Leanne Green’s Audience Feedback!
After completing both our ancillary tasks, which were; a film poster and magazine cover, we each asked our target audience a few questions on these and as follows are the answers we got..
Q1. Do you think the products are typical of magazines/posters? If so what ways is it similar? I think that both products are similar to actual magazine/posters that you would see around today as they both use colors to catch someone’s eye from a distance and the image refers to the trailer. I do think they both refer to real products of today, especially the magazine cover because you have stuck to an actual magazine company and sticking to all the rules they use in order for your audience to become familiar. I think they are similar because the image is always the biggest part on the products just like yours is and also you have used the star rating on the poster which you would find on a poster at the cinema.
Q2. Does anything make it different or does it sand out from the typical? How? I don’t think anything is really different from products of today like these. You have stuck to the same color scheme used in your trailer and the same image on the poster which is used in the trailer. Not much is different to usual posters/magazine covers other than the poster, because the image on the poster takes up the whole of the poster not leaving much space for writing. Not a lot of information has been put inn. The magazine cover is a little different as it doesn’t show as much on the cover as an Empire magazine cover would today.
Q3. Does it work? Why? I think the products do work as they do catch an audiences eye from a distance, giving them the familiar and also the information given tells everything the audience need to know about the film. The products do work as they both tell the audience exactly what the film is called an the image giving an idea of what it may be about. The magazine cover could show more. Both products show a clear idea to the audience of the genre.
Q4. Name two interesting/impressive elements from the ancillary tasks? I think that the ‘coming soon’ on the film poster looks impressive as it has a glow to it just like the film trailer. Also on the magazine cover, how you have found the exact font for EMPIRE makes it look more realistic. The images on both products show you have used lighting in the studio in order for it to look professional and the color scheme works well. On the film poster all the writing looks really professional and I like how the color scheme works well with the genre.
Q5. Could these products be stronger – if so how? The magazine cover could have more titles on it as it does look abit plain and basic. I think that both products could be stronger if more effects were added to the images. Even though both products show clearly what the film is and the genre I think that the magazine cover should include more about it.
To conclude my audience feedback, I have now collected all the answers needed and have found that our ancillary tasks do work well to support our video and that even though the color scheme works well towards the genre the magazine cover could have had more added to it.
