The Mormon Service I Visited
The Mormon service I visited, had a few similarities but also a few distinct differences from the
Catholic service that I am used to. Before this particular Sunday, I had never attended a Mormon
service, nor had I spoken to anyone who believed in Mormonism or the Latter Day Saints. With
that being said, I was welcomed much more openly than I had originally thought. Before
entering, I was approached by two members of the church; two young women (sisters) between
the ages of roughly 19 to 22. I arrived about an hour before service, that way I could ask a few
people some questions, but the two girls beat me to the punch. They initially asked me if I had
visited before and I responded saying that it was my first time, and I was attending as a student
observer, with no intention of converting, but would love to learn about the faith. They nodded and
proceeded to explain to me the reasons as to why they believed so strongly, and also a bit of
background information on the faith. One of the girls, explained to me that there has been a lot of
skepticism about Mormonismdue in part to the fact that Joseph Smith Jr, was so young and how
his explanation of Moroni (An angel no one had ever heard of), and his entire religion and the
scripture used, Book of Mormon, could have just been a part of his imagination. The other girl told
me how she was beginning to lose faith a couple years back, but she then regained it, after she
experienced her own tests, and was able to get passed her

International Culture In Nigeria
A culture defined is the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious,
or social group according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average
individual? When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions
to make. You can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a
very intriguing place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly
identical. Although this may be true, it is always interesting to compare countries to America to
realize how different our culture compares to others. Nigeria(when compared to the United States)
is a very different place which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with
that specific culture or society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses
Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old, in contrast, the United
States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its
effect on the way humans live can make an individual very successful when they find themselves in
a foreign environments.
Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest
nation in the world. Despite its size Nigeria has a population of 190,632,261, according to The
World Factbook (2017), which is the seventh largest in the world. The President of Nigeria is

My Fear Of Thunders And Thunder
My fear of thunders and lightning
It is truly fascinating how children experience and overcome many fears as they are growing up
and learning whether or not something is scary. Astraphobia, otherwise known as the Phobia
(fear) of anything related to lightning and thunder, is one of them. It undoubtedly is one of the
most complicated things I have ever had to defeat. I obviously was afraid of lightning, but I
realized how ridiculous and even pathetic it could be for me. Being among my friends, leaving
them and start looking for a place where I could feel more comfortable and safer (a sort of
shelter). Sometimes hiding underneath a bed, covering my ears and even crying because acting
like that is not logical to those who have no phobia, I felt like abandoned. All of that because of
something that occurs within the clouds, far away. Overcoming a phobia of something can
magically increase your self confidence. Sometimes, it is what others think about us that makes us
to think about changing. Do not fear, my father always said. Before your teenage years, it will be
gone. And he was right. According to fearof.net , most cases of excessive fear of thunder, lightning
gradually diminish over the years ; but my case seemed to be particular. One of my most effective
remedy against this fright, which had so many times made me feel ridiculous towards

Tweeter Case Study
Tweeter
Case Questions
1. Objectively and subjectively, is Tweeter price competitive? Why or why not?
Tweeter is an electronics store that pride itself on selling middle and high end goods. To see if
they were price competitive, we would have to evaluate them with similar stores like Cambridge
sounds waves as opposed to Walmart. Before APP in 1993, it would not have been possible to
evaluate Tweeter s price competitiveness since there was no systematic benchmarking present.
However with the APP, objectively, I think that Tweeter did try to price their goods competitively
with other similar goods. The APP strategy showed that their prices were competitive even in
comparison with cost leader competitors like Lechmere. This ... Show more content on

Customers now perceive Tweeter as expensive but not more than its other competitors. By changing
the marketing mix and including the buyer guide, it tells the customers who are interested in high
quality, the features of the products and ensures them that they are taking a calculated decision.
These customers who are particular about the product now appreciate Tweeter s efforts to provide
technical advice and provide fair advices about the product through the guide.
Doing all these helps change the customer s perception of Tweeter of being expensive, it is trying to
convey to customers that their price on the high quality goods are matched to its other competitors.
Its unique selling proposition of high quality and customer service is embedded in the minds of its
customers and that s how they are differentiating themselves from the other retailers. I think overall,
their new marketing strategy really fits well and targets their niche market of Quality/Service
customer. Such customers are interested in premium products yet concern about price and I think
Tweeter s marketing message and marketing mix really targets those customers.
I also think that the buyer s guide is Tweeter s great way of establishing itself as the tech go to
and standard for tech products, similar to Kelly s blue book for cars. Also, the buyers guide is a
great way to establish brand image and relationship between its customers and

Nietzsche s Influence On Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche on Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche was born in Germany and was originally a very religious person. But while he
was studying Theology the study of religion from University of Bonn, he became a loyal atheist
after reading Arthur Schopenhauer s Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung. Nietzsche is the most.
There can be little doubt that Nietzsche is the most influential figure in modern atheism.
Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most interesting, litigious and probably one of the clearest
thinkers in western history. His philosophy still fascinates enthusiasts and the curious till date. He
is considered one of the fathers of a still popular philosophical movement called existentialism. He
was of the view that people are free and they can control their destiny on their own. They are
capable of having a good life if they want. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the philosophy
of religion by Nietzsche has had great brilliant influence around the world. He was the creator of
the famous quote God is dead... We have killed him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to him people follow religion as a shield to protect themselves from their fears of
their death and triviality. In doing so they justify that they are very weak. Nietzsche believed that
sooner or later a better kind of human race shall emerge whom he called the Ubermensch in
German meaning a superior human. He claimed that as man was evolved from apes, this
Ubermensch will emerge from this weak man as a superior human who will be without fear. So
Nietzsche was sure that one day the Ubermensch will be able to do whatever they wished and the
weaker folk, will simply have to adjust with it. According to Nietzsche there is no such thing as the
truth, lawfulness or parity. There is only individuality, power and

Cacstromethorphan Case Studies
1.Dextromethorphan is believed to have rapid acting antidepressant properties at high dosage
because it s similar to glutamate NMDA receptor antagonist ketamine, which has shown rapid
(within hours after administration) antidepressant effects. However, ketamine has adverse effects
and a high potential to be abused [16].

Depressive Disorder. A 51 year old Caucasian male with DSM V Major Depressive Disorder,
recurrent, severe, non psychotic and Generalized Anxiety Disorder was treated with 600 mg/day of
CYP2D6 inhibitor bupropion XL (a common antidepressant drug) and a 60 mg BID oral dose of
Dextromethorphan. The patient showed improvement in major depressive disorder without side
effects. This case study was the first to show the fast acting effect of Dextromethorphan in major
depressive disorder in humans. This adds to the building literature on the antidepressant effects
observed in Dextromethorphan. The report suggested the administration of other common
antidepressants with Dextromethorphan, such as lithium might prolong the duration of the rapid
antidepressant effect [19].
Although this case report illustrates that Dextromethorphan has rapid antidepressant effects in
humans, there are very few clinical trial on the effect of Dextromethorphan on major depressive
disorder. This clinical trial will be one of very few controlled evaluating the safety and efficacy of
Dextromethorphan in patients with major depressive disorder. Therefore, various assumptions will

Comparison and Contrast between Popes
When people think of the Pope, they think of a leader, admirable person, and someone who is
willing to listen to opinions of the people to make them pleased. They have power, and are lead the
Roman Catholic Church when in reign. These are all huge responsibilities and the Pope is judged in
every aspect of these qualities. They carry much accountability and pressure from the people in the
community. Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis are very similar in their styles and ways of working

The insight on women and their specific role amongst the church is what collides. When watching
the PBS film, it states that even though women are very frequent in the church, their role is very
small and not as important as the men. They don t have a specific role nor importance to the
church. John Paul feels this is the correct way to run the system of the church. He believes this due
to the fact that men can become priests and have the highest role in the church. On the other hand,
Pope Francis had a big issue with this topic that he made comments about possibly changing the
system in the future. According to the article by Spadero, he explains Pope Francis view of women
in the life of the Church by stating, The church cannot be herself without the woman and her role.
The woman is essential for the church. Mary, a woman, is more important than the bishops. I say
this because we must not confuse the function with the dignity. We must therefore investigate
further the role of women in the church. We have to work harder to develop a profound theology
of the woman. Pope Francis believes women can make a dramatic difference in the church can help

Nashville s Public Square Park
Looking for a place to have an amazing time? A place where you can rock out one day? A place
where you can show support for various causes? Or just a place to spend hours of your afternoon

should become a priority destination. Nashvilles Public Square Park is leaking with love, music,
and memories. Indubitably, from the vigils to the protests, endless love can be discovered
throughout the 200,000 square foot park. Candle lit ceremonies are held to honor people who lost
their lives in tragedies by releasing hundreds of lanterns into the night sky, for events such as the

