Energy efficiency is essential to provide citizens with...
Energy efficiency is essential to provide citizens with functioning electricity and fuel. The energy I
would use to fuel my city is hydroelectric because its pros and cons outweigh the pros and cons of
solar, coal, wind, and nuclear energy. The most efficient energy source for my city is hydroelectric
energy. Hydroelectric energy is the most efficient for many reasons. Hydroelectric energy s power fuel
is water, which does not give off harmful chemicals or waste in the air or water; keeping our planet
very clean. Hydroelectric energy also has constant power. Its power is generated by moving water.
Water is constantly moving. After hydroelectric plants are produced their energy can produce
electricity very cheaply. Hydroelectric plants can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would not choose solar energy for my city for many reasons. Solar panels still gives off pollution
produced as a result of manufacturing, transportation, and installation. The production of energy is
rather noisy from the use of fuels. Solar energy can only be used during daylight hours. Bad weather
can decrease the efficiency of solar energy. Modern solar panels are only around 20% efficient. The
initial investment of solar cells is extremely high. Solar energy has too many cons to be the best
possible source of energy.
Coal is also a very destructive source of energy, and is definitely not the supreme source. Coal is a non
renewable resource. Coal creates the most CO2 in the environment. This destroys the ozone layer and
leads to many climate problems. CO2 is toxic at concentrations above 5 percent. Coal is also the
largest contributor to global warning. Coal causes mass destruction of the environment around coal
mines. Coal mining is the 2nd highest emitter of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Coal mining has
high levels of radiation. Coal plants energy sources release the more radiation than any other energy
source! Wind power is a very inconsistent energy source. The wind is unsteady and unpredictable.
Wind power is quite expensive and hard to manage. Both residents and commercials companies must
pay for the expensive power wind turbines provide. Wind farms are located in rural areas and

Persuasive Essay On Ice Hockey
Since you re fortunate enough to attend a prep school in New England, you must be aware of the
highly competitive boys ice hockey program. Luckily you attend the one and only Canterbury School
which just so happens to be known for the best hockey program on the east coast. The whole team
even swears upon every saint s puck member having at least three divisions one college looks, even
the players who are getting their first opportunity to dress this year! The school has taken pride in this
team for over 90 years now, making it the highest priority around campus. Wondering where all that
tuition money is going? Well that answer is simple, its going to the boy s varsity saint s puck squad!
Remember no matter how much money you put in the only thing that is going to make a team
successful in the athletic ability and love for the game, which is made very apparent with this group of
boys. This team is very loving and accepting towards one another. It is a very diverse bunch, with tall,
short, big boned , thin, American, Canadian, Korean, ½ American and ½ Canadian, Finnish. From
meals to mass they are always huddled together, no one is left behind. Everyone is envious of boys

William Shakespeare s Sonnet #55 is a Shakespearian sonnet. It contains three quatrains, or four line
stanzas, and ends with a couplet. The poem is written in iambic pentameter. The speaker is the older
man. This is the same speaker in many of Shakespeare s sonnets. In this sonnet the speaker is telling
the young man, beautiful, male addressee that he is not sharing his beauty with the world, but is
selfishly keeping it all to himself. He s explaining to the addressee that he needs to have children to
spread his beauty and share it with the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second quatrain Shakespeare uses strong imagery of war and destructiveness. He says that no
war or physical damage to the world will erase the memory of the poem. Nothing will ruin the living
record of [his] memory (Shakespeare line 8). In the third quatrain he reiterates the idea of immortality
and image of destruction and waste is continued. Shakespeare writes, gainst death and all oblivious
enmity/ shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room (Shakespeare lines 9 10).
The ending couplet sums up the main idea of the sonnet. It continues with the image of eternity and
the memory of the addressee. When
Shakespeare writes So, till the judgment that yourself arise / you live in this and dwell in lovers eyes
there is still an emphasis on the word of the poem itself. The real praise is towards the words of the
speaker, not the beauty of the addressee or the speakers love for him. The regularity in the flow of the
poem helps the main ideas flow well. There s more fluidity in the regulation; this allows each quatrain
to build on each other strengthening the main point of the sonnet. The lesson to be learned in this
specific sonnet is the idea of the immortality of literature. The entire poem is masked by the idea of
praise for the addressee.
The language of the poem, the destructiveness, suggests the survivability of the poem itself.

Alexander The Great s Large Accomplishments
Alexander the Great s large accomplishments in the third century BC changed the landscape of Afro
Eurasia in ancient times, and arguably through modern day. With the growth of his empire came the
spread of Hellenistic culture throughout the lands he conquered. From the Mediterranean to Asia to
the Middle East he helped expand trade routes and most of all the spread of ideas in religion, politics,
and culture. One of the larger aspects of this spread of culture from Alexander was the expansion of
the Greeks language across Afro Eurasia. As he conquered the lands the Greek language quickly
became used by the people he took over, especially in trade systems and political structures that arose.
The newly grown Empire basked in the benefit of a common language, now allowing traders and
merchants to understand each other even through the mixed backgrounds. ADD SOMETHING
ABOUT THE POLITICAL SYSTEM BENIFITTING FROM THE LAUGUAGE. The common
language also introduced people to Greek art, drama, and philosophy. Schools were built all around to
teach the citizens of Greek philosophical ideas such as Epicureanism and Stoicism. The culture and
political environment created by Alexander s Empire made the competition of Greek city states almost
obsolete. This competition being gone helped to create a mentality more focused on being part of a
vast Empire, rather than being the citizen of a certain city state which had till this time been a
predominate part of Greek culture and politics.

Triangle Theory Of Love Essay
The theories of love covered many components and view about what love is, what drives us to want
someone and also what brings someone to committing to that significant other for the long run. One
theory that I found to be the most helpful in categorizing love and explaining what makes a person
want to find love in the first place was the Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love. Sternberg s Triangle
Theory of Love have three points in the triangular shape which are decision/commitment, intimacy
and passion. Decision and commitment is when a person consciously make the decision to do thing for
the relationship and invest time into the relationship for better or worse. The person at this time is in
total awareness and in control of what they would like to do in the relationship and where they would
want to lead it in the future. Passion is when our partner reciprocates our passion or lust for them
through kissing or making love. Intimacy is where we have become very emotionally invested in our
partner expressing ourselves through communication. This theory is one that shows that couples can
be a match or mismatch, but show points to where they are very compatible. I thought this theory on
love was the most meaningful and useful to me because it is simplistic for understanding and to being
able to test it in real life. I believe that as a person seeking out for love, you want to probably go
through the three points on the triangle that Sternberg has described. I believe that

