Sustainable Marketing Plan For A Client
Sustainable marketing is the process of creating, communicating and delivering value to customers
in such a way that both natural and human capital are preserved or enhanced throughout Martin and
Schouten (2013)
This paper will outline the sustainable marketing plan for a client. As the marketing consultant I
will first analyse the organisation and its stakeholders2 and will offer a market report on this
company, before putting a final report together (which will follow this initial paper).

Confucianism, Daoism, And Legalism In Evergreen Middle School
Introduction Confucius once said, oppressive government is fiercer and more feared than a tiger
(Source #2.) Confucianism is one of the three main Chinese philosophies created during the warring
states period, a time when rulers fought others for more power and land. Another philosophy
created during the same period was Daoism. Daoism was created by Laozi. Some Daoism beliefs
include that harmony with nature leads to peace and happiness and that one should accept
whatever happens. The other main Chinese philosophy was Legalism. Per http://www.ancient.eu
/Legalism, Legalism in ancient Chinawas a philosophical belief that human beings are more inclined
to do wrong that right because they are motivated entirely by self interest. In addition, Legalism
governments have a set of laws with strict punishments if you disobey them. Out of the three,
Confucianismhas the most benefits and would be best to be used to operate Evergreen Middle
School.

For example, per Source #1, Confucius s values included respecting tradition, reverence for
ancestors, and he honored scholars. Since Confucius had these values, they are part of
Confucianism beliefs. With these values, students at Evergreen Middle School would respect their
teachers and traditions at Evergreen. To add on, Confucianism teaches good character. For
example, per Source #2, Confucius s goal was to make people better in their lifetime. He was also
teaching a system of moral conduct. Having Confucianism at Evergreen Middle School will inspire
students to have attitudes that are full of goodness and kindness. To wrap up, Confucianism at
Evergreen Middle School would give the result of students with good values and

Informative Down Syndrome
Formative #2 Down Syndrome is a medical condition that causes a delay in how a child
develops, both mentally and physically. Each year, about 6,000 babies are born with Down
Syndrome (DS), which is about 1 in 700 babies born. The cause of DS is unknown, meaning
scientists don t know how people get it, but we do know how it happens after the diagnosis. A
baby is usually born with 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent. Most likely is a DS case, the
child has 47 chromosomes and has an extra chromosome21 . The extra genetic material is why
children get DS, but scientists don t know how it happens. Down Syndromecannot be prevented, but
it can be detected before birth. Many health problems that happen because of DS can be treated, but

Commodity Fetishism and Its Impact on Contemporary Society...
What is commodity fetishism as defined by cultural and media theorists? Identify and analyse three
images that demonstrate the way commodity fetishism is impacting on contemporary society and
culture.
Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange.
(Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the
idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken
Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The idea of a commodity culture has been described by media theorist
Stuart Ewen as a commodity self. He believes that we are constructed through our relationship with
and use of commodities in our everyday lives. Karl Marx ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only does it allow the development of a broader social context of devaluing labour, making it
hard for workers to take pride in their work but it also allows consumers to remain ignorant of
working conditions. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 280) This image is an example of commodity
fetishism because it is essentially a process of mystification that not only empties commodities of
the meaning of their production but also fills them with new, appealing meaning. (Sturken
Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to
promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a
designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not
purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or
because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school
theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our
sense of history. (Kaplan 2006, p. 105)
Image two is the front cover of a book. It shows chocolate and has been chosen as an example of
commodity fetishism. Chocolate is associated with desire and is a form of pleasure in people s
lives. Chocolate is also a popular gift to give loved ones for birthdays and special occasions.
Chocolate is a symbol of love and comes in many shapes and forms which can suit a variety of
occasions. It is

Trans Fat Persuasive Essay
One can describe trans fat as unhealthy due to the preconceived notion that fat is essentially bad.
Which is correct when moderation isn t put into place by individuals who are in control of their
own diets. Trans fats are mixed in with everyday snacks and there hasn t been much of a benefiting
factor for those who consume them regularly. Health problems such as heart disease are known to
be linked with the product yet is being consumed regularly by a majority of the population. Those
who control their own consumption should be made aware of the harmful factors of trans fatbut
banning trans fat as a whole isn t very realistic. Government ruling to ban trans fat will diminish the

Trans fat surrounds a majority of the American population, within stores and restaurants, but there
are ways to monitor and somewhat avoid the consumption of unhealthy fats. Though according to
source D, entering a store with the intent of coming out with any item considered healthy may
seem like an impossible task. Within the cartoon, there is a prominent emphasis on the idea that
trans fats are in the majority of what we eat and what people are surrounded by regularly. That
may be the case for a majority of individuals who decide to shop conveniently opposed to actual
grocery stores. The term convenience stores means products aren t necessarily comparable to that
of a grocery store. Depending on the person, time available, and willingness to travel to compile a
healthy diet it is essentially based on those factors and should be considered instead of banning
trans fat. Banning trans fat in Hallowell restaurants would be much like the idea that society has no
real ability to make decisions that are benefiting health wise. When in reality, there are guidelines
and certainly many different options available to individuals in need of a healthy alternative than
that of trans

Detailed Overview of HIV Essay
Since the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic 15 years ago, the virus has infected more than 47
million people in the world. With more than 2.2 million deaths in 1998, HIV/AIDS has now
become the fourth leading cause of mortality and its impact is going to increase. Over 95% of all
cases and 95% of AIDS deaths occur in the developing world, mostly among young adults and
increasingly in women.
HIV can be prevented in many ways, but they are not always followed. People die when they don
t play it safe. That s why we have to spread the word on prevention. There are three main ways that
HIV can be spread:
1. sexual intercourse
2. intravenous drugs
3. blood transfusions (which are very rare now because all blood is tested)

foreign cells, almost every cell has been built with certain identification tags, MHC markers. Those
cells carrying antigens, a ?non self? tag, are identified by the immune system. This helps insure that
the immune system does not accidentally try to harm the body.
Lymphocytes
Lymphocytes are white blood cells that patrol the body for non self tags. The number of these
particular cells in the average body is approximately 1 trillion. T cells and B cells make up the two
major categories of lymphocytes.
B cells
Originating from bone marrow, B cells are responsible for the creation of antibodies (see diagram
below). Each B cell creates an antibody, which is specific to an antigen. It is the antibodies that act
upon the non self entity by:
* marking the entity for destruction * directly destroying the foreign organism * blocking viruses
from entering a cell * making cells vulnerable to white blood cell attacks
T cells
T cells are produced in the thymus. Here they mature and learn how to identify foreign entities that
may enter the body. T lymphocytes can form into one of two major types of T cells: helper T cells
and cytotoxic T cells.
Activation of Helper T Cells:
An activated Helper T cell will do several things to contribute in the immune system reaction. They
alert B cells to produce antibodies and stimulate macrophages as well as other lymphocytes.

