There is no differentiation among students who do or do not wear glasses and they either have little or
no income (associated with part time work). The research identified UTS undergraduate students value
products that are widely accessible, function properly (related to high quality) and allow them to
express their individuality. They look for low prices and brand familiarity and they prefer humour
advertising appeals.
The majority of target customers are brand switchers . Evidence of brand switchers was shown by the
majority of survey respondents who browse a variety of brands and styles when purchasing eyewear.
Additionally, price influences the eyewear choices more than any other factor. Although they prefer
familiar brands (which may appear as multi brand loyals activity), there was still a multitude of other
smaller eyewear retailers listed by target customers.
Further psychographic information on the target customer is described below:
 They want stylish frames to keep up with trends and won t become outdated quickly
 They wear sunglasses as a fashion accessory and not just for eye protection
 They are always looking to try smaller retailers which are perceived as new and modern
 They shop for eyewear online, but mainly from retailers with complementary physical stores
 They value companies who pay proper attention to their needs and make it easy to purchase

Attitudes of Christianity and Islam Toward Merchants and...
From their origins to 1500, the attitudes of both Christian and Muslims toward trade shifted as
conditions in the Christian and Islamic worlds changed. In the beginning, Christian attitudes were
more negative, while Muslims tended to encourage and respect trade and merchants. Over time,
Muslims became more like early Christians in that they were suspicious of traders whereas the
Christians became more like the early Muslims, equating merchants (at least honest ones) with doing
God s work, reflecting the changed importance of trade in the high Middle Ages in Europe.
At their origins, Christians and Muslims had different views about merchants and traders. This can be
seen in the first two documents which are excerpts from the holy books of ... Show more content on

Commerce is the increasing of capital by buying goods and attempting to sell them at a price higher
than their cost. Waiting for a rise in the market price or by transporting the goods to another place
where they are more keenly demanded. It is necessary to have enough initial capital to pay in cash the
sellers from whom one buys goods, to sell for cash as honesty. Dishonesty leads on the one hand to
fraud and the adulteration of goods and on the other to delays on payment which diminish profits
because capital remains idle during the interval. (Document 5, fourteen century Universal History.)
Evasiveness, litigation and disputation, all of which are characteristics of the profession and qualities
lead to a decrease and weakening in virtue which can mistaken as bias because some may say this
persona to commerce makes one a human being. This shows a much more respectful view towards
merchants and may reflect the fact that Muhammad, the founder of Islam was a merchant himself.
Since this question is about attitudes about trade it would be more complete with documents
portraying the views of more groups. For example, letters from Muslim merchants would allow us to
examine that group s view about trade. Documents from Orthodox Christians would give a more
complete picture of the attitudes of Christianity. Collection records from Muslim mosques or Christian
churches would allow us to compare how each benefited from merchants and so be able to

Private Prisons Vs Private Prison
The United States of America is the nation with the most people in prison despite not having the
greatest population. As a matter of fact, the U.S. has less than five percent of the world s population,
yet incarcerates about a quarter of its prisoners. Millions of these prisoners are incarcerated in for
profit prisons. Optimally, a prison is utilized for prisoners in an attempt to rehab them or remove them
from the streets. However, a private prison is run by a corporation, which has an end goal of
maximizing its profits. The way that these prisons make money is through stipends from the
government that is granted depending on the size of the prison or primarily on the number of prisoners
that the prison house. As a result, private prisons

Dont Judge a Book by the Cover Essay
You Can t Tell
Many people feel that you can tell a lot about a person by observing what they wear and what they eat.
This is not the case. Choice of clothing and eating habits, in no way, allow you to pass judgment on a
person. Judging people based on these factors is extremely shallow. What one wears and eats in no
way depicts character, behavior, or even intelligence. One simply cannot know a person by looking at
them and observing what they eat. Such a thought is ridiculous.
Instead of looking at clothing and what one is eating, character should be the basis for opinion.
Judging a book by the cover only leads to surprises, and in this case, judging a human by dress can
lead to surprises as well. Just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wearing nice clothes and eating fancy food means nothing if the person behaves like a child. A person
wearing dirty clothes and eating out of the garbage may behave better. This is why prejudging people
can often wrong. A bum with good manners and behavior would be more pleasant to be around than a
rich, snob with no manners and horrible behavior. One cannot have a full outlook on an individual by
just viewing their dress and eating habits. Looking at someone s clothing or what is in their
refrigerator does not depict behavior.
By seeing what one wears and eats in no way allows you to know if the person is intelligent. Crazy as
it sounds, some bums are educated, smart people. These bums eating from garbage s may even carry a
conversation better than someone wearing a business suit and eating Red Lobster every night. An
intelligent person could simply choose not to care about dress. Not all smart people conform to what
society feels is appropriate. Some may choose to dress like bums simply because they don t care. It
doesn t mean they re any less smart or have less money. It could mean that such petty things do not get
to this person. To me this shows tremendous strength. Intelligence cannot be judged by observing one
s clothing and eating habits.

Trends In College Sports
Rutgers Trending: Down
Despite winning their first conference game of the season by 23, Rutgers still remains on the down
trend. While they avoided joining Boston College as the only Power 5 schools to go winless in
conference play, Rutgers still had a season to forget. They enter the Big Ten tournament as the 14 seed
with very little chance of winning any games in the tournament.
Minnesota Trending: Down
A bad season gets worse for Minnesota as they lost by 25 points to Rutgers on Saturday. To shoot 30
percent from the field against a team ranked 272nd in field goal percentage against only begins to
show how bad this loss is. Minnesota reached a high point of the season after beating Maryland on

Their 8 10 conference record does include a victory over Wisconsin and an overtime loss to Maryland
(ranked number seven at the time.) While they have had a sub .500 Big Ten record in every season
since 2003 2004, 20 wins in a season is no small accomplishment. A BPI of 71 puts Northwestern in
the territory of bubble teams Temple, St. Bonaventure and LSU, and a first round matchup against a
slumping Michigan team gives Northwestern a chance for a quality win to build on.
Michigan Trending: Down
Michigan is among Joe Lunardi s First Four out, and will likely need two wins in the Big Ten
tournament to feel better about their tournament chances. After starting conference play 7 2 Michigan
has gone 3 5 and 1 4 against ranked teams. They do not have a loss to any team ranked below them in
the conference, but only have two wins against teams ranked above them. The Michigan Wolverines
are the pinnacle of the adage beat who you are supposed to beat but they will likely need to beat some
better teams in the conference tournament if they want to go dancing in March.