Analysis Of A Christmas Carol
Have you ever thought of Christmas as a humbug, or just another ordinary day? Probably not, but if
you were to ask Ebenezer Scrooge (from A Christmas Carol), his response to Christmas would be Bah,
Humbug. Just after we finished reading the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, last week, on
December 1, 2017, my classmates and I went to see a live performance of A Christmas Carol at Actors
Theatre of Louisville. The play was adapted by Barbara Field, and directed by Drew Fracher. In this
essay I will be reviewing how well Actors Theatre portrayed the plot, setting, and characters from the
book A Christmas Carol into a live play.
A Christmas Carol takes place on a cold, snowy Christmas Eve in London, England, during the
Victorian period in the 1840 s. The day started very cold, yet everyone was still joyful. I think the
performance depicted the Victorian setting very well. I would describe the set very detailed and
extravagant. There was fake snow falling from everywhere is the ceiling, and it almost looked very
real to me. There was also walls that stood very tall and could turn to make the stage look like a whole
new set. The costumes also created the 1840 Victorian mood because it was very old style looking,
and ragged. You could tell which people were very rich at the time, and people who were not very
wealthy by the style and condition of the costumes they wore. There was also great, loud sound
effects, that set the mood the most when it would get scary

The Influence Of Learners First Language
The influence of learners first language (L1) plays a significant role in learning a second language
(L2). In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the influence of
Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to demonstrate the
native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and Alzughaibi, 2012; among others).
Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness (things that are present in a small number of
languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps
predicting errors that L2 learners will have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal
markedness. The aim of the present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for
mispronunciation of word final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this
study contradict the MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word
finally, the Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. The
subjects tended mostly to either substitute or devoiced final voiced stops. This paper will start with a
brief discretion of the word final voiced stops (/b d g/) in Saudi Arabic and English. Then, an
explanation about the MDH is involved followed by the section of data source and analysis, and

Ramzi Yousef s Terrorism Goes Global
Introduction
When the term Terrorist is the topic of conversation in businesses or social gatherings, images of
individuals wearing mask or head gear come to mind. However, todays terrorist is hard to pinpoint
because of their ambiguous character/feature. Unlike traditionally armed, and uniformed soldiers,
terrorists may be any person representing any country around the world. Once considered uneducated,
cladded middle eastern attire, or a rogue demeanor depicted by a lack of grooming standards. Most
Americans view middle easterners involved in terrorist activities to look like Osama Bin Laden or
somewhat similar.
One coincidental and sure fact that is known about terrorism, is that it has in fact gone global .

Ramzi Yousef found no satisfaction in his successful assault on the WTC, he wanted to send the
message early on that he could reach his reign of terror to as Far East as the United States and its allies
reached. Unfortunately, next on his hit list was Manila, plotting another airline disaster, and by doing
so, Ramzi Yousef was no longer a local terrorist, but acquired the status of an international terrorist.
To exacerbate matters, Ramzi Yousef was captured and arrested in Pakistan in 1995, yet planning
more terror attacks targeting Asia. Paul Pillar s article, points out several key elements and what
characterized Yousef and the team that carried out the successful attack in 1993. First, he identified all
members of the WTC attack as unaffiliated to any known terrorist group. Each came together for one
purpose, and all had the freedom to travel from one point to another undetected. Additionally, a
vulnerability on passport checks at international borders was clearly established and identified that
despite our best intentions highly discontented people can bring about the malignant combination of
ringleader, collaborators, and target. Secondly, Paul Pillar asserts that modern day terrorist utilize
technology to their advantages without the risk of being captured. Today, the war against ISIS is
waged on the ground globally, but with collaborators internationally. The overwhelming growing

Essay on Necessity of Pre-nuptial Agreements within Australia
Necessity of Pre nuptial Agreements within Australia
Legislation recognising pre nuptial agreements has been well overdue and this recognition will
significantly improve the social and economic impact of divorce.
Pre nuptial agreements, however controversial, are nothing more than a commonsense idea which not
only eases the burden that the financial division of divorce has of the courts, but makes the whole
divorce proceedings emotionally and financially easier for everyone involved. Something as simple as

It also deals with, to a small extent , the extra finance given to whoever would have custody of the
children post divorce, though this is mostly in the hands of the divorce courts. (www.pre

divorce, as it is making it easier for everyone involved.
Before December 2000, pre nuptial agreements were not held legally binding by legal courts couples
could form their own agreement before marriage but the courts did not have to stick by them. This
created a problem within the marriage where certain circumstances called for the division of property
to be different from that as stated by the Family Law Act. Some of these special circumstances might
include if you want to keep premarital assets seperate, if you are blending families (both partners
already have children), you want to ensure that the family wealth stays within the family, or if you
simply just want certainty as to property rights and maintenance payments upon a potential divorce.

The Death Penalty Debate Essay
The Death Penalty Debate
The issue of the death penalty is widely disputed. So disputed that maybe I shouldn t have picked this
topic. But nevertheless, the death penalty is an issue that needs to be addressed. Should the death
penalty be abolished from our criminal justice system? Well, that depends on whom you ask. If you
ask me... no. I personally don t see anything wrong with the death penalty because there are a lot of
criminals that are just too dangerous to society and death is the only punishment they deserve.
I know that it is in the eighth amendment that prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, and I can t
think of a greater punishment for a crime than death, but I believe that exceptions should be made.

The most recent state to enact a death penalty law was New York in 1995. As of January 1998, 38
states and the federal government have capital punishment laws in effect. Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa,

and Wisconsin do not have a death penalty. (http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/just/death/)
Death penalty advocates argue that the execution of convicted murderers deter others from committing
murder for fear that they will also be executed, and also that murderers will be incapacitated: once
dead, they will have no opportunity to commit additional murders. Death penalty opponents dispute
the deterrent effect of capital punishment, arguing that few murderers rationally weigh the possibility
that they might face the death penalty before committing a murder. Finally, death penalty opponents
do not dispute that execution incapacitates executed murders, but argue that life imprisonment without
possibility of parole is equally incapacitating. (Jacob Sullum, Los Angeles)

Violations Of International Humanitarian Law
Nowadays, the number of violations of international humanitarian law s norms had become an
increasing phenomena. The situation requires urgent and effective international control and
prosecution in international tribunals for grave crimes recognised under international humanitarian
law as crimes presenting real threat for humanity and peace. In order to control such crimes, the
relevant legal mechanisms for international prosecution were established by creation of ad hoc
tribunals: International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and International Criminal
Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) . In 1993, UN Security Council established ICTY as result of grave
violations of international humanitarian law in the territory of former Yugoslavia. This tribunal was
created on ad hoc basis as a subsidiary organ of UN. The ICTY determines the individual criminal
responsibility, according to its Statute. The former was allowed to operate jurisdiction over grave
abuses of Geneva Conventions, violations of the laws and customs of war, genocide, crimes against
humanity, which were allegedly committed in the territory of former Yugoslavia since 1991 in time of
armed conflict. As it was noticed by UN Security Council, the International Criminal Tribunal for
former Yugoslavia was created in the belief that it would contribute to ensuring that such violations
are halted and effectively repressed .

