the party. As lord Capulet tells Tybalt to endure Romeo at the party Tybalt disobediently replies
when he says, it fits, when such a villain is a guest I ll not endure him. (1.5.75 76) As Tybalt says
that he will not endure Romeo, he is being disobedient to lord Capulet as Lord Capulet has told
Tybalt to leave Romeo alone. Next, Juliet disobeys her parents as they told her to marry parents.
When lady Capulet tells Juliet to marry Paris, Juliet says, I pray you, tell my lord and father,

Research Paper On African Trypanosomiasis
African Trypanosomiasis
My disease is called the African Trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness. The microbe of the disease
is a protozoa of the species Trypanasoma brucei. There are two types of the sleeping sickness that
infects humans; Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense (T.b.r), and Trypanosoma brucei gambiense
(T.b.g). Both are mainly transmitted by the bite of an infected tsetse fly and it is most common in
rural areas. They are each named for the regions of Africa, where they were found historically. This
type of African sleeping sickness is carries by a large biting fly, known as the tsetse fly. The fly
serves both as a host and a vector for the trypanosome parasites. The Trypanosoma brucei
rhodesiense is commonly found in East Africa and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two stages: what happens in a person when they become affected, and what happened in
the tsetse fly once it bites the human. In the human stages the tsetse fly takes a blood meal inside
the host. They inject trypomastigotes and they transform into bloodstream trypomastigotes. They
are carried to other areas of the body and reach other body fluids like lymph or blood. Then the
blood stream trypomastigotes multiply by binary fission in the body fluid. While this happens in
the body of the host, the tsetse fly stages begin. When the fly is taking the blood meal, the
bloodstream trypomastigotes are ingested. They transform into procyclic trypomastigotes in the fly
s midgut. The procyclic trypomastigotes multiply also by binary fission. Then they leave the
midgut and transform again into epimastigotes. They continue to multiply by binary fission in the
salivary glands of the tsetse fly. In the tsetse fly this cycle takes about three weeks to finish.

When working in a hospital, setting whether it s an emergency room, or management office, there
s going to be a time when you are going to experience some kind of face to face crisis, according

In fact Penrose (2000) found that while large companies with ample financial resources may have
a chance of survival following a crisis without a crisis plan, 80 percent of smaller lesser known
companies without a comprehensive crisis plan vanish within two years of suffering a major
disaster.
My approach is to develop the best crisis approach through communication. Crisis communication
usually has a variety of goals some of which conflict but the most important and universal it to
reduce, and contain harm. My next step is calling all organization so they can identify the hazard
they face, my first phone call would be the (MDCH) Michigan health community department, and
then hopefully they will contact the (American Biological Safety Association). When a crisis
began to brew as a communicator and a leader I wonder when to ask for help from the outside for
instance public relations agency which might be beneficial to keep the problem from completely
overwhelming the organization. This is why I have developed relationship with an agency in case I
need them in emergency like this. Potential advantages and challenges associated with
communicating within the organization and with the public and private sectors during this crisis

Abnormal Psychology
ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY: MOOD DISORDERS
A mood disorder is the term given for a group of diagnoses in the DSM IV TR classification
system where a disturbance in the person s emotional mood is hypothesised to be the main
underlying feature. The classification is known as mood (affective) disorders in ICD 10.
English psychiatrist Henry Maudsley proposed an overarching category of affective disorder. The
term was then replaced by mood disorder, as the latter term refers to the underlying or longitudinal
emotional state, whereas the former refers to the external expression observed by others.

UNIPOLAR DISORDERS
Depression without a history of mania
In almost all countries, women are at least twice as likely as men to experience episodes of
severe unipolar depression. Approximately half of people with unipolar depression recover
within six weeks and 90% recover within a year, some without treatment (Kessler, 2002; Kendler
et al., 1997). However, most of them have at least one other episode of depression later on their
lives (Boland Keller, 2002).
The DSM IV TR approach to classifying mood disorders recognizes several subtypes of
depression, placing special emphasis on the distinction between unipolar and bipolar disorders.
Diagnostic Criteria of Major Depressive Disorder
A minimum of five of the following symptoms must be present for at least 2 weeks. Depressed
mood or loss of interest or pleasure must be one of them.
Depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day.
Diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities nearly every day.
Significant weight loss or weight gain.
Insomnia or hypersomnia (excessive sleeping) nearly every day.
Restlessness or lethargy nearly every day.

The Ethics Of Business Ethics In Industrial Relations
Business Ethics in Industrial Relations
ABSTRACT
Industrial relations study has generally revolved around institutions of workplace governance, and
their effect on the interests of different parties, supplemented on occasion by concern for employee
voice. Business ethics has focused on individuals actions and on policies or rules that ought to
apply to them, but has neglected workplace institutions. Between the two areas there is a gap,
where studies about institutions of workplace governance fail to deal with issues of ethics at work
and where studies of business ethics neglect institutional arrangements. Attempts to bridge the gap
do not seem to have considered the effects which institutions have on individuals as ethical decision
makers, and the way that arrangements like incentive structures or effi ciency requirements can
place individuals in ethical dilemmas or encourage them to ignore ethics entirely. In the design of
workplace institutions, consideration needs to be given not only to the ... Show more content on

Analyzing Alyss The Looking Glass Wars
In Frank BeddorЕ› The Looking Glass Wars, the story of Alice in Wonderland has a little bit of a
twist on it. Beddor changes the story and makes it from AlyssВґ perspective. Alyss is the princess
of Wonderland, and was obligated to leave the/her queendom when her vicious Aunt Redd tries to
overthrow her. She then, out of the blue finds herself all alone in the huge country of England.
Finally, Alyss returns to the queendom and redeemed her throne as princess. This novel has many
important themes throughout it. As an example, making sacrifices for love is distinct in the
actions of Alyss. She sacrifices her family, home, herself and even her memories. A character in
the novel that sacrifices is Alyss. She sacrifices her family, home, herself and even her memories.

The Subsidence Levels Of Land Renewal Performed By Marshes
reach pre subsidence levels in 60 years. To put this in more manageable terms, the rate of land
renewal performed by marshes has the capacity to significantly alter the landscape in subsidized
areas in less than the span of a human life. A few caveats to this approach include the use of the
land as a marsh. Since the land is turned into a marsh, the land cannot be used for agriculture or
for human development such as buildings or transportation infrastructure. This serves as a major
social drawback, as the human population continues to expand, people need land for living space
and arable land for farming purposes. In addition, as the marsh deposits more peat material, there
is a chance that the weight of the material being formed in the marsh will eventually cause
primary subsidence in the material below it. This would effectively reduce the rate of land
renewal and could increase the amount of time required to raise the elevation of a given plot of
land to pre subsidence levels. Also since the peat produced from the test marshes is similar to the
existing peat there is a great possibility that the cycle may repeat itself. After a marsh has been used
to raise the elevation of the land, the opportunity to cause subsidence in the new organic material
would still exist. For these reasons, the use of marshes to counteract subsistence of marshland is not
the best solution, but a solution nonetheless.

