Gender and Advertising
How Gender Shapes Meaning
The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, It s
a girl.
Shirley Chisholm
Men are dogs and women are cats. Women are from Venus and men are from Mars. Writers,
filmmakers, psychologists, and advertisers all have used the idea that men and women are
different to develop stories, create conflict, and provide persuasive imagery. Not only do advertisers
view men and women differently, but men and women also bring different perspectives to
advertising. Thus, we can assume that men and women create dif ferent meanings from the
advertisements they see. Gender roles in our society have changed dramatically since ... Show more

Once the meaning from an advertisement has been determined, men and women differ in how that
meaning is used. These different decision making processes are related to whether the process is
linear or more nonlinear in nature. Men process messages and make decisions more quickly than
women do, perhaps because men focus on the primary mes sage of a given advertisement and take
in little other information during the process. This is due to the observation that men have a linear
thinking and reasoning style, and men tend to have a more task oriented focus than women have.
Women, on the other hand, process the information in an advertisement quickly and from many
levels and sources, including music, visuals, voice over, and text. Women also tend to evaluate and
weigh the various sources to process the message and determine what steps to take next. Women s
reasoning processes are less task oriented and more compartmentalized than men s are. Women s
decision making processes are characterized as being incremental reasoning processes, where each
piece of information builds on the previous information that is taken in. This non linear approach to
reasoning allows women to think in terms of interrelated factors, not straight lines. The observation
that women evaluate multiple sources supports this reason ing style (Fisher, 1999).
Women and men respond to entirely different stimuli when viewing and evaluating advertising

Taking A Look At The Sainsbury Corporation
This research study focuses on the Sainsbury Corporation and the way its online shopping
initiation has affected its leadership style and the treatment of employees in its corporation. The
online shopping initiated by the corporation is basically done for the comfort of the consumers, in
order to provide them the opportunity to shop from their homes and not come to the store for their
purchases. However, this has created a certain bad environment with the employees as some of the
employees are not in favour of this new initiation. The research study will utilise the secondary
research as well as the primary research as its methodology in order to understand the topic with
much detail. Online shoppingis the new phenomenon that is taking place... Show more content on

Sainsbury is aware that it needs to put its customers as the centre of its focus, therefore, they
have made certain that not only their stores, but also their colleagues and channels provide the
best kind of shopping experience. Sainsbury pays special attention to its quality and makes
certain the prices kept of products are fair in every way. Sainsbury has around 23 sites in United
Kingdom itself, and the stores are supported by delivering approximately 16 million stocking
points every day. There are around 1.2 billion cases to over 1,000 stores every year. Furthermore,
the corporation provides approximately 1.1 million deliveries to stores every year. On an
average, 23.7 million cases are delivered to stores each week; whilst 30 million cases in a week
are increased during Christmas time. During Christmas time, the busiest stores of Sainsbury get
around 185 deliveries from depots, with an average of one full depot delivery happening every
54 minutes. It should be noted that this delivery excludes direct deliveries of bread, milk, and
any other item. The corporation s vehicles travel around 172,000,000 km each year in order to
provide supplies on time to each of its stores. There are 16 stores which require ferries to complete
deliveries. The transport fleet comprises of 1,140 tractor units, 200 rigids, and 2,160 trailers. All

Whales are some of the ocean’s most fascinating amphibious...
Whales are some of the ocean s most fascinating amphibious beings. They possess highly acquired
communication skills and are believed to have an intelligence level equal to, and in some species,
surpass that of the human brain. The biological, anthropological, and marine educational
communities have studied the whalein a way that sheds light onto the studies of evolution as well.
Yet, there are industries that subject these animals to captivity, hindering the natural development
of these animals. Of all the communities contributing to the protection and study of the whale, there
is one tipping the scale towards exploiting it for profit: The entertainment industry. Above the zoos
and aquariums, who are just as guilty of exploiting animals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Living conditions for the whale are not up to par for what is required even for the smallest of orca
calves. Due to the small living constraints, animals feel claustrophobic resulting in mental health
side effects such as psychological trauma. These living conditions also play a factor in captive
whales life expectancies. Finally, SeaWorlds public image of the business is to prevent the
practice of whaling, creating a scapegoat by claiming they do not endorse its activities. However,
SeaWorld also requires healthy, big whales sustainable for a number of decades. SeaWorld s
solution is to have a continuous supply of reproduction through insemination and inter breeding
with other parks outside of their San Antonio, San Diego and Orlando locations. Since the
release of CNN documentary Blackfish, much has been said about the life expectancy statistics
informed to the general public by SeaWorld parks, claiming an average life expectancy for all
whales from 20 30 years. According to several studies published in scientific journals, average
mortality rates for captive whales are three times higher than in the wild (Parsons). Based on 14
years of American and Canadian research, Olesiuk et al. 1990 concludes females mean life
expectancy is 50.2 years with a maximum longevity of about 80 90 years...Males have a mean life
expectancy of 29.2 years and have a maximum longevity of about 50 60

Normative Ethics
Moral Reasoning Guidelines Making good moral decisions is difficult and part of the difficulty
is that we do not live in a vacuum. Making moral decisions are complex and are connected to
different contexts. You are being asked to do an ethical analysis as compared to a political,
religious, or economic one. Your research topic or case study focuses on a moral dilemma and
probably has several different proposals or solutions to your dilemma.. For our purposes, it is not
so important which moral judgment or moral rule you draw, (Discovery essay) but on how well
you justify, defend, and argue for your moral position (Justification essay) and that you demonstrate
clear and consistent reasoning as well as critical thinking skills. In making... Show more content on

We must always ask ourselves what values are at stake or what value a particular action respects
or promotes, neglects, or thwarts. This section will be an important part of your essay, so be

importance to you. What is the reasoning behind your ranking? Closely review Exploring Values,
Rules, and Principles. Delineating the moral values, ranking them, and explaining them are an
important section of your paper and must be included in it. We must know what we value before
we can begin to make an informed moral decision. Your highest ranking value should be the one

Tap. Swirl. Pirouette. Move like your body is free from all shackles. With a burning desire in your
heart, dance, like your life depends on it. Dance, like nobody is watching.
When your mind wants to express something, you speak. When your heart wants to express
something, your face does the talking. Similarly, dance is the body s way of expressing itself.
India, with its rich cultural heritage, has plenty to offer. One of the most famous forms of culture
that depicts Indian tradition, are the classical dance forms. The mother of classical dance forms is
Bharatnatyam.
HISTORY
Bharatnatyam is presumably the oldest classical dance heritage of India. Conventionally a solo
dance performed only by women, it initiated in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu. Eventually, it
flourished in South India. The theoretical base for this dance form is the Natya Shastra , an ancient
Hindu text about the performing arts. Bharatnatyam depicts Hindu religious themes and spiritual
ideas, by way of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nattuvanar can also play the cymbals or any other instrument. Bharatnatyam is mostly
associated with Carnatic music. The instruments that complement a Bharatnatyam performance
consist of cymbals, the flute, a long pipe horn called nagaswaram, a drum called the mridangam,
and the veena. The verses recited during a performance are usually in Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada and
Telugu.
Bharatnatyam is a highly revered, and the most difficult dance form to perfect. The poise, grace
and precision one learns from this art form, cannot be matched by any other. If you can master
Bharatnatyam, you can master any dance form in the world!
Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.