On these days, it is no surprise to be the only one in the park apart from the random groups of
people passing by or an individual playing with his/her dog in the lush green grass. Even though
there are several areas of grass around the park, the most immense section is located in the center of
everything. This area is incredibly emphasized because of how everything revolves around it; if
anyone was to sit right in the middle of it, he/she would be engulfed by the relaxing atmosphere.
Sitting there would permit anyone to see buildings a hundred times his/her size in any direction he
/she would turn. For instance, someone can see the well known AT T skyscraper, also known as the
Batman Building, which is more than thirty stories tall. At the bottom section of grass, there are
two art structures; the art structures seemingly match the configuration of a human from torso to
head, but unlike actual humans, these structures are transparent. Containing various colors of lucid
lights inside the figurine, the color of the lights depends on the day. Unlike actual people, these
statues have one arm raced at all times, pointing horizontally to the side. Around each art
installation, there are four stone benches surrounding them for people to sit on. When one walks
past both structures, to the South, one will find a black marble reflection pool containing water to
stomp in, used by children and many adults. Because of the smallness of the runway and the need
for some coolness, especially on summer days, many will start splashing in the fountains located at
the southern part of the park. The water seems to go to an anonymous beat because of its altitude
going from short to tall, one step at a time. Ultimately, the most known instrument of the park is the
observation deck, made by two tan towers

The Blithedale Romance And The House Of The Seven Gables
The literary genre of Romanticism was popular throughout the nineteenth century. Romanticism
consists of six main characteristics; the individual, intuition, imagination, nature, emotions, and the
unknown. Each Romantic author portrayed their view of the genre in their novels; each one in a
slightly different manner. The authors each have a different emphasis on the characteristics
depending on the plot of their novels. Nathaniel Hawthorne s prefaces to The Blithedale Romance
and The House of the Seven Gables and his short tale The Custom House incorporate the Romantic
ideals of intuition, nature, and imagination. These three Romantic traits are prevalent and key
throughout Hawthorne s first novel, The Scarlet Letter, as Hawthorne uses them... Show more

Nature plays an important role in society, the writing of Romantic novels, and in the plot of
Hawthorne s tales. Hawthorne shows the importance of nature, as a whole, to Romanticism by
describing the context of the scenery; he would, be glad, therefore, if especially in the quarter to
which he alludes the book may be read strictly as a Romance, having a great deal more to do with
the clouds overhead than with any portion of the actual soil of the County of Essex. In describing
the preponderance of nature to the plot of The House of the Seven Gables, Hawthorne demonstrates
the necessity of nature to Romanticism. In The Scarlet Letter nature also plays an important role.
Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne commit their passionate sin whilst surrounded by nature in
the forest on the outskirts of town. The two paramours are also reunited here after seven years
apart. Pearl, the creation of their passionate sin, is portrayed as being the most comfortable whilst
surrounded by nature. She is calm and at peace in nature. In contrast, when Pearl is in the Puritan
society, she is prickly and distrusting of those around her. Peal characterises the Romantic
fascination with natural

By Telling The Story In Third Person According To Gansberg
In Gansberg s essay, he captures his audience by telling the story in third person rather than
coming out with his own opinion. The way he writes this piece makes you go through multiple
emotions: anger, disappointment, frustration, fear, etc. In my opinion, a writer uses techniques,
such as tone, to portray how they feel on a topic. With this being said, I read different tones
throughout the essay. He used sarcasm in consistently referring to the citizens as good people, yet
telling us that some of them did not want to get involved or were too tired. These are not
examples of a good person. Not a single witness called the police until it was too late. Again, this is
not something a good person does. Secondly, Gansberg uses an approach

Reaction Paper On Octopi
I have been fascinated by the intelligence and resourcefulness shown by octopi for the past few
weeks since I went scuba diving. The main purpose of this trip was to be able to learn more about
octopi in their natural habitat, as I had been given an assignment regarding the morality of
consuming octopi. I was given the opportunity to fully observe the complexity of octopi in their
natural habitat. I realized these animals capabilities people fear these almost harmless animals? In
the past, I truly enjoyed the savory taste of a variety of octopusinspired meals. Many people
disregard the octopus, giving it little to no thought unless there is a debate for dinner. Thinking of it
as another average creature, as I did, with little to no intelligence, this is a common misconception
that is meant to give some kind of justification when consuming the animal. In reality, octopi are
one of the most intelligent species, having highly developed sentient characteristics. The more
research I did regarding the octopus, the more my personal moral dilemma shifted to the support of

octopi in their natural state; sadly the same cannot be said for the lobster. Many restaurants in

Summary Of Atlantic Avenue By F. Scott Fitzgerald Essay
It was a cold December night and Alex was walking around the streets of Boston, aimlessly
searching for a place to lay down. Seaport Boulevard. Atlantic Avenue. Finally arriving on
Congress Street. That night marked the one month anniversary since Alex lost his job at one of
the largest financial institutions in the world, due to a dispute between him and his boss. In
retrospect, that well paying job, with the spacious corner office and the unparalleled view of the
Boston Harbor were the least of his concerns. Before that very dispute, Alex s grandmother,
Isabel, whom he loved very much, died after a long hard fight against cancer. At the time of her
death, Alex was living in her apartment, which made coping with such circumstances all the
more difficult. Drowning in student loans, and unable to foot the bills, Alex was forced to find
other living arrangements. His grandmother s highly coveted apartment in the heart of the city
was foreclosed upon and sold to a young family from India who had just recently moved to the
States. No job. No money. No family. Three things that plagued Alex and his experience so far as
a young adult trying to find success in Boston. Many of Alex s classmates at this point were
starting families and had stable occupations all over Boston and the globe. It was nights like these,
that Alex felt ashamed. Wandering alone in the brisk winter night, searching simply for a bench to
sleep on, he would try to forget about the friends he

The song quot;Rainy Day Woman #12 and #13, quot; blatantly says that quot;everybody must
get stoned. quot; That tells people to disobey the law and tells people to mangle the temple of
God, our bodies by perverting it with drugs and stimulants. Many musicians make a mockery of
their fans. The lead singers subsist to do this the most because of the vocal opportunities they
have to express their discontent with life and thrust their ideas upon those who hypnotize with
the musician s power position, thus, makes the listeners obey their thoughts without fully
knowing. The lead singer Billie Jo, for Green Day, says to his fans, quot; I m not going to say
anything f****** intelligent, I m just going too swear a whole d*** lot. quot; The Bible tells us
that we should let everything that comes out of our mouth praise Him, and swearing for any
reason doesn t really praise Him at all and is degrading for us as well. Almost like if he did not

In addition the lead singer for Kiss would spit on his fans. He would get the crowd to spit in a

would use what dwelled left in the spittoon to spit on the crowd. This creates a bad influence on

In the 10th century between the years of 1237 to 1480 B.C.E., Russia converted to the Christian
religion but did not convert to the Catholic Church practices. Russia was a member of the
Byzantine Eastern Orthodox Church. The religion of the Byzantine power was founded by
Constantine, but it ended in 1453. The major differences in the Catholic and Orthodox churches
were church governors. In the Catholic Church, the pope was in charge of Catholics, and the
patriarchs (who functioned as arch bishops) governed the Byzantines. The practice of

The Fear Of Zombies By Franklin D. Roosevelt
Kinemortophobia: The Fear of Zombies Franklin D. Roosevelt said one of the most
recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to
Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can
experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful
tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a
product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in
Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the
spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II
through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When
comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World
Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an
existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to
two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear
imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in
one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. Propaganda, especially
during wartime, appealed more to the fears of adults, as artists were targeting that

Motivation And Motivation For An Effective Manager
Motivation
Job performance is essentially a function of ability and motivation. One s ability can be developed
through training, education, and work experience. However, substantial developments in
motivation can be obtained fairly quickly. As an effective manager, may achieve a significant
increase in your team s performance by improving its motivation; this begins with understanding
what motivates people. According to Maslow Hierarchy of needs theory (Robbins et al., 2014),
there are 5 levels of motivation that a manager should recognize as it relates to what motivates
individuals and how people are motivated. This has been demonstrated throughout my career as
different things motivate different people. The motivation can come right ... Show more content on

Both motivation systems are part of the Cognitive Evaluation Theory. A cognitive evaluation theory
is a precursor of self determination theory and centers on the distinction between intrinsic and
extrinsic motivation (Vallerand, 2000, p 2). The theory is regarding material or non material
motivators and managers knowing the people they are managing.
Decision Making Communication When it comes to communication and decision making traits,
many behaviors can be a subset of the above theories. As Maslow s hierarchal theory suggests
many decisions are psychological in nature (Amondt, 2014). The perceives at the time of
conceiving things actually make a judgmental stage for taking decisions. The ERG theory of
realization actually helps in making a sound decision and perfect communication (Robbins, et al.,
2014). To be an effective leader, one must be able to make good decisions and be a strong
communicator. For better communication, it is encouraged to follow best practices, such as having
enough patience and demonstrating listening skills. In my experience, getting people motivated is
not always an easy task. Management must identify the root cause of the current issue and work on
that to get

such as the holocaust have left people questions about religions, authorities and human nature. The

