
to the worst person she could think of, a Nazi. Plath conveys the fact that when people die there is a
feeling of unfinished business that does not die along with them.
Throughout the poem Plath connects how she did not have enough time to fulfill ... Show more

To fill the feeling she used her husband who then she held the same hatred for. I killed one man, I ve
killed two (75). Plath does not literally mean killed when she metaphorically writes but only that they
are out of her life.
Another literary device that Plath uses is connecting the poem to herself. Usually it is a norm to keep
the author separate from the poem, but in Plath s case it is a different. She is writing about her own
father. Knowing this sends the meaning of the work to a different level of context and makes it
stronger because it is truly how she feels about the loss of her own father. Not only is she is explaining
that she does not like her father, she tells how the entire community despises her father, And the
villagers never liked you. They are dancing and stamping on you (77). A major hit on her father in this
line, writing that the herself and the villagers are dancing on his grave enforces the fact that she hated
her father. Plath writes that she goes back to dance on his grave because she is not at peace with the
hate she has for her father yet. The feelings left after him dying are still there.
Although Plath did write about her own father she still created characters with in the poem who
portrayed her husband and father. Building her husband up to be pictured as a The vampire who said
he was you and drank my blood for a year (72) and her father as a Marble heavy bag full of God (8)

A Generation Of The Workplace
A Generation Lost In the Workplace

A Generation Lost In the Workplace
The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment today,
and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters the
workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the shift of
power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they have
never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that generation is
Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and handing the reins to
Millennials. Failing to utilize Generation X is a mistake, and managers can maximize employees my
utilizing this overlooked sector of the workforce.
Generations
The oldest generation in the workforce is the Greatest Generation or also known as Traditionalist
(born prior to 1946) ( Mixing and Managing Four Generations of Employees FDU ). They came of
age during the great depression, the start of the cold war to be seen and not heard (MU Extension).
Believing in a work ethic of loyalty, tenure, and quietly working hard gets rewarded. While some are
still employed full, and it seems will never retire, many have handed off the reins to Baby Boomers.

Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Plymouth Colonies
Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian
relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been
calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is
where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between
the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the
Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering
them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians,
Powhatan, was intending to entice the English through generosity and their selfless attitudes. Sure
enough, this act of kindness was overlooked by the English colonists, and they immediately began
searching for wealth such as tobacco. As we have spoken about in class, Jamestown was a colony that
significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule
around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops
such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians
were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land. John Smith s leadership swooped in
and saved the colony of Jamestown. He conducted means of exploring the land and gathering

The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon
The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along
with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese
Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share
some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of
the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel
displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the
novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as
a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly
moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam
after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their
palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p.
574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get
as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in
the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how
aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston
doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as
possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next,
we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a
dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of
dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn
t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering
Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew
the answer for. Having Spade in the

What Are The Techniques Used In Monty Python And The Holy...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film
that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three
techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is
what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic
illusion.
Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic
illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder
that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the
story.
My first example is the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ARTHUR: There it is! The Bridge of Death! ROBIN: Oh, great. KNIGHT: Look! ARTHUR: There s
the old man from Scene 24! BEDEMIR: What is he doing here?
With this technique the filmmakers can belittle the famous story of King Arthur and his Knights of the
Round Table by making this story look trivial. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes
into the film.
Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from
different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century.
My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed
velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science.
GUARD #1: It s not a question of where he grips it! It s a simple question of weight ratios! A five
ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn t matter. Will you go and tell
your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here. GUARD #1: Listen, in order to maintain
air speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second,