Analysis Of The Movie Spike Lee
Spike Lee is an Afro American director who has developed more fame and importance in the last 20
years. He portrays his stories in a way that nothing is fictitious and many of them are written about
some real events. Lee has co produced many of his films and has acted in some small roles within
them. According to IMDb (2016), Lee s work consists of: 26 films, 30 television programs, 45
commercials, 15 short films, starred in several films, and was a producer and writer of many other
works. Although, his films are somewhat irregular in terms of color palettes, shots, and exposition.
Regarding the plot, he is considered a drama director. Also, his works always emphasize action and
occasionally comedy.
Based on all the above, Lee s career will be analyzed from his early work in the film industry, his
career, and some of his most notable and recognized works.
For example, in many of the films I have seen so far, Spike Lee tends to substantiate his works in
many cultural, social, and political problems: besides the racism suffered by many African Americans
in the United States mainly. Lee became a director of promise with his first long film, She has to have
it (1986), according to McGowan (2014). This film was shot in around two weeks and cost around
$175,000 to make, but grossed more than $7 million, becoming in one of the most profitable films
created in 1986. Lee often takes a critical look at race relations, political problems, crime, and
violence. His film Do the

The Mysterious 36 Chambers Of The Shaolin Temple
The One to Thirty Six (1/36) or the thirty six English C lessons in Boxing, are the FOA s, thirty six

First Letter To Corinthians
There are many meaningful passages in the Holy Bible, but a passage from the first letter to the
Corinthians touched me the most. Your every act should be done with love (1 Corinthians 16:14).
Readers must read the first letter to the Corinthians as a whole book before attempting to understand
the passage, because apostle Paul, the author of the text, provides readers with a thorough
understanding into the life of an early Christian community of the first generation than any other book
of the New Testament. Paul may have written more, but there are only two epistles documented in the
New Testament with the other two included within the two canonical epistles, which he wrote to the
Christian church in the city of Corinth. During the year 56, the community of Corinth was manifesting
open factionalism: certain members were distinguishing themselves solely with individual Christian
leaders, living publicly in an incestuous union, engaged in legal conflicts in pagan courts of law,
participating in religious prostitution, and performing temple sacrifices. The lively pagan culture that
Corinth was famous for had crept into the church making it difficult to identify the Christians and non
Christians. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

things be done with charity (1 Corinthians 16:14). Paul emphasizes that love should bear all things,

Oedipus Tragic Flaw
The question is does Oedipus have a tragic flaw? The answer is yes. His tragic flaw is pride and anger
which keeps Oedipus from accepting his true fatal fate. His tragic flaw is what caused his downfall
because he can t accept the predictions about his life. He can t admit that he killed the king, his own
father, Laius. He does not get that the stranger he once killed was his father and that he married his
own mother.
When Aristotle argues that tragic is brought about not by vice or depravity you can t help but to think
about Oedipus and his character. His impatience, his displeasure at just everything and anything, and
for a minute you question whether he was a good person or someone who was completely driven by
anger. But then all of those

White Men Vs White Women Essay
Over the history of the United States, we have freed slaves, granted citizenship to people of color,
given women the right to vote, and made many other changes to improve civil rights. Unfortunately,
even today, we are belittling people of different races or genders. We have not abolished the race and
gender laws inside ourselves. Overall, our society has made it harder for some races and genders to
have better social mobility than white men, and sometimes, they never do rise up in wealth, all
because they are a certain race or gender. Most genders and races, because many people think they can
take advantage of other racial and gender groups than any white men, have less respect than white
men.
We may think that we now treat all people equally, but we are simply lying to ourselves. When we see

Woodrow Wilson saw the end of the Great War as an opportunity to attempt to remake the World and

Not all of Truman s efforts for U.S. intervention were as fruitful for the U.S. internationally or

Educating Students For A Global Society
The twenty first century seemed light years away when I was in high school. It feels like we blinked
and suddenly we have arrived. With the dawn of this new century, the face of education is changing.
We have to prepare students for a global society. Our test scores show that American education reform
is not just a want but also a necessity. The diverse communities within our classrooms have forced us
to reevaluate best practices to meet the needs of our students. Collaborative teaching is one way to
meet the needs of students of all skill levels. Co teaching allows for differentiated instruction that will

that the needs of all lessons are presented in a way that will reach students. Today s classrooms have
many different challenges, and working with a colleague to meet those challenges is far superior to
working in isolation, as teachers frequently do (Dove). Planning together is key to ensuring that all
students will have access to the curriculum. That old saying, two heads are better than one rings true
in collaborative teaching. Teachers will learn from each other s expertise and expand the scope of their

opportunity to observe good teaching practices. Teachers are often very isolated. They don t get the

