Essay Comparing Judaism And Christianity
How is Islam similar to Christianity and Judaism?
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, in contrast to Hinduism and Buddhism, are all monotheistic faiths
that worship the God of Adam, Abraham, and Moses creator, sustainer, and lord of the universe. They
share a common belief in the oneness of God (monotheism), sacred history (history as the theater of
God s activity and the encounter of God and humankind), prophets and divine revelation, angels, and
Satan. All stress moral responsibility and accountability, Judgment Day, and eternal reward and
punishment.
All three faiths emphasize their special covenant with God, for Judaism through Moses, Christianity
through Jesus, and Islam through Muhammad. Christianity accepts God s covenant with and
revelation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is reflected historically in their use of similar greetings meaning peace be upon you : shalom
aleichem in Judaism, pax vobiscum in Christianity, and salaam alaikum in Islam. Often, however, the
greeting of peace has been meant primarily for members of one s own faith community.
Leaders of each religion, from Joshua and King David to Constantine and Richard the Lion Hearted to
Muhammad and Saladin, have engaged in holy wars to spread or defend their communities or empires.
The joining of faith and politics continues to exist in modern times, though manifested in differing
ways, as seen in Northern Ireland, South Africa, America, Israel, and the Middle East.
Islam is similar to Judaism in its emphasis on practice rather than belief, on law rather than dogma.
The primary religious discipline in Judaism and Islam has been religious law; for Christianity it has
been theology. Historically, in Judaism and Islam the major debates and disagreements have been
among scholars of religious law over matters of religious practice, whereas in Christianity the early
disputes and cleavages in the community were over theological beliefs: the nature of the Trinity or the
relationship of Jesus human and divine natures.
How do Muslims view Judaism?

Discourse And Narrative Of Sports
Discourse Community Narrative Imagine you were dangling on the edge of a cliff, and the only thing
that was holding you up from falling to your death was a piece of rope with the person or people of
your choice. Do you know who you would want on the other side? A lot of coaches now of days use
this Hold the Rope saying as a motivational speech for their sports team, including my softball
coaches. As a softball player you face a lot of adversity in the sport. There are times when you are in a
hitting slump and can not hit a ball for 3 straight games, or even times when you make routine
mistakes on the field. Through all of this it is difficult not to get down on yourself and it is even harder
to erase that self doubt you create in your head. Softball is a fast paced sport, therefore it is important
to slow the game down. This means to be relaxed and not too anxious for the ball. When a player
becomes too anxious for the ball 9 times out of 10 they end up either missing the ball or they fumble
the ball. All of these reasons is why teamwork is an important aspect to softball. When I was 8 years
old my dad asked me if I wanted to try playing softball on the local recreational league. At the time I
was already playing soccer, basketball, and was also taking karate lessons. Since they were all at
different times of the season I said yes to trying softball out. When I first started playing I didn t
expect to have such a strong connection for the sport since my main passion

Gestalt Therapy Essay
Gestalt Therapy
I. Summary and Integration of Major Concepts
Founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940 s, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological
existential methodology which emphasizes experience and experimentation. Gestalt is a German term
that means a complete pattern or configuration (p. 112). Though there are many modalities and styles
in Gestalt therapy, it is holistic in its approach uniting mind, body, and feeling (p. 112). Some concepts
at the core of Gestalt therapy are the organism as a whole , emphasis on the here and now , and
awareness (pp. 223 225). Perls believed that human beings are unified organisms (p.223) and that
mind and body were not separate entities. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through this increased awareness that the health (or mental health) of the individual is restored.
II. Breakthroughs and Steps in Learning Practicing Client Centered therapy helped me get over most
of my fear and apprehension about performing as therapist and client in front of my classmates. So, as
we (the class) began our first session in Gestalt I initially felt less nervous about participating, in fact,
I volunteered to be the first client in my group during the first demonstration. Just like client centered
therapy, I had again been in a group that was assigned to Dr. Fiebert and I felt fortunate to have him
demonstrate because I knew that I would learn a great deal given his years of experience. I had learned
through the reading and class lecture that this was a therapy that called for the therapist to be creative
in getting the client to express emotions and feelings. I was anxious to see what creative techniques
Dr. Fiebert would employ. He began the session by asking me what I was aware of and I told him that
I was feeling some tension in my neck and shoulders. He then asked me to describe the tension, rate
the level of tension on a scale of 1 10, increase the tension and relate it to and experience or incident
in my life. I linked to a recent situation I had experienced with my mother, whom he then brought in to
the empty chair to begin the

The Photographer and His Camera Essay
The Photographer and His Camera
Since the invention of the camera in 1839, photography has transformed the entire nature of art in that
it brought about a great revolution of the traditional arts, pushing it from depictions of a world we
already knew to expressions of inward gestures and creativity. Photography conveniently replaced
with images the words that were once essential to describing a visual. These images are in fact very
different in nature from the continuous action of television, as well as the timeless sculpture.
Abolishing the concept of time and space, the technology of the photo is thus fabricated by the desire
to give permanence to daily feelings and experience. The photograph ... Show more content on