How Managers Understand And Manage The Work Family Balance...
The aim of this study is to investigate how managers understand and manage the work family
balance practices (WFBPs) and how undertaking these new practices impact their dual level
position (i.e. organisation and individual level) in the organisation. To achieve this aim, this study
will first explore the work familyrelationship that has been broadly and conceptually defined by
previous scholars and different conceptual definitions were taken into account. The term used in
this study is Work Family Balance Practices (WFBPs) that will be used to refer to the human
resource practices and policies establish by organizations. Namely, these available practices are
able to implement amongst workers in the workplace. Although the work life and family life are
different, yet they are interconnected (Clark, 2000). Thus, this study views various perspectives
when conceptualizing the work, family and work family balance following on from the earlier
discussion.
This chapter is divided into seven sections. It starts with the definition of term Work Family
Balance Practices (WFBPs). It then looks at how this term has been alternated and used in
different ways. After this brief introduction, the second section will briefly discuss the origin of
work and family from a conceptual background of the work family area related. The third section
will continue to discuss the understanding of terms of work and family from the conceptual
background of work and family area. The fourth section

Claude Monet Justine At Vetheuil Circa
Claude Monet was one of the most well known influential impressionist painters in the 19th century.
Among his famous paintings; is the The Seine at VГ©theuil Circa provoking unusual visual
images. The second French impressionist painter was Pierre Auguste Renoir, whose work was as
phenomenal as Monet. His paintingtitled, L Estaque in which he started to work on 1885 and
finished 1890 was another remarkable painting associated with the impressionist movement. This
paper is a personal reflective essay in which it will compare and contrast these two paintings and
further demonstrate their history. Among the numerous paintings, sculptures and different art work
presented, the impressionist paintings such as, The Seine at VГ©theuil Circa and L Estaque both
intrigued and captured my attention. I have a personal admiration for simplicity and tranquility in
which it s presented in both of these paintings. I want to present,... Show more content on

Regardless of the criticism he received for his paintings, being called sketches he overcame the
many hardships he faced in the public as well as in his personal life. He is primarily known for
his work depicting landscape in which he had a deep fascination with the structure and effects of
natural light. With intense hues and varied tones, he sought to capture the essence of the natural
world using strong colors and bold short brushstrokes . His painting, The Seine at Vetheuil Circa
captures the viewer s attention at first sight. The painting presents more of a scanning
presentation, by viewing the entirety of the painting rather than focusing on one point. The theme
of this painting also displays an extraordinary vivid usage of colors. From a large display of
green, light blue and bits of orange, he illustrates a portrayal of a real life observation. Another
theme visualized in this art of work is simplicity. With Utmost care and attention, he presents a

2.A description of the main issues raised in the case from the point of view of logistics management
This report outlines issues Hammond Manufacturing s Transformer group faced in cooperation
within the entire Hammond Group. The main issue was described by Hammond s management as
late delivery from the cabinetry plant to the Guelph plant what displeased customers and caused
numerous delays on production site.
All problems can be divided in 5 general groups and will be described in detail further:
1.Forecasting Issues
2.Production Scheduling Issues
3.Organizational Issues
4.Process Strategy Issues
5.New Demand Management Issues

This approach caused such problems as damage or loss of the parts what required additional waiting
time for the production on the transformer plant.
2.5. New Demand Management Issues
As the transformer plant has signed a new contract the production volume was expected to increase
significantly. The new added volume would require several operational changes. Moreover,
according to governmental requirements all standard enclosures have to be painted before final
assembly what means one more additional production step
3.A description of the approach management adopted to address the issues raised in the case, if the
approach is described in the case
In the case study, Hammond management doesn t adopt an approach to address the issues raised.
Group 6 or SSKR Consultants suggested the following approaches to be adopted to address the five
issues identified.
Issue 1.
Forecasting Issues within Hammonds Transformer Group
Three problems were identified as Hammonds forecasting issues; the first problem was a
forecasting inaccuracy which caused late deliveries of enclosures from the cabinetry plant in
Guelph to the other side of town to the manufacturing transformer plant. This should be corrected
by using shorter forecasting periods for each of the product ranges during the Collaborative planning
, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) method

Concealed Weapons Carry Lower Crime rates
Strict gun laws do not lower crime rates in fact they increase crime, there has been numerous
tests that back this up for every issue there are people that oppose the idea. There are studies that
have proven without debate that states that have the most restricting gun laws have the highest
crime rates. Studies show that states that adopt shall issue laws reduce murders by 8.5%, rapes
by 5%, assault by 7% and robbery by 3%, which translates to 1570 murders, 4177 rapes, 60,000
aggravated assaults and 12,000 robberies (Lott 1). So criminals respond strongly to deterrence
threats and the thought of a criminal s victim potentially being armed deters them. Shall issue
laws are laws that if you take a state certified state and pass a background check you can receive
a concealed carry license, this means that you must conceal the weapon, generally a pistol.
Benefits of concealed carry do not just benefit those who carry them or use them in self defense.
The very fact that those weapons are concealed keeps criminals uncertain as to whether potential
victims will be able to defend themselves with lethal force. The most support for strict gun laws are
in large cities where crimerates are the highest and shall issue laws would help out tremendously,
people that are uneducated on the real use of weapons know how useful they can be and they can
save lives. Many of the supporters of strict gun laws have no knowledge on firearms and make their

Colorado Legalization And The Netherlands Drug Policy
Colorado Legalization and The Netherlands Drug Policy
Amanda McKeel
Monmouth University
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legalization of marijuana in Colorado as well as the
Netherlands drug policy. It has been found that even though Colorado has legalized marijuana,
there are provisions that must be followed. The Netherlands however have not legalized
marijuana, but they do feel that seeing possession of marijuana is not a crime, so therefore
marijuana is tolerated. Colorado s society does not agree with this legalization due to adolescent
use, however the Colorado Amendment 64 protects this. The Netherlands is seen as too liberal, but
they are only doing what is in the best interest of the users. ... Show more content on

The main question is, with marijuana being legalized in Colorado and tolerated in the Netherlands,
what is the affect of such legalization?
The legalization of marijuana, for some, is not something to take lightly, but I do not think it is
the worst drug. In my own opinion heroin and cocaine are two drugs that should not be legal
because of the harmful effects they cause. Marijuana, in my own opinion is the lesser of the two
evils, so if states and countries want to legalize it, they can do what they please. Now I know
some people would disagree with me on this, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I
would rather see marijuana legalized then heroin or cocaine.
Colorado
Colorado s legalization of marijuana began in 2000 with the Colorado Amendment 20. According to
Davis, Mendelson, berkes, Suleta, Corsi Booth (2015) the Colorado Amendment 20 legalized
cannabis for medical use only. Even though this was true however, not just anybody was allowed
to obtain marijuana. Any person wishing to obtain cannabis had to have a condition that was
debilitating. Debilitating conditions approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment (CDPHE) and included in Amendment 20 are cancer, glaucoma, HIV or AIDS,
cachexia, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, muscle spasms, and any other condition approved
by CDPHE (Davis et.al, 2015, p.1). This Amendment lasted for nine years and in 2009, anyone
was allowed to obtain medical cannabis. There was no

How Asatru Is A Religion That Has Close Ties With Norse...
Asatru is a religion that has close ties with Norse mythology. The name of the religion, Asatru, is
a twofold word that gets it s meaning from Old Norse. The first half of the word, Asa, means
Gods and Goddesses and the second half Tru, means to have faith or belief in. Altogether Asatru
means to have faith in the gods. Asatru can be considered part of the Neo pagan family of
religion since it has to do with Norse Heathenism. The beginning of Asatru was not the start of
the religion itself yet a revival of an older religion. Before Asatru there was the Nordic religion.
This religion was practiced before Christianity came around. The Nordic religion is thousands of
years old and its beginnings are lost in prehistory. Yet, it is associated with the age of Vikings.
Ancient Asatru and Modern Asatru is a folk or tribal religion. In the 20th century an Icelandic sheep
farmer named Sveinbjörn Beinteinsson created an Asatru organization. The proper term for it is,
ГЌslenska ГЃsatrГєarfГ©lagiГ° which translates to Icelandic fellowship of Aesir faith.
Beinteinsson even petitioned for Asatru to be a recognized religion in the early 1970s. After about
a year of petitioning, Asatru became a known religion in Iceland. Coincidentally, around the same
time the organization was created in Iceland, there were communities forming in the United States
and in the United Kingdom. However, these three communities didn t know of each other.