Summary Of The Movie 1967 Film
This 1967 film is about a college graduate who has an affair with his dads business partners wife.
He then falls for their daughter leading to problems and the climax. With the movie being a little
bit older there are many sound, light, editing, and movement effects that could be fixed. As quick
as 6 minutes and 47 seconds I noticed a bad effect. Ben, the main character s, mother was talking
to the crowd in the house as Ben walks away and goes upstairs. The woman s voice sounds as if
it is the same distance way from the camera as Ben is running away from where the woman was
standing. There was not any fading of her voice as there would be in real life if someone was
walking away from the source of the noise. The voice completely stops after... Show more content

For instance, 36:40 37:58 Mrs. Robinson and Benjamin are having an emotional conversation. This
scene is over a minute long without any cuts made. That created the scene and conversation to be
very boring because we are not shown any of the emotion on the characters faces. If there were cuts
throughout the conversation, the scene would have been made much more interesting and would
have drew in the audience more. Throughout the movie some of the cuts during scenes were
actually pauses. Many transitions were just a few seconds of black screen leaving the audience
sitting there with nothing to look at. On the flip side there were some good transitions done by
using fading. For example, when Benjamin is in the pool they show him laying and fade that to him
with Mrs. Robinson right on top of the other scene. Another good transition they would do to make
the scene more interesting was focusing in and out on certain characters. This effect added emotion

The Proposed Framework, Information Security Human Factor...
The proposed framework, Information Security Human factor framework has two dimensions;
organization employee dimensions. Each dimension has two domains, under the organization
dimension there is environment and management domains. Environment domain relates to cultural
and regulation issues while the management domain is concerned with mainly securitypolicies and
practice of information security. The next dimension is the employee dimension. Preparedness and
responsibility domains are included in this dimension. Preparedness is concerned with security,
education, training and awareness while the responsibility domain is concerned with mainly
employee practice and performance. Figure 2
The proposed framework considers the SCT and previous other research of human factors in
information security. From the proposed Information Security human factor framework, domains of
the proposed framework relate to the SCT factors in a couple of ways. Firstly, the SCT
environmental factors relate to environment and management domains (Organization dimension) of
the proposed framework. Secondly, SCT s cognitive and behavioral factors are in relation with the
employee dimension of the proposed framework.
The proposed framework is further enhanced by mapping factors considered in previous studies
thus identifying subdomains of the four main domains (environment, responsibility, management,
preparedness). The below table lists the domain, human factors and previous studies that

What is a grassland?
Age/grade level: Kindergarten
Michigan Standard(s): PK 2.RI.1. Interact with Internet based resources.
PK 2.RI.2. Use digital resources (e.g., dictionaries, encyclopedias, graphs, graphical organizers) to
locate and interpret information relating to a specific curricular topic, with assistance from
teachers, school library media specialists, parents, or student partners.
Objective(s)/Learner Outcome(s): Students will be able to list characteristics of a grassland and
different animals in it.
Students will be able to properly care for and use the tablets.
Procedure:
1) Intro the intro for this lesson plan is longer since the teacher is giving the background
information needed for this lesson along with the future lessons.
Students are sitting on carpet around the teacher. This lesson is to introduce to students the idea of
a grassland and the things that make grasslands different from a different habitat. Along with a brief
introduction of the two different types of grasslands prairies and savannas.

Essay on Artillery and Weapons of the Civil War
Every war, though happens for a reason and bring a better change, is often gruesome. The Civil
War broke America in two groups and, at the time, was the war with the most casualties and injured
men. As the fight to preserve the Union progressed, so did a number of other areas, such as
weaponry and artillery. The advanced technology produced through the Civil War assisted in
increasing number of casualties. The North was more fortuitous than the South in multitudinous
ways. One of which includes the fact that their industrial society allowed them to produce a larger
amount of weapons of a higher quality. One of the major reasons the Union triumphantly defeated
the Confederate army was because of their more superior types of weapons. A... Show more content

Unfortunately, the South had a large disadvantage in this area. The Confederacy was dependent on
stolen weapons to fight in the war (Morgan). Although the South advanced in agriculture, this did
not assist them in producing a high quality and quantity of weaponry and artillery.
Artillery caused a greater commotion than weaponry amongst people. It was better at targeting and
accurately shooting targets. The Parrott rifle, as previously mentioned, was used frequently yet was
unpopular amongst the soldiers. As a solution, the 3 inch Ordnance replaced the Parrott rifle. This
cannon was more accurate and had a longer range, up to about 2,300 yards. It was a hundred
pounds lighter than the Parrott. The Union army produced about a thousand Ordnances. Lacking
the technology, the Confederates did not and could not produce them. However, the Ordnance
was unnecessary during most battles since the shooter had to see his target in order to shoot
with any accuracy (Morgan). The Ordnance, though not necessary, was a commonly used
weapon. In order to solve the flaws of the Ordnance, the Napoleon was created. It is believed that
the Napoleon was the cause of more artillery casualties than all the other models combined
during the Civil War. It could fire as far as 1700 yards, but was deadly accurate within a range of
300 yards. The Napoleon was a favorite amongst some Northern artillerists because of

Legal Relations Of The Copyright Act
Glynn claims that he is joint owner of the copyright to RUST under the Copyright Act and seeks a
declaratory judgment under the Declaratory Judgment Act. Facepunch argues that Glynn has pled
that claim with insufficient particularity. Facepunch also argues that the first contract between
Facepunch and Glynn shows that Facepunch did not intend for Glynn to have any ownership
interest in RUST. Under the Declaratory Judgment Act, the court may declare the rights and other
legal relations of any interested party seeking such declaration. Federal district courts are well