Because man and machine are inseparable, the influences of art and technology run toward
convergence. Rudolph Serkin, a concert pianist, when asked who he performed for, himself, the
audience, or the dead composer, answered, none of them, he performed solely for the piano. In a world
where mankind and technology are so dependent on each other, the photographer photographs
exclusively for his camera, not himself or what is in front. He is, in turn, the mass produced message.
The possibility of seeing the photographer s work as completely neutral or aesthetically intriguing is
basically non existent. There is no essential difference between photography as documentation and
photography as artwork. By definition, photography is printing positives chemically from negatives to
yield an exact duplication; but through the lens of a camera, all objects, including people, are
unnaturally fixed. It is undeniable that the photographer creates with the intention to sell and
prostitute. Thus, he supports the desire to multiply the human image to proportions of mass produced
merchandise, just as the piano supports the mass production of recorded pieces with its pianist. The
photographer is perhaps the subliminal message in his photographs because he simultaneously sells

Veertebrate Paleontology
Science itself is a wide field of research and career opportunities. In it, many areas of research are
available for one to choose from. Paleontology is but one of these options, and it encompasses even
more divisions of study. It has numerous subdivisions: micropaleontology, paleobotany, paleoecology,
the list goes on. All of the divisions cover things that once were, and track how things changed over
time to become what they are today, hence the suffix of paleo , which means old or ancient . Despite
the variety of fields available in Paleontology itself, it is not a common choice for careers based in the
field of science in the United States. Trends in paleontology have been compared side by side with
ones in geochemistry and geophysics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the five eyed, one armed Opabinia reglias was an oddity from the Cambrain era recently
discovered. Yi Qi was discovered in 2015, and it harkens back to the dragon myths of the olden times
with its bat like wings and wyvern esque appearance. Yutyrannus huali shows that larger theropods
could have feathers like the smaller, more well known Velociraptor. Nanuqsaurus showed that
tyrannosaurs lived farther up north than originally anticipated, hence its name of polar bear lizard .
These discoveries continue to rewrite what is known about prehistory by throwing a morphological
monkey wrench into currently accepted theories and ideas. As such, the field must continue to adapt as
new discoveries and creatures are brought to light. New advances in research have given the
paleontologists new insight, and let them more easily bounce back from any ground breaking
discoveries that turn their theories on their heads. Of course, their theories must still be sensible, or
they will otherwise be discredited. David Peters is a perfect example of what not to do when
presenting theories on prehistoric life, and has been completely discredited by the paleontological
community as a

Film Analysis Of Rear Window By William Hitchcock
Rear Window has unique filmography. Emphasising the idea of voyeurism and watching others.
Observing the first scene instead of beholding the main character or even side characters, you
recognize the building of the various apartments and the courtyard and then you meet Jeff. Jeff is a
broken man, he lays down sweating, asleep on a chair. But you only catch a glimpse of Jeff, he is not
important instead the film focuses on the people in the apartments nearby in the rest of the film he will
watch out his window. Through this film, you observe this evolution of the characters through the lens
of this beautifully shot film made by the sets and background characters. Without sets, this film would
not be exactly what it is. This story is told through its images, music and background characters as
much if more than its lead. This is a movie about watching movies and as an audience member, you re
watching Jeff watches his neighbors. Hitchcock bluntly tells us we are watching a film. An enormous
amount of the film is at night similar to a dark theater this is shown in. Hitchcock shows the audience
us through Jeff. By focusing on the community and the environment in the film before you even meet
Jeff present the theme of the film. By showing the composer shaving, the couple who sleeps outside to
avoid the heat, the dancer stretching before you view Jeff cast and his room. You distinguish how he
lives his life in the opening scene and his room. True you discover, he is a

A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size
Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I
believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It s
common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a
clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The
shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the
top of the head to the bottom of the feet.
Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between
height and shoe size.
Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were
from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be
somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their
information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did the
standard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion
of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It s used when assessing data. To
find the standard deviation, it s necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is
from the mean (the deviation). Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a
scatter plot graph

loved, or the least to be able to impress someone and get his admiration. At the same time Mandras
also wants to join the army, and his reasons come from love as well. He wants to go to war, because
this way he feels he will be able to do something important, and thus by the end of it, he would be

He wants to impress people by his actions and show that his life is not pointless, that he risked himself

The next similarity between the characters is what they have found out about the war, their
disappointment and despair. Both of them realised that war is not at all as what they thought it would