In a different study, the rate of subsidence in a

Billfish
The general term billfish describes a number of species of long, predatory fish characterized by
long, sword like bills. It includes sailfish and swordfish. They are generally exploited for both
food and game. Swordfish, in particular, are prized for their firm, tasty flesh. While the long beaks
have been observed in anger to spear objects such as small boats, their main function is to stun prey.
Different Lures For Blue Marlin
Artificial lures, live and natural bait have all been successfully employed to capture the blue
marlin. The most popular technique seems to be artificial lure fishing, which was developed in
Hawaii. Among the earliest artificial lures were chrome towel rails tied with strips of rubber taken
from inner tubes. Four or more such lures are fastened together and trolled behind boats at speeds
of between 7 and 15 knots.

Liberalism Is A Political World View
Liberalism is a political world view which was founded on the ideas of liberty, which
economically means that the government should not try to control rents, wages and to control
prices but to instead let open competition and forces of demand and supply create an equilibrium.
Politically the concept is that preservation of individual liberty and maximization of freedom
should be the main aim of the government. Liberalism states that all individuals should be equal
before the law, no special privileges for those higher up in society. Liberalism is a political and/or
social philosophy promoting the freedom of individuals in a society, parliamentary systems of
government, promotes the nonviolent change of social, economic or political institutions to ensure
that it is not restricted in the development of all spheres in human efforts and the reassurance of
individual human rights. There are two main principles of liberalism, individualism and liberty. It
places the individual at the center of society and argues that the highest social order is to be built
around the individual. The purpose of society is to let the individuals to be able to reach their full
potential if that individual wants to, and to do this, is to give the individual as much liberty as
possible to reach their goal.

The Main Themes Of The Supernatural In Christopher Faustus
In this play we see the occult and supernatural throughout the whole play as this is one of the main
themes that is focused upon. The use of the supernatural and occult is very negative as Christopher
Marlowe uses them in various ways.
In the first scene Faustus has decided to study dark magic as it s the most benefiting subject to
study. Faustus s wants can be seen as selfish as he s attracted to the idea of having power, of
honour, of omnipotence which can be acquired through dark magic. The use of tripling gets
across his wants and makes them more memorable so that the audience can remember the
reasons as to why faustus turned to magic and thus prevent themselves from following his path.
Faustus s character can be linked to the Renaissance period which leads us to label him as a
Renaissance man which is an idea that s talked about by John Butcher the editor of Doctor
Faustus by Longman literature. This idea is further implied as Faustus wants to go beyond the
knowledge he knows to become a God which he thinks he can achieve by doing magic as he
thinks that A sound magician is a demi god which leads us to believe that being a mortal man is
not enough for him. A modern reader could argue that a magician is someone that uses tricks and
illusions rather than real magic whilst someone from this time period would interpret it a magician
as a witch/ wizard as someone that is damned and is following lucifer and doing bad deeds. The
idea of faustus wanting to become

Analysis Of The Movie Coal Miner s Daughter

of America. Much of the time, this picture does part of that job. It means a lot more to me than the

one film that tells of a woman s experience road to fame is Coal Miner s Daughter this film tells
the story of how Loretta Lynn became the the queen of country and does a wonderful job. It
shows the hardships and glories that come with being in the spotlight as well as the struggle of
maintaining a relationship with her husband and family. In able to tell a great story, it depends
on the work that is put into many of the aspects of film. If one person does not do their job
correctly, then the film may lack creatively. Parts of Coal Miner s Daughter that helped to make it
a great film are art direction, costumes, makeup, visual effects, sound design, editing, music, script,
performance, direction, scene analysis, and historical analysis. All these elements of the film
combined help make Coal Miner s Daughter an exceptional and intriguing film. If even one of
these elements of film were lacking the movie would suffer, but all components come together to
tell a story about a woman that changed the world of country music. In order for a film to be

Fried Green Tomatoes Quotes
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation,
conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. This famous
line, by Abraham Lincoln, highlights the fact that everyone is of equal value. On the other end of
the spectrum is the idea of discrimination. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop CafГ© was
written by Fannie Flagg, a well known American author. This novel takes place in the Deep South
and switches back and forth between the 1980s and the early 20th century, when discrimination
was rampant. Discrimination has two main definitions. Firstly it is defined as the ability to
recognize the difference between things that are of good quality and those that are not (Webster).
A second definition is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from
other people or groups of people (Webster). The latter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Water Crisis Impact in California
Due to the lack of rain in the past few years, and particularly in the last few months, California faces
severe drought. This is the worst drought in more than one hundred years. The impact of California
drought affects community, agriculture, organic ranchers, and dairy farmers. Because of these
facts, the United States must rethink the way it uses water. Californians alone are asked to reduce
their water usage by twenty percent to prevent water waste.

Economists at the University of California, Davis said that agriculture, once a $44 billion annual
business in California, will suffer a financial hit of $2.2 billion due to revenue losses and higher
water costs (Associated Press, 2014). Many farmers are going out of business because the
production costs have increased with rising inflation, while revenue has decreased. Others have
reduced their farmland plantations which decreases the crop production. Some of the affected
crops include oranges, pistachios and rice. One example of how this affects the nation is the
California almonds. California [is] the source of eighty percent of the world s almonds
(Bloomberg, 2014). This year farmers had to come up with new tactics to rescue the nut from
drought by diverting the water used for vegetables and drilling more water wells to keep the trees
hydrated (Bloomberg, 2014). Farmers are not the only group of workers affected by the drought.
Organic ranchers and dairy farmers in California also feel the effects of the drought. They rely on
green pasture to feed their animals a healthy diet. Due to the lack of rain, the pasture are drying up
and the ranchers have to purchase supplemental organic hay from other states. In an attempt to fund
the purchasing of this out of state hay, the organic farmers are selling herds to businesses for
hamburger meat and the small