Revolutionary War Without The Pamphlet Common Sense By...
The freedom of press sounds like one of the things we shouldn t be focused on, especially with
everything else that is going on in our world. Why exactly is this an important freedom? I have
always found it to be a little bit strange that we are protecting the right to say hateful things about
people you barely know. It doesn t sound like it should be as important as things like torture or
murder. Sometimes words can hurt, but they can also be used to do great things. Think about all of
the influential books, newspapers, and websites that have helped to change the world for the better.

Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are Essay
Character of Godly Leaders
The word character naturally conjures up an array of specific attributes distinctive of an
individual or environment. Our earliest experiences with character likely stem from being read
classic children s books, like Maurice Sendak s, Where The Wild Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s,
Green Eggs and Ham, which portray distinct personality traits within the main character and
demonstrate evolution of self as the character acquires knowledge from his or her life experience.
Like the characters within our favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being
whose shape can transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life
journey.
The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which
a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle
Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The
immaculate nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus,
As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God
who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love. I
continue to show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who
refuse to obey me. And I forgive those who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing

Essay On Anger
The effects of anger on health have more to do with duration than frequency and intensity. The
normal experience of overt anger lasts only a few minutes. But the subtle forms of anger, such as
resentment, impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time.
Consistent, prolonged levels of angergive a person a five times greater chance of dying before age
50. Anger elevates blood pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression,
anxiety disorders, and, in general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little
aches and pains or get a lot of colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). To make

You have an anger problem if some subtle form of anger that you may not even be aware of makes
you do what is not in your best interest or keeps you from performing at your highest potential. This
could mean something subtle, like putting a chilly wall between you and others or a continual
impatience or low frustration tolerance that interferes with problem solving and performance
competence.
Whatever the form of anger, in persistence you run the risk of becoming a reactaholic, with your
thoughts, feelings, and behavior totally controlled by whoever or whatever you re reacting to. The
more reactive you are, the more powerless you feel; anger is ultimately a cry of powerlessness.
Self Compassion and Compassion for Others
Mastery of the three steps of self compassion and compassion for others makes us virtually immune
to the ill effects of anger. The first step of self compassion is seeing beneath the symptom or
defense (anger, anxiety, manipulation, obnoxious behavior) to the cause, which is some form of
core hurt (feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected,
powerless, unlovable). Second, the core hurt must be validated (this is how I feel at this moment),
and, third, changed (this behavior or event or disappointment or mistake does not mean that I m
unimportant, not valuable or lovable.) Compassion for others is recognizing that their symptoms,
defenses, and obnoxious behavior come from a core hurt,

The Analysis And Performance Of Two Different Mill Tools
Abstract
Milling is a vital process used in the industry to make and assembling the components. The
extensive and expensive experimental work is necessary to determine the optimal of machining
process parameters for obtaining the desired machined quality. In this regard, the present work is
focused on the relationship between the input process parameters and machined surface integrity
for minimizing the machined damage. Moreover, the paper presents the comparative analysis and
performance of two different mill tools such as a specially designed carbide tipped tool and a solid
carbide tool. Subsequently, comparing the evaluation of two tools was illustrated by plotting origin
graphs. Finally, experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by SEM to investigate the cutting
characteristics of machined laminates.
Key words: cutting process parameters, GFRP composite laminates, compression moulding, a
solid carbide end mill tool and a specially designed carbide tipped milling tool, SEM.
Introduction
FRP composites having superior material properties when compared with metals, improved
corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, less weight to strength ratio and high fracture toughness.

The over usage of video games has appeared to affect the mind in the OFC, the striatum, and the
sensory regions. Addict gamers appeared to have more of a impulsiveness control than the normal
gamer. Players who had played online showed an increase of gray matter density from the other
players in the left anterior cingulate cortex. Another thing I found interesting in this article was that
higher amounts of dopamine appeared in addict gamers from the reward process in videogames
than the casual gamer. The Cambridge gambling task ( which affects the brain in making poor
decisions) was found higher in addict gamers. Not only that, but addict gamers appeared to have a
slower information processing than normal players.
What I took away from the article was that video game addiction could be linked backed to the
same effects on the brain as drug abuse, or impulsive control disorders. Playing video games
regularly may not trigger these effects, but the heavy usage of video games appears to affect the
rewarding process which thus releases a higher dopamine in the brain. High concentration of
dopamine can also be found in drug which gives you that good feeling . It is not always associated,
but drug abuse can occur from a depression or other disorders. Video games also act as an escape
from depression, acting almost as if it too was a drug. Both appeared to

Film And Literature American Pop Culture
Modern Jewish identity is explored and represented through various portrayals in film and literature
American pop culture. A complicated facet of this identity is associated around Jewish masculinity
and where the Jewish man fits in contemporary society. Brought forth in Otto Weininger s Sex and
Character we come to understand that the Jewish man is perceived to be effeminate and lacking the
character traits most commonly associated with the true masculine identity that is most popular for
the portrayal of men in the media of today. Films such as The Producers, A Serious Man
and Annie
Hall all represent characters that adhere to the traits of the Jewish man Weininger describes. The
filmmakers intentions of showing this characterization stems from an acknowledgement of validity
and what that means to be a Jewish man in modern American culture.
In order to fully understand what traits to look for in the characters, we must recognize where their
characterizations are coming from. Otto Weininger s Sex and Character is based entirely upon the
notion bisexuality, the idea that a person incorporates attributes associated with both sexes to make
up their character. He believed that bisexuality is a universal phenomenon among all people. He
suggests that men and women aren t completely different sexes, but rather that men and women
exhibit various levels of qualities that are associated with man or woman . He postulates that there
is a spectrum of sexualities that range from