Gandhi Vs Mao
Through the twentieth Century, multiple leaders rose up to change society to what they believed was
better; two of these people were Mahatma Gandhi and Mao Zedong. They both changed their
countries socially, politically, and economically. Gandhi was a nonviolent leader of a revolution
against Great Britain s ownership of India, while Chairman Mao was a dictator and founder of the
People s Republic of China. Gandhi and Mao appear utterly opposite at first glance. However, there
are similarities that are uncovered as we investigate their beginnings, intentions, and dedication to
what they believed in. Mohandas Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October 2nd, 1869. His
family was rich enough to send him to a law school in London. After his education, he returned to
India to start a law practice. That law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, they both had the same passion to change their respective countries. Mahatma Gandhi and Mao
Zedong led revolutions against their governments. These two leaders organized millions to fight for
their cause. Next, both leaders sympathized with the poor and wanted their society to help those in
need. For example, Gandhi encouraged the poor to stand up to the British rule of India, and Mao killed
off the wealthy and intelligent to help the poor and uneducated. Chairman Mao and Gandhi held to
socialist views and wanted to get rid of all social classes. Also, they advocated equality for women,
which was uncommon in their time. Lastly, they both broke laws and risked their lives to create
change in their country. This can be seen in how Gandhi was known for peacefully refusing to follow
laws that discriminated against Indians, and Mao led an entire army against the Chinese government.

Non Effective Followers And The Groups Of Followers,...
The four groups of followers operated as alienated followers, sheep, yes people, and survivors, all
lacking the key factor of being able to succeed without strong leadership. Sheep lack initiative and
sense of responsibility, while yes people refuse to be against the leader (Wren 195). Alienated
followers tend to think more independently but are prone to group think. They are normally
dissatisfied and/or resentful. Any of these three groups can at any time merge into the survivor group
because this group of followers operate under the slogan better safe than sorry (Wren 195). If a leader

Transformational leadership is used by a leader to appeal to the moral values of followers in an
attempt to raise their consciousness about ethical issues and to mobilize their energy and resources to
reform institutions (Yukl Charismatic 261). Pseudotransformational leadership refers to
transformational leadership, but when the leader is self consumed, exploitive, power oriented, [and]

exchange of benefits, the leader is utilizing transactional leadership (Yukl Charismatic 261).
When first studying Jim Jones, one would think that he led through transformational leadership;
however, he actually leds through pseudotransformational leadership. Since Jones preached about
equality and accepting all men, his messages seemed consistent with ethical morals. He also formed a
lively church setting, where people would dance, jump, run around, yell, and scream. This stirred
emotions in most members and even visitors, and is often talked about in movies (McCloud). One
would think that people would be tired after all the commotion, but, on the contrary, people felt
revived and energized after services. Jones finally showed his true style when he moved part of his
congregation to Guyana. At this location, Jones

Corporate Social Responsibility Of Islamic Banks
This research adopts a comprehensive and fastidious literature review that covers an array of primary,
secondary, and tertiary sources.
RESULTS
The Islamic banking industry has come a long way in issues of corporate governance. However,
Islamic banks need to be at the forefront of pioneering innovative, impactful, and far reaching social
responsibility and corporate governance practices since for starters, they are faith based institutions.
Islamic banks need to stop resting on their laurels and stop playing catch up in these domains.
Moreover, Islamic banks need to deal conclusively with the array of challenges facing their Shari ah
corporate governance endeavors so as to meet their objectives in a more effective manner.
DISCUSSION
Corporate Social Responsibility of Islamic Banks
Aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility of Islamic Banks:
All the activities of Muslims and Islamic entities are supposed to follow the objectives of Shari ah
known as Maqasid al Shari ah. According to the prominent Muslim sage, scholar, philosopher, and
prolific teacher of the days of ere known as Al Ghazali, The objective of the Shari ah is to promote the
well being of all mankind, which lies in safeguarding their faith (din), their human self (nafs), their
intellect (`aql), their posterity (nasl) and their wealth (mal). Whatever ensures the safeguard of these
five serves public interest and is desirable (Chapra, 2000, p. 118). Individuals, businesses, and the

How Aminotransferases Are Enzymes Involved On Catalyzing...
Introduction:
Aminotransferases are enzymes involved in catalyzing reactions between amino acid and α keto acid.
Amino acid such as L glutamate contains an amine group whereas α keto acid such as pyruvate
contains a keto group. The amine group of L glutamate is exchanged with the keto group of α keto
acid resulting in the α keto acid becoming an amino acid and the amino acid becoming a keto acid.
Aminotransferase catalyzes the reaction of transferring α amino group of L glutamate to pyruvate in
exchange for the α keto group of pyruvate where L alanine and α ketoglutarate are formed.
Aminotransferases are specific for the amino acid formed and reactions catalyzed by
aminotransferases are reversible. Aminotransferase used in the formation of alanine is called
glutamate pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT) where in the formation of aspartate, glutamate
oxaloacetate aminotransferase (GOT) is used. (Vroon, D., Israili, Z, 1990)
In part 1, the aim is to examine the specificity as well as the catalytic activity of GPT in freshly
minced beef heart extract by incubation and chromatographic assays (paper chromatography and thin
layer chromatography) respectively. Paper chromatography is used to separate and identify individual
amino acid components. Amino acid components migrate vertically at different rates according to their
attraction for mobile non water phase in comparison to their attraction for stationary water phase.
Therefore, hydrophobic amino acid migrate faster than

The Hellenic And Hellenistic Renaissance
The Hellenic and Hellenistic shift was a turning point for Greek culture. The Hellenic are those who
lived in ancient Greece before Alexander the Great. The Hellenistics are those who lived in the period
after Alexander the Great s conquest. Alexander the Great was a mighty and strong leader of the Greek
people. The people that were under his following respected him greatly. We can tell the drastic
changes that occurred after Alexander Great was leader by the art, philosophies, and religion. The
Hellenistic Changes that occurred showed us that the Hellenistic priorities transformed drastically
from what the Hellenic ways were like. The Hellenic and Hellenistic are greatly differentiated by the
art that they created. Their art work showed their own ideas of what the modern day person looked
like in their eyes. When looking at the Hellenic period of art we find that the Hellenic people
displayed what they thought a perfect human would look like. The Hellenic people thought the truth
was in the beauty of the person. The Hellenic display of art was what ideal beauty was to them. The
people in the art looked very healthy and muscular. In all reality the Hellenic people had less money
than the Hellenistic people put their artwork displayed their people in a rich and higher class way. The
textbook says, art in the Hellenistic Age declined noticeably from high standards of the preceding age
( World Civilizations, Chapter 9, Greek Humanism, page 112). This shows us that the

