Why Is The First Amendment Important To Mass Media In The...
1. What is the rationale underlying copyright law?
To answer this, Copyright Law must be understood. Copyright Laws protect intellectual property, and
ownership rights. Artists can control their content by selling, leasing it or giving it away. Artists can
grant permission for their work and have the freedom to charge. It encourages creativity, and protects
the creativity by keeping it exclusive to the creator which allows profit. Mass media embodies the

2. Why is the First Amendment important to mass media in the United States?
The first amendment is important because free expression is important, without it information is
suppressed. The First Amendment pushes freedom to every citizen by declaring that all citizens, and
mass media are not limited to what they say. Without it, mass media would be a government
information piece very much like The Daily News in China. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What was the direction of court interpretation of the First Amendment in the 1900s? After the First
Amendment was passed, Congress attempted to jail citizens for speaking against the government with
a Law called the Alien and Sedition Acts. During the early 1900s, The First Amendment only covered
political issues. It was soon realized that politics crossed over from music, art and movies. Therefore
the First Amendment expanded to guard all forms of media from government censorship and

Aung San Suu Kyi influenced the people of Myanmar or Burma, which is East of India. The People of
Myanmar were influenced by her because she spoke up against the harsh rule of dictator U Ne Win
without using violent actions. Suu Kyi became the General Secretary of a new democratic party called
National League of Democracy (NLD). This position helped Suu Kyi speak up against U Ne Win
because of her political power. Being the daughter of someone who influenced Myanmar, former
Commander of the Burma (Myanmar) Independence Army, Aung San, she has gained much popularity
because of her father, but also because she was brave enough to speak up against Ne Win to achieve

international symbol of peaceful resistance in the face of cruelty. She didn t use violent actions to

Poetry Analysis Thanks By Yusef Kounyakaa

Poetry Essay Beauty is a subjective idea that focuses on the characteristics preferable to a single
species that gives an advantage over another and at the cost of another species survival. Humans have
created astounding empires with beautiful cities and monuments because they were the most
progressive species that are able to do so because of their capacity for violence. Some empires fear for
their survival, so they must eliminate any threat whether it be humans or other animals. The poem,
Thanks by Yusef Komunyakaa, it symbolizes how humans can become single minded only driven by
their own personal desires at the sake of anyone else. Humans naturally commit ugly atrocities to
progress their own beauty, or at least idea of, and they instinctively oppose nature because mankind is
the dark side of nature. The poem describes the life of a man during the Vietnam War, a conflict
involving the United States and local Vietnamese who supported a communist regime, and how
unexplainable sporadic events saved his life. He gives thanks to an unknown force that saves his life
multiple times throughout his tour in Vietnam because the instances are what some people consider
luck and others and act of a higher being or deity. Throughout the poem he expresses his gratitude
towards the entity that watches over him but later he questions the existence of a god because why
would one allow there to be a war in the first place and then send

Informed Consent In Counseling
Counseling is a profession that is grounded on direct interaction between the helper and the client as
seeking the help. This delicate profession may be harmful if correct procedure and core standard are
not respected. Counselors are dictated to respect the rights of the clients. As a collaborating
relationship within the counseling session both the clinician and the help seeker have rights and
responsibilities. Here comes the role of the standard code of ethics to draw the lines and stated the
limits to the profession. Counselors should conform to these standards.

Water And Water Pollution
~Introduction~ This lab will answer the question whether or not the water in the U Creek is polluted
using invertebrates as in indicator? Although there are many ways of measuring water quality,
invertebrates are good indicators because the number of invertebrates indicates the ability to sustain
life. Invertebrates will thrive in better quality water, whereas in poor quality water, invertebrates will
not survive as well. Other indicators of water quality such as dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrogen and
phosphorus. Dissolved oxygen is oxygen found in water. A high dissolved oxygen content is helpful
for aquatic life. Also, pH and measure water quality, a pH of 6.5 and 8.5 is healthy. Nitrogen can
measure water quality, more than 2.2 mg per liter is unhealthy. Phosphorus is necessary for life,
however too much phosphorus is unhealthy. Bottom dwelling invertebrates are the canaries of rivers
and lake when indicating pollution. When recovering invertebrates from bodies of water you can see
traces of pollution. Invertebrates live for a long time so that means that the pollution can be traced
over a long period of time. If the water were to be polluted than invertebrates that can tolerate said
pollution, therefore there is pollution. Invertebrates are animals without backbones. There are many
different kinds and the help with many things in ecosystems. They can be classified into different

Housing is one of the most basic of human needs. Provision of houses through the creation of
mortgages is taken for granted in developed countries; however, it remains a major challenge in
developing countries, especially in sub Saharan Africa.
All governments in Nigeria since independence highlighted housing as a major priority.