Essay on The Significance of the Night of Long Knives
The Night of Long Knives, one of most noteworthy events during Hitler s rule, was a purge that
occurred on the 30th June 1934. Hitler ordered the murders of conspicuous Conservative anti
Nazis such as Kurt Von Schleicher and Gustav Ritter von Kahr, Left wing Nazis such as Gregor
Strasser and many members of the SA including its leader Ernst Rohm. It could be claimed that
the murders were significant as they ended a possible takeover by the SA, deterred and
intimidated Conservative critics while gaining their support, saw the rise of the SS, introduced
terror and dictatorship into mainstream life and reassured the elites and the army. It could be
alleged that a significance of the Night of Long Knives was that it prevented a possible... Show

Hitler had definitely struck fear into ordinary German citizens and this is reflected by a German
citizen interviewed in a 1980s programme, After June 30th everyone was frightened... The
ordinary German no longer felt free. Hitler himself even says at the time in a speech to the
Reichstag, Everyone will know in future that if he lift his hand against the state certain death is
fate. But some may say terror was present before June 1934. In a Manchester Guardian Report,
13th April 1933 it reported, The brown shirts advanced from victory to victory... Their chief
weapon was terror. Now it is worse than ever, it is more universal, more systematic. This
emphasises the SA s out of control behaviour. But this left wing Newspaper may have
exaggerated the effect of their violence. A clear significance of the Night of Long Knives could be
said to be that it reassured and gained support from the elites and the army. Ernst Rohm believed

The Three Ethnic Cultures Of The Malaysian Culture In...
There are three main ethnic groups in Malaysia: the Malays, Chinese, and Indians. To understand
Malaysian culture, we must first understand that individuals from a multicultural society exist
within many cultural contexts simultaneously, each context influencing these individuals to some
degree (Bonn Tam, 2016). Although most of the Chinese or Indian Malaysians are multiple
generations away from their Chinese or Indian ancestors, the traditions, cultural norms, religious
beliefs and linguistic identification of their heritage are maintained. While the majority of
individuals from their respective ethnic group speak their mother tongue, they are able to speak
Malay as a second language. The constitution states that a Malay is someone who practices
Malay customs, speaks the language of Malay, and practices the religion of Islam (Bonn Tam;
Mansor, 2000). The Malay social code discourages communication that is too direct or
forthcoming, especially when providing criticism or negative feedback, as this may come across
as rude (Mansor, 2000). This can be said the same for the Malaysian Chinese, as it is important to
preserve face (jaga maruah in Malay, mian zi in Mandarin). The Malaysian Chinese primarily
practice Buddhism, Taoism, or Christianity, and speak different dialects of Mandarin. Their
heritage can be traced back to the regions of Guangdong and Fujian in China (Gabriel, 2014). The
Malaysian Indians primarily practice Hinduism or Christianity, and speak Tamil.

I haven t watched a full episode of RAW in over three months. I catch up by way of clips on

The Korean War
With the elimination of the Japanese threat by 1945, the demoralization of the Chinese Nationalist
Party (KMT) in 1949, and the conclusion of the Korean War by 1953, the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) and the party s leader, Mao Zedong, internalized efforts and re established order
within the People s Republic of China (PRC). Under Mao s leadership, the PRC experienced
immediate and influential reforms вЋЇ most notably the Hundred Flowers Campaign, the Great
Leap Forward, and the Great Proletarian Cultural RevolutionвЋЇ that benefitted the PRC at first,
but later steered the nation to unprecedented political, social, and economic turmoil. By 1976, the
year of his death, Mao had left China in widespread chaos and civil unrest with millions of Chinese
dead, starving, and impoverished. By 1979, Chinese statesman Deng Xiaoping emerged to become
China s undisputed leader after defeating Hua Guofeng, Mao s chosen successor. With his superior
political skills and decades of experience, Deng engineered vital economic, political, social reforms
that would help restore China from the amounting unrest Mao established between 1957 and 1976.
However, similar to Mao, Deng also confronted opposition and problematic events that tarnished his
legacy. Ultimately, not only did Mao s aspirations for China fail to completely coincide with reality,
but also the aftermath of his ideals produced unwarranted consequences. Consequently, by

Damnation of a Canyon
The Damnation of a Canyon By Edward Abbey Not many people know of the used to be 150
mile excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not many people know how to sail a raft
down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that
come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money.
Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an
environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the
border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon
was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a million

He seems to argue the В‘wheelchair ethos of the wealthy, upper middle class American slob .
Well, excuse the people who were born paralyzed from the waist down, and would like to
experience the forces nature in its natural state of beauty and grace. He seems to generalize the
typical population of people who visit Lake Powell on an unscientific basis, upper middle class
American slobs. So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such
recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own
environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now
that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days,
and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people
don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real
food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a
shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of
garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Even if they did take down the dam and offer
such rafting trips, do you honestly think a person could leave their cell phone at home? In

Is Your Yoga Practice A Vehicle For Mental Health And...
Is your yoga practice a vehicle for mental health and self actualization or are you content with just
doing the physical practice?
Yoga was originally intended to be a practice to facilitate self actualization, meaning to realize who
you are and being comfortable being you. More recently in the western yoga world, there has been
a separation between physical development and spiritual development. Social media has defined
yoga as cool physical postures. Yet, do not be fooled into believing that you will be self actualized
by only practicing asana. Asana is only one of the eight limbs, and a healthy body means nothing
without a healthy mind.

There are many benefits from doing the physical practice, including improved overall physical
fitness, stress relief, and a reduction in anxiety and depression. But how can your yoga practice be
an instrument for self actualization?
First of all, motivation is important. You have to want more. Without the desire to grow and learn,
self actualization will not occur. That motivation often comes from being in a place where nothing
else is working. A time when you have tried everything else, and still you do not feel fulfilled.
The Trifecta Approach
There is a combination that will help you on your path towards fulfillment through self
actualization. I call it the trifecta approach. Here are the three key methods that work together to
facilitate mental health and a life fully lived.
1.Yoga Practice: Find the right yoga teacher who supports your individual development beyond the
physical asana.
2.Meditate: Develop a solid sitting practice. This more subtle practice will strengthen your ability to
observe all mental activity.
3.Psychotherapy: Find a good therapist who will see you, hear you, support you, and guide you
through your own transformation, and who will encourage you to keep at it.
This may seem like a complex combination, but here is a case that demonstrates the trifecta s
approach in action.