Organisational Culture And Organizational Culture
Organisational culture refers to the shared beliefs and values guiding the thinking and behavioural
styles of members (Cooke and Rousseau, 1988, in Bratton 2010: 334), indicating that employees who
accept the common values of an organisation and put great effort on commitments are likely to build
up a strong culture to an organisation. Edgar Schein (2004) proposed three levels of organisational
culture. As employees go through changes, they gain experiences from the past, adapt to a new
environment and develop ability to solve problem. The first level is artefacts, which include all visible
characteristics of an organisation, for instance, the architectures/furniture in the office, uniforms of
employees and language. These are the observable elements of an organisational culture and might
influence the way and attitude of how the employees work. The second level is espoused values in
which the influence patterns of observable behaviour at work can be recognised. Each member will
impose dominant values and rules of conduct about the culture and these affect employees certainty to
work under a particular area. The perceived value that can demonstrate reliability and be scientifically
tested will be transformed into assumption. It then comes to the third stage of basic assumptions which
are taken into granted and are difficult to change. When an assumption or belief about human nature
was supported to be worked successfully, this frames how the reality should be and shapes

key similarities in their treatment of desire as the most legitimate object of desire and love as figuring
as far less significant in relative importance. Though the desire are two different kinds. The desire is
the thirst for knowledge in the book, The Answer/ La Respuesta: Including Sor Filotea s Letter and
New Selected Poems (English and Spanish Edition.). In The Answer, Sor Juana writes the whole letter

The authors writes many different kinds literatures, some literatures are about exploring the world for
unknown things, and some literatures are about showing some people s mind. But the essence of these
different kinds literatures are the same that it is people s desire to learn and know the world. In
Apuleius The Golden Ass, Lucius shows very interesting after he hears the story about the magic from
these two travelers, Already on tenterhooks, then, as I said, in my hopes and my enthusiasms all at
once, I went about sticking my nose into everything I saw, detail by detail. (The Golden Ass 2:1), and
his desire for the unknown power, the magic, push him to get the feeling trip of the magic in his
further life in the book. So Lucius story is the exploring the world for unknown things. In The
Answer/ La Respuesta: Including Sor Filotea s Letter and New Selected Poems (English and Spanish
Edition.), this book is about Sor Juana s mind, she is very lovely to learn knowledge and she hits back
at her church in the literature of disapproval, she embodies the ideological fight for women s
liberation, the requirements of gender equality. Although both The Answer/ La Respuesta: Including
Sor Filotea s Letter and New Selected Poems (English and Spanish Edition.) and The Golden Ass,
both of the authors use desire to be the base for their literatures to push the stories developing,
especially at the points those can decide the story could be long or short. At the beginning of Apuleius
s The Golden Ass, when Lucius turns in ass, he has many choices to eat fresh flower to help him turn
back in the human, but Lucius s desire for unknown magic stops himself and to watch what can
happen in the further. In Sor Juana s literature, she has the choice to stay in palace and keep far away
from the church that against her mind because at 17th century people don t like women learning
knowledge. So both of the two literatures, The Answer/ La

Options for Production Systems Applicable to IAAS
There are four broad options for production systems applicable to IAAS, namely: farm dams; pond
culture; tank culture, and cage based culture. Production system design for any one integrated farming
model is likely to fit into one of the following three categories: Extensive systems: characterized by
ambient conditions, low stocking density and generally using existing infrastructure with little or no
modification (e.g. farm dams) or management intervention (e.g. no supplementary feeding). Semi
intensive systems: usually occurs in modified/constructed ponds, cages or tanks under ambient
conditions with moderate stocking densities requiring management of water exchange, water quality
and feeding regimes. Intensive systems: high stocking density, high levels of capital investment and
reliant on complete control of water quality and feeding regimes under largely controlled
environmental conditions. Ponds can vary greatly in size and depth, depending on site characteristics,
but are generally 0.1 2.0 ha in area, 0.5 2.0 m deep and may have a sloping bottom from 0.5 m to 1.5
2.0m deep, draining to a harvesting sump (Ogburn et al. 1995). For this project the pond type will be
discussed, as the fish farm we selected is pond culture. There are different reasons affecting to the
choice of the selection of farm. The main reason for choosing the Charly s Angels culture is that as the
main goal of this thesis is to utilize water use of fishponds the largest water user farms

Millard Meiss s Painting In Florence And Siena After The...
The Black Death left more than an impact on the population of Florence and Siena in Italy, it impacted
the economy, the religious views, and the art of the thirteenth century. Millard Meiss in his book
Painting In Florence And Siena After The Black Death highlights the changes that occur in the artistic
world in Florence and Siena after the Black Death hits in 1348, 1363, and 1374. He focuses on the
similarities between the two cities and reasons behind them such as the common experience of
economic failure, pestilence, social conflict, their fear, sense of guilt, and varieties of their religious
response (P. 8).
Millard Meiss was a historian of late medieval and early Renaissance art. He went to New York
University where he studied medieval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chapter is structured to tell of the economic and political crises the cities experienced leading up
to the Black Death then moves onto the effects the plague had on culture and art. In the section about
the Black Death, Meiss used statistics of deaths in the cities to prove himself credible on the subject
but did not state the source from which he got the numbers. He also included anecdotes from survivors
such as Angolo di Tura to give a sense of imagery of the bodies piled up in the streets, piling them up
tier upon tier as merchandise is stowed in a ship (P. 65). In the section labeled The Effect Upon
Culture And Art, Meiss talks about the new opinions on art specifically about religious art, which
there was a new demand for. He explains in detail after the plague people led lives of irresponsible
pleasure. The reason Meiss talked about this consequence of the plague the most in the chapter was to
show how the people of the two cities lived each day like it was their last and became self indulgent.
He ties the conclusion of the chapter back to art and how the artists of the time transitioned into a new
movement of greater

Moreover, it becomes easy to understand the network process as it can be explained through seven
different steps. It is important to note that each of these layers is inter related and acts as a support for
the respective upper layers. Below is the diagrammatic representation of the seven different layers of
the OSI model. Figure 1: OSI Model As shown in the above figure 1, these seven layers can be
segmented into two groups namely; Upper Layers and Lower Layers. Upper layers comprises of top
three layers such as Application, Presentation, and Session whereas lower layers comprises of
remaining layers such as Transport, Network, Data Link and Physical. In general, the upper layers are
mostly software programs running on a computer or some hardware device which interacts with the
user and are primarily concerned with implementing the application running over the network whereas
the lower layers are mostly hardware at physical layer and steadily involves software as it moves
closer to network layer and it mainly takes care of data formatting, data encryption and data
transmission over the network. 2.1. OSI Layering Layer 1 Physical Layer It is the bottom layer of the
OSI protocol stack as shown in figure 1. It is termed as physical , mainly because it facilitates physical

Testamentary Freedom and Validity of Wills Essay
Equity Essay
Legislation and case law has been evolving throughout history surrounding testamentary promises.
The attitudes of the courts have ebbed and flowed towards claims testing the validity of a will. New
Zealand was the first country in the commonwealth jurisdiction to enact a family protection act, the
Testators Family Maintenance Act 1900. Although legislation has changed considerably since the
incorporation of the first act, the central concept has remained essentially unchanged. There are three
main statutes in New Zealand governing family protection and testamentary promises, Property

