2. Violent Programs on Television Lead to Aggressive Behavior...
Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations
has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Conclusions deduced from this
data prove that violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children and
teenagers who watch those programs. Televisionviolenceaffects young people of all ages, all socio
economic levels, and all levels of intelligence.
Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death, killings,
torture, and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable youth. When children are
young, they are impressionable to all their surroundings, and especially vulnerable to what they see.

A particular focus of the study was the media s portrayal of violence and the public s personal
experiences. Television is the primary source of media for most American citizens, and therefore
television violence is the primary source for viewing violence in both adults and children. This
report gave evidence of the media s ability to socialize the viewers to the norms and values of the
culture. Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen
only as a re enforcer and not a creator.
Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure
to violence in the media that affects children. In his studies, children watched models perform
aggressive acts against a doll. These acts of aggression were presented under three circumstances:
1. the children saw the model rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model
receive no consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model punished.
All three groups were able to imitate the aggressive behavior that contradicts early notions that the
influences of violence were not negative if the violence was not glorified.
The Help or Hurt study done by Robert Liebert and Robert Baron, further displays the short term

3. Self Employment Income On Your Annual Income Tax
It can be to your advantage to claim your Self Employment income on your annual Income Tax
Return than popularly believed. Claiming an Earned income may be favorable to you and your
family. If your only job is your personal business, claiming the income on your tax return can
compensate your family now plus in the future. Filing properly can even assist someone else by
creating a paper trail for their claimed deduction. Your future retirement or even Social Security
disability benefits are influenced by the amount of money you earn, also.
To be eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, you must show you have taxable Earned
Income. This is on occasion incorrectly called Unearned Income Credit. People have viewed this
as government money given to families with children false. There are two ways to obtain taxable
Earned Income: you work for someone who pays you or you own or run a business or farm.
Taxable Earned Income includes wages, salaries, or tips, long term disability benefits prior to
retirement age, and net earnings from Self Employment. If you collect unemployment benefits or
child support, this is not considered taxable Earned Income; neither are retirement benefits, social
security, nor alimony (IRS, 2014).
In order to be eligible for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) you must either meet the rules for
workers without a qualifying child or have a child that meets all the qualifying child rules for you.
The tax credit can be seen as a bell curve.

5. The Novel Fifth Business
In the novel Fifth Business, women played an important role that impacted Dunstan emotionally
and spiritually. From a young age, Dunstan s mother, Mrs. Ramsay, placed fear and isolation in his
heart and was the reason he became emotionally distanced from women. He turned towards Mrs.
Dempster as she provided him the loveand affection that he wasn t able to receive from his mother.
She also sparked his interest in hagiography and to pursue his study in inner spirituality. As he
comes of age and meets Diana, she was able to introduce him to a new world while teaching him
new experiences. However, their relationship was short lived due to the treatment and mental
damage he received from his mother when he was younger. While women like Mrs. Ramsay
affected Dunstan negatively, others such as Diana and Mrs. Dempster were able to heal him and
provide a greater growth for Dunstan spiritually and emotionally.
Dunstan first got involved with Mrs. Dempster during the snowball incident where the snowball
aimed at him by the town bully instead hits the pregnant Mary Dempster, precipitating the
premature birth of her son and her descent into mental illness. (Bowers). Dunstan believed that
by moving out of the snowball s path, that he broke apart Mary Dempster s life and so he carries
this guilt for the rest of his life. By being caring towards Mrs. Dempster and helping her out in any
way possible, it was his way of repaying Percy s sins. Mrs. Dempster performed 3 miracles that

6. Servqual Model Analysis Essay
However, many researchers have argued to the limitation of SERVQUAL scale. For example,
Carman (1990) argued that the five dimensions should be specific for each industry and it should
not be general (Carman, 1990). Moreover, Fan Chan (2008) also pointed out that SERVQUAL five
dimensions cannot fully evaluate service quality of the hotel, and should be integrated with other
dimensions (Chen, 2008). This is consistent with the finding of Rooma Roshnee Ramsaran Fowdar
(2007) that hotel core service was not represented in SERVQUAL and therefore the five dimensions
cannot fully evaluated the service quality of hotel industry (Ramsaran Fowdar, 2007).