Where parties have meaningfully collaborated on a work, it is hard to imagine that such work is
unaccompanied by the requisite intent. Facepunch argues that it never intended to enter into joint
ownership with Glynn. Both sides agree, however, that Glynn was an independent contractor for
Facepunch and never signed any documents altering his copyright interest in any game he
produced. Moreover, Glynn alleges that he wrote roughly 75% of RUST s code, making him the
dominant author. Glynn s complaint sufficiently alleges that he performed a substantial amount of
work on RUST and worked closely with other collaborators at Facepunch to create a finished
product. Glynn s contract with Facepunch establishes his monthly stipend, but does not affect his
rights as an independent contractor to joint authorship in his work and derivative works. The court
will not dismiss Glynn s claim for declaratory judgment. Glynn argues that Facepunch interfered
with his contract or economic advantage by abandoning RUST and replacing it with Facepunch s
failed experimental game. Glynn s allegations for tortious interference relate to entirely to RUST
and have nothing to do with the contract between Facepunch and Glynn. As a result, dismissal of
Glynn s interference claim as it relates to Glynn s

Reason for Choice of Movie
The selection of film, I have chosen, is based upon my infatuation with the very intriguing storyline
it offers. At first, one may believe that the storyline is nothing more than another movie concerning
football. However, the storyline offers a combination of a beloved American sport, along with
touching accounts of the lives of each main character, as they dealt with grief and despair
independently. Most importantly, the storyline depicts the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

82). One example of narrative storytelling is revealed within the scene in which the university
president inquired as to why the Lengyel was seeking the position. Lengyel responded that he
regards his family as his team and imagines the loss of a family member is equal to the loss of
the town, and that he can empathize with the pain of the community, and wants to help the town
with their loss. This metaphor was a narrative story that allowed the president to relate to
Lengyel s reasoning for wanting to revamp the football program. Another example was the scene
in which Lengyel was attempting to convince the assistant coach, Red Dawson, to return to the
program. The assistant coach expressed that he couldn t continue as assistant coach due to his
guilt over having allowed another person to take his place on the doomed plane. In addition, he
cited another reason, as he feels responsible for the fate of the players as he personally recruited
a majority of them and ensured their parents he would keep them safe. Shortly thereafter, a
locomotive train passed. This allowed Lengyel to create a metaphoric reference as he associated
the passing train as having been the same train which derailed a couple of years ago and is now
back on track. This metaphor was the source of reflective thought, which helped Dawson make the
connection between the train having gotten back on track

The Presentation Of The Team Members Who Come From...
Teamwork was a really grateful process and significant experience in my Managing Organizations
and People course study. The teamwork training was very memorable. After more than two weeks
of running, there are many impressive events that happened. From those events, I felt change and
also helped develop myself in some areas. In this reflection essay, the main purpose is to find out
whether I was suitable to my other three team members who come from different cultures and
backgrounds, whether I have good leadership skills and teamworkskills and my individual
performance reflective. Like Levi (2007) has said that work in today s society has become more
complex and includes more unconventional features and interdependence, it produced teamwork
out. So I will use the Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988) which incorporates description, feelings, evaluation,
analysis, conclusion and an action plan to discuss how our teamwork reflected on the case study,
prepare the group presentation and my individual performance reflective.
Description
Our team case context was provided by the classroom structure and professor. When we just got
our case topic, the boys of our team were really excited, but for girls who do not understand
football is really big bad news. At our first meeting, there were lots of difficulties occurring within
our team. I had no idea about what I can do; even I don t know the problem of the case, because
each of us was lack of communication, understanding and planning.

The Importance Of Sustainable Development On The Environment
Over the course of the past few decades, humans have truly started to understand and study issues
that threaten our environment in great depth. Modern environmental sustainability is defined as the
link between the health of nature and society, population growth, distribution of wealth and the
combined approach to development, equity and conservation not new to social and environmental
policy (Oiamo 23). The definition of sustainabilityhas transformed over time along with our
knowledge and continually evolving understanding of the word. Sustainable developmentis a
process that goes hand in hand with sustainability, however the definition is widely deliberated.
Nonetheless, the most accepted definition was coined from the Brundtland Report in 1987 is
development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their needs (Oiamo 28). Succinctly, sustainable development is only using the essentials
needed to preserve ourselves as of right now, and nothing more. What lead to this present day
concept of environmentalism and sustainability were economic, environmental and social shifts
prior to the 1970s.These are known as the three pillars of sustainability and were contrived by
environmentalists such as Ebenezer Howard and Rachel Carson.
The major event that caused organizations, such as the World Conservation Strategy to develop the
three pillar concept was the industrial revolution and the effects it had on the world. One

previous study was based on 205 Japanese volunteers and patients between age 20 and 29 years.
From this study was found that Tt genotype of the TaqI polymorphism were more frequently
associated with multilevel disc disease, severe disc degeneration and disc herniation than the TT

degenerative disc disease verified in Chinese population (Cheung, et al., 2006). The fact that
replication of TaqI polymorphism was appeared in three different populations makes VDR as the
most robust of genes associated with disc degeneration disease. The reason for this is not clear but a
possible explanation is based on the fact that the polymorphism can affect the receptor level and
function of vitamin D. Based on the fact that vitamin D influence the sulphate metabolism which is
important for sulphation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) during proteoglycan synthesis, the latter
can lead to changes in the structural characteristic of the extracellular matrix in the intervertebral

Being a role model for my young daughter is very important to me. Receiving a higher education is
not only important to me, but also to my daughter. A single mother is usually categorized in a
negative light. When one says she s a single mother the first initial thoughts of many are the
stereotyping that the single mother is on welfare, Medicare, and other government aids.
Although the article Great Expectations: Single Mothers in Higher Education, by Diana
L.Haleman is about the minority group of single mothers that live in poverty, I have some of the
same issues that these women in the study had; mother, employee, and a college student. Their
educational experiences often provide an opportunity for disrupting negative expectations
directed toward them and also symbolize for the women the possibility of realizing the hopes
and dreams they hold for themselves and their children, says Haleman, I couldn t agree more
with that statement. Being a single mother, a hard worker, and a college student is not an easy
task, but having my daughter grow up watching all my willpower on completing my goals will
show her that no one can hold me down except myself. Money makes the world go round. There
have been many studies showing that having a higher education will lead to a higher paying job.
Although I personally didn t go back to college to give myself the opportunity for a higher paying
job, that is a bonus. In Haleman s article she shows documentation by M. C.

solely responsible organ for your every action, decision and behavior.
The Brain:
The human brain is divided in to 3 parts and if you conquer all three You have hacked the brain...
Step 1: Nudge Primal Brain
It is your only chance to grab your audience from their collar and look at your hardwork. Primal
brain responds to motion, threat of any kind, symbols of sex and hints of food. Stimulate the primal
brain through your online presence by using following strategies:

Your audience just sense whether you and/or your message makes them feel good or bad. Your
goal is either to change the emotional state of others (if it s running against you) or to maintain it if
it is working for you. Use following strategies to spread emotions:
Right Rapport: Use photos or videos to convey the emotional state that you want your customers to
feel. For example happy and satisfied people image, video testimonials showing emotional
gratification of your customers or anything which can convey them emotional value of your product
or service.
Storytelling: The use of storytelling techniques like hero s journey, sparklines or whatever suits
your brand to emotionally engage your audience. (If you have difficulty in choosing the right
technique, feel free to ask me for help in comments below.)
Step 3 : Conquer Rational Brain
As humans, we spend little or no time processing the constant bombardment of information around
us. We don t have time to process everything, so we develop these mental shortcuts. We tend to
follow our feelings, even if we don t admit doing so. We always respond more to gut instincts,
intuition, and other emotionally based triggers than we do to logic and reasoning. We just want to
feel right about things. We are emotional, subconscious decision makers with a bit of logic. The
following two techniques will provide the rational support

Planet
In the outer limits of our solar system there is a planet unlike any other, Pluto. Pluto was
discovered in February of 1930 by an American astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh. It is the only planet
to have been discovered by an American. All though we have known of the existence of Pluto for
over thirty years now, there are still many mysteries surrounding this celestial body. Being the
farthest planethas made it difficult to study Pluto, Adding to the obscurity of this strange planet is
that the capability to send spacecraft such distances has never been achieved. Through the wonders
of science and astronomy, there are many things that can be determined, concluded, and
hypothesized about this obscure planet. Pluto s discovery was actually a... Show more content on

This gives Pluto the appearance that it is tipped on its side, which, in essence, it virtually is. Pluto
s rotation also has notable qualities. Pluto s rotation period is 6.387 days, the same as its satellite
/moon Charon. Although it is common for a moon to travel in a synchronous orbit with its planet,
Pluto is the only planet to rotate synchronously with the orbit of its satellite. Thus being tidally
locked, Pluto and Charon continuously face each other as they travel through space. From 1985 to
1990, the Earth lined up with Pluto and Charon to cause and eclipse every Pluto day. This
occurrence allowed astronomers to gather a multitude of valuable information about Pluto and its
moon. The eclipses lasted as much as four hours and by carefully timing their beginning and
ending, measurements for their diameters were taken. Photograph s later taken by the Hubble
telescope confirms Pluto s diameter of 1413 miles, and Charon s, at nearly half the size, 728 miles
across within one percent accuracy.
Astronomers where also able to determine the density of Pluto during the daily eclipses. By
discovering the density to be approximately two grams per cubic centimeter, astronomers where
able to hypothesize the make up of the planet. They concluded that Pluto is fifty to seventy percent
rock with mixed with ice. Astronomers are also confident in the density of Charon. If correct, the
approximate density of one gram per cubic centimeter would mean that Charon

Putting Together an Online Presentation that Isn t Boring...
Putting together an online presentation that is not boring is quite an endeavor that leads to a more
difficult task of deciding which presentation tool would work best. Which is which the traditional
Microsoft PowerPoint or the newer Prezi? The MPP has been the standard tool for many users
which has commanded most familiarization requirements in all organizational structures. The
concept of Prezi on visual aids is a flash based application allowing the user to create a presentation
using a large, blank page instead of the much familiar traditional slides. The main difference
pointed in between PowerPoint and Prezi as pointed out by both David Wicks and Phil Bird is the
method of presentation which could be in the linear or non linear... Show more content on

The finished process results are considered by Bird as more appealing to the presentation
audience as they are immersed in a kind of visual journey, as in the zooming out and in on the
presentation details which are far in contrast to PowerPoint s use of strictly steady slides.
Planning with Prezi is much simpler because one can get everything down on just one page and
within it works out all its details. PowerPoint is fast becoming a trademark for boring as users
are unable to harness it for effective presentation design, but a considerable number of advanced
users declare that PowerPoint allows more high end animation or a significant range of smooth
and practical on slide animation than Prezi. One can easily become proficient in Prezi s transitions
with its major feature of a giant canvass where one can zoom around in the information organized
spatially which is much suitable for presenting information that is spatially related. Prezi s
organization of content diagrammatically or around large photos however is adversely viewed
with frames that are spatially related whether this makes sense or not. One can easily relate to
motion sickness in the swirling movements as zooming around the page, rotating text or the
arrangement of content over large distances process adds to the confusion as to why the photos are
related to each other. Prezi

Abortion Discussion Questions
The topic for this discussion board was initially intended to be about a specific interest group we
wanted to see go away, so perhaps we have gone beyond the purpose of the discussion board by
debating the morality of abortion itself. Despite this, I would like to continue the discussion
because I find it interesting.
I disagree with some of the inferences you seem to have drawn from my response. I did not imply
that all abortions are justified; in fact, I would personally advocate for stricter regulations on
abortion. Furthermore, I believe that your statement describing a fetus as merely a burden is an
understatement of the scenarios I was trying to describe. When a fetus threatens the life of the
mother, I would describe its presence as more than just a burden. However, this does not mean I
necessarily support abortion when a pregnancy results from personal irresponsibility. For that
reason, I would like to rephrase the last statement in my former response. Instead of saying that
abortion is less often an issue of personal responsibility, a more accurate representation of my
opinion is to say that abortion should less often be an issue of personal responsibility. I did not
mean to describe how things currently are; rather, I intended to explain how I feel things should be.
I apologize for any confusion that may have caused. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What that specific point should be, however, is certainly a gray area among most who share a
similar view. The specific points in fetal development that you listed would indeed be an important
consideration in deciding when exactly that point

The world of music is a rollercoaster ride; one moment you re famous and in the next you will find

Article Analysis Of The North Korean Missile Launch
North Korean Missile Launch
After reading the articles about the North Korean missile launch on August 29th of 2017, Both
news sources portray bias in their own particular ways but Fox news seems to side. Fox states a
quote from Trump talking about all options are on the table due to the fact that North korea just shot
a missile over Japan. He talks about how the world is getting the message from North korea is
threatening. The misle showed that it could reach Guam if it really wanted to. Where the