Application of the Testamentary Promises Act
Blanchard J clearly sets out, in Bryne v Bishop, the practical application of the relevant law, being
section 3 of the Testamentary Promises Act. Blanchard J sets out what qualifies work , services and
promise as described by the act, the recipient of the promise, the nexus between the services ad the
promise, and the role of the courts. The first issue is determining what qualifies the term services or
work under the act. The courts have been clear that to satisfy the term of services or work the acts
must be more than that of normal expectations of family life or social interaction. It may however be
satisfactory for acts to have a compassionate or affectionate nature in certain circumstances. Although
the parameters have not been specifically outlined, the courts have been clear that service can not be
satisfied if the facts show that of young people simply sharing the pleasures of each other s company
in a common household. The next issue which Blanchard J addresses is the term promise. It as been
declared that the term, for the purposes of the act, may be interpreted outside of the dictionary
meaning of the word. The term promise as defined in section 2 of the Act includes any statement or

May, 25, 2016 Urbanization The city life often referred to as an experience like no other. The big
change an individual makes when moving from a rural area to the city affects all aspect of a person
life. This movement is called urbanization; is a population shift from rural to urban areas, the gradual
increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas , and the ways in which each society adapts
to the change. Urbanization is predominantly the process by which towns and cities form and become
larger. It usually occurs when a country is still developing or the better services available in the city.

What is urbanization? Urbanization is the increase of population in an urban area. It is as much as a
social process as it is an economic and territorial process. There are a few major cause of urbanization
which include the industrial revolution, immigration, push and pull factor. Industrialization is the
increase and development of a society or country that transforms its self s itself from a primarily
agricultural society into one based on the industrialized of goods and services. The increasing number
of factories created has a powerful need for labor, compelling people in rural areas to move to the city,
and drawing immigrants from around the world to come to Canada for employment. As a result,
Canada has transformed from a rural to an urban nation, and the demographics of the country shifted
dramatically. Subsequent industrial development the process of urban¬ization is accelerating at much
more rapidly rate. Urbanization brings about social and cultural changes in community life, which also
correspond to modernization. The loss of community life and traditional large sized joint families on
one hand and growing individualism, and smaller sizes of house¬holds and development of
independent personalities in a diverse community on the other, are the commonly observed
characteristics of urban as well as modern way of

Phaethon and the Sun Chariot
In the myth of Phaethon and the Sun Chariot, Phaethon often brags about the fact that is father is the
sun god, Helios. However, many other children doubt this and tease Phaethon. This bothers him, so he
demands that his mother, Clymene, give him proof of his paternity. Clymene reassures him, and sends
him from Ethiopia to India, where Helios lives. When he arrives, Phaethon is awed by the magnificent
palace. He proceeds inside to find his father upon a diamond throne. Helios was thrilled by Phaethon s

This is because some of the morals taught by this story remain important today. Humility, family, and
importance of promises are the most relevant of these values in the 21st century. Humility is important
for a number of reasons. Primarily, it helps you succeed. If you very overly prideful, you wouldn t see
any use in practicing skills or learning information, because you would have the sense that could do it
all already. The value of family plays a crucial role in society today as well, as many people share
close bonds with others in their family. This ensures that people always have someone who they can
trust and seek help from. Lastly, keeping promises helps you gain trust. This is important for
strengthening relationships with others. The myth of Phaethon and the Sun Chariot helped the Greeks

How Heart Is Represented Through Two Types Of Scenes,...
Discussion
According to the table, it can be concluded that heart is represented through two types of scenes;
funerary and daily life.
Firstly: Funerary Scenes
Funerary Scenes were the most common scenes in the New kingdom tombs as they were represented
on the walls of the longitudinal corridor (Passage) until the reign of Anenhotep III as they were
illustrated on the walls of the transverse hall. Funerary scenes included many consecutive events
started with purification process, mummification, and transportation of the deceased body to the tomb
through a funerary procession after the pilgrimage to Abydos then opening of the mouth ritual in front
of the tomb as one of the burring rituals.
1 Opening of the Mouth
This ritual was acted in front of the tomb in order to enable the deceased to speak, eat, see, hear and
move again in the netherworld as well as it helps him to retrieve all his power and abilities in addition
to preparing him with magic to face the dangers afterlife. It didn t appear in the 18th dynasty tombs in
a large scale until the reign of Tuthmosis III. It is very important to mention that there were many
successive steps in the procession of opening of the mouth as the sacrifice rituals to the Upper and
Lower Egypt in which the priests offered the heart and the foreleg of the bull to the mummy or the
statue of the deceased. The heart is represented five times in the scene of the Opening of the mouth
which is depicted three times on the northern wall

Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water
The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of
California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than
pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find
other ways to get water for the Californians?
First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries
One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will
cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water
now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much
more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not
a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project
is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that
desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do
nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150
homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply
that by 2,257. The total is 338,550, meaning it will take approximately $350,000 to supply these
homes with only 7% of the water that they

The Impact Of Canadian Policing During The Nineteenth Century
2) There has been an evolution of police work in Canada. A number of events have shaped Canadian
policing, and in particular have shaped three different kinds. These are municipal, provincial, and
federal police services. All these services had to start from somewhere. In many respects, the
emergence of Canadian policing during the nineteenth century closely mirrored the development of
punishment and corrections (Griffiths 2004).
In the earliest days, policing in communities was carried out by community residents. Later, some
communities started to rely on militias and the navy, while other regions remained unpoliced. These
situations were obviously not sufficient to deal with the rising problems faced in an industrialized
society. These times are categorized as early municipal policing. Complaints by fishermen led to the
first court of justice in North America in Trinity Bay. These early attempts eventually failed. The
English appointed fishing admirals , who were captains of fishing vessels empowered to settle
disputes. These men were untrained, and normally no better than the people they were to police. In
1792 a Royal proclamation was issued that authorized the Governor of Newfoundland to appoint
justices and constables (Course Notes). Early municipal police had three main mandates which were:
to police conflicts with ethnic groups, to maintain moral standards by enforcing laws against
drunkenness, prostitution and gambling, and to apprehend criminals. Townspeople

The first project entitled Contemporary City is for a city of 3 million inhabitants.
The city comprised a group of skyscrapers cross shaped steel frames and glass walls giants, housing
offices and homes for the rich, each placed in rectangular green areas. In their midst is a large
transport hub with highways on several levels, and an airport on the top floor. Le Corbusier separates
the pedestrian access routes for cars, the unconditional supporter of cars as a means of transport.
The workers lived in the suburbs in zigzag blocks.
The next project, Radiant City is built along the same principles, only blocks are no longer built on
social criteria, but on the number of family members.
Le Corbusier s early work was related to nature, but as his ideas progressed, he developed the Maison
Domino, a basic building concept for mass production with free standing pillars and rigid floors. He
settled in Paris in 1917 where he published his book called Vers une architecture (Towards a New
Architecture), based on his earlier articles in L Esprit