An Overview Of Parkinson Disease
An Overview of Parkinson Disease Parkinson disease (PD) is a condition consisting of many
unanswered questions. What causes it? Is it a genetic disorder? How will an individual know if
they will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime? The list of enquiries one might present is endless.
However, before even attempting to answer any questions, it is essential to understand the
disease as a whole. In order to do so, grasping basic background information as well as data on PD
is necessary. Following that, discussing material regarding the science behind the disease will
provide a deeper understanding when examining the subsequent etiologies, signs, and symptoms.
From a historical perspective, PD was first described in 1817 by James... Show more content on

In order to understand the possible etiology and the signs and symptoms, it is important to first
recognize the science of PD and what happens neurologically. Nolden, Tartavoulle, and Porche
(2014) explain that the brain structures affected by the disease are known as the substantia nigra
and the basal ganglia. The role of the basal ganglia is to provide control of fine motor
movements. What happens with PD, is there is a loss of dopamine producing neurons from the
substantia nigra which causes a deficiency in dopamine levels. Without a sufficient amount of
dopamine, there are not enough chemical messages being transmitted to initiate, control, and
balance movement of the target muscles. It is worth noting though, that dopamine levels
decrease naturally as one ages, so symptoms could become more aggressive and prevalent the
older an individual gets. Fallon et al. (2015) explains that the dying cells contain Lewy bodies,
defined as protein aggregates, which allow the disease to be identified. However, it is still
undetermined what all factors cause the degeneration of those brain cells and PD as a whole. PD
is a disease of mostly unknown etiology; however, there have been links to various factors from
environmental influences to genetics (Galifianakis Ghazinouri, 2014). First of all, it is necessary to
mention that the suspected environmental factors are hard to come by for they are merely risk
factors. Nonetheless, they are still important to

Hijacked by Pinterest
Really? Not again. I ve been hijacked. I ve just spent three hours on Pinterest searching for a new
recipe for dinner. I don t know if I should be ashamed or excited. I did find a pretty amazing
recipe for roasted red pepper Alfredo though. However, I did just lose three hours of my time. I
could of finished various tasks in those three hours. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart
technology is making me dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things:
phone books, directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I
believe smart technology will hijack our lives.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example, smart technology
can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls, balancing a bank account, paying
bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting directions, etc. Many people take advantage of
this. They may use their laptop, iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll
admit it, I have a favorite app myself. Pinterest! I ll lose hours on end getting lost in the app.

Memories Of Ali s Success
I believe that memories help people in their effort to learn from the past and succeed in the
present. Sports is one popular example of learning from your mistakes from the past and
improving yourself afterwards. Muhammad Ali once said, I hated every minute of training, but
I said, Don t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. These were the exact
words from a former heavyweight champion boxer and also one of the greatest sporting figures of
the 20th century. This legendary hall of famer had fifty six wins, five losses, and thirty seven
knockouts. Another all time great sports figure that showed great success off of fixing their
mistakes from the past was Michael Jordan. Now, although he s achieved so many goals

Flight Operations Into Known Icing
Flight Operations into Known Icing

Abstract
During this research paper we will be looking into the definition of flight into known icing as it s
described by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with special emphasis on the word known
or forecasted icing as a legal requirement for both pilots and aircraft. We will look at aircraft
systems designed for such operations and we will be analyzing the misunderstanding that many
pilots have about this issue. One of the biggest misconceptions is that an aircraft equipped with
deicing equipment makes it rated for known icing conditions. We will briefly look at the regulations
on aircraft certifications and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will be focusing more on airborne anti icing as part of Aircrafts rating for flight and the
known icing conditions as defined by the FAA. While ground removal of ice is not the focus FAR
135.227 and FAR 91.527 state.
No pilot may take off an aircraft that has frost, ice, or snow adhering to any rotor blade, propeller,
windshield, stabilizing or control surface; to a power plant installation; or to an airspeed, altimeter,
rate of climb, flight attitude instrument system, or wing, except that takeoffs may be made with
frost under the wing in the area of the fuel tanks if authorized by the FAA. (FAR, 2016)
There are always exceptions to this rule including meeting training requirements of FAR 135.341
and meeting additional criteria outlined in FAR 135.227.
There are several deferent types of ground de icing including manual removal and the use of
chemicals or solutions (some heated) to remove ice and snow or preventing ice buildup on the
aircraft during the takeoff phase of flight. This is only to protect the aircraft until the aircrafts own
anti icing equipment can become effective. Some good sources for ground deicing processes and
procedures can be found in Aeronautics Information Manual (AIM) under section 7 5 14. As well
as the FAA s Standardized International Aircraft Ground Deice Program (SIAGDP) (2010).
Defining Icing Conditions The definition of known icing conditions can be found in the (AIM, 7 1

Metaphors In The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle a renowned novelist, a distinguished physician, and a celebrated figure of
the nineteenth century literary world. Best known for his written works The Adventures of
Sherlock Holmes , and The Hound of the Baskervilles , Doyle was a prominent author during his
lifetime and generations to follow. His science fiction and fantasy novels served as the framework
for future written works concerning crime fiction. Additionally, Doyle contributed commendably to
the collection of playwrights, poetry, and historical novels.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 22 of 1859 to a prosperous family with nine children, Doyle
became known for his intelligence and ambition. From the start of his life, Doyle was exposed to

After reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles it was clear
that unlike many authors of his day, Doyle effectively used metaphors and figures of speech to
engage the reader and keep them immersed in the text. In his novel, The Hound of Baskervilles
, Doyle adds A dabbler in science, Mr. Holmes, a picker up of shells on the shores of the great
unknown ocean (Doyle Hound 9). The metaphorical rhetoric in this sentence allows the reader to
imply that Sherlock Holmes gains knowledge through each small bit of information. It is this
technique that makes Doyle s work much more appealing to a larger audience. According to
Gale Virtual Library s The Hound of the Baskervilles, Critic Donald J. Watt summarizes the story
as a ripping good yarn, which is related by means of some astutely manipulated conventional
literary devices ... [including] structure, mood, and metaphor (Howard GALE Novels for
Students ). Watt analyzes that Doyle s heavy use of literary devices could have been influenced
by spiritualism, which is safe to assume considering Doyle s relations with philosophy. Gothic
undertones, and the influence of the strict Victorian era enhances a lurid mood in some of Doyle s
stories (Howard GALE Novels for Students ). His overall pleasurable use of metaphor, simile,
suspense, and foreshadowing have contributed greatly to the excellent development of his plot lines