The one that used more quotes was the Washington Post which from doing some research is a
democratic source. Which is why I think they used more quotes on what Trump had to say about
the situation to make it seem worse than it really was. Where Fox just got right to the point of what
was going on about the missile launch.
One thing that I noticed that was really strange about both articles were how similar the title and
the start of the articles were to each other. The titles are almost the exact same the word choice is
used a little differently but very similar. As for the start of each article they both start off with
the exact same line with President Trump said Tuesday that all options are on the table . Then
briefly after that get into the main subject of their stories. The washington post provided a
picture of trump right at the top of the article as well as a video of trump talking about the event
and a video of the missile being launched by north korea. Where Fox only provided one video of
just 2 males talking about the event. All of these are very different from each other and both are
setting different tones and giving setting a bias tone in my opinion.
The articles both had very different sources on where they got their information for the article. Fox
news claims that the associated press contributed to the report. Where on the other hand the

A Medley of Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl
Though considerable effort has been made to classify Harriet Ann Jacobs Incidents in the Life of
a Slave Girl: Written by Herself as another example of the typical slave narrative, these efforts
have in large part failed. Narrow adherence to this belief limits real appreciation of the text s depth
and enables only partial understanding of the author herself Jacobs s story is her own, political yes,
but personal as well. Although she does draw from the genre of her people, the slave narrative, to
give life and limb to her appeal for the eradication of slavery in America, she simultaneously threads

Approximately sixty five American slave narratives were published in book or pamphlet form
before 1865 (Andrews 78). Suffice it to say, the number is astounding, especially considering the
minimal literacy rate among slaves, not to mention the heightened danger posed to an author after a
narrative s publication. But Jacobs and others understood the need for first hand accounts of the
horror. Thus, they took the pen in hand to do their part in strengthening the abolitionist movement.
Their motive being to persuade, a particular style developed among these autobiographers, one
proven successful over time in winning converts to their cause. It is by no means an accident then
that Incidents includes the typical elements of a slave narrative text.
For instance, in her deference to the genre Jacobs repeatedly refers to scripture. When she
denounces northerners for returning runaways to their southern masters dens full of dead men s
bones, and all uncleanness, she is quoting Matthew 23:37 (Jacobs 2215). Later she mentions Job

rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor; the servant is free from his master, in

White Men Vs White Women Essay
Over the history of the United States, we have freed slaves, granted citizenship to people of
color, given women the right to vote, and made many other changes to improve civil rights.
Unfortunately, even today, we are belittling people of different races or genders. We have not
abolished the race and gender laws inside ourselves. Overall, our society has made it harder for
some races and genders to have better social mobility than white men, and sometimes, they never
do rise up in wealth, all because they are a certain raceor gender. Most genders and races, because
many people think they can take advantage of other racial and gender groups than any white men,
have less respect than white men.
We may think that we now treat all people equally, but we are simply lying to ourselves. When we

Examples Of Censorship In America Today
Censorship is one of the most controversial topics in America today. It provides rules or
discipline for new technology. It covers music, video games, movies, plays, and the internet.
Censorship is all around us, but how has it affected our nation as a whole? Censorship is the
suppression of words, images, or ideas that are offensive, happens whenever some people succeed
in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorshiphas existed in ancient
societies, and was made to prevent the wrong audiences from seeing things that were to mature.
One of the most famous examples was in 399BC when the philosopher Socrates was sentenced to
drink poison for his corruption of youth and his acknowledgement of unorthodox divinities. Another
example is during the 15th century when the printing press was created, certain books or writings

Today however it has become more controversial as new music and movies are coming to light.
Some disagree with the lyrics that are being said. An example is in 1988 when the music group
N.W.A released their 2nd album which featured the song F*** the Police. This song spread
across the nation and raised some eyebrows. While on tour the group was told by California
police to not perform the song at the next concert, however the group performed the song the
police fired up the building and the whole group was taken into custody. Many believed that the
music was inappropriate and crossing the line, but their lyrics expressed what their life was like
in Compton. This is just one example of how people think censorship should have even more of
an effect on everyday life. Though the song offended the police it was made to show the
discrimination they had faced as individuals. Many did not agree, but the group believed it was
their God given right to express their beliefs and opinions through

How Is King Arthur Radley Revenge
Arthur Radley Would Revenge After reading the first three chapters of To Kill a Mocking Bird,
I formulated a rudimentary hypothesis about Mr. Arthur Radley: Being alive, he was imprisoned
at home by his brother, Nathan Radley. The misfortunes throughout Arthur s life had wrought
his antisocial personality. When he finally got an opportunity, he revenged on the three children
for their ceaseless harassment, and injured Jem s arm. Arthur Radley was still incarcerated in
the Radley Place. After Mr. Radley s death, Boo s elder brother returned from Pensacola and
took Mr. Radley s place . This fact implies the existence of Arthur Radley, who was considered
dangerous and required custody. Another significant evidence lies on the first page: He (Jem)
said it (Jem s injury) began the summer Dill came to us, when Dill first gave us the idea of
making Boo Radley come out . It suggests that Radley would cause Jem s injury, either directly or
indirectly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jem, regarded him as an atrocious creature. Extreme solitude and ubiquitous animosity would

Summary Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Blink
In Chapter 2 of Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, Gladwell insist that what we think of as freewill is
largely an illusion: much of the time, we are simply operating on automatic pilot, and the way
we think and act and how we think and act on the spur of the moment are a lot more susceptible
to outside influences than we realize. (58). Gladwell is referring to priming, as human beings,
our behavior and decision making are often influenced by subtle triggers we are either aware of
or not aware of. As humans we are vulnerable to the most subtle stimuli. Gladwell provides
examples of priming with different types of exams and games administered to college students.
An area where priming occurs on a daily occurrence is at the grocery store because the products
sold are strategically placed on the shelves to target a specific audience company s want to sell
their product to, the price tag are designed with colors that we associates subconsciously with
spending, and there are signs located all around the store that tell you that you ll be saving
money so that you buy more of that certain product or so you are more likely to shop at that
particular store. Priming is when subtle triggers we are either aware of or not aware of
influence our behavior. Gladwell has the reader imagine that he is a professor proctoring a
scrambled sentence test where students were asked to walk down a long hallway into an exam
room where they were given an exam with a list of five word sets and asked to change each
word set into a grammatically four word sentence as fast as possible. The test was not difficult
but the college students walked down the hallway more slowly than they walked towards the
classroom. This is because ingrained in the list were certain words that were associated with
being old. This test, which was developed by a clever psychologist named John Bargh, makes our
adaptive unconsciousness ponder about the state of being old. Further research suggests that
individuals can be primed to behave differently, various words may be used to influence people to
be polite or rude. Malcolm Gladwell demonstrates how a simple scramble sentence test challenges
your sub consciousness into believing that you are much older by simply