The Athletics Team Level Of Sport Competition Essay
West Rimrock University a small, private, liberal arts university in the United States. In the past, the
university was known for having a very large scale master s degree program as well as offering
doctoral degrees. They also were well known for their athletics department; the university once
compete at a NCAA Division I level offering all of their student athletes full aid scholarships and
grants. Their most successful teams on campus were their tennis teams, winning multiple national
titles and defeating other very impressive schools. The other teams however, were competing at high
levels but not like the tennis teams. In 1972, the Educational Amendment Title IX was passed leaving
the school with some hard decisions to be made in regards to how they spend their money. Keeping
the athletics teams at Division I was going to be expensive so by 1973, all but the men and women s
tennis teams were going to move to NCAA Division III, a non scholarship level of sport competition.
After the decision was made, the athletics department suffered a huge loss of participation due to the
students feeling like they weren t getting anything out of being a part of the team without the
scholarship. When Dr. Gentry Cook was hired as the new president of the university in 1979 he made
it clear from the start that he wanted to have an equal balance of having a very strong academically
focused university as well as having a phenomenal athletics department to keep up the school spirit.

Comparison Between Hamlet And Oedipus The King
Life From Prison to Prison The main characters in Fatih Akin s Head On, Shakespeare s Hamlet, and
Sophocles Oedipus the King are all subject to confinement in both similar and dissimilar ways alike.
All of these characters fall under the hand of family and cultural values, often having to suffer from
the actions of family members and the expectations forced upon them by their people. Yet, these
characters all endure other forms of confinement specific to their own situations; Sibel and Cahit are
entrapped by love and marriage, Oedipus is restrained by his destiny and ignorance, and Hamlet is
imprisoned by trying to avenge his father s death. These constraints help the characters find temporary
salvation which is later overcome with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This action emphasizes the love that Cahit had developed for Sibel, establishing the second
imprisonment in the film. Like Sibel, Oedipus is detained by his family and his culture. He is the king
of Thebes, a city that has recently succumbed to a terrible plague, and as king, he is expected to find a
solution to this problem. After sending his right hand man Creon to an oracle and finding out that the
man who killed King Laius, the former king of Thebes, is the one who brought the plague upon
Thebes, Oedipus calls for the village prophet to tell him who is the murderer of Laius. Oedipus
bothers the prophet Teiresias until he gets an answer, however, the answer was not one to his liking;
Teiresias tells Oedipus that [he is] the land s pollution (Line 353). This instant is where the audience
becomes aware of Oedipus second prison: Ignorance. Though he may not be aware of his own
ignorance, it proves to play a large role as a confining subject, just as love is for Cahit. The truth is
something that Oedipus chooses to ignore, creating a second trap for himself. Oedipus is choosing to
oppress the truth, the very thing that could free Thebes from its plight and himself from his own
ignorance At the same time, this is also the audience s first glimpse into Oedipus destiny, which,
unbeknownst to him at the time, was to kill his father and sleep with his mother. This prophecy is just
one more thing that holds Oedipus back from true freedom. In addition to

War Of The Roses Essay
The outcome of the battle of Bosworth Field on August 22nd, 1485, has long been one of great
controversy. It marked the end of one of the bloodiest civil wars in England s history, and the dawning
of the much acclaimed Tudor era. Bosworth raises many a question regarding the ideas of loyalty and
honour in the latter years of the medieval age. Upon which side of the battle field, if either, did true
betrayal lie? The infamous War of the Roses saw families torn apart and brother turn against brother in

Fort Lauderdale s Plastic And Reconstructive Surgeon
Fort Lauderdale s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. John Michael Thomassen can use chin
implants to increase the size of the chin or he can reduce the size and/or projection of a patient s chin
with a chin reduction surgery. With both of these procedures, Dr. Thomassen provides his patients
with a natural looking chin that is more proportionate to his or her other facial features.
The Chin Plays an Important Role in the Proportions of the Face
The chin greatly affects the overall appearance of the face; furthermore, the chin also plays an
important role in the way the patient s facial profile looks. For example, a chin that is proportionately
too small for the other features of the face can cause the size of the nose and forehead to be
exaggerated. Dr. John Michael Thomassen offers chin augmentation procedures with and without chin
implants to the men and women of Fort Lauderdale, and its surrounding communities.
Chin Implants Are Used in Fort Lauderdale to Address a Weak Chin
Dr. Thomassen frequently performs chin augmentation procedures using chin implants to correct a
chin that is lacking adequate projection. This chin characteristic is referred to as a weak chin. When a
patient has a weak chin, his or her nose and forehead appear larger than they truly are.
Chin Implant Surgery Can Be Combined with Other Plastic Surgery Procedures