The Crucible Analysis
The Adaptations Behind The Work
Alexis A. Arambula
Honors english 11, Kwaitkowski, 8
Abstract
This paper explores the plays, movies, books, and awards that have been accomplished around the
world over Arthur Miller s The Crucible. The Crucible is a fictionalized story written by Arthur
Miller about the Salem witch trials that took place in Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692
through 1693. From France to the broadway theaters in New York the The Crucible appears
conveying its message to all who witness this piece of work. The Crucible is still one of Arthur
Miller s most produced plays today.

Broadway Arthur Miller s has appeared on Broadway numerous times. The first original production
opened at Martin Beck Theatre, January 22, 1953 in Viking (New York, NY) (Arthur,2007).
Reviewer Brooks Atkinson, of the New York Times, noted how the cast members were dressed in
accurately reproduced costumes from early Massachusetts (Atkinson, 1953). Atkinson also stated
Boris Aronson s scenic design was stripped bare and merciless, creating gaunt, pitiless sets of rude
buildings that came to characterize the stage described in most editions of the text today. Atkinson
noted that Arthur Kennedy as John Proctor and Beatrice Straight as Elizabeth offered clear and full
performances, highlighted by the moments the two spent alone together on stage (Atkinson, 1953).
Then a Broadway revival directed by Richard Eyre and presented at the Virginia Theater (later
renamed the August Wilson Theater), opening on March 7, 2002, nearly fifty years later
(Rabkin,2002). The set design is crucial for Richard Eyre to get right because The Crucible uses the
surrounds to give off certain tones. The large wooden sets that isolate the characters and seem
claustrophobic, cutting out the brief visages of the countryside. The lighting design similarly cuts
through the set, forcefully reminding the audience that this town would allow little mercy for its
inhabitants.

The Islamic Revolution and its Impac on Marji’s Family Essay

Dr. Mohammed Mossadeq was deemed by Iranian people as a hero. In addition to the

Reaction Paper On Biking
One activity I like to participate in is biking. I chose this activity for this assignment because it
uses various parts of the brain due to the fact that there are many different things you must focus
on in order to successfully ride a bike. Another reason I chose this activity is because I am very
familiar with riding a bike, making me more confident in the accuracy of my statements regarding
doing so. When riding a bike, your brainmust do much more than simply move your legs around
in circles (unless you want to fall over or crash). Additionally, it must process your surroundings
and focus on staying balanced. Furthermore, if you re clumsy like me, your brain might also have
to make quick, important decisions about how to not die in such a stupid way. A great example
such a stupid way to die would be the time a harmless little fly landed on my hand, causing me to
bump into the chain guard, thus knocking the chain off track and spinning the bike out of control.
The first thing one probably thinks of when contemplating the many parts of riding a bike, is the
circular action of pushing the pedals. The part of the brain responsible for such action is the motor
cortex. I have chosen the motor cortex over the cerebellum because while both are involved in
muscular movement the motor cortex is more about voluntary muscular movement and the
cerebellum more maintaining muscle coordination. The motor cortex is also responsible for
muscular movement involved in steering the

The Main Goal Of An Artist
Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative
perspective in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our
minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on
our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of
the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of
playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are
bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audienceconfused. The vocabulary used is
always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this
place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room
for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences
attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write
her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the playI connected her style of writing
to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet
simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably made no sense to someone with a closed
mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and Morrison were perceived in their time as well.
Many people didn t understand or allow

Comparing Documentaries And Insane Films
Although the most popular, the commercial film industry is not the only way to produce and
project motion pictures to targeted audiences. Documentaries and avant garde films have their own
guidelines, production values, technological innovations, budgets, and overall viewership that differ
greatly from that of fiction based films. Many avant garde films are made not only to challenge the
existing use of filmitself but also to express the personal views or experiences of the screenwriter
and/or director. In most cases, fiction based film focuses on telling the story of a character rather
than shedding light on their life and challenging the presentation of the narrative. Commercial film

Commercial film narratives can also drift from the reality of our world by creating fictional lands,
races, and characters, while documentaries are solely based on our world, giving the audience a
chance to either see or experience what the documentary covers in their daily lives. The ethical
aspect of film documentary can make or break the perception the audience has of it, the filmmaker
to either choose to focus on their own culture or expand their point of view towards another culture.
Many documentaries exploring different cultures can be highly successful, but there is always a
chance of the film failing if the filmmaker fails to show this other culture in a way to best represent
and demonstrate the truth behind this culture for outsiders without being disrespectful. Avant garde
can also push the perception of the world through filmmaking as many of these films can be

It is seen that the photographer s feelings are brought out in two contrasting situations, at home
and while at warfront. The poet continues to describe the sufferings of the photographer when his
mental state is compared as he is travelling between the two contrasting worlds one the warfront
which is full of destruction and chaos and the other is Rural England, probably countryside that is
peaceful and serene. He compares the pain of war to simple pain of changing weather back at
home in England. There being nothing worse then the harsh weather that the children have to face
as against the mines that explode on the running feet of the children affected by war. This only
tells us that the photographer longs peace and he is deeply moved by the affected children. His
prolonged thoughts are presented with great effect by the use of enjambment in this line and this
adds to the effect of continuity of thoughts. From a realistic tone the poet moves on to a mysterious
tone when she opens this third stanza with something is happening. Probably something
unforgettable, frustrating and unbearable is happening. This is unfolded in the subsequent line,
half formed ghost, it s the body of a dead soldier which seems to be haunting the photographer who
is dead. His conscience is pricking him for he had to seek the dead soldier wife s s permission

The Locked Door Gladwell Summary
In the second chapter The Locked Door: The Secret Life of Snap Decisions . Gladwell delivered a
story about a retired tennis player. The player realized that every time he watch a tennis game, he
can predict when the server about to double fault. Gladwell explains that the tennis story proves
how important snap judgment is; he believes those snap judgments are extremely quick so that it
can use the smallest slice of experience. But at the same time they are unconscious. Because snap
judgments are unconscious, people often cannot rationalize them and thus do not trust them. It s
one thing to acknowledge the enormous power of snap judgments and thin slices but quite another
to place our trust in something so seemingly mysterious . Gladwell states that the Getty... Show

time, when he asked about the secret of his success he answered that he could track the ball right
onto the bat. Later on, when he confronted with the fact that human beings cannot track the ball
onto the bat. He said, Well, I guess it just seemed like I could do that . The author continues with
the conclusion that we have the tendency to explain almost everything, even when we do not
have real explanation. According to Gladwell, this is known as storytelling problem , and
therefore we are better off by saying I do not know more often. In the third chapter The Warren
Harding Error: Why We Fall For Tall, Dark, and Handsome Men . Gladwell uses Warren Harding,
America s 29th President, as an example of the disadvantages of thin slicing. He continues to
describe how handsome and elegant Harding was, and how he was elected president based on