2. Registering Property
According to the World Bank s report Doing Business in 2007 How to Reform , Nigeria s reforms
have led to a reduction in the time required to complete the process of property registration from
274 to 80 days, but a lot still needs to be done because it takes only 1 day in some other countries such
as Norway and Singapore. We should however note that part of the reduction in time is likely as a
result of improvements in property registration which has been implemented in Abuja and in
Lagos as well. In fact the Doing Business indication of 80 days is based on a test case of property
registration in Lagos. I urge other state governments to replicate the improvements achieved in the
Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) and Lagos State in their various states. Investors are
comfortable in environments where registration is automated and procedures are minimal, and will be
glad to invest in such places.
Automation though important, should be accompanied by changes in work culture in government
registries. The time taken to register property must be substantially reduced. The current time taken is
definitely unacceptable if we want to attract private investment.
The fees paid to register property in Nigeria are extremely high and have

Medellvin Cartel Case Summary
Fernando Arenas, a pilot for the Medellín cartel, later explained to PBS Frontline the circumstances
behind the cartel s brief presence in Nicaragua. Otherwise, the transit points for Colombian cartels
were usually in countries with friendlier U.S. relations, such as Panama, Costa Rica, or the Bahamas.
The Medellín cartel essentially declared war with the Colombian government in 1984 by assassinating
the Colombian Minister of Justice, Rodrigo Lara Bonilla. Consequently, the leadership of the cartel
fled their home country for a few months and bribed Tomas Borge for safe passage. Obviously, Barry

Chinese Empire Building In The Qing Dynasty
Starting in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Qing dynasty had built an immense territory
that greatly proceeded that any other empire of its time. The Chinese empire incorporated many non
Chinese people and continued to expand its empire. When the Qing dynasty conquered China, they
wanted to keep their ethnic distinctiveness so they forbade intermarriage between the Chinese and
themselves. The ruling elites of the Qing dynasty mastered the Chinese language and used the
bureaucratic system of government to rule the empire. Three major features of Chinese empire
building in the early modern era were bringing non Chinese into the territory, security concerns, and
cultural respect among neighboring peoples. These three distinctive features helped shape China s
empire to what it is today.
Chinese empire building vastly enlarged the territorial size of China and brought a number of non
Chinese people into the region (Strayer, 640). This influx of different people allowed China to grow as
a nation and introduced China to many different cultures. New people meant new languages, new
skills, and new technology which aided in the strong empire building. China appealed to many ...

solidly under Chinese Control (Strayer, 640). Despite its economic need, security was what caused

Although the Qing dynasty was taken over by the Manchus, their campaigns against the Mongols
marked the evolution of China into a Central Asian empire (Strayer, 640). The Chinese wanted to
unify the people of Eurasia. The Qing dynasty made use of China s military technology by taking over

Iwo Jima Thesis
Among the Americans who served on Iwo Island, uncommon valor was a common virtue. Those were
the words of Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, who served as an Admiral on the island of Iwo Jima. He was
a man who knew many, many soldiers to be his friends on the island. Admiral Nimitz, who he watched
fight and die in one of the bloodiest battles of World War ll, was a man of honor and always tried to
put his men in the best position possible. This battle is well worth knowing about. Especially because
if it hadn t happened, at least 24,000 lives would not have been saved. The U.S marines secured Iwo
Jima after sacrificing everything they had to save the lives of others. The heart of these soldiers cannot

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Religion Research
Religious truths can be revealed in different ways such as through symbolic language, images, and
statements. God is believed to be much greater than we can possibly imagine, as defined by
philosopher Anselm (1033 1109) That which nothing greater can be conceived . It can be difficult to
use our own language as a way of describing God and his attributes. The complexity of talking about
God is shown in the quote, God can be thought about more truly than he can be talked about, and he is
more truly than he can be thought about (De Trinitate On the Trinity ). In my discussion I will put
forward different approaches of Aquinas, Ramsey, Maimonides and other philosophers to evaluate the
strengths and weaknesses of symbolic language about God
Religious language is either analogical or equivocal. Thomas Aquinas and Ian Ramsey believed the
analogical approach and thought there were similarities between the words we use in ordinary
language and the words we use to describe God. Aquinas recognised that words do not have the same
meaning when applied to God being infinite, but are univocal to a certain extent. As there is a true
correspondence. E.g. God is good , we can understand what this means from our understanding of
good although it might not be as great. With this, Aquinas then developed his theory of proportion.
Within which he recognises that statements about God are qualitatively greater than statements about
humans. Although his theory does seem to suggest that our

Descriptive Essay On Elmwood Park
Elmwood Park is a village in Cook County, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and it was
established in 1914. The community has a population of 24,883 according to the 2010 census, and has
maintained a large Italian American population. I explored this village in early September, and stayed
for a few hours visiting the downtown area and some small neighborhoods. Downtown Elmwood Park
consisted of many restaurants, majority of them were Italian cuisine and Italian pizzerias. I saw a lot
of people outside as it was a nice warm day, there was a park that was filled with young children and
some elders, there was also some other adults walking/running with their dogs. About eighty percent
of the people there were Caucasian or at least it appeared to be that they were Caucasian. There was
about eight restaurants in just one block, and about six barber shops as well, and three grocery stores.
The village looked like it was heavily influenced with Italian culture and it almost felt like I stepped
into a typically Italian American neighborhood movie set. There was one bakery in particular that I
stepped into and also purchased bread from that filled up the block with it s smell which was pleasant
and was what appealed to me in the first place. The bakery had English and Italian text in the business