Motivation by Commission Based Pay
Introduction:
In today s competitive environment, companies are constantly striving to survive and grow by pushing
their sales department to grow sales and in turn their bottom line. As a great motivational tool, most
companies that rely stronly on their sales force will use incentives contracting such as commission
based pay.
According to Washington (2009) , commisions are a form of variable pay by which staff earn a cut of
the income they create for their employer . As a result, the company directly links its perfomance to
those of its sales staff so that their income is dependent on the company s sucess.
According to Interest and Octaviani (2009), a selling agent has two direct tasks: (1) prospecting for
customers and (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author continues to argue that commissions are a great way to inject sales motivation into the
workforce ( Meyer, 2010) but too many companies fear that it will detract from customer service and
customer relationship. In fact, when a customer accepts a product or service that is offered through
aggresive selling, the customer satisfaction level actually improves because the firm was able to offer
a product or service, the customer did not know he/she needed it ( Meyer, 2010). Anticpating customer
wants and needs before they themselves are aware of it is the true key way in building an effective
sales force.
Caruth (2006) argues that by having a commission based pay, a company is able to motivate their sales
staff to exert more effort for every customer they try to service. That may not necerssrily mean it will
result in a closed sale as over aggresiveness can lead the customer to get frusrated and see the whole
experience in a negative way.
Nevertheless, it also benefits the company by improving their human resources prcatices in
recruitment. An organization that uses commission based pay is likely to attract results oriented sales
personnel who value a high earnings potential and the freedom of action that may come with it (
Caruth, 2006). As a result an organization can have a competotive advantage by using commission
based pay in recruiting top talent. Straight commission plans tend to quickly eliminate incompetent
sales