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Analysis
Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote the The Charge of the Light Brigade on December 2nd, 1854, and it
was then published on December 9th. This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of
Balaklava, between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian forces (Connors 3). Alfred
Lord Tennyson wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with
Biblical allusions. Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King
James Version of the Bible. This discovery spurs the question of whether AlfredLord Tennyson was
directly influenced by the Psalm, and if so, in what way?
The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the
decisive and devastating Battle of Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the
overall commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light Brigade to follow but not to
attack the Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then
one of the commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered
the troops to seize the Russian guns as he gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop
redoubts and the adjacent valley (Connors 2). The troops, confused by this order, followed their
leader into battle since they knew it was not their place to argue. The ensuing battle led to the death
of half of the Light Brigade (Connors 2). Due to this tragic event, the British people

Understanding Spinal Cord Injuries Essay examples
Understanding Spinal Cord Injuries
Spinal cord injuries can be very devastating. First we will discuss the spinal cord s structure and
function. Then we will tell you how the spinal cord is most commonly injured, along with some
statistics involved and some signs of spinal cord injury. We will explain some changes to the body
after spinal injuries. Finally we will talk about some of the research in helping spinal cord injury
victims. The spinal cord is the final common pathway from the brain to the muscles. It controls all
the sensory inputs received from different locations throughout the body. The spinal cord also
controls voluntary muscle responses. Some elementary reflexes are local to the spinal cord, but

Nerves from each segment of the spinal cord connect to specific regions of the body. The
cervical region or neck are referred to as C1 through C8; they control signals to the neck, arms,
and hands. The segments in thoracic or upper back region T1 through T12 relay signals to the
torso and some parts of the arms. The segments in the upper lumbar or mid back region just
below the ribs, L1 through L5, control signals to the hips and legs. Last, the sacral segments S1
through S5 lie just below the lumbar segments in the mid back and control signals to the groin,
toes, and some parts of the legs. The effects of spinal cord injury at different segments reflect this
organization.(SC Basic Anatomy of Spine http://www.goes.com/billr/html

blow to the head or a fall; by traffic accidents, sports injuries, or violence. The consequences
depend on the amount of damage the cord sustains and where the damage occurs. Although spinal
injuries are only a small fraction of all injuries; accidents cause an estimated 10,000 spinal cord
injuries each year. Each year, more than two million Americans suffer a

The World Of The Third World
The Third World as a political project emerged out of Cold War rhetoric. It referred to a group of
non aligned countries that claimed to operate separately from the influences of the great powers.
The movement represented the emergence of the Third World as a self conscious political
grouping. Solidarity was predicated upon common economic structures that were distinctive from
both the Eastern block planned economies and the Western free market system (Smith, n.d: 17).
The Third Worldas a political project was intrinsically linked to decolonization. Developing nations
were encouraged to stand against Western intervention and involvement in the economic affairs of
the Third World (Smith, n.d: 17). In addition, the project aimed to establish a new international
economic order in which developing countries would have greater control over their own natural
resources (Smith, n.d: 18). It also called for more cooperation in the third world in order to lessen
their dependence on leading institutional forums. As one of the most influential proponents of the
Third World Project, Jawaharlal Nehru specifically worked to promote ideas of global
interconnectedness, world peace and non alignment. Yet despite efforts to uplift the Third World
from its peripheral status, evidence of Western superiority discourse was still present in the
language used by Nehru and other elites. Furthermore, while elites championed Third World
principles in word, they generally remained tied to their

Once the undisputed leader in the luxury car market, Mercedes Benz India (MBIL) is currently
facing stiff competition from its aggressive rivals BMW and Audi. Bernhard Kern, who recently
took over as the chief of MBIL, points out that it also reflects the absence of Mercedes cars in some
segments, unlike its peers. I have a very different picture (of the rankings) because in the saloon

There are some gaps but we will close the gap, says Kern. The A class and diesel version of the B

market.
Given the challenges and opportunities in India, 49 year old Kern, a 30 year Mercedes veteran,

The Prince Of Tides By Pat Conroy
The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy is a compelling narrative in which an ordinary southern South
Carolina family, the Wingos, experience extraordinary circumstances deeply rooted in the canticles
of childhood affliction. It is a narrative of survival; survival of familial bonds, mortality, and
unaffected lovewhen the Wingo parents, Lila and Henry Wingo, thoughtlessly wreak havoc on the
fragile lives of their children: Tom, Luke, and Savannah Wingo. It is a story of sand dollars, marsh
tides, shrimp, marsh hens, meandering boats through the salt marshof Colleton, and everything the
South Carolina sun imprints upon permanently. Most importantly, The Prince of Tides is the story
of Tom Wingo, a white Southern male, who represses his past until he reconciles with the
wreckage he abandons in the salt marshes and consequently, liberates himself from his internal
affliction. Tom Wingo lives on Sullivans Island, South Carolina the sanctuary in which he neglects
his past with his three daughters and his wife, Sallie; however, their family dynamics do not
replicate those of the archetypal Southern family. For one, Tom takes care of the domestic affairs
while Sallie brings home the money as she divulges into the disciplined study of medicine. In the
1980s, the domestic Southern Belle and hard working, sexist, racist male were prevalent in the
distinct culture of the South (Conlee 4). It is evident Tom adores his daughters, but the translation
of his love comes in subtle

AN OVERVIEW OF CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR
Dr. Iheanyi C. Achuma: When we look into the market place, it is not always easy to tell what is
happening, let alone why. It is easy for consumer to get lost among all the complex inter relations of
the market.
As the leisure time becomes more important, the society getting more dynamic and unpredictable,
attitude towards work, goods and services change, the word consumption itself is being
reinterpreted. It is enough to see chills running up and down the procedures of goods and services.
The shock waves that originate with product failures or dissatisfied consumers is ill wind that does
nobody any good. The effects of such shock waves are bound to radiate throughout the entire
economy and society.
The question then is can t this situation be avoided or controlled? The answer is fairly simple but
economically important. Consumption is a fundamental part of every economic and social system
and changes in consumer behavior have varying implications for the whole society. Consumption
patterns reflect the personality of the individual. Fundamental institutions are not left out because a
great deal of consumption takes place through the family. Consumption and society are related in
some other ways too. Consumption is in part culturally determined and thus can be held up as a
mirror of society. The things