Managing Strategic Change at the Hmv Group
Managing Strategic Change At The HMV Group |
1. Introduction HMV Group announced a three year strategic and operational review in March 2007.
The primary purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the methods used to manage this strategic
change and to discuss alternatives. The secondary focus is to assess the decision to change. At a time
of change, much focus is placed upon developing strategy and not enough on the implementation and
management side. It is possible that a perfect strategy for a situation is wasted by poor
implementation. A specific strategy can be developed over night, however; successful strategy
implementation is a much longer process. In order to analyse HMV Group s change management
efforts, it is crucial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one manifestation of
this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because they
wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E Raynor
(2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy requires
the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall; due to over
commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of business, will
also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both imply that strong
competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to follow as companies
have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the case of HMV Group, its
operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of a failure to compete.
ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of managing strategic change has an
element of paradox attached to it. The logical reason for this is that different methods depend on the
circumstances the organisation is faced with. As there are no exact laws of change management, this is
what makes the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of the literature aims to provide a theory
for each and every eventuality;

The Internet s Effect On Education
On a weekly basis, we spend 80 hours on the internet. Based on how much we spend on the internet,
we should take care of ourselves and not lose our personalities. The internet has changed us in many
ways, but it has pros and cons to the users of the internet. The internet helps students, teachers, and
doctors and give ways to save money. Typewriters were used 100 years ago because there was no
internet, but with internet now we change our culture and society. The invention of the internet was a
turning point in history because it resulted in an influence on morality, education, civic engagement,
and the economy.
The internet has influence on education and morality by changing the way we think of education and
morality. People are even more leery of the internet s effect on morality (Internet Seen as Positive
Influence on Education but Negative on Morality in Emerging and Developing Nations). The internet
has given us a bad morality by having everything from how to do a criminal activity to how to get
away with it. We can learn about drugs and alcohol, where to buy it, and whom to buy it from.
Another example, is that we use internet as an easy way out of our daisy life. A survey done by
Publishers Association show that we use the internet for news , weather , financial services , retail
shopping ,and automobile rather than watch television. From this we can analyze we trust the internet
more the television or we do not have time in the world to watch television. There

A Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Duality presents itself as a common theme in late Victorian literature and serves to allow readers to
analyze late Victorian literature and culture. Duality is loosely defined as an instance of opposition or
contrast between two aspects of one thing. A struggle perhaps, between opposing forces. Stevenson s
novel A strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, is centered around portrayal of deep duality in man
and man s struggle to contain his inner primal instincts. Stevenson uses many methods throughout his
novel to depict this concept. Throughout the novel, Jekyll is driven by his motive to discover his
darker side. Because this story takes place in the Victorian era where there are only two types of
people: good and bad, Jekyll struggles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are they halves of the same person, but they re described as being polar opposites, one good
and one evil. What does it mean, then, that once Hyde manifests, he slowly seems to take over and
destroy Jekyll? Could Jekyll s theory of good and evil be too neat? Hyde s takeover of Jekyll doesn t
provide a clear cut explanation. Could the human condition be a repression of dark urges, and once the
repression of those dark urges breaks it becomes impossible to put back into place, allowing the dark
nature of man to emerge? Would this suggest that man is not in fact double but rather one? This can be
related to Freudian psychodynamic concepts. More specifically Structural Theory related to the id,
ego, and superego of the psyche. The characters in the novel manifest characteristics of the structural
theory of the mind. Mr. Hyde would seem easily recognizable as the id, seeking instant gratification,
having an aggressive instinct, and having no moral or social mores that need be followed. He takes
pleasure in violence and similar to the death instinct ultimately leads to his own destruction. Dr. Jekyll
is then the ego; he is conscious and rational, and is dominated by social principles (Singh and
Chakrabarti 223). Similarly, Carl Jung s theory of the psyche can also be related to Jekyll and Hyde.
Per Jung, the human psyche can be divided into archetypes, one of which being the self and the other
the shadow. The Self was the sum total of the

Weaknesses
Columbia lacks a strategic management plan linking its resources to its market opportunities.
It lacks thorough understanding of its target market (the needs of the present and future customers).
It lacks continuous improvement in its production process in order to reduce production costs.
(Columbia s production cost is higher than that of competitors.) Opportunities
Market development: Columbia can develop new markets to sell its current products. (for example,
expansion to California, Mid Western states and international markets)
Product development: Using the plastic moulding skills, it can develop new or improved products that
will appeal to the customers (for example, improved skylights to reduce heat loss).
Threats
The competitor is cutting its price to a level that Columbia cannot match.
Columbia is steadily loosing its market share to the competitor (at a rate of 1,000 units per year).
Market and competitive analysis
Total sales of skylights are 45,000 units per year, primarily in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and
Montana. The sales of skylights have levelled off in recent years. Prior to the advent of Vancouver
Light, Columbia had about a 70% share of this market. Colombia also occasionally sells a large order

