A2 Media: Film poster drafting for film trailer

1. These first few steps
consists of my
transformation of the
original photo to the more
greyscale and cropped
photo. Showing specific
steps of how I used
Photoshop to do this.

7. Here I decided the
left side of the face
showed more
emotion related to
the character itself

8. Here I began to change the
background to suit the
greyscale portrait
alongside the aura the
poster should give towards
the audience. The dark
grey bg makes the
character pop out more.

9. Next I start to experiment
the word to make the
poster more character
based and see which
phrase suited best with the
image and the film genre.
With font drafting with the whole
group, the signature font is ‘God
of War’. In order to make it pop
out more amongst the grey
atmosphere, I added a glow and
shadow.

10. I added the film title at the
bottom with the character
phrase at the top making it
more of a subversion to
usual character based film
posters.

11. I added an iconography of
the genre within the
eyeballs. This is to add
more of an effect towards
the poster to tell the
audience a hint on the
genre.

12. To make the poster more
interesting, I added the
latin version of the “our
father” as another hint or
iconography of the theme
of the film.

13. I ensure to make the
opacity low so that it does
not disrupt the characters
image but it subtly still
visible.

17. I changed ‘Sinner’ into a
different colour from the
movie title so that it isn’t
confused with what is the title
or not. The yellow helps guide
the eyes of the audience to
see it first ( due to the bold
colour yellow) then towards
the eyes then the title. This
creates the psychological
effect of memory known as
the ‘recency effect’ usually
also used in trailers. The latin
our father is also spread
amongst the whole of the
poster in order to add more
depth the to grey background.
The slogan of the film Is added
alongside the date.

18. The credits block and logos
are added for the finished
touch of a professional
movie poster.