The Pros And Cons Of The Plain Teght Doctrine
The plain view doctrine is an exception to the search warrant requirements that allows police
officers to seize evidence, without a search warrant, that they recognize as contraband or used in
a criminal activity that is seen in plain view without having to enter the property or perform a
search. In addition, a corollary to the plain sight doctrine is the plain smell doctrine, that allows
if an officer smells evidence (e.g. marijuana), the officer meets the probable cause requirement to
initiate a warrantless search (Lemons, n.d.). For example, an officer pulls over to assist a
stranded motorist and observes in the front console of the vehicle a large bag of pills. This meets
the probable cause requirement for the officer to perform a search of the vehicle. There are three
main requirements which must be satisfied in order for the plain sight exception to be valid. Based
on Horton v. California, 496 U.S. 128 (1990) the first requirement is the police officer must have a
lawful presence in the area where the evidence was observed, which does not violate the Fourth
Amendment constitutional guaranty. The second requirement is the officer must be able to
observe the evidence by plain view or smell. Finally, the third requirement is the officer must
immediately recognize the evidence or contraband, which was accidental or inadvertent, without
making any further intrusion (Ryan, 2017). When evidence is found initially during or a s

Similarities Between Edith Wharton And Booker T Washington
Social Realism Social realism was a movement following the civil war where artists and writers
would focus and point out the conditions of the middle to lower working class. Unlike Regional
realism, social realism draws attention to the social structures and conditions that the majority of
the population was currently experiencing. Edith Wharton and Booker T Washington where two
important writers who wrote about their own experiences and of others to demonstrate the new
social structure changes at this time. The short story The Other Two by Edith Wharton is an
excellent representation of gender relation transformations and the nature of marriage at the turn
of the century. In the beginning of the story, we are introduced to a woman named Alice, whom
has been divorced 2 times and is currently on her 3rd marriage with a man named Mr. Waythorn.
Mr. Waythorn is happy with his new wife and is not bothered by the fact that she has already been

The Fundamental Concepts Behind Signal Processing
A signal is a time dependent, numerical representation of events in the physical world. In typical
applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must
be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a
mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing
exist, including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral
analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is
typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the
calculations. However, the fundamental concepts behind signal processing... Show more content on

Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided
into a finite number of frequency ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function
is needed to represent the signal for each subdivision of the sampling frequency. If the sampled
data is represented by a vector, it can be written as a linear combination of two vectors, each
composed of the appropriate sinusoidal entries. Let bо‚ m contain the cosine entries at frequency
subdivision m, and cо‚ contain the sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[bо‚ о‚‹ bо‚ ] ,
C=[cо‚ о‚‹ cо‚ ] , D=[B C] , and the columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the vector space V. It
can be shown that the columns of D are, in fact, an orthogonal basis because the dot product of
any two vectors in D is zero.
The signal о‚ sв€€V , and о‚ s=Bо‚ uо‚ѓCо‚ v . This can be rewritten as о‚ s=Dwо‚ where

The Scientific Theory Of Science And Technology
Science and technology is important to society and is often used in our everyday lives. We often
have no idea how science and technology really affect us. We work and live in a world driven by
technology and science. Science is crucial because it has helped form the world that we live in
today. Charles Robert Darwin was an English geologist and naturalist, best known for his significant
addition to the science of evolution. He had a theory that all species have inherited traits over time
from common ancestors, and in a partnership with Alfred Russel Wallace introduced his scientific
theory that this pattern of evolution resulted from an action that he called natural selection, in which
the struggle for existence has a similar effect to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the trip was to take a five year survey trip around the world Commanded by
Captain Robert FitzRoy. The voyage would prove the opportunity of a lifetime for the Charles
Robert Darwin.
The HMS Beagle set out on its voyage far and wide with Darwin on board on December 27, 1813.
Over the course of the excursion, Darwin recovered an assortment of characteristic examples,
including fossils, birds, and plants. Through extreme research, he had an exceptional opportunity to
watch the standards of topography, zoology, and natural science nearly. South America, The
Galapagos Archipelago, and The Pacific Island were of sure enthusiasm to Darwin. Charles Darwin
started to review his discoveries in the Diary of Examines, distributed as a component of Chief
FitzRoy s bigger report and later altered into the Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle, once
Darwin came back to Britain in 1836. The voyage enormously affected Darwin s perspective of
common history. He started to grow a significant hypothesis about the start of living creatures that
was inverse to the famous perspective of different naturalists at once.
Darwin s involvement with examples across the world brought up vital issues. Different
researchers trusted that all species either appeared toward the beginning of the world, or were made
after some time in natural history. In either case, the species were accepted to stay much the same
all through time. Darwin, saw similitudes among species

GONZALES v. CARHART, CHRISTINA GOTTFRIED, February 19, 2015, ISSUE #4
FACTS: in 1973 with the passing of Roe v. Wade, women were guaranteed, under a right to
privacy in which the woman has the right to choose whether or not to get an abortion, however,
this right was not confirmed to be absolute. Nearly 20 years later, in the case of Planned
Parenthood v. Casey, the central holdings of Roe v. Wadewere reaffirmed, by providing limits in
which federal and state governments can regulate abortion. Unfortunately, conflict arose between
Casey and Roe, when trying to ensure the woman still has a right to choose, which lead to
allowing a prohibition of late term abortions, unless the health of the mother was at stake. Next, in
2000, the case of Stenberg v. Carhart forced the court to consider a Nebraska state law that was
passed banning late term abortions and whether the statute was unconstitutional, which it was found
to be, because the statute did not include an exception for the health of the mother and that the
language used was so broad that it burdened a woman s right to choose. Then, in 2007, the case of
Gonzales v. Carhart raised the issue once again on a federal law that had been passed, the Partial
Birth Ban Act of 2003. The lower courts claimed it to be unconstitutional because of the lack of
exception for the health of the mother. This Act however, was found to be constitutional and The
Supreme Court decided to look once again at the precedent, under stare decisis

The Beatles Influence On America
Billy Joel once said, The Beatles were the band that made me realize it was possible to make a
living as a musician, ... When I heard the Beatles, I said, That s what I want to do! (Quotes 2).
Billy Joel expresses how he, and other musicians felt towards the British Invasion, and one of the
bands leading the invasion were The Beatles. In the early to mid 1960 s The Beatles ruled the music
charts in a phenomenon only known as Beatlemania. After 1966 a new Beatle style was born, one
that defied the standards that they originally set. The Beatles revolutionized music, society, and
created a paragon for future musicians to follow. The Beatles were important figures in American
History because the changed the standards of music and influenced society into new, deeper ways
of thinking and interpreting music.