Carnivore Case
1. Suppose you found the bones of an unidentified animal. How could you learn about what the animal
ate? What specific structures would give you clues about the creature s diet: The first thing I would
look for is specific traits that would narrow down the two million species list. Secondly, what kind of
animals live in the area (lets say we are in Canada). Obviously an animal with a spine would be a good
indicator that the animal is either a carnivore or a herbivore. But if we really want to know what an
animal eats in general we have to look at the animal s teeth. Let s say this animal we find has large flat
molars fore specifically grinding up plant matter and cellulose. Then it would be reasonable to assume
that the animal we are looking at is a deer. If the jaw of the animal is capable of moving side to side
and not just up and down than it is reasonable to assume even without looking at the teeth that this
animal is a herbivore. If the animal s jaw can move only up and down, we can safely guess that the
animal is mainly a carnivore. Carnivores need strong locked jaws that are incapable of shifting from
side to side so when they are holding onto prey their jaws can t be broken. Animal s that have large
canine teeth with minimal molars are generally carnivores. This jaw and teeth system isn t set in stone,

Development, And Human Development Of The Hararappan...
The Harappan Civilization is arguably one of the most successful and cultivated human development
known to this date. Known as the Chalcolithic period because of copper and stone use, this civilization
started in around 2600 B.C 1900 B.C and is the oldest civilization in the world. Although many refer
to it as the Indus Valley Civilization, it is not technically accurate because this culture was spanning
way further than the Indus, so it is more reasonable to call it Harappan. The development of this
society contains many different aspects, such as geography and buildings, crafts and trade, religion
and ritual impurity, etc. From what we know so far, the works of this civilization is truly remarkable.
Starting with the geographical and agricultural aspect, it is found that this whole civilization spanned
across major Indian Cities and parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Even though it covers a vast
majority of land, the heart of the civilization was located in Harappa and Mohenjodaro because of
great soil and the flooding of the river. We discovered that the town was split in two the Citadel and
the lower town. The Citadel was on a hill containing huge living structures, and a water area known as
the Great Bath that is speculated to be a ritual area. The lower town consisted of a grid like system,
having all of the house perfectly aligned. The larger homes are speculated to be the houses of the more
rich people and smaller homes for the less rich. One huge detail that

The Conquests Of Alexander The Great
Introduction The conquests of Alexander the Great ushered in a new era in the political and cultural
history of the Near East. In their wake, both the Jews of Judaea and their brethren in a rapidly
expanding diaspora were subjected to radical forces of social and cultural change. These changes,
effected by the introduction of Greek culture into the lands of the Near East that led to the emergence
of the phenomenon commonly known as Hellenism, greatly transcended the purely political
vicissitudes that were destined to envelop this part of the inhabited world. One of the striking features
of Second Temple history is the fact that most Jews, not only in the Diaspora but in Palestine as well,
never experienced complete Jewish sovereignty. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Jewish diaspora was already in existence from the late seventh century: Jews had been deported to
the Babylonian area at least as early as 597, and Jeremiah 52 speaks of two more deportations, in
587/586 and about 582 BCE. As for Egypt, at least one colony existed ay Elephantine, probably from
the seventh century. This continued, with Jews emigrating or being forcibly taken to Egypt in the
period of the Diadochi. The result is that by the early Hellenistic period a considerable Jewish
diaspora existed, with Jews living in Egypt and Mesopotamia and later in Asia Minor, as well as Syria
and Palestine. The people bore the name of Jews (Greek) after their ancestral homeland of Judah. The
Ptolemaic Period 320 198 BC The 40 years of fighting after Alexander s death finally came to an end
with the death of the main protagonists by the year 280 BCE. Much of the third century BCE was
dominated by the Syrian wars. These constituted an ongoing conflict between the Ptolemaic and
Seleucid empires over Syro Palestine. As noted in the previous chapter, the council of visitors after the
battle of Ipsus (301 BCE) had awarded this region to Seleucus because Ptolemy had not participated
in the battle; however, Ptolemy occupied the area up to the Eleutherus river, north of Tripolis, and
refused to concede the territory. In 301 BCE Ptolemy took Palestine once more and this time Egypt

Ontario Approach An Reflection Point Summary
The article Provincial Municipal Relations in Ontario: Approaching an Inflection Point discusses how
the relationship between provincial and municipal government in Ontario needs to adapt to changing
circumstances as time goes on. In order for the relationship to adapt there needs to be more
communication on what both levels of government roles and responsibilities are in order to better
serve the province as partners. One of the strengths of this article is that it is broken up into sections to
discuss different aspects of the provincial municipal relationship and how both levels of government
can communicate to better understand their roles. The article also discusses financial issues and how
the strengthening of the provincial municipal relationship can help combat the financial concerns on
the horizon, such as the municipal infrastructure deficit. A weakness of this article is that although it
provides many thoughtful examples of how the Ontario government has been able to strengthen the
provincial and municipal relationship in the past, it needs to focus more on the solution as opposed to
the examples. The past examples should be only to support the articles argument as opposed to being
the argument itself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

communicate those needs to the province in order to get what they need. The textbook discusses the
importance of these consultations because communication is the only way the province is going to be
able to meet the demands of the municipality. Even though the province is seen as having more power
they need to be able to provide the right support, therefore the municipality needs to take
responsibility of stating what support and finances they