`` The Cradle Of Freedom `` By Nathaniel Philbrick
Samuel Adams once said, It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority,
keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. In Bunker Hill, Nathaniel Philbrick
chronicles how the conflagration of the American Revolution would erupt from the embers of the past
focusing on the great impact that those involved in the infamous battle for which the book is titled and
the battle itself would have on the colonies and their fight for liberties. This is a vivid bildungsroman
for the city of Boston, teeming with new thoughts and ideals, that would face internal conflict, which
would later give the city the title the Cradle of Freedom. 1 Setting aside the legends of the revolution,
Philbrick presents not only a historic event in American history, but also the subtle, essential moments
that are not limited to 1775 but are the underpinning mechanics of overthrowing a regime that are
essentially the same today as they were in the eighteenth century; however, focusing on our mythic
Founding Fathers, many overlook the true nature of the war that is present in every revolution.2
Unlike the hackneyed stories told to us as children on the Fourth of July, the American colonies were
not victims to an overly oppressive, malevolent motherland thousands of miles away. In fact studies
have shown that the American colonies were the least taxed people in the Western world and that,
overall, the claims of English oppression boil down to nothing more

Senior Football Coach Analysis
The coach of a senior football club is a leader of men and can be an intimidating figure to younger
players. They are stuck with a challenge of motivating 20 odd people each week, keeping it fresh and
coming up with different ways to motivate players can be difficult. As the head coach they will know
which players can motivate themselves and don t need any extra treatment to get them going. Where
as others may need a bit more extra motivation to get them focused on the job at hand. They have to
keep their speeches fresh as hearing the same thing every week just doesn t cut it and players will get
used to hearing the same thing every week and it will not have any meaning or feeling to them. If the

Reflection Paper On Engineering And Medicine
Today s lectures involved those of Mark McCready and Robert Stevenson. Mr. McCready s lesson
was centered around engineering for medicine. Mr. McCready s presentation gave a very broad
overview of the many different ways engineering and medicine are intertwined. Mr. Stevenson s
lecture was about Electrical Engineering, and went into a fair amount of depth on the field that he
specializes in, which is imagery. Both lectures gave a fair amount of information, one on a broad
spectrum of engineering, and another on a specific part of Electrical engineering. Mr. McCready s
presentation outlined how engineering benefits medicine in many ways. He began by talking about
how humans consume oxygen rather than other compounds to function. This is because aerobic
digestion is seventeen times more energetic than anaerobic digestion. We then said that the main
issues for humanity at the time are healthcare, energy, and the environment. Since engineers are
problem solvers, it is natural that engineers are working to advance healthcare and medicine.
Engineers have contributed new devices, better systems, ways to treat things, ways to regenerate
tissue, and increased understanding of diseases to medicine. We then talked about a few engineers
who have contributed a lot to medicine throughout the courses of their careers. Bob Langer, a
professor and researcher for MIT, helped develop skin replacement, as well as tissue engineering for
hearts and livers. Next we talked about Adam Heller from

The Influence of American Industrialization on the Projects of Le Corbusier: the Ville Contemporaine.
The end of the twentieth century was marked by the unprecedented scale of construction, huge
advances in science and technology: new advanced designs, building materials, construction
technology and strategies.1 Along with that, architects have been disclosing the failure of the
traditional aesthetic concepts in the art of postmodern architecture, which were based on the
assumption that politics should no longer be connected with the disciplines of administration.2
Therefore, the consequence of this failure was enormous number of debates occurred during that time:
whether to reject the modernity and to return to conservative values or to embrace the imperatives of
modern technology .3 In the quest for reshaping human industry based on the highly effective systems
of nature 4, the French architectural leaders were looking at vitality of American development and,
thus, the results of World War II had virtually halted new construction in France .5 According to
Bacon, French building practices could no longer be satisfying in the age of industrialization: in fact,
this notion of industrialization would be a critical factor in reconstruction 6. To keep up with this new
period of extensive consumption and mass production based society, French architects were not only
against the anarchy and uncontrolled experimentalism of the pre war avant garde 7, but also organized

Girls On The Pier Meaning
The painting is Girls on the Pier by the Norwegian Edvard Munch c. 1904. The subject of the painting
is a girl in a white dress. The girl stands and leans on the edge of a pier. She faces the viewer. Two
other girls behind her the body of water. The girl in white, disinterested, does not pay attention to the
other two. The portrayed scene is an everyday visit to a pier.
The focal point is the girl in the white dress. There is an array of mountains in the background,
delicately placed behind two houses and a tree, all under a teal sky. The simplicity allows eyes to
wander to the body of water. Eyes are then drawn to the girl in the white dress. She stands near the
middle of the painting, easily seen. Her hair is bright yellow,

A Literal Reading Of The Indian Constitution
A literal reading of the Indian constitution however the misleading. Multiple overlaps have occurred,
not merely in the concurrent sphere of jurisdiction but also in spheres explicitly assigned to the States.
Financial constraints of the states have led to the proliferation of central schemes and national
missions. The all encompassing ambit of entry 20 in List III, social and economic planning provided
the constitutional basis for the planned development model of the first phase. New elements of the
division of powers and responsibilities have begun to assume importance, overshading to a certain
extent the issues which dominated the reform agenda of the earlier period. While the issue of
distribution of responsibilities and powers in federal political, system is generally contentions, a gross
mismatch between the two can lead to serious tensions. The federal dialogue with the states is often
pre empted by central administrative and policy decisions. The Centre often decided on a particular
course of action and only thereafter seeks inputs from the States. Consensus building is after the
decision, not before. This mode of decision is not in favour of federalism . From the above discussion,
it is clear that the Indian Federation is not a partnership among equals. The Union Government is
certainly superior to the States. Not only is the area of the Centre larger by one third, but there are
three more factors giving a tilt in favour of the Centre . It is the Centre

institution of literacy campaign, subdivision of idle lands to poor blacks, formation of agrarian