John Lennon led a troubled childhood but found his comfort and place in a band he led called The
Quarrymen. Paul McCartney met Lennon during a concert at St. Peter s Church in Woolton,
Liverpool. Paul asked to join the band as he also knew how to play guitar. John was impressed
that Paul knew more than three chords and how to tune a guitar, while Paul was impressed at
John s energetic performance skills. Paul knew a lead guitarist from school who he met on the
school bus, George Harrison. The band consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George
Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe, and drummer Pete Best. The band was successful in and around
Liverpool and went to Hamburg, Germany to play in nightclubs, as many other bands did. Then
known as The Beatles, the band played night after night in German clubs. Eventually the band
was selected to play on Tony Sheridan s My Bonnie. More and more requests came to the North

Nantucket Nectars Case Study
Nantucket Nectars Juice Guys Bottle Formula for Success With Quality Ingredients The island of
Nantucket is known for its entrepreneurial spirit. Tom Scott and Tom First caught that fever nine
years ago when they started peddling Nantucket Nectars in the island s harbor. Now the self
proclaimed juice guys hold the number two spot in the New Age beverage market. To say the juice
guys started their company, Nantucket Nectars, on a shoestring budget would be an
understatement. The two Toms built a multi million dollar company with an initial investment
limited to a $170 bottle cap hand press, recycled bottles and an assortment of fruit. They had no

They re motto: Ain t nothing them boys won t do. The young business owners shampooed their
share of dogs and cleaned a good number of boats to keep their dream alive. More than alive,
Allserve would thrive and expand to include two more boats in its fleet that summer. When the
busy season ended, it was time for the boys to return to Brown and complete their education.
Little did they know they were on the brink of discovering a multi million dollar business with
only a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a modest amount of money and a recipe for success. They
could not know it then, but Allserve would lead them to the first channel of distribution for their
future juice business. After graduating college, the two returned to the island of Nantucket to
pick up where they left off with Allserve. But they knew once the season ended, the winter
months would be challenging at best. We were looking for ways to make our business year
round, and we were involved in a lot of different things. We were involved in the scallop industry,
storing boats in the winter, servicing engines. We even distributed bread, explains First. Only a
brave few people dared to endure the slow winter months on the island, but those who did had to
stick together. Cook offs were common on many nights, where Nantucket natives gathered to show
off their culinary skills. First would bring the juice. This was not just any juice, but a special

The Examination Of The Prosecution Witness
Dear James Blackburn, thank you for contacting me with your case. As an expert witness, I am
more than happy to assist you in the examination of the prosecution witness evidence and account
of the incident. Firstly, we must consider any confounding factors that may have influenced the
witness memory and therefore influencing their testimony. Some factors we must consider are;
cross raceeffect (CRE), weapon focus effect, own age bias (OAB) and the bystander effect. I will
attempt to aid you in this case by referring to information and knowledge that has been provided
and highlighted by previous research. These factors must be deliberated in regards to the validity
and credibility of the witnesss statement. Nonetheless, I will provide as much information I can to
help with your client s case.
Issue: Cross race effect
Fact: The witness is Black and the client is Caucasian.
Opinion: The cross race effect, otherwise referred to as own race bias explains why people are
more likely to recognise someone who is the same race as them. In this case, the witness may have
misinterpreted the scene as a result of this effect. For example, the criminal justice system regularly
relies on eyewitness identification when a crime has been committed (Sporer, 2001). Eyewitness
identification is still used despite the common difficulties eyewitnesses have recognising faces of
racial outgroup members. In your client s case, a black witness, and a white out group. These
recognition errors

The Use Of Metaphors In Martial Arts
There is an oft used metaphor about learning and becoming stronger that is used in the martial
arts, but I have heard it in many other venues as well. It tells of how steel becomes stronger as
you fold it with other materials to create layers that build strength and flexibility in the blade.
Folded, fired, and hammered up to 16 times a samurai s blade was formed through a difficult and
stressful process by a master craftsman. Ultimately what is formed is a strong blade able to meet
any challenge and conquer them successfully. I often like sharing this metaphor because it is a
great object lesson about how to use life s difficult moments to make us stronger.

Film Analysis Of Gleaming The Cube
Oof. What happened? This episode starts well enough, with Cooper hitting the alarm and
immediately reaching for the tape recorder. Even if the show had never actually featured this
scene it would be pretty easy to guess that that was how he started his day. It also has a neat little
directorial flourish in the same scene, with Coop hanging upside down and finally spotting Audrey
s letter. That kind of touch is why you bring in the director of Gleaming The Cube, isn t it?
Okay, that was a cheap shot at director Graeme Cliffordwho, prior to this episode (and Gleaming
The Cube) directed the well received Frances Farmer biopic Frances and provided the tricky editing

It feels too much like television.
Grade: C+
Episode 13
Now that s more like it. Dismissing the b team, Harley Peyton and Robert Engels turn in a script
that Lesli Linka Glatter directs in full Twin Peaks style. Super Nadine s still around and Van
Dohlen s still overemoting but it all fits together much better. Could the set presence of the
occasional character actor playing Gordon Cole have made a difference? Who s to say?
But there s definitely improvement between the last episode and this one, which wrings more
drama from a muted confrontation between Cooper and Horne over Audrey s semi conscious body
than the last episode got out of some hardcore undercover police action and Blackie s unexpected
murder. Cooper s scenes with Horne bristle with tension and MacLachlan is in particularly fine
form this time out, whether lamenting past mistakes or helping to conduct the weird, episode
ending chemically induced sГ©ance.
More on that in a bit. But first, some farewells. Josie says goodbye to both Horne and Truman,
showing her dark side in one scene and her good side in the next. Is she just posing when she s
with Truman or has he unwittingly made her a better person? I ve never really gotten a handle
on the character and I m not sure if that s my fault or the shows. Or if it s a fault at all.

Harry Markowitz Theory Of Finance Theory
Markowitz was hardly the first to consider the desirability of diversification.
Harry Max Markowitz this is one of the founders of the theory of finance, the fastest growing
economic sciences. This lays the foundation for the applied financial management in a company,
using the tools and methods of investigation with a help of which any company can analyze its
financial position, to assess the value of its capital and its structure, to select the best investment
project and to manage it or to decide how and how many shares or bonds to issue.