On the other hand, Darcy could just be saying this because he is insecure that she is not interested
in him and does not want to show this. So he decides to put down

Darcy is also shown to be prejudice towards Elizabeth s family in chapter 33 in another way.
Congratulated himself on lately having saved a friend from the inconveniences of a most imprudent
marriage .
Fitzwilliam says to Elizabeth that Darcy has said this. Darcy is shown to be boasting about the
fact that he has saved his friend form a marriage. He thinks that he has saved his friend from
marrying a woman not worth it, and who is not of the same class as them. Elizabeth s pride is
again hurt because he is downgrading her family. Darcy thinks that Elizabeth s sister Jane is not
good enough for his friend,
Mr.Bingley. So, Elizabeth s hatred for Darcy is growing by the fact that he is prejudice towards her
family.
The audience now are made to believe that Darcy is the bad guy .
However they do not realise that what Fitzwilliam has said, could be gossip. Elizabeth shows
pride in her character through the way that she talks about her family. She talks about her father
and her sister Jane as being respectable. This is shown in chapter 33 by the phrase

Introduction For this assignment, I chose to do a listing of quotes which I feel represent the
theme of Happiness in The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Happiness is expressed
in a number of ways, many of which the characters do not know about. I chose to focus on this
theme because I felt it was the most prominent and important in the story, and that the characters
go through a great deal of development while experiencing it. Chapter One: There is No One

Mary s childlike wonder and imagination. She sees the bird and thinks that this creature may be
the first she has ever liked, and therefore wants to know more about it. Mary feels something
when she sees him, the same thing she feels when she is out on the moor playing. Happiness is

Who Is Leslie Knope s Parks And Recreation
Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show which stars Amy Poler as the main character, Leslie
Knope. Leslie Knope is a lively government official who works in the Parks Department of
Pawnee. Although Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show, Leslie Knope displays insight
into misogyny, sexism, gender equality and government sexual politics, particularly in an office
place. Before we were aware of the cliche yet degrading storyline of girls fantasizing of finding the
perfect man to marry, the media produced a majority of their films based on that specific plot.
The media portrayed the woman depending on a man to sweep her off her feet and to live happily
ever after. One major example is the story of Cinderella. The book ended happily ever after only
when Cinderella had found her prince? Finding a man solely for living a comfortable life without
any worries is in fact risky and foolish. Dependence on a man is futile because you are indeed

How The American Dream Remain Viable For All Citizens Of...
The energy of money makes the world thrive. For decades, people have relentlessly pursued
wealth to fulfill their dreams of living a better, richer life. The famous fashion designer Tommy
Hilfiger once said, The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and
passion, it s possible to achieve the American Dream. The big question is, In today s society, with
its elite layer of upper class taxpayers and overpopulated corporations, does the concept of the
American Dream remain viable for all citizens of the United States?
The past and present models of the American Dream have greatly influenced the nation s ever
growing population and economy. They possess some significant differences, but share important
similarities as well. In order to be truly successful in one s pursuit of happiness and prosperity, it is
relevant to define and understand these attributes, both good and bad.
In the postwar era of 1945 1954, the version of the American Dream led people to believe they

options to rethread the drawstrings, this is still an existing issue among many households. A perfect
solution is a unique tool that has the flexibility needed to weave through the... Show more content

Another flaw is that the string needs to be taken fully out of the hoodie. This makes the process
longer than it should. The next DIY solution uses a straw to re thread the drawstring in a hoodie.
In order to use this method, the string needs to be fully removed. Thorin Klosowski explains the
steps to use this method. After fully removing the string from the hoodie, place it within the straw
and staple it in place. Now take the straw, which has more flexibility than a coat hanger wire, and
weave it back through the drawstring path. Once again this method has flaws. Even though straws
are common household products, not every house has these on hand. Plus, if one is trying to fix
their garment, why would they put a staple through it in order to re thread the drawstring? The
third DIY solution uses a safety pin and is explained on Lifehacker by Patrick Allan. Once again
with the drawstring fully removed, attach the safety pin to the string by poking the pin through the
material. Now that the pin is attached, use this pin as a guide to feeding the string back through the
material little by little. This method requires a lot of time and patience and the string has to be
fully removed. With the variety of DIY solutions and the widespread pain of the drawstring coming
out, few people have developed other solutions. One solution, that already is patented approved,
requires the entire drawstring to be removed. According to the United States Patent

What is not acceptable is for the customer to be demanding, insulting and irate. The real issue is
lack of respect people today.
This study has an important contribution to the understanding that there are Dysfunctional
Customers , and that their behaviours equate serious consequences, and in the new era the
number of them is increasing. Those customers always wish payless or to not pay, those who
doesn t obey rules of the company, use to abuse employees verbally or even physically,
customers who gets in detailed arguments with other employees about company and they are
customers who always makes hurdle for company and so on and so forth, and we might
encounter some of them that will scream at you or some will just be okay. Some of them will
down your principle, even your personality or we can say that some of them are just over
reacting to the point that they are already below their belt. They misbehave because they know
that the management does not want to lose them. Customers are used to tell the famous slogan in
any business that the customer is always right . A customer knows when they are wrong or right
but they will still try to get something out of it because it does not matter if they are right or
wrong, in fact, in their world they are always right and they like to do whatever they want. [By

Art Statue Analysis
At first glance of the two statues, they look as if they were part of a bigger, grander
arrangement. They both have similar style of carving, composition and go together well. So one
can suspect that they may have been pulled out of a group even without prior knowledge of the
people the figures represented. There are subtle details in both art pieces that helps to convey
the emotions without being too dramatic to the viewer. For example, the position of the art
work s hand or the slight leaning of the head. These may seem to be too inconspicuous to convey
a message, but when one sees all these elements come together in the piece, it all makes sense.
The main focus of these art pieces are the emotions they convey and not necessary the
craftsmanship of the artist. The artist is able to capture the viewer s attention by making the art
pieces convey their messages through their eyes and body composition. The figure representing
the Virgin Mary is about life size and covered in a draped garment. The drapery goes all the way
from the head covering to the feet. The head covering seems to merge with the garment to create an