Different Strokes for Different Folks in To Kill a...
Morals are something that everyone has. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the book is
full of morally right people and morally wrong people. Jem is one of the most morally stable
children in the book because he understands what is happening in his community around the time
of Tom Robinson s trial and why it is wrong. He and I share some of the same morals and that is
why I picked him as my character choice. I am a very sensitive person. It s been this way since I
could remember. So, I try to be sensitive to other people s feelings. So, about a month ago, I
started going to club volleyball ,but I signed up late. The first time I went to practice, I expected
to take some flack from the girls because I was the new kid . Surprisingly though, everyone was
nice to me except one girl. Her name was Cassie and she knew everything that had to do with
volleyball. As the season progressed on and the new kid vibe faded, Cassie still made me feel
like dirt. I never saw her tell any of the other girls on my team what to do when they made a
mistake and I kind of felt singled out. My mom had picked me up from and I ranted, and ranted,
until my mom stepped in and said, Elon, think about all you just said. You don t know what she s
like except during volleyball. I know for a fact she has problems at home because her mom told
me. I tuned her out halfway through because I was tired of my mom defending everyone other than
me. But the longer I thought about, the more of what she said

Lake County Fair Job Analysis
In life people and experiences come into our lives to help us grow and change. Last year I met
my aunt s best friend, Patti. Patti is a creative, American loving cowgirl, who works hard for
everything and who has become like family to me. Late this summer Patti asked me to work for her
at Lake County Fair and Boone County Fair here in Illinois. Without much hesitation I agreed to it,
not understand fully how much my shyness would make it tougher to perform my job. In that
moment I took on the job, I would have never have thoughtit would benefit my life in any way. As
a child, I was awfully shy to everyone new I met. When my parents introduced me to someone
unfamiliar I would hide behind my mom or dad and pretend like I was not there. I figured... Show

One thing I was really worried about was meeting people and if they would be nice or like me.
When you work at a carnival, no matter what or where you are working, you are considered a
carny. Now when most people think of a carny, they think of a middle aged person who smiles
showing off their gum line because of their lack of teeth or someone who looks untidy, eerie,
stinks of cigarettes and a homelessness, or you get a gut feeling telling you you should not be
talking to them. This is not the case for all carnies. Carnies can also be the opposite. When they
smile, they show off their teeth that should be in a dentist office promoting their business, or
they are welcoming, engaging, and one of the most approachable people you ll ever meet. I m
not saying at fairs you won t meet a carny that makes your skin crawl out of your body, and at the
same time you ll also meet the most genuine people. These are the people that helped me get
over my fear of talking to strangers. When I realized how wonderful these people could be, I
started engaging in conversations with them. After I started engaging in conversation with them,
my job became way more enjoyable. By the end of the week people know my name, I know
theirs and it puts a real smile on my face. I came out of my shell and stopped acting shy. This one
of the best experience that has helped me grow and find

Literary Lense In The Great Gatsby
Looking at The Great Gatsby through our new literary lense, Clash of Class, I was able to
understand the social divide that is very apparent throughout the novel. Often times The Great
Gatsby is looked at as a love story, but there is much more to the historic novel than just love.
The Clash of Class lense looks deeper, beyond money and power, into the novel and required me
to really explore the differences between East Egg( Old money) and West Egg (New Money).
Money is a defining quality throughout The Great Gatsbyin determining social class, but looking
deeper into the novel through our literary lense showed me that there is more to social hierarchy
than just money. Nick expresses throughout chapter one that money is not the only thing people
are born of when he says When I came back from the East last autumn I felt that I wanted the
world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever; I wanted no more riotous excursions

Only Gatsby, the man who gives his name to this book, was exempt from my reaction Gatsby,
who represented everything for which I have an unaffected scorn. If Personality is an unbroken
series of successful gestures, then there was something about him, some heightened sensitivity to
the promises of life, as if he were related to one of those intricate machines that register
earthquakes ten thousand miles away. (Page 5, paragraph 2). Looking through the Clash of Class
perspective, I grasped that Nick is comparing the difference between Old money and New money
by introducing us to his theory. just like one can be born into social class, you can also be born into
natural decencies. It is obvious throughout the book that many people within the East Egg
community were often depicted as shallow, materialistic, and self centered, while those of West Egg
have a much more decent, morally upright, and humane attitude

Lyme Disease Case Study
For Lyme disease to be successfully transmitted the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours.
Because the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours, typically the disease is spread through
immature ticks called nymphs. Nymphs are less that 2 mm and no larger than a pinhead. These
ticks are often found in discreet areas of the body such as the scalp, armpits, and groin. As the
infection spreads and develops throughout the body. Large joints, such as the knees, begin to swell

develop. In more severe instances, damage of the nervous system occurs resulting in nerve paralysis

Benefits Of A Quality Retirement Plan
A quality retirement plan can help companies retain top talent and attract highly skilled new
employees to offset the talent loss that comes with an aging workforce.
According to Scott Boyd, SVP, National Platform Distribution and Relationships and head of
Healthcare Solutions for Prudential Retirement, in Hartford, Connecticut. Plan sponsors and their
providers or advisors when discussing retirement plan design tend to have conversations about plan
costs instead, they should consider the more implicit costs of employees not being able to retire.
Boyd tells Plansponsor that it costs employers an estimated $8,500 per year per person and year
due to increased health care and benefits costs and lost productivity. In addition, a lack of mobility
for middle managers may cause them to leave for competitors which could cost anywhere from
100 percent to 300 percent in salary to replace them. The implicit costs can be bigger than what
plan sponsors spend on their retirement plans, Boyd says.
Prudential trademarked a service it now offers calls DC Optimization. This new product is a process
that now provides plan sponsors with information from defined contribution (DC) actuaries to help
them design an efficient retirement plan that supports their organizations business objectives.
Whether that be containing overall business costs, increasing employee participation in a
retirement plan or attracting and retaining the right talent.
Boyd explains that the first step is to do a