However, Markowitz portfolio allocation theory is highly criticised, because the final portfolios are
not adequately diversified. This model was applied to a South African market, so that it gives
unrealistic portfolios, that are not diversified enough, as portfolio managers noticed (McLeod
(1998).
It was also discovered in a Bowen article, that Markowitz allocation portfolio theory requires a
large data volume and pointed out on the difficulty in covariance estimation. He doubted in the
reliability of the model predictions and deduced, that existed statistical barriers do not let an
average portfolio manager to use only this model in his day to day activities. (Bowen 1984:21)

despite its theoretical success because of 3 reasons:

Character Analysis Of Harry Potter
If you have never read the Harry Potter series by acclaimed novelist J.K. Rowling, then you are
missing out a thrilling story full of adventures and laughter, perfect for all ages (but mainly
children). Assuming you ve read the book at some point in your life (or seen the movie, if you
re one of those people), you would know all about the antagonist turned hero Severus Snape. He
held one of the most complex storylines, with a single chapter changing the view of almost
every reader. Almost , as in it didn t change mine. A little bit of background on this character: he s
a jerk for the first six books, bullying almost every one of his students, being a top supporter of the
evilest wizard, Voldemort, and (spoiler) killing one of the main characters in the sixth book. After
getting attacked by Voldemort s snake, he gives Harry Potterhis tears so Harry can see Snape s
memories (remember, it s a book about wizards). In the memories, it shows Snape s hard
childhood, wearing hand me down clothes and being teased while longing for a girl named Lily.
Ultimately, Lily marries James Potter, and together the two have Harry. Snape, fascinated with
dark magic, turns to the dark side . He spies on Dumbledore, the leader of those opposed to
Voldemort, and only switches sides upon learning of Voldemort s plans to kill Harry and possibly
Lily. Years later in the memories plays an encounter had with Dumbledore, where he admits to
caring for Harry and to having loved Lily Always , which