Curling History
Since curling was invented in the late medieval times, there is no specific inventor. The first written
evidence appeared in Latin, by John McQuhin when he recorded a challenge about throwing stones
across the ice between John Sclater, a monk at Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, and Gavin Hamilton, a
representative in February of 1541. The report indicated that Sclater threw a stone along the ice three
times before he agreed to a contest. This event took place in Scotland which is where curling first
originated. Therefore, this is considered to be how curling began and, the people involved. The
purpose of the game is to score points by getting your stones closer to the center of the house before
the other team. The path of the stone is influenced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each player delivers two stones, in consecutive order at each end, while alternating with an opponent.
Teams declare its delivery rotation, and the skip and vice skip positions, prior to the start of a game
and maintain that rotation and those positions throughout the game. If a player is missing at the start of
a game, the team may either start the game with three players or use a qualified alternate. A team may
not play with fewer than three players. In competitions where alternates are allowed, only one
alternate can be registered and used in that competition. Each team has a total of eight stones and play
up to eight ends, when you get into the higher tournaments you play ten ends. Ends are completed
when all eight rocks from each team have been played. If the teams are tied at the end of the game,
they keep playing to however many ends it takes to break the tie. Delivering is where the skip
determines how much power they need, how much to rotate the stone, and the direction to throw. This
process requires the skip to slide the stone down the sheet. Before the delivery, the surface of the stone
and the path across must be wiped clean. Any dirt can slow and alter the shot. The thrower shoots the
rock from the hack. The thrower s shoes that don t have a slider on it is placed in the hack. For
example, if you re a right hand curler your right foot is placed against the left side of the hack. When
in the hack the thrower lines the body up with their shoulders square to the skip s broom at the other
end of the sheet. Places the stone in front of the hack, and rises slowly pulling the stone back towards
the hack. Then push off the hack into a lunge position, moving the slider foot in front and the other
shoe behind. To help balance you have the rock in your good hand and, the free hand you have your
broom. The stone is released by a clockwise or counter clockwise twist from the handle, starting at

The Work Ethic And Value Of Trader Joe s As A Company
Introduction This paper is intended to explore the work ethic and value of Trader Joe s as a company
and their employees. Hands on top managers have always been insistent in the company. Now, CEO
Dan Bane created the values to reflect on the original traditions of its founder. When reading through
the accomplishments of this grocery store, I was pleasantly surprised that they have managed to keep
their integrity during their growth. Being a customer at Trader Joe s myself, I find myself thinking
about all the good experiences I have had every time I visited the store. Trader Joe s has grown from a
mom and pop grocery to a worldwide chain. Their integrity for selling a good product at a good price
with great customer has proven them to be one of the grocery stores to be in high completion with
other retailers in their genre. Their focus on giving their customers the options of different goods and
the smiling faces of their friendly employees has risen them to a higher level of grocery shopping.

Health In Latin America Essay
Developing countries in Latin America have made important strides in the areas of education,
modernization, and most importantly health care. However, these budding nations are still in the
process of making health care affordable and accessible to all citizens. In some countries, health care
has become a basic human right. Further, policy makers and state governments play a pivotal role in
what health care resources they dole out, how such resources should be distributed, and to whom the
resources will accessible. Precisely, then, health care in Latin America is so contentious marginalized
populations remain underserved and excluded from essential health care resources and services.
Specifically, indigenous populations in Colombia and México are indicative of the failure of policy
makers and state governments in increasing outreach efforts to ensure that such populations receive
adequate health care. More importantly, women and girls are at a greater disadvantage for a variety of
reasons. One reason for this is that in some indigenous cultures, health care for women/girls is seen as

Celebrities Have a Moral Responsibility to Be Good Role...
Celebrities have a moral responsibility to be good role models for the society, would you agree?
First of all by using the dictionary the main definitions can be broken down; the definition for a
celebrity is a famous or well known person . The definition of moral responsibility is the idea that a
person has moral obligations in certain situations. The definition of a good role model is a person
whose behaviour, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.
Our opinion as a group is that every human being has a moral responsibility towards society although
celebrities tend to have the upper hand when it comes down to being good role models. Our three
arguments for this topic would be: First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also there is Chris Gardner the inspiration for the movie Pursuit of Happiness .
Our third argument is Celebrities influence the youth of today . The youth of today are much
modernised, instead of reading books of history and relating to the heroes of yesterday, they tend to
watch movies, TV shows and make the celebrities the hero of today. The main reason why the youth
especially make celebrities their role models is because at one point of time in their life they want to
become like those role models, they want to have same amount of fame, they want to be popular and
loved amongst others like the role models. Some of them get inspired so much that they even want to
look exactly like the role models. For example: Harman Badeja a fairly new Indian movie star got so
Inspired by Hritik Roshan a superstar in Bollywood, that he has made his face and hair look exactly
like him.
Having stated all the above points, our counter argument is celebrities cannot always be considered as
good role models . Some of the actions committed by the celebrities can be inappropriate and a very
bad influence for the general population/audience. Henceforth why there is a censor board in place.
The censor board is there to prevent celebrities showing or anything which can be classified as
harmful for the audience. They try their best to make celebrities pure in front of the audience, yet still

Sir Robert Chiltern And Lady Gertrude Chiltern
Contrariwise, non Aesthetes including Sir Robert Chiltern and Lady Gertrude Chiltern are characters
to which they behave restrictively as a consequence from their obligations to societal decorum
expectations of the Victorian English elite class. In comparison to the natural characters of Lord
Arthur Goring and Mrs Laura Cheveley, the impact of Aestheticism is to tragicomically ridicule Sir
Robert Chiltern and Lady Gertrude Chiltern actions that cultivate from the play complications to
incontestably criticise the impact of Victorian English customs. Their actions are either discerningly
counselled or manipulatively blackmailed by the Aesthetes who because of their deliberate autonomy
from the ruling beau monde as shaped by Aestheticism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through this that Wilde depicts him as cowardly and hence easily swindled by both Mrs Cheveley
and Lady Chiltern. He is constrained by societal strictures where he suppresses his dubiety in the
presence of Lady Chiltern by obeying her prompts to decline support for the scheme to temporarily
appease trepidation of them drifting apart (1.6). He further distracts her suspicions by stating there is
nothing in my past life that you might not know (1.6) to veil the immorality in his supremacy of
success. Similarly, in Act 2 Scene 1, Sir Chiltern seeks Lord Goring to unravel his confusion for
integrity when the fate of his perfect public and private life become indistinct. Lord Goring influences
Sir Chiltern s outlooks by airily stating everyone has some weak point. There is some flaw in each of
us and that he must begin by telling your wife the whole thing (2.1). Lord Goring explains that Sir
Chiltern should not be easily influenced by aristocratic morality and accept his pastimes to resolute his
internal. Hence, it is from this male bonding that Sir Chiltern is constrained by social obligations but
establishes trust in Lord Goring s mannerism shaped by Aestheticism and is inclined to reconstruct his
restricted formalities.
Furthermore, Wilde illustrates Sir Chiltern