Pimol Sriwikrom (1999, page 6, cited in Suwimol Manjing, 2003, page 137) defined consumer
behavior as the action expressed by the consumer, including searching, choosing, using, assessing
such product, as well as the service that the consumer has received or deserve. Such action is
expected to satisfied consumer s needs.
Somjit Luancharoen (1995, no page number) gave the definition of consumer behavior as the
action of the individual directly relevant to receiving and using product and/or economic service.
This includes predetermination, which determines the actions. This can be separated into 3 aspects
as follows. 1) Action of each person: Each person acts in the aspect of consumer behavior, namely,
going to buy product, turning on radio and television, reading news, chatting with friends, inquiring
from the vendor, and others. 2) Receiving and using product and/or economic service: Every
consumer living nowadays must receive and use product or service. Receiving product and/or
service means buying the product. It also includes receiving product and/or service without direct
contact, for example, the baby receives clothes bought by its parents. 3) Decision process: Before
the consumer buys the product, he must go through the steps of decision making process, including
problem recognition, searching, assessing the choices and

7. Epigenetic Modifications on Histones
Epigenetic modifications on histones and DNA exercise precise regulation of gene expression, and
thus have a profound influence on cellular differentiation and function. The most widely studied
modification on DNA is 5 methylcytosine (5mC) that frequently occurs in a CpG dinucleotide
context. Initially, the de novo DNAmethyltransferase (Dnmt) enzymes Dnmt3a and 3b mediate the
transfer of the methyl group to cytosine, while the maintenance Dnmt1 ensures subsequent
propagation of this mark through cell replication cycles. Because of prominent roles in gene
repression, retro element silencing, X chromosome inactivation and gene imprinting, 5mC was
initially thought to be irreversible. Thanks to burgeoning evidence, it is now clear that the
methylcytosine can be removed through a number of mechanisms. Passive demethylation is
proposed to remove 5mC over several cell replication cycles, through exclusion of the maintenance
machinery from the replication fork. Active demethylation on the other hand constitutes removal of
5mC through enzymatic hydrolysis. The discovery of Ten Eleven Transclocation (TET)
dioxygenase proteins was revolutionary. The TET proteins catalyze hydroxylation of 5mC to
5hmC, and conversion of 5hmC to 5 carboxylcytosine and finally to 5 formylcytosine. These 5mC
derivatives enter the base excision repair pathway (BER), resulting in replacement of the
methylcytosine with an unmodified cytosine. Second, although the role of deaminases is debated,
these enzymes

Audre Lorde s essay on intersectionality highlights the point that there is not a single issue fight
because we do not live day to day with our single issue lives (Lorde, pg 654). Acknowledging that
we are beneath the dominant class is important to reconstruct the structural power. Intersectionality
requires power that fortifies how our differences come together on both an individual level an a
collective foundation. There are many issues we tend not to even look at because the women that it
affects usually have always been overlooked for the dominant groups oppressed world (Lorde, pg

response brings up the concept that Muslim women are childlike needing to be saved. An
intersectional translation of islamophobic misogyny. I believe this scene particularly highlights the
point that gender trumps religious faith and ethnicity. Johnson Reagon says that a coalition is not
a home and should not feel comfortable (Reagon, pg 259). This film debunks the myth that all
women share a common experience simply by being a female. (Reagon, pg 360). However,
when we see all women get together, we begin to see the differences between all of us including
race, sexuality, status, age, able ism, etc. I believe Pierre standing up for a man in this scene shows

The five themes are mission, manifest destiny, industrialization, imperialism, and race. Racism has
been an issue throughout American history. Only in recent years has the problem been resolved,
but even now there is still some issues. Some private groups are still against some races. Even
though slavery was abolished in 1865 by the thirteenth amendment, it declared that Neither slavery

He delivered the famous I Have a Dream speech in which he expanded American values to

orators in American history. He was then assassinated on April 4, 1968 in which is now a
holiday to where he will always be remembered for his great deeds in solving equality between
the blacks and whites. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 prohibited segregation and
discrimination in employment and other areas. The racism issues during this period of time,
caused lots of hate and crime. Fortunately during this period of time, slavery had already been
abolished but it took many years to completely have equal rights for all races. Organizations
have formed for anti racist and civil rights activism such as the NAACP, National Association of
the Advancement of Colored People, and other groups as well. Since America has the right of
freedom of speech, groups that are racist are allowed but if they involve any violence they will be
prosecuted for their actions. Throughout the years we have had more African Americans running

Application of Excess in Morrison s Sula and Ginsberg s Howl
In William Blake s Marriage of Heaven and Hell, he declares that the road of excess leads to the
palace of wisdom...Those who restrain desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be
restrained. These beliefs are reiterated and expanded upon in both Toni Morrison s novel Sula and
Allen Ginsberg s epic poem Howl. Both authors challenge the conception of socially imposed
boundaries, which suppress the absolute freedom of thought and action, by venerating the human
characteristic of excess. Instead of abiding by the social norms of the general cultural animosity
towards excess, Morrison and Ginsberg use this vilified attribute as a means to transcend the

This occurs when Sula overhears her mother confessing that although she loves her daughter, she
doesn t particularly like her. Only moments later Sula accidentally heaves Chicken Little into the
river where he drowns. These coupling of events deflate all the idealistic conceptions of trust and
reliance in the world that she once had: The first experience taught her there was no other that you
could count on; the second that there was no self to count on either. She had no center, no speck
around which to grow (118 119).
The traumatic consequences of these events stunt Sula s emotional maturation and understanding
at the raw age of twelve. From this moment on, her emotional wellbeing is solely restricted to
what she has learned from her family and immediate surroundings, with no chance of growth: Eva
s arrogance and Hannah s self indulgence merged in her and, with a twist that was all her own
imagination, she lived out her days exploring her own thoughts and emotions, giving them full
reign, feeling no obligation to please anybody unless their pleasure pleased her (118). This excess
in behavior is undeniably childlike in nature, which is due to the retardation of Sula s emotional
and social growth at such a young age.

conceptions of

The Idea that would start not only HP but all of Silicon Valleywas the subject of Bill Hewlett s

easier to operate, more accurate, and more portable than what was available at the time. The key
to this new oscillator was a small light bulb. By glowing brighter or dimmer the light bulb could

advantage over other companies. After more experimentation and testing Bill and Dave were

Burrhus Frederick Skinner, more commonly known as B.F Skinner, believed studying the mind,
the internal mental events, was never productive since the mind acted like a black box. For him,
more productive approach was seeing a direct behavior. He thought the best way to understand a
behavior was to look at the causes of an action and its consequences operant conditioning. Operant
conditioning dealt with operants like internal actions that could have effect on surrounding
environment. He then set out to identify the process that made certain operant behaviors more or

24. The One Where Monica Gets A Roommate Essay
Friendship plays a vital part in growing up and becoming an adult. Friendships guide people and
also shape them into the people they are. In this late 90s comedy, a group of six friends try to
navigate their lives while living in New York City. The show Friends shows the highs and the
lows of being an adult and trying to juggle love lives, work lives, and friendships. In The One
Where Monica Gets a Roommate , it starts the show off with Monica, Ross, Chandler, and
Phoebe all sitting down in a coffee house called Central Perk. Ross comes into the coffee house
feeling heartbroken as his ex wife grabs the last of her things from his apartment. Just as Ross says
that he wishes he were married again, Rachel walks in soaking wet in a wedding dress.... Show

The characters are like ordinary people who get rained on, like Rachel, and who get divorced,
like Ross. The imperfections are crucial because it brings in realism. In this episode, the viewers
see that Rachel is from a higher class and is used to having everything handed to her on a silver
platter. The rest of the group didn t come from families that are filthy rich, they always had to earn
what they got through hard work and determination. The morning after Rachel spends her first

25. Ebola In The Hot Zone
Introduction
In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are
a threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an
interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in
the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body.
Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to
safely help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical
professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to

Introduction:
Cellular respiration is an ATP producing catabolic process in which the ultimate electron acceptor

Cellular respiration involves glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain.

Anthology of World Literature, 5th Edition. Since this is a critical essay on a particular story, it

For example, the very fact that Daru has separated himself from society by taking the teaching post
in the desert demonstrates the idea of Individualism. He must free himself from the constraints of a
smo thering civilization by moving to a region which is completely open, bounded only by the
horizon and the sky. Camus wishes to show that only when a man realizes that he can be distinct
and separate from the whole of humanity is he capable of becoming whole within himself. The
forcing of the prisoner into Daru s care shows the unwanted and unrequested obligations which
governments thrust upon individuals. When
Balducci tells him that he must take the Arab to the prison in Tinguit, the teacher can hardly
believe the officer is telling him the truth.
After he realizes that the people in power expect him to follow their orders, Daru is almost Cain
like in his objection, The orders? I m not... I mean, that s not my job (1898). Certainly, such a
reply does remind the reader of Cain s reply to God after the murder of Abel: I am not my brother

It would be more appropriate to consider Daru as Seth, the new

elaborate, love brings a combination of emotions. This was shown by Shakespeare in Romeo and

35. The Settlements Of The Treaty Of Waitangi Essay
The Settlements of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The treaty of Waitangi is considered to be the founding document of the English and European
control and settlement in New Zealand. After the treaty s signing in 1840 it has played a huge role
in legal affairs and the treatment of both European New Zealanders and Maori New Zealanders.
Though there is dispute as to the correct or incorrect translation from English to Maori and vice
versa, the treaty has on the whole created a harmonious existence between the two cultures.
In 1832 after a plea for help and protection sent to the French and English by the Maori, the English
sent James Busby to be the British Resident in New Zealand, which would lead to the later
appointment of William Hobson as the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand. In 1834 James
Busby drafted a document known as the Declaration of Independence of New Zealand . This was
signed by himself and 35 Northern Maori chiefs in 1835 appointing those chiefs as the
representatives of a state under the name of the United Tribes of New Zealand . This document
was not popular in the Colonial Office in England and it seemed that a corrective document was
needed for New Zealand. This document ended up being the Treaty of Waitangi.
Hobsons instructions are the basis for all Waitangi Tribunal claims and settlements, the instructions
were issued to him by James Stephen of the Colonial office on behalf of Queen Victoria. The
instructions were as follows:

Literature Review According to (Agboola 2001) literature which I reviewed shows that it studied
the impact of computer automation on the banking services in Lagos and discovered that
Electronic Banking has been extremely enhanced over the year and this was ascertained through
the services of some banks to their customers in Lagos and how technological advancement has
made their banking experience much easy and faster. The study was however limited to the
commercial banks centered in Nigeria and only focused on only six banks. He also made a
comparative analysis which was between the old and new generation banks and he also discovered
some variation in the rate of adoption of information technology in the banking sector.
Secondly, Aragba Akpore (1998) wrote on the application of information technology in Nigerian
banks and pointed out how Information Technology is becoming the backbone and bedrock of
banking services in this generation. He cited the Diamond Integrated Banking Services (DIBS) of
Diamond Bank Limited and Electronic Smart Card Account (ESCA) of All States Bank Limited as
labors geared in the direction of making complexity in the banking sector. Ovia (2000) revealed that
the Nigeria banking industry has progressively depended on the distribution of Information
Technology and that the IT budget for banking industry is to an extent on a larger scale of any

The Bohemian Rhapsody from QUEEN was written in 1975, and re released in 1991. The
author was Freddie Mercury. This literary work is very interesting for me examined by
psychological approach. The entire text has a male centred structure, the dominant persona is
male. There are several names and characterizations such as poor boy , killed a man , Galileo . All
of these references show the dominant gender in the text. Although there is a less strong female
presence as well such as mama and mama mia .(The English studies book introduction to language,

dead. As a broad interpretation it explains his sickness, made with the wild life what he lived. He

his life is dangerously approaching to its end that he has just started now. He is feeling the
weight of his words. He starts to apologize for what he disbosom. He feels that this self

A Handful of Optimism
Despite race, religion, sex, or age the world can be divided into two different groups. Those who
see the glass as being half full and those who see the glass as being half empty. In other words,
being either that of an optimist or a pessimist. Though a simple question, often times people find it
difficult to answer. Just when one thinks they have decided that they are one or the other, they
come across a song, poem, or an experience that makes them reevaluate the mind frame from that
which they have normally embraced. T. S. Eliots famous quote from The Waste Land, I can show

For many Christians it is a verse found in the Bible that changed their fear of death to one of an
acceptance of death. For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not parish perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. The belief of having
eternal life is what keeps the fear of death at bay. Not only do Christians beliefs promote optimism,
but they encourage others to seek a similar level of self realization.
Nevertheless, some people are unaware and apathetic to the endless possibilities that life holds.
It is a woman in Eliot s poem that conveys the image of a person who is living, yet fails to see the
richness in her life. It is after the departure of her lover that she states, Well now that s done: and I
m glad it s over (3.252). Most would be overcome with joy and contentment at having just
completed, what is thought to be, one of the most intimate and cherished part of ones life. Not only
does she respond to this occasion with rigidness, in her previous comment, but Eliot proceeds to say
that She smoothes her hair with an automatic hand (3.255). Thus implicating the meaninglessness
and emptiness of her life. Not only does Eliot portray the pessimism with this woman but does so
in a broader sense when he writes:

explains the more financial aspect of prostitution in the lower class families. The daughters who
are sent off, as stated in the article, send the money home to their families so they are able to
care for the rest of the family. With prostituting being a highly grossing job its easy to see why
many of the girls offer themselves or the families offer them this lifestyle. In a 1997 study by the
Ministry of Public Health in Thailand, the sex sector of the South East countries relies greatly
on the gross income from prostitution for themselves and families. The government also
collects a lot of revenue from this business, from bribes, corruption, and fees from the places
where this is occurring Something that I found very interesting is that in Thailand men are
pushed to be promiscuous while women are supposed to stay virgins before marriage and
monogamous afterwards. Prostituting is very common for local people and visitors, girls as
young as seven are being sent out to men in need of sexual favors. Many of the men much older,
not caring about disease or common morals. For men this is considered a night out with friends

In addition to many pro arrest policies prosecutors have also played a central role to enhance
victim safety and ensure offender accountability by adopting mandatory prosecution policies in
domestic abuse cases (Finn, 2013). Most research has focused on mandatory arrest policies, few
studies have evaluated the effects of mandatory prosecution policies. These policies were first used
to describe the policies and actions that prosecutors often charged offenders with when evidence of
abuse existed, with or without the cooperation or support of the victim. Ford and Regoli (1993) had

Conductive hearing loss is when there is a problem with the ear canal, ear drum, or middle ear.
When there are problems in the middle ear it s from an issue with the ossicles (malleus, incus, and
stapes). There are several types of causes that can produce conductive hearing loss; deformation of
outer ear, ear canal, or middle ear, fluid in the middle ear, ear infection, allergies, bad Eustachian
tube function, perforated eardrum, benign tumors, impacted earwax, and Otosclerosis (Hearing
Loss Association of America). In any of these cases, conductive hearing loss affects the brainby not
allowing the inner ear transduce the sound waves into neural signals. The brain cannot receive
the signals because the stimulation of sound is being blocked or severely reduced by any of the
reasons given above. The brain is either receiving little to no neurological signals and the brain

44. Role Of Weather In The Great Gatsby
It s More Than Just Rain or Snow In reality the weather and environment play a part in how
people interact with one another and in some cases it can even influence a person s mood.
Therefore, weather also plays a similar role in literature as it does in reality. The only difference is
that in literature the significance of weatherimpacts the story more and has much sub contextual
meaning than what is just portrayed on the surface level. Within different stories different types
of weather can symbolize different things. In the novel, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald,
Fitzgerald uses fog to serve as a symbol for Gatsby s and Daisy s relationship. His choice for
using fog as a symbol of their relationship is because it obscures Gatsby s vision of the green light
on Daisy s house which, for Gatsby, it acts as a beacon letting him know where Daisy is. Also, it