Gender Discrimination And The Workplace
Gender Discrimination
There are many things that a potential employee has to worry about when considering taking a
position within a company. Things like the amount of pay they need, the benefits that will be offered
to them, the values and morals of the company and whether or not those values and morals align with
their own, and if they could see themselves growing within this company throughout the years
because no one wants to work a dead end job for the rest of their life. However, along with all that an
employee has to worry about, there are also things that they should not have to worry about. Things
like equality, fair pay, ADA approved reasonable accommodations should they be required, and being
discriminated against, especially based on their gender.
Problem Situation
One of the most difficult things for someone to deal with within a work place is gender discrimination.
If we lived in a perfect world, it would not exist, but unfortunately we live in a world where all types
of discrimination exist. Gender discrimination happens all around the world and it takes a substantial
amount of time to change. Being discriminated against at your job because of your gender is a difficult
situation. It can negatively impact the organization by making the work environment uncomfortable.
When a gender discrimination problem arises within an organization you will usually also find
tension, decreased production, internal conflict, and increased employee turnover, all of which

Threats
Some threats can adversely affect the business of Sears Holdings Corporation. The most prominent
risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and international
retail companies. Top three competitors of the group are J.C Penney Corporation Inc., Target
Corporation and Wal Mart Stores Inc. (Hoovers, 2011). The retail business is a cut throat competition.
The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and around the globe.
Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. If any merger of the magnitude
equal to Sears can have an impact on the market position and share of the Sears Holdings Corporation
Sear s revenue growth will likely be affected. The housing market crisis, as well as the increased food
and utility prices, change the buying power of the people by leaving the consumers with less
disposable income. At that point, the lowest pay permitted by law rate set by the US government has
expanded the work expenses of the organizations worked in the United States which has, thus,
developed their costs of operating together in the business sectors (Insley, 2011).

players to sustain their market presence and profitability in the today s competitive environment. Sears

Research Study For An Efficient Study Design
A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the
study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The sample
size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on
the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a sample should not be
too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants involved in the
study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes to waste time and resources. In
addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample size may be exposed to unnecessary risk.
Therefore, the researchers should take careful attention while determining the appropriate sample size
for their studies to avoid the question of ethical practices.
The role of researchers is define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study
design before selecting a representative sample size. Then they consider the proportion of participants,
and the value of the numbers to put in the formula before determining the sample size. Kamangar
Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size are the
availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the study, and
any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their study is

Module # 5
C. Commentary: Discuss the central issue addressed in each reading. Explain the relationship among
the different perspectives taken on developing reading competence in each of the readings. What
conclusions might be drawn about the challenges in facilitating literacy for urban and other
underserved students? What approaches might best serve the needs of these students?
Shanahan (2011) makes an excellent point that for each discipline there should be a different way of
ensuring that learning is taking place. Not all disciplines are the same, so their approaches should be
different as well. If students struggle with history they may also struggle with English if they are
taught the same way. Learning goals and strategies vary by class and so should teaching method and
delivery. The points in this article should be taken into consideration when teachers create lesson
plans.
Taylor (2003) et al. in this study investigated the effects of teaching on students reading achievement.
If students are tested repeatedly via assessment and homework over the same topic they will lose

The Issues Influencing Nursing Practice
This assignment will cover the issues influencing nursing practice. Adult and child are the two fields
of nursing which will be discussed and compared, whilst consent will be the main issue covered
throughout, it is an important issue because every individual is different, by gaining consent the
individual patient s best interests will be put first. Consent is one of the most important issues that
influences nursing practice as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code discusses how it is
important to gain consent before providing any care or treatment. Nurses should always follow the
NMC guidelines to ensure they are practicing correctly and professionally, therefore this influences
how they practice. Firstly the assignment will discuss the adult field of nursing, then leading on to the
child field, in both areas it will explain influences of consent to nursing practice. Lastly it will have a
comparison of the two fields.
In the adult field of nursing consent is usually given by the individual adult who is about to receive
treatment or care, except for some circumstances where the patient has had a capacity test to prove or
disprove that they don t have the capacity to make these decisions, decisions will be made for a patient
if they are proved to be incapable themselves however these must be in the best interest of the patient.
The law supporting this is the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) (2005). A nurse should have knowledge
about this act so they can determine if a

currently the second leading cause of death among Canadian women (Komen 2015). Breast cancer can