Gentle Parenting Vs Gentle Parenting
Early childhood is an incredibly important part of a person s life when they learn critical life
lessons. The way that someone parents can have lasting and far reaching effects on their children
which is why it is important, especially in the early years of a child s life, to parent in a way that
successfully teaches children to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. This means that
parents should abandon the traditional reward and punishment system and adopt something known
as gentle parenting. Mainstream parenting focuses heavily on rewards and punishments from past
action, whereas gentle parenting focuses on compassion and instilling discipline for future actions
to teach a child right from wrong. A few key points of gentle parenting include having a strong child
parentrelationship in which the child feels loved, leading by example, and having a symbiotic
relationship between the parent and the child. It is imperative for a child to feel connected to
and loved by their parent. This means that the parent needs to go out of their way to make sure
the child feels wanted and is recognized as important. A lot of times parents can get caught up in
work or they may spend a lot of time on their phone and this could be detrimental to the child. The
more love a child feels, the more love and trust they are going to put back into the relationship. If a
parent and child have a strong relationship and the child feels cherished, they will know that the
parent has their best

Would You Rather be a Fast Learner or be Naturally Gifted at Something? There once was a
college football kid who was great at everything in football, but he never was perfect enough at

everything you do at that task, but never perfect at one thing you are not considered exceptional.
If you love doing something that you are exceptional at and want to make goals out of that skill

naturally gifted at something could influence your future job or career. A naturally gifted
pearson could become the richest person in the world, because they are so phenomable at that
job. It takes a lot of work to be the best at something, and if you are already the best at something
since you started is incredible. Being a fast learner is a great quality for people and can be used
in more fun ways than being naturally gifeted at something. Though, even if you can get good at
everything it might not be what jog managers are looking for in an employee. You would have to
be great at what the manager is looking for in an employee. That would mean you are probly a

Weight Loss Plan For A New Year s Resolution
I was determined to keep searching for more ways to lose weight! For some unknown reason, I

resolutions, until the end of the year. Out of all the things that I couldn t stay committed to during
a New Year s resolution, I didn t care about them, like I cared about sticking to a resolution to lose
weight. I began to closely analyze all the possible reasons why I failed at whatever traditional

weight off, without strict dieting. I hated how strict dieting made me feel! I couldn t help but
believe that, there had to be a way for me to lose weight and keep it off without punishing myself
with strict dieting. I knew that if I was going to lose weight and keep it off, that I had to use
healthier weight loss strategies other than the ones that I d used in the past. I also knew that, in
order for me to have continued success, that my resolution had to consist of me losing weight,
without ever making a New Year s resolution. I decided to start with not eatingany fried foods. I felt
like this was the best choice. I learned that fried foods were not only unhealthy for my waistline,

Manipulation And Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare introduces the theme of manipulation,
jealousy, and villainy. The play revolves mainly around the two characters Iago and Othello and
their relationships with each other and their close ones. Before inspecting the hidden motives of
Iago s plot to sever Othelloof his relationship with Desdemona, one must inspect Shakespeare s
reason to include Iagoin the play. The key to unlock all doors in Othello might lie in the
behavioral attitude of Iago through the perspective of the famous philosopher and writer of
Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes. Thomas Hobbes was a 17th century English philosopher who
received the majority of his philosophical views from the English Civil War a war that created a
large amount of bloodshed and economic downfall. Hobbes, who was a peaceful thinker and
despised the concept of violence of any kind, decided to cast his views into the book Leviathan,
which describes the concept of man obeying any sort of government that would prevent brutal
bloodshed and chaos, even an imperfect government,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roderigo became the beast of himself when he could not suppress the desire of stealing
Desdemona away from Othello. The characters of Othello were easily manipulated by the evil

members: Desdemona, Emilia, Roderigo, Brabantio, and Othello. With the death of all these
people, the one person that is not mentioned to be dead and could possibly still be alive is Iago.
Iago s survival serves as a symbol of evil and how evil always find a way to live; it will not escape

Eisenstein s Use Of Continuity Editing In The Conversation
Within The Conversation the use of continuity editing is seen through the use of shots often being
cut away from Stan to Harry even though Stan would still be speaking, this is used to signify that
Harry s private space is being invaded by Stan and his curious nature. This invasion of space is
again reinforced by the many shots which have Harry facing away from Stan, which is a
connotation of Harry avoiding communication with Stan, this also signifies Harry s secluded nature
. Costanzo states In filmthe objective of continuity editing is to create the illusion that the movie is
not made up of a series of short, separate shots, but that it is, instead, one on going, unsliced
(seamless) whole. This relates to The Conversation sequence as Francis Ford Coppola makes his

This contrasts the idea of continuity editing used in The Conversation, as he uses it as a
psychological stimulation rather than a narrative device, this gives Eisenstein a chance to convey his
political opinion through emotional senses to the audience. Eisenstein takes this and constructs
shots that are opposite to create a new meaning within the sequence. Gazetas also states that when
Eisenstein applied dialectical montage to editing his films, he strove to capture a visual
counterpoint of opposing images that would mentally combine in the spectator s mind into an
abstract idea The shot which shows the woman being indecisive of pushing the carriage with her
baby in it down the steps, and being unfortunately shot by the troops marching down The Odessa

famous editing scenes. Montage within this scene returns to her every few seconds as she

The Problem Of Drug Legalization

As everyone knows, drug can easily make people addicted. Conventional drugs such as opium,
heroin, methamphetamine (ice), morphine, marijuana, cocaine can all classify as narcotic drugs

political, economic, legal, cultural, science and technology, is also the social factors that are
expected to result in the proliferation of US drugs, making the United States the world s most
serious drug problem. According to Gallup polls, Americans liked the legalization of cannabis
from 18 percent in 1973 to 31 percent in 1999. (Grossman M, Chaloupka F J, Shim K,2002,

Although the answer is yes to legalize drugs, not all drugs can be legalized; it needs to be safe to
use and not addictive for humans. Agreed that the legalization of drugs is actually a way of
eliminating drugs. In the first place, drugs should be strictly classified: All drugs should be ranked