J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls Essay
J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
In the play An inspector calls by JB priestly, there are a range of dramatic devices used, you can
see foreshadowing; where the characters hint at things that you see or learn later. There are the
entrances and exit; the dramatic ways that these are used. Also the climatic curtain is used, leaving
the readers on a cliff hanger. And finally dramatic ironyand denouement are used. All these
dramatic devices add up to a brilliant play, about a family who are having a quite night in, when
they are disturbed at the dinner table, by a police inspector directing an inquiry on a girl s suicide,
and as the story unravels we learn about each characters part to play. ... Show more content on

Finally we learn that Sheila has a bad temper when Eric says, She s got a nasty temper
sometimes… (Page5) This is a crucial point, as her temper plays an important part later in the
play.
Throughout the play the author, JB Priestly uses entrances and exits to dramatically make
characters enter or leave scenes. The first entrance (page10) is the inspectors. My first
impression of the inspector when he first arrives in the book, is that of a very serious and clever
man, a man that takes his work very seriously, we see an example of this when Mr. Birling says,
Have a glass of port or a little whiskey? and the Inspector replies, No, thank you, Mr. Birling. I m
on duty. This shows that he abides by the rules or his work. I think that the other characters where
a little bit surprised at the news of an inspector arriving, as one would be if an unexpected
inspector arrived. This is shown when Mr. Birling says, An inspector? What kind of inspector?
Sheila makes the next dramatic move (page21), this time an exit, when she runs out of the room
after seeing a picture of Eva Smith. The inspector shows her the photo and she runs away as we
can see here, He produces the photograph. She looks at it closely, recognises it with a little cry,
gives a half stifled sob and then runs out. This tells the audience that Sheila has seen this girl before

Semplica Girl Diaries
In the story Semplica Girl Diaries by George Saunders the narrator speaks of various struggles
his family faces, where they are dragged into their society s conceptions with huge financial
problems. He begins writing a journal on September 3rd where he explains how he has set a
project to write every day for a whole year. The journal began by explaining the narrator s first
altercation with society, where he is picking up his kids and out of the blue the bumper of his
car falls off. At this time, the reader is introduced to two of his kids: Eva, who is the youngest,
and Lily who is the oldest. The reader learns that in a couple of days it is the older daughter s

It carries concepts that aren t so obvious to the naked eye unless the reader really puts much
thought and effort to understand what Saunder is trying to tell the reader. The first obvious one
would be social status. Right off the bat we can identify where all the groups fall in society.
Starting from the Torrini s who in the story are very wealthy and an upper social class. Then
below them, we have the narrator s family who are on the border of poverty, suffering financial
problems and hard time in their life. Until the father wins a ten grand scratch off. Rather than
spending the money wisely by covering the debt he has, he goes and blows it off recklessly on
his daughter s birthday party by purchasing Semplica Girls believing he is finally on the same
fields of the wealthy. Which leads us to the final status which is very poor. These were four girls
that were completely living in poor conditions with families causing them to sell themselves to
provide money for their families. This in a way creates a certain connection between the
narrator and the Semplica Girls. As we read the story we learn that the father is constantly
worried about his family s well being, how they look and if they are happy or not. No matter the
amount of debt the father was facing or how bad it was for him to keep things in order he always
reassured his family that everything will be alright. Like

The Truman Corner Shopping Center
Please note that the table excludes the existing Truman Corner Shopping Center, which will be
redeveloped into the proposed Truman s Marketplace. There is about 2.5 million SF of retail
space in major centers located within five miles of the site. About 40% of this space is within
three miles of the site. The further away the center is from the redevelopment site the less likely
it will provide competition with Truman s Marketplace. In our opinion, retail centers such as
Ward Parkway, Stateline Station and those in Leawood are far enough away that they would
serve a separate market. Even much of the space within three miles of the site is predominately
older, poorly maintained product that may not effectively compete with the proposed project.
Just beyond the five mile radius from the site are several newer retail centers that either were
developed or will be developed by principals of Legacy Truman. All of these properties are
located in Lee s Summit and represent major concentrations of retail and restaurant space at the I

Increasing Competition On The Balance Sheet
With the increasing competition on the balance sheet both between banks and from non banks
financial institutions, banks have diversified their product into non intermediary financial services
as a result. One of the results of this has been the remarkable growth in the percentage of off
balance sheet (henceforth OBS) activities. Generally, OBS item refers to an asset or debt that does
not appear on the banks balance sheet, e.g. standby letters of credit, currency and interest rate
swaps etc. In the last two decades, with the deregulation of the financial markets and
improvement in financial innovations, banks are encouraged to offer new financial products and
services to increase their profit (Jurman, 2005). Actually, decreasing profitability of traditional
banking and increasing competitiveness of markets force banks to undertake OBS activities.
Therefore, banks have expanded OBS activities dramatically, not only on the volume of
traditional OBS items, but also the use of risky innovations (Khambata and Hirche, 2002). The
data of European commercial banks shows, the OBS activities increased from less than 50% of
total outstanding loans in the early 1990s to 150% of loans in the early 2000s. A similar trend
has also occurred among commercial banks in the United States (Bos and Kolari, 2013).
Specifically, on the one hand, as we can see from table 1, the share of OBS activities have been
growing dramatically among sample developed markets banking industry. On the other

The Internet And Its Impact On Our Lives Essay
According to History.com, in 1965, ARPAnet, also known today as the Internet, was invented for
military purposes. However, Tim Berners Lee had a different intention for ARPAnet. He invented
the worldwide web where information was accessible for anyone.
Centuries ago, to impart knowledge or information from the past and pass it from one person to
another, books were created. To obtain it, they had to go to a library, read tons of books about a
certain topic, jotted down and remembered the details they need. Today, all you need is an internet
access and you could have an enormous amount of data at your fingertips in an object that was
manufactured with the same size as a brick. Libraries were mainly used to obtain a physical
evidence of a documentation needed for research, studies, papers or projects. As stated in
History.com, for 56 years, the Internet had evolved. It became an ultimate tool in our daily
lives. However, nothing comes without a price. Nicholas Carr, an author of the article Is Google
Making Us Stupid? , published in The Atlantic as to how the Internet, specifically google, is
changing the way we read and the way we interact with reading materials. On the other hand, John
Battelle, an author, and a journalist, wrote a polemical article entitled Google: Making Nick Carr,
But It s Made This Guy Smarter published his response to Carr in his own blog. Battelle said that

Mexican American And Mexican Americans Essay
Introduction
One of the largest Hispanic origin population in the United states are Mexicans (Gonzales Barrera
Lopez, 2013). Mexican American s are considered minorities in the United States. There are many
reason why I am choosing to explore Mexican Americans for this paper. As a minority myself, I can
relate to some of the struggles that Mexican American s may face. However, there are some things
that I will never relate to or know the personal aspect of the Mexican culture. Just like any other
population, Mexican Americans have their own culture, values, and challenges.
Strengths
Mexican Americans find their strength through their culture, family, relationships and networks.
Mexican Americans have strengths with their extended family. Mexican American families
frequently function within extended family networks that include godparents and members of
other families (Miley, M., L., 2013). There is more advantage when you have more network with
extended family and other families. It essentially means a larger support system. One of the major
strengths of Mexican American families is a quantitative rather than a qualitative difference from
other ethnic groups (Miley, M., L., 2013). Some people may not realize that Mexican Americans
tend to stick together and support each other because it is a part of their cultural background. Just
like religion is a part of Mexican American s cultural background as well. Most of the time
Mexican American s share similar spiritual

i.Howler monkey is the common name for the tropical, arboreal New World monkeys comprising
the genus Alouatta of the primate family Atelidae, characterized by prehensile, thickly furred tails,
completely black faces, a stout build, relatively large size, and loud howling calls. Their loud

called the loudest animals in the New World. Alouatta is the only genus in the subfamily

are detected by the vomer nasal; this process forms a large part of the communication behavior of
this primate. Findings suggest that olfactory communication in mantled howler monkeys plays an

Alexander The Great Tactics
Alexander the Great earned his title. He conquered all of the known world with amazing
strategies and won when he was often out numbered. He had one of the most perfectly
organized, trained and equipped armies of all times. He inherited the army at the age of 20,
when his father was assassinated. His army was usually around 40,000 men and consisted of
phalanx, cavalry, hoplites, and peltasts. Phalanx were the most threatening troops of Alexander s
army. They were blocks of men, 16 across and 16 deep. They had long spears eighteen feet long
called sarissa. They also had a small shield strapped to their shoulders. Calvary are armored men

One battle that shows his amazing strategies is the battle of Gaugamela. It was Darius the
Persian king with about 250,000 men against Alexander the Great with about 45,000. Darius had
his men in a line that stretched about 2.5 miles long. First the Phalanx on the left side moved
away from the center and turned out from battle expecting a side attack. Alexander knew that this
would confuse the enemy and get the enemies cavalry to charge into the open space. Darius sent
his scythed chariots (blades on wheels) out to attack. Alexander knew what to do, the phalanx
went into a U formation to trap and destroy the chariots. Then he turned the calvary to the right
and the Persian cavalry followed. Little did the Persians know peltasts were hiding behind
Alexander s cavalry. Alexander kept going to the right forcing Darius to pull his cavalry out of
the line to avoid being flanked. This opened a gap in the middle of the line. Alexander turned the
cavalry and went for the gap. The peltasts kept the Persian horsemen from following Alexander and
his cavalry. When Alexander made it to the fleeing Darius he

Examples Of Mistakes In American History
Nobody is perfect, so everyone all makes mistakes. Human created history and even historical
failures. Some people believe that we usually repeat what we did wrongly before. It sounds similar
to the British author George Bernard Shaw s idea: We learn from history that we learn nothing
from history. However, in my opinion, that idea is completely not correct, because we must learn
something from the mistakes we made in the past, so that we would not do them one more timeat the
present or in the future.
In my essay, I will use three examples from American history(from 1877 to the present) to disprove
George Bernard Shaw s statement. They are all the mistakes which the American made in the past
have not appeared until today.