Jean Pierre Corteggiani From The French Institute Of...
Jean Pierre Corteggiani from the French Institute of Oriental Archeology states that the Nile is
therefore life itself to Egypt. He said that the eastern part of the desert of Sahara would be nothing
without the water supplied by the Nile river. Water was life at the time of the ancient Egyptian
civilization. The source of life of this river comes from the mountains of Ethiopia, 2,000 kilometers
from the Delta. However, between the months of June to September when is storm season, the Nile
river overflows becoming a sea converting nearby cities into islands. Therefore, Egyptians tried to
keep a record of the Nile s first signs of overflow by building Nilometers to measure increases in the
water level. It took 10 years to control the annual overflowing. A thought of that time was that gods
spread blessings all over the river, since the banks of this river gave the pass to agriculture. As new
techniques were developed, so the ancient Egyptian civilization production increased as well.
Nonetheless, the Nile river became the natural route for traders. On the golden age of ancient
Egyptians, pharaohs ruled over those lands. Pharaohs were seen as a god. Touching a pharaoh could
have been punished with the death, since they were sacred. Under their commands, gigantic pyramids
were constructed. However, the logic of the edification of those pyramids and their builders are still a
mystery. All that is known is that the construction of the mausoleum required high technical

Youth International Party Research Paper
The Youth International party was an American activism group, born out of the anti war movement,
concerned with civil rights. The Youth International Party has also been referred to as Yippies, who are
now known for their theatrical style of collective action during the sixties. The group mainly consisted
of hippies, counterculture revolutionist, political workers, and activists. The Yippies harbored
collective action by using elements of performance to demonstrate their cause. In 1967 to 1968,
Yippies constructed multiple street demonstrations in protest of the United States military involvement
in the Vietnam War. The group was founded by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, two men that became
a symbol for radical activism. The group was founded by the two activist in 1968.
Yippies goal for these performances were, protesting Johnson s Vietnam policy, argued for an end to
the draft, and made the case for a different kind of American society, one based not on capitalism but
cooperation. (Shawyer 2008: 14) Yippies strategies were to use street theatre to create an experience to
draw attention to America and communicate that the average American did not have any control over

Similarities Between The Garden Of Eden And The Tabernacle
Similarities Between the Garden of Eden and the Tabernacle Throughout the Old Testament, the
tabernacle was a centerfold of worshiping God for the Israelite people. This was where believers could
congregate to seek peace, sing praises, and make animal sacrifices to God. The tabernacle was also a
resting place for God to come down from Heaven and dwell with His children. Similarly, the Garden
of Eden was once a perfect creation for God to have an earthly dwelling place to be with Adam and
Eve. That, until the age old story of sin and deception came into place. The Garden of Eden was a
perfect model of how God designed a place of worship to be, that is why He provided Moses with
specific instructions of how the tabernacle should be built as a replica of the garden. The tabernacle
stands as a symbolic model of the original creation the Garden of Eden, through its reproduction of
several of the garden s well known features, such as the cherubim guarding the entrance, the Tree of
Life, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the direction of the Garden facing east. The
tabernacle s recreation of the cherubim guarding the entrance to the Garden of Eden is in its placement
of these angelic beings sitting above and protecting the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The ark was an
intricately decorated wooden box holding a copy of the Ten Commandments, symbolizing the living
presence of God among the people. The ark, like Eden, was a sacred place where only God could
dwell and sin may never be present. After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, cherubim were placed at the
entrance of the Garden to shield His perfect creation from sin. In doing so, He made sure that the two
would not find the entrance again, ( Guarding the Gate of Eden. ). Likewise, to protect the holiness of
the ark, God ordered the Israelites to create cherubim to protect the ark from sin intruding upon its
presence. Lisa Schachter states in her article, The Garden of Eden as God s First Sanctuary, that in
both contexts [the cherubim] are the guardians of both the literal and figurative Tree of Life discussed
in the story of creation. God did not want His perfect creation to become corrupted again, so He
placed cherubim on both sides of the ark as a