When Harpo (her Misters son) asked Celie what should I do about Sophia Celie responded with
beat her . This displayed that Celie thinks her identity is to answer to her Mister and if she doesn
t she will be beat; she doesn t really know her true self and capabilities. Although Celie doesn t
really understand her identity she still has one. In contrast, in The Handmaids Tale most of the
characters aren t even given an identity, they are nameless. No character is represented by their
own names, more part of groups such as Handmaid, Wife or Martha. This shows that in this novel
the body of women and the functions are more important than their minds and identity. Most
women were often described by their features, their eyes and hands , this is to show the audience
the lack of identity they hold and how their psychical features are deemed more important than
their mental ability. When one Ofglen is replaced with another the Handmaid quotes this woman
has been my partner for two weeks. I don t know what happened to the one before . This then
shows how disconnected the women are and how the use of the word partner is used to hide the
identity of the person. This also illustrates that the personality of the women is not essential for the
job at hand, as they are just easily replaced with someone else. The Handmaids Tale and The Color

The Importance Of Drinking Bottled Water
Not only is the government responsible for regulating Americas tap water, its also responsible for
regulating packaged water. More specifically The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency oversees
the quality of water that comes out of your tap, while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is
responsible for ensuring the safety and truthful labeling of bottled watersold nationally. States are
responsible for regulating water that is both packaged and sold within its borders (Postman). But
it should surprise many for them to find many states are very lax when it comes to regulating
bottled water. Most surprisingly tap water is often times required to be cleaner than bottled water.
Tap water is tested more often for quality insurance although the contaminates allowed don t
reflect as such. For example, bottled water plants must test for coliform bacteria just once a week;
city tap needs to be tested 100 or more times a month. (Postman). Most test find bottled water to be
clean and pure, but some do underperform in cleanliness About 22 percent of the brands tested
contained chemicals at levels above state health limits (Postman). Although this it is legal for these
companies to have high levels of chemicals because its not city regulated, some companies are still
required to report the purity of their water to the state they reside in. Another surprising fact is that
some bottled water is just plainly tap water, ...if it says from a municipal source or from a

Charles Darwin Outline
Charles Darwin
I. Introduction
A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life , (Charles
Darwin). Darwin meant that our lives are meant to be spent doing the things we want to do and
what would better ourselves. Darwin spent his life doing what he wanted to do rather than what
others would have approved of. Charles Darwin was an important and influential figure in history
that had a positive impact on the world because he had introduced many important ideas of
evolution to the world that challenged its current rules of life.
II. Early life/Childhood

Significant Accomplishments Some of Darwin s greatest accomplishments were writing a total
of twenty five books in his life about the field of biology. His theories on natural selection how it
affected the evolution of species, greatly bettered the field and now stands as the basis of the field
of evolution. He was the one to phrase his most memorable quote, Survival of the fittest , which
describes how only the best organisms of a species can reproduce.
V. Impact on the World Darwin made a grand impact on the world by introducing many people into
evolution and disproved the principles of Creationism with his theories on natural selection and
evolution (Darwinism). His contributions to science field in biology and geology changed how the
world sees life s history as not instantaneous rather a slow ongoing process.
VI. Lesson Learned From Their Life (Conclusion)
To end it all off, Charles Darwin challenged the current ideas of science at his time and changed it
for the better with his studies and theories. Had he given up, we would not likely have our current
understanding of the world of evolution and the history of life. Darwin showed us that we should