campaign pledge and acknowledged that new or increased taxes were necessary. Many
Republican conservatives were critical of this shift, and his popularity ratings fell immediately.
(8) On March 4, 1992, he said: I thought this one compromise, and it was a compromise, would
result in no more tax increases. I thought it would result in total control of domestic discretionary
spending. And now we see Congress talking about raising taxes again. And some in Congress are
talking about trying to break down the spending caps. And so I m disappointed and given all of
that, yes, a mistake. (9)
Let s talk about an example of kept promises. Barak Obama promised to Extend the Bush tax cuts
for lower incomes and he kept his word. He extended the Bush tax cuts for those making less than
$250000 (couples) or $200000(single). (10) He promised to Create an Advanced Manufacturing
Fund to invest in peer reviewed manufacturing processes, and once again he kept his word.
As a president, it would be terrible if that president broke his promise to the public. Once he says
something, he had better follow and do exactly the same as what he said. If not, his words will
become unreliable. Barak Obama was the 44th president of the United States, and it seemed that he
learned a mistake from the 41st president or we can say, from the

Harold Holt Conspiracy Theory
Since the disappearance of the Prime Minister, Harold Holt in 1967, numerous conspiracy
theories have evolved surrounding the nature and circumstances of the event. Some believe that
Mr. Holt was simply another victim of the sea while others are convinced that Holt faked his own
death to flee with his lover, or think that Holt was a taken by a Chinese submarine. These and
many more theories continue to exist and circulate some 48 years later. The most prominent
theory that attempts to explain Harold Holt s disappearance states that he was a victim of the sea.
This involves ideas claiming that he was attacked by a shark or a different marine animal or
drowned because of the rough nature of the water. Witnesses have stated that they saw a build

Montetesquieu And Voltaire And The Enlightenment
As time continued through the European Scientific Revolution, a wide range of new thinkers and
philosophers emerged in society to bring change to the continent throughout the eighteenth century.
This development of new thinking was known as the Enlightenment. Philosophers of the time,
commonly known as philosophes, sought to bring new information and ideas to the people of
Europe and the world. Ultimately, these ideas pertained to all parts of society, including the
government, economic policies, and religion. The continuation of Enlightenment attitudes
reinforced faith in the ideas of change and progress through entertaining completely new forms of
government, new theories in economic policy that aided the European people, and secular... Show

This meant that the government should not interfere with the business of the country, which
contradicted dictation of the government over economics, as in a mercantilistic system. Smith was
considered the Father of Capitalism and he entertained the idea that anyone should be able to profit
independently from business and that a government is unnecessary in regulating business.
Collectively, Smith s ideas about changing economic policy were very progressive and their
relations to the Enlightenment reinforced faith in the overall idea of progress. The Enlightenment
brought the emergence of deism, a new religious denomination. Desists believed that God was the
creator of the heavens and Earth but that he was not directly attached to the everyday events of
human life. They believed that he was not always present and watching over the people on Earth.
This developed the idea that mankind had direct power over their lives and the world around
them, not God. This new idea posed the expansion of the concept of relying on human importance
and significance within the world. This went hand in hand with the belief that humans could be
responsible for earthy events and accomplishments, and that these occurrences did not have to be
connected to God. This so called progress gave man more confidence in his own personal abilities
and skills without having to rely on God for everything, thus making it a very

Separation Of Powers Dbq Essay
The founders of the Constitution had to make a document that would give powers to the people yet
also protect against one or more person getting too powerful. This is called tyranny, or a
government with absolute power. They protected against it by creating Federalism, Separation of
powers, Checks and balances, and Bicameral legislative. This allowed us to have a constitution that
guards against suppressive tyrants.
One of the guards against tyranny is Federalism. Federalism is the sharing of powers between
federal and state governments. This allows an equal balance of power that the states and the federal
governments have and share between one another. One example is that both state and federal can
tax money. Yet only the federal can coin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made it so the House of representation was distributed among states based on their population.
While in the senate, it was equally distributed with two representatives per a state. The Constitution
stated, Representatives...shall be appointed...according to...population and the senate of the United
states shall be composed of two senators from each state (Document D). This means that the states
would be represented in different ways. This would make the big and little states still want to
ratify the Constitution. It protects against tyranny as it allows the voices of the people to be
heard. Whether that is from the house or the senate, or by big or little states, it will still be had by
voters. This makes it so the government doesn t forget the people and

Pseodolus And The Fourth Wall
Pseodolus and the Fourth Wall
Leigh s statement that The edge of the stage is not an invisible boundary over which the actor
must never step but a garden wall across which the actor gossips and flirts with the public as if
they were neighbours seems to have captured the very essence of audience acknowledgement that
is so present in the play Pseudolus. Neither cast nor script of this comedy by Plautus seems
particularly bothered by any notion of the fourth wall, and the play is rife with both blatant and
subtle character acknowledgement of the audience. Indeed the notion that the fourth wall is some
sort of impenetrable barrier between performer and audience seems absurd when one examines the
aims of theatre and performance as a whole, and Pseudolus circumvents and breaches this supposed
barrier with a variety of means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is backed up by Livy s claim that in the old days all poets agebant, produced and acted in
their own plays and if it is true then the scene where Pseudolus speaks of playing the poet is
vaguely autobiographical in nature as Plautus who has taken on the role of Pseudolus to achieve
the goal of entertaining the audience now claims to be taking on a new role, which is in fact his
original role, in order to enable his role as Pseudolus to be enacted to full effect. This sort of
referencing of events that occur outside the play such as the nature of Plautus true identity is never
stated outright in the play, but one cannot ignore the fact that the play behaves as though it were
aware of such knowledge. In the context of Leigh s garden fence analogy, this would be the
equivalent of the neighbour winking over the fence in a silent joke at the secret you share, without
ever actually mentioning

The Paradox Of Emotions In Noel Carroll s The Philosophy...
The genre of horror films have been spooking audiences since the early 1900s with films such as
The Abominable Snowman and Nosferatu. Although fans of these movies are scared, they
continue to watch to the movies every decade despite their fears. This drive to see movies that
induce fear but an overall avoidance to fearis known as a paradox of horror films. In 1990, Noel
Carroll outlined the paradox of horror in his book entitled The Philosophy of Horror. Carroll
discussed in his book at least three theories that could solve the paradox of horror but each are
flawed. The two theories that are connected the most with experience and the knowledge of what
a horror movie experience is the illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions but Carroll
leaves out Edmund Burke s sublime in his discussion of the paradox of horror. This concept of
Burke s sublime can be used without flaw to dissolve the paradox of horror films unlike the
illusion theory or the thought theory of emotions. The paradox of horror movies is that people are
afraid of horror movies despite knowing that the movies are fiction. Carroll attempts to use the
illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions to explain the paradox but neglects to mention
the concept of the sublime which can be used to explain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that terror could influence the sublime and that the sublime itself was whatever is
fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain and danger... Whatever is in any sort terrible, or is

particular theory can be applied, to the paradox of horror films because it states whatever causes
us fear or pain also produces feelings of pleasure. Looking at the concept of the sublime, it can be

An Abusive Relationship With Substance Abuse
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been sitting in on the individual sessions a teenage female
client. She has struggled with anything from the use of substance abuse, divorced parents to now
finding out she is in an abusive relationship. The most difficult thing that I was exposed to was
listening to her talk about toxic relationship. I can relate to this client because I was a part of an
abusive relationship for over four years. It was difficult for me to be attuned to this client. I noticed
my mind to start to wander away from what the client was saying, my heart was racing and body
becoming tense. I was experiencing subjective countertransference. Subjective countertransference

The four resources are located in Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM): Body Resourcing,
Sensory Sacred Place Attunement, Internal Attunement and Nurturing, and Magical Question
(Schwarz Schwenker, 2014). The first stage in CRM is body resourcing. This is where I am
supposed to notice where in my body I feel grounded, centered, and/or calm. I need to bring my
attention to this area of my body. Next, move my eyes to the left side of the room and notice
how strong the body resource feels. Then move my eyes to the right side and notice where the
body resource feels the strongest. I think this may be helpful the next time I am faced with
subjective countertransference. However, I think I would need to practice this outside of being
in session because it may make it even more difficult for me to focus on a place in my body
where I feel calm when I am supposed to be focusing on the client and their own feelings. By
focusing on myself, I am afraid I will trigger an issue to the client relating to some type of
attachment disruption (Schuengel, Oosterman, Sterkenburg, 2009). The second part of CRM is
sensory scared place attunement. With this part, I am supposed to imagine that I am in nature
where I feel really good, a place that I love to be at (Schwarz Schwenker, 2014). While imagining

Pteropod Essay
Pteropods are shelled animals about the dimension a small pea that are consumed by several
animals of almost every size which range from krill to dolphins. Pteropods are at the bottom of
many food chains and a decrease in their numbers can possibly destroy the chances of survival of
multiple species and not only those of the ocean. However, these small creatures are challenged by
the accelerating ocean acidification and thus, their shell formation hampered due to the deficiency
of free calcium carbonate. Several research on pteropod indicates that growth rate and calcification
of shelled pteropods decline with ocean acidification (Busch D.S. et al. 2014; Comeau S. et al.