Poetry Analysis Thanks By Yusef Kounyakaa Nicholas Nava Mr. Coogan AP Lang 6 22 November 2017 Poetry Essay Beauty is a subjective idea that focuses on the characteristics preferable to a single species that gives an advantage over another and at the cost of another species survival. Humans have created astounding empires with beautiful cities and monuments because they were the most progressive species that are able to do so because of their capacity for violence. Some empires fear for their survival, so they must eliminate any threat whether it be humans or other animals. The poem, Thanks by Yusef Komunyakaa, it symbolizes how humans can become single minded only driven by their own personal desires at the sake of anyone else. Humans naturally commit ugly atrocities to progress their own beauty, or at least idea of, and they instinctively oppose nature because mankind is the dark side of nature. The poem describes the life of a man during the Vietnam War, a conflict involving the United States and local Vietnamese who supported a communist regime, and how unexplainable sporadic events saved his life. He gives thanks to an unknown force that saves his life multiple times throughout his tour in Vietnam because the instances are what some people consider luck and others and act of a higher being or deity. Throughout the poem he expresses his gratitude towards the entity that watches over him but later he questions the existence of a god because why would one allow there to be a war in the first place and then send ... Registering Property According to the World Bank s report Doing Business in 2007 How to Reform , Nigeria s reforms have led to a reduction in the time required to complete the process of property registration from 274 to 80 days, but a lot still needs to be done because it takes only 1 day in some other countries such as Norway and Singapore. We should however note that part of the reduction in time is likely as a result of improvements in property registration which has been implemented in Abuja and in Lagos as well. In fact the Doing Business indication of 80 days is based on a test case of property registration in Lagos. I urge other state governments to replicate the improvements achieved in the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) and Lagos State in their various states. Investors are comfortable in environments where registration is automated and procedures are minimal, and will be glad to invest in such places. Chinese Empire Building In The Qing Dynasty Starting in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Qing dynasty had built an immense territory that greatly proceeded that any other empire of its time. The Chinese empire incorporated many non Chinese people and continued to expand its empire. When the Qing dynasty conquered China, they wanted to keep their ethnic distinctiveness so they forbade intermarriage between the Chinese and themselves. The ruling elites of the Qing dynasty mastered the Chinese language and used the bureaucratic system of government to rule the empire. Three major features of Chinese empire building in the early modern era were bringing non Chinese into the territory, security concerns, and cultural respect among neighboring peoples. These three distinctive features helped shape China s empire to what it is today. Chinese empire building vastly enlarged the territorial size of China and brought a number of non Chinese people into the region (Strayer, 640). • 14. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Religion Research Religious truths can be revealed in different ways such as through symbolic language, images, and statements. God is believed to be much greater than we can possibly imagine, as defined by philosopher Anselm (1033 1109) That which nothing greater can be conceived . It can be difficult to use our own language as a way of describing God and his attributes. The complexity of talking about God is shown in the quote, God can be thought about more truly than he can be talked about, and he is more truly than he can be thought about (De Trinitate On the Trinity ). In my discussion I will put forward different approaches of Aquinas, Ramsey, Maimonides and other philosophers to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of symbolic language about God Religious language is either analogical or equivocal. Thomas Aquinas and Ian Ramsey believed the analogical approach and thought there were similarities between the words we use in ordinary language and the words we use to describe God. Aquinas recognised that words do not have the same meaning when applied to God being infinite, but are univocal to a certain extent. As there is a true correspondence. E.g. God is good , we can understand what this means from our understanding of good although it might not be as great. With this, Aquinas then developed his theory of proportion. Within which he recognises that statements about God are qualitatively greater than statements about humans. Although his theory does seem to suggest that our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At a time of change, much focus is placed upon developing strategy and not enough on the implementation and management side. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one manifestation of this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because they wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E Raynor (2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy requires the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall; due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of business, will also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both imply that strong competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to follow as companies have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the case of HMV Group, its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of a failure to compete. ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of managing strategic change has an element of paradox attached to it. The logical reason for this is that different methods depend on the circumstances the organisation is faced with. As there are no exact laws of change management, this is what makes the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of the literature aims to provide a theory for each and every eventuality; ... People are even more leery of the internet s effect on morality (Internet Seen as Positive Influence on Education but Negative on Morality in Emerging and Developing Nations). The internet has given us a bad morality by having everything from how to do a criminal activity to how to get away with it. • 20. A Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde Duality presents itself as a common theme in late Victorian literature and serves to allow readers to analyze late Victorian literature and culture. Duality is loosely defined as an instance of opposition or contrast between two aspects of one thing. A struggle perhaps, between opposing forces. Stevenson s novel A strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, is centered around portrayal of deep duality in man and man s struggle to contain his inner primal instincts. Stevenson uses many methods throughout his novel to depict this concept. Throughout the novel, Jekyll is driven by his motive to discover his darker side. What does it mean, then, that once Hyde manifests, he slowly seems to take over and destroy Jekyll? Could Jekyll s theory of good and evil be too neat? Hyde s takeover of Jekyll doesn t provide a clear cut explanation. Could the human condition be a repression of dark urges, and once the repression of those dark urges breaks it becomes impossible to put back into place, allowing the dark nature of man to emerge? Would this suggest that man is not in fact double but rather one? This can be related to Freudian psychodynamic concepts. Mr. Hyde would seem easily recognizable as the id, seeking instant gratification, having an aggressive instinct, and having no moral or social mores that need be followed. He takes pleasure in violence and similar to the death instinct