Spastic Diplegia Research Paper
Haley Hereld
Spastic Diplegia
Introduction Spastic Diplegia can briefly be described as a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects the
lower extremities. It is a neurological condition that appears early in life. I chose to do my research
over this condition because of a very special little girl in my life named Brenna. Right before Brenna
turned three years old she was officially diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia. This was a diagnosis I had
never heard of so when I began researching and found that Spastic Diplegia was a type of Cerebral
Palsy I was confused because Brenna does not portray the characteristics of other Cerebral Palsy
patients I have witnessed before. I have, since then, learned that there are different types of Cerebral
Palsy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person with this diagnosis will see a variety of health care providers throughout their life. Some of
these may be Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Neurologists. Physical Therapists will
help each patient to learn how to be as functional as possible with their condition. Many patients will
have to walk with an assistive device or even wear a leg brace. Gait training is very important for
patients with Spastic Diplegia. Patients that are diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia can have complete
paralysis or muscle weakness in both lower extremities. This often results in asymmetries on the right
or left lower extremity. Therefore, when a person with Spastic Diplegia walks they will repeat
movements irregularly, and this can lead to them developing secondary disabilities. 6(p1) A person
with Spastic Diplegia can expect to see a Physical Therapist on and off for their life due to the fact that
physical therapy can help them in so many different ways. Some doctors are prescribing certain
medications, such as muscle relaxers, to help with spastic muscles or even giving their patients Botox
injections in the tight muscles. This is a form of treatment that Brenna is now undergoing. The Botox
shot is injected into the tight muscles and is supposed to help these muscles be able to relax. The
words Cerebral Palsy and Spastic Diplegia can be very scary when they are used to diagnose

Scoring Atopic Eczema
The Children s dermatology life quality index (CDLQI) is used to measure the impact of eczema on
children s (five years or older) quality of life over the previous seven days (Ben Gashir et al., 2004).
There are two different versions of this, a pictorial cartoon or a word document version. The total
score is calculated by summing the scores from each question, with a maximum score of 30 and
minimum of 0 where a higher score indicates more impairment in quality of life. There are six
dimensions that it measures; symptoms and feelings, leisure, school or holidays, personal
relationships, treatment and sleep. This questionnaire is chosen to be used in this study as it includes a

School age children and adolescents in the control group should have a decrease in self esteem as well
as quality of life as result of going through puberty. However, because of this natural process, the
decline should not be significant. If the results from the factorial ANOVA are significant for the
eczema group, it should indicate a decline in quality of life as the eczema patient matures; this trend
should also be present for self esteem. As a result of this, severity should have a significant increase.
Proxy rating from caregivers in the eczema group should also show the same trends as child rating.
Control group proxy ratings should also show the same trends as child rating.
Hierarchical regression should reveal that quality of life is significant predictor of severity. When self
esteem is added in the second step, it should still be a significant relationship. Overall, if results agree
with the hypothesis it should show that as eczema patients matures, quality of life will decrease, self
esteem will also decrease which will increase the severity of the

Greek Virtues
The ancient Greeks had a philosophy when it came to behavior and showing high moral standards in
their society. Two Greek philosophers known as Plato and Aristotle compiled virtues that were valued
in the Greek society. These virtues began with Plato s original four which included wisdom, courage,
moderation, and justice. Later Aristotle would add an additional twelve virtues which two courage and
justice were already part of the original four, these were temperance, liberality, magnificence, pride,
honor, good temper, friendliness, truthfulness, wit, and friendship. Combined Ancient Greeks had a

Language Dominates Society People take the idea of thought for granted. When a person thinks they
use language to create an idea in the mind. A human cannot talk to another human and convey that
thought if there is no language. If the government, an organization, or an individual takes control of
the language they could systematically degrade communication and control people s thoughts. They
could take out words, combine words or change the meaning of them which is what happened in 1984.

A very brief insight into the Company: * Merloni Elettrodomestici SpA is an Italian company based in
Fabriano and is one of Europe s biggest makers of domestic appliances. * During the period from
1984 to 1986, Merloni undertook a number of initiatives to improve efficiency in inventory control
and logistics. * One such initiative was the transit point experiment where in the Milano region,
regional distribution centre was eliminated in favor of transit points which held zero inventory.