The Trinity And The Kingdom Of God
Preamble
Over the past few decades there has been much written, from both Catholic and Protestant
perspectives, on the doctrine of the Trinity . The consensus among these various writings has been
that, although the doctrine is important and central to the Christian faith and theology, it has been
neglected and made obscure, and has become a complex and theological technical term . This
obscurity renders the doctrine of the Trinity impossible to understand or apply to ordinary life.
Karl Rahner in his observations insists that modern Christians are almost mere monotheists , only
paying lip service to the doctrine of Trinity but lacking in the actual practices . Rahner s
observation has been widely acknowledged with the desire being to make a change .
The need to place the doctrine of the Trinity at the heart of Christianity would be considered the
epistemological and methodological safe ground upon which other doctrines are based. Since
JГєrgen Moltmann s book The Trinity and the Kingdom of Godwas published in 1980, the
propagation of a social understanding of God has gained propulsion. Kilby says that such an
understanding has become the new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to
swim and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and
watched performances of plays.
Sport in ancient Egypt like all other aspects of ancient Egyptian culture was closely linked up with
religion. During feasts, the public entered the great temples to see and petition their deities and
watch athletes compete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you play games? Maybe you go to the movies. How about listening to music? These are all
things we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun?
From what we have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend.
They listened to musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The
history of sport probably extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and
active beings. Sport has been a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the
environment. Of course, as we go further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories
of the origins and purposes of sport difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human
history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary
equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were
rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in

My Day Of School After Winter Break
Numb Toes and Good Times
There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the
first snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I can see myself now, getting released on my last
day of school before winter break. Second grade might not have been a struggle, but a couple
weeks off of school was just what a little me needed. I trudged home through the snow and slush.
The sidewalks were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints
made by others or risk a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin
peeled across my face. This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th.
Christmas mostly meant a couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite
vacation out west to the mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all
seven of us; heads morphed onto the Little Rascals characters. At the time this was probably
relatively funny, but now it s pretty much just embarrassing. The poems on the cards were always
the best, I m sure my second grader friends couldn t interpret the jokes my mom wrote, but their
moms would. We would start planning our Christmas cards around September, it was way too
early but I guess it was necessary, to create a comic masterpiece. I never understood how she made
everything rhyme and flow so well, it still amazes me to this day.
When I finally made it home, like clockwork, my mom yelled at me

Essay on Nasser and the United States
In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in a bloodless
coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council
(RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a
mere figurehead and in a little over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency.
Although the goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a
policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It was the latter
goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially Great Britain and to a lesser
extent France, but eventually the United States. As such, Nasser s commitment... Show more content

Accordingly, the United States, in the midst of their conflict in Korea, could not have been more
pleased. As Great Britain s power in the Middle East was waning, the contest between the United
States and the Soviet Union increased in order to fill the vacuum of power left by the slowly
vacating British. Immediately upon seizing power, the RCC showed a willingness to brutally
suppress domestic communist activities. According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was
enthusiastic about the new regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations
with the United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti
British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary.
The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle East in a
sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time appeared to have
generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser stated his willingness to align with
the west while seeing the USSR as the only real threat to Egypt s independence, the United States
responded by providing propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world. The
appearance of solidarity, however, was soon to be tested.

My Experience At Middle School
In middle school, 5th to 8th grade, I endure multiple adjective to describe my experience in

visually observe. Until recently, I ve overcome my inability of reading in public and/or to my
peers. As my cousin passed away tragically, his mother (my Aunt) asked if I will read his poem
to her and a group of 50 strangers. She knew my fear of public speaking, she also knew my
dream of becoming a teacher and starting to a career as a substitute teacher. Therefore, she knew
I needed to overcome the fear of speaking. I am extremely pleased with myself to speak clearly
and to have the strength and encouragement of my family to overcome my greatest fear with a
poem in dedication to my beloved cousin. In 5th grade, my insecurity resulted in myself being
bullied by others for my appearance which I expressed still affects myself as an adult. When

The Positive Side Of The Internet
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT 1
Right from the inception of the Internet in 1969, there has been a drastic increase in its growth.
Over the years the world has become more and more dependent on the internet due to its ease in
accessibility, reduced cost and tons of information in all fields. As there are two sides to coins,
there are two sides to this both positive and negative with respect to its impact on people. The
positive side to the internet with reference to Dr.Leonard Klienrock lecture at infocom 2006 is
that it has removed the barrier in between the people, increased the speed of interaction and
reduced cost of receiving access to the technology. This has increased to a larger extent in the
past 9 years; from receiving a data speed from 50kbps to 1Gbps or maybe beyond is a noticeable
example of advancement in the Internet. The internet was basically invented to transfer
resourceful information among a group of researchers. Over the years humans have begun
looking at it in a different angle which has made it a part of our lives. The internet has affected
the people personal, economic and social life profoundly. An example more than 1.5 billion people
(apart from the rest use the internet)as of today use Facebook which surely proves two things, one
nearly 25% of the world s population have access to the internet and two, 25% of the people can
interact with each other with just a click. The internet has brought people under one roof and made
the world smaller. The other name I

The Causes Of Air Pollution In Beijing, China
Beijing, China has a coal mining history of nearly 800 and some odd years. This has been a major
air pollutant and the main reason for it is because its economy has grown substantially in the last 30
years. Worldwide, there are twenty cities with the highest, worst air pollution, sixteen of those cities
are within China alone. The main causes of Beijing s air pollutioncan be pointed to several factors.
Large economical growth, an increase in vehicles on the roads, growth in population, and
manufacturing. China has also experienced major economic growth with a large rise in Gross
Domestic Product. This increase can be connected with pollution. Vehicles are just one contributor
to pollution which we will discuss later in this paper. The population growth in Beijing contributes
to a big portion of its pollution. The population has risen from 11 million to 16 million in just 7
years, and has nearly doubled over the past century. Factories that utilize coal burning contribute to
the smogcurrently present in Beijing. Many of these factories depend on outdated and inefficient
technology which emits air pollutants. Beijing is a victim of its own topography since it s
surrounded by mountains which traps pollution within the city. Air quality worsens in the spring
and summer seasons when the humidity and temperature levels increase. Air pollution has been so
drastic to the point that the city often engulfs in smog making it near zero visibility which in turn
causing road