ultimately leads to his own destruction. Dr. Jekyll is then the ego; he is conscious and rational, and is dominated by social principles (Singh and Chakrabarti 223). Although many refer to it as the Indus Valley Civilization, it is not technically accurate because this culture was spanning way further than the Indus, so it is more reasonable to call it Harappan. The development of this society contains many different aspects, such as geography and buildings, crafts and trade, religion and ritual impurity, etc. From what we know so far, the works of this civilization is truly remarkable. Starting with the geographical and agricultural aspect, it is found that this whole civilization spanned across major Indian Cities and parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Research Study For An Efficient Study Design A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a sample should not be too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants involved in the study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes to waste time and resources. In addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample size may be exposed to unnecessary risk. Therefore, the researchers should take careful attention while determining the appropriate sample size for their studies to avoid the question of ethical practices. The role of researchers is define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study design before selecting a representative sample size. Learning goals and strategies vary by class and so should teaching method and delivery. The points in this article should be taken into consideration when teachers create lesson plans. Taylor (2003) et al. in this study investigated the effects of teaching on students reading achievement. If students are tested repeatedly via assessment and homework over the same topic they will lose interest and momentum. Taylor makes a point of showing educators that higher order thinking is necessary and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to understand that there are many factors that can affect how students learn to read. Schools and teachers are two factors that determine how students learn. Schools may not always have the most up to date, or helpful resources to help this demographic of students. Teachers may not always be prepared to help struggling students. Together these two factors enable the achievement gap to be what it is. In order to alter the gap schools should first work on helping their teachers and making sure that everyone is on the same ... • 34. The Issues Influencing Nursing Practice This assignment will cover the issues influencing nursing practice. Adult and child are the two fields of nursing which will be discussed and compared, whilst consent will be the main issue covered throughout, it is an important issue because every individual is different, by gaining consent the individual patient s best interests will be put first. Consent is one of the most important issues that influences nursing practice as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code discusses how it is important to gain consent before providing any care or treatment. Nurses should always follow the NMC guidelines to ensure they are practicing correctly and professionally, therefore this influences how they practice. Firstly the assignment will discuss the adult field of nursing, then leading on to the child field, in both areas it will explain influences of consent to nursing practice. Lastly it will have a comparison of the two fields. In the adult field of nursing consent is usually given by the individual adult who is about to receive treatment or care, except for some circumstances where the patient has had a capacity test to prove or disprove that they don t have the capacity to make these decisions, decisions will be made for a patient if they are proved to be incapable themselves however these must be in the best interest of the patient. The law supporting this is the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) (2005). A nurse should have knowledge about this act so they can determine if a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Jean Pierre Corteggiani From The French Institute Of... Jean Pierre Corteggiani from the French Institute of Oriental Archeology states that the Nile is therefore life itself to Egypt. He said that the eastern part of the desert of Sahara would be nothing without the water supplied by the Nile river. Water was life at the time of the ancient Egyptian civilization. The source of life of this river comes from the mountains of Ethiopia, 2,000 kilometers from the Delta. However, between the months of June to September when is storm season, the Nile river overflows becoming a sea converting nearby cities into islands. Therefore, Egyptians tried to keep a record of the Nile s first signs of overflow by building Nilometers to measure increases in the water level. It took 10 years to control the annual overflowing. A thought of that time was that gods spread blessings all over the river, since the banks of this river gave the pass to agriculture. As new techniques were developed, so the ancient Egyptian civilization production increased as well. Nonetheless, the Nile river became the natural route for traders. On the golden age of ancient Egyptians, pharaohs ruled over those lands. Pharaohs were seen as a god. Touching a pharaoh could have been punished with the death, since they were sacred. Under their commands, gigantic pyramids were constructed. However, the logic of the edification of those pyramids and their builders are still a mystery. All that is known is that the construction of the mausoleum required high technical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Similarities Between The Garden Of Eden And The Tabernacle Similarities Between the Garden of Eden and the Tabernacle Throughout the Old Testament, the tabernacle was a centerfold of worshiping God for the Israelite people. This was where believers could congregate to seek peace, sing praises, and make animal sacrifices to God. The tabernacle was also a resting place for God to come down from Heaven and dwell with His children. Similarly, the Garden of Eden was once a perfect creation for God to have an earthly dwelling place to be with Adam and Eve. That, until the age old story of sin and deception came into place. The Garden of Eden was a perfect model of how God designed a place of worship to be, that is why He provided Moses with specific instructions of how the tabernacle should be built as a replica of the garden. The tabernacle stands as a symbolic model of the original creation the Garden of Eden, through its reproduction of several of the garden s well known features, such as the cherubim guarding the entrance, the Tree of Life, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the direction of the Garden facing east. The tabernacle s recreation of the cherubim guarding the entrance to the Garden of Eden is in its placement of these angelic beings sitting above and protecting the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The ark was an intricately decorated wooden box holding a copy of the Ten Commandments, symbolizing the living presence of God among the people. The ark, like Eden, was a sacred place where only God could dwell and sin may never be present. After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, cherubim were placed at the entrance of the Garden to shield His perfect creation from sin. In doing so, He made sure that the two would not find the entrance again, ( Guarding the Gate of Eden. ). Likewise, to protect the holiness of the ark, God ordered the Israelites to create cherubim to protect the ark from sin intruding upon its presence. Lisa Schachter states in her article, The Garden of Eden as God s First Sanctuary, that in both contexts [the cherubim] are the guardians of both the literal and figurative Tree of Life discussed in the story of creation. God did not want His perfect creation to become corrupted again, so He placed cherubim on both sides of the ark as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