Advantages for Cross docking: * Cost saving in terms of infrastructure cost of regional warehouses
and their maintenance. * Lesser amounts of overall inventory to be maintained * Lesser labor
requirements due to closure of regional warehouses * Effect of bullwhip is lowered due to elimination
of regional warehouses.
Disadvantages for Cross docking: * Because the regional warehouses will be eliminated, the capacity
storage of the central warehouses should be expanded to meet the requirements of the extra Cycle
inventory. * Intensive planning of daily shipment should be done (calculation of exact amount of
goods to be shipped and arrangement of the goods) * Due to intensive planning, more skilled
administration staff would be required. * If the customer does not order before 3pm, the delivery of
the product would happen only after the second day. This can hamper customer satisfaction. * Since
no inventory is maintained at near by locations, the goods will have to be fetched from central
warehouse thereby increasing lead time. * Demand variability is not easily supported by employing
Transit Point methodology. If there is an urgent demand for goods in excess of truckload capacity then
it can lead to huge additional cost. * If any of the vehicles break down it could lead to huge delays and
pile up of demand. Merloni needs to keep some extra vehicles as a backup, which needs to

What do you mean I can t stay with her? I yelled at the woman behind the front desk.
I am sorry, sir. We aren t allowed to let you stay. The clerk stood tall, and her words were firm. The
other residents may find discomfort knowing there is a non afflicted person living in our quarters.
I continued to yell. I extended my arm towards my wife. She needs me!
Sir, I am sorry, but I am just not allowed to let you stay.
My wife walked up to the desk. She placed her hand gently on the counter. Her fingers were bound by
skin so that only her thumb was mobile. Please, ma am. Not only do I need him, but he needs me.
Please.
The clerk s previous presence faded. She began typing into her computer. Her hands shook and her
voice cracked when she said, your room is on the third floor. She handed me the key.

Since it was difficult for her to walk with the skin that immobilized her toes, I guided my wife
delicately through the halls. I held her elbow, since she wasn t able to hold my hand anymore.

followed along the wall, blinded by the skin covering their eyes. Others bowed their heads at us in
greeting, unable to speak due to the skin that connected their lips.

The Boxing Day Tsunami And The Real World Tsunami
Tsunamis are unfortunate events that humanity will have to deal with for eternity. They one of the
most versatile forms of a natural disaster, as they can be caused by a rockslide, underwater earthquake,
certain volcanic eruptions, or a high velocity impact of a sizeable object within a body of water (1).
The media and scientific research has done a sufficient job in covering real world tsunamis and relief
efforts, which in turn has help trigger natural human curiosity regarding the subject. The film industry
has capitalized off of this, and has made a numerous amount of movies either based on, or featuring
these devastating waves. As depicted through real events and in the movies, tsunamis generally
behave in the same manner, yet each one has a different speed and height due to various factors.
Furthermore, every location of possible impact treats the way they prepare and react to a disaster
differently. Through the examination of the real life Boxing Day Tsunami, and the fictional tsunami in
Roar Uthaug s The Wave, these claims can be further expanded upon and reinforced.
December 26, 2004 is a date that will live in infamy, and has personal value for millions of people
around the world. What started out as a fine day in Southeast Asia, would turn into a catastrophic
nightmare that would go on to be dubbed the Boxing Day Tsunami. The tsunami was triggered by an

thought provoking question grabs the listener s attention by compelling them to think. John Lennon
was and in memory, still continues to be a leader in the effort to reach world peace. His songs asking

emotions in people from all over the world. Leading straight to the point, the minimalistic style and up

He is repetitive in the fact that he begins each verse with Imagine... and ends each verse with Imagine

his point to genuinely imagine what things would be like by reiterating it over and over. This forces
the listeners, to recognize the importants and to continuously feel the emotion resulting in them really
thinking about the changes that could be made in the world. While it has been thirty five years since
the assassination of John Lennon, his beliefs and music have endured the test of time and continue to
influence people today. His effective use of ethos, logos, and pathos work together to help catch the
attention of the listeners and enable them to feel as though there is something they can do to further
Lennon s cause. Using credibility, logic and emotion this song was successful in the way that it
definitely caught people s attention world wide and still causes a great deal of emotions decades after
it was written. Music has been and always will be an important part of people s lives, it makes them
feel some sort of emotions. I think this song was successful in the areas of ethos, logos and pathos and
will definitely continue to be a memorable song for even more decades to come. After all, John
Lennon was never a public speaker or politician, but he still was able to get his message across

explore the influence of Enlightenment; the impact of non conformists; the role of individuals and
resistance from slaves themselves. Additionally, it will look at the attitudes concerning the Atlantic

about slavery were surfacing in the mid eighteenth century.
Protestant Evangelicalism was powered by enlightened thinking. As DVD 2 highlights, missionaries
such as William Knibb, were influential in promoting Christianity. Slavery obstructed this process.
William Wilberforce, an evangelical member of parliament featured prominently in the DVD, his
work towards the gradual emancipation was significant, however the interview does point out that the
programme omits profound individuals such as Thomas Clarkson, who was a central leader of the anti
slavery movement.(DVD 2)
An anti slavery sentiment had developed and sects emerged from Evangelicalism. Despite
disagreements on certain doctrinal topics, there was a general consensus between the sects that all men
were equal before God, equal in sin and their potential for redemption. This was particularly
significant within the anti slavery movement as it highlighted slavery as problematic and obstructive
towards Christian morals. In 1787, A committee united individuals from different classes in society,
such as tradesmen and upper class evangelicals. This Committee met in London with the purpose of
establishing A Society for effecting the abolition of the slave trade This is significant as it highlights

weeks of starving. We were shaken from what we saw. We ran. We ran to the nearest closet and hid
inside. A cleaning supplies closet is where I hoped we would end up. There are many valuable tools to

Why Is Albrecht Durer Essay
No single man can be taken as a model for a perfect figure, for no man lives on earth who is endowed
with the whole of beauty. ~Albrecht Dürer. Albrecht Durer was thought of as the greatest German
Renaissance artist. His work includes altarpieces, portraits and self portraits, engravings, and