The microbe of the disease is a protozoa of the species Trypanasoma brucei. There are two types of the sleeping sickness that infects humans; Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense (T.b.r), and Trypanosoma brucei gambiense (T.b.g). Both are mainly transmitted by the bite of an infected tsetse fly and it is most common in rural areas. They are each named for the regions of Africa, where they were found historically. There are two stages: what happens in a person when they become affected, and what happened in the tsetse fly once it bites the human. In the human stages the tsetse fly takes a blood meal inside the host. They inject trypomastigotes and they transform into bloodstream trypomastigotes. They are carried to other areas of the body and reach other body fluids like lymph or blood. Then the blood stream trypomastigotes multiply by binary fission in the body fluid. While this happens in the body of the host, the tsetse fly stages begin. When the fly is taking the blood meal, the bloodstream trypomastigotes are ingested. They transform into procyclic trypomastigotes in the fly s midgut. The procyclic trypomastigotes multiply also by binary fission. Then they leave the midgut and transform again into epimastigotes. They continue to multiply by binary fission in the salivary glands of the tsetse fly. In the tsetse fly this cycle takes about three weeks to finish. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crisis communication usually has a variety of goals some of which conflict but the most important and universal it to reduce, and contain harm. My next step is calling all organization so they can identify the hazard they face, my first phone call would be the (MDCH) Michigan health community department, and then hopefully they will contact the (American Biological Safety Association). When a crisis began to brew as a communicator and a leader I wonder when to ask for help from the outside for instance public relations agency which might be beneficial to keep the problem from completely overwhelming the organization. This is why I have developed relationship with an agency in case I need them in emergency like this. • 6. Abnormal Psychology ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY: MOOD DISORDERS A mood disorder is the term given for a group of diagnoses in the DSM IV TR classification system where a disturbance in the person s emotional mood is hypothesised to be the main underlying feature. The classification is known as mood (affective) disorders in ICD 10. English psychiatrist Henry Maudsley proposed an overarching category of affective disorder. The term was then replaced by mood disorder, as the latter term refers to the underlying or longitudinal emotional state, whereas the former refers to the external expression observed by others. Physiological Symptoms: decreased need for sleep, accompanied by high levels of arousal. The energy and excitement these patients show may cause them to lose weight or to go without sleep for long periods. UNIPOLAR DISORDERS Depression without a history of mania In almost all countries, women are at least twice as likely as men to experience episodes of severe unipolar depression. Approximately half of people with unipolar depression recover within six weeks and 90% recover within a year, some without treatment (Kessler, 2002; Kendler et al., 1997). However, most of them have at least one other episode of depression later on their lives (Boland Keller, 2002). The DSM IV TR approach to classifying mood disorders recognizes several subtypes of depression, placing special emphasis on the distinction between unipolar and bipolar disorders. Diagnostic Criteria of Major Depressive Disorder A minimum of five of the following symptoms must be present for at least 2 weeks. Depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure must be one of them. Depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day. Diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities nearly every day. Significant weight loss or weight gain. Insomnia or hypersomnia (excessive sleeping) nearly every day. Restlessness or lethargy nearly every day. Frequent fatigue or loss of energy. Feelings of worthlessness or in appropriate guilt. The Ethics Of Business Ethics In Industrial Relations Business Ethics in Industrial Relations ABSTRACT Industrial relations study has generally revolved around institutions of workplace governance, and their effect on the interests of different parties, supplemented on occasion by concern for employee voice. Business ethics has focused on individuals actions and on policies or rules that ought to apply to them, but has neglected workplace institutions. Between the two areas there is a gap, where studies about institutions of workplace governance fail to deal with issues of ethics at work and where studies of business ethics neglect institutional arrangements. Attempts to bridge the gap do not seem to have considered the effects which institutions have on individuals as ethical decision makers, and the way that arrangements like incentive structures or efп¬Ѓ ciency requirements can place individuals in ethical dilemmas or encourage them to ignore ethics entirely. • 11. The Subsidence Levels Of Land Renewal Performed By Marshes reach pre subsidence levels in 60 years. To put this in more manageable terms, the rate of land renewal performed by marshes has the capacity to significantly alter the landscape in subsidized areas in less than the span of a human life. A few caveats to this approach include the use of the land as a marsh. Since the land is turned into a marsh, the land cannot be used for agriculture or for human development such as buildings or transportation infrastructure. This serves as a major social drawback, as the human population continues to expand, people need land for living space and arable land for farming purposes. In addition, as the marsh deposits more peat material, there is a chance that the weight of the material being formed in the marsh will eventually cause primary subsidence in the material below it. This would effectively reduce the rate of land renewal and could increase the amount of time required to raise the elevation of a given plot of land to pre subsidence levels. Also since the peat produced from the test marshes is similar to the existing peat there is a great possibility that the cycle may repeat itself. After a marsh has been used to raise the elevation of the land, the opportunity to cause subsidence in the new organic material would still exist. For these reasons, the use of marshes to counteract subsistence of marshland is not the best solution, but a solution nonetheless. Louisiana Marsh Case Study In a different study, the rate of subsidence in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Main Themes Of The Supernatural In Christopher Faustus In this play we see the occult and supernatural throughout the whole play as this is one of the main themes that is focused upon. The use of the supernatural and occult is very negative as Christopher Marlowe uses them in various ways. In the first scene Faustus has decided to study dark magic as it s the most benefiting subject to study. Faustus s wants can be seen as selfish as he s attracted to the idea of having power, of honour, of omnipotence which can be acquired through dark magic. The use of tripling gets across his wants and makes them more memorable so that the audience can remember the reasons as to why faustus turned to magic and thus prevent themselves from following his path. Faustus s character can be linked to the Renaissance period which leads us to label him as a Renaissance man which is an idea that s talked about by John Butcher the editor of Doctor Faustus by Longman literature. This idea is further implied as Faustus wants to go beyond the knowledge he knows to become a God which he thinks he can achieve by doing magic as he thinks that A sound magician is a demi god which leads us to believe that being a mortal man is not enough for him. A modern reader could argue that a magician is someone that uses tricks and illusions rather than real magic whilst someone from this time period would interpret it a magician as a witch/ wizard as someone that is damned and is following lucifer and doing bad deeds. In order to understand the possible etiology and the signs and symptoms, it is important to first recognize the science of PD and what happens neurologically. Nolden, Tartavoulle, and Porche (2014) explain that the brain structures affected by the disease are known as the substantia nigra and the basal ganglia. The role of the basal ganglia is to provide control of fine motor movements. What happens with PD, is there is a loss of dopamine producing neurons from the substantia nigra which causes a deficiency in dopamine levels. Without a sufficient amount of dopamine, there are not enough chemical messages being transmitted to initiate, control, and balance movement of the target muscles. It is worth noting though, that dopamine levels decrease naturally as one ages, so symptoms could become more aggressive and prevalent the older an individual gets. Fallon et al. (2015) explains that the dying cells contain Lewy bodies, defined as protein aggregates, which allow the disease to be identified. However, it is still undetermined what all factors cause the degeneration of those brain cells and PD as a whole. PD is a disease of mostly unknown etiology; however, there have been links to various factors from environmental influences to genetics (Galifianakis Ghazinouri, 2014). This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of Balaklava, between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian forces (Connors 3). Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with Biblical allusions. Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the Bible. This discovery spurs the question of whether AlfredLord Tennyson was directly influenced by the Psalm, and if so, in what way? The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the decisive and devastating Battle of Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the overall commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light Brigade to follow but not to attack the Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then one of the commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered the troops to seize the Russian guns as he gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop redoubts and the adjacent valley (Connors 2). The troops, confused by this order, followed their leader into battle since they knew it was not their place to argue. The ensuing battle led to the death of half of the Light Brigade (Connors 2). It is easy for consumer to get lost among all the complex inter relations of the market. As the leisure time becomes more important, the society getting more dynamic and unpredictable, attitude towards work, goods and services change, the word consumption itself is being reinterpreted. It is enough to see chills running up and down the procedures of goods and services. The shock waves that originate with product failures or dissatisfied consumers is ill wind that does nobody any good. The effects of such shock waves are bound to radiate throughout the entire economy and society. The question then is can t this situation be avoided or controlled? The answer is fairly simple but economically important. Consumption is a fundamental part of every economic and social system and changes in consumer behavior have varying implications for the whole society. Consumption patterns reflect the personality of the individual. Fundamental institutions are not left out because a great deal of consumption takes place through the family. Consumption and society are related in some other ways too. Consumption is in part culturally determined and thus can be held up as a mirror of society. The things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of The Plain Teght Doctrine The plain view doctrine is an exception to the search warrant requirements that allows police officers to seize evidence, without a search warrant, that they recognize as contraband or used in a criminal activity that is seen in plain view without having to enter the property or perform a search. In addition, a corollary to the plain sight doctrine is the plain smell doctrine, that allows if an officer smells evidence (e.g. marijuana), the officer meets the probable cause requirement to initiate a warrantless search (Lemons, n.d.). For example, an officer pulls over to assist a stranded motorist and observes in the front console of the vehicle a large bag of pills. This meets the probable cause requirement for the officer to perform a search of the vehicle. There are three main requirements which must be satisfied in order for the plain sight exception to be valid. Based on Horton v. California, 496 U.S. 128 (1990) the first requirement is the police officer must have a lawful presence in the area where the evidence was observed, which does not violate the Fourth Amendment constitutional guaranty. The second requirement is the officer must be able to observe the evidence by plain view or smell. Finally, the third requirement is the officer must immediately recognize the evidence or contraband, which was accidental or inadvertent, without making any further intrusion (Ryan, 2017). • 41. The Fundamental Concepts Behind Signal Processing A signal is a time dependent, numerical representation of events in the physical world. In typical applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing exist, including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the calculations. However, the fundamental concepts behind signal processing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided into a finite number of frequency ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function is needed to represent the signal for each subdivision of the sampling frequency. If the sampled data is represented by a vector, it can be written as a linear combination of two vectors, each composed of the appropriate sinusoidal entries. Let bо‚ m contain the cosine entries at frequency subdivision m, and cо‚ contain the sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[bо‚ о‚‹ bо‚ ] , C=[cо‚ о‚‹ cо‚ ] , D=[B C] , and the columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the vector space V. It can be shown that the columns of D are, in fact, an orthogonal basis because the dot product of any two vectors in D is zero. The signal о‚ sв€€V , and о‚ s=Bо‚ uо‚ѓCо‚ v . We often have no idea how science and technology really affect us. We work and live in a world driven by technology and science. Charles Robert Darwin was an English geologist and naturalist, best known for his significant addition to the science of evolution. Wade, women were guaranteed, under a right to privacy in which the woman has the right to choose whether or not to get an abortion, however, this right was not confirmed to be absolute. Nearly 20 years later, in the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the central holdings of Roe v. Wadewere reaffirmed, by providing limits in which federal and state governments can regulate abortion. Unfortunately, conflict arose between Casey and Roe, when trying to ensure the woman still has a right to choose, which lead to allowing a prohibition of late term abortions, unless the health of the mother was at stake. Next, in 2000, the case of Stenberg v. Carhart forced the court to consider a Nebraska state law that was passed banning late term abortions and whether the statute was unconstitutional, which it was found to be, because the statute did not include an exception for the health of the mother and that the language used was so broad that it burdened a woman s right to choose. Then, in 2007, the case of Gonzales v. Carhart raised the issue once again on a federal law that had been passed, the Partial Birth Ban Act of 2003. The lower courts claimed it to be unconstitutional because of the lack of exception for the health of the mother. This Act however, was found to be constitutional and The Supreme Court decided to look once again at the precedent, under stare decisis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