  • 2. The Mormon Service I Visited The Mormon service I visited, had a few similarities but also a few distinct differences from the Catholic service that I am used to. Before this particular Sunday, I had never attended a Mormon service, nor had I spoken to anyone who believed in Mormonism or the Latter Day Saints. With that being said, I was welcomed much more openly than I had originally thought. Before entering, I was approached by two members of the church; two young women (sisters) between the ages of roughly 19 to 22. I arrived about an hour before service, that way I could ask a few people some questions, but the two girls beat me to the punch. They initially asked me if I had visited before and I responded saying that it was my first time, and I was attending as a student observer, with no intention of converting, but would love to learn about the faith. They nodded and proceeded to explain to me the reasons as to why they believed so strongly, and also a bit of background information on the faith. One of the girls, explained to me that there has been a lot of skepticism about Mormonismdue in part to the fact that Joseph Smith Jr, was so young and how his explanation of Moroni (An angel no one had ever heard of), and his entire religion and the scripture used, Book of Mormon, could have just been a part of his imagination. The other girl told me how she was beginning to lose faith a couple years back, but she then regained it, after she experienced her own tests, and was able to get passed her ... • 3. International Culture In Nigeria A culture defined is the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average individual? When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly identical. Although this may be true, it is always interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture compares to others. Nigeria(when compared to the United States) is a very different place which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old, in contrast, the United States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live can make an individual very successful when they find themselves in a foreign environments. Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in the world. Despite its size Nigeria has a population of 190,632,261, according to The World Factbook (2017), which is the seventh largest in the world. The President of Nigeria is ... • 5. My Fear Of Thunders And Thunder My fear of thunders and lightning It is truly fascinating how children experience and overcome many fears as they are growing up and learning whether or not something is scary. Astraphobia, otherwise known as the Phobia (fear) of anything related to lightning and thunder, is one of them. It undoubtedly is one of the most complicated things I have ever had to defeat. I obviously was afraid of lightning, but I realized how ridiculous and even pathetic it could be for me. Being among my friends, leaving them and start looking for a place where I could feel more comfortable and safer (a sort of shelter). Sometimes hiding underneath a bed, covering my ears and even crying because acting like that is not logical to those who have no phobia, I felt like abandoned. All of that because of something that occurs within the clouds, far away. Overcoming a phobia of something can magically increase your self confidence. Sometimes, it is what others think about us that makes us to think about changing. Do not fear, my father always said. Before your teenage years, it will be gone. And he was right. According to fearof.net , most cases of excessive fear of thunder, lightning gradually diminish over the years ; but my case seemed to be particular. One of my most effective remedy against this fright, which had so many times made me feel ridiculous towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Tweeter Case Study Tweeter Case Questions 1. Objectively and subjectively, is Tweeter price competitive? Why or why not? Tweeter is an electronics store that pride itself on selling middle and high end goods. To see if they were price competitive, we would have to evaluate them with similar stores like Cambridge sounds waves as opposed to Walmart. Before APP in 1993, it would not have been possible to evaluate Tweeter s price competitiveness since there was no systematic benchmarking present. However with the APP, objectively, I think that Tweeter did try to price their goods competitively with other similar goods. The APP strategy showed that their prices were competitive even in comparison with cost leader competitors like Lechmere. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Customers now perceive Tweeter as expensive but not more than its other competitors. By changing the marketing mix and including the buyer guide, it tells the customers who are interested in high quality, the features of the products and ensures them that they are taking a calculated decision. These customers who are particular about the product now appreciate Tweeter s efforts to provide technical advice and provide fair advices about the product through the guide. Doing all these helps change the customer s perception of Tweeter of being expensive, it is trying to convey to customers that their price on the high quality goods are matched to its other competitors. Its unique selling proposition of high quality and customer service is embedded in the minds of its customers and that s how they are differentiating themselves from the other retailers. I think overall, their new marketing strategy really fits well and targets their niche market of Quality/Service customer. Such customers are interested in premium products yet concern about price and I think Tweeter s marketing message and marketing mix really targets those customers. I also think that the buyer s guide is Tweeter s great way of establishing itself as the tech go to and standard for tech products, similar to Kelly s blue book for cars. Also, the buyers guide is a great way to establish brand image and relationship between its customers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But while he was studying Theology the study of religion from University of Bonn, he became a loyal atheist after reading Arthur Schopenhauer s Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung. Nietzsche is the most. There can be little doubt that Nietzsche is the most influential figure in modern atheism. Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most interesting, litigious and probably one of the clearest thinkers in western history. His philosophy still fascinates enthusiasts and the curious till date. He is considered one of the fathers of a still popular philosophical movement called existentialism. He was of the view that people are free and they can control their destiny on their own. Nietzsche believed that sooner or later a better kind of human race shall emerge whom he called the Ubermensch in German meaning a superior human. He claimed that as man was evolved from apes, this Ubermensch will emerge from this weak man as a superior human who will be without fear. The insight on women and their specific role amongst the church is what collides. When watching the PBS film, it states that even though women are very frequent in the church, their role is very small and not as important as the men. They don t have a specific role nor importance to the church. John Paul feels this is the correct way to run the system of the church. He believes this due to the fact that men can become priests and have the highest role in the church. On the other hand, Pope Francis had a big issue with this topic that he made comments about possibly changing the system in the future. According to the article by Spadero, he explains Pope Francis view of women in the life of the Church by stating, The church cannot be herself without the woman and her role. The woman is essential for the church. Mary, a woman, is more important than the bishops. I say this because we must not confuse the function with the dignity. We must therefore investigate further the role of women in the church. We have to work harder to develop a profound theology of the woman. Pope Francis believes women can make a dramatic difference in the church can help with the real word decisions the church is facing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This area is incredibly emphasized because of how everything revolves around it; if anyone was to sit right in the middle of it, he/she would be engulfed by the relaxing atmosphere. Sitting there would permit anyone to see buildings a hundred times his/her size in any direction he /she would turn. For instance, someone can see the well known AT T skyscraper, also known as the Batman Building, which is more than thirty stories tall. At the bottom section of grass, there are two art structures; the art structures seemingly match the configuration of a human from torso to head, but unlike actual humans, these structures are transparent. Containing various colors of lucid lights inside the figurine, the color of the lights depends on the day. Unlike actual people, these statues have one arm raced at all times, pointing horizontally to the side. Around each art installation, there are four stone benches surrounding them for people to sit on. When one walks past both structures, to the South, one will find a black marble reflection pool containing water to stomp in, used by children and many adults. Because of the smallness of the runway and the need for some coolness, especially on summer days, many will start splashing in the fountains located at the southern part of the park. The water seems to go to an anonymous beat because of its altitude going from short to tall, one step at a time. Ultimately, the most known instrument of the park is the observation deck, made by two tan towers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Blithedale Romance And The House Of The Seven Gables The literary genre of Romanticism was popular throughout the nineteenth century. Romanticism consists of six main characteristics; the individual, intuition, imagination, nature, emotions, and the unknown. Each Romantic author portrayed their view of the genre in their novels; each one in a slightly different manner. The authors each have a different emphasis on the characteristics depending on the plot of their novels. Nathaniel Hawthorne s prefaces to The Blithedale Romance and The House of the Seven Gables and his short tale The Custom House incorporate the Romantic ideals of intuition, nature, and imagination. These three Romantic traits are prevalent and key throughout Hawthorne s first novel, The Scarlet Letter, as Hawthorne uses them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nature plays an important role in society, the writing of Romantic novels, and in the plot of Hawthorne s tales. Hawthorne shows the importance of nature, as a whole, to Romanticism by describing the context of the scenery; he would, be glad, therefore, if especially in the quarter to which he alludes the book may be read strictly as a Romance, having a great deal more to do with the clouds overhead than with any portion of the actual soil of the County of Essex. In describing the preponderance of nature to the plot of The House of the Seven Gables, Hawthorne demonstrates the necessity of nature to Romanticism. In The Scarlet Letter nature also plays an important role. Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne commit their passionate sin whilst surrounded by nature in the forest on the outskirts of town. The two paramours are also reunited here after seven years apart. Pearl, the creation of their passionate sin, is portrayed as being the most comfortable whilst surrounded by nature. She is calm and at peace in nature. In contrast, when Pearl is in the Puritan society, she is prickly and distrusting of those around her. Peal characterises the Romantic fascination with natural ... The way he writes this piece makes you go through multiple emotions: anger, disappointment, frustration, fear, etc. In my opinion, a writer uses techniques, such as tone, to portray how they feel on a topic. With this being said, I read different tones throughout the essay. He used sarcasm in consistently referring to the citizens as good people, yet telling us that some of them did not want to get involved or were too tired. These are not examples of a good person. Not a single witness called the police until it was too late. Again, this is not something a good person does. Secondly, Gansberg uses an approach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roosevelt said one of the most recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. There are studies that have proven without debate that states that have the most restricting gun laws have the highest crime rates. Studies show that states that adopt shall issue laws reduce murders by 8.5%, rapes by 5%, assault by 7% and robbery by 3%, which translates to 1570 murders, 4177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and 12,000 robberies (Lott 1). Shall issue laws are laws that if you take a state certified state and pass a background check you can receive a concealed carry license, this means that you must conceal the weapon, generally a pistol. Benefits of concealed carry do not just benefit those who carry them or use them in self defense. The very fact that those weapons are concealed keeps criminals uncertain as to whether potential victims will be able to defend themselves with lethal force. The most support for strict gun laws are in large cities where crimerates are the highest and shall issue laws would help out tremendously, people that are uneducated on the real use of weapons know how useful they can be and they can save lives. The main question is, with marijuana being legalized in Colorado and tolerated in the Netherlands, what is the affect of such legalization? The legalization of marijuana, for some, is not something to take lightly, but I do not think it is the worst drug. In my own opinion heroin and cocaine are two drugs that should not be legal because of the harmful effects they cause. Marijuana, in my own opinion is the lesser of the two evils, so if states and countries want to legalize it, they can do what they please. The name of the religion, Asatru, is a twofold word that gets it s meaning from Old Norse. The first half of the word, Asa, means Gods and Goddesses and the second half Tru, means to have faith or belief in. Altogether Asatru means to have faith in the gods. Asatru can be considered part of the Neo pagan family of religion since it has to do with Norse Heathenism. The beginning of Asatru was not the start of the religion itself yet a revival of an older religion. Before Asatru there was the Nordic religion. This religion was practiced before Christianity came around. The