The digipak and poster compliment each other through their consistent use of fonts, colors and graphics relating to Pulp Fiction. Feedback suggests filling the white space on the digipak with shapes or more pink, and making the font bolder on the poster. Adding film clips and a title to the video would help viewers understand its intertextual references to Pulp Fiction and Tarantino films. Overall, the products work well together but could be improved with these minor changes to fully capitalize on their references.

Music Documentary Rough Royalty Collective- Tamilore Alade
Other ways our documentary uses convention of existing documentaries. Is the use of sound bedding, which is used during the during the voice over, interview and as a soundtrack for the beginning of the episode. Sound bedding/track is an instrumental sound usually from the song that the cast produced or from a featured song that relates to the genre. We used sound bedding because it helps the audience capture what is going on.
Actuality footage was used during the interview of Kayz. Showing the artist performing on stage. This adds realism to our documentary. We also used another actuality footage where the group were performing for a music video in the borough of Abbey wood
Text was used during the interview. Which includes the artists name and what they do. This is a important form, because it gives the audience further information of who they're watching telling them what their role in Rough Royalty and also makes the characters more easier to remember.
Interviews are a very common convention. This allows our cast to speak directly to the audience, telling them about themselves and experiences. Interviews help to give our documentary a sense of realism. The interviewee also look into the eye of the interview while giving there thoughts on the subject. This helped to create more emotion as they speak.
In our interview it was set up in a room using a white screen background and bright lightning and the camera remains static to make it look more professional and so it doesn’t distract the audience from what`s being said, makes it easier to see the cast and offers a clean space to place in the text.
We also used cutaways during the interview to illustrate what the casts are talking about e.g. Dans (public relations) interview.
We used Narrative montage for the introduction by showing different cuts of what's going to take place in the documentary. There were numerous shots of the group in different settings and time within the documentary. Montages in documentaries usually link to what the narrator or different people in the documentary says. However we used this technique but also challenged it by using montage to show iconography images and things that’s going on in the series.
Another convention that was used is colour bars and “beep” sound to add emphasis during the interview of Kaysan. The Colour bars were added during post production, where we censored some of the language used and redid the interview. Colour bars are usually used for behind the scenes and for some music documentaries.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. Digipak: Do you feel as though the simplistic colour
scheme works? Is it dramatic enough? Could you suggest
improvements?
1. Person 1 - The simplicity is effective as it isn’t too over the top and looks professional. The
images you’ve got on there also relate to Pulp Fiction so you can tell its all part of the same
package. Only improvement I’d suggest is to leave less white space?
2. Person 2 - I feel as if the simplistic colours works at your advantage when thinking about your
genre. The images used on the digipak without a doubt represent your song which I like. The
only thing I would suggest is maybe using a different colour to fill up those empty white spaces,
maybe some circles or shapes so its not clearing the white fully, but just livening it up a little.
3. Person 3 - I think the simplicity works well, keeping consistent with the poster. I think the
white space works on the poster, but seems a bit much or the digipak.
4. Person 4 - The colour scheme is light and inoffensive however I feel maybe darker colours
could have been used which are more representive of the genre although breaking codes and
conventions differentiates you from competitors
3. Poster: Do you think the poster fits well with the house
styles of the digipak? Is there anything missing? Any
improvements?
1. Person 1 - It definitely fits within the house style, as you’ve used the same fonts and graphics that have
been used on the digipak. The layout is good to as you’ve used the majority of the space. I’d maybe make
the font a bit bolder (‘includes the new single’) as it’s a little hard to read at first and is quite small.
2. Person 2 - The colours work well on the poster as it matches your digipak. I like how you haven’t been
conventional and used an actual image but instead used graphics to create your poster. The font suits your
genre and the white space is well used. I don’t think another colour needs to be added on the poster so
maybe linking this to what I said previously about your digipak, maybe instead of using a different colour
just use more pink.
3. Person 3 - I think it fits very well within the house style, the same colours and fonts are used which makes
it recognisable. The text could be slightly bolder to make it more visible, but otherwise it works very well.
4. Person 4 - I can see a clear link between the images and straight away can tell that they belong to the same
package
4. Video: Do you think adding film clips would help add to
intertextual references? Would you understand the video
more? Would a title/into help?
1. Person 1 - a title would work well as that would be in the style of Tarantino, and
film clips would only expand on the pulp fiction so they’d be useful.
2. Person 2 - I believe it would be help as the only intertextual reference I could pick
up was pulp fiction.
3. Person 3 - Maybe adding in shots that mimic film clips would work to help
understand the intertextual references, a title would be fitting for the style of video
based on the references.
4. Person 4 - It would definitely add to the total picture and potentially could add a
nostalgic aspect to the feature.
5. Overall: Do my products compliment each other?
Any overall improvements that could be made?
1. Person 1 - I’d say that the digipak and poster compliment each other more than the video does but you can
still see that it’s a part of the package through its content and PF references. I think adding a title to the
video would be beneficial, especially if you used the same font that has been used for the digipak and
poster.
2. Person 2 - Both the digipak and poster compliment each other very well, the only criticism I have is maybe
using more of the colour pink on your digipak to fill up some white space. Your production is very well
made and the dancing is top class, adding in some titles would be useful so intertextual references can be
made from the start instead of as and when you see them.
3. Person 3 - I think the digipak and the poster compliment each other well, and the use of black and white
costumes within the video helps link them all together. Adding something into the white space on the
digipak could help make it look less empty and a title on the video would help the audience to understand
the references.
4. Person 4 - I think they work well together but definitely films clips would add to the feature.