The energy I would use to fuel my city is hydroelectric because its pros and cons outweigh the pros and cons of solar, coal, wind, and nuclear energy. The most efficient energy source for my city is hydroelectric energy. Hydroelectric energy is the most efficient for many reasons. Hydroelectric energy s power fuel is water, which does not give off harmful chemicals or waste in the air or water; keeping our planet very clean. Hydroelectric energy also has constant power. Its power is generated by moving water. Water is constantly moving. After hydroelectric plants are produced their energy can produce electricity very cheaply. Hydroelectric plants can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would not choose solar energy for my city for many reasons. Solar panels still gives off pollution produced as a result of manufacturing, transportation, and installation. The production of energy is rather noisy from the use of fuels. Solar energy can only be used during daylight hours. Bad weather can decrease the efficiency of solar energy. Modern solar panels are only around 20% efficient. The initial investment of solar cells is extremely high. Solar energy has too many cons to be the best possible source of energy. Coal is also a very destructive source of energy, and is definitely not the supreme source. Coal is a non renewable resource. Coal creates the most CO2 in the environment. This destroys the ozone layer and leads to many climate problems. CO2 is toxic at concentrations above 5 percent. Coal is also the largest contributor to global warning. Coal causes mass destruction of the environment around coal mines. Coal mining is the 2nd highest emitter of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Coal mining has high levels of radiation. Coal plants energy sources release the more radiation than any other energy source! Wind power is a very inconsistent energy source. The wind is unsteady and unpredictable. The poem is written in iambic pentameter William Shakespeare s Sonnet #55 is a Shakespearian sonnet. It contains three quatrains, or four line stanzas, and ends with a couplet. The poem is written in iambic pentameter. The speaker is the older man. This is the same speaker in many of Shakespeare s sonnets. In this sonnet the speaker is telling the young man, beautiful, male addressee that he is not sharing his beauty with the world, but is selfishly keeping it all to himself. He s explaining to the addressee that he needs to have children to spread his beauty and share it with the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second quatrain Shakespeare uses strong imagery of war and destructiveness. He says that no war or physical damage to the world will erase the memory of the poem. Nothing will ruin the living record of [his] memory (Shakespeare line 8). In the third quatrain he reiterates the idea of immortality and image of destruction and waste is continued. Shakespeare writes, gainst death and all oblivious enmity/ shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room (Shakespeare lines 9 10). The ending couplet sums up the main idea of the sonnet. It continues with the image of eternity and the memory of the addressee. When Shakespeare writes So, till the judgment that yourself arise / you live in this and dwell in lovers eyes there is still an emphasis on the word of the poem itself. The real praise is towards the words of the speaker, not the beauty of the addressee or the speakers love for him. The regularity in the flow of the poem helps the main ideas flow well. There s more fluidity in the regulation; this allows each quatrain to build on each other strengthening the main point of the sonnet. The lesson to be learned in this specific sonnet is the idea of the immortality of literature. The entire poem is masked by the idea of praise for the addressee. The language of the poem, the destructiveness, suggests the survivability of the poem itself. Shakespeare is using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Alexander The Great s Large Accomplishments Alexander the Great s large accomplishments in the third century BC changed the landscape of Afro Eurasia in ancient times, and arguably through modern day. With the growth of his empire came the spread of Hellenistic culture throughout the lands he conquered. From the Mediterranean to Asia to the Middle East he helped expand trade routes and most of all the spread of ideas in religion, politics, and culture. One of the larger aspects of this spread of culture from Alexander was the expansion of the Greeks language across Afro Eurasia. As he conquered the lands the Greek language quickly became used by the people he took over, especially in trade systems and political structures that arose. The newly grown Empire basked in the benefit of a common language, now allowing traders and merchants to understand each other even through the mixed backgrounds. ADD SOMETHING ABOUT THE POLITICAL SYSTEM BENIFITTING FROM THE LAUGUAGE. The common language also introduced people to Greek art, drama, and philosophy. Schools were built all around to teach the citizens of Greek philosophical ideas such as Epicureanism and Stoicism. The culture and political environment created by Alexander s Empire made the competition of Greek city states almost obsolete. This competition being gone helped to create a mentality more focused on being part of a vast Empire, rather than being the citizen of a certain city state which had till this time been a predominate part of Greek culture and politics. ... • 9. Triangle Theory Of Love Essay The theories of love covered many components and view about what love is, what drives us to want someone and also what brings someone to committing to that significant other for the long run. One theory that I found to be the most helpful in categorizing love and explaining what makes a person want to find love in the first place was the Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love. Sternberg s Triangle Theory of Love have three points in the triangular shape which are decision/commitment, intimacy and passion. Decision and commitment is when a person consciously make the decision to do thing for the relationship and invest time into the relationship for better or worse. The person at this time is in total awareness and in control of what they would like to do in the relationship and where they would want to lead it in the future. Passion is when our partner reciprocates our passion or lust for them through kissing or making love. Intimacy is where we have become very emotionally invested in our partner expressing ourselves through communication. This theory is one that shows that couples can be a match or mismatch, but show points to where they are very compatible. I thought this theory on love was the most meaningful and useful to me because it is simplistic for understanding and to being able to test it in real life. I believe that as a person seeking out for love, you want to probably go through the three points on the triangle that Sternberg has described. I believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Analysis Of A Christmas Carol Have you ever thought of Christmas as a humbug, or just another ordinary day? Probably not, but if you were to ask Ebenezer Scrooge (from A Christmas Carol), his response to Christmas would be Bah, Humbug. Just after we finished reading the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, last week, on December 1, 2017, my classmates and I went to see a live performance of A Christmas Carol at Actors Theatre of Louisville. The play was adapted by Barbara Field, and directed by Drew Fracher. In this essay I will be reviewing how well Actors Theatre portrayed the plot, setting, and characters from the book A Christmas Carol into a live play. A Christmas Carol takes place on a cold, snowy Christmas Eve in London, England, during the Victorian period in the 1840 s. The day started very cold, yet everyone was still joyful. I think the performance depicted the Victorian setting very well. I would describe the set very detailed and extravagant. There was fake snow falling from everywhere is the ceiling, and it almost looked very real to me. There was also walls that stood very tall and could turn to make the stage look like a whole new set. The costumes also created the 1840 Victorian mood because it was very old style looking, and ragged. You could tell which people were very rich at the time, and people who were not very wealthy by the style and condition of the costumes they wore. There was also great, loud sound effects, that set the mood the most when it would get scary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Influence Of Learners First Language The influence of learners first language (L1) plays a significant role in learning a second language (L2). In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the influence of Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to demonstrate the native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and Alzughaibi, 2012; among others). Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness (things that are present in a small number of languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps predicting errors that L2 learners will have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal markedness. The aim of the present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for mispronunciation of word final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this study contradict the MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word finally, the Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. The subjects tended mostly to either substitute or devoiced final voiced stops. This paper will start with a brief discretion of the word final voiced stops (/b d g/) in Saudi Arabic and English. Then, an explanation about the MDH is involved followed by the section of data source and analysis, and finally conclusion. Unlike traditionally armed, and uniformed soldiers, terrorists may be any person representing any country around the world. Once considered uneducated, cladded middle eastern attire, or a rogue demeanor depicted by a lack of grooming standards. Ramzi Yousef found no satisfaction in his successful assault on the WTC, he wanted to send the message early on that he could reach his reign of terror to as Far East as the United States and its allies reached. Unfortunately, next on his hit list was Manila, plotting another airline disaster, and by doing so, Ramzi Yousef was no longer a local terrorist, but acquired the status of an international terrorist. To exacerbate matters, Ramzi Yousef was captured and arrested in Pakistan in 1995, yet planning more terror attacks targeting Asia. Paul Pillar s article, points out several key elements and what characterized Yousef and the team that carried out the successful attack in 1993. First, he identified all members of the WTC attack as unaffiliated to any known terrorist group. Each came together for one purpose, and all had the freedom to travel from one point to another undetected. Additionally, a vulnerability on passport checks at international borders was clearly established and identified that despite our best intentions highly discontented people can bring about the malignant combination of ringleader, collaborators, and target. Secondly, Paul Pillar asserts that modern day terrorist utilize technology to their advantages without the risk of being captured. Today, the war against ISIS is waged on the ground globally, but with collaborators internationally. The overwhelming growing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Necessity of Pre-nuptial Agreements within Australia Necessity of Pre nuptial Agreements within Australia Legislation recognising pre nuptial agreements has been well overdue and this recognition will significantly improve the social and economic impact of divorce. Pre nuptial agreements, however controversial, are nothing more than a commonsense idea which not only eases the burden that the financial division of divorce has of the courts, but makes the whole divorce proceedings emotionally and financially easier for everyone involved. Before December 2000, pre nuptial agreements were not held legally binding by legal courts couples could form their own agreement before marriage but the courts did not have to stick by them. This created a problem within the marriage where certain circumstances called for the division of property to be different from that as stated by the Family Law Act. But nevertheless, the death penalty is an issue that needs to be addressed. Should the death penalty be abolished from our criminal justice system? Well, that depends on whom you ask. If you ask me... no. I personally don t see anything wrong with the death penalty because there are a lot of criminals