Other statues of the Virgin Mary also have this shape. And most people familiar with statues of
Mary with most likely be able to recognize her in this particular statue. Although there is a
familiarity in this shape, other aspects of this statue makes it unique. Only the tip of the left foot
is visible. The artist may have done this on purpose to make carving seem seamless. Even the
base of the art piece is not really distinguishable from the rest of the piece. It looks like the
uncarved original base of the tree used to make the statue. It s like the garment is melted into the
base. .If not for the tip of the left foot poking out, one may be confused as to where the statue ends,

Federal Regulation Of The United States On The Volatility...
1. Introduction
This paper examines the impact of federal regulation in the United States on the volatility of stock
returns for firms in different segments of the financial service industry. I examine the volatility of
stock returns for banks, savings associations, securities firms and insurance companies. Moreover, I
compare the volatility dependence of stock returns for these segments with the introduction of new
federal regulation, specifically the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in
2010 (Dodd Frank Act).
Regulation of financial markets is very significant for investors in the stock markets, policy makers,
practitioners, and academicians who explore the topic very rigorously. This paper contributes to the
field by examining the volatility among stock returns for firms in different segments of the financial
services industry. My findings are useful to investors and have significant implication for policy
makers and federal regulators in the United States.
The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd Frank) is the
recent federal legislation that was enacted following the 2008 2009 global financial crisis that
some have deemed as the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression . Regulatory reform of
the financial system is an urgent priority as the recent financial crisis exposed some of the
fundamental weaknesses in the financial regulatory system of the United States (Wilmarth, 2011).

Humour And Its Influence On Organizational Success
Humour refers to a key factor of human interaction and is often used as a multifunctional tool to
achieve many objectives. Humour has managed to play a significant role in the workplace
environment in several ways. It brings many positive outcomes to workplace relations such as
building stronger connections. Not only does the use of humourbuild stronger connections, but it
also assists in building your career, creativity, culture, confidence and overall success within an
organisation (Cooper, 2008). However, there are a few negatively used humour styles which can
lead to a damaging impact on the organisation. Throughout this essay, the concept of humour and its
role in bringing organisational success will be conveyed through the supporting studies as well as
the theories presented.
Humour is diverse and is commonly used within organisations. Many styles of humour within the
workplace can lead to organisational success. These popular types of humour styles include self
enhancing humour, as well as affiliative humour. Affiliative humour is commonly used in the
workplace to assist in amusing one another, to facilitate relationships and to reduce interpersonal
tension. On the other hand, self enhancing humour refers to individuals who usually take a
humorous perspective of life. They also tend to use it as a tool to cope with stress and tension in
the workplace (Galloway, 2010). Controversially, a few negative styles of humour also exist within
some firms. The most common

to the rise of America as an industrial nation. The expansion of the West lead to booming industries
that helped grow particular industries. Due to the industrial expansion it lead to a growth in many
industries and the country itself. The author is referring to the expansion of the West and the
Industrial Revolutionwhen discussing The Incorporation of America . The incorporation of America
is an argument that the rise of corporatization in the Gilded Age restructured the idea of American
culture.
The Railroad industry extended to the West as the factory system developed in cities. However, the
conception of the West did not appear until the late 19th century. The West was viewed as the land
of opportunity. The West had railroad development, mining, and cattle ranching. Cities such as
Denver, San Fransisco, and Salt Lake City grew. During the expansion of the West there was

Title: Reasons to Get a Soundproof Door Installed
Description It is always very important for people to consider the costs involved in getting a
soundproof door installed within the house.
Noise pollution is something that affects each and every individual living in the modern society. In
this modern world, every individual thinks of relaxing in his or her home without the exterior world
disturbing his quiet and peace. It is also quite fun and enjoyment to get the ability of cranking up
the electric guitar or the cinema system in the house without disturbing the neighbors. Making sure
that the sound insulation in your house is of decent standard can help you in ensuring the fact
that your home serves as that perfect place for relaxing. There are a lot of people who are of the
view that they need to spend a huge amount of money on this special feature. However, these
people are unaware of the fact that there are some inexpensive methods that can also be used. For
example, making use of a soundproof door can always work towards making the home a
comfortable and relaxing place.
Reasons for Getting a Soundproof Door
The main reasons why you should think of proper sound insulation in your house are as follows:

  • 5. Commodity Fetishism and Its Impact on Contemporary Society... What is commodity fetishism as defined by cultural and media theorists? Identify and analyse three images that demonstrate the way commodity fetishism is impacting on contemporary society and culture. Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange. (Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The idea of a commodity culture has been described by media theorist Stuart Ewen as a commodity self. He believes that we are constructed through our relationship with and use of commodities in our everyday lives. Karl Marx ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only does it allow the development of a broader social context of devaluing labour, making it hard for workers to take pride in their work but it also allows consumers to remain ignorant of working conditions. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 280) This image is an example of commodity fetishism because it is essentially a process of mystification that not only empties commodities of the meaning of their production but also fills them with new, appealing meaning. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our sense of history. (Kaplan 2006, p. 105) Image two is the front cover of a book. It shows chocolate and has been chosen as an example of commodity fetishism. Though according to source D, entering a store with the intent of coming out with any item considered healthy may seem like an impossible task. Within the cartoon, there is a prominent emphasis on the idea that trans fats are in the majority of what we eat and what people are surrounded by regularly. That may be the case for a majority of individuals who decide to shop conveniently opposed to actual grocery stores. The term convenience stores means products aren t necessarily comparable to that of a grocery store. Depending on the person, time available, and willingness to travel to compile a healthy diet it is essentially based on those factors and should be considered instead of banning trans fat. With more than 2.2 million deaths in 1998, HIV/AIDS has now become the fourth leading cause of mortality and its impact is going to increase. Over 95% of all cases and 95% of AIDS deaths occur in the developing world, mostly among young adults and increasingly in women. HIV can be prevented in many ways, but they are not always followed. The Civil War broke America in two groups and, at the time, was the war with the most casualties and injured men. As the fight to preserve the Union progressed, so did a number of other areas, such as weaponry and artillery. The advanced technology produced through the Civil War assisted in increasing number of casualties. The North was more fortuitous than the South in multitudinous ways. One of which includes the fact that their industrial society allowed them to produce a larger amount of weapons of a higher quality. One of the major reasons the Union triumphantly defeated the Confederate army was because of their more superior types of weapons. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, the South had a large disadvantage in this area. The Confederacy was dependent on stolen weapons to fight in the war (Morgan). Although the South advanced in agriculture, this did not assist them in producing a high quality and quantity of weaponry and artillery. Artillery caused a greater commotion than weaponry amongst people. It was better at targeting and accurately shooting targets. The Parrott rifle, as previously mentioned, was used frequently yet was unpopular amongst the soldiers. As a solution, the 3 inch Ordnance replaced the Parrott rifle. This cannon was more accurate and had a longer range, up to about 2,300 yards. It was a hundred pounds lighter than the Parrott. The Union army produced about a thousand Ordnances. Lacking the technology, the Confederates did not and could not produce them. However, the Ordnance was unnecessary during most battles since the shooter had to see his target in order to shoot with any accuracy (Morgan). The Ordnance, though not necessary, was a commonly used weapon. In order to solve the flaws of the Ordnance, the Napoleon was created. It is believed that the Napoleon was the cause of more artillery casualties than all the other models combined during the Civil War. Lengyel responded that he regards his family as his team and imagines the loss of a family member is equal to the loss of the town, and that he can empathize with the pain of the community, and wants to help the town with their loss. This metaphor was a narrative story that allowed the president to relate to Lengyel s reasoning for wanting to revamp the football program. Another example was the scene in which Lengyel was attempting to convince the assistant coach, Red Dawson, to return to the program. The assistant coach expressed that he couldn t continue as assistant coach due to his guilt over having allowed another person to take his place on the doomed plane. In addition, he cited another reason, as he feels responsible for the fate of the players as he personally recruited a majority of them and ensured their parents he would keep them safe. Shortly thereafter, a locomotive train passed. The Importance Of Sustainable Development On The Environment Over the course of the past few decades, humans have truly started to understand and study issues that threaten our environment in great depth. Modern environmental sustainability is defined as the link between the health of nature and society, population growth, distribution of wealth and the combined approach to development, equity and conservation not new to social and environmental policy (Oiamo 23). The definition of sustainabilityhas transformed over time along with our knowledge and continually evolving understanding of the word. Sustainable developmentis a process that goes hand in hand with sustainability, however the definition is widely deliberated. Nonetheless, the most accepted definition was coined from the Brundtland Report in 1987 is development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs (Oiamo 28). Succinctly, sustainable development is only using the essentials needed to preserve ourselves as of right now, and nothing more. What lead to this present day concept of environmentalism and sustainability were economic, environmental and social shifts prior to the 1970s.These are known as the three pillars of sustainability and were contrived by environmentalists such as Ebenezer Howard and Rachel Carson. I did not imply that all abortions are justified; in fact, I would personally advocate for stricter regulations on abortion. Furthermore, I believe that your statement describing a fetus as merely a burden is an understatement of the scenarios I was trying to describe. When a fetus threatens the life of the mother, I would describe its presence as more than just a burden. However, this does not mean I necessarily support abortion when a pregnancy results from personal irresponsibility. For that reason, I would like to rephrase the last statement in my former response. A Medley of Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Though considerable effort has been made to classify Harriet Ann Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl: Written by Herself as another example of the typical slave narrative, these efforts have in large part failed. Narrow adherence to this belief limits real appreciation of the text s depth and enables only partial understanding of the author herself Jacobs s story is her own, political yes, but personal as well. Although she does draw from the genre of her people, the slave narrative, to give life and limb to her appeal for the eradication of slavery in America, she simultaneously threads a captivity narrative, a romance, and a seduction novel through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately sixty five American slave narratives were published in book or pamphlet form before 1865 (Andrews 78). Suffice it to say, the number is astounding, especially considering the minimal literacy rate among slaves, not to mention the heightened danger posed to an author after a narrative s publication. But Jacobs and others understood the need for first hand accounts of the horror. Thus, they took the pen in hand to do their part in strengthening the abolitionist movement. Their motive being to persuade, a particular style developed among these autobiographers, one proven successful over time in winning converts to their cause. It is by no means an accident then that Incidents includes the typical elements of a slave narrative text. For instance, in her deference to the genre Jacobs repeatedly refers to scripture. When she denounces northerners for returning runaways to their southern masters dens full of dead men s bones, and all uncleanness, she is quoting Matthew 23:37 (Jacobs 2215). Later she mentions Job 3:17 19, There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary be at rest. White Men Vs White Women Essay Over the history of the United States, we have freed slaves, granted citizenship to people of color, given women the right to vote, and made many other changes to improve civil rights. Unfortunately, even today, we are belittling people of different races or genders. We have not abolished the race and gender laws inside ourselves. Overall, our society has made it harder for some races and genders to have better social mobility than white men, and sometimes, they never do rise up in wealth, all because they are a certain raceor gender. Most genders and races, because many people think they can take advantage of other racial and gender groups than any white men, have less respect than white men. Censorship is the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are offensive, happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. One of the most famous examples was in 399BC when the philosopher Socrates was sentenced to drink poison for his corruption of youth and his acknowledgement of unorthodox divinities. After Mr. Radley s death, Boo s elder brother returned from Pensacola and took Mr. Radley s place . Summary Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Blink In Chapter 2 of Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, Gladwell insist that what we think of as freewill is largely an illusion: much of the time, we are simply operating on automatic pilot, and the way we think and act and how we think and act on the spur of the moment are a lot more susceptible to outside influences than we realize. (58). Gladwell is referring to priming, as human beings, our behavior and decision making are often influenced by subtle triggers we are either aware of or not aware of. As humans we are vulnerable to the most subtle stimuli. Gladwell provides examples of priming with different types of exams and games administered to college students. An area where priming occurs on a daily occurrence is at the grocery store because the products sold are strategically placed on the shelves to target a specific audience company s want to sell their product to, the price tag are designed with colors that we associates subconsciously with spending, and there are signs located all around the store that tell you that you ll be saving money so that you buy more of that certain product or so you are more likely to shop at that particular store. Priming is when subtle triggers we are either aware of or not aware of influence our behavior. Gladwell has the reader imagine that he is a professor proctoring a scrambled sentence test where students were asked to walk down a long hallway into an exam room where they were given an exam with a list of five word sets and asked to change each word set into a grammatically four word sentence as fast as possible. The test was not difficult but the college students walked down the hallway more slowly than they walked towards the classroom. This is because ingrained in the list were certain words that were associated with being old. This test, which was developed by a clever psychologist named John Bargh, makes our adaptive unconsciousness ponder about the state of being old. Further research suggests that individuals can be primed to behave differently, various words may be used to influence people to be polite or rude.
