your main product and ancillary
texts?

2.  In order to create the correct aesthetics
for our music video we had to complete
the ancillary tasks which were to create
a digipak and a poster. These helped to
decide on shots and iconography to use
in the sequence. I chose to make a
digipak as it is seen as collectable
rather than a normal cd album as it
gives audiences a larger incentive to
buy it. I also included a bonus DVD as
a unique selling point as way to
increase sales. This is because CD and
record sales are declining due to illegal
downloading music and apps like Apple
Music and Spotify, which allows
thousands of songs at small monthly
costs.

3.  The way I link my digipak, poster and music
video together is through the use of colour
and imagery. The lines on the digipak can be
seen through the girls’ clothing like her stripy
top. The colour of the eye and the artist is
very bold and bright which can relate to the
paint scene as I created artistic images
using Photoshop which resembles similar
colours. The motif carried across the
ancillary texts and my main product is the
eye. It is from the main female character in
the music video and a few close ups are
used to it. Especially the last scene where
you see the eyes open with the logo inside
which is the same as on a panel on my
digipak. This shows that they interlink nicely.

4. I did not want her face to be the main image so she was not
confused as the artist, as it was not typical of the genre to use
images of people, especially the artist himself. This is evident in
both the music video and ancillary texts as the style is similar
throughout both due to the bright colours used in the music video
from the graffiti and my poster and digipak through stylized images.
The logo was used on both the CD and DVD to refer to the artist.
Also, the logo is its own motif across the music video as it is used,
as transportation method so I felt it was key to emphasize it. The
image of the eye is used on the front of my digipak and poster as
this was a convention of the genre.

5.  I included social media links on the poster to try and
highlight and attract new fans. This was useful as my target
audience are young adults who would typically use social
media so would be able to follow my artist and keep up to
date, making them the perfect demographic. The poster can
also be seen within the music video in some scenes as a
way to advertise the artist himself. The logo is also used in
many shots as its used to show continuity. Overall I feel my
main product and ancillary texts work well together. Also, the
EDM conventions are shown through all my media products
and the social media links on the poster will attract the right
audience.