German Renaissance artist Albrecht Durer was born May 21, 1471, in
Nuremberg. He was one of 18 children born (only three of whom survived to adulthood). His parents
were Albrecht and Barbara Dürer. Albrecht Dürer the Elder married Barbara Holper, the daughter of
his master when he himself became a master in 1467. Albrecht the younger s father after whom he was
named was a successful goldsmith of Hungarian heritage, and young Albrecht jr. apprenticed with him
before deciding on an artistic career instead. One of Albrecht s brothers, Hans Dürer, was also a
painter and trained under him. Another of Albrecht s brothers, Endres Dürer, took over their father s
business and was a master goldsmith. Albrecht s silverpoint Self Portrait, of 1484 is the earliest,

Capital Punishment Analysis
In the United States, decisions on capital punishment are made by members of a jury. Jurors must
acquire a majority verdict in order to sentence an accused to death. Although jurors are asked to be
objective, their decisions are, however, more often influenced by values than facts (Devine and Kelly,
393). In fact, based on the Capital Jury Project (CJP) which include 1,200 interviews of jurors who
served in 353 death penalty trials in 14 states (Devine and Kelly, 393), Dennis J. Devine and
Christopher E. Kelly used 314 CJP juries to conduct a bivariate and multivariate analyses to

method, other researchers Bowers, Steiner, and Sandys found out that

Human Suffering And Media Analysis
In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform where the
encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where the public becomes aware
of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far away from their immediate locale
(Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have expanded the field of view of the spectator, the
mediated encounter with the distant sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993)
between the scene of suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. This
paradox has raised a number of moral and ethical considerations. The question at the heart of the
debate is to what extent the new visibility of the other can in fact ... Show more content on

Taking a normative standpoint, Silverstone maintains that the media should function as a public space
that works for the human condition and not against it (2007: 33), a moral space that promotes the
inclusion and care of the other. This cosmopolitan disposition towards the other, especially in the
context of distant suffering, can then become the foundation of transnational solidarity and of the
pursuit of justice overall (Silverstone, 2007). Silverstone advocates for the media to adopt specific
representational principles that foster this sort of cosmopolitan engagement. In particular, he proposes

An Extreme Sense Of Nationalism In The United States
Being born into a country creates a sense of connection between person and land. Most often people
tend to feel this as pride in their country and that s defined as being patriotic but what if patriotism
goes further? This extreme sense of patriotism exists and is known as nationalism. Nationalism is
known to cloud the thoughts of many people, including high ranked country officials. Such clouded
judgements occurs, that many argue it covers the thoughts of nationalist country officials so often that
it can even create war. Is it true that War has a hunger for nationalism? Although many people argue
that nationalism cannot be the cause of international conflicts, nationalism can and is the cause of
many international conflicts because nationalism causes sense of pride and greed that, if broken, could
have prevented the start of wars, nationalism also builds up to resentment of other countries that
allows war to seem like the only answer and although other factors may set the idea of a conflict,
nationalism fuels it further into complete war. Nationalism is defined as an extreme patriotic feeling
marked by a feeling of superiority over other countries but in terms of how nationalism makes
someone act, that can be answered in two simple words: Greedy and prideful. ... Show more content

If Mexico s pride hadn t allowed them to warn the U.S of war if annexation occurred, then the
annexation of Texas wouldn t have seemed greedy. If Mexico could have swallowed their pride and
accept defeat with Texas, then they wouldn t have warned the U.S. If they allowed anyone to take over
Texas then Polk would ve just taken over Texas and that s that. But unfortunately for the U.S, Mexico
was prideful and in doubt when they acted upon emotions, which led the greed of the U.S come out.
So yes, greed from the president came out but it came out when the pride of Mexico drew a line for

Essay about Business Internships
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in
the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today s
world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works
while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the
internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other
things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or not this
line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are highly
interested in it really helps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason alone is a great reason as to why all business schools should build a strong internship
program.
An internship is no good if you do not make it work. Thus making the internship work for you is very
important. To start out the student must want to direct their full attention to the internship because the
internship is pretty much starting out their future. First impressions are usually suppose to be good so
a student should not go into an internship thinking that it is going to be easy and that they can just
blow through it. Internships should be beneficial for the students and the employer s. The internship
program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the companies in which
they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the firm in which you
might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do. Sitting behind a desk
all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out when there are positive
people surrounding the student intern. For an internship to work, the firm s principals must be
available to supervise and teach. (Berger 30) The student intern will usually have lots of questions and
if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions and correct their mistakes
then the internship will be quite beneficial.
There are legal concerns that come along with internships that the

The University Of North Carolina At Wilmington
Statistics show that after high school, many graduates tend to end their education. Many people do not
choose to continue their education and attend college. My goal is to not be a part of this statistic. After
I graduate from Wayne Early Middle College High School with my high school diploma and my two
year Associate in Science degree, I hope to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
According to newly released facts by the Business Journal, the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington was ranked as one of the top 50 business schools in the nation. This influences my desire
to attend even more as I plan to major in business administration. People have different reasons for
choosing their majors in college. I want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of this list, I chose UNC W for a number of reasons. The main reason I chose this school was the
location. UNC W is centered in one of the largest cities in North Carolina. Within just a few miles,
there is access to the beach and there is access to a flourishing city. Wilmington is also known for its
breathtaking landscape. Being only an hour and a half from Goldsboro, I can quickly get home if
needed. The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is known for its size, for the price
reasonability, and for the Cameron School of Business. Upon acceptance to UNC W, I plan to attend
the Cameron School of Business. In this area, you can specialize in different aspects such as
accounting, marketing, and human resource. The Cameron School of Business also has contact to an
organization called the Cameron Executive Network. This is a program where retired and current
senior executives mentor students in the business school. The size of UNC W is very reasonable. In
the fall 2014 semester, there were 14,611 students, both graduate and undergraduate, enrolled. The
student faculty ratio is 16:1. The cost of attending UNC W is very sensible, as the annual budget for