Nordic religion is thousands of years old and its beginnings are lost in prehistory. Yet, it is associated with the age of Vikings. Ancient Asatru and Modern Asatru is a folk or tribal religion. In the 20th century an Icelandic sheep farmer named SveinbjГ¶rn Beinteinsson created an Asatru organization. My first impression of the inspector when he first arrives in the book, is that of a very serious and clever man, a man that takes his work very seriously, we see an example of this when Mr. Birling says, Have a glass of port or a little whiskey? and the Inspector replies, No, thank you, Mr. Birling. • 31. The Truman Corner Shopping Center Please note that the table excludes the existing Truman Corner Shopping Center, which will be redeveloped into the proposed Truman s Marketplace. There is about 2.5 million SF of retail space in major centers located within five miles of the site. About 40% of this space is within three miles of the site. The further away the center is from the redevelopment site the less likely it will provide competition with Truman s Marketplace. In our opinion, retail centers such as Ward Parkway, Stateline Station and those in Leawood are far enough away that they would serve a separate market. Even much of the space within three miles of the site is predominately older, poorly maintained product that may not effectively compete with the proposed project. Just beyond the five mile radius from the site are several newer retail centers that either were developed or will be developed by principals of Legacy Truman. All of these properties are located in Lee s Summit and represent major concentrations of retail and restaurant space at the I 470 and US 50/MO 350 interchange. • 32. Increasing Competition On The Balance Sheet With the increasing competition on the balance sheet both between banks and from non banks financial institutions, banks have diversified their product into non intermediary financial services as a result. One of the results of this has been the remarkable growth in the percentage of off balance sheet (henceforth OBS) activities. Generally, OBS item refers to an asset or debt that does not appear on the banks balance sheet, e.g. standby letters of credit, currency and interest rate swaps etc. In the last two decades, with the deregulation of the financial markets and improvement in financial innovations, banks are encouraged to offer new financial products and services to increase their profit (Jurman, 2005). Actually, decreasing profitability of traditional banking and increasing competitiveness of markets force banks to undertake OBS activities. Therefore, banks have expanded OBS activities dramatically, not only on the volume of traditional OBS items, but also the use of risky innovations (Khambata and Hirche, 2002). The data of European commercial banks shows, the OBS activities increased from less than 50% of total outstanding loans in the early 1990s to 150% of loans in the early 2000s. A similar trend has also occurred among commercial banks in the United States (Bos and Kolari, 2013). Specifically, on the one hand, as we can see from table 1, the share of OBS activities have been growing dramatically among sample developed markets banking industry. On the other ... • 33. The Internet And Its Impact On Our Lives Essay According to History.com, in 1965, ARPAnet, also known today as the Internet, was invented for military purposes. However, Tim Berners Lee had a different intention for ARPAnet. He invented the worldwide web where information was accessible for anyone. Centuries ago, to impart knowledge or information from the past and pass it from one person to another, books were created. To obtain it, they had to go to a library, read tons of books about a certain topic, jotted down and remembered the details they need. Today, all you need is an internet access and you could have an enormous amount of data at your fingertips in an object that was manufactured with the same size as a brick. Libraries were mainly used to obtain a physical evidence of a documentation needed for research, studies, papers or projects. As stated in History.com, for 56 years, the Internet had evolved. It became an ultimate tool in our daily lives. However, nothing comes without a price. Nicholas Carr, an author of the article Is Google Making Us Stupid? , published in The Atlantic as to how the Internet, specifically google, is changing the way we read and the way we interact with reading materials. On the other hand, John Battelle, an author, and a journalist, wrote a polemical article entitled Google: Making Nick Carr, But It s Made This Guy Smarter published his response to Carr in his own blog. • 34. Mexican American And Mexican Americans Essay Introduction One of the largest Hispanic origin population in the United states are Mexicans (Gonzales Barrera Lopez, 2013). Mexican American s are considered minorities in the United States. There are many reason why I am choosing to explore Mexican Americans for this paper. As a minority myself, I can relate to some of the struggles that Mexican American s may face. However, there are some things that I will never relate to or know the personal aspect of the Mexican culture. Just like any other population, Mexican Americans have their own culture, values, and challenges. Strengths Mexican Americans find their strength through their culture, family, relationships and networks. Mexican Americans have strengths with their extended family. Mexican American families frequently function within extended family networks that include godparents and members of other families (Miley, M., L., 2013). There is more advantage when you have more network with extended family and other families. It essentially means a larger support system. One of the major strengths of Mexican American families is a quantitative rather than a qualitative difference from other ethnic groups (Miley, M., L., 2013). Some people may not realize that Mexican Americans tend to stick together and support each other because it is a part of their cultural background. Collectively, Smith s ideas about changing economic policy were very progressive and their relations to the Enlightenment reinforced faith in the overall idea of progress. Neither cast nor script of this comedy by Plautus seems particularly bothered by any notion of the fourth wall, and the play is rife with both blatant and subtle character acknowledgement of the audience. The two theories that are connected the most with experience and the knowledge of what a horror movie experience is the illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions but Carroll leaves out Edmund Burke s sublime in his discussion of the paradox of horror. Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in the picture on the right fighting during the corn ... • 52. My Day Of School After Winter Break Numb Toes and Good Times There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the first snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I can see myself now, getting released on my last day of school before winter break. Second grade might not have been a struggle, but a couple weeks off of school was just what a little me needed. I trudged home through the snow and slush. The sidewalks were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints made by others or risk a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin peeled across my face. This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th. Christmas mostly meant a couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite vacation out west to the mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all seven of us; heads morphed onto the Little Rascals characters. At the time this was probably relatively funny, but now it s pretty much just embarrassing. The poems on the cards were always the best, I m sure my second grader friends couldn t interpret the jokes my mom wrote, but their moms would. We would start planning our Christmas cards around September, it was way too early but I guess it was necessary, to create a comic masterpiece. I never understood how she made everything rhyme and flow so well, it still amazes me to this day. When I finally made it home, like clockwork, my mom yelled at me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Essay on Nasser and the United States In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in a bloodless coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council (RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a mere figurehead and in a little over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency. Although the goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It was the latter goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially Great Britain and to a lesser extent France, but eventually the United States. As such, Nasser s commitment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accordingly, the United States, in the midst of their conflict in Korea, could not have been more pleased. As Great Britain s power in the Middle East was waning, the contest between the United States and the Soviet Union increased in order to fill the vacuum of power left by the slowly vacating British. Immediately upon seizing power, the RCC showed a willingness to brutally suppress domestic communist activities. According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was enthusiastic about the new regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations with the United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary. The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle East in a sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time appeared to have generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser stated his willingness to align with the west while seeing the USSR as the only real threat to Egypt s independence, the United States responded by providing propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world. The appearance of solidarity, however, was soon to be tested. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. My Experience At Middle School In middle school, 5th to 8th grade, I endure multiple adjective to describe my experience in middle school. While in Middle School, I struggle with my appearance which has stayed as an adult. For I always look at myself and all the flaws in my features, as my family members and/or friends state my beauty features, I will brushed them off by stating the negative feature I visually observe. Until recently, I ve overcome my inability of reading in public and/or to my peers. As my cousin passed away tragically, his mother (my Aunt) asked if I will read his poem to her and a group of 50 strangers. She knew my fear of public speaking, she also knew my dream of becoming a teacher and starting to a career as a substitute teacher. Therefore, she knew I needed to overcome the fear of speaking. I am extremely pleased with myself to speak clearly and to have the strength and encouragement of my family to overcome my greatest fear with a poem in dedication to my beloved cousin. In 5th grade, my insecurity resulted in myself being bullied by others for my appearance which I expressed still affects myself as an adult. When conduction presentation as I displayed unconfident with my appearances, therefore in English, I failed behind. I would hid in a corner and during reading groups, and when asked to read, I would stutter and/or have an excuse for not being able to read. In 6th grade, being shy and not able to talk to others as I being afraid of what they thought and would say as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Positive Side Of The Internet HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT 1 Right from the inception of the Internet in 1969, there has been a drastic increase in its growth. Over the years the world has become more and more dependent on the internet due to its ease in accessibility, reduced cost and tons of information in all fields. As there are two sides to coins, there are two sides to this both positive and negative with respect to its impact on people. The positive side to the internet with reference to Dr.Leonard Klienrock lecture at infocom 2006 is that it has removed the barrier in between the people, increased the speed of interaction and reduced cost of receiving access to the technology. This has increased to a larger extent in the past 9 years; from receiving a data speed from 50kbps to 1Gbps or maybe beyond is a noticeable example of advancement in the Internet. The internet was basically invented to transfer resourceful information among a group of researchers. Over the years humans have begun looking at it in a different angle which has made it a part of our lives. The internet has affected the people personal, economic and social life profoundly. An example more than 1.5 billion people (apart from the rest use the internet)as of today use Facebook which surely proves two things, one nearly 25% of the world s population have access to the internet and two, 25% of the people can interact with each other with just a click. The internet has brought people under one roof and made the world smaller. The other name I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. The Causes Of Air Pollution In Beijing, China Beijing, China has a coal mining history of nearly 800 and some odd years. This has been a major air pollutant and the main reason for it is because its economy has grown substantially in the last 30 years. Worldwide, there are twenty cities with the highest, worst air pollution, sixteen of those cities are within China alone. The main causes of Beijing s air pollutioncan be pointed to several factors. Large economical growth, an increase in vehicles on the roads, growth in population, and manufacturing. China has also experienced major economic growth with a large rise in Gross Domestic Product. This increase can be connected with pollution. Vehicles are just one contributor to pollution which we will discuss later in this paper. The population growth in Beijing contributes to a big portion of its pollution. The population has risen from 11 million to 16 million in just 7 years, and has nearly doubled over the past century. Factories that utilize coal burning contribute to the smogcurrently present in Beijing. Many of these factories depend on outdated and inefficient technology which emits air pollutants. Beijing is a victim of its own topography since it s surrounded by mountains which traps pollution within the city. Air quality worsens in the spring and summer seasons when the humidity and temperature levels increase. Air pollution has been so drastic to the point that the city often engulfs in smog making it near zero visibility which in turn causing road ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