Nuclear Technology And Its Impact On The Atomic Age
On August 6th and 9th, 1945 the first atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan.
With the use of these new weapons a door was opened that could never be closed, a new and uncertain
era was now upon the world, and the use of atomic power could mean the betterment or destruction of
a nation at a moment s notice. Whether you like it or not, you live in the atomic age and it can have
many implications that you may or may not know about. The Manhattan Project is well known to have
developed the first two atomic bombs, fat man, and little boy, but nuclear technology was being
researched many years before this. Uranium was first found in 1789 by Martin Klaproth, and was
discovered to have ionizing radiation in 1895 by Wilhelm Rontgen (Outline History of Nuclear
Energy). More and more information on uranium and other materials were being discovered, such as:
radioactive materials emitting alpha particles in 1896 by Henri Becquerel, in 1902 the discovery of
radiation being a spontaneous event by Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr and his increased understanding
of the atom, in 1932 when James Chadwick discovered the neutron, etc. Other nations also spent
resources on developing nuclear technology such as in Russia with their Radium Institute of
Leningrad FTI, but was hampered with Stalin s purges that eliminated prominent scientists working
there; British scientists developed the concept of the atomic bomb with the MAUD committee in 1940

The Fall Of Death, Destruction And War
In the wake of death, destruction and war came the renaissance. The renaissance was an era of cultural
rebirth that swept across Europe during the 14th to 17th century . This era marked the time in which
man returned to their classical learning and values of ancient rome and greece and began to change
their attitude towards religion (history.com staff). While the renaissance is in the past it continues to
live on throughout many different fields of art, theories and movements, however, paintings tend to be
most symbolic of what the renaissance era was. The Renaissance era was faced with the hundred years
war, the black death, classicism and the issues of religion such as the distancing from church and
humankind s search for the meaning of their existence and how life works. With these ongoing issues
renaissance paintings were often depicting images of war, death, the values from ancient greece and
rome and they became more secular as well. Additionally, the artist began to develop new techniques
such as linear perspective, realism, depth, symmetry, and classicism. Artists also began to make use of
light, detail anatomy, depict nature and focus on individuals instead of groups of people. Leonardo da
Vinci, is one of the most famous painters and at 15 was an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio
(history.com staff). He was also an inventor, scientist, doctor and philosopher and has been nicknamed

Asymmetric Warfare Is An Inherently Relational Concept
The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to a relative
dissimilarity between opponents in battle, derived from a difference in relational strength amid
warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be in terms of status and organization; means and
resources, goals and objectives; and strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in
today s conflicts varies in many tactical, strategic and operational levels, which has come to be
perceived as changing warfare. This popular perception is that with the rise of asymmetric warfare,
conventional warfare had transformed from a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular,
avant garde, asymmetric experience. In contrast to this perspective, the main argument here is that
asymmetric warfare is not a new genus of war that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct
revolution in military affairs, but rather, asymmetric warfare is a perennial characteristic of warfare, or
set of distinct conflict dynamics in warfare that occasionally surface out of asymmetric strength
between opponents in war.
At the foundation of this essay is a question calling for the analysis of the rise of asymmetric warfare .
However, after analyzing the history of asymmetric warfare and the changes and behaviors that have
taken place through this time as this essay will do my perspective is critical of the assumption in the
question that asymmetric warfare has risen . Warfare, in

Gothic Architecture In The Renaissance
The Renaissance was the following period after the Middle ages in European history. This period was
the time of rebirth of the Roman and Greek education where people slowly began to turn back and
reflect their ancestral way of mind. The Europeans, whose lives were so centered on the thought of
their soul entering the afterlife and specifically Heaven has now diminished. They did not do action
just because they had to, but they decided to do action for the better quality of human life. Europeans
began to focus on the present, logic, reason, and the reality that even though they still considered
themselves as Christians, they did not act the same way as they did in the past. In the Renaissance,
most medieval idea was altered. The Catholic church in the medieval time was using gothic
architecture that was flourishing throughout Europe. It had the flying buttresses that seemed to reach
out into Heaven, but by the time the Renaissance came along, it had longed been expired. The
cathedrals built in this period was constructed with the classical style of the Romanesque era.
Therefore, the ones like the cathedral built by Brunelleschi in Florence does not have the gothic flying
buttresses, but instead, the Roman dome. Now, the cathedrals were built so that God has seemed like
He was amongst the people. The style of music was also influenced by the time of the Renaissance.
Music was no longer under the full control of the Church. Instead, Europeans began to play