Theory Of Planned Behavior Paper
The key predisposing factor that influences homeless veteran s poor choice of diet is their perceived
lack of control. For this reason, the constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) can be used
to help understand and determine the beliefs that stimulate this behavior. Previous studies have shown
that homeless veterans exhibit constant worry over perceived lack of control in regards to diet choice
(Rojas Guyler et al., 2014), and perceived control is a major construct of the TPB. The TPB asserts
that intention and perceptions of capability will govern the likelihood that individuals will execute a
particular behavior (McDermott et al., 2015). Consequently, homeless veterans will display a strong
intention to eat the recommended daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, an effective intervention targeting the identified constructs (perceived control, self efficacy,
and social support) should be created to change homeless veterans eating behaviors. One possible
intervention would be ten week educational workshops that include diabetes screening protocols, job
opportunities, cooking sessions, and resume and a cover letter session. At the end of the intervention,
environmental changes such as temporary homes for homeless veterans would be provided. Before the
intervention can be carried out, the intervention program would be promoted using various forms of
advertisements. For instance, the program would be advertised through flyers, brochures, bridge signs,
and posters throughout the community (e.g., grocery stores, bars, VA facilities, homeless shelters, and
clinics). In terms of where the program would take place, a large workshop space such as the YMCA
or VA facilities would be rented. Space would include offices, cooking areas (include cooking
materials), and classrooms equipped with computers, paper, writing utensils, printers, fax machine,
telephone, etc. Members of the community, as well as veterans, would be employed as staff. The staff
would also include a nutritionist/dietitian, a nurse practitioner, a yoga instructor, and a motivational
speaker who would end each workshop session. Also,

car in park and seemed more concerned about tying her shoelaces than the test or her serious situation.
Questions which often arise when determining if someone is driving under the influence are: Does the
person answer the officer s question or exhibit a stream of consciousness talking that bears no relation
to the question? Does the person appear to be disheveled or unable to stay alert? (Gaensslen, R.E.,

The Cataract Pre Op Surgery Process

Kathryn and Robyn had a few comments regarding the current packet of information given to patients
at the Bellevue GHC in the ophthalmology department (personal communication, November 2, 2015).
They stated the information contains too much bold print, is disorganized, and too extensive. They
indicated they collaborated in producing plain language products for other departments within GHC.
They query as to where they could be of most benefit. Contact for further instrumentation will be
made next year. Their remarks were valuable.

Analysis Of The Opposite Of Loneliness By Marina Keegan
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to read. A lot. When assigned to write this letter, I continued
that trend by searching for relevant events you have been a part of, so I could connect my findings to
the books I read. Evidently, from this lackluster introduction, I was unsuccessful in that pursuit. It s
not that I don t have anything to say about the work you do, it s just that I don t think I m qualified to
tell you how to run a country, in particular, through the implied euphemisms of a book that you
probably studied in your universities literature class. However, this is not to say I haven t learned
anything from my reading, in fact, there is one specific book have made a point of reading and re
reading every few months. It s titled The Opposite of Loneliness, written by a young woman named
Marina Keegan. Marina aspired to be a journalist before she died in a car accident only a few days
after her Commencement from Yale. It s not necessarily the actual book that has lyrical meaning, but it
is the story behind the book. She is the greatest writer I have ever read. Seriously. Ever since I picked

Kids are stuck with massive student loans because they can take anything they wish including degrees
that don t lead to jobs. The result is that university graduates fill community colleges, nearly 50% in
Toronto, to learn employable skills. In Canada, youth unemployment is officially 12.6%, but in some
parts of the country such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, it is 18%. Meanwhile, Alberta and
Saskatchewan and mining regions are begging for welders, laborers, engineer technologists,
machinery operators and many other skilled tradesmen. The mismatch of having inappropriately
educated kids in the major cities and jobs that only foreigners can fill in other parts of Canada is
partially a product of our education system. It costs us, in the simplest terms, GDP (if you care about