that are just too dangerous to society and death is the only punishment they deserve. Death penalty opponents dispute the deterrent effect of capital punishment, arguing that few murderers rationally weigh the possibility that they might face the death penalty before committing a murder. Finally, death penalty opponents do not dispute that execution incapacitates executed murders, but argue that life imprisonment without possibility of parole is equally incapacitating. • 15. Violations Of International Humanitarian Law Nowadays, the number of violations of international humanitarian law s norms had become an increasing phenomena. The situation requires urgent and effective international control and prosecution in international tribunals for grave crimes recognised under international humanitarian law as crimes presenting real threat for humanity and peace. In order to control such crimes, the relevant legal mechanisms for international prosecution were established by creation of ad hoc tribunals: International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) . In 1993, UN Security Council established ICTY as result of grave violations of international humanitarian law in the territory of former Yugoslavia. This tribunal was created on ad hoc basis as a subsidiary organ of UN. The ICTY determines the individual criminal responsibility, according to its Statute. The former was allowed to operate jurisdiction over grave abuses of Geneva Conventions, violations of the laws and customs of war, genocide, crimes against humanity, which were allegedly committed in the territory of former Yugoslavia since 1991 in time of armed conflict. They both changed their countries socially, politically, and economically. Gandhi was a nonviolent leader of a revolution against Great Britain s ownership of India, while Chairman Mao was a dictator and founder of the People s Republic of China. Gandhi and Mao appear utterly opposite at first glance. However, there are similarities that are uncovered as we investigate their beginnings, intentions, and dedication to what they believed in. Chairman Mao and Gandhi held to socialist views and wanted to get rid of all social classes. Also, they advocated equality for women, which was uncommon in their time. Lastly, they both broke laws and risked their lives to create change in their country. This can be seen in how Gandhi was known for peacefully refusing to follow laws that discriminated against Indians, and Mao led an entire army against the Chinese government. The four groups of followers operated as alienated followers, sheep, yes people, and survivors, all lacking the key factor of being able to succeed without strong leadership. They are normally dissatisfied and/or resentful. Any of these three groups can at any time merge into the survivor group because this group of followers operate under the slogan better safe than sorry (Wren 195). When a leader appeals to followers self interest and offers an exchange of benefits, the leader is utilizing transactional leadership (Yukl Charismatic 261). When first studying Jim Jones, one would think that he led through transformational leadership; however, he actually leds through pseudotransformational leadership. Since Jones preached about equality and accepting all men, his messages seemed consistent with ethical morals. He also formed a lively church setting, where people would dance, jump, run around, yell, and scream. This stirred emotions in most members and even visitors, and is often talked about in movies (McCloud). One would think that people would be tired after all the commotion, but, on the contrary, people felt revived and energized after services. Jones finally showed his true style when he moved part of his congregation to Guyana. At this location, Jones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. How Aminotransferases Are Enzymes Involved On Catalyzing... Introduction: Aminotransferases are enzymes involved in catalyzing reactions between amino acid and α keto acid. Amino acid such as L glutamate contains an amine group whereas α keto acid such as pyruvate contains a keto group. The amine group of L glutamate is exchanged with the keto group of α keto acid resulting in the α keto acid becoming an amino acid and the amino acid becoming a keto acid. Aminotransferase catalyzes the reaction of transferring α amino group of L glutamate to pyruvate in exchange for the α keto group of pyruvate where L alanine and α ketoglutarate are formed. Aminotransferases are specific for the amino acid formed and reactions catalyzed by aminotransferases are reversible. Aminotransferase used in the formation of alanine is called glutamate pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT) where in the formation of aspartate, glutamate oxaloacetate aminotransferase (GOT) is used. (Vroon, D., Israili, Z, 1990) In part 1, the aim is to examine the specificity as well as the catalytic activity of GPT in freshly minced beef heart extract by incubation and chromatographic assays (paper chromatography and thin layer chromatography) respectively. Paper chromatography is used to separate and identify individual amino acid components. Amino acid components migrate vertically at different rates according to their attraction for mobile non water phase in comparison to their attraction for stationary water phase. Therefore, hydrophobic amino acid migrate faster than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Hellenic And Hellenistic Renaissance The Hellenic and Hellenistic shift was a turning point for Greek culture. The Hellenic are those who lived in ancient Greece before Alexander the Great. The Hellenistics are those who lived in the period after Alexander the Great s conquest. Alexander the Great was a mighty and strong leader of the Greek people. The people that were under his following respected him greatly. We can tell the drastic changes that occurred after Alexander Great was leader by the art, philosophies, and religion. The Hellenistic Changes that occurred showed us that the Hellenistic priorities transformed drastically from what the Hellenic ways were like. The Hellenic and Hellenistic are greatly differentiated by the art that they created. Their art work showed their own ideas of what the modern day person looked like in their eyes. When looking at the Hellenic period of art we find that the Hellenic people displayed what they thought a perfect human would look like. The Hellenic people thought the truth was in the beauty of the person. The Hellenic display of art was what ideal beauty was to them. The people in the art looked very healthy and muscular. In all reality the Hellenic people had less money than the Hellenistic people put their artwork displayed their people in a rich and higher class way. The textbook says, art in the Hellenistic Age declined noticeably from high standards of the preceding age ( World Civilizations, Chapter 9, Greek Humanism, page 112). This shows us that the ... • 21. Organisational Culture And Organizational Culture Organisational culture refers to the shared beliefs and values guiding the thinking and behavioural styles of members (Cooke and Rousseau, 1988, in Bratton 2010: 334), indicating that employees who accept the common values of an organisation and put great effort on commitments are likely to build up a strong culture to an organisation. Edgar Schein (2004) proposed three levels of organisational culture. As employees go through changes, they gain experiences from the past, adapt to a new environment and develop ability to solve problem. The first level is artefacts, which include all visible characteristics of an organisation, for instance, the architectures/furniture in the office, uniforms of employees and language. These are the observable elements of an organisational culture and might influence the way and attitude of how the employees work. The second level is espoused values in which the influence patterns of observable behaviour at work can be recognised. Each member will impose dominant values and rules of conduct about the culture and these affect employees certainty to work under a particular area. The perceived value that can demonstrate reliability and be scientifically tested will be transformed into assumption. It then comes to the third stage of basic assumptions which are taken into granted and are difficult to change. When an assumption or belief about human nature was supported to be worked successfully, this frames how the reality should be and shapes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Options for Production Systems Applicable to IAAS There are four broad options for production systems applicable to IAAS, namely: farm dams; pond culture; tank culture, and cage based culture. Production system design for any one integrated farming model is likely to fit into one of the following three categories: Extensive systems: characterized by ambient conditions, low stocking density and generally using existing infrastructure with little or no modification (e.g. farm dams) or management intervention (e.g. no supplementary feeding). Semi intensive systems: usually occurs in modified/constructed ponds, cages or tanks under ambient conditions with moderate stocking densities requiring management of water exchange, water quality and feeding regimes. Intensive systems: high stocking density, high levels of capital investment and reliant on complete control of water quality and feeding regimes under largely controlled environmental conditions. Ponds can vary greatly in size and depth, depending on site characteristics, but are generally 0.1 2.0 ha in area, 0.5 2.0 m deep and may have a sloping bottom from 0.5 m to 1.5 2.0m deep, draining to a harvesting sump (Ogburn et al. 1995). Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find other ways to get water for the Californians? First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. • 34. The Impact Of Canadian Policing During The Nineteenth Century 2) There has been an evolution of police work in Canada. A number of events have shaped Canadian policing, and in particular have shaped three different kinds. These are municipal, provincial, and federal police services. All these services had to start from somewhere. In many respects, the emergence of Canadian policing during the nineteenth century closely mirrored the development of punishment and corrections (Griffiths 2004). In the earliest days, policing in communities was carried out by community residents. Later, some communities started to rely on militias and the navy, while other regions remained unpoliced. These situations were obviously not sufficient to deal with the rising problems faced in an industrialized society. These times are categorized as early municipal policing. Complaints by fishermen led to the first court of justice in North America in Trinity Bay. These early attempts eventually failed. The English appointed fishing admirals , who were captains of fishing vessels empowered to settle disputes. These men were untrained, and normally no better than the people they were to police. In 1792 a Royal proclamation was issued that authorized the Governor of Newfoundland to appoint justices and constables (Course Notes). Early municipal police had three main mandates which were: to police conflicts with ethnic groups, to maintain moral standards by enforcing laws against drunkenness, prostitution and gambling, and to apprehend criminals. According to Washington (2009) , commisions are a form of variable pay by which staff earn a cut of the income they create for their employer . The author continues to argue that commissions are a great way to inject sales motivation into the workforce ( Meyer, 2010) but too many companies fear that it will detract from customer service and customer relationship. In fact, when a customer accepts a product or service that is offered through aggresive selling, the customer satisfaction level actually improves because the firm was able to offer a product or service, the customer did not know he/she needed it ( Meyer, 2010). Anticpating customer wants and needs before they themselves are aware of it is the true key way in building an effective sales force. Caruth (2006) argues that by having a commission based pay, a company is able to motivate their sales staff to exert more effort for every customer they try to service. That may not necerssrily mean it will result in a closed sale as over aggresiveness can lead the customer to get frusrated and see the whole experience in a negative way. Nevertheless, it also benefits the company by improving their human resources prcatices in recruitment. An organization that uses commission based pay is likely to attract results oriented sales personnel who value a high earnings potential and the freedom of action that may come with it ( Caruth, 2006).