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Globalization
The term globalization refers to the increasing interconnection of all parts of the world relating to
political, economic, and cultural aspects. One example of this is where clothing companies decide to
outsource some of their manufacturing to countries like China or Vietnam for lower labor cost.
Another example of globalization would be that car parts are manufactured overseas in places like
Japan,Germany, or Korea and assembled in America. A third example of globalization is the Silk
Road, which carried goods as well as ideas and culture all across India and parts of Asia. All of these
examples show different ways in which goods or ideas spread all internationally and all over the
world. Arguably, without globalization, the world wouldn t be as diverse and advanced as it is today.
Globalization has many aspects but three important ones are how technology contributed to it, the
benefits of globalization, as well as the disadvantages of globalization. One of the first topics
regarding globalization is how technology has contributed to it. Throughout history, technology has
played an integral role in the diffusion of ideas or goods over a wide area. However, recent history has
shown advances in technology the likes of which the world has never been before. Technology is
arguably the driving force behind globalization. One of these advances contributes to globalization has
been technology that has made it easier to gain information and through better telecommunication
capabilities. One example of this technology is the internet, which allows people to gain access to a
global variety of information and resources. Another example is telecommunications like calling, e
mailing, instant messaging, and social media, which all help people communicate despite massive
distances. Both of these technological advances contribute to globalization because it allows for ideas
and information to be spread throughout the world without it being physically transported. This
allowed for different regions of the world to interact and exchange ideas, philosophies, information,
and goods There are many of benefits of regions of the world becoming integrated with one another.
One of these benefits that relates to the economic aspect of

Willis gives one of his most sensitive turns in years as the dense but sweet Captain Sharp, who
becomes something of a father figure for Sam, albeit one who shares his beer. Sam is tough. On top of
being seemingly the most gifted scout in the troop, he is also the only boy of the khaki scouts sensitive

The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women earning the right to
vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were many other items that the women in
history hoped to change, not only to better their own lives, but also the women of the future. With the
use of many documents, such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past changed many
different aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss America Pageant in 1968
and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of this second movement. They
also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which was titled The Bitch Manifesto and was
written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The second was a spin off from a children s book entitled There
was a Young Women Who Swallowed a lie which was written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery

by the upheavals of fallen trees, scattered with decaying coconuts and palm saplings (Golding 10)

They swim in the water and play in the sand like they think it is a vacation. On the other hand the
asylum appears nice to the patients and soon Maria. She refuse to play ball in the recreation yard, or to