Evidence of brand switchers was shown by the majority of survey respondents who browse a variety of brands and styles when purchasing eyewear. From their origins to 1500, the attitudes of both Christian and Muslims toward trade shifted as conditions in the Christian and Islamic worlds changed. In the beginning, Christian attitudes were more negative, while Muslims tended to encourage and respect trade and merchants. Over time, Muslims became more like early Christians in that they were suspicious of traders whereas the Christians became more like the early Muslims, equating merchants (at least honest ones) with doing God s work, reflecting the changed importance of trade in the high Middle Ages in Europe. At their origins, Christians and Muslims had different views about merchants and traders. This can be seen in the first two documents which are excerpts from the holy books of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commerce is the increasing of capital by buying goods and attempting to sell them at a price higher than their cost. Waiting for a rise in the market price or by transporting the goods to another place where they are more keenly demanded. It is necessary to have enough initial capital to pay in cash the sellers from whom one buys goods, to sell for cash as honesty. Dishonesty leads on the one hand to fraud and the adulteration of goods and on the other to delays on payment which diminish profits because capital remains idle during the interval. (Document 5, fourteen century Universal History.) Evasiveness, litigation and disputation, all of which are characteristics of the profession and qualities lead to a decrease and weakening in virtue which can mistaken as bias because some may say this persona to commerce makes one a human being. This shows a much more respectful view towards merchants and may reflect the fact that Muhammad, the founder of Islam was a merchant himself. Since this question is about attitudes about trade it would be more complete with documents portraying the views of more groups. For example, letters from Muslim merchants would allow us to examine that group s view about trade. Documents from Orthodox Christians would give a more complete picture of the attitudes of Christianity. Collection records from Muslim mosques or Christian churches would allow us to compare how each benefited from merchants and so be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Choice of clothing and eating habits, in no way, allow you to pass judgment on a person. Judging people based on these factors is extremely shallow. What one wears and eats in no way depicts character, behavior, or even intelligence. One simply cannot know a person by looking at them and observing what they eat. Such a thought is ridiculous. Overall, our society has made it harder for some races and genders to have better social mobility than white men, and sometimes, they never do rise up in wealth, all because they are a certain race or gender. • 25. Spastic Diplegia Research Paper Haley Hereld Spastic Diplegia Introduction Spastic Diplegia can briefly be described as a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects the lower extremities. It is a neurological condition that appears early in life. I chose to do my research over this condition because of a very special little girl in my life named Brenna. Right before Brenna turned three years old she was officially diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia. This was a diagnosis I had never heard of so when I began researching and found that Spastic Diplegia was a type of Cerebral Palsy I was confused because Brenna does not portray the characteristics of other Cerebral Palsy patients I have witnessed before. I have, since then, learned that there are different types of Cerebral Palsy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person with this diagnosis will see a variety of health care providers throughout their life. Some of these may be Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Neurologists. Physical Therapists will help each patient to learn how to be as functional as possible with their condition. Many patients will have to walk with an assistive device or even wear a leg brace. Gait training is very important for patients with Spastic Diplegia. Patients that are diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia can have complete paralysis or muscle weakness in both lower extremities. This often results in asymmetries on the right or left lower extremity. Therefore, when a person with Spastic Diplegia walks they will repeat movements irregularly, and this can lead to them developing secondary disabilities. 6(p1) A person with Spastic Diplegia can expect to see a Physical Therapist on and off for their life due to the fact that physical therapy can help them in so many different ways. Some doctors are prescribing certain medications, such as muscle relaxers, to help with spastic muscles or even giving their patients Botox injections in the tight muscles. This is a form of treatment that Brenna is now undergoing. The Botox shot is injected into the tight muscles and is supposed to help these muscles be able to relax. However, because of this natural process, the decline should not be significant. As a result of this, severity should have a significant increase. Proxy rating from caregivers in the eczema group should also show the same trends as child rating. Control group proxy ratings should also show the same trends as child rating. Hierarchical regression should reveal that quality of life is significant predictor of severity. Advantages for Cross docking: * Cost saving in terms of infrastructure cost of regional warehouses and their maintenance. * Lesser amounts of overall inventory to be maintained * Lesser labor requirements due to closure of regional warehouses * Effect of bullwhip is lowered due to elimination of regional warehouses. Human Suffering And Media Analysis In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform where the encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where the public becomes aware of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far away from their immediate locale (Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have expanded the field of view of the spectator, the mediated encounter with the distant sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993) between the scene of suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. This paradox has raised a number of moral and ethical considerations. The question at the heart of the debate is to what extent the new visibility of the other can in fact ... Silverstone advocates for the media to adopt specific representational principles that foster this sort of cosmopolitan engagement. In particular, he proposes the notion of proper distance , a theoretical principle that captures the dialectical coexistence between the common humanity of the other and his irreducible difference (Silverstone, 2007). Such clouded judgements occurs, that many argue it covers the thoughts of nationalist country officials so often that it can even create war. Is it true that War has a hunger for nationalism? Although many people argue that nationalism cannot be the cause of international conflicts, nationalism can and is the cause of many international conflicts because nationalism causes sense of pride and greed that, if broken, could have prevented the start of wars, nationalism also builds up to resentment of other countries that allows war to seem like the only answer and although other factors may set the idea of a conflict, nationalism fuels it further into complete war. At the end of the intervention, environmental changes such as temporary homes for homeless veterans would be provided. Before the intervention can be carried out, the intervention program would be promoted using various forms of advertisements. For instance, the program would be advertised through flyers, brochures, bridge signs, and posters throughout the community (e.g., grocery stores, bars, VA facilities, homeless shelters, and clinics). In terms of where the program would take place, a large workshop space such as the YMCA or VA facilities would be rented. Space would include offices, cooking areas (include cooking materials), and classrooms equipped with computers, paper, writing utensils, printers, fax machine, telephone, etc. Members of the community, as well as veterans, would be employed as staff. The staff would also include a nutritionist/dietitian, a nurse practitioner, a yoga instructor, and a motivational speaker who would end each workshop session. Also, ... When stopped, the motorist seemed uncertain of what she was doing and where she was. I don t know, she replied when asked how much she had to drink. She was barely able to put the car in park and seemed more concerned about tying her shoelaces than the test or her serious situation. Questions which often arise when determining if someone is driving under the influence are: Does the person answer the officer s question or exhibit a stream of consciousness talking that bears no relation to the question? Does the person appear to be disheveled or unable to stay alert? (Gaensslen, R.E., Larsen 2010: 122). The woman in the video exhibited all of these red flag signs. However, the officer s use of the field sobriety tests indicates that even when intoxication may seem obvious it is still necessary to establish DUI with objective sources of information. The ability of the driver to perform the tests assigned The driver was barely able to stand, much less able to walk a straight line. Even before the test was performed, the woman clearly seemed drunk and the attitude of the officer indicated that he knew this. • 49. Analysis Of The Opposite Of Loneliness By Marina Keegan Over the summer, I had the opportunity to read. A lot. When assigned to write this letter, I continued that trend by searching for relevant events you have been a part of, so I could connect my findings to the books I read. Evidently, from this lackluster introduction, I was unsuccessful in that pursuit. It s not that I don t have anything to say about the work you do, it s just that I don t think I m qualified to tell you how to run a country, in particular, through the implied euphemisms of a book that you probably studied in your universities literature class. However, this is not to say I haven t learned anything from my reading, in fact, there is one specific book have made a point of reading and re reading every few months. It s titled The Opposite of Loneliness, written by a young woman named Marina Keegan. Marina aspired to be a journalist before she died in a car accident only a few days after her Commencement from Yale. It s not necessarily the actual book that has lyrical meaning, but it is the story behind the book. She is the greatest writer I have ever read. Seriously. Ever since I picked The Opposite ...