CME is a large bubble of gas and magnetic field lines that are emerged from the sun. There isn t a full proven understanding of how CME s occur but Astronomers have come to a theory that because the sun is a fluid, the turbulence gets kinks that get shot out into space in any direction as a superheated gas. This gas is known as plasma and can accelerate over 1 million miles per hour and reach Earth that is 93 million miles away in less than 4 days. When the sun is most active Coronal Mass Ejections can happen multiple times per day however, it usually occurs once every 5 days. Yank as a Modern Day Oedipus in O Neill s Play, The Hairy Ape The representation of tragedy today has adapted itself to more humanistic, base and symbolic concerns. Often, they are commentaries on society just as much as they are on the nature of man. Although O Neill insists that his play The Hairy Ape is not a tragedy, but rather a dark comedy, the play follows the definition of a tragedy. The basic points that make up a tragedy still remain the same, even if they have to be slightly modified to be relevant to today s audience. Despite this, The Hairy Ape bears a striking resemblance to the quintessential Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex. • 8. Comparing Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet When people think about Shakespeare they may think it is serious and boring, but really it doesn t have to be. The stories can be exciting and dramatic to all ages. A director named Baz Luhrmann made a film that was a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. In Baz Luhrmann s film of Romeo and Juliet, he made decisions regarding actors, setting and costumes because he wanted to attract a younger crowd since Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers. One way Luhrmann attracted a young crowd was by making the time and place of the film more modernized. Luhrmann s film was located in Verona beach, NY, instead of filming in Verona, Italy. Filming in Verona beach gives the film more of a interesting feel for young adults to watch, because some of the play is in the city area and some is on the beach. In contrast to, Verona, Italy, where it was filmed in a boring and old town. In addition, the film is set in the 1900 s instead of the 1500 s which makes the film feel more modernized. Changing the setting of the film to be more modern appeals a younger crowd because it makes the film less tedious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the play, the Montagues wear hawaiian shirts, and the Capulets wear suits. At the Capulet s party, Romeo dresses up as a knight and Juliet dresses up as an angel. Another clever decision he makes was when he has Tybalt dress as a devilish looking man. This is coincidentally showing that he is Romeo s devil and is always trying to ruin Romeo s life. These costumes make it easier to follow and understand the story, tell characters apart, and make the Shakespeare story less formal. • 10. What Is My Favourite Memory Essay Whenever you come to visit me in this hospital whilst i lie in this isolated, vegetative state memories of our times together come rushing back to me. These memories that I reminisce about are now my life, the only thing I can really, truly connect to. I recall my favourite days in winter when the light of the day had been replaced by the unrelenting blackness of the night, and we would sit in the little cafĂ©. Sitting there with mugs of coffee cupped between our stone cold hands, the warmth of the fire against our backs slowly warming us up. The sweet smell of the cinnamon buns that would diffuse around us which made it difficult to resist the temptation of eating anymore, despite the guilt we should have probably felt about the huge amount we had already consumed. The CafĂ© that once was filled with our bursts of loud uncivilised laughter from which people could have probably heard from outside in the pouring rain, was now from what I can imagine just a lifeless cafĂ©. There was nothing fancy about this cafĂ©, no fancy furniture, no white etching upon the glass, the feeling of just being there together and feeling as if we were away from the loud intimidating noises of London s streets was what made this cafĂ© so great. I recall meeting in the little cafe that was not far from where we both lived every day after our long days at work. Whatever the circumstance both of us would be there, so we could reminisce for hours and hours about our days of chaoticness and madness. This was until ten years ago, the day when I didn t turn up to the cafĂ©, the day my life ended physically and yours mentally. Now I lie here in this hospital bed, my thoughts disattached from what was my body. I am locked inside this body which was once mine but now it is a stranger to me and I have no control over what happens to it and when. At first all I could feel was frustration. Frustration because I couldn t respond to you when you would talk to me, your hand in what used to be my hand, your fingers entwined in fingers that are now unknown to me for i now have no feeling in this body you call mine. Analysis Of Suffer The Little Children During the documentaries: Suffer the Little Children, and Educating Peter, many things were brought to attention about the treatment of Special needs individuals in the past and the more recent treatment in the school systems of the near present. Starting with Suffer the Little Children, it is amazing that such conditions were present in the United States as the mid to late 1900s, the treatment depicted would be thought by most people, to be that of the middle ages. Individuals were bound, beaten and subject to torture at the hands of a medical professional; forced to lie restrained in their own excrement, things thought to be fiction that would fill horror stories. However, on opposite end of the spectrum, we have the story of Peter, a child in the special needs class of his school. Peter was at first not accepted, but as time moved on, educators learned to handle his behavioral issues in a better way, and together they were able to have a happy ending; now peter enjoys school and is much better off. These documentaries bring forth things that may not have been known by the public, and create an awareness that some individuals have special needs and they have every right to the help they deserve. Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working conditions many of these places were closed down. Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence. Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed violent crimes. The most recent constitution came to be in 1982, and in theory it gives a serious amount of power to the National People s Congress (NPC). The NPC is a group that is elected by the provincial people s assemblies who are in turn elected by lowering ranking officials. The constitution states that the NPC is the highest Organ of state power . The constitution also gives the NPC the power to amend the constitution; supervise its enforcement; enact and amend laws; ratify and abrogate treaties; approve the state budget and plans for national economic and social development; elect and impeach top officials of the state and judiciary; and supervise the work of the State Council, the State Central Military Commission, the Supreme People s Court, and the Supreme People s Procuratorate . However, in reality the NPC serves mostly as a rubber stamp for Party decisions. One example of this is the NPC s right to elect party officials such as the President and Vice President. Technically the NPC has these rights, it is the CPC that actually appoints these positions and the NPC just simply agrees with the Party s decisions. A driving reason that the NPC has so much theoretical power, yet does not have any power in reality is that many NPC deputies are members of the CPC or are state officials or civil servants. China rejects the principle of separation of power, and this allows for NPC deputies to hold positions in these other branches of government. The NPC is designed to oversee the other branches of government that they are usually