By Temi Ayadi created a music video for their A2 Media course on the genre of UK Rap. They had to create two ancillary tasks of a website and poster to accompany the music video. To effectively capture the conventions of UK Rap in the music video, they had to research elements like lighting, camera work, location, and props. Researching trends in how UK artists promote their music helped in creating interesting website and poster ancillary tasks. Posters are commonly used to promote artists and their social media at a low cost. The website and poster incorporated similar colors, fonts and themes to represent the artist's brand and connect all the pieces. While the poster was a good promotional tool, the website was deemed more effective

2.  For my A2 Media, I created a music Video with the Genre,
Rap. The two ancillary tasks that were asked for were to
create a Website and a Poster. There were a lot of
conventions that linked with UK Rap. To use this effectively,
I needed to shadow the norms. For example, the lighting,
camera work, mise-en- scene. So to do this effectively, I had
to look into every single factor that will be used in the music
video. The props used, the clothing, the location. By using
the theories, we were able to avoid having the stories
content and have different meanings that we can use for
effect. I believe that with to keep it interesting, the visuals
need to be at a high professional level in order to keep the
viewer engaged. By using the theory, it made creating the
ancillary tasks much easier. This is because we can be as
creative as we want with creating the website and poster.

3.  In order to have to make the ancillary tasks interesting, these two tasks needed to be
interesting. From research, we were able to see trends between how UK artists promote
their music and products. Also we could see how they use text and visuals to represent
themselves. With posters created, I noticed that they make a lot of their posters as a
chance to promote themselves because it is a cheaper alternative. Then they would
include their social media accounts and emails in case they want to find out more
information about what the poster is about. They use symbolism and enigma codes to
get the attention of the audience. From seeing other poster, I was able to see what I
needed to do in order to make my posters really effective. With the research into
different posters, I then then noticed that it linked well with my production as I can
promote my music video and any performances on the poster. The same went with the
webpage, research helped me with what I needed to include in my webpage. The
webpage had links to the artists social media pages and it was put together well. While i
gained more knowledge on how to make the website, I noticed that it had an impact on
my final production and more ideas were being generated. The main purpose of the
ancillary tasks was for promotion and to gain more information on the artists. These
tasks had a lot of symbolic and enigma codes. These codes will give the audience a better
understanding of what the artist is about.

4.  The combination between the two ancillary tasks
were really effective because I was able to use
similar text fonts, colours throughout. I followed
similar colour themes and this will give the
audience a better understanding of the production
as a whole. Andrew Goodwin’s theory of different
types of artists making a brand for themselves by
keeping a consistent them and they can
understand the link between all the different
products. Although the poster was a great
promotional tool, I feel that the Web page was
more effective because It gave a better insight to
what the artist was all about and it has access to
more information just by a few clicks.