  • 2. Gender and Advertising C H A P T E R 7 Gender and Advertising How Gender Shapes Meaning The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, It s a girl. Shirley Chisholm Men are dogs and women are cats. Women are from Venus and men are from Mars. Writers, filmmakers, psychologists, and advertisers all have used the idea that men and women are different to develop stories, create conflict, and provide persuasive imagery. Not only do advertisers view men and women differently, but men and women also bring different perspectives to advertising. Thus, we can assume that men and women create dif ferent meanings from the advertisements they see. Gender roles in our society have changed dramatically since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the meaning from an advertisement has been determined, men and women differ in how that meaning is used. These different decision making processes are related to whether the process is linear or more nonlinear in nature. Men process messages and make decisions more quickly than women do, perhaps because men focus on the primary mes sage of a given advertisement and take in little other information during the process. This is due to the observation that men have a linear thinking and reasoning style, and men tend to have a more task oriented focus than women have. Women, on the other hand, process the information in an advertisement quickly and from many levels and sources, including music, visuals, voice over, and text. Women also tend to evaluate and weigh the various sources to process the message and determine what steps to take next. Women s reasoning processes are less task oriented and more compartmentalized than men s are. Women s decision making processes are characterized as being incremental reasoning processes, where each piece of information builds on the previous information that is taken in. This non linear approach to reasoning allows women to think in terms of interrelated factors, not straight lines. The observation that women evaluate multiple sources supports this reason ing style (Fisher, 1999). Women and men respond to entirely different stimuli when viewing and evaluating advertising messages (Popcorn amp; Marigold, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Revolutionary War Without The Pamphlet Common Sense By... The freedom of press sounds like one of the things we shouldn t be focused on, especially with everything else that is going on in our world. Why exactly is this an important freedom? I have always found it to be a little bit strange that we are protecting the right to say hateful things about people you barely know. It doesn t sound like it should be as important as things like torture or murder. Sometimes words can hurt, but they can also be used to do great things. • 14. Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are Essay Character of Godly Leaders The word character naturally conjures up an array of specific attributes distinctive of an individual or environment. Our earliest experiences with character likely stem from being read classic children s books, like Maurice Sendak s, Where The Wild Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s, Green Eggs and Ham, which portray distinct personality traits within the main character and demonstrate evolution of self as the character acquires knowledge from his or her life experience. Like the characters within our favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life journey. The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus, As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love. I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. • 16. Essay On Anger The effects of anger on health have more to do with duration than frequency and intensity. The normal experience of overt anger lasts only a few minutes. But the subtle forms of anger, such as resentment, impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time. Consistent, prolonged levels of angergive a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50. Anger elevates blood pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, and, in general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little aches and pains or get a lot of colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). You have an anger problem if some subtle form of anger that you may not even be aware of makes you do what is not in your best interest or keeps you from performing at your highest potential. This could mean something subtle, like putting a chilly wall between you and others or a continual impatience or low frustration tolerance that interferes with problem solving and performance competence. Whatever the form of anger, in persistence you run the risk of becoming a reactaholic, with your thoughts, feelings, and behavior totally controlled by whoever or whatever you re reacting to. The more reactive you are, the more powerless you feel; anger is ultimately a cry of powerlessness. Self Compassion and Compassion for Others Mastery of the three steps of self compassion and compassion for others makes us virtually immune to the ill effects of anger. The first step of self compassion is seeing beneath the symptom or defense (anger, anxiety, manipulation, obnoxious behavior) to the cause, which is some form of core hurt (feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected, powerless, unlovable). Second, the core hurt must be validated (this is how I feel at this moment), and, third, changed (this behavior or event or disappointment or mistake does not mean that I m unimportant, not valuable or lovable.) Compassion for others is recognizing that their symptoms, defenses, and obnoxious behavior come from a core hurt, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The extensive and expensive experimental work is necessary to determine the optimal of machining process parameters for obtaining the desired machined quality. In this regard, the present work is focused on the relationship between the input process parameters and machined surface integrity for minimizing the machined damage. Moreover, the paper presents the comparative analysis and performance of two different mill tools such as a specially designed carbide tipped tool and a solid carbide tool. Subsequently, comparing the evaluation of two tools was illustrated by plotting origin graphs. Finally, experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by SEM to investigate the cutting characteristics of machined laminates. Key words: cutting process parameters, GFRP composite laminates, compression moulding, a solid carbide end mill tool and a specially designed carbide tipped milling tool, SEM. A complicated facet of this identity is associated around Jewish masculinity and where the Jewish man fits in contemporary society. Brought forth in Otto Weininger s Sex and Character we come to understand that the Jewish man is perceived to be effeminate and lacking the character traits most commonly associated with the true masculine identity that is most popular for the portrayal of men in the media of today. Films such as The Producers, A Serious Man and Annie Hall all represent characters that adhere to the traits of the Jewish man Weininger describes. The filmmakers intentions of showing this characterization stems from an acknowledgement of validity and what that means to be a Jewish man in modern American culture. In order to fully understand what traits to look for in the characters, we must recognize where their characterizations are coming from. Otto Weininger s Sex and Character is based entirely upon the notion bisexuality, the idea that a person incorporates attributes associated with both sexes to make up their character. He believed that bisexuality is a universal phenomenon among all people. He suggests that men and women aren t completely different sexes, but rather that men and women exhibit various levels of qualities that are associated with man or woman . To understand Malaysian culture, we must first understand that individuals from a multicultural society exist within many cultural contexts simultaneously, each context influencing these individuals to some degree (Bonn Tam, 2016). Although most of the Chinese or Indian Malaysians are multiple generations away from their Chinese or Indian ancestors, the traditions, cultural norms, religious beliefs and linguistic identification of their heritage are maintained. So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days, and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Yoga was originally intended to be a practice to facilitate self actualization, meaning to realize who you are and being comfortable being you. More recently in the western yoga world, there has been a separation between physical development and spiritual development. Social media has defined yoga as cool physical postures. Yet, do not be fooled into believing that you will be self actualized by only practicing asana. Asana is only one of the eight limbs, and a healthy body means nothing without a healthy mind. There are many benefits from doing the physical practice, including improved overall physical fitness, stress relief, and a reduction in anxiety and depression. But how can your yoga practice be an instrument for self actualization? First of all, motivation is important. You have to want more. Without the desire to grow and learn, self actualization will not occur. That motivation often comes from being in a place where nothing else is working. A time when you have tried everything else, and still you do not feel fulfilled. The Trifecta Approach There is a combination that will help you on your path towards fulfillment through self actualization. I call it the trifecta approach. Here are the three key methods that work together to facilitate mental health and a life fully lived. 1.Yoga Practice: Find the right yoga teacher who supports your individual development beyond the physical asana. 2.Meditate: Develop a solid sitting practice. This more subtle practice will strengthen your ability to observe all mental activity. 3.Psychotherapy: Find a good therapist who will see you, hear you, support you, and guide you through your own transformation, and who will encourage you to keep at it. This may seem like a complex combination, but here is a case that demonstrates the trifecta s approach in action. Alex s Story1 Alex is a dedicated yoga practitioner. Broadway Arthur Miller s has appeared on Broadway numerous times. The first original production opened at Martin Beck Theatre, January 22, 1953 in Viking (New York, NY) (Arthur,2007). Reviewer Brooks Atkinson, of the New York Times, noted how the cast members were dressed in accurately reproduced costumes from early Massachusetts (Atkinson, 1953). Atkinson also stated Boris Aronson s scenic design was stripped bare and merciless, creating gaunt, pitiless sets of rude buildings that came to characterize the stage described in most editions of the text today. Atkinson noted that Arthur Kennedy as John Proctor and Beatrice Straight as Elizabeth offered clear and full performances, highlighted by the moments the two spent alone together on stage (Atkinson, 1953). Then a Broadway revival directed by Richard Eyre and presented at the Virginia Theater (later renamed the August Wilson Theater), opening on March 7, 2002, nearly fifty years later (Rabkin,2002). The set design is crucial for Richard Eyre to get right because The Crucible uses the surrounds to give off certain tones. The large wooden sets that isolate the characters and seem claustrophobic, cutting out the brief visages of the countryside. The lighting design similarly cuts through the set, forcefully reminding the audience that this town would allow little mercy for its inhabitants. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another reason I chose this activity is because I am very familiar with riding a bike, making me more confident in the accuracy of my statements regarding doing so. When riding a bike, your brainmust do much more than simply move your legs around in circles (unless you want to fall over or crash). Additionally, it must process your surroundings and focus on staying balanced. Furthermore, if you re clumsy like me, your brain might also have to make quick, important decisions about how to not die in such a stupid way. A great example such a stupid way to die would be the time a harmless little fly landed on my hand, causing me to bump into the chain guard, thus knocking the chain off track and spinning the bike out of control. The first thing one probably thinks of when contemplating the many parts of riding a bike, is the circular action of pushing the pedals. The part of the brain responsible for such action is the motor cortex. I have chosen the motor cortex over the cerebellum because while both are involved in muscular movement the motor cortex is more about voluntary muscular movement and the cerebellum more maintaining muscle coordination. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audienceconfused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the playI connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and Morrison were perceived in their time as well. The poet continues to describe the sufferings of the photographer when his mental state is compared as he is travelling between the two contrasting worlds one the warfront which is full of destruction and chaos and the other is Rural England, probably countryside that is peaceful and serene. He compares the pain of war to simple pain of changing weather back at home in England. There being nothing worse then the harsh weather that the children have to face as against the mines that explode on the running feet of the children affected by war. This only tells us that the photographer longs peace and he is deeply moved by the affected children.