  • 2. Essay Comparing Judaism And Christianity How is Islam similar to Christianity and Judaism? Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, in contrast to Hinduism and Buddhism, are all monotheistic faiths that worship the God of Adam, Abraham, and Moses creator, sustainer, and lord of the universe. They share a common belief in the oneness of God (monotheism), sacred history (history as the theater of God s activity and the encounter of God and humankind), prophets and divine revelation, angels, and Satan. All stress moral responsibility and accountability, Judgment Day, and eternal reward and punishment. All three faiths emphasize their special covenant with God, for Judaism through Moses, Christianity through Jesus, and Islam through Muhammad. Christianity accepts God s covenant with and revelation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is reflected historically in their use of similar greetings meaning peace be upon you : shalom aleichem in Judaism, pax vobiscum in Christianity, and salaam alaikum in Islam. Often, however, the greeting of peace has been meant primarily for members of one s own faith community. Leaders of each religion, from Joshua and King David to Constantine and Richard the Lion Hearted to Muhammad and Saladin, have engaged in holy wars to spread or defend their communities or empires. The joining of faith and politics continues to exist in modern times, though manifested in differing ways, as seen in Northern Ireland, South Africa, America, Israel, and the Middle East. Islam is similar to Judaism in its emphasis on practice rather than belief, on law rather than dogma. The primary religious discipline in Judaism and Islam has been religious law; for Christianity it has been theology. Historically, in Judaism and Islam the major debates and disagreements have been among scholars of religious law over matters of religious practice, whereas in Christianity the early disputes and cleavages in the community were over theological beliefs: the nature of the Trinity or the relationship of Jesus human and divine natures. How do Muslims view Judaism? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Discourse And Narrative Of Sports Discourse Community Narrative Imagine you were dangling on the edge of a cliff, and the only thing that was holding you up from falling to your death was a piece of rope with the person or people of your choice. Do you know who you would want on the other side? A lot of coaches now of days use this Hold the Rope saying as a motivational speech for their sports team, including my softball coaches. As a softball player you face a lot of adversity in the sport. There are times when you are in a hitting slump and can not hit a ball for 3 straight games, or even times when you make routine mistakes on the field. Through all of this it is difficult not to get down on yourself and it is even harder to erase that self doubt you create in your head. Softball is a fast paced sport, therefore it is important to slow the game down. This means to be relaxed and not too anxious for the ball. When a player becomes too anxious for the ball 9 times out of 10 they end up either missing the ball or they fumble the ball. All of these reasons is why teamwork is an important aspect to softball. When I was 8 years old my dad asked me if I wanted to try playing softball on the local recreational league. At the time I was already playing soccer, basketball, and was also taking karate lessons. Since they were all at different times of the season I said yes to trying softball out. When I first started playing I didn t expect to have such a strong connection for the sport since my main passion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gestalt Therapy Essay Gestalt Therapy I. Summary and Integration of Major Concepts Founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940 s, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological existential methodology which emphasizes experience and experimentation. Gestalt is a German term that means a complete pattern or configuration (p. 112). Though there are many modalities and styles in Gestalt therapy, it is holistic in its approach uniting mind, body, and feeling (p. 112). Some concepts at the core of Gestalt therapy are the organism as a whole , emphasis on the here and now , and awareness (pp. 223 225). Perls believed that human beings are unified organisms (p.223) and that mind and body were not separate entities. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is through this increased awareness that the health (or mental health) of the individual is restored. II. Breakthroughs and Steps in Learning Practicing Client Centered therapy helped me get over most of my fear and apprehension about performing as therapist and client in front of my classmates. So, as we (the class) began our first session in Gestalt I initially felt less nervous about participating, in fact, I volunteered to be the first client in my group during the first demonstration. Just like client centered therapy, I had again been in a group that was assigned to Dr. Fiebert and I felt fortunate to have him demonstrate because I knew that I would learn a great deal given his years of experience. I had learned through the reading and class lecture that this was a therapy that called for the therapist to be creative in getting the client to express emotions and feelings. I was anxious to see what creative techniques Dr. Fiebert would employ. He began the session by asking me what I was aware of and I told him that I was feeling some tension in my neck and shoulders. He then asked me to describe the tension, rate the level of tension on a scale of 1 10, increase the tension and relate it to and experience or incident in my life. I linked to a recent situation I had experienced with my mother, whom he then brought in to the empty chair to begin the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Photographer and His Camera Essay The Photographer and His Camera Since the invention of the camera in 1839, photography has transformed the entire nature of art in that it brought about a great revolution of the traditional arts, pushing it from depictions of a world we already knew to expressions of inward gestures and creativity. Photography conveniently replaced with images the words that were once essential to describing a visual. Rudolph Serkin, a concert pianist, when asked who he performed for, himself, the audience, or the dead composer, answered, none of them, he performed solely for the piano. In a world where mankind and technology are so dependent on each other, the photographer photographs exclusively for his camera, not himself or what is in front. He is, in turn, the mass produced message. The possibility of seeing the photographer s work as completely neutral or aesthetically intriguing is basically non existent. There is no essential difference between photography as documentation and photography as artwork. By definition, photography is printing positives chemically from negatives to yield an exact duplication; but through the lens of a camera, all objects, including people, are unnaturally fixed. It is undeniable that the photographer creates with the intention to sell and prostitute. Thus, he supports the desire to multiply the human image to proportions of mass produced merchandise, just as the piano supports the mass production of recorded pieces with its pianist. Paleontology is but one of these options, and it encompasses even more divisions of study. It has numerous subdivisions: micropaleontology, paleobotany, paleoecology, the list goes on. All of the divisions cover things that once were, and track how things changed over time to become what they are today, hence the suffix of paleo , which means old or ancient . Observing the first scene instead of beholding the main character or even side characters, you recognize the building of the various apartments and the courtyard and then you meet Jeff. Jeff is a broken man, he lays down sweating, asleep on a chair. But you only catch a glimpse of Jeff, he is not important instead the film focuses on the people in the apartments nearby in the rest of the film he will watch out his window. Through this film, you observe this evolution of the characters through the lens of this beautifully shot film made by the sets and background characters. Without sets, this film would not be exactly what it is. This story is told through its images, music and background characters as much if more than its lead. This is a movie about watching movies and as an audience member, you re watching Jeff watches his neighbors. Hitchcock bluntly tells us we are watching a film. An enormous amount of the film is at night similar to a dark theater this is shown in. Hitchcock shows the audience us through Jeff. By focusing on the community and the environment in the film before you even meet Jeff present the theme of the film. • 9. A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It s common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between height and shoe size. Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did the standard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It s used when assessing data. To find the standard deviation, it s necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is from the mean (the deviation). Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a scatter plot graph ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1972, the Educational Amendment Title IX was passed leaving the school with some hard decisions to be made in regards to how they spend their money. Keeping the athletics teams at Division I was going to be expensive so by 1973, all but the men and women s tennis teams were going to move to NCAA Division III, a non scholarship level of sport competition. After the decision was made, the athletics department suffered a huge loss of participation due to the students feeling like they weren t getting anything out of being a part of the team without the scholarship. After sending his right hand man Creon to an oracle and finding out that the man who killed King Laius, the former king of Thebes, is the one who brought the plague upon Thebes, Oedipus calls for the village prophet to tell him who is the murderer of Laius. In Bunker Hill, Nathaniel Philbrick chronicles how the conflagration of the American Revolution would erupt from the embers of the past focusing on the great impact that those involved in the infamous battle for which the book is titled and the battle itself would have on the colonies and their fight for liberties. This is a vivid bildungsroman for the city of Boston, teeming with new thoughts and ideals, that would face internal conflict, which would later give the city the title the Cradle of Freedom. 1 Setting aside the legends of the revolution, Philbrick presents not only a historic event in American history, but also the subtle, essential moments that are not limited to 1775 but are the underpinning mechanics of overthrowing a regime that are essentially the same today as they were in the eighteenth century; however, focusing on our mythic Founding Fathers, many overlook the true nature of the war that is present in every revolution.2 Unlike the hackneyed stories told to us as children on the Fourth of July, the American colonies were not victims to an overly oppressive, malevolent motherland thousands of miles away. Multiple overlaps have occurred, not merely in the concurrent sphere of jurisdiction but also in spheres explicitly assigned to the States. Financial constraints of the states have led to the proliferation of central schemes and national missions. The all encompassing ambit of entry 20 in List III, social and economic planning provided the constitutional basis for the planned development model of the first phase. New elements of the division of powers and responsibilities have begun to assume importance, overshading to a certain extent the issues which dominated the reform agenda of the earlier period. While the issue of distribution of responsibilities and powers in federal political, system is generally contentions, a gross mismatch between the two can lead to serious tensions. The federal dialogue with the states is often pre empted by central administrative and policy decisions. The Centre often decided on a particular course of action and only thereafter seeks inputs from the States. Consensus building is after the decision, not before. This mode of decision is not in favour of federalism . From the above discussion, it is clear that the Indian Federation is not a partnership among equals. The renaissance was an era of cultural rebirth that swept across Europe during the 14th to 17th century . This era marked the time in which man returned to their classical learning and values of ancient rome and greece and began to change their attitude towards religion (history.com staff). • 34. Asymmetric Warfare Is An Inherently Relational Concept The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to a relative dissimilarity between opponents in battle, derived from a difference in relational strength amid warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be in terms of status and organization; means and resources, goals and objectives; and strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in today s conflicts varies in many tactical, strategic and operational levels, which has come to be perceived as changing warfare. This popular perception is that with the rise of asymmetric warfare, conventional warfare had transformed from a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric experience. In contrast to this perspective, the main argument here is that asymmetric warfare is not a new genus of war that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct revolution in military affairs, but rather, asymmetric warfare is a perennial characteristic of warfare, or set of distinct conflict dynamics in warfare that occasionally surface out of asymmetric strength between opponents in war. At the foundation of this essay is a question calling for the analysis of the rise of asymmetric warfare . However, after analyzing the history of asymmetric warfare and the changes and behaviors that have taken place through this time as this essay will do my perspective is critical of the assumption in the question that asymmetric warfare has risen . • 36. Gothic Architecture In The Renaissance The Renaissance was the following period after the Middle ages in European history. This period was the time of rebirth of the Roman and Greek education where people slowly began to turn back and reflect their ancestral way of mind. The Europeans, whose lives were so centered on the thought of their soul entering the afterlife and specifically Heaven has now diminished. They did not do action just because they had to, but they decided to do action for the better quality of human life. Europeans began to focus on the present, logic, reason, and the reality that even though they still considered themselves as Christians, they did not act the same way as they did in the past. In the Renaissance, most medieval idea was altered. The Catholic church in the medieval time was using gothic architecture that was flourishing throughout Europe. It had the flying buttresses that seemed to reach out into Heaven, but by the time the Renaissance came along, it had longed been expired. The cathedrals built in this period was constructed with the classical style of the Romanesque era. Therefore, the ones like the cathedral built by Brunelleschi in Florence does not have the gothic flying buttresses, but instead, the Roman dome. Now, the cathedrals were built so that God has seemed like He was amongst the people. The style of music was also influenced by the time of the Renaissance. Music was no longer under the full control of the Church. Instead, Europeans began to play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of this is where clothing companies decide to outsource some of their manufacturing to countries like China or Vietnam for lower labor cost. Another example of globalization would be that car parts are manufactured overseas in places like Japan,Germany, or Korea and assembled in America. A third example of globalization is the Silk Road, which carried goods as well as ideas and culture all across India and parts of Asia. All of these examples show different ways in which goods or ideas spread all internationally and all over the world. Arguably, without globalization, the world wouldn t be as diverse and advanced as it is today. Globalization has many aspects but three important ones are how technology contributed to it, the benefits of globalization, as well as the disadvantages of globalization.