in, therefore, many members of the NPC are overseeing themselves. Voluntary euthanasia can be described as a mercy killing made at the request of the patient to end their life in a manner that minimizes further pain and discomfort. If one ends their life, then there is no practical relevance because the dead do not feel happiness or suffering (Singer, 2003, p. 529). Jojo Moyes wrote the book Me Before You that was later turned into a film that tells the tale of the once vibrant, charismatic, and wild Will Traynor, whose zest for life was altered by a freak accident that left him an angry, emotionally barren quadriplegic determined to end his self perceived meaningless, pain filled life. Aristotle s virtue ethics attempt to answer the question of how to live a good life. Three key concepts of Aristotle s virtue ethics are Eudaimonia, arĂȘte, and telos. Eudaimonia is described as happiness or flourishing. Aristotle believed that humans have the unique ability to govern their action with reason. The ideal practice of reason is exemplified through one s work. People are able to experience the good life through excelling in fulfilling work. The idea of excelling is described by Aristotle s concept of arĂȘte. ArĂȘte is best defined as virtue or being an outstanding example of its kind. It is the idea of achieving excellence based on your end purpose or telos. Aristotle believed that virtues become perfected as our potential of reaching our unique telos are actualized. Since perhaps around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. One time, I went into his tent and three of his slaves were sitting in there, reading through the battle plans and eating our food. Some of the soldiers didn t get anything to eat that night and here these disgusting blacks were eating our food! How dare they! So I punished them like any true Confederate man would do. Then I went to talk to Smith about this, and he kept trying to change the subject. Major Green just called. I have to speak to go speak to Smith. I ll write you again tomorrow dear. Yours, ... I bet we could have beat them right then and there, but Smith said to not initiate battle. We went back to Cashtown to face General A.P. Hill. Hill then sent his best men to go back and investigate. His best men included me, but none of my superiors. How embarrassing! We came back to let everyone know that there definitely would be a battle tomorrow. I am ecstatic that he chose me to go over my superiors. I m assuming that there will be a battle tomorrow. More good news is that Smith is to weak to fight tomorrow! I will have the opportunity to lead my men to a victory at the battle of Gettysburg. I have to go consult with other generals about tomorrow s plans. I ll write you again tomorrow ... • 30. Daddy Sylvia Plath Analysis A prevailing feeling when someone dies is the feeling of having unfinished business. This idea was clearly incorporated into Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy. Through Plath s life she despised her father. Seven years, if you want to know (74). Plath even compares him to a Nazi at one point in the poem, I thought every German was you (Pg. 29). Even though the Nazi period was not during the time of Daddy s publishing date to associate the amount of hatred she had for her father Plath compares him to the worst person she could think of, a Nazi. Plath conveys the fact that when people die there is a feeling of unfinished business that does not die along with them. Throughout the poem Plath connects how she did not have enough time to fulfill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To fill the feeling she used her husband who then she held the same hatred for. I killed one man, I ve killed two (75). Plath does not literally mean killed when she metaphorically writes but only that they are out of her life. Another literary device that Plath uses is connecting the poem to herself. Usually it is a norm to keep the author separate from the poem, but in Plath s case it is a different. She is writing about her own father. Knowing this sends the meaning of the work to a different level of context and makes it stronger because it is truly how she feels about the loss of her own father. Not only is she is explaining that she does not like her father, she tells how the entire community despises her father, And the villagers never liked you. They are dancing and stamping on you (77). A major hit on her father in this line, writing that the herself and the villagers are dancing on his grave enforces the fact that she hated her father. Plath writes that she goes back to dance on his grave because she is not at peace with the hate she has for her father yet. The feelings left after him dying are still there. Although Plath did write about her own father she still created characters with in the poem who portrayed her husband and father. Building her husband up to be pictured as a The vampire who said he was you and drank my blood for a year (72) and her father as a Marble heavy bag full of God (8) creates ... • 31. A Generation Of The Workplace A Generation Lost In the Workplace Denise Gelina Columbia College A Generation Lost In the Workplace The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment today, and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters the workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the shift of power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they have never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that generation is Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and handing the reins to Millennials. Failing to utilize Generation X is a mistake, and managers can maximize employees my utilizing this overlooked sector of the workforce. Generations The oldest generation in the workforce is the Greatest Generation or also known as Traditionalist (born prior to 1946) ( Mixing and Managing Four Generations of Employees FDU ). They came of age during the great depression, the start of the cold war to be seen and not heard (MU Extension). Believing in a work ethic of loyalty, tenure, and quietly working hard gets rewarded. While some are still employed full, and it seems will never retire, many have handed off the reins to Baby Boomers. • 32. Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Plymouth Colonies Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians, Powhatan, was intending to entice the English through generosity and their selfless attitudes. Sure enough, this act of kindness was overlooked by the English colonists, and they immediately began searching for wealth such as tobacco. As we have spoken about in class, Jamestown was a colony that significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land. John Smith s leadership swooped in and saved the colony of Jamestown. He conducted means of exploring the land and gathering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p. 574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next, we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew the answer for. Having Spade in the ... • 35. What Are The Techniques Used In Monty Python And The Holy... Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic illusion. Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the story. My first example is the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ARTHUR: There it is! The Bridge of Death! ROBIN: Oh, great. KNIGHT: Look! ARTHUR: There s the old man from Scene 24! BEDEMIR: What is he doing here? With this technique the filmmakers can belittle the famous story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by making this story look trivial. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes into the film. Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century. My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science. GUARD #1: It s not a question of where he grips it! It s a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn t matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here. GUARD #1: Listen, in order to maintain air speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second, ...
