How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?  After deciding what kind of style I wanted for my music video , I used the basis of certain music video’s such as J magic and Wickaman to use conventions and similar effects, so I had an structured frame of what was to become my music video. I followed the same conventions, such as the white masks and the use of an implied narrative to demonstrate the  genre and styling of the music video.  New Media technologies allow a music video to advertise, promote, and market your product. Using You Tube, I instantly recognised the forms and conventions needed and also use tutorials to help design. YouTube also allowed me to research and form a basic structure for my idea’s so that I could collect and identify the best methods for my product.  Social networking sites also played a critical component in the evaluation stages. It helped me gain a understanding of what my audience were into, music and video wise. This helped us communicate with my target audience to obtain feedback which was compulsory in understanding what why the positive and negative parts of my music video. For example, face book allowed me to recite an overall view on what my friends favourite genre of music was, and also suggested what there favourite music video’s were. Face book and you tube  allowed me to post my music video, and allowed me to collect responses and keep up to date, with my analysed results.
[object Object],New media Technologies such as Adobe Premier allowed me to edit to footage to suit the music and the visuals. It also allowed to use certain effects such as cutting, ghosting, colour and contrast which allowed the video to become recognisable as media product.  Constantly using the programme allowed me to be better at using the functions which were vital in the creation and design of the video. The functions that were mainly useful for my specific video, were using the effects to maintain the specific look I was going for. Such as the black and white contrasts, to keep the originality and style of the video. The transactions were also used to maintain continuity throughout the footage so that the music video had more flow and rhythm to it. It also made the footage look more stylish and appropriate to the genre of the new media technologies. Adobe Premier also helped me use effects such as leave colour, which a lot of my audience feedback said was a positive.  Photoshop was my main new media technology when it came to designing the dig pack and my advert. I already gained previous Photoshop skills in my AS year when designing my Music magazine. This already gave me a structured plan on how to use the basic tools, such as brushes, effects, and it helped me widen the range of tools available, such as learning how to warp objects, was used constantly to broaden the effect and also so that the forms and conventions were not so commercial and ordinary.
[object Object],Experimenting using wrapping and curves to try and get a different feel to my digi pack in order to match the music video product. Working on my magazine project helped me gain the basic controls so I was instantly familiar with the tools , which consequently helped me to think of the alternatives ways of editing something.
Brushes I used constantly throughout the design of my digi pack.  I discovered loads of other new brush on p.s brushes.com. I found plenty of new designs that would match my genre, making it look more electro, drum and bass.
Used effects such as ghosting and blurring to get a rave/ club effect and to make our video seem more ‘ trippy’.
Selected the footage and input the so that the visuals matched the beat showing continuity.

Music video question 4

  • 1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? After deciding what kind of style I wanted for my music video , I used the basis of certain music video’s such as J magic and Wickaman to use conventions and similar effects, so I had an structured frame of what was to become my music video. I followed the same conventions, such as the white masks and the use of an implied narrative to demonstrate the genre and styling of the music video. New Media technologies allow a music video to advertise, promote, and market your product. Using You Tube, I instantly recognised the forms and conventions needed and also use tutorials to help design. YouTube also allowed me to research and form a basic structure for my idea’s so that I could collect and identify the best methods for my product. Social networking sites also played a critical component in the evaluation stages. It helped me gain a understanding of what my audience were into, music and video wise. This helped us communicate with my target audience to obtain feedback which was compulsory in understanding what why the positive and negative parts of my music video. For example, face book allowed me to recite an overall view on what my friends favourite genre of music was, and also suggested what there favourite music video’s were. Face book and you tube allowed me to post my music video, and allowed me to collect responses and keep up to date, with my analysed results.

  • 4. Brushes I used constantly throughout the design of my digi pack. I discovered loads of other new brush on p.s brushes.com. I found plenty of new designs that would match my genre, making it look more electro, drum and bass.
  • 5. Used effects such as ghosting and blurring to get a rave/ club effect and to make our video seem more ‘ trippy’.
  • 6. Selected the footage and input the so that the visuals matched the beat showing continuity